Miller And Liz Aldermen Analysis
I think all women should have a choice in anything they do. The choice between having a career,
family or both is a discussion they should not take lightly and weigh all their options. They should
also take everyone in account, including the children. Women also have to be careful not to be
caught up in the superwomen syndrome. This is when career women scrambling to run two lives
one at home and one at work. They want to be good wives and mothers, but they also want to be
intellectually stimulated by a challenging career or at least bring in a second income to help their
households get by.
In the New York Post article Why U.S. Women are leaving their jobs behind Clair Cain Miller and
Liz Aldermen write about women having to choose between having a family or career. I m surprised
and upset to find out that women in the U.S. are made to make a choice between having a family
or a career. There are many reasons a woman would need to choose between family and ... Show

Due to these beliefs women are marrying later, having fewer children and divorcing more often.
Men use to except that their careers would be more important than their wives and that they
would do less child care, and because of these conflicting attitudes, women sometimes feel unable
to work even if they want to. Also according to Stuart Sidle the husbands work load had a strong
influence on decisions to leave the workforce with women with husbands working over 45 hours
per week having a greater likelihood of leaving the workforce than women with husbands who

My Passion In Computer Science
I still remember the day, I first used a computer at my uncle s house in the summer of 2000. As a
boy of 8, I was astonished to see the interaction between a television like object and some keys.
From that day, I believe, deep passion for computer grew inside me. A few years later when I got
acquainted with the internet, Computer Science became my most favorite topic. Being amazed by
the potentiality of the internet, I attended a Web Development course after completing high school.
Since then I took Web Development seriously, committed myself to it and decided to study
Computer Science.
From the very beginning of undergraduate studies, I have been one of the most excellent
programmers of my class. Programming and related courses seemed much more interesting than
others to me. Specifically, Programming Languages, Programming Language Structure, Compiler
Design courses helped me to have a solid understanding of different types of programming
languages and their insights. Besides, I learned to organize any problem into small parts and solve
any problem much efficiently from Data Structure and Algorithm course. Alongside academic
studies, I also got myself involved in professional Web Development and extra curricular activities. I
found particular interest in Front end Development. To push my limits further, I also started
participating in different apps competitions and competing with the leading developers of
Bangladesh. Google Dev Fest, World Bank Water Hackathon, BASIS Soft

Athletic Shoe and Nike
NIKE 1 Nike has always remained on the preference list of athletes and athletic footwear was
indeed the first category of products launched by the company more than 30 years ago. Today, you
can see the craze for its products, not only among athletes, but also among golfers and other
sportspeople. Apart from that, Nike shoes and other accessories have also become the favorite
fashion products for teenagers. Thus, fashion, elegance and achievements are some of the
associated attributes of Nike products.

Key factors that influence success of NIKE
If a company is able to establish brand awareness, they will have a significant advantage in grabbing
consumer s attention and, therefore, market share. In today s society where consumers have
significantly less time to shop and compare, brand awareness is critical. If an established brand
name effectively conveys the messages of quality and dependability, consumers will automatically
go to that brand relying on the image that has been created when they don t have time to shop
around. Manufacturing efficiency is something that companies are constantly striving for as well.
Athletic shoe manufacturers must balance the costs of labor, raw materials, shipping, import tariffs,
and technological advancements. In an effort to keeps costs down, the industry has been looking to
overseas sourcing. This reduces the risk of losing revenue if one region which a manufacturer incurs
problems. Favorable legislation regarding foreign manufacturing has led to a huge increase in
foreign sourcing. Overseas production and sourcing can lower material, and labor costs. The
footwear companies must choose their distribution channels carefully because they want to make
the product available, yet remain true to their image and goals. Retailers account for the largest
percentage of sales, so manufacturers must be especially careful with their relationships with them.

The Mafia Argumentative Essay
It started out as a quiet day in my cobbler shop in Florence, Italy. Normal business, but then the
Mafia came bursting in and knocked all of my items over. They cornered me in my office and
demanded payment to continue selling. You see, in April, 1910, the Mafia had started taking over
the manufacturing industry. I didn t want to be a part of that. Fearing for my life and the life of my
family, I made the decision to purchase tickets for all of us to go on a ship that would take us
away. America has exceptional opportunities for us to have a better life, and I had an uncle in
America that we could live with.

This extended essay will talk about taco bell and answer the research question To what extent can
branding help Taco Bell increase its sales in the near future? Taco bell after taking a hit on its
reputation in 2011 due to the beef lawsuit1 managed to recover and become the second most
profitable brand2 in the United States. Just like other subsidiaries under YUM!, Taco Bell

in a food court which increase the competition for Taco Bell especially by McDonalds and
Burger King. When Taco Bell entered the Indian market, all the crowd in the mall used to line
up outside Taco Bell, Oberoi Mall until Burger King opened up right next to it. If Taco Bell want
to increase its sales they should consider relocating its store to an area with high youth
population, for example; around school or colleges. This will allow them to reach out their
targeted customers easily and will further increase sales. Taco Bell had aimed to expand further
into the Indian market by opening more outlets around the nation, this would definitely allow them
to increase sales but Taco Bell will have to ensure they know their market well. The outlet will not

The Media Is A Real Issue
I was 17 years old when I first moved to this country. The first day, when I turned on the TV,
different commercials came on. I watched them with a look of shock on my face. The way they
portray women, in such an over sexualized way, was shocking to me. Compared to where I come
from, America is relatively closed when talking about topics surrounding sex. This use of women
and sex in the media is a recurring theme that I have seen in my years of living in the United
States. I am glad that I can now share, in a school assignment a different cultural view of this topic.
When looking for an advertisement to do my essay on, this one stood out.
I will show, by critically summarizing and analysing a modern ad, that oversexualization of women

Burger King. The female in the picture hurt her mouth by opening too wide when eating a Burger
King burger. This supports their idea of having bigger burgers compared to their competition. But
the picture is much more than just that. If you continue to look closely, there is a hidden message
in the advertisement. It has a rhetoric edge to it. This brought up the argument of the sexualisation
women in the media today. The creator of the ad uses Burger Kings reputation and brand name to
establish credibility. He speaks to an emotional appeal with the choice of picture, and subject in
the picture used. His connection made with Band Aids and bigger leads to an logical approach of
why their burgers are the biggest and best.
This ad immediately got my attention, in a negative way. When further analyzing the picture, my
feelings only got stronger. Others might have a very different reaction, but the hidden emotional
message is something that doesn t feel right to me. The picture uses a close up image of a
women s mouth. They purposely focus on a sexy part of the female body, while keeping distance
from direct sexual body parts. It is an over sexualized message hidden underneath the picture, so
that people wouldn t immediately draw that conclusion of sexualization. She is white, and young.
Her face is very angular, which is considered preferable in today s society and her skin is perfectly
smooth and symmetrical. She is fake perfection, since photo shop must have been

The Sun Also Rises Theme
Theme: In the 1926 novel, The Sun Also Rises, author Ernest Hemingway gives us an up close
look at The Lost Generation era. Hemingway demonstrates the detrimental aspects of war through
the constant conflicting subjects of love, masculinity and alcoholism. Throughout the book, love is
something that seems impossible after the traumatizing world war. Narrator and protagonist of the
novel, Jake Barnes, was injured in the war and reveals that he has suffered brain damage and can
no longer perform sexually. This struggle becomes more prominent as he and Lady Brett Ashley
fall in love. When reunited after their years of an on and off relationship, Jake and Brett confess
that they still have love for each other. Conversing more about their love,... Show more content on

Alcohol is the secondary factor to all of the character s problems, but it also seems to bring a bit
of relief to stressful situations. Ultimately though, alcohol plays a part in the alleviation of the
miserable characters. Jake especially is manages his suffering by drinking, Under the wine I lost
that disgusted feeling and was happy. It seemed they were all such nice people (150). Jake uses
alcohol to disappear his problems and feelings. He explains in this scene that alcohol clouds his
mind of reality. Alcohol acts as an escapism for the characters. Hemingway s association between
war and alcoholism is crucial to the story. Alcohol can also act as a tool for destruction as
presented by Jake when Brett first comes back into his life after a long time of traveling. He
admits, I was a little drunk. Not drunk in any positive sense but just enough to be careless (29).
Jake s description of his own drunkard self reveals that he is aware of his alcohol fixation. He
knows that it can make him reckless and sometimes even destructive but his broken ego and low
self esteem make it easy for him to pick up a glass. Alcohol drowns Jake s thoughts of his
inability to be with his true love, Brett. Without his friends in constant argument over Brett, Jake
sits down to have a drink by himself, I drank a bottle of wine for company. It was ChГҐteau
Margaux. It was pleasant to be drinking slowly and to be tasting the wine and to be

Preposition In Love One Another
Moreover, Keats displays how the knight has been blinded by love and cannot seem to come
back to reality. The women looked at the knight and made a Sweet moan , the oxymoron
juxtaposes the difference between the two words, as the pre modifier sweet can imply how she is
delighted but on the other hand the verb moan could show discomfort or suffering. Simultaneously,
the knight interprets his lover s words differently, just so he can feel loved and complete. This is
shown through the quote sure in language strange she said / I lovethee true. The juxtaposition
between sure and strange contradict each other as the woman is speaking in a language he
understands, yet he considers what she said as strange , as it is something that... Show more content

In the ballad La Belle Dame sans Merci and the three stanza poem I am not yours shows how a
person s need for affection can cause love to blindly guide them. The gloomy side of love is shown
through the dramatic monologue , My Last Duchess and in Always Marry An April Girl , as the
characters in the poems admire their lovers but they constantly complain and whine about them,
this shows that not all kinds of love are filled with devotion or passion for one another, instead it
displays how love can sometimes bring out the worst in people. While in A Mother In A Refugee
Camp ,the readers are introduced to familial and romantic love, which demonstrates the closer and
more intimate relationship people have when the feeling of love is mutual between two
individuals. Each poem has their own interpretation of love, whether it is wonderful or dreadful, it
shows that love is complex and beautiful and is filled with a great deal of warmth and

Amy Efaw
The book After, written by Amy Efaw, is an addictive, action packed book. The fiction story is
about a girl named Devon Sky Davenport who was pregnant, but in denial. She wakes up one
morning, sick, and stays home from school that day. That night, she gives birth at home by
herself, and throws the baby in the trash after putting it in a garbage bag. Devon goes to jail
where she makes friends and has to cooperate with her lawyer. Devon can t remember anything
from the night when she gave birth but as things start clicking into place, Devon realizes what she
has done, and starts having suicidal thoughts. Devon must tell her lawyer the details, although it is
hard, so she can be tried in a juvenile court and only get 5 years, but if she doesn t... Show more

The author uses a great deal of detail when describing characters. For example, the author wrote,
Yellow...yellow. The color of Devon s mom s hair. The color of a sun breaking through the flat
gray clouds. Of a lemon drop. Devon allows her eyes to droop closed for a moment. I can
distinctly imagine the appearance of the characters because the author uses the detail that he
does. The plot of this book moves quickly because she starts to remember things from That Night
from flashbacks that happen often. The text reads, She steps slightly closer to him, lets her
shoulder brush his arm as they walk hand in hand. Lets her hip bump into his. Once. Then.
Twice.... The author uses plenty of imagery when describing places and people. For example,
the author wrote, Devon s eyes skim over the room s three rectangular tables and finds that
vacant seat indicated. It s beside the pale girl with the breads. The girl scoots her chair back to
make room for Devon, presenting the seat with an open hand, her crooked smile creeping back
over her face. The author s tone in this book is stressful, and outraged. An example from the
story includes, No! Get out of here! Devon s mom lunges at the man, grabbing his shoulders
from behind, her long nails digging into his jacket. Get the hell out of here! Are you hearing
me? The other man, the one in the uniform, appears suddenly, pulling Devon s mom off of the
first man. The theme of this story is displacement. Devon is a girl who gets good grades, is
involved in sports, and gets her work done on time. She is not someone you would expect to be in
jail, and she is so much different from her peers in jail. I can apply this lesson in my life because if
I am ever in a place where I feel uncomfortable and out of place, I know that it will end soon. This
lesson will make a change in my future

Dada s Contribution to Contemporary Art
Dada and its impact on Contemporary Art According to the Oxford Dictionary of art, Dada was
A movement in European art (with manifestations also in New York), c.1915 c.1922,
characterized by a spirit of rebellious revolt against traditional values. It arose from a mood of
cynicism engendered by the First World War, to which some artists reacted with, cynicism,
sarcasm and nihilism. Gathering in Hugo Balls Cabaret Voltaire for spontaneous readings,
performances and exhibitions, a group of early avant gardes mainly of German and French origin,
formed the organization known as Dada. (Justin Wolf s Dada) Numerous explanations were given
for the group s name, Dada, which in French means Hobby Horse. The most... Show more content

This can sometimes seem odd to the public who does not see its values and heroic stature,
resulting in art not being noticed and appreciated by collectors, galleries and museums but
judged as a masterpiece by people who share the artist feelings and thoughts. Based on the
research above, we saw how Dada was formed, its members, its major centres, and major work
and how it led to the birth of the Surrealism, which ultimately had a positive direct effect on art of
the 21st century and how it is viewed, thus making contemporary art what it is today.

Matinees musicales were written purposely as a ballet. In the beginning, it was a subito dynamic
which occurred in 5 intervals, followed by a happy/cheery like piano dynamic theme that
represented the march. This part the ballerinas showed a light but fast footwork. Throughout the
composition the beat was recurring to the movement before it and in some instances it mimic the
beat but in lower rather in a higher level. There were five movements in Matinees, the March,
noctume, waltz, pantomime and moto perpetuo. A moto perpetuo is another name for perpetuum

equal length. Along with Benjamin Britten also included Soirees musicales, Op.9. Was a suite of
five movements beginning with the march, cansonetta, tirolese, bolero, tarantella; that came from
different parts of the musicales. The march was a grand subito with a fast tempo following the
canzonetta that was more ritantando of the rhythm and a lullaby timbre; tirolese was more of a
happy tone color and with 4 beat changes that range from high to low; bolero has that folk theme to
it and tarantella was a grand rhythm with triple meter. Britten had a sense of humor which explains

We are all familiar with the phrase, A little birdie told me. But where did that birdie get his

Classical Characteristics Of Baroque Art
Beginning with the Baroque period, the Baroque was an art movement in the 17th and early
18th century which comes after the Renaissance before the Enlightenment, Neoclassicism. It s
origins, like renaissance art, were in Italy and the historical context really have is two historical
movements that are associated with the Baroque. First, the Counter Reformation and second,
Absolutism. As far as the Baroque tradition it represents a rejection of renaissance restraint.
When looking at the School of Athens by Raphael, we can see this very technically perfect
painting from the Renaissance where it looks like it could ve been posed for which is what
renaissance art is, restraint, that you are supposed to think about balance in the composition,
and you re supposed to hold something back. Renaissance art was not very emotional. One thing
we should note is this painting of Aneas Fleeing Burning Troy by Federico Baroccci, is not
restraint. We see a bunch of running around, burning fires, it s not balanced, and there s more
action, but at the same time we still see this framework of classical themes. When looking at
Baroque art, we ll still be able to see themes that are very religious or grounded in the Greco
Roman classical traditions. More characteristics of Baroque art we can see are motion, emotion,
grandeur, and contrast. A piece of work where we can see almost all of these characteristics would
be St. Michael the Archangel by Guido Reni. We see St. Michael trampling the devil,

Romanticism is where traditional people being seen as presenting a better past when humans

uncovered is when Neytiri (Na vi princess) teaching Juke Sully the most proficient method to

Violence in today s society is at an all time high. There are many causes for the increase in
violence in our society. Violence is defined by (1) criminal law, the illegal use of unjustified force,
or the intimidating effect created by the threat of this (2) the use of physical force to injure
somebody or damage something (Encarta Dictionary: English North American Version). Rape,

Paul most clearly displays his strength on the each of these levels when a bombardment begins
to rip apart the graveyard in which he and his comrades had been resting. A single reading of the
passage reveals the first level upon which Paul excels: as a soldier. His training in No. 9 platoon
under Corporal Himmelstoss made sure that he would not be killed the moment he stepped foot
in the trenches, but the knowledge that he displays in this time of crisis did not come from
parade grounds or noncommissioned officers; it came from months of trench warfare, from
experience under fire, and from the natural instinct to make the right choices when it matters
most. From the beginning of the passage, one can observe Paul s course of action: he does not
think, he reacts. From the moment the first shell lands, he begins gathering information: By the
light of the shells I try to get a view of the fields (66). When his sleeve is torn away, he does not
trust the fact that he feels no pain. Paul thinks: the fact that [I feel no pain] does not reassure me:
wounds don t hurt until afterwards. I feel the arm all over. It is grazed but sound (66). His actions
reveal some of his soldiering merit, but not all.
Aside from his explicit actions, Paul s implicit thoughts reveal

Weight Watchers Research Paper
I knew about Weight Watchers way before Oprah started endorsing it! I remember learning about
the weight loss plan in my early twenties from one of my friends. I watched her jump from one
diet to another unsuccessfully, until she tried Weight Watchers. Weight Watchers is diet plan that
was invented in the early 60 s by an overweight housewife named Jean Nidetch. Like most
Americans she was tired of denying herself cabs, desserts and whatever else she wanted to eat for
the cost of losing weight.
Weight Watchers has become a household name, it has over 30 million members and is used in
many countries. I think one of the biggest reasons why Weight Watchers has been able to stick
around is because of their weekly meetings. During those weekly members talk about their weight
loss goals, share eating tips, exercise, and they also discuss behavioral changes that are necessary
to attaining a healthier lifestyle. Losing weight is not easy, but when you have the support of a
group, it goes a long way. Weight Watchers promises you can eat whatever your heart desires, in
moderation, of course. It follows a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For one, it is not safe for children. The program s strict point system would not fit a child s daily

consuming the amount needed for a child s diet. I think they would either eat too much of certain

their nutritional needs not being met with the Weight Watchers diet I think that introducing a child
to such a strict diet while they are still developing can hurt them psychologically. The diet plan s

Sisyphus Deception
Albert Camus, a French philosopher who tries to decipher a meaningful world through the trails

man s struggle to belong, an endless journey to achieve, and a glimpse of his own fate. Sisyphus is
the absurd hero. He is, as much through his passions as through his torture . (Camus, The Myth of

There is scarcely any person without struggle. (Camus, The Myth of Sisyphus) Sisyphus is a
devious mortal creature who is willing to betray his fellow man. Having minimal respect for his

Just as Sisyphus deceived his own wife, man deceives man. Somehow, man can look past his
deception and justify it with the thought process that their deception has not hurt anyone. There is a
multitude of scenarios in which I find myself like Sisyphus but it is the one man who changes those
patterns. It is the one man who finds himself, moving away from the norm and what society
portrays as truth. When that man emerges, it is difficult but courageous. It is a meaningful
transformation that will assist in helping others find who they were meant to be.
There is no fate that can not be surmounted by scorn. (Camus, The Myth Of Sisyphus) Having a

Why do we observe and assess
Children are observed in order to acquire information regarding learning unlikely to be seen
through testing. Clark and Moss (2001 in ST9), for example, suggest that observation helps to build
a complete picture of a child. From a sociocultural perspective, teachers who subsequently adapt
practice, following analysis of observation, ensure opportunities are provided for children to link
new experiences to previous learning, therefore working within the child s zone of proximal
development . Throughout observation it is important that no preconceived judgements are held.
Pollard (2008 in ST6) suggests that observations should be descriptive, dispassionate, discerning
and diagnostic, thus meaning observations will be objective . School staff will often use

History Of American Medical Ethics
While the history of American medical ethics dates back four centuries (Baker, 2013), it is critical
to differentiate between what was strictly medical ethics; the ethics between physician and patient,
physician and physician, and physician and community versus bioethics: all of the aforementioned
with the addition of scientific research involving human subjects ...in reaction to researchers
exploitation of vulnerable populations, most notably the 399 African American males deceived
into serving as research subjects by the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS) in its Tuskegee, a

other medical professionals (midwives, nurses), traditionally rendered services based on a sizeable
range of oaths and codes that aimed for just care and treatment of patients. The Belmont Report
articulated not only what was morally outrageous about the Tuskegee Study, identifying that Earlier
American ideals of just treatment differ from those expounded in the Belmont Report (Baker), but
became the origination for bioethics. Baker expounds that social unrest and morally disruptive
technologies furthered the exponential growth of as well as the recognition of the importance of
the field of bioethics. Since then, the medical and research communities have understood the
necessity of teaching and incorporating bioethics into the educationof future practitioners of

A Brief Note On The And Licensed Contractors
In August of 2014, Hurricane Iselle hit the Island of Hawaii, where I live. She was violent and
mean as she swept across our shores. In her wake, our electricity and telephone lines went down.
I wondered for weeks as the telephone and electricity repair crew worked 24 hours, seven days a
week trying to restore service to all of us in need. Despite the drawbacks of broken power lines,
fallen trees, and no water, I felt confident that those repairing the lines were certified electricians
and licensed contractors. Our lives today are filled with a vast number of products with some
kind of implanted computer part and software program. We used to enjoy the slumber of using a
basic analog phone or television. Remember the IBM Selecta, manual calculators, and books
that you can check out at the library to read? How about something as simple as boiling eggs on
an old fashion firewood stove? The point being, we have evolved as a technological dependent
society. It was like a storm that swept over the world. It came fast and fierce. Business today are
experiencing major problems finding qualified, trained, and certified computer technicians,
engineers, and employees do what is needed, to meet those demands. There are many different
types of certifications to consider. The list includes: CCNA, CCNP, Citrix, Comptia A+, Comptia

Introduction Before understanding the research to be conducted, one must understand the who,
what, when, and why of the issue. Many people know and understand that with a better education
they will have a better chance in succeeding in the business world. Getting a good paying job

According to Bureau of Justice Statistics (2012), Recidivism is measured by criminal acts that
resulted in the rearrests, reconviction, or return to prison with or without a new sentence during a
three year period following the prisoner s release (Recidivism, par. 1).
If the hypothesis is confirmed the theory will suggest that the lower the education level of an
individual, the more apt that individual is to having a hard time finding work. If an individual,
who has been to prison or jail, gets released into society with a low education level they will have
a hard time finding a job. If this individual cannot find a job they will most likely turn to crime to
get money to support themselves or their families, thus proving that the lower the education rate the
higher the recidivism rate is.
If the hypothesis is not confirmed it will suggest that there is no connection between education
levels and recidivism rates back into jail or prison. If not proved the hypothesis will also show that
individuals released back into society turn back to crime for other reasons and not anything to do
with their education levels, thus proving that education levels have no effect on recidivism rates.
Background/Literature review Recidivism is the result of a former prisoner relapsing into criminal
activity and returning to prison for a new offense. It is estimated that approximately two thirds of

The Core Beliefs Of The Anglo-Saxons In Beowulf
The core beliefs and the things the anglo saxons saw as important are clear throughout the story
of beowulf. The anglo saxons believed in strong loyalty to each other and to the leader. The anglo
saxons also had a pagan background and saw warriors as high members of society. All these beliefs
and core values are exhibited in beowulf.
Beowulf has a strong anglo saxon values sprinkled through it including a strong sense of loyalty.
This sense of loyalty shows up time and time again within beowulf. One of the most notable
times loyalty is brought up in beowulf is in The Last Battle. Wiglaf is the character used to show
loyalty. Beowulf is in a battle and his soldiers leave out of fear, Wiglaf decides that the most
loyal and honorable thing to do is go help his king fight. Even though his chances of survival are

While Socialism (equality) sounds as if it were a better economic system than capitalism (equity), it
is not. With history proving that Capitalism is a better economic system. If you look at the cold war
between the U.S.S.R (a socialist country) and the U.S.A (a capitalist country) for world power, it
becomes obvious that the capitalism is better economic system then socialism. As the U.S.S.R lost

Analysis Of My Cousin Vinny
The movie My Cousin Vinny follows two young men, Bill and Stan, as they embark on their
journey to UCLA. Along the way, they become hungry and decide to stop at the Sack Of Suds,
an unassuming little convenience store in Alabama, to buy a few refreshments. After leaving

He was then sold at a market place for four gallons of rum and a piece of calico. This is when he

individual, Olaudah Equiano, was captured in Nigeria. He was taken by ship across the Middle
Passage. Once he was put aboard the ship, the crew roughed him up some in order to test his
fortitude. Having looked around his situation, he noticed the other slaves were very dejected. He
passed out and awoke with members of the party that had sold him around him. He was afraid
he was being sold to be eaten, but was assured he was not. He was led to the lower decks of the
ship. The stench and disgust of the area were more than he could take. Olaudah became
depressed and fell very sick. He often wished that death would come and take him. Once the
cargo ship was fully loaded, the space was exceedingly limited. He was beaten for not eating and
whipped hourly. After finding some of his own nation, he was told that they were being taken to
a white man s country to work. This was some relief to him. He soon became so weak that he
was brought to the deck and allowed to stay there. This was a minor relief as he had to witness
those that were brought form below at near death. During a period of calm seas, several slaves
successfully jumped ship. The crew was quick to react and made all slaves go below deck. After

Another similarity between William Bradford and Dekanawida is the rules that they enforced
when leading their people. Both sets of rules and laws were centered around avoiding violence
and preserving the wellbeing of the society. In the Iroquois Constitution, Dekanawida states,
People of the Five Nations members of a certain clan shall recognize every other member of that
clan, irrespective of the Nation, as relatives. which basically means that tribe members should
treat each other kindly. Bradford probably had similar rules in the Plymouth Colony. These rules
are what allowed the success of the two groups. The final similarity between William Bradford
and Dekanawida is their belief in destiny. They both believe that a higher force is what led them
to take initiative. ...as by God s good providence they did. That quote from Of Plymouth
Plantation shows Bradford s belief in destiny. He believes that providence led him to take on his
role as a leader. Dekanawida s beliefs come mostly from his past. He even said that It is my
business to stop the shedding of blood among human beings. He interpreted events from his
childhood as a sign that he should continue living and unite the tribes. Both of those quotes
demonstrate how Bradford and Dekanawida believed in their own

three representations.
The name Cleopatra invokes a striking image in your mind. The Egyptian queen who took on the
might of Rome. The way we see Cleopatra s character changes in the way she has been depicted in
movies and television across the years. With each different portrayal she reflects contemporary

Her skin is darker and her hair is shorter and covered in various head dresses. In character she is
shrews and calculating and unafraid and skilled at using a weapon. This reflects how society has
changed and how the role of women has change over the years. Women are seen as more able
equal in skill and ability to men. It also showed the difference in knowledge of ancient Egypt; still
seen as luxurious the alliance was needed by Rome for strategic reasons.
Whilst all three depictions of Cleopatra show opulence, luxury and a sexually proactive and
powerful stateswoman. It is how perception of these roles has changed over the years which

The most hardest one to work on has to be peer resistance skills. I usually sometimes give up
very easily, for example when I can t get a problem right and I keep trying, I would give up and
guess. I have been working on it about a couple weeks, and it had improved by doing problems
until I know it is right.. I still believe peer resistance skills is my weakness since I usually keep
going back in forth about giving up and not giving up over simple things. Usually when
something very upsetting comes up, I usually get upset a long period of time. Coping skills is
difficult to deal with too but easy to make a solution for. For example, you can knit, read, listen
to music, talk to friends, and etc. These skills are really hard to handle but I think I could make
them into my strengths if I work hard and believe in myself. Strengths and weaknesses can be a
struggle at a period of time. If you only focus on one point of a subject, you might not realize
your other subjects will be weak. Weaknesses can be easily handle but people don t know how to
react. This is where the term, goals can solve for both strengths and weaknesses. For an example,
you could set a goal to work on your communication skills by talking to your classmates or close
friends. It doesn t matter if it s a long term goal or a short term since, you would work hard for one
or more goals you have in mind. The seven life

Thoth Research Paper
The gods and goddesses of Greek culture correlate with those of other ancient polytheistic
cultures. Athena was the Greek goddess of wisdom, war and weaving, and one of the few female
wisdom gods in ancient cultures (Cartwright 1). In Mesopotamian culture, the goddess of wisdom,
arts, crafts and magic was known as Ea or Enki (Mark, Enki 1). Thoth was the Egyptian god of
wisdom, magic, and writing. Egyptians considered him one of the most important gods of their

Similarly, Thoth, the Egyptian God, was born from the forehead of Set, a leader among the
Egyptian gods. Unlike Athena, Thoth created himself through the Seed of Horus before erupting
from Set (Mark, Thoth 1). Enki was born, unlike the others, in the usual manner. His parents were
the Sun God, Anu and Namunu, the mother goddess (Mark, Enki 3). Athena and Thoth s birth
from the head symbolize their wisdom and focus on knowledge. Athena s physical appearance
contradicts that of Thoth, but is comparable to that of Enki. Athena s femininity distinguish her
from the other gods of wisdom. She, like the other Greek gods, has the body and appearance of a
human being, but her beauty outshadowed those of the humans. Enki had wings and a long beard,
but otherwise has a human figure. He looked as though he was an elderly philosopher, which was
fitting because he was the holder of all knowledge in the Mesopotamian culture. Thoth s head was
that of a blue bird, and his body was muscular. He did not have human beauty and was known for
being inhumanly strong. The masters of wisdom s beauty and grace reveal that they are more than
human, even if they appear as though they are merely mortal

Mechanisms of neurotoxicity of Aluminum

The chemical compounds of Aluminum usually appear in the trivalent state of the molecule (Al3+)
(House et al. 2010). The human exposition to Aluminum occurs mainly through alimentation,
inhalation; it can also occur through drinking water, cosmetics and medicaments. (Greger et
al.,1992). The occupational exposures to this metal occurs in mining and processing, also in the

The reason for the high concentration of Aluminum in the patient s body can be the ingestion of
aluminum hydroxide that is found in the medicine of the dialysis treatment. (Alfrey, 1796). Also,
Aluminum is difficult to be dialyzable in the blood, because it is strongly bounded with proteins,
and this makes it difficult to the membrane of the dialysis machine to remove the Aluminum of the
patient s body (Drueke T. 1980).
The Aluminum also interferes in the Na+/K+ATPase, a protein that appears in high quantity in the
neurons and in the glial cells. The main function of this protein in the brain is related with the
fluidity of the membranes and the regulation of the excitability of the neurons and the maintainence
of eletrochemicals gradient. (Roesky et al., 2002). The Aluminum inhibits the activity of the
Na+K+ATPase, which is a target of the oxidative stress of the neuron, and this oxidative stress is a
consequence of Alzheimer s. (Roesky, 2002).
The Aluminum is related to Alzheimer. Elevated levels of Aluminum in the brain can be a
consequence of the Alzheimer disease. When you have the Alzheimer disease, the
hematoencephalic barrier s efficacy is reduced, and Aluminum gets in the brain easily (McLachlan).
High level of Aluminum in the brain causes the formation of neurofibrilar tangles (the main

Theme Of The Interlopers And The Machine That Won The War
The Interlopers and The Machine That Won The War are two different short stories that heavily
push the themes of irony and suspense and although they may share these similarities I believe
that they also have many differences. Throughout this essay I am going to be breaking down these
two stories to find what sort of similarities and differences they contain. A similarity? They are
both fictional stories. A difference? One takes place in a Sci fi and futuristic setting, while the
other takes place in a more modern, or possibly older time frame.
Although two stories can have a similar overall genre, they may have a different and more specific
genre. A good example of this is the stories, The Interlopers and The Machine That Won The War.
Both of these stories are works of fiction, none of the events that take place in either of them are
real. On closer inspection we realize that although they are both fiction, they are different types of
fiction. The Interlopers is a mystery. The story starts by explaining that in time past two
neighboring families went to court over they strip of land between them, to find out which family
owned it. When they court reached their decision and chose which family won, they losing family,
frustrated that they didn t get the land, started a rivalry that would last generations. They mystery?
Who are they families and why are they still fighting over this land, years and years later. The

Frederick Douglass Vs. Harriet Jacobs
Frederick Douglass v. Harriet Jacobs We are not Americans; we are Africans who happen to be in
America. We were kidnapped and brought here against out will from Africa. We did not land on
Plymouth rock that rock landed on us ( Malcolm X ). Slavery began when Americans brought
Africans to Virginia in 1619 to complete any field work that plantation owners did not want to do
themselves (History.com Staff). Slaverylasted in America for 246 years and even after, African
Americans were still treated with disrespect from the white community. One of the many darkest
and depressing events in the history of the United States was the practice of slavery. Two of the
most famous slave narrative writers during the last three decades of legal slavery were Frederick
Douglass and Harriet Jacobs. Douglass was an American abolitionist, author and orator. He was
born into slavery for roughly 20 years until he gained the courage to escape to the north and gain
freedom (History.com Staff). Upon gaining his freedom, he created a friendship with an
abolitionist known as William Lloyd Garrison. After getting to know how strong and intelligent
Douglass was after all the years he spent as a slave, William persuaded Douglass into writing one of
the most eloquent slave narratives, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, that told the
story about his experience good and bad as a slave (History.com Staff). Harriet Jacobs was born
into slavery in 1813 for 23 years when she went into hiding for

  • 2. Miller And Liz Aldermen Analysis I think all women should have a choice in anything they do. The choice between having a career, family or both is a discussion they should not take lightly and weigh all their options. They should also take everyone in account, including the children. Women also have to be careful not to be caught up in the superwomen syndrome. This is when career women scrambling to run two lives one at home and one at work. They want to be good wives and mothers, but they also want to be intellectually stimulated by a challenging career or at least bring in a second income to help their households get by. In the New York Post article Why U.S. Women are leaving their jobs behind Clair Cain Miller and Liz Aldermen write about women having to choose between having a family or career. • 3. My Passion In Computer Science I still remember the day, I first used a computer at my uncle s house in the summer of 2000. As a boy of 8, I was astonished to see the interaction between a television like object and some keys. From that day, I believe, deep passion for computer grew inside me. A few years later when I got acquainted with the internet, Computer Science became my most favorite topic. Being amazed by the potentiality of the internet, I attended a Web Development course after completing high school. Since then I took Web Development seriously, committed myself to it and decided to study Computer Science. From the very beginning of undergraduate studies, I have been one of the most excellent programmers of my class. Programming and related courses seemed much more interesting than others to me. Specifically, Programming Languages, Programming Language Structure, Compiler Design courses helped me to have a solid understanding of different types of programming languages and their insights. Besides, I learned to organize any problem into small parts and solve any problem much efficiently from Data Structure and Algorithm course. Alongside academic studies, I also got myself involved in professional Web Development and extra curricular activities. I found particular interest in Front end Development. To push my limits further, I also started participating in different apps competitions and competing with the leading developers of Bangladesh. Key factors that influence success of NIKE If a company is able to establish brand awareness, they will have a significant advantage in grabbing consumer s attention and, therefore, market share. In today s society where consumers have significantly less time to shop and compare, brand awareness is critical. If an established brand name effectively conveys the messages of quality and dependability, consumers will automatically go to that brand relying on the image that has been created when they don t have time to shop around. Manufacturing efficiency is something that companies are constantly striving for as well. Athletic shoe manufacturers must balance the costs of labor, raw materials, shipping, import tariffs, and technological advancements. In an effort to keeps costs down, the industry has been looking to overseas sourcing. This reduces the risk of losing revenue if one region which a manufacturer incurs problems. Favorable legislation regarding foreign manufacturing has led to a huge increase in foreign sourcing. Overseas production and sourcing can lower material, and labor costs. I watched them with a look of shock on my face. The way they portray women, in such an over sexualized way, was shocking to me. Compared to where I come from, America is relatively closed when talking about topics surrounding sex. This use of women and sex in the media is a recurring theme that I have seen in my years of living in the United States. I am glad that I can now share, in a school assignment a different cultural view of this topic. When looking for an advertisement to do my essay on, this one stood out. This brought up the argument of the sexualisation women in the media today. The creator of the ad uses Burger Kings reputation and brand name to establish credibility. He speaks to an emotional appeal with the choice of picture, and subject in the picture used. His connection made with Band Aids and bigger leads to an logical approach of why their burgers are the biggest and best. This ad immediately got my attention, in a negative way. When further analyzing the picture, my feelings only got stronger. Others might have a very different reaction, but the hidden emotional message is something that doesn t feel right to me. The picture uses a close up image of a women s mouth. They purposely focus on a sexy part of the female body, while keeping distance from direct sexual body parts. It is an over sexualized message hidden underneath the picture, so that people wouldn t immediately draw that conclusion of sexualization. She is white, and young. • 9. The Sun Also Rises Theme Theme: In the 1926 novel, The Sun Also Rises, author Ernest Hemingway gives us an up close look at The Lost Generation era. Hemingway demonstrates the detrimental aspects of war through the constant conflicting subjects of love, masculinity and alcoholism. Throughout the book, love is something that seems impossible after the traumatizing world war. Narrator and protagonist of the novel, Jake Barnes, was injured in the war and reveals that he has suffered brain damage and can no longer perform sexually. This struggle becomes more prominent as he and Lady Brett Ashley fall in love. When reunited after their years of an on and off relationship, Jake and Brett confess that they still have love for each other. Conversing more about their love,... Ultimately though, alcohol plays a part in the alleviation of the miserable characters. Jake especially is manages his suffering by drinking, Under the wine I lost that disgusted feeling and was happy. It seemed they were all such nice people (150). Jake uses alcohol to disappear his problems and feelings. He explains in this scene that alcohol clouds his mind of reality. Alcohol acts as an escapism for the characters. Hemingway s association between war and alcoholism is crucial to the story. Alcohol can also act as a tool for destruction as presented by Jake when Brett first comes back into his life after a long time of traveling. He admits, I was a little drunk. Not drunk in any positive sense but just enough to be careless (29). Jake s description of his own drunkard self reveals that he is aware of his alcohol fixation. He knows that it can make him reckless and sometimes even destructive but his broken ego and low self esteem make it easy for him to pick up a glass. Alcohol drowns Jake s thoughts of his inability to be with his true love, Brett. The women looked at the knight and made a Sweet moan , the oxymoron juxtaposes the difference between the two words, as the pre modifier sweet can imply how she is delighted but on the other hand the verb moan could show discomfort or suffering. Simultaneously, the knight interprets his lover s words differently, just so he can feel loved and complete. This is shown through the quote sure in language strange she said / I lovethee true. She wakes up one morning, sick, and stays home from school that day. That night, she gives birth at home by herself, and throws the baby in the trash after putting it in a garbage bag. Devon goes to jail where she makes friends and has to cooperate with her lawyer. Devon can t remember anything from the night when she gave birth but as things start clicking into place, Devon realizes what she has done, and starts having suicidal thoughts. The author uses a great deal of detail when describing characters. For example, the author wrote, Yellow...yellow. The color of Devon s mom s hair. The color of a sun breaking through the flat gray clouds. Of a lemon drop. Devon allows her eyes to droop closed for a moment. I can distinctly imagine the appearance of the characters because the author uses the detail that he does. The plot of this book moves quickly because she starts to remember things from That Night from flashbacks that happen often. The text reads, She steps slightly closer to him, lets her shoulder brush his arm as they walk hand in hand. Lets her hip bump into his. Once. Then. Twice.... The author uses plenty of imagery when describing places and people. For example, the author wrote, Devon s eyes skim over the room s three rectangular tables and finds that vacant seat indicated. It s beside the pale girl with the breads. The girl scoots her chair back to make room for Devon, presenting the seat with an open hand, her crooked smile creeping back over her face. The author s tone in this book is stressful, and outraged. An example from the story includes, No! Get out of here! Devon s mom lunges at the man, grabbing his shoulders from behind, her long nails digging into his jacket. Get the hell out of here! Are you hearing me? The other man, the one in the uniform, appears suddenly, pulling Devon s mom off of the first man. The theme of this story is displacement. Devon is a girl who gets good grades, is involved in sports, and gets her work done on time. She is not someone you would expect to be in jail, and she is so much different from her peers in jail. I can apply this lesson in my life because if I am ever in a place where I feel uncomfortable and out of place, I know that it will end soon. This lesson will make a change in my future ... • 15. Classical Characteristics Of Baroque Art Beginning with the Baroque period, the Baroque was an art movement in the 17th and early 18th century which comes after the Renaissance before the Enlightenment, Neoclassicism. It s origins, like renaissance art, were in Italy and the historical context really have is two historical movements that are associated with the Baroque. First, the Counter Reformation and second, Absolutism. As far as the Baroque tradition it represents a rejection of renaissance restraint. When looking at the School of Athens by Raphael, we can see this very technically perfect painting from the Renaissance where it looks like it could ve been posed for which is what renaissance art is, restraint, that you are supposed to think about balance in the composition, and you re supposed to hold something back. Renaissance art was not very emotional. One thing we should note is this painting of Aneas Fleeing Burning Troy by Federico Baroccci, is not restraint. We see a bunch of running around, burning fires, it s not balanced, and there s more action, but at the same time we still see this framework of classical themes. When looking at Baroque art, we ll still be able to see themes that are very religious or grounded in the Greco Roman classical traditions. More characteristics of Baroque art we can see are motion, emotion, grandeur, and contrast. A piece of work where we can see almost all of these characteristics would be St. Michael the Archangel by Guido Reni. We see St. Michael trampling the devil, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Paul most clearly displays his strength on the each of these levels when a bombardment begins to rip apart the graveyard in which he and his comrades had been resting. A single reading of the passage reveals the first level upon which Paul excels: as a soldier. His training in No. 9 platoon under Corporal Himmelstoss made sure that he would not be killed the moment he stepped foot in the trenches, but the knowledge that he displays in this time of crisis did not come from parade grounds or noncommissioned officers; it came from months of trench warfare, from experience under fire, and from the natural instinct to make the right choices when it matters most. From the beginning of the passage, one can observe Paul s course of action: he does not think, he reacts. From the moment the first shell lands, he begins gathering information: By the light of the shells I try to get a view of the fields (66). When his sleeve is torn away, he does not trust the fact that he feels no pain. Paul thinks: the fact that [I feel no pain] does not reassure me: wounds don t hurt until afterwards. According to Bureau of Justice Statistics (2012), Recidivism is measured by criminal acts that resulted in the rearrests, reconviction, or return to prison with or without a new sentence during a three year period following the prisoner s release (Recidivism, par. 1). If the hypothesis is confirmed the theory will suggest that the lower the education level of an individual, the more apt that individual is to having a hard time finding work. If an individual, who has been to prison or jail, gets released into society with a low education level they will have a hard time finding a job. If this individual cannot find a job they will most likely turn to crime to get money to support themselves or their families, thus proving that the lower the education rate the higher the recidivism rate is. If the hypothesis is not confirmed it will suggest that there is no connection between education levels and recidivism rates back into jail or prison. If not proved the hypothesis will also show that individuals released back into society turn back to crime for other reasons and not anything to do with their education levels, thus proving that education levels have no effect on recidivism rates.
