Google Is Not A Conventional Company
As Sergey and I wrote in the original founders letter 11 years ago, Google is not a conventional
company. We do not intend to become one. As part of that, we also said that you could expect us
to make smaller bets in areas that might seem very speculative or even strange when compared to
our current businesses. From the start, we ve always strived to do more, and to do important and
meaningful things with the resources we have.
We did a lot of things that seemed crazy at the time. Many of those crazy things now have over a
billion users, like Google Maps, YouTube, Chrome, and Android. And we haven t stopped there.
We are still trying to do things other people think are crazy but we are super excited about.
We ve long believed that over time companies tend to get comfortable doing the same thing, just
making incremental changes. But in the technology industry, where revolutionary ideas drive the
next big growth areas, you need to be a bit uncomfortable to stay relevant.
Our company is operating well today, but we think we can make it cleaner and more accountable.
So we are creating a new company, called Alphabet. I am really excited to be running Alphabet as
CEO with help from my capable partner, Sergey, as President.
What is Alphabet? Alphabet is mostly a collection of companies. The largest of which, of course, is
Google. This newer Google is a bit slimmed down, with the companies that are pretty far afield of
our main internet products contained in Alphabet

Barbara Ehrenreich Rhetorical Analysis
In Barbara Ehrenreich s bold and honest book she tackles the issue of poverty in America head
on, by becoming a low wage worker herself. Ehrenreich delves into the often unheard of issues
relating to poverty and low wage work, providing her readers with a new perspective on America
s working poor and manages to give her audience a stark emotional, yet logical and factual, look
into the working class povertyepidemic. She uses her own anecdotal evidence and supports it with
statistics and facts, appeals to ethos by challenging the ethics of corporate America and it costs,
finally she hits an emotional chord with readers by reminding them of what low wageworkers must
endure so that we can live in our America.
In her writing, Ehrenreich balances ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, while receiving a drug test a potential employee may have to urinate in the
presence an aide (209). Not only is it demeaning, it highlights the implied untrustworthiness of
these employees, and in fact results in less productive workers (128). Furthermore, there are
personality tests . Companies are not satisfied with only having workers labor they need to also
have access to their innermost self , as Ehrenreich puts it (59). Both drug testing and personality
testing are very profitable for the people pushing them as necessary, at two billion dollars and four
hundred million dollars respectively (128, 59). Although personality tests can easily be cheated as
Ehrenreich had done and it takes thousands of dollars to detect a single drug user, and they are still
routinely performed despite their negative effects on workers, and their extenuating costs and
minimal benefits (127, 128). By bringing up this issue Ehrenreich tackles the questions of morality
that plays into this equation, while also providing factual evidence to backup these moral wrongs,
again creating a sound

Introducing Lean Concepts in a Manufacturing Company
Your organization, a company that manufactures automobile brake pads, is about to introduce
lean concepts into its operations in order to be more competitive with foreign manufacturers.
The lean project manager does not understand why you, the safety manager, want to be a part of
the process. Provide a convincing argument about what you can contribute if you are included.
Lean manufacturing is based upon the philosophy that zero waste is a legitimate goal for an
organization. Lean manufacturing is based on finding efficiencies and removing wasteful steps
that don t add value to the end product (Lean manufacturing, 2012, Mind Tools). Defects are bad
for customers in the sense that customers receive an unwanted, defective product but also bad for
businesses that must eat the cost of the defective product, as well as suffer a blow to their
reputations. This is particularly true for a safety related item such as a brake pad. Waste in terms
of unneeded expenditures will make the product more expensive, taking away value from the
company in terms of profits and also making consumers less likely to buy a costly item. Waste can
occur in a number of areas, including overproduction; delays; inventory buildups; over processing;
inefficiencies in the human aspects of in manufacturing; product defects; and inefficient allocations
of labor (Lean manufacturing, 2012, Mind Tools). A sales manager such as myself can play a
critical role in identifying waste. First and foremost, I am

House Of Sand And Fog Book Analysis
The Differences Between House of Sand and Fog Book and Movie Books can be extremely
detailed and pictures are painted for the reader by words. Sometimes directors try to transfer
these books into movies. This is a very hard process as words written in a book cannot always be
performed in a reasonable amount of time for a movie. These movies often sell the book short and
there are differences, sometimes major changes between the book and movie. In the novel, House of
Sand and Fog, the plot revolves around three characters. Behrani, an Iranian colonel following the
Iranian Revolution. Behrani ends up working as a garbage collector and as a clerk in a
convenience store since he had no other experience. Kathy, an emotionally unstable... Show more

In the novel, one can see the characters from many different perspectives. In the book the writer
reveals much about Lester s life by highlighting his childhood experiences where his father
abandoned him as a teenager. The book also mentions how Lester was bullied in his childhood
just to paint a picture on what could have caused Lester to be the person he is in adulthood.
When one reads the book he can tell a lot about the characters as more information about their
background is revealed. Behrani s background as a military principal and financial prowess is
revealed much in the book, showing reasons behind his quest for success just to reclaim his lost
mighty. Perelman s movie on the other hand minimizes the novel by removing several scenes as
portrayed in the novel. The movie briefly mentions the issue of Lester being abandoned by his
father but there is not much detail about his childhood. The movie also changes a number of
scenes on the plot of the story. For instance in the last scene of the book, Behrani finds Kathy in
his home following the death of his son. He then tries to strangle her to death before taking his
wife s life along with his own. Kathy and Lester are arrested. In the movie s final scene, Kathy
finds both Behrani

My Career As A Career
First starting this class I didn t know what exactly what I wanted to do with a career. I was
between two careers trying to figure out what would be best for me. The CIT career would be
nice to learn something entirely new and at the same time tie it in with business some how. The
problem I was having is trying to figure out what I was going to do with it. Doing the first set of
activities in this class allowed me to learn what I really wanted in a job and what I can do with out.
My careermust allow me freedom to choose what I wantto do to be able to create what I want. My
career must allow me to choose my own hours. Don t get me wrong that I will only work a little
because I am going to put in hours around the clock. What I mean with flexible hours is that if
something comes up I will be able to work around it. It must also allow me to show leadership
and call shot. Things that aren t so important but still hold value is that my job should allow me
not to work on Sunday. If I have to once in a while because there is no way around it, that is
understandable. My job should allow me to come home for dinner most nights and be with my
family. It could be not stressful but I deal with stress good and don t mind it. It could also be not
dealing with so many angry people but I can handle them pretty will. The first option that I choose
for my career list is computer networking architect. This option really interested me because for my
needs of a job it really fulfills the

Rural, Northern and Remote social work
Glen Schmidt (2000) demonstrated characteristics of Northern social work (p.4). Schmidt (2000)
distinguished the Indigenous definition of the north as home, a welcoming place to live. In
contrast to the western perspective, which is based on European settlement and includes the north
being a, harsh wild that can be used for a resource based economy (p.4). I believe that defining
northern is dependent on who is defining it. I believe that defining north is relative. Considering
that I live in Edmonton, people who living in southern Alberta consider Edmonton north. Also
there are people who live very north such as the hamlet of Grise Fiord. Should Grise Fiord be
considered north? I reiterate that I believe is it dependent upon personal opinion and lived
experience. The influence of resource base economy is significant because it determines, many
peoples source of income as well the community s development. Schmidt mentioned the relationship
of hinterland metropolis as company from urban centres benefitting from the profit of the resources
and not the communities (p.5). Schmidt (2000) also highlighted that the North has been defined as
marginalized part of Canada as the majority of Canada s population is 200km or less from the U.S
border (p.3).
Another characteristic that defines northern social work is the scarcity of service provisions
including, social services, food services, transportation, health services and other basic needs
services. Schmidt (2000) explained the

Ethnocentrism In Avatar
The film, Avatar, depicts humans colonizing Pandora, a lavish livable moon in the Alpha Centauri
star framework, so as to mine the mineral unobtanium controlled by the Na vi, the native of
Pandora (Cameron Landau, 2009). Jake Sully, a handicap ex marine, tasked to infiltrate the place,
known as Pandora, in his given avatarsuit to assist the military in blending into Pandora. In this
essay, the Avatar film shows ethnocentrism and romanticism being displayed.
According to Lundberg(2015), ethnocentrism is the belief of one s culture is prevalent than the
other. In Avatar, the head administrator of RDA, Parker Selfridge, blatantly shows no admiration
to the native of Pandora. He addresses the Na vi as blue monkeys and savages . In additional, ...

Romanticism is where traditional people being seen as presenting a better past when humans
were at one with nature (Lundberg, 2015). One of the scenes where romanticism clearly
uncovered is when Neytiri (Na vi princess) teaching Juke Sully the most proficient method to
ride on the direhorse, the prerequisite for it is for him to bond with the direhorse. To bond with
a direhorse, Jake Sully must mount on it and connect his neural queue found at the end of his
hair braid and the horse s neural queue found at the end of the horse s antenna. Once both neural
queue touches, the optic fiber like wires found in both ends of neural queue automatically
intertwines (Cameron Landau, 2009). This bond signifies the connection between the horse and
Jake sully is essential, sacred. Through this bond, he is able to communicate with the direhorse
or to share their history or memories (Tucker, n.d.). An additional scene is when Jake Sully
experiences risk in the Pandora woods, being assaulted by a couple viperwolves in the Pandora
backwoods. At the point when an excess of viperwolves comes at him, he can no longer battle
for himself. At that basic minute, Neytiri rescues him by killing one of the viperwolves but she
offers her prayers to the viperwolve that she killed.(Cameron Landau, 2009). To the Na vi, the

Did You Know That The Olympics Were Originally Banished
Did you know that the Olympics were originally banished and it took 1,503 years for it to
officially return? The modern Olympics as we know it today came from the ancient Olympic
games that originated in Greece. These things are basically one event that has the same name but
they both have very different aspects and core values to them. This is why I chose to compare
both and show both sides, so that people may be able to see the evolution of the famous Olympic
games.
The ancient Olympics had their own style and was very unique. Back in those days, the games
were religious celebrations that unified the states and were held in honor of the greek gods this
belief system was shared by all people. Furthermore, each of the games ... Show more content on

these Olympic judges were chosen. For instance, the Elis selections procedure entirely involved

Preventive Maintenance
When an individual purchases a new car the person is encouraged to have regular checkups done
on the car. Regular checkups is recommended so one can save money down the line but more
importantly keep the car running good for as long as you have it. The instructions they are
possibly given tells them when the car should be serviced. When you hit 3000 miles make sure
the oil is changed and when you reach 10,000 miles you should bring the car in to be full serviced.
During the full service they will check things such as the brakes, wipers, oil, and tires. These
checkups are known as preventive maintenance. The preventive maintenance can help prevent any
major problems on the car. Like a car it is important for an up and coming minister to conduct...

Sandra Comerie Smith lectured on Pastoral and Spiritual formation in global setting. During the
lecture she gave several key points. There was one particular one that stood out to me. Rev.
Smith said, Sometimes as Christians we are not ready to face the full impact of what is
happening in the world. To be mental fit for ministry in a global setting one must possess a
healthy and strong mind that allows us to handle the challenges and opportunities that life puts in
from of you. With the new administration in place in Washington D.C. we are facing many
challenges. The challenges of discrimination, the challenge of seeing a family separated as a
result of deportation, and the challenge of individuals losing health coverage. With the new issues
arising people will look to the church for direction. When this happens we must be mentally
prepared to minister to the fear people are experiencing. Ronald E, Peters says, Urban ministry
must also reflect the potential love as the most effective alternative to fear. As leaders we must
demonstrate the heart of compassion to show the love people need in such a time as this. The best
way we can be mentally fit to demonstrate the love of God is through self care. As leaders we need
to manage our situation better to prevent possible burn out. When we don t take time out to equip
ourselves mentally it would be difficult to help others through their ordeal. The plenary reminded
me the importance of self care to help keep me prepared for my Jonah

The Feminine Mystique Summary
In this chapter of The Feminine Mystique, Betty Friedan denounces a fundamental notion of the
mystique: The role for women in the home is equal to the role of men in society. To further
explain this notion, she makes use of several different rhetorical devices such as antithesis, when
she establishes a connection between the dreadful physical and mental health of full time
housewives plus men working on assembly lines, and she does so in order to accentuate the hidden
problems of alcoholism, obesity, chronic fatigue, and lack of interest in sex due to preconceived
ideas about genderroles. Moreover, she makes use of logos, when she provides her readers with
statistics about how Women constituted nearly half of the professional workforce;

reliving his experiences while at the historic Howard University, him growing up in the Southside

Coates felt that the American society viewed black lives as worthless, no matter what your
background was. He saw the officer as a direct representation of America s beliefs. Coates makes
it clear that this was nothing new. The history of the destruction of the black body was rooted
not just in slavery, but in the battles of the Civil War, the Jim Crow era, police brutality, racial
profiling, and the creation and promotion of the quote on quote Dream to him. He presents the
idea of being successful as a black person, specifically a black male, in America as having to be
twice as good than your white counterparts. He paints the picture of history repeating himself
because he finds it frustrating that even though his son grew up differently than he did, he still
has to fight the same fight that he himself did as a boy his son s age. He feels as if black people
want to win, they must win in their communities and find joy in it because it is all that they have.
Coates feels that even though the struggle is hard, the struggle provides meaning to life because it
gives black people something to look back on, after they conquer it, to be proud

Socrates s View On Plato s The And Aristophanes s The...
Elenchus, as a famous Socratic method for education, uses dialogue and questions to approach
philosophical truths. The method is presented in both Plato s the Euthyphro and Aristophanes s the
Clouds. However, Socrates s personal image and characteristics, as well as the nature of his
questioning differ a lot in these two works. While the Euthyphro presents a philosopher king
guiding the less wise people in discovery of truths, Socratesin the Clouds has little interest in either
exploring the ethical truth or helping others get out of Platos cave . Instead, he is portrayed as a
sophist who corrupts people with mysterious and useless knowledge, ignores traditional Athenian
education, and debilitates Athenian men. Compared to Plato s focus on Socrates s wisdom
reflected in the dialogue, the Clouds is a distorted interpretation of Socrates s elenchus. Rather than
justifiably criticizing Socrates, Aristophanes depicts him from a common Athenian s perspective. It
is this misunderstanding of the value of Socrates s teaching by Athenian citizens that constitutes the
failure of elenchus in both the Clouds and the Euthyphro.
Socrates s image in the two works differ firstly in his attitude towards knowledge and towards
himself. A typical statement of Socrates, both in the Euthyphro and in other Plato s works, is that
he has no clear knowledge. He is different from the public because he knows that he does not know.
Neither does he claim to teach or corrupt the young (Euthyphro, p.2

Evolving Images In What Is The Self By Mihalyi
The text What is the Self by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi is an interesting reading because it gives
examples in how that self is created and looked at. There is things we pay attention to and attend to
that makes that self . Personal objects, images, household objects, collective representation, and
images of the ideal self, are some general examples that show us that self ; and how these images
or sense of feeling will help us in the future. This essay will explain in specific details the way
we become that self and summarize the reading. The main points in Evolving Images of the
Ideal Self is images that give us clues, who we can be or try to be. Also people create events or
copy events, and try to create a false self. People start giving imagination a new meaning. More
than it was reality, it is more an illusion they created. Mihaly provides the example about sculpture

The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari Essay
Around the premonition of the rising of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party, two German World War I
veterans named Hans Janowitz and Carl Mayer wrote the script for the German silent film, The
Cabinet of Dr. Caligari . Based on experience from their time in the German military, they wrote the
script based on the mistrust of authority while with the military in World War I. The plot tells the
story of a crazy hypnotist, Dr. Caligari, who hypnotizes and uses a somnambulist, Cesare, to
commit murders. Dr. Caligari represented the murderous authority that the German war government

P1 is a regular Preset potentiometer and adjusts a wide range of temperature for this circuit. We use

had in the company? What have I learned and how have I developed my skills? Will it endure and
lead to better, more efficient, and profitable business practices? Prior to working at this company, I
had never before worked in manufacturing, much less the containers, packages, and materials
handling industry. I had not yet professionally designed for the manufacturing either. Woodruff was
giving me an amazing opportunity to apply my education, learn real world applications, and I was
earnest to prove myself. During my final interview, noting my excitement, my boss to be made me
aware that he is in the midst of projects to improve the business, that the prevailing company culture
is resistant to change, and that it has been an uphill battle trying to sway the company culture
towards continuous improvement. He believes I have that mindset and wants me to promote it
throughout the business. I learned then, and reaffirmed over my time there that it must be done
with both patience and persistence. After hiring me, he asked me to a meeting in his office. The
company currently had few materials for the purpose of training designers new to the industry. He
also asked that as I learn the ins and outs of designing for the industry that I document what I have
learned for the purpose of

4 Elements Of Hip-Hop
The 4 Elements that Hip Hop is comprised of is Graffiti, B Boying, DJ ing and MC ing. Each
element played an integral role in establishing the base of Hip Hop, but also jumpstarting a
cultural revolution. It is important to break down each one of the 4 Elements so we can have a
better understanding of what each one is and the specific contributions they made. Graffiti was
born in Philadelphia in the 1960s and involved artists spray painting writings or images onto
various pieces of property. Cornbread and Cool Earl , from Philadelphia, are cited as the
originators of the graffiti phenomenon. New York City wasn t a part of the graffiti game until
the early 1970s. Some of the early notable NYC artists include Julio 204 and Joe 182 .
Traditionally graffiti was used as a means of self expression and oftentimes as a political message.
Graffiti s spirit of rebellion and creativity helped align it with the other elements of Hip Hop even
though it is often condemned as vandalism, anti social and destructive.... Show more content on

Creating A Collaborative Process Among Students
INTRODUCTION
Focus and main aims of the research
The main focus is to create a collaborative process among the students to encourage them in
learning and interacting with others.
Keep them enthusiastic about learning, make them energetic. Give a shape to their daily work that
they can see the result of their own work.
Create a healthy and joyful environment where they can enjoy and make themselves free.
It is to understand the changes in the behavior of students, how they are reacting in different
situations, how they are blending with the class and other students.
Necessity of this research

setup which will give space for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interest of students on different categories like book, games, and toys must be recorded. Their
approach with different elements must be taken care of.
Reading and writing quality in the initial stages and changes in the quality must be noted and
analyzed (Cameron, 2009).
A description of the scenario on which the research was made
This is a place with standard facilities and with good working conditions. The students are here
of many ages. The research tries to cover a class 12 13 year s students. The research has taken
care of the issues like their life outside the school impact of newspapers and television in their life.
It is also noted how the television, magazines effect on their choices (Toloie Eshlaghy et al. 2011).
RESEARCH APPROACH
The approach has been maintained according to the scenario. The ongoing research was done
without letting the students know about it because at this age kids tend to be sensitive. They do
not like any eyes observing them critically. This was taken into mind while doing the research.
Most of the students were from good background, there was no one from deprived background. So,
the research was made taking that into mind. As family matters make marks into mind at this age
thus the information on their life outside school was also noted (Saunders et al. 2008).
Principles of research
The students were not treated like objects in this research. Their development and help was the first

What Is True Individual Freedom In The Story Of An Hour
True individual freedom cannot exist without independence, was a quote Franklin D. Roosevelt
once said. What is meant by this statement is you cannot have freedom without independence
and vice versa. It s like the peanut butter needed in a jelly sandwich. Mrs Mallard represents this
quote in the short story The Story of An Hour by Kate Chopin. One day, Mrs. Mallard, the
protagonist received the news that her husband had died in a railroad accident. Once she had
heard this, she went to her room and started to sob. She was sad that her husband died, yet she
often had not loved him. But then, she realized that she can be free and independent since her
husband is dead. Mrs. Mallard, also known as Louise, starts to pray that her life... Show more

Mallard starts to feel free and independent since her husband isn t around the house anymore. She
came to her consensus that there are positive things that are coming from this. In the story, Mrs.
Mallard says Free Body and soul free! she kept whispering (15). The reader learns that Mrs.
Mallard is now feeling like waves of freedom have washed over her, instead of gloomy ones. She
realized that she is now not held back by anyone, as she was seemingly restricted by her husband
to do things she had always dreamed of doing, by herself. Her body and soul are free, looking
forward to fun days later on in her life. She could finally have the freedom and independence she
had always wanted. A little further into the story, Mrs. Mallard s thoughts are Spring and summer
days, and all sorts of days that would be her own. She breathed a quick prayer that life might be
long (18). This is another example of the author showing Mrs. Mallard s independence and
freedom. She is looking forward to free and independent spring and summer days in the future. She
also makes a quick prayer that life might be long because she now wants to experience fun days
with her two new traits. Mrs. Mallard wants her freedom and independence to be the longest it
possibly can, up until she dies. Mrs. Mallard wants to experience her freedom and independence
now since her husband has

Thomas Jefferson Vs Neoclassical Architecture
Neoclassical Architecture: Jefferson vs. Adams
Thomas Jefferson was conceived on April 13,1743 at Shadwell estate in Western Virginia.
Jefferson exceeded expectations at his reviews and prior in his profession was a nation legal
advisor, he went ahead to turning into the principal Secretary of State in America taken after by
being the second VP and afterward the third leader of the Unified States. Amid his life, Jefferson
drafted many archives the most capable among them were The Affirmation of Autonomy and The
Statute of Virginia for Religious Flexibility.
The first of the two, delineated the common privileges of people and circulated America s
grievances against Lord George III. This report generally proclaimed the opportunity of the
American People from the rule of the English crown, while the last talked about a statute of
religious freedom where there was a partition of chapel and state. In addition to writing, Jefferson
likewise had a liking for Neoclassical architecture.
Jefferson was by all account not the only individual interested with Neoclassical architecture as
Robert Adam was too. Robert Adam, dissimilar to Jefferson, was English and was conceived on
July 3, 1728 at Kirkcaldy, Fifeshire in Scotland. Like Jefferson Adam was accomplished. He,
nonetheless, was prepared skillfully in architecture by his dad nearby his sibling, James Adam.
Robert had the chance to examine in Rome under the tutelage of C.L. Cleriusseu, who was likewise

The Internet is arguably the greatest breakthrough in information technology ever; it allows for
instant communication between people situated on other sides of the world. Furthermore, it
allows for access to virtually limitless information on a plethora of topics. Commerce, too, has
been revolutionized by this medium; the intermediary is cut out of many sales reducing costs,
and sites like eBay have made it much easier for people to find goods they desire. The key to the
success of the Internet is the fact that everything occurs nearly instantaneously; there are no delays
associated with paper work or with having to deal with consumer service representatives on the
phone to verify information. However, there has been a byproduct of the Internet; people have
become impatient more or less and expect information quicker. After a couple years, e mails were
no longer satisfactory. Soon emails were replaced with instant messengers. However, instant
messengers were still limited by a person s ability to read and type quickly. In order to reduce the
length of a message people began using abbreviations, acronyms, and emoticons. Moreover,
sentence structure and grammar are ignored. This new instant culture along with the writing style
of instant messengers has had a profound effect on customs in the real world. Additionally, since the

A Research On Investment Portfolio Project
Investment Portfolio Project
Five companies have been chosen in order to conduct research into the securities that they use
within their company. The five companies are: Oracle, Disney, Cisco, Wal mart and a general
electric company. The companies chosen span over various industries starting with Oracle and
Cisco which are technology companies, Disney which is in the movie industry, Wal Mart which is
a supermarket and lastly an electricity service industry company. This gives us a better view of how
the securities change depending on not only the company but also the industry which they are
involved in.
For each company we will be looking into the 10K and investment reports, general economic data
and Federal Reserve data. 10K reports are an annual comprehensive summary report of a company
s performance (Investopedia, 2015). Investment reports on the other hand, highlight the investments
the company has made into other companies or vice versa. General economic data is what it says
on the tin it focuses on the economic status of the country and the industry. And lastly, Federal
Reserve data provides us with information from their innovative research on a broad range of
topics in economics and finance. (Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, 2015).

Mandela Effect Speech
I. Introduction
Attention Gainer ( I am going to show pictures of popular brands that make you test your
memory, and ask the audience, Have you ever seen everyday brands spelled a certain way, and you
look at it again. And it was never as you saw it.
Reason To Listen/Credibility (Then I will Say) Can you imagine yourself at a store, and looking
through the candy, food, whichever section you are at, and all of a sudden you see that the
popular brand Febreze was never spelled Febreeze , or Kit Kat was never spelled with a dash, Kit
Kat . It blows your mind, and you can only help, but wonder how can this be. It test your memory
quite a bit and makes you think about how it could ve changed from the last time you saw that
brand to the time it was seen differently in the store that day. The explanation to this phenomena
would be The Mandela Effect. My interest in this topic came to me when I was walking into an
H.E.B, and I saw a Febreze bottle that caught my eye. The Febreze bottle was spelled Febreze ,
and I have always remembered Febreeze . When I Got home I went straight to my computer and
searched up Febreze or Febreeze. The first thing that popped up was the Mandela Effect, and
ever since then I have been hooked on this effect and its logic. As of right now, I have been
looking and searching for more and more theories of this effect for a good amount of time, and I
believe with my research and study I can show what The Mandela Effect is all about.

The Powerful Roles Of Adolf Hitler And Joseph Hitler
If you can abuse your power, you have too much. Marty Rubin, a Floridian writer, once said
(Keefe, 2009). The abundance of power is very dangerous when placed in the wrong hands.
During World War II and the Holocaust, the world existed at its weakest and most vulnerable
point. Leaders around the world struggled for power like boxers in a ring. Adolf Hitlerand Joseph
Stalinboth reigned as ruthless leaders due to their forceful beliefs, vigorous characteristics, and their
innovative military strategies.
Adolf Hitler always had a fascination with power in both the military and political world. After
France defeated Germany to end World War IHitler accepted a job in Munich as an army political
agent due to an injury that prevented him from fighting. Hitler stood out to the German s
Worker s party and, in 1920, received a promotion to lead the party s publicity. He strived to
further his title and, in the same year, he gained his second promotion to National sozialistische
Deautsche Arbeiterpartei (Nazi). As word spread of the thriving party, Munich became home to
meetings for retired soldiers of the Freikorps, which later influenced many of men to join the
Nazi party. The Freikorps was created for soldiers from WWI who did not want to return to their
lives as it was before serving. Hitler wanted to expand the Nazi party so he gathered his soldiers to
invade Munich. After their mission failed miserably, Hitler served time in prison for his act of
treason. Spending nine

Gastric Bypass Surgery Research Paper
It is clearly that someone who is obese is said to have a higher expense of health care, which
untimely creates an economic burden to the economy. Obesity leads to many diseases. It becomes
relatively expensive for health insurances and individuals to come up with the funding, especially
when gastric bypass surgery is the only solution. In order to solve this problem, insurances need to
cover obesity surgeries because it s considered a disease. As insurance companies cover the
individuals who are obese in the long run the cost benefit ratio will be beneficial to the nation,
company, and individual. Although, insurance companies are unable to see the cost benefit
outweighing the cost in the short term it will eventually occur in the long run.

Viola and Orsino in Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare
In William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night there are several relationships that develop throughout the
play. Among the many characters whose interaction and misunderstanding become the core of the
plot, Viola and Orsino have the most significant relationship. The way they interact with one
another causes the complex conflict of the play, and as the conflict comes to be more complex the
two characters turn from strangers to friends and then to lovers.
In the first Act Viola and Orsino s interaction is on the level of two complete strangers. From the
beginning Viola is not honest with Orsino because she disguises herself as a male page named ...

are other women about. Sooth, but you must. Say that some lady as perhaps there is, hath for you
as great a pang of heart as you have for Olivia. Must she not then be answered? Orsino brushes the
comment off and says that there is no stronger love than he has for Olivia, but the conversation in
itself is a big step in their development into friends from complete strangers. The statement also
leaves the audience a back door to a possible aspiring love relationship.
In the fifth and final act the love between Orsino and Viola is now possible because viola reveals
that she is in fact a woman and not the male page Cesario.
Twelfth Night In Shakespeare s Twelfth Night, it is clearly evident that the fluctuation in attitude to
the dual role and situation and tribulations imposed upon the character of Viola/Cesario ends up in
a better understanding of both sexes, and thus, allows Viola to have a better understanding for
Orsino. Near the opening of the play, when Viola is adopting her male identity, she creates another
self, like two masks and may decide to wear one or the other while swinging between the two
identities in emotion and in character. She decides to take on this identity

Improvisational Music In Invisible Man
My only sin is in my skin, What did I do to be so black and blue?
The protagonist, the invisible man, is stoned from marijuana as he listened to Armstrong s
rendition of What Did I Do to Be So Black and Blue and determined that invisibility gives one a
slightly different sense of time, you re never quite on the beat. (Prologue.) The invisible man
respected Armstrong for making something beautiful out of invisibility. Ellison grew up with a
musical background. In Background to Invisible Man, Harold Bloom wrote, Especially rich was his
extensive music education. Ellison entered Tuskegee Institute at nineteen intending ... Show more

The restriction that science imposed was overcame with the ability to think of the situation
differently. The narrator initially embraced his invisibility, but found this action to be boring. He
decided to make his own contributions to society as a multi faceted individual to force others to
acknowledge him and his contributions to society. This is seen when the narrator increased his
activity within the Brotherhood as a public motivator. These two actions relate to the overall theme
of the protagonist thinking of himself as outside the conventional mold because that is displayed as
success consistently in the novel.
Music is open to many interpretations; some artists perform grunge, pop, jazz, etc. Although these
may have different sounds, all of these genres are open to improvisation, a skill that was mastered
by Louis Armstrong. Perhaps I like Louis Armstrong because he s made poetry out of being
invisible. I think it must be because he s unaware that he is invisible. And my own grasp of
invisibility aids me to understand his music. (Prologue.) Because the protagonist is aware of his
invisibility, he is able to comprehend the world around him, while Armstrong s unawareness of his
invisibility allows him to create meaningful art. Music is not one specific note or key; Louis
Armstrong s music is blurred through the use of differing rhythmic beats and improvisation. So
music, creates a world that

To find out all available options and their pros and cons my team has put together the following
analysis:
In one and half month the single word of one mathematician has turned into a worldwide campaign
against us. AMD, Cyrix, and Nexgen are benefiting most from these events. They proved to have
become quicker in manufacturing clones of our innovative products. Given this shorter time to
market, they may jump on this opportunity to deliver Pentium clones any time. Our strategy to stop
competitors copying our new products was heavy patent protection for the Pentium brand, however
if our brand image is continually damaged to such extent, that protection would not give us the
competitive advantage we expected. Although we have been the chips of choice for most of users,
with the current negative publicity, the competitors may find their niche and expand their market
share. Cost of switching from one type of processor to another (for example from Intel to AMD) is
not significant for computer manufacturers due to the modular nature of this product. We know that
this flaw would not affect any significant portion of the personal users (about 3.7 millions chips
sold). The business users with heavy calculation needs such as engineering and specifically
financial sectors would

is expressing herself, and that only a tiny bit of her personality comes out when she is near others.

Question 1: What forms of data do you use most often to make instructional or other decisions? As
a teacher I use formative and summative data to drive my instruction. As I start with the state

assessment. In years prior our school district used the platform of Performance Matter to collect
data of that grade level standards three times a year. This type of information set in with Dr. Scott

baseline, measurable instructional goals, frequent formative assessment, professional learning
communities, and focused instructional interventions (pp. 1 2, 20??). The assessment gave teachers
a baseline, mid year, and end year focus. When the teacher delved into the platform each question
was broken down each standard and concept, thus allowing teacher to provide adequate
instructional goal to meet the students needs. Teachers would also look at past state standardized
testing to determine what if any remediation is needed. As a principal, he/she/I needs to understand
the data elements to schedule necessary people and aid for the professional development

electric cars have occurred and continue to occur.
The purpose of this report is to describe the technology used to manufacture an electric vehicle and

vehicle has grown rapidly and how it became a requirement to a better world. The research report
compares the electric engine to the internal combustion engine vehicle as well as shedding some
light on the future of electric cars.
A Brief History of Electric Vehicles In the early 1930s, Robert Anderson invented the first
electric vehicle in Scotland, in addition to the first basic electric carriage. Americans started
paying attention to electric vehicles in 1895, right after A.L. Ryker built an electric tricycle and
William Morrison built a six passenger wagon. The production and use of the electric car started
in the 1920s due to a better road system, reduction in gasoline prices, and most importantly, the
mass production of fuel engine cars. In the 60s and 70s, electric vehicles reemerged due to the
environmental damage fuel engine cars had created for people (Belis, n.d.(a)). Electric vs. Fuel

Improving The Data Warehouse Technology Essay
There is currently a very strong need for a defined and standardized process to request work
related to the data warehouse. Not only does the work requests need to be standardized the
development methodology needs to be defined with an agile approach fitting best with the
direction and culture of the company. By clearly defining steps to both of these things the
efficiency of the team will be greatly improved. They should be able to complete more projects
as well as improve the quality of the products they are producing. With less mistakes and errors
and more work being completed the return on investment for the data warehouse technology will
be greatly increased. These changes could also drive a change in the culture of the company to
become more data driven. If there was confidence in the data warehouse and the reporting coming
from it as well as trust between the business departments and the data team this could drive
improvement across the company. Discovering opportunities for improvement using data is the
currently unrealized goal of the data warehouse. All improvements and changes and improvements
outlines in this document have that goal in mind. 2BUSINESS NEED AND CURRENT
SITUATION There is currently a business need for a more formal software and systems
development methodology for the data team. A standard process needs to be created and adhered
to for the full development cycle starting with the submittal of an idea to the promotion process of a

Analysis Of The Film Tomboy And The Picture Book And Tango...
To be normal is something that one aspires to be. Being normal gives one the feeling of
acceptance and of belonging. In a world full of billions of people one just wants to fit in. This is
especially true for a young person. What young person does not want to be considered normal?
That being said, what does being normal truly look like? Furthermore, how is it defined in
certain places? What is considered to be normal at home and school? To be considered normal
does one have to have a family that consists of a Mom and Dad and siblings and a dog. What
about at school? Does being normal mean one is a good student who has lots of friends who
share the same interests. Then what happens to those young people who do not share these
similar life experiences? Are they then not considered normal? Where do they fit in and to what
do they belong to? This essay will reexamine what it means to be normal in today s world. By
looking at the film Tomboy and the picture book And Tango Makes Three
normalcy will be
challenged in the contexts of the family, at school and within oneself.
Literature and films are extremely powerful tools. Not only do they serve as entertainment they
allow one to connect with the text and images in the films and find meaning within their own
lives. Seeing a character who is going through similar life experiences as yourself really makes
one feel as if they are not alone. It proves that someone out there in the world is experiencing the
same things. This holds

The Impact of Puritans on the Development of America and...
The Impact of Puritans on the Development of America and its influence on modern society
The Puritans came to America in search of greater freedom for religious liberty. They felt unable
to worship and practice their theological perspectives as long as they were under the umbrella of
the Church of England. The puritans views with the Church of England began differ greatly and
they felt they could no longer be under their control. The Puritans decided that they needed to break
free from the Church of England and find a place where they could practice their religion without
persecution or interference. The new world in the American colonies provided a great opportunity
for the Puritans to branch out and form their own communities with ... Show more content on

They believed that the Church of England was moving toward the same doctrine as the Catholic
Church and they refused to be associated with that type of teaching. They believed the Church of
England worshipped idols and prayed to many gods, for example the Catholic Church praying to
the Saints. The Puritans broke away from the Church of England for these reasons and wanted a
world where there was one true God according to their religion. The new world in America offered
the Puritans this opportunity to be free from the Church of England and form their own
communities according to the way they viewed Christianity. The Puritan term comes from the
belief that one should remain pure in body and in thought to God. It was very important for them
to live a life of strict order and obedience to God and His Word in order to gain eternal life. The
Puritans arrived in New England and started to set up communities to practice their religion. The
Puritans had no sooner landed in the New World than they began coercively to purify their
surroundings ( Rothbard, 1999) They purified their surroundings by purging everyone who was not
a Christian by setting up communities that elusively Christian and ruled with a theocratic mindset.
The Massachusetts colony was organized in towns. The church con¬gregation of each town
selected its minister. Unlike the thinly populated, extensive settlement of Virginia, the clustering in
towns was ideal for having

Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech
Al Gore s speech titled Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech is a powerful work of literature which
serves two purposes. The first purpose is stated in the title to accept his award of the Nobel Peace
Prize. The second intent he had when writing the speech was to reiterate his points that awarded
him the honor in the first place. The speech explains his passion for the problem in our world that
is the climate change and how much we pollute our earth. To give a short gist of what his cause
was, the following quote offers much insight to the regretful aspect of our society that he is
passionate about fixing. He says So today, we dumped another 70 million tons of global warming
pollution into the thin shell of atmosphere surrounding our planet,... Show more content on

His call to actions is for us to choose between two futures. He goes on to explain further by
challenging the reader to challenge assumption as well as repetition. Challenging us to question
the repetition that would eminently happen if we don t unify and majorly change our actions.
His persuasion is made very strong and hard hitting when he says we are standing at the most
fateful fork in that path. So I want to end as I began, with a vision of two futures each a palpable
possibility and with a prayer that we will see with vivid clarity the necessity of choosing
between those two futures, and the urgency of making the right choice now. Reading this quote
gives the feeling of being very inspired and feeling empowered. That being said, I feel Gore
should have given more concrete action that he proposes we take. He should have said things
such as we should stop allowing every person to drive a motor vehicle as much as they please. If
he d said something along those lines, it puts a specific concern in mind and helps along the
putting the reality of better, healthier world into fruition. He also could have proposed that
perhaps every person who owns a vehicle be required to plant a tree once a year. His speech was
powerful with lots of drawing of parallels, a lot of analogies, and many accounts of making
associations. While he is lacking a concrete and specific remedy for our current situation, maybe
it is okay. Perhaps all we need is to see that we do have a choice in how we can influence the
world, and the rest is up to us to draw from the inspiration and coordinate our own, personal next
move to attain the goal that has been

Gun Violence And Domestic Issues In The United States
Domestic Issues and Solutions
It is no secret that the United States faces many domestic issues today and many Americans want a
solution to those issues. One of those many issues is gun control laws. Since the devastating
shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in 2012 that left 28 dead, many Americans have expressed
their fear of firearm regulations wondering, what will be done? . After considering both sides, I
believe that there needs to more effective gun laws set in place in order to protect the lives of our
citizens. Don t get me wrong, I do believe that Americans should have the right to bear arms and
stand their ground, but by doing so should not threaten the safety of others. As a result, I propose
that basic psychological exams should be a requirement to obtain a gun to prevent people who
have undiscovered mental issues from bearing arms. Also, any individual who has been convicted
of a felony should have their gun rights suspended. Seeing, as a felony is a very serious crime and
those who commit it are likely to continue participating in illegal activities even after released from
serving their sentence. Lastly, there should be mandatory safety features to protect young ones. I
feel these solutions should be enforced, but in doing so should not violate an individual s second
amendment right to bear arms. Furthermore, another domestic issue we face today is pollution.
Over two thirds of the United States waters are polluted. Although many ignore pollution and feel it

Examples Of Functionalism In Pay It Forward
The film Pay it forward depicts a 7th grade boy, Trevor, who is given an assignment from a
social studies teacher. The assignment is to create a way to make the world a better place in
which Trevor comes up with paying it forward. To pay I forward Trevor helps one person and
challenges them to help 3 more people eventually getting everyone who helps others challenge
someone else to pay it forward. Through his mothers alcoholism and his teachers support Trevor
helps people throughout his state to another pay it forward. The film Pay it forward represents
sociological perspectives such as Functionalism, conflict perspective, and symbolic interactionism.
Pay it forward represents functionalism, the approach that emphasizes the contributions made by
each part of society to keep it functioning smoothly, in each characters lifestyle and background.
Society uses functionalism to understand what they are doing themselves. We depend on an
overall consensus of beliefs and values, mechanical solidarity, to give our lives its value. In the
dramaturgy, Arlene is a perfect example of someone using mechanical solidarity working a
degrading job also allowing sexism to be a part of what values she has for herself. Society also is
dependent on the specialization of roles, organic solidarity. The 7th graders not believing they can

her garage that Trevor brought home to pay it forward. Arlene threatened the man with a gun and
even called him names because she was clueless on his intentions and society has told her it is not
normal for someone to randomly come fix your car. Also the depiction shows social conflict with
the homeless/alcohol and drug abusers, being set apart and unassociated with

Conclusion For Universal Health Care
Premise 1: A universal health care system would reduce health care costs.
Premise 2: Universal health care improves overall public health.
Premise 3: Universal health care would encourage patients to practice preventive medicine.
Premise 4: Healthcare would be affordable to all citizens if made universal.
Conclusion: Therefore, implementing a universal health care system in our society would greatly
benefit everyone.
Reducing Health Costs
With a universal health care system, the government would have control and run the system,
therefore, the cost of healthcare would be regulated. A universal health care system would be
regulated by the government, so costs overall would be reduced with a more monitored system to
reduce inflated costs for tests, hospital stays and procedures. (Ireland, 2017) When you regulate
medical costs, the cost of medical coverage, supplies, and prescriptions are more affordable for
everyone.
Improved Overall Public Health
With universal healthcare being more affordable, everyone gets equal access to medical health
care. This can lead to a reduction in the number of medical issues suffered by our society.
According to Howard K. Koh, M.D., we can absolutely expect for overall public health to
improve if we provide quality, affordable health care coverage for all Americans. (Cohen, 2009)
This means people would miss less work and/or school. This also means that more people could be
seen for some of the most basic ailments such as colds,

Puritanism And Romanticism
There have been three major influential movements in American history Puritanism, Rationalism,
and Romanticism. Each occurring during generally different time periods, they produced a number
of different types of literature reflecting their beliefs at the time. The Puritans, being some of the
first settlers in modern day America, relied heavily on beliefs they brought with them from the
Church of England. Rather than simply being followers of their prior Church, Puritans believed in
the Church as less of a structured organization and more of a spiritual journey or community. In
these beliefs, the Puritans sought to bring religion, spirituality, and the Bible into mainstream
thought. The Puritans had a number of other important beliefs... Show more content on

In reaction to these changes in the world, also not overnight, the Romantic movement began.
Romanticism held the beliefs that nature is of the utmost importance and that human intuition
should be held as more valuable than logic. Romantics at the time didn t appreciate how
Rationalism had ruined the sense of serenity and being one with nature. This movement, unlike the
previous two, sought to bring the world back to what it was meant to be rather than attempting to
explain why things happened or where they came from. Romantics simply believed in the idea that
humans should be one with nature and appreciate the world for what it is. Each of these three
movements would view the fairly modern idea of government spending on national security
differently because of the beliefs and values they held during their time period. Government
spending alone is a controversial subject matter, let alone government spending on such an crucial
sector as national security. Currently, governments are far more established in their systems than
they were during the time these three movements took place. At the time Puritanism began, the idea
of a democratic society was purely fictional and had never been truly applied in any country or
state. Considering the fact that a democratic country was established soon after the Puritan
movement, this essay will be focusing on the spending of major democratic governments such as
the United States and the European Union. In the United

How Does Alfred Lord Tennyson Use Imagery In The Charge Of...
The Bravery of War The Charge of the Light Brigade is a poem written by Alfred Lord Tennyson
commemorating the bravery of British soldiers during the Crimean War. Acting upon a mistaken
order, the soldiers make a valiant yet doomed attack against the enemy. Armed with only sabres,
the soldiers suffer heavy losses against the artillery of the enemy and must retreat immediately.
Tennyson does not focus on the mishaps of war but instead upon the bravery of the soldiers in the
Light Brigade. He describes the dangers the soldiers encounter in the battle. Through his use of
personification and imagery along with other literary elements, Tennyson presents a theme of
honor as he provides the reader with a portrait of the brave soldiers who serve... Show more content

Racial Differences Of Sexual Prejudice And Its Correlation
Racial Differences in Sexual Prejudice and Its Correlates among Heterosexual Men Irene Dabion,
John L. Peterson, and Dominic J. Parrott One in ten gay men and lesbians have admitted to being a
victim to a violent crime. 50% state at some point in their life, they had been insulted or verbally

and its victims often suffer greater bodily harm. This a growing concern. Introduction Numerous
research studies have shown there exists a strong link between sexual prejudice and antigay
aggression. In fact, the relationship is so significant anti bullying campaigns have been developed
based off this research. Limitations to these studies However, the majority of research investigating
this tendency has been conducted in college towns where the majority of participants were
predominantly white and college aged. Hardly representationally of the general population!
Furthermore, current research has failed to investigate the effects of cultural beliefs and values on
an individual s prejudices. With the increasing numbers of hate crime being committed, it is the
author s opinion current theories on sexual orientation based prejudice fail to address the numerous
issues, lacks information, and fails to account for cultural diversities that exit in the United States

  • 2. Google Is Not A Conventional Company As Sergey and I wrote in the original founders letter 11 years ago, Google is not a conventional company. We do not intend to become one. As part of that, we also said that you could expect us to make smaller bets in areas that might seem very speculative or even strange when compared to our current businesses. From the start, we ve always strived to do more, and to do important and meaningful things with the resources we have. We did a lot of things that seemed crazy at the time. Many of those crazy things now have over a billion users, like Google Maps, YouTube, Chrome, and Android. And we haven t stopped there. We are still trying to do things other people think are crazy but we are super excited about. We ve long believed that over time companies tend to get comfortable doing the same thing, just making incremental changes. But in the technology industry, where revolutionary ideas drive the next big growth areas, you need to be a bit uncomfortable to stay relevant. Our company is operating well today, but we think we can make it cleaner and more accountable. So we are creating a new company, called Alphabet. I am really excited to be running Alphabet as CEO with help from my capable partner, Sergey, as President. What is Alphabet? Alphabet is mostly a collection of companies. The largest of which, of course, is Google. This newer Google is a bit slimmed down, with the companies that are pretty far afield of our main internet products contained in Alphabet ... • 3. Barbara Ehrenreich Rhetorical Analysis In Barbara Ehrenreich s bold and honest book she tackles the issue of poverty in America head on, by becoming a low wage worker herself. Ehrenreich delves into the often unheard of issues relating to poverty and low wage work, providing her readers with a new perspective on America s working poor and manages to give her audience a stark emotional, yet logical and factual, look into the working class povertyepidemic. She uses her own anecdotal evidence and supports it with statistics and facts, appeals to ethos by challenging the ethics of corporate America and it costs, finally she hits an emotional chord with readers by reminding them of what low wageworkers must endure so that we can live in our America. In her writing, Ehrenreich balances ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, while receiving a drug test a potential employee may have to urinate in the presence an aide (209). Not only is it demeaning, it highlights the implied untrustworthiness of these employees, and in fact results in less productive workers (128). Furthermore, there are personality tests . Companies are not satisfied with only having workers labor they need to also have access to their innermost self , as Ehrenreich puts it (59). Both drug testing and personality testing are very profitable for the people pushing them as necessary, at two billion dollars and four hundred million dollars respectively (128, 59). Although personality tests can easily be cheated as Ehrenreich had done and it takes thousands of dollars to detect a single drug user, and they are still routinely performed despite their negative effects on workers, and their extenuating costs and minimal benefits (127, 128). By bringing up this issue Ehrenreich tackles the questions of morality that plays into this equation, while also providing factual evidence to backup these moral wrongs, again creating a sound ... • 4. Introducing Lean Concepts in a Manufacturing Company Your organization, a company that manufactures automobile brake pads, is about to introduce lean concepts into its operations in order to be more competitive with foreign manufacturers. The lean project manager does not understand why you, the safety manager, want to be a part of the process. Provide a convincing argument about what you can contribute if you are included. Lean manufacturing is based upon the philosophy that zero waste is a legitimate goal for an organization. Lean manufacturing is based on finding efficiencies and removing wasteful steps that don t add value to the end product (Lean manufacturing, 2012, Mind Tools). Defects are bad for customers in the sense that customers receive an unwanted, defective product but also bad for businesses that must eat the cost of the defective product, as well as suffer a blow to their reputations. This is particularly true for a safety related item such as a brake pad. Waste in terms of unneeded expenditures will make the product more expensive, taking away value from the company in terms of profits and also making consumers less likely to buy a costly item. Waste can occur in a number of areas, including overproduction; delays; inventory buildups; over processing; inefficiencies in the human aspects of in manufacturing; product defects; and inefficient allocations of labor (Lean manufacturing, 2012, Mind Tools). A sales manager such as myself can play a critical role in identifying waste. First and foremost, I am ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. House Of Sand And Fog Book Analysis The Differences Between House of Sand and Fog Book and Movie Books can be extremely detailed and pictures are painted for the reader by words. Sometimes directors try to transfer these books into movies. This is a very hard process as words written in a book cannot always be performed in a reasonable amount of time for a movie. These movies often sell the book short and there are differences, sometimes major changes between the book and movie. In the novel, House of Sand and Fog, the plot revolves around three characters. Behrani, an Iranian colonel following the Iranian Revolution. Behrani ends up working as a garbage collector and as a clerk in a convenience store since he had no other experience. Kathy, an emotionally unstable... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the novel, one can see the characters from many different perspectives. The book also mentions how Lester was bullied in his childhood just to paint a picture on what could have caused Lester to be the person he is in adulthood. When one reads the book he can tell a lot about the characters as more information about their background is revealed. Behrani s background as a military principal and financial prowess is revealed much in the book, showing reasons behind his quest for success just to reclaim his lost mighty. Perelman s movie on the other hand minimizes the novel by removing several scenes as portrayed in the novel. The movie briefly mentions the issue of Lester being abandoned by his father but there is not much detail about his childhood. The movie also changes a number of scenes on the plot of the story. For instance in the last scene of the book, Behrani finds Kathy in his home following the death of his son. He then tries to strangle her to death before taking his wife s life along with his own. The CIT career would be nice to learn something entirely new and at the same time tie it in with business some how. The problem I was having is trying to figure out what I was going to do with it. Doing the first set of activities in this class allowed me to learn what I really wanted in a job and what I can do with out. My careermust allow me freedom to choose what I wantto do to be able to create what I want. My career must allow me to choose my own hours. Don t get me wrong that I will only work a little because I am going to put in hours around the clock. What I mean with flexible hours is that if something comes up I will be able to work around it. It must also allow me to show leadership and call shot. Things that aren t so important but still hold value is that my job should allow me not to work on Sunday. If I have to once in a while because there is no way around it, that is understandable. My job should allow me to come home for dinner most nights and be with my family. It could be not stressful but I deal with stress good and don t mind it. It could also be not dealing with so many angry people but I can handle them pretty will. The first option that I choose for my career list is computer networking architect. This option really interested me because for my needs of a job it really fulfills the ... • 8. Rural, Northern and Remote social work Glen Schmidt (2000) demonstrated characteristics of Northern social work (p.4). Schmidt (2000) distinguished the Indigenous definition of the north as home, a welcoming place to live. In contrast to the western perspective, which is based on European settlement and includes the north being a, harsh wild that can be used for a resource based economy (p.4). I believe that defining northern is dependent on who is defining it. I believe that defining north is relative. Considering that I live in Edmonton, people who living in southern Alberta consider Edmonton north. Also there are people who live very north such as the hamlet of Grise Fiord. Should Grise Fiord be considered north? I reiterate that I believe is it dependent upon personal opinion and lived experience. The influence of resource base economy is significant because it determines, many peoples source of income as well the community s development. Schmidt mentioned the relationship of hinterland metropolis as company from urban centres benefitting from the profit of the resources and not the communities (p.5). Schmidt (2000) also highlighted that the North has been defined as marginalized part of Canada as the majority of Canada s population is 200km or less from the U.S border (p.3). Another characteristic that defines northern social work is the scarcity of service provisions including, social services, food services, transportation, health services and other basic needs services. Jake Sully, a handicap ex marine, tasked to infiltrate the place, known as Pandora, in his given avatarsuit to assist the military in blending into Pandora. In this essay, the Avatar film shows ethnocentrism and romanticism being displayed. According to Lundberg(2015), ethnocentrism is the belief of one s culture is prevalent than the other. One of the scenes where romanticism clearly uncovered is when Neytiri (Na vi princess) teaching Juke Sully the most proficient method to ride on the direhorse, the prerequisite for it is for him to bond with the direhorse. To bond with a direhorse, Jake Sully must mount on it and connect his neural queue found at the end of his hair braid and the horse s neural queue found at the end of the horse s antenna. Once both neural queue touches, the optic fiber like wires found in both ends of neural queue automatically intertwines (Cameron Landau, 2009). The modern Olympics as we know it today came from the ancient Olympic games that originated in Greece. These things are basically one event that has the same name but they both have very different aspects and core values to them. This is why I chose to compare both and show both sides, so that people may be able to see the evolution of the famous Olympic games. The ancient Olympics had their own style and was very unique. Back in those days, the games were religious celebrations that unified the states and were held in honor of the greek gods this belief system was shared by all people. Sandra Comerie Smith lectured on Pastoral and Spiritual formation in global setting. During the lecture she gave several key points. There was one particular one that stood out to me. Rev. Smith said, Sometimes as Christians we are not ready to face the full impact of what is happening in the world. To be mental fit for ministry in a global setting one must possess a healthy and strong mind that allows us to handle the challenges and opportunities that life puts in from of you. With the new administration in place in Washington D.C. we are facing many challenges. The challenges of discrimination, the challenge of seeing a family separated as a result of deportation, and the challenge of individuals losing health coverage. With the new issues arising people will look to the church for direction. When this happens we must be mentally prepared to minister to the fear people are experiencing. Ronald E, Peters says, Urban ministry must also reflect the potential love as the most effective alternative to fear. As leaders we must demonstrate the heart of compassion to show the love people need in such a time as this. The best way we can be mentally fit to demonstrate the love of God is through self care. As leaders we need to manage our situation better to prevent possible burn out. When we don t take time out to equip ourselves mentally it would be difficult to help others through their ordeal. The Feminine Mystique Summary In this chapter of The Feminine Mystique, Betty Friedan denounces a fundamental notion of the mystique: The role for women in the home is equal to the role of men in society. To further explain this notion, she makes use of several different rhetorical devices such as antithesis, when she establishes a connection between the dreadful physical and mental health of full time housewives plus men working on assembly lines, and she does so in order to accentuate the hidden problems of alcoholism, obesity, chronic fatigue, and lack of interest in sex due to preconceived ideas about genderroles. He presents a personal narrative by reliving his experiences while at the historic Howard University, him growing up in the Southside of Chicago, and even his childhood home. He reimagines the past and confronts our present state with hopes of offering a transcendent vision for a way forward. Coates felt that the American society viewed black lives as worthless, no matter what your background was. He saw the officer as a direct representation of America s beliefs. Coates makes it clear that this was nothing new. The history of the destruction of the black body was rooted not just in slavery, but in the battles of the Civil War, the Jim Crow era, police brutality, racial profiling, and the creation and promotion of the quote on quote Dream to him. He presents the idea of being successful as a black person, specifically a black male, in America as having to be twice as good than your white counterparts. He paints the picture of history repeating himself because he finds it frustrating that even though his son grew up differently than he did, he still has to fight the same fight that he himself did as a boy his son s age. He feels as if black people want to win, they must win in their communities and find joy in it because it is all that they have. • 14. Socrates s View On Plato s The And Aristophanes s The... Elenchus, as a famous Socratic method for education, uses dialogue and questions to approach philosophical truths. The method is presented in both Plato s the Euthyphro and Aristophanes s the Clouds. However, Socrates s personal image and characteristics, as well as the nature of his questioning differ a lot in these two works. While the Euthyphro presents a philosopher king guiding the less wise people in discovery of truths, Socratesin the Clouds has little interest in either exploring the ethical truth or helping others get out of Platos cave . Instead, he is portrayed as a sophist who corrupts people with mysterious and useless knowledge, ignores traditional Athenian education, and debilitates Athenian men. Compared to Plato s focus on Socrates s wisdom reflected in the dialogue, the Clouds is a distorted interpretation of Socrates s elenchus. Rather than justifiably criticizing Socrates, Aristophanes depicts him from a common Athenian s perspective. It is this misunderstanding of the value of Socrates s teaching by Athenian citizens that constitutes the failure of elenchus in both the Clouds and the Euthyphro. Socrates s image in the two works differ firstly in his attitude towards knowledge and towards himself. A typical statement of Socrates, both in the Euthyphro and in other Plato s works, is that he has no clear knowledge. He is different from the public because he knows that he does not know. Neither does he claim to teach or corrupt the young (Euthyphro, p.2 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The production and use of the electric car started in the 1920s due to a better road system, reduction in gasoline prices, and most importantly, the mass production of fuel engine cars. In the 60s and 70s, electric vehicles reemerged due to the environmental damage fuel engine cars had created for people (Belis, n.d.(a)). • 47. Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech Al Gore s speech titled Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech is a powerful work of literature which serves two purposes. The first purpose is stated in the title to accept his award of the Nobel Peace Prize. The second intent he had when writing the speech was to reiterate his points that awarded him the honor in the first place. The speech explains his passion for the problem in our world that is the climate change and how much we pollute our earth. To give a short gist of what his cause was, the following quote offers much insight to the regretful aspect of our society that he is passionate about fixing. He says So today, we dumped another 70 million tons of global warming pollution into the thin shell of atmosphere surrounding our planet,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His call to actions is for us to choose between two futures. He goes on to explain further by challenging the reader to challenge assumption as well as repetition. Challenging us to question the repetition that would eminently happen if we don t unify and majorly change our actions. His persuasion is made very strong and hard hitting when he says we are standing at the most fateful fork in that path. So I want to end as I began, with a vision of two futures each a palpable possibility and with a prayer that we will see with vivid clarity the necessity of choosing between those two futures, and the urgency of making the right choice now. Reading this quote gives the feeling of being very inspired and feeling empowered. That being said, I feel Gore should have given more concrete action that he proposes we take. He should have said things such as we should stop allowing every person to drive a motor vehicle as much as they please. If he d said something along those lines, it puts a specific concern in mind and helps along the putting the reality of better, healthier world into fruition. He also could have proposed that perhaps every person who owns a vehicle be required to plant a tree once a year. His speech was powerful with lots of drawing of parallels, a lot of analogies, and many accounts of making associations. While he is lacking a concrete and specific remedy for our current situation, maybe it is okay. Perhaps all we need is to see that we do have a choice in how we can influence the world, and the rest is up to us to draw from the inspiration and coordinate our own, personal next move to attain the goal that has been ... • 48. Gun Violence And Domestic Issues In The United States Domestic Issues and Solutions It is no secret that the United States faces many domestic issues today and many Americans want a solution to those issues. One of those many issues is gun control laws. Since the devastating shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in 2012 that left 28 dead, many Americans have expressed their fear of firearm regulations wondering, what will be done? . After considering both sides, I believe that there needs to more effective gun laws set in place in order to protect the lives of our citizens. Don t get me wrong, I do believe that Americans should have the right to bear arms and stand their ground, but by doing so should not threaten the safety of others. As a result, I propose that basic psychological exams should be a requirement to obtain a gun to prevent people who have undiscovered mental issues from bearing arms. Also, any individual who has been convicted of a felony should have their gun rights suspended. Seeing, as a felony is a very serious crime and those who commit it are likely to continue participating in illegal activities even after released from serving their sentence. Lastly, there should be mandatory safety features to protect young ones. I feel these solutions should be enforced, but in doing so should not violate an individual s second amendment right to bear arms. Furthermore, another domestic issue we face today is pollution. Over two thirds of the United States waters are polluted. Although many ignore pollution and feel it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The film Pay it forward represents sociological perspectives such as Functionalism, conflict perspective, and symbolic interactionism. Pay it forward represents functionalism, the approach that emphasizes the contributions made by each part of society to keep it functioning smoothly, in each characters lifestyle and background. Society uses functionalism to understand what they are doing themselves. We depend on an overall consensus of beliefs and values, mechanical solidarity, to give our lives its value. In the dramaturgy, Arlene is a perfect example of someone using mechanical solidarity working a degrading job also allowing sexism to be a part of what values she has for herself. Premise 3: Universal health care would encourage patients to practice preventive medicine. Premise 4: Healthcare would be affordable to all citizens if made universal. Conclusion: Therefore, implementing a universal health care system in our society would greatly benefit everyone. Reducing Health Costs With a universal health care system, the government would have control and run the system, therefore, the cost of healthcare would be regulated. A universal health care system would be regulated by the government, so costs overall would be reduced with a more monitored system to reduce inflated costs for tests, hospital stays and procedures. (Ireland, 2017) When you regulate medical costs, the cost of medical coverage, supplies, and prescriptions are more affordable for everyone. Improved Overall Public Health With universal healthcare being more affordable, everyone gets equal access to medical health care. This can lead to a reduction in the number of medical issues suffered by our society. According to Howard K. Koh, M.D., we can absolutely expect for overall public health to improve if we provide quality, affordable health care coverage for all Americans. (Cohen, 2009) This means people would miss less work and/or school. This also means that more people could be seen for some of the most basic ailments such as colds, ... • 51. Puritanism And Romanticism There have been three major influential movements in American history Puritanism, Rationalism, and Romanticism. Each occurring during generally different time periods, they produced a number of different types of literature reflecting their beliefs at the time. The Puritans, being some of the first settlers in modern day America, relied heavily on beliefs they brought with them from the Church of England. Rather than simply being followers of their prior Church, Puritans believed in the Church as less of a structured organization and more of a spiritual journey or community. In these beliefs, the Puritans sought to bring religion, spirituality, and the Bible into mainstream thought. The Puritans had a number of other important beliefs... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In reaction to these changes in the world, also not overnight, the Romantic movement began. Romanticism held the beliefs that nature is of the utmost importance and that human intuition should be held as more valuable than logic. Romantics at the time didn t appreciate how Rationalism had ruined the sense of serenity and being one with nature. This movement, unlike the previous two, sought to bring the world back to what it was meant to be rather than attempting to explain why things happened or where they came from. Romantics simply believed in the idea that humans should be one with nature and appreciate the world for what it is. Each of these three movements would view the fairly modern idea of government spending on national security differently because of the beliefs and values they held during their time period. Government spending alone is a controversial subject matter, let alone government spending on such an crucial sector as national security. Currently, governments are far more established in their systems than they were during the time these three movements took place. At the time Puritanism began, the idea of a democratic society was purely fictional and had never been truly applied in any country or state.
