Write An Essay On Blood Borne Pathogens
Blood borne Pathogens The OSHA blood borne pathogens guidelines are a way for employees to
know the health hazards and risks associated with the exposure to blood borne pathogens. This job
deals with a high level of handling blood and therefore employers are held to the BBP standard.
OSHA estimates that 5.6 million workers in the healthcare industry and related occupations are at
risk of occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens, including HIV, HBV, HCV, and others. All
occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious material, places workers at risk for
infection with blood borne pathogens. OSHA defines blood to mean human blood, human blood

Family Planning And Poverty
The mainstreaming of the family planning agenda in many countries over the decades has been
accompanied by increased researcher interest in the subject, with a lot of research attention being
focused on the link between family planning and poverty. Empirical research studies using standard
economic models have demonstrated that increased access to familyplanning services is associated
with lower rates of poverty. This effect has been posited as occurring through a number of channels.
The first channel is the family size channel. As per this channel, increased access to family planning
reduces the number of children per family, which results into parents devoting more time and
resources per child, and occasioning higher per child investment that should lead to material
decline in household poverty (Bailey, Malkova and McLaren, 2013). The second channel is the
household income channel. Here, increased access to family planning services helps to free up
more resources, which can then be invested in the improvement of the human capital of the
parents. For instance, delaying parenthood can enable the soon to be parents to pursue further
education, gain more work experience, or enroll for further job training, and thus raise their
lifetime earnings levels (Bailey, Malkova and Norling, 2014). For instance, Bailey, Hershbein, and
Miller (2012) demonstrated that women who had access to the pill were able to delay motherhood
and to invest in their careers, resulting in higher wage

Emirates has delivered solid growth and solid financial performance for years. Why? What is
behind Emirates success? б№њecently, on May 20th 2014, the Air French KLM announced their

Twice a day, once from 12 a.m. 2 a.m. and again from 6 a.m. 8 a.m., a spike of passengers
deplaned from points west for a two hour window to connect to their east bound flights. These
spikes strained the airport s capacity, but they were essential to allow connecting passengers the
widest possible choice of connections from points east to west13. Emirates growth into new
markets produced some additional peak period hiccups. Strategic Expansion: The strategic
move of placing a planning department to forecast major growth regions and placed orders for
the number of new planes it expected to use. Once the planes were confirmed, the planning team
examined the overall fleet, the available craft currently in use, and how many planes remained.
This base was then used to determine whether to add capacity to existing routes or launch a new
route. If case of the former option, Emirates determined whether to add new service to an existing
route or to swap out a service s existing plane with a larger and newer craft. Emirates relied on
only three types of aircraft, because of which planes could be deployed onto existing routes to
supply much more easily to match the demand. Strategic Alliances with Manufacturer: Existing
plane models with Emirates in the end of 20th century, could only fly distances of up to 14 hours,
due to which they were not able to connect to the key potential

Why Not Have A Co-President Instead Of A Vice President
Vice President Everyone is familiar with the president of the United States and his role in the
government, but not is as familiar with the vice president. Believe it or not, the vice president has
more responsibilities than take over, if an accident happens to the president. Three Vice Presidents
in particular have recently molded the office: Al Gore, Dick Cheney, and Joe Biden. Why not have
a co presidentinstead of a vice president anyway? If that were the case, things could be devastating.
According to the Constitution of the United States, there are only two specified roles of the vice
president. One of them enables the vice president to be the deciding vote in the case of a tie in the
Senate. The other specified role requires

A Good Example Of Environment
An industries environment allows organizations to survive and strive by undertaking the
opportunities presented to them and overcoming the threats that may come in its way. A good
example of environment influence would be the opportunity presented to smartphone application
writers created by organizations such as Apple and Samsung with the lines of smart phones Iphone
and Samsung Galaxy and at the same time a threat to newspaper companies, as the usage of online
sources of information increases.
The study of strategic management, through the use of various frameworks, gives organizations the

Firstly the political environment refers to the influence governments may have on the industry s
environment. When looking at Ryanair, an airlinewith 1,600 routes around the european union
and north africa, legislation varies between governments of different countries, forcing them to
adapt to the different tax policies between countries such as Spain and Morocco, however
government taxes don t vary as much given most flights are within the EU however there is
passenger service charge, which some airports have which is a charge made by the airport
authority to an airline for the use of the terminal, runway, emergency services, security facilities
(Ryanair, 2015). Furthermore there is a legislation on the maximum hours a pilot can fly for,
which forces Ryanair to hire more employees. Additionally any passengers on flights which are
delayed or cancelled have the right to refund, hence the self pride Ryanair have on being the best
on time airline with 91% OF RYANAIR FLIGHTS ON TIME IN JUNE (Ryanair,2015).
Secondly the economic influences of the framework can vary from the exchange rates to taxes to
economic growth. Due to the economic crisis suffered by the EU, oil prices have seen a rise in

In the book In Cold Blood we meet Perry Edward Smith one of the men accused of killing the
Clutter family. Perry is a unique man for how he see the world and how the world sees him.
Although the townspeople and those who had heard of the murder only saw Parry as a murder.
There is however one man who sees Perry more than he appeared to be and that man was Truman
Capote. Perry had an interesting life from how he was raised, becoming friends with Richard
Eugene Hickock, to the murder of the Clutter family, all the way to Capote writing about him and
the trail he and Dick must face. It was Capote who brought the idea that Perry was not a bad

Perry was no monster but the victim of some and the witness of true monsters.
Perry would meet Richard (best known as Dick to most who knew him) while spending time in
the Kansas State Prison, in Lansing Kansas. The two had created a bond that would only bring
Perry s worst out. While in prison Dick told Perry of a Family who had 10,000 dollars in a safe.
When asked where he had heard this dick replied his former cellmate, Floyd Wells, who had
worked as a farm hand for the family. It was After Dick was released in 1959 that the two decided
to rob the Clutter family.
When the two went the Clutter s home and Ransacked the home they discovered there was no
safe and no money. It was after the money was not found the killings began. Perry would say
Dick had killed the two women yet, he would not sign his confession. The reason for this was
that Perry had felt some sort of greiff for Dick s Mother who he described as a real sweet person.
However Perry would later say I didn t want to harm the man. I thought he was a very nice
gentleman. Soft spoken about Mr. Clutter (Perry, pg. 244). These statements show Perry was not a
bad person nor a psychopath for he felt remorse and was also trying to protect a man he thought
was his friend.
Though Perry may have been involved it is clear that Dick was the real leader in this, for Perry did
not go to the farm without Dick, he wait for his leaders release. Not only did he wait for his release

Cedar Point Essay
Cedar Point Cedar Point is an amusement park visited by millions of people each year. I ve been
to Cedar Point a few times in my life and I always had so much fun there. What I never realized
though, was how long ago it opened. I also thought that Cedar Point had always been just an
amusement park. Soon I found out that I was wrong on both counts! I learned that there is a lot
more history of Cedar Point, the roller coastercapital of the world, than I thought. Before Cedar
Point became the number one rated amusement parkin the world, it was used mainly for hunting
and fishing. Later, a bathhouse, a dance floor, a small beer garden, and the Grand Pavilion was
added (Koehl). After that, it didn t take long for Cedar Point s very first roller coaster to be
added! And so, the history of thrill rides for Cedar Point had begun (Park History). Throughout
the years, Cedar Point has undergone many changes. In the Boeckling Era, George A. Boeckling
expanded the park drastically from 1897 all the way until 1931 when he passed away. Boeckling
opened hotels, added more rollercoasters, many different rides, a skating rink, a Coliseum,
fortunetellers, and many other attractions. After Boeckling passed away, it wasn t until the late 50 s

Antelope Valley Museum Report
Walking into the Antelope Valley Museum for the first time was breathtaking. I felt as though I
had just walked into the home of a true Native American Indian. I could literally smell the history
in the air, it smelled of dust and clay. With my first step through the door I immediately looked up
at the ceiling and noticed the most wonderful decorative paintings. I experienced many different
native paintings, handmade artifacts, and spiritual clothing. The walls were covered with
information regarding many different tribes and their many artifacts. Outside, I was lucky enough
to take part in an annual celebration with Native Peoples of many different tribes and backgrounds.
I observed and participated in cultural dances and storytelling by the hosts of the celebration. I
especially enjoyed these dances because I had gone to Elementary school with one... Show more

There were bowls, mortars and pestles sitting on the kitchen table as if they were waiting for the
owner of the home to come back any minute and prepare dinner. Typically museums have
everything behind glass or in display cases, but having them sitting on the table made it feel like
the home of a real person, not just a figure of history. I thought this was especially important
because it pushes the idea that people still live this way, rather than seeing Native Peoples as an
extinct culture. The first thing that caught my eye was the beautiful paintings hung on the living
room wall. The Navajo Indian paintings dated back to the 1930 s and 1940 s. Two specific
paintings stood out to me the most, and even confused me. A painting of a man on horseback and
one of a woman striking a sheep with a stick. They made me feel like these paintings were more
stereotypical than authentic. Thinking of Native American Indians, society pictured savages on
horseback, and that is exactly what these pictures

Title: Mixing the Old with the New
We ve worked hard to make The Lookout one of the most exciting and innovative communities in
Chelan. Whether you are looking to rent a vacation home or hoping to buy, living at The Lookout
offers the best in contemporary living. It might be fresh and new, but that doesn t mean you can t
step out every once in awhile and enjoy something from the past. Founded in 1902, the city of
Chelan offers an eclectic mix of the old and the new, and nothing in the area offers the best of both
worlds quite like the historic Ruby Theatre in downtown Chelan.
The Historic Ruby Theatre is a slice right out of yesteryear. Thought to be the oldest continuously
running theater in Washington state, this impressive stop on the National Register of Historic
Places first opened its doors to the public in the summer of 1914. Still sporting its original
balcony, tin ceiling, and proscenium arch, the Ruby Theatre looks much like it did in its early
years, when it was first showing silent movies from the golden days of Hollywood and before.
Although a few necessary changes have been made over the years, including a minor facelift and
renovation during the 1940s, the Ruby Theatre is still an iconic landmark that looks like something
straight out of a bygone era, and definitely worth a place on your Chelan bucket list. ... Show more

There is Only One Cleopatra
Almost every pharaoh queen was named Cleopatra, yet only one is ever thought of, Cleopatra
Thea Philopator VII, The Goddess and Beloved of her Father . Every moment of her life from 69
BCE until August 12, 30 BCE was a story larger than life, epic in scale, and over the top in its
grandeur. As the last reigning pharaoh of the Ptolemaic Dynastyin Ancient Egypt, she is
remembered for her ability to rule as a political genius and a strong female leader living in a
male dominated world despite all odds being against her. Firstly, Cleopatra grew up in the
Ptolemaic palace living a life of luxury, yet her subjects worshipped and even felt connected to
her as more than just their queen. Secondly, after Cleopatra was exiled by her incompetent
brother, Ptolemy XII, she came back with an army of mercenaries and took back Egypt to be its
sole and more qualified ruler. Lastly, Cleopatra went to any means to secure her power and to
ensure her nation s financial and political strength; therefore what started off as a strategic alliance
with Rome slowly became her dominance over most of the ancient world. Pharaohs for centuries
had put themselves on a pedestal, those in the Ptolemaic Dynasty rarely ever connected with their
subjects, but Cleopatra defied this ideology. The Ptolemies were descendants of a general in
Alexander the Great s military and therefore were aligned with Greek and Macedonian traditions.
Previously, Greek rulers and Egyptian subjects caused great division among the

Explain Why Did Tsar Nicholas II Face Problems From 1906...
Why did Tsar Nicholas II continue to face problems from 1906 to 1914?
After the 1905 Revolution, the Tsar got a little taste of what was to come if he did not change the
way the country functioned. However too little was done too late and after war was declared and
Stolypin s assassination it was almost certain that there would be no more tsarist regime.
Nicholas II promised in the October Manifesto that a duma may be set up, so he can get some
liberal support. This was the first time the Tsar has tried at a democratic government. However
what displeased the people is what the Tsar had done in April 1906. He passed on the Fundamental
Laws which basically allowed him to overrule any decision of the Duma and that he would keep
most of his autocratic power. It seemed that nothing has changed after the 1905 Revolution. The first

Many historians believe that if there was no World War I, Stolypin would be able to save Russiaby
resolving the peasant s discontent. As the peasants had no land of their own and the Mir was
creating major problems, the peasants were quite angry. Also they made up most of the
population, which showed that they must be taken seriously or they could do major damage to
the country. Stolypin gave the peasants the power to choose to leave the Mirs and join Kulaks
freely. Because of this there were some successes; record harvests in 1913 and production was
increasing however it depended on the region. The problem was that Stolypin was assassinated
and nobody was there to continue his reforms. However there were many peasants that were left
without anything and they were forced to go to towns and look for work. This new class of
peasants were dangerous as they were easy targets for radicalism. Also most of the land still was
owned by the high class and not a lot has changed. The peasants in Russia were not pleased as

Zombie Consumerism In White Noise by Don DeLillo
Addiction... it is a word that almost everyone is afraid of. The most common addictions are on:
cigarettes, drugs or alcohol. There are million cases all around the world connected with these
kinds of problems. People are concentrating on them and are not aware that there are less severe
kinds such as: Zombie Consumerism. When we buy without thinking, motivated by a super low
price, passion or enormous appetite we are guilty of Zombie Consumerism. Shopping is seen by
many addicts as a release from stress and pain, so it can be assumed the inner working cognitively
for a shopping addict would become similar to that of a drug addict or alcohol addict. The
characters in White Noise are victims of Zombie Consumerism.
One of the main themes around which the novel is structured is death. The characters in this novel
realize that they are surrounded by death and that there is no escape. Even though they are aware
that the death is brought to them upon the products they buy and it causes them to suffer both
physically and mentally, they are ignoring the fact and they turn to the illusive comfort that
consumerism provides. The characters turn to consumerism as a way of escaping death. The
products they buy create some kind of comfort and seem as a solution of many problems. They
become desperate because they believe that buying unnecessary products continuously will help
them with their hopeless situation. Good example for this situation is the drug Dylar. Babette starts

The Importance Of Love And Happiness
As a singer songwriter, Lana Del Rey, once said, When someone else s happiness is your happiness,
that is love. Love and happiness are two qualities that people seek in life; they are correlating
factors in people s lives, like mine, for example. These two qualities are part of the circle of life and
many believe that having the two factors in their life will lead to a good life.
Like many others, I seek for love and happiness as well, but at the same time, I am already
experiencing them. Generally speaking, I can experience these two factors at the same time and
by the same people, but I can also just experience one and not the other or I can experience none.
In my life, particularly, I can say that I often experience love and happiness from my family and
friends. There are also times where I feel love and happiness from others, such as strangers,
classmates, or different forms of entertainment such as: movies, shows, and social media. But of
course, life also has ups and downs, so there may be moments where I experience sadness or hate
from the people I love and vice versa. Which is why it is important to realize that correlation does
not equal causation.
The first theory that was mentioned in class was the Union Theory, which is the construction of
our desire to create, maintain, and be engaged in a specific kind of union. I agree with this theory
because I believe that it applies to different types of relationships, such as: friendship, romance, or
family. Between those, there is a bond that is formed between you and the other person(s), love.
Like the definition, I do believe that love is based on one s willingness to show such affection
towards another. As contradicting as this seems, I also agree with the statement, love exists
when the distinction between x s interests and y s interests are not marked anymore because one
can love another but that person doesn t have to show love back. Although x may not love y the
same, love still exists because y may still have some sort of affectionate feeling towards x. I
believe that one sided love exists, but I also believe that love is not pure if two do not love each
other the same. In other words, in order to have true love in a relationship, both parties

The Hutus In Rwanda Genocide
Tutsis were tall and well educated. Not only did they have better social status, but there also
appeared to be more entitled, whereas, the Hutus were those who worked for Tutsis. During the
pre World War I, Rwanda was colonized by Germany, but later when Germany had lost the war,
Rwanda came under Belgium s administration. Under the ruling of Belgium, Tutsis were more
favored to be educated, which had made Hutus felt under appreciated, as if they were really treated
like servants. (RwandaGenocide) However, the population of Hutus has always outnumbered the
Tutsis, where it accounts 80 percent of the Hutus, 19 percent of Tutsis, and only 1 percent of Twa
and Pygmy, the original inhabitants of Rwanda. (Rwanda genocide: 100 days of slaughter, 2014)
Towards the end of Belgium s ruling, the Hutus were given more authority from the Belgians. Since
the majority is the Hutus, the group had seeked influence to subdue the minorities, specifically the
Tutsis. Even before independence in 1959, the Hutus had ultimately sparked revolution, causing
around 300,000 of Tutsis to escape to the neighboring country, Uganda, where they settled down for
nearly 30 years. In 1961, the Hutus had victoriously overthrown Tutsis power, advocated the country

Joshua Research Paper
Joshua Paper Our paper is on Joshua, as presented in Joshua 1 3, 6, 11, 23 24. Joshua is in
Lebanon, but God is sending him to go and take the Promise Land of Canaan. This all takes
place in 1406 B.C., which is after Moses had passed on and passed on the leadership to Joshua.
The book of Joshua also briefly follows two spies sent into Canaan and the prostitute, Rahab,
who protected them. This is a story about how God will always make a way for his people to get
to a better place and protect them, even when times seem tough. Joshua plays the role of a leader in
the group of Israelites, who were God s people. Joshua was tasked with leading the Israelites from

It begins with Joshua and the rest of the Israelites are commanded to leave Lebanon. God tells
them it is time for them to take Canaan from the Hittites. God says that if they follow the
commands of Moses they will be successful in all their endeavors. They head over to Canaan and
set up camp. Joshua sends two spies into Jericho, a city in Canaan, to find out the weaknesses
and the best way to attack. While there, someone spots them and gets word to the King that
there are Israelite spies in Jericho that have come back to take Canaan. The spies go into the
house of Rahab, the prostitute, whose house is built into the city wall. Rahab hides them on her
roof when the guards come to look for the spies. She tells them she knows they are there to take
Canaan and asks that her and her family are spared when they come to defeat the Hittites. She
says that she knows the land rightfully belongs to the Israelites and they will kill everyone. The
spies grant her and her family protection. The spies return to the Israelite camp and report all that
happened. Joshua is instructed by the Lord to have all the Israelites walk around the walls of
Jericho for seven days silently and on the seventh day, yell and blow trumpets. They carry out
the Lord s instructions and the walls of Jericho collapse. The Israelites overtake the Hittites of

Comparison Between Charles Lee And John Laurens
The Duel Between Charles Lee And John Laurens Have you ever been in a duel? Most likely
not considering it was made illegal when people noticed that they weren t Fights for honor but
murderous quarrels. Many hard fought and terrible duels contributed to the final step of making
dueling illegal. Probably the most famous one was is the Burr/Hamilton duel, but there are
others that helped push for it a lot as well. One of which is the John Laurens and Charles Lee
duel by the No Point Road. It left one wounded, but keeping his stance on the matter. Before the
duel between General Charles Lee and Lieutenant Colonel John Laurens, most was peaceful
between them. This peace lasted until General Lee was Caught saying rude remarks and callings
about George Washington. Considering Laurens respect for Washington, it was obvious he wasn
t going to just sit around. Once he figured out about it he challenged Lee to a duel. Lee then
accepted willingly. They chose and gathered their seconds and prepared for the duel. On the date
of the duel, John Laurens and his second, Alexander Hamilton and Charles Lee and his second,
Evan Edwards met face to face. The dueling grounds were by No Point Road s 4 milestone on

Pitbulls Essay
Picture this for a second. You come home both mentally and physically exhausted after a strenuous
day at school. All you want to do is watch TV and relax with your best friend. As you begin up the
concrete cracked driveway, these thoughts linger in your mind. You push the key into the door
handle but you notice something is wrong. There is no barking, no tailwagging, no sign of your
best friend at the gate. All that is left is a notice on the front door explaining that your dog has
been destroyed by the RSCPA.
This is the outcome that many Queenslanders are facing for owning an American Pitbull Terrier.

Number one, these dogs which proceeded on their rampage were not true APBT s. The mongrels
were a result of backyard breeding a dangerous breeding style which can lead to a dog with an
unpredictable personality, also known as unstable temperament. Did you know that the APBT, from
a good breeder, is more mentally sound and stable than the Labrador at home or the Mini Fox
Terrier down the road?
The second point that I would like to explain about in this attack, is that the two dogs were
secured by heavy steel chains and padlocks in place of their collars around their neck. This tells
us that the owner has no regard for the dogs mental and physical health.. The APBT is very
much a people dog, and if you leave them in the yard alone all day everyday, something is going
to give. Chaining up a dog like that is animal cruelty, yet has the RSPCA done anything in regards
to charging the owners with neglect? The dogs in question were unregistered and unsecured. This
allows for the dogs to likely become deficient in areas such as socialization, exercise and obedience.
Yet it is the dog that will pay with their life.

The Fight Against Drug Trafficking Essay
There continues to be a struggle in the fight against drug trafficking from Mexico into the United
States. Although measures have been put into place at the border, the profits made from the
illicit drug trade in addition to the other illegal activities has made it difficult determining who
has not been corrupted. Mexican presidents both past and present have taken to the military to try
and eradicate the problem, but have been met with force. As a result of the cartel violence, the
rising death toll has hit a staggering number. While the number itself is substantial, the manner
used by these organizations to commit these acts of violence range from kidnappings, to
decapitations and mass killings. Drug cartels have not stopped short of any means necessary to
meet their goals and have even joined forces with once rival gangs to do so. This has led to
further instability within the country. Programs in place are continuing to fund the joint efforts
between the United States and Mexico in hopes of deterring the influence and destructive power
of Mexican drug cartels. Mexico s Drug Cartels With its weak judicial and police foundations as
well as having close proximity to the world s largest consumer economy, has made Mexico the hub
of one of the world s most sophisticated drug networks. (Lee, 2014) There are numerous drug
trafficking organizations (DTOs) within Mexico that have continued to dominate the drug flow into
the United States. Despite being in

Queen Elizabeth I; a Powerful Ruler in England
Brittany Fleetwood Barbara Whitehead History 111 6 May 2010 Queen Elizabeth I: A Powerful
Ruler in History While there was no law in Tudor England preventing appointment of a woman
on the throne, the ruling of a woman was considered unfavorable. Women were not normally
held high in command because it was believed that women could not rule well. During a time
where the role of women was contained, Elizabeth I of England proved her power and remained
the only unmarried queen in England s history. She reined England from 1558 to 1603 and has
become the symbol of an age, a symbol of the power of a woman who strived to govern. Queen

Race, Culture, Income Level, Education, And Class
In every society there is stratification, which is basically a ranking system constructed upon features
involving gender, race, culture, income level, education, and class. Each of these factors fall under
the status of either Ascribed or Achieved. Ascribed status is something that people are born with
and is centered on characteristics that a person can t control like gender, race, and culture. Achieved
statusis earned or chosen and is based on characteristics that a person can control such as income
level, education, and class. When looking at Ascribed stratification, the characteristic that appears
to have the greatest effect on a person s status is race. When someone thinks of a wealthy, high
class American, an African American is not typically what pops into their head. This is because
African Americans are a minority, making up around 13% of America s population. African
Americans are also seen at a lesser status because of stereotypes. Labels like criminal, poor, and
unintelligent are put on African Americans which automatically downgrades them. On the other
hand, an example of an ascribed stratification that would automatically put someone at the top of
the totem pole in a society would be being born into royalty or a wealthy family because people do
not pick and control the family they are born into. Ascribed statuss also play a big role in India,
especially because this is where the caste system was created which was based on heredity. In these
caste systems

Safety And Security In Rip Van Winkie
America: The World s Safezone For years, America has been considered a safe zone for all of its
residents. Europeans came to America hundreds of years ago to escape religious persecution.
Jewish people in Europe came to America in the 1900s to escape anti Semetic violence. People
from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador come to America to find safety from drug violence
and gangs in their countries. Therefore, America can be considered a home to anyone who
needs it. The idea of America being a place of safety and shelter, regardless of religion, race, or
how someone chooses to live their life is a huge part of America s identity, and various texts from
the late 1700s and 1800s showcase this. The idea of safety and protection in America is portrayed
though symbolism in the short story titled Rip Van Winkleby Washington Irving, also known as
Diedrich Knickerbocker. In the text, Rip Van Winkle falls asleep for 20 years, only to realize
that he has woken up in a newly independent America. He returns to an inn he used to spend his
time at before he falls asleep. The narrator describes what he sees, saying, Instead of the great
tree that used to shelter the quiet little Dutch inn of yore, there now was reared a tall, naked
pole... and from it was fluttering a flag, on which was a singular assemblage of stars and stripes...
(Irving 10). The tree that used to stand by the inn acted as a shelter for the inn, protecting it from
harm s way. The flag replacing it is symbolic of the

those with anxiety disorders seek relief for symptoms that mimic physical illnesses. People with
an anxiety disorder are three to five times more likely to go to the doctor and six times more

The Five Primary Types Of Ionizing Radiation

pass through, giving rise to ions and free radicals. It is made up of energetic subatomic particles,
ions or atoms moving at high speeds, and electromagnetic waves on the high energy end of the
electromagnetic spectrum. There are five primary types of Ionizing Radiation, Alpha Particles, Beta
Particles, Gamma Rays, X Rays and Neutrons. Alpha Particles are charged particles, which are two

they travel short distances and they have large mass. The only hazard that the caused is when they

Vampires Vs Modern Vampires
Vampires are popular in contemporary culture. They are the go to creatures, the phenomenon
people love featuring in tv shows and movies such as The Vampire Diaries and True Blood. They
both show modern depictions of what vampires would be like in this day in age. Though, both
shows embodied the idealism of modern age vampires; they each have their own depiction on how
they should act, look, and how each plot of the show should be carried out. True Bloods
involvement in these elements is what made the show successful, not only that, but they even
explored social issues about discrimination, religion, and equal rights. Each tv show was a success
on its own.
True Blood is one of the most talked about tv shows today. Alan Ball, the creator of the series,
wanted to illustrate these fictional vampires as these lifeless creatures with pale like skin, razor
sharp fangs, and a lust for blood. They are normal in appearance, making it impossible to detect who
they were unless you triggered their inhumane nature. These characters were assimilating with
humanity, trying to disguise their inhumane nature. Whereas in The VampireDiaries, Julia Plec,
writer, and creator of the show, made her characters appear stranger. Their eyes would change
according to their hunger, their pale and cold skin would mimic a dead corpse, and their canine
teeth would go smoothly through warm blooded bodies. The vampires in each show are intended to
appear as humanly as possible, whilst experiencing

The Importance Of Communication
The famous physicist Albert Einstein said: The greatest danger in modern technology is not that
machines begin to think but that people will begin to think like machines. It is true that technology
has become more and more popular, not only in people s daily lives, but it influenced the
development of counties. The technologyused for communication have changed the dynamics of
human interaction, and it also has affected the contact with each other in various ways. Has this
been a positive or negative development? Even though some people hold the view that too many
technological advancements in communication cause people more isolation, there is no doubt that
technology has improved contact with others in different ways, such as it widens the scope of
knowledge and promote human relationship, the quality of communication and it is beneficial for
time saving as well. According to Li xin and Li Chiou, web technologies have built up e commerce,
information sharing, business management and delivering services in the past 20 years (Tao, Chen,
2012, p.9 16). Which supports my idea that technology is improving people s communication and
business activities. Some people indicate that too many technological interactions between people
will cause social isolation; however, technology increases people s scope of knowledge and
promotes the relationship between others. Firstly, electronic communication, like cell phones,
networking websites and email have made communication faster

Nationwide, The Food Truck Industry
I.EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Nationwide, the Food Truck industry has rocketed, with Miami being the second place city with
largest food truck scene. We plan on developing application which lets users connect to to their
favorite local food trucks, and have the ability to track, locate the nearest, place an order and
share reviews, and pictures through their social media. We noticed there was a lack of apps with
these features in the market; as of now, only one application is available on the market, which has
a very limited selection of 15 of the 300+ food trucks.
The first step taken was measuring the interest of the market for such an app. We published an
online survey to substantiate whether our idea was appealing to our market segmentation, which is
both, men and women, from 18 to 65 years old with an interest in street food and residing in the
Miami area. The results of this survey was encouraging.
Second, we had to find out what features we would include in this application. Through another
online survey and a focus group, we weighed and reflected on the responses gathered and came to
the following conclusion: Consumers want a simple, instinctive mobile app that allows them to
track, see reviews and pictures, order, and pay.

An Analysis Of When Worlds Collide
The term When Worlds Collide describes the convergence of the old and new worlds. In the year
of 1492, Christopher Columbus sailed westward across the Atlantic Ocean with the hope of
finding a new sea route from Europe to India. Though he struck land, it was not Indian soil. Where
he landed was a new worldfull of promise and foreign goods, but also tragedy and challenges. Soon,
many nations from Europecame to the Americas, such as the Spanish, French, and the English. The
controversy between the worlds that followed this justifies the use of the word collide as opposed
to When Worlds Meet ; the collision vastly changed both worlds, positively and negatively.

However, what the Conquistadors did not realize was that the jewelry of the natives was the only
gold they had. A Spanish Conquistador turned missionary named Bartolome de las Casas described
the torturous conditions that the Spanish put the natives through in his book, The Deconstruction
of the Indies. Of all the nations that came to the Americas, the Spanish were by far the most cruel
and power hungry of them all.
On the polar opposite of the spectrum were the French. While the Spanish settled the southern
Americas and treated the Indians poorly, the French settled the northernmost parts of America, but
treated the natives with respect and honor. Instead of demanding things and forcing the Indians to
give them precious goods, the French traded with the natives and built an alliance with them. Many
Indians converted to Christianity because the religion was not being forced upon them, unlike the
Spanish and natives in the south. This type of alliance could be the basis of a strong bond between
the Indians and new settlers, but this bond is, again, broken when the English arrive to the east
coast of the native s land.
In 1606, the English entered the search for gold in the new world by settling in Jamestown,
Virginia. They faced harsh winters, scolding summers, and starvation, but perhaps the biggest
challenge in which they faced was the Powhatan Indians. This group of natives strongly defended

Joint Surveillance And Target Attack Radar System
Joint Surveillance and Target Attack Radar System (Joint STARS/JSTARS)
SSG Koza, David
Class: 16 011
Joint Surveillance and Target Attack Radar System (Joint STARS/JSTARS) is a multi functioning
air asset that is to assist airborne battle management, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.
I will briefly describe the aircraft capabilities and how they are used on the battlefield. I will also
identify significant historic event, how the Joint STARS have influenced Military intelligence, and
the second and third order effects. I will also talk about how Joint STARTS will continue to help
the evolvement and impacts it will have on Military intelligence. Joint STARS came from Army
and Air Force programs to develop, detect, located, and attack enemy forces at a range beyond
forward operating troops. Joint STARS E 8C modified Boeing 707 300 series commercial aircraft.
The E 8C is equipped with a multi mode radar, commutations, operations and control subsystems,
and antenna. The radar and computer subsystems can display battlefield information on ground
troops in near real time. The antenna is able to rotate 120 degrees and able to detect targets 155
miles away. In addition, the antenna is limited to detect helicopters, rotating antennas, and even
slow moving fixed wing aircraft. Joint STARS was deployed during Desert Storm and specifically
early on during the Battle of Khafji. The Battle of Khafji took place during 28January1991 and

The message the author tries to tell us is to save the wolves. The story makes a strong point,
because it shows all the conflicts white fang had to deal with. I think the author was effective in
conveying the theme because he says a lot of problems that happens to wolves, since they can
kill someone because they are in famine until they can be used as fighting machines to make
money. I think the author wrote this story in order to make us understand that life is not easy for
these animals and they need conscious people. The author must have known things like famine,
the cycle of life and the situation with fight of dogs in order to write this story. I could send the
same message to readers, but in a different way by making up a documentary and telling people to

Boys and Boden Essay
1.) To what extent could Dean expect to apply the philosophies and techniques of JIT described in
this chapter to the running of a staircase cell.
Dean Hammond can implement JIT techniques that seek to eliminate the significant amount of
waste that exists in his current operational processes. Basically, there are seven wastes to be
considered as obstacles in the lean system. It consists of over production, wasting time,
transportation, process, inventory, motion, and defectives. As a result of implementing this
concept, it will arrange a better valued chain and create a solid base of production.
While the customized nature of B B s products isn t conducive to the type of streamlining seen in
volume manufacturing applications, they can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These same individuals could also be responsible for delivering these pieces to various stations,
eliminating the need for the station workers to do so.
By creating a staircase cell in their factory, B B can realize efficiencies that would allow them to
eliminate waste and be more competitive in the areas of price and lead time. This would eventually
reduce their order backlog, making their production more in line with estimates.
2.) What are likely to be the main categories of costs and benefits in establishing the cell? Are there
any non financial benefits which should be taken into account?
B B may face some initial outlay costs in creating specific staircase stations. Additionally, there
may be costs associated with training, as they ensure that their joiners can function as experts in
their respective areas. This might even require a short period of inactivity or even a halt in
production as they seek to get workers up to speed. However, the benefits seem to outweigh these
initial costs. B B would be in a position to handle more volume and could make far better use of
their existing resources. Orders would have a better chance of being completed on time and the
elimination of waste would allow for more competitive quotes. Ultimately, this would put B B in a
more competitive position to win business and become more profitable.
3.) At what stage, and how, should Dean sell his idea to the JoineryManager and the workers?
Mr. Hammond should sell

Mr. Davis, An Inspirational Jazz Musician That Paved The...
Countless awards for best Trumpet player, countless Grammy awards Best Jazz performance; with
all these awards, you would think Miles Davis is considered a legendary icon and one of the
greatest things to happen to the music industry. Mr. Davis and his team were setting revolutionizing
the world of music. Mr. Davis was an inspirational jazzmusician that paved the way for future
musicians and artists.
Miles Dewey Davis was born on May 26, 1926 in the great state of Illinois. The 20th century
proved to be a very trying period for African Americans all around the country with the equal rights
being a myth. African Americans were seen as a lowly entity that was not to be interacted with.
With the times being so against the black man , Mr. Davis fought through the adversity to piece
together some of best instrumentals to date. Now I don t want to turn this into a paper about his
fight through segregation. I want to spend some time evaluating and analyzing his music and
comparing it to today s music and music tastes of my own.
First I want to give you a bit of information on myself and this generation s music. My music
tastes consist of Orchestra, Drum and Bass, Hip Hop/Rap, R B, Soul, Vocaloids, and Alternative
Rock. I enjoy some Jazz but I wouldn t consider it my top style to listen to. Vocaloid music
consists of computer generated voices that sing the music composed by bands in Japan. Now the
music of this generation is mostly made of drums and mixers. Not many

The Spanish American War Essay
The Spanish American War, also known as The Splendid Little War, was a short lived conflict
between the United States and Spain in 1898. This war was a pretext for the Philippines War.
During this time period Spain had control over several territories within the Caribbean because they
were still a colonial power. Although Spain had control of the territories of Cuba and the
Philippines, the inhabitants began to grow more and more rebellious as time passed. With the
tension building between Spain and its territories, the United Stateswas in a position to become their
ally and help them fight to win their independence and gain territory within the Caribbean and
Pacific at the same time. United States involvement is said to have risen... Show more content on

Wetzel (2012) contends that by 1898 some observers thought that 400,000 Cubans had died in
these camps. (p. 408) Because of the reconcentrado policy in Cuba, U.S. public opinion of war was
aroused and war sentiment rose.
Regardless of the armistice McKinley proposed to Spain in Cuba and although McKinley was
informed that the queen of Spain ordered hostilities be suspended, he asked Congress for
authority to intervene in Cuba. Soon after, Congress passed resolves to demand that Spain
withdrawal from Cuba. The U.S. also set terms that they will not withdraw from this island until
independence was assured in Cuba, also known as the Teller Amendment. Congress declared war
on Spain by authorizing the enlistment of volunteer troops and the U.S. instituting a blockade of
Spanish ports. (Key Events in the Spanish American War, 2013, p. 1) As previously mentioned,
once the war began, the warfare was very short lived and one sided. When George Dewey s
squadron defeated a Spanish fleet in four hours in the harbor of Manila, Philippine Islands, this
marked one of the first incidents in this war. From this thorough victory, Dewey became a
renowned hero within the United States. It was evident that the Spanish forces during this
engagement were very weak, but during heavy fighting at San Juan Hill Theodore Roosevelt s
Rough Riders gained a reputation. (Key Events in the Spanish American War, 2013, p. 2) The
efficacious land and sea assault of Cuba resulted in Spanish

Atheism Is Not An Easy Belief
Atheism is just as misunderstood as theism in today s realm, specifically when one is precarious of
the other. Theists have some misunderstandings about atheism, but atheists have their specific
misconceptions about theism. These two world understandings are two risky points of view
regarding thoughts of God. Atheists do not trust that God exists, but theists believe in a God, who
made the world and earth. In his article, On Being an Atheist , H.J. McCloskey tries to convince his
listeners that Christianity is not an easy belief. He honors the three opinions that theists use to
protect their belief as evidences. The three opinions are the cosmological argument, the teleological
argument and the problem of evil. Even though these opinions... Show more content on

No matter if an individual is a theist or atheist, he or she has at some time asked why God would
permit or generate evil. The reply is as intricate as responding to the question of reality. If
McCloskey anticipates getting proof of why God permits evil of any kind, there is little proof that
is obtainable. There are just some objects that cannot be solved until one perishes and witnesses
life after death. There is just no complete way to exactly prove whether there is life after death and
definitively whether God exists. H.J. McCloskey attempts to answer the following questions. Is the
existence of God rational? Do the so called opinions for the reality of God have any truth value?
Can an atheist live a more content and ultimately calmer life? McCloskey allegations say that
atheism, not theism is a better interpretation for the world we observe. In this paper I will try to
challenge some of the interests that McCloskey makes about the proofs of God, specifically the
Cosmological and Teleological Arguments. I will then focus on his concerns to an morally
impeccable God who allows sin and evil to happen in an earth that he made. Lastly I will try to
describe McCloskey s allegations that life, as an atheist, is more relaxing than a life based on the
acceptance of a supreme existence. Within the first few paragraphs of his writing McCloskey

Body Fat Spreadsheet
D) Immediately when you view the statistical results from the calculations on the spreadsheet you
can see that there is a strong relationship between BMI and percent body fat measured using BIA.
This was shown by the correlation value r of 0.64 when p=0.001. Based off these numbers, it
displays that there is a strong relationship and a statistically significant relationship. These statistics
show us that the direction of the r value is positive with a strong relationship and the p value is
significant. This shows us that by using a small age bracket 18 through 24 , sex, height and weight
that the relation between all the participants is significant. E) Based on the numbers that were

I believe this due to the numbers that were produced in the difference column of the spreadsheet.
In this column the numbers come from taking BMI and subtracting % Fat BIA . Based on what
the numbers were in each of these columns could result in a negative or positive number which
means that the results are both overestimated and underestimated; if the number is negative then
the results or underestimated. These negative numbers could come from a wide variety of
circumstances from an incorrect measurement of BMI. First off, BMI measurements cannot
decipher between the different types of fat in a person or the location. The location of fat is key
in terms of increased risk of disease. For example, a person may have a lower BMI than
someone else who appears healthier but if the person with a lower BMI has a majority of their
fat stored in their belly they are at higher risk for disease than a person who has fat distributed
elsewhere. The fat in the belly displays a higher risk for disease due to the fact that it will release
compounds that can commence disease (Cespedes). Fat located on the hips, thighs, etc. are healthy
in a proper amount and do not result in such dramatic increases as fat in the belly

Architecture Set In Motion Essay
1. Bouffrand: Salon de la Princess, hotel de Soubise, Paris, France, begun 1730 s
Salon de la Princess, is a many sided cylindrical interior room and is part of the Rococo style that
incorporates minimal architectural features and light airy decor, that develops into a profession of
interior design. Rococo is the revolt against complicated Baroque that decorated the interior of
Versailles, in revolt against the palace and after the death of Louis XIV, French women who had
city houses in Paris inspired a new lightened airy style of decor and architecture. As seen in the
Salon de la Princess, the structure of the room has virtually been covered up by white walls of
wood and mirrors, and it only contains hints ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, with the inspiration of the French landscape painter Claude, the landscape at this
Palladian estate is completely manmade, with hills, lakes, trees, meant to look as nature had created
it, and as in Claude s landscapes it can be divided up into three layers, incorporating a dark
foreground, light middle ground and light hazy background. Stooped in classical Roman tradition
the garden is a place to break the rules, and Stourhead has architectural samples from all over the
world incorporated into the landscape as temples, grottoes, and classical statues together with a
Chinese bridge, and Turkish tent, which set a president from 1750 on where naughty architectural
elements present themselves in architectural structures. This eclectic style is the bases of 19th and
20th century American suburbs, including new ones being built around the outskirts of Richmond,
Virginia today, while also emerging in 20th century architects as Wright, who in the Robbie
House(1900s) combined inspirations from many different cultures past and present.

Essay on Pepsi In Cuba
How attractive to PepsiCo is the proposal to buy 30% of Deltex for 1.1B pesos (US$360M)?
Based on the information in the case, Pepsi could invest US$360 million in exchange for 30%
equity of Deltex. So we have to calculate the value of 30% equity of Deltex. First, we calculated
the discount factor by using average unlevered beta of US independent bottlers, US 10 year
Treasury bond as risk free rate and assuming market risk premium 10%. We came up with 9.83% of
WACC. Next, we calculated Deltex free cash flowand terminal value and then converted them
into US dollar value. Now with WACC and total cash flow, we had NPV of the company. So we
deducted current debt from NPV and came up with the value of US$360M investment equal to

It had increased its market share to about 50% in each of its regional markets and remained
highly profitable. Deltex was also one of the few Pepsi bottlers in Mexico whose share had risen
since the 1960s.
b.Deltex was in the most populated region in Mexico. Densely populated and allowed centralized
access to a large number of potential customers. It was a market that Pepsi could not miss.
c.Pepsi distribution system had become inefficiency and fragmented and lacked scale advantages.
It needed to consolidate its bottling group, to build new packaging capacity and expand new
territorial scope. Deltex could help Pepsi to achieve this goal. It already had 88,000 points of sales,
and owned subsidiaries which manufactured plastic bottles, bottle caps, containers and packaging
materials.
d.Deltex s president Adolfo Sanchez had the expertise of the industry know how knowledge. He
was a bottler by profession and knew the Mexican bottling business well. He also had developed
strategies to modernize the production lines and promotional campaigns.
Downsides
a.Pepsi s US$360M investment was too expensive. Based on our calculation, this investment was
worth almost 60% of Deltex equity. However, in the proposal, Pepsi would only receive 30% of
Deltex equity.
b.Pepsi might not be able to organize and control the Deltex joint venture in the same way as were
with previous two joint ventures since Sanchez wanted to remain in control of the

Symptoms And Treatment Of Alzheimer s Disease Essay
At 16 years old, I listened carefully as my grandmother described in detail her daugher who lived in
Utah with 4 girls, one of those being myself. Though it seemed her memory was very clear on the
subject, she did not realize that I was one of those 4 girls. My grandma has Alzheimer s disease.
She started showing mild signs of it around the age of 75 and it has slowly progressed over the
years. Now, 10 years later her memoryis almost completely gone.
Alzheimer s disease is an irreversible, abnormal, progressive deterioration of the brain that causes
victims to steadily lose the ability to remember, reason, and comprehend (Wardlaw 719). At first it
may start with things such as: forgetting important dates or events, repeating oneself multiple times,
or needing reminders more often than usual. Eventually it may progress to experiencing challenges
in completing simple tasks, difficulty concentrating, and confusion. Geriatric psychiatrist, Robert
Santulli states, Alzheimer s disease involves loss of short term memory but also other things like
the ability to express yourself with language, the ability to perform certain routine tasks like
getting yourself dressed or operating a piece of equipment. It has a lot of emotional symptoms that
can go along with it as well such as depression or anxiety, sleep disturbance, agitation, and so forth
(Santulli). At the beginning, I remember my grandma as we drove to a hike asking Where are we
going? to which my grandpa would patiently

The Citizen united was the decision that fundamentally changed how election campaigns can now
be financed in the U.S. The heart of the decision is that unlimited amount of money can be used in

6.8 million dollars were spent. The money is spent by outside groups on the advertising and such
example can be the outside group known as American Bridge 21st century corporation.

people to be heard by its government but rather it lets the government only to be influenced by the
big money coming from the wealthy corporations, not by the voice of the people. Therefore what J.
Bopp believes in just erasing the total meaning of democracy.
They think it is wrong to have the money coming in the state in secrecy. They don t need any
secrecy because they feel like the state is being bought out by others who aren t even in the
specific state and the people don t have any control nor they can decide for the state because of the
secrecy.
Per J. Bopp, spending is very important in election because in you want to have your voice heard,
you need money to do so. The reason we can call him very clever because he knows that majority
of the voters don t have the information or the right amount of information to made a decision
before voting because they are most likely not to know about the correct information so it is
irrelevant to them.

  • 4. Family Planning And Poverty The mainstreaming of the family planning agenda in many countries over the decades has been accompanied by increased researcher interest in the subject, with a lot of research attention being focused on the link between family planning and poverty. Empirical research studies using standard economic models have demonstrated that increased access to familyplanning services is associated with lower rates of poverty. This effect has been posited as occurring through a number of channels. The first channel is the family size channel. As per this channel, increased access to family planning reduces the number of children per family, which results into parents devoting more time and resources per child, and occasioning higher per child investment that should lead to material decline in household poverty (Bailey, Malkova and McLaren, 2013). The second channel is the household income channel. Here, increased access to family planning services helps to free up more resources, which can then be invested in the improvement of the human capital of the parents. For instance, delaying parenthood can enable the soon to be parents to pursue further education, gain more work experience, or enroll for further job training, and thus raise their lifetime earnings levels (Bailey, Malkova and Norling, 2014). For instance, Bailey, Hershbein, and Miller (2012) demonstrated that women who had access to the pill were able to delay motherhood and to invest in their careers, resulting in higher wage ... Twice a day, once from 12 a.m. 2 a.m. and again from 6 a.m. 8 a.m., a spike of passengers deplaned from points west for a two hour window to connect to their east bound flights. These spikes strained the airport s capacity, but they were essential to allow connecting passengers the widest possible choice of connections from points east to west13. Emirates growth into new markets produced some additional peak period hiccups. Strategic Expansion: The strategic move of placing a planning department to forecast major growth regions and placed orders for the number of new planes it expected to use. Once the planes were confirmed, the planning team examined the overall fleet, the available craft currently in use, and how many planes remained. This base was then used to determine whether to add capacity to existing routes or launch a new route. If case of the former option, Emirates determined whether to add new service to an existing route or to swap out a service s existing plane with a larger and newer craft. Emirates relied on only three types of aircraft, because of which planes could be deployed onto existing routes to supply much more easily to match the demand. Perry is a unique man for how he see the world and how the world sees him. Although the townspeople and those who had heard of the murder only saw Parry as a murder. There is however one man who sees Perry more than he appeared to be and that man was Truman Capote. Perry had an interesting life from how he was raised, becoming friends with Richard Eugene Hickock, to the murder of the Clutter family, all the way to Capote writing about him and the trail he and Dick must face. When asked where he had heard this dick replied his former cellmate, Floyd Wells, who had worked as a farm hand for the family. It was After Dick was released in 1959 that the two decided to rob the Clutter family. When the two went the Clutter s home and Ransacked the home they discovered there was no safe and no money. It was after the money was not found the killings began. Perry would say Dick had killed the two women yet, he would not sign his confession. The reason for this was that Perry had felt some sort of greiff for Dick s Mother who he described as a real sweet person. However Perry would later say I didn t want to harm the man. I thought he was a very nice gentleman. Soft spoken about Mr. Clutter (Perry, pg. 244). These statements show Perry was not a bad person nor a psychopath for he felt remorse and was also trying to protect a man he thought was his friend. I learned that there is a lot more history of Cedar Point, the roller coastercapital of the world, than I thought. Before Cedar Point became the number one rated amusement parkin the world, it was used mainly for hunting and fishing. I thought this was especially important because it pushes the idea that people still live this way, rather than seeing Native Peoples as an extinct culture. The first thing that caught my eye was the beautiful paintings hung on the living room wall. The Navajo Indian paintings dated back to the 1930 s and 1940 s. Two specific paintings stood out to me the most, and even confused me. A painting of a man on horseback and one of a woman striking a sheep with a stick. • 13. There is Only One Cleopatra Almost every pharaoh queen was named Cleopatra, yet only one is ever thought of, Cleopatra Thea Philopator VII, The Goddess and Beloved of her Father . Every moment of her life from 69 BCE until August 12, 30 BCE was a story larger than life, epic in scale, and over the top in its grandeur. As the last reigning pharaoh of the Ptolemaic Dynastyin Ancient Egypt, she is remembered for her ability to rule as a political genius and a strong female leader living in a male dominated world despite all odds being against her. Firstly, Cleopatra grew up in the Ptolemaic palace living a life of luxury, yet her subjects worshipped and even felt connected to her as more than just their queen. Secondly, after Cleopatra was exiled by her incompetent brother, Ptolemy XII, she came back with an army of mercenaries and took back Egypt to be its sole and more qualified ruler. Lastly, Cleopatra went to any means to secure her power and to ensure her nation s financial and political strength; therefore what started off as a strategic alliance with Rome slowly became her dominance over most of the ancient world. Pharaohs for centuries had put themselves on a pedestal, those in the Ptolemaic Dynasty rarely ever connected with their subjects, but Cleopatra defied this ideology. The Ptolemies were descendants of a general in Alexander the Great s military and therefore were aligned with Greek and Macedonian traditions. • 14. Explain Why Did Tsar Nicholas II Face Problems From 1906... Why did Tsar Nicholas II continue to face problems from 1906 to 1914? After the 1905 Revolution, the Tsar got a little taste of what was to come if he did not change the way the country functioned. However too little was done too late and after war was declared and Stolypin s assassination it was almost certain that there would be no more tsarist regime. Nicholas II promised in the October Manifesto that a duma may be set up, so he can get some liberal support. This was the first time the Tsar has tried at a democratic government. However what displeased the people is what the Tsar had done in April 1906. He passed on the Fundamental Laws which basically allowed him to overrule any decision of the Duma and that he would keep most of his autocratic power. It seemed that nothing has changed after the 1905 Revolution. The first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the peasants had no land of their own and the Mir was creating major problems, the peasants were quite angry. Also they made up most of the population, which showed that they must be taken seriously or they could do major damage to the country. Stolypin gave the peasants the power to choose to leave the Mirs and join Kulaks freely. Because of this there were some successes; record harvests in 1913 and production was increasing however it depended on the region. The problem was that Stolypin was assassinated and nobody was there to continue his reforms. There are million cases all around the world connected with these kinds of problems. People are concentrating on them and are not aware that there are less severe kinds such as: Zombie Consumerism. When we buy without thinking, motivated by a super low price, passion or enormous appetite we are guilty of Zombie Consumerism. Shopping is seen by many addicts as a release from stress and pain, so it can be assumed the inner working cognitively for a shopping addict would become similar to that of a drug addict or alcohol addict. The characters in White Noise are victims of Zombie Consumerism. One of the main themes around which the novel is structured is death. The characters in this novel realize that they are surrounded by death and that there is no escape. Even though they are aware that the death is brought to them upon the products they buy and it causes them to suffer both physically and mentally, they are ignoring the fact and they turn to the illusive comfort that consumerism provides. The characters turn to consumerism as a way of escaping death. The products they buy create some kind of comfort and seem as a solution of many problems. • 16. The Importance Of Love And Happiness As a singer songwriter, Lana Del Rey, once said, When someone else s happiness is your happiness, that is love. Love and happiness are two qualities that people seek in life; they are correlating factors in people s lives, like mine, for example. These two qualities are part of the circle of life and many believe that having the two factors in their life will lead to a good life. Like many others, I seek for love and happiness as well, but at the same time, I am already experiencing them. Generally speaking, I can experience these two factors at the same time and by the same people, but I can also just experience one and not the other or I can experience none. In my life, particularly, I can say that I often experience love and happiness from my family and friends. There are also times where I feel love and happiness from others, such as strangers, classmates, or different forms of entertainment such as: movies, shows, and social media. But of course, life also has ups and downs, so there may be moments where I experience sadness or hate from the people I love and vice versa. Which is why it is important to realize that correlation does not equal causation. The first theory that was mentioned in class was the Union Theory, which is the construction of our desire to create, maintain, and be engaged in a specific kind of union. I agree with this theory because I believe that it applies to different types of relationships, such as: friendship, romance, or family. Between those, there is a bond that is formed between you and the other person(s), love. Like the definition, I do believe that love is based on one s willingness to show such affection towards another. As contradicting as this seems, I also agree with the statement, love exists when the distinction between x s interests and y s interests are not marked anymore because one can love another but that person doesn t have to show love back. Although x may not love y the same, love still exists because y may still have some sort of affectionate feeling towards x. I believe that one sided love exists, but I also believe that love is not pure if two do not love each other the same. In other words, in order to have true love in a relationship, both parties ... Not only did they have better social status, but there also appeared to be more entitled, whereas, the Hutus were those who worked for Tutsis. During the pre World War I, Rwanda was colonized by Germany, but later when Germany had lost the war, Rwanda came under Belgium s administration. Under the ruling of Belgium, Tutsis were more favored to be educated, which had made Hutus felt under appreciated, as if they were really treated like servants. (RwandaGenocide) However, the population of Hutus has always outnumbered the Tutsis, where it accounts 80 percent of the Hutus, 19 percent of Tutsis, and only 1 percent of Twa and Pygmy, the original inhabitants of Rwanda. Since the majority is the Hutus, the group had seeked influence to subdue the minorities, specifically the Tutsis. Even before independence in 1959, the Hutus had ultimately sparked revolution, causing around 300,000 of Tutsis to escape to the neighboring country, Uganda, where they settled down for nearly 30 years. The book of Joshua also briefly follows two spies sent into Canaan and the prostitute, Rahab, who protected them. This is a story about how God will always make a way for his people to get to a better place and protect them, even when times seem tough. God tells them it is time for them to take Canaan from the Hittites. God says that if they follow the commands of Moses they will be successful in all their endeavors. They head over to Canaan and set up camp. Joshua sends two spies into Jericho, a city in Canaan, to find out the weaknesses and the best way to attack. While there, someone spots them and gets word to the King that there are Israelite spies in Jericho that have come back to take Canaan. The spies go into the house of Rahab, the prostitute, whose house is built into the city wall. Rahab hides them on her roof when the guards come to look for the spies. She tells them she knows they are there to take Canaan and asks that her and her family are spared when they come to defeat the Hittites. She says that she knows the land rightfully belongs to the Israelites and they will kill everyone. The spies grant her and her family protection. The spies return to the Israelite camp and report all that happened. Joshua is instructed by the Lord to have all the Israelites walk around the walls of Jericho for seven days silently and on the seventh day, yell and blow trumpets. They carry out the Lord s instructions and the walls of Jericho collapse. The Israelites overtake the Hittites of Jericho and Rahab and her family stay with the Israelites for the rest of her life. The King of Canaan hears about the fall of Jericho and sends his armies to defeat the Israelites and take back Jericho. The Lord tells Joshua that despite the fact that the King s army is larger, God will allow them to defeat the Hittites. The people are not afraid and win the battle. • 23. The Fight Against Drug Trafficking Essay There continues to be a struggle in the fight against drug trafficking from Mexico into the United States. Although measures have been put into place at the border, the profits made from the illicit drug trade in addition to the other illegal activities has made it difficult determining who has not been corrupted. Mexican presidents both past and present have taken to the military to try and eradicate the problem, but have been met with force. As a result of the cartel violence, the rising death toll has hit a staggering number. While the number itself is substantial, the manner used by these organizations to commit these acts of violence range from kidnappings, to decapitations and mass killings. Drug cartels have not stopped short of any means necessary to meet their goals and have even joined forces with once rival gangs to do so. This has led to further instability within the country. Programs in place are continuing to fund the joint efforts between the United States and Mexico in hopes of deterring the influence and destructive power of Mexican drug cartels. Mexico s Drug Cartels With its weak judicial and police foundations as well as having close proximity to the world s largest consumer economy, has made Mexico the hub of one of the world s most sophisticated drug networks. Race, Culture, Income Level, Education, And Class In every society there is stratification, which is basically a ranking system constructed upon features involving gender, race, culture, income level, education, and class. Each of these factors fall under the status of either Ascribed or Achieved. Ascribed status is something that people are born with and is centered on characteristics that a person can t control like gender, race, and culture. Achieved statusis earned or chosen and is based on characteristics that a person can control such as income level, education, and class. When looking at Ascribed stratification, the characteristic that appears to have the greatest effect on a person s status is race. When someone thinks of a wealthy, high class American, an African American is not typically what pops into their head. This is because African Americans are a minority, making up around 13% of America s population. African Americans are also seen at a lesser status because of stereotypes. Labels like criminal, poor, and unintelligent are put on African Americans which automatically downgrades them. On the other hand, an example of an ascribed stratification that would automatically put someone at the top of the totem pole in a society would be being born into royalty or a wealthy family because people do not pick and control the family they are born into. Europeans came to America hundreds of years ago to escape religious persecution. Jewish people in Europe came to America in the 1900s to escape anti Semetic violence. People from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador come to America to find safety from drug violence and gangs in their countries. Therefore, America can be considered a home to anyone who needs it. The idea of America being a place of safety and shelter, regardless of religion, race, or how someone chooses to live their life is a huge part of America s identity, and various texts from the late 1700s and 1800s showcase this. The idea of safety and protection in America is portrayed though symbolism in the short story titled Rip Van Winkleby Washington Irving, also known as Diedrich Knickerbocker. In the text, Rip Van Winkle falls asleep for 20 years, only to realize that he has woken up in a newly independent America. He returns to an inn he used to spend his time at before he falls asleep. Though, both shows embodied the idealism of modern age vampires; they each have their own depiction on how they should act, look, and how each plot of the show should be carried out. True Bloods involvement in these elements is what made the show successful, not only that, but they even explored social issues about discrimination, religion, and equal rights. Each tv show was a success on its own. True Blood is one of the most talked about tv shows today. Alan Ball, the creator of the series, wanted to illustrate these fictional vampires as these lifeless creatures with pale like skin, razor sharp fangs, and a lust for blood. They are normal in appearance, making it impossible to detect who they were unless you triggered their inhumane nature. These characters were assimilating with humanity, trying to disguise their inhumane nature. Of all the nations that came to the Americas, the Spanish were by far the most cruel and power hungry of them all. On the polar opposite of the spectrum were the French. While the Spanish settled the southern Americas and treated the Indians poorly, the French settled the northernmost parts of America, but treated the natives with respect and honor. Instead of demanding things and forcing the Indians to give them precious goods, the French traded with the natives and built an alliance with them. Dean Hammond can implement JIT techniques that seek to eliminate the significant amount of waste that exists in his current operational processes. Basically, there are seven wastes to be considered as obstacles in the lean system. It consists of over production, wasting time, transportation, process, inventory, motion, and defectives. As a result of implementing this concept, it will arrange a better valued chain and create a solid base of production. These same individuals could also be responsible for delivering these pieces to various stations, eliminating the need for the station workers to do so. By creating a staircase cell in their factory, B B can realize efficiencies that would allow them to eliminate waste and be more competitive in the areas of price and lead time. This would eventually reduce their order backlog, making their production more in line with estimates. 2.) What are likely to be the main categories of costs and benefits in establishing the cell? Are there any non financial benefits which should be taken into account? B B may face some initial outlay costs in creating specific staircase stations. Additionally, there may be costs associated with training, as they ensure that their joiners can function as experts in their respective areas. This might even require a short period of inactivity or even a halt in production as they seek to get workers up to speed. However, the benefits seem to outweigh these initial costs. B B would be in a position to handle more volume and could make far better use of their existing resources. Orders would have a better chance of being completed on time and the elimination of waste would allow for more competitive quotes. Ultimately, this would put B B in a more competitive position to win business and become more profitable. 3.) At what stage, and how, should Dean sell his idea to the JoineryManager and the workers? This war was a pretext for the Philippines War. During this time period Spain had control over several territories within the Caribbean because they were still a colonial power. Although Spain had control of the territories of Cuba and the Philippines, the inhabitants began to grow more and more rebellious as time passed. (p. 408) Because of the reconcentrado policy in Cuba, U.S. public opinion of war was aroused and war sentiment rose. Regardless of the armistice McKinley proposed to Spain in Cuba and although McKinley was informed that the queen of Spain ordered hostilities be suspended, he asked Congress for authority to intervene in Cuba. Soon after, Congress passed resolves to demand that Spain withdrawal from Cuba. The U.S. also set terms that they will not withdraw from this island until independence was assured in Cuba, also known as the Teller Amendment. Congress declared war on Spain by authorizing the enlistment of volunteer troops and the U.S. instituting a blockade of Spanish ports. (Key Events in the Spanish American War, 2013, p. 1) As previously mentioned, once the war began, the warfare was very short lived and one sided. When George Dewey s squadron defeated a Spanish fleet in four hours in the harbor of Manila, Philippine Islands, this marked one of the first incidents in this war. From this thorough victory, Dewey became a renowned hero within the United States. It was evident that the Spanish forces during this engagement were very weak, but during heavy fighting at San Juan Hill Theodore Roosevelt s Rough Riders gained a reputation. Theists have some misunderstandings about atheism, but atheists have their specific misconceptions about theism. These two world understandings are two risky points of view regarding thoughts of God. Atheists do not trust that God exists, but theists believe in a God, who made the world and earth. In his article, On Being an Atheist , H.J. No matter if an individual is a theist or atheist, he or she has at some time asked why God would permit or generate evil. The reply is as intricate as responding to the question of reality. If McCloskey anticipates getting proof of why God permits evil of any kind, there is little proof that is obtainable. There are just some objects that cannot be solved until one perishes and witnesses life after death. There is just no complete way to exactly prove whether there is life after death and definitively whether God exists. H.J. McCloskey attempts to answer the following questions. Is the existence of God rational? Do the so called opinions for the reality of God have any truth value? Can an atheist live a more content and ultimately calmer life? McCloskey allegations say that atheism, not theism is a better interpretation for the world we observe. Based on what the numbers were in each of these columns could result in a negative or positive number which means that the results are both overestimated and underestimated; if the number is negative then the results or underestimated. These negative numbers could come from a wide variety of circumstances from an incorrect measurement of BMI. First off, BMI measurements cannot decipher between the different types of fat in a person or the location. The location of fat is key in terms of increased risk of disease. For example, a person may have a lower BMI than someone else who appears healthier but if the person with a lower BMI has a majority of their fat stored in their belly they are at higher risk for disease than a person who has fat distributed elsewhere. The fat in the belly displays a higher risk for disease due to the fact that it will release compounds that can commence disease (Cespedes). Based on the information in the case, Pepsi could invest US$360 million in exchange for 30% equity of Deltex. So we have to calculate the value of 30% equity of Deltex. First, we calculated the discount factor by using average unlevered beta of US independent bottlers, US 10 year Treasury bond as risk free rate and assuming market risk premium 10%. We came up with 9.83% of WACC. Next, we calculated Deltex free cash flowand terminal value and then converted them into US dollar value. Now with WACC and total cash flow, we had NPV of the company. Symptoms And Treatment Of Alzheimer s Disease Essay At 16 years old, I listened carefully as my grandmother described in detail her daugher who lived in Utah with 4 girls, one of those being myself. Though it seemed her memory was very clear on the subject, she did not realize that I was one of those 4 girls. My grandma has Alzheimer s disease. She started showing mild signs of it around the age of 75 and it has slowly progressed over the years. Now, 10 years later her memoryis almost completely gone. Alzheimer s disease is an irreversible, abnormal, progressive deterioration of the brain that causes victims to steadily lose the ability to remember, reason, and comprehend (Wardlaw 719). At first it may start with things such as: forgetting important dates or events, repeating oneself multiple times, or needing reminders more often than usual. Eventually it may progress to experiencing challenges in completing simple tasks, difficulty concentrating, and confusion. Geriatric psychiatrist, Robert Santulli states, Alzheimer s disease involves loss of short term memory but also other things like the ability to express yourself with language, the ability to perform certain routine tasks like getting yourself dressed or operating a piece of equipment. It has a lot of emotional symptoms that can go along with it as well such as depression or anxiety, sleep disturbance, agitation, and so forth (Santulli).
