The plays and playwrights of the time challenged the societal norms and pushed
boundaries into never before thought of areas, this essay will show how
Renaissance drama was subversive and created the world we live in today. The two

I have talked before about coming from a simple life. That could be a slight
understatement as I have never previously attended a ballet, and when the

musical number of Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy that the gears of my mind
finally associated it with memory. While the first few notes of the celesta filled
the room with carefree delight, I was transported back to the cold, laminated floor
of my farmhouse bedroom. Sitting on the gaily colored rug in the middle of my
six feet by seven feet small expanse of space, I remember holding my china
ballerina/music box so gently. The object itself is about twenty inches tall. It is a
beautiful ballerina in a lavender tutu with matching slippers and a delicate crown
of flowers in her hair. The ballerina is perched upon a white cylinder, almost

(sperm and ovum), a successful sperm to ovum interaction; fertilization and an
effective implantation of the fertilized ovum onto the endometrial wall of the
uterus.3 In a study carried out in south western Nigeria, the common causes of
infertility were: tubal factor (39.5%), uterine factor (30%), and ovarian factor

A healthy behavior change I plan to make is reduce my intake of added sugars to
25 grams per day. I will do this for 5 days out of the week for 2 months. According
to the American Heart Association, the maximum amount of added sugars you
should eat in a day are 100 calories per day. This is 25 grams or 6 teaspoons. The
reason this number is so low is because added sugars are extremely toxic to the

November 30, 2013 Floyd B. McKissick Sr. was a veteran of World War II and a
pioneer in the integration of higher education in North Carolina. In the summer of
1951, he was admitted to the University of North Carolina, becoming one of the first
African American students to attend UNC Law School. While being a key
participant in the integration of UNC law school, McKissick also took on
leadership positions in Civil Rights activists groups including CORE and NAACP.1
With a strong religious foundation, he established a new type of community called

However, due to his race, the City Council denied him. This had not been the only
problem of discrimination he had faced. McKissick remembers, There were many
problems of segregation in the city which we were regularly fighting every day, as it
related to blacks in a southern city where segregation was prevalent. 9 McKissick
continued to participate in protests such as the the Journey of Reconciliation, an early
freedom ride challenging segregation in interstate transportation, and later in the
desegregation of UNC Law School.10
In 1939, McKissick sought a degree at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.11
After a year in Atlanta, McKissick went to work on a tobacco farm in Connecticut.
I worked around, during the period of time... I was in and out of school depending
upon the amount of money that it took to go school McKissick stated. 12 In 1945,
he joined the U.S. Army and during World War II he served in the European Theater
as a sergeant.13 He came back from the war determined to end segregation in North
Carolina. They [the soldiers] had seen the whole world, and they were not going to
live in a pattern of segregation as they had in the past he stated.14
