Example Of Process Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "Example Of Process Essay" may present a unique set of
challenges. The difficulty lies in navigating through the intricacies of elucidating a process in a
manner that is both informative and engaging. Crafting a well-structured and coherent piece
involves breaking down a process into manageable steps, ensuring clarity, and maintaining a
logical flow.
One challenge is striking the right balance between detail and conciseness. Too much detail can
overwhelm the reader, while too little may leave them confused. It's essential to find the sweet
spot where every step is adequately explained without bogging down the essay with unnecessary
information.
Moreover, maintaining a reader's interest throughout the essay is crucial. A process essay may
risk becoming dry or monotonous if not infused with a sense of engagement. Therefore,
incorporating relevant examples, anecdotes, or real-life scenarios can be challenging but
necessary to make the essay more relatable and enjoyable for the reader.
Additionally, the process of selecting the right processes to exemplify can be daunting. Ensuring
that the chosen process is not only relevant but also offers valuable insights to the audience adds
an extra layer of complexity.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of a process essay requires a delicate balance of
detail, engagement, and relevance. It involves a meticulous selection of processes and a
thoughtful presentation to keep the reader both informed and entertained. Despite these
challenges, mastering the art of writing process essays can be immensely rewarding for those
who are willing to invest time and effort in honing their skills.
For those seeking assistance in essay writing or looking for examples, various resources are
available. One such option is HelpWriting.net, where similar essays and much more can be
ordered to facilitate the writing process.

The Slap Short Story
Written by Steven Millhauser, The Slap is a highly detailed short story that
showcases the theme of how fear can debilitate a town. The story is centered on a
man who goes around slapping people once and then walks away without a trace.
Each victim gives a detailed testimony to the reader throughout the story until the
slapping comes to an end. The town is very distraught over these incidents because it
is a violation of their security and safety. The slap is not so much a physical attackas it
is a mental attack. The town as a whole is affected by the fear of being slapped and
gives into that fear by no longer wearing trench coats, making sure their houses are
secure more than before and by parents walking their kids to school and picking
them up. At the beginning of the story, the town is described as a safe community
with nice houses and a wealthy demographic. There are five bedroom homes, a
private beach, horse riding academy and yacht club. The city is to the east where the
people go to work every day. This is where the first victimis assaulted. This victim is
Robert Lasher. He is assaulted while walking to his car after work. The man who
slapped him was wearing a neatly polished trench coat and looked as if was on the
wealthier side. As a wealthy man, it was the trend to wear a trench coat at the time,
so it is no surprise that when later on in the story Lasher sees a man walk towards
him wearing the jacket he attacks first. Turns out the man in the coat was mistaken
Word Finding Deficits In Adults With Aphasia
Word Finding Deficits in Adults with Aphasia I.Introduction on Adults with Aphasia
Aphasia is communication disorder that impairs a person language as a result of
brain damage (WebMD Medical, 2014). The disorder impacts a person receptive and
expressive communication abilities as well as reading and written language. Aphasia
makes it difficult for people to communicate effectively with others that can lead to
misunderstanding their needs or wants. Brain damage can result from a stroke, head
injury, brain tumor, an infection or dementia. There are several types of aphasia in
which each type of impairment are classified into two general categories of fluent
aphasia and non fluent aphasia. Fluent aphasia demonstrates a person s ability... Show

The results show that there were little phonemic paraphasias in the therapy treatment
compared to the baseline phase. A similar decrease was evident in the client s
dysfluent hesitations, and rates of all other errors such as formal paraphasias and
semantic paraphasias were lower during the therapy session (Fisher, Wilshire,
Ponsford, 2009). Word discrimination therapy demonstrated that gains were
significantly faster for the words that were trained within phonologically related
triplets compared to those trained in unrelated triplet sets. Following the therapy
session, the client was reassessed during the maintenance testing after three months of
post therapy. The outcome indicated that the therapy gains were well maintained over
time for both related and unrelated sets. The examination of error types showed that
phonemic paraphasias, dysfluent hesitations, formal paraphasias, and semantic
paraphasias remained well below when observed during baseline testing in both
related and unrelated items during the treatment phases (Fisher, Wilshire, Ponsford,

Does freezing popcorn yield more popcorn?
Project Design Plan.
This scientific experiment is to gauge the amount of kernels popped when the
storage temperatures of the kernels are changed. Does freezing popcorn kernels for
24 hours yield more or less popped kernels than popcorn kernels stored at room
temperature? By performing this experiment we can decide how to maximize our
food potential. We will purchase six identical brands of popcorn from the local food
store that have the same ingredients, weight and brand name. We will take three of
the bags of popcorn kernels and store it in a standard household freezer for twenty
four hours. The temperature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keep in mind that you must enter the amount of time on your microwave that you
chose from your time testing trial. Do not use the popcorn button that is standard on
most microwaves. It is important to test the time with one frozen and one shelf
stored popcorn package. This will allow us to record the exact time needed to
perform our test on the remaining bags of popcorn.
7. Now perform two trials of test with one bag of frozen popcorn kernels and one
bag of room temperature popcorn. It is important to record the data off of each trial
separately.
8. When finished recording your numbers from the two trail experiments take the
average of each trial and compare the final results.
Reasoning of this design.
The brand of popcorn testing has proven to be inconsistent. Each major brand of
popcorn claims to have the highest amount of popped kernels. We chose this method
of experiment because we can control the variables of the experiment. By
controlling the temperature we can determine which method will yield the most
amount of popcorn instead of relying on which brand claims to have the most yield
of popcorn or studies on brands. This experiment can be used on all brands as long
as the brand name stays the same.
Sequence of Events.
Take each bag of popped popcorn and count the individual kernels that did not pop
and record the data on the chart. Perform this for each
Bildungsroman Is Defined As A Novel Of The Novel And ...
Bildungsroman is defined as: a novel of formation or novel of education. The subject
of this novel is the development of the protagonist s mind and character, in the
passage from childhood through varied experiences and often through a spiritual
crisis into maturity, which usually involves recognition of one s identity and role in
the world (M.H. Abrams, A Glossary of Literary Terms). Lewis Carroll s Alice in
Wonderland and Maurice Sendak s Where the Wild Things Are use this literary
device through their main characters, Alice, and Max, as they grow either physically
or mentally throughout their journeys. Alice and Max experience change that
modifies their perspectives of the worlds they must navigate. Through the constant
physical changes Alice encounters with her adventures in Wonderland, she learns to
cherish her fleeting childhood and innocence. By undertaking an authority position in
the land of the Wild Things, Max experiences mental growth and learns to appreciate
the weight of adulthood. Alice begins the novel as a naГЇve child, who struggles with
adjusting to new situations and the nonsense of Wonderland. She struggles with the
continuous growth and changes of her body. Alice goes through various physical
changes during her time in Wonderland that makes her uncomfortable. This
continuous growth is similar to a child going through the awkward physical changes
of puberty. Per the Department of Pediatrics, University of California, School of
Medicine and Davis,
Photorealism In Manet s A Bar At The Folies-Bergere
Photorealism is a term that characterizes the artists whose work depends heavily on
photographs and mixes together the real and the unreal. For example, Manet s A
Bar at the Folies BergГЁre utilizes photorealism to depict a scene from modern
Parisian life: a young barmaid stands behind the bar of a bustling night club,
confronting the viewer with a worn out, emotionless expression and seemingly
awaiting her patron s order or request. The painting plays with our sense of reality by
showing a strange man and the misaligned reflections of the barmaid and the
champagne bottles in a mirror. Likewise, in Picture for Women, Jeff Wall emulates
the internal structure of Manet s painting and incorporates elements such as the light
bulbs and and poles to give the imagespatial depth. This photograph shows a
reflection in the mirror of a sparse studio room split into three panels with a woman
on the left, a camera framed by a window in the center, and a man walking on the
right. Both images utilize reflection to breach the limits of the naked eye s
perspective and evoke a sense of mystery and ambiguity. This paper will argue that
in Picture for Women and Bar at the Folies Bergere, Jeff Wall and Manet utilize
female protagonists and the motif of the mirror to examine spectatorship and
movement in still art and challenge our traditional sense of reality and the concept of
the male gaze. In both Manet s Bar and Wall s Picture for Women, the mirror
challenges our common sense perceptions
Analysis Of The Book The Night
CHAPTER TWENTY SIX Dungeons, Smoke, and Mirrors The king s hands shook
as he gripped the arms of his gilded chair. Set that monster there! he shouted with
such rage, the entire castle trembled. The gruesome goblin shuffled over and
plopped down on a wooden tripod stool in the center of the dungeon floor. Argos
came over and had to stoop so he didn t scrape his huge head on the sloped ceiling.
He squatted behind Gordok, wrapped chains around his wrists and ankles, then
melted into the dark shadows again. For a few moments, I stared at the monster
and started to kind of choke up, thinking about all we had gone through to capture
him. I was still lost in thought when Emma skipped down the stairs, smiling at me.
She took a few steps, then screeched loud enough to vibrate the cobwebs that were
stretched across the corners of the room. Eeew, yuck. She pointed to Gordok who
was still in a stupor. That monster stinks like rotten fish. Wow! I ll talk to you later,
she said and marched out of the dungeon and up the stairs. King Zander sighed.
You have my things Aiden? Oh . . . Sorry. I almost forgot. Here, I handed him the
golden key. He set it on top of a small box with an inscription written in silver and it
vanished. Then I gave him the wand and he pointed it at the goblin and shouted

Languages Of Sex And Theoretical Perspectives
This weeks readings were The Languages of Sex by Jeffrey Weeks and Theoretical
Perspectives by Steven Seidman. Both readings and in class discussion brought up
some really interesting points. Tuesday we had an interesting in class discussion
on the idea of if we were to travel to a culture where ankles were sexualized rather
than say breasts. How we become aware that some body parts are sexualized. This
discussion was so interesting because it became aware how weird it is that our
society has certain body parts that are sexualized. This carried on into Thursday s
discussion about how both authors touched on the increased emphases that humans
have a natural drive or need for sex and what happens when he described sex has a
natural desire.
Sn1 Reaction Lab Report
SN1 reactions only occur with certain reagents under very specific conditions. These
reactions have an intermediate and occur in two distinct steps. The first step is the
formation of the carbocation once the leaving group departs from the molecule. The
type of leaving group is vital in determining if an SN1 reactionwill occur. In general,
the efficiency of the leaving group increases as the size of the halide ion increases.
However, p Toluensulfonate is the most effective and reactive leaving group. As this
step forms a carbocation, it is important to note that the type of carbocation that will
form. SN1 reactions will not occur if the intermediate is not stable. Therefore, the
degree of substitution of the leaving group, and consequently the carbocation, is vital.

Correspondingly, primary alkyl halides are the least likely to react. Additionally, the
solvent has the ability to stabilize the carbocation. A polar protic solvent is favored as
it will form hydrogen bonds to further stabilize the carbocation intermediate. Overall,
SN1 reactions are widely dependent on the formation of a stable carbocation
intermediate. Since SN1 reactions are dependent on the formation of the carbocation,
and that step occurs separately from the nucleophilic addition, the rate of the reaction
is not typically affected by the nature or concentration of the nucleophile. The
mechanism of an SN1 reaction is consistent. First, the leaving group leaves forming
the carbocation. The intermediate carbocation is planar and achiral. The nucleophile
is then free to attack from either side of the carbocation, which forms the substituted
product in either a racemic mixture or with some form of

Pupil premium:
One core theme that derives from the fieldwork frequently is pupil premium. All
respondents were asked, which policy if any, would you say has been the most
effective at promoting educational attainment among pupils from economically
deprived areas? (Question 4). All respondents answered pupil premium as being the
most effective policy. Respondents A, B and D all argued that the extra funding
helped to promote education attainment among pupils from economically deprived
backgrounds through more staff, additional facilities and funds for students. The data
drawn from table 4.2 supports earlier literature on pupil premium.
As previously stated, this extra funding ensures that schools with deprived pupils
enroled have enough resources as tools to succeed in education. Relating back to
Table 4.2, respondents A and D both state funding for staff, this is further supported
by Carpenter et al (2013) who argue that the policy contributes highly to additional
staff and teachers have perceived this to be very effective. This is particularly
relevant to aim 3, on the outcomes of policy as additional staff contribute to
promoting educational attainment because it offers deprived pupils with additional
support and guidance.
A concern is drawn from the fieldwork by respondent B and C, this ... Show more

External factors such as communities and cultural capital are shown as key in
attainment and are recognised. But, this research is concerned with what goes on
inside schools. Thereby, internal factors should not be undermined by external
factors. Schools matter and focus are given to policies directed at schools. The pupil
premium, academies and Teach First have been praised for their effectiveness in
helping schools to better pupil learning and promote attainment, through additional
staff and facilities and well qualified

Grand Canyon National Park Short Report
The Grand Canyon is one of the most amazing natural wonders in the world. It was
originally deposited sediment that was lithofied, and turned into sedimentary rock.
The rock was then carved out by hydraulic processes (Warneke). These processes, all
combined, took almost three to six million years to form the Grand Canyon.
Continued erosion by wind and rain in the present time continues to shift what the
canyon looks like, and make it different as time goes on ( Grand Canyon Facts ).
This seemingly boring process came to fruition in one of the most beloved National
Parks in the United States of America. The Grand Canyon National Park is located
in the state of Arizona. It is over 270 miles long and, ... Show more content on

approximately, 44,173 visitors a year, the first year it opened. Now it has over five
million visitors every single year. However, if it had not been for the Civilian
Conservation Corps, the park might not be in the condition it is today. In 1933,
Franklin Delano Roosevelt created the Civilian Conservation Corps as a part of his
New Deal (Audretsch). On May 19, 1933 the first Civilian Conservation Corps
Company, Company 819 arrived in the Grand Canyon. They did many things for the
park, including building stone walls alongside the rim of the canyon (to protect
places such as El Tovar Hotel and Bright Angel Lodge). In addition they worked to
improve the Bright Angel Trail, and worked to landscape the Grand Canyon Village
(Audretsch). It is because of their hard work that the Community Building at the
Grand Canyon exists today.

Music And The Heart Summary
In the article Music and the heart, authors Stefan Koelsch and Lutz Jäncke go over
a series of studies to show the effects of music on the heart. They start off talking
about how music is a powerful stimulus for inflicting moods and emotions and also
has an impact on heart activity. They go on to talk about how the results of studies on
the effect of musicon the heart and emotions have often been inconsistent. Mainly, the
inconsistencies are due to the use of different methods and musical stimuli. Music
has a large variety of genres and styles and many of the studies do not include the
specific types of music used in their studies. With different types of music being used
in each study, there will be many different reactions, therefore,... Show more content

They believed that numerous studies mentioned suffered methodological
shortcomings. Their first recommendation was to accurate characterization of music
because music can be perceived differently by different people. Second, use different
sets of music prepared by the experimenter so the participants can choose because
music stimuli of different sets will be well matched so there is a high likelihood that

musical preferences for the intended listening situation. Fourth, clinical studies should
include control groups to avoid the placebo effect. Last, they recommend that clinical
studies include psychologically relevant outcome variable such as mood, anxiety,
pain and economically relevant outcome variables. In result, we can conclude that
exciting music and musical fission increases heart rate, respiratory rate compared to
tranquilizing music. Also, music can affect regional heart activity and can be used in
clinical settings to reduce pain, anxiety, blood pressure, and depression. Lastly, the
authors talked about wanting more pressing for high quality systematic research on
the effects of music on the heart in both healthy individuals and
Patrick Bateman In American Psycho
In the movie American Psycho, Patrick Bateman perpetrates numerous murders
with no justified reasoning. Bateman makes a living as a young, wealthy executive
who works on Wall Street. He lives life by dining at voguish restaurants, while
managing appearances for his fiancГ©e. His social group tends to consist of
associates with the same occupation as his him and his wellbeing. What his
associates and no one else knows about him is his hidden life as a serial killer.
Bateman often boasted about his extravagant lifestyle. His appearance will trick one
to believe he is a character that he really isn t. The wealthier people are, the more
society values them. Bateman displays many cultural functions during the terrifying
film. Being wealthy and working on Wall Street induces the feeling of being
unassailable. Bateman s killings were perpetrated due to enviousness and
embarrassment. He murdered numerous people in gruesome acts. These murders
made visible the actions of the male gender whenever they are frustrated. No matter
how many times King Arthur killed the ogre of Mount Saint Michael, the monster
reappeared in another heroic chronicle, bequeathing the Middle Ages an abundance
of morte d Arthurs (Cohen 106). Bateman shows society who we are by perpetrating

The murders that Bateman perpetrated can t be done by anyone. More likely, they

resist attempts to include them in any systematic structuration (Cohen 107). The
aggression of men categorizes them differently than women because men possess

Essay on Medieval Battle Tactics
Medieval Battle Tactics
Medieval tactics were essential for an attack or siege of a castle. Many tactics and
strategies helped develop much improved version of an attacking artifact, like
weapons and sieging machinery. The knights of Medieval England which were the
cavalry, improved as the years went by, but never actually had any tactics or
strategies. The usual knight would just go out there and fight. The knights were the
counter offensive against a small siege, but they were ineffective against a large siege
of a castle. A siege was very essential for medieval warfare. Siege was like the most
important part of an attack; that is if you re attacking a castle.

Pavises or Mantlets were shields that bowmen or archers took around. The purpose
of these shields was to deflect crossbow bolts and arrows, so that the archer could
have total protection to fire. These shields; were constructed out of wood, and had a
slit through the middle allowing the archer to shoot through the slit and begin
picking off the enemy. These were used in the battlefield or upon sieging a castle.
They were most effectively used in the battlefield, because they can find a good spot
and start shooting at soldiers.
The Siege of a Castle was a guarantied victory, but it took a long time of patience.
Patience was the key to victory with this strategy, however it was scarce in the
battlefield, because of the angry, impatient soldiers waiting to get home to their
families. The city walls were suppose to be fortifying a position that could not be
easily overrun, and that it could be strong enough to enable the defense to maintain
that position for a long period of time. Siege of a fort, castle, or city walls had four
basic concepts. The Sieging technique was directly directed towards these four. In
order for the attackers to get inside they would have to go over the wall, tear a
passage through the wall, dig a tunnel underneath it, or just wait until the defenders
surrendered.
Going over the wall meant constructing a tower that was moved with the help of
wheels, this
Implicit Bias Analysis
Implicit Biases in Reader Response
Reading Jane Austen has never appealed to me. The combination of dated prose, a
general aversion to plots I deemed to be too romantic , and my viewing of the film
adaptations were enough to keep me away from her novels. When I was asked to
read Persuasion for a class, I was hesitant and unwilling to fully engage with the
material. This prevented me from enjoying the book fully. I didn t quite know what
was holding me back from enjoying the book, but I knew that it was something
more than my explicit biases against Austen. After a little reflection, I realized that
my implicit biases were shaping my reading of Austen. My implicit bias against a
novel and author that I perceived as overly feminine was coloring how I was
interacting with and what messages I was taking from Persuasion (Austen).
Implicit biases are the unconscious attitudes that shape our thoughts, actions, and
beliefs (Banaji and Greenwald 46; Staats et al. 10; Schneider 169).Their impact is
important to study because implicit biases shape our responses to situations. Reader
response theory examines how a reader responds to a given text. Theorists such as
Jauss and Eco include concepts that implicit bias can and should be built into. Jauss
horizons examine how our experiences, expectations, culture, and place in time shape
how we react and create meaning. Though implicit bias is not noted in Jauss
formulation of the horizon, it should be considered as it shapes our
Stereotypes In The Film Aladdin
The movie Aladdin s main characters were barely redeemable at the end; they
emitted an abundance of negative implicit messages. Aladdin deceived everyone
without much backlash and fell in love based on looks. While Jasmine, the strong
female character, trusted and forgave too easily, used her sexuality to escape a
predicament, and was dependent on being saved. Even the background characters
were quite horrible, but because they were written from Middle Eastern/Arabic
stereotypes; the guards were cruel and the movie even featured a brothel. The movie
clearly had way more negative messages than positive ones.

The Issue Of Gun Safety Essay
When thinking about gun safety, many people think of the news channels, or the
speeches from Congress and the President about guns and some of the problems that
they cause. Man go as far as saying that the more guns U.S. civilians have, the more
crime will rise.. Though there are many problems that happen that involve guns, it is
not the guns themselves causing these problems; it s the people that are behind them.
Gun safety is a subject that has been a main topic in the past few years among
many, especially within politics. It is something that has become a substantial topic
in the past few years due to many shootings and accidents that have occurred with
today s youth. It is a topic that needs to be addressed. Gun safety is very important
in the matters of teaching people that firearms are not a toy. One should always treat
the gun like it is loaded. Too many people choose to play around with guns by
swinging them around, tossing them to people, or aiming the gun at other people and
pretending to shoot them. These are signs that people are much too immature and
should not be handling a firearm. Interviewed a friend about an instance that involved
a situation with someone being very immature when it came to handling a gun. When
to a hunting store to purchase a hunting shotgun this past summer, there was a
gentleman standing right next to the handgun case looking at a semi automatic pistol.
The man asked to look at a certain handgun and then proceeded to pick up the
Speech About Coconut
Coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) is one of the main crops which is abundantly produced
in the Philippines. Coconut can be served as food and can be produced to various
products and by products. Some food examples are copra, coconut oil, coconut milk,
latik, desiccated coconut, coconut flour, etc. As compared to other agricultural crops,
coconutprovides more products and by products since all of its parts starting from the
tree itself to the fruits has its uses. Hence, many people especially in Southeast Asia,
Pacific region, Africa and some countries in Latin America, considered coconut as a
significant crop in agriculture and industries (The Coconut Industry, n.d.). Since
supply of coconut is very essential to many countries, it is essential to monitor its
production. The production per land area can be quantified through crop yield.
Crop yield is used to determine the efficiency of food production. Basically, it is the
amount of produced crop per area of land. Moreover, it is sometimes called as
agricultural output and conveyed in kilograms/hectare or metric tons/hectare.

Argumentative Essay On Asteroids
Have you ever seen a meteor shower in action? If so, you probably just remember
them as trickles of light in the night sky. As for others, well...the debris behind these
streaks of light, meteoroids, are impending doom.
Asteroids are normally portrayed as the compacted piles of rubble bringing forth the
catastrophic commencement of the apocalypse in films like **Ice, **Meteor Storm,
**Armageddon, etc.
After all, there are a couple of theories to how one of the earliest global disasters had
occurred; **the mass extinction of prehistoric animals, and an asteroid or comet crash
being one of the most popular among these theories. This concept is still debated, as it
was previously believed that volcanic activity was the only factor contributing to the

Essay On Chile And Globalization
Many countries have struggled to adapt to the changes that accompany globalization.
Some countries have succeeded where others have failed, but the transitions have
been bumpy for all the countries that have attempted to engage the global market.
One example is Chile. As explained by Milton Friedman in Episode Two of
Commanding Heights: The Battle for the World Economy, Chile ...was the first case
in which you had a movement toward communism which was replaced by a
movement toward the free markets. Chile has been a success story, and an example
for other countries, but that doesn t mean that it hasn t faced setbacks along the way.
Chile s transition towards globalizationbegan with the 1973 military coup led by
Pinochet. This was a tumultuous period fraught with numerous violations of human
rights and without a clear economic plan in place. Milton Friedman was brought in
to advise Pinochet s government on how to turn around Chile s failing economy.
This was important to Chile s future because Friedman believed in a direct
connection between economic and political freedom. In 1975 an economic plan was
put into place. According to JosГ©... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The GDP declined, the economy slowed, and the Chilean people were unhappy
because the government had implemented ineffective social and economic policies.
There was social inequality stemming from the unequal distribution of income, and
the government s policies were doing nothing to help the situation. The education
system only furthered the social inequality. Education in Chile is expensive, and,
according to Progress and Its Discontent, the fees have been ...rising by 3 4% a year

students in Chile would graduate with large amounts of debt that they couldn t pay
off based on their salaries and earning potential. This led to massive student protests

Environmental Impact Of Automobiles
The environmental impact of automobiles is becoming a major topic for the
manufacturers. New regulations have been created in order to enforce manufacturers
to make automobiles that cause less of an impact. These regulations resulted in an
increased price for the manufacturers and the consumers. The strict standards have
resulted in higher priced automobiles than one would expect (Furth, 2016). With the
enhancements made in technology, one would expect the price of automobiles to
decrease, yet this is not the case due to the impact of the regulations. The
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that automobiles made after 2009
will have a higher price than previous automobiles because of the new regulations
that were put in place (Furth, 2016). However, this belief has led to conflicts
between academic critics and the EPA (Furth, 2016). Further research is required to
determine if the higher costs of automobiles is solely caused by the regulations that
are being imposed or if there is another cause. Either way, the price of automobiles
has increased in the last several years and this can be problematic for any company in
the automobileindustry, but especially for newer competitors like Tesla.
The price of fuel is one reason why consumers are considering purchasing a smaller
and more environmentally friendly car. According to a Consumer Reports Survey, fuel
economy was the main consideration in purchasing a new automobiles to 37% of
those surveyed (Consumers
The Fountain Of Youth Research Paper
Stories have been passed down from generation to generation since the dawn of
time. Stories were often passed down for a purpose, whether it was to bring joy or
hope to a person, or to teach an important lesson. Folktales date far back and are no
exception. Folktales reflect physical, emotional, and social survival, while the
characters experiences help to teach important life lessons.
Physical survival was one of the types of survival folktales show throughout the
stories. In The Fountain of Youth a group of Hispanic men must try to find a magical
fountain that will turn them young again and help them cheat death (Marcatante, The
Fountain of Youth 95). Due to the fact the men did not find the fountain of youth they
will not become young ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Johnny Appleseed s Secret the family knowing the British were coming would
have upset them and caused stress and worry (Marcatante, Johnny Appleseed s
Secret 46). After Johnny told the family that the British were coming they became
worried and frightened because the British were their enemies and could steal
from them or even kill them. A lesson that can be learned from this is if people
have the ability to help someone, then they should do it. Johnny walked two
hundred miles to warn the settlers that the British were on their way. People often
do not go out of their way to help each other and that should change. The First Tears
is a second example of a folktale that demonstrates emotional survival. As he spoke,
water began to flow from the eyes of Woman and Son, and they cried with Man. In
this way people first learned to weep (Schlosser, The First Tears ). Man, Woman,
and Son cried for the first time displaying the emotions of sadness and
disappointment. A moral that can be taken from The First Tears is success does not
always come at first, but do not give up. Man had to cope with his disappointment
in order to try again. When a person fails at something it is tempting to give up.
People need to persevere through challenges in order to be successful. There are
many folktales that display emotional survival, Johnny Appleseed s Secret and The
First Tears are only
The Unpardonable Sin In The Birthmark By Nathaniel...
1. Most of Hawthorne stories take residence in Puritan society, in which Hawthorne
s lineage was severely entrenched. As a result, he was introduced to sorcery, as
Hawthorne was obstructed by the events of the Witch trials and his forefather s part
in it. In general, these stories are integrated by the refrains, the falseness of
Puritanism; the battle amongst external presence and internal representativeness; and
the clash between virtuous and immoral inside us. Tales with paranormal essentials
like The Birthmark and Ethan Brand . Leave me, he said, bitterly, ye brute beasts

Dance With Wolves Analysis
The portrayal of Indigenous people in the film Dance with Wolves written by Michael
B., produced by Jim Wilson and Kevin Costner illustrate a new perspective of the life
of the Indian. The main character, Lieutenant Dunbar, encounters an indigenous man
known as Kicking Bird that later on, the movie will create a relationship with Dunbar.
Through this interaction, Dunbar will be accepted into the tribe and in his journey
with the Siouxpeople, he finds a new way of life. This move is based on the
American Frontier and the capture of the last Free roaming tribe f the Sioux people.
Filmed mainly in South Dakota and Wyoming. The attempt to recreate the image of
the Indian shows the similarity with every Hollywood depiction of Indigenous tribe,...

Although she is shown as a white female, she was raised in the tribe and adapted to
their culture and traditions. Similar to Pocahontas, she was the bridge between
Lieutenant Dunbar and the Sioux as she becomes the translator for the Kicking
bird, their medicine man. In addition, she was always connected back to a male
figure as it appears that her only use was to be with a man. She had lost her sense
of identity and reality when her first husband was killed, then, later on, meets
Lieutenant Dunbar while attempting to kill herself. This is another example of
her being see as the princess because the Princess is allowed the even grander
gesture of committing suicide when her lover is slain or fails to return to her after
she rescues him (Green, 704). She is depicted as helpless without a man and is only
seen as useful with one. In addition, like every depiction of the princess her having
to choose between the non Native man whom she falls in love with or her tribe.
While beautiful the Indian Princess is lesser than white women and more often than

The Benefits Of A College Education
Imagine bouncing from interview to interview with no success, constantly being told
that you were lacking because you had not received a college education. Would you
regret not going to college? As students prepare to graduate high school and
approach the time for college, some may consider skipping collegebecause they are
in such a hurry to chase their dreams, or earn money as soon as possible. However,
they are not realizing the great experiences that they would be missing out on. My
knowledge about college is obtained from two of my siblings who are still
attending a university and my remaining family members who have already
graduated college. Lora Georgieva, a certified college planner, wrote that, more
than 2.3 million people per year graduate college. Despite college feeling like a
waste of time and money, a college education should be valued because it raises
more benefits from jobs, enforces a healthier lifestyle, and supplies students with
golden opportunities. To begin, taking college courses and obtaining a degree will be
a huge factor in earning a favorable job. For instance, with a higher education,
students are more qualified for a job, so it reduces the stress and likelihood of
being unemployed. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, In Jan. 2017, the
unemployment rate for college graduates aged 25 and over with a bachelor s degree
was 2.5%, compared to 3.8% for those with some college or associate s degrees, 5.3%

book also gives possible solutions to problems and stimulates different ways to

Also with regards to therapy for the counselor, it might be beneficial for a
colleague to sit in on some sessions with the therapist to make sure their issues aren
t affecting their counseling. It can never hurt to get feedback and other
perspectives, especially if the therapist is struggling with personal or professional
issues. Another beneficial theme of the book is values and the helping profession.
A therapists values are part of who they are and it is difficult to ignore them. A
complicated issue counselors have is keeping their values from influencing the
client and realizing that their task is to help clients identify their beliefs and apply
their values to solving problems (Corey et al., 2010). A good point made in this
book was for a therapist and client to clarify their values. This way they both have
an understanding of each other s values and could be able to recognize when value
imposition is occurring. If value conflicts are occurring during therapy it would be
a good idea to refer the client to someone who can better understand where the
client is coming from. If referral is the only way, then perhaps the counselor should
explore their values and involvement in therapy. Along with values is one s religious
and spiritual beliefs. Corey et al. (2010) say that therapists should not act as if they
are an expert in religion or push their beliefs onto the client. That is understandable
but is it really that easy. Say for instance that a clients
Roman Arch Essay
During the Roman Empire, the original arch was redesigned to be strong and
support large structures. In the original arch, various rectangle shaped bricks were
haphazardly stacked on each other with hopes of at most supporting a small room.
However, the redesigned arch used precisely measured polyhedrons and trapezoidal
prisms in a specific way to support each other. This developed arch led to the
creation of larger builders, aqueducts, and tunnels. Many empires proceeding the
Romans adapted this design to fit their specific and different needs, and arches are
still used today. Therefore, using basic geometric shapes, the people in the Roman
Empirerevolutionized the arch forever. The Roman Empire did not create the arch
in 23 CE (Ambler). However, they adapted it from a weak arch that could barely
support a small building. Before the Roman Empire, the original arch design was
corbeled with congruent rectangular prisms. A corbeled arch is an arch where
stones are laid so they move toward the center as they move higher (Ambler). Each
rectangular prism has the properties of parallelograms, which are that opposite sides
are congruent, and diagonals bisect each other, as well as all angles in the rectangle,
are right angles, and the diagonals are congruent. The congruent... Show more content

This evolution led to the construction of large buildings, cathedrals, and other
structures used today. Over time, Byzantine architect in Eastern Europe and
Romanesque architects in Western Europe (Ambler) adopted the newly designed arch
and even developed it further. Through centuries, many empires borrowed this design
and modified it in various ways to satisfy their different needs. In this way, the
architecture of ancient Rome has a lasting impact on the world. Therefore, the mere
change in the geometric shapes used in arches had a lasting impact on the world that
can be seen in everyday
Globalizatons and Cherokees
Globalization has caused extreme change on the Cherokee ways of life, institutions,
customs and traditions. The Cherokee people are incorporating more and more of
their past traditions in to their institutions way of life in a means of trying to
preserve them in this every changing world. Once a culture of people that held high
their beliefs and way of life was nearly an extinct culture after the European, and
colonization forced these people out of their land. It is important to see look at the
affects that globalization has on the Cherokeepeople because looking at this we can
see how globalization affects human dignity both in a positive manner and in a
negative manner.
The education institutions that are on the boundary give the Cherokee children the
right to self fulfillment; it does this by providing them with the right education to
go to college or so on if they wish. The school has incorporated ideas from all over
to make sure that their children have the best possible education that they can get to
survive and thrive in the modern world today. Our culture has played a huge impact
on how they view technology. Our culture is constantly obsessing over the newest
and greatest technology, because of this there are tons of jobs in this field. The
Cherokee schools teach children as early as elementary school how to work with
different technology to give them a head start in the culture that surrounds them so
that they can keep at a solid pace with us.

Green Light in The Great Gatsby Essay
The Green Light in The Great Gatsby
The image of the green light in the novel Great Gatsby, by F. Scott
Fitzgerald, is a significant symbol which reflects Gatsby s dream and other
aspects beyond Gatsby s longing. Throughout the novel Fitzgerald uses many
other images or symbols. At first, it may seem very basic, but when the
symbol is closely studied, one may see the deeper meaning found within it.
Fitzgerald uses these symbols to make a point across to the reader. He
then uses this point and converts it into a deeper meaning, into a myth
about America. The green light mentioned in the novel clearly represents
and is a prime example of this.

reader does know that Nick admires Gatsby for his dream which is some way
linked with the green light. The color green represents life, hope, and
youth. Gatsby s fantasy will live as long as long as he remains gazing at
the green light.
In chapter four of the novel, Nick finds out from Jordan that
Gatsby bought the house so that Daisy would be just across the bay. Nick
responds to this fact: Then it had not been merely the stars to which he
had aspired on that June night. He came alive to me, delivered suddenly
from the womb of his purposeless splendor.
Until this point, Gatsby was a puzzle. Nick, at this moment,
solves the puzzle: Gatsby s house and extravagant style of living is a
necessity to reaching and fulfilling his dream rather than a flamboyant
exhibit of wealth. The truth that Gatsby is yearning for Daisy is now
apparent. This is being symbolized by the green light at the end of the
dock.
Gatsby finally meets Daisy in Chapter five of the novel. The
symbol of the green light becomes very evident. It becomes so distinct
that Gatsby even shows Daisy the green light. He says, If it wasn t for
the mist we could see your home across the bay... You always have a green
light that burns all night at the end of your dock. Daisy is so

days where she will spend time with the son but it is often ended because the son
does something she does not like. The main theme of this short story is

primarily through the husbands continuous effort to help his wifein any way that he

Along with the use of repetition in the story, Godwin s use of characterization helps
further develop the overall theme of the story as well. Godwin presents several
examples of companionship which ends up saving the mother in the end. For
example, as far as one can interpret from the information given to us in this story, the
son accepts the fact that he can t always get to see his mother and be with her. One
can make this assumption because the husband would tell the wife that he and the
boy understood her current situation. The son not giving up on his mother and
understanding and respecting his mother s wishes when it came to her not wanting to
see him is important for the woman because she does things throughout the story
that lets the reader know that she still loves the boy and the father. At the very end
of the story boy says, She s tired from doing all our things again which shows the
reader that the son is aware that the mother has not been the mother she once was to
him. (Godwin, 42). The companionship between the father and son could be seen as
salvation because since the mother could not take care of the son as a mother
should, the father had to step into a large role and care for the son himself before
Comparison Between Fencing Jacket And Pant
There are only a few items that make up the uniform worn by fencers. One of these
parts is based upon the history of the sport, while the others are more for functional
protection. Here are the main parts of the fencing uniform and why they are
important. Fencing Jacket and Pants The largest item of the fencer s uniform is the
long sleeved white jacket. The jacket is long sleeved mostly for protection, but also
to reference the historical aspects of the sport. While in today s fencing world
competitors are permitted to adorn their white uniforms with assorted emblems, or
minor color variations, the real reason behind using the color white is actually
somewhat gruesome. In previous centuries, fencing was more than just a sport; it was

These pads are inside the two breast pockets on the front of the fencing jacket.
White Glove Only the saber hand of the fencer uses a glove. The off hand is kept
bare. This glove is also padded for protection, usually about halfway up the
forearm. Beginner fencers can use a glove that covers the entire arm, padded up to
just below the shoulder. Mask The fencing mask must be worn at all levels of
competition to protect the face and head of the fencer. It has a padded bib to
protect the throat and a wire mesh facemask to protect the face of the fencer. The
mesh is made of a rigid material that can withstand the force from an opponent s
saber. As with all the rest of the pieces of equipment, for more of a historical
purpose the fencing mask is also white. So, the equipment that composes a fencing
uniform is customarily white out of a dedicated reverence for fencing history, it is
the protective features that are most important. Luckily for today s competitive
fencers, the design and color of their uniform pieces is for protection and not to
show where they have been pierced by their archrival s saber with a design on

His segment on the New York Yankees is no different, as he uses a variety of

elitist the Yankees are when compared to other sports teams. Oliver s use of the

Disney Stock Has Outperformed The S P 500
Disney s stock has outperformed the S P 500 since 2009 and in 2013 they
generated revenues of 45 billion dollars. The company has continues to grow and

Disney has acquired the rights to Marvel, Pixar, and Playdom, which they believe
will help their brand grow. However, while focusing on developing other aspects of
their company I believe that they have lost track of what made Disney so successful
to begin with animated movies. My recommendation for Disney is put out more then

Teenage Girls
As a matter of fact, teenage girls are not the only ones who fall victim to the ideal
of beauty. Teenage boys are going through very similar situations. Media and
advertisements set their standards for men to be tall, muscular, board upper body,
v line and have beards etc. Neither males nor females live without having standards
set up for them by society and media. Widely held perceptions of beauty and
perfection can have a deep and lasting cultural impact on both women and men.
Some impact is that these standards will continue to exist in our future culture and
both genders will never feel comfortable in their own skin/body. Both men and
women would continue to judge themselves and their beauty. Magazines and
advertisements usually have images of men without their shirts in order to show
off their muscles and to attract customers. This makes members of society expect
to see a six pack,v line and pectorals when a male takes off their shirt. This gives
teenage boys fear to take off their shirt when going to the beach or smaller
situations like going inside a pool because they are scared to be criticized for not
being muscular. Magazines display images of these fake models for both men and
women which creates intimidation. Study of mass mediamagazines discovered that
women s magazines had 10.5 times more advertisements and articles promoting
weight lossthan men s magazines did (as cited in Guillen Barr.1944). The ideal of
beauty targets women more than men. In

A fundamental advantage of ECS adjustment for effective dynamic thermal storage
is that it is relatively easy to implement. Conventional air conditioning and
thermostats are designed to perform in slow control loops, on time scales of
minutes. ECS adjustment can use time scale separation and stay away from this
effective dc loop action. In this sense, an ac feed forward signal is injected into a
drive to adjust power flow on fast time scales, while avoiding interference on slow
time scales. The average performance of the ECS system remains intact, and the fast
adjustment is transparent to users. Fig. 2 displays this implementation control.

A few recent papers [53] [56] have demonstrated a virtual synchronous machine
(VSM) concept, particularly for microgrid applications and usually for distributed
generators utilizing the same ac dc ac conversion stages. The same concept
applied on flywheel based energy storage is discussed in [57]. Given the
similarities existed in the MEA power grid and motor controlled thermal storage, it
is deemed feasible to implement the VSM concept in this research. A high level
description is shown in Fig. 3. For a synchronous machine in the rotating reference
frame, the d q voltage and current relationship is shown in (1a b), where vg is the
grid voltage, R is the stator resistance, M is the magnetizing, and Ld = Lq = L is
assumed. On the other hand, the active front end (i.e., the hex bridge converter
connected to the gird) follows (2a b) in d q reference frame at П‰c rotating speed,
where Rg and Lg are grid tied resistance and inductance, and vc is the output
voltage at the converter controlled by modulation index from the dc voltage bus [].
The analogy between (1a b) and (2a b) is straightforward. By equating the first three
terms and varying the modulation indices, md and mq, the active front end mimics
the VSM proposed in [ZhongQC]. The purpose of the ac motor tied inverter (i.e., the

Heroin And Other Opiate Abuse
The purpose of this paper is to assess the issues that arise from heroin and other
opiate abuse, how the US government is combating it, and what effects these policies
have in Afghanistan, the world s supplier of opium.
Heroin was invented in the 1895. ( Opium Throughout History ) It was a new
concoction based on morphine, similar to the then popular laudanum, and was
initially meant to be used as a cheaper medical substitute at the time. Heroin was
never successfully brought into the medical fold, but was popular as a recreational
drug almost immediately. Opiates, in one form or another, have been used for
medical pain relief and recreationally since as early as 3400 BC. ( Opium throughout
History ) Throughout the history of opium, control, regulation, trade, and addiction
have been struggles for every society and civilization, starting with the Egyptians,
hitting the Romans, the Chinese, and the Portuguese on the way, and continues to be
a struggle in every modern society in the world. ( World Drug Report 2010 )
Throughout history the popularity of heroin has waxed and waned. Sometimes
heroin was practically a non issue, other times, heroin has been one of the biggest
struggles a society has faced. America today struggles with heroin like no other time
in its history, in part because of the effects of addiction at home, and in part because
of the significant profits it allows its handlers both at home and overseas.
Heroin was invented in 1895 by a
Wild Land Firefighting Essay
Every year in the U.S there are incidents that occurred dealing with fires in the forest.
This is when wild land firefighting comes in to action. Advancements in firefighting
have improved in the past such as improvement in technology in fighting fires,
equipment being used, and different preventions to take in action to help incidents
from becoming destructive and uncontrollable, and lastly knowing history because
we remember and learn from the experiences of the past. Wild land firefighting is a
rapidly spreading firethat acts very quickly and intensely. Captain Moses Harris
assumes the command of Yellowstone national parks first wild land fire fighters on
August 20, 1886. The cavalry remained for thirty two years in Yellowstone National
Park. The soldiers began fighting the fires throughout Yellowstone national park and
were also the first wild land fire fighters to get paid (1). In1910 the Big Blowup fire
in northeastern Washington, northern Idaho, and western Montana destroyed three
million acres of timber and killed over eighty firefighters. In 1911 Congress passed
the Weeks Act, which among alternative things, provided help for state forestry
organizations that participated in cooperative fire protection work with the federal
government. In 1935, Ferdinand Silcox, the Forest Service Chief, introduced the
10AM Policy, that became afresh universal U.S. Forest Service goal to manage a fire
by 10AM the morning following its recognizing. While the amount of forest
Essay on The Role of Youth in Politics
Cavins 1
Throughout the history of America young people have always played a crucial role
in politics. The famous writer Srirangam Srinivas wrote, Our country is not in the
hands of lazy and corrupted old politicians, this country is ours i.e. youth . Young
people between the ages 18 to 25 are the future of this country and its political
system. The young people of America have a responsibility to be involved with
politics and with their civic duties. The youth in America must be involved in
politics to ensure that America stays a country of freedom, and to combat the
corruption in politics, they must also be involved with their civic duties in order to
give back to their country and to leave a legacy of political and civic participation ...

When the founding fathers drafted the Constitution their main focus was creating
a nation where everyone would be free from the restraints of a controlling
government and treated equal. America has always been a nation of freedom, and
needs to remain that way. The youth in this country is charged with the task of
ensuring that America remains the land of the free . Without involvement in
politics this is not possible. If youth are to maintain the American ideals of
freedom and equality it is imperative that they be involved in politics. Voting every
four years for the president, who is more of a figure head than anything else, is
simply not enough. Young people need to take a more active role in politics such
as running for a political office, local or national. This is the only way they will be
able to put their beliefs into action and ensure that America upholds it s long
standing values of freedom and equality. The youth need to start taking action as
soon as they are old enough. However, young people need to be educated on
politics and be firm in their beliefs before delving into the world of politics. In recent
years the youth have shown a trend of disengagement and apathy toward political
involvement. According to The Good Citizen , a book written by Russell J. Dalton,
political analysts and politicians agree that the youth are losing interest in politics and

back to tell the tale. However it is the time that we live between life and death that
gives us our humanity, adventure and self worth. Roger Ebert and William
Shakespeare s Hamlet were both challenged by human trivials that led them to their
death but, as Hamlet drove himself insane, Roger Ebert and Amanda Ripley had a
different approach.

All is well. I am as I should be. (Jones, 18). When Ebert discovered his sickness he
accepted it and said to let him go gently into that good night. whereas others
generally do not have a positive outlook. Roger Ebert: The Essential Man by
Chris Jones by far best compels what it means to live a fulfilling life. He ends the
expert by saying I believe that if, at the end of it all, according to our abilities, we
have done something to make others a little happier, and something to make
ourselves a little happier, that is about the best we can do. To makes others less
happy is a crime. To make ourselves unhappy is where all crime starts. We must try
to contribute joy to the world. That is true no matter what our problems, our health,
our circumstances. We must try. I didn t always know this, and am happy I lived
long enough to find out (Jones, 34).
Ultimately, it depends on how a person perceives their life but it is essential to
achieve self happiness. Unfortunately it takes loosing a life to realize how much a
life s worth in the means of joy and a blissful life. The key to a happy heart is to start
with if not happy then positive thoughts. People are challenged by the theory,

Examples Of Transformation In Night By Elezer Wiesel
To alter is to change or to become different or modified. That is exactly what
happens to the character, Eliezer Wiesel, Elie for short. The book Night is an
autobiography by Elie. Night is about the struggles Elie and his father go through
after being transported to a concentration camp. Elie s love for his father is the only
reason he keeps going. Elie and his father have some ups and downs, but make it
through together. Over time he feels trapped and confined by the responsibility of
keeping his father alive. All throughout Night, Elie s relationship with his father is
transforming, throughout that process, Eliezer himself is transformed. As Elie s
family entered the concentration camp, the family was immediately separated. Men
to the left! Women to the right! Eight words spoken quietly, indifferently, without
emotion. Eight simple, short words... Yet that was the moment I left my mother...
There was no time to think and I already felt my father s hand pressed against mine:
we were alone... I kept walking, my father holding my hand. (Wiesel 29). Elie
briefly explains that one of the guards said the eight words with no heart. The prison
guard was heartless. When Elie says There was no time to think he didn t only mean
no time to comprehend the situation, but also no time to say goodbye to his mother
and three sisters. At the time, Elie did not know it, but his mother and little sister
would be heading straight for the crematorium. Elie innocently depended on his

The Importance Of Family In Lilo And Stitch
In the movie Lilo and Stitch from Disney there is a quote in there from when Lilo
says, Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten
Everyone deserves a family that loves them. Some families experience divorce and
don t have all the luxuries of a mother and father that live in the home. Kids that
bounce around from foster, home to foster home. And children that are put up and
adopted through the system. Each one of them deserves a family that loves them.
There has always been love in my family. Love for my kids ,and love for my wife.
Our home runs on it. Has it increased or improved over the last semester would be a
better question to ask.

1. David Nye is of the opinion that even if a new energy system is developed in the
USA the process of conversion would be gradual and this can be seen in the
evolution of the structure as well as the composition of the energy systems in the
USA over time. The history energyof America can be traced in six energy systems
from muscle power to an eclectic bricolage of many technologies and conservation
measures, coordinated by computer technologies (Nye, 253). The first one took
place during the pre Columbian period where the prime mover was the muscle
power and stayed relevant until 1920. New sources of energy were introduced by the
European colonialists that included water, the wind as well as domestic animals. ...

It was the dominant model that was responsible for delivering electricity to
consumers. The traditional utility business model was formed within the finance,
technology as well as regulation interplay. It emerged as a result of the pioneers of
industry such as Samuel Insull when they made a realization that technology was
able to allow power plants to become larger particularly through the use of steam
turbines. In addition to that, it allowed power plants to reach economies of scale that
had the effect of leading to the reduction of the unit cost of power. In addition to that
he together with others realized that they could sell electricity to diverse customers
and make money. The utility regulatory model works in such a way that technology
is employed in the production of electricity in large scale. The large production of
electricity sustains the large firms which consequently made it necessary for
financing mechanism through holding companies that have many investors and in
some instances low cost financing access. This consequently leads to regulation that
ensures that the various electric companies operated as monopolies consequently
avoiding capital resources waste in duplicate infrastructure together with stabilizing
the cost of capital through the reduction of risk and the provision of electricity
service that was affordable. The system shaped the development of the current
system as the current system was based on that model and some moderations were
made to it to produce the current system. There are various alternative models to the
traditional for profit utility regulatory system that include cooperatives and public
power systems. Whereas the traditional model was for profit, the alternative ones
are not for profit as they aim at providing affordable and reliable electricity
consumers at a reasonable price as well as protecting the
A Research Study On College Students
On a daily basis you are introduced to new people around you. The connections you
make with the people you meet are relationships. Relationships can vary from
person to person based on the type of connection you have with them. There are the
relationships with family, relationships with friends, and then the relationship with
a significant other. With sufficient amounts of research being done daily on all
aspects of relationships and how they work, there is a significant gap in the study
of college students and how they view the importance of a committed relationship.
With the appearance of this gap, I am doing my research in this field and on
college aged students. The key concept when developing this study is how serious
and committed relationships are built and treated among college students. This
study will examine the way males and females in college perceive the importance
of relationships and how they participate in the different variations and if these
variations change the way students look at relationships. Recent research barely
touched on relationship styles, especially in college age males and females. I would
like to know what males and females in their freshman and senior year in college are
looking for in an intimate type of relationship. The purpose of this study is to identify
how males opinions about serious committed relationships change from their
freshman year in college to their senior year in college and how females opinions
about serious committed
Cost And Quality Of Healthcare
Cost and Quality in Healthcare When it comes to improving healthcare, one must
be focused not only on quality but also on cost. The question is then raised: Will
higher cost result in higher quality care or will higher quality care help control
costs? It is no secret that healthcare is incredibly expensive in the United States.
Despite healthcare in the United States being 50 200% more expensive that in
other economically developed countries, life expectancy rates and quality indicator
scores are also lower (Burke Andrew, 2014). This paper will provide highlights of a
couple of current initiatives both in the private and public sectors that address cost
and quality of healthcare as well as implications for nurses regarding evidence based
practice relative to cost and quality. Cost and Quality in the Private Sector There has
been much progress to support better quality healthcare in recent years. Focus is
around the development of quality measures, thanks to private organizations such as
the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). The NCQA developed what
is called the patient centered medical home model. This is a model of care that
emphasizes care coordination and communication to transform primary care into
what patients want and need. The NCQA Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH)
Recognition is the most widely adopted model for transforming primary care
practices into medical homes (NCQA Patient Centered Medical Home, 2015).

Okonkwo s Death In Things Fall Apart
In the concluding moments of the novel, Things Fall Apart , by Chinua Achebe, the
main protagonist woefully ends his life. In any genre of novel, deaths of characters
can be used to help highlight the ideas of meaning that the author is trying to portray
to the reader. In Things Fall Apart , Achebe uses the death of Okonkwoto reveal what
overwhelming amounts of fear can do to someone. Throughout the book Okonkwo
shows how much his fear controls him man times. One example of where his fear
is shown is through his parenting. Okonkwo treated his son Nwoye very poorly. He
beat him, yelled at him, and terrorized him. He did this out of fear. The idea of
Nwoye becoming like Okonkwo s father, terrified Okonkwo. He was scared for his
reputation.
Commentary On Cyclone
Describe how you think you can make a difference on Cyclone I can positively
impact Cyclone for many reasons such as; keeping chat clean and friendly, giving
out unique ideas for the server to make the experience for players more enjoyable,
thrive to become a role model for the server and to make the network an all around
awesome server. One key difference I can give to Cyclone is my creativity, I can
think of really unique ideas to add to the server. This will not only make the
experience better for players but expand the community as a whole. As being a long
time player within the Cyclone community I am quite a well known player, I wantto
expand my role and become a friendly staff member who people can ask questions,
so I can guide them... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Have you ever been banned, kicked or muted? No I have never been banned from
cyclone neither kicked. The only problem is I might have been muted in V1/V2 but I
cannot remember why, But towards half way through V2 till now no I have never
been banned/muted/kicked. This is important as I understand the rules of the
community and know what is right and wrong.
6. Do you have TS or a microphone? I prefer to stay away from TeamSpeak as I don t
really enjoy it but I do however have skype with I am on a lot so I can talk with staff
on their. Also yes I do have a microphone.
7. How active are you on cyclone? In V3 I was on for at least 3 to 4 hours a day
helping the community as player. The only reason I became less inactive was
because the server I loved (prisons) started to become less active which drove me
away from the server. However as the server is resetting and I personally know that
Dwiz has out 100% effort towards V4 I will be a lot more active, helping and
guiding players within the community. I realise you need to be an active staff
member to help the drive the community into the right direction. If I become a
helper on Cyclone I will only positivity towards the network and be giving the
community my all! I feel as I want to give back to the staff team for being such
amazing people helping me as a player to grow and now I want to give back and
join them on their journey to make Cyclone one of the best

A. Sentinel Event
This sentinel event involves child abduction from the surgical unit of Nightingale
Community Hospital on Thursday, September 14, 2014 at approximately 1230hrs.
The patient, a three year old female, arrived accompanied by her mother, for an
outpatient surgical procedure at 0800hrs and proceeded to registration where all
currently required documentation was completed and signed by the mother; this
included the authorization forms for the surgery. After registration, the patient and her

involved in the events leading up to the sentinel event. The surgeon was
responsible for all activities taking place in the surgical suite and directly related to
the surgery of the pediatric patient. The surgery was completed safely and
successfully; however, the surgeon had relevant information in the patient chart at
his office yet did not share this information with the hospital. He also did not supply
an appropriate or accurate H amp;P that would have included custodial status for the
pediatric patient to the hospital. The surgeon is greatly concerned in the events that
lead to the sentinel event and wants to ensure that his patients will be cared for and
safe at Nightingale Community Hospital. 4) O.R. Nurse: Was directly involved in
the events leading up to the sentinel event. The O.R. nurse is responsible for
assisting the surgeon in the surgical suite and providing continuity of care
throughout the surgical procedure from pre op to post op. The surgery was
completed safely and successfully and the patient was handed over to PACU for
recovery appropriately; however, the O.R. nurse did not verify that all relevant

The Holy Spirit Of The Trinity
The Holy Spirit is one of the persons in the Trinity. The Holy Spirit lives in my soul
because I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I think the Holy Spirit is an
influence, energy and a person. He connects me with God in my relationship with
Him. I believe the Holy Spirit helps direct my thoughts and actions to be glorifying to
God. Even though there are many verses about the Holy Spirit, I enjoy and meditate
on the verse found in 2 Timothy 1:7, For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but
of power and of love and of a sound mind. Also when I sin, the conviction I feel
confirms the presence of the Holy Spirit that is within me.
2. Give proofs for the personality of the Holy Spirit.
There are many proofs for the personality of the Holy Spirit. He has qualities and
actions that a person has or does. He has a mind (Rom. 8:27) that exudes
intelligence, expresses feelings (Eph. 4:30), and reveals His will. He can speak
and show the truth to us the same way a person could because He is a person. He is
relatable just like any other person. Evidence of these actions are found with the
apostles (Acts 15:28), with Jesus (John 16:14), to each Person in the Trinity (Matthew
28:19), and to Himself (Luke 4:14).
3.How do we know the Holy Spirit is God?
The proofs that confirm the Holy Spirit is God are found in His divine names,
divine attributes, divine actions, and divine Godhead association. He is named by
God and Jesus in multiple passages such as Acts 16:7 and 1
Ligation Analysis Lab
Background Amplified luxAB genes of isolated chromosomal DNA from Vibrio
fischeri bacteria were ligated into digested pGEM [1]. The cut pGEM contained a
stuffer a small fragment of DNA positioned between the EcoR1 and Xba1
restriction sites and located within the polylinker region of the plasmid [1]. The
stuffer fragment could potentially re ligate back into the plasmid instead of the
desired insert, namely the digested PCR product with luxAB genes [1]. Ligation
reactions varied in two ways: via insert to plasmid ratios (either 1:1 or 2:1) and via
the inclusion or exclusion of the stuffer fragment within pGEM [1]. The purpose of
this experiment is to assess the effects of varying ligation parameters on the success
of cloning luxAB genes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

be 24.3% for L1, 38.8% for L2, 81.9% for L3, and 82.6% for L4 (Table 1, Figure 1).
These values were created via estimating or manually counting colony numbers on
each plate. The median percentages from the section data set were determined to
be 26.3% for L1, 28.5% for L2, 86.5% for L3, and 89.0% for L4 (Table 1). The
standard deviation percentages from the section data set were determined to be

By visual observation, the positive control plate solely contained untransformed
colonies (i.e. all blue), and the negative control plate contained no colonies at all
(data not shown). According to the ANOVA with Tukey post hoc test performed on
the section data sets, significant statistical differences (p 0.01) were seen between

The Logic Of Stupid Poor People, And Andrew Corsello s...
When a threat strikes A threat is something that will bring danger, damage, or pain
to the person it is directed to. Everyone deals with threats in many different ways.
Many people will encounter many types of threat over the course of their life.
Some may be urgent, immediate, and violent. Other threats are non immediate, but
can still be harmful. Evaluate the decision and figure out what you need to do to
keep yourself safe. Always evaluate the circumstances. Act quickly, calmly,
rationally, and think about the consequences in the long run. In Tressie McMillan
s The Logic of Stupid Poor People , and Andrew Corsello s The Other Side of hate ,
both of the main characters were exposed to a threat. McMillan changed people s
views on the threats of society, while Corsello was facing a threat of his own that
will have an indelible imprint on his life. In Tressie McMillan s The Logic of
Stupid Poor People , it changed people s views on the threat of keeping up with
society, and the status symbol people think they must maintain. Society classifies it
as Middle class, suburbs, or simply rich and poor. People feel threatened when
someone looks better than them, or has something that they do not have. This story
killed all reasons to even feel this way. McMillan also linked this story back to her
own personal childhood. Their family was a classic black American migration family,
with rural Southern roots. During this time most African Americans were considered
as poor. Her family

  • 2. The Slap Short Story Written by Steven Millhauser, The Slap is a highly detailed short story that showcases the theme of how fear can debilitate a town. The story is centered on a man who goes around slapping people once and then walks away without a trace. Each victim gives a detailed testimony to the reader throughout the story until the slapping comes to an end. The town is very distraught over these incidents because it is a violation of their security and safety. The slap is not so much a physical attackas it is a mental attack. The town as a whole is affected by the fear of being slapped and gives into that fear by no longer wearing trench coats, making sure their houses are secure more than before and by parents walking their kids to school and picking them up. At the beginning of the story, the town is described as a safe community with nice houses and a wealthy demographic. There are five bedroom homes, a private beach, horse riding academy and yacht club. The city is to the east where the people go to work every day. This is where the first victimis assaulted. This victim is Robert Lasher. He is assaulted while walking to his car after work. The man who slapped him was wearing a neatly polished trench coat and looked as if was on the wealthier side. As a wealthy man, it was the trend to wear a trench coat at the time, so it is no surprise that when later on in the story Lasher sees a man walk towards him wearing the jacket he attacks first. Turns out the man in the coat was mistaken
  • 3. Word Finding Deficits In Adults With Aphasia Word Finding Deficits in Adults with Aphasia I.Introduction on Adults with Aphasia Aphasia is communication disorder that impairs a person language as a result of brain damage (WebMD Medical, 2014). The disorder impacts a person receptive and expressive communication abilities as well as reading and written language. Aphasia makes it difficult for people to communicate effectively with others that can lead to misunderstanding their needs or wants. Brain damage can result from a stroke, head injury, brain tumor, an infection or dementia. There are several types of aphasia in which each type of impairment are classified into two general categories of fluent aphasia and non fluent aphasia. Fluent aphasia demonstrates a person s ability... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The results show that there were little phonemic paraphasias in the therapy treatment compared to the baseline phase. A similar decrease was evident in the client s dysfluent hesitations, and rates of all other errors such as formal paraphasias and semantic paraphasias were lower during the therapy session (Fisher, Wilshire, Ponsford, 2009). Word discrimination therapy demonstrated that gains were significantly faster for the words that were trained within phonologically related triplets compared to those trained in unrelated triplet sets. Following the therapy session, the client was reassessed during the maintenance testing after three months of post therapy. The outcome indicated that the therapy gains were well maintained over time for both related and unrelated sets. The examination of error types showed that phonemic paraphasias, dysfluent hesitations, formal paraphasias, and semantic paraphasias remained well below when observed during baseline testing in both related and unrelated items during the treatment phases (Fisher, Wilshire, Ponsford,
  • 4. Int1 Task 3 Essay example 11/2011 INT1 Task 3 Does freezing popcorn yield more popcorn? Project Design Plan. This scientific experiment is to gauge the amount of kernels popped when the storage temperatures of the kernels are changed. Does freezing popcorn kernels for 24 hours yield more or less popped kernels than popcorn kernels stored at room temperature? By performing this experiment we can decide how to maximize our food potential. We will purchase six identical brands of popcorn from the local food store that have the same ingredients, weight and brand name. We will take three of the bags of popcorn kernels and store it in a standard household freezer for twenty four hours. The temperature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Keep in mind that you must enter the amount of time on your microwave that you chose from your time testing trial. Do not use the popcorn button that is standard on most microwaves. It is important to test the time with one frozen and one shelf stored popcorn package. This will allow us to record the exact time needed to perform our test on the remaining bags of popcorn. 7. Now perform two trials of test with one bag of frozen popcorn kernels and one bag of room temperature popcorn. It is important to record the data off of each trial separately. 8. When finished recording your numbers from the two trail experiments take the average of each trial and compare the final results. Reasoning of this design. The brand of popcorn testing has proven to be inconsistent. Each major brand of popcorn claims to have the highest amount of popped kernels. We chose this method of experiment because we can control the variables of the experiment. By controlling the temperature we can determine which method will yield the most amount of popcorn instead of relying on which brand claims to have the most yield of popcorn or studies on brands. This experiment can be used on all brands as long as the brand name stays the same. Sequence of Events. Take each bag of popped popcorn and count the individual kernels that did not pop and record the data on the chart. Perform this for each
  • 5. Bildungsroman Is Defined As A Novel Of The Novel And ... Bildungsroman is defined as: a novel of formation or novel of education. The subject of this novel is the development of the protagonist s mind and character, in the passage from childhood through varied experiences and often through a spiritual crisis into maturity, which usually involves recognition of one s identity and role in the world (M.H. Abrams, A Glossary of Literary Terms). Lewis Carroll s Alice in Wonderland and Maurice Sendak s Where the Wild Things Are use this literary device through their main characters, Alice, and Max, as they grow either physically or mentally throughout their journeys. Alice and Max experience change that modifies their perspectives of the worlds they must navigate. Through the constant physical changes Alice encounters with her adventures in Wonderland, she learns to cherish her fleeting childhood and innocence. By undertaking an authority position in the land of the Wild Things, Max experiences mental growth and learns to appreciate the weight of adulthood. Alice begins the novel as a naГЇve child, who struggles with adjusting to new situations and the nonsense of Wonderland. She struggles with the continuous growth and changes of her body. Alice goes through various physical changes during her time in Wonderland that makes her uncomfortable. This continuous growth is similar to a child going through the awkward physical changes of puberty. Per the Department of Pediatrics, University of California, School of Medicine and Davis,
  • 6. Photorealism In Manet s A Bar At The Folies-Bergere Photorealism is a term that characterizes the artists whose work depends heavily on photographs and mixes together the real and the unreal. For example, Manet s A Bar at the Folies BergГЁre utilizes photorealism to depict a scene from modern Parisian life: a young barmaid stands behind the bar of a bustling night club, confronting the viewer with a worn out, emotionless expression and seemingly awaiting her patron s order or request. The painting plays with our sense of reality by showing a strange man and the misaligned reflections of the barmaid and the champagne bottles in a mirror. Likewise, in Picture for Women, Jeff Wall emulates the internal structure of Manet s painting and incorporates elements such as the light bulbs and and poles to give the imagespatial depth. This photograph shows a reflection in the mirror of a sparse studio room split into three panels with a woman on the left, a camera framed by a window in the center, and a man walking on the right. Both images utilize reflection to breach the limits of the naked eye s perspective and evoke a sense of mystery and ambiguity. This paper will argue that in Picture for Women and Bar at the Folies Bergere, Jeff Wall and Manet utilize female protagonists and the motif of the mirror to examine spectatorship and movement in still art and challenge our traditional sense of reality and the concept of the male gaze. In both Manet s Bar and Wall s Picture for Women, the mirror challenges our common sense perceptions
  • 7. Analysis Of The Book The Night CHAPTER TWENTY SIX Dungeons, Smoke, and Mirrors The king s hands shook as he gripped the arms of his gilded chair. Set that monster there! he shouted with such rage, the entire castle trembled. The gruesome goblin shuffled over and plopped down on a wooden tripod stool in the center of the dungeon floor. Argos came over and had to stoop so he didn t scrape his huge head on the sloped ceiling. He squatted behind Gordok, wrapped chains around his wrists and ankles, then melted into the dark shadows again. For a few moments, I stared at the monster and started to kind of choke up, thinking about all we had gone through to capture him. I was still lost in thought when Emma skipped down the stairs, smiling at me. She took a few steps, then screeched loud enough to vibrate the cobwebs that were stretched across the corners of the room. Eeew, yuck. She pointed to Gordok who was still in a stupor. That monster stinks like rotten fish. Wow! I ll talk to you later, she said and marched out of the dungeon and up the stairs. King Zander sighed. You have my things Aiden? Oh . . . Sorry. I almost forgot. Here, I handed him the golden key. He set it on top of a small box with an inscription written in silver and it vanished. Then I gave him the wand and he pointed it at the goblin and shouted Awake! Gordok opened his eyes and gave me a wick sneer. You are here before me, the king said, looking down upon the goblin in disgust, so that I may dispatch righteous
  • 8. Languages Of Sex And Theoretical Perspectives This weeks readings were The Languages of Sex by Jeffrey Weeks and Theoretical Perspectives by Steven Seidman. Both readings and in class discussion brought up some really interesting points. Tuesday we had an interesting in class discussion on the idea of if we were to travel to a culture where ankles were sexualized rather than say breasts. How we become aware that some body parts are sexualized. This discussion was so interesting because it became aware how weird it is that our society has certain body parts that are sexualized. This carried on into Thursday s discussion about how both authors touched on the increased emphases that humans have a natural drive or need for sex and what happens when he described sex has a natural desire.
  • 9. Sn1 Reaction Lab Report SN1 reactions only occur with certain reagents under very specific conditions. These reactions have an intermediate and occur in two distinct steps. The first step is the formation of the carbocation once the leaving group departs from the molecule. The type of leaving group is vital in determining if an SN1 reactionwill occur. In general, the efficiency of the leaving group increases as the size of the halide ion increases. However, p Toluensulfonate is the most effective and reactive leaving group. As this step forms a carbocation, it is important to note that the type of carbocation that will form. SN1 reactions will not occur if the intermediate is not stable. Therefore, the degree of substitution of the leaving group, and consequently the carbocation, is vital. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Correspondingly, primary alkyl halides are the least likely to react. Additionally, the solvent has the ability to stabilize the carbocation. A polar protic solvent is favored as it will form hydrogen bonds to further stabilize the carbocation intermediate. Overall, SN1 reactions are widely dependent on the formation of a stable carbocation intermediate. Since SN1 reactions are dependent on the formation of the carbocation, and that step occurs separately from the nucleophilic addition, the rate of the reaction is not typically affected by the nature or concentration of the nucleophile. The mechanism of an SN1 reaction is consistent. First, the leaving group leaves forming the carbocation. The intermediate carbocation is planar and achiral. The nucleophile is then free to attack from either side of the carbocation, which forms the substituted product in either a racemic mixture or with some form of
  • 10. Fieldwork Definition Fieldwork findings: Discussion Pupil premium: One core theme that derives from the fieldwork frequently is pupil premium. All respondents were asked, which policy if any, would you say has been the most effective at promoting educational attainment among pupils from economically deprived areas? (Question 4). All respondents answered pupil premium as being the most effective policy. Respondents A, B and D all argued that the extra funding helped to promote education attainment among pupils from economically deprived backgrounds through more staff, additional facilities and funds for students. The data drawn from table 4.2 supports earlier literature on pupil premium. As previously stated, this extra funding ensures that schools with deprived pupils enroled have enough resources as tools to succeed in education. Relating back to Table 4.2, respondents A and D both state funding for staff, this is further supported by Carpenter et al (2013) who argue that the policy contributes highly to additional staff and teachers have perceived this to be very effective. This is particularly relevant to aim 3, on the outcomes of policy as additional staff contribute to promoting educational attainment because it offers deprived pupils with additional support and guidance. External factors such as communities and cultural capital are shown as key in attainment and are recognised. But, this research is concerned with what goes on inside schools. Thereby, internal factors should not be undermined by external factors. Schools matter and focus are given to policies directed at schools. The pupil premium, academies and Teach First have been praised for their effectiveness in helping schools to better pupil learning and promote attainment, through additional staff and facilities and well qualified
  • 11. Grand Canyon National Park, New York City, and the... Grand Canyon National Park Short Report The Grand Canyon is one of the most amazing natural wonders in the world. It was originally deposited sediment that was lithofied, and turned into sedimentary rock. The rock was then carved out by hydraulic processes (Warneke). These processes, all combined, took almost three to six million years to form the Grand Canyon. Continued erosion by wind and rain in the present time continues to shift what the canyon looks like, and make it different as time goes on ( Grand Canyon Facts ). This seemingly boring process came to fruition in one of the most beloved National Parks in the United States of America. The Grand Canyon National Park is located in the state of Arizona. It is over 270 miles long and, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although it was a National Park it was still not frequently visited, and only had, approximately, 44,173 visitors a year, the first year it opened. Now it has over five million visitors every single year. However, if it had not been for the Civilian Conservation Corps, the park might not be in the condition it is today. In 1933, Franklin Delano Roosevelt created the Civilian Conservation Corps as a part of his New Deal (Audretsch). On May 19, 1933 the first Civilian Conservation Corps Company, Company 819 arrived in the Grand Canyon. They did many things for the park, including building stone walls alongside the rim of the canyon (to protect places such as El Tovar Hotel and Bright Angel Lodge). In addition they worked to improve the Bright Angel Trail, and worked to landscape the Grand Canyon Village (Audretsch). It is because of their hard work that the Community Building at the Grand Canyon exists today. New York CityShort Report New York City is the largest city in the United States of America. It has a population of over eight million people (NYC.gov). However, New York City has not always been this big. It started out undiscovered and untouched by Europeans. The first natives of New York City were the Lenape and Algonquin people. (History.com Staff) These two native groups worked the land between the Hudson and Delaware rivers for their food by farming and fishing (History.com Staff). However, at the beginning of
  • 12. Music And The Heart Summary In the article Music and the heart, authors Stefan Koelsch and Lutz JГ¤ncke go over a series of studies to show the effects of music on the heart. They start off talking about how music is a powerful stimulus for inflicting moods and emotions and also has an impact on heart activity. They go on to talk about how the results of studies on the effect of musicon the heart and emotions have often been inconsistent. Mainly, the inconsistencies are due to the use of different methods and musical stimuli. Music has a large variety of genres and styles and many of the studies do not include the specific types of music used in their studies. Bateman makes a living as a young, wealthy executive who works on Wall Street. He lives life by dining at voguish restaurants, while managing appearances for his fiancГ©e. His social group tends to consist of associates with the same occupation as his him and his wellbeing. What his associates and no one else knows about him is his hidden life as a serial killer. Bateman displays many cultural functions during the terrifying film. Being wealthy and working on Wall Street induces the feeling of being unassailable. Bateman s killings were perpetrated due to enviousness and embarrassment. He murdered numerous people in gruesome acts. These murders made visible the actions of the male gender whenever they are frustrated. No matter how many times King Arthur killed the ogre of Mount Saint Michael, the monster reappeared in another heroic chronicle, bequeathing the Middle Ages an abundance of morte d Arthurs (Cohen 106). Make certain that the first row of the wood is as straight as it can be. The reason is because everything that you lay after this point will be based on the straight roll of wood. A straight beginning wood will make your future rolls to be very tidy looking. On the other hand, if the wood is clumsily laid it will impact the remainder of your hardwood.5. Many tactics and strategies helped develop much improved version of an attacking artifact, like weapons and sieging machinery. The knights of Medieval England which were the cavalry, improved as the years went by, but never actually had any tactics or strategies. The usual knight would just go out there and fight. The knights were the counter offensive against a small siege, but they were ineffective against a large siege of a castle. A siege was very essential for medieval warfare. Pavises or Mantlets were shields that bowmen or archers took around. The purpose of these shields was to deflect crossbow bolts and arrows, so that the archer could have total protection to fire. These shields; were constructed out of wood, and had a slit through the middle allowing the archer to shoot through the slit and begin picking off the enemy. These were used in the battlefield or upon sieging a castle. They were most effectively used in the battlefield, because they can find a good spot and start shooting at soldiers. The Siege of a Castle was a guarantied victory, but it took a long time of patience. Patience was the key to victory with this strategy, however it was scarce in the battlefield, because of the angry, impatient soldiers waiting to get home to their families. The city walls were suppose to be fortifying a position that could not be easily overrun, and that it could be strong enough to enable the defense to maintain that position for a long period of time. Siege of a fort, castle, or city walls had four basic concepts. The Sieging technique was directly directed towards these four. In order for the attackers to get inside they would have to go over the wall, tear a passage through the wall, dig a tunnel underneath it, or just wait until the defenders surrendered. Going over the wall meant constructing a tower that was moved with the help of wheels, this
  • 17. Implicit Bias Analysis Implicit Biases in Reader Response Reading Jane Austen has never appealed to me. The combination of dated prose, a general aversion to plots I deemed to be too romantic , and my viewing of the film adaptations were enough to keep me away from her novels. When I was asked to read Persuasion for a class, I was hesitant and unwilling to fully engage with the material. This prevented me from enjoying the book fully. I didn t quite know what was holding me back from enjoying the book, but I knew that it was something more than my explicit biases against Austen. After a little reflection, I realized that my implicit biases were shaping my reading of Austen. My implicit bias against a novel and author that I perceived as overly feminine was coloring how I was interacting with and what messages I was taking from Persuasion (Austen). Implicit biases are the unconscious attitudes that shape our thoughts, actions, and beliefs (Banaji and Greenwald 46; Staats et al. 10; Schneider 169).Their impact is important to study because implicit biases shape our responses to situations. Reader response theory examines how a reader responds to a given text. Theorists such as Jauss and Eco include concepts that implicit bias can and should be built into. Jauss horizons examine how our experiences, expectations, culture, and place in time shape how we react and create meaning. Though implicit bias is not noted in Jauss formulation of the horizon, it should be considered as it shapes our

Though there are many problems that happen that involve guns, it is not the guns themselves causing these problems; it s the people that are behind them. New regulations have been created in order to enforce manufacturers to make automobiles that cause less of an impact. These regulations resulted in an increased price for the manufacturers and the consumers. The strict standards have resulted in higher priced automobiles than one would expect (Furth, 2016). With the enhancements made in technology, one would expect the price of automobiles to decrease, yet this is not the case due to the impact of the regulations. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that automobiles made after 2009 will have a higher price than previous automobiles because of the new regulations that were put in place (Furth, 2016). However, this belief has led to conflicts between academic critics and the EPA (Furth, 2016). Further research is required to determine if the higher costs of automobiles is solely caused by the regulations that are being imposed or if there is another cause. Either way, the price of automobiles has increased in the last several years and this can be problematic for any company in the automobileindustry, but especially for newer competitors like Tesla. This way they both have an understanding of each other s values and could be able to recognize when value imposition is occurring. If value conflicts are occurring during therapy it would be a good idea to refer the client to someone who can better understand where the client is coming from. If referral is the only way, then perhaps the counselor should explore their values and involvement in therapy. Along with values is one s religious and spiritual beliefs. Corey et al. In the original arch, various rectangle shaped bricks were haphazardly stacked on each other with hopes of at most supporting a small room. However, the redesigned arch used precisely measured polyhedrons and trapezoidal prisms in a specific way to support each other. This developed arch led to the creation of larger builders, aqueducts, and tunnels. Many empires proceeding the Romans adapted this design to fit their specific and different needs, and arches are still used today. Therefore, using basic geometric shapes, the people in the Roman Empirerevolutionized the arch forever. The Roman Empire did not create the arch in 23 CE (Ambler). However, they adapted it from a weak arch that could barely support a small building. Before the Roman Empire, the original arch design was corbeled with congruent rectangular prisms. A corbeled arch is an arch where stones are laid so they move toward the center as they move higher (Ambler). This includes his segment on the New York Yankees , where he makes it very clear which position he is taking on the issue. This segment dives into the elitist practices of the Yankees organization, which include not allowing fans to print out tickets at home and opening the elite Legends Club with expensive premium seats. When compared to the negative audience response toward Lonn Trost, the response toward John Oliver s offer is extremely positive, and resonates with the audience as a result. In order to make Oliver s use of pathos effective is to have effective uses of logos and ethos. However, Oliver relies more on logos than ethos in this segment. In each of his shows, Oliver backs up his claims by showing studies and news stories relating back to his argument. His segment on the New York Yankees is no different, as he uses a variety of different sources. For example, when explaining the Yankees elitist policies, Oliver shows a commercial for the New York Yankees Legends Club, which is for wealthy season ticket holders. By using this source, he backs up his claim on how elitist the Yankees are when compared to other sports teams. Oliver s use of the three artistic proofs was overall very effective and funny, which is especially important towards his audience. The show s media spectrum falls mainly on the Internet, where about 94% of Oliver s demographic watches his show, while the audience s top interests are entertainment, media, famous people and societal issues. When looking at audience demographics, John Oliver is generally doing an excellent job of using an argument to persuade his

The company has continues to grow and over the last 5 10 years have aggressively been pursuing a diversification strategy. Disney has acquired the rights to Marvel, Pixar, and Playdom, which they believe will help their brand grow. However, while focusing on developing other aspects of their company I believe that they have lost track of what made Disney so successful to begin with animated movies. My recommendation for Disney is put out more then two animated movies per year, because if these movies are successful it will over them more opportunities to diversify then any other acquisition. Disney Situational Analysis The Walt DisneyWorld Corporation has been one of the strongest businesses in America since the 1930 s. For example if Disney makes a hit movie that grosses over a billion dollars worldwide, they could potentially make a video game off the same movie. • 41. Teenage Girls As a matter of fact, teenage girls are not the only ones who fall victim to the ideal of beauty. Teenage boys are going through very similar situations. Media and advertisements set their standards for men to be tall, muscular, board upper body, v line and have beards etc. Neither males nor females live without having standards set up for them by society and media. Widely held perceptions of beauty and perfection can have a deep and lasting cultural impact on both women and men. Some impact is that these standards will continue to exist in our future culture and both genders will never feel comfortable in their own skin/body. Both men and women would continue to judge themselves and their beauty. Magazines and advertisements usually have images of men without their shirts in order to show off their muscles and to attract customers. This makes members of society expect to see a six pack,v line and pectorals when a male takes off their shirt. This gives teenage boys fear to take off their shirt when going to the beach or smaller situations like going inside a pool because they are scared to be criticized for not being muscular. Magazines display images of these fake models for both men and women which creates intimidation. Study of mass mediamagazines discovered that women s magazines had 10.5 times more advertisements and articles promoting weight lossthan men s magazines did (as cited in Guillen Barr.1944). The ideal of beauty targets women more than men. In
  • 42. A Fundamental Advantage Of Ecs Adjustment For Effective... A fundamental advantage of ECS adjustment for effective dynamic thermal storage is that it is relatively easy to implement. Conventional air conditioning and thermostats are designed to perform in slow control loops, on time scales of minutes. ECS adjustment can use time scale separation and stay away from this effective dc loop action. In this sense, an ac feed forward signal is injected into a drive to adjust power flow on fast time scales, while avoiding interference on slow time scales. The average performance of the ECS system remains intact, and the fast adjustment is transparent to users. Fig. 2 displays this implementation control. A few recent papers [53] [56] have demonstrated a virtual synchronous machine (VSM) concept, particularly for microgrid applications and usually for distributed generators utilizing the same ac dc ac conversion stages. The same concept applied on flywheel based energy storage is discussed in [57]. Given the similarities existed in the MEA power grid and motor controlled thermal storage, it is deemed feasible to implement the VSM concept in this research. A high level description is shown in Fig. 3. For a synchronous machine in the rotating reference frame, the d q voltage and current relationship is shown in (1a b), where vg is the grid voltage, R is the stator resistance, M is the magnetizing, and Ld = Lq = L is assumed. On the other hand, the active front end (i.e., the hex bridge converter connected to the gird) follows (2a b) in d q reference frame at П‰c rotating speed, where Rg and Lg are grid tied resistance and inductance, and vc is the output voltage at the converter controlled by modulation index from the dc voltage bus []. The analogy between (1a b) and (2a b) is straightforward. By equating the first three terms and varying the modulation indices, md and mq, the active front end mimics the VSM proposed in [ZhongQC]. The purpose of the ac motor tied inverter (i.e., the left hex bridge converter in Fig. 3) is to main a constant 270 V dc bus by adjusting the motor speed and torque using conventional vector controls. Heroin And Other Opiate Abuse The purpose of this paper is to assess the issues that arise from heroin and other opiate abuse, how the US government is combating it, and what effects these policies have in Afghanistan, the world s supplier of opium. Heroin was invented in the 1895. ( Opium Throughout History ) It was a new concoction based on morphine, similar to the then popular laudanum, and was initially meant to be used as a cheaper medical substitute at the time. Heroin was never successfully brought into the medical fold, but was popular as a recreational drug almost immediately. Opiates, in one form or another, have been used for medical pain relief and recreationally since as early as 3400 BC. ( World Drug Report 2010 ) Throughout history the popularity of heroin has waxed and waned. Sometimes heroin was practically a non issue, other times, heroin has been one of the biggest struggles a society has faced. America today struggles with heroin like no other time in its history, in part because of the effects of addiction at home, and in part because of the significant profits it allows its handlers both at home and overseas. The famous writer Srirangam Srinivas wrote, Our country is not in the hands of lazy and corrupted old politicians, this country is ours i.e. youth . Young people between the ages 18 to 25 are the future of this country and its political system. The young people of America have a responsibility to be involved with politics and with their civic duties. The youth in America must be involved in politics to ensure that America stays a country of freedom, and to combat the corruption in politics, they must also be involved with their civic duties in order to give back to their country and to leave a legacy of political and civic participation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the founding fathers drafted the Constitution their main focus was creating a nation where everyone would be free from the restraints of a controlling government and treated equal. America has always been a nation of freedom, and needs to remain that way. The youth in this country is charged with the task of ensuring that America remains the land of the free . Without involvement in politics this is not possible. If youth are to maintain the American ideals of freedom and equality it is imperative that they be involved in politics. Voting every four years for the president, who is more of a figure head than anything else, is simply not enough. Young people need to take a more active role in politics such as running for a political office, local or national. This is the only way they will be able to put their beliefs into action and ensure that America upholds it s long standing values of freedom and equality. The youth need to start taking action as soon as they are old enough. However, young people need to be educated on politics and be firm in their beliefs before delving into the world of politics. In recent years the youth have shown a trend of disengagement and apathy toward political involvement. According to The Good Citizen , a book written by Russell J. Dalton, political analysts and politicians agree that the youth are losing interest in politics and

Eight simple, short words... Yet that was the moment I left my mother... There was no time to think and I already felt my father s hand pressed against mine: we were alone... I kept walking, my father holding my hand. (Wiesel 29). Elie briefly explains that one of the guards said the eight words with no heart. The prison guard was heartless. It was the dominant model that was responsible for delivering electricity to consumers. The traditional utility business model was formed within the finance, technology as well as regulation interplay. It emerged as a result of the pioneers of industry such as Samuel Insull when they made a realization that technology was able to allow power plants to become larger particularly through the use of steam turbines. In addition to that, it allowed power plants to reach economies of scale that had the effect of leading to the reduction of the unit cost of power. In addition to that he together with others realized that they could sell electricity to diverse customers and make money. The utility regulatory model works in such a way that technology is employed in the production of electricity in large scale. The large production of electricity sustains the large firms which consequently made it necessary for financing mechanism through holding companies that have many investors and in some instances low cost financing access. This consequently leads to regulation that ensures that the various electric companies operated as monopolies consequently avoiding capital resources waste in duplicate infrastructure together with stabilizing the cost of capital through the reduction of risk and the provision of electricity service that was affordable. The system shaped the development of the current system as the current system was based on that model and some moderations were made to it to produce the current system. There are various alternative models to the traditional for profit utility regulatory system that include cooperatives and public power systems. Whereas the traditional model was for profit, the alternative ones are not for profit as they aim at providing affordable and reliable electricity consumers at a reasonable price as well as protecting the

The question is then raised: Will higher cost result in higher quality care or will higher quality care help control costs? It is no secret that healthcare is incredibly expensive in the United States. Despite healthcare in the United States being 50 200% more expensive that in other economically developed countries, life expectancy rates and quality indicator scores are also lower (Burke Andrew, 2014). This paper will provide highlights of a couple of current initiatives both in the private and public sectors that address cost and quality of healthcare as well as implications for nurses regarding evidence based practice relative to cost and quality. Cost and Quality in the Private Sector There has been much progress to support better quality healthcare in recent years. Focus is around the development of quality measures, thanks to private organizations such as the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). The NCQA developed what is called the patient centered medical home model. This is a model of care that emphasizes care coordination and communication to transform primary care into what patients want and need. The NCQA Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Recognition is the most widely adopted model for transforming primary care practices into medical homes (NCQA Patient Centered Medical Home, 2015). I think the Holy Spirit is an influence, energy and a person. He connects me with God in my relationship with Him. I believe the Holy Spirit helps direct my thoughts and actions to be glorifying to God. Even though there are many verses about the Holy Spirit, I enjoy and meditate on the verse found in 2 Timothy 1:7, For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Also when I sin, the conviction I feel confirms the presence of the Holy Spirit that is within me. 2. Give proofs for the personality of the Holy Spirit. There are many proofs for the personality of the Holy Spirit. He has qualities and actions that a person has or does. He has a mind (Rom. 8:27) that exudes intelligence, expresses feelings (Eph. 4:30), and reveals His will. He can speak and show the truth to us the same way a person could because He is a person. He is relatable just like any other person. Evidence of these actions are found with the apostles (Acts 15:28), with Jesus (John 16:14), to each Person in the Trinity (Matthew 28:19), and to Himself (Luke 4:14). 3.How do we know the Holy Spirit is God? Other threats are non immediate, but can still be harmful. Evaluate the decision and figure out what you need to do to keep yourself safe. Always evaluate the circumstances. Act quickly, calmly, rationally, and think about the consequences in the long run. In Tressie McMillan s The Logic of Stupid Poor People , and Andrew Corsello s The Other Side of hate , both of the main characters were exposed to a threat. McMillan changed people s views on the threats of society, while Corsello was facing a threat of his own that will have an indelible imprint on his life. In Tressie McMillan s The Logic of Stupid Poor People , it changed people s views on the threat of keeping up with society, and the status symbol people think they must maintain. Society classifies it as Middle class, suburbs, or simply rich and poor. People feel threatened when someone looks better than them, or has something that they do not have. This story killed all reasons to even feel this way. McMillan also linked this story back to her own personal childhood.
