A Brief Note On Shale Gas And Natural Gas
Shale gas is a natural gas that can be extracted from the fabric of shale rocks by means of
hydraulic fracturing, or fracking. There is controversy surrounding this extraction process, as in
the process of building facilities in which gases are extracted, people are made aware of the
hazards that are involved both with building the site of extraction and with extracting the gas itself.
This essay aims to assess the extent to which these hazards can affect those residing in Lancashire.
Throughout the course of human history, conventional natural gas deposits have been the easiest to
extract from formations below the surface. These conventional deposits cannot last forever and
are declining in number, meaning that people are pushed to search for alternative sources whilst
increasing the price of the natural gas that is currently available (Berman, 2016). Fortunately, the
search for alternative sources for natural gas has generally been positive; recent utilisation of
unconventional gas deposits in the US which have led to them becoming the US s primary
source of indigenous gas production (Korn, 2010: 5). As humans advance technologically and
steadily improve their geological knowledge, the percentage of unconventional gas sources that
make up power supplies continue to grow. In 2010, 47% of the UK s electricity was produced by
burning natural gas. In comparison 28% of the electricity the UK had produced in 2010 was from
burning coal, 16% from nuclear reactors and 7% from

Binary Oppositions
The difference of characters in Roald Dahl s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory emphasizes the
binary oppositions excitement and calm through the verbs in which the characters Charlie and
Willy Wonka explain. Nodelman and Reimer analyze binary oppositions in children s literature as it
define[s] some of the most central thematic concerns of a surprising amount of children s literature
(Nodelman and Reimer 199). Specifically, in the chapter 28 of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,
Dahl juxtaposes Willy Wonka from Charlie through the oppositions: excitement and calm. Dahl
portrays these qualities through the verbs in how Willy Wonka and Charlie react to the news that
Charlie is the remaining child in his company. When Charlie confirms

Risk Management Program For A Financial Institution . As
Risk Management Program for a Financial Institution As time has shown, financial institutions
undertake an abundance of uncertainty causing unpredictable risk consequences. As a result,
executives instill risk management programs to assist in managing the organizations risks so they
align with the company s goals. Commonly sought goals include legal and regulatory compliance,
tolerable uncertainty, survival, business continuity, earnings stability, profitability and growth,
social responsibility and economy of riskmanagement operations. Through the implementations of
goal oriented programs, an organization can effectively minimize risk uncertainty. All organizations

Furthermore, outdated technology would impact the facilities ability to prevent cyber attacks,
compete with competitors, provide superior customer service, and maintain workplace efficiency.
Additionally, events influencing the economic and political environment could impact financial
stability for the organizations. External environmental hazards include extreme weather conditions
that affect customer and employee safety. In addition, factors within ABC Community Banks
internal environment include communications channels, as well as, the facilities culture.
Communication channels impact the institutions policies, procedures and trainings, which when
inadequate may cause work place errors. Moreover, assessing the culture will determine the general
attitude and viewpoints of employees (Elliott, 2012). In scanning the environment of ABC
Community Bank, the organizations can identify areas of weakness and adapt, in order to maintain
tolerable uncertainty, while increasing business continuity and ultimately survival. Therefore, ABC
Community Banks internal and external analysis will provide the groundwork for creating a risk
management program that aligns with the organizations goals and risk aptitude.
Identifying Risks Through the examination of ABC Community Banks environments, both internal
and external risks of the organizations can be identified. External

Brain Observation
On the 12 of March of 2016 I went to McAllen International Museum of Arts Science (IMAS) to
attend an exposition about the brain. The exposition covered the entire museum, especially one big
room where there were many interactive activities. Although the room was full of people (mostly
kids), I had the opportunity to experience some of the activities. These activities were all related to
the brainand the way it reacted to certain situations. Each activity covered a different aspect of the
brain, for example, there was one activity in which the participant had to catch a ruler with two
fingers, the first time you try it with your strong hand(in my case the right hand), and the second
time, with the hand that it is used the least. In the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brain teasers are puzzles created with the intention to test the brain function and/or to show
people the reality of how their brains work. These puzzles challenge the brain and test out our
cognitive abilities, the cognitive abilities are more about how we function, these abilities help
us achieve complex and easy task of the everyday life. There are many cognitive abilities and
they vary depending on what part of the brain you are using. Naturally, as the time passes by and
we grow older our cognitive abilities start to decline little by little especially if they are not used
often but there are many options that help to prevent a fast decline on the abilities. Overall I had
a very good time at the museum, the time went fast by and I was able to learn a lot of how my
brain functions. A great thing was that it not only covered brain function but also food and the
calories which was also very informative. I think it was especially good that the activities were
very interactive, when I went to the museum I was expecting a 3 hour long speech about the brain
and its functions, but it turned out to be a great, fun, hands on learning experience which I enjoyed

Bo Mcnulty
Best friends can be worst/best part of your life. They can sometimes be nice but they can also be
mean, but that s what makes he/she your best friend. My best friend would probably be Bo
Mcnulty. I have known him since I was in first grade . I will be telling you why me and Bo are
best friends. Me and Bo grew up together practically, when we were little we played with the
same toys, played the same games, and played with the same type of people. We would always
think of something dumb to do on the weekends or whenever I was at his house or he was at
mine. We used to play something called airsoft and I think us playing that all the time had
something to deal with why we are such good friends. Bo has property behind his house so every

Almost every week I would be at his house or he would be at mine. We have started to not play
airsoft as much and turned towards football, xbox one, and other games/sports like that.
Normally when we would play football we would have more than just us two unless we were
playing catch or a game like that. We would also ride the four wheeler all the time now, but I
recently got pulled over on the four wheeler for driving on the road (it s the only way to get to
the woods) so now we don t ride it to often now. Some may ask why not someone else and my
answer to that question is, I don t have someone else, and when I mean someone else I mean
more than one person. I have many friends that do that same stuff with me, but the reason that he
is my best friend is because he has been here since the beginning. When I was in first grade and
didn t have too many friends I met Bo,and after I met him I started to meet my other best friends
like Kayden, Ethan, Jaxson, Shannon, and many other people that have changed my life forever.

Assuring effective succession is considered an issue in all kinds of firms (Miller, 1993; and

For a large, established business like the Virgin group it is recommended that an MBO approach be
utilised in the establishment of goals and objectives for succession plans. In this management
system, specific performance goals are jointly determined by employees and their managers,
progress towards accomplishing these goals is periodically reviewed, and rewards are allocated
on the basis of this progress (Robbins et. al., 2009). This method is ideal for creating goals and
objectives for succession plans as by incorporating the entire company as part of the process they
are preparing the organisation for a strategic change. An MBO approach requires participation from
all members of a business. It has been proven through recent studies that best practice organizations
effectively integrate leadership development and succession planning systems by fully utilizing
managerial personnel in the creation of succession plans (Groves, 2008).
As mentioned in the case study, the Virgin Group is made up of multiple independent businesses
and consequently possesses different management styles and different expectations. Therefore, for
the MBO method to be successful for the group, leaders from each of these independent businesses
along with Richard Branson will need to be participative in the establishment of goals and
objectives. The company would have to be prudent in using this method as studies have found this
process to be unsuccessful when top management have

Channel 331 Mtv Advertising
Have you ever watched a commercial and felt like it was made specifically for you? You may have
felt this way because advertisement companies strive to target a certain group of people. These
groups can range from children to adults and often target subgroups within the larger group. From
cute animals to attractive men and women, advertisingis strategically programmed to make the
viewer want to be associated with the product. Advertisement companies use many techniques to
persuade viewers to become customers.
Currently, television ads are set to appear at certain times of the day or month and appeal to the
those who tend to watch that station. I chose to collect data from two different sources, YouTube

However, I do not believe that these appeals would work for all people. I tend to like products
that offer a fun lifestyle because I enjoy having fun. I like to explore new foods, places, and ideas
and I enjoy products that help me achieve those desires. Like any other twenty two year old
woman, I enjoy feeling attractive. In our readings, we learned that many woman report being
unhappy with their bodies even at a young age. I tend to be persuaded to use products that
promise a slimmer body or more beautiful skin. I do not necessarily want to be model thin, but I
like to look healthy. Also, products that can save me money are a God send because I am a
college student who needs to save every penny possible.
To conclude, after watching ads for over two hours I have learned that advertising is an effective
method of persuasion. I noticed that several ads applied multiple appeals to persuade viewers to
buy their products. I also noticed that several techniques were applied to make the viewer more
interested in products. Before this exercise, I did not realize that I subconsciously paid attention to
advertising on television. In the future, I will try to be more conscious of my buying

Promoting A New Rice Wine
To promote a new rice wine I have created a 60 second commercial where the enlightened Zen
master IkkyЕ« uses the five basic categories of sabi, wabi, aware, yugen, and ma to demonstrate
the kosher of this new product. IkkyЕ« was used due to his notoriety for his infusion of Japanese
art and literature with Zen attitudes and ideals. IkkyЕ« s significance and understanding of Zen
culture made him the perfect candidate to conduct a teaceremony to demonstrate the quality and
spiritualness of the new rice wine.
The commercial will begin with a panning shot of a rock pathway leading to a teahouse. In the
background of the panning shot will be the rock garden that faces east. The tea ceremony will be
taking place at sunrise so that the sun will be rising over the rock garden. During this shot, the
sonorous and melancholy chirping of birds will be used to evoke a peaceful but sad emotion.
Together the birds and sun will symbolize the beautiful but fragile and ephemeral nature of life,
whereby the birds enchanting songs at the start of the day will be silenced by the sun s setting at
the end of the day.
The panning shot will end at the doorframe and the camera shot will assume an angle from which
the viewer will feel that he/she is the one taking part in the tea ceremony. By using
cinematography, in particular the anonymity creates a will to produce the idea of standing between
being and non being. The doorframe will present a sense of space and emptiness. Beside the

The Pros And Cons Of Postal Service
Hence, they try to get involved in generating revenue by infringing on net neutrality principles.
They prioritize data packets from certain sites, which are ready to pay for this service.
For an analogy, postal service officials don t read the letters they are delivering. For a common
service, is it possible for them to read the letter and decide if they are going to deliver the packet or
not? Is it ethical for a postman to priorities a mail delivery by taking bribe from the sender?
For another analogy, roads treat all commuters equally. They don t charge differentially based on
what vehicles are carrying or what the destination is. Roads or vehicle registration authority may
charge more for bigger vehicles since they damage the roads more. But going by the same analogy,
ISPs can charge differently to heavy usage customers. By no means they have the right to inspect
the data internet packets.
Another analogy is of electricity service. Power distribution authority doesn t charge variably by
looking into what people are using the energy for. They may charge variably based on amount of
energy usage. The same can be done by ISPs to increase revenue or control congestion. They can
charge more to the people for consuming more data thus managing congestion and increasing
profitability.
Competition is the mother of invention. By prioritizing data packets coming from certain sites,
ISPs are hindering the competition. New market players generally do not have a budget to pay

How Does The Digestive System Working Together To Ensure...
The human body is a fascinating organism with a multiplicity of complex systems working
together to ensure the health of the individual. Join us as we take a Fantastic Voyage through our
healthy, 55 year old male subject to witness how nutrients are ingested and passed through the
body. During this journey, we will pass through the digestive, circulatory, and digestive systems
to better understand how the body receives nutrients, how they are broken down, and finally,
how they are expelled from the body. Our journey will begin as we enter our male subject s body
through his food, in this case, a sumptuous hamburger, crispy french fries, and a mug of frothy
root beer. We will begin our journey through the human body by entering the test subject through
the digestive system, which begins with the mouth. As we are quickly inhaled by our ravenous
subject, notice how mastication enables food to be broken down by saliva and the simultaneous
mashing and gnawing of teeth. Moving from the front center of the subject s mouth to the back,
you will notice the various types of teeth that include: two sets of incisors, a set of canines, a set
of premolars, and a set of first and second molars (Thibodeau, 1992). During mastication, a clear
substance known as salivary amylase is secreted to facilitate chewing and begin the digestive
process. This fluid will facilitate our journey down to the esophagus and into the stomach. Located

Drug And Alcohol Treatment Of Alcoholics Anonymous And...
Twelve step programs are commonly used in drug and alcohol treatment. Alcoholics
Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous both utilize the twelve steps, along with many other
treatment centers. The twelve steps are used as a tool to stay sober and overcome addictions to
substance abuse. The first step involves admitting one is powerless over the drug. It also
involves admitting that due to the drug, one is no longer in control of his or her life. The
second step is coming to the belief that there is a greater power that can restore one to sanity.
The greater power can be anything from God to a higher power such as nature. The third step is
making the decision to turn one s will and life over to the higher power. This is when an
individual fully commits oneself to the belief in something greater than him or her self. The
fourth step is a moral inventory of oneself. Many individuals make a list of all the wrongs he or
she has done while in the fourth step. (Alcoholics Anonymous Publishing, 1981) The fifth step
involves admitting to a higher power, oneself, and other people the exact nature of the offenses
one has committed. The sixth step is preparing oneself to have a higher power remove the
character defects. Asking the higher power to remove the deficiencies is step number seven. Step
eight is making a list of the individuals harmed in one s addiction and preparing oneself to make
amends with those people. Step nine is fulfilling step eight and making those amends with hurt

Abe Lincoln and the Battle of Gettysburg The Battle of Gettysburg took place in the town of
Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. John Buford led Union troops to Gettysburg and when he arrived him
and his men were informed that the Southern troops that they were looking for had just left the
town. This was the beginning of one of the bloodiest battles in all of history. From the outside of
Gettysburg the Southern General James Pettigrew reported to his superiors that he had visited

First, General Lee was the leader of the Confederate army. He divided the army into three
different divisions. By mid June, all of these divisions were on the move North to the North.
During their travel up North, they did have a lot of random battles with Northern troops,
however they continued on their way almost steamrolling over all the Northern troops. On June
21, however one of the divisions that was led by General Ewell, entered into Chambersburg
Pennsylvania. A few days later, the other two divisions arrived in Pennsylvania. They took food
and horses from the farms that scattered around the countryside. One of the Confederate
soldiers wrote to his wife explaining that they were doing all of this to pay back these people for
some of the damage that they have done us even though we are not doing them half as bad as
they have done us. The soldier added, We will have to fight here, and when it comes it will be
the biggest on record. The Southern Confederate troops in Pennsylvania were somewhat
scattered, however General Lee was not even worried about this. He felt safe, mainly because he
believed that their enemy General Hooker s Union army had yet to cross over the Potomac River.
Lee, however did not realize one key thing and that was that his scouts were so far away that they
could not report to him quickly which had then meant that General Lee still did not even know the

With great care he rearranged his life. He got up hours early, did the shopping, cooked the

long that is. He did his work, collected the boy from the school, came home and made the

She is dressed in long denim pants, a white tee with long sleeves, a pair of black old fashioned

all students stand and line up near the door, which opens up to a cheerful adult in her early thirties

students, she leads us through the hallways into another room, filled with small desks and

Religion In The Chronicles Of Narnia
Someone in today s day and age resurrecting from the dead is unheard of. Yes, there are some
unexplainable medical mysteries, but the only time we ever hear of someone returning from the
dead is in works of literature or art. Anytime a character is resurrected from the dead, it s alluding
to the biblical story, The Resurrection. The story is about Jesuswho died on the cross for sins of
God s people and three days later rose from the dead in accordance with the scripture and God s
word. It was found that Jesus had risen from the dead, when two women walked to his tomb to

He alludes to The Resurrection, in his work The Winter s Tale. During the story, King Leontes
wrongfully accused his wife, Hermione, and childhood friend, Polixenes, of adultery. He goes as
far as ordering the death of Polixenes, ordering his wife to be tried in court, and ordering the
child Hermione is pregnant with to be abandoned. After his wife dies, the King realizes his
wrongdoings. Sixteen years go by and suddenly a recently completed statue of Hermione comes
to life, an allusion to the resurrection of Jesus. In Act 5 Scene 3, the sculptor, Paulina says, Tis,
time, descend, be stone to more, approach . She continues to say Bequeath to death your
numbness, for him dear life redeems you. Hermione then steps down from her pedestal and
King Leontes says O! If this be magic, let it be as lawful as eating. This scene in the play alludes
to John 20:14 At this, Mary Magdalene turned around and saw Jesus standing there , as well as
John 20:18 Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news saying I have seen the Lord .
The simile as lawful as eating is used by King Leontes after seeing Hermione come to life. This
helps show the reader the King s desperation for this so called magic to not be temporary or short

Summary Of Ghosts Of Ole Miss
Quint Swanberg
Professor McCarthy
Business Ethics
16 October 2015
Ghosts of Ole Miss Every higher institution of learning has their own set of myths and history.
Some of them may be vaguely true and some may be highly influential. The history of the
institution may have a negative effect on those who look to apply or be a part of the institution.
The history of a place sets the epitome of future enrollees. Some of the ghosts that haunt any college
may have an extremely negative impact on how they are viewed today. This negative perception of
the university can lead to strong economic deficits. Throughout trying to combat negative concepts
that are thrust upon an institution, they have resolved issues of ethics, violence and, to most
importantly, boost cohesion and moral. Throughout this essay, I will be examining the effects of
one of the most controversial university enrollments. James Meredith paved the way for African
American acceptance into a historically all White University. No matter how much adversity
Meredith would encounter, he would not give up or give in to institutional racism. The want to
keep Ole Miss segregated by those there did not hinder his success. In an attempt to end racial
segregation, the Supreme Court ordered the admittance of James Meredith to the campus. This
action was a clear defiance of racial segregation. This resulted in an abundant amount of not only
riots but also casualties. Meredith paved the way for other African Americans

Assessment Of An Best Assessment For Diane Essay
Assessment Plan
Assessment Question In order to provide the best assessment for Diane, we as a team need to
focus on our assessment question as follows: Who is Diane as a person, and what are her unmet
needs in her daily life, especially in regards to her current mode of communication and her
interactions with family/partners; additionally, are there any barriers currently halting progress? It
is vital that Diane s best interests are always on the foreground; her own priorities and her own
desires will lead our assessment into future interventions. We are able to take apart the above
question in four steps in order ascertain why this is a valid goal to attain for Diane.
First, it is important to assess Diane s overall unmet needs. In understanding one s unmet needs, we
are able to assist Diane in engaging in her own interactions and activities in her daily life
(Beukelman Mirenda, 2013, p. 8). Research has shown that children and young adults with cerebral
palsy are at risk for having a high amount of unmet needs, especially in relation to health care
(Jackson, Krishnaswami, McPheeters, 2011; Nieuwenhuijse et al., 2007). As health care
professionals, we need to be aware of Diane s unmet needs in order to identify her own personal
goals and skills in order to plan an accurate model of intervention.
Second, it is necessary to understand Diane s current mode of communication. Beukelman and
Mirenda (2013) remind that It is important to remember that everyone

Summer Camp
It was summer of 2013 and it was my first time traveling alone. I was going to ChampГ©ry,
Switzerland. I felt excited because it s a part of the world which I haven t visited before. Going to
the airport by myself and going through customs was a bit of a hassle, but nothing I can t handle.
When I arrived at ChampГ©ry by train, I had to walk to the camp which not that far Just a 10

Genocide in Rwanda Essay
Genocide
War is not a necessary evil humans must endure. Although, war is not necessary, humans go to
war to try to gain power, fortune, and to spread their particular group s religions and beliefs. By
definition civilization is an advanced state of intellectual, cultural, and material development in
human society, marked by progress in the arts and sciences, the extensive use of record keeping,
including writing, and the appearance of complex political and social institutions. The chaos of
war is reflected in the semantic history of the word war. War can be traced back to the Indo
European root *wers , to confuse, mix up. In the Germanic family of the Indo European languages,
this root gave rise to several words having to do with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also had begun organized slaughter, starting in the capital Kigali. They had killed nearly one
million Rwandans in 100 days time.
The first people to be killed were those most likely to resist the plan of genocide. Those people
included the Prime Minister, the Prisdent of the constitutional court, priests, leaders of the Liberal
Pary, etc. Also, those who did not immediately join the comapaign, like the governor of the south,
were removed from their political positions and some politicians were killed.
As the killing intensified, the international community deserted Rwanda. The US closed their eyes
to the problems going on in Rwanda and Burundi because it did not affect them. Western nations
landed troops in Rwanda or Burundi in the first week to evacuate their citizens, did so, and left.
The UN mission (UNAMIR), created in October 1993 to keep the peace and assist the
governmental transition in Rwanda, sought to intervene between the killers and civilians. It also
tried to mediate between the RPF and the Rwandan army after the RPF struck from Rwanda to
protect Tutsi and rescue their battalion encamped in Kigali as part of the Accord. On April 21, 1994,
the United Nations Security Council, at the behest of the United States which had no troops in
Rwanda Belgium, and others, voted to withdraw all but a remnant of UNAMIR. The Security

Child Support Research Papers
Child support is the defined as the monthly payments made by the non custodial parent to help
cover the financial care of their child or children. Those payments go to the custodial parent,
caregiver, or guardian. In family law, child support is usually arranged during a dissolution of
marriage, divorce, or after the determination of paternity.
Typically, there are no gender requirements when it comes to paying child support. For example, a
child s father may pay the mother or mother can pay the father. Where there is joint custody, the
child is considered to have two custodial parents instead of only one, and then one of the custodial
parents will still be deemed responsible for paying monthly child support.
This periodic payment is meant

The Financial Performance Of Tesco Plc
In this report I will be analysing and evaluating the financial performance of Tesco PLC over the
past 5 years (2010 to 2014).
Background Company Information
Tesco was founded in 1919 by Jack Cohen, he originally started up his business as a market stall
selling surplus groceries in the East End of London. The company is now not only a grocery store
but also a general merchandise retailer, selling clothes, furniture, electrical items and wide range of
other products and services including Tesco Bank, Tesco Mobile, and Blinkbox video on demand
service. Tesco currently operates in 12 countries around the world, employ over 500,000 people
and serve tens of millions of customers every week both in store and online.
Tesco became a private limited company in 1932 and in 1947 Tesco Stores (Holdings) PLC floated
on the stock exchange with a share price of 25p per share. Tesco were interested in what their
customers buying habits were in order to try and evolve their company so they decided to closely
watch customers behaviour and this led to the introduction of the Clubcard scheme in 1995 and a
banking service in 1997. This allowed them to collect customer data and personalise their discounts
in response to what they bought and this made them the UK s top supermarket. Aggressive
negotiation with suppliers helped them grow their market share from a mere 7% in 1971 to 31%
in 2007 making them the UK s top supermarket, which they still are today, (as according to the

The Case Of The Palm Island Death
The well known case of the Palm Island death in custody in 2004, refers to the tragic death of
Cameron Doomadgee, who is also referred to in most legal and media documents by his tribal
name, Mulrunji. Mulrunji died on the 19th November, 2004 after being taken into custody by
Senior Sergeant Christopher Hurley to the Palm Island watch house (Hurley v. Clements Ors
(2008). The grounds for his arrest according to the court documents, was for being a public
nuisance after swearing at PoliceLiaison Officer, Lloyd Bengaroo. Mulrinji was intoxicated at the
time of his arrest, with post mortem results showing a blood alcohol concentration of 0.292%
(Hurley v. Clements Ors (2008). The lengthy legal battle that ensued was attempting to... Show

The court documents state that if the matter of swearing had proceeded to prosecution, whether the
swearing had actually occurred would have been brought into question (Hurley v. Clements Ors
(2008). Queensland statistics show that 2,792 Indigenous Australians were arrested for public order
offences for the year 2015 2016, compared with 5,991 for non Indigenous Australians. This is
rather alarming given that only four per cent of people aged over ten years old identify as
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander in Queensland (ABS, 2017). The Australian Bureau of
Statistics reports the age standardised offender rates per 100,000 for persons over the age of ten
identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander for 2015 2016 is 9,576 compared with 1,882 for
non Indigenous Australians (ABS, 2017). Information in the court documents indicate that Mulrunji
became agitated after being arrested, becoming violent once arriving at the police station and
subsequently assaulting Senior Sergeant Hurley while being taken from the paddy wagon into the
police station. Senior Sergeant Hurley s discretionary decision to arrest Mulrunji for a public
nuisance offence had dire consequences resulting in a violent altercation and a subsequent death. It
is an unfortunate reality that Indigenous Australians are over represented in our criminal justice
system and are being arrested at disproportionate rates compared to non Indigenous

Nursing Liability As A Nurse
Nursing Liability As a nurse, there continues to become a concern with lawsuits held against the
healthcare professional. With the increase number of responsibilities for nurses and the idea of
being faced with nursing staff shortages, the risk of liability increases. Nurses has a duty to do or
promote good, to prevent harm, and to remove evil or harm (Burkhardt and Nathaniel, 2007, pg.

homicide in the death of newborn by a grand jury in Colorado. This essay will first discuss the
emotions felt by the Colorado Board of Nursing in the case held against the three nurses. Second,
this essay will whether or not the nurses were trying to avoid causing pain to the baby and as a
result the medication error occurred. Third, there will be a discussion on other occupations in
which consequences of unintentional errors can have a legal impaction on the organization. Fourth,
there will be a discussion on how the nursing profession should respond to the frighten legal threat

Examples Of Sustainment Operations
When is comes to recent examples of sustainment operations, I think it would be fair to say that in
both Iraq and Afghanistan, sustainment is the largest portion of what we as an Army have been
doing. To be sure, there are many Soldiers and operators who attacked and maneuvered in order to
destroy, defeat, delay, divert, etc. However, most of us were there to support and sustain those
operations. You cannot win a war without the three sustainment elements of logistics, personnel
services, and health service support. I would say that sustainment operations in the recent theaters
of operation have been a tremendous success. If there have been failures in the realm of
sustainment, they have come in the form of paying too much

While walking down the street passing by people, talking with others, the words they use are pretty
harsh, I wonder what the people they talk with think; do they think that this person needs to learn

Analysis Of Elegy Written In A Country Churchyard
Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard is a poem by Thomas Gray which was first published in
1751. The origins of the poem are unknown, but it was somewhat inspired by Gray s thoughts of
the death of the poet Richard West in 1742. The poem presents the argument that the remembrance
of death can be good and bad. The narrator finds comfort in thinking about the lives once lived by
the people buried in the churchyard. The poem is not just about death, it is about how people are
remembered after they have died. In the first stanza of the poem we see the first metaphor in the
poem. Line one, The curfew tolls the knell of parting day , is a metaphor for death because a
knell is a bell that rings when someone dies. The author could be saying that the day is dying, or
ending, because the curfew is a bell that rings at the end of the day. In line two, the author
replaces the word over with o er in order to make the number of syllables fit the iambic
pentameter. In the second stanza, the author uses alliteration to show how quiet and peaceful the
churchyard is by saying And all the air a solemn stillness holds (line 6). The author also uses
personification to talk about the the bells, by saying they are drowsy (line 8). The use of
personification is continued into the third stanza. The speaker does not say that the owl is hooting,
instead he states
that the owl is moping and complaining (line 10), which is something that a human would do,
and not an owl. In stanza 4, the speaker is looking over the graves and saying that this is where
the ancestors of the town are buried. He describes them as rude , but when this poem was
written, rude didn t mean impolite, it meant someone from the country or someone who was
unsophisticated. The people in the graves were most likely farmers or country men. In stanza 5,
the speaker clearly states that the ancestors that are in the graves are dead and are never going to
wake up. He lists things that would normally wake a person up, such as the smell of the breeze
first thing in the morning, the sound of birds tweeting, and the sound of a roosters cock a doodle
do or the sound of a horn being blown. The next stanza focuses on the pleasures that the dead
ancestors

A Raisin in the Sun
Though there was a heightened sense of tension over civil rights in the late 1950s when A Raisin
in the Sun was written, racial inequality is still a problem today. It affects minorities of every age
and dynamic, in more ways than one. Though nowadays it may go unnoticed, race in every aspect
alters the way African Americans think, behave, and react as human beings. This is shown in many
ways in the play as we watch the characters interact. We see big ideas, failures, and family values
through the eyes of a disadvantaged group during an unfortunate time in history. As Martin Luther
King said, Blacks are ...harried by day and haunted by night by the fact that you are a Negro, living

Toward the end of the play his spirit is broken, and he behaves almost like a madman, plotting to
give in to Lindner and accept his offer; this action greatly worries his mother. The whole time,
Walter wasn t simply looking for a chance to follow through with his plans. He was seeking
support from the system that he found himself subject to. This idea comes up in Gertrude Samuels
Even More Crucial Than in the South. ...the real drive that is now rising ominously is a demand for
personal dignity (Samuels 1546). His personal dignity is at stake repeatedly throughout the story
when he finds himself battling against a troubled family and a corrupt system. The racism steeped

issues. The three women in the story, Beneatha, Ruth, and Mama, represent the different views
Black women took during these troublesome times. There were women like Beneatha, who didn t
want to live the typical life of a wife and mother, and openly disapproved the assimilation of
Blacks into American culture as well: Because I hate assimilationist Negroes! (Hansberry 1500).
She wanted to become highly educated, and to change the world somehow. She wanted to be

been caused by the unfair rules of her time constantly being reiterated to her through several
mediums. Over and over again she is told that she must

Military Drones Controversy
Today the use of drones has moved beyond military and recreational use and has emerged as a

Most pilots have to complete several hundred hours of logged flight training to get certified a

minimum level of experience required to be considered a airline captain. In the case of military
drone pilots ### hours of simulated flight time is all that is required due to the fact that drone
pilots do not ever actually have any actual flight experience. Flight simulators are often used for
flight training for agencies and departments that have the money and access to them. However
drone pilots rarely ever actually train in anything other than a simulator. Flight controls for an

The Creator of Suspense Essay
The Creator of Suspense Alfred Hitchcock is one of the most well known directors of all time
bringing murder and mystery to a new light. His films, starting in 1925 with The Pleasure Garden
and ending in 1976 with the film Family Plot , set a precedent for all other directors in the film
industry. Many story lines and techniques within the cinematography of Hitchcockare common
standards for films of today.
However, Hitchcock did not start out as a brilliant director, but instead started from the very bottom
of the business. As a young man Hitchcock was raised and lived in England with his parents. When
a new Paramount studio opened he rushed to get a job there having had interest in film making for
quite a bit of time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, in Blackmail there was a solution...Ondra s voice was dubbed over by an English
actress named Joan Barry. By doing this voice over the film could remain a talkie and they would
not have to re film. The film also was still using the synchronized sound so it was not as perfect as
later techniques of putting sound to film.
The film is about a young woman, Alice, who makes a bad character judgement about a stranger
she meets. She is invited to the studio of a sketchy looking artist who would like her to pose for
him, or so she thinks that is his intention. His true intention, however, is to sleep with her.
Ultimately she has to fight off his unwanted attention and goes as far as killing him, in true
Hitchcock fashion, with a knife. This murder lands her in a spiral of intrigue as she is caught
between her boyfriend who is an investigating detective and a person who is blackmailing her.
Alice wants to turn herself in, but if she did that she d have to explain why she had put herself in
such a position.
Within this film is the typical Hitchcock story that the character wants to tell the police what has
happened but they just can not do it. They know they d never be believed so they must set out to
defend themselves. This occurs in The 39 Steps , a film that will be focused on following this film,
as well.

Examples Of Realism In The Chronical Of A Death Foretold
Calvino skilfully uses Magical Realism to bring out the relationship between a book and its reader.
He exaggerates circumstances, without straying from the realm of possibility/reality. This adds a
certain fictional quality to the everyday process of reading.
It has been said that the narrative technique is the soul of the novel. Calvino s novel is the perfect
example of this. He uses the forms of narration in this novel as tools to convey his message. He
uses the experimental form to pique our curiosity and retain our attention, thus reviving our love for
reading. He uses the second person narrative to involve us and to present his message directly to us.

The Vanquished Auguste Rodin Essay
Auguste Rodin was born in Paris in on November 12, 1840. He was born into a poor family and
his father was a policeman. Although he was a talented artist as a teenager, he lacked
encouragement which made him choose a different career. Rodin worked as a bricklayer for 20
years. Then he went to Italy and during his stay he found inspiration there. On his return to Paris,
he sculpted his first major piece, The Age of Bronze , originally named The Vanquished . Rodin
said that, Much as I love the Greeks, there is one thing I love more and that is nature. (AMA 130).
This is very true of his sculptures. Although there is the presence of a body you can see the true
nature of emotion through it.
School was hard for Rodin because he had a hard time reading, but he took interest in drawing. He

McDonalds focuses of four major pricing strategies: product line, promotional, penetration, and

lines (McDonald s Pricing Strategies). Economic conditions may change rapidly, thus warranting
change in the product or the product line. During the Asian currency crisis, McDonald s replaced
french fries with rice in its Indonesian restaurants due to the cost considerations. With the collapse
of the local rupiah, potatoes, the only ingredient McDonald s imports to Indonesia, quintupled in
price. In addition, a new rice and egg dish was introduced to maintain as many customers as
possible the economic hardship (International Marketing. 9th edition pg.335). In order to appeal to
the local demographic, international marketers must make sure products do not contain ingredients
that might be in violation of legal requirements or religious or social customs. Since Indonesia is in
a Muslim country, McDonalds Maharaja Mac is made with non beef products (International
Marketing. 9th edition pg. 336).

The New University Essay
The issue of the New University that I am analyzing was published on September 17, 2001. My
argument is that UCI consists of a magnanimous community in times of peril, hardship, and
persecution. The abounding professional aid available on campus provides a healthy recovery in
times of difficulty. Whether students decide to find assistance from doctors, professors,
counselors, friends and family, UCI has a mass variety of people to talk to in order for guidance.
The tragedy of the twin tower bombings sparked a new situation for people around the country.
Since experiencing such a large attack on home soil for the first time, many students had no plan
of action, the best response as said by Dr. James Cones is, people [should] get... Show more content

Those ideals are found right here at UCI. Hatred is everywhere. It is natural to start blaming and
pointing fingers to specific groups of people. The Muslim community was no exception and was
awaken to such bias. However, 9/11 was not the first time such tensions occurred. In October of
year 2000, there was a heated debate amongst Jewish, Israeli, Palestinian and Muslim students
during a peaceful protest against the discord in the Middle East (Santos 18) on campus. Many were
reminded of this protest as soon as the catastrophe in New York happened. Muslims tried to explain
that those who caused the event were not representing the entire, large Muslim community in the
world. Those Muslims are extremists, not UCI students. In order to overturn the hate, the
supportive community at UCI reminded those short fused people the definition of being an
American. Not only that, UCI created workshops for high schools to implement a way to
discourage any types of racism or acrimonious actions meant to be destructive toward all Muslims.
The Declaration of Independence states our Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness guaranteeing
everyone s unalienable rights which are protected by the government such as our basic freedoms in
the first amendment. All over the UCI campus and New U article, patriotic images were placed.
The numerous large American flags allowed students to be reminded of such American ideals and

I Am A Proud Aunt Of A 2-Year Old Beautiful Baby Girl.Her
I am a proud aunt of a 2 year old beautiful baby girl. Her name is Julianna Rasberry. Right now,
she currently attends A Mother s Heart Daycare facility. Last week, Julianna had a pretty tough
week. On Monday, she came home with scratches all over her face. Her teacher explained to me
that one incident occurred in the playroom area earlier that morning, after Julianna had been
dropped off. All of the kids gathered in the big playroom that morning, when their parents dropped
them off. So, her teacher was not able to explain one of the scratches on her face. The other two
scratches occurred in the classroom that day. The teacher stated that Julianna had hit one of her
classmates in the face, as the little girl was trying to sit in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These elements are being able to listen to the opinions of others, even when their opinions differ
from her s and having a sense of self respect. The first strategy that I would recommend would be
to incorporate Julianna within the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) meetings. I know that
it would be a challenge for a 2 year old to sit through the whole entire meeting, so I would have
her present for the first five minutes, at the beginning of the meeting and then would have her
sent back to play with her classmates. This would help to make her aware of the fact that her
teacher and I do communicate regarding her academic and behavioral performance. It may also
make her aware of the fact that her behavior is being recorded/kept track of and will not be
tolerated. This strategy will allow her to work on listening to other people s opinions and self
respect. Another strategy that could be used is for her teacher to make note of her behavior on her
daily classroom report form that is sent home with her each day. This can be reviewed by Julianna
s parents and with Julianna at home, so that she knows that her parents know what is going on at
school. Time out is another strategy that should be incorporated within the classroom setting. This
will not only help to immediately address the inappropriate behavior, but it will also help Julianna
to work on her listening skills and allow her time to think about what she

Schools And Classrooms Are Those With Special Needs
A1. One of the major diversity groups in this country in schools/classrooms are those with special
needs. You are probably guaranteed to have at least two kids in your class that suffer from learning
disabilities or disabilities in general. These students need special attention, from their curriculum to
the treatment of their peers. Special educationstudents are spending more time in the classroom,
not just for educational purposes but for social purposes as well. Challenges that teachers face
with these students is making sure that they are included in the classroom on a day to day basis,
and that they are adjusting curriculum to suit the child s needs. More times than not the child will
get the same work as other students and it would be worked on either at the child s pace and
graded accordingly, or taken to their resource classrooms to work on it with their resource teachers.
Challenges that special education students face are not being able to understand or keep up with
the work in the classroom. They often feel separated from their peers or maybe even not being
accepted by their peers. The challenges they face such as wheel chairs, crutches etc may keep them
at a slower pace than the other students or get in the way when student are moving around the
classroom. They often are not with their peers, but separated into smaller classes so they are not as
socially excepted as other students.
Another major group of students that are in a classroom are those of different

Role Of Financial Aid In Education
How Does Financial Aid Work?
Financial aid is a sensational implement for students all around the world. It is done in several
different ways and benefits the lives of an abundance of people. Different levels of government
work together to fund students by providing programs like FAFSA, for example. The federal
government ensures the cooperation of state and local governments by providing funds to help
them implement important programs. FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
It can be assembled yearly by current and incoming college students in the United States to
determine their eligibility for student financial aid. This program gives students who are not able

The Department s mission is to advocate the students accomplishments and preparation for
competitiveness all around the world by strengthening educational preeminence and guaranteeing
fair entrance. The Department of education also works with several councils to guarantee education
for kids who are homeless called the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness. They
work with federal partners to allow those students to have a proper education as well.
At Collin College varying levels of government work in conjunction to give students who don t have
the chance the opportunity for a cheaper way to continue their education. Collin College is a local
way that students get funded but it still uses the involvement of the government to get ahold of the
funds. Whether if it s through grants or loans, a student still gets an education that is more cost
efficient than most other places. This community college is a great way for students to further their
education no matter what circumstance they might be in.
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board(THECB) is also a program that works together to
fund students in higher education but it is involved with the state. The State of Texas allocates the
superiority of sponsoring state agencies and institutions of higher education through a General

Geothermal Well Case Study
A geothermal well was built beneath the Park Stradley, Seibert, and Smith Steeb dorms on south
campus of The Ohio State University. The project was put on by the Office of Student Life as
part of their South High Rise Project which took place before the 2012 school year. The
geothermal system was designed to sustain several hundred refrigeration tons of heat from the
ground and is currently not being used to capacity to heat the previously stated droms on south
campus. Due to a surplus in the system, Student Life would like to know if running piping to the
Union and/or Drinko Hall would have a reasonable return on investment. Objective The objective is
to determine if the addition of heating water pipes to the Union and/or Drinko Hall... Show more

The average usage assumption is based on the same number of people using the buildings. It
could increase if more people used the buildings, or decrease if they are used less. Taking people
into account by looking at expected incoming class size could give an alternate assumption. Other
economic factors that could increase costs on the project is inflation, maintenance cost, and a
longer than expected life of project, all of which would make the project have a lower return on
investment. All of these assumptions, if changed, can change the predicted MARR, and should be
considered when making the final calculations. Non Economic/ Financial Factors currently editing
After analyzing the economic factors, some non economic factors should also be considered in this
observation of the geothermal well. Installation of the piping could affect the movement of traffic
along the roads in that area and cause traffic jams. During the construction, some campus roads
would need to be closed and vehicles would be detoured to the main roads such as High Street,
which could delay students and faculty commuting to and from campus. Besides that, the Union is
a center of attraction at Ohio State as it has many dining venues, student services, and many large
halls for events and parking garages that are in high use. At the peak

Rheumatology-Personal Narrative
Ever since I was 9, I ve had bone and joint pains and when I finally went to rheumatology about it,
the doctor ordered a series of tests. I was laying on the table getting a pelvic MRI at Children s
Hospital of Philadelphia. I thought I was gonna finally get a diagnosis as to why my bones were
hurting. Instead, I was diagnosed with a huge ovarian cyst that needed to be surgically removed.
My mother and I had finally gotten home from getting the MRI of my pelvis. I went downstairs in
the basement to watch TV and my mother went upstairs to shower, then lie in bed. A few hours
later, my mother came downstairs to tell me that the hospital called her to tell her what they saw

questions for identification purposes. Later, my two aunts came into the room. A few minutes
later, my surgeon walked in as well to tell me that she d come back in about twenty minutes to
wheel me away to the operating table. This made it even more surreal and made me even more
anxious. My surgeon, Dr. Mainigi came back into the room with two other doctors and she told
me that it was time for me to be wheeled away. I said my I love you s to my family as one of the
male doctors wheeled me away. He was asking me questions, trying to ease my nerves a little bit.
We finally reached the operating room. I transferred from the hospital bed to the operating table.

Short Story Of A Rebel
My mother always told me one bad apple can spoil the whole tree. Your parents can tell you who is
real and who is fake before you can. Once you get mixed up with the wrong crowd, people start to

Because that s exactly what happened to me. Choose your friends wisely because if not, their

light? I have, when I was a junior in high school, my perspective on people changed dramatically.

Sun Tzu s The Art of War
The translation of the Sun Tzu: The Art of War ancient Chinese text has been given by many
different writers. Samuel B. Griffith, Brigadier General, retired, U.S. Marine Corps; is a proven
strategist that studied the English commandoes war fighting skills as a Captain. As a Major, Griffith
was hand picked to serve as Executive Officer under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Merritt
Edson of the 1st Raider Battalion, one of the battalions that perfected the amphibious landings
during World War II. Samuel B. Griffith gives his in depth study on Sun Tzu: The Art of War and

Griffith compares these scholars to the likes of Plutarch and lists the penalties for those giving bad
advice and the rewards for those that were talented. The author of The Art of War was one such
author, and although the author is still in question his works were successful enough to survive the
ages.
The fourth chapter, War in Sun Tzu s Age, gives a brief historical description of how war was
conducted prior to 500 B.C., which was mostly considered civilized and with mutual respect. But
during the era of Sun Tzu, war had become ferocious and Griffith shares an account of three
thousand condemned men forced to commit suicide by cutting their own throat. (p. 33) The more
brutal warring became; the more insight of successful combating was sought. Sun Tzu s doctrine
includes the soldiers of the time with the armies composed of swordsmen, archers, spearmen,
crossbowmen, and chariots who found themselves using techniques of tactical reconnaissance, to
observation, flank patrolling, and security issues. (pp. 36, 38)
Sun Tzu on War, chapter five, is Griffith s description of Sun Tzu s recommendations in strategy
for winning battles. The best way to win a battle is by not having to fight it at all, and when a war
has to be conducted it should be applied so that victory was gained

Nobody was smarter than anybody else. Nobody was better looking than anybody else. Nobody

Marketing Strategies For The Advertising
The Persuaders looked different advertising strategies on how to effectively reach consumers. In a
time when the price of an advertisement is going up, but the effectiveness of reaching the
consumers is going down advertisers are left trying to figure out a way to reach consumers. This
film looked at different strategies that were used in the past, and strategies that are currently being
used to break through the clutter. Clutter refers to the amount of advertisinga consumer is exposed
to on a daily basis. The key to success as this film points out, is to break through that clutter and
brand advertisements better than the competitor, while appealing to the consumer. Overall, this
film looked at different areas of how advertising use to be about choice words, such as better
brighter tougher . Then some companies decided to target an emotional appeal to the consumer.
For example, the film uses the airline Song to specifically look at targeting the needs of women.
The commercial that was constructed showed used an emotional appeal before showing different
services that Song uses. Finally, the video talked about how the consumer wants to have a feeling
of entitlement and being in charge. If an advertiser wants to be successful in this sense they need
to make the consumer feel like the advertisement is specifically targeted to them. Overall, if a
company wants to make good use of their advertising budget, they need to keep up with the new
demands and changes in the behavior

  • 2. A Brief Note On Shale Gas And Natural Gas Shale gas is a natural gas that can be extracted from the fabric of shale rocks by means of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking. There is controversy surrounding this extraction process, as in the process of building facilities in which gases are extracted, people are made aware of the hazards that are involved both with building the site of extraction and with extracting the gas itself. This essay aims to assess the extent to which these hazards can affect those residing in Lancashire. Throughout the course of human history, conventional natural gas deposits have been the easiest to extract from formations below the surface. These conventional deposits cannot last forever and are declining in number, meaning that people are pushed to search for alternative sources whilst increasing the price of the natural gas that is currently available (Berman, 2016). Fortunately, the search for alternative sources for natural gas has generally been positive; recent utilisation of unconventional gas deposits in the US which have led to them becoming the US s primary source of indigenous gas production (Korn, 2010: 5). As humans advance technologically and steadily improve their geological knowledge, the percentage of unconventional gas sources that make up power supplies continue to grow. In 2010, 47% of the UK s electricity was produced by burning natural gas. In comparison 28% of the electricity the UK had produced in 2010 was from burning coal, 16% from nuclear reactors and 7% from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Binary Oppositions The difference of characters in Roald Dahl s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory emphasizes the binary oppositions excitement and calm through the verbs in which the characters Charlie and Willy Wonka explain. Nodelman and Reimer analyze binary oppositions in children s literature as it define[s] some of the most central thematic concerns of a surprising amount of children s literature (Nodelman and Reimer 199). Specifically, in the chapter 28 of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Dahl juxtaposes Willy Wonka from Charlie through the oppositions: excitement and calm. As Risk Management Program for a Financial Institution As time has shown, financial institutions undertake an abundance of uncertainty causing unpredictable risk consequences. • 5. Brain Observation On the 12 of March of 2016 I went to McAllen International Museum of Arts Science (IMAS) to attend an exposition about the brain. The exposition covered the entire museum, especially one big room where there were many interactive activities. Although the room was full of people (mostly kids), I had the opportunity to experience some of the activities. These activities were all related to the brainand the way it reacted to certain situations. Each activity covered a different aspect of the brain, for example, there was one activity in which the participant had to catch a ruler with two fingers, the first time you try it with your strong hand(in my case the right hand), and the second time, with the hand that it is used the least. These puzzles challenge the brain and test out our cognitive abilities, the cognitive abilities are more about how we function, these abilities help us achieve complex and easy task of the everyday life. There are many cognitive abilities and they vary depending on what part of the brain you are using. Naturally, as the time passes by and we grow older our cognitive abilities start to decline little by little especially if they are not used often but there are many options that help to prevent a fast decline on the abilities. Overall I had a very good time at the museum, the time went fast by and I was able to learn a lot of how my brain functions. A great thing was that it not only covered brain function but also food and the calories which was also very informative. I think it was especially good that the activities were very interactive, when I went to the museum I was expecting a 3 hour long speech about the brain and its functions, but it turned out to be a great, fun, hands on learning experience which I enjoyed very ... My best friend would probably be Bo Mcnulty. I have known him since I was in first grade . I will be telling you why me and Bo are best friends. Me and Bo grew up together practically, when we were little we played with the same toys, played the same games, and played with the same type of people. We would always think of something dumb to do on the weekends or whenever I was at his house or he was at mine. We used to play something called airsoft and I think us playing that all the time had something to deal with why we are such good friends. Bo has property behind his house so every time... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Almost every week I would be at his house or he would be at mine. We have started to not play airsoft as much and turned towards football, xbox one, and other games/sports like that. Normally when we would play football we would have more than just us two unless we were playing catch or a game like that. We would also ride the four wheeler all the time now, but I recently got pulled over on the four wheeler for driving on the road (it s the only way to get to the woods) so now we don t ride it to often now. Some may ask why not someone else and my answer to that question is, I don t have someone else, and when I mean someone else I mean more than one person. I have many friends that do that same stuff with me, but the reason that he is my best friend is because he has been here since the beginning. When I was in first grade and didn t have too many friends I met Bo,and after I met him I started to meet my other best friends like Kayden, Ethan, Jaxson, Shannon, and many other people that have changed my life forever. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For a large, established business like the Virgin group it is recommended that an MBO approach be utilised in the establishment of goals and objectives for succession plans. In this management system, specific performance goals are jointly determined by employees and their managers, progress towards accomplishing these goals is periodically reviewed, and rewards are allocated on the basis of this progress (Robbins et. al., 2009). This method is ideal for creating goals and objectives for succession plans as by incorporating the entire company as part of the process they are preparing the organisation for a strategic change. An MBO approach requires participation from all members of a business. It has been proven through recent studies that best practice organizations effectively integrate leadership development and succession planning systems by fully utilizing managerial personnel in the creation of succession plans (Groves, 2008).
  • 8. As mentioned in the case study, the Virgin Group is made up of multiple independent businesses and consequently possesses different management styles and different expectations. Therefore, for the MBO method to be successful for the group, leaders from each of these independent businesses along with Richard Branson will need to be participative in the establishment of goals and objectives. The company would have to be prudent in using this method as studies have found this process to be unsuccessful when top management have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In our readings, we learned that many woman report being unhappy with their bodies even at a young age. I tend to be persuaded to use products that promise a slimmer body or more beautiful skin. I do not necessarily want to be model thin, but I like to look healthy. Also, products that can save me money are a God send because I am a college student who needs to save every penny possible. To conclude, after watching ads for over two hours I have learned that advertising is an effective method of persuasion. I noticed that several ads applied multiple appeals to persuade viewers to buy their products. I also noticed that several techniques were applied to make the viewer more interested in products. • 10. Promoting A New Rice Wine To promote a new rice wine I have created a 60 second commercial where the enlightened Zen master IkkyЕ« uses the five basic categories of sabi, wabi, aware, yugen, and ma to demonstrate the kosher of this new product. IkkyЕ« was used due to his notoriety for his infusion of Japanese art and literature with Zen attitudes and ideals. IkkyЕ« s significance and understanding of Zen culture made him the perfect candidate to conduct a teaceremony to demonstrate the quality and spiritualness of the new rice wine. The commercial will begin with a panning shot of a rock pathway leading to a teahouse. In the background of the panning shot will be the rock garden that faces east. The tea ceremony will be taking place at sunrise so that the sun will be rising over the rock garden. During this shot, the sonorous and melancholy chirping of birds will be used to evoke a peaceful but sad emotion. Together the birds and sun will symbolize the beautiful but fragile and ephemeral nature of life, whereby the birds enchanting songs at the start of the day will be silenced by the sun s setting at the end of the day. The panning shot will end at the doorframe and the camera shot will assume an angle from which the viewer will feel that he/she is the one taking part in the tea ceremony. • 11. The Pros And Cons Of Postal Service Hence, they try to get involved in generating revenue by infringing on net neutrality principles. They prioritize data packets from certain sites, which are ready to pay for this service. For an analogy, postal service officials don t read the letters they are delivering. For a common service, is it possible for them to read the letter and decide if they are going to deliver the packet or not? Is it ethical for a postman to priorities a mail delivery by taking bribe from the sender? For another analogy, roads treat all commuters equally. They don t charge differentially based on what vehicles are carrying or what the destination is. Roads or vehicle registration authority may charge more for bigger vehicles since they damage the roads more. But going by the same analogy, ISPs can charge differently to heavy usage customers. By no means they have the right to inspect the data internet packets. Another analogy is of electricity service. Power distribution authority doesn t charge variably by looking into what people are using the energy for. They may charge variably based on amount of energy usage. The same can be done by ISPs to increase revenue or control congestion. They can charge more to the people for consuming more data thus managing congestion and increasing profitability. Competition is the mother of invention. By prioritizing data packets coming from certain sites, ISPs are hindering the competition. New market players generally do not have a budget to pay ISPs for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The human body is a fascinating organism with a multiplicity of complex systems working together to ensure the health of the individual. Join us as we take a Fantastic Voyage through our healthy, 55 year old male subject to witness how nutrients are ingested and passed through the body. During this journey, we will pass through the digestive, circulatory, and digestive systems to better understand how the body receives nutrients, how they are broken down, and finally, how they are expelled from the body. Our journey will begin as we enter our male subject s body through his food, in this case, a sumptuous hamburger, crispy french fries, and a mug of frothy root beer. We will begin our journey through the human body by entering the test subject through the digestive system, which begins with the mouth. As we are quickly inhaled by our ravenous subject, notice how mastication enables food to be broken down by saliva and the simultaneous mashing and gnawing of teeth. Moving from the front center of the subject s mouth to the back, you will notice the various types of teeth that include: two sets of incisors, a set of canines, a set of premolars, and a set of first and second molars (Thibodeau, 1992). During mastication, a clear substance known as salivary amylase is secreted to facilitate chewing and begin the digestive process. • 14. Drug And Alcohol Treatment Of Alcoholics Anonymous And... Twelve step programs are commonly used in drug and alcohol treatment. Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous both utilize the twelve steps, along with many other treatment centers. The twelve steps are used as a tool to stay sober and overcome addictions to substance abuse. The first step involves admitting one is powerless over the drug. It also involves admitting that due to the drug, one is no longer in control of his or her life. The second step is coming to the belief that there is a greater power that can restore one to sanity. The greater power can be anything from God to a higher power such as nature. The third step is making the decision to turn one s will and life over to the higher power. This is when an individual fully commits oneself to the belief in something greater than him or her self. The fourth step is a moral inventory of oneself. Many individuals make a list of all the wrongs he or she has done while in the fourth step. (Alcoholics Anonymous Publishing, 1981) The fifth step involves admitting to a higher power, oneself, and other people the exact nature of the offenses one has committed. The sixth step is preparing oneself to have a higher power remove the character defects. Asking the higher power to remove the deficiencies is step number seven. Step eight is making a list of the individuals harmed in one s addiction and preparing oneself to make amends with those people. This was the beginning of one of the bloodiest battles in all of history. From the outside of Gettysburg the Southern General James Pettigrew reported to his superiors that he had visited shops in Gettysburg in order to buy the shoes that his soldiers direly needed. By mid June, all of these divisions were on the move North to the North. During their travel up North, they did have a lot of random battles with Northern troops, however they continued on their way almost steamrolling over all the Northern troops. On June 21, however one of the divisions that was led by General Ewell, entered into Chambersburg Pennsylvania. A few days later, the other two divisions arrived in Pennsylvania. They took food and horses from the farms that scattered around the countryside. One of the Confederate soldiers wrote to his wife explaining that they were doing all of this to pay back these people for some of the damage that they have done us even though we are not doing them half as bad as they have done us. The soldier added, We will have to fight here, and when it comes it will be the biggest on record. The Southern Confederate troops in Pennsylvania were somewhat scattered, however General Lee was not even worried about this. He felt safe, mainly because he believed that their enemy General Hooker s Union army had yet to cross over the Potomac River. Descriptive Essay On Home Away From Home Home Away From Home We wish you a merry Christmas, we wish you a merry Christmas, we wish you a merry Christmas, and a happy New Year...Hymns of the song, the tinkling sound of the bells, the sweet aroma of the marshmallows floating on the brewed hot chocolate, and the maple wood scented candlelight burning slightly as it s twitching from side to side creating a warm atmosphere. However, among this delightful setting stands a girl with medium length black hair in front of the class as she stands still in awe, speculating about the unfamiliar environment. Before her eyes, the people attracted her attention. She was standing before these people she s never been around before, and there are people she s only seen in movies, particularly Home Alone, Shaolin Soccer, and Miss Congeniality. People peer into each other s eyes as they pinpoint a peculiar face standing in front of the rows. She is dressed in long denim pants, a white tee with long sleeves, a pair of black old fashioned platform shoes, and a greyish backpack hung low on her back. On one of her elbows, she carries a light pink and white jacket, nervously holding tightly onto her wrist of the opposite hand. Abruptly, all students stand and line up near the door, which opens up to a cheerful adult in her early thirties wearing a white, fuzz lined red hat with a fluffy cotton ball at the tip. After mingling with her students, she leads us through the hallways into another room, filled with small desks and backpacks lying underneath. The adult approaches me with a warm smile, taking my hand into an embrace as she asks for my name. A slight nervousness reaches me, and I answer her question quietly. Then, she leads me to a desk and comes with a folder of papers, including a rectangular transparent pocket where my name is spelled inside on a white piece of paper. My name was one of the few words I recognized in this foreign language. I looked around subtly, noticing people of many different races interacting in joy, but my own heart yearned for home. Yes, there are some unexplainable medical mysteries, but the only time we ever hear of someone returning from the dead is in works of literature or art. The story is about Jesuswho died on the cross for sins of God s people and three days later rose from the dead in accordance with the scripture and God s word. • 19. Summary Of Ghosts Of Ole Miss Quint Swanberg Professor McCarthy Business Ethics 16 October 2015 Ghosts of Ole Miss Every higher institution of learning has their own set of myths and history. Some of them may be vaguely true and some may be highly influential. The history of the institution may have a negative effect on those who look to apply or be a part of the institution. The history of a place sets the epitome of future enrollees. Some of the ghosts that haunt any college may have an extremely negative impact on how they are viewed today. This negative perception of the university can lead to strong economic deficits. Throughout trying to combat negative concepts that are thrust upon an institution, they have resolved issues of ethics, violence and, to most importantly, boost cohesion and moral. Throughout this essay, I will be examining the effects of one of the most controversial university enrollments. James Meredith paved the way for African American acceptance into a historically all White University. No matter how much adversity Meredith would encounter, he would not give up or give in to institutional racism. The want to keep Ole Miss segregated by those there did not hinder his success. In an attempt to end racial segregation, the Supreme Court ordered the admittance of James Meredith to the campus. This action was a clear defiance of racial segregation. This resulted in an abundant amount of not only riots but also casualties. Meredith paved the way for other African Americans ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Assessment Of An Best Assessment For Diane Essay Assessment Plan Assessment Question In order to provide the best assessment for Diane, we as a team need to focus on our assessment question as follows: Who is Diane as a person, and what are her unmet needs in her daily life, especially in regards to her current mode of communication and her interactions with family/partners; additionally, are there any barriers currently halting progress? It is vital that Diane s best interests are always on the foreground; her own priorities and her own desires will lead our assessment into future interventions. We are able to take apart the above question in four steps in order ascertain why this is a valid goal to attain for Diane. First, it is important to assess Diane s overall unmet needs. In understanding one s unmet needs, we are able to assist Diane in engaging in her own interactions and activities in her daily life (Beukelman Mirenda, 2013, p. 8). Research has shown that children and young adults with cerebral palsy are at risk for having a high amount of unmet needs, especially in relation to health care (Jackson, Krishnaswami, McPheeters, 2011; Nieuwenhuijse et al., 2007). As health care professionals, we need to be aware of Diane s unmet needs in order to identify her own personal goals and skills in order to plan an accurate model of intervention. • 29. Analysis Of Elegy Written In A Country Churchyard Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard is a poem by Thomas Gray which was first published in 1751. The origins of the poem are unknown, but it was somewhat inspired by Gray s thoughts of the death of the poet Richard West in 1742. The poem presents the argument that the remembrance of death can be good and bad. The narrator finds comfort in thinking about the lives once lived by the people buried in the churchyard. The poem is not just about death, it is about how people are remembered after they have died. In the first stanza of the poem we see the first metaphor in the poem. Line one, The curfew tolls the knell of parting day , is a metaphor for death because a knell is a bell that rings when someone dies. The author could be saying that the day is dying, or ending, because the curfew is a bell that rings at the end of the day. In line two, the author replaces the word over with o er in order to make the number of syllables fit the iambic pentameter. In the second stanza, the author uses alliteration to show how quiet and peaceful the churchyard is by saying And all the air a solemn stillness holds (line 6). The author also uses personification to talk about the the bells, by saying they are drowsy (line 8). The use of personification is continued into the third stanza. The speaker does not say that the owl is hooting, instead he states that the owl is moping and complaining (line 10), which is something that a human would do, and not an owl. In stanza 4, the speaker is looking over the graves and saying that this is where the ancestors of the town are buried. He describes them as rude , but when this poem was written, rude didn t mean impolite, it meant someone from the country or someone who was unsophisticated. The people in the graves were most likely farmers or country men. In stanza 5, the speaker clearly states that the ancestors that are in the graves are dead and are never going to wake up. He lists things that would normally wake a person up, such as the smell of the breeze first thing in the morning, the sound of birds tweeting, and the sound of a roosters cock a doodle do or the sound of a horn being blown. The next stanza focuses on the pleasures that the dead ancestors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. The Vanquished Auguste Rodin Essay Auguste Rodin was born in Paris in on November 12, 1840. He was born into a poor family and his father was a policeman. Although he was a talented artist as a teenager, he lacked encouragement which made him choose a different career. Rodin worked as a bricklayer for 20 years. Then he went to Italy and during his stay he found inspiration there. On his return to Paris, he sculpted his first major piece, The Age of Bronze , originally named The Vanquished . Rodin said that, Much as I love the Greeks, there is one thing I love more and that is nature. (AMA 130). This is very true of his sculptures. Although there is the presence of a body you can see the true nature of emotion through it. School was hard for Rodin because he had a hard time reading, but he took interest in drawing. He started taking art classes when he turned 13. This is when students and teachers gave him no recognition on his art and Rodin started doubting himself. At 17 years old, he applied ... Rodin was inspired so much by these artists that he made his first major piece, The Vanquished . It was made in 1876 and stands at six feet tall, making it a life size sculptureof a nude man. This sculpture showed his attention to such detail that when people came to see this sculpture they did not like how real it looked. People rumored that it was a fake sculpture. In the 1800 s art had to be made for a reason and it had to have a theme. It does not represent most art from that time that had to with mythology. With its lack of purpose critics did not see The Vanquished as real art. All of the criticisms made him change the name to The Age of Bronze . This also led to changing his style from something realistic to more naturalistic abstracted ideas. During the Asian currency crisis, McDonald s replaced french fries with rice in its Indonesian restaurants due to the cost considerations. With the collapse of the local rupiah, potatoes, the only ingredient McDonald s imports to Indonesia, quintupled in price. In addition, a new rice and egg dish was introduced to maintain as many customers as possible the economic hardship (International Marketing. 9th edition pg.335). My argument is that UCI consists of a magnanimous community in times of peril, hardship, and persecution. The abounding professional aid available on campus provides a healthy recovery in times of difficulty. Whether students decide to find assistance from doctors, professors, counselors, friends and family, UCI has a mass variety of people to talk to in order for guidance. The Muslim community was no exception and was awaken to such bias. However, 9/11 was not the first time such tensions occurred. In October of year 2000, there was a heated debate amongst Jewish, Israeli, Palestinian and Muslim students during a peaceful protest against the discord in the Middle East (Santos 18) on campus. Many were reminded of this protest as soon as the catastrophe in New York happened. Muslims tried to explain that those who caused the event were not representing the entire, large Muslim community in the world. Those Muslims are extremists, not UCI students. In order to overturn the hate, the supportive community at UCI reminded those short fused people the definition of being an American. Not only that, UCI created workshops for high schools to implement a way to discourage any types of racism or acrimonious actions meant to be destructive toward all Muslims. The Declaration of Independence states our Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness guaranteeing everyone s unalienable rights which are protected by the government such as our basic freedoms in the first amendment. The first strategy that I would recommend would be to incorporate Julianna within the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) meetings. I know that it would be a challenge for a 2 year old to sit through the whole entire meeting, so I would have her present for the first five minutes, at the beginning of the meeting and then would have her sent back to play with her classmates. This would help to make her aware of the fact that her teacher and I do communicate regarding her academic and behavioral performance. It may also make her aware of the fact that her behavior is being recorded/kept track of and will not be tolerated. This strategy will allow her to work on listening to other people s opinions and self respect. Another strategy that could be used is for her teacher to make note of her behavior on her daily classroom report form that is sent home with her each day. This can be reviewed by Julianna s parents and with Julianna at home, so that she knows that her parents know what is going on at school. Time out is another strategy that should be incorporated within the classroom setting.
