How To Start An Essay About Myself
Writing an essay about oneself, especially on the topic of "How To Start An Essay About
Myself," can be a challenging endeavor. The difficulty lies in striking a balance between self-
expression and engaging the reader's interest without sounding overly self-centered or boastful.
It requires introspection, the ability to identify key experiences, and the skill to narrate them in a
compelling way.
The challenge begins with the introduction – finding that perfect hook that captures the
reader's attention while setting the tone for the entire essay. It's about avoiding clichГ©s and
crafting a unique opening that reflects one's personality and sets the stage for what follows.
Navigating through personal experiences can be delicate. There's a fine line between sharing
enough to make the essay personal and relatable, and oversharing to the point of making the
reader uncomfortable. The challenge lies in selecting the most relevant and impactful moments
that contribute to a coherent narrative.
Additionally, maintaining a balance between humility and confidence is crucial. It's important to
showcase strengths and achievements without coming across as arrogant, and to acknowledge
weaknesses or challenges without sounding self-pitying.
Crafting a conclusion that leaves a lasting impression adds another layer of difficulty. Summing
up the essay while leaving the reader with something to ponder requires finesse and skill.
Despite these challenges, the process of writing such an essay can be a valuable exercise in self-
reflection and self-expression. It allows individuals to delve into their own experiences, explore
their identity, and articulate their thoughts in a coherent manner.
For those who find this task daunting, assistance is available. Similar essays and much more can
be ordered on platforms like HelpWriting.net, where professional writers can help navigate the
intricacies of self-expression, ensuring that the final product is not only well-written but also
genuinely reflective of the individual's unique personality and experiences.

The Hot Hand Theory Of Basketball Is A Fallacy Essay
Evidence presented throughout the last forty years has suggested that the Hot Hand
theory in basketball is a fallacy. Evidence suggested that there is no scientific
reasoning for being able to improve one s odds of making a jump shot, if the
previous three shots were made. New evidence presented by, Andrew Bocskocsky,
John Ezekowitz, and Carolyn Stein, suggested that there is a better chance of making
a shot if the previous three shots have been made. The authors have used equations
that take into account different aspects of the game, which could influence hotness.
Previously, these variables have not been taken into account, which could have
possibly skewed the data. The evidence in the peer reviewed journal article, has taken
into account all aspects of the game that could influence the probability that a shot
will, or will not go in. In the article Bocskocsky, Ezekowitz, and Stein, used a data set
from 83,000 shot attempts throughout the 2012 2013 NBA season. From each shot
taken, stats were recorded regarding the different aspects of the shot. First off, shot
difficulty needs to be taken into account. Who is taking the shot will influence the
probability of the shot going in, depending if it is a high percentage three point
shooter taking the shot, or a center taking the three point shot. Another factor that has
been taken into account is the amount of time left, and score differential. These two
factors will heavily influence the mindset of the

Essay on The Myths of the African American Woman
Defying the Myths of the African American Woman Incidents in the Life of a Slave
Girl, Song of Solomon, and Push
Throughout slavery, myths were created about African American women. These
myths of yesterday have tainted the image of the African American woman today.
These myths include two major ideas, the first being that all African American
women are perceived as more promiscuous than the average white woman. The
second myth is that black women are virtually useless, containing only the
capabilities of working in white homes and raising white children. These myths
caused these women to be degraded in the eyes of others as well as themselves.

Stephen King s Autopsy Room Four
Stephen Edwin King was born on September 21, 1947, in Portland, Maine. King is
one of the most successful horror writers of all time. His parents split up when he
was very young, and he and his brother divided their time between Indiana and
Connecticut for several years. King later moved back with his mother and brother.
Then he graduated from Lisbon Falls High School.
King then attended the University of Maine. He wrote for the school s newspaper.
King also published his first writing while in college. After graduating, he tried to
find a position as a teacher, but he had no luck. King still continued to write stories in
his free time until he later started working as an English teacher.
King later married and had three children: Naomi, Joseph, and Owen. King uses
many of his past experiences in his stories, such as in Pet Sematary when his own
cat died and he had to bury it in an animal graveyard. Stephen King also uses very
realistic imagery in his stories. He also tends to include a lot of brand names that can
sometimes be too much, although it does provide the realism. ... Show more content

He shows this evil in every one of his stories in many different ways. It varies from
corruption, superstition, human flaws, or other flat out creepy ways. In Autopsy

begin operations. Throughout the whole story, King keeps you on edge and
guessing on the man s fate. The stupidity of the doctors almost ends up killing him.
He survives the ordeal. Another major theme is misery. King likes to put his

Premature Infant Stimulation
It is known that then stimulation of infants during the first few months is important
for proper development to take place. Following, we will review the importance of
both a stimulating environment and the need for physical stimulation provided by
caregivers.
A lot of emphasis has been placed on physical, mother infant, interaction, but studies
have shown that inanimate stimulation is as important as social stimulation. Yarrow,
Rubenstein, Pedersen, and Jankowski (1972) examined the importance of stimulation
from caregiver interaction and the natural environment. The emphasis of their work
was to study the impact of disadvantaged environments on infant development. What
their work did show was that the environment of the infant was just ... Show more

When we look at infants in orphanages in Romania, we find children that are deprived
of the complex physical contact normally received by other children that have a
dedicated caregiver. These children show serious intellectual deficits, and although
they show improvement later, they never catch up to their peers who were raised in
more traditional environments (Berk, 2014). When we look at premature infants,
who spend a large amount of their time in incubators, we find that they show slower
gains in mass and motor function then their peers. Now, when premature infants are
given 15 minutes of mechanosensory stimulation, three times a day for ten days, they
show an increase in weight along with more time awake and active. They also would
show more improvement than their unstimulated peers based on the Brazelton
Neonatal Behavioral Assessment Scale (Ardiel Rankin, 2010)
The effects of stimulation on infant development cannot be understated. The more
research that has gone into the importance of this the more emphasis is placed on
attempting to correct sensory deprivation. In hospital NICUs we see more interaction
with children that are born premature. We are also seeing a greater emphasis on
placing orphaned children into homes where they can benefit from direct caregiver
contact and have a more stimulating environment to explore. Now, more than in the
past, we see the need
Agatha Christie Dysgraphia
Agatha Christie Dysgraphia It was quite true and I knew and accepted it. It did not
worry or distress me. I was always resigned to being the slow one (ResearchGate).
This is what Agatha Christie said one day when she realized she had a very serious
disease, now known as dysgraphia. Christie s dysgraphiacaused her many challenges
in her lifetime, but it never stopped her from being an amazing, bestselling novelist.
In the United States, anywhere from five to thirty three percent of elementary
children deal with some level of dysgraphia (Adam), a writingdisability. Other names
for dysgraphia include backwards writing, developmental output failure, and math
disability (Siegel). When a child has dysgraphia, there is a problem with the
writing process; therefore, the children have trouble writing (Richards 63). Some
of the victims of dysgraphia have trouble forming letters, while others can form
letters but not very quickly (Paquette 88). It was once said, As students struggle
with the process, they become preoccupied and can t let their ideas flow onto the
page (89). Although there are many devices to help with the disease, there are very
few ways to overcome dysgraphia. One of the tools one can use to help a child
with dysgraphia is graphic organizers. Another tool someone can use is special
education services in the school. Most schools offer very good special education
services which can help children with many challenges, including dysgraphia (91).
Other tools commonly used may include a spell checker (93), word prediction
software, and text to speech tools (259). Many teachers also suggest keeping a list
of commonly misspelled words and having a note taker. Teachers may also use oral
tests instead of written tests to eliminate stress (93). One can also use the checkbook
programs companies provide (259).
Dysgraphia is caused by an issue between two main brain systems (Paquette 89).
Some of the symptoms of dysgraphia may include cramped fingers, inconsistent
formations and slants to letters, unfinished cursive writing, decreased speed of
writing, and poor organization on the page (Richards 63). There are five different
kinds of dysgraphia. The first is known as motor dysgraphia, and symptoms may
Swimsuit For Muslim Women Research Paper
Burkini ban is ridiculous The burkini is a type of swimsuit for women. It is also
suitable for Muslim women to wear for swimming because it covers the whole
body except the face, hands and feet. Wearing burkini became a worldwide topic of
discussion when France banned the use or wear this swimsuit, citing a possible
show support for terrorists including Islamic State. However, clothing ban is a gross
violation of civil rights and cultural rights. First, the clothing ban is the violation of
civil rights because all people should receive equal treatment in society and
individuals freedom in living. For example, recently, four armed French police forced
a Muslimwomanwho was lying on a beach in Nice to take off her burkini. Then she
was ordered off the beach and was fined. Moreover, people around also yelled at her.

The Museum Of Outdoor Arts
John Madden and his daughter, Cynthia Madden Leitner founded the Museum of
Outdoor Arts (MOA) in 1981. When the museum first opened, there were nineteen
art acquisitions on display, all public outdoor sculptures, establishing the mission
statement of making art a part of everyday life. The first building the MOA offices
resided in was Orchard Falls in Greenwood Village; since then, the museum moved
four or five times within the Arapahoe county. Currently, the Museum of Outdoor
Arts occupies a space in the Englewood Civic Center on the second floor across
from the courts. In 2000, MOA moved from Greenwood Village to Englewood,
incorporating indoor galleries, offices, and a workshop studio into the new location.
Five to six staff members run the museum, hiring interns and independent
contractors as needed. A board of trustees and an advisory committee guide the
policies of the museum and make legal decisions. The board of trustees has four
members consisting of the President of the Board, the Vice President, the Treasurer,
and the Secretary, while the advisory committee has eight members. The museum
curates and manages over 200 art pieces within its collection. The museum acquires
at least one new art piece a year to exhibit in one of the public locations the museum
manages. Marjorie Park in Greenwood Village and the Englewood Civic Center
Sculpture Garden are the two main sites for MOA to exhibit acquisitions and large
pieces from the collection. Marjorie Park, formally

Discussing the Stability of the Weimar Republic
When the First World War ended in 1918, Germany was left with many problems to
resolve. She was blamed for the war and was a country in much distress. From the
years between 1918 and 1928 Germany faced many problems, before beginning to
find her feet again.
After the system of the Kaiser had been got rid of, Germany had to decide on a new
constitution. It was decided that all Germans had equal rights, and that all parties had
a chance because of Proportional Representation which meant political parties were
allocated seats in Parliament in proportion to the number of votes they got. A strong
president was necessary because Article 48 said that ... Show more content on

The Germans responded to the invasion by passive resistance, this lead to hyper
inflation. Hyper inflation meant that the government kept printing more money in
order to pay the workers for the passive resistance. This soon got out of hand and
money soon be came incredibly worthless. This made Weimar Republicunstable as
their money was worthless, the public were loosing money and things were spinning
out of control.
So in 1923, Gustav Stresemann, the chancellor, decided that Germany would give
into France. He ended the policy of passive resistance in the Ruhr. To some German
parties this was seen as weak, but it was actually a very sensible move, as now the
worthless money could be burnt and the temporary currency, the Rentenmark could
be bought in to help get the country back on it s feet, which in turn would help
stabilise Germany again.
The German government then agreed to start paying reparations again. And in 1924
The Dawes Plan made a huge loan of 800 million marks available to Germany. This
also helped stabilise Germany, as they were now paying reparations again and
sticking to the Treaty of Versailles.
Then in 1925 Germany signed the Locarno Treaty which guaranteed Germany s
frontiers with France and Belgium, and in 1926, as a result of her co operation over
Locarno, Germany was allowed into the League

Matthew Arnold is one of the many famous and prolific writers from the nineteenth
century. Two of his best known works are entitled #61505;Dover Beach #61504; and
#61505;The Buried Life. #61504; Although the exact date of composition is
unknown, clearly they were both written in the early 1850s. The two poems have in
common various characteristics, such as the theme and style. The feelings of the
speakers of the poem also resemble each other significantly. The poems are concerned
with the thoughts and feelings of humans living in an uncertain world. Even though

What Does King Arthur Schopenhauer Mean When One Is
Apart...
Source III is a quotation from Arthur Schopenhauer and he states that people whose
self worth needs enhancing, will resort to their shared sense of belonging to their
nation state. Schopenhauer says when one is apart of a nation they are ready and
happy to defend all its faults . This is a type of devotion an individual illustrates
when they are prideful of its nation. For example, the Nazi party was under Hitler s
rule who did not have the most pleasant ideas when it came to diminishing the
cultures he had no desire for. Hitler slaughtered multiple minority groups because he
wanted to create his own master race which was called the Aryans. This race would
consist of people who had a pure German ethnicity, blond hair, light skin, and blue
Evaluation And Synopsis Of The Event
Written Evaluation/Synopsis of the Event
Our event was complicated from the beginning; however, our group managed a
brand new event for the Undergraduate Communication Association through the
guidance of Jessica Thompson and Josh Nesselrodt as our clients and the hard work
of our team. The event that our group hosted was Pathfinder, a communication
driven discussion of both academics and career opportunities through two panels.
The event, sponsored by the Pepsi Enhancement fund, despite conquering several
great feats as a new event with high reviews from attendees, a few things did not go
as we panned for our event. However, we would like to discuss various others in
which we took much pride.
First, we had originally discussed a later date that gave us some leeway with how we
were going to present marketing materials as well as the social media strategy to
promote our event properly. Pressed for time, we cut our event time by a few weeks.
This led to a few issues as we had much to do in little time. We were able to get
flyers out to the campus area as well as promote through our Facebook event and the
University of Maryland s UCA Twitter handle.
Another victory for our group was our attendance. For the timing of the event being
on campus on Friday midday, we were able to pull a small group of an attentive
audience. Those that were there were engaged and in reviews, said they had found
the information very useful to their lives perusing communication. Panelists as well
Literary Analysis Of Rachel Hadas Questions In The...
In the collection of poems Questions in the Vestibule, Rachel Hadas explores the
different emotions she experiences after the death of her husband. Hadas had lost
two very important men in her life. During the Writers at Newark reading, Hadas
explained how she lost both her Father and her late husband. They both had a large
impact on her work. Her father, Moses Hadas, was a classical scholar and a
translator of classical works. He died when she was seventeen years old. She
follows in her father s footsteps and translates classical works just like him. Her late
husband, George Edwards, was a music composer and professor of music at
Columbia University. Her work is a reflection of both men and they both are
mentioned in her most recent project. In Questions in the Vestibule, Rachel is still
processing the death of George. During this time, she feels this in between feeling.
Hadas defines a vestibule, before she reads her poems, as a place where you are
neither truly in or out. The vestibule is a true emotional representation of in between
or confusion. Hadas explores the metaphorical vestibule emotionthrough form and
voice which became more clear because of the way she chose to read the text. Hadas
used form in very different ways during the reading when reciting her poem
Equipoise. The poem is in the Petrarchan Sonnetform. The form consists of two
stanzas. The first stanza is eight lines, or the octave, and poses a question. The
second stanza has six lines and is a sestet. This second stanza is the answer to the
question or a counter to the first stanza. There is a turn or volta between the eighth
and ninth lines which begins the switch from the question to the answer. Oddly,
Hadas breaks the form by not rhyming certain lines. This makes the reading more
interesting and makes the poem somewhat unfamiliar. Hadas volta capitalizes on the
theme of the in between. The hopelessness in the first stanza turns into prospects for
the future to come, by the time the second stanza comes around. Hadas writes,
Cuplike, this little valley brims with sun. Pages fill and empty (96). She describes
different objects that are void or lost. The valley was once a mountain that was

Symptoms, Causes, Prevention, and Treatment of Gingivtis...
Gingivitis is a type of periodontal disease and is when the gums are inflamed. The
gums in the teeth destroy the tissues because of the inflammation and infection
known as periodontal disease (MedlinePlus n. pag.). Gingivitis typically precedes
periodontitis but it is important to understand that not all gingivitisprogresses to
periodontitis ( Gum Disease n. pag.). Most of the time gingivitis is from not brushing
and flossing which may lead to the use of certain drugs and source of medical
disorders. When the gums turn red, swollen, and start bleeding it is usually the sign
of the common disease, gingivitis. Gingivitis is sometimes not detected and barely

Just because there are no noticeable symptoms of gingivitis that does not mean it is
not there. In certain people, gum disease may affect only certain teeth, such as the
molars, only a dentist or a periodontist can identify and decide the progression of
gum disease ( Gum Disease n. pag.). Above all, the effect of long standing plaque
deposits is what causes gingivitis. A sticky material made of bacteria, mucus, and
food debris that grows on the parts of the teeth that are visible is called plaque.
Plaque is a major factor of tooth decay and without removal it turns into a hard
deposit called tartar. Plaque is the primary cause of gum disease, however other
factors can contribute to gum disease as well (MedlinePlus n. pag.).
Other factors that contribute to gum disease are plaque induced gingivitis, drug
induced gingivitis, and gingivitis due to vitamin deficiency, gingivitis due to
infections, gingivitis due to pregnancy, gingivitis due to menopause, gingivitis due to
leukemia, and gingivitis due to an impacted tooth (Pericoronitis). The most common
cause of gingivitis is plaque induced gingivitis which is from lack of brushing and
flossing. When different drugs cause gum tissue to overgrow, so that eliminating
plaque becomes nearly impossible and sometimes develops gingivitis it is called
drug induced gingivitis. Another cause of gingivitis, in rare cases, is vitamin
deficiencies. Many small white or yellow sores that form inside the mouth and the

aspects of his life still remain to be a great mystery. When he was alive, many in

Since Shostakovich was unable to express his ideas about Communism openly, he
had to resort to sarcasm to show his resentment to the party. But how can one prove
that Shostakovich used sarcasm in his works? Sarcasm in nonvocal works is usually
evident when lots of techniques from different style periods are used. This creates
contrast and exaggeration in a piece to represent sarcasm ( Dmitri ). Several works of
Shostakovich demonstrate this technique, but one of the more well known pieces is
the Leningrad symphony. In Shostakovich s 7th Symphony, otherwise known as the
Leningrad symphony, he uses a great deal of Sarcasm. During the time when the
symphony was written, Shostakovich and his family were in Leningrad when the
Nazis sieged the city. As the war continued, the symphony became a song of the
Russian resistance against Germany ( Dmitri ). The true intentions of the symphony
have been highly debated. When taken at face value, it appears that Shostakovich
was attempting to conform to the Soviet standards and write a piece full of patriotic
themes, but when taking a more in depth look, it can be said that the piece has a
double meaning (Simon, Politics ). In order to save himself from the threat of being
taken away by the Secret Police, Shostakovich wrote the piece to please Soviet
authorities. He portrays Russia as
Comparing Chocolat And Things Fall Apart
At times in life, problems appear as an issue of dealing with societal norms. One
option addresses the problem quite easily by simply stepping inside the box of
conformity. When inside that box, another problem arises that as Rita Mae Brown
states; the reward for conformity is that everyone likes you but yourself . The movie
Chocolat and book Things Fall Apart showcase individualism falters when given the
ability to conform. The characters in both stories seem content on conforming, to
address the issues plagued by each society. In the book Things Fall Apart, the idea
that individualism falters when given the ability to conform appears multiple times.
The community within the tribe selects only who they deem worthy, and follow a

Anouk enters a heavily Catholic village with the aspiration of meeting new
friends. Her mother makes a name for herself when she refuses to go to Church
and not worship like the rest of the villagers. Anouk befriends her classmates, but
soon that turns out to make her life a lot harder. Her classmates fill her thoughts
and ideas from the conversations of their parents. Most of the kids parents bash
Anouk s mother due to her individualist lifestyle. During a scene, Anouk comes
home crying asking why can t you be like normal parents? This shows how badly
Anouk just wants to live a normal childhood. She wants the ability to fit in and just
enjoy her childhood, by making friends and not worrying about drama or gossip.
She becomes frustrated when she realize her mother does not fit the stereotype the
town has in place. The idea the town has an unwritten rule that everyone must have
a spouse, and everyone must go to church. Those that don t follow this rule
sacrifice a lot to ensure others do not look down upon them. This principle adheres
to Josephine for the first part of the movie. She feels terrified to leave her husband,
who abuses her. She feels he would attack her due to the idea that the village would
mock for her leaving him. Josephine stays with him, slowing losing her
individualism. She steals things to make up for the abuse at home.
William Wordsworth s The World Is Too Much With Us
There s Something About Nature
In the same way Ted had lost touch with Mary, humans have lost their connection
with nature. William Wordsworth, in his poem, The World is Too Much With Us;
Late and Soon, illustrates the careless attitude of humans towards nature and all it has
to offer. In this Italian sonnet, the narrator, who is Wordsworth himself, is standing
on a grassy area overlooking the sea while wishing he could see the glory of nature
which humanity has chosen to disregard. He also expresses the frustration that he has
towards all of humanity for choosing to neglect the raw beauty and joy that nature has
to offer by destroying its beauty with material objects. The language that Wordsworth
uses in this Italian sonnet engenders a feeling of depression that makes the audience
feel ashamed and almost embarrassed to be associated with the nature of humans not
to acknowledge the beauty that they are surrounded by. Wordsworth is frustrated with
the way humans act and ignore the beauty of the natural world around them by
acquiring materialistic things, thus showing not only his irritation and
disappointment in society, but also his irritated tone he has throughout the sonnet.
Through his use of personification and imagery, Wordsworth is able to communicate
that humans, in general, have become detached from nature and it s beauty because
of their infatuation of materialistic objects.
The first section of this sonnet begins with a powerful statement of opinion from
The Importance Of Employment At Will
Employment at will gives employers the freedom to fire employees who have gone
contrary to the company policies, rules and regulations regarding the companies
operations without a due cause to showcase why their employment should not be
terminated. This means that once an employee is caught in the wrong and the
managementfeels that their cause of action was illegal and contrary to employment
rules and guidelines then they can fire them without any formal notice leading to that
action. The employees are usually at the mercy of the company s administration
unless they have a contract which defines their rights and the limits that an employer
should take in any disciplinary proceedings. Every state in the United States has got

Under such exceptions, the COO can fire John for gross misconduct to avoid losing
the primary client who may be an important factor in the IPO. This will limit the
liability and impact on the operations because the organization will have acted firmly
to the interest of the client and the general public by restoring the faith and
commitment of the new administration. Further to firing John, the company should
use any legal means available to compel John to delete that post from his Facebook
wall to mitigate any further damage it may have caused. The COO would have acted
on the deontology ethic which guides a decision maker to do what is good and right
in accordance with the obligations and duties which they are engaged in.
The second incidence the COO involves an employee who after being disciplined for

The COO when faced with this incidence should first summon the employee and

This is because the company can not be viewed as ignoring the views of the
employees which may be right and the decisions which they made would have been
for the good of the company. Under such an incidence the
Complexity And Algorithms That Can Take An Impossible...
Complexity and Tractability
The area of tractability explores problems and algorithms that can take an
impossible amount of computation to solve. Tractable problems can be roughly
defined as problems that can be solved in a reasonable amount of time, while
intractable problems are those which take too long to solve to be useful. Finding
solutions to these problems is a key problem in computer science today and has been
for many years. It is also important for a computer scientist to recognise intractable
problems as it would be a huge waste of time trying to write a program to an
intractable problem. It would be better to recognise this and take a different more
suitable approach that would save time and effort but also would come up with a
valid solution. However there are advantages to making a problem intractable though
as when securing things using intractable codes which cannot be hacked into easily.
Complexity can be simply defined as a rough estimation of amount of time it takes a
particular algorithm to solve a problem. This is not only measured in time but can
be expressed as the number of steps taken in order to solve a problem. It is
important to be able to measure the complexity of a problem as this can help to
indicate how good/effective an algorithm will be and whether it is tractable or
not.One of the most popular intractable problems that has been found is the Traveling
Salesman problem. This problem represents a salesman who wants to find the shortest
Maggie Everyday Use
I chose character Maggie in Everyday Use for your grandmamma by Alice Walker.
Maggie is a character of purity and that is not compromised by selfishness or
complex emotional needs. When she was a child severely burned in a house fire,
her wounds are ugly appearance hides her compassionate, generous nature. She
lives in a house remains almost no intact by the outside world, and is protected by
the mother. Her only isolated many protect her house; she is the victim of a solitary:
She suffers from a lack of shy and education. Maggie goes to the meek, shuffling

Plug In Drug
Television: The Plug In Drug On July 20th, 1969, the whole world saw Neil
Armstrong making his first small step on the moon on television. Although people
might think that televisions bring people all together, it is actually a device innovated
to sell propagandas and products while manipulating the people s minds. At inception
of the medium, most people thought television was beneficial to every sector of
society; yet in the Marie Winn s crafted argument, she claims that the so called
experts did not realize the powerful impacts television would have in their social
interaction, communication, and family life. In this passage, she addresses the
powerful and destructive impacts television had on families that were hidden by the

television being beneficial to the society. Responding to The New York Times s

room , she destroys the counterargument of the experts by implementing a sharp
contrast between the industrial pictures of a family sitting together with the real
picture of family members watching televisions separately. Winn s usage of the
counterarguments provided by the experts strengthens her main argument about
television s strong impact on family life. The author, who paid for the studies, has a

The Decisive Outcome Of The Napoleonic Wars
Thesis Statement:
This paper shall attempt to show the reasons for the need of this campaign and why
this campaign was important to the decisive outcome of the Napoleonic Wars [1787
1815].
Historical Background:
In 1803, the War of the Third Coalition began against France. In this coalition, the
powers of the United Kingdom, Austria, Russia, and Sweden went to war against
France to reestablish order on the old continent of Europe. In the War of the Third
Coalition two major battles of the Napoleonic wars were seen: Austerlitz and
Trafalgar both were decisive in their tides of the war efforts. In the end, Austria
would be forced into a surrender, and the Confederation of the Rhine would occur.
This would leave the United Kingdom as one of the few states at war with France
for the safety of Europe. By 1808, Napoleon was marching on many of the old states
(again): Austria, Prussia, and Spain. With the French invasion of Spain and Portugal,
the British were forced to send troops to the Iberian Peninsula. Following a series of
defeats and almost the complete loss of Lisbon, the United Kingdom placed Arthur
Wellesley (who would later become known as the Duke of Wellington) in command
of the Iberian Forces for the defense of Portugal, thereby, beginning the great
campaign in Spain, known only as, the Peninsula Campaign. The reason for the
historical significance of the Peninsula Campaign of 1808 to 1814 is thusly this: with
growing number of British troops in the underbelly of

one of the best choices she had made for the educationof her children, she always said
that it helped her get my brother academically ready. It gave him a chance to interact
with other children, he came out of his shy shell. Also structural wise he did not have
an issue with familiarizing himself with the school s daily schedule. According...

down and forced to listen to the teacher. Realizing that children have short attention
spans made me automatically aware that by having children sit and listen to you for
more than 10 minutes will turn into absolute chaos. They will get up and run
around, and not pay attention to you at all. As for a daycare facility they have toys
for children to play with not just any toys but toys that teach children how to
differentiate colors, count your numbers, tell you what the animal is and what noises
it makes. Therefore, daycare facilities have a huge impact on children in their basic
learning and developing skills.
Everyday you have a certain schedule, for example you wake up, brush your teeth,

Integrated Reporting And Its Key Concepts And Guiding...
Title: Integrated Reporting
Abstract
Integrated reporting (IR) is a major development in a number of sustainability
related accounting initiatives. With IR the focus will be on strategic rather than
operational or transactional. The purpose of this essay is to produce insights from
the academic journal articles into the rapidly developing field of IR. The essay
draws up what IR is and its key concepts and guiding principles. In addition it outlines
the apparent opportunities / benefits and challenges / limitations of IR for reporting
entities. The essay also outlines the implications it has to the society at large from the
adoption of IR by reporting entities. The essay provides reporting organisations and
other interested parties with insights into concerns and characteristics of IR.

Introduction
An Integrated Report has been defined as a concise communication about how an
organization s strategy, governance, performance and prospects, in the context of its
external environment, lead to the creation of value in the short, medium and long
term (IIRC, 2015). A stated aim of IR is to support integrated thinking and decision
making. IR is a process of collaborating information about financial and non financial
activities of business entity to its stakeholders. It is a source through which the
causes of success and failures of business are discovered by the reporting entity. As a
result of globalisation there has been rapid growth in the corporate sector like
The Reflection Of Living With Jesus Christ In The World
While living and serving in a Chiang Mai prison in Thailand, I met with a radical
Muslim man named, Ali, who was serving a life sentence in the Thai prison because,
he murdered a Thai woman. As growing up in Pakistan, it is very challenging to love
those who persecute and hate you. Initially, he didn t want to do anything with
Christianity. But after meeting him for at least six months, with difficult
conversations, he decided to accept JesusChrist as his personal savior. From that
point on, I had to leave all my hard feelings behind and accept him as a part of the
body of Christ and take care of him. Honestly, I had to listen him cry and suffer in the
Thai prison. But in the midst of all that suffering, I had to stand right beside him,
fight for his basic rights in the Thai judicial system, communicate with the Pakistani
embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, and wrap my arms around him.
Today, we will learn together from the passage 1 Corinthians 12:12 27 in which
Paul uses a metaphor of a body to describe diversity and unity in the body of Christ
and its functions and how do we need to take care of those who are facing extreme
persecution.

Seven years war so in order to get that the British made the Stamp Act. This was a
tax that was made on all legal documents and newspapers to be printed on a special
Stamp paper in order to know that the person had paid the tax. The second tax to be
imposed on the colonies was the Townshend Tax, which would tax any commodities

the colonies lacked representation in Parliament. This in turn created the term No

and British troops? Was this justified? Explain your position. Violence had broken
out between the two group because the British were doing things that had upset the
colonist. For example the soldiers were competing the colonists for jobs. Also
violence broke out after the colonists dumped 18000 pounds of tea into the Boston
Harbor, after the Tea Act was established. I do think that some actions that were taken

Kornfield No Self
In No Self or True Self, Jack Kornfield believes that meditation and spiritual
practice allows us to figure out who we really are as human beings. In order to do
this, he believes that we need to accomplish two tasks; discover selflessness and
develop a healthy sense of self. A person needs to realize and learn that we all coexist
and that a single identitydoesn t define someone, in order to live a fulfilling and
awakening life. Kornfield s account of the selfis logical and good because a person
would be nowhere and not succeed in life without the help of others around them and
everyone changes over time including their identity.
The first task that a person needs to accomplish to be able to awaken is to discover
selflessness. Kornfield says, We do not exist as separate human beings (199). This
means that we all depend on one another. I agree with statement ... Show more

Some might argue that reclamation is a negative aspect of developing a healthy
sense of self. According to Kornfield, In reclamation, we bring attention to
understanding the painful conditions that created our weak, deficient, or
barricaded sense of self (208). The act of bringing attention and revealing painful
memories that a person stored away is like opening a healed wound back up. For
some people, this can be extremely traumatic and can be hard to push forward to
reach the end goal of a healthy sense of self. Although some may argue that
reclamation does more harm than good to a person, Kornfield and I disagree.
Kornfield believes that a person has to push through all of the hardships in order to
have a healthy sense of self and in the end the person will feel much better. I agree
because I believe that once you understand the pain and weakness, you grow
stronger and can look past the bad and focus on the present. We all encounter
challenges in our lives and the only way to move past them is to face them directly
and overcome

Vietnam War Domino Effects
Over the course of history America has been involved with multiple wars fought in
many different parts of the world, giving America unfortunate experiences each time.
But the Vietnam War was the one that gave America the biggest conflict due to the
fact of how many different problems and negative outcomes it gave to the country.
The Vietnam War started in the mid 1950 s (November 1st 1955) in the countries of
North and South Vietnam. It was a war started from North Vietnam attempting to
spread and take over South Vietnam, this led to the US then getting involved to
attempt to prevent a spread of communism and more importantly prevent the domino
effect that happened previously in WWII. There were two main sides to the war,
North Vietnam which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Towards the beginning (JFK) the president who started to go indepth with the
Vietnam War was assassinated, resulting in Lyndon Johnson to start to get more
involved with the Vietnam War. He started to send more and more troops to Vietnam
and having the government lie to the people to help gain more in numbers. Instead of
trying to find ways to prevent warfare and destruction when the Gulf of Tolkien
Incident came he used this as a way to wage war with North Vietnam (even though
North Vietnam never fired against the United States). One thing that made a large
impact on the United States was the fact that this was the first war to be televised,
everyone saw what went on, including the truth. When the Tet offensive was
launched against the South Vietnamese, everyone in the United States could see
that America wasn t really winning the war. This lead to the draft and a large upset
in the general public and a lot of riots from the people because people didn t want
to be apart of this war now more than ever. When more problems started to occur to
Lyndon Johnson he decided to come out publicly and say that he will not be
running for president in the next election. This started to give the people a feeling
that they felt they have won, and believed anything was now possible. When
Lyndon Johnson s presidency was over Richard Nixon won the election and one of
the first things he started was the major situation that was growing on in Vietnam.
Although the first few years in office he still was battling in Vietnam, in 1973 he
signed the Paris Peace Accords which was the treaty that ended America s
participation in Vietnam. This was seen as the first war that the United States has
lost, leading to Nixon to be the first president to lose a war. The final problem that
lead to this war being one of the biggest conflicts the United States has

Especially in a scene where Bickle saves a manВЎВЇs life from a robbery where he
gets away with murder as the clerk would beat up the dead manВЎВЇs body. Though
it might have seem gruesome at the time, Scorsese doesnВЎВЇt pull back where he
doesnВЎВЇt give any clear answer of Bickle, in the terms of becoming normal. This
is by far some top notch directing from one of NYCВЎВЇs greatest visionaries.
In Taxi Driver, Scorsese manages his camera angles and editing to emphasize
Travis seeing the world through glass or mirrors, especially the windshield and
rear view mirror of the taxi, through which all major characters enter Taxi Driver:
Betsy through the panes of an all glass office; Palantine through his rear view
mirror; and Iris and Sport in a fleeting glance in his mirror. As Travis meets with a
black market gun dealer, and in this scene the weapon literally becomes the organ
of perception. Scorsese situates his camera on Travis arm as that arm takes the
weapon and slowly pans it across the window looking down on the street below.
Finally, in the scene which has made Travis Bickle a cinematic icon ( Are you
talking to me? ), Travis looks into his mirror, challenges imaginary adversaries, and
draws his various weapons in assault. The ambiguity of the image is poignant:
Travis looks into a mirror and makes a self destructive gesture foreshadowing his
attempted suicide at the climax of the film, and Travis peers through the looking glass

Enzyme Design Lab
Research Question:
At what temperature does an enzyme react at its optimum rate?
Background Information:
Hydrogen Peroxide is a by product of many biological and chemical functions of
organism. Although it is toxic, it still remains in our cells. To counter the hydrogen
peroxide we produce something called a catalase. This means that with a catalase, it
can cause the chemical reaction to speed up the reaction of the Hydrogen Peroxide
so that it does not come in contact with our cells. The enzymes that are being used in
this lab, whichever catalase it may be, has an optimal or room temperature of 37В°C.
When the the chosen enzyme catalase is exposed to hydrogen peroxide, it begins to
decompose into the water mixed with the oxygen gas in the air. This means that
when an enzyme is damaged, it is no longer able to work as a catalyzer in a chemical
reaction.
When the potato is placed in the hydrogen peroxide mixture the reaction will happen
once the start of bubbles arise and the metabolic reaction process of decomposition.
This will happen because the reaction is caused by the catalase and the enzyme
within the potato.
Hypothesis:
If we heat up the water to a temperature higher than room temperature, then the length
of reaction will increase.

The Song Is Relevant Today
Imagine a world where there is no war, famine does not exist, the poor have all the
money they need, and everybody does their part to help others. This to me is the
world the song describes, this is something that is not too late to achieve. This is a
topic that is still relevant today because peace is a goal everybody strives to achieve,
but no matter how hard people try to achieve peace it is always just out of grasp.
The general idea of the song is you can make the world a better place for those who
still can enjoy it if you just be kind and help others, or to sum it up peace. For
example in the song it says ... There are people dying If you care enough for the
living Make a better place for you and for me this to me means that their are
Jungle Dances
Thump. Thump. The drums beat with a steady rhythm as men and women alike
danced across the dirt floor. Jungle dances were Arden s favorite thing about her
large kingdom. Her long, black cloak hid her identity as the daughter of King
Toguro, the most feared and respected man in the country. As princess it was her
duty to sit in the palace and pretend to be a perfect girl with no opinions or
problems. Nothing but a pretty face. She got everything she asked for, but only if
she sat still with perfect posture talking to nobody, unless they talked to her first.
Arden seemed to be obedient, but strict parents make sneaky children. Arden
always kept a sharp knife tucked away at all times for a sense of protection when
wandering town. Her long, dark, hair was put in two braids with thousands of
flyaway pieces. Arden almost didn t notice when a large group of palace guards
rode their horses to the dancing arena. She backed her way through the crowd. The
rhythm stopped as abruptly as the soldier s arrival. Attention civilians, a fat guard
read from a scroll. There has been a great incident in the jungle. Arden dared to step
closer, intrigued. A poison has been unleashed, killing wildlife. Shocked villagers
gasped. The king has demanded that one brave soul must investigate, and it must be
one of you, considering the other villages had the nerve to oppose. Mothers hushed
their crying babies and held their young ones tight. If no one volunteers, an
expendable soul will be

Conclusion
In conclusion, I prefer Victoria s Secret brand products over their competitors for
the style, experience, and the loyalty program. I love the feel of the material when
I am wearing the bras and panties, the smell of the perfume and lotions. I know I
get good customer service when I walk into the store for my purchases and their
online or by phone customer service is also top notch. The convenience of making

Antonio Lucio Vivaldi Inspiration
The renowned baroque composer, Antonio Lucio Vivaldi, was born on the 4th of
March, 1678, in Venice, Italy to Giovanni Battista Vivaldi and Camilla Calicchio.
During childhood, he found himself surrounded by his five siblings, Margarita
Gabriela, Cecilia Maria, Bonaventura Tomaso, Zanetta Anna, and Francesco
Gaetano Giovanni Battista. Francesco, like Vivaldi, would find music to be his
calling. He would later teach a young Vivaldi the art of the violin. Vivaldi s younger
years were hard for him; he suffered from strettezza di petto, tightness of the chest; in
other words, he had asthma. His asthma would prevent him from playing any wind
instruments for the rest of his life. When Vivaldi became a young adult, he pursued
priesthood, finally being ordained in 1703 when he was 25.... Show more content on

Vivaldi played a solo accompaniment excellently, and at the conclusion he added a

played, or ever will play, in such a fashion (Johann Friedrich Armand von
Uffenbach). Vivaldi composed the majority of his works at the orphanage; over
sixty religious vocal pieces, multiple sonatas and cantatas, and an absolute multitude
of concertos. He was appointed maestro de concerti (music director) in 1716, after
having been voted out of the position of maestro di coro (choirmaster) a year earlier
due to not matching standards. Of course, matching said standards was
extraordinarily difficult as he had to compose an entire concerto by every evening
meal, a tall order for even the most prolific of
Lateral Plantar Nerve Entrapment Research Paper

The FBI strengthened its capabilities by establishing three new squads of about 30
agents in Washington, D.C., New York, and Los Angeles. In the first major initiative
to be announced by Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch, in September 2015 the U.S.
Department of Justice (DoJ) responded to criticism of its lack of prosecutions of Wall
Street criminals. It issued a memo to federal prosecutors nationwide, written by
Deputy Attorney General Sally Q. Yates and known as the Yates Memo, that outlined
new policies that prioritize the prosecution of individual employees.
The Yates Memo also put pressure on corporations to turn over evidence against
their executives, reported the New York Times. Because the memo lays out
guidelines, not laws, its effect will be determined largely by how Justice Department
officials interpret it. And several of the points in the memo merely codify policy that
is already in place.
Some observers believe the Yates Memo may result in unintended consequences.

Descriptive Essay About Home
My definition for home is indescribable by word or by a simple thought, but home
is rather of a feeling. Home is the calmness and serenity that settles over me like a
blanket on a cold, snowy night, just a silent assurance telling me I belong there. It
took me quite a bit of time to understand where exactly that place is, and I didn t
know that the answer was always right in front of me. This feeling would come and
go, and I would never recognize it because I knew that only the house I lived in was
my home. Home is in fact more than what the words in the dictionary say.

During lunch, my grandma and mother would cook in the kitchen and set up the
food in the big picnic basket to later share with everyone. We would walk along to
the field and my job was to carry the cold water jug. As we reached the field, all the
farmers would smile and greet us, and some would even admire me for being such a
helper. At lunchtime, I sat there along with all those workers, eating with them and
listening. Their conversations mostly consist of the weather and how they could
improve the rice farm. Often, I would make a comment saying, Don t worry, I will

There was a tiny pond with a small bridge in beside our old house. The water was

hair tied back, a true fisher look , I thought. I put my biggest toe in first to check if
the water was cold, but I always ended up soaking myself all the way, up to my
head trying to catch as much fish as I could. My friends and I filled that bright pink
bucket full and our hearts were filled with the sense of achievement of the day.
Often, we were kind enough to give some fish to the cat that sat on the bridge

The Discovery Of A Forensic Anthropologist And Mystery...
Introduction
In many years, scientific and technological principles have been portrayed and
been popular in many television shows and movies. In year 2005, a television
show that is based on real life story of a forensic anthropologist and mystery novels
writer Keith Reich was made to a television show. Hart Hanson created the shows
entitled Bones on which the story is based on a forensic anthropologist who is
teamed up with FBI agent that focus on scientific process to solved the mystery of
human remains, specifically human bones. In many episodes of Bones, the scientific
process that always present is on how the team can manage to identify the human
remains with the process of carbon dating that became a topic of interest of many
critics and viewers of the shows. Like many science oriented shows, bones was
made from Hollywood that viewers questioned or argued about how the science
process or carbon dating can really identify the age of human remains and how
accurate the show bones in real life.
Carbon dating
According to Brad Peroney (2014), Carbon dating compares the amount of
radioactive carbon to ordinary carbon in old objects to figure out how long ago
something, or someone lived (Peroney, 2014). Carbon dating also called as
radioactive carbon or carbon 14 dating is a method of age determination that depends
upon the decay to nitrogen of radiocarbon (carbon dating, 2015).Carbon 14 is
continually formed in nature by the interaction of neutrons with nitrogen 14 in the
Technology And Its Impact On The Business
Founded in Taiwan in 1972, today CX technology is a leading supplier in cold
forging and plastic injection components and parts. Originally, CX technology
produced bullets and bicycle parts, however, this had changed due to shift in
consumer demand towards speakers and component parts exclusively. CX
Technology had the ability to deliver specific products on time, which earned the
firm very significant recognition over the years. They had earned a name for
themselves based on their reliability and high quality products, most of their sales
revenue came from satisfied repeat customers. In 2007, Chairman Albert Ting had
determined that changes needed to be made at CX Technology. He had determined
that revenue was reasonably stable, however, the rate of attaining new businesses
was not reassuring. CX was a leading supplier in cold forged components for
speakers, however, these were a commodity product, and furthermore the supply
chain was capable of possibly being consolidated. Ting needed a plan in order to
secure CX Technology s future, he needed to diversify and determine a way to
develop the business.
Despite CX Technology blossoming in the speaker production, the company needed a
contingency plan. The growth of countries like China and United States in the
technology field would lead to the CX sales revenue. CX Technology needed another
plan as an added advantage in case the company s demand reduces. This contingency
plan may include the production of new products that

Fashion And Fads In The 1980 s
Imagine you were doing a research paper on a decade such as the 1980s. Where
would you start? With the economy? With politics? How about we start off with
the latest fashion and fads. Women in the 1980s wore Big Hair or a Mullet with
jean jackets and vans. Lots of teens wore Chuck Taylors (Converse). Little girls wore
jelly shoes, the only shoes you could wear without socks. What decade would
research and where would you start from? I m researching the decade called The
1980s . Topics I ve researched are fashion/fads, music/dance, recreation/leisure,
politics, economy, values/culture, inventions/technology/print, and lastly, sports.
Sounds like a lot of research, but it s pretty interesting if you think about it. There s
a lot a decades to find and research. Find the one you re interested in and start
researching! Fashion was all the rage back in the 1980s. Mostly men and women
wore a mullet, kids wore their jelly shoes, and teens had their boom boxes. But
there s way more to it than fashion. There s also fads. Fads such as the slangs

ANCIENT ARCHITECTURE
Luxor Temple and Saint Peter s Basilica
I.OVERVIEW
The two pieces of art that I have chosen to compare are The Luxor Temple located
in Luxor, Egypt and Saint Peter s Basilica located within Vatican City of Rome,
Italy. The ancient design has fostered some of its styles and characteristics into
future generations, and also upheld the mysteries of phenomenal architecture over
the centuries. I believe the Luxor Temple and Saint Peter s Basilica are good pieces
for comparison. The details and the architectural features between both of these great
Arts show ingenuity, symmetry, geometry and balance from two very diverse time
periods. The aspects of their values, religious beliefs, culture, and mythology play
key roles in the beliefs of both timepieces of Art. The architectural medium is not
only impressive, but it is captivating to the eye as well. One can only marvel at the
unique wonders of ancient civilization.

The Company s First Warehouse Operating Under The

The company s first location was opened in 1976 under the name of Price Club.
Originally it served only small businesses, but later on it found that it could increase
its sales by extending its services to non business members. The first warehouse
operating under the name, Costco, began functioning in 1983 in Seattle, Washington.
In 1993 Costco and Price Club merged. Today, the company operates under Costco
Wholesale name and has its warehouses all across the world. As of the end of 2015
it has close to 700 warehouses in total located in United States, Canada, United

In addition, it operates gasoline stations and manufacturing businesses such as special
food packaging, optical laboratories and meat processing. Costco is open only to its
members and offers three membership types for purchase: Business, Gold Star and
the Executive membership.
Investment Risk Factors
Costco has many risks associated with its financial and operational performance. One
of the biggest risks that Costco is facing todays is the competition from other retailers
and wholesalers, such as Wal Mart and Target. Costco compete with its competitors
for customers, qualified employees and management personnel, suitable sites and
suppliers. The retail business is extremely competitive and continues to get even more
completive. Such events as the evolution of retailing in online channels has improved
the ability of customers to compare prices and products and as a result enhanced
competition. Any significant increases of competition may adversely affect Costco s
financial performance, and make Costco incapable to compete successfully in the
future.
Majority of Costco warehouses is located in U.S. and Canada. Therefore, Costco s
financial and operational performance is highly dependent on U.S. and Canadian
operations. Within the U.S. it is highly dependent on its California operations, which
contained almost third of U.S. net sales. Any substantial decline in California
operations could

How To Start An Essay About Myself.pdf

  • 1. How To Start An Essay About Myself Writing an essay about oneself, especially on the topic of "How To Start An Essay About Myself," can be a challenging endeavor. The difficulty lies in striking a balance between self- expression and engaging the reader's interest without sounding overly self-centered or boastful. It requires introspection, the ability to identify key experiences, and the skill to narrate them in a compelling way. The challenge begins with the introduction – finding that perfect hook that captures the reader's attention while setting the tone for the entire essay. It's about avoiding clichГ©s and crafting a unique opening that reflects one's personality and sets the stage for what follows. Navigating through personal experiences can be delicate. There's a fine line between sharing enough to make the essay personal and relatable, and oversharing to the point of making the reader uncomfortable. The challenge lies in selecting the most relevant and impactful moments that contribute to a coherent narrative. Additionally, maintaining a balance between humility and confidence is crucial. It's important to showcase strengths and achievements without coming across as arrogant, and to acknowledge weaknesses or challenges without sounding self-pitying. Crafting a conclusion that leaves a lasting impression adds another layer of difficulty. Summing up the essay while leaving the reader with something to ponder requires finesse and skill. Despite these challenges, the process of writing such an essay can be a valuable exercise in self- reflection and self-expression. It allows individuals to delve into their own experiences, explore their identity, and articulate their thoughts in a coherent manner. For those who find this task daunting, assistance is available. Similar essays and much more can be ordered on platforms like HelpWriting.net, where professional writers can help navigate the intricacies of self-expression, ensuring that the final product is not only well-written but also genuinely reflective of the individual's unique personality and experiences. • 2. The Hot Hand Theory Of Basketball Is A Fallacy Essay Evidence presented throughout the last forty years has suggested that the Hot Hand theory in basketball is a fallacy. Evidence suggested that there is no scientific reasoning for being able to improve one s odds of making a jump shot, if the previous three shots were made. New evidence presented by, Andrew Bocskocsky, John Ezekowitz, and Carolyn Stein, suggested that there is a better chance of making a shot if the previous three shots have been made. The authors have used equations that take into account different aspects of the game, which could influence hotness. Previously, these variables have not been taken into account, which could have possibly skewed the data. The evidence in the peer reviewed journal article, has taken into account all aspects of the game that could influence the probability that a shot will, or will not go in. In the article Bocskocsky, Ezekowitz, and Stein, used a data set from 83,000 shot attempts throughout the 2012 2013 NBA season. From each shot taken, stats were recorded regarding the different aspects of the shot. First off, shot difficulty needs to be taken into account. Who is taking the shot will influence the probability of the shot going in, depending if it is a high percentage three point shooter taking the shot, or a center taking the three point shot. Another factor that has been taken into account is the amount of time left, and score differential. These two factors will heavily influence the mindset of the

  • 4. Essay on The Myths of the African American Woman Defying the Myths of the African American Woman Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, Song of Solomon, and Push Throughout slavery, myths were created about African American women. These myths of yesterday have tainted the image of the African American woman today. These myths include two major ideas, the first being that all African American women are perceived as more promiscuous than the average white woman. The second myth is that black women are virtually useless, containing only the capabilities of working in white homes and raising white children. These myths caused these women to be degraded in the eyes of others as well as themselves. Harriet Jacobs, Toni Morrison, and Sapphire are three African American... • 5. Stephen King s Autopsy Room Four Stephen Edwin King was born on September 21, 1947, in Portland, Maine. King is one of the most successful horror writers of all time. His parents split up when he was very young, and he and his brother divided their time between Indiana and Connecticut for several years. King later moved back with his mother and brother. Then he graduated from Lisbon Falls High School. King then attended the University of Maine. He wrote for the school s newspaper. King also published his first writing while in college. After graduating, he tried to find a position as a teacher, but he had no luck. King still continued to write stories in his free time until he later started working as an English teacher. King later married and had three children: Naomi, Joseph, and Owen. King uses many of his past experiences in his stories, such as in Pet Sematary when his own cat died and he had to bury it in an animal graveyard. Stephen King also uses very realistic imagery in his stories. He also tends to include a lot of brand names that can sometimes be too much, although it does provide the realism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He shows this evil in every one of his stories in many different ways. It varies from corruption, superstition, human flaws, or other flat out creepy ways. In Autopsy Room Four , a man is mistaken to be dead and is brought to the autopsy room to begin operations. Throughout the whole story, King keeps you on edge and guessing on the man s fate. The stupidity of the doctors almost ends up killing him. He survives the ordeal. Another major theme is misery. King likes to put his characters in deep emotional stress or confusion. That s what all of the stories I read have in common. I ve read Autopsy Room Four , The Man in the Black Suit , All That You Love Will Be Carried Away , and In the Deathroom . They all gave me chills, and I also don t recommend you read them before going to
  • 6. Premature Infant Stimulation It is known that then stimulation of infants during the first few months is important for proper development to take place. Following, we will review the importance of both a stimulating environment and the need for physical stimulation provided by caregivers. A lot of emphasis has been placed on physical, mother infant, interaction, but studies have shown that inanimate stimulation is as important as social stimulation. Yarrow, Rubenstein, Pedersen, and Jankowski (1972) examined the importance of stimulation from caregiver interaction and the natural environment. The emphasis of their work was to study the impact of disadvantaged environments on infant development. What their work did show was that the environment of the infant was just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When we look at infants in orphanages in Romania, we find children that are deprived of the complex physical contact normally received by other children that have a dedicated caregiver. These children show serious intellectual deficits, and although they show improvement later, they never catch up to their peers who were raised in more traditional environments (Berk, 2014). When we look at premature infants, who spend a large amount of their time in incubators, we find that they show slower gains in mass and motor function then their peers. Now, when premature infants are given 15 minutes of mechanosensory stimulation, three times a day for ten days, they show an increase in weight along with more time awake and active. They also would show more improvement than their unstimulated peers based on the Brazelton Neonatal Behavioral Assessment Scale (Ardiel Rankin, 2010) The effects of stimulation on infant development cannot be understated. The more research that has gone into the importance of this the more emphasis is placed on attempting to correct sensory deprivation. In hospital NICUs we see more interaction with children that are born premature. We are also seeing a greater emphasis on placing orphaned children into homes where they can benefit from direct caregiver contact and have a more stimulating environment to explore. Now, more than in the past, we see the need
  • 7. Agatha Christie Dysgraphia Agatha Christie Dysgraphia It was quite true and I knew and accepted it. It did not worry or distress me. I was always resigned to being the slow one (ResearchGate). This is what Agatha Christie said one day when she realized she had a very serious disease, now known as dysgraphia. Christie s dysgraphiacaused her many challenges in her lifetime, but it never stopped her from being an amazing, bestselling novelist. In the United States, anywhere from five to thirty three percent of elementary children deal with some level of dysgraphia (Adam), a writingdisability. Other names for dysgraphia include backwards writing, developmental output failure, and math disability (Siegel). When a child has dysgraphia, there is a problem with the writing process; therefore, the children have trouble writing (Richards 63). Some of the victims of dysgraphia have trouble forming letters, while others can form letters but not very quickly (Paquette 88). It was once said, As students struggle with the process, they become preoccupied and can t let their ideas flow onto the page (89). Although there are many devices to help with the disease, there are very few ways to overcome dysgraphia. One of the tools one can use to help a child with dysgraphia is graphic organizers. Another tool someone can use is special education services in the school. Most schools offer very good special education services which can help children with many challenges, including dysgraphia (91). Other tools commonly used may include a spell checker (93), word prediction software, and text to speech tools (259). Many teachers also suggest keeping a list of commonly misspelled words and having a note taker. Teachers may also use oral tests instead of written tests to eliminate stress (93). One can also use the checkbook programs companies provide (259). Dysgraphia is caused by an issue between two main brain systems (Paquette 89). Some of the symptoms of dysgraphia may include cramped fingers, inconsistent formations and slants to letters, unfinished cursive writing, decreased speed of writing, and poor organization on the page (Richards 63). There are five different kinds of dysgraphia. The first is known as motor dysgraphia, and symptoms may
  • 8. Swimsuit For Muslim Women Research Paper Burkini ban is ridiculous The burkini is a type of swimsuit for women. It is also suitable for Muslim women to wear for swimming because it covers the whole body except the face, hands and feet. Wearing burkini became a worldwide topic of discussion when France banned the use or wear this swimsuit, citing a possible show support for terrorists including Islamic State. However, clothing ban is a gross violation of civil rights and cultural rights. First, the clothing ban is the violation of civil rights because all people should receive equal treatment in society and individuals freedom in living. For example, recently, four armed French police forced a Muslimwomanwho was lying on a beach in Nice to take off her burkini. Then she was ordered off the beach and was fined. When the museum first opened, there were nineteen art acquisitions on display, all public outdoor sculptures, establishing the mission statement of making art a part of everyday life. The first building the MOA offices resided in was Orchard Falls in Greenwood Village; since then, the museum moved four or five times within the Arapahoe county. Currently, the Museum of Outdoor Arts occupies a space in the Englewood Civic Center on the second floor across from the courts. In 2000, MOA moved from Greenwood Village to Englewood, incorporating indoor galleries, offices, and a workshop studio into the new location. Five to six staff members run the museum, hiring interns and independent contractors as needed. A board of trustees and an advisory committee guide the policies of the museum and make legal decisions. The board of trustees has four members consisting of the President of the Board, the Vice President, the Treasurer, and the Secretary, while the advisory committee has eight members. The museum curates and manages over 200 art pieces within its collection. The museum acquires at least one new art piece a year to exhibit in one of the public locations the museum manages. Marjorie Park in Greenwood Village and the Englewood Civic Center Sculpture Garden are the two main sites for MOA to exhibit acquisitions and large pieces from the collection. Marjorie Park, formally
  • 10. Discussing the Stability of the Weimar Republic Essay... Discussing the Stability of the Weimar Republic When the First World War ended in 1918, Germany was left with many problems to resolve. She was blamed for the war and was a country in much distress. From the years between 1918 and 1928 Germany faced many problems, before beginning to find her feet again. After the system of the Kaiser had been got rid of, Germany had to decide on a new constitution. It was decided that all Germans had equal rights, and that all parties had a chance because of Proportional Representation which meant political parties were allocated seats in Parliament in proportion to the number of votes they got. A strong president was necessary because Article 48 said that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Germans responded to the invasion by passive resistance, this lead to hyper inflation. Hyper inflation meant that the government kept printing more money in order to pay the workers for the passive resistance. This soon got out of hand and money soon be came incredibly worthless. This made Weimar Republicunstable as their money was worthless, the public were loosing money and things were spinning out of control. So in 1923, Gustav Stresemann, the chancellor, decided that Germany would give into France. He ended the policy of passive resistance in the Ruhr. To some German parties this was seen as weak, but it was actually a very sensible move, as now the worthless money could be burnt and the temporary currency, the Rentenmark could be bought in to help get the country back on it s feet, which in turn would help stabilise Germany again. The German government then agreed to start paying reparations again. And in 1924 The Dawes Plan made a huge loan of 800 million marks available to Germany. This also helped stabilise Germany, as they were now paying reparations again and sticking to the Treaty of Versailles. Then in 1925 Germany signed the Locarno Treaty which guaranteed Germany s frontiers with France and Belgium, and in 1926, as a result of her co operation over Locarno, Germany was allowed into the League

Two of his best known works are entitled #61505;Dover Beach #61504; and #61505;The Buried Life. #61504; Although the exact date of composition is unknown, clearly they were both written in the early 1850s. The two poems have in common various characteristics, such as the theme and style. The feelings of the speakers of the poem also resemble each other significantly. Source III is a quotation from Arthur Schopenhauer and he states that people whose self worth needs enhancing, will resort to their shared sense of belonging to their nation state. Schopenhauer says when one is apart of a nation they are ready and happy to defend all its faults . This is a type of devotion an individual illustrates when they are prideful of its nation. For example, the Nazi party was under Hitler s rule who did not have the most pleasant ideas when it came to diminishing the cultures he had no desire for. Hitler slaughtered multiple minority groups because he wanted to create his own master race which was called the Aryans. This race would consist of people who had a pure German ethnicity, blond hair, light skin, and blue

Evaluation And Synopsis Of The Event Written Evaluation/Synopsis of the Event Our event was complicated from the beginning; however, our group managed a brand new event for the Undergraduate Communication Association through the guidance of Jessica Thompson and Josh Nesselrodt as our clients and the hard work of our team. The event that our group hosted was Pathfinder, a communication driven discussion of both academics and career opportunities through two panels. The event, sponsored by the Pepsi Enhancement fund, despite conquering several great feats as a new event with high reviews from attendees, a few things did not go as we panned for our event. However, we would like to discuss various others in which we took much pride. First, we had originally discussed a later date that gave us some leeway with how we were going to present marketing materials as well as the social media strategy to promote our event properly. Pressed for time, we cut our event time by a few weeks. This led to a few issues as we had much to do in little time. We were able to get flyers out to the campus area as well as promote through our Facebook event and the University of Maryland s UCA Twitter handle. Another victory for our group was our attendance. For the timing of the event being on campus on Friday midday, we were able to pull a small group of an attentive audience. Those that were there were engaged and in reviews, said they had found the information very useful to their lives perusing communication. Panelists as well
  • 14. Literary Analysis Of Rachel Hadas Questions In The... In the collection of poems Questions in the Vestibule, Rachel Hadas explores the different emotions she experiences after the death of her husband. Hadas had lost two very important men in her life. During the Writers at Newark reading, Hadas explained how she lost both her Father and her late husband. They both had a large impact on her work. Her father, Moses Hadas, was a classical scholar and a translator of classical works. He died when she was seventeen years old. She follows in her father s footsteps and translates classical works just like him. Her late husband, George Edwards, was a music composer and professor of music at Columbia University. Her work is a reflection of both men and they both are mentioned in her most recent project. In Questions in the Vestibule, Rachel is still processing the death of George. During this time, she feels this in between feeling. Hadas defines a vestibule, before she reads her poems, as a place where you are neither truly in or out. The vestibule is a true emotional representation of in between or confusion. Hadas explores the metaphorical vestibule emotionthrough form and voice which became more clear because of the way she chose to read the text. Hadas used form in very different ways during the reading when reciting her poem Equipoise. The poem is in the Petrarchan Sonnetform. The form consists of two stanzas. The first stanza is eight lines, or the octave, and poses a question. The second stanza has six lines and is a sestet. This second stanza is the answer to the question or a counter to the first stanza. There is a turn or volta between the eighth and ninth lines which begins the switch from the question to the answer. Oddly, Hadas breaks the form by not rhyming certain lines. This makes the reading more interesting and makes the poem somewhat unfamiliar. Hadas volta capitalizes on the theme of the in between. The hopelessness in the first stanza turns into prospects for the future to come, by the time the second stanza comes around. Hadas writes, Cuplike, this little valley brims with sun. Pages fill and empty (96). She describes different objects that are void or lost. The valley was once a mountain that was broken down by erosion to create an empty

Since Shostakovich was unable to express his ideas about Communism openly, he had to resort to sarcasm to show his resentment to the party. But how can one prove that Shostakovich used sarcasm in his works? Sarcasm in nonvocal works is usually evident when lots of techniques from different style periods are used. This creates contrast and exaggeration in a piece to represent sarcasm ( Dmitri ). Several works of Shostakovich demonstrate this technique, but one of the more well known pieces is the Leningrad symphony. In Shostakovich s 7th Symphony, otherwise known as the Leningrad symphony, he uses a great deal of Sarcasm. During the time when the symphony was written, Shostakovich and his family were in Leningrad when the Nazis sieged the city. As the war continued, the symphony became a song of the Russian resistance against Germany ( Dmitri ). The true intentions of the symphony have been highly debated. When taken at face value, it appears that Shostakovich was attempting to conform to the Soviet standards and write a piece full of patriotic themes, but when taking a more in depth look, it can be said that the piece has a double meaning (Simon, Politics ). In order to save himself from the threat of being taken away by the Secret Police, Shostakovich wrote the piece to please Soviet authorities. He portrays Russia as

  • 21. William Wordsworth s The World Is Too Much With Us There s Something About Nature In the same way Ted had lost touch with Mary, humans have lost their connection with nature. William Wordsworth, in his poem, The World is Too Much With Us; Late and Soon, illustrates the careless attitude of humans towards nature and all it has to offer. In this Italian sonnet, the narrator, who is Wordsworth himself, is standing on a grassy area overlooking the sea while wishing he could see the glory of nature which humanity has chosen to disregard. He also expresses the frustration that he has towards all of humanity for choosing to neglect the raw beauty and joy that nature has to offer by destroying its beauty with material objects. The language that Wordsworth uses in this Italian sonnet engenders a feeling of depression that makes the audience feel ashamed and almost embarrassed to be associated with the nature of humans not to acknowledge the beauty that they are surrounded by. Wordsworth is frustrated with the way humans act and ignore the beauty of the natural world around them by acquiring materialistic things, thus showing not only his irritation and disappointment in society, but also his irritated tone he has throughout the sonnet. Through his use of personification and imagery, Wordsworth is able to communicate that humans, in general, have become detached from nature and it s beauty because of their infatuation of materialistic objects. The first section of this sonnet begins with a powerful statement of opinion from

  • 23. Complexity And Algorithms That Can Take An Impossible... Complexity and Tractability The area of tractability explores problems and algorithms that can take an impossible amount of computation to solve. Tractable problems can be roughly defined as problems that can be solved in a reasonable amount of time, while intractable problems are those which take too long to solve to be useful. Finding solutions to these problems is a key problem in computer science today and has been for many years. It is also important for a computer scientist to recognise intractable problems as it would be a huge waste of time trying to write a program to an intractable problem. It would be better to recognise this and take a different more suitable approach that would save time and effort but also would come up with a valid solution. However there are advantages to making a problem intractable though as when securing things using intractable codes which cannot be hacked into easily. Complexity can be simply defined as a rough estimation of amount of time it takes a particular algorithm to solve a problem. This is not only measured in time but can be expressed as the number of steps taken in order to solve a problem. It is important to be able to measure the complexity of a problem as this can help to indicate how good/effective an algorithm will be and whether it is tractable or not.One of the most popular intractable problems that has been found is the Traveling Salesman problem. This problem represents a salesman who wants to find the shortest

The Decisive Outcome Of The Napoleonic Wars Thesis Statement: This paper shall attempt to show the reasons for the need of this campaign and why this campaign was important to the decisive outcome of the Napoleonic Wars [1787 1815]. Historical Background: In 1803, the War of the Third Coalition began against France. In this coalition, the powers of the United Kingdom, Austria, Russia, and Sweden went to war against France to reestablish order on the old continent of Europe. In the War of the Third Coalition two major battles of the Napoleonic wars were seen: Austerlitz and Trafalgar both were decisive in their tides of the war efforts. In the end, Austria would be forced into a surrender, and the Confederation of the Rhine would occur. This would leave the United Kingdom as one of the few states at war with France for the safety of Europe. By 1808, Napoleon was marching on many of the old states (again): Austria, Prussia, and Spain. With the French invasion of Spain and Portugal, the British were forced to send troops to the Iberian Peninsula. Following a series of defeats and almost the complete loss of Lisbon, the United Kingdom placed Arthur Wellesley (who would later become known as the Duke of Wellington) in command of the Iberian Forces for the defense of Portugal, thereby, beginning the great campaign in Spain, known only as, the Peninsula Campaign. The reason for the historical significance of the Peninsula Campaign of 1808 to 1814 is thusly this: with growing number of British troops in the underbelly of

Today, we will learn together from the passage 1 Corinthians 12:12 27 in which Paul uses a metaphor of a body to describe diversity and unity in the body of Christ and its functions and how do we need to take care of those who are facing extreme persecution. Slide 2 Using metaphors were and still are pretty common in the Middle Eastern culture to obtain deeper understanding of a phenomenon. In the Old Testament, the term body mostly refers to the physical body. But here Paul uses the term body in a metaphorical way to help its readers to understand the intertwine relationship in the universal

Birth Of Americ Analysis Stanyslav Borsh Us History 2 9 2 2014 Birth of America Questions Analysis Questions Please answer each of the following in at least a paragraph, using specific evidence as support. 1. What issue or issues were at the heart of American grievances towards the British government? Provide two specific examples. one example that the Americans had grievances towards the British was that the British imposed different taxes on the colonies. The British had needed money after the Seven years war so in order to get that the British made the Stamp Act. This was a tax that was made on all legal documents and newspapers to be printed on a special Stamp paper in order to know that the person had paid the tax. The second tax to be imposed on the colonies was the Townshend Tax, which would tax any commodities entering the colonies. This had angered the colonies even more than before because the colonies lacked representation in Parliament. This in turn created the term No taxation without representation! 2. Why did violence break out between the colonists and British troops? Was this justified? Explain your position. Violence had broken out between the two group because the British were doing things that had upset the colonist. For example the soldiers were competing the colonists for jobs. Also violence broke out after the colonists dumped 18000 pounds of tea into the Boston Harbor, after the Tea Act was established. I do think that some actions that were taken are justified but
  • 33. Kornfield No Self In No Self or True Self, Jack Kornfield believes that meditation and spiritual practice allows us to figure out who we really are as human beings. In order to do this, he believes that we need to accomplish two tasks; discover selflessness and develop a healthy sense of self. A person needs to realize and learn that we all coexist and that a single identitydoesn t define someone, in order to live a fulfilling and awakening life. Kornfield s account of the selfis logical and good because a person would be nowhere and not succeed in life without the help of others around them and everyone changes over time including their identity. The first task that a person needs to accomplish to be able to awaken is to discover selflessness. Kornfield says, We do not exist as separate human beings (199). This means that we all depend on one another. I agree with statement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some might argue that reclamation is a negative aspect of developing a healthy sense of self. According to Kornfield, In reclamation, we bring attention to understanding the painful conditions that created our weak, deficient, or barricaded sense of self (208). The act of bringing attention and revealing painful memories that a person stored away is like opening a healed wound back up. For some people, this can be extremely traumatic and can be hard to push forward to reach the end goal of a healthy sense of self. Although some may argue that reclamation does more harm than good to a person, Kornfield and I disagree. Kornfield believes that a person has to push through all of the hardships in order to have a healthy sense of self and in the end the person will feel much better. I agree because I believe that once you understand the pain and weakness, you grow stronger and can look past the bad and focus on the present. We all encounter challenges in our lives and the only way to move past them is to face them directly and overcome

Vietnam War Domino Effects Over the course of history America has been involved with multiple wars fought in many different parts of the world, giving America unfortunate experiences each time. But the Vietnam War was the one that gave America the biggest conflict due to the fact of how many different problems and negative outcomes it gave to the country. The Vietnam War started in the mid 1950 s (November 1st 1955) in the countries of North and South Vietnam. It was a war started from North Vietnam attempting to spread and take over South Vietnam, this led to the US then getting involved to attempt to prevent a spread of communism and more importantly prevent the domino effect that happened previously in WWII. There were two main sides to the war, North Vietnam which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Towards the beginning (JFK) the president who started to go indepth with the Vietnam War was assassinated, resulting in Lyndon Johnson to start to get more involved with the Vietnam War. He started to send more and more troops to Vietnam and having the government lie to the people to help gain more in numbers. Instead of trying to find ways to prevent warfare and destruction when the Gulf of Tolkien Incident came he used this as a way to wage war with North Vietnam (even though North Vietnam never fired against the United States). One thing that made a large impact on the United States was the fact that this was the first war to be televised, everyone saw what went on, including the truth. When the Tet offensive was launched against the South Vietnamese, everyone in the United States could see that America wasn t really winning the war. This lead to the draft and a large upset in the general public and a lot of riots from the people because people didn t want to be apart of this war now more than ever. When more problems started to occur to Lyndon Johnson he decided to come out publicly and say that he will not be running for president in the next election. This started to give the people a feeling that they felt they have won, and believed anything was now possible. When Lyndon Johnson s presidency was over Richard Nixon won the election and one of the first things he started was the major situation that was growing on in Vietnam. Although the first few years in office he still was battling in Vietnam, in 1973 he signed the Paris Peace Accords which was the treaty that ended America s participation in Vietnam. This was seen as the first war that the United States has lost, leading to Nixon to be the first president to lose a war. The final problem that lead to this war being one of the biggest conflicts the United States has

Though it might have seem gruesome at the time, Scorsese doesnВЎВЇt pull back where he doesnВЎВЇt give any clear answer of Bickle, in the terms of becoming normal. This is by far some top notch directing from one of NYCВЎВЇs greatest visionaries. In Taxi Driver, Scorsese manages his camera angles and editing to emphasize Travis seeing the world through glass or mirrors, especially the windshield and rear view mirror of the taxi, through which all major characters enter Taxi Driver: Betsy through the panes of an all glass office; Palantine through his rear view mirror; and Iris and Sport in a fleeting glance in his mirror. As Travis meets with a black market gun dealer, and in this scene the weapon literally becomes the organ of perception. Scorsese situates his camera on Travis arm as that arm takes the weapon and slowly pans it across the window looking down on the street below. Finally, in the scene which has made Travis Bickle a cinematic icon ( Are you talking to me? ), Travis looks into his mirror, challenges imaginary adversaries, and draws his various weapons in assault. The ambiguity of the image is poignant: Travis looks into a mirror and makes a self destructive gesture foreshadowing his attempted suicide at the climax of the film, and Travis peers through the looking glass and

  • 39. Enzyme Lab Report Amenah Ali Ms.Corbett IB Biology HL I Period 5 December 13, 2017 Enzyme Design Lab Research Question: At what temperature does an enzyme react at its optimum rate? Background Information: Hydrogen Peroxide is a by product of many biological and chemical functions of organism. Although it is toxic, it still remains in our cells. To counter the hydrogen peroxide we produce something called a catalase. This means that with a catalase, it can cause the chemical reaction to speed up the reaction of the Hydrogen Peroxide so that it does not come in contact with our cells. The enzymes that are being used in this lab, whichever catalase it may be, has an optimal or room temperature of 37В°C. When the the chosen enzyme catalase is exposed to hydrogen peroxide, it begins to decompose into the water mixed with the oxygen gas in the air. This means that when an enzyme is damaged, it is no longer able to work as a catalyzer in a chemical reaction. When the potato is placed in the hydrogen peroxide mixture the reaction will happen once the start of bubbles arise and the metabolic reaction process of decomposition. This will happen because the reaction is caused by the catalase and the enzyme within the potato. Hypothesis: If we heat up the water to a temperature higher than room temperature, then the length of reaction will increase. Variables: IV and DV and Control Variable Identification: Include Units. Comparison Between Luxor Temple And Saint Peter s Basilica ANCIENT ARCHITECTURE Luxor Temple and Saint Peter s Basilica I.OVERVIEW The two pieces of art that I have chosen to compare are The Luxor Temple located in Luxor, Egypt and Saint Peter s Basilica located within Vatican City of Rome, Italy. The ancient design has fostered some of its styles and characteristics into future generations, and also upheld the mysteries of phenomenal architecture over the centuries. I believe the Luxor Temple and Saint Peter s Basilica are good pieces for comparison. The details and the architectural features between both of these great Arts show ingenuity, symmetry, geometry and balance from two very diverse time periods. The aspects of their values, religious beliefs, culture, and mythology play key roles in the beliefs of both timepieces of Art. The architectural medium is not only impressive, but it is captivating to the eye as well. One can only marvel at the unique wonders of ancient civilization. The Luxor Temple Chinlung, Hsieh.
