Examples Of Visual Analysis Essays
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Examples of Visual Analysis Essays" can be both challenging
and rewarding. The difficulty lies in the need for a keen eye and a nuanced understanding of
visual elements, as well as the ability to articulate these observations coherently. Visual analysis
essays require a unique set of skills, combining the ability to critically analyze visual content with
effective written communication.
To begin with, the writer must possess a deep understanding of artistic elements such as color,
composition, form, and symbolism. Interpreting these visual cues demands a level of art
appreciation and analytical prowess. Furthermore, conveying these insights in written form
requires a command of language to accurately translate visual experiences into words.
Another challenge lies in structuring the essay. A well-organized visual analysis essay should
have a clear introduction, body paragraphs that delve into specific aspects of the visual content,
and a concise conclusion that summarizes key points. Balancing descriptive and analytical
elements while maintaining a logical flow can be intricate.
Moreover, the choice of examples plays a pivotal role. Selecting visuals that are rich in
symbolism or complexity can enhance the essay, but it also requires a deeper level of engagement
and interpretation. The writer must navigate between surface-level observations and profound
insights, offering a thoughtful analysis that goes beyond mere description.
In conclusion, crafting a compelling essay on the topic of "Examples of Visual Analysis Essays"
demands a combination of artistic insight, analytical skills, and effective communication. Despite
the challenges, successfully navigating through these elements can result in a well-crafted piece
that not only showcases the writer's understanding of visual aesthetics but also engages the
reader intellectually.

A Good Man Is Hard To Find, By O Connor
The theme of nature, environment, and landscape has always been integral in the
development of plot for different genres of literature. Apparently, nature plays a
significant role in the well being of people. Humanity is dependent on the natural
environment for its survival. Recently, there have been numerous threats towards the
environmentwhich when left unchecked lead to its destruction (MacFarlane 2). With
the inception of the relentless efforts to create environmental awareness, different
approaches and avenues have been utilized to ensure the intended message is gotten
by a large section of the public.

Disadvantages Of Account Receivables
Account receivables are used as a type of asset financing to determine the
outstanding invoices or the money owed by the customers. The account
receivables can help finance companies by boosting its cash flows. It focuses on
trying to collect bills from customers. The unpaid invoices are also considered in
the account receivables and referred as bad debts. Bad debts are debts that
customers are not able to pay either because they are bankrupt. In account
receivables financing also known as factoring, gives the company an amount equal
to a reduced value of the unpaid invoices. This type of financing helps the company
to free up the capital that is stuck in unpaid debts. The account receivables financing
companies advances 70 to 90 % of the value of the outstanding invoices, then the
factoring company collect the debts and pays the original company the remainder of
the amount collected minus a fee for the services. This... Show more content on

Asset based lending is an on balance sheet technique and typically comes with
significant fees. Companies commit the majority of their receivables to the program
and have limited flexibility about which receivables are committed. Interest rates on
these loans, as you can imagine, are less than interest rates on an unsecured loan or
line of credit because if the borrower defaults the lender has the ability to seize assets
and attempt to recoup their lending costs. If companies goes bankrupt, companies
that cannot meet their financial obligations can either dissolve or reorganize and start
anew. Federal laws provide bankruptcy protection, govern the right to file and have
jurisdiction over all bankruptcy cases. State laws determine what company assets are
protected in bankruptcy. A bankruptcy filing immediately halts a company s creditors
from debt collection efforts. Collection efforts resume when the bankruptcy court

The Boom Of Dystopian Literature
Dystopian literature established the basis of a modern day science fiction novel

Critics determined that twenty century culture conflicts and deterioration open the
door for the writer s imagination determining the parameters to develop a dystopian
society mostly similar to the actual. The boom of dystopian novels and works was
the response of a government crisis, worldwide conflicts and society oppression due
to the loss of hope and a chaotic loneliness. For the reader and writers, dystopiais not
a far destiny, on the contrary, is what they are living in the past, present and
uncertainty future. Society is confronting an enormous challenge working together

Comparison Between Hamlet And Frankenstein
Have you ever felt responsible for something that has happened to your family? Like
you had a chance to do something about it but you chose not to? This is a common
thought as many people tend to blame themselves for something that they no hand in
creating, without reason. This is not the case in both William Shakespeare s Hamlet
and Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. In both of these pieces of literature the protagonists
rightfully blame themselves for what happens to some of their familymembers as they
either created what caused harm to their families or they did the harming themselves,
albeit unintentionally. Hamlet is charged with the family duty of avenging his father,
while Dr. Frankensteinshould fulfil his obligation to foster his creation. Neither are
able to fully execute their duties and their irresponsible nature causes their own
downfall and the ultimate collapse of their family. The collapse of the protagonists
and their families is brought on by mental anguish, a lack of comfort/love, and tragic
death. Therefore, a son must obey the orders of a father and a father must provide
guidance for his progeny to maintain the family unit. First, the collapse of the
protagonists and their families is brought on by the mental anguish that both
protagonists go through throughout their respective stories. This mental anguish is
brought upon them through their guilt, their carrying a heavy burden, and their
regretting a lot of what they have done. Hamlet feels guilt because

Internet Censorship has negative effects on China
Censorship in China has gained much attention recently because of the conflict
between Google and the Chinese government s self censorship policies. In fact,
censorship has been practiced since ancient China and the intensity only increases by
the years. Nowadays, the most notable measure of censorship is being done on the
Internet. More and more restrictions have been put into actions by the Chinese
government, which make the life of Chinese Internet users, the Chinese netizens, very
inconvenient. With the intensity of censorship increasing and the censoring
technology improving, Internet censorship has mainly negative effects on Chinese
society.
To start ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A famous example took place in May 2006, when Chinese netizens encountered
difficulty connecting to Hotmail, which is an important method to communicate with
foreign partners, since it is used all around the world. Also, soon after this event,
Chinese netizens again reported that the access to POP mailboxes in many mail
providers was difficult. Although Chinese netizens have tried to use blogs and forums
to maintain communication, many blogs have been blocked ever since then,
including Xanga and the LiveJournal. This makes international cooperation difficult.
From this, the efficiency of producing commodities and the quality of the products in
China cannot catch up with international standards, thus the Chinese economy suffers.
Internet censorship and the requirement of self censorship not only harm the
economy inside China, but also are negatively affecting China in aspects of
international commercial trade, even as globalization becomes the trend of today s
world. Chinese Internet censorship is applied to both directions; not only blocks
Chinese Internet users access to certain foreign websites, but also prevents foreigners
from knowing the truth about China through refusal of releasing reliable information.
So when foreign companies want to enter the Chinese market, they face a serious
question: How do you assess an investment opportunity if no reliable information
about social tensions, corruption or
A Short Note On Diabetic Retinopathy ( Dr ) Is The Most...
Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is the most common cause of vision loss in working
aged individuals in developed countries. Diabetic macular edema (DME) is the
main cause of decreased vision in diabetic retinopathy [1]. It was shown that the 10
year cumulative incidence of diabetic macular edema was 20.1% in type 1 diabetes
and 25.4% in patients with type 2 diabetes treated with insulin [2]. The management
of DME includes strict glycemic and blood pressure control [3 5]. Argon laser
treatment for clinically significant macular edema (CSME) has been the mainstay
treatment according to the Early Treatment Diabetic RetinopathyStudy (ETDRS)
study that demonstrated a 50% reduction in moderate visual loss following focal
laser photocoagulation [6,7].
The conventional Argon laser treatment is associated with heat to the surrounding
tissues such as the neurosensory retina and the choroid leading to collateral thermal
damage. The greyish endpoint of a laser burn means that the temperature is high
enough to change the transparency of the retina [8].
Possible side effects of conventional macular laser photocoagulation include visual
loss due to accidental foveal photocoagulation, pre and sub retinal fibrosis, choroidal
neovascularization, visual field scotomas, decreased color vision and progressive
expansion of the laser scars into the fovea [9 12].
Conventional laser photocoagulation produces a continuous wave laser output. On

A Deconstructionist Critique of Chopin’s The
Awakening Essay
A Deconstructionist Critique of Chopin s The Awakening
The multiplicity of meanings and (re)interpretations informing critical studies of The
Awakening reveal a novel ripe for deconstructionist critique. Just as Chopin evokes
an image of the sea as symbolic of Edna s shifting consciousness ( never ceasing,
whispering, clamoring, murmuring, inviting the soul to wander in abysses of
solitude, 138), likewise the deconstructionist reading of a text emphasizes fluidity
over structure: A text consists of words inscribed in and inextricable from the myriad
discourses that inform it; from the point of view of deconstruction, the boundaries
between any given text and that larger text we call language are always shifting,
(297). From this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In her attempt to uncover the grain running against the grain in Chopin s novel,
Patricia Yaeger dismantles conventional approaches to The Awakeningthat regard the
work as an emancipatory text by virtue of its rebellious, adulterous heroine alone.
Using Tony Tanner s analysis of Edna s infidelity as belonging to the tradition of
transgressive narratives, highlighted in his work, Adultery in the Novel, Yaeger
conversely emphasizes how Chopin s development of the romance plot between Edna
and Robert supports rather than subverts patriarchy. Although Edna credits Robert
with [awakening] me last summer out of a life long, stupid dream, her love for him
interrupts rather than inspires her awakening, for Edna has simply jumped from the
shelter of Leonce s money and the social stability he affords to the school girl fantasy
of romantic love Robert represents. In each relationship, whether financially or
emotionally, Edna remains dependent upon a man, but more significantly, men exist
as the mirror through which Edna perceives herself. Without Robert, Edna forfeits the
life she began to construct for herself, as well as the burgeoning female subjectivity
awakened the summer before.
Though Yaeger unveils the social acquiescence underlying the romance plot as
distorting what most scholars identify as Edna s social defiance, she unearths
emancipatory strategies within Chopin s text that prove far more
Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) in the UK
INTRODUCTION
Over the last decade, product marketing and ways through which communication
takes place between manufacturers and consumers has changed tremendously (Belch
Belch 2004). Due to the technological revolutions and the rise of innovations such as
the mobile phones and the internet, control over information has shifted apparently
from the manufacturer s hands to the hands of consumers (Belch Belch 2004). The
market environment has also changed due to globalization of marketing strategies,
loss of confidence in media advertising, increased reliance on targeted communication
methods, and media fragmentation and so on (Belch Belch 2004). Given the

As a result of the IMC concept, marketers are increasingly employing several devices
which were once the domain of dedicated and specialist companies (Dewhirst Davis
2005). This concept has been embraced in practice by many companies not only due
to the acquisitions and mergers which have resulted in consolidation of the
advertising industry but also due to the synergies that have emerged from the
integration of the various communication activities within the IMC framework
(Dewhirst Davis 2005).
LITERATURE REVIEW
The IMC concept has also received greater attention in the academic sphere.
Several academic journals have devoted space to explore on the deeper
implications of IMC in advertising and planning (Low George 2000). These
include: journal of marketing communications, journal of Advertising research and
journal of Business research among others. Scholarly work on IMC, however,
seems to be evolving from the limited view of effective co ordination to a strategic
process (Low George 2000). The depth and breadth of research in the field of IMC
has also evolved since its initial inception in the late 1980s.
A review of the various publications and scholarly work on IMC shows recurring
themes, in particular, themes related to the definitional issues of the IMC concept
and its theoretical development (Low George 2000). Several scholars have
undertaken and sufficiently discussed on the IMC concept by providing more in

Ancient India s Caste System
Over three thousand years ago ancient India had made up the Caste system. The
Caste system was created so that all people could make spiritual and economic

While Western medicine has a strong scientific basis, Traditional Chinese Medicine
developed gradually through China s long history, and is very strongly influenced
by Taoist beliefs. For example, in TCM there are twelve major organs, six yin and
six yang . Each of these organs are then associated with one of the Five Elements,
water, wood, fire, earth, and metal. For a Chinese medicinal practitioner, a disease
would be caused by an imbalance of these twelve organs, and would say something
like, too much Fire in the Lungs as a problem of imbalance. Straightforward
interactions between doctor and patient would thus be more common in TCM in
order to identify where the imbalance arose through life choices and the environment.
The doctor is not limited to treating only physical illnesses, but also illnesses of the
mind. The symptoms and differentiating the issue would arise during this step of
communication with the patient, which is bolstered by examining the patient s qi. A
fundamental of TCM is qi , which includes Yin and Yang
, as qi is believed to be
spiritual energy and is a part of all movement, such like the flow of the cosmos
(Kaptchuk). Qi itself can be divided into many different categories, with Meridian qi
being the most important for medicine. TCM views the body as a collective whole
where qi flows through body, with an imbalance of qi leading to the disease in
question. The more fixed or chronic the condition, the more
Death Of Death And Death
Throughout my entire life I have never really given much thought to the subject of
death. To be more accurate: throughout my entire life I have never allowed myself
to give much thought to the subject of death. Both of my parents are very easy
going, optimistic individuals so death was not a subject that was ever really touched
on. The only times that I really remember discussing it was in church (and I rarely
ever paid attention to this). Despite this lack of contemplation, I have always known
that I am very anxious about death, so when I filled out the attitudes towards death
and Leming s fearof death survey s I was not in the least surprised to find that my
answers coincided with high death anxiety. Death anxiety is defined in the textbook
as emotional distress and insecurity when faced with reminders of mortality
(Kastenbaum, 2012). This is an extremely accurate description of the way I react to
death. As stated in the attitudes towards death survey, I don t like to talk about my
own death, nor do I like it when my loved ones try to talk to me about their death.
When the subject of dying arises I am automatically overwhelmed with feelings of
panic and try to change the conversation. It has been shown that women in general
have a higher death anxiety (Kastenbaum, 2012) and I am also a very anxious person
in general so these probably contribute to it, however, from taking this course I have
learned that the biggest contributor is my thoughts about the meaning of death.
William Wordsworth s The World Is Too Much With Us
There s Something About Nature
In the same way Ted had lost touch with Mary, humans have lost their connection
with nature. William Wordsworth, in his poem, The World is Too Much With Us;
Late and Soon, illustrates the careless attitude of humans towards nature and all it has
to offer. In this Italian sonnet, the narrator, who is Wordsworth himself, is standing
on a grassy area overlooking the sea while wishing he could see the glory of nature
which humanity has chosen to disregard. He also expresses the frustration that he has
towards all of humanity for choosing to neglect the raw beauty and joy that nature has
to offer by destroying its beauty with material objects. The language that Wordsworth
uses in this Italian sonnet engenders a feeling of depression that makes the audience
feel ashamed and almost embarrassed to be associated with the nature of humans not
to acknowledge the beauty that they are surrounded by. Wordsworth is frustrated with
the way humans act and ignore the beauty of the natural world around them by
acquiring materialistic things, thus showing not only his irritation and
disappointment in society, but also his irritated tone he has throughout the sonnet.
Through his use of personification and imagery, Wordsworth is able to communicate
that humans, in general, have become detached from nature and it s beauty because
of their infatuation of materialistic objects.
The first section of this sonnet begins with a powerful statement of opinion from

Video game is not just about playing turn by turn; it is about the decisions gamers

Lifestyles And Description Of Seahorses, Hippocampus
Seahorses, Hippocampus sp.
Introduction: The name of seahorses is given to about 40 species of marine fish that
occur worldwide. This group belongs to the family: Syngnathidae and the genus
Hippocampus. The genus name comes from the Ancient Greek whereas Hippo means
horse and Kampos means sea monster. The name in other Greek translation means
bent horse. The size of this unique fish may reach up to 35 cm with an estimated
lifespan of about 5 years.
Distribution range: Seahorses are mainly found in tropical and temperate waters
throughout the world. Several seahorse species are found in Pacific waters from
North America to South America as well as in the Atlantic. Seahorses also occur in
Bahamas, some European waters and in the Mediterranean Sea. A given body of
water may host seahorse species different from those in another water body.
Habitat: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The animals are characterized by long snouts which they use to suck up food. The
eyes of seahorses can move independently of each other.
Feeding habits: They have small mouths located at the end of its tube like snouts.
Seahorses have no teeth and no stomach. They use their elongated snouts to suck in
their food that drifts by. While the small shrimp like crustacean, mysid is their most
favorite food, Seahorses feed also on plankton, small crustaceans, and fish larvae
which may float or crawl on the bottom within striking range. Their excellent
camouflage helps catching their prey. Because of the make up of their digestive
system, eaten food passes through their digestive systems quickly, and hence they
must eat almost constantly to stay alive.
Reproduction: In general, Seahorses are monogamy animals in which with some
exceptions and depending on species, mating partners remain as such for life time or
at least during the breeding season. Among the unique reproductive features, the male
seahorse bears the unborn young till
Essay on Non-Profit Organization Analysis
There used to be a time when zoos used to be full of animals. A time when
extinction was not a problem. That was the past. Today, zoos all around the world
are missing many animals such as the African elephant or the dodo bird. All of these
wonderful animals became extinct because we were careless enough to let them all
die. World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is an organization that is trying to prevent
extinction from happening. WWF is an environmental organization dedicated to
protecting the world s wildlife and wetlands ( World Wildlife Fund ). It is one of the
largest private supported conservation organizations in the world, with support from
one million members in just the United States. WWF was formed on September 11,

WWF has also started many other interesting programs. One of these programs is
Earth Hour which is a global event that is held on the last Saturday of March
annually, asking households and businesses to turn off their non essential lights and
other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take
action on climate change ( World Wildlife Fund ). WWF began in a small town in
Switzerland by normal people and become one of the most involved and dedicated
charitable organization the world has ever seen.
If we want to pass a living planet on to our children, then we need to realize that our
actions matter. WWF is a wonderful organization that is dedicated to preserving the
environment and our planet. WWF is different from other environmental protection
organizations. What makes WWF so unique is that it is a non profit organization
meaning that all of the money earned goes toward accomplishing their mission.
WWF does not even spend a penny on advertisement. They rely on their volunteers to
advertise the organization to their friends and families. WWF has been around for a
long time. People have known and trusted this organization since 1961. This means
that WWF is an old and reliable organization which uses our money wisely. Lastly,
this organization offers grants and scholarships to financially challenged high school
students who want to attend college and fulfill their dreams. The people who belong

Rights And Civil Rights
Civil rights are the rights granted from our government to the citizens to make sure
that government treats citizens equally, applies all laws fairly and does not
discriminate against any group based on race, religion, gender and disability. Civil
liberties are individual freedoms that restrict the power of the government in our
lives, they are guaranteed in the Constitution and are described in detail in the Bill of
Rights. A great example of a civil liberty is free speech and the right of expression.
While free speech helps citizens to keep the government in check by being able to
debate and engage in conflicting narratives, it provides a voice to express new
ideas and avoids censorship which would otherwise skew information for the
benefit of majority. While free speech and symbolic free speech is protected, even
in the case of flag burning, the courts have ruled that if free speech causes an
immediate lawless action of violence, it become an infringement of other people s
rights. Sometimes it is difficult to balance conflicting rights between individual or
between individual and the entire country. Who is to prevail? Who has more rights?
In the case of individuals, an example of conflicting rights is a candidate for election
who has the right of privacybut, at the same time, people need to know about his
private affairs to have enough information to make a good determination on casting
their vote. A conflict of rights with society may be the Patriot Act which purpose is

between W.L. Gore and Sodexo is the evaluation process on the mentoring program.
Currently W. L. Gore doesn t have a formal evaluation method. On the other side,
Sodexo conduct the e survey for the evaluation process to find out whether the mentee

Cost
Cost is the investment in the training program, the money and different inputs that
generate output. Effectiveness can be measured by comparing new and past
performance. The decision makers need to make judgement according the comparison
of the cost and effectiveness. Cost and benefit is about estimating the input and
output value in the financial term and measuring the use of resources (Murray, 2001).

Similarities Between Animal Farm And Russian Revolution
The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and pig to man again; but already it
was impossible to say which was which. George Orwell The pigs had become so
much like the people who originally their enemy s. In the Russian Revolution they
made the mistake. The book Animal Farm written by George Orwellis an allegory to
the revolution. In the book the Animal Farm represents the Russian Revolution,
Czar Nicholas II is the character Farmer Jones, and Karl Marx is Old Major to
show the similarities they each have. The Russian Revolution was compared to
Animal Farm because animals on the farm and the people in Russia were both
hungry. In the revolution people were suffering from military losses and food
shortages (Brown). The animals on the farm were starved because the farmer was
a drunk and always forgot to feed them. Another way the two are in common is
their acts of violence. The Czar would kill anyone who disagreed with him. When
animals disobeyed they were whipped by the farmer were killed by the new leader

Waterboarding History
The history of waterboarding goes back a lot further than most people even realize.
The technique commonly referred to as waterboarding was first documented in the
14th century, but has been used on and off around the world since before the Spanish
Inquisition1. The term waterboarding is actually a reference to two different
techniques, with one of them being the more commonly used today. The first
technique involves the pumping of water directly into a person s stomach. The other
technique is the one most people think of when they hear the word waterboarding.
This technique involves the placement of a cloth material over the mouth and a
steady stream of water poured into the throat. Those steps lead to the person being
interrogated experiencing a feeling as if they are drowning. This often leads to the
unconsciousness of the interrogated. The person is awoken and the cycle is
continued until... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Waterboarding is known and used, because of the effectiveness at which it causes the
person severe mental suffering in an effort to gain intelligence. The fact that it meets
the definition of the term torture, means that it would be illegal under the same
reasoning as torture is illegal under the standards of International and U.S. law.
Furthermore, one of the biggest arguments in favor of waterboarding after the events
of 9/11, was the fact that the U.S. was at war with terrorists. So therefore it was ok to
waterboard terrorists to find out information. However, Article 2 of the UN
convention against torture states, there are no circumstances whatsoever, whether a
state of war or a threat of war, that can be used as a justification for torture. This
means that no matter what the circumstances surrounding the reason behind someone
being tortured, the act is still illegal by international law and therefore illegal by U.S.

Macedonian Shipping and give a recommendation whether the company should use
the motor vessel Tashtego as a freight tender beween Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar in
East Africa or as a tapioca ship between Balik Papan and Singapore in the East Indies.
Fundamental to all these considerations are measurement issues. Financial measures,
in particular, cost measures, are needed to evaluate alternate strategies on whether to
introduce a new product or service line, to determine the appropriate sale price and
the consequent market position for the firm s product.

Hitler s Reign Over Deutschland
Throughout Hitler s reign over Deutschland, Germany was fundamentally
monopolized by propaganda. This method of reaching out to large groups of
people has been used throughout all of history, despite many people s beliefs that
the idea of propaganda use is new and modern. From as early as the 1400 s, the
Athenians began creating an empire using methods of propaganda through
playwrights, religious festivals, and handwritten books, which all gave
opportunity to shape man s beliefs and ideals. The first influential and arguably
most successful use of propaganda in history was that used under the control of
Hitler, which caused the majority of a powerful nation to discriminate against an
entire group of people. Hitler and Nazi officials believed it was possible to
manipulate public opinion by using propaganda techniques including euphemisms,
name calling, fear, and bandwagon which set the tone as you are either for us or
against us . Hitler and the Nazi regime rose to power using tactical strategies to
take advantage of Germany s disorientation and vulnerability following World War
I, Coupled with this rejection of democracy which had failed Germany was a
growing belief that strong leadership was needed to transcend class and sectional
interests and provide a new start (Welch). This historical investigation will focus on
Hitler s reign as well as the Nazi regime and war propaganda during the Third Reich,
and will discuss the extent to which propaganda aided the success
Changing American Family Essay
The Changing American Family
The American family in the last 50 years has changed so much from the Leave It to
Beaver days. Now the U.S. Census has had to change their forms just to include the
many different types of families. Between 1950 and modern times America has gone
through the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam Conflict, the Gulf War, the Iraq War, and
finally the Afghanistan War. America is a battle hardened and tested country. All this
being said, most of those wars were long, drawn out conflicts that happened half way
around the world. This causes tears in the American family. Once people return from
all the bloodshed, all they want to do is be with their families and spend time to
make up for what they missed.
Studies have been completed around the new typical family and the findings are
surprising to some. Natalie Angier wrote an article in The New York Times called

More gay and lesbian people are having kids than before. According to Sunday

Carmen Composed by Georges Bizet Essay
Carmen Composed by Georges Bizet
Georges Bizet (1838 1875) composed the opera Carmen, it opened on March 3,
1875 at the Opera Comique in Paris. It was not a success, initially. Then again,
Carmen would soon become the most popular opera of all time. The entire work
however, was disapproved of for its harsh libretto, and the music was criticized. The
reception of Carmen left Bizet acutely depressed and on June 3, 1875 he suffered
from two heart attacks and died.
Carmen opens with a Prelude in ternary form (ABACA) in which it opens the stage
action with a faint motif. Act I starts off in a square in Seville which contains a
cigarette factory and a guard station. The square is filled of people and the soldiers

The vitality of Carmen herself is remarkable, the music involves the use of the
harmonic, rhythmic instrumental measures of Spanish dance music. Also the death
theme of the chromatic scales and augmented 2nds enhance to Carmen s later fate.
She sings the Habanera, which is a mixture of sensual music, an oral warning to all.
Beware of me if I give you my heart and she sings about the fickleness of love. Don
Jose is very uninterested in Carmen s song. Carmen becomes quite fascinated and
throws a flower at Jose. Carmen then leaves to go into the cigarette factory. Jose
decides to pick up the flower and Micaela returns with money and a letter from his
mother. The letter urges that Jose marry Micaela. In this scene between Don Jose
and Micaela there is an interruption in the mood and music. Here a chromatic
downward scale in the music starts and where Jose starts singing of an evil spirit
which is we assume represents Carmen. Micaela leaves Jose and there is a sudden
accident at the cigarette factory. Zuniga sends Jose to oversee what had happened.
Jose comes out with Carmen, she apparently she had attacked and ended up stabbing
another girl. Zuniga questions her but Carmen mocks him with ridiculous humming.
Carmen is revealed to be violent and mocking. Zuniga orders Jose to tie Carmen s
hands for she is to be arrested. Carmen now knows that Jose is in love with her and
she persuades him to untie her. As

Anselm Kiefer Was A German Artist Who Was Born
Directly...
Anselm Kiefer was a German artist who was born directly after World War II. The
art that Kiefer created focused on a reconciliation with the shame and horror
surrounding the holocaust, aimed aimed to redefine what it meant to be German in a
post Nazi World (Smith). The piece I studied is located at the MoMa in San
Francisco and is entitled Shulamite . Shulamite is a historical paintingof a Nazi
Memorial Site, which Kiefer created it in 1983. In this painting, Kiefer transformed
the architecture of a site which was meant to honor Nazi heroes into a memorial for
their victims. Kiefer uses some very interesting aesthetic techniques to reflect the
intense emotions of that time and to reflect the rage, grief, and shame that Germans
felt in response to the Holocaust. His intention was to reconcile with the country s
dark past through memorializing the persecuted while painting the country as no
longer representative of it s dark past.
The piece displays a cavernous interior with a series of dark arches that recede
towards some flickering flames. These huge bricks and arches make the hall resemble
a sort of dungeon or a sort of oven. The palette he used is limited to solely to shades
of black, and brown. White paint is used to outline the crevices and edges of the
bricks. The windows are dark black, and the ceiling is pitched black. The dimly lit
piece seems to be an interior space solely lit by the series of small flames, and these
flames are placed at a

The film Run Lola Run By Tom Tykwer skillfully demonstrates how texts use the

through the opening scene where the audience is introduced to the protagonist Lola.
Her journey is characterized as a manifestation of the microcosm in her race against

Cause And Effect Of Smoking
When most people think about the negative effects caused by smoking, they usually
associate it with breathing problems and lung cancer. It has been proven that
smoking is also a major cause of heart disease for men and women. The Surgeon
General s Warning states Smoking causes lung cancer, heart disease, emphysema,
and may complicate pregnancy. It has also been labeled as the leading preventable
cause of disease and death in the United States. With around 20 percent of deaths
related to heartdisease being caused from smoking, it is important to look at how
smoking causes heart disease, what types of heart disease arise from smoking and
the possibility of reversing the damage after smoking cessation. The term heart
disease is often also referred to as cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular disease is
the narrowing or blockage of blood vessels that can lead to a heart attack, chest pain
or stroke. There is a drug in cigarettes known as nicotine which causes increased
blood pressure and heart rate. This is turn, results in your heart requiring more
oxygen to keep pumping. Some of the most common types of heart disease associated
with smoking are coronary arterydisease, peripheral artery disease, and strokes are
also a major risk factor. It is possible to prevent or treat these forms of heart disease
with the decision to practice a healthy lifestyle. Coronary artery diseaseis one of the
most common heart diseases associated with smoking. With coronary artery disease,

Lautrec once said, I paint things as they are. I don t comment ( Henri de Toulouse
Lautrec quotes, n.d.). A painting can represent various objects and emotions within a
square canvas, which each artist creates an artwork with different techniques. These
make each painting has it own meaning. There are several differences between
Lautrec s painting and Degas painting, which are the artists themselves, the subject
matter, the emotions depicted, and the technique of painting.
The first difference between the paintings is the artists themselves. An artist is a
person who produces an artwork. Henri de Toulouse Lautrec is a french man. He was
born into an aristocratic family, which seems to be beneficial to him. However, he
was born with a genetic condition. Between the ages of thirteen and fourteen, his
legs were fractured, and both of them ceased to grow because he had a skeletal
disorder that causes his bones to recover improperly (Johnson Whitten, 2003). Due
to his abnormality, he was not able to do the same activities as others, so he mainly

Composition means the position that each element placed in a painting. Lautrec
managed the position of the feature in Seated Dancer in Pink Tights by focusing on
the center and painting this ballerina in a major scale of the artwork (Martin, 2003).
On the other hand, Degas painted two objects in Waiting, and the artist divided the
space into two section for each of them (Martin, 2003). There are numerous
techniques to place features into different positions. Seated Dancer in Pink Tight,
Lautrec s painting, focuses on the single object at the center of the painting, which is
a ballerina. On the other side, Degas s painting illustrates several features, which is a
ballerina and a woman dressing in black, in order to support the contrary detail of
each feature. In summary, composition is the fourth

The M M Campaign Essay
Brand campaigns is generally regarded as application of specific activities created
to promote a product. Companies typically employ it when they want to increase
their sales. Use of one or an integrated media techniques may come into effects, for
instance, use of television, print and social media. The point is to capture the target
audience s attention as well as generate response from them. This is exactly what M
M managed to do with its Better with M campaign where they used unique
advertising and marketingapproaches that had emotional and psychological effect on
the target market. The M M campaign use of personification and personalization was
a brilliant move that cemented the company as leaders in candy and chocolate
manufacturing. Several slogans and ads run through people s TV screen during the
whole campaign period, and the fascinating aspect is that the were really engaging
and funny. The campaign featured super bowl commercial, digital ads, in store
displays, and perhaps the most critical cause related marketing.
This is analysis of the Better with M campaign. This paper explores how M M
devised and implemented successful advertising campaign through message strategy,
persuasive focus, persuasive appeal and correct execution. This will be done by
reviewing literature on marketing and advertising concepts. I will also look at the
cost used to implement this strategy and whether it was channelled in the right way.
Finally, the paper will examine the outcome of
Speech On A Parol Circuit
Making a parol is really hard especially with lights in it. It was hard and fun at the
same time. In order for us to start doing it we designed and make our circuit plan. In
doing our parol circuit we trodden with different electronics material like resistor,
capacitor, transformer and a lot more. This is not new to me and to others but at
the same time my knowledge into it widens. Our parol is one of the biggest and
widest it was really hard and we thought that we could not finish it on the allotted
time given. But with unity and team work we are able to finish it. All of us have a
different role or task to make. I still remember the time that after school we would
immediately go to Jake house and finish it. It was exhausting but it is all worth it in
the end seeing it light for the first time takes away all of the sweat and tiredness away.

In its simplest form, a capacitor consists of two conducting plates separated by an
insulating material called the dielectric. The capacitance is measured in units of
Farad (F). The capacitor disconnects current in direct current (DC) circuits and short
circuit in alternating current (AC) circuits. Large capacitors are used in the power
supplies of electronic equipment of all types, including computers and their
peripherals.
Resistor
Resistors are electronic components which have a specific, never changing electrical
resistance. The resistor s resistance limits the flow of electrons through a circuit.
They are passive components, meaning they only consume power (and can t generate

like op amps, microcontrollers, and other integrated circuits. Commonly resistors are
used to limit current, divide voltages, and pull up I/O lines. The electrical resistance
of a resistor is measured in ohms.

Juvenile Waiver Methods
Methods For my topic on juvenile waiver, I think the best way to conduct my
study is by using survey research. The reason I would use the survey method is
because I would be able to view different perceptions related to juvenile waiver.
Although I am only surveying one university I can use that info to get a view on
how juvenile waiver is perceived. My hypothesis for this research is that many
students will not be lenient toward juvenile waiver if they have a close relationship
with their siblings and or have known someone personally who has been
criminalized. Since Juvenile systems were built to rehabilitate I believe that people
will see a rehabilitation in juveniles compared to long time criminals.
Sample Selection For my sample, I will be doing a convenience sample. My survey
will be open to any age but will mainly focus on young college students. I will reach
out to my class at a local university. There are approximately 30 students in the
Criminal Justice Basic Statistics and Research course. I plan to have all the 30
students participate in this survey. Once I implement my ... Show more content on

Another limit on my study was that I only surveyed two different majors; criminal
justice and social work. I also had a limited sample. The best type of sampling to
use would have been probability sampling in which I could have increased the
likelihood of obtaining samples that are representative of the population. My last,
but most important, limitation would be that I did not survey children or their
teenage counterparts. I think it is very important to get their input on what they
perceive because they would potentially be the ones being transferred. Also, being a
social work major I believe kids do have a voice and it may be very intimidating for a
child to speak up in court when everyone that decides for the child are
Economic Inequality In Latin America
In today s world many people are faced with the trade off in the good and bad
inequalities. I gathered that there will always be some sort of trade off being there
is no perfect economy. Economics is a science that is theory based, that can claim to
have uncovered few, if any, universal truths. The belief in gaining economic equality
requires sacrificing economic efficiency and vice versa. Most economic ideas
surround the belief that firms and individuals need the higher incomes or wages to
invest, work hard, save and to innovate. And, those that do not have that, results in
reduced effort and lower economic growth. For example some theorist believe that
by raising taxes on profitable firms or wealthy individuals to reduce the economic gap

Also the pay difference between the skilled and unskilled workers. The skill
premium has fallen and the skilled and unskilled workers are making around the
same amount. This pay differential could mean two things: 1. Because of the
increase in the relative supply of skilled workers Latin America can be hopeful of
faster economic growth or 2. With the decline of skilled workers modern, skill
intensive industries are not expanding sufficiently. Because of globalization,
financialization, weaker trade unions, automation and other technological changes,
erosion of minimum wages and changing the norm on acceptable pay gaps within
enterprises, the United States has rising inequality that is still being debated over.
Each drive has a different effect on growth. In closing there will always be some sort
of trade off with an economy. We cannot always assume that greater equality and
better economic performance always goes together. At times there could be good
inequality which could result in substantial economic growth. In theory. Looking at it
analytically, sometimes the best thing to do when there is error is just leave it alone,
because sometimes when you try to fix standard error, you end up making the entire
economy

Kate Upton s Anorexia As An American Model
Ever since I was in fourth grade, I have hated myself. I felt unattractive because of
my weight . Kenna
Kenna is now a 17 year old and has been diagnosed with anorexia nervosa.Anorexia
nervosa is a serious, potentially life threatening eating disorder characterized by
self starvation and excessive weight loss.According to a university research,
statistics show that 95% of those who have eating disorders are between the ages
of 12 and 25. Anorexia has had a huge impact in our society, especially to our
younger generations due to what the media has presented to us as the perfect body
.Kids at a very young age are already exposed to what is right and what is not.The
so called perfect look is only a social construct since this look is not achievable
naturally or no where close to natural. Our society has put down this eating disorder
as if it wasn t our own fault,or a mental disorder according to the DSM V.We are not
proud to present these people to our society or even call this a healthy look. Kate

  • 2. A Good Man Is Hard To Find, By O Connor The theme of nature, environment, and landscape has always been integral in the development of plot for different genres of literature. Apparently, nature plays a significant role in the well being of people. Humanity is dependent on the natural environment for its survival. Recently, there have been numerous threats towards the environmentwhich when left unchecked lead to its destruction (MacFarlane 2). With the inception of the relentless efforts to create environmental awareness, different approaches and avenues have been utilized to ensure the intended message is gotten by a large section of the public. From these statements, it is apparent that Florida is associated with high rates of crime, thus creating fear in those individuals wishing to travel to these regions. This is a common thought as many people tend to blame themselves for something that they no hand in creating, without reason. This is not the case in both William Shakespeare s Hamlet and Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. In both of these pieces of literature the protagonists rightfully blame themselves for what happens to some of their familymembers as they either created what caused harm to their families or they did the harming themselves, albeit unintentionally. Hamlet is charged with the family duty of avenging his father, while Dr. Frankensteinshould fulfil his obligation to foster his creation. Neither are able to fully execute their duties and their irresponsible nature causes their own downfall and the ultimate collapse of their family. The collapse of the protagonists and their families is brought on by mental anguish, a lack of comfort/love, and tragic death. Diabetic macular edema (DME) is the main cause of decreased vision in diabetic retinopathy [1]. It was shown that the 10 year cumulative incidence of diabetic macular edema was 20.1% in type 1 diabetes and 25.4% in patients with type 2 diabetes treated with insulin [2]. The management of DME includes strict glycemic and blood pressure control [3 5]. Argon laser treatment for clinically significant macular edema (CSME) has been the mainstay treatment according to the Early Treatment Diabetic RetinopathyStudy (ETDRS) study that demonstrated a 50% reduction in moderate visual loss following focal laser photocoagulation [6,7]. The conventional Argon laser treatment is associated with heat to the surrounding tissues such as the neurosensory retina and the choroid leading to collateral thermal damage. The greyish endpoint of a laser burn means that the temperature is high enough to change the transparency of the retina [8]. Possible side effects of conventional macular laser photocoagulation include visual loss due to accidental foveal photocoagulation, pre and sub retinal fibrosis, choroidal neovascularization, visual field scotomas, decreased color vision and progressive expansion of the laser scars into the fovea [9 12]. Conventional laser photocoagulation produces a continuous wave laser output. On the other hand subthreshold micropulse laser treatment

A Deconstructionist Critique of Chopin’s The Awakening Essay A Deconstructionist Critique of Chopin s The Awakening The multiplicity of meanings and (re)interpretations informing critical studies of The Awakening reveal a novel ripe for deconstructionist critique. Just as Chopin evokes an image of the sea as symbolic of Edna s shifting consciousness ( never ceasing, whispering, clamoring, murmuring, inviting the soul to wander in abysses of solitude, 138), likewise the deconstructionist reading of a text emphasizes fluidity over structure: A text consists of words inscribed in and inextricable from the myriad discourses that inform it; from the point of view of deconstruction, the boundaries between any given text and that larger text we call language are always shifting, (297). From this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In her attempt to uncover the grain running against the grain in Chopin s novel, Patricia Yaeger dismantles conventional approaches to The Awakeningthat regard the work as an emancipatory text by virtue of its rebellious, adulterous heroine alone. Using Tony Tanner s analysis of Edna s infidelity as belonging to the tradition of transgressive narratives, highlighted in his work, Adultery in the Novel, Yaeger conversely emphasizes how Chopin s development of the romance plot between Edna and Robert supports rather than subverts patriarchy. Although Edna credits Robert with [awakening] me last summer out of a life long, stupid dream, her love for him interrupts rather than inspires her awakening, for Edna has simply jumped from the shelter of Leonce s money and the social stability he affords to the school girl fantasy of romantic love Robert represents. In each relationship, whether financially or emotionally, Edna remains dependent upon a man, but more significantly, men exist as the mirror through which Edna perceives herself. Without Robert, Edna forfeits the life she began to construct for herself, as well as the burgeoning female subjectivity awakened the summer before. Though Yaeger unveils the social acquiescence underlying the romance plot as distorting what most scholars identify as Edna s social defiance, she unearths emancipatory strategies within Chopin s text that prove far more

For a Chinese medicinal practitioner, a disease would be caused by an imbalance of these twelve organs, and would say something like, too much Fire in the Lungs as a problem of imbalance. To be more accurate: throughout my entire life I have never allowed myself to give much thought to the subject of death. Both of my parents are very easy going, optimistic individuals so death was not a subject that was ever really touched on. The only times that I really remember discussing it was in church (and I rarely ever paid attention to this). Despite this lack of contemplation, I have always known that I am very anxious about death, so when I filled out the attitudes towards death and Leming s fearof death survey s I was not in the least surprised to find that my answers coincided with high death anxiety. Death anxiety is defined in the textbook as emotional distress and insecurity when faced with reminders of mortality (Kastenbaum, 2012). This is an extremely accurate description of the way I react to death. As stated in the attitudes towards death survey, I don t like to talk about my own death, nor do I like it when my loved ones try to talk to me about their death. When the subject of dying arises I am automatically overwhelmed with feelings of panic and try to change the conversation. It has been shown that women in general have a higher death anxiety (Kastenbaum, 2012) and I am also a very anxious person in general so these probably contribute to it, however, from taking this course I have learned that the biggest contributor is my thoughts about the meaning of death.

William Wordsworth, in his poem, The World is Too Much With Us; Late and Soon, illustrates the careless attitude of humans towards nature and all it has to offer. In this Italian sonnet, the narrator, who is Wordsworth himself, is standing on a grassy area overlooking the sea while wishing he could see the glory of nature which humanity has chosen to disregard. He also expresses the frustration that he has towards all of humanity for choosing to neglect the raw beauty and joy that nature has to offer by destroying its beauty with material objects. The language that Wordsworth uses in this Italian sonnet engenders a feeling of depression that makes the audience feel ashamed and almost embarrassed to be associated with the nature of humans not to acknowledge the beauty that they are surrounded by. Wordsworth is frustrated with the way humans act and ignore the beauty of the natural world around them by acquiring materialistic things, thus showing not only his irritation and disappointment in society, but also his irritated tone he has throughout the sonnet. Through his use of personification and imagery, Wordsworth is able to communicate that humans, in general, have become detached from nature and it s beauty because of their infatuation of materialistic objects. The first section of this sonnet begins with a powerful statement of opinion from

A great example of a civil liberty is free speech and the right of expression. While free speech helps citizens to keep the government in check by being able to debate and engage in conflicting narratives, it provides a voice to express new ideas and avoids censorship which would otherwise skew information for the benefit of majority. While free speech and symbolic free speech is protected, even in the case of flag burning, the courts have ruled that if free speech causes an immediate lawless action of violence, it become an infringement of other people s rights. Sometimes it is difficult to balance conflicting rights between individual or between individual and the entire country. Who is to prevail? Who has more rights? In the case of individuals, an example of conflicting rights is a candidate for election who has the right of privacybut, at the same time, people need to know about his private affairs to have enough information to make a good determination on casting their vote. A conflict of rights with society may be the Patriot Act which purpose is

The technique commonly referred to as waterboarding was first documented in the 14th century, but has been used on and off around the world since before the Spanish Inquisition1. The term waterboarding is actually a reference to two different techniques, with one of them being the more commonly used today. The first technique involves the pumping of water directly into a person s stomach. The other technique is the one most people think of when they hear the word waterboarding. This technique involves the placement of a cloth material over the mouth and a steady stream of water poured into the throat. Those steps lead to the person being interrogated experiencing a feeling as if they are drowning. This often leads to the unconsciousness of the interrogated. The fact that it meets the definition of the term torture, means that it would be illegal under the same reasoning as torture is illegal under the standards of International and U.S. law. Furthermore, one of the biggest arguments in favor of waterboarding after the events of 9/11, was the fact that the U.S. was at war with terrorists. So therefore it was ok to waterboard terrorists to find out information. However, Article 2 of the UN convention against torture states, there are no circumstances whatsoever, whether a state of war or a threat of war, that can be used as a justification for torture. This means that no matter what the circumstances surrounding the reason behind someone being tortured, the act is still illegal by international law and therefore illegal by U.S. standards as

This method of reaching out to large groups of people has been used throughout all of history, despite many people s beliefs that the idea of propaganda use is new and modern. From as early as the 1400 s, the Athenians began creating an empire using methods of propaganda through playwrights, religious festivals, and handwritten books, which all gave opportunity to shape man s beliefs and ideals. The first influential and arguably most successful use of propaganda in history was that used under the control of Hitler, which caused the majority of a powerful nation to discriminate against an entire group of people. Hitler and Nazi officials believed it was possible to manipulate public opinion by using propaganda techniques including euphemisms, name calling, fear, and bandwagon which set the tone as you are either for us or against us . Hitler and the Nazi regime rose to power using tactical strategies to take advantage of Germany s disorientation and vulnerability following World War I, Coupled with this rejection of democracy which had failed Germany was a growing belief that strong leadership was needed to transcend class and sectional interests and provide a new start (Welch). The art that Kiefer created focused on a reconciliation with the shame and horror surrounding the holocaust, aimed aimed to redefine what it meant to be German in a post Nazi World (Smith). The piece I studied is located at the MoMa in San Francisco and is entitled Shulamite . Shulamite is a historical paintingof a Nazi Memorial Site, which Kiefer created it in 1983. In this painting, Kiefer transformed the architecture of a site which was meant to honor Nazi heroes into a memorial for their victims. Kiefer uses some very interesting aesthetic techniques to reflect the intense emotions of that time and to reflect the rage, grief, and shame that Germans felt in response to the Holocaust. His intention was to reconcile with the country s dark past through memorializing the persecuted while painting the country as no longer representative of it s dark past. The piece displays a cavernous interior with a series of dark arches that recede towards some flickering flames. These huge bricks and arches make the hall resemble a sort of dungeon or a sort of oven. The palette he used is limited to solely to shades of black, and brown. White paint is used to outline the crevices and edges of the bricks. The windows are dark black, and the ceiling is pitched black.
