Causes Of Alexander The Great
The Empire of Alexander lived on past the death of its founder, but soon fragmented into numerous
smaller kingdoms ruled by his generals. The Macedonian homeland came under the control of the line
of Antigonus I Monophthalmus, a general and satrap under Alexander. The line of Antigonus would
rule Macedon into the middle of the second century BC, when the kingdom was overcome by a
myriad of problems, both internal and external. The reasons for the decline and eventual annexation of
the Kingdom of Macedon include the weakening of the Macedonian army, the chaotic political order
in Macedonia, and the rising might of Rome. The downfall of the Kingdom took nearly 40 years to
achieve, and thus no single reason may be looked to as the cause of Macedon s annihilation as an
independent country. However, the combination, primarily, of those three things as they will each in
turn be highlighted, brought about the undoing of homeland of history s greatest general. In the annals
of history, few leaders are as well remembered, as celebrated, as Alexander the Great. Indeed, his
epithet suggests much both about him as a leader and about popular opinion of him. He among all
other generals and kings in history forged a lasting reputation as the greatest of generals. He held
together a veteran army, and huge empire through force of personality. The loyalty of his generals, the
Diadochi, was his greatest strength as a general, and his greatest weakness as a king. When Alexander
died suddenly at

Using RFID Technology in the Transportation Sector
RFID or radio frequency identification is the name given to the technology that uses radio waves to
transmit data and uniquely identify an animal, person, or thing ( radio frequency identification, 2013).
An RFID system includes a transponder including an antenna and a chip that can easily store a
significant amount of data such as location details, manufacturer details and product numbers if any.
There are three basic types of the RFID readers. Fixed readers with an external antenna which are
often used at the entry points of the yards. Handheld readers are used by personnel moving through
the yards or the space. Then there are mobile readers which are set on the moving vehicles and
moving equipment for increasing accuracy and tracking the process ( Advantages of RFID in
Transportation and Logistics , 2011). In the current times, radio frequency identification technology
has upgraded from anonymity into applications that are rather used normally and as a consequence has
helped in the acceleration of manufactured materials handling (Want, 2006). There are several uses of
RFID in various sectors. However, this paper will only deal with its uses in the transportation sector
and how effectively this modern technology has helped in the growth of business and ease for people
all over the world. RFID technology has a number of applications in the domain of transportation
including electronic toll collection (ETC), electronic vehicle registration (EVR), automatic

Reasons For Green And Blue Spaces
The number of people living in urban areas is dramatically increasing across the world. Currently, 75
% of people live in cities in the developed world, (Bernhardt E.S. and Palmer M.A, 2007) despite such
high percentage many do not get access to the green and blue spaces available, in other words cannot
interact with nature. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency green spaces
are land that is partly or completely covered with grass, trees, shrubs or other vegetation
(Environmental Protection Agency, 2014) This includes community gardens, parks as well as
cemeteries. (Environmental Protection Agency, 2014) On the other hand, blue spaces include rivers,
canals and lakes. (Sally, M, 2010) As urbanisation increases, it will pose a greater threat to nature such
as pollution, habitat destruction, erosion and colonisation of native species. There are various ways to
engage with nature. However, one reason for green and blue spaces not being utilised effectively by
people may be due to people being unaware of the values that these have and the crucial functions
they undertake in the ecosystem such as recycling nutrients and controlling the hydrological cycle.
This essay will explore the social, ecological and economic values of green and blue spaces as a whole
as many of the values interrelate and describe some of the approaches being used to improve access to
nature. These approaches will be classified into three main categories: river restoration,

It Is Efficient When Copying Information
It is efficient when copying information.
Being double stranded means that when the DNA helicase enzyme unzips it, information can be
copied from both strands at the same time. DNA polymerase is responsible for attaching free DNA
nucleotides to the open DNA strands. The DNA helicase enzyme will not stop till it reaches the end of
the strand. Same as the DNA polymerase. When DNA is copied from both the complementary strand
and the template strand, this process is called semi conservative replication. Its information can be
copied easily.
Being single stranded means that the side with the bases are not paired to another strand. When it is
making the proteins, protein synthesis, it will be easy to for the amino acids to attach. mRNA leaves
the nucleus with the copied information and attaches to the ribosome in the cytoplasm. mRNA will
wait for amino acids molecules to attach. If the mRNA was double stranded, it would take more time
for the amino acids to attach.
It is stronger. Having two strands bonded together makes DNA stronger. The strands are joined
together by hydrogen bonds. Hydrogens are very strong bonds. DNA is stable in alkaline environment.
It is lighter to carry around. Since mRNA has to move from inside the nucleus to the cytoplasm.
7. Differences between DNA and RNA;
DNA RNA
It consists of the nitrogen containing bases, namely; adenine, thymine, cytosine and guanine. Adenine

Texas The Lone Star State is certainly a popular destination for those RVers escaping the frigid winter
months of the north. Many snowbirds drive down in RVs enroot to RV parks ranging from small to
enormous. If you enjoy highly organized activities with crafts and dancing, the larger RV parks are
just for you. If you like square or line dancing, this is the place to kick up your heels and start dancing.
If you enjoy exploring wild life; the small town of Rockport attracts bird watchers from all over the
world to visit the famed Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, home of the endangered, migrating
whooping crane and other wildlife species. If butterflies are your favorite, Marble Falls is a great place
to watch monarch butterfly migrations in mid October or Colorado River waterfalls flowing over
marble outcroppings. Full of natural beauty, Texas is sure to keep you busy during the winter

Conflict Palm Oil Analysis
Cashing in Palm Oil for Conservation by Lian Pin Koh and David S. Wilcove
Conflict Palm Oil by the Rainforest Action Network The first article by Lian Pin Koh and David S.
Wilcove discusses the appearance of palm oil in society and the growing predominance it has had in
world over time. They provide a detailed summary of where palm oil is predominately produced, and
what this production has done to the environment over the last few decades. The platform in which the
article was written is with a focus on how the non governmental organizations are benefiting from the
production, as well as how the production has caused irreparable damage. The second article written

(RAN) uses species extinction and climate change as their lens when discussing the ecological
impacts of palm oil, and they use forced labor and child labor as their lens when discussing the
economic impacts of palm oil.
These article took similar view points in terms of how the given data was presented. Both authors used
a data rich lens to look at both the positive and negative outcomes of using palm oil. The first article
was interesting because it presented a series of facts supported by numerous amounts of data to
support these facts. Because the article was written in 2007, it seemed like the data was outdated and
the numbers today would be even more staggering. This addition of current data to the article as a
follow up would only add to the persuasiveness of the article because as a society we have only made
the amount of pollution, overexploitation, and land degradation worse in the last ten years. The second
article presented their data both in terms of ecological and economic impact. They claim that the
production of palm oil is the leading cause of climate change today. I disagree with this statement.

Descriptive Essay On My Winter Trip
There s nothing better than streaming down a mountain filled with snow, ski tips pointed straight, and
reaching a maximum velocity. For me, an annual ski trip in the mountains is an irreplaceable event.
The only problem with these trips is living in Kansas. At best, I must travel 8 tedious hours by car to
the West to obtain my ideal vacation. And the return trip is even worse because the fun is over, your
body and patience is exhausted, and you understand the long week of catching up on to do lists that
will follow. Most often, the excitement of the trip far outweighs the tedious trip home, but in January
of 2013, I might have been convinced otherwise as my trip home was filled with speeding tickets, car
problems, cramped spaces, and almost six extra hours of travel. As my groups last day of skiing at
Wolf Creek Ski Resort came to an end, we went to bed in good time in hopes of leaving very early the
next morning for an equally early return to Newton. As the driver, I was diligently driving through the
twisting and turning mountains with a purpose. For those who have driven in the mountains before,
you are well aware of the difficulties of maintaining a constant speed through steep grades of terrain.
And sure enough, almost 2 hours into our trip home, I see a highway patrolman make a U Turn, flip on
his lights, and I found myself pulling over my car. Cited for going too fast down the mountain, a very
rude and argumentative patrolman did not see validity in my

Failure to report suspected cases of child abuse places them at risk for professional and legal
sanctions, including fines and jail sentences. Those who do not report abuse may be charged for
negligence or accessory to assault. Professionals are ethically and legally mandated to report
suspicions of child abuse to authorities. Most states designate early childhood caregivers, specialists,
and administrators (the common term educators consists of professionals who work with children) as
delegated reporters of child neglect and abuse. Reporting suspicions of abuse enables child protection
services and/or law enforcement to move towards early intervention. Once a person is found to have
neglected or abused a child by criminal or family court, they are registered into the Central Registry of
Child Abuse and Neglect. This registry is confidential by federal and state statute and can only be
accessed as permissible by the law. The service is to ensure that a person who has been determined as
a threat to children are not working in certain fields that involve the supervision or care of children.

The Decline Of The Ottoman Empire
How the Decline of the Ottoman Empire Led to the Armenian Genocide
Extended Essay in History

May 2016

Through the investigation of the changes occurring from the first European presence in the Muslim
world to the end of the Ottoman Empire, this essay attempts to answer why the Armenian genocide
occurred. The Ottoman Empire started its decline when Napoleon entered Egypt in 1798. Napoleon
brought along with him armies but also a new culture. The British did the same with Moghul India.
The elite and people in positions of power were impressed by what the Europeans and the Americans
were doing and seeing how powerful and successful they were. The Turks in the Ottoman Empire
wanted the same. The Young Turks overthrew the Sultan of the time and started a reform of the
Ottoman Empire to try to salvage it. The Young Turks also believed that all people regardless of
religion or ethnicity deserved the same rights.
The Armenians were one of the ethnicities that were in the minority. They obtained more rights when
the policy was put in place. Before the Armenians received their right they were rebelling against the
Ottomans. This was frightening to the majority. Massacres of the minorities, especially the Armenians
started well before 1915, but the killings progressed in 1915. Many of the Armenians were deported
and forced to leave their homes. In 1915

The Death And Life Of Great American Cities
Ten million dollars is a lot of money. When this money has been generated over years of increased
taxes, and is to be put back into a community, it s important to know that this money is being used
wisely. Ten million dollars is the amount of money that the Budlong Woods community is using in
their Tax Increment Financing Redevelopment Area Project. This paper will investigate the current
state of the Budlong Woods community, as well as the specific focus areas of the redevelopment
project and determine whether Budlong Woods is on track to be Chicago s next successful
neighborhood.
Through Jane Jacobs book, The Death and Life of Great American Cities, she details precise features
that make a city successful. Among these, safe sidewalks, lively parks, and diversity of uses and users
are the most important, and will be the focus of study. This paper will compare and contrast the
changes taking place in the Budlong Woods community with those that are successful or unsuccessful
in other city neighborhoods. Through these comparisons it will be determined whether the money
invested in Budlong Woods will drive the community into prosperity, or like many other city
rehabilitation projects, simply be a waste of money that strips the area of its diversity and unique
characteristics.
Budlong Woods is a small community within Chicago s Lincoln Square neighborhood. The specific
boundaries of this quiet, northwest neighborhood are Bryn Mawr to the north, Foster to the south,

five pounds, 17 of them gained 5 to 10 pounds, five gained 10 to 15, and one of them gained 15 to 20

First semester, I was slightly active through intramural volleyball and working out, but this semester

strange for me, and would be for you too if you knew me in high school. Freshman and sophomore

weight lifting competitions. Obviously, I know hoe to workout and stay in shape, but why haven t I in

about working out. After recruitment was over, I told myself that I would work out once I figured out
my schedule and became acclimated on campus. By the time that happened, it was three or four weeks

Hitler s Propaganda For The Nazi Regime
How significant was propaganda for the Nazi regime in 1933 1945?
The definition of propaganda is information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to
promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view . The Nazis used propaganda as a
method to spread their views and to encourage the Germans to support Hitler. Some of the main
themes of propaganda was to demonise groups of people (races, religions e.c.t); to portray Hitler as a
strong and powerful leader; to emphasise the values of Nazi Germany and to promote the idea of an
Aryan Germany having superiority above all other countries. The person in charge of propaganda was
Josef Goebbels, who Hitler placed in charge of the Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda.
This department used many methods to enlighten the public for example different art forms including
music and cinema, radio, the press, literature, rallies, posters and sports.
The Nazis used various different forms of art to subtly put across their messages to the people and
Germany. For example film and theatre which Goebbels thought was essential for influencing the
mass . To do this he made film much more accessible for people so that more people could be
influenced. They did this because they saw the growing interest in film industry, with films growing in
both production and audience. As well as this movies were all regulated by Goebbels which meant that
several foreign films were banned from being watched in Germany.

In recent years, Porter opened a new $50 million 10 gate terminal, increasing take off slots from 167
to 202 (allowing for more flights during the day). Within the last year, Porter Airlines has added
service to Newfoundland and Charleston, South Carolina. The company is currently approaching the
completion of an underground tunnel, which will increase and improve traffic flow from the terminal
to the main land compared to the original transportation via ferry. It has long been assumed that in the
recent years Porter has plateaued. Billy Bishop is restricted to 202 landing slots daily, and the Q400s
can t fly any farther than Porter already flies them. Due to this, in April 2013, Porter announced
expansion plans to increase its customer base. The plan stated that their goals would be accomplished
through increasing the number of destinations, acquiring 30 Bombardier CS100 Jets, and increasing
the airport runway by 300 meters on each end. However their plan has been met with many
challenges, because Porter s plans require regulatory and facility changes to its Billy Bishop Toronto

Computer Vs. Personal Computers
Smart phones and computer have been around for quite a while, but the only difference is that the
personal computers have been around way longer than smart phones. Before computers were a big
deal, but now it s all about smart phones and new ones that are launching soon. People may not think
so much about personal computers because today s generation is all about smart phones now. I
understand that people can have their own personal opinion and may disagree with what I m saying,
but my opinion is that personal computers are better. Personal computers is a better, electronic than
smart phones because personal computers are not a distraction, and are a lot more helpful. First,
personal computers are less distracting. Computer actually need access to Wi Fi in order to do
anything. I believe computer are better because if you have no Wi Fi then you can t access your social
media and wouldn t be distracted. You also won t be distracting while driving because you won t have
Wi Fi and it is actually safer because you can pay more attention to driving than being on social
media. Computers also don t receive text messages nor phone calls, which is a good thing. This
electronic is also good for when doing homework because you can listen to music, type better, and
faster on the keyboard. In contrary, smartphones are very distracting. Smartphones can be helpful
when you can t access Wi Fi for google maps or just looking up a store for hours, email and other

Pow 3 Rectangles
Problem statement:
What you are trying to find is how many rebounds and in what corner will a pool ball land. Each shot
will start at the lower left corners and will always start moving at a 45 degree angle. The table is a
rectangle with pockets in each of the four corners. The pool table has whole number dimensions. I am
trying to figure out the patterns or formulas for the pool table.
Process:
I first started making squares and rectangles on a graph paper, and did this in a group of three. Then I
started drawing lines at a 45 degree angle, if they hit one of the sides of the wall then I would keep on
drawing the lines at a 45 degree angle until the ball would go into one of the pockets. If you wouldn t

But the one thing that I didn t quite get to is the super solution but all of my mini solutions work for all
sorts of rectangles. My solutions were two of the same numbers always equal zero. I know that this
works because if you do a 6 by 6 you would get 0 rebounds. A number and one are always the number
subtracted by one. If you do a 4 by 1 you would get 3 rebounds. If the dimensions can be reduced to ½
then the rebound will be one. For example, an 8 by 4 has one rebound. If the dimensions have a two in
it, then the other number is the number of rebounds that you have. For example, If you had a 7 by 2
there would be 7 rebounds. You take the first dimension and add it to the second dimension and
subtract it by 2. This one works for most of them but not all of them. For example, if you had a 9 by 7
then there would be 14 rebounds. The ball never lands in the corner, it was shot from. I looked at all
the pictures that I drew to figure out the formulas and noticed that the corner the ball was hit from,
never ever landed in the corner that it was hit from. Finally, if there are 0 rebounds then the ball will
land in the corner diagonal from the corner it was shot. I figured this out by looking at the rebounds
and pictures that I drew for the 0 rebounds. Those were all of the formulas and patterns that I found.
This is a one by one which has 0

detonates. There is great amount of kinetic force that is released in the form of a shock wave. This
alone can cause death, as well as serious injury to people in the area, and the severity of this injury is
determined by the strength of the device and proximity to the actual event at the time of detonation.
Secondary injuries or casualties might be caused from materials that are projected by the force of the
blast. Furniture, building materials, and in some cases, people themselves can be thrown with such
force that upon impact with another person can cause grave damage. Next there is a thermal element
to such a device. Detonation of any explosive creates a large amount of heat that is a by product of the
chemical reaction of the explosive material as it is set off. People in the immediate area would be
severely injured or killed by this element alone. Once again the radius of damage would be
proportional to the relative proximity to the device upon detonation. Last but not least with this type of
device is the radiological property. The explosive element is almost secondary as it serves as a

How Does Lava Temperature Affects Viscosity And Velocity
Lava temperature impacts viscosity and velocity because a high lava temperature means that there is
lower viscosity and that there is a higher velocity. For Room group A in C period, the lava flowed not
too fast and not too slow. The average velocity for this group was 4.23 cm/second. The length of the
pancakes was either 12 cm or 13 cm and the time that it took to travel throughout the pancake ranged
from 2.09 seconds to 4.46 seconds. The syrup flowed faster than the Cold group s syrup did, while it
flowed slower than the Hot group s syrup did. Room A group s data was pretty good data and there
was not many mistakes that led to an outlier. The only way that the data was slightly influenced was
that someone dumped the cup and it spilled all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This happens because the room temperature syrup has more energy, causing the molecules to spread
apart. For the team hot average, the average was 7.15 cm/second. The range of data for averages was
1.7 cm/second to 15.79 cm/second. There are clearly some big differences between the former and the
latter. This happened because they are outliers. That data may have been messed up because the syrup
was taken off of the crockpot too early, cooling down the syrup making it have more viscosity and a
smaller velocity. Another way that these trials could have been messed up is if someone threw the
syrup at the plate when they were pouring it, and the speed of the pouring caused a very high velocity.
The hot syrup flowed faster than room and cold syrup because it had a lower viscosity. The hot syrup
had a lower viscosity because it had the highest energy out of the three temperatures, causing the
molecules to be more spread out. Gas, water, and silica also have an effect on the viscosity of lava.
Water makes the viscosity of the lava lower because it thins out the lava. Gas makes the pressure
increase in high viscosity magmas, while when the gas escapes the viscosity

A Revolution of the Distressed Essay
A Revolution of the Distressed
The world today is faced with many obstacles concerning all the peoples of the world. The issues
range from globalization to the state of the environment with every political, economic, and human
interest lying in between. It is these human interests that will be brought to light by examining the
revolutions of the Incan indigenous beginning in the early part of the twentieth century. Running
parallel to their North American neighbors, the native peoples of Peru have lived in seriously
impecunious conditions as the result of ethno racial discrimination handed them by their colonial
occupiers; Spanish speakers. These revolutions, namely Shining Path, would eventually define the gap
between the rich ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ever since the time of Spanish colonial rule, Incans were being treated completely unfairly. And in the
late 18th century, Peru began to see the first of its native revolutions under Jose Gabriel Tupac Amaru
II in 1780. These uprisings were headed by Indian nobility who showed antipathy towards the Spanish
administration as a result of being forced to subject their own people to taxes, unfair market prices,
and slave labor. The Incans throughout the time of Spanish colonial rule had hopes for the renewal of
their age old empire. However despite at least 100 revolts against colonialism the empire was never
revived. (Strong 41)
It was not until the 1920 s that the Incan rebellion would make any significant progression excluding
the pride they may have taken in brutal revenge and retaliation murders and massacres against
Spaniards. In this decade Peru witnesses the first shift from predominantly unorganized revolution to
serious political development. Although the movement known as Alianza Popular Revolucionaria
Americana (APRA) was crushed under the Leguia regime, the faction was the first political party to
legally call for reform in regard to the condition of the highland populations or peasantry. Strong
points out that its leader, Victor Haya de la Torre, had a poem

The Problem Of Nuclear Power
Nuclear power is one of the most controversial issues of today s society. This stems from the fact that
although nuclear power holds vast amounts of potential, it currently has many problems. One of the
main problems is figuring out what to do with the waste. The waste itself is too dangerous to dispose
of in any conventional way, so presently, most of it is sealed in concrete casks and put into storage (in
bunkers) until it stops being dangerous. This might not seem like a bad idea at first, but the problem
with this idea is that the waste won t stop being dangerous for many, many years. There have to be
better solutions to this problem.
As it turns out, there are a few. The most promising in the short term is to recycle the nuclear waste,
like any normal type of waste. In order to understand how this and some other solutions work, a crash
course in basic nuclear physics will be provided. Now, that might sound a bit difficult, but it s actually
pretty simple, and chances are some of it was taught in elementary school science class. Anyone who
feels they already know what they need to know, or can t be bothered to read it, should feel free to
skim through or skip the crash course.
Let s get started! Every physical object in existence is made of atoms. Atoms are made of three basic
components: protons, neutrons, and electrons. Protons carry a positive(+) electrostatic charge,
electrons carry a negative( ) electrostatic charge and are about a thousandth the mass of a proton,

Essay On The Father Figure In Romeo And Juliet
A father figure is someone who is respected for his paternal qualities and may be an emotional
substitute for a father. William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet is a tragic story where a pair of star
cross d lovers take their lives when their feuding families prevent them from being together. When
Romeo and Juliet fall in love, Friar Lawrence plays a pivotal role acting as a father figure which
influences several actions in the play. Friar s role as a father figure in Romeo and Juliet is central to
understanding his support for Romeo s love for Juliet, his advice for Romeo to go to Mantua, and his
guidance for Juliet to fake her death. Friar s acceptance for Romeo s love for Juliet is one way that
Shakespeare portrays his role as a father figure in the play. An example of this can be seen in Act 2,
Scene 3 when Friar reprimands Romeo just as a father would for being out all night and falling in love
with another girl. The Friar states, Young men s love then lies / Not truly in their hearts, but in their
eyes. Friar says this to Romeo when he has fallen in love with a girl named Juliet so soon after being
in love with Rosaline. This proves how Friar acts as a father because he cares for Romeo and his well
being even though he is not his son. He takes the time to understand Romeo s situation and give him
some useful advice on what his next steps should be. Friar s support for Romeo s love is just one way
Shakespeare portrays his fatherly figure in the tragic play of Romeo and Juliet. Secondly, Friar is at
his most fatherly when Romeo has killed Tybalt and is distressed about being banished. The Friar tells
Romeo to go to Mantua and be patient until things have settled down in the town of Verona. After
some time has passed and fixed some issues, Friar tells Romeo that the two lovers can once again be
reunited. He states: But look thou stay not till the watch be set, For then thou canst not pass to Mantua,
Where thou shalt live till we can find a time To blaze your marriage, reconcile your friends, Beg
pardon of the Prince, and call thee back With twenty hundred thousand times more joy Than thou

Non-Consensual Property Rights
Non Consensual Property Rights
Some form of classification is necessary to aid attempts to bring order to a confusing and confused
area of law. If the events from which non consensual property rights arise can be classified, then the
law s response is more likely to be consistent and coherent. Yet there are problems. The very nature of
the facts that are brought before courts in the sorts of cases that comprise this area of law demand
fairness, and legal policy considerations lurk behind every rationalisation. This makes it more difficult
to achieve coherence, but our task is less demanding than achieving coherence in the law: we only
need to look at the sets of facts that give rise to property ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He and one of the beneficiaries told the other beneficiaries that the best way to realize the value of the
shares would be to make a takeover bid. In the end, Mr Boardman made such a bid, successfully, in
his personal capacity. However, this became an event giving rise to non consensual property rights, a
wrong, because he only gained the opportunity to do this and the information necessary while
purportedly (or actually) acting in the capacity of adviser to the trustees. Mr Boardman did not act
dishonestly in the sense that he deliberately set out to deceive the beneficiaries. After his actions they
effectively doubled their money . Viscount Dilhorne, who dissented, was prepared to hold that the
authority of Regal v Gulliver (a case with similar facts which he distinguished on the ground that there
the fiduciary held assets originally belonging to the trust which wasn t the case in Boardman) required
wrongdoing which was absent in the case before him because the trust had not suffered a loss. The
reasoning of the majority did indeed beget a strict rule; that an agent is liable to account for profits he
makes out of trust property if there is a possibility (my italics) of conflict between his interest and his
duty to the principal (Lord Cohen).

Slavery In The Canterbury Tales, By Geoffrey Chaucer
The Canterbury Tales is a collection of more than 20 stories, written in Middle English around the
1380s, during the Hundred Years War, by Geoffrey Chaucer. Within a narrative about a pilgrimage,
(from Southwark to the shrine of Saint Thomas Becket at Canterbury Cathedral) Chaucer sets a series
of stories. These collection of stories are built around a frame narrative, which was an already
established and common genre of the 14th century. (The tales are in verse, except The Parson s Tale
and Chaucer s own story of Melibee which are in prose.) Chaucer s collection of tales differs from
other story compilations, since most story collections are focused on a theme, usually on a religious
one. In Boccaccio s Decameron (which contains more parallels ... Show more content on

Also, Chaucer doesn t pay much attention to depict the pilgrimage. The pilgrimage is a tool, used to
gather the different classes of the English society of its period. Chaucer s attention is focused on the
stories being told, not on the journey itself. Also, the tales continually mirror the clashes between
social classes. These classes can be divided into three main groups: the commoners and peasantry, the
nobility and the clergy. The Wife of Bath s Tale belongs to the second one, and deals with the subject
of authority in married life. This story is unusual in the collection, since its prologue is longer than the
actual tale. For the other tales, the prologue is a kind of introduction, but The Wife of Bath s Tale is
more like a sequel to its prologue. The prologue is the autobiography of The Wife(Alyson), in which
she tells us much about herself. She speaks directly from her experience of marrige, while her tale is
an illustration of her theories. In the General Prologue we can learn about The Wife s physical
appearance, her way of life, and her character, while Chaucer introduces hints, which he intends to
extend later in the narrative.

Clarkson Lumber Case Analysis Essay
Statement of the Problem
At first glance, Clarkson Lumber appears to be a healthy company. However, despite rapid growth and
increasing sales Clarkson Lumber finds itself searching for additional funding to compensate for a
shortage in cash to fund its expanding business. Clarkson Lumber is in this situation for a number of
reasons.
The company s inability to receive payments from customers in a timely manner created a severe
impact in the company s cash flows. The age of account receivables increased each year. In 1995 it
took 49 days on average to receive payments from customers. Because of the delay in accounts
receivable, Clarkson Lumber s ability to pay suppliers on time is also impacted. In 1995 it took
Clarkson 38 days on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We noticed the following financial health indicators in our forecast: Clarkson Lumber s ratio of total
assets to sales is moving from a position in line with high profit outlets to low profit outlets at 37.7%.
This is due to accounts receivable increasing to 14% of sales which is higher than the 13.7%
experienced by low profit ratios. Also, inventory as a percentage of sales has steadily increased from
11.5% in 1993 to 13.5% in 1996.
In order to expand and remain financially stable, Clarkson Lumber must take advantage of all trade
discounts. Exhibits A 1 A 2 compares the impact to net income with and without the trade discounts.
In conclusion Clarkson Lumber would need an estimated $833,000 in additional financing as shown in
exhibit B 2. Therefore, Clarkson Lumber would not be able to expand in 1996.
Recommendation
As Mr. Clarkson s financial advisor, we would caution him on expanding his business given the
current financial trends and ratios of the company. The investment in inventory and receivables is too
high. As a result, Clarkson Lumber s return on assets, return on equity and invested capital are lower
when compared to other high profit outlets as shown in exhibit C. Additionally, a significant increase
in debt, such as a $750,000 loan, will further reduce the current ratio of the company. Clarkson
Lumber could benefit from some changes in its collection policies for

Globalization and the Northern Territory Intervention
Globalization, a contested concept among leading theorists in its definition, chronology, and
measurement of effects, is almost certainly of a multidimensional nature if such theorists perspectives
are all taken equally into consideration. The broad phenomenon of globalization can therefore be
scrutinised more closely by separation and analysis of individual dimensions, such as its political,
economic, cultural and ecological dimensions. This approach, while allowing for a more focused
examination of the causes and effects of globalization within a single dimension, serves to highlight
the interconnectedness of each dimension. The following essay will expose the complex

The political dimension of globalization is evident in the harnessing of neoliberal ideology to enforce
and justify sanctions upon Indigenous communities within the Northern Territory (Craig Porter, 2006;
Scrimgeour, 2007). Several of the more contested components of the Northern Territory Intervention
were born of think tank publications, which set this neoliberal agenda (Scrimgeour, 2007).
Neoliberalism is fostered by a global network of think tanks, which are underwritten by corporate
sponsors and bring elitist ideals into the mainstream and popular opinion (Scrimgeour, 2007).
Australia s major think tanks are the Institute for Public Affairs (IPA) and the Centre for Independent

Such think tanks, promoting neoliberal ideals of deregulation, liberalization, and privatisation of the
market and public assets, as well as supporting the dismantling of the welfare state, have considerable
influence on the ideology of the Government in forming policy (Scrimgeour, 2007). From 2000 to

Biography Of Benvenuto Cellini ( 1500 )
Benvenuto Cellini (1500 1571) was an autobiographer, goldsmith, musician, sculptor, and soldier.
Cellini was born in Florence, Italy. Born of Giovanni Cellini and Maria Granacci, he was their second
child. His name came from Old Italian welcome (bene well + venuto arrived ). It was commonly a
name given to a much desired and long awaited child. His father Giovanni was a musician and maker
of musical instruments, and in turn pressured Cellini into music from an early age. Cellini was not as
passionate about playing the flute as his father wanted him to be, which often caused strife between
the two. At the age of fifteen Cellini grew interested in goldsmithing, which his father objected to.

examine, Cellini was talented in a number of areas, but he never really reached the level of mastery
that was seen by many other renaissance men. He can still be considered a renaissance man because of
the notable achievements he made in smithing, art, and music. At the age of fifty eight Cellini started
writing his autobiography. He began writing it himself but soon chose to dictate to a young of boy

honor to his already prestigious lineage, saying: I intend to write the story of my life with a certain

Separation Between Church And State
Over the years many things have changed, the clothes people wear, the music they listen to and the
cars the drive. We live in a society where things can change in the blink of an eye, but is change
always good? Could things change because things have been taken out of context? That is just what
has happened to Thomas Jefferson. Has the true meaning of Thomas Jefferson s Separation between
Church and State taken out of context today?
One side defends that the true context remains intact. Saying that religion should play no part in the

Legal Obligations And Ethical Conduct
One of the most difficult issues that challenges veterinarians, nurses and other veterinary practice staff
now a days involves their responsibilities to the animals and the occasional conflicting demands from
clients and society (Rollin, 2006). Their roles have become more difficult with new ethical challenges
modeled by issues such as growing public awareness concerning animal welfare, increasing ownership
of companion animals, growth of veterinary specialism, experimentation with medicine, and concern
for pain management and mental well being of animals (Rollin, 2006). Legal Obligations and Ethical
Conduct The RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons) Code of Professional Conduct sets out
veterinary staffs professional responsibilities as well as supporting guidance that provides further
advice on the correct standards of professional practice (RCVS, 2014). The Code and supporting
guidance are vital for veterinary staff in their careers and for RCVS regulation of the profession
(RCVS, 2014). Every so often, the professional responsibilities in the Code may conflict with each
other and veterinary staff may be given a problem (RCVS, 2014). Within these situations, veterinary
staff should be able to balance the professional responsibilities, having concerned the welfare of the
animal first (RCVS, 2014). Veterinary staffs seek out to guarantee the health and welfare of animals

How Causation Is A Relation Between Events Or States Of...
1. (a) In Chisholm s paper, Human freedom and the self, Chisholm notes that causation is a relation
between events or states of affairs. For example, if the roof in my house cave in during a hurricane this
would be something that was caused by several other events such as the roof being too weak, the rain
pressure being too much for the roof to hold, excessive rain, etc. With this term, Chisholm created two
other narrower terms to specifically describe the different types of causations. The first causation is
transeunt which is when one event or state of affairs causes other events or state of affairs. An
example of Transeunt causation is if I threw a piece of paper in a recycling bin my event would be
recycling but the unknown event cause by this event would be more oxygen in the world for people to
breath in because that paper can be reused instead of having to cut more trees down and cutting down
our oxygen. The second type of causation would be Immanent causation, which is when an agent (or
person) causes an event or state of affairs. An example of Immanent causation is me recycling the
paper because I m the agent who recycled the piece of paper, it wasn t done by another event. During
the paper, Chisholm reflects on two objections and takes his defense on both. The first one being
simply a fact of (a) He could have done otherwise means no more nor less than and (b) If he could
have chosen to do otherwise, he would have done otherwise. The second objective has a

George Washington And Thomas Jefferson
John Adams (1735 1826) has the historically unfortunate position of being president between two
American icons, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. His presidency is often overlooked by
scholars and even occasionally viewed as an undeserving president who won the office out of early
American political maneuvering (McCullough 2001, 29). Nonetheless, he led the young nation during
the end of the French Revolution and the emergence of Napoleon Bonaparte, a globally tumultuous
period. The nation, and the world, has changed dramatically since the end of the eighteenth century.
However, the domestic and foreign concerns that Adams had to manage and attempt to resolve are still
relevant to current circumstances. Even though Adams only served one term over 200 years ago,
through an analysis of his background, personality, presidential leadership and managerial style, and
his interactions with Congress and the American people, a twenty first century incoming president is
able to learn from Adams mistakes and triumphs.
Life Before the Presidency John Adams was raised in a Puritan household in colonial Massachusetts
during the eighteenth century. Although not a deeply religious or pious man, the Puritan values of
selfless service, modesty, and unflinching dedication were deeply instilled into Adams at a young age
and would have lasting impacts on his personality and work ethic throughout his life (McCullough
2001, 54). After attending Harvard, Adams launched his legal career

Persuasive Essay On Pedestrians
Walk Your Wheels: The Danger of Bicycles in Pedestrian Sidewalks
I glance down at my phone for a moment and I realize that my 15 minute margin of travel time to race
across campus to my class is dwindling; I look up only to find an individual on a bicycle hurdling
toward me, clearly, incapable of stopping in time, I scramble out of the way in an attempt to save
myself from becoming roadkill. This is a common occurrence for student pedestrians on their way to
class given the increasing number of bicyclists and skateboarders that refrain from following
university transportation laws, however, instead of criminalizing the act of using these modes of
transportation on pedestrian sidewalks the university should make it safer and more efficient for these
individuals to share the roads with cars by installing bicycle lanes. This issue is important to all
campus residents, since the incorrect use of transportation could jeopardize their safety and should be
carefully considered in order to prevent accidents. This proposal argument will aim at persuading
university officials, specifically those in charge of the university transportation services, to reconsider
their handling of bicycle and other non motorized transportation rules and safety on campus. There are
many rules that bicyclists and other alternative transportation users must follow, for example, bicycles
[are] not [to] be ridden on sidewalks or any pedestrian paths in the limited bike zone [central campus]

Carvers Cathedral Essay
Carvers Cathedral
Plato s Myth of the Cave and Carver s Cathedral provide insight into parallel words. The protagonists
in each story are trapped in a world of ignorance because each is comfortable in the dark, and fearful
of what knowledge a light might bring. They are reluctant to venture into unfamiliar territory.
Fortunately the narrator in the Cathedral is forced by circumstances to take a risk. This risk leads him
into new world of insight and understanding.
The narrator in The Cathedral begins the story with the issue of hesitation in seeing the light. The light
in this story just like the light in Plato s Myth of the Cave represents reality. The narrator expresses the
fear of expressing reality when he said I wasn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fire and the shadow provided the only reality for them. This was their source of knowledge and
their source of contact with the world. For these people their cave life and their ignorance created a
world worse than the blind man s.
Unknown to the prisoners in the cave an elevated causeway crosses through the cave. The prisoners do
not know where this road will lead them. In Carver s Cathedral , the narrator did not realize that the
blind man was in his causeway out of ignorance. He did not realize that the simple act of his wife
inviting the blind guest would lead to major new discoveries about himself and his ignorance. The
narrator s wife has been exposed to knowledge, which is what Robert represents in this story, for many
years. She was more aware of the world because of her relationship with Robert. This exposure was
instrumental in presenting her husband with a learning opportunity. Her husband was given the
opportunity to see the light. This was territory into which he would have never ventured on his own.
His fears from his own cave prevented such risky behavior. This was opportunity for him to learn,
grow, and develop in a myriad of ways. He would gain in his relationship with his wife. He would
gain new insights about himself, and most of all he would gain knowledge that would pull him out of
his own cave. The narrator saw the blind man drink and smoke cigarette down to the nubbin . He saw

Justice And Revenge In The Literary Works Of Agatha Christie
Justice and Revenge
Living in today s society when justice has failed, because often seek revenge. (AG) Societal structure
and order create the chaos of vengeance because when it fails, they would have the stress to seek the
vengeance that they want. (SS) Individuals should not seek revenge when justice has failed because
revenge is chaos, hurtful, and troubling. This can be seen in the literary works of Agatha Christie and
A.B. Guthrie. Both authors explore the universal theme that when justice fails, revenge will follow.
The characters in the stories plan and execute their revenge after justice has failed.
Those who seek revenge do so because it can create chaos. (TS) In the short historical fiction, Bargain,
by A.B. Guthrie, a german immigrant, Mr. Baumer, has taken law in his own hands when he is bullied

(TS) For example, In Agatha Christie s murder mystery, And Then There Were None, 10 guests were
invited to an island and they were killed one by one and each death was from a childish rhyme, the 10
little soldiers. When Justice Wargrave sent the letter, he said that he killed those 10 people just because
he wanted to commit a mystery murder and he didn t feel guilty. For some years past I have been
aware of a change within myself, a lessening of control a desire to act instead of to judge. I have
wanted let me admit it frankly to commit a murder myself (287). This is important because his motive
was just to create a murder mystery. This could have been revenge on the 10 guests murders, but the
people thinking about the deaths were really hurtful and emotional to them. When each of them were
dying, people were scared and emotional to everyone. Some may say that individuals should seek
revenge when justice has failed. However, this doesn t consider because people s motive was for
justice so why if it fails, do it for yourself and change your motive and it could lead to bad

Unit 207 Understand Person Centred Approaches Essays
Unit 207 Understand person centred approaches in adult social care settings.
Outcome 1 Understand person centred approaches for care and support.
1.1 Define Person centred values.
Person centred values means the people whom we support are treated as equals and are involved in all
aspects and areas of their care and that they are respected and valued as individuals. This means being
involved in their assessments, care delivery and support planning, basically person centred values is
making sure all approaches, policies and procedures and care practices put the residents at the centre
of the day to day activities. It should also include the residents and their families in the planning and
maintaining of this.
1.2 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The development of a support plan is the perfect example of how person centred working operates.
Instead offering people a choice of what is currently available and finding what best fits their needs,
person centred working looks at someone s needs and built the support package around them. One of
the important aspects of person centred planning is to look at what people are able to do for
themselves and to ensure that services are not taking over aspects of a person s life that they could
perfectly well manage without support.
Outcome 3 Understand the importance of establishing consent when providing care or support.
3.1 Define the word consent
Consent is the informed agreement to an action and/or decision. Permission for something to happen
or agreement to do something.
3.2 Explain the importance of gaining consent when providing care or support.
When working with an individual it is important to uphold their rights to be fully involved in their
own care, whilst adhering to legal requirements. It is also the individuals right to refuse any care,
support or treatment they do not want. It is also essential that people not only give you their consent
but also that they understand what they are consenting to and the implications of this. Gaining consent
protects not just the career but the individual receiving the care and support as well. If no consent is
given then you cannot proceed with the care. It is illegal to pressure anyone into

A Country Isn t Born From One Of The Most Beautiful...
A country isn t born from one day to another, and they all have a history. It s certain that they have
come a long way, but because of the sacrifices they ve had to make along the road. Mexico, being one
of the most beautiful countries, has a reputation for its beaches, food, and tourist attractions, but all
that glitters is not gold. Mexico attracts tourist from all over the world and its culture has spread to all
parts of the world, but it s not so pretty side, crime, has also had an impact on the world. Its crime
levels have risen and drug trafficking has also been a huge problem, especially in the United States.
With that being said, Mexico has a beautiful culture and some of the friendliest most humble
individuals. It s probably one of the facets that has remained constant over the years. Mexico s history
has not only affected them, but also the world around them.
Mexico consists of 31 states, with its capital being Mexico City. Its story and past cultures can be seen
throughout the country and its artifacts. Many of the rural areas are still inhabited by indigenous
people. Lots of these indigenous people would be able to tell you the difference between their
ancestors lives and their own life. These changes would include crime, government, and other social
issues. Mexico started off with civilizations. The first known civilization was The Olmecs. They
settled near Veracruz, but had two key population groups. One was San Lorenzo which lasted from
1200 to 900 B.C. and

`` Speak, By The Maya Angelou
An Untold story There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you. said by one of
America s most controversial and most banned writer, the late Maya Angelou. This statement also
aligns to a 1999 contemporary classic novel, Speak, where a young freshman, Melinda Sordino, faces
isolation and depression to an event that occurred over the summer, one that only she knows about. In
the novel, Melinda hangs up a poster of Maya Angelou in her make shift janitor s closet hangout.
Laurie Halse Anderson uses Maya Angelou as a figure for Melinda to learn and change by in the novel

Too bad she can t hear it. (Anderson 28). Melinda often backs down under pressure whenever she is
confronted by teachers or students, getting to the point where it gets her in trouble or gets harrassed.
She can change it. On Stanza 6 of Angelou s poem, Still I rise, It quotes You may shoot me with your
words, / you may cut me with your eyes, / you may kill me with your hatefulness, / but still, like air, I
rise. (Still I Rise). Angelou has confidence regardless of what others think, say, or do, She keeps rising
and standing up to her problems, unlike Melinda. Melinda could learn to have more confidence, more
hope and faith. She could learn from Angelou that though people try to put her down, she still arises.
And so should she. Lonely is not being alone, but the feeling that no one cares. Melinda believes she
is alone and needs a friend, but she thinks that she does not need a true close friend, that she can make
it through it alone. Melinda could learn from angelou that you need someone. On page 22, it says, I
need a new friend. I need a new friend, period. Not a true friend, nothing close or share clothes or
sleepover giggle giggle yak yak. Just a pseudo friend, disposable friend. Friends as accessories. Just so
I don t feel or look stupid. while she agrees she needs a friend, she thinks she does not have to be close
enough to talk, to confide in.which results in her misery. In Angelou s poem, Alone, in stanza 5, she

  • 4. Causes Of Alexander The Great The Empire of Alexander lived on past the death of its founder, but soon fragmented into numerous smaller kingdoms ruled by his generals. The Macedonian homeland came under the control of the line of Antigonus I Monophthalmus, a general and satrap under Alexander. The line of Antigonus would rule Macedon into the middle of the second century BC, when the kingdom was overcome by a myriad of problems, both internal and external. The reasons for the decline and eventual annexation of the Kingdom of Macedon include the weakening of the Macedonian army, the chaotic political order in Macedonia, and the rising might of Rome. The downfall of the Kingdom took nearly 40 years to achieve, and thus no single reason may be looked to as the cause of Macedon s annihilation as an independent country. However, the combination, primarily, of those three things as they will each in turn be highlighted, brought about the undoing of homeland of history s greatest general. In the annals of history, few leaders are as well remembered, as celebrated, as Alexander the Great. Indeed, his epithet suggests much both about him as a leader and about popular opinion of him. He among all other generals and kings in history forged a lasting reputation as the greatest of generals. He held together a veteran army, and huge empire through force of personality. The loyalty of his generals, the Diadochi, was his greatest strength as a general, and his greatest weakness as a king. When Alexander died suddenly at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Using RFID Technology in the Transportation Sector RFID or radio frequency identification is the name given to the technology that uses radio waves to transmit data and uniquely identify an animal, person, or thing ( radio frequency identification, 2013). An RFID system includes a transponder including an antenna and a chip that can easily store a significant amount of data such as location details, manufacturer details and product numbers if any. There are three basic types of the RFID readers. Fixed readers with an external antenna which are often used at the entry points of the yards. Handheld readers are used by personnel moving through the yards or the space. Then there are mobile readers which are set on the moving vehicles and moving equipment for increasing accuracy and tracking the process ( Advantages of RFID in Transportation and Logistics , 2011). In the current times, radio frequency identification technology has upgraded from anonymity into applications that are rather used normally and as a consequence has helped in the acceleration of manufactured materials handling (Want, 2006). There are several uses of RFID in various sectors. However, this paper will only deal with its uses in the transportation sector and how effectively this modern technology has helped in the growth of business and ease for people all over the world. RFID technology has a number of applications in the domain of transportation including electronic toll collection (ETC), electronic vehicle registration (EVR), automatic ... • 6. Reasons For Green And Blue Spaces The number of people living in urban areas is dramatically increasing across the world. Currently, 75 % of people live in cities in the developed world, (Bernhardt E.S. and Palmer M.A, 2007) despite such high percentage many do not get access to the green and blue spaces available, in other words cannot interact with nature. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency green spaces are land that is partly or completely covered with grass, trees, shrubs or other vegetation (Environmental Protection Agency, 2014) This includes community gardens, parks as well as cemeteries. (Environmental Protection Agency, 2014) On the other hand, blue spaces include rivers, canals and lakes. (Sally, M, 2010) As urbanisation increases, it will pose a greater threat to nature such as pollution, habitat destruction, erosion and colonisation of native species. There are various ways to engage with nature. However, one reason for green and blue spaces not being utilised effectively by people may be due to people being unaware of the values that these have and the crucial functions they undertake in the ecosystem such as recycling nutrients and controlling the hydrological cycle. This essay will explore the social, ecological and economic values of green and blue spaces as a whole as many of the values interrelate and describe some of the approaches being used to improve access to nature. These approaches will be classified into three main categories: river restoration, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. It Is Efficient When Copying Information It is efficient when copying information. Being double stranded means that when the DNA helicase enzyme unzips it, information can be copied from both strands at the same time. DNA polymerase is responsible for attaching free DNA nucleotides to the open DNA strands. The DNA helicase enzyme will not stop till it reaches the end of the strand. Same as the DNA polymerase. When DNA is copied from both the complementary strand and the template strand, this process is called semi conservative replication. Its information can be copied easily. Being single stranded means that the side with the bases are not paired to another strand. When it is making the proteins, protein synthesis, it will be easy to for the amino acids to attach. mRNA leaves the nucleus with the copied information and attaches to the ribosome in the cytoplasm. mRNA will wait for amino acids molecules to attach. If the mRNA was double stranded, it would take more time for the amino acids to attach. It is stronger. Having two strands bonded together makes DNA stronger. The strands are joined together by hydrogen bonds. Hydrogens are very strong bonds. DNA is stable in alkaline environment. It is lighter to carry around. Since mRNA has to move from inside the nucleus to the cytoplasm. 7. For me, an annual ski trip in the mountains is an irreplaceable event. The only problem with these trips is living in Kansas. At best, I must travel 8 tedious hours by car to the West to obtain my ideal vacation. And the return trip is even worse because the fun is over, your body and patience is exhausted, and you understand the long week of catching up on to do lists that will follow. Most often, the excitement of the trip far outweighs the tedious trip home, but in January of 2013, I might have been convinced otherwise as my trip home was filled with speeding tickets, car problems, cramped spaces, and almost six extra hours of travel. As my groups last day of skiing at Wolf Creek Ski Resort came to an end, we went to bed in good time in hopes of leaving very early the next morning for an equally early return to Newton. As the driver, I was diligently driving through the twisting and turning mountains with a purpose. For those who have driven in the mountains before, you are well aware of the difficulties of maintaining a constant speed through steep grades of terrain. • 13. The Decline Of The Ottoman Empire How the Decline of the Ottoman Empire Led to the Armenian Genocide Extended Essay in History Word Count: 3941 Douglas County High School Douglasville, GA, USA Examination Session: May 2016 Kiran Lakhani ABTRACT Through the investigation of the changes occurring from the first European presence in the Muslim world to the end of the Ottoman Empire, this essay attempts to answer why the Armenian genocide occurred. The Ottoman Empire started its decline when Napoleon entered Egypt in 1798. Napoleon brought along with him armies but also a new culture. The British did the same with Moghul India. The elite and people in positions of power were impressed by what the Europeans and the Americans were doing and seeing how powerful and successful they were. The Turks in the Ottoman Empire wanted the same. The Young Turks overthrew the Sultan of the time and started a reform of the Ottoman Empire to try to salvage it. The Young Turks also believed that all people regardless of religion or ethnicity deserved the same rights. The Armenians were one of the ethnicities that were in the minority. They obtained more rights when the policy was put in place. Before the Armenians received their right they were rebelling against the Ottomans. This was frightening to the majority. Massacres of the minorities, especially the Armenians started well before 1915, but the killings progressed in 1915. Many of the Armenians were deported and forced to leave their homes. In 1915 ... This paper will compare and contrast the changes taking place in the Budlong Woods community with those that are successful or unsuccessful in other city neighborhoods. • 18. Hitler s Propaganda For The Nazi Regime How significant was propaganda for the Nazi regime in 1933 1945? The definition of propaganda is information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view . The Nazis used propaganda as a method to spread their views and to encourage the Germans to support Hitler. Some of the main themes of propaganda was to demonise groups of people (races, religions e.c.t); to portray Hitler as a strong and powerful leader; to emphasise the values of Nazi Germany and to promote the idea of an Aryan Germany having superiority above all other countries. The person in charge of propaganda was Josef Goebbels, who Hitler placed in charge of the Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda. This department used many methods to enlighten the public for example different art forms including music and cinema, radio, the press, literature, rallies, posters and sports. The Nazis used various different forms of art to subtly put across their messages to the people and Germany. For example film and theatre which Goebbels thought was essential for influencing the mass . To do this he made film much more accessible for people so that more people could be influenced. They did this because they saw the growing interest in film industry, with films growing in both production and audience. As well as this movies were all regulated by Goebbels which meant that several foreign films were banned from being watched in Germany. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The company is currently approaching the completion of an underground tunnel, which will increase and improve traffic flow from the terminal to the main land compared to the original transportation via ferry. It has long been assumed that in the recent years Porter has plateaued. Billy Bishop is restricted to 202 landing slots daily, and the Q400s can t fly any farther than Porter already flies them. I know that this works because if you do a 6 by 6 you would get 0 rebounds. A number and one are always the number subtracted by one. If you do a 4 by 1 you would get 3 rebounds. If the dimensions can be reduced to ½ then the rebound will be one. For example, an 8 by 4 has one rebound. If the dimensions have a two in it, then the other number is the number of rebounds that you have. For example, If you had a 7 by 2 there would be 7 rebounds. You take the first dimension and add it to the second dimension and subtract it by 2. This one works for most of them but not all of them. For example, if you had a 9 by 7 then there would be 14 rebounds. The ball never lands in the corner, it was shot from. I looked at all the pictures that I drew to figure out the formulas and noticed that the corner the ball was hit from, never ever landed in the corner that it was hit from. Finally, if there are 0 rebounds then the ball will land in the corner diagonal from the corner it was shot. I figured this out by looking at the rebounds and pictures that I drew for the 0 rebounds. Those were all of the formulas and patterns that I found. This is a one by one which has 0 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

CBRN Tactics When talking about CBRN devices and tactics that may be used in a terrorist attack, people envidiblity think about what is commonly referred to as a dirty bomb , or a RDD (radiological dispersal device). This type of device offers many advantages to an individual or group wanting to cause harm or more importantly cause terror. These types of devices are rudimentary in design and their basic purpose is to spread radioactive debris in a manner that it will be absorbed by as many people as possible. The means of spreading this material can come in various forms. The typical design would involve explosives and a radioactive element that would disperse rapidly upon activation of the explosive device. There are other methods that a terrorist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Any type of bomb is going to cause damage purely from the energy that is released when the device detonates. There is great amount of kinetic force that is released in the form of a shock wave. This alone can cause death, as well as serious injury to people in the area, and the severity of this injury is determined by the strength of the device and proximity to the actual event at the time of detonation. Secondary injuries or casualties might be caused from materials that are projected by the force of the blast. Furniture, building materials, and in some cases, people themselves can be thrown with such force that upon impact with another person can cause grave damage. Next there is a thermal element to such a device. Detonation of any explosive creates a large amount of heat that is a by product of the chemical reaction of the explosive material as it is set off. People in the immediate area would be severely injured or killed by this element alone. Once again the radius of damage would be proportional to the relative proximity to the device upon detonation. Last but not least with this type of device is the radiological property. The explosive element is almost secondary as it serves as a delivery method for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Does Lava Temperature Affects Viscosity And Velocity Lava temperature impacts viscosity and velocity because a high lava temperature means that there is lower viscosity and that there is a higher velocity. For Room group A in C period, the lava flowed not too fast and not too slow. The average velocity for this group was 4.23 cm/second. The length of the pancakes was either 12 cm or 13 cm and the time that it took to travel throughout the pancake ranged from 2.09 seconds to 4.46 seconds. The syrup flowed faster than the Cold group s syrup did, while it flowed slower than the Hot group s syrup did. Room A group s data was pretty good data and there was not many mistakes that led to an outlier. This happens because the room temperature syrup has more energy, causing the molecules to spread apart. For the team hot average, the average was 7.15 cm/second. The range of data for averages was 1.7 cm/second to 15.79 cm/second. There are clearly some big differences between the former and the latter. This happened because they are outliers. That data may have been messed up because the syrup was taken off of the crockpot too early, cooling down the syrup making it have more viscosity and a smaller velocity. Another way that these trials could have been messed up is if someone threw the syrup at the plate when they were pouring it, and the speed of the pouring caused a very high velocity. The hot syrup flowed faster than room and cold syrup because it had a lower viscosity. The hot syrup had a lower viscosity because it had the highest energy out of the three temperatures, causing the molecules to be more spread out. Gas, water, and silica also have an effect on the viscosity of lava. Water makes the viscosity of the lava lower because it thins out the lava. Gas makes the pressure increase in high viscosity magmas, while when the gas escapes the viscosity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These uprisings were headed by Indian nobility who showed antipathy towards the Spanish administration as a result of being forced to subject their own people to taxes, unfair market prices, and slave labor. The Incans throughout the time of Spanish colonial rule had hopes for the renewal of their age old empire. However despite at least 100 revolts against colonialism the empire was never revived. • 27. The Problem Of Nuclear Power Nuclear power is one of the most controversial issues of today s society. This stems from the fact that although nuclear power holds vast amounts of potential, it currently has many problems. One of the main problems is figuring out what to do with the waste. The waste itself is too dangerous to dispose of in any conventional way, so presently, most of it is sealed in concrete casks and put into storage (in bunkers) until it stops being dangerous. This might not seem like a bad idea at first, but the problem with this idea is that the waste won t stop being dangerous for many, many years. There have to be better solutions to this problem. As it turns out, there are a few. The most promising in the short term is to recycle the nuclear waste, like any normal type of waste. In order to understand how this and some other solutions work, a crash course in basic nuclear physics will be provided. • 30. Essay On The Father Figure In Romeo And Juliet A father figure is someone who is respected for his paternal qualities and may be an emotional substitute for a father. William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet is a tragic story where a pair of star cross d lovers take their lives when their feuding families prevent them from being together. When Romeo and Juliet fall in love, Friar Lawrence plays a pivotal role acting as a father figure which influences several actions in the play. Friar s role as a father figure in Romeo and Juliet is central to understanding his support for Romeo s love for Juliet, his advice for Romeo to go to Mantua, and his guidance for Juliet to fake her death. Friar s acceptance for Romeo s love for Juliet is one way that Shakespeare portrays his role as a father figure in the play. An example of this can be seen in Act 2, Scene 3 when Friar reprimands Romeo just as a father would for being out all night and falling in love with another girl. The Friar states, Young men s love then lies / Not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes. Friar says this to Romeo when he has fallen in love with a girl named Juliet so soon after being in love with Rosaline. This proves how Friar acts as a father because he cares for Romeo and his well being even though he is not his son. He takes the time to understand Romeo s situation and give him some useful advice on what his next steps should be. Friar s support for Romeo s love is just one way Shakespeare portrays his fatherly figure in the tragic play of Romeo and Juliet. Secondly, Friar is at his most fatherly when Romeo has killed Tybalt and is distressed about being banished. The Friar tells Romeo to go to Mantua and be patient until things have settled down in the town of Verona. After some time has passed and fixed some issues, Friar tells Romeo that the two lovers can once again be reunited. He states: But look thou stay not till the watch be set, For then thou canst not pass to Mantua, Where thou shalt live till we can find a time To blaze your marriage, reconcile your friends, Beg pardon of the Prince, and call thee back With twenty hundred thousand times more joy Than thou ... Slavery In The Canterbury Tales, By Geoffrey Chaucer The Canterbury Tales is a collection of more than 20 stories, written in Middle English around the 1380s, during the Hundred Years War, by Geoffrey Chaucer. Within a narrative about a pilgrimage, (from Southwark to the shrine of Saint Thomas Becket at Canterbury Cathedral) Chaucer sets a series of stories. These collection of stories are built around a frame narrative, which was an already established and common genre of the 14th century. (The tales are in verse, except The Parson s Tale and Chaucer s own story of Melibee which are in prose.) The Wife of Bath s Tale belongs to the second one, and deals with the subject of authority in married life. This story is unusual in the collection, since its prologue is longer than the actual tale. For the other tales, the prologue is a kind of introduction, but The Wife of Bath s Tale is more like a sequel to its prologue. The prologue is the autobiography of The Wife(Alyson), in which she tells us much about herself. She speaks directly from her experience of marrige, while her tale is an illustration of her theories. This is due to accounts receivable increasing to 14% of sales which is higher than the 13.7% experienced by low profit ratios. Also, inventory as a percentage of sales has steadily increased from 11.5% in 1993 to 13.5% in 1996. In order to expand and remain financially stable, Clarkson Lumber must take advantage of all trade discounts. Exhibits A 1 A 2 compares the impact to net income with and without the trade discounts. (a) In Chisholm s paper, Human freedom and the self, Chisholm notes that causation is a relation between events or states of affairs. For example, if the roof in my house cave in during a hurricane this would be something that was caused by several other events such as the roof being too weak, the rain pressure being too much for the roof to hold, excessive rain, etc. With this term, Chisholm created two other narrower terms to specifically describe the different types of causations. The first causation is transeunt which is when one event or state of affairs causes other events or state of affairs. An example of Transeunt causation is if I threw a piece of paper in a recycling bin my event would be recycling but the unknown event cause by this event would be more oxygen in the world for people to breath in because that paper can be reused instead of having to cut more trees down and cutting down our oxygen. The second type of causation would be Immanent causation, which is when an agent (or person) causes an event or state of affairs. An example of Immanent causation is me recycling the paper because I m the agent who recycled the piece of paper, it wasn t done by another event. During the paper, Chisholm reflects on two objections and takes his defense on both. • 42. George Washington And Thomas Jefferson John Adams (1735 1826) has the historically unfortunate position of being president between two American icons, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. His presidency is often overlooked by scholars and even occasionally viewed as an undeserving president who won the office out of early American political maneuvering (McCullough 2001, 29). Nonetheless, he led the young nation during the end of the French Revolution and the emergence of Napoleon Bonaparte, a globally tumultuous period. The nation, and the world, has changed dramatically since the end of the eighteenth century. However, the domestic and foreign concerns that Adams had to manage and attempt to resolve are still relevant to current circumstances. Even though Adams only served one term over 200 years ago, through an analysis of his background, personality, presidential leadership and managerial style, and his interactions with Congress and the American people, a twenty first century incoming president is able to learn from Adams mistakes and triumphs. Life Before the Presidency John Adams was raised in a Puritan household in colonial Massachusetts during the eighteenth century. Although not a deeply religious or pious man, the Puritan values of selfless service, modesty, and unflinching dedication were deeply instilled into Adams at a young age and would have lasting impacts on his personality and work ethic throughout his life (McCullough 2001, 54). After attending Harvard, Adams launched his legal career ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Persuasive Essay On Pedestrians Walk Your Wheels: The Danger of Bicycles in Pedestrian Sidewalks I glance down at my phone for a moment and I realize that my 15 minute margin of travel time to race across campus to my class is dwindling; I look up only to find an individual on a bicycle hurdling toward me, clearly, incapable of stopping in time, I scramble out of the way in an attempt to save myself from becoming roadkill. This is a common occurrence for student pedestrians on their way to class given the increasing number of bicyclists and skateboarders that refrain from following university transportation laws, however, instead of criminalizing the act of using these modes of transportation on pedestrian sidewalks the university should make it safer and more efficient for these individuals to share the roads with cars by installing bicycle lanes. This issue is important to all campus residents, since the incorrect use of transportation could jeopardize their safety and should be carefully considered in order to prevent accidents. This proposal argument will aim at persuading university officials, specifically those in charge of the university transportation services, to reconsider their handling of bicycle and other non motorized transportation rules and safety on campus. There are many rules that bicyclists and other alternative transportation users must follow, for example, bicycles [are] not [to] be ridden on sidewalks or any pedestrian paths in the limited bike zone [central campus] , yet not ... (AG) Societal structure and order create the chaos of vengeance because when it fails, they would have the stress to seek the vengeance that they want. (SS) Individuals should not seek revenge when justice has failed because revenge is chaos, hurtful, and troubling. This can be seen in the literary works of Agatha Christie and A.B. Guthrie. Both authors explore the universal theme that when justice fails, revenge will follow. The characters in the stories plan and execute their revenge after justice has failed. Those who seek revenge do so because it can create chaos. (TS) In the short historical fiction, Bargain, by A.B. (TS) For example, In Agatha Christie s murder mystery, And Then There Were None, 10 guests were invited to an island and they were killed one by one and each death was from a childish rhyme, the 10 little soldiers. When Justice Wargrave sent the letter, he said that he killed those 10 people just because he wanted to commit a mystery murder and he didn t feel guilty. For some years past I have been aware of a change within myself, a lessening of control a desire to act instead of to judge. I have wanted let me admit it frankly to commit a murder myself (287). This is important because his motive was just to create a murder mystery. This could have been revenge on the 10 guests murders, but the people thinking about the deaths were really hurtful and emotional to them. When each of them were dying, people were scared and emotional to everyone. Some may say that individuals should seek revenge when justice has failed. However, this doesn t consider because people s motive was for justice so why if it fails, do it for yourself and change your motive and it could lead to bad ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This means being involved in their assessments, care delivery and support planning, basically person centred values is making sure all approaches, policies and procedures and care practices put the residents at the centre of the day to day activities. The development of a support plan is the perfect example of how person centred working operates. Instead offering people a choice of what is currently available and finding what best fits their needs, person centred working looks at someone s needs and built the support package around them. One of the important aspects of person centred planning is to look at what people are able to do for themselves and to ensure that services are not taking over aspects of a person s life that they could perfectly well manage without support. Outcome 3 Understand the importance of establishing consent when providing care or support. 3.1 Define the word consent Consent is the informed agreement to an action and/or decision. Permission for something to happen or agreement to do something. 3.2 Explain the importance of gaining consent when providing care or support. When working with an individual it is important to uphold their rights to be fully involved in their own care, whilst adhering to legal requirements. It is also the individuals right to refuse any care, support or treatment they do not want. It is also essential that people not only give you their consent but also that they understand what they are consenting to and the implications of this. Gaining consent protects not just the career but the individual receiving the care and support as well. If no consent is given then you cannot proceed with the care. It is illegal to pressure anyone into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
