2. Computing Machinery And Intelligence By Alan Turing
In his paper Computing Machinery and Intelligence, Alan Turing sets out to answer
the question of whether machines can think in the same humans can by
conceptualizing the question in concrete terms. In simple terms, Turing redefines the
question by posing whether a machine can replicate the cognition of a human being.
Yet, some may object to the notion that Turing s new question effectively captures the
nature of machines capacity for thought or consciousness, such as John Searle. In his
Chinese room thought experiment, Searle outlines a scenario that implies machines
apparent replication of human cognition does not yield conscious understanding.
While Searle s Chinese thought experiment demonstrates how a Turing test is not
sufficient to establish that a machine can possess consciousness or thought, this
argument does not prove that machines are absolutely incapable of consciousness or
thought. Rather, given the ongoing uncertainty of the debate regarding the
intelligence of machines, there can be no means to confirm or disconfirm the
conscious experience of machines as well as the consciousness of humans by
extension of that principle. In attempting to answer the question of whether machines
are able to think, Turing redesigns the question around the notion of machines
effectiveness at mimicking human cognition. Turing proposes to gauge such
effectiveness by a variation of an imitation game, where a man and a woman are
concealed from an interrogator who makes

Hindu temples constructed between the 4th to 14th century by the kings of Champa.

Conclusion Overall, what Julian Assange did was Illegal in many ways and in
many countries, freedom of expression is important and a good act if it expresses
legal information and can be used for the benefit of the world. It all comes down to
determining and differentiating Julian s acts, he did express his views which
counts as freedom of expression, but his means do not justify the end, the way he
got a hold of the information is not legal or ethical because he stole, used someone
to steal it, or hacked it. If the information wasn t stolen then it would count as
freedom of expression and he wouldn t be a bad figure, because his motives were
to share information hidden from the world and show the cruel side of politics.
Julian Assange should have found a better legal and more ethical way to gather his
information because his motives didn t match his actions. Assange sees himself as a

8. Malaria Is A Threat Of Malaria
Malaria, just the very name rings with menace. It is a life threatening disease cause
by parasites transmitted from infected bites of female mosquitoes. Now if you live
in any area that is humid, hot, and prone to rain or near water and has mosquitos
you are at risk for contracting this parasite. Normally Africa, South America, Middle
East, rarely developed countries. About 3.2 billion people, almost half of the world s
population, are at risk of malaria. Granted we live in a time where in the United
States malaria is rare to hear about these days but in developing and undeveloped
countries, Malaria is a very real threat. Malaria has been plaguing societies for
years. Only recently has the Unites States and other countries been able to make it
a rare instance due to control of mosquitos. The symptoms of malaria was first
described in Chinese writings, the Nei Ching (2700 BC). It became widely known
in Greece, Hippocrates noted the principle symptoms. In the Susruta, a Sanskrit
medical treatise, the symptoms of malaria were described and attributed to certain
bites of insects. Some Roman writers thought the diseases were attributed to swampy
areas. In the New World, Indians told Spanish missionaries of the medical bark they
used to treat the fevers of those infected with malaria. With the bark it actually cured
the wife of the Viceroy of Peru. After this the bark from that tree was called Cinchona
after the countess. The antimalarial, quinine, derives from this bark and
9. America s Political Situation Of The World Essay
To Begin the World Over Again
In 1770 s political situation of the world was so suitable for United States in order to
establish its own government as a country and determine a well functioning foreign
policy to protect United States interest. Even though European countries such United
Kingdom, France, Spain want to American continent as an open land to exploit, Tom
Paine suggest an idea that United States should secure for independence and set up
republic. According to Paine, people in the United States are chosen to create new
world order and commerce to change the history.
The way to approach trade and relationship with colonized countries also gives an
advantage to the United States. Therefore, United States maximized its profit by
trading colonized countries directly. This shows United States does not constitute
common idea of trade, which was mercantilism at that time, yet United States selects
direct and relatively free trade with other countries. So, United States begin to change
trade pattern in the world.
After Westphalia, concepts that are related to states and international order increased
the importance of notion of state. States attached importance to their own domestic
policies and international interest. States pay more attention on diplomacy and
negotiation rather than war. War become highest risk for states to keep their
international interest. They invest their armies to use them as a psychologic weapon
to protect their interest.

The company itself is considered as a breakthrough innovation in the American fast
food market. Initially CMG was set to challenge fast food traditional trend and in the
end it launched a new industry, and became the top player among the fast food
chains (LINK1). Chipotle invented a way to sustain the speed, experience and
convenience of standard fast foodrestaurant but provide a far better quality of the
food. Unlike the common perception of fast foodindustry with reduced penny
pinching prices and expanded menus, CMG went opposite direction by providing
higher quality foods through the different value equation. Even though the meals are
more expensive in comparison with majority of fast food competitor s offerings,

11. Hunger Games Analysis
Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games is a dystopian novel about the adventures of
Katniss Everdeen, who is forced to battle against other children in a fight to the death
tournament. Throughout the novel, Katniss appears to be saved by luck in many
near death situations. She is fortunate when her backpack protects her from a knife
and when she chooses a tree with a tracker jacker nest. Many believe Katniss
survives because she has never ending luck in the arena. This assumption may be
true; however, the other tributes aid Katniss throughout the games. She becomes
dependent on other people to make decisions easier for her. Luck does not play a role
in Katniss survival because the other tributes actions save her in life threatening
situations.
The first incident where Katniss appears to be lucky is at the start of the games.
After the gong rings, Katniss heads towards the Cornucopia, even though
Haymitch tells her not to. She finds an orange backpack and runs to it. Another
tribute also grabs it and he becomes an issue for Katniss. They start to fight for the
backpack and Katniss almost loses the fight until she see[s] the knife in his back
(150). The boy is dead and is killed by the girl from District Two, Clove. Katniss
quickly realizes that she is now the next target to die. Eventually, she escapes and
runs into the forest where she is far away from the other tributes. Katniss seems
lucky that she gets out of the Cornucopia alive because the Cornucopia is where most
of the tributes die on the first day.
Katniss escapes the Cornucopia not from luck, but because of Clove. When Clove
throws the knife into the boy s back, it gives Katniss an opportunity to grab the
pack. Because she kills the boy, Clove unintentionally gives Katniss the pack that
contains survival items. Later on, Katniss uses the supplies to help her adapt in the
arena. Clove s actions also save Katniss from being killed on day one of the games
because the boy Clove killed could have killed Katniss. There is a good chance
Katniss would be dead if Clove did not kill the boy. It is not her bravery, skills, or
even luck that saves Katniss in the early moments of the games; it was Clove s
actions that leads to Katniss surviving the first day of
12. Preventing Underage Drinking
It s both dangerous and against the law, but young people between the ages of 12
and 20 are responsible for 11 percent of the alcohol consumed annually in the United
States. Underage drinking also accounts for more than 4,300 deaths of young people
in the U.S. each year. Here are some signs that may indicate a teenager has been
abusing alcohol. Major red flags include differences in sleep patterns, appetite, and
change of friends or physical appearance. When teens fall in with a social circle that
drinks heavily, they may display a change in attitude and hang out in places and with
people they did not associate with before. They may also lose interest in activities
they used to participate in. Underage drinking can lead to increased absences... Show

Parents in particular can have either a positive or negative influence. Parents can
help their children avoid alcohol problems by talking about the dangers of
drinking, drinking responsibly, if they choose to drink, serving as positive role
models in general, not making alcohol available, getting to know their children s
friends, having regular conversations about life in general, connecting with other
parents about sending clear messages about the importance of not drinking alcohol,
supervising all parties to make sure there is no alcohol, encouraging kids to
participate in healthy and fun activities that do not involve alcohol. Research shows
that children whose parents are actively involved in their lives are less likely to
drink alcohol. On the other hand, research shows that a child with a parent who
binge drinks is much more likely to binge drink than a child whose parents do not
binge
13. Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy
As the social worker becomes more mindful about the clients multiple and
overlapping problems, they will be provided with a greater awareness about the
best way to intervene across the micro, macro, and meso levels (Cournoyer, 2014).
The way in which people view the world around them is based on their previous
beliefs and experiences and can be either realistic and accurate or distorted (Walsh,
2013). Peoples distorted view of the world results in emotional and behavioural
problems related to their inability to adapt to their environment (Walsh, 2013).
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(CBT) is a form of psychotherapythat emerged in
social work practice during the 1960s (Walsh, 2013). Research has shown that CBT
is effective when working with clients who display symptoms of depression and
anger (Dowd, Clen and Arnold, 2010).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The goal of CBT is to assist the client to make a connection between their perception
of their environment and their thoughts which are influencing their behaviours
(Gladstone, 2017).
Another key concept that should be considered in CBT is the term schemas which
Walsh (2013) defines as the way we organize our thought process, store information,
process new information, and integrate the products of those operations
(knowledge) (p. 175). In the case study, Naana described her perception of herself
to the social worker by stating what is wrong with me. This belief is a dysfunctional
automatic thought that she assumes to be an accurate reflection of herself (Walsh,
2013). Furthermore, this core belief has resulted in her experiencing a continuance
of dark periods in her life that have brought about feelings of depression and
episodes of anger. The social worker needs to assess her motivation towards making
positive changes within her life and assist her in identifying dysfunctional patterns of
thinking (Walsh, 2013). Naana would need to learn how to identify her negative
thoughts such as feeling she
14. David Sedaris Chipped Beef
Sometimes in life, we dream about unimaginable lives we could have, this causes us
to disconnect from our reality. In Chipped Beef , David Sedaris contrasts his fantasy
with his reality to show how living in a fantasy world disconnects you from your
family. Throughout his memoir, Sedaris demonstrates how his fantasy disconnects
him from his reality, how he portrays his reality in a negative manner, and how he
loses his relationship with his family. In the beginning of this memoir Sedaris uses
his fantasy to show how disconnected he is from his reality and family by using
rhetorical devices and strategies like a mocking tone and analogy. First off, Sedaris
describes his unthinkable dreams when he states, I m thinking of asking the servants
to wax my change before placing it in the Chinese... Show more content on

It s important to have clean money. Sedaris starts off this piece by making an
extremely improbable statement about waxing his change. This statement is
ridiculous because no normal person makes their servants wax their change. In
addition, it shows how disconnected he is from reality by making these ridiculous
overstatements, which come across as humorous. These humorous statements
immediately get the audience engaged in this piece. Furthermore, Sedaris boasts
about his fantasy life by using an analogy when he proclaims, Because we are so
smart, my parents and I are able to see through people as if they were made of hard,
clear plastic. The analogy that Sedaris uses here is very affective by stating how he
thinks how smart and intelligent his fantasy family is by making them able to
control the rest of the people around them by being able to see through them like
clear plastic, which is impossible in reality. In the end of Sedaris s fantasy dreams, he
15. Characters In Dark Justice, By Jack Higgins
The setting of this novel, Dark Justice, by Jack Higgins, is set in the present time
in different locations. Such locations as Manhattan, London, Ireland, and Iraq. The
feeling, or the mood, that is expressed throughout the book is dark, fearful. Mainly
because of how dark the characters in this book can get and how fearful the
situations get. Speaking of characters, the first character that the reader sees is a
man named Henry Morgan. Morgan is a muslim who was raised in England, who
was then hired as an assassin to kill the president, Jake Cazalet. Morgan s plot fails,
to which he kills himself with a cyanide tooth before saying Beware the Wrath of
Allah (7), in front of Clancy Smith and Blake Johnson. Morgan is an antagonist
that starts off this story. The next character that is introduced to the story is Clancy
Smith. Smith is a tall, black man that is a security guard that works where Morgan
was planning to assassinate the president from. Smith has the knowledge of
knowing when things aren t right. So, he says to Morgan And by the way, I never

introduced to is president Jake Cazalet. Cazalet is the president of the U.S, and
resides in the White House in Washington, D.C. He wears reading glasses and is in
his thirties. The reader can imagine his appearance as the author didn t fully explain

16. Salem Witch Theory Of Ergotism
In 1692, people started doing strange behaviors such as convulsing uncontrollably, or
crying in fear from a terrifying hallucination such as something dark and scary in their
chimney. Due to the lack of medical knowledge at that time, the citizens
automatically assumed it was witchcraft and out of panic, the Salem Witch Trials
began. However, with advanced medical scientific experts around today, the theory
that actual witchcraftwas a thing has been dropped. What remains a mystery is What
was the real cause of the strange behaviors? . The only thing that is certain is that it
was not witchcraft. Even though the reasons behind the strange behaviors is
unknown, there are many theories. One of them is the ergotpoisoning theory. Ergot
poisoning (also known as ergotism) comes from a fungus called Claviceps purpurea.
This harmful fungus often sprouts up around grains such as rye; and a lot of bread
is made from rye or wheat. Since bread was eaten a lot in Salem Massachusetts, this
philosophy does have some valid points. The symptoms of ergot poisoning match
what the supposed victims of witchcraft had as well; creating another supporting
point to this theory. However, this philosophy also has some questionable
considerations as well such as the fact that animals used for meat could have given
the people alkoid poisoning from eating the fungus or the grains that it touched; or
the fact some scientists also say that the people of Salem Massachusetts were too
healthy to have a
17. Jesus And Jesus Signs In The Gospel Of Jesus
Although there are many signs throughout the Gospel of John (John 2:1 11), the
wedding at Cana was one of the first signs that Jesus performed within his lifetime.
The story beings explaining the scene, On the third day there was a wedding in
Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus and his disciples were also
invited to the wedding (John 2:1 2). Understanding those who were acquainted with
Jesuswere all present during the wedding allows for the reader to assume that this
could have been the first sign Jesus was able to show his loving disciples that he
truly was the divine power. Although the disciples of Jesus did believe that he was
truly the Messiah, they had not physically seen an actual miracle to be performed by
the divine being. Realizing that not only was this the first physical sign that Jesus
performed to the people of Galilee, but also to his immediate followers, is an
incredible fact that not many take into consideration.
At the beginning of the chapter 2 in the Gospel of John, the mother of Jesus was the
first to hold a converse with the divine being. The wine had ran short for the
wedding, enabling the mother of Jesus to gain a sense of empathy for the bride and
groom. This empathy enabled her to tell her son, They have no wine (John 2:3).
Jesus responded, Women, how does your concern affect me? My hour has not come
yet. (John 2:4). The response Jesus gave to his mother was quite unusual. The typical
response to a mother from her son
18. Dragons In J. R. Tolkien s The Hobbit
What does the word dragon mean to us? Generally, if one is asked this question, the
response would be unintelligent dangerous weapons of destruction . However, this
is not the case in J.R.R Tolkien s The Hobbit , nor is it true for the early mythology
of dragons. Instead, this modern definition is replaced with one of, greedy, intelligent
beings with human characteristics . Hence, a question arises as to why the image of
dragons has been drastically downgraded throughout literature? To answer this
question, I will first begin by isolating passages from Tolkien s The Hobbit in an
attempt to describe certain features of Smaug the magnificent. Afterwards, I will
partake in exemplifying the written style of dragons in the history of literature... Show

Traditional dragons were portrayed when the certain writers have been able to
preserve the wonder of the creatures. Whereas, modern dragons are illustrated when
select stories have implemented new components that have served as counter
productive as depicted by the Harry Potter series which relegates the true plot
potential of these beasts. Additionally, these modern dragons tend to be obstacles for
the main hero to overcome, which is a stark contrast from the traditional dragons.
Therefore, for what reason have writers decided to downgrade the beasts? Unerman
(2002) puts forth the belief that fictional evil is more convincing and more
frightening when people, not dragons, are the true enemy (pg. 100). In addition,
another argument could be made in that dragons such as Smaug will overshadow the
main human villain, therefore, by downgrading the beasts to simple plot obstacles, it
allows for the dragons not to overshadow the main villain, and I cannot accept either
argument. Suggesting that humanity allows for more engaging villains is absurd,
considering that the simple task of personifying a dragon in Smaug made for one of
the greatest, psychologically complicated, and utmost captivating villain in all of
literature. Nonetheless, one may argue that Tolkien s Smaug serves as the same
purpose as a dragon in the Harry Potter series; a plot obstacle that cause destruction.
Granted that this notion may appear plausible, it proves false in terms of
characteristics of the dragons individually. In other words, the dragon in Harry Potter
happens to be illustrated as regular animal that features no unique qualities, whereas
Smaug is categorized as a complex and unique character, in terms of his motives,
intelligence, and the threat he poses to those who dare challenge
19. The And The World Wide Web
In chapter 11, the author of our text says, in part: Learning what is true and what is
not true is harder today than it once was. The difficulty is not because of a lack of
information. We have more information and more points of view available to us
than ever in history. A few clicks on any topic and you get thousands of entries. In
fact, perhaps we get too much information. We get so much that we are often
overwhelmed.... A second problem today is that we should not necessarily believe
what we see or hear. He also says: Our political culture teaches us to learn to be
ignorant about politics. Our generation is one that has more exposure than any prior
generation to twenty four hour reports on multi media devices. Thanks to the
internet and the World Wide Web, we have at our disposal many viewpoints and a
wealth of information. This does not necessarily mean that our generation is more
informed or knowledgeable than prior ones. Not all information we are exposed to is
true or unbiased.
Learning what is true and what is not true is harder today than it once was . This
statement by the author of our text could refer to the fact that our technology today
is so advanced that photographs and videos can be altered in such a way that no
one is the wiser. Just because you are shown a photo or video does not mean it is a
realistic representation of what actually happened. You cannot always believe what
you see. One example of manipulation to a photo is an article in the LA Times

eyes of viewers. The practically unreal romance scenes, including the thought of love
at first sight, have attracted viewers of all ages. The romance contained within many
Disney scenes and movies is one characteristic that is appealing to fans of Disney. In
just about every Disney princess movie, there exists the idea of loveat first sight. For
example, in The Little Mermaid , Ariel is practically love struck when she sets eyes
on Prince Eric for the very first time. Without speaking a single word to him, Ariel is
somehow in love. This classic Disney filmhas won the hearts of fans of all ages.
Why? Well, as a viewer, there is something very attractive and

24. The Psychology Of Art Dating
Introduction Recent studies on psychology have allowed us to understand how
individuals perceive and experience art. Although the psychology of art dating
back before the 1600 s has been studied to an extent, psychologist have yet to truly
understand contemporary art. The intentions of this research paper is to shed light
on just some of the methodologies and connections contemporary artists may use
in their work, and importantly, just how viewers interpret these details on a
neurological and psychological scale. Several popular studies have been cited to
explore various topics such as an artist s style, name, the objects, colors and
typography they choose to implement within their works and why.Typography and
Color Chaos When examining paintings that depict colored typography, for
example False Start by accomplished artist, Jasper John, there is an evident
dissonance to the viewer. The type expresses the name of one color printed in the
paint of another color, and to top it off, that very word is printed on a patch with a
different color. Essentially, the entire painting is creating chaos with its meaning
because the viewer isn t sure whether they approach the painting by reading the text,
viewing the color of the text, or viewing the patch of color which the text is placed
on. False Start, 1959 by Jasper Johns At first, when a person does try to comprehend
the painting, they tend to hesitate and think twice about making errors. This is

In July of 2007, California Pizza Kitchen (CPK), a casual dining pizzeria started in
California by co owners Rick Rosenfield and Larry Flax, was faced with the decision
to invest in a stock repurchase program. Led by Chief Financial Officer Susan
Collyns, the financial team of CPK was reviewing the preliminary results for the
second quarter to determine if the stock repurchase program would provide a
significant financial leverage for the company. The goal was to determine if the

Not only would this benefit the company, but would also benefit the stakeholders

Financial Leverage on WACC
When analyzing which debt financing option CPK should choose, the weight
average cost of capital (WACC) will provide an approximation on how much CPK
must earn in order to satisfy the amount financed. The values of WACC for the
actual, 10%, 20%, and 30% options can be found in Appendix A. It appears that
the higher the financial leverage, the lower the WACC will be. Take for instance
if CPK chooses a 30% debt to capital situation, the ROE will be 11.1 % with a 9.2%
WACC. In contrast, at the actual value, the ROE is 9% with the WACC being
9.5% and could pose badly for CPK. As long as CPK is comfortable with the high
risk of a 30% debt to capital ratio, then it would be the most beneficial in terms of
adding economic value to the company, and for the shareholders, while providing a
high financial leverage.
Financial Leverage and Cost of Equity
The effect of financial leverage on the cost of equity is prevalent in the Modigliani
Miller capital structure theory. Since the financial leverage increases the cost of
equity, it can be considered one of the disadvantages of borrowing. As shown in
Appendix A, the cost of equity, at each debt to capital ratio, increases by 0.1% as the
financial leverage increases by 10%. With a higher
26. The Use Of Vengeance In Poe s Literature
The author Edgar Allan Poe used many acts of vengeance in his writings, this
became a huge phenomenon mainly because people had never seen such acts in
literature. Poe s main reason for his writings of vengeance was because of traumatic
experiences throughout his life. He is the first writer to depict fictional horror and
vengeance based upon the events that occur during his life. Characters in his stories
are usually committed acts of vengeance or experienced them. In the short stories the
Pit and the Pendulum and the Cask of AmontilladoEdgar Allan Poeuses the literary
devices of tone and foreshadowing to discuss man s vengeance.
Edgar Allan Poe, an excellent gothic styled writer, has written many stories about
death because the people he cherished died from drowning in their lungs due to
tuberculosis. Poe s usage of man s vengeance leads to many deaths of many
characters, whether they are friend or foe some act of revenge usually happens in his
stories. In the short story The Pit and the Pendulum , the narrator whose name is
never given, is sentenced to death for his crime. The Spanish Inquisition was a
judicial institution seemingly established to combat heresy in Spain. This is an act of
vengeance because whatever the narrator had done was bad enough for the Spanish

In the story The Cask of Amontillado Edgar Allan Poe foreshadows the death of

27. Grotesque Themes In Southern Gothic Literature
Southern Gothic literature is a style of writing common from the early to mid
nineteen hundreds. This style of writing expressed what could be described as
grotesque subject matter such as paranormal activity, racism, and mental disorders.
The southern gothic theme was expressed in many short stories of the 19th century
including A Rose for Emily and The life you save may be your own , this genre
included an assortment of themes such as that pertaining to: the paranormal, mental
illness, poverty and slavery.

were written about and exploited. The southern gothic writing style was created to
leave the public feeling slightly unsettled. This kind of writing ventured into genre s

Emily shows signs of mental illness through not being connected with the outside
world and refusing to let in any form of new technology. Anyone of this time would
have the common misconception that the mentally ill were to be ostracized. This

time persuaded the public to think like this or the public living like this could have
manipulated the writing to make light of this kind of

DISTRIBUTION IN BANKING BUSINESS
Distribution in financial services marketing is concerned with how the service is
delivered to the customer, making sure that it is available in a place, at a time and in
a format that is appropriate and convenient for the customer.
In a growing number of countries, the expansion of the financial services sector has
been accompanied by a significant blurring of lines between different institutional
types with, for instance, retail banks offering insurance products (bancassuarance),
insurance companies offering bank accounts and supermarkets launching their own
credit cards. As a consequence, individual organizations can no longer claim a
distinctive market position based on the products they offer. ... Show more content on

Rationale for banking agents
Banking agents help financial institutions to divert existing customers from crowded
branches providing a complementary , often more convenient channel. Other
financial institutions, especially in developing markets, use agents to reach an
additional client segment or geography. Reaching poor clients in rural areas is often
prohibitively expensive for financial institutions since transaction numbers and
volumes do not cover the cost of a branch. In such environments banking agents that
piggy back on existing retail infrastructure and lower set up and running cost can
play a vital role in offering many low income people their first time access to a
range of financial services. Also, low income clients often feel more comfortable
banking at their local store than walking into a marble branch.
Banking agents are the backbone of mobile banking, i.e., performing transactions
over a mobile device, most often a mobile phone. To enable clients to convert cash
into electronic money and vice versa which can send be sent over their mobile
phone, clients will have to visit a branch, automated teller machine (ATM), or
banking agent. Especially in remote and rural locations, where cash is still the most
important way to pay and transact, a mobile banking service is dependent on

Although Ernest Hemingway incurred a public image of a carefree veteran of
war turned writer, he was a man suffering under the sickness of having been present
in the face of death; in the photograph of Hemingway, the set of his shoulders,

misnomered facade, he was a sick person. At first glance, one can see Hemingway
holding a gun in front of his face, with his shoulders closed off to the photographer.
A person usually scrunches their shoulders up when they are uncomfortable or
feeling cautionary of that which is front of him; this entirely reveals how
Hemingway felt wary of what was in front of him, be it the future or necessity to trust

Some schools banned South Park related merchandise for students, and parent

should be an eye opener to parents. Kids are not nice, innocent, flower loving little

Result of the said poll serves as a good
evidence that South Park has a certain level of impact on the children. If kids vote
for a specific character, it means that they can relate to that character in one way or
another, and children tend to imitate what they see or like. Is Eric Cartman a good
influence for children? I don t think so.

The idea of using blood of a living creature, (typically an animal s) in order to blot
out immorality, or better known as sin, can be traced back to the roots of primal
civilization. Specifically in Judaism, the ritual started in which an animal was
sacrificed in order to cover the sins of a person or multiple people. As we presently
observe the traditions of Judaismwe do not find any sign of animal sacrifice, with an
exception of orthodox Jews. While on the other hand, Fundamentalist Latter Day

One story in the Bible that might draw to the assumption that Yahweh required
human sacrifice is the account of Abraham being asked by God to sacrifice his son
Isaac. God stopped Abraham, with knife in hand, from sacrificing Isaac.
Deuteronomy 12:31 further supports that Judaism culture did not regard human
sacrifice as virtuous: You must not worship the Lord your God in their way, because
in worshiping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things the Lord hates. They
even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.
Even though animal sacrificing was a center tradition of Judaism, it ceased in the
year 70 A.D. after the Roman army had destroyed the Jewish temple in Jerusalem
(Dumbrell). Deuteronomy says thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that
thou seest : But in the place which the LORD shall choose in one of thy tribes Thus
the custom of animal sacrificing could no longer continue in the culture of Judaism.

Pollution is a damaging with fish farming. A group of wild fishing being fed to
fish in the ocean will eventually transfer disease. As well, fish pollute the water
from their wastes. Fish farming also affects the growth and genetics of the fish
because they are not in a wild environment. More research should be completed to
provide more adequate information and prevent negative outcomes for fish
farming. If farmers were unable to produce fish, the wild fish population would be
in trouble. The world would have an unreliable source of fish, because fishermen
would be over fishing the waters. Consumers would have a limited menu of fish
species. If there was overfishing social areas, such as beaches, would be greatly
affected. As well, other wildlife would be greatly affected by overfishing. Over all,
unless laws would be placed the world would not have enough marine life to
sustain. The wild fishing in the waters would be greatly reduces to try and conserve
what we have, if a law was in place.
In conclusion, my thoughts on U.S. production if fish farming was disbanded are that
the aquaculture economy would suffer. Also the population would have very
limited sources and quantities of fish. There could also be positive changes made
to help the fish reproduce more in the wild so we do not exhaust our fish supply.
Designated fishing areas that have an excess of fish would also be a solution to wild

prevention is very ineffective, the legality of military intervention still needs to be
debated, as to date there is no consensus. For any intervention to be legitimate,
whether unilateral or multilateral, it must comply with international law. So as not to
cause any confusion, any situation in which an intervention is done with the

Article 2 (7) goes on to state that the UN will not intervene in matters considered

sovereignty in international law as almost absolute. This belief has been further
demonstrated in General Assembly Resolutions. Resolution 2625, accepts the

Biocultural Analysis of Gattaca Movie (1997)
Introduction
Gattaca is an American based science fiction cinema directed by Andrew Niccol in
1997. The movie is set shortly where social class is demarcated by the genetic
composition. Eugenics, which is the methodology of conceiving babies via genetic
manipulation, has become the most typical process of giving birth (Niccol, 2015).
Though discrimination is unlawful, the D.N.A analysis has become an ordinary
procedure, and those who were naturally conceived are seen as invalids , which
makes discriminated in various, for instance, resulting in being given minor jobs.
Therefore, this research presents the summary, the biocultural phenomenon, and the
real world implications of Gattaca (1997) movie.
Media Summary
The film, Gattaca (1997) is set shortly where genetically conceived babies are
preferred to those that are born naturally. The main characters in this film include
Vincent Jerome, Eugene, Irene, Director Josef, Detective Hugo, and Anton. Vincent
Freeman is among the last children to be naturally conceived. After his birth, the
physicians tell his parents of his many limitations, in particular, that his lifespan is
estimated to be 30.2 years (Niccol, 2015). Vincent decides to travel to the stars.
However, he is categorized by the society as not suitable regarding his genetic
composition, and he has turned out to be among the discriminated humans who are
only offered menial careers. To proceed with his mission, he assumes Jerome
Morrow s identity since the latter had a perfect genetic composition and was
paraplegic due to his involvement in a car accident. Vincent manages to deceive the
urine and DNA sample testing after following a professional advice. However, his
mission becomes jeopardized when his program director is murdered, and a fresh
investigation is tabled.
Biocultural Phenomenon
In the near future, when the idea of genetic engineering is common among humans,
and the DNA plays an integral part in identifying one s social class, Vincent is
conceived and born naturally without the assistance of genetic engineering
technologies. He suffers from the almost eliminated physical deformations of

of the slowdown the telegraph.com forecasted 100,000 145,000 jobs were lost in
2009 within the retail industry in Britain. Using PESTLE highlights the need for
retail organisations to implement increased scrutiny on employment law as the
number of unfair dismissal cases being brought forward have risen. As reported in
the Acas annual report 2009/2010: The number of individual employment claims
referred to Acas for conciliation rose by 13% to 87,421 (up from 77,478 in 2008/09).
As always, unfair dismissal was the most common type of claim and featured in

43. Essay on The Dynamics of Marxism
The Dynamics of Marxism
Human relationships have always been dynamic. Change and adaptability have
gone hand in hand with the passing of time for human society. Karl Marx s views
on Industrialization and the bourgeoisie had a major impact on how we view our
industrial alignment today. Marx and Engel s The Communist Manifesto gives broad
views on the subject of the middle class and how they fit into a society that was ruled
by feudalism and aristocracy. Capitalism becomes a major topic in a socialist based
society that underwent many changes as industrialization progressed. A government
must be dynamic in its nature reflecting the change in society. At times aristocracy
has refused to allow society to adapt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regarding Marx s attitude toward religion, he thought that it was simply in the
man s conscious to worship a god. To Marx, the only reason a man would worship
a god would be because society tells them that they are supposed to. The same
could be said about some people who live in our society today. Our world tells us
that we are supposed to worship a god, even though there are still people who
choose not to. Though Marx celebrated Christian views at a younger age, he belief
in a god diminished as he got older and started his work as a radical philosopher.
Marx sums it all up in a famous quote, stating that religion is an opium for the people.
With
Karl Marx observed the socio economic changes that were occurring in Britain.
England was a dominant world power and also had the largest industrialized
economy during the 1800 s. This was the main vocal point of Dickens Hard Times.
The development of the factory created a large demand for workers. As
industrialization evolved by using industry as the economic backbone for
population, a large number of factory workers were hired to operate the machinery
in these thought to be hard conditions. These workers, who were deemed peasants,
were now considered to be the working class. They entered the cities with hopes of
living better lives and hoped to be able to support their families. Though
44. Compare And Contrast The Kngiht And The Squire Essay
Geoffrey Chaucer portrayed a cross section of medieval society though The
Canterbury Tales. quot; The Prologue quot; or foreword of this work serves as an
introduction to each of the thirty one characters involved in the tales. Two of these
characters are the Kght and the Squire, who share a father and son relation. These
individuals depart on a religious pilgrimage to a cathedral in Canterbury. The Squire,
opposed to the Knight, goes for a vacation instead of religious purposes. His intent is
not as genuinand pure as his father s.
Though the Knight and the Squire are from the same feudal class and vocation, they
differ in the fact that the Knight represents how society should have been; and the
Squire depicts an accurate portrayal of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Squire is an extremely vain individual, taking pains to improve his appearance.
His superfluous appareis clean and bright and his hair has quot;locks as curly as if
they had been pressed quot;(120). This greed for wealth and beauty definitely does
not abide by the code of chivalry and is unnecessary for his knighthood. The Knight,
more concerned with gallantrynever partakes in such nonsense. He is by far the most
chivalrous and heroic. The Knight s motivation is based on chivalry and religion,
contrasting to the Squire who merely wants to impress the ladies.
The Squire wastes time and energy that could be channeled more towards his
knightly duties. The real motivation of the Squires not based on chivalry, rather it is
the appearance of chivalry he wishes to display. Chaucer stated that the Knight,
quot;from the day on which he first began / To ride abroad, had followed chivalry
quot;(119). The Knight is utterly sincere and whole heartedn his pursuits.
Unfortunately, the reasons for becoming a cavalier are self seeking and egotistical in
the Squire s case opposed to the selfless Knight.Despite the fact that the Knight and
the Squire share the same class and occupation, the Knight represents the perfect
society while the Squire portrays the society of that
45. Henry Ford Essay example
Henry Ford was born July 30, 1863 in Wayne county, Michigan. He was the son of
Irish immigrants, William and Mary Ford, who had settled on a farm in Dearborn.
In addition to helping his father with the harvest, Ford also attended school in a one
room schoolhouse. However, Ford disliked both school and farm life, and at age 16,
he walked to Detroit in search of employment.
Ford was employed as an apprentice in a machine shop, where he learned about the
internal combustion engine. After several years of learning his trade, Ford returned to
the family farm and worked part time for the Westinghouse Engine Company. Ford set
up a small machine shop on the farm and began tinkering with engines and machines.
During this time, Ford fell in love ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1908, Ford introduced the successful Model T, which was manufactured for 19
years. However, Ford s successes were not without problems. Soon after the
incorporation of the Ford Motor Company, Ford was threatened by the Association of
Licensed Automobile Manufacturers. After years of legal battles, Ford won his case
in 1911, which made it possible for more people to become automobile manufacturers.
Ford was able to market the Model T to the general public because of his advanced
production technology. The Ford Motor Company s plant in Highland Park,
Michigan, Ford introduced the first assembly line in 1913, which drastically reduced
production time. As a result, more automobiles were made available at a lower cost.
Ford also instituted the $5.00/day minimum wage, which he claimed increased
productivity.
However, not everyone was impressed with Ford s business practices, and in 1917,
he was sued by his stockholders for diverting profits into company expansion.
Although the court ruled in favor of the stockholders, by 1920, Ford was able to buy
them out. He built a huge plant in River Rouge, and the company became almost
entirely self sufficient.
In 1926, Ford began losing sales to General Motors because the Model T was
becoming outdated. The Ford plants were shut down for five months, after which
Ford introduced the Model A and later the V 8. Both models received moderate
success but were outsold by General Motors and Chrysler.

47. Education In South Africa
Education is something to cherish not something to take advantage of. In America
we are lucky to have the many opportunities of education where other places
education is not even an option for some. South Africa has the worst education
system of the entire world. This is the biggest challenge the country faces and it
needs to be at the top of all of the priority lists. Gender, social class, race, and
religion are also factors that affect the possibility of having an education.
In comparison with other countries South Africa is ranked at the bottom. The students
lack in all areas of school and their scores are low in all subjects. In south Africa, a
shocking 27% of pupils who have attended school for six years cannot read (The
Economist, 2). This is compared to other countries in Africa where the highest
percentage is 19% in Zimbabwe. The rankings in math are no better than those in
english seeing as how, after five years of school about half can work out that 24
divided by three is eight (The Economist, 2). Test scores prove the theories that
South Africa has the worst margin of test scores. The gap in test scores between the
top 20% of schools and the rest is wider than in almost every other country (The
Economist, 3). This shows that the test scores are very wide in South Africa. Race
has a negative impact because of the Bantu Education Act of 1953 which stated that
whites should receive a better education than blacks. This is discriminating to lesser
races in the

Strange Fruit is about the lynching of African Americans. As it states in the song
Here is fruit for the crows to pluck, for the rain to gather, for the wind to suck, for
the sun to rot, for the trees to drop, here is a strange and bitter crop clearly
describing the sight of bodies hanging on the trees for a long period of time. Billie
said that singing that song made her fearful of retaliation, but the imagery of the
song reminded her of her father (Virginia). Surprisingly Strange Fruit became a huge
part of her performances. Her shows began to end with her singing this song
powerfully in the dark with a light shining on
