What Is The Purpose Of A Cause And Effect
Essay
Crafting an essay on the purpose of a cause and effect essay can be a challenging task that
requires a nuanced understanding of the subject matter. One must delve into the intricacies of
cause-and-effect relationships, exploring how actions lead to consequences and vice versa. The
difficulty lies not only in comprehending the theoretical aspects but also in presenting these
ideas coherently and persuasively.
To begin with, the writer must have a clear grasp of the fundamental concepts related to cause
and effect. This involves a comprehensive analysis of various scenarios and their outcomes. The
challenge lies in selecting relevant examples that effectively illustrate the cause-and-effect
relationships, making the essay both informative and engaging.
Structuring the essay is another hurdle to overcome. The logical flow of ideas, from introducing
the topic to delving into specific examples and drawing meaningful conclusions, requires careful
planning. Ensuring a seamless transition between paragraphs and maintaining a coherent
narrative demands both skill and effort.
Furthermore, writing a cause and effect essay involves critical thinking to identify the
underlying factors contributing to a particular outcome. It requires the writer to think analytically,
connecting dots and establishing causal links that may not always be immediately apparent. This
analytical process adds an extra layer of complexity to the writing process.
Crafting a thesis statement that encapsulates the essence of the cause and effect essay is a crucial
step, as it sets the tone for the entire piece. Articulating a clear and compelling thesis that guides
the reader through the essay's exploration of causation and consequence demands precision in
expression.
In conclusion, tackling the task of writing an essay on the purpose of a cause and effect essay
requires a combination of analytical thinking, effective communication skills, and a deep
understanding of the topic. It is a challenging endeavor that demands time, dedication, and a
commitment to presenting a well-structured and insightful piece of writing.

Filibuster Conclusion
A filibuster is a unique tool used in legislation that obstructs the progress of a bill.
This obstruction of progress can be conducted in a variety of ways, such as talking
a bill to death , or delaying long enough to completely prevent a vote on a bill.
Filibustering can be accomplished by one, or several members of the Senate. In
recent years, the act of filibustering has become increasingly unpopular amongst the
public due to the delay it causes on bill progress in the US Supreme Court, but its
initial purpose came from a more helpful standpoint. The embryonic concept of the
filibuster was created to guarantee that all opinions were heard completely regardless
of their popularity before a bill was voted on. This The filibuster

The policy of assimilation was defined at the 1961 Native Welfare Conference of
Federal and State Ministers with the terms that Aboriginals were to be treated like
every other Australian and were to be given the rights and privileges of other

been given the rights to full wages, the right to vote and the right to be counted as an

The Crisis Of Venezuela s Crises
Venezuela s Crises:
When Christopher Columbus discovered the coast of Venezuela, he thought he had
encountered an earthly paradise, today that grace land is ravaged by famine,
inflation, scarcity, violence, social and political conflicts; social implosion [being]
driven by economic collapse, caused by shockingly self destructive policy making
(Toro, 1). Venezuelas antidemocratic government and its lack of foresight has
created a severe economic crisis crumbling health care system and a lack of basic
necessities and is jailing innocent people who object.
This delicate subject is affecting millions Venezuelan citizens as well as raising
concerns of family members abroad fearing for their kin. It has affected
generations so much that many have decided to leave behind jobs, friends and
family to flee from its own country. Venezuela is one of the most dangerous
countries at present, a dangerous country where economic crises and high inflation,
like panic induced runs on banks, generate self serving, defensive behaviors that
tend to spiral out of control, (Corrales, 15). Venezuelan citizens are having a really
difficult time realizing how bad their country is doing and how their families are
trying to survive day by day.
A lot of young kids and adults are not currently living in the country because of its
condition and situation. There are many Venezuelan citizens who are not even
allowed to go because of the fear that if they go and visit they could get killed.

Artemisia as a Feminist
Nanette Salomon, a very well known feminist writer, wrote the article, Judging
Artemisia: A Baroque Woman in Modern Art History. The article opens up with a
discussion about the 2001 2 exhibition of Orazio and Artemisia Gentileschi: Father
and Daughter Painters in Baroque Italy. The author explains that three things are
unusual here: the fact that two famous artists were presented at the same time, that
they were related as father and daughter, and the fact that the woman was better
known than the man. Her intent in this article is to look at the effects of this trope
(figure of speech) in the past and in the present.
Salomon argues that this comparison technique has been the main feature or art
historical analysis. It puts a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author also talks about the story of Susanna and the Elders. Apparently
Artemisia Gentileschi painted three versions of this biblical story at three different
stages in her life, 1610, 1622, and 1649. The author did a comparison on the three
Susanna paintings and she argues that it is noticeable that the abstracting qualities of
the 1610 painting change its concept or meaning from one form of story telling to
another. She argues that the abstract form of story telling serves the purpose of
finding a visual equivalent to the deafening silence . She explains that the 1622
Susanna and the Elders speaks a different language, and so does the 1649 version.
Nanette Salomon emphasizes that there are different ways to make sense of the
changes in Artemisia s three Susannas . One explanation may be that Artemisia s
work show progressive naturalism or realism which can be attributed to her
development as an artist.
Judging Artemisia Gentileschi is a practice that is believed to have begun at the same
time as aesthetic judgment, back in the time of Vasari in the late sixteenth century.
To me, those are the main points of the article by Nanette Salomon. I think that she
made a very good historical and psychological approach on the subject. The strength
of this article is that she provides a lot of historical facts, and blends it together with
her words and opinion.
The Story Of The Western Wing, The Peony Pavilion, And
The...
In traditional Chinese theater, females, and particularly young girls, are perceived
as property. Their role in society is to get married to a male from another family of
equal or higher social status. In fact, the role of a woman is so set and stone that no
matter how they were brought up, whether or not they are noble or educated, does
not seem to contribute to their destined fate. The traditional Chinese society is so
specific and consistent in determining the fate of females based on social hierarchy
that females seem to have no choice in the matter. Often, the decision is made by
their parents and the females are forced to simply comply. In three classic Chinese
operas, The Story of the Western Wing, The Peony Pavilion, and The Peach Blossom
Fan, the main female characters strive to move against societal norms by choosing
their own destinies, hence choosing their male partners. The classics make this
freedom so valuable to the point that it is almost unachievable. By creating female
leads who fight against their own destinies, authors of each play use irony to
criticize traditional Chinese social structure. To show this irony, three heroines
whom are all upper class, educated, and very sheltered by their families and societal
role of a womanare struck by grief when deciding to choose their own fate. Although
the freedom and approval of loveshould be considered a premium lifestyle for its
time, the impossible nature of the opportunity leads to unconceivable
Pearl Prynne Character Development
Nathaniel Hawthorne s Gothic Romance novel, The Scarlet Letter, encircles Boston
society during the Era of Puritanism. Hawthorne introduces Hester Prynne on the
town scaffold, wearing her stamp of shame the Scarlet Letter and squashes her infant
against her bosom in fear of her punishment for committing adultery. The infant, Pearl
Prynne, flourishes into a stubborn, wild child whose clever and inquisitive nature
exceeds any child her age. While Pearl is confined within a bubble of solitude, she is
left to wonder about the identity of her unknown father. Pearl is shunned by the
children in Boston, and she seeks comfort in the forest that is free from the corrupt
Puritan society. Although some may argue that Pearl s future prosperity is unaffected

Dimmesdale is never involved in Pearl s childhood for fear of ruining his dignity.
In the rare instance when Dimmesdale shows fondness towards Pearl in secrecy of
the forest, he bends forward and impressed [a kiss] on her brow. Hereupon, Pearl
broke from her mother, and... bathed her forehead, until the unwelcome kiss was
quite washed off, and diffused through a long lapse of the gliding water
(Hawthorne, 194). Pearl s response to the kiss exemplifies her inability to love;
this destruction is caused by Dimmesdale s incompetence to claim being Pearl s
father. As children who do not receive care from both parents are incapable of
blossoming, Pearl s maturation is halted from a lack of a father figure early on in her
childhood. Some may argue that Dimmesdale s neglect of Pearl both parents. In turn,
Hester and Pearl s mother daughter relationship is strengthened. This argument is
supported from Hester receiving letters from Pearl; this shows the strong long
distance relationship that Pearl and Hester maintain (293). Nevertheless, Pearl is left
with no father image. If Dimmesdale truly cared about the relationship with his
daughter, he would have fought to live instead of leaving Pearl, one again, abandoned

Valleyfair
Come on, guys, I yelled at my family, which consists of my mom Madonna, my
father John, and my two sisters Alissa and Kara, as I ran frantically across the jam
packed parking lot to the opening gate that led to a world of adventure. As wide as
the world around, my eyes pierced at the doorway to a world of fun. Families, of all
sizes, were enjoying all the possibilities of fun. Hearing laughter and frightening
screams, warned me of the experience waiting for me within the doorway to
everlasting amazement. The sweet baked smell of funnel cakes swarmed into the
fresh morning air. Before I knew it, my family and I were ready to enter Valleyfair, an

the roller coaster slowly began to move.
Here we go, my father said with excitement.
At the beginning of the blue colored track, there was a sharp turn. As soon as all of
the carts complete the turn, the fun would begin because we would start to climb
the 100 foot drop off. Clickity clack, clickity clack, the chains sang as they wheeled
the carts up the steep drop off. Before I knew it, our cart, the first cart, was at the
top of the 100 foot drop off. I could see everything from there. The swirling black
Octopus ride was t0 the right of us, the gigantic Ferris Wheel twirled around and
around to the left of us, and in front of us the old wooden roller coaster, High Roller,
roared as the carts sped around the tracks.
Stopping me from checking out the world before me, the roller coaster dropped
down the steep drop off. My stomach felt like it was torn out of me as I experienced
the steep drop off. As soon as the roller coaster was at the bottom of the drop off, the

How Did Lawrence Sperry Influenced The Invention Of
Aviation
A young 15 year old boy in the year of 1909, had attended an airshow that would
change his goals and dreams forever. Lawrence Sperry was very adventurous and
intelligent, he was fascinated by the aviation work and craft. In Mineola, New
York, Lawrence and his brother were discovering new fancies about aircrafts that
they never knew at an airshow. Full of curiosity and hope, the Sperry brothers built
their own version of the Voisin in their basement, but realized after the final touches
that they could not fit the wings out. They even manufactured their own steam box.
Although they were very smart kids, they were still very inexperienced with flying.
This plane did not have an engine but was built as a glider. Still curious, they flew
up to 150ft of altitude before crashing. Elmer and Zula Sperry (father and mother)
were convinced that Lawrence would need flying lessons to become a very

Modern Day Era And Its Impact On Our Society
Humans have been communicating with each other as long as the human race can
remember. It has been the essences of our survival allowing us to be able to pass
on our knowledge, express ideas, and covey emotions. As time passed, we have
learned different methods to communicate. For example, we have learned to
communicate with words and symbols which has helped us evolve and form a
foundation for our society. Words and symbols have allowed to us expand our
ability to communicate and the ability to express our ideas in a greater way.
Typography has become one of the most influential ways that we use to
communicate in this modern day era; and it plays a major role in our society.
Typography essentially is found everywhere from posters to books, magazines to
signs and generally anywhere where type is involved. Now the history of type itself
is quite long which definitely states that type has come a long way and has a great
history behind it. Two of the most well known movements in type, which introduced
new principals and brought change to type, would be the Bauhausmovement and
Futurist movement. These two movements have brought forth change and principals
that have influenced the typography work in todays world. In this essay I will be
discussing how the Bauhaus movement and the Futurist movement are different in
terms of their philosophy of type, the characteristics and works of art.
The philosophy of these two movements are different in terms of how they both
follow

Conflict is everywhere we go, at home, school, church in the community and
especially at work. How we decide to handle the conflict at hand will determine
whether we strengthen the relationship or break it up. Each situation can be dealt
with in a way that can bring healing instead of animosity and further pain. Most of
the time conflict is looked at as a negative experience that most people refuse to be a
part of because of their own lack of conflict management skills; but if both parties are
willing to sit down and discuss the issue, there is a possibility of a positive ... Show

B)John s intentions were to convince me that all they were going to do is study and
if I allowed it with some ground rules like leave the door open, only when parents
are home and a time limit, he would have followed those rules only until I got
comfortable with the idea and slacked up on looking in on them, then he would have
tried to get intimate with the young lady, which eventually could lead to having
sexual intercourse in my home. (Not going to happen)
C)My contribution to the problem was as John grew up, I allowed my best friend
s daughter, (who was the same age and they grew up together), to visit/play with
John in his room and even to date when she comes over she freely would walk to
his bedroom and they would sit up and watch TV on his bed, sometimes with the
door closed. I felt no harm in the situation because they would say they were cousins
and treated each other as such.
II.What happen? What is the other s story?
What happen was John threw that situation in my face, he said, Mom what
difference does it make, Kim, (name change for confidentiality), comes over lays in
the bed with me to watch TV and sometimes when you and her mom go out, she
spends the night and me and her are only friends. John story was Kim isn t my only

Axolotl Research Paper
Six adult axolotls (including a leucistic specimen) were shipped from Mexico City to
the Jardin des Plantes in Paris in 1863. Unaware of their neoteny, Auguste DumГ©ril
was surprised when, instead of the axolotl, he found in the vivarium a new species,
similar to the salamander. This discovery was the starting point of research about
neoteny. It is not certain that Ambystoma velasci specimens were not included in the
original shipment.
Vilem Laufberger of Germany used thyroid hormone injections to induce an axolotl
to grow into a terrestrial adult salamander. The experiment was repeated by
Englishman Julian Huxley, who was unaware the experiment had already been done,
using ground thyroids. Since then, experiments have been done often with injections
of iodine or various thyroid hormones used to induce metamorphosis.[citation needed]

They are especially easy to breed compared to other salamanders in their family,
which are almost never captive bred due to the demands of terrestrial life. One
attractive feature for research is the large and easily manipulated embryo, which
allows viewing of the full development of a vertebrate. Axolotls are used in heart
defect studies due to the presence of a mutant gene that causes heart failure in
embryos. Since the embryos survive almost to hatching with no heart function, the
defect is very observable. The axolotl is also considered an ideal animal model for the
study of neural tube closure due to the similarities between human and axoltol neural
plate and tube formation, which unlike the frog, is not hidden under a layer of
superficial epithelium.[15] There are also mutations affecting other organ systems
some of which are not well characterized and others that are.[16] The genetics of the
colour variants of the axolotl have also been widely
Fat Jenkins Research Paper
The worst thing the employees at Shady Shoals had to go through were the
Jenkinses. Not just because they were loud, obnoxious, and grumpy, but mainly
because there were three of them. No one in Bikini Bottom seemed to know why,
and it just became accepted amongst everyone. Fortunately, it was relatively easy to
tell them all apart. One of the Jenkinses in particular was the most famous around
town. He was green, short, fat, and sported big glasses. For an old man in a rest
home, Fat Jenkins managed to find his way around. Practically every old chump
around town had seen him at least once, whether he was digging for change at the
Barg n Mart or bumping into pillars at the Krusty Krab. Fatty Jenkins was nice to

The Importance Of Citizenship In American History
1.How was citizenship historically defined, and how did that definition change over
time?
As stated in the film The House We Live In: Race The Power of an Illusion
Whiteness was key to citizenship. , in the United States. Being white was
subjectively understood, it did not necessarily indicate your ancestry. The Court
would make decisions about who was considered white or black under the law.
Congress had passed an act in 1790 declaring that only free white immigrants could
become naturalized citizens. Naturalization was extended to persons of African
descent after the Civil War. Even still white citizens were the only ones who had the
right to vote and participate in government duties as well as having access to better
jobs. You could only gain the full benefits of being an American citizen if you were
white. As stated by Giddens, Duneier, Appelbaum and Carr (2015), In modern
societies, most people living within the borders of the political system are citizens
having common rights and duties and knowing themselves to be members of a
national community. (p.396). The definition of citizenship changed over time because
at first in order to be a naturalized citizen in the United States you had to be
characterized as white or black. But with so many immigrants coming into the
country of all different races, being defined as either white or black presented as a
problem. In 1857 (Dred Scott) African Americans were not considered citizens and
were not granted citizenship

This slows the poem down and gives the reader time to appreciate each idea. The
unusual layout of the poem suggests that it follows the poet s thought processes as
he observes the scene before him. The details build up gradually and are somewhat
reminiscent of stream of consciousness narrative. The poem is divided into three
sections. The first sets the scene (lines 1 9), the second adds detail (lines 10 30)
and the final section reflects on what this tells the poet about society as a whole.
The whole of Nothing s Changed has been written in present tense. Although he is
recalling a past experience, it is as if the poet is re living the experience as he
writes. The language that is used highlights the impression that segregation still
exists words and phrases such as labouring , anger and mean make the reader engage
with the poet s emotions. His anger is described as hot, white, inwards turning
/ anger . Literary features used in the poem are alliteration, repetition and assonance.
Comparison is done between the inn and the cafГѓ . The viewpoint in the poem is
also carefully established. The first stanza, for example, puts the reader in the poet s
shoes . A first person account makes it more likely that the reader will see things
from the poet s point of view . In the poem Two Scavengers… the language the
poet uses helps

My Life Story Essay
Today during our CALM block we did an interesting exercise that focused on
opening each one of us up, and get us talking about some specific pieces of our life.
To be quite honest, this was a little challenging for me, as I don t really care to talk
about my life, though it was a tad bit easier as through the rotation I was paid with
people I was reasonable close with so I did not feel judged. I feel as though we
were to do this assignment because it goes hand in hand with the life view and
work view compasses. It gets us to think about who we really are and maybe what
gave us the perspectives we had on those views. Either way it was an interesting
challenged and I managed to get through it, so it was okay. The first piece of this
challenge was being paired up with one person and telling them your life story.
Now, I know many people probably say this, but my life story is not really a super
exiting one. I consider it to be pretty standard and basic even though in some ways
it is different from the average life. I suppose because this is what I think is normal
and that s maybe why I don t consider my life story to be overly exiting. At least for
right now. But with that, I ll get into a brief summary of what my life story is. I
was born in Calgary at Peterlauheed hospital, I had to have an emergency c section
because my heart rest kept slowing down. Then after I was born they found that
there was actually a second placenta so I could have potentially been a twin. I was
Examples Of Diction In The Tempest
Shakespeare, in this passage from The Tempest, uses diction and imagery to
illustrate the ambiguous line between man and monster. This monologue is
famous for its poetic language and the fact that it is Caliban who performs it.
Caliban is seen throughout the play as a monster. However, in this passage, the
notion that Caliban is purely a monster is challenged. In this passage, diction is
used to create tone. In the beginning of the passage, Caliban reassures his
companions, Stephano and Trinculo, of the noises that frightened them. Caliban
uses words such as sweet and delight to describe the sounds. These words
demonstrate the enchantment Caliban experiences for the island. Moreover, he
says that the noises make him sleep and that they cause him to dream. The word
dream is one that implies an illusion, deceptive and elusive in nature. This
attributes a degree of poignancy to Caliban s words. Finally, at the end of his
monologue, Caliban says that after he wakes, he [cries] to dream again (III.ii.135).
His words show misery. The feelings expressed in the excerpt display a more
sensitive side of Caliban.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the passage, Caliban describes the sounds of a thousand twangling instruments
(III.ii.129). Twangling instruments include stringed instruments such as the lute or
harp. The image produced by this phrase is one of an almost ethereal nature.
Caliban s words reflect his fondness for the island as well as a level of
sophistication. Furthermore, Caliban describes his dreams where the clouds...open,
and show riches (III.ii.133). Caliban dreams of power and wealth, aspirations that
are shared by other characters of the play. The image produced by this phrase is an
almost noble one. The imagery in this passage portrays Caliban s eloquence and
attachment to the

Client is asked coping questions and the miracle question. Coping questions
consist of asking the client questions on how they plan on dealing with a situation.
An example of this would be what would you do when someone is drinking in

client if they woke up tomorrow and all their problems were gone how would they

considered the lowest and 10 is considered the highest. Clients who have problems
with bringing their thoughts together to answer the miracle question sometime do
better with scaling questions. An example of this would be on a scale from 1 to 10

The goal is to foster an open and supportive culture. The procedures are in place to
make sure that help and advice is offered when needed and to ensure that the
employee is fit to return to work. Employees will usually appreciate the opportunity to
explain genuine reasons for absence within a formalized structure. Should the
supervisor doubt the authenticity of the reasons given for absence, he/she should use
this opportunity to express any doubts or concerns. At all times, the employee must
be aware that the interview is not merely part of company procedures, but a
significant meeting during which the absence has been noted and may have
implications for future employment. The company s disciplinary procedure, in the
event of unacceptable levels of absence, should be explained to the employee. The
manager may choose to outline how the absence affected the department. The
message should be that the employee was missed and that productivity suffered. The
manner in which the department was required to reorganize staffing arrangements
might also be explained. This would demonstrate that the efficiency of the work unit
was adversely affected by the absence. The supervisor should then brief the returning
employee about the current situation (i.e., what tasks are now priorities, what work
has already been carried out and where the employee should now focus his/her
efforts). At no point during the meeting should the interview become a form of

ample amount of data needs to be managed in order to use this data at any time. This
is known as Big Data Management (BDM). Big Data management is around two
things big information and information management. Big Data Management serves
as the essential step for overseeing and administrating huge amount of information
called as Big Data in the organizations.
The security of data is another huge concern of Big Data Management which is
expanding with the increase in Big Data. Big Data Management is not only
restricted to storage of ample data. It also offers data security and integrity. This
gets to be the greatest preference of Big Data Management which makes the
associations to adopt BDM and also to create new technique for managing Big Data.
Precision of data is guaranteed in this way. Otherwise it would be troublesome for
the enterprises to tackle with the beast of Big Data.
Management of Big Data does not only cover the area of managing Big Data. It also
The Planets Of The Solar System
The Nine Planets of the Solar System , which is an article posted on the NASA

Earth has many characteristics that can be analyzed and compared to human
emotions. In the article, NASA states, many characteristics, and those being:
moderate temperature, a hot core, an atmospheric field that burns projectiles before
hitting Earths surface, a moon, and multiple natural activities which damages the
Earth s internal and external characteristics. Therefore, Earth s beauty and vast miles

most common and familiar characteristics is Earth. Earth is our home planet which
makes it even better because it s so comfortable to be in Earth as how people are

Heroism, Magic and Retribution in Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit
A fantasy is an imaginary world where all things imaginable can be brought to life.
J.R.R Tolkien portrayed fantasy through his use of skilled craftsmanship and a vivid
imagination, which was presented in each piece of literature he wrote. In Tolkien s
two stories The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings we see the theme of fantasy brought
to life through three essential elements, heroism, magic and retribution. Heroism is
shown through the character s courage and bravery in situations where conflict
arises and this enables them to be seen in a new light. Magic is a form of
extraordinary power seemingly through a supernatural force; it is used in a
combination of combat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a child this character encountered Smaug for the first time while fleeing the
ruination of their city; now even though Bard was overcome with the fear that
every mortal has when they are near one of these tremendous beasts, he was
determined to stand his ground due to the love he had for their small town. He was
able to accomplish this impossible task because a small thrush perched on his
shoulder and told him of the one weak spot of the dragon, the hollow of its left
breast. Bard then inflicted death upon the terrible Smaug with his last arrow and was
nearly killed himself by the tremendous weight of the beast in the process, but he
jumped out of the way and into the water just in the nick of time. With a shriek that
deafened man, felled trees and split stone, Smaug shot spouting into the air, turned
over and crashed down from high in ruin. (229)
A character that displays the traits of heroism is one who overcomes the odds
through the use of unique and valuable qualities; this remains just as true in The
Lord of the Rings as it does in The Hobbit. One truly heroic act occurred when
Gandalf the Great, determined to defend the fellowship took on a Balrog, this huge,
bat like source of evil stood on the bridge to freedom and did battle with the poor
mage. Gandalf, stricken with fear caused the bridge to collapse and with it fell the
Balrog. However, with one last effort
Allegiant by Veronica Roth
Currently, I have been reading Allegiant by Veronica Roth. It is about a faction
based society that Tris Prior once believed in, but now due to violence, loss, and
betrayal, it is shattered. So when she and other Dauntless members, one of the
factions, offered a chance to explored past the limits she s known. She thinks that
beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a new life together, free from lies, untrue
loyalties, and painful memories. However, when the group finally gets there, it is
nothing as she expected it to be. Old explanations are fake. New truths change the
minds and hearts of those she loves. Once again, Tris has to battle to discover the
complexities of human nature and face impossible choices using courage, allegiance,
sacrifice, and love.
As Allegiant begins, the new head of Chicago, Tobias mother, considers the release
of the video, a video from the past about the factions, to be an act of rebellion for
some unknown reason. Now, the Factionless have control of the city, and they have
dissolved the factions, which makes most people angry. A new factionbrews: the
Allegiant; they believe in the authority of the released video and wish to keep the
breaking factions. Tris, Four and their Divergent friends find their way into the
Allegiant faction to form an escape plan. The group loses one beloved character
along the way, but they make it out of the city with ease. Before they get too far, they
are met with other Divergent who are waiting for them.
Jason Taylor Analysis
Jason DeCaires Taylor is an eco artist from Britain that often focuses on marine
issues, and more specifically the concern of the current state of coral reefs. Coral
reefs are one of the world s most fragile but most important ecosystems. Human
behavior is constantly endangering the status of its health and species that thrive on
it. To attract wildlife and help sustain coralreefs, Jason Taylor creates breathtaking and
chilling sculptures that serve as artificial reefs. Their composition consists of pH
balanced concrete and reinforced with fiberglass. His sculptures usually feature
statues of humans that are placed about 9 meters under the ocean. He often draws
attention to man s relationship with nature with his artworks that are eerie enough...

are the near perfect artificial environments for Coral Reefs. The 400 sculptures

of the world. Eventually, this extensive art piece will be completely covered by
marine life transforming the original sculptures into a different state which also

everyone has a prince charming and in order to be a princess you have to be some

Leadership Theory And Leadership Development
INTRODUCTION
As the world changes and progress, it becomes more complex than before. The
advances in technology, the globalization that opened and bridged the economies of
the world, political and social factors contributed to people s need of continuous
development. So as an important parameter of the ongoing need of innovation and
changes of the nature of work, leadership development becomes essential part of the
success of the organisations. The aim of this paper, is to try and identify if all people
in all organisations should be given the opportunity of leadership development and
discuss one aspect of leadership theory, the approaches and limitations of the
leadership development.
LEADERSHIP THEORY

It is said, that one of the most common leadership style that business adopt is based
on transformational leadership theory. (www.mindtools.com).
Transformational leadership theory is about creating a high performance workforce
by stimulating people s realization of their potentials and achieve goals beyond their
requirements. To be able and adopt the changes into the organisations culture and
inspire people to follow, they must cultivate the four I model which exhibits four
factors: idealized influence, individualized consideration, intellectual stimulation and
inspirational motivation. (Avolio, Waldman Yammarino, 1991).
Idealized influence talks about the leader becoming a role model for the followers,
someone to trust and respect, and as a result to idealize him and his ideas.
Individualized consideration factor is how leaders promotes themselves as mentors
to their followers. Followers are supported by their leaders and reward them for
being creative and innovative, thus they also provide them with the feeling of
empowerment of being free to make their own decisions.
Intellectual stimulation is when leaders encourage the followers to be innovative
and creative. There is support from the leaders for new ideas without criticizing
mistakes committed by the followers and are keen to disregard old practices and
Netflix Executive Summary
PROBLEM
This report has been designed to understand where the video market is today, what
consumer trends are, and how to stay ahead of competitors. This report will research
these three points:
Offsetting declining DVD market (1/3 of current Netflix revenue)
Staying ahead of key competitors, such as Amazon
How Netflix can continue expanding business opportunities
BACKGROUND
Netflix was established in 1997 and their monthly subscription concept was
released in 1999. By 2009, Netflix offered a collection of 100,000 titles on DVD and
surpassed 10 million subscribers. In February 2007, they delivered their billionth
DVD and began shifting to video streaming. DVD sales steadily fell from 2006 to
2011, however the growth in video streaming, allowed company sales to continue to
grow.
Netflix had 2,337 employees and annual sales of $4.13 billion dollars as of the end
of 2013. In April 2014, Netflix approached 50 million global subscribers with a
growth in video streaming market share in the United States. Netflix operates in 41
countries around the world. Netflix has 50 million global subscribers, with 36 million
of them being in the United States.
Netflix charges approximately $8 monthly for a streaming membership, and an
additional $8 for DVD delivery. While Netflix is still the leader in the industry, the
competition of Amazon Prime is a growing threat. Amazon has started aggressively
acquiring more quality content to compete with Netflix. Amazon charges
Pros And Cons Of Being Poor
Being poor is expensive. The poor pay more for everything when the middle class
pays less. That s unfair it should be the other way around or just fair in general.
Everyone should pay the same for everything. The poor also pay more for car
insurance. Poor people pay about $400 more than the middle class only because in
poor areas the accident rates are higher. Poor people pay more for food. The poor
don t get the better half of the deal. The wealthy have advantages that the poor don
t have. Even though poor people barely have money they still pay more than the
wealthy for the same thing. According to The Atlantic It s a paradoxical fact that
being poor frequently results in having to spend more, not less, than other people
on goods and services. People usually spend about $500 on car insurance, but if
people live in poor neighborhoods where theft and accident rates are higher they
pay about $400 more. People may think that being poor is cheap or that the poor
spend their money on unnecessary things but that s not the case. Yes, people do
spend their money on things they don t need, but when people have money and
they can afford the things they want they get the urge to buy it. Being poor is
horrible enough, but if they have to support children it s even worse. People still
have to pay bills, put food on the table, put gas in cars, they have to buy clothes for
themselves and their kids, and whenever they get a check from their job they have to
pay fees so they don t even

As a junior in high school, I started getting emails from a division three college
known as Carleton. The purpose of these messages was to recruit me to come play
football for them. After multiple exchanges, I then got in touch with their running
back coach and recruiting coordinator, Coach Jerome Smith. I later found out that
Coach Smith got his master s degree in athletic administration from Indiana
University and had connections to the football program here as well. While he took
classes towards his degree, he also worked closely with the football team as an
operations intern and quality control coach. After recognizing his connection to
Indiana University, I reached out to him via text message to see if we could discuss

His idea of planning does not differ from what I learned in class; however, if I had

this field. Also, his outlook on division three athletics resembles what the book
says. They do not have a lot of money to bring in students; therefore, they must
focus on providing a fun environment for the players that do decide to play for
them. I really enjoyed this experience because it made me want to branch out and
gain as much experience as I can. Coach Smith started right where I am at and is
currently in the process of working his way up through the ranks, hoping to reach the
division one level eventually. As he pushed his way from quality control coach here
at Indiana, to coach at Marian University, and then through multiple division three
schools, Coach Smith took a small amount of knowledge from every position he
held. Now, he finally got himself to an opportunity to learn how to coach and
effectively recruit players to come to his school. Overall, I believe this interview was
an important step for me to reach my career goals and I will use this experience to
grow as a coach. I feel that this assignment is one that students should take seriously
because it forces you to reach out to individuals that you may not have otherwise
contacted. Being one step closer to my career goals, I can thank Coach Smith for
teaching me to branch out and connect with as many people as possible just as he
Goals For College Freshman Essay
James Mason Wood said, Education today, more than ever before, must see clearly
the dual objectives: education for living and education for making a living. When
people go to school because they have to, then it is only education for living.
When people try hard and get a good education, then they get good jobs to make a
living. West Texas A M University, home of the Buffaloes, will provide me with
new skills to learn about the medical field and can assist me to become an
anesthesiologist. Before being able to apply for WTAMU, there is some
requirements college freshmen need to have and they also have to go through
admissions. Before being able to register, incoming students need to have certain
amounts of credits from their high school. They need to have four English credits,
four for math, four for science, three and a half for social science, half a credit for
economics, one for physical education, one for speech, and six credits of electives
(WTAMU). College freshmen also need to have their meningitis shot up to date
before they are allowed into a classroom. They also need to submit their high school
transcripts. To be able to get accepted to WTAMU, students need to obtain 2.0 GPA.
They also need to have certain ACT and SATscores. If the student is in the top 25%
of the class, they have no minimum ACT or SAT score. If they are in the 26% to
50% they need to have an ACT score of 18 or an 860 to 940 on the SAT. If the

Both authors wrote about the same topic, the pioneers, but they chose two different
styles to base their book on. The Pioneers founded our nation, they built the
railroads, they helped teach in schools, they made life easier for us by building
machines, like sewing machines. Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder,
is a fictionbook about her life living on the prairie. The book tells us what life was

The conflict plays a big part in the book because it provides the climax of the story.
It s what the character is fighting with or against. There are two types of conflict,
external and internal. External conflict is when a character is against an outside
force. Internal conflict is when the character is experiencing two different desires ,
such as good vs. evil thoughts. The conflict in Little House on the Prairie is
external because soldiers are coming in from New York to take the white settlers
off of the Indian s land. The Ingalls have their farm and house three miles over the
line of Indian territory on the Indian s side, so they have to move. The conflict in
the book Words West is also external because on the trail many people died of

Prayer at Public School Athletic Events
Can We Get a Moment of

If public schools are just that, public, then why is the issue of prayer in school such a
prominent and controversial debate especially when most of the public wants prayer
in school?
The first amendment grants the right to free speech, yet everyday students are

quot;My heart s for it, but I think a moment of silence is just as effective. quot; Said
Olins Hooks, a high school football fan. That idea is totally possible. No one would
feel as though a faith is being quot;pushed quot; on them, and at the same time
everyone could choose if they would like to say a

possible solution for schools who choose to lead a quot;prayer quot; type situation.
Creating a quot;universal type prayer, quot; is a difficult task, considering you have

Change In Soldier s Home And The Things They Carried
Change War is something that changes someone and their live so much to even
year after they are still affected by what they experienced and saw. A common
theme in Soldier s Home and The Things They Carried is going to war, which is an
experience that affects people emotionally, mentally and changed their ability to
connect with people. In Soldiers Home , Krebs was affected by the war
emotionally because when he gets back from the war he realizes that he doesn t
belong in his childhood home and decides to leave. Krebs s also realised along that
he can t relate to anyone back home. I don t love anybody (Hemingway 7). When
Krebs tells his mother that he doesn t love anybody, he doesn t mean that he doesn t

Career And Technical Education
Including Career and Technical Education Teachers in the IEP Process: The Need For

The current mantra of the American education system is to equip students with the
skills and knowledge required to be college and career ready. This is not an easy
task for educational leadership given the diversity of students served in public
education. While programs and services exist to support students in their individual

modalities of data sources, it would be appropriate to have a quick look at the data
warehouse history and architectural framework and how ICICI Bank s data
warehouse has evolved over the years. Back in 2008 ICICI Bank used Teradata and
was dependent on Teradata for its data warehouse. Back in those days the size of
the data warehouse was 3TB. Because of the dramatic growth in the amount of data,
user population and the source stations coupled by cost of scaling and maintenance
as well as system availability, posed a problem for the bank in using their legacy
data warehouse solution. The bank felt that its legacy data warehouse solution posed
scalability issues and the major issue that bank faced was with
Ludwig Van Beethoven And The Romantic Era
In order to explore the career of Ludwig van Beethoven, and his bridging the gap
between the classical and romantic eras of music, this essay will examine the style
of music and its features, most commonly associated with the Classical era (1750
1820), and those of the Romantic era (1815 1820) . It will look at some musical
examples from Beethoven s work, how they fit into each of the eras, and also how
they transition from one era to the next. Beethoven s career spans both eras
mentioned above, from his public debut in Vienna in 1795 to his death in 1827.
This essay will strive to explore the reasons why Beethoven is called a transitional
composer. To begin a discussion on the classical era, let us first look at some typical
musical features of the era and how Beethoven used and developed them in his works.

Looking at melody lines to begin with, composers in the romantic era tended to use
longer phrases which were more songlike. Melodies tended to lead to a climax or
peak and the use of chromaticism and expression increased. Beethoven s
development of expression was second to none, some of this possibly owing to the
trauma that he suffered, both as a boy, in the hands of his father, and as a man with
his increasing deafness and the unrequited love. Beethoven s music sets in motion
the lever of fear, of awe, of horror, of suffering, and wakens just that infinite longing
which is the essence of romanticism. Beethoven s symphony in C minor was
mentioned earlier in this essay, and was used to show features of the classical era.
This symphony epitomises the transition from classical to romantic as it contains the
forward moving features of the romantic era as well. The longer melody line climbs
and climaxes and leads the listener forward into the spirit of the
Entry Strategy of H M
Since H M opened the first shop in Sweden in 1947, using an American concept of
shops selling stylish clothes with low prices bring H M successful in the domestic
market. H M started to expand internationally from 1964. Not only Europe market, H
M also enter in North America, Asia and Middle East market.

What is the Wholly Owned Subsidiary ?
When H M decided to enter American market, management use wholly owned
subsidiary as entry strategy for H M using. Why H M decide to use wholly owned
subsidiary to enter into America? It will discuss later.
Wholly owned subsidiary is the operation in a host country that are fully owned by a
foreign parent firm. Company can involve marketing, assembly or full scale
integrated production operation. Also, company is necessary for capital investment
to undertake the ownership option. For this strategy, H M can own the stock 100
percent and set up a new operation in a foreign country as Greenfield Venture.
Why H M choose Wholly Owned Subsidiary
One of the advantages of wholly owned subsidiary is that H M has a free hand to
establish the strategy for the subsidiary including marketing strategy, production,
even window design. It enables H M to keep all the profit from American market and
don t need to share profit with partners.
As H M mainly take the way of investing directly in the American market, wholly
owned subsidiary can make H M have tight control over operation which is another
advantage. Everything can be under control by H M from the location of shop,
arrangement inside the shop, range of merchandise. Therefore, the stock in American
market can be shared 100% by H M. Finally, a
Potiential Future Effects of Global Warming
Introduction Climate change is one the biggest threats to nature and mankind in the
21st century. The impacts of climate change are visible everywhere, whether it s
melting glaciers, rising sea level, severe storms, heavy flooding, reduced snowfall
in the north and a severe drought in the south. It will also have a number of effects
on the flora and fauna in the future. Scientists predict that global warming in the near
future may cause a mass extinction of wildlife, affecting more than 1 million
species, i.e. about a quarter of all kinds of currently known. World overheating
causes significant changes in climatic conditions and it can damage sensitive
ecosystems in which species live. Sea level rise is a potentially disastrous result of
climate change. Glaciers melt because of the rising temperatures and ocean waters
warm. Therefore, small island developing states and low lying coastal areas are
particularly vulnerable to sea level rise and climatechange. The more sea levels will
rise, the harder will be the situation for the coastal cities, and will be more
impressive to erosion prone coast. Moreover, coastal areas will be exposed to
impressive erosion. Coastal areas have an extremely high population density, since it
is a home to more than 50% of the population, generating over 70% of gross national
product. Moreover, the coastal zone is deeply integrated into the economy, even very
distant from the shore areas and stresses on coastal zones seriously
Fluoride Essay
Poison in the Water
For over 60 years, Americans have been inundated with propaganda proclaiming the
benefits of artificially fluoridating the public s drinking water to prevent tooth decay.
I do not use the term propaganda lightly. In fact the father of modern propaganda,
nephew of Sigmund Freud, Edward Bernays was brought in to sell spiking America s
public water supply with fluoride (Pilger). This was critical to protect the American
Aluminum Company (ALCOA), the world s largest aluminum producer, from
litigation from their workers who were exposed to toxic levels of sodium fluoride.
Fluoride in the public water supply is a detriment to the health of Americans and
provides no positive benefits while presenting great risk. Fluoridated water is poison,
it is proven to decrease IQ, and it is medicating the public with an FDA classified
tranquilizer without the informed consent of the citizens.
Fluoride was first used as a tranquilizer on prisoners prior to World War II. Fluoride
s disturbing history begins in 1924 when the German company I.G. Farben began
receiving loans from wealthy and famous American families, including Henry Ford,
J.D. Rockefeller, and Max Warburg to name a few. Together, they were the world s
largest producers of toxic sodium fluoride as a byproduct of aluminum production
through the ALCOA. The ever inventive Germans had heaps of sodium fluoride
laying around from war time aluminum production, and I.G. Farben decided to find a

Similarities Between King And Julius Caesar
Julius Caesar is only one of the many famous political assassinations. Martin Luther
King Jr. was another political person that was tragically assassinated. Between the
descriptions, the motives, and the effects of the assassinations of Julius Caesar
and Martin Luther King Jr. there are many similarities and differences. On March
15th, a crowd of people entered the Capital where Caesar is going to be crowned.
Caesar jokes with the Soothsayer about the ides of March, CAESAR: (to the
SOOTHSAYER) The ides of March are come. SOOTHSAYER: Ay, Caesar, but not

Caesar was killed by his friends for the good of their city. On the other hand, Martin
was assassinated due to his strong motives for getting equal rights for African
Americans. The motives for the assassinations didn t quite match up either,
depending on how you view them. Martin was killed because his assassin believed
that what he was working towards for America was horribly disgusting. Brutus
killed Caesar for the good of Rome. Outcomes of the assassinations are mostly
similar. When Caesar died, citizens of Rome became outraged with this action. They
began a war. When Martin was killed, African Americans began to push harder and
work harder towards the hopeful future. Again, Julius Caesar wasn t the only political
assassination, Martin Luther King Jr. is on that list

ABSTRACT
Electronic payment of salaries to staff is a new development in the country.
Electronic payment is a process of making payments online through the use of ATM,
Debit cards, credit cards, electronic cheque conversion. Electronic payment of salaries
was introduced so as to monitor ghost workers among the civil servants, to prevent
unnecessary expenses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has been due to four related factors:
1.Proprietary closed network were developed by banks to handle large and
increasingly internationally based payment system.
2.Large value payment are increasingly associated with foreign exchange and global
security transactions thereby becoming divorced from underlying world trade.
3.Large value payment system were not designed nor are they cost effective for small
value payments.
4.Paper base non automated payment systems remain an established part of accepted
business practice for varying institutional reasons thereby remaining in grained in
economic system.
REASONS FOR ELECTRONIC PAYMENT
The reasons for making use of electronic payment to pay staff are:
1.It helps in reducing the traffic in banking halls: This is one of the reasons for
introducing E payments because it helps in reducing corruption and misconduct in
the civil service world e.g. workers bribing accountants because they want to collect
their salaries. (Nwite; 2000).
2.It also makes the work easier and relieves the banking staff of much work to be
done since people can now withdraw their money through other means e.g. ATM,
Debit card etc. (Jhingan 2004).
3.It saves time: Instead of queuing up in the bank to check account balance and to
withdraw money, an SMS alert would have been sent and the customer can make
withdrawal anywhere. (Becks;
A Brief History of Parody Advertisements Essay
In society parody advertisement is commonly used to draw attention to common
issues in society that are normally overlooked. The first type of parody
advertisements were caricatures. In history caricatures were used to prove a point in
politics. Today most parody advertisements express views on alcohol, drugs, and
other common issues that people struggle with to fit in with society. A few examples
of parody advertisements are Absolute on Ice, Barcode Escape, and Feed Me Spoof.
These parody advertisements deal with issues such as: drinking and driving, underage
drinking, money controlling society, the thrifting movement, and anorexia nervosa.
These are common issues that have been around for years but in recent years they
have become a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a good advertisement to show how trapped people are behind material
objects. People label each other behind what they can and can not afford. Certain
people allow money to control their life never realizing that they are imprisoned by
the very thing they thought they could not live without. This advertisement can be
considered a visual for the saying the best things in life are free. If a person spends
their life worrying about material things then they have spent their life imprisoned
by the barcode. Barcode Escape can also be used to advertise how the lower and
middle class society operates today. The people who can not afford name brand
items are finding a way to get the same looks at cheaper prices. Therefore you can
say that they are breaking free of the barcode. They are breaking free from
spending a lump sum of money on one item and they saving by buying less
expensive things. Thrift store shopping has become a big hit among the middle
class and this advertisement can be a symbol of the thrifting movement. Parody
advertisement Feed Me Spoof deals with the most common issues among girls
today, the urge to be super model thin. The advertisement depicts model Kate Moss
looking unhealthy with the words Feed Me next to her head. Moss s face looks sunk
in and her body seems to be very fragile. Nothing about this picture screams
glamorous, which models
The Current Uk Animal Welfare
The current UK animal welfare legislations and their objectives are:
В¬Animal Welfare Act 2006
This Act has for the first time introduced legislation for pet owners meaning that
the owners have a legal duty of care to meet the five welfare needs of their pets. The
welfare needs are also known as the five freedoms and they are the basic needs of any
animal. The law also applies to people who are responsible for animals, such as
breeders and those who keep working animals. (APGAW. No Date)
В¬The Performing Animals (Regulations) Act 1925
This Act regulates the training and exhibition of performing animals as it requires
trainers and exhibitors of those animals to be registered with the local authority. The
premises where animals are being trained and exhibited can be entered by the police
and officers of local authority, which may include a vet. If the police or the local
authority detects cruelty or neglect of the animals the magistrates court can prohibit
or restrict the training or exhibition of the animals and suspend or cancel the trainers
or exhibitor s registration. (APGAW. No Date)
В¬Pet Animals Act 1951
This legislation protects the welfare of animals which are sold as pets. The Act
requires anyone keeping a pet shop to be licenced by the local authority. The local
authority must check that the animals are kept in a clean and suitable
accommodation; are supplied with appropriate food and drink; and are protected
from fire and disease before granting a licence. The
Questions On Business Ethics And Ethics
Introduction to Business Ethics
What Is Ethics?
To understand business ethics one must first understand that there is no general
definition used to define this ethics related topic. Ethics related topics usually include
terms such as morals, principles, ethics and values, which are, in most cases, used
interchangeably. However, Asgary and Mitschow (2002) defines ethicsas the study of
appropriate policies and practices regarding possible controversial issues while
offering recommendations for what is right and what is wrong.
Ethics can be defined in two different ways. Firstly, ethics can refer to substantiated
principles of right and wrong that suggest what persons ought to do, typically in
terms of rights, specific virtues, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, it is incumbent upon individuals to constantly examine their own
standards to ensure that they are rational and apt.
Ethics also means, then, that there is a continuous effort of studying as it relates to
our own moral beliefs and our moral conduct, and that in striving to ensure that we,
live up to principles that are sound.
The standards of ethical and moral behavior come from the understanding that we are
unique beings. These standards are the innate means of justifying the decisions and
actions that are believed to be right, fair, proper, wrong, unfair and improper. We are
all unique individuals who depend on others for much of our human experience,
particularly our social communications with others. When the guidelines for moral
behavior are determined by our societal structure, then some of the social and ethical
dilemmas will be handled differently and will be better equipped and mindful in our
understanding of how to deal with those that behave immorally or unethically
especially in a business environment.
Business Ethics Discussed
In today s business world, law often governs business ethics while in some instances
business ethics provide a basic foundation that businesses should follow in order to
gain public acceptance. Business ethics and business morality as a whole generally
result from a person s own moral principles in the context of the political and cultural
environment in which the organization is

Why I Hate Christian Laettner
In the ESPN s 30 for 30 documentary, I Hate Christian Laettner, the director explores
why the talented, tall, amazing Duke player is arguably the most hated college
basketball player to ever play. The documentary explores the 5 points of Laettner
hate: privilege, white, bully, greatness, and looks. The 5 points help shape how
people perceive Christian Laettner in the past and in the present. I believe that
Laettner did have a certain privilege that many people disliked. I think that it is
interesting that Laettner came from a lower, middle class, blue collar family, but
when people think of Duke student, as opposed to a UNC or NC State student,
people associate Duke with Ivy League interpretations and richer families. Laettner

Laettner knew he was handsome, and he lived the ultimate male college student s
fantasy by being very popular with the ladies on campus. He had this high social
status just from his looks and his abilities on the court that many Duke players and
students loved him. He was basically perceived as an icon at Duke. Meanwhile,
people who hated him may have also thought about how attractive he is, but instead
of loving him, they have resented him because he was perfect . I also think that it
was funny that people tried calling him gay to throw him off, but that fueled him to
shut up the haters by his performance. He would make crowds go silent because he
would just perform so well. I think it is funny that his high social status influenced
that rumor, but it was obvious that the perception didn t match that

  • 2. Filibuster Conclusion A filibuster is a unique tool used in legislation that obstructs the progress of a bill. This obstruction of progress can be conducted in a variety of ways, such as talking a bill to death , or delaying long enough to completely prevent a vote on a bill. Filibustering can be accomplished by one, or several members of the Senate. In recent years, the act of filibustering has become increasingly unpopular amongst the public due to the delay it causes on bill progress in the US Supreme Court, but its initial purpose came from a more helpful standpoint. The embryonic concept of the filibuster was created to guarantee that all opinions were heard completely regardless of their popularity before a bill was voted on. This The filibuster

Venezuelas antidemocratic government and its lack of foresight has created a severe economic crisis crumbling health care system and a lack of basic necessities and is jailing innocent people who object. This delicate subject is affecting millions Venezuelan citizens as well as raising concerns of family members abroad fearing for their kin. It has affected generations so much that many have decided to leave behind jobs, friends and family to flee from its own country. Venezuela is one of the most dangerous countries at present, a dangerous country where economic crises and high inflation, like panic induced runs on banks, generate self serving, defensive behaviors that tend to spiral out of control, (Corrales, 15). Venezuelan citizens are having a really difficult time realizing how bad their country is doing and how their families are trying to survive day by day. A lot of young kids and adults are not currently living in the country because of its condition and situation. There are many Venezuelan citizens who are not even allowed to go because of the fear that if they go and visit they could get killed. Monica Spear
  • 5. Artemisia as a Feminist Nanette Salomon, a very well known feminist writer, wrote the article, Judging Artemisia: A Baroque Woman in Modern Art History. The article opens up with a discussion about the 2001 2 exhibition of Orazio and Artemisia Gentileschi: Father and Daughter Painters in Baroque Italy. The author explains that three things are unusual here: the fact that two famous artists were presented at the same time, that they were related as father and daughter, and the fact that the woman was better known than the man. Her intent in this article is to look at the effects of this trope (figure of speech) in the past and in the present. Salomon argues that this comparison technique has been the main feature or art historical analysis. It puts a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The author also talks about the story of Susanna and the Elders. Apparently Artemisia Gentileschi painted three versions of this biblical story at three different stages in her life, 1610, 1622, and 1649. The author did a comparison on the three Susanna paintings and she argues that it is noticeable that the abstracting qualities of the 1610 painting change its concept or meaning from one form of story telling to another. She argues that the abstract form of story telling serves the purpose of finding a visual equivalent to the deafening silence . She explains that the 1622 Susanna and the Elders speaks a different language, and so does the 1649 version. Nanette Salomon emphasizes that there are different ways to make sense of the changes in Artemisia s three Susannas . One explanation may be that Artemisia s work show progressive naturalism or realism which can be attributed to her development as an artist. Judging Artemisia Gentileschi is a practice that is believed to have begun at the same time as aesthetic judgment, back in the time of Vasari in the late sixteenth century. To me, those are the main points of the article by Nanette Salomon. I think that she made a very good historical and psychological approach on the subject. The strength of this article is that she provides a lot of historical facts, and blends it together with her words and opinion.
  • 6. The Story Of The Western Wing, The Peony Pavilion, And The... In traditional Chinese theater, females, and particularly young girls, are perceived as property. Their role in society is to get married to a male from another family of equal or higher social status. In fact, the role of a woman is so set and stone that no matter how they were brought up, whether or not they are noble or educated, does not seem to contribute to their destined fate. The traditional Chinese society is so specific and consistent in determining the fate of females based on social hierarchy that females seem to have no choice in the matter. Often, the decision is made by their parents and the females are forced to simply comply. In three classic Chinese operas, The Story of the Western Wing, The Peony Pavilion, and The Peach Blossom Fan, the main female characters strive to move against societal norms by choosing their own destinies, hence choosing their male partners. The classics make this freedom so valuable to the point that it is almost unachievable. By creating female leads who fight against their own destinies, authors of each play use irony to criticize traditional Chinese social structure. To show this irony, three heroines whom are all upper class, educated, and very sheltered by their families and societal role of a womanare struck by grief when deciding to choose their own fate. Although the freedom and approval of loveshould be considered a premium lifestyle for its time, the impossible nature of the opportunity leads to unconceivable

Hawthorne introduces Hester Prynne on the town scaffold, wearing her stamp of shame the Scarlet Letter and squashes her infant against her bosom in fear of her punishment for committing adultery. The infant, Pearl Prynne, flourishes into a stubborn, wild child whose clever and inquisitive nature exceeds any child her age. While Pearl is confined within a bubble of solitude, she is left to wonder about the identity of her unknown father. Pearl is shunned by the children in Boston, and she seeks comfort in the forest that is free from the corrupt Puritan society. Although some may argue that Pearl s future prosperity is unaffected ... In the rare instance when Dimmesdale shows fondness towards Pearl in secrecy of the forest, he bends forward and impressed [a kiss] on her brow. Hereupon, Pearl broke from her mother, and... bathed her forehead, until the unwelcome kiss was quite washed off, and diffused through a long lapse of the gliding water (Hawthorne, 194). Pearl s response to the kiss exemplifies her inability to love; this destruction is caused by Dimmesdale s incompetence to claim being Pearl s father. As children who do not receive care from both parents are incapable of blossoming, Pearl s maturation is halted from a lack of a father figure early on in her childhood. Some may argue that Dimmesdale s neglect of Pearl both parents. In turn, Hester and Pearl s mother daughter relationship is strengthened. This argument is supported from Hester receiving letters from Pearl; this shows the strong long distance relationship that Pearl and Hester maintain (293). Nevertheless, Pearl is left with no father image. If Dimmesdale truly cared about the relationship with his daughter, he would have fought to live instead of leaving Pearl, one again, abandoned by her

  • 10. Modern Day Era And Its Impact On Our Society Humans have been communicating with each other as long as the human race can remember. It has been the essences of our survival allowing us to be able to pass on our knowledge, express ideas, and covey emotions. As time passed, we have learned different methods to communicate. For example, we have learned to communicate with words and symbols which has helped us evolve and form a foundation for our society. Words and symbols have allowed to us expand our ability to communicate and the ability to express our ideas in a greater way. Typography has become one of the most influential ways that we use to communicate in this modern day era; and it plays a major role in our society. Typography essentially is found everywhere from posters to books, magazines to signs and generally anywhere where type is involved. Now the history of type itself is quite long which definitely states that type has come a long way and has a great history behind it. Two of the most well known movements in type, which introduced new principals and brought change to type, would be the Bauhausmovement and Futurist movement. These two movements have brought forth change and principals that have influenced the typography work in todays world. In this essay I will be discussing how the Bauhaus movement and the Futurist movement are different in terms of their philosophy of type, the characteristics and works of art. The philosophy of these two movements are different in terms of how they both follow

Most of the time conflict is looked at as a negative experience that most people refuse to be a part of because of their own lack of conflict management skills; but if both parties are willing to sit down and discuss the issue, there is a possibility of a positive ... • 12. Axolotl Research Paper Six adult axolotls (including a leucistic specimen) were shipped from Mexico City to the Jardin des Plantes in Paris in 1863. Unaware of their neoteny, Auguste DumГ©ril was surprised when, instead of the axolotl, he found in the vivarium a new species, similar to the salamander. This discovery was the starting point of research about neoteny. It is not certain that Ambystoma velasci specimens were not included in the original shipment. Vilem Laufberger of Germany used thyroid hormone injections to induce an axolotl to grow into a terrestrial adult salamander. The experiment was repeated by Englishman Julian Huxley, who was unaware the experiment had already been done, using ground thyroids. Since the embryos survive almost to hatching with no heart function, the defect is very observable. • 14. The Importance Of Citizenship In American History 1.How was citizenship historically defined, and how did that definition change over time? As stated in the film The House We Live In: Race The Power of an Illusion Whiteness was key to citizenship. , in the United States. Being white was subjectively understood, it did not necessarily indicate your ancestry. The Court would make decisions about who was considered white or black under the law. Congress had passed an act in 1790 declaring that only free white immigrants could become naturalized citizens. Naturalization was extended to persons of African descent after the Civil War. Even still white citizens were the only ones who had the right to vote and participate in government duties as well as having access to better jobs. You could only gain the full benefits of being an American citizen if you were white. As stated by Giddens, Duneier, Appelbaum and Carr (2015), In modern societies, most people living within the borders of the political system are citizens having common rights and duties and knowing themselves to be members of a national community. (p.396). The definition of citizenship changed over time because at first in order to be a naturalized citizen in the United States you had to be characterized as white or black. But with so many immigrants coming into the country of all different races, being defined as either white or black presented as a problem. In 1857 (Dred Scott) African Americans were not considered citizens and were not granted citizenship

The first sets the scene (lines 1 9), the second adds detail (lines 10 30) and the final section reflects on what this tells the poet about society as a whole. The whole of Nothing s Changed has been written in present tense. Although he is recalling a past experience, it is as if the poet is re living the experience as he writes. The language that is used highlights the impression that segregation still exists words and phrases such as labouring , anger and mean make the reader engage with the poet s emotions. His anger is described as hot, white, inwards turning / anger . Literary features used in the poem are alliteration, repetition and assonance. Comparison is done between the inn and the cafГѓ . To be quite honest, this was a little challenging for me, as I don t really care to talk about my life, though it was a tad bit easier as through the rotation I was paid with people I was reasonable close with so I did not feel judged. I feel as though we were to do this assignment because it goes hand in hand with the life view and work view compasses. It gets us to think about who we really are and maybe what gave us the perspectives we had on those views. Either way it was an interesting challenged and I managed to get through it, so it was okay. The first piece of this challenge was being paired up with one person and telling them your life story. Now, I know many people probably say this, but my life story is not really a super exiting one. I consider it to be pretty standard and basic even though in some ways it is different from the average life. I suppose because this is what I think is normal and that s maybe why I don t consider my life story to be overly exiting. At least for right now. But with that, I ll get into a brief summary of what my life story is. I was born in Calgary at Peterlauheed hospital, I had to have an emergency c section because my heart rest kept slowing down. • 18. Examples Of Diction In The Tempest Shakespeare, in this passage from The Tempest, uses diction and imagery to illustrate the ambiguous line between man and monster. This monologue is famous for its poetic language and the fact that it is Caliban who performs it. Caliban is seen throughout the play as a monster. However, in this passage, the notion that Caliban is purely a monster is challenged. In this passage, diction is used to create tone. In the beginning of the passage, Caliban reassures his companions, Stephano and Trinculo, of the noises that frightened them. Caliban uses words such as sweet and delight to describe the sounds. These words demonstrate the enchantment Caliban experiences for the island. Moreover, he says that the noises make him sleep and that they cause him to dream. The word dream is one that implies an illusion, deceptive and elusive in nature. This attributes a degree of poignancy to Caliban s words. Finally, at the end of his monologue, Caliban says that after he wakes, he [cries] to dream again (III.ii.135). His words show misery. Heroism, Magic and Retribution in Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit A fantasy is an imaginary world where all things imaginable can be brought to life. J.R.R Tolkien portrayed fantasy through his use of skilled craftsmanship and a vivid imagination, which was presented in each piece of literature he wrote. In Tolkien s two stories The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings we see the theme of fantasy brought to life through three essential elements, heroism, magic and retribution. Heroism is shown through the character s courage and bravery in situations where conflict arises and this enables them to be seen in a new light. As a child this character encountered Smaug for the first time while fleeing the ruination of their city; now even though Bard was overcome with the fear that every mortal has when they are near one of these tremendous beasts, he was determined to stand his ground due to the love he had for their small town. He was able to accomplish this impossible task because a small thrush perched on his shoulder and told him of the one weak spot of the dragon, the hollow of its left breast. Bard then inflicted death upon the terrible Smaug with his last arrow and was nearly killed himself by the tremendous weight of the beast in the process, but he jumped out of the way and into the water just in the nick of time. With a shriek that deafened man, felled trees and split stone, Smaug shot spouting into the air, turned over and crashed down from high in ruin. Everyone should pay the same for everything. The poor also pay more for car insurance. Poor people pay about $400 more than the middle class only because in poor areas the accident rates are higher. Poor people pay more for food. The poor don t get the better half of the deal. The wealthy have advantages that the poor don t have. Even though poor people barely have money they still pay more than the wealthy for the same thing. According to The Atlantic It s a paradoxical fact that being poor frequently results in having to spend more, not less, than other people on goods and services. People usually spend about $500 on car insurance, but if people live in poor neighborhoods where theft and accident rates are higher they pay about $400 more. People may think that being poor is cheap or that the poor spend their money on unnecessary things but that s not the case. Yes, people do spend their money on things they don t need, but when people have money and they can afford the things they want they get the urge to buy it. Being poor is horrible enough, but if they have to support children it s even worse. People still have to pay bills, put food on the table, put gas in cars, they have to buy clothes for themselves and their kids, and whenever they get a check from their job they have to pay fees so they don t even

It will look at some musical examples from Beethoven s work, how they fit into each of the eras, and also how they transition from one era to the next. Beethoven s career spans both eras mentioned above, from his public debut in Vienna in 1795 to his death in 1827. Beethoven s music sets in motion the lever of fear, of awe, of horror, of suffering, and wakens just that infinite longing which is the essence of romanticism. • 45. Potiential Future Effects of Global Warming Introduction Climate change is one the biggest threats to nature and mankind in the 21st century. The impacts of climate change are visible everywhere, whether it s melting glaciers, rising sea level, severe storms, heavy flooding, reduced snowfall in the north and a severe drought in the south. It will also have a number of effects on the flora and fauna in the future. Scientists predict that global warming in the near future may cause a mass extinction of wildlife, affecting more than 1 million species, i.e. about a quarter of all kinds of currently known. World overheating causes significant changes in climatic conditions and it can damage sensitive ecosystems in which species live. Sea level rise is a potentially disastrous result of climate change. Glaciers melt because of the rising temperatures and ocean waters warm. Therefore, small island developing states and low lying coastal areas are particularly vulnerable to sea level rise and climatechange. The more sea levels will rise, the harder will be the situation for the coastal cities, and will be more impressive to erosion prone coast. Moreover, coastal areas will be exposed to impressive erosion. Coastal areas have an extremely high population density, since it is a home to more than 50% of the population, generating over 70% of gross national product. Moreover, the coastal zone is deeply integrated into the economy, even very distant from the shore areas and stresses on coastal zones seriously

Fluoride Essay Poison in the Water For over 60 years, Americans have been inundated with propaganda proclaiming the benefits of artificially fluoridating the public s drinking water to prevent tooth decay. I do not use the term propaganda lightly. In fact the father of modern propaganda, nephew of Sigmund Freud, Edward Bernays was brought in to sell spiking America s public water supply with fluoride (Pilger). This was critical to protect the American Aluminum Company (ALCOA), the world s largest aluminum producer, from litigation from their workers who were exposed to toxic levels of sodium fluoride. Fluoride in the public water supply is a detriment to the health of Americans and provides no positive benefits while presenting great risk. Fluoridated water is poison, it is proven to decrease IQ, and it is medicating the public with an FDA classified tranquilizer without the informed consent of the citizens. Fluoride was first used as a tranquilizer on prisoners prior to World War II. Fluoride s disturbing history begins in 1924 when the German company I.G. Farben began receiving loans from wealthy and famous American families, including Henry Ford, J.D. Rockefeller, and Max Warburg to name a few. Together, they were the world s largest producers of toxic sodium fluoride as a byproduct of aluminum production through the ALCOA. The ever inventive Germans had heaps of sodium fluoride laying around from war time aluminum production, and I.G. Farben decided to find a use other

Martin Luther King Jr. was another political person that was tragically assassinated. Between the descriptions, the motives, and the effects of the assassinations of Julius Caesar and Martin Luther King Jr. there are many similarities and differences. On March 15th, a crowd of people entered the Capital where Caesar is going to be crowned. Caesar jokes with the Soothsayer about the ides of March, CAESAR: (to the SOOTHSAYER) The ides of March are come. SOOTHSAYER: Ay, Caesar, but not gone. On the other hand, Martin was assassinated due to his strong motives for getting equal rights for African Americans. The motives for the assassinations didn t quite match up either, depending on how you view them. Martin was killed because his assassin believed that what he was working towards for America was horribly disgusting. Brutus killed Caesar for the good of Rome. Outcomes of the assassinations are mostly similar. When Caesar died, citizens of Rome became outraged with this action. They began a war. When Martin was killed, African Americans began to push harder and work harder towards the hopeful future. Again, Julius Caesar wasn t the only political assassination, Martin Luther King Jr. is on that list

This is a good advertisement to show how trapped people are behind material objects. People label each other behind what they can and can not afford. Certain people allow money to control their life never realizing that they are imprisoned by the very thing they thought they could not live without. This advertisement can be considered a visual for the saying the best things in life are free. If a person spends their life worrying about material things then they have spent their life imprisoned by the barcode. Barcode Escape can also be used to advertise how the lower and middle class society operates today. The people who can not afford name brand items are finding a way to get the same looks at cheaper prices. Therefore you can say that they are breaking free of the barcode. They are breaking free from spending a lump sum of money on one item and they saving by buying less expensive things. Thrift store shopping has become a big hit among the middle class and this advertisement can be a symbol of the thrifting movement. To understand business ethics one must first understand that there is no general definition used to define this ethics related topic. Ethics related topics usually include terms such as morals, principles, ethics and values, which are, in most cases, used interchangeably. However, Asgary and Mitschow (2002) defines ethicsas the study of appropriate policies and practices regarding possible controversial issues while offering recommendations for what is right and what is wrong. Ethics also means, then, that there is a continuous effort of studying as it relates to our own moral beliefs and our moral conduct, and that in striving to ensure that we, live up to principles that are sound. The standards of ethical and moral behavior come from the understanding that we are unique beings. These standards are the innate means of justifying the decisions and actions that are believed to be right, fair, proper, wrong, unfair and improper. We are all unique individuals who depend on others for much of our human experience, particularly our social communications with others. When the guidelines for moral behavior are determined by our societal structure, then some of the social and ethical dilemmas will be handled differently and will be better equipped and mindful in our understanding of how to deal with those that behave immorally or unethically especially in a business environment. Business Ethics Discussed In today s business world, law often governs business ethics while in some instances business ethics provide a basic foundation that businesses should follow in order to gain public acceptance.
