The Giant Panda Paradigm Essay
The Giant Panda Paradigm
The Giant Panda is a creature of mystery. Adults and children alike appreciate it for its cute, fuzzy,
lovable qualities, but it is an animal that is in desperate need of immediate attention. Scientists know
the basics: how and what they eat, where and how they live, and how they reproduce. The fact
remains, however, that this universally loved national symbol of China is facing the threat of
extinction. What accounts for this fact and what can be or is being done to protect the panda from such
a fate? This paper will discuss the characteristics and lifestyle of the panda as well as issues and
questions that arise as a result of the threat of their extinction.

Pandas have inefficient digestive systems, and must therefore spend more than ten hours a day eating
the amount of food needed for necessary nutrients ((1)). While their dental structures have adapted to
the bamboo diet their digestive systems remain closer to those of carnivores ((6)). This results in a low
percentage of food digestion in comparison to the amount that it actually ingests ((6)).
The Giant Panda is currently threatened in a number of ways. The first threats are to their food
sources. The Bamboo Rat is a minor, but existent problem that feeds on bamboo roots, killing plants
on an individual level ((6)). Bamboo also undergoes phases of growing and then dying as part of the
renewal cycle ((7)). This process is not a problem in itself, except for the fact that whereas the pandas
might move to a different location to feed, they are running out of places to move because of the
expansions of farmland and increased forest clearing ((7)).
The greatest threat of all to the Giant Panda is man. The abovementioned land clearing for farms,
residential and commercial areas coupled with prowling poachers are the two most serious threats to
the panda and its habitat ((3)). Efforts to set up reserves for the pandas have sparked conflicts with
locals. When a reserve is established, people are often not compensated for the loss of land that they
have used for years, and they are tempted to continue to use the land illegally ((3)).

Workers Comp Insurance Case Study
4 Situations Where You Could Not Collect Workers Comp
The purpose of workers comp is to give financial protection to employees that become injured while
working for their employer. Unfortunately, not all employees are eligible to receive workers comp. Be
aware of these situations where you would not receive benefits.
When An Employer Does Not Have Workers Comp Insurance
Some employers are not required to purchase workers comp insurance. This is because each state has
their own laws concerning which businesses must purchase the insurance.
For instance, in the state of New York, a small partnership owned by one or two people doesn t need to
purchase workers comp insurance. In North Carolina, a business is only required to have workers
comp insurance if there are at least 3 employees, and at least 10 employees if it is an agricultural ...

They have their own compensation act that will give an injured employee benefits, no matter where
the injury occurred, as long as they were performing a function of their job while receiving a federal
government paycheck. The compensation act also covers any occupational diseases that are sustained
over multiple days or shifts.
When You Are Employed As A Harbor or Longshore Worker
There are some occupations that also have their own compensation acts, such as those that are
employed as a longshore or harbor worker. This covers employees that are responsible for loading,
offloading, and securing ships, as well as ship builders. If injured on the job, the compensation act has
their own process for receiving benefits that would make you ineligible for workers comp.
Keep in mind that you may work in that job field, but still qualify for workers comp benefits. This
includes office workers that are not doing the manual labor.
If you have questions about a workers comp case, speak with a lawyer in your area for a

False Journalism And The Spanish-American War
Journalism is the only source to obtain information to form a personal opinion about events that are
happening in society, but often is fueled by sales and viewership that often presents false reports to
drive popular opinions. The opinions that are presented to the unaware subscriber or viewer can be
dangerous when a person starts to believe in everything that is being presented to them. The
expectation of the news media to present only facts is far from the agenda of media. Whereas, the
media needs to be profitable like any other corporation. For instance, the media started the Spanish
American war through false journalism as competition between two rival newspapers. William
Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer were owners of separate New

This chapter is about the software language and the tools used in the development of the project. The
platform used here is .NET. The Primary languages are C#, VB, and J#. In this project C# is chosen

Microsoft software technologies for rapidly building and integrating XML Web services, Microsoft
Windows based applications, and Web solutions. THE .NET FRAMEWORK The .NET Framework
has two main parts: 1. The Common Language Runtime (CLR). 2. A hierarchical set of class libraries.

There are also efficient means of converting value types to object types if and when necessary. The set
of classes is pretty comprehensive, providing collections, file, screen, and network I/O, threading, and

having different functionalities, with minimum dependency between them. LANGUAGES
SUPPORTED BY .NET The multi language capability of the .NET Framework and Visual Studio
.NET enables developers to use their existing programming skills to build all types of applications and
XML Web services. The .NET framework supports new versions of Microsoft s old favorites Visual
Basic and C++ (as VB.NET and Managed C++), but there are also a number of new additions to the
family. Managed Extensions for C++ and attributed programming are just some of the enhancements
made to the C++ language. Managed Extensions simplify the task of migrating existing C++
applications to the new .NET Framework. C# is Microsoft s new language. It s a C style language that
is essentially C++ for Rapid Application Development . Unlike other languages, its specification is
just the grammar of the language. It has no standard library of its own, and instead has been designed
with the intention of using the .NET libraries as its own. Microsoft Visual J# .NET provides the easiest

Global C Suite Programme On Corporate Executives Essay
INTRODUCTION
A recent study conducted by IBM under its Global C suite programme on corporate executives
revealed that a comparatively low percentage of New Zealand business hold that they understand their
customers (IBM Global Business Services, 2014). According to the study, only sixteen percent of top
corporate executives (CEOs, CFOs, COOs and other C level executives) in New Zealand believe that
they understand their clients or consumers. The figure is relatively low if compared to the global total
of thirty five percent considering the advance economy of the country. The article also pointed out that
significant efforts will be made to improve New Zealand s overall percentage performance to around
82% in the next 3to 5 years.
The study also introduced a new business model in the social media digital age being the everyone to
everyone or e2e economy. What makes it different from the two major types of e business (Xu
Quaddus, 2010) being business to business (B2B) and business to consumer (B2C) that we have come
to know of is the creation of business ecosystems that focuses on the individual customer, the level of
customer experience and engagement, freedom of movement, highly interactive, transparent and
promote synergetic existence among industry players. The growth of online transactions as well as
influence of social media on customer buying decisions are expected to grow exponentially over the
coming years. In order to stay relevant in this fast

Isolation In Ray Bradbury s The Pedestrian
Los Angeles is a land of many things. Many people come in search of fame and fortune only to find
feelings of isolation. In Ray Bradbury s short story The Pedestrian, Leonard Mead experiences
feelings of isolation in Los Angeles in 2052 A.D.. Los Angeles is known to change people in many
ways. People often find themselves isolated after moving to Los Angeles. Leonard Mead is in conflict
with the city of LA, himself, and the mechanized police officer who takes him in. Leonard Mead is
conflicted with the city of LA because he experiences isolation. Leonard Mead is not the only person
that is in conflict with the city of LA. Many famous people today, such as Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot
Chili Peppers, experience these isolated feelings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One person that experiences the same isolated feelings that Leonard Mead experiences is Red Hot
Chili Pepper s lead singer, Anthony Kiedis. Anthony Kiedis is an icon in the music world. He lives in
Los Angeles and experiences the the good and the bad of it. Kiedis sings to the tune of all the people
coming to Los Angeles hoping for fame and fortune in his song, Californication. When Kiedis sings
And if you want these kind of dreams/ It s Californication, he is describing the lost dreams and false
promises associated with Los Angeles and the LA lifestyle. Even though Kiedis is living the life
people come to Los Angeles in search for, he has also experienced the loneliness and isolated feelings
that can be caused by the city. Kiedis went through tough times when he fights drug addiction, and has
to rebuild his life. Kiedis opens up about these feelings of loneliness in many of his songs, and one
example of this in in This Velvet Glove. Kiedis sings about himself as Someone who s been/ Sittin by
the phone, I m left alone/ In another zone. The Los Angeles lifestyle is a cause of Kiedis drug
addiction that creates a serious feeling of loneliness and isolation when he loses everyone in his life.
Kiedis is singing about himself getting ready to inject Heroin, and he is lamenting on his vast array of
drug experiences. Kiedis is waiting for a call that never comes and he feels the bearing weight of
isolation that is created by his Los Angeles lifestyle. Kiedis isolation relates to Leonard Mead s
isolation while walking down the streets of Los Angeles. This is one example that proves Bradbury s
allegory of how LA changes people can be seen

Water Scarcity
Water is one of the most essential resource in world. It is needed everyday by every human, and about
every living organism. It is a crucial factor to be able to have safe drinking water at hand, no matter
where you are in the world. Water is a resource necessary for survival however many countries are
facing the global issue of not having access to safe drinking water or any water at all. Today, water
scarcity is one of the most serious issues in the world. With over 2 million people dying each year, the
majority being kids, from water borne diseases. Along with one sixth of the entire population not
having access to safe drinking water. The hardest hit regions have been countries in the Middle East,
North Africa and sub Saharan Africa. (Fox)
Over 40% of the clean water scare is in sub Saharan Africa. Within Africa, this is by far one of the
most troubling issues. Without the clean water people cannot stay healthy, go to school because the
school lacks clean water and sanitation, nor can they grow food. Women and children in Africa walk
for miles to obtain water from streams and ponds that often contain disease causing organisms, such as
those that cause cholera, typhoid fever, and infant diarrhea. (Greentumble) As it is, 40 billion hours in
manpower are used up every year just to collect water. That comprises 6 precious hours for ever
person every day that could be used to do something else. These reasons are those responsible to the
fact that approximately 50%

The Pros And Cons Of The Seventh Amendment
The ninth amendment is U.S. citizens are guaranteed their rights that are not listed on the Constitution,
such as the right to privacy. Some court cases that are tied with the ninth amendment is the Griswold
v. Connecticut (1965), Regents of the University of California v. Bakke (1978), City of Richmond v.
J.A. Orson Co (1989), Boy Scouts of America v. Dale (2000), and Grutter v. Bollinger.
Griswold v. Connecticut was argued on March 28 29, 1965 and the decision of the Supreme Court was
decided on June 7, 1965. It was questioned whether or not the Constitution protected the rights of
marital privacy (limits government intrusion into private family matters) against restrictions for a
couple to receive counseling on using contraceptives. Mrs. Griswold had given counseling to a
married couple that had wanted to use birth control and it was against Connecticut law to do so. The
Supreme Court s ruling was that married couples have the right to privacy and the law was declared
unconstitutional as it violated the right of privacy. Married couples have the right to private privacy.
The Regents of the University of California v. Bakke was argued on October 12, 1977 and decision of
the Supreme Court was decided on June 26, 1978. It was questioned if the University of California
violated the Equal Protection Clause and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by having an affirmative action
policy that led to repeated rejection of Bakke s application for admission to UC medical school at
Davis.

Emissions Mitigation Essay
Emissions Mitigation Through Provincial and Municipal Policy Development According to Canada s
Emissions Trend report, the two provinces that contributed the most to the country s emissions are the
province of Alberta and Ontario. Alberta has suffered many first hand consequences of high GHG
emissions, notably the massive wildfire in Fort McMurray, a fire that burned 85 000 hectares of land
(MacCleans, n.d.). Ontario on the other hand faced a cooler and wetter summer for 2017. Due to the
high contributions of emissions by Albert and Ontario, these provinces have high priorities to establish
legislation and policies to reduce emissions. However, they have enacted multiple provincial
legislation targeting environmentally sustainable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As mentioned before, Ontario s Planning Act is enforced by a city s Official Plan, a document
outlining and providing guidance for a city s growth and development. However these official plans
do not specify emissions reductions. While there is legislation and action taken by provincial
governments, the same cannot be said for municipal governments. Pathways and Barriers to Emissions
Reductions and Policy As illustrated in Table 1, a large contributor to Canada s emissions is the oil
and gas economic sector, in other words, a large part of the energy production sector. Emissions
reductions policies and legislations have been signed and enacted by by federal, provincial, and
municipal governments. Hughes and Chaudhry analyze the pathways and barriers to emissions
reduction targets that have been set out by the Canadian federal government. The proposed targets are
20% below 2006 levels by 2020 and 60 70% below 2006 by 2050. Hughes and Chaudhry analyze
pathways proposed to non carbon emitting energy sources by the National Round Table on the
Environment and the Economy (NTREE), a Canadian government environmental advisory
organization. One pathway is hydroelectricty. Hydroelectricity, according to Hughes and Chaudhry,
meets ~60% of Canada s electricity needs. In 2008, Canada produced 373 total generation (TWh) of
power through hydroelectricity, and is expected to increase production up to 890

Hannibal Lecter Narcissism
According to the theoretical approaches of Heinz Kohut and Otto Kernberg, normal personality will
develop healthy and stable self regard. However, when high self esteem is taken too far, one can
develop an over inflated sense of self image. This need for attention and an overstated sense of self
admiration is best described as narcissism. In severe cases, narcissism can develop into a narcissistic
personality disorder. According to The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual IV, one who suffers from a
narcissistic personality disorder is at risk for violence. In order to determine if Hannibal Lecter suffers
from a narcissistic personality disorder, his personality traits and actions will need to be analyzed.
There is no debate that Hannibal Lecter s personality is that of a narcissist. Lecter is a well educated
man who knows the laws of society yet he chooses to disobey them because he believes he is above
the law. Furthermore, Lecter thrives on personal power, compliments, and lacks the ability to ... Show

For example, at one point, Lecter states that he could not throw away a letter from Dolarhyde because
it was full of compliments. However, most individuals have the tendency to display these types of
behaviors of narcissism from time to time. So simply stating that Lecter is narcissistic does not
automatically classify him as having a narcissistic personality disorder. The main difference between a
narcissist and one who is suffering from a narcissistic personality disorder is that a narcissist is not
mentally ill. Lecter is obviously suffering from some type of personality disorder and is not just
simply interested in gaining money and reputation like a stereotypical narcissist. He not only kills but
he eats his victims to feel godlike and superior. Furthermore, he feels no remorse. Such behaviors and
characteristics are all classic

kazotsky kick is a taunt that, when preformed, causes the player s character to do a dance to Russian

this taunt is that it can be joined in by anyone, meaning that even if they don t have the taunt or are
even on opposite teams, they can still dance along. As for the unique dialogue, each class has different

Quantifying Information Technology Value
Quantifying IT Value Introduction The rapid evolution of enterprise IT systems in general and
analytics specifically is based on the myriad of information needs companies have. The Chief
Information Officer (CIO) must increasingly be just as much of a strategist as a technologist. This is
increasingly evident in how CIOS are expected to not only cost reduce IT systems but also enable
greater agility in information technologies to drive top line revenue growth (Trkman, McCormack, de
Oliveira, Ladeira, 2010). There are many analytics and reporting frameworks available for tracking the
contribution of each area of a company s value chain. One of the most prevalent is the role of Dr.
Michael Porter s value chain in defining how the functional areas of a business over time need to be
coordinated to deliver profitability (Porter, 1986). For many companies, analytics is the glue or
catalyst that unifies all aspects of the value chain together, ensuring the smooth operation of an
enterprise. With the value chain framework in mind, the intent of this analysis is to evaluate the most
critical key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics of performance to measure the effectiveness
and efficiency of IT strategies throughout an organization. The aggregate based effect of using these
KPIs and measures of performance is to create a foundation for measuring economic value of IT to the
enterprise over the long term. This aspect of measuring the value of information technological is

build and test a new vessel, and two, select and train a crew capable of winning the race. Both
objectives must be completed within 45 weeks, the start of the race, and with a planned budget of $3.2

The team leaders projections show that the cost of starting the race under normal circumstances would
be $3,152,000 (see table 2), however, normal conditions also dictate that the project will require 50
weeks to finish. As with any solid plan, the team leaders have also calculated crash times and costs as
backup options in case the project experiences delays, or in this circumstance an imposed deadline;
the start of the race 45 weeks from now. Analyzing crash times and costs we see that if each activity
were crashed the project could be finished in 42 weeks, however, the budget would skyrocket to
$4.952 million (see table 5). Therefore, the team will need to analyze the project network and its
critical path to determine which individual activities can be crashed while maintaining the integrity of
the budget. Plan to Reduce Project Duration Before deciding which activities should be crashed, Bjorn
and his team first need to have a clear understanding of the project s priorities. To do this the team has
first defined the project s scope and decided to develop a project priority matrix. Defining the project
scope sets the stage for developing a plan and its primary purpose is to define as clearly as possible the
deliverables and to focus project plans (Gray Larson, 2006). The team has

The Role Of The Working Women
Professionalism and employment were once held as an allegation only for men. While men were
working, women were sought out to be innocent and compassionate housewives; only caring for their
homes and families rather than labouring. Throughout history the role of the working women has
progressed drastically, however, the dainty and caring presentation of a woman still remains to be a
flaw. This flaw has built the fundamental depiction of women in films and television, especially within
the workforce such as espionage. Although espionage is considered a treacherous, exhilarating, and
uncommon profession for women, it has developed into a profession with a femme fetal description
rather than an independently vigorous female title. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her stealthy disguise as an exotic dancer was used to an advantage to be a temptress and seduce

there were women like Mata Hari who was out on the field making the known title of a powerful
female who is now considered a cultural icon. Mata Hari was very successful at her job, however, to
this day women are being portrayed similarly to this character with this sexual depiction. Women
worked harder than being remembered for their appearance rather, as mentioned by Tammy Proctor in
Female Intelligence: Women and Espionage in the First World War: In contrast to popular myth, many
women who assumed dangerous jobs in the field worked as soldier not seductresses
The reoccurring motif of the femme fatal spy has been overdone throughout centuries of media and
entertainment. Movies such as The Avengers (1998), Salt (2010), or the Austin Powers trilogy contain
overly sexualized female spies; usually the sidekick. These females although portrayed as risk takers

character Foxy Cleopatra in Austin Powers Gold Member is seen dressed in little to no clothing using

Ways to Prevent School Shootings
School shootings are terrifying to think about, but there are ways to help prevent the massacres from
ever happening again. The first known school shooting was at the Texas Tower at the University of
Texas in 1966 where Charles Whitman shot and killed 16 people while injuring 31 others. Who would
have known since that date that we would have more then 200 deaths on school campuses? The most
storied shooting in the 90 s was probably the Columbine massacre where on April 20, 1999 Dylan
Klebold and Eric Harris killed 32 students and faculty before turning the guns on themselves. The
horror scene from the day will always be remembered in many lives and will continue over the years.
There were many other horrible shootings over the years as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Noticing some early warning signs and not being scared to report them can help someone from
making the biggest mistake of their life and saving people from harms way should start with the love
shown from the parents. Having the parents be in the kids life knowing his or her surroundings at all
time can be the key for prevention. Showing our kids love and attention will not make them want to
do harm to others and having your child talk to you if something is bothering them. When you aren t
in the child s life and not knowing what s going on with them could easily make them feel lost inside
and can turn to depression like our parents don t care about them, a key fact is no matter how busy our
lives with our job and anything else that we might do in our spare time parents should always find
time to spend with our child each day, even if its only for a half hour, each time that we show love can
be a key for our child not to do the unthinkable. The key facts from kids that do the shooting is a lot of
times from being bullied at school or make fun of that will keep there anger all bottled up inside until
one day the anger explodes and the worst scenario happens and that is a school shooting. Parents
should also talk to their child to let them know not to be scared to report things that might seem out of
the ordinary. Kids should always report to authority or a teacher

Analysis Of My First Selected Poem By Jane Hirshfield
My first selected poem is a poem written by Jane Hirshfield called The Poet . The Poet is about a
female poet trying to re discover her skill of creating beautiful poems. When reading this poem, the
reader can infer that this poet is in distress and frustrated because the poet sets a depressing mood. You
almost start to feel a little sympathetic for her, but the mood lightens when the poet finds out that her
poems aren t discovered in a calm and perfect situation. This changes the mood from depressing to
encouraging in just a few lines. My second poem is a poem called Starry Night written by Shirley
Geok lin Lim. The poem is focused on a mother and her son s relationship. This particular mother is
struggling to have a good relationship

What Is Black Beauty Essay
Black Beauty is a book written by a British female author named Anna Sewell. It tells a story of a
horse called black beauty from its own perspective. Once upon a time there was a horse which is black
but with a white star on his forehead. He looked so smart and his master nicknamed him Black Beauty
. Black Beauty was well built, clever and tender. He experienced many ups and downs in his life, and
had many friends, including horses and people. He was ever well reared but he was also treated badly
even tortured nearly to death. When he came to the end of his life, he happened to return to his first
master and spend his rest of life peacefully.
This book is originally written for children but it is not shallow at all because there is much
philosophy, which is fundamental and vital for us but easily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

What is the most important I have learned from this book is that common sense and kindness make a
better world.
Common sense is of great importance in our life, anywhere and anytime. It is unquestionable. For
example, in this book, the so called common sense mainly means the knowledge about how to take
good care of a horse. In other fields, common sense is also needed. Without common sense, we cannot
handle things in a proper and correct way, or lead a good life. A story in this book impresses me a lot.
Once a boy was made to clean the horse black beauty . However, the guy was green handed and he
cleaned it with cold water, not knowing the harm of it; as a result, the horse got ill seriously. It proves
that common sense is necessary. We need common sense. But here comes a question: what on earth is
common sense? Maybe many people will give the answer that something which is known by most
people is common sense. I think it is wrong as many things taken for granted often are found wrong in
the end, such as the tradition of women s being in confinement after giving birth to a child,

Copyright Infringement And Intellectual Property
COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT
CASE STUDY
By
Raja Vijay Kumar Mulleti
INTRODUCTION: In order to understand the concept of copyright infringement first we need to
know about intellectual property and laws that are under intellectual property. Intellectual property is
the property that is the invention or a creative work by one s own idea or knowledge. There is law that
protects this intellectual property by giving some restrictions to the persons who use it; these laws are
called copyright laws. When a person who is using the creative work of another person and when that
person crosses any limit and opposes copyright law, then it is called copyright infringement. Some
cases that are considered as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The 1662 act had been omitted and ignored in 1695, which led to an end for government censorship
and monopoly rule, and in 1710, the parliament made a bill by building the Statute of Anne. This
statue of Anne was to address various major and minor concerns of booksellers and publisher in
England. The act of the year 1710 had set various principles about the authors on the ownership of the
copyrighted content and introduced a constant term on protection of works that are copyrighted and
(for fourteen years, and can further be renewable for another fourteen more years only if the author of
the copyrighted content was not upon expiration date). The rule that prevented the monopoly market

How Did World War I s Technology Affected Trench Warfare
Throughout World War I technology changed the way war was fought and new defensives were
created every day to protect each respective side. Weapons were one of the major technological items
that changed the course of the war from soldiers fighting style from trench warfare to the first line of
defense. Artillery was a new piece of technology that impacted World War I especially during trench
warfare. Artillery was considered to be the number one threat to infantry due to its high explosive
power. Artillery s main use was to counter trench warfare to due to it shot at a trajectory in order to
shoot from a high angle. Artillery was the most impactful technology of World War I due to its high

The first American artillery round in World War I was on October 23, 1917. This demonstrates the
start of the use of artillery from the American perspective. Trench warfare seemed to have settled
down; General John J. Pershing insisted that American troops were to be trained in open warfare. By
the time American troops began to appear on the battlefield in significant numbers, the general did this
in order for the American troops to have skills in open warfare allowing for artillery to be moved
closer in order to attack the infantry thus the war had become more mobile. In 1918, American troops
joined in at Chateau Thierry to halt General Erich Ludendorff s offensive. Counterattacking under a
heavy artillery barrage, they cleared the Germans in 2 weeks. This demonstrates the power artillery
had during the war not only on the side of the Allies but also on the German side as well. On July 4,
allied artillery laid down a devastating barrage for an hour before the enemy s guns attacked. The
enemy fell back and a massive Allied attack was launched. Approximately 3,010 guns of 26 calibers
and 46 models poured 74 types of ammunition into the salient in the 4 hours and 45 minutes prior to
the attack. A total of about 900,000 rounds of ammunition

The Experience of Becoming a Mother
In woman s life, becoming a mother is one of the most exciting and best moment in their life.
Knowing what happen in the growing baby in womb during the pregnancy time can make women
enjoy the exciting moment and help in reduce the nervous of giving birth. According to Trish (2004),
pregnancy is a special time and a healthy life event. During pregnancy time, women also go through
every emotional phase in her life time. A pregnancy woman s body also will undergoes some physical
change. The changes is important to assist for fetal development. There are three stages of pregnancy
which are the first trimester, second trimester and third trimester. (Refer to figure 1 in appendix 1) The
first trimester is the first stage of pregnancy. In this stage, zygote, embryo and fetus development
occur in the first three month. The first two weeks are not actually considered as pregnant. Pregnancy
will start about two weeks after the last period begins. In this stage, the germinal stage begins when
the sperm and the egg unite in woman fallopian tube to form a zygote which is one celled entity. The
formation of zygote occur with fertilization of the oocyte which is the egg and spermatozoon the
sperm combine and form a zygote which is the simplest form of new human and will begin to split and
divide into new cell that will become organized, specialized, and form shapers of new structure as it
become more complex. (Samuel, 2012).

Whether the issue is a continuing problem of significant...
Whether the issue is a continuing problem of significant importance to society, or a relatively new and
unheard of phenomenon, public attention and activism tends to follow similar patterns of cycling
attitudes and behaviors. As Anthony Downs explains in an article written more than 30 years ago,
issues regarding the environment tend to suddenly leap into prominence, remain there for a short time,
and then gradually fade from the center of public attention. He calls this process the issue attention
cycle, one of the most intriguing theories regarding environmental public opinion. Even though this
article was written in the 1970 s, Downs theory contains crucial insight into what is currently
happening with public opinion about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next two stages highlight the decline of interest within environmental issues, resulting in an
immense decline in euphoric enthusiasm. Thus, the third stage of the issue attention cycle is realizing
the cost of significant progress. This entails the spread of a gradual realization that the cost of solving
the problem is much higher than originally expected. More specifically, it would take a great deal of
money and resources, as well as major sacrifices by large groups in the population. This results in a
realization by the public that the problem is usually a direct result from some extremely beneficial
aspect of their lives. For example, smog and air pollution can be a result from the increased use of
cars, so not only would cutting down on how often one drives a car decrease this pollution, but would
also decrease in the advantages that owning a car contains. For some people, sacrificing these
advantages comes as no easy task, and most don t want to sacrifice at all.
Hence, and as Downs so succinctly puts it, the previous stage almost imperceptibly transforms into the
fourth stage; the gradual decline of intense public interest. Essentially, and as more and more people
realize the difficulties and time

The Importance Of Succession Planning
In a publication by HR Council (hrcouncil.ca), it s made known that succession planning is a
continuing supply of qualified, motivated people (or a process to identify them), who are prepared to
take over when current senior staff, and other key employees leave the organization (HR Council,
2017). In the same vein, It has been established that succession planning is a commitment to
developing career paths for employees which will facilitate your organization s ability to recruit and
retain top performing employees and volunteers (HR Council, 2017). Hence, it is glaring that
succession planning will go a long way in solving the main issues at Parkwood which were retention
and always finding it difficult to fill in positions.

Clearly, it shows the un preparedness for emergencies that might occur due to death and early
retirement or job quit.
In line with the above research, and in order to arrive at a proper succession management that will
yield effective result, five steps have been outlined that will aid Parkwood Mennonite Home in
managing their employees not just the four positions under review, but a wider pool of employees. The
steps are:
1. Align Succession Management Plans with Strategy
It is an established fact that Parkwood Mennonite Home is a non for profit organization. However, it
has set targets and prospects for future development which is to be the best care giving home in her
location and region. To this end, Parkwood need to ask the following questions; Are their managers
able to compete with other managers in the field of care? What could be the needed attributes and
skills that will improve the service and care given to residents? With these questions answered, it will
help direct the management in knowing the exact training needed in order to arrive at the succession
management procedure (Belcourt et al., 2013, p. 207).
2. Identify the Skills and Competencies Needed to Meet Strategic Objectives
SA key component of succession planning is for the management to outline the basic skills based on
the future plans and objectives of Parkwood. This is a major step in knowing where to channel the
training (Belcourt et al., 2013, p. 200).
This can also be linked to the job analysis

The Positive Causes Of The American Revolution
Amid growing tension between England and her American Colonists, the British passed the
Intolerable Acts, a law that created a punitive tax for the destruction of Tea in the Boston Harbor.
Though the British saw the Intolerable Acts as a compromise in dealing with the vandalism, the
American colonists were enraged. Their anger led to the creation of the First Continental Congress and
paved the path for the conflict of the American Revolution.
The American Revolution lasted from 1754 to 1788 with the commission of the intolerable acts
occurring in the midst of this during 1774. Great Britain taxed the colonists after the French and
Indian war. This battle marked the beginning of the Revolution. Colonists had been controlling their
own government for years when the British saw fit to tax the 13 colonies. The intolerable acts only
served to fuel the colonist s anger and ultimately ended in the independence of those colonies. Though
the effects may have been negative for the British, the positive outcome for the Americans marked the
beginning of The United States history.
There was a series of events leading up to the intolerable acts that all added to the ire of the colonists.
With a fitting name, the coercive acts were a ploy by the British to gain back control of the colonies.
The Boston Port Act served to close the trade in the city and shut down all commerce there.
Massachusetts Government Act and the Administration of Justice Act were both attempts to gain back

Education, Gender Roles And Humanism
Education, Gender Roles and Humanism in the Renaissance. Throughout the fourteenth and into the
fifteenth century there were a number of tragic events that directly caused a revitalization of society.
This revitalization was needed to restore hope to the people that were living each day for survival.
Some of these events were the destabilization of the Catholic Church with the relocation of the papacy
from Rome to Avignon. This would soon be followed by the Black Death and its mammoth death toll
that lead to the reduction of work forces and uprisings of peasants . At the same time England and
France were fighting a series of wars that were later be deem The Hundred Years War and this battle
would add to a western mindset that was being cultivated to expect death, destruction, violence,
sickness and poverty. In the midst of this depressing and violent society, Italy and more specifically
Florence, saw a need for change and to work towards the elevation of society, the creation of a new
society, and a new mindset to bring about a more civil and cultured society. This lead to a new
philosophy called Humanism and this Humanistic evolution of the educational system involved a total
reconstruction of the university curriculum, as well as the resetting ideals of gender roles. In the
beginning of this new society there was a great admiration for classic Roman culture and this was the
model being used with a great focus on the arts, philosophy, religion, and honor. The

  • 2. The Giant Panda Paradigm Essay The Giant Panda Paradigm The Giant Panda is a creature of mystery. Adults and children alike appreciate it for its cute, fuzzy, lovable qualities, but it is an animal that is in desperate need of immediate attention. Scientists know the basics: how and what they eat, where and how they live, and how they reproduce. The fact remains, however, that this universally loved national symbol of China is facing the threat of extinction. What accounts for this fact and what can be or is being done to protect the panda from such a fate? This paper will discuss the characteristics and lifestyle of the panda as well as issues and questions that arise as a result of the threat of their extinction. Pandas have made their homes in China for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pandas have inefficient digestive systems, and must therefore spend more than ten hours a day eating the amount of food needed for necessary nutrients ((1)). While their dental structures have adapted to the bamboo diet their digestive systems remain closer to those of carnivores ((6)). This results in a low percentage of food digestion in comparison to the amount that it actually ingests ((6)). The Giant Panda is currently threatened in a number of ways. The first threats are to their food sources. The Bamboo Rat is a minor, but existent problem that feeds on bamboo roots, killing plants on an individual level ((6)). Bamboo also undergoes phases of growing and then dying as part of the renewal cycle ((7)). This process is not a problem in itself, except for the fact that whereas the pandas might move to a different location to feed, they are running out of places to move because of the expansions of farmland and increased forest clearing ((7)). The greatest threat of all to the Giant Panda is man. The abovementioned land clearing for farms, residential and commercial areas coupled with prowling poachers are the two most serious threats to the panda and its habitat ((3)). Efforts to set up reserves for the pandas have sparked conflicts with locals. When a reserve is established, people are often not compensated for the loss of land that they have used for years, and they are tempted to continue to use the land illegally ((3)). ... • 3. Workers Comp Insurance Case Study 4 Situations Where You Could Not Collect Workers Comp The purpose of workers comp is to give financial protection to employees that become injured while working for their employer. Unfortunately, not all employees are eligible to receive workers comp. Be aware of these situations where you would not receive benefits. When An Employer Does Not Have Workers Comp Insurance Some employers are not required to purchase workers comp insurance. This is because each state has their own laws concerning which businesses must purchase the insurance. For instance, in the state of New York, a small partnership owned by one or two people doesn t need to purchase workers comp insurance. In North Carolina, a business is only required to have workers comp insurance if there are at least 3 employees, and at least 10 employees if it is an agricultural ... This covers employees that are responsible for loading, offloading, and securing ships, as well as ship builders. If injured on the job, the compensation act has their own process for receiving benefits that would make you ineligible for workers comp. False Journalism And The Spanish-American War Journalism is the only source to obtain information to form a personal opinion about events that are happening in society, but often is fueled by sales and viewership that often presents false reports to drive popular opinions. The opinions that are presented to the unaware subscriber or viewer can be dangerous when a person starts to believe in everything that is being presented to them. The expectation of the news media to present only facts is far from the agenda of media. Whereas, the media needs to be profitable like any other corporation. The .NET framework supports new versions of Microsoft s old favorites Visual Basic and C++ (as VB.NET and Managed C++), but there are also a number of new additions to the family. Managed Extensions for C++ and attributed programming are just some of the enhancements made to the C++ language. Managed Extensions simplify the task of migrating existing C++ applications to the new .NET Framework. C# is Microsoft s new language. • 6. Global C Suite Programme On Corporate Executives Essay INTRODUCTION A recent study conducted by IBM under its Global C suite programme on corporate executives revealed that a comparatively low percentage of New Zealand business hold that they understand their customers (IBM Global Business Services, 2014). According to the study, only sixteen percent of top corporate executives (CEOs, CFOs, COOs and other C level executives) in New Zealand believe that they understand their clients or consumers. The figure is relatively low if compared to the global total of thirty five percent considering the advance economy of the country. The article also pointed out that significant efforts will be made to improve New Zealand s overall percentage performance to around 82% in the next 3to 5 years. The study also introduced a new business model in the social media digital age being the everyone to everyone or e2e economy. What makes it different from the two major types of e business (Xu Quaddus, 2010) being business to business (B2B) and business to consumer (B2C) that we have come to know of is the creation of business ecosystems that focuses on the individual customer, the level of customer experience and engagement, freedom of movement, highly interactive, transparent and promote synergetic existence among industry players. When Kiedis sings And if you want these kind of dreams/ It s Californication, he is describing the lost dreams and false promises associated with Los Angeles and the LA lifestyle. Even though Kiedis is living the life people come to Los Angeles in search for, he has also experienced the loneliness and isolated feelings that can be caused by the city. Kiedis went through tough times when he fights drug addiction, and has to rebuild his life. Kiedis opens up about these feelings of loneliness in many of his songs, and one example of this in in This Velvet Glove. Kiedis sings about himself as Someone who s been/ Sittin by the phone, I m left alone/ In another zone. The Los Angeles lifestyle is a cause of Kiedis drug addiction that creates a serious feeling of loneliness and isolation when he loses everyone in his life. Pathways and Barriers to Emissions Reductions and Policy As illustrated in Table 1, a large contributor to Canada s emissions is the oil and gas economic sector, in other words, a large part of the energy production sector. Emissions reductions policies and legislations have been signed and enacted by by federal, provincial, and municipal governments. • 13. Hannibal Lecter Narcissism According to the theoretical approaches of Heinz Kohut and Otto Kernberg, normal personality will develop healthy and stable self regard. However, when high self esteem is taken too far, one can develop an over inflated sense of self image. This need for attention and an overstated sense of self admiration is best described as narcissism. In severe cases, narcissism can develop into a narcissistic personality disorder. According to The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual IV, one who suffers from a narcissistic personality disorder is at risk for violence. In order to determine if Hannibal Lecter suffers from a narcissistic personality disorder, his personality traits and actions will need to be analyzed. There is no debate that Hannibal Lecter s personality is that of a narcissist. While almost everyone knows about Call of Duty from at least one of its many re embodiments, not a lot of people know about Team Fortress 2. The most unique thing about this taunt is that it can be joined in by anyone, meaning that even if they don t have the taunt or are even on opposite teams, they can still dance along. • 18. Quantifying Information Technology Value Quantifying IT Value Introduction The rapid evolution of enterprise IT systems in general and analytics specifically is based on the myriad of information needs companies have. The Chief Information Officer (CIO) must increasingly be just as much of a strategist as a technologist. This is increasingly evident in how CIOS are expected to not only cost reduce IT systems but also enable greater agility in information technologies to drive top line revenue growth (Trkman, McCormack, de Oliveira, Ladeira, 2010). There are many analytics and reporting frameworks available for tracking the contribution of each area of a company s value chain. One of the most prevalent is the role of Dr. Michael Porter s value chain in defining how the functional areas of a business over time need to be coordinated to deliver profitability (Porter, 1986). For many companies, analytics is the glue or catalyst that unifies all aspects of the value chain together, ensuring the smooth operation of an enterprise. With the value chain framework in mind, the intent of this analysis is to evaluate the most critical key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics of performance to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of IT strategies throughout an organization. The aggregate based effect of using these KPIs and measures of performance is to create a foundation for measuring economic value of IT to the enterprise over the long term. The team leaders projections show that the cost of starting the race under normal circumstances would be $3,152,000 (see table 2), however, normal conditions also dictate that the project will require 50 weeks to finish. As with any solid plan, the team leaders have also calculated crash times and costs as backup options in case the project experiences delays, or in this circumstance an imposed deadline; the start of the race 45 weeks from now. Analyzing crash times and costs we see that if each activity were crashed the project could be finished in 42 weeks, however, the budget would skyrocket to $4.952 million (see table 5). Therefore, the team will need to analyze the project network and its critical path to determine which individual activities can be crashed while maintaining the integrity of the budget. Plan to Reduce Project Duration Before deciding which activities should be crashed, Bjorn and his team first need to have a clear understanding of the project s priorities. To do this the team has first defined the project s scope and decided to develop a project priority matrix. Defining the project scope sets the stage for developing a plan and its primary purpose is to define as clearly as possible the deliverables and to focus project plans (Gray Larson, 2006). By the time American troops began to appear on the battlefield in significant numbers, the general did this in order for the American troops to have skills in open warfare allowing for artillery to be moved closer in order to attack the infantry thus the war had become more mobile. The next two stages highlight the decline of interest within environmental issues, resulting in an immense decline in euphoric enthusiasm. Thus, the third stage of the issue attention cycle is realizing the cost of significant progress. This entails the spread of a gradual realization that the cost of solving the problem is much higher than originally expected. More specifically, it would take a great deal of money and resources, as well as major sacrifices by large groups in the population. This results in a realization by the public that the problem is usually a direct result from some extremely beneficial aspect of their lives. For example, smog and air pollution can be a result from the increased use of cars, so not only would cutting down on how often one drives a car decrease this pollution, but would also decrease in the advantages that owning a car contains. For some people, sacrificing these advantages comes as no easy task, and most don t want to sacrifice at all. Though the British saw the Intolerable Acts as a compromise in dealing with the vandalism, the American colonists were enraged. Their anger led to the creation of the First Continental Congress and paved the path for the conflict of the American Revolution. The American Revolution lasted from 1754 to 1788 with the commission of the intolerable acts occurring in the midst of this during 1774. Throughout the fourteenth and into the fifteenth century there were a number of tragic events that directly caused a revitalization of society. This revitalization was needed to restore hope to the people that were living each day for survival. Some of these events were the destabilization of the Catholic Church with the relocation of the papacy from Rome to Avignon. This would soon be followed by the Black Death and its mammoth death toll that lead to the reduction of work forces and uprisings of peasants . At the same time England and France were fighting a series of wars that were later be deem The Hundred Years War and this battle would add to a western mindset that was being cultivated to expect death, destruction, violence, sickness and poverty. In the midst of this depressing and violent society, Italy and more specifically Florence, saw a need for change and to work towards the elevation of society, the creation of a new society, and a new mindset to bring about a more civil and cultured society. This lead to a new philosophy called Humanism and this Humanistic evolution of the educational system involved a total reconstruction of the university curriculum, as well as the resetting ideals of gender roles.
