Self Introduction Essay
Crafting a self-introduction essay may seem like a straightforward task, but the intricacies lie in
navigating the delicate balance between self-expression and self-promotion. The challenge begins
with the daunting task of encapsulating one's identity, experiences, and aspirations within the
confines of a limited word count.
The process of self-reflection required for such an essay is, in itself, a labyrinth. Deciding which
aspects of your life to highlight, and which to downplay, becomes a delicate dance. Striking the
right tone is no easy feat – being confident without appearing arrogant, humble without
undermining achievements. Every sentence carries the weight of creating a lasting impression,
making the writing process an exercise in self-analysis and introspection.
Moreover, the challenge extends beyond content to the structure and flow of the essay.
Arranging thoughts in a coherent manner, ensuring a logical progression, and maintaining the
reader's interest add layers of complexity. It's not just about narrating events chronologically; it's
about creating a narrative that captivates and resonates.
Editing becomes a crucial phase, demanding a discerning eye to spot redundancies, refine
language, and fine-tune the overall composition. Balancing the need for brevity with the desire
to convey a comprehensive picture of oneself can be a constant source of tension.
The difficulty lies not only in the technical aspects of writing but also in confronting one's own
vulnerabilities. Sharing personal anecdotes requires a certain level of vulnerability, and deciding
which aspects of one's life to expose can be emotionally taxing. The essay becomes a mirror
reflecting not just accomplishments but also the person behind them.
In the end, writing a self-introduction essay is not merely a task of putting words on paper; it's a
journey of self-discovery through the written word. The difficulty arises from the inherent
complexity of human identity and the challenge of articulating it in a way that is both authentic
and appealing.
And if, after grappling with this process, you find yourself in need of assistance, there are
resources available. Similar essays and more can be ordered on platforms likeHelpWriting.net,
where professionals can aid in navigating the intricate task of introducing oneself on paper.

Comparing Wife Of Bath And The Prioress In The
Canterbury...
The only two women most significant and described in great detail in The
Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer who provide the greatest insight into
contemporary medieval society are the Wife of Bath and the Prioress. These two
women appear similar in the General Prologue of the poem but, as we see through
their tales, they are quite unique women and most importantly very different from
one another. By examining both the Wife of Bath and the Prioress s tales, we are
able to see the stark contrast between their social standards and behavior. However, in
spite of the fact that these two ladies belong to two different social spheres, they
surprisingly share some common characteristics. The initial similarity between these
two women lies in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means, of course, that she has been five times widowed (no divorce for
women in 14th century England). This is rather surprising, but seems less so
when in her prologue we learn that three of the husbands were old men. Her habit
of going on pilgrimages suggests a devout woman, but her real reasons for such
travel are a love of adventure, and the social opportunities these trips bring. As in
the present case, most pilgrims are men and the few other women present are
nuns. One of them might be the next husband for whom she is looking out. The
Wife of Bath is most creatively portrayed and certainly most controversial. Alison,
as she is called, is a very outspoken woman with beliefs contrary to those of her
time, when a woman had little say. In her prologue, the Wife of Bath offends those
who look down on her because of her beliefs, and uses various biblical and religious
references to support her opinions on chastity, sex, and marriage. The Wife of
Bath, Dame Alice is quite a spiteful woman even though she desires only a few
simple things in life: power and control. Through her prologue and tale, she makes
mirror images of herself , which reflects the person who she really is. Chaucer
describes a nun Prioress called as Madame Eglantine. She had her nose well shaped,
her eyes bright as glass, her mouth very small and soft and read, an indeed she had a

Is Hadoop A Great Data Storage Choice And Hadoop...
Hadoop is a great data storage choice and Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS)
or Hive is often used to store transactional data in its raw state. The map reduce
processing supported by these Hadoop frameworks can deliver great performance,
but it does not support the same specialized query optimization that mature relational
database technologies do. Improving query performance, at this time, requires
acquiring query accelerators or writing code. Every company who chose to use

Hadoop excels with managing and processing file based data, especially when the
data is voluminous in the extreme and the data would not benefit from
transformation and loading into a DBMS. In fact, for the kinds of discovery
analytics involved with Hadoop, it s best to keep the data in its raw, source form.
This is why Hadoop has such a well deserved reputation with big data analytics.
Using the right combination of Hadoop products and the other platforms can be
sensational in terms of analytics because it has the capacity to analyze analysis of
petabytes of Web log data in large Internet firms, and now is being applied to similar
analytic applications involving call detail records in telecommunications, XML
documents in supply chain industries (retail and manufacturing), unstructured claims
documents in insurance, sessionized spatial data in logistics, and a wide variety of
log data from machines and sensors. Hadoop enabled analytics are sometimes
deployed in silos, but the

The Melting Point And Boiling Point
Results The results show that the highest melting point was 4 Hydroxybenzoic Acid
and the lowest melting point was Sulfosalicylic Acid. The highest boiling point was
Octanol and lowest boiling point was Methanol. When it came to the percent error the
highest percent error calculated was pentanol and the lowest percent error was
Propanol.
Discussion
During this lab the melting point ranges and boiling points were recorded from
several substances. Based upon the structures of these various samples certain
trends were expected to be followed. For example, with the melting points of pure
substances are usually higher than the melting points of impure substances. In this
lab the melting point of Benzoic Acid, Salicylic Acid, 3 Hydroxybenzoic Acid, 4
Hydroxybenzoic Acid, and Sulfosalicylic Acid were taken. If we apply the concept
of pure substances having higher boiling points, it was expected for substances like
3 Hydroxybenzoic Acid and 4 Hydroxybenzoic Acid to have higher melting points
and for substances like Benzoic Acid and Salicylic Acid to have lower melting
points. As for Sulfosalicylic Acid, its melting point was the lowest so it was assumed
that the substance was the most impure. It was proven that the fewer impurities call
for higher melting points. This is due to the crystalline lattices structure of repeating
ions or molecules. This lattice is held together by intermolecular forces that create a
strong, stable structure. The solid must be heated to a certain
The European Court Of Human Rights
and the European Court of Human Rights has entered a few judgments holding that
schools have been illegally segregated. Yet despite UNESCO s attempts to aid
Gypsy children, Fletcher believes that the European government is not trying hard
enough, since no European or national judicial or administrative organ has ordered
the cessation of segregation in any school, nor have they addressed the principal
means of evasion, white flight. Instead, they have left corrective action to
uncoordinated, unconstrained municipalities (Fletcher 919). Therefore, a small step
for European governments to take is to implement anti bullying programs in schools
starting in the younger grades. Additionally, they should promote an overall
atmosphere of acceptance in their countries, as a method of demonstrating that as a
developed continent, they have the means of helping the Gypsies and these must be
used. By promoting equality among the population, less bullying will be tolerated
and Gypsy children will be more comfortable going to school and becoming healthy
citizens. Moreover, adult Gypsy citizens who seek an education to gain
qualifications for getting a job, should also be granted access to education. With a
more educated population, Gypsies will be able to contribute to their nation s
economy and break free from a life of plagued by poverty, unemployment, and crime.

Determination Essay Entry Slip I decided to write about the word determination
because I have had to use determination many times in my own life. This essay was
very dreadful to write, so I compared it to the off brand cereal Crispy Rice. The title
of this essay, Determination , is simply the word that I had to describe throughout the
paper. It was one of our longest essayswe had to write, and it was difficult to fit
length requirements since the entire thing had to be centered around one word. I
had started off my brainstorming process by using an organizer with examples on
it with ideas I could write about. This is how I came up with most of the topics for
each body paragraph. I added in examples of well known people that achieved success
Life Blueprint
Your Life Blueprint Have you ever wanted to do an activity, but it has too many
obstacles that you have to face? Life is unpredictable and anything can happen at
any given moment. But how will you act the next time life gives you a roadblock or
a challenge? In the texts The Explosion, We Beat The Street, and the multimedia
clip October Sky, roadblocks happen quite often, and the sources show how
individuals are ready to overcome them in order to achieve their goals and blueprint.
In The Explosion, Homer faces not having support from his father and brother. While,
in We Beat The Street, the three doctors face having to grow up in a community
where whoever surrounds you is your friend/family. However in the multimedia clip

In all of the stories each of the roadblocks have influences, such as the setting,
people, and more. These influences affected the way they grew up and the way
they reacted towards certain things. For example in We Beat The Street the three
doctors (Rameck, George, and Sampson) grew up in a bad neighborhood in
Newark which was mostly gang area, so whoever they lived by meant they were
their friends. After hanging around them for a while they started to act like their
friends, and became obnoxious, jerks, and started to fool around a lot. This caused
them to be disrespectful to not only their friends and family but also their teachers.
Homer from the multimedia October Sky movie clip was influenced by where he
grew up because where he grew up no one really ever got a very nice job or
succeeded. Most people who grew up in Coalwood stayed in Coalwood and
worked in the mine. Injuries were often and when Homer s dad gets injured, in
order to still have a home and be able to live Homer has to work as a replacement
for his father in the coal mine. This caused him to appreciate what he has and made
him realize that he had to work if he wanted to do what he wanted, and what he
wanted was to go into space. After his dad recovered, Homer told his dad that he
hated coal mining. After this he started to really focus on his rocket for the
national science fair, that he ended up winning. Homer from October Sky was not
supported by his father and his brother. This caused him to want to attempt to prove
himself, so he began to work hard towards school and showed that he was more
capable of what his father thought he was, and that he was able to accomplish his
dream of working for NASA. This is how in all of the stories certain influences
affected them and how them made them who they are
Charlemagne And Einhard s Life Of Charlemagne
Charlemagne, translates into English as Charles the Great, was the King of the
Franks, who extended his domain to as far south as Italy. We gain from the two
accounts of Notker and Einhard that Charlemagne was instrumental in the spread of
culture and expressions to all edges of his kingdom. By nearly being partners with
the Papacy, he spread the Christian message to almost all of Europe. As a
consequence of his commitments in different fields, his rule was appropriately called
the Carolingian Renaissance. The two different biographies of Charlemagne, the first
version being titled Life of Charles (originally name Vita Caroli) and is written by
Einhard. The second version titled Of Charlemagne (De Carolo Magno) and is

One thing that has to be pointed out is that Einhard actually lived during the same
time as Charlemagne and was a prominent member of the Royal court and was
conscious to the personal and official lives of the King. Already being able to see
the value of Einhard s version of the story due to the great respect and admiration he
had for Charlemagne. Einhard begins his version with somewhat giving his reason
of why he is writing the biography. He says that he has taken it upon himself to
narrate the public and private life of Charlemagne also calling him his foster father
referring to the way Charlemagne treated students and courtiers similarly to his own
children. Einhard mentions the end of the Merovingian and the start of the
Carolingian dynasties also listing his ancestors because he wanted to give
background of the type of kingdom Charlemagne came into. Along with a list of
Charlemagne s military campaigns, following with other details of his life till his
death.
Notker who wrote the alternate version lived from (840 912). Notker was
separated from Charlemagne s time by several generations, and as such he had to
acquire his information second or third hand, the value of Notker s work can be
seen as subpar compared to Einhard for that fact alone. Notker wrote this piece for

Obasan Naomi Nakane Character Analysis
Does your past haunt you? In Obasan, a novel by Joy Kogawa, Naomi Nakane
returns to her family to mourn the death of her uncle, but uncovers memories and
secrets about her past during her stay. During her childhood, Naomi and her family
were thrown into internment camps where her family faced oppression that lead to
traumatizing events that remained a mystery to Naomi throughout her life, these
experiences of Naomi s past build up to add to the story s meaning as a whole.
The Canadian Government also put a stranglehold on Naomi and thousands of other
Japanese citizens through internment camps and confiscation of property. As a young
child Naomi was thrust into an internment camp of Hastings Park. Conditions here

Her mother was the first to vanish from her life, and at the time young Naomi didn
t know what to make of it, only showed a feeling of bewilderment as it says What
matters to my five year old mind is not the reason that she is required to leave, but
the stillness is so much with me that it takes a form of a shadow which grows and
surrounds me like air. (78) Naomi is haunted by the sudden loss of her mother, and
like the incident with Mr. Gower, Naomi tries to ignore the painful memory
throughout her adult life, but revisits it when she returns to Granton for her Uncle
s funeral. She then discovers the truth of what had happened to her mother, which
was that she had returned to Japan and was a victim of an air strike, and despite
surviving, was severely injured to the point where maggots inhabited her wounds.
Naomi finally comes to peace by uncovering her dark past, as she believes she can
communicate with her deceased mother, and also comes to the realization of her
mental growth from her childhood when she says I am thinking that for a child
there is no presence without flesh. But perhaps it is because I am no longer a child I
can know your presence though you are not here. (292) This realization puts Naomi
at peace after years of uncertainty and buried memories.
At times, our past can be scarier than

On September 20th, I attended the piano concert called Eye Ear I Hear performed by
Professor Jennifer Blyth at the Rubendall Recital Hall, Weiss Center for the Arts. The
concert was present in a unique way that integrate music and written text are
combined together in order to convey the audience a sense of unconstrained free
association. The concerts mainly consists of two parts the music works with
polyphonic textures created by composers like Bach and Rzewski in the first half,
and those pieces with recent technological developments which represent the modern
American culture in the second half. I have been greatly impressed by Professor

There are a lot of jumps in Blyth s fingers and the beginning part drew us a picture
of harmony and peace. I noticed that Blyth stepped on the paddles a lot of times in
order to make some intervals between sections which split the notes up. Through this
technique used on peddle, a delightful and dynamic tone was made and one can
easily feel the sense of optimism and vitality that the music conveyed. As the melody
moves gradually towards a fierce and angry emotion tone, Blyth made big jumps
between left and right hands, bouncing back and forth heavily between different
ranges of the keyboard. With her body slightly inclining towards the piano, she made
some powerful sounds by using the weight of her arms when she dropping her arms
onto the keyboard. This also reminds me of some problems in my own practice.
When playing some chords, I use the strength of fingers instead of the arm s, which
made it harder to extend the volume and restrict the clearness of the notes. In
addition, after the piece reached its climax and getting close to the end, Blyth had her
fingers make some small pinch to make slight emphases on some notes, without
ruining the soft and restful atmosphere in the background, which gave me some
inspiration for my future study on piano performance.
In conclusion, through observing the piano performance of Blyth s concert, I was
greatly inspired and learned some performance skills which are
Papular Pritic Eruption Essay
Introduction:
Papular pruritic eruption (PPE) is the most common cutaneous manifestation of
HIV, and is recognized as a WHO Clinical Stage 2 disease of HIV. PPE has a
reported prevalence of 11 46% depending on geographic region, and is most
commonly reported in African countries, Haiti, Brazil, and Thailand, and is less
common in European and North American countries. PPE is characterized by
multiple discrete skin colored or erythematous urticarial papules symmetrically
distributed on the body. The lesions are most commonly located on the extremities
but can also be found on the trunk, face, or are generalized with sparing of mucous
membranes, palms and soles, and digital web spaces. Pruritus begins with lesion
appearance, and itching ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
PPE may also be related to HIV infection of the skin and immune dysregulation in
the skin. Some studies have suggested that the lesions of PPE are an immunologic
manifestation related to the inversion of the normal ratio of CD4:CD8 T cells and the
normal ratio of Th1:Th2 response and cytokine profile that occurs in HIV infection
and results in the inability to recognize endogenous proteins.
Findings:
PPE is characterized by multiple sharply demarcated urticarial papules that are either
skin colored or erythematous. The lesions are symmetrically distributed and more
commonly seen on the extremities, but are also found on the trunk, face, or be
generalized with sparing of mucous membranes, palms and soles, and digital web
spaces. Studies have shown that 95% of lesions are located on the extremities, arms
and legs, most frequently on the extensor surfaces and dorsum of the hands. PPE has
a chronic course that waxes and wanes, and the lesions change appearance over time,
with new lesions appearing daily. As the pruritus beings with lesion appearance,
scratching leads to excoriations, secondary infections, and post inflammatory
hyperpigmentation, eventually leading to scarring and prurigo like nodules. The
lesions of PPE are predominantly papular, but there have been variants reported that
display pustular lesions with acneform appearance.
Diagnostic pearls:
PPE is more common in developing countries in individuals with history of insect
bites and NO history of
Hull House In The Late 1800 s
According to the law, civil rights are something that everyone is given. However,
history has shown that this is not always the case. In the late 1800 s blacks were
segregated from whites, and forced to obey different laws. There were not many
places where people from any place, of any race could learn together or interact. Hull
House was one place where all people of any religion, race, or country came together
and changed the course of history.
Hull House was not the first of its kind, but it may have been the first of its kind in
America. It was founded by Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Starr in 1889. Addams and
Starr hoped that Hull House would bring some light into these people s lives.

For example, Hull House acted as a base for many unions fighting for women s
suffrage and child labor. Jane Addams (one of the founders) was an activist and
lead a fight against sweatshops. Moreover, she was very passionate with her
protest and many factory owners did not agree. Specifically, one representative
from a manufacturers association tried to bribe her with $50,000 to stop her efforts
against sweatshops, but Addams refused (Scholastic.com). Despite all the
obstacles, her attempts were successful when in 1893 Illinois passed a bill that
banned children under 14 years old to work in workshops or factories. Another main
success of the Hull House organization was their work in forming the first Juvenile
Court of Chicago in 1899. Evidently, this was a pressing issue because many young
immigrant children were thrown in jail with adult criminals for petty crimes like
stealing coal, fruit, or vegetables to help support their families. The Hull House
organization even provided the first probation officers for the
Political Changes And Indicators Of Political Risk Essay
3. Political Changes and Indicators of Political Risk in Egypt
As mentioned before, components of political risk index are divided into six sub
indicators. This section examines changes in political risks sub indicators as a
response to political changes and the mutual relationship between the six sub
indicators that form political risk index in Egypt.
3.1 Behavior of and Changes in Political Risks Sub Indicators
Figure (1) shows that indicators of political risk have had noticeable changes
especially after 25th of January revolution except for government effectiveness and
control of corruption indicators which stayed at levels 0.5 and 0.33 respectively
during the considered period. The following points summarize the performance of
political risks sub indicators as a response to political changes in Egypt. An
indicator with points near to 1 indicates a relatively very low risk indicator, while an
indicator with points near to 0 indicates a relatively very high risk indicator.
The most vulnerable and risky indicator of political risks sub indicators is voice
and accountability indicator, as points awarded to this indicator were always
below 0.5 and hence it is always located in very high risk zone. Prior to 25th of
January (from 2006 to 2010), the indicator recorded 0.4 average points and during
revolutions period this average points has been dropped to 0.24. Voice and
accountability indicator recorded average points 0.33 during the whole considered
period
North Carolina State University s Environmental...
Introduction During this semester I traveled with the North Carolina State
University s Environmental Technology and Management program ET 201 class,
under the direction of Dr. Teresa Litzenberger, to Little Rock Creek in Raleigh
North Carolina. Little Rock Creek is a small stream located in southeast raleigh
near the Walnut Creek Wetland Center. Located in a watershed of approximately
705.879 acres, the creek looks like an upside down uppercase L from a map
perspective. The creek floor is sandy with a few small rocks (cobblestone) in areas.
The streamhas plenty of tree cover to provide shade. However, the lack of large
trees encourages the curves in the creek to widen which allows the water to slow
down and create pools throughout the creek. According to Title 15A of the North
Carolina Administrative Code, Rule .0302 contains the classifications for waters
located within the Neuse River Basin (15A NCAC 02L .0312). Little Rock Creek,
however, is not classified and therefore follows Rule .0301 which simply states that it
should carry the classification of the stream to which it is a tributary (.
Assessment and Methodology The Rapid Stream Assessment Technique (RSAT) uses
data measured in the field to determine a stream s condition. These data fields include
channel stability, channel scouring or sediment deposition, physical instream habitat,
water quality, riparian habitat conditions, and biological indicators of
macroinvertebrates. The RSAT ranking for each
Integrated Marketing Communications Plan
INTEGRATED MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS PLAN A. ADVERTISING
Advertising refers to the paid promotion of goods and services through a sponsoring
organization or company. While marketing has the objective to choose markets that
have the capacity to purchase a product, advertising, on the other hand, is the paid
communication through which relevant information about the product is conveyed
to potential consumers (2001). In a general sense, the author plans to use advertising

It is this alarming situation regarding the true objectives of advertising that could
lead to an increase in the responsibilities that the author and the organizers of the
Virtuous Woman Pageant would face. B. PUBLICITY Publicity is a term that is
closely related to public relations. While public relations refers to the proper
management of all means of communication among the companies and the people
involved, publicity, on the other hand, is the careful management of a product or
service s means of communication between the company and the general public.
Therefore, it is basically an informative process. However, its main objective is the
promotion of products and services being offered by a company. Thus, a publicity
plan is being made along the process in order to obtain excellent press coverage for
the company s products (2003). The author and the organizers plan to issue a press
release regarding the launching of the Virtuous Woman Pageant, but other methods
including Internet releases are in the author s options. However, in order for these
tools and techniques to be effectively utilized by the media, they must be able to
generate a great interest from the public. For this to happen, the author and the
organizers of the Virtuous Woman Pageant plans to manipulate the press release in
order to be a perfect match to the Christian women. The author believes that the most

John B Watson Research Paper
John B. Watson was a psychologist who paved the road for developing
behaviorism. Watson believed that psychology should be based on scientific
observable behavior. He is well known for his research on the conditioning process,
as well as the Little Albert experiment, in which he conditioned a child to fear a
previously neutral stimulus. Watson s behavioral theory focused on people s external
and outward behaviors. He believed how a person reacts to something physical
provides an insight into their internal actions. He spent most of his psychologycareer
applying this theory to the study of child development and early learning (Plucker,
2003).
Watson conducted several experiments exploring emotional learning in children. In

Dante s Argumentative Essay
For three years past, trade had been getting worse and worse, and the price of
provisions higher and higher. This disparity between the amount of the earnings of
the working classes and the price of their food, occasioned, in more cases than could
well be imagined, disease and death. Whole families went through a gradual
starvation. They only wanted a Dante to record their sufferings. And yet even his
words would fall short of the awful truth; they could only present an outline of the
tremendous facts of the destitution that surrounded thousands upon thousands in the
terrible years 1839, 1840, and 1841. Even philanthropists who had studied the subject,
were forced to own themselves perplexed in their endeavour to ascertain the real
causes of the misery; the whole matter was of so complicated a nature, that it became
next to impossible to understand it thoroughly.... Show more content on

The indigence and sufferings of the operatives induced a suspicion in the minds of
many of them, that their legislators, their magistrates, their employers, and even the
ministers of religion, were, in general, their oppressors and enemies; and were in
league for their prostration and enthralment. The most deplorable and enduring evil
that arose out of the period of commercial depression to which I refer, was this
feeling of alienation between the different classes of society. It is so impossible to
describe, or even faintly to picture, the state of distress which prevailed in the town at
that time, that I will not attempt it; and yet I think again that surely, in a Christian
land, it was not known even so feebly as words could tell it, or the more happy and
fortunate would have thronged with their sympathy and their aid. In many instances
the sufferers wept first, and then they cursed. Their vindictive feelings exhibited

Post Conquest Mexico Essay
In 1521, the fall of Tenochtitlan proved to be an integral piece in the Spanish
conquest of Mexico. After months of devastating warfare between the Aztecs and
the Spanish as well as the infection of smallpox into the Aztec population, the
Spanish conquered New Spain (Mexico) as their own, resulting in the Spanish
occupation and rebuilding of Tenochtitlan. The reshaping of the city was an arduous
and complex feat to say the least, as Hernan CortГ©s faced many challenges
following the satisfying victory of the conquest. In order to determine these various
challenges involved in post conquest Mexico, one must assess the various feats
CortГ©s struggled through as well as Carlos I s attempts to deal with the chaos in
Mexico. The most decisive endeavours that the Spaniards faced included: fixing a
city of ruins, incorporating the indigenous peoples into society, and creating a
Christian basis throughout the land. Thus, post conquest Mexico faced a magnitude
of challenges based on the socio political, religious, and economic values necessary
to conceive their perfect image... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The significance in solving the problems of rebuilding Tenochtitlan, bringing the
natives into the Spanish homelands, and creating a Christian society in New Spain
were integral to the initial success of the Spanish colonies. CortГ©s and Carlos I
were key players in the promotion of the goals of the Spanish empire in creating a
New Spain that is admired among the Spanish people. Overall, the chaos and lack
of order among the initial framework of New Spain was easily overcome as the
communal effort of the Spaniards led to the creation of their empire through
rebuilding a city from ruins after the conquests. In closing, CortГ©s was a great

Achebe s Defense of The Ibo People in Things Fall Apart
Option 1
The late Chinua Achebe is considered to be one of the most important voices in
African literature. Born in colonial Nigeria in the 1930 s, Achebe joined the first
wave of African writers who were determined to represent their country in a way
that would truthfully depict the past and present. Before the arrival of the first
wave writers, the history of pre colonial Africa was portrayed as a place of
barbarous activity. European novelists such as Joseph Conrad only added to this
impression in his dehumanizing book, The Heart of Darkness. Conrad depicted
Africa as the antithesis of civilization. In 1958, Achebe published Things Fall Apart
as a response to the negative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each type of orature not only preserved the past for the Ibo people it was also their
way of educating the young. The belief that African s were uneducated before the
entrance of the Colonial era was another myth that needed to be resolved. Their
way of education through the use of orature was a practice that wholly fulfilled the
needs of those who lived in the village. It was the arrival of Colonial power that
changed the definition of what true education really was. Of course, Achebe saw
the arrival of Western education as a positive thing. It would enable his people to
eventually take control of their country again. He echoed this thinking when the
missionary, Mr. Brown who came to live with the Ibo people, begged and argued
and prophesized. He said that the leaders of the land in the future would be men
and women who had learned to read and write. If Umuofia failed to send her
children to school, strangers would come from other places to rule them (Things
Fall Apart 181). Achebe was one of those future men which he wrote about. It was
because of his Western education that he was able to write Things Fall Apart, which
was written to to help my society regain belief in itself and put away the complexes
of the years of degradation and self abasement (Morning Yet On Creation Day 71).
The second topic that Achebe highlighted in Things Fall Apart was the Ibo s style of
Summer By Walter Dean Myers Summary
I chose the poem Summer written by Walter Dean Myers. This poem demonstrates
the authors ability to express his fondness of summer. The author uses repetition of
the words, hot days, hot days to emphasize the season is summer, and the main
source of his thoughts throughout the poem. The message is clearly conveyed to the
reader by giving attention in repetition of hot days. It also shows significant
meaning relating to the elements of summer. Metaphors are also demonstrated in
the poem Summer. The author wrote, Old men sleeping Lazy days, daisies lay .
This is a figure of speech that implies a hidden comparison of two unrelated things.

Neolithic Cave
Discuss the meaning of Paleolithic cave paintings like the ones at Lascaux. Why are
they there? What was their purpose? What do they mean?
According to the History of Art, no one knew of the existence of prehistoric cave
paintings until one day in 1879, when a young girl, exploring with her father in
Altamira in Northern Spain, crawled through a small opening in the ground and
found herself in chamber whose ceiling was covered with painted animals. Her
father, a lawyer and amateur archeologist, searched the rest of the cave, and told
authorities about the remarkable discovery, and published his findings the
following. There is no specific meaning of why people painted such dramatic

love of beauty . However, scientist now believes that the effort that was put in to
creating those beautiful paintings were more than just a simple visual pleasure .
Moreover, since the discovery of art painting, like the one Altamira, anthropologists
and art historians developed numerous theories to explain the existence of cave art.

Roles Of Clinical Manager. Clinical Manager’S

Clinical Manager s primary purpose is to encourage an environment that can provide
necessary and quality health care. Think of clinical managers as diffusers; they
address concerns that may arise from employees, patients, and doctors. Their job is to
appoint authority and make important decisions.
According to Occupational Outlook Handbook, clinical managers are referred as
medical and health service managers who plan, direct and coordinate medical

duties include recruitment and development of staff, allocate financial resources,

According to Nurse Journal, healthcare management programs focuses at least 50%
on health management classes and the rest are traditional business classes.
Moreover, to gain experience in the related field, students should take the initiative
to start seeking education outside of their school. Steps include applying for
internships or externships, administrative residencies, or even working part time at a
clinic. Most employers look for candidates with two to five years work experience in
a medical clinic or office setting.
Optimally, the completion of an undergraduate degree, the goals one should consider

managers earn their master s degree. Depending on their bachelor s degree, managers
return to school to obtain a Master of Health Administration (MHA) or Master of

The, A Linguistic Anthropologist, There Are Many...
As a linguistic anthropologist, there are many inferences we can make about the
type of place this lost tribe lived based on a few key phrases in their language. For
instance, we can infer that because they have no word for ocean, they lived in an
environment that was inland. Based on the statement that the only terrain this
tribe knew of was absolutely flat, rolling and slightly hilly, we can presume two
conclusions: They were not aware of mountains, and they had a small radius of
land in which they traveled. If one travels in any direction for a long enough time,
one is bound to find either an ocean or a mountain, so the fact they did not know
what either of these were insinuates that they may not have traveled very much. A
reason for this could be that they wanted to preserve the climate they had. If you
combine the information that says dozens of words exist for grain, including eight
for wheat alone, that they had no words for beef, pork, veal, leather or mutton, and
that there are several words for precipitation, most of which translate to rain, we
can presume that it is likely that they may not have traveled from their home land
very much, because they did not know if there would be rain in places they would
travel to. Rain may have been a key element to their survival, so they did not want
to leave a place that had it. Building upon the presumptions I have made, I will
attempt to analyze what this lost tribes values and beliefs may have been. As I said
previously,
Niccolo Machiavelli Praised Or Blamed
I agree with Niccolo Machiavelli, in his observations and insights on how men
(people) are Praised or Blamed especially in when the person holds a position of
leadership, such as a holding the title of a Prince. The point that Machiavelli draws
on is that if a person lives their life neglecting key elements that would keep his
core values in check; will eventually met the evil of his own demise that will
destroy him. Knowing his own vulnerabilities, and how to restrain himself from
falling victim to the available vices will save him from his own ruins. The point of

enough food and waste to be extra fat so they would sell more meat. Basically the
only ones benefiting from this waste was the pigs. Finally enough was enough and

robustly throughout all of the country, not just in the southern states. The first
several chapters of the book focus on the Klan s creation in 1865. He goes on to

how the war shaped a new nation. The bulk of the book is used to go through many of

researched, and could be looked upon as more of a text book than and novel that

To begin with, the official and the first foreign language of Thailand are highlighted
in the first two parts. Also, in the same part language education and communication
are located the current situation. The next part is concerning English proficiency of
Thai people. In the followed part will describe the importance of English and
ASEAN Economic Community. Afterwards the detailed context of the study will
pinpoint EMI policy at KKU and EMI implementation at HUSO. Besides, this section
closed with a limited research on EMI in Thailand.
Thailand is a country in Southeast Asia, where it is a homeland of over 65 million
Thai people in 2015 (Boonrach, 2015). Considering the languages are using in
Thailand, currently, there is not only a Thai languagestanding on the stage of all
communities but also other languages other than Thai are standing beside it in local
settings. Unexpectedly, there are over 80 languages are spoken in Thailand, but
there is only one official spoken and written language due to the domination of Thai
(Smalley, 1994; Rappa Wee, 2006; Darasawang Todd 2012). That is, Central Thai is
the only one accepted language to stand at a national level, and the majority of Thai
people are using Central Thai as an official language in various activities. In general,
Thai people are using Central Thai to communicate across the nation in many

The popularity of social networking sites is relatively recent and the effect of online
social networking (OSN) on employee productivity has not received much scholarly
attention. The reason most likely lies in the social nature of social networking sites
and OSN, which is assumed to have a negative effect on employee productivity and

Recent studies, for example, Golder, Wilkinson and Huberman (2007), Arvanitis and
Loukis (in press) and Coyle and Vaughn (2008:13в€’17) concur that social networks
are typical characterisations of human behaviour to fulfil the need to communicate
and connect with people they know, meet new people who share a common interest,
collaborate, participate and share information and knowledge as well as gain new
knowledge. Generally, these are also the reasons why individuals engage in social
behaviour via the Internet. To many, the Internet provides effective social networking
opportunities and their online behaviour includes building individual relationships,
expanding their personal network of friends, finding people who have had similar
experiences, discussing common topics of interest, dating and finding potential life
partners, staying connected to old friends or distant family and virtually meeting
peers, including work colleagues, to discuss current issues or topics of interest.

Comparing Aeschylus View Of Justice And Reason With The
Gods
Lauren Postma
Cultural Heritage I
Professor Gianini
12, September 2014
Justice and Reason with the Gods As a society, we value justice as one of the highest
virtues a state can have. Courts are the image of justice and what is right in America,
and we trust that those in charge will just and make the most reasonable decisions for
our country. Thanks to the systems of justiceput in place by the civilizations of the
old world, we have come to this point in our society. In reading works by Plato and
Aeschylus, we can see how their depicted Justice with the aid of reason and the
Greek gods. I believe that the two had rather similar views on justice though at
times there are stronger differences in their accounts. Through their depictions of
justice we can also get a clue at how each viewed their society and whether or not
they believed it to be just. I will first show justice and reason within the Oresteia and
compare it to the depiction of justice in Plato s works. ... Show more content on

Aeschylus stars out by showing what justice is to one single person. In Oresteia,
justice is the motive for the murder of Agamemnon and Clytaemnestra. The first
instance of justice is when Clytaemnestra declares that she must kill Agamemnon
to try and end the curse. She admits to her crime and tells the chorus that what she
did was a masterpiece of Justice./Done is done. (Agamemnon lines 1430 31). Here
the reader might agree with what she has done and with any number of reasons
why she has done it. She killed the man who was cursed and killed their daughter.
At first glance it seems that Aeschylus may agree that this is how justice is to be
done because the Chorus doesn t killer her, but with two plays left, we can see that
there is a lot more to it than just killing the
Beveridge Report Essay
What were Beveridges 5 Giants? How did they relate to the 1930 s and how far did
his 1942 report go towards defeating them?
This essay will attempt to explain and asses what Bevereidges five giants were and
how they related to the 1930s and how far his 1942 report went towards defeating
them. Looking at each of the five Giants individually I will explain if a how they
were defeated.
Britain s provision of welfare underwent a massive overhaul in the middle of the
second World War .William Beveridgeplayed a key role in these changes by writing a
report which revised the social security system. It was determined by Beveridge that
certain policies were required to combat the evils of society. They were referred to as
The Five Giants . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Fraser 2003)
It is plain to see from the policies above that a comprehensive welfare system
offering benefits on a universal level was created from the report written by
William Beveridge. However, it was still subject to criticism. These
miscalculations and misjudgements meant the elderly, the disabled and the long
term unemployed still experienced poverty because the level of benefits were too
low. (Fraser 2003) Beveridge s vision was to have to little or no means tested
benefits, his idea was that very few people would fall into this category and it
would only be used as a safety net. That was not the case, more and more people,
mainly those on low incomes had to turn to means tested National Assistance benefit.
Beveridge did not fulfil his vision in this part of his plan. (Timmins 1996)
In conclusion the Welfare Statewas created on the principle that the state accepted a
responsibility to protect and promote the welfare of all citizens. It must be noted that
the system was designed to provide a national minimum, not reduce inequalities. I
have looked in detail at all aspects to combat the five giants and the popular support
when the Beveridge report was introduced. I have also looked at flaws in the system,
however the cornerstone of the Beveridgian welfare system, was left almost
untouched until the 1980 s.

Case Overview
The Hewlett Packard Managers from each department had a meeting to discuss about
whether using a universal power supply for the next generation of network laser
printer called Rainbow is beneficial or not. They have the authority to make the
decision while strong justification should be provided to defend their proposal.
HP is developing its new generation network printer while it has been struggling
from 3 main issues The power specification for the printer is different in North
American (110 volt) and European (220 volt). This differences brings a big challenge
in HP s market forecasting and the subsequent stockout and transshipment between
regrions; HP needs to provide the specifications to its major partner ... Show more

Consequently, it reduces inventory buildup issue. Flexible to respond to customer
order so that HP can increase service level.
3. How would such costs and benefits be different over the product life cycle?
Over the product life cycle, both cost and benefit are different. At the beginning life
cycle (ramp up) of product, the cost of stock out would be high because for every
order lost would not only result in lost in revenue but also future revenue. The
theory is the customers tend to buy similar product and/or brand to keep
consistency. In addition, it takes over four life cycle of product before that
customer returns to HP. At the maturity stage, the extra cost, although very small,
can be a real disadvantage because during this period, the market becomes very
competitive and many players enter the same field causing price to drop. Customers
also become more price sensitive. However, the benefit of better forecasting
demands significantly helps lower the level of inventory. At the ending life cycle,
cost of stockouts is lower than compared to at beginning because there is less fear of
losing future sale.
4. Besides deciding on a universal power supply, what other operational
improvements can you suggest to HP Boise?
One of the suggestions HP should consider is improving forecasting ability to ensure
appropriate demand is met in all sector while optimizing inventory level. In addition,

Self Introduction Essay.pdf

  • 1. Self Introduction Essay Crafting a self-introduction essay may seem like a straightforward task, but the intricacies lie in navigating the delicate balance between self-expression and self-promotion. The challenge begins with the daunting task of encapsulating one's identity, experiences, and aspirations within the confines of a limited word count. The process of self-reflection required for such an essay is, in itself, a labyrinth. Deciding which aspects of your life to highlight, and which to downplay, becomes a delicate dance. Striking the right tone is no easy feat – being confident without appearing arrogant, humble without undermining achievements. Every sentence carries the weight of creating a lasting impression, making the writing process an exercise in self-analysis and introspection. Moreover, the challenge extends beyond content to the structure and flow of the essay. Arranging thoughts in a coherent manner, ensuring a logical progression, and maintaining the reader's interest add layers of complexity. It's not just about narrating events chronologically; it's about creating a narrative that captivates and resonates. Editing becomes a crucial phase, demanding a discerning eye to spot redundancies, refine language, and fine-tune the overall composition. Balancing the need for brevity with the desire to convey a comprehensive picture of oneself can be a constant source of tension. The difficulty lies not only in the technical aspects of writing but also in confronting one's own vulnerabilities. Sharing personal anecdotes requires a certain level of vulnerability, and deciding which aspects of one's life to expose can be emotionally taxing. The essay becomes a mirror reflecting not just accomplishments but also the person behind them. In the end, writing a self-introduction essay is not merely a task of putting words on paper; it's a journey of self-discovery through the written word. The difficulty arises from the inherent complexity of human identity and the challenge of articulating it in a way that is both authentic and appealing. And if, after grappling with this process, you find yourself in need of assistance, there are resources available. Similar essays and more can be ordered on platforms likeHelpWriting.net, where professionals can aid in navigating the intricate task of introducing oneself on paper. • 2. Comparing Wife Of Bath And The Prioress In The Canterbury... The only two women most significant and described in great detail in The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer who provide the greatest insight into contemporary medieval society are the Wife of Bath and the Prioress. These two women appear similar in the General Prologue of the poem but, as we see through their tales, they are quite unique women and most importantly very different from one another. By examining both the Wife of Bath and the Prioress s tales, we are able to see the stark contrast between their social standards and behavior. However, in spite of the fact that these two ladies belong to two different social spheres, they surprisingly share some common characteristics. The initial similarity between these two women lies in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means, of course, that she has been five times widowed (no divorce for women in 14th century England). This is rather surprising, but seems less so when in her prologue we learn that three of the husbands were old men. Her habit of going on pilgrimages suggests a devout woman, but her real reasons for such travel are a love of adventure, and the social opportunities these trips bring. As in the present case, most pilgrims are men and the few other women present are nuns. One of them might be the next husband for whom she is looking out. The Wife of Bath is most creatively portrayed and certainly most controversial. Alison, as she is called, is a very outspoken woman with beliefs contrary to those of her time, when a woman had little say. In her prologue, the Wife of Bath offends those who look down on her because of her beliefs, and uses various biblical and religious references to support her opinions on chastity, sex, and marriage. The Wife of Bath, Dame Alice is quite a spiteful woman even though she desires only a few simple things in life: power and control. Through her prologue and tale, she makes mirror images of herself , which reflects the person who she really is. Chaucer describes a nun Prioress called as Madame Eglantine. She had her nose well shaped, her eyes bright as glass, her mouth very small and soft and read, an indeed she had a fine
  • 3. Is Hadoop A Great Data Storage Choice And Hadoop... Hadoop is a great data storage choice and Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) or Hive is often used to store transactional data in its raw state. The map reduce processing supported by these Hadoop frameworks can deliver great performance, but it does not support the same specialized query optimization that mature relational database technologies do. Improving query performance, at this time, requires acquiring query accelerators or writing code. Every company who chose to use Hadoopneeds to optimize their architecture in a way compatible to Hadoop. For example using Hadoop in the architecture would be able process large data sets and if the query performance is not optimized or if the query is not able to accept the data given, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hadoop excels with managing and processing file based data, especially when the data is voluminous in the extreme and the data would not benefit from transformation and loading into a DBMS. In fact, for the kinds of discovery analytics involved with Hadoop, it s best to keep the data in its raw, source form. This is why Hadoop has such a well deserved reputation with big data analytics. Using the right combination of Hadoop products and the other platforms can be sensational in terms of analytics because it has the capacity to analyze analysis of petabytes of Web log data in large Internet firms, and now is being applied to similar analytic applications involving call detail records in telecommunications, XML documents in supply chain industries (retail and manufacturing), unstructured claims documents in insurance, sessionized spatial data in logistics, and a wide variety of log data from machines and sensors. Hadoop enabled analytics are sometimes deployed in silos, but the

  • 6. The Melting Point And Boiling Point Results The results show that the highest melting point was 4 Hydroxybenzoic Acid and the lowest melting point was Sulfosalicylic Acid. The highest boiling point was Octanol and lowest boiling point was Methanol. When it came to the percent error the highest percent error calculated was pentanol and the lowest percent error was Propanol. Discussion During this lab the melting point ranges and boiling points were recorded from several substances. Based upon the structures of these various samples certain trends were expected to be followed. For example, with the melting points of pure substances are usually higher than the melting points of impure substances. In this lab the melting point of Benzoic Acid, Salicylic Acid, 3 Hydroxybenzoic Acid, 4 Hydroxybenzoic Acid, and Sulfosalicylic Acid were taken. If we apply the concept of pure substances having higher boiling points, it was expected for substances like 3 Hydroxybenzoic Acid and 4 Hydroxybenzoic Acid to have higher melting points and for substances like Benzoic Acid and Salicylic Acid to have lower melting points. As for Sulfosalicylic Acid, its melting point was the lowest so it was assumed that the substance was the most impure. It was proven that the fewer impurities call for higher melting points. This is due to the crystalline lattices structure of repeating ions or molecules. This lattice is held together by intermolecular forces that create a strong, stable structure. The solid must be heated to a certain
  • 7. The European Court Of Human Rights and the European Court of Human Rights has entered a few judgments holding that schools have been illegally segregated. Yet despite UNESCO s attempts to aid Gypsy children, Fletcher believes that the European government is not trying hard enough, since no European or national judicial or administrative organ has ordered the cessation of segregation in any school, nor have they addressed the principal means of evasion, white flight. Instead, they have left corrective action to uncoordinated, unconstrained municipalities (Fletcher 919). Therefore, a small step for European governments to take is to implement anti bullying programs in schools starting in the younger grades. Additionally, they should promote an overall atmosphere of acceptance in their countries, as a method of demonstrating that as a developed continent, they have the means of helping the Gypsies and these must be used. By promoting equality among the population, less bullying will be tolerated and Gypsy children will be more comfortable going to school and becoming healthy citizens. Moreover, adult Gypsy citizens who seek an education to gain qualifications for getting a job, should also be granted access to education. With a more educated population, Gypsies will be able to contribute to their nation s economy and break free from a life of plagued by poverty, unemployment, and crime. Crime is one of the first things people relate Gypsies with; pick pocketing, theft and other petty crimes define their way

This essay was very dreadful to write, so I compared it to the off brand cereal Crispy Rice. The title of this essay, Determination , is simply the word that I had to describe throughout the paper. It was one of our longest essayswe had to write, and it was difficult to fit length requirements since the entire thing had to be centered around one word. Life is unpredictable and anything can happen at any given moment. But how will you act the next time life gives you a roadblock or a challenge? In the texts The Explosion, We Beat The Street, and the multimedia clip October Sky, roadblocks happen quite often, and the sources show how individuals are ready to overcome them in order to achieve their goals and blueprint. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In all of the stories each of the roadblocks have influences, such as the setting, people, and more. These influences affected the way they grew up and the way they reacted towards certain things. For example in We Beat The Street the three doctors (Rameck, George, and Sampson) grew up in a bad neighborhood in Newark which was mostly gang area, so whoever they lived by meant they were their friends. After hanging around them for a while they started to act like their friends, and became obnoxious, jerks, and started to fool around a lot. This caused them to be disrespectful to not only their friends and family but also their teachers. Homer from the multimedia October Sky movie clip was influenced by where he grew up because where he grew up no one really ever got a very nice job or succeeded. Most people who grew up in Coalwood stayed in Coalwood and worked in the mine. Injuries were often and when Homer s dad gets injured, in order to still have a home and be able to live Homer has to work as a replacement for his father in the coal mine. This caused him to appreciate what he has and made him realize that he had to work if he wanted to do what he wanted, and what he wanted was to go into space. After his dad recovered, Homer told his dad that he hated coal mining. After this he started to really focus on his rocket for the national science fair, that he ended up winning. Homer from October Sky was not supported by his father and his brother. This caused him to want to attempt to prove himself, so he began to work hard towards school and showed that he was more capable of what his father thought he was, and that he was able to accomplish his dream of working for NASA. This is how in all of the stories certain influences affected them and how them made them who they are

We gain from the two accounts of Notker and Einhard that Charlemagne was instrumental in the spread of culture and expressions to all edges of his kingdom. By nearly being partners with the Papacy, he spread the Christian message to almost all of Europe. As a consequence of his commitments in different fields, his rule was appropriately called the Carolingian Renaissance. Already being able to see the value of Einhard s version of the story due to the great respect and admiration he had for Charlemagne. Einhard begins his version with somewhat giving his reason of why he is writing the biography. He says that he has taken it upon himself to narrate the public and private life of Charlemagne also calling him his foster father referring to the way Charlemagne treated students and courtiers similarly to his own children. Einhard mentions the end of the Merovingian and the start of the Carolingian dynasties also listing his ancestors because he wanted to give background of the type of kingdom Charlemagne came into. Along with a list of Charlemagne s military campaigns, following with other details of his life till his death. Notker who wrote the alternate version lived from (840 912). Notker was separated from Charlemagne s time by several generations, and as such he had to acquire his information second or third hand, the value of Notker s work can be seen as subpar compared to Einhard for that fact alone. Notker wrote this piece for Charles the Fat, the great grandson of Charlemagne comes across as less academic and more light hearted. Notker also focused more on the king s personality for example, his generosity, and acuity of

There are a lot of jumps in Blyth s fingers and the beginning part drew us a picture of harmony and peace. I noticed that Blyth stepped on the paddles a lot of times in order to make some intervals between sections which split the notes up. Through this technique used on peddle, a delightful and dynamic tone was made and one can easily feel the sense of optimism and vitality that the music conveyed. As the melody moves gradually towards a fierce and angry emotion tone, Blyth made big jumps between left and right hands, bouncing back and forth heavily between different ranges of the keyboard. With her body slightly inclining towards the piano, she made some powerful sounds by using the weight of her arms when she dropping her arms onto the keyboard. This also reminds me of some problems in my own practice. When playing some chords, I use the strength of fingers instead of the arm s, which made it harder to extend the volume and restrict the clearness of the notes. In addition, after the piece reached its climax and getting close to the end, Blyth had her fingers make some small pinch to make slight emphases on some notes, without ruining the soft and restful atmosphere in the background, which gave me some inspiration for my future study on piano performance. In conclusion, through observing the piano performance of Blyth s concert, I was greatly inspired and learned some performance skills which are

Some studies have suggested that the lesions of PPE are an immunologic manifestation related to the inversion of the normal ratio of CD4:CD8 T cells and the normal ratio of Th1:Th2 response and cytokine profile that occurs in HIV infection and results in the inability to recognize endogenous proteins. Findings: PPE is characterized by multiple sharply demarcated urticarial papules that are either skin colored or erythematous. The lesions are symmetrically distributed and more commonly seen on the extremities, but are also found on the trunk, face, or be generalized with sparing of mucous membranes, palms and soles, and digital web spaces. PPE has a chronic course that waxes and wanes, and the lesions change appearance over time, with new lesions appearing daily. As the pruritus beings with lesion appearance, scratching leads to excoriations, secondary infections, and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, eventually leading to scarring and prurigo like nodules. The lesions of PPE are predominantly papular, but there have been variants reported that display pustular lesions with acneform appearance. Hull House was one place where all people of any religion, race, or country came together and changed the course of history. Hull House was not the first of its kind, but it may have been the first of its kind in America. It was founded by Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Starr in 1889. Despite all the obstacles, her attempts were successful when in 1893 Illinois passed a bill that banned children under 14 years old to work in workshops or factories. Another main success of the Hull House organization was their work in forming the first Juvenile Court of Chicago in 1899. Evidently, this was a pressing issue because many young immigrant children were thrown in jail with adult criminals for petty crimes like stealing coal, fruit, or vegetables to help support their families. The Hull House organization even provided the first probation officers for the

The following points summarize the performance of political risks sub indicators as a response to political changes in Egypt. An indicator with points near to 1 indicates a relatively very low risk indicator, while an indicator with points near to 0 indicates a relatively very high risk indicator. The most vulnerable and risky indicator of political risks sub indicators is voice and accountability indicator, as points awarded to this indicator were always below 0.5 and hence it is always located in very high risk zone. Prior to 25th of January (from 2006 to 2010), the indicator recorded 0.4 average points and during revolutions period this average points has been dropped to 0.24. Voice and accountability indicator recorded average points 0.33 during the whole considered period

Introduction During this semester I traveled with the North Carolina State University s Environmental Technology and Management program ET 201 class, under the direction of Dr. Teresa Litzenberger, to Little Rock Creek in Raleigh North Carolina. Little Rock Creek is a small stream located in southeast raleigh near the Walnut Creek Wetland Center. Located in a watershed of approximately 705.879 acres, the creek looks like an upside down uppercase L from a map perspective. The creek floor is sandy with a few small rocks (cobblestone) in areas. The streamhas plenty of tree cover to provide shade. However, the lack of large trees encourages the curves in the creek to widen which allows the water to slow down and create pools throughout the creek. According to Title 15A of the North Carolina Administrative Code, Rule .0302 contains the classifications for waters located within the Neuse River Basin (15A NCAC 02L .0312). Little Rock Creek, however, is not classified and therefore follows Rule .0301 which simply states that it should carry the classification of the stream to which it is a tributary (. Assessment and Methodology The Rapid Stream Assessment Technique (RSAT) uses data measured in the field to determine a stream s condition. These data fields include channel stability, channel scouring or sediment deposition, physical instream habitat, water quality, riparian habitat conditions, and biological indicators of macroinvertebrates. This disparity between the amount of the earnings of the working classes and the price of their food, occasioned, in more cases than could well be imagined, disease and death. Whole families went through a gradual starvation. They only wanted a Dante to record their sufferings. And yet even his words would fall short of the awful truth; they could only present an outline of the tremendous facts of the destitution that surrounded thousands upon thousands in the terrible years 1839, 1840, and 1841. The most deplorable and enduring evil that arose out of the period of commercial depression to which I refer, was this feeling of alienation between the different classes of society. It is so impossible to describe, or even faintly to picture, the state of distress which prevailed in the town at that time, that I will not attempt it; and yet I think again that surely, in a Christian land, it was not known even so feebly as words could tell it, or the more happy and fortunate would have thronged with their sympathy and their aid. After months of devastating warfare between the Aztecs and the Spanish as well as the infection of smallpox into the Aztec population, the Spanish conquered New Spain (Mexico) as their own, resulting in the Spanish occupation and rebuilding of Tenochtitlan. The reshaping of the city was an arduous and complex feat to say the least, as Hernan CortГ©s faced many challenges following the satisfying victory of the conquest. In order to determine these various challenges involved in post conquest Mexico, one must assess the various feats CortГ©s struggled through as well as Carlos I s attempts to deal with the chaos in Mexico. Born in colonial Nigeria in the 1930 s, Achebe joined the first wave of African writers who were determined to represent their country in a way that would truthfully depict the past and present. Before the arrival of the first wave writers, the history of pre colonial Africa was portrayed as a place of barbarous activity. It was the arrival of Colonial power that changed the definition of what true education really was. Of course, Achebe saw the arrival of Western education as a positive thing. It would enable his people to eventually take control of their country again. He echoed this thinking when the missionary, Mr. Brown who came to live with the Ibo people, begged and argued and prophesized. • 31. The, A Linguistic Anthropologist, There Are Many... As a linguistic anthropologist, there are many inferences we can make about the type of place this lost tribe lived based on a few key phrases in their language. For instance, we can infer that because they have no word for ocean, they lived in an environment that was inland. Based on the statement that the only terrain this tribe knew of was absolutely flat, rolling and slightly hilly, we can presume two conclusions: They were not aware of mountains, and they had a small radius of land in which they traveled. If one travels in any direction for a long enough time, one is bound to find either an ocean or a mountain, so the fact they did not know what either of these were insinuates that they may not have traveled very much. A reason for this could be that they wanted to preserve the climate they had. If you combine the information that says dozens of words exist for grain, including eight for wheat alone, that they had no words for beef, pork, veal, leather or mutton, and that there are several words for precipitation, most of which translate to rain, we can presume that it is likely that they may not have traveled from their home land very much, because they did not know if there would be rain in places they would travel to. Rain may have been a key element to their survival, so they did not want to leave a place that had it. Building upon the presumptions I have made, I will attempt to analyze what this lost tribes values and beliefs may have been. As I said previously,

Though, he was not surprised that they found him guilty and sentenced him to death, it was quite peculiar the outcome of the votes that found him guilty were not vastly far apart compared to the people who voted to sentence him to death. While pondering over he thought of his death, Socratesgave his own perspective on the possibilities on what could be after he is executed. Though he gave a relatable perspective on death which was relatively optimistic, my own view is moderately different than that of Socrates. After his fate is determined, Socrates articulates that he is not as much as concerned with avoiding death as he is to avoiding unrighteousness, which he says is faster than death... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whereas in this eternal life, a man would not be punished and put to death for questioning. If this may be the truth of the result of the afterlife when passing on, one will be much happier while also being immortal. For these reasons he see s death as an end to all his troubles. He believes evil can do no harm to a good man, rather it be in this world or the external realm of another. Socrates comes to the realization his life has ended and theirs to be lived. Although, he does not know which would be the better selection, for that is what only God may know. There are experiences in life which some of use will come across and some of us will not. But what is inevitable, the one eternal experience we all will have, is the end to one s life we know as death. Everyone s view on what comes after death is vastly different. Whether it may be one of Socrates views as a state of nothingness, or awaiting our entrance into heaven or being sent to hell. We all believe in our own outlook of what to expect after our life has come to an

Recent studies, for example, Golder, Wilkinson and Huberman (2007), Arvanitis and Loukis (in press) and Coyle and Vaughn (2008:13в€’17) concur that social networks are typical characterisations of human behaviour to fulfil the need to communicate and connect with people they know, meet new people who share a common interest, collaborate, participate and share information and knowledge as well as gain new knowledge. Generally, these are also the reasons why individuals engage in social behaviour via the Internet. To many, the Internet provides effective social networking opportunities and their online behaviour includes building individual relationships, expanding their personal network of friends, finding people who have had similar experiences, discussing common topics of interest, dating and finding potential life partners, staying connected to old friends or distant family and virtually meeting peers, including work colleagues, to discuss current issues or topics of interest. Comparing Aeschylus View Of Justice And Reason With The Gods Lauren Postma Cultural Heritage I Professor Gianini 12, September 2014 Justice and Reason with the Gods As a society, we value justice as one of the highest virtues a state can have. Courts are the image of justice and what is right in America, and we trust that those in charge will just and make the most reasonable decisions for our country. Thanks to the systems of justiceput in place by the civilizations of the old world, we have come to this point in our society. In reading works by Plato and Aeschylus, we can see how their depicted Justice with the aid of reason and the Greek gods. I believe that the two had rather similar views on justice though at times there are stronger differences in their accounts. Through their depictions of justice we can also get a clue at how each viewed their society and whether or not they believed it to be just. I will first show justice and reason within the Oresteia and compare it to the depiction of justice in Plato s works. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aeschylus stars out by showing what justice is to one single person. In Oresteia, justice is the motive for the murder of Agamemnon and Clytaemnestra. The first instance of justice is when Clytaemnestra declares that she must kill Agamemnon to try and end the curse. She admits to her crime and tells the chorus that what she did was a masterpiece of Justice./Done is done. (Agamemnon lines 1430 31). Here the reader might agree with what she has done and with any number of reasons why she has done it. She killed the man who was cursed and killed their daughter. At first glance it seems that Aeschylus may agree that this is how justice is to be done because the Chorus doesn t killer her, but with two plays left, we can see that there is a lot more to it than just killing the

This essay will attempt to explain and asses what Bevereidges five giants were and how they related to the 1930s and how far his 1942 report went towards defeating them. Looking at each of the five Giants individually I will explain if a how they were defeated. Britain s provision of welfare underwent a massive overhaul in the middle of the second World War .William Beveridgeplayed a key role in these changes by writing a report which revised the social security system. It was determined by Beveridge that certain policies were required to combat the evils of society. They were referred to as The Five Giants . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Fraser 2003) It is plain to see from the policies above that a comprehensive welfare system offering benefits on a universal level was created from the report written by William Beveridge. However, it was still subject to criticism. These miscalculations and misjudgements meant the elderly, the disabled and the long term unemployed still experienced poverty because the level of benefits were too low. (Fraser 2003) Beveridge s vision was to have to little or no means tested benefits, his idea was that very few people would fall into this category and it would only be used as a safety net. That was not the case, more and more people, mainly those on low incomes had to turn to means tested National Assistance benefit. Beveridge did not fulfil his vision in this part of his plan. (Timmins 1996) In conclusion the Welfare Statewas created on the principle that the state accepted a responsibility to protect and promote the welfare of all citizens. It must be noted that the system was designed to provide a national minimum, not reduce inequalities. I have looked in detail at all aspects to combat the five giants and the popular support when the Beveridge report was introduced. I have also looked at flaws in the system, however the cornerstone of the Beveridgian welfare system, was left almost untouched until the 1980 s. Bibliography Fraser, D. How would such costs and benefits be different over the product life cycle? Over the product life cycle, both cost and benefit are different. At the beginning life cycle (ramp up) of product, the cost of stock out would be high because for every order lost would not only result in lost in revenue but also future revenue. The theory is the customers tend to buy similar product and/or brand to keep consistency. In addition, it takes over four life cycle of product before that customer returns to HP. At the maturity stage, the extra cost, although very small, can be a real disadvantage because during this period, the market becomes very competitive and many players enter the same field causing price to drop. Customers also become more price sensitive. However, the benefit of better forecasting demands significantly helps lower the level of inventory. At the ending life cycle, cost of stockouts is lower than compared to at beginning because there is less fear of losing future sale. 4. Besides deciding on a universal power supply, what other operational improvements can you suggest to HP Boise? One of the suggestions HP should consider is improving forecasting ability to ensure appropriate demand is met in all sector while optimizing inventory level. In addition, HP
