A young child sits in front of a television watching cartoons while his mother runs
around the house doing various chores. The mother passes the room the child is in
and glances at the television each time she passes. The child is watching Sesame
Street. Then, a half an hour later, Mr. Rogers is on. The mother walks into the room
a half an hour later and stops in horror at what is on the television. Her young son is
watching the same station as before, but now a different cartoon is on. It is not one of

Primary Adrenal insufficiency (PAI) or Addison s Disease, as it is more commonly
known as, is defined as an insufficient production of glucocorticoids (cortisol).
Cortisol is a regulatory hormone which is secreted and synthesised by the adrenal
cortex of the adrenal glands (1).
Cortisol is vital in maintaining bodily homeostasis. Some roles of cortisol include,
maintaining blood pressure, slowing down the immune system s inflammatory
response and helping the body to respond to stress.
Consequently, Addison s disease is said to affect approximately 1 in every 10,000
people and if left untreated, may be fatal (2). Pathophysiology
PAI results from disease intrinsic to the adrenal cortex, which is the outer layer of

During an autoimmune attack, patients will have their adrenal cortex gradually
damaged by cell mediated immune mechanisms, resulting in autoimmune adrenalitis.

After graduating, college is one of the biggest decisions in a person s life, and debt
is just an extra item that comes along with it. 66% of students from state funded
colleges leave school with debt, and 75% of students at private colleges leave with

when I leave school. One great way to help pay debts is to take a break year and

I thought it would be fun to fling things like raw eggs and rocks with a catapult. Guess
what, it was! By flinging these items I tried to find out if heavier things would travel
farther than
lighter ones. Basically how force effects motion.
With the catapult as the force, I sent items soaring, after weighing them, and then

This is very villainous. He also disagrees with Antonio s business methods. He lends
out money gratis and brings down the rate of usance. He does not like the fact that
Antonio lends money in order to aid others, without personally gaining anything. This

I personally believe that government is involved too much into health and human
services. When I see the percentage of the funds that go into health and human
services it s nice to see that the government recognizes the importance of keeping its
citizens healthy and taking action to provide citizens with Medicaid and Medicare.
The issue I have is the complexity and aggravation it causes the majority when they
go a little to overboard. In my opinion its perfect when the governmentfocuses on
significant issues that affectthe masses that helps everyone. In the past it would have
been acceptable for stateand local government to direct a huge portion of its funds
into dealing with hookworm, an infection that in places like Georgia affected a total
of 51.7 percent of people. This was a disease that affected everyone no matter what
social status or life choices you had, in that time period. It was effective that they
completed public work projects and worked on providing everyone with sanitary
conditions and hospitals.

Galileo s use of the telescope in 1609 revolutionized the field of astronomy because
his observations disproved the geocentric theory and provided strong evidence for the
Copernican/Heliocentric system. Galileo discovered four satellites orbiting Jupiter;
this observation contradicted the geocentric theory by proving that it is possible for
objects to orbit something other than Earth. His observation of the phases of Venus
supported the heliocentric theory because he discovered they were similar to the

The textbook Sociology has tons of information at its publisher website, which
includes a different variety of resources that can help expand a student s
understanding of the book and review concepts as well. The website not only has
information about the textbook, but has other types of reliable information from
outside sources to help understand sociologyon a different level. The resources that
the website provided were useful, but the resources that I believe that will help me
the most is the glossary, the exams, and career opportunities. The glossary has a list
of all of the important terms in the textbook in alphabetical order and I can use this to
see all the important terms that I will need to know. The midterm and final exam on
the website serve as a preparation that can help me review and be readily prepared
once the exams finally approaches. The last resource that I consider important is the
career opportunities because not only does it provide information on job search, it
also includes websites that offer internships. The website provided many helpful
