Units like trillion skimming point operations for each second (Teraflops or TFLOPS) give a metric
to separating the cost of grungy enlisting after some time or by the producer. A benchmark can be
utilized to quantify throughput. In information transmission, arrange throughput is the measure of
information moved suitably starting with one place then onto the accompanying in a given

What Are The Different Types Of Love In Romeo And Juliet
Humans have many goals and decisions throughout their life, some important, some trivial. Love
is one of the big decisions that appears in life. Love varies in many forms, love between friends
and the love between a parent and their child are different. These different types of love are called
facets, and are often utilized in literature to show the relationship between characters. These facets
lets the reader know what kind of person the character is and makes the story more engaging, and
detailed because Eros, one of the types of love, shows the passion between lovers, Philia shows the
love between friends, and Storge shows the loving relationship between a child and their parents.

An example for this can be found in Romeo and Juliet when Mercutio says At this same ancient
feast of Capulet s sups the fair Rosaline whom thou so loves, with all the admirГЁd beauties of
Verona. Go thither, and with unattainted eye compare her face with some that I shall show, and
I will make thee think thy swan a crow. (Shakespeare Act 1 Scene 1). This quote tell us that
Mercutio is telling Romeo to go to the feast and compare Rosaline with the other girls, and that
when he does, he will find that she is not as beautiful as the others. This is important to the story
as it establishes that Mercutio does not want Romeo to be sad about Rosaline, so he tells him to
find someone else. Another example of Philia can be found in the popular childrens novel
Charlotte s Web. In Charlotte s Web, E.B White writes Why did you do all this for me? he
asked. I don t deserve it. I ve never done anything for you. You have been my friend, replied
Charlotte. That in itself is a tremendous thing. (E.B. White 164). This quote shows that Charlotte
loved Wilbur and helped him out of friendship. This as a result solidifies the bond between
Charlotte and Wilbur, and shows the audience that they are very close friends. Philia helps the
reader understand if a character is a good person or not depending on how they treat each

The True Power Of Music
Music is an important factor to the life of every human. It invokes the the strongest of emotions
and can trigger long forgotten memories, even after years of suppression. Humans tend to take the
mysterious power of music for granted, however after this paper I hope to reveal the true power of
music and how it could be the greatest things to have ever happen. All throughout history, music
follows and evolves with mankind to become a natural occurrence where without music, the world
would feel empty, why might that be? Ben Mauk, a contributor to Life s Little Mysteries, believes,
As stimulation for food and sex are important for an organism s survival, the fact that similar neural
activity is observed in responses to features in music suggests that there could be some evolutionary
advantage to the ability to hear or hum a good tune (Mauk). While Mauk s belief of music s
existence is because of instinctive stimulation, I believe music is popular because of the multitude
patterns that the human braincan follow. The human brainattempts to find patterns in everything it
performs, for example a worker performing their daily tasks but when they break that system they
may be unsure what to do with their extra time. Even though we might disagree in the invention of
music but we could both agree on that music brings people together. On the other hand, Tom de
Castella, a writer for BBC News Magazine, would argue, It can be lonely travelling through public
space and using

I Have For My Remix Project
For my Remix project, I have done the blog kind of think that helps the students what they
should do while they are in college. I have seen so many students in Michigan State
University(MSU) who feel pretty stressed out about their studies. I think that is because so
many people do not do the things that they suppose to do. The other reason I have selected this
topic to do the remix on, is that I have seen one of my friends go though this, I mean he was
about the drop out of the college, but he changed his life style totally. Like, he started going to
class and taking notes and all other things. I have used Storify, which is one of the best platforms
for writing the blogs. I have used this website because I was familiar with it and I knew how to use
it.
For this remix project, my audience was the group of people who want to do well in college like
high school students, and other group of people who are thinking about dropping the college or
even feeling stressed out (I also consider some international students too). I tried to make the blog
as funny as I can. I mean the reason for that is if you go online and try to find this type of article
that talks about the same topic as mine, you probably end up with boring article. The article that
I used to do the remix on was the most boring article and it also talks about this type of topic
which clearly makes it much more boring that is why I decided to add some pictures and some
GIF things so that I can attract number of people.

Causes Of Generalized Anxiety Disorders
Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the U.S., affecting 40 million adults in
the United States age 18 and older, or 18% of the population. (National Institute of Mental Health).
Anxiety is the Central Nervous System s response to a sense of threat or danger. For those that feel
an anxietyattack or episode, it triggers a Fight or Flight response. When we are in danger, this
response is very helpful to help us get out of the situation. Unfortunately for those with Anxiety, this
response can be triggered at things much smaller than a life or death situation. Although most
people will feel this anxious feeling at some time in their life, not everyone has anxiety as a
disorder. Generalized Anxiety Disorder(GAD) is defined... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Eugene Ramirez Research Paper
Lindsey Ramirez has little to no tact. Lindsey s eyes are sometimes red. Sometimes she reeks of
cigar smoke. Like Forest Gump said, sometimes she smells like cigarettes. Lindsey sometimes
walks around in public with cigarettes or cigars lodged between her ear and the side of her head,
for the entire world to see. Sometimes she stinks like a distillery. Sometimes she smells like
beer: sometimes she smells like liquor. It is nothing for Lindsey to pull out a fifth in broad
daylight and say, Let s get drunk. Lindsey has very little stage presence. She often acts as if she
does not care about her surroundings. She curses and she is loud. She turns ordinary parking lots
into movie scenes. She wears her sleeping clothes when she leaves the house and goes to the
grocery store. Lindsey loves attention, even if that attention is negative. It is hard to involve her in
wholesome family functions because she will turn the best day ever into a most regrettable
moment. She always thinks she is right but everyone knows that she is wrong. Her immature
behavior has left her alienated and avoided like a plague. Lindsey is in love with the coco.

Powers Of The United States Constitution
Mia Stagnitta
Mrs. Tobin
American Government 7
17 November 2014
Enumerated Powers The United States Constitution consists of twenty seven expressed or
enumerated powers. These powers were carefully constructed by the Framers of the Constitution in
hopes that the government would remain fair in its law making ways. The Legislative Branch is
comprised of the Senate and House of Representatives, commonly referred to as Congress. It
known of as the law making body of the United States government with the help of the president or
the Executive Branch. Congress must exercise or follow the powers stated in the Constitution.
Three enumerated powers that have made and are still making significant impacts on the United
States are the Necessary and Proper Clause, Commerce Clause, and the power to declare war. The
Necessary and Proper Clause is stated in Article I, Section 8, and Clause 18 of the Constitution.
This Clause is commonly referred to as the Elastic Clause as well as several other names: the
Sweeping Clause, the Coefficient Clause, and the Basket Clause, and. These names are all
appropriate due to the fact that they all represent the meaning of the clause itself. It is accredited as
the Elastic Clause because it stretches the power of Congress; thus, giving the Legislative Branch
the ability to increase their power (Namtvedt). Although there are a plethora of enumerated powers
such as this one, this clause enables Congress to stretch the expressed powers

His reckless and irresponsible behavior would cost him his freedom. He is sentenced to ten
years in a state prison with charges of burglary and holding a relationship with a white woman.
However, this was a crucial event in his life because without it the philosophies about racism that
we know him for today, would not have been born. He said All of our experiences fuse into our
personality . This tells us how every detail about his life made him become who he was. His time
in prison let him reflect on how racism is more of a global problem, whereas he used to think of
it as a personal attack. Malcom s conversion to Islam helps him reach a deep state of reflection on
his philosophies about race. He began seeing black people as a unison rather than just seeing
himself as victims of discrimination. This realization made by him was fundamental for his future
endeavors as a leader of civil rights

Analysis of the Unforgiven
Analysis of Unforgiven Brenda J. Thompson ENG 225: Introduction to Film Nathaniel Millard
October 5, 2009 Summary While the movie Unforgiven (1992) directed and starring Clint
Eastwood, as William Munny, is in the genre of a western in the late 1800 s. It has a basic theme
that we are still making movies about today, justice and what is acceptable and what is not
acceptable in our search for it. It is a story of a journey that one man has to make in order for him
to care for his children but it ends up being so much more of a journey than he anticipates. This
movie is the ultimate of good versus evil on a couple of different levels. It is good guy versus bad

The buildings were dark, small and gloomy on the inside and due to the fact that the majority of
the movie took place in the nighttime hours and it was stormy more than not, the outside was
just as gloomy as the inside. The lighting was minimal as it would have been back then bringing
mood with it. The foreshadowing of the stormy weather worked in making this movie what it
was, the rain seemed to let you know when something was coming. As much as the wilderness
scenery was beautiful, I found it downplayed by the drab colors of the costumes and the non use
of color throughout the entire film. It seemed as though the only time color was used was
determined by what that particular scene was about. For instance, as English Bob came into
town the only item of color was the drab red of the stagecoach, so we knew whoever was in that
stagecoach was going to become an important character to a scene coming up, everything else
was a muted earth tone of tan, brown, green and blue. As stated in our text a director may simply
let their settings just be a backdrop and let the action of that scene take over. (Boggs Petrie,
2008, pg. 374) This was exactly how this movie was told; it focused on the story instead of
glamorizing it with colorful costumes and scenery. We needed to see the drabness of the subject in
the muted colors of the movie. Another scene that showed a pop of color was that of William
(Eastwood) and Ned (Freeman) were having a conversation where William was

Reflection About Depression
Only a handful of people know this about me, however one year ago I was diagnosed with
moderate suicidal depression. Depression is a mental illness that not only affects how you
mentally perceive reality, it affects how your brain processes and executes your actions as well.
Depression has not only changed my ways of contemplating my everyday complications , but it
has changed my belief about inner and self strength completely. Let me tell you, my depression
is the reason I am writing about my belief, in gaining strength from desperate times. Now, I m 14
years young, and have lived in two different countries, one province, and two states in a matter of
two and a half years. Which is part of the reason why I am a completely different person now.
Moving is aggravating and exasperating for really anyone who goes through it, but it has a whole
other perspective when you are a student in high school. Moving was upsetting and set my anxiety
and depression off like a firecracker, but at the same time it was an adventure that I was lucky to
have had. Why? Because it made me get out of the house and meet people. Sure, I could have
stayed inside and slept all summer, but then I might not have been here typing this as of right now.
Moving gave me strength by making me get out and find new things and new people. My
experience with depression turned my whole life around. I didn t want anything to do with school,
my family, or even myself. I didn t understand how I would try so hard

Research Paper On William The Conqueror
Duke of Normandy, William the First: Conqueror or Bastard?
William the Conqueror: a powerful man who was taking what was rightfully his, or an illegitimate
son thirsty for power, only history can tell if his actions were an act of justice. This debate contains
a lot of confusion between promises, traditions overlapping, the support of the people, and proven
powerful enough to rule. After understanding the conflicts at the time, history has proven that
William the Conqueror proved to have a legitimate claim to the throne, much more than his
competition at the time. In order to understand history, we have to look back and see how we got to
this point, starting with the set up for this situation.
To understand William, we have to understand his life. William was born in 1027 to Robert I,
Duke of Normandy, by his concubine Arlette, a tanner s daughter from the town of Falaise as an
illegitimate son (History.com Staff). This is one of the many factors that came to debate later on
as he tries to take the throne since he was born out of an affair. Due to his father s death, he was
named Duke of Normandy at age seven (History.com Staff). Many people were not pleased with
the former King s decision and started many rebellions, all of which William escaped. In 1051,
William visited England and met with his cousin Edward the Confessor, the childless English king.
According to Norman historians, Edward promised to make William his heir. On his deathbed,
however, Edward granted the

Beloved Essay
Oftentimes, one can get too caught up in familial matters or personal issues, and as a result,
something as simple as providing another with love and value can be long forgotten. Both
novels take place in Ohio during late 1980 s to the early 1930 s. In Beloved, the protagonist
Sethe continuously mentions how she wishes her mother would have put more effort into their
relationship.. Most days, Sethe would only see her mother for one or two hours. Her mother
was always busy working in the hot and musty rice field. Sethe felt like her mother never really
loved her and did not care much for her well being either. Sethe expresses her sadness: Sunday s
she slept like a stick. She must of nursed me two or three weeks that s the way the others did....

This quote shows that Sethe never had the opportunity to feel her mother s compassion or
affection, more commonly known as a mother s love . This love is often personified in a mother
who will lay down her life for her child. It is known as a selfless sacrifice. Sethe s mother was
always working and never had time to spend with her, let alone time to nurse her. One could say
Sethe s relationship with her mother was non existent, Sethe constantly reminds herself how she
felt abandoned when she was younger. She had to be nursed by Nan, a women who s job was to
breastfeed children of the whites as well as other fellow slaves. Nan had to nurse white babies
and me too because Ma am was in the rice. The little white babies got it first and I got what was
left. Or none. There was no nursing milk to call my own (Morrison, Beloved, 200). Put differently,
Sethe did not have the opportunity to create a special mother daughter bond that most mothers
create with their child, to ensure the child s protection and enrich their development. Therefore she
was not given a shot to be a real daughter to anyone, she had no support or love from the only
family she had, which was her

Background/Context: William Shakespeare is a creative mind and a creative body. He wrote
Macbeth in 1606, ten years before his death, and was the last of his short great tragedies.
Shakespeare wrote this play telling a story about how a drive for power will break a person s soul.

People used to think stanley wasn t very nice but now that they know him most people think he is

sunflower seeds when magnet was actually the one who stole it. Secondly, instead of trying to

Having pride and determination is a wonderful quality to have, but it also takes a lot of guts
sometimes. Some people are embarrassed to admit that they are proud of something. Also, to be

An Analysis Of Seamus Heaney s Mid-Term Break
For most students, a break in school signifies the end of classes for the term and a well deserved
vacation after a week of intense finals. For others, it is an opportunity to return home to the
comfort of family and friends. Yet other students take advantage of the opportunity to earn some
money. However, it can also be a time of change. Seamus Heaneys Mid Term Break brilliantly
depicts the feeling of loss by using irony, imagery, time and symbolism to detail the timing of
events when a tragedy occurs in his family.
Heaney first uses irony in the title giving readers the sense that the poem will be about the
exciting and fun times of a school break. The word mid term references a point in time as Heaney
begins to describe the time line of events of a student when a personal tragedy occurs back home.
Another reference to time is the word break used here to signify that something has come to an end.
Heaney writes the poem in a chronological order to show how he dealt with the emotional aspect
of death as a student. The poem begins with I sat all morning in the college sick bay (l. 1) to
establish the starting time and provides the approximate age (time) of the student. The use of the
word sick is a clue that the break is not a typical ending to the school term. When someone goes to
the nurse s office during school, it is usually because they are sick. Heaney first uses symbolism
with the careful choice of the words Counting bells knelling classes to

Essay on Gastroparesis
Gastroparesis
Gastroparesis is a digestive disorder in which the motility of the stomach is either abnormal or
absent. Gastro means stomach and paresis means weakness. Gastroparesis is a weak stomach. This
condition is very common. It can be the cause of a number of abdominal complaints. It is usually
not a serious problem and there are effective treatments available.
In normal health, when the stomach is functioning normally. The stomach has two parts. The upper

Fortunately, gastric emptying resumes and symptoms improve when food intake and eating
schedules normalize. Symptoms of gastroparesis include bloating, nausea, and early fullness while
eating meals, heartburn, and epigastric pain. The most common symptom is early satiety, or the
sensation of feeling full shortly after starting a meal. Nausea and vomiting are also common. A
person with gastroparesis may vomit undigested food many hours after their last meal. Weight loss
can occur due to poor absorption of nutrients, or taking in too few calories.
The diagnosis of gastroparesis starts with the medical history where the physician may suspect the
diagnosis based on the symptoms. A gastric or stomach emptying test is presently the best method
of making the diagnosis. In this test, a food, such as scrambled eggs, is labeled with a marker,
which can be seen by a scanner. Following ingestion, the scanner tracks the time it takes for the
food to leave the stomach. In general, half the stomach contents should leave within about 90
minutes. A final test is the electrogastrogram (EGG). This test, like the EKG on the heart, measures
the electrical waves that normally sweep over the stomach and precede each contraction.
Diet is one of the foundations of treatment for those who suffer from gastroparesis. Some foods are
more difficult than others for the stomach to digest. Fatty foods take a longer time to digest, so do
foods that

Phaedo By Plato
Platonic Dialogue
Phaedo is a recount of Socrates final hour before his death, written by Plato in the form of a
dialogue between Phaedo (Socrates prison guard) and Echecrates (1). In Socrates final hours we
find him surrounded by like minds, pondering what happens to the soul after death, and if death is
truly the end or just a new beginning. Those present at the prison include Socrates, Apollodorus,
Simmias, Cebes, and Phaedo (2).
Socrates explains that in his year of learning and questioning the world around him he has found
that everything has a beginning and an end. However, often that end is not an end but a new
beginning. Socrates explains this by illustrating how a tall man is the opposite of a short man, yet

western civilization was decisively shaped. Modern mathematics, Medicine, and cartographywas all

our life would not be the same. So it is important that we know what the Greeks invented and their
power over our civilization.
First of all, the use the same form of democracy that we use in America. They decided that a
dictator would have too much control and power. So they got a cabinet of over 500 people for
democratic voting. They voted on taxes all the way up to executions. It worked a lot like our

Demokratia, Greek for power of the people, was born in Athens in the 7th century BC. As the city
state s oligarchy exploited citizens and created economic, political and social problems, Athenians
were inspired by the successful, semi democratic model Sparta had adopted. They turned to

Cultural Characteristics Of The Russian Language
Culture is very much like a clock. A clock runs smoothly when all its small pieces work together
simultaneously, but without all the pieces, the clock would not be a functional object. Culture is
defined as the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively.
Some characteristics that define culture could be language, religion, politics, and social structure.
Russiais made up of a huge amount of cultural characteristics making it a unique country.
Understanding a countries language is one great way to start building a relationship. This shows a
foreign country or local national of a country that you have a genuine concern with wanting to build
a strong trusting relationship by the effort in trying to communicate with them in their native
language. Understand that it is very difficult to determine the exact birth or origin of any language.
The Russian languagebelieved to surface during the 10th century, when Russia split into southern,
western, and eastern regions. The three regions came up with two different dialects known as
Church Slavonic and East Slavonic. Combining the two writing styles came to form what is now
the spoken language of Russia. When Peter the Great undertook to Westernize Russia in the early
18th century, the Russian language subjected to western influences and absorbed a number of
foreign words. Peter was the first to reform and simplify the Cyrillic alphabet used for Russian
language.

The Right And Bear Arms Essay
There are and always will be people disagreeing over the controversial Second Amendment, the
right to bear arms, however there are several reasons why the Second Amendment is beneficial to
the community. The Second Amendment to certain people in the United States is seen as an
amendment that represents their freedom. Some of the key reasons that the right to bear arms is
beneficial to the community is that it allows for citizens to hunt and provide for their families, it
allows for people to protect themselves and others, and can keep it so that the government doesn t
have uncontrollable power. The amendment also allows for the people to be able to go and buys
guns and ammo. The amount of benefits to the community that the second amendment gives off is
under estimated by many, due to the news and publicity always being very negative towards guns
and their uses. If the news was to ever show guns in a good light making the public more
knowledgeable about the controversial Amendment the opinions of the people might shift gears a
little into becoming more supporting of the Second Amendment and the benefits that come with it.
The Second Amendment that was ratified 1791 as a part of the first 10 amendments in the Bill of
Rights in the United StatesConstitution it states that A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the
security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed , which

Persuasive Essay On Healthy Lifestyle
The Healthy Lifestyle Everybody sees it everywhere. Lose 60 pounds in 6 weeks! Skinny is
what s in! Detox diet plan! It s a fair assumption to assume that the world, especially the United
States, is obsessed with being healthy. From celebrity workout programs to expensive diet
systems that make people lose weight, being fit is always what s mainly focused on in the
media, daily life, and nationwide. But with obsessions, come unhealthy actions and interests.
Most people that anyone knows is most likely upset with some aspect of themselves. Whether it
be the way they look, how they eat, or their lifestyle, obsession happens because of the nearly
impossible body types and lifestyles found on social media. On top of this, there are also
restrictions and challenges that come with eating a healthy diet that seem simply irradical to
address, and unhealthier foods are more available than ever. With these slowly arising issues,
anyone would think the nation is making it hard for themselves to be healthy. The society the
nation lives in is making it progressively harder and harder to be healthy because of the lifestyles
that are easier to achieve. While most agree that being healthy and active is a good thing, some
feel that being healthy is too much of a chore, and would rather point fun at the people who choose
to have more beneficial lifestyles. Many people in the nation contradict their wants to be in good
health by harassing others who already have healthy

They are merchants of grain with hired help who take their social power very seriously. Lorenzo,
one of their lead workers who takes care of their business is the handsome young man that
Ellisabetta falls heads over heels for. She and Lorenzo share the same compassion and love for one
another and they ignore the social acceptance of their relationship.
Unfortunately, Ellisabetta s brothers are not in agreement with this love affair and are furious
about the disgrace to their family. They are so disturbed about this relationship that they kill
Lorenzo. This misfortune, in turn, creates a major change in their sister s behavior causing her
to be unhappy at all times and without any desire to do anything other than cry. Furthermore,
one night Ellisabetta has a dream where Lorenzo appears and tells her that her brothers killed
him and where they buried him. Ellisabetta, being so blindly in love, went out the next morning
to confirm her dream. To her surprise she found Lorenzo s dead body. Her first reaction was to
take him along with her. Since, he was too heavy, she decided to take his head. This behavior
reflects a girl s first and only love that keeps her from forgetting that life goes on. Ellisabetta
demonstrates without Lorenzo there is no meaning in life. She could only keep living with a part
of him by putting his head in a pot. Ellisabetta buries it with dirt and plants basil over it. This

Transference is often manifested as an erotic attraction towards a therapist, but can be seen in many
other forms such as rage, hatred, mistrust, prettification, extreme dependence, or even placing the
therapist in a god like or guru status. When Freud initially encountered transference in his therapy
with clients, he felt it was an obstacle to treatment success. But what he learned was that the
analysis of the transference was actually the work that needed to be done. The focus in
psychodynamic psychotherapy is, in large part, the therapist and client recognizing the transference
relationship and exploring what the meaning of the relationship is. Because the transference
between patient and therapist happens on an unconscious level, psychodynamic therapists who are
largely concerned with a patient s unconscious material use the transference to reveal unresolved
conflicts patients have with figures from their childhoods. Countertransference is defined as
redirection of a therapist s feelings toward a client, or more generally as a therapist s emotional
entanglement with a client. A therapist s atonement to his own countertransference is nearly as
critical as his understanding of the transference. Not only does this help the therapist regulate his or
her own emotions in the therapeutic relationship, but it also gives the therapist valuable insight into

John Stuart Mill The Harm Principle
John Stuart Mill was an English philosopher and a progressive in British politics during the 17th
century. He lived during a time of political transformation in England caused by the Industrial
Revolution. The Industrial Revolution brought social mobility to the middle and lower class, along
with more political participation. With this newfound freedom, the people of England felt their
liberties were being diminished because they had the ability to accomplish all the more but in some
cases, could not. This was just one question of libertybrought up during the time Mill was
developing intellectually (Sparks 186). Mill wrote many works that trifled with the idea of gender
equality, government structure, and economic principles, to name a... Show more content on

The largest and arguably most influential point Mill makes in his essay is that the harm principle
does not only apply to the government anymore but to all of society. In making this argument he
is defining societal values in that it shaped areas in which society must respect personal liberties.
He constructs his statement on how the harm principle is applied to society in three parts. His
first assertion pertains to the liberty of one s own mind. He states, the inward domain of
consciousness; demanding liberty of conscience, in the most comprehensive sense; liberty of
thought and feeling; absolute freedom of opinion and sentiment on all subjects, practical or
speculative, scientific, moral, or theological (Mill 20). In saying this, Mill means that a person s
liberty cannot be persecuted if they never act on them. Any thoughts a man may have are his
own thoughts and he may think whatever he would like to think. This has shaped societal values
because no one is truly obligated to share what they think today, nor is it a societal norm to
criticize one s opinions if they differ from your own but it does happen. His second statement
addresses the control one individual can have over another. He claims that an individual can plan
their life as they please, and should not be met with the pressure of what others may see as being
abnormal (Mill 20). By saying this, Mill expresses the

The Mall Of America By David Gueterson
In Enclosed. Encyclopedic. Endured: The Mall of America David Gueterson spoke about the
idea behind the creation of the Mall and his journey as a reporter inside it. For instance, he talked
about how the mall not only intended to attract Minnesotan, but also to appeal to tourist from
everywhere. Because of it enormous size and diverse activities, the mall is like the mecca of
shoppers. He also mentioned that, Some people got engaged and some even got their marriage
ceremony at the mall. After all he described the mall as a success, and the companies behind the
mall are even thinking about building similar malls around the world. (161 72). Such marketing
strategies stated above are embodied in many businesses today, with the intention not only to bring
people in, but also to make them spend money and come back again.
In today s lifestyle many people are obsessed with materials and spending. The convenient ways to
get those spenders or materialist people, businesses usually choose to distinguish their business
from others and get those consumers in. For example, in the Mall of America, it is clear that the
builders tried to differentiate the mall from others, by making it bigger, close to an international
airport and encompass diverse activities inside it, for the purpose of bringing more people in.
Also, some feature of the mall is that, they made it with no windows or time clock, so people won

Art After The Great War
Art after The Great War The Great War was the first of its kind. Never before had combat been
conducted on such a global scale. The technological advancements resulting from the onset of
Industrialism allowed weapons and supplies to be mass produced. When the dust finally settled, the
death toll eclipsed 16 million, and another 20 million were wounded. Dadaand Surrealism
originated as artistic reactions to the colossal destruction experienced during World War I. Dada
radical and poet, Tristan Tzara, confessed, the beginnings of Dada were not the beginnings of art,
but of disgust (MoMa Dada). Largely, this was disgust to the atrocities and suffering of war.
However, it was also disgust towards the bourgeoisie, political corruption,... Show more content on

Marcel Duchamp is widely considered one of the most influential Dada artists. His works
frequently included the use of ready mades. Ready mades are pre fabricated items that the artist
personally deems as art. For example, a chair, or table could potentially be a ready made. One of
Duchamp s most famous ready mades is called Fountain. This piece is a previously used urinal,
with the name R. Mutt 1917 written in black on the side. The installation is a classic example of
Dada art, in that it does not make sense. It is art because it is anti art. There is no logic, and there is
no reason behind it. It is art because the artist decided it was art. It simply exists. Francis Picabia
is another prominent Dada artist. In 1919, he created a diagram of how a supposed Dada alarm
clock works. The dada movement aimed to shake the world of modern art up. Art was considered
boring and mundane. Dada was a noisy alarm that woke up modern art from merely aesthetic
slumber (Elderfield). Picabia s piece was supposed to represent how it changed. The flow of current
was actually the flow of change of modern art. While Dada was intended to be a rebellious and
purposeful response to conventional and traditional thinking in society, its successor Surrealism
resulted from the desire to explore the unconscious mind. Also, the movement aimed to upset the
conventions of reality. Surrealism started as a literary movement that utilized a technique called
automatism.

However, on the Eastern Front, the Russian military had successfully suppressed Austria

Ivancevich (p. 311) defines functional conflict as a confrontation between groups that enhances and
benefits the organization s performance while he defines dysfunctional conflict as any
confrontation or interaction between groups that harms the organization or hinders the achievement
or organizational goals. Though, a point the Ivancevich makes (p. 311) is that in most cases, the

The conflict of Eisner and Jobs at first was the perceived stage due to the negative comments
Eisner made at congressional hearings; Jobs took the comments personally and so was very

As the feud continued and escalated, Jobs took the perceived stage to the last stage of conflict
manifest. As the feud escalated, Jobs threatened to not renew the Disney Pixar relationship after
the release of Cars in 2006 if Eisner was still CEO of Disney. Thus, Jobs acted upon the conflict
with this threat which would have had dire financial losses for Disney.
3) Which of the following best describes Michael Eisner s and Bob Iger s approaches to resolving
conflict: dominating, problem solving, avoiding, or accommodating? Explain:
Certainly Eisner s approach to resolving conflict would fall into the dominating category;
dominating approach is the person/group s maximum focus on meeting its own concerns, coupled
with a minimal focus on meeting the concerns of other group (Ivancevich, p. 319). It seems Eisner
fought or had difficulty with all key persons with the other companies he dealt with; apparently
maintaining these key relationships was not a high priority with Eisner. I think as Eisner still
continued to be successful in spited of these issues, he probably gained a sense of unlimited power

College Should Offer Free Tuition
Having a college degree is considered to a vital part of being successful in today s day and age.
College degrees are really expensive, but in a long run they really pay off. College can be a big
financial burden so with that being said, in my opinion, I think community college should offer
free tuition with some sort of standards to be eligible for free tuition. President Barack Obama
conveyed a speech at Macomb Community Collegein Warren, Michigan this past September.
President Obama proposed a free educational cost at any two year junior collegeat length of their
stay as long as they were at least half time students, and they keep up a base evaluation point
normal of no less than 2.5 and the administration would cover seventy five percent of the costs to
the state getting the remaining total as stated by Silvia Munguia. CQ researcher Silvia Munguia,
states that Although some people may disapprove of the proposal, arguing that the country
would lose a lot of money and that offering free community colleges would not necessarily
improve our educational system nor guarantee students graduation from college, it is definitely a
great starting point. I agree with this because at the end of the day, you have to start somewhere.
Munguia also states There are many benefits of making the first two years of college free. If
Obama s proposal passes more people will be able to attend college and be better prepared upon
entering the job market. Free community colleges

It helps you grow and improve all throughout your career. Getting feedback, whether it s from
your employer/supervisor, a college or someone under your charge, also helps to identify parts
of your personal development that you may have missed or have overlooked. After all, we re
only human and humans make mistakes. Because of this, it s important to go about getting

My Year Is My First Year Of College
Last year was my first year of college. Freshmen year as a transition for me from High School to
College, I don t think I did well in adjusting to college life. I m regretting lots thing I could have

opportunities to involve school s activity, and more chances to get to know more people. As a
freshman in college, I was scared about failing my classes so I tried my best to work on every
assignment in order to have a good grade. However I still had all kinds of new experiences, like
driving by myself to school, a new kind of teaching system and meeting new friends. I had many

Sex Education Vs Single Sex Schools
Single sex schools, the new and improved way of learning
In 2006 federal legislation allowed public school districts to create single gender schools and
classrooms for their students. That was a wise decision considering single sex schools have been
proven to benefit students. Although society insist that coed school is a superior learning style and
is key to getting better grades they are wrong, single sex schools actually have a better history with
the educational performance of their students and due to that their students are acknowledged to
obtain a more profound career path.
The main purpose of attending any type of school is to gain knowledge and further your
knowledge successfully. In 2010, 78.2 percent of high school students in coed schools graduated
on time. On the other hand the single sex schools received higher percentages across the board.
Eagle Academy in New York, the state s first public all male school, reported an 82 percent
graduation rate for the same time period. Correspondingly, the young Women s Leadership Charter
School in Chicago reported a 100 percent graduation rate(NASSPE). The main cause for the
percent differences are that students in single sex schools are less distracted by their peers and
surroundings. The main argument in favor of single sex schooling is that both males and females
learn differently, teachers can better educate their students if they are all the same gender because
they can employ specific strategies to enhance their

California s Right to Know Act
California Right to Know Act: Time Newspaper has learnt that it s not surprising that Internet
companies have electronic dossiers that contain personal information for individuals who subscribe
to the websites. Generally, these companies have obtained the information from people based on
individual s visit to the website, sent and received emails, tagged photos, and searches people carry
out. However, the extent of personal information known by these Internet companies has remained
largely unknown as well who they provide and/or sell this information to. However, Internet
companies continue to gather lots of personal information from different people who focus on
carrying out online activities on a daily basis. Currently, it s estimated that these firms gather
personal information from nearly 500 million users but are hesitant to provide this information to
the other firms or individuals. As their unwillingness to share has attracted significant congressional
inquiry, things could finally change in California following the introduction of a bill that may
force companies to disclose the kind of personal information they have gathered and how this
information is being used. Summary of California s Right to Know Act: California s Right to
Know Act has been a long overdue bill in the State s legislature that seeks to force Internet
companies like Facebook and Google to disclose the collected personal information and the use of
that information (Cohen, 2013). The introduction

Essay on The Sound of Waves by Yukio Mishima
In The Sound of Waves, Yukio Mishima creates an exquisite story which has strong idealistic and
mythic features. Although Mishima writes of young love and tranquility in The Sound of Waves,
his later works are categorized as aggressive and containing violent sexual actions. Even Mishima
himself referred to The Sound of Waves as that great joke on the public (qtd. in Ishiguro 385).
However, one cannot compare this novel to Mishima s other literary pieces; in order to classify it as
romanticized, one must evaluate the usage of imagery, an idealized setting, mythical allusions, and
characterizations which establish the romantic driven qualities in The Sound of Waves. It is
apparent that nature plays a major role throughout The Sound of... Show more content on

Mythical allusions described by Mishima serve to highlight the other qualities within The Sound
of Waves. When Shinji first catches sight of Hatsue, she is letting her hair stream and her cheeks
glow (7). These characteristics are shown many times throughout the novel and resemble Vergil s
depictions of goddesses such as Venus and Juno in the Aeneid. One conflict that Hatsue must
overcome is when Yasuo attempts to rape her; his plot was obstructed by the intervention of a
furious hornet. Hatsue sees the flashing of the little golden colored wings and wonders what god
it [is] who [has] come to her rescue. (93).The interference of the hornet seems far fetched, for most
would think that the hornet would not only attack Yasuo, but also Hatsue. In this case, Mishima
created an idealized situation were nature as saved Hatsue from the immoral actions of Yasuo. The
setting of the island Uta jima is idealized, which creates a place where the romance between
Hatsue and Shinji can seem realistic. The reader begins the novel with a description of this island
and two spots with surpassingly beautiful views. (3).After this, the reader is introduced to a young
man, Shinji, climbing up the stairs of the lighthouse. Mishima depicts this area as one of the most
beautiful views on the island. The

Francis Bacon s En Dublin, Irlanda En 1909
Francis Bacon

The Appeal Of Pathos In Truman Capote s In Cold Blood
The best novels are the ones that connects with the reader and just toys with their emotions, as if
they too were also in the story by using pathos, the most powerful appeal. This holds true with
Truman Capote s, In Cold Blood and his writing appealing to the reader s emotions in the
portrayal of Perry Edward Smith and Richard Dick Eugene Hickock, the two murders with an
addition of Capote showing a great deal of favoritism to Perry over Dick. Throughout the novel,
Capote uses tone and diction to allure the reader into the novel s world and into every character
s life, just as if we knew their whole backstory. We see two heartless, cold blooded killers that
slain the innocent family of the Clutters with the intent to leave no witnesses and to rob them of
their hard earned money but Capote deceives the reader s emotions throughout the entirety of
the book to humanize straight killers and make them likable. We often see a murderer as a
psychopath without any emotion but it is hard to label Smith and Hickock one because Capote
brings the reader into their lives in a way that we would feel sorry and have pity for them.
Capote makes the reader relate to Smith and Hickock by describing their families and showing
insight into the killers dreams and aspirations so we could perceive them as people and forget that
they ended the future of the Clutters. Perry was a lonely child growing up and had a drunkard
mother that forced him into foster care where he was abused and bullied

William Hemingway s The Cafe
After the older waiter turns off the light to the cafe and closes up, he then proceeds to carry the
conversation with himself. This again, displays his loneliness. The text states, Turning off the
electric light he continue the conversation with himself. It is the light of course but it is necessary
that the place be clean and pleasant. You do not want music. Certainly you do not want music. Nor
can you stand before a barwith dingily although hat is all that is provided for these hours
(Hemingway, 382). He continues to convince himself that the cafe is needed for all the people
who are lonely, like him, and the old man. However, it is time to close up and head home.
Instead, he decides to go to a bodega. The text doesn t overtly state why he goes to the bodega,
but you can infer that he is trying to understand the younger waiter. He knows that a bodega isn t
like the cafe at all, but he is willing to give it a try. Besides, he doesn t want to go home to
nothing. The text goes on to say the following, What did he fear? It was not fear or dread. It was a
nothing that he knew too well. It was all a nothing and a man was nothing too. It was only that and
lightwas all it needed and a certain cleanness and order (Hemingway, 383). In order to cope with
nothing, he too, needs to go to a cafe but none are open at this hour. He then goes on to say a
prayer but replaces the lord, god, and religion for nothing or nada. For the older waiter, he doesn t
find meaning in religion. It

Research February 11, 2012 Shahin E. S. M., Dassen T., Halfens R. J. G. (2009). Incidence,
prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers in intensive care patients: A longitudinal study.
International Journal of Nursing Studies 46: 413 421 Introduction Pressure ulcers refer to damage
that occurs to the skin of a patient. Pressure, shear and friction are among the known causes
(Shahin, Dassen Halfens, 2009). Pressure ulcers mostly affect the lower part of the body, the
elderly and patients with spinal injuries (Shahin et al, 2009). They are expensive to treat, require

A total of 224 patients were approached for the study but only 121 patients consented (Shahin et
al, 2009). Some patients refused to participate in the study, while others agreed to participate but
failed to sign the consent form. All the patients admitted to the intensive care unit during the
month of April to October 2006 were eligible to participate in the study and a questionnaire was
used as the tool to collect data. The privacy of the patient was maintained at all times while the
nurses collected the data. Patients provided information of their own will. Patients were tested
on admission and on discharge. The researchers conducting the study held a high level of
confidence in each of the hospitals involved. The incomplete information was discarded and was
not used in the analysis. Finally, the collected data was analyzed using the Statistical Package of
social Science (SPSS) to give the following data. Results of study The number of patients who
complied with the study was 121. 56.2% are males and 43.8% are female (Shahin et al, 2009).
Out of the 121 patients, 23 were admitted in a coma. The average length of stay for the 121
patients was one week. Sixteen patients were found to have pressure ulcers on admission. The final
results showed a decrease in the number of pressure ulcers. Six people obtained pressure ulcers

Creating A Safe And Inviting Classroom Environment Essay
In order to provide a safe and inviting classroom environment, students must be valued, appreciated,
and respected. Promoting diversity in the classroom allows students to explore different languages,
experiences, ethnic differences and the cultural perspectives of their classmates. Developing this
type of environment is equally as important as the classroom standard, and is often seen in schools
with an increased bilingual population. The school where I am currently working has a high
Hispanic bilingual population, and proves to me how diversity in the classroom can still breed
success.
The Andrew T. Morrow Elementary School philosophy builds on a foundation promoting
inclusivity with the goal to marry cultural diversity with the classroom pragmatic. For this, each
student regardless of origin and/or language is given an equal opportunity to succeed in each
academic subject. Having observed in a classroom of eight year olds, nearly half of the class was
bilingual. Interviewing the lead teacher (quotes throughout are direct responses from the lead
teacher) gave me a better perspective on how her bilingual classroom operates. Before formally
recording who these children were, I noted how the physical classroom setting supported
multiplicity. Posters, bulletin boards, and a multi lingual library are only a few of the ways this
teacher fostered cultural diversity. Newssheets, field trip forms and school activity letters were (all)
seen in both English and

Why Did Some African Americans Reject Nonviolence
Joel Blackmore
WHY DID SOME AFRICAN AMERICANS REJECT NONVIOLENCE?
Black protest in America in the 1960s developed into two opposing stances, the non violence of the
Civil Rights movement in the South and the violent protests of the urban poor blacks and black
power organisations in the North. In the early 1960 s the main protest form was the Civil Rights
movement. This was predicated on non violent protest. It fo0lowed the principles of non violence
successfully used by Mahatma Gandhi in India. The Civil Rights movement focused on non violent
protest in the Southern States. Thousands of black and white protesters demonstrated peacefully
against segregationВ—against practice where white people had seating preference in public buses,

They frequently carried guns, turned up at incidents where white police were arresting black people
and were involved in highly publicised shoot outs.
Opposeors to Martin Luther King s non violent forms of protest felt that the Civil Rights
Movement was dominated by white people too much and that black people should be more in
control over the protests that affect them the most. Whites were heavily involved in the Civil
Rights Movement on all levels, from senior positions involving planning the strategy and
policies of the movement, to white liberals joining the protests and demonstrations. Malcolm X
and the Nation of Islam felt that white people were not to be trusted and therefore white people
would only harm the struggle for improvement of life for black people. Malcolm X openly
criticised the 1963 Civil Rights march on Washington, where Martin Luther King delivered his
famous I have a dreamВ… speech to over two hundred thousand people. Malcolm X said that the
march had been taken over by white liberals: as they [white liberals] took it over it lost its
militancy. It ceased to be angry, it ceased to be hot, it ceased to be uncompromisingВ…it became
a picnic, a circus . (11) Malcolm X and the Nation of Islam felt that a more uncompromising
solidly black force could achieve far more than the more liberal people of the Civil Rights
Movement. This offered an

An example for this can be found in Romeo and Juliet when Mercutio says At this same ancient feast of Capulet s sups the fair Rosaline whom thou so loves, with all the admirГЁd beauties of Verona. Go thither, and with unattainted eye compare her face with some that I shall show, and I will make thee think thy swan a crow. (Shakespeare Act 1 Scene 1). This quote tell us that Mercutio is telling Romeo to go to the feast and compare Rosaline with the other girls, and that when he does, he will find that she is not as beautiful as the others. This is important to the story as it establishes that Mercutio does not want Romeo to be sad about Rosaline, so he tells him to find someone else. Another example of Philia can be found in the popular childrens novel Charlotte s Web. In Charlotte s Web, E.B White writes Why did you do all this for me? he asked. I don t deserve it. I ve never done anything for you. You have been my friend, replied Charlotte. That in itself is a tremendous thing. (E.B. White 164). • 4. The True Power Of Music Music is an important factor to the life of every human. It invokes the the strongest of emotions and can trigger long forgotten memories, even after years of suppression. Humans tend to take the mysterious power of music for granted, however after this paper I hope to reveal the true power of music and how it could be the greatest things to have ever happen. All throughout history, music follows and evolves with mankind to become a natural occurrence where without music, the world would feel empty, why might that be? Ben Mauk, a contributor to Life s Little Mysteries, believes, As stimulation for food and sex are important for an organism s survival, the fact that similar neural activity is observed in responses to features in music suggests that there could be some evolutionary advantage to the ability to hear or hum a good tune (Mauk). While Mauk s belief of music s existence is because of instinctive stimulation, I believe music is popular because of the multitude patterns that the human braincan follow. The human brainattempts to find patterns in everything it performs, for example a worker performing their daily tasks but when they break that system they may be unsure what to do with their extra time. Even though we might disagree in the invention of music but we could both agree on that music brings people together. On the other hand, Tom de Castella, a writer for BBC News Magazine, would argue, It can be lonely travelling through public space and using ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have seen so many students in Michigan State University(MSU) who feel pretty stressed out about their studies. I think that is because so many people do not do the things that they suppose to do. The other reason I have selected this topic to do the remix on, is that I have seen one of my friends go though this, I mean he was about the drop out of the college, but he changed his life style totally. Like, he started going to class and taking notes and all other things. I have used Storify, which is one of the best platforms for writing the blogs. I have used this website because I was familiar with it and I knew how to use it. For this remix project, my audience was the group of people who want to do well in college like high school students, and other group of people who are thinking about dropping the college or even feeling stressed out (I also consider some international students too). I tried to make the blog as funny as I can. I mean the reason for that is if you go online and try to find this type of article that talks about the same topic as mine, you probably end up with boring article. The article that I used to do the remix on was the most boring article and it also talks about this type of topic which clearly makes it much more boring that is why I decided to add some pictures and some GIF things so that I can attract number of people. ... Like Forest Gump said, sometimes she smells like cigarettes. Lindsey sometimes walks around in public with cigarettes or cigars lodged between her ear and the side of her head, for the entire world to see. Sometimes she stinks like a distillery. Sometimes she smells like beer: sometimes she smells like liquor. It is nothing for Lindsey to pull out a fifth in broad daylight and say, Let s get drunk. Lindsey has very little stage presence. She often acts as if she does not care about her surroundings. She curses and she is loud. She turns ordinary parking lots into movie scenes. She wears her sleeping clothes when she leaves the house and goes to the grocery store. Lindsey loves attention, even if that attention is negative. It is hard to involve her in wholesome family functions because she will turn the best day ever into a most regrettable moment. She always thinks she is right but everyone knows that she is wrong. The Necessary and Proper Clause is stated in Article I, Section 8, and Clause 18 of the Constitution. This Clause is commonly referred to as the Elastic Clause as well as several other names: the Sweeping Clause, the Coefficient Clause, and the Basket Clause, and. Thompson ENG 225: Introduction to Film Nathaniel Millard October 5, 2009 Summary While the movie Unforgiven (1992) directed and starring Clint Eastwood, as William Munny, is in the genre of a western in the late 1800 s. It has a basic theme that we are still making movies about today, justice and what is acceptable and what is not acceptable in our search for it. It is a story of a journey that one man has to make in order for him to care for his children but it ends up being so much more of a journey than he anticipates. This movie is the ultimate of good versus evil on a couple of different levels. It is good guy versus bad guy and it is the evil within fighting the good within and the constant... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The buildings were dark, small and gloomy on the inside and due to the fact that the majority of the movie took place in the nighttime hours and it was stormy more than not, the outside was just as gloomy as the inside. The lighting was minimal as it would have been back then bringing mood with it. The foreshadowing of the stormy weather worked in making this movie what it was, the rain seemed to let you know when something was coming. As much as the wilderness scenery was beautiful, I found it downplayed by the drab colors of the costumes and the non use of color throughout the entire film. It seemed as though the only time color was used was determined by what that particular scene was about. For instance, as English Bob came into town the only item of color was the drab red of the stagecoach, so we knew whoever was in that stagecoach was going to become an important character to a scene coming up, everything else was a muted earth tone of tan, brown, green and blue. As stated in our text a director may simply let their settings just be a backdrop and let the action of that scene take over. (Boggs Petrie, 2008, pg. 374) This was exactly how this movie was told; it focused on the story instead of glamorizing it with colorful costumes and scenery. We needed to see the drabness of the subject in the muted colors of the movie. Another scene that showed a pop of color was that of William (Eastwood) and Ned (Freeman) were having a conversation where William was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Reflection About Depression Only a handful of people know this about me, however one year ago I was diagnosed with moderate suicidal depression. Depression is a mental illness that not only affects how you mentally perceive reality, it affects how your brain processes and executes your actions as well. Depression has not only changed my ways of contemplating my everyday complications , but it has changed my belief about inner and self strength completely. Let me tell you, my depression is the reason I am writing about my belief, in gaining strength from desperate times. Now, I m 14 years young, and have lived in two different countries, one province, and two states in a matter of two and a half years. Which is part of the reason why I am a completely different person now. Moving is aggravating and exasperating for really anyone who goes through it, but it has a whole other perspective when you are a student in high school. Moving was upsetting and set my anxiety and depression off like a firecracker, but at the same time it was an adventure that I was lucky to have had. Why? Because it made me get out of the house and meet people. Sure, I could have stayed inside and slept all summer, but then I might not have been here typing this as of right now. Moving gave me strength by making me get out and find new things and new people. My experience with depression turned my whole life around. • 12. Research Paper On William The Conqueror Duke of Normandy, William the First: Conqueror or Bastard? William the Conqueror: a powerful man who was taking what was rightfully his, or an illegitimate son thirsty for power, only history can tell if his actions were an act of justice. This debate contains a lot of confusion between promises, traditions overlapping, the support of the people, and proven powerful enough to rule. After understanding the conflicts at the time, history has proven that William the Conqueror proved to have a legitimate claim to the throne, much more than his competition at the time. In order to understand history, we have to look back and see how we got to this point, starting with the set up for this situation. To understand William, we have to understand his life. William was born in 1027 to Robert I, Duke of Normandy, by his concubine Arlette, a tanner s daughter from the town of Falaise as an illegitimate son (History.com Staff). This is one of the many factors that came to debate later on as he tries to take the throne since he was born out of an affair. Due to his father s death, he was named Duke of Normandy at age seven (History.com Staff). Many people were not pleased with the former King s decision and started many rebellions, all of which William escaped. In 1051, William visited England and met with his cousin Edward the Confessor, the childless English king. According to Norman historians, Edward promised to make William his heir. Beloved Essay Oftentimes, one can get too caught up in familial matters or personal issues, and as a result, something as simple as providing another with love and value can be long forgotten. Both novels take place in Ohio during late 1980 s to the early 1930 s. In Beloved, the protagonist Sethe continuously mentions how she wishes her mother would have put more effort into their relationship.. Most days, Sethe would only see her mother for one or two hours. Her mother was always busy working in the hot and musty rice field. Sethe felt like her mother never really loved her and did not care much for her well being either. This love is often personified in a mother who will lay down her life for her child. It is known as a selfless sacrifice. Sethe s mother was always working and never had time to spend with her, let alone time to nurse her. One could say Sethe s relationship with her mother was non existent, Sethe constantly reminds herself how she felt abandoned when she was younger. She had to be nursed by Nan, a women who s job was to breastfeed children of the whites as well as other fellow slaves. Nan had to nurse white babies and me too because Ma am was in the rice. The little white babies got it first and I got what was left. Or none. There was no nursing milk to call my own (Morrison, Beloved, 200). Put differently, Sethe did not have the opportunity to create a special mother daughter bond that most mothers create with their child, to ensure the child s protection and enrich their development. • 18. An Analysis Of Seamus Heaney s Mid-Term Break For most students, a break in school signifies the end of classes for the term and a well deserved vacation after a week of intense finals. For others, it is an opportunity to return home to the comfort of family and friends. Yet other students take advantage of the opportunity to earn some money. However, it can also be a time of change. Seamus Heaneys Mid Term Break brilliantly depicts the feeling of loss by using irony, imagery, time and symbolism to detail the timing of events when a tragedy occurs in his family. Heaney first uses irony in the title giving readers the sense that the poem will be about the exciting and fun times of a school break. The word mid term references a point in time as Heaney begins to describe the time line of events of a student when a personal tragedy occurs back home. Another reference to time is the word break used here to signify that something has come to an end. Heaney writes the poem in a chronological order to show how he dealt with the emotional aspect of death as a student. The poem begins with I sat all morning in the college sick bay (l. 1) to establish the starting time and provides the approximate age (time) of the student. The use of the word sick is a clue that the break is not a typical ending to the school term. When someone goes to the nurse s office during school, it is usually because they are sick. A gastric or stomach emptying test is presently the best method of making the diagnosis. In this test, a food, such as scrambled eggs, is labeled with a marker, which can be seen by a scanner. Following ingestion, the scanner tracks the time it takes for the food to leave the stomach. In general, half the stomach contents should leave within about 90 minutes. A final test is the electrogastrogram (EGG). This test, like the EKG on the heart, measures the electrical waves that normally sweep over the stomach and precede each contraction. Modern mathematics, Medicine, and cartographywas all modernized during this age of philosophy. Without the Greeks, present ideals and the way we live our life would not be the same. So it is important that we know what the Greeks invented and their power over our civilization. First of all, the use the same form of democracy that we use in America. They decided that a dictator would have too much control and power. So they got a cabinet of over 500 people for democratic voting. They voted on taxes all the way up to executions. It worked a lot like our jury system, with people randomly chosen to serve. As it was said by Scott J. Cooper; Demokratia, Greek for power of the people, was born in Athens in the 7th century BC. As the city state s oligarchy exploited citizens and created economic, political and social problems, Athenians were inspired by the successful, semi democratic model Sparta had adopted. The Right And Bear Arms Essay There are and always will be people disagreeing over the controversial Second Amendment, the right to bear arms, however there are several reasons why the Second Amendment is beneficial to the community. The Second Amendment to certain people in the United States is seen as an amendment that represents their freedom. Some of the key reasons that the right to bear arms is beneficial to the community is that it allows for citizens to hunt and provide for their families, it allows for people to protect themselves and others, and can keep it so that the government doesn t have uncontrollable power. The amendment also allows for the people to be able to go and buys guns and ammo. The amount of benefits to the community that the second amendment gives off is under estimated by many, due to the news and publicity always being very negative towards guns and their uses. It s a fair assumption to assume that the world, especially the United States, is obsessed with being healthy. From celebrity workout programs to expensive diet systems that make people lose weight, being fit is always what s mainly focused on in the media, daily life, and nationwide. But with obsessions, come unhealthy actions and interests. Most people that anyone knows is most likely upset with some aspect of themselves. On top of this, there are also restrictions and challenges that come with eating a healthy diet that seem simply irradical to address, and unhealthier foods are more available than ever. With these slowly arising issues, anyone would think the nation is making it hard for themselves to be healthy. The society the nation lives in is making it progressively harder and harder to be healthy because of the lifestyles that are easier to achieve. While most agree that being healthy and active is a good thing, some feel that being healthy is too much of a chore, and would rather point fun at the people who choose to have more beneficial lifestyles. Transference is often manifested as an erotic attraction towards a therapist, but can be seen in many other forms such as rage, hatred, mistrust, prettification, extreme dependence, or even placing the therapist in a god like or guru status. When Freud initially encountered transference in his therapy with clients, he felt it was an obstacle to treatment success. But what he learned was that the analysis of the transference was actually the work that needed to be done. The focus in psychodynamic psychotherapy is, in large part, the therapist and client recognizing the transference relationship and exploring what the meaning of the relationship is. Because the transference between patient and therapist happens on an unconscious level, psychodynamic therapists who are largely concerned with a patient s unconscious material use the transference to reveal unresolved conflicts patients have with figures from their childhoods. Countertransference is defined as redirection of a therapist s feelings toward a client, or more generally as a therapist s emotional entanglement with a client. A therapist s atonement to his own countertransference is nearly as critical as his understanding of the transference. He lived during a time of political transformation in England caused by the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution brought social mobility to the middle and lower class, along with more political participation. With this newfound freedom, the people of England felt their liberties were being diminished because they had the ability to accomplish all the more but in some cases, could not. This was just one question of libertybrought up during the time Mill was developing intellectually (Sparks 186). The largest and arguably most influential point Mill makes in his essay is that the harm principle does not only apply to the government anymore but to all of society. In making this argument he is defining societal values in that it shaped areas in which society must respect personal liberties. He constructs his statement on how the harm principle is applied to society in three parts. His first assertion pertains to the liberty of one s own mind. He states, the inward domain of consciousness; demanding liberty of conscience, in the most comprehensive sense; liberty of thought and feeling; absolute freedom of opinion and sentiment on all subjects, practical or speculative, scientific, moral, or theological (Mill 20). In saying this, Mill means that a person s liberty cannot be persecuted if they never act on them. Any thoughts a man may have are his own thoughts and he may think whatever he would like to think. This has shaped societal values because no one is truly obligated to share what they think today, nor is it a societal norm to criticize one s opinions if they differ from your own but it does happen. His second statement addresses the control one individual can have over another. He claims that an individual can plan their life as they please, and should not be met with the pressure of what others may see as being abnormal (Mill 20). By saying this, Mill expresses the ... One of Duchamp s most famous ready mades is called Fountain. This piece is a previously used urinal, with the name R. Mutt 1917 written in black on the side. The installation is a classic example of Dada art, in that it does not make sense. It is art because it is anti art. There is no logic, and there is no reason behind it. It is art because the artist decided it was art. It simply exists. Francis Picabia is another prominent Dada artist. In 1919, he created a diagram of how a supposed Dada alarm clock works. The dada movement aimed to shake the world of modern art up. Art was considered boring and mundane. Dada was a noisy alarm that woke up modern art from merely aesthetic slumber (Elderfield). Picabia s piece was supposed to represent how it changed. The flow of current was actually the flow of change of modern art. While Dada was intended to be a rebellious and purposeful response to conventional and traditional thinking in society, its successor Surrealism resulted from the desire to explore the unconscious mind. • 40. My Year Is My First Year Of College Last year was my first year of college. Freshmen year as a transition for me from High School to College, I don t think I did well in adjusting to college life. I m regretting lots thing I could have done, but I didn t. I wish I could be like other ordinary students live in the dorm, they have more opportunities to involve school s activity, and more chances to get to know more people. As a freshman in college, I was scared about failing my classes so I tried my best to work on every assignment in order to have a good grade. However I still had all kinds of new experiences, like driving by myself to school, a new kind of teaching system and meeting new friends. I had many interesting assignments from all my class, but my English 10M class was the class that helped me improve on my writing. In my English 10M class we had many essayassignments and we were required to do at least three drafts before turning it in. We also had a chance to do peer review and get feedback from professors, which helped a lot for me to understand where I made mistakes and what I needed to work on. After taking an English 10M class, I had unforgettable essay experiences and I learned a lot from it. The narcissism essay had a lot of requirements. The essay was for my English 10M class, and for the assignment, we had to argue about whether narcissism is good or bad. To do this, we used information from our assigned reading as well as our own experiences and opinions. So we needed to pick a side and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Sex Education Vs Single Sex Schools Single sex schools, the new and improved way of learning In 2006 federal legislation allowed public school districts to create single gender schools and classrooms for their students. That was a wise decision considering single sex schools have been proven to benefit students. Although society insist that coed school is a superior learning style and is key to getting better grades they are wrong, single sex schools actually have a better history with the educational performance of their students and due to that their students are acknowledged to obtain a more profound career path. The main purpose of attending any type of school is to gain knowledge and further your knowledge successfully. In 2010, 78.2 percent of high school students in coed schools graduated on time. On the other hand the single sex schools received higher percentages across the board. Eagle Academy in New York, the state s first public all male school, reported an 82 percent graduation rate for the same time period. Correspondingly, the young Women s Leadership Charter School in Chicago reported a 100 percent graduation rate(NASSPE). The main cause for the percent differences are that students in single sex schools are less distracted by their peers and surroundings. The main argument in favor of single sex schooling is that both males and females learn differently, teachers can better educate their students if they are all the same gender because they can employ specific strategies to enhance their ... However, the extent of personal information known by these Internet companies has remained largely unknown as well who they provide and/or sell this information to. However, Internet companies continue to gather lots of personal information from different people who focus on carrying out online activities on a daily basis. Currently, it s estimated that these firms gather personal information from nearly 500 million users but are hesitant to provide this information to the other firms or individuals. As their unwillingness to share has attracted significant congressional inquiry, things could finally change in California following the introduction of a bill that may force companies to disclose the kind of personal information they have gathered and how this information is being used. Summary of California s Right to Know Act: California s Right to Know Act has been a long overdue bill in the State s legislature that seeks to force Internet companies like Facebook and Google to disclose the collected personal information and the use of that information (Cohen, 2013). • 43. Essay on The Sound of Waves by Yukio Mishima In The Sound of Waves, Yukio Mishima creates an exquisite story which has strong idealistic and mythic features. Although Mishima writes of young love and tranquility in The Sound of Waves, his later works are categorized as aggressive and containing violent sexual actions. Even Mishima himself referred to The Sound of Waves as that great joke on the public (qtd. in Ishiguro 385). However, one cannot compare this novel to Mishima s other literary pieces; in order to classify it as romanticized, one must evaluate the usage of imagery, an idealized setting, mythical allusions, and characterizations which establish the romantic driven qualities in The Sound of Waves. It is apparent that nature plays a major role throughout The Sound of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mythical allusions described by Mishima serve to highlight the other qualities within The Sound of Waves. When Shinji first catches sight of Hatsue, she is letting her hair stream and her cheeks glow (7). These characteristics are shown many times throughout the novel and resemble Vergil s depictions of goddesses such as Venus and Juno in the Aeneid. One conflict that Hatsue must overcome is when Yasuo attempts to rape her; his plot was obstructed by the intervention of a furious hornet. Hatsue sees the flashing of the little golden colored wings and wonders what god it [is] who [has] come to her rescue. (93).The interference of the hornet seems far fetched, for most would think that the hornet would not only attack Yasuo, but also Hatsue. In this case, Mishima created an idealized situation were nature as saved Hatsue from the immoral actions of Yasuo. The setting of the island Uta jima is idealized, which creates a place where the romance between Hatsue and Shinji can seem realistic. The reader begins the novel with a description of this island and two spots with surpassingly beautiful views. (3).After this, the reader is introduced to a young man, Shinji, climbing up the stairs of the lighthouse. Mishima depicts this area as one of the most beautiful views on the island. The ... • 45. The Appeal Of Pathos In Truman Capote s In Cold Blood The best novels are the ones that connects with the reader and just toys with their emotions, as if they too were also in the story by using pathos, the most powerful appeal. This holds true with Truman Capote s, In Cold Blood and his writing appealing to the reader s emotions in the portrayal of Perry Edward Smith and Richard Dick Eugene Hickock, the two murders with an addition of Capote showing a great deal of favoritism to Perry over Dick. Throughout the novel, Capote uses tone and diction to allure the reader into the novel s world and into every character s life, just as if we knew their whole backstory. We see two heartless, cold blooded killers that slain the innocent family of the Clutters with the intent to leave no witnesses and to rob them of their hard earned money but Capote deceives the reader s emotions throughout the entirety of the book to humanize straight killers and make them likable. We often see a murderer as a psychopath without any emotion but it is hard to label Smith and Hickock one because Capote brings the reader into their lives in a way that we would feel sorry and have pity for them. Capote makes the reader relate to Smith and Hickock by describing their families and showing insight into the killers dreams and aspirations so we could perceive them as people and forget that they ended the future of the Clutters. • 46. William Hemingway s The Cafe After the older waiter turns off the light to the cafe and closes up, he then proceeds to carry the conversation with himself. This again, displays his loneliness. The text states, Turning off the electric light he continue the conversation with himself. It is the light of course but it is necessary that the place be clean and pleasant. You do not want music. Certainly you do not want music. Nor can you stand before a barwith dingily although hat is all that is provided for these hours (Hemingway, 382). He continues to convince himself that the cafe is needed for all the people who are lonely, like him, and the old man. However, it is time to close up and head home. Instead, he decides to go to a bodega. The text doesn t overtly state why he goes to the bodega, but you can infer that he is trying to understand the younger waiter. He knows that a bodega isn t like the cafe at all, but he is willing to give it a try. Besides, he doesn t want to go home to nothing. The text goes on to say the following, What did he fear? It was not fear or dread. It was a nothing that he knew too well. It was all a nothing and a man was nothing too. It was only that and lightwas all it needed and a certain cleanness and order (Hemingway, 383). In order to cope with nothing, he too, needs to go to a cafe but none are open at this hour. He then goes on to say a prayer but replaces the lord, god, and religion for nothing or nada. For the older waiter, he doesn t find meaning in religion. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some patients refused to participate in the study, while others agreed to participate but failed to sign the consent form. All the patients admitted to the intensive care unit during the month of April to October 2006 were eligible to participate in the study and a questionnaire was used as the tool to collect data. The privacy of the patient was maintained at all times while the nurses collected the data. Patients provided information of their own will. Patients were tested on admission and on discharge. • 48. Creating A Safe And Inviting Classroom Environment Essay In order to provide a safe and inviting classroom environment, students must be valued, appreciated, and respected. Promoting diversity in the classroom allows students to explore different languages, experiences, ethnic differences and the cultural perspectives of their classmates. Developing this type of environment is equally as important as the classroom standard, and is often seen in schools with an increased bilingual population. The school where I am currently working has a high Hispanic bilingual population, and proves to me how diversity in the classroom can still breed success. The Andrew T. Morrow Elementary School philosophy builds on a foundation promoting inclusivity with the goal to marry cultural diversity with the classroom pragmatic. For this, each student regardless of origin and/or language is given an equal opportunity to succeed in each academic subject. Having observed in a classroom of eight year olds, nearly half of the class was bilingual. Interviewing the lead teacher (quotes throughout are direct responses from the lead teacher) gave me a better perspective on how her bilingual classroom operates. Before formally recording who these children were, I noted how the physical classroom setting supported multiplicity. Posters, bulletin boards, and a multi lingual library are only a few of the ways this teacher fostered cultural diversity. Newssheets, field trip forms and school activity letters were (all) seen in both English and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Black protest in America in the 1960s developed into two opposing stances, the non violence of the Civil Rights movement in the South and the violent protests of the urban poor blacks and black power organisations in the North. In the early 1960 s the main protest form was the Civil Rights movement. This was predicated on non violent protest. It fo0lowed the principles of non violence successfully used by Mahatma Gandhi in India. The Civil Rights movement focused on non violent protest in the Southern States. Whites were heavily involved in the Civil Rights Movement on all levels, from senior positions involving planning the strategy and policies of the movement, to white liberals joining the protests and demonstrations.
