The Death Penalty Of Indonesia
INTRODUCTION
Indonesia is by far the largest Southeast Asian nation, both in population and land area with the
majority of the population, Muslim (OMF International, n.d). Indonesia, also has one of the strictest
laws regarding drug offences and has demonstrated to not be afraid or be persuaded by neighboring
states not to enforce it (Aquino, n.d). Eight out of the eleven countries within Southeast Asia still
retain the death penalty for drug related offences in which Indonesia is the only country within
Southeast Asia that still carries out its executions by firing squad (Death Penalty Information Centre,
2013) (see Table 1). The death penalty was extended to include drug offences and only introduced into
Indonesian law in 1997 (Berman, 2013). However, Indonesia continues to enforce this penalty in the
wake of the 2013 execution of a Malawian national becoming the first execution in some years (see
Table 2) (Delaney, 2013, ¶23).

Analysis Of The Century Quilt
Quilts are traditionally thought of as precious antiques that illustrate rich history and imagery. Their
fabric is laced with beautiful patterns accounting tales of the past that older generations with to
preserve. In Marilyn Nelson Waniek s poem, The Century Quilt, Nelson employs structure, vivid
imagery, and a fanciful tone to illustrate how a family quilt is used to connect generations with one
another with this precious family heirloom.
Waniek s choice of structure for this particular poem is unique in that it alternates between short
phrases and winded, descriptive lines. This gives the poem the child like atmosphere that Waniek was
intending to illustrate. It is evident that the author is an older individual who is reflecting on both their
life and the lives of those who had used the quilt prior. Thus, the alternating between short and long
phrases truly captures the essence of childlike excitement in that an individual is excited ... Show more

Each square holding a sweet gum leaf and its pattern of leaves definitely gives the impression that this
quilt is a magnificent and encompassing tree. Trees are traditionally thought of as old and full of
meaning, having many branches and leaves stemming from the same trunk. This parallels the meaning
of the quilt to the individual since it is a tool by which the individual can relate and think of those, in
his family, who may have also taken comfort and enjoyed the whimsical essence of this tree.
Additionally, this quilt allows for the individual to fantasize about the days of those who used the
blanket before: his [gentle] mother and [proud] father. He is able to imagine their lives with fanciful
imagery while also questioning who will take the blanket next, perhaps a son, the speaker says. This
furthers the quilt s comparison to a magnificent tree in that the quilt is passed down generation to
generation through a family

A Research Study On Selecting A Committee
Selecting a committee is a very important step in the process of preparing for a dissertation. As the
researcher engage in the process and in conjunction with the committee chair and members the goal
will be to define the research topic, develop the researchers proposal and engage in the process of
drafting while critiquing the entire research in an attempt to compose and ensure the researcher
completes his or her dissertation.
Scholars Wu and Beaunae (2014) suggests, the process of finishing a doctoral dissertation is a process
that requires the researcher to have dedication, make many life altering sacrifices as they engage in
multiple theoretical, practical, supervisory and committee team challenges. As I embark on this
daunting journey there have been several professors that have positively impacted my ability to stay
the course and committee to this process. A special thanks goes to professor Lin, Jameson and
Hickman. All three have been influential in my research development as they have fostered an ethical
learning environment that has strengthened my desire and dedication to complete this doctoral
dissertation journey. Scholars Schopfel and Prost (2013) suggests the selection and roles of the
dissertation committee members are critical. The committee chair has broad decision making powers
throughout the process as he or she approves the topic, the consultation process and every chapter and
line within. Each member thereafter should and are often considered

Piracy In The United States
Piracy first and foremost is an attempt to copy or make use of what was not originally produced by the
individual without right permission or authorization by the sole owner of this product for profitable

User Interface And Its Usability
User Interface and its usability Brief/Introduction User interface means the interaction between a user
and a computer system and how well they co operate and understand each other and make it satisfying
for the users to use the system. One main function for the user interface usability is to have
characteristics. In this main function, there are eight characteristics to user interface usability and they
are clear, concise, familiar, responsive, consistent, attractive, efficient and forgiving. Clear The word
clear is very important on the user interface. It means that it needs to be easy for the user to use the

On January 30,1882, Roosevelt was born in New York as the only child of James and Sara

How Leadership Style Can Affect Coaching
Coaching competencies are needed in the growing industry around the world, especially for leadership
development. According to Zenger and Stinnett (2006), about 70% of formal leadership development
programs in organizations have some different forms of coaching. This reveals that coaching is
becoming a World Wide phenomenon. As a result of this popularity, many coaching competencies,
models, tools and training have appeared. For instance, effective coaching requires the coach to have
good communication skill, client motivation, self management, and technical skill. These skills enable

There is a need to consider the personal credibility of the coach, education, professional background,
experience, and expertise. To encourage a professional service, the coach should ensure that all
business materials such as cards send a strong consistent message to their potential clients. This
professionalism should also be extended to the dress code of the coach. For the organization, the
selection process of the coaches should involve stringent quality criteria. Involvement of the coach:
The coach should have the ability to develop an atmosphere of trust in the coaching sessions. Coaches
need to ensure that they have an intrinsic strong motivation for the coaching work. In my opinion, a
genuine interest in the client is significant to building a good coaching relationship. For the
organizations, coaches should be made to attend an interview process prior to any coaching
assignments. The interview gives the opportunity for both sides to learn about each other and decide
whether a working relationship can develop. Clarity and goals: The process and conduct of a coaching
program are important to the positive outcome. It involves roles, methods, and actions during the
coaching process (Schmidt, 2003). The coaches need to invest time at the beginning of any coaching
assignment in order to establish good working relationship with the client. The coach needs to be

The Fast Food Industry Has Grown Over The Past Years, And
The fast food industry has grown over the past years, and now a new type of food service has arise in
the form of gas stations. Wawa and Sheetz are these new dominators, who strive on providing quick
service and great food. Since these are success stories, other gas stations have tried to replicate these
companies but have not struck the consumer as much as Wawa and Sheetz. The consumer fanbase for
each company is extreme. Fans of Wawa have been known to get the logo tattooed on their biceps, and
fans of Sheetz call themselves sheetzfreaks and sometimes linger on the vicinity into the early
morning hours. Both of these companies have excelled and this paper aims to examine why this has
occurred, particularly examining the PR practices of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, both companies have been able to combine these aspects which is attractive to many
consumers. Perhaps looking at the history of both companies can lead some insight to this
transformation. Sheetz was founded in 1952 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and began to spread out as
primarily convenience stores. In 1972 the company had expanded to seven to fourteen stores, and a
year later Sheetz added gasoline pumps. It was in 1995 that Sheetz began to introduce touchscreen
ordering and their food and beverage products, offering high quality food at a gas convenience store (
Our History ). Conversely, Wawa began in 1964 and was a food market, and added more food
products throughout the beginning years. The gas station aspect of the company was not introduced
until 1996, and chiefly the company provided a deli and convenience store service. Touchscreens were
installed in 2002, and the company has continued to expand their food products while spreading along
the east coast ( Wawa: 50 Years Counting ). Interestingly, both companies started as food based and
moved to provide other services over time. This is perhaps why the companies have a passion for
serving quality food, since it is in their roots. This is common in the fast food industry, and Sheetz and
Wawa have taken this service to a new level.
Fast food providers are widespread and have large populations who flock to them. However, since
Sheetz and Wawa are more condense in their spread

Alfred Hitchcock Use Of Suspense Essay
Alfred Hitchcock uses omission to set up suspense and a feeling of skepticism for the viewer.
Lighting, dialogue, and distance all are tools Hitchcock employs to aid in his omission of certain
details. The main asset Hitchcock exploits is the distance L.B. Jeffries is trapped at in comparison to
where the real drama takes place for much of the film. This distance leaves the viewer feeling
perturbed.
Hitchcock utilizes the distance between Jeffries s window, through which most of the film is shot, and
the actions taking place in the apartments all the way across the courtyard to hide the dialogue
between the characters. Jeffries is unable to leave his apartment and since the camera does not either,
the viewer is rendered just as impotent as him. Hitchcock makes it clear that Mr. Thorwald is on the
phone and from the attention drawn to him the viewer is led to believe that what he is saying could
lead to the discovery of what happened to his wife. The aspect of this scene that adds suspense is the
dark lighting making it impossible to see what he is saying. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Another consequence of Jeffries limited mobility is the paucity of sight. Hitchcock focuses in on
specific objects or moments implying their importance, but then gives no further information to the
viewer. When the men come to move the trunk the only information given is its relative size, the
caution with which it was packed, and Mr. Thorwald s desire to have it taken from his home.
Hitchcock omits what is in the trunk or where it is going. The viewer is then left to their imagination
to decide what it could possibly contain. Another aspect of the film omitted by limited sight is what is
happening with Mrs. Thorwald s jewelry. The viewer is able to see that the jewelry was left behind,
but any indication of what this actually means is left up in the

The Nature Of Free Will Essay
1 Introduction
Are we free? All of us have a clear sense that we are free. We believe that our decisions are wholly our
own, a result of our own reasoning and analysis. According to David Hume, the question of the nature
of free will is the most contentious question of metaphysics. If Hume is correct, understanding of free
will is a complex task indeed. At best to say that an agent has free will is to say that the agent has the
ability and power to choose his or her course of action without constraint.
What is so important about whether or not an agent has free will? Perhaps because free will is related
to freedom of action and moral responsibility. If actions are a result of rational analysis, then we see
that free action depends on free will. At best to say that an agent acted freely is to say that the agent
successfully carried out a free choice. Different philosophers have offered similar accounts of
freedom. Thomas Hobbes said A free agent is he that can do as he will, and forbear as he will, and that
liberty is the absence of external impediments. In An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding,
David Hume offered power of acting or of not acting, according to the determination of the will; that
is, if we choose to remain at rest, we may; if we choose to move, we also may. Now this hypothetical
liberty is universally allowed to belong to everyone, who is not a prisoner and in chains.
Nevertheless, one can argue that this methodology fails to address the distinction

In the recent years, the United States government has been enforcing stricter mandates on auto
manufacturers to create safer vehicles, and on construction companies to create safer roadways.

Generally speaking the items taken into account as vehicle speed, RPM, and throttle position as well
as many other parameters. More recently developers to begin using accelerometer and global
positional systems (GPS) to provide feedback to the driver (Jensen). Yet another critical component of
safe driving is the human vehicle interface (HVI), very similar to the human computer interface/
interaction (HCI). HVI is used to produce sounds, visual aids, and other forms of feedback such as the
haptic steering wheel to alert the vehicle operator of the roadway conditions (traffic, construction
environment, pedestrians). Since automobiles are operated by single individuals, the primary means of
receiving feedback are visual. Since the introduction of HVI the cost for real time control systems
decreases and the new safety features provide information that hopes to improve decision making
response time (Jensen).
The article describes three formats of in vehicle feedback; visual, haptic, and audio. Each of the three
formats to be broke down into various systems and functions. Very similar to a database containing

Amphetamines And Methamphetamines Essay
The medical use of amphetamines was common in the 1950/60 s when they were used to help cure
depression and to help the user lose weight. An amphetamine is a drug that is a stimulant to the central
nervous system. Amphetamines are colorless and may be inhaled, injected, or swallowed.
Amphetamines are also used non medically to avoid sleep, improve athletic performance, or to
counter the effects of depressant drugs. Amphetamines are addictive. Because of this, when the user

withdrawal symptoms are as follows: severe exhaustion, deep sleep lasting from 24 to 48 hours,

smoked form, it is known as ice, crystal, crank, and glass. Methamphetamine comes in many forms
and can be smoked, snorted, orally ingested or injected. The smokeable form of methamphetamine,

Religious Symbolism in Painting The Annunciation, with Saint Emidius by Carlo Crivelli
The artist Carlo Crivelli painted The Annunciation, with Saint Emidius in the 15th century.
Noticeably, Crivelli s portrayal of the Annunciation differs vastly to the one actually presented in Luke
1:26 38 of the Bible. For instance, Jesus coming was said to have been announced to Mary in
Nazareth, a town in Galilee (Luke 1:26). However, in Crivelli s interpretation of the event, the
Annunciation is set in the elaborate town of Ascoli, a town that has been portrayed to be flourishing in
the opulence and aesthetics that the Renaissance had brought to Crivelli s era. However, Crivelli may
have deliberately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to this, there is also a Latin phrase: LIBERTAS ECCLESIASTICA , which when translated
means Freedom from the Church . Moreover, Crivelli may have used such an extensive array of
colours in his painting to celebrate Ascoli s new, free status as well as to signify the joyous coming of
the Christ child.
A similarity with the actual Annunciation is the presence of the Archangel Gabriel as in the Bible, he
was sent to the Virgin Mary to announce the imminent arrival of baby Jesus. However, an irregularity
is still at hand as the Archangel is pictured to be walking alongside a Saint, which is a rarity in
religious works of art. The saint who he is walking with is Saint Emidius, the patron saint of Ascoli. In
his hands, Saint Emidius is shown to be carrying a model of his town. The model itself is dominated
by a collection of towers, which are status symbols of prosperity as well as connecting the Earth to the
Heavens above due to their height. The prosperity is reinforced throughout the image by the presence
of all the elegant architecture.
Visually, the audience is drawn into the painting by two protruding images: an apple and a gherkin.
The apple is suggestive of sin due to its obvious connections to the story of Adam and Eve and the
gherkin is representative of

By internal communication, I refer to the communication carried on between the WTO inside and its
members. The WTO internal communication takes place mainly by means of conferences or meetings
of different levels in various specialized working groups, councils and committees.
* Ministerial conference
The governing body of the WTO, responsible for all the decision making, composed of international
trade ministers from all member countries. Meets every two years, and the decisions are generally
taken by consensus (Alana Mann, 2012). * General Council
The WTO s highest level decision making body, meeting regularly to carry out the functions of the
WTO. It has the authority to act on behalf of the ministerial conference. The General Council also

Hydrauling Fracturing is a process used in nine out of ten natural gas wells in the United States, where
millions of gallons of water, sand and chemicals are pumped underground to break apart the rock and
release the gas. Hydrauling Fracturing damages the land, contaminates drinking water, pollutes the air,
cause illness in surrounding communities and has aslo known to cause earthquakes (Goldman,
Jennifer). It has major threats towards our climate. Methane gas the main competed of natural gas is
less common but more potent to greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide 85 to 105 time more powerful
than carbon dioxide at disrupting the climate over 20 years (Goldman, Jennifer ).Water and Pollution
are also infected by this. In Texas and Colorado more than 3.6 million gallons of water are used very

A Study of Iron Essay
Iron is an important element to the scientific community, especially those involved in the branch of
chemistry. Consequently, humans rely on iron for many different things. Iron is diverse from all other
elements with regards to its natural occurrence, historic and contemporary uses, the origin of its name,
and when, how, where, and by whom it was discovered. It also has unique characteristic physical and
chemical properties. Without the discovery, and distinctive properties of iron, life on Earth would
never be the same as it is now. Iron occurs naturally throughout the universe in abundance. It is found
in places such as stars, including the sun, and is distinguishable in soil and dissolved in groundwater

Iron began being widely used across Central Europe during the 8th century, and across Northern
Europe during the 6th century, and the Near Eastern Iron Age took place in two phases during the 12th
and 13th century. Asia began using iron at the same time as Europe, and China used iron long before
the Common Era. In North and South America, the development of iron began right after the rock age,
skipping the Bronze Age. During the early Iron Age, iron was used to make tools when combined with
0.3% to 1.2% by weight of carbon to form the alloy steel. Iron was used to make houses, tools such as
swords, daggers, chisels, and knives, and jewellery, among others. Iron can be used for a wide range
of resources in the contemporary world. It is the most abundant, least expensive, and most used of all
metals. It is vital to human and animal life, and humans use it in a variety of devices to make life
convenient. It is combined with other elements to make steel or other compounds for many
commercial uses, the most common of which include making fuels, lubricants, automobiles, machine
tools, hulls of large ships, building parts, machine parts, cooking pots and pans, cutlery, surgical
equipment, and aircraft. Iron (III) is used in the treatment of sewage, as a dye for cloth, as a coloring

Sustainability and Its Impact on the Four Managerial Functions
Nowadays people all over Australia use their own environmentally friendly shopping bags when they
go to the Supermarket. Why have so many people changed their every day habit and stopped using the
convenient plastic bags? The transition from plastic bags to recycled ones is only one aspect of a
global attitude change towards environmental topics. During the last few decades, businesses have
been focusing on lowering their production costs, with no considerations on the consequences for the
upcoming years. Today, organizations all over the globe are starting to change the way they operate in
order to prevent an environmental crisis.

In prior years, while managers used to set goals for their organization, their only consideration was
how to maximize revenues, without paying attention to the created waste during the manufacturing
process and the operation of the organization.
Nowadays, managers need to ensure that the manufacturing process is sustainable.
The Lean Manufacturing (Womack, Jones Roos, 1990) term is a managerial philosophy which tries to
eliminate waste as much as possible during the manufacturing process. For example maximize use and
reuse of raw materials, decrease the amount of excess supply and defective products, effective
shipping handling and consecutive manufacturing process. The second factor managers must relate to
is reduction in the amount of waste in the organization s building itself. For instance total consumption
of water and energy should be minimized as well. Then, the organization s board has to structure its
vision, and set specific goals relating to environment issues, for the upcoming years.
For illustration, for more than half a century The Coca Cola Company had put its emphasis on
protecting the environment. In 1956, The Coca Cola Company set a goal of protecting our world and
environment. Since then the company conducts researches about environmental issues consistently,
and is considered as a revolution maker in regards to environment and Sustainability topics. In

Example Of Negligence In Business Law
Business Law Analysis Assignment Brendan Young Niagara College Example 1: Negligence refers to
unreasonable conduct, including a careless act or omission, that causes harm to another (Duplessis, O

intersection where he had the right of way. Furthermore, the driver did try to brake for the pedestrian
but unfortunately did not react in time to stop. Therefore, the driver does not owe the pedestrian a duty
of care. Even thou the pedestrian suffered serious injuries he would have a hard time proving in a

The Freedom Of The United States
As we all know, freedom is a very meaningful word, and it has a variety expressions and definitions. I
can define the word freedom as liberty, independence, acting spontaneously, expressing yourself with
no fears, being positive and making your own choices. All people in the entire world like to be free
with no barrier or any kind of obstacles, emotionally and physically. Human beings deserve to be free
and live their life with no struggles. The most moment I felt entirely free is when I went back home to
my country, Morocco, to visit my family after a period living in the U.S.
I personally prefer to be free from any complications, but it s a pretty difficult in our society as a
Muslim girl to be permitted to do something without control. Moreover, we are prohibited for certain
things than in the US, for example going at night to have fun with friends or having a dinner at a late
hour. Since I got married, I decided to move and live with my husband because he works and live in
the US. In the beginning, it was a little hard for me to leave my parents and live in a far country than
my homeland. However, I realized that I will have a lot of opportunities and chances in the US such as
freedom. There are a lot of situations when I feel completely at liberty while I am living in the US, but
at the same time it s rare when I could feel open and relaxed from all the troubles, for instance, work
hard to satisfy my needs and study to achieve my goals and dreams.

Role Of Gender Stereotypes In The Media

We must focus on expression carpe diem. The speaker uses references to the Bible Love you ten years

consequences could be. Noah trusted God; therefore, he ended up living a prosperous life with no
regrets. If I live the rest of my life second guessing myself and doing the same thing every day; I will

grotesque image is repulsing. I do not see myself running into arms of a man who thought of these

It is hard to analyze the trend of sales from 2009 to 2011. The sales fluctuated during this period. The
profit increased rapidly from 2002 to 2005, then declined gradually due to the possible reasons of the
bad global economy situation and the financial crisis. After Tesco Bank was entirely owned by Tesco,
the profit boosted remarkably again such as the growth rate was 65.625% in 2009 and the average
growth rate of profit from 2008 to 2011 was 29.72%. However, the growth rate declined year by year.
Based on the evidence above, it can be inferred that Tesco Bank is now at the maturity stage.
According to the trend of profit, the product achieved acceptance by customers for a period of time,
then the big change in 2008 led to rejuvenation of its business. At the same time, the sales growth was

The Symbolism Of Tunnels In Literature

A Deeper Look: Stars, skeletons, and shadows are objects that may initially seem common and
insignificant to the plot of a novel. However, authors sometimes have a purpose behind simple objects
like these, events that occur, and/or the types of characters that are developed. When an author utilizes
a recurrent symbol, character, or situation that is an instinctual expression of man s nature and
experiences that are universal, the author is incorporating archetypes. In the novel
, author Stephen Chbosky develops several archetypes with a purpose of aiding the reader in
understanding and connecting with the novel and its characters. By including several prominent
archetypes such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this understanding, the reader is more likely to be able to relate to Charlie s adolescent
transformation or make connections with other young adult novels. The season of winter is a
prominent archetype in as well. Winter often accompanies dark, dreary, and somber times. In the
novel, Charlie hits his ultimate low point in his battle with depression in the middle of winter. He felt
that he was alone and had absolutely no one to turn to. One night shortly after New Year s, Charlie
found himself both mentally and physically lost. Suffocated by heavy thoughts, he wandered outside
and laid in the snow, only for a policeman to find him pale blue and asleep the next day, and he didn t
stop shivering from the cold until a long time after [his] mom and dad drove [him] home from the
emergency room, (Chbosky 98). The cold, snowy winter can be viewed as an archetype that affects
how the reader perceives this point in Charlie s transformation. The mood of the story, or how it
makes the reader feel, seems much more dismal because of the time of year. The reader will be able to
understand more completely how miserable of a time this was for Charlie, and he/she could
potentially relate to this feeling of loneliness. Another archetype that is present in is a hero. A hero is a
character who embarks on a journey where challenges and fears are overcome. Often times, heroes

Introduction
The ethical issue in human subjects research continues to receive greater attention within the research
ethics literature and the wider academia. A particular ethical issue that continues to draw controversy
is the use of deception in social science research involving human subjects. The question of whether
deception can be ethically justified is always at the forefront of the deception debate. While some

Not only that but concealing the true purpose of research from research subjects limit their knowledge
needed to make effective judgements to make a decision to consent (Bulmer, 1982; Baumrind, 1985;

In the mid 1960s Laud Humphreys carried out a study of male homosexuals in tearooms in the United
States (Humphreys, 1970). The tearoom is a name given to a public restroom where male
homosexuals reputedly use for various deviant encounters. Humphreys carry out the study through
various means. He first assumes a participant observation method where he misrepresents his identity
and knowledge of his research. He establishes himself within the cycle of his subjects and took up the
role of a voyeur or watchqueen to lookout for strangers and policemen while his subjects carry out
their activities (Humphreys, 1970). He concealed a tape recorder in his car and from time to time
make recordings of his observations. He recorded his subjects car registration numbers and uses it to
track them down to their home addresses. While conducting his study Humphreys was also
responsible to carry out a social health survey on a random sample of males in the community where
he lives. He interviews some of his subjects by posing as a social health survey officer. To ensure his
identity is not recognized he waited for a year before changing his dress code, hairstyle and car and

Should Child Soldiers Be Given Amnesty
One topic that has been debated recently is whether child soldiers from other countries are victims or
perpetrators, and whether they should be given amnesty or not. Many believe that child soldiers are
the victims, since they have no choice but to join or else they would be killed, and should also be
given amnesty since they don t know what they are doing because they are filled up with drugs.
However, those child soldiers should be mentally sane to be given amnesty and earn their citizenship
the way immigrants earn their citizenship. One significant piece of evidence to support the claim that
child soldiers are both the victims and be given amnesty is Ishmael who is a former child soldier who
has been given amnesty and he tells others about his experience as a child soldier. He was taking
refuge in a camp and forced to be a soldier. Before, he and other child soldiers went on missions they
were given drugs and he does not remember much of what he had done. This piece of evidence
supports the claim that child soldiers are the victims and should be given amnesty, because it shows
that they do not have a choice in becoming a soldier and are given drugs so they are not are thinking

The Loudest Voice Paley Summary
The Loudest Voice is a short story about the struggles of a girl who faces the battle of an overly
controlling parent. The author, Grace Paley, argues that Shirley should be in control of her own life.
Shirley is invited to narrate a Christmas themed play. This goes against her mom s religious beliefs,
which leads to arguments between Shirley s parents because her father disagrees. Her father argues
that Shirley should have freedom of choice in her actions, while her mother argues that Shirley does

freedom of choice, but it comes at a cost. The central theme of the story is Shirley has to decide

Analysis Of Waiting For Superman
I have not paid much attention to the schools that I have attended throughout my life. They only
appeared to be edifices composed of brick and mortar that consumed up to eight hours each weekday.
The schools that I went to from Cunningham in Joliet in my early childhood to MCHS in Minooka for
high school, both schools were made to serve a similar function but statistically, the demographics that
they served were completely different. There was a higher percentage of children eligible for financial
aid services such as discounted or free lunches at Cunningham, hinting at the different economic
status of most of the students in attendance. I also remember that there was only one set of classes that
everyone was set to take: no advanced or honors courses. I was lucky enough to move out of that
district and now go to a school that offers me opportunities that prepare me for a better career. Davis
Guggenheim takes a stance that criticizes the structure of the educational system as it gives students
with a higher economic background better chances to get a better job or even graduate. In his

areas and that it can be bridged.

Comparing Classical Yoga, Advaita Vedanta, And Tantra Yoga
The story, myth, and background of Kali can be interpreted in many different ways. There are three
strands of yoga that have developed over the past centuries. The tree strands are Classical Yoga,
Advaita Vedanta, and Tantra Yoga. Classical Yoga is a dualistic model in which purusha and prakriti
are completely separate. Everything has an equal and opposite counter part in this strand of yoga.
Advaita Vedanta Yoga was a response to dualistic, Classical Yoga. This strand of yoga is monistic and
is a view that affirms the unity of all things. Everything is one. The divine consciousness is
everywhere and in everything we see. Tantra Yoga is non dualistic while also realizing and accepting
that there is diversity in the world. Each of these strands of yoga looks at Kali s story differently and
its significance is different in each view.
In Classical Yoga, the view is that one must overcome prakriti. In doing so, the individual is able to
free the mind from their body to experience purusha. Kali is the creator of prakriti. She is the force
that drives the world and it s lila. It is often thought that when a bad storm or tornado hits, it is her
doing. A yogi of this view would meditate to Kali as the goddess of destruction, not the mother. They
would face that she is the unity of all things, being the creator and destroyer of everything we embrace
in this material world as seen with her dance in the myth. This yogi would learn to face the reality of
life and death. If one simply

Hoover s Beans, but is very fond of the Handell s brand, and was planning to serve them to her book
club when she hosted them for lunch the following afternoon. Mrs. Kant ordered her husband to return
to Bilmart to exchange the Hoover s beans for Handell s beans.
Upon arrival at the store early the next morning, Mr. Kant found that the line for customer service was
extremely long due to Bilmart s annual sponsorship of a major community food drive. In an effort to
save time, and thinking the line might be shorter upon his return, Mr. Kant placed the case of Hoover s
beans into a shopping cart, made his way through the store to the bean shelf, and then added the case
of Handell s beans to the cart. However, upon his return, the line had not diminished and it

What Extent Was Andrew Carnegie A Robber Baron Or A...
Were these powerful industrialists trying to get rich and powerful no matter what strain it puts on their
workers and competitors? Or were they an example of the American dream, an industry leader who
improved the nation and helped his people? Industrialists like Andrew Carnegie and John D.
Rockefeller were sometimes criticized and said to be Robber Barons. However, they were not, both
men increased the economy drastically, created millions of jobs for Americans, and donated large
amounts of money to charities like The Carnegie Institution and various Philanthropic causes. Andrew
Carnegie and John D. Rockefeller were Captains of Industry, not Robber Barons.

Rockefeller was a great Captain Of Industry; he reshaped and converted the oil industry and became a
philanthropist. Rockefeller grew up in an above average home with his Mother and Father. After being
graduated from High School in 1855, the family sent him to a Cleveland Business School. (The New
Tycoons: John D. Rockefeller) Rockefeller s parent s support as a young man was a great contribution
to his success. Many people argue that Rockefeller didn t deserve his great accomplishments, but just
as many other successful people; he too worked very hard for his achievements. Young John
Rockefeller entered the workforce on the bottom rung of the ladder as a clerk in a Cleveland shipping
firm (The New Tycoons; John D. Rockefeller). Rockefeller went from being a clerk in a small firm to
building up one of the greatest and largest industries in the U.S. As products such as automobiles were
becoming more popular, the demand for oil grew. John D. Rockefeller was also known for being a
Philanthropist, Rockefeller wrote one of his partners, let the good work go on. We must ever
remember we are refining oil for the poor man and he must have it cheap and good (Folsom, John D.
Rockefeller and the Oil Industry) Rockefeller knew that there was a need for oil, he gave the best oil
he could at the lowest price, his customers were his main priority and they were in his best interest.
Not only did Rockefeller support fellow Americans while he was alive, he also did after

History And Evolution Of The Anti Feminist Movement Essay
In this paper, I will be exploring in depth the history and evolution of the anti feminist movement as a
reaction to feminism in the United States. As a background, I will provide a brief summary of the
feminist movement and it s relation to anti feminism. Then I will go into the anti feminist movement,
and it s origins, background, and main supporters. Although anti feminism was founded as a backlash
movement, it actually sparked another wave of movements itself, those of which I will explore as
well. Lastly, I will look at how anti feminism has evolved over time, and it s impact on society and
feminism as a whole. Although feminism in the United States can be dated back to the early 18th
century, any movements or advocates during that time were scarce, and the societal influence
accomplished was little to none. The feminist movement didn t really start to get started until the 19th
century. 19th century through mid 20th century feminism is considered First wave feminism, which
includes the suffrage movement, education reform, workplace reform, and the beginning of the Equal
Rights Amendment (ERA) movements (Harding, 1981). The first wave of feminism peaked and is
said to have ended with the passage of the 19th Amendment, giving women the right to vote, and
putting an end to the highly influential suffrage movement. Second wave feminism is the period of the
feminist movement which took place from mid to late 20th century into the 21st century (Harding,
1981). This period

The Symbolism Of Colors In A Streetcar Named Desire
Colors represent what a character is doing or how they are as a person. In A Streetcar Named Desire
Blanche is connected to white but does not represent what the color means and Stanley is connecting
to red, strongly connecting to the color. White has the meaning of purity. Blanche Dubois means white
woods but Blanche as a person is nothing like what her name represents, she sleeps around with man
and lies to make herself look good. This is shown when Blanche says I haven t informed him of my
real age! showing that Blanche has and isn t planning on tell Mitch her age, even though her name
means white, truthful person, not a lieing person. This is also revealed when Blanche spills on her
white skirt again revealing that

The Death Penalty Of Indonesia INTRODUCTION Indonesia is by far the largest Southeast Asian nation, both in population and land area with the majority of the population, Muslim (OMF International, n.d). Indonesia, also has one of the strictest laws regarding drug offences and has demonstrated to not be afraid or be persuaded by neighboring states not to enforce it (Aquino, n.d). Eight out of the eleven countries within Southeast Asia still retain the death penalty for drug related offences in which Indonesia is the only country within Southeast Asia that still carries out its executions by firing squad (Death Penalty Information Centre, 2013) (see Table 1). The death penalty was extended to include drug offences and only introduced into Indonesian law in 1997 (Berman, 2013). However, Indonesia continues to enforce this penalty in the wake of the 2013 execution of a Malawian national becoming the first execution in some years (see Table 2) (Delaney, 2013, ¶23). Table 1. Their fabric is laced with beautiful patterns accounting tales of the past that older generations with to preserve. In Marilyn Nelson Waniek s poem, The Century Quilt, Nelson employs structure, vivid imagery, and a fanciful tone to illustrate how a family quilt is used to connect generations with one another with this precious family heirloom. Waniek s choice of structure for this particular poem is unique in that it alternates between short phrases and winded, descriptive lines. This gives the poem the child like atmosphere that Waniek was intending to illustrate. It is evident that the author is an older individual who is reflecting on both their life and the lives of those who had used the quilt prior. Each square holding a sweet gum leaf and its pattern of leaves definitely gives the impression that this quilt is a magnificent and encompassing tree. Trees are traditionally thought of as old and full of meaning, having many branches and leaves stemming from the same trunk. This parallels the meaning of the quilt to the individual since it is a tool by which the individual can relate and think of those, in his family, who may have also taken comfort and enjoyed the whimsical essence of this tree. Additionally, this quilt allows for the individual to fantasize about the days of those who used the blanket before: his [gentle] mother and [proud] father. He is able to imagine their lives with fanciful imagery while also questioning who will take the blanket next, perhaps a son, the speaker says. However, both companies have been able to combine these aspects which is attractive to many consumers. Perhaps looking at the history of both companies can lead some insight to this transformation. Sheetz was founded in 1952 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and began to spread out as primarily convenience stores. In 1972 the company had expanded to seven to fourteen stores, and a year later Sheetz added gasoline pumps. It was in 1995 that Sheetz began to introduce touchscreen ordering and their food and beverage products, offering high quality food at a gas convenience store ( Our History ). Conversely, Wawa began in 1964 and was a food market, and added more food products throughout the beginning years. The gas station aspect of the company was not introduced until 1996, and chiefly the company provided a deli and convenience store service. Touchscreens were installed in 2002, and the company has continued to expand their food products while spreading along the east coast ( Wawa: 50 Years Counting ). Interestingly, both companies started as food based and moved to provide other services over time. This is perhaps why the companies have a passion for serving quality food, since it is in their roots. • 12. Alfred Hitchcock Use Of Suspense Essay Alfred Hitchcock uses omission to set up suspense and a feeling of skepticism for the viewer. Lighting, dialogue, and distance all are tools Hitchcock employs to aid in his omission of certain details. The main asset Hitchcock exploits is the distance L.B. Jeffries is trapped at in comparison to where the real drama takes place for much of the film. This distance leaves the viewer feeling perturbed. Hitchcock utilizes the distance between Jeffries s window, through which most of the film is shot, and the actions taking place in the apartments all the way across the courtyard to hide the dialogue between the characters. Jeffries is unable to leave his apartment and since the camera does not either, the viewer is rendered just as impotent as him. Hitchcock makes it clear that Mr. Thorwald is on the phone and from the attention drawn to him the viewer is led to believe that what he is saying could lead to the discovery of what happened to his wife. The aspect of this scene that adds suspense is the dark lighting making it impossible to see what he is saying. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hitchcock omits what is in the trunk or where it is going. The viewer is then left to their imagination to decide what it could possibly contain. Another aspect of the film omitted by limited sight is what is happening with Mrs. Thorwald s jewelry. The viewer is able to see that the jewelry was left behind, but any indication of what this actually means is left up in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Nature Of Free Will Essay 1 Introduction Are we free? All of us have a clear sense that we are free. We believe that our decisions are wholly our own, a result of our own reasoning and analysis. According to David Hume, the question of the nature of free will is the most contentious question of metaphysics. If Hume is correct, understanding of free will is a complex task indeed. At best to say that an agent has free will is to say that the agent has the ability and power to choose his or her course of action without constraint. What is so important about whether or not an agent has free will? Perhaps because free will is related to freedom of action and moral responsibility. If actions are a result of rational analysis, then we see that free action depends on free will. At best to say that an agent acted freely is to say that the agent successfully carried out a free choice. Different philosophers have offered similar accounts of freedom. Thomas Hobbes said A free agent is he that can do as he will, and forbear as he will, and that liberty is the absence of external impediments. In An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding, David Hume offered power of acting or of not acting, according to the determination of the will; that is, if we choose to remain at rest, we may; if we choose to move, we also may. Now this hypothetical liberty is universally allowed to belong to everyone, who is not a prisoner and in chains. Nevertheless, one can argue that this methodology fails to address the distinction ... Religious Symbolism in Painting The Annunciation, with Saint Emidius by Carlo Crivelli The artist Carlo Crivelli painted The Annunciation, with Saint Emidius in the 15th century. Noticeably, Crivelli s portrayal of the Annunciation differs vastly to the one actually presented in Luke 1:26 38 of the Bible. For instance, Jesus coming was said to have been announced to Mary in Nazareth, a town in Galilee (Luke 1:26). A similarity with the actual Annunciation is the presence of the Archangel Gabriel as in the Bible, he was sent to the Virgin Mary to announce the imminent arrival of baby Jesus. However, an irregularity is still at hand as the Archangel is pictured to be walking alongside a Saint, which is a rarity in religious works of art. The saint who he is walking with is Saint Emidius, the patron saint of Ascoli. In his hands, Saint Emidius is shown to be carrying a model of his town. The model itself is dominated by a collection of towers, which are status symbols of prosperity as well as connecting the Earth to the Heavens above due to their height. The prosperity is reinforced throughout the image by the presence of all the elegant architecture. Visually, the audience is drawn into the painting by two protruding images: an apple and a gherkin. The Symbolism Of Tunnels In Literature Lauren Schmidt Mr. Porter English IV 25 September 2017 A Deeper Look: Stars, skeletons, and shadows are objects that may initially seem common and insignificant to the plot of a novel. However, authors sometimes have a purpose behind simple objects like these, events that occur, and/or the types of characters that are developed. When an author utilizes a recurrent symbol, character, or situation that is an instinctual expression of man s nature and experiences that are universal, the author is incorporating archetypes. In the novel , author Stephen Chbosky develops several archetypes with a purpose of aiding the reader in understanding and connecting with the novel and its characters. With this understanding, the reader is more likely to be able to relate to Charlie s adolescent transformation or make connections with other young adult novels. The season of winter is a prominent archetype in as well. Winter often accompanies dark, dreary, and somber times. In the novel, Charlie hits his ultimate low point in his battle with depression in the middle of winter. He felt that he was alone and had absolutely no one to turn to. One night shortly after New Year s, Charlie found himself both mentally and physically lost. Suffocated by heavy thoughts, he wandered outside and laid in the snow, only for a policeman to find him pale blue and asleep the next day, and he didn t stop shivering from the cold until a long time after [his] mom and dad drove [him] home from the emergency room, (Chbosky 98). The cold, snowy winter can be viewed as an archetype that affects how the reader perceives this point in Charlie s transformation. The mood of the story, or how it makes the reader feel, seems much more dismal because of the time of year. The reader will be able to understand more completely how miserable of a time this was for Charlie, and he/she could potentially relate to this feeling of loneliness. Another archetype that is present in is a hero. A hero is a character who embarks on a journey where challenges and fears are overcome. Often times, heroes leave and return home a new person; the way he/she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A particular ethical issue that continues to draw controversy is the use of deception in social science research involving human subjects. • 32. Should Child Soldiers Be Given Amnesty One topic that has been debated recently is whether child soldiers from other countries are victims or perpetrators, and whether they should be given amnesty or not. Many believe that child soldiers are the victims, since they have no choice but to join or else they would be killed, and should also be given amnesty since they don t know what they are doing because they are filled up with drugs. However, those child soldiers should be mentally sane to be given amnesty and earn their citizenship the way immigrants earn their citizenship. One significant piece of evidence to support the claim that child soldiers are both the victims and be given amnesty is Ishmael who is a former child soldier who has been given amnesty and he tells others about his experience as a child soldier. He was taking refuge in a camp and forced to be a soldier. Before, he and other child soldiers went on missions they were given drugs and he does not remember much of what he had done. This piece of evidence supports the claim that child soldiers are the victims and should be given amnesty, because it shows that they do not have a choice in becoming a soldier and are given drugs so they are not are thinking clearly and they don t know what they are doing. They only appeared to be edifices composed of brick and mortar that consumed up to eight hours each weekday. The schools that I went to from Cunningham in Joliet in my early childhood to MCHS in Minooka for high school, both schools were made to serve a similar function but statistically, the demographics that they served were completely different. There was a higher percentage of children eligible for financial aid services such as discounted or free lunches at Cunningham, hinting at the different economic status of most of the students in attendance. I also remember that there was only one set of classes that everyone was set to take: no advanced or honors courses. I was lucky enough to move out of that district and now go to a school that offers me opportunities that prepare me for a better career. Davis Guggenheim takes a stance that criticizes the structure of the educational system as it gives students with a higher economic background better chances to get a better job or even graduate. • 38. Comparing Classical Yoga, Advaita Vedanta, And Tantra Yoga The story, myth, and background of Kali can be interpreted in many different ways. There are three strands of yoga that have developed over the past centuries. The tree strands are Classical Yoga, Advaita Vedanta, and Tantra Yoga. Classical Yoga is a dualistic model in which purusha and prakriti are completely separate. Everything has an equal and opposite counter part in this strand of yoga. Advaita Vedanta Yoga was a response to dualistic, Classical Yoga. This strand of yoga is monistic and is a view that affirms the unity of all things. Everything is one. The divine consciousness is everywhere and in everything we see. Tantra Yoga is non dualistic while also realizing and accepting that there is diversity in the world. Each of these strands of yoga looks at Kali s story differently and its significance is different in each view. In Classical Yoga, the view is that one must overcome prakriti. In doing so, the individual is able to free the mind from their body to experience purusha. Kali is the creator of prakriti. She is the force that drives the world and it s lila. It is often thought that when a bad storm or tornado hits, it is her doing. A yogi of this view would meditate to Kali as the goddess of destruction, not the mother. They would face that she is the unity of all things, being the creator and destroyer of everything we embrace in this material world as seen with her dance in the myth. This yogi would learn to face the reality of life and death. If one simply ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To further explain the effects, I will use an example about a girl named Susie whom is about to take her midterm. Susie heard that female students have more difficulty with math than male students leading her to believe she will fail, when in all actuality her failure could probably be attributed to the availability heuristic and self fulfilling prophecy. FACTS: Our client, Sam Kant, was arrested for shoplifting at Bilmart, a national department store. At his wife s request, Mr. Kant went to Bilmart on Wednesday, October 20, 2008, and purchased a case of six 4 oz. cans of Hoover s Baked Beans with Bacon. Upon returning home, his wife chastised him for once again failing to purchase what she had requested. Mrs. Kant ordered her husband to return to Bilmart to exchange the Hoover s beans for Handell s beans. Upon arrival at the store early the next morning, Mr. Kant found that the line for customer service was extremely long due to Bilmart s annual sponsorship of a major community food drive. In an effort to save time, and thinking the line might be shorter upon his return, Mr. Kant placed the case of Hoover s beans into a shopping cart, made his way through the store to the bean shelf, and then added the case of Handell s beans to the cart. • 42. History And Evolution Of The Anti Feminist Movement Essay In this paper, I will be exploring in depth the history and evolution of the anti feminist movement as a reaction to feminism in the United States. As a background, I will provide a brief summary of the feminist movement and it s relation to anti feminism. Then I will go into the anti feminist movement, and it s origins, background, and main supporters. Although anti feminism was founded as a backlash movement, it actually sparked another wave of movements itself, those of which I will explore as well. Lastly, I will look at how anti feminism has evolved over time, and it s impact on society and feminism as a whole. Although feminism in the United States can be dated back to the early 18th century, any movements or advocates during that time were scarce, and the societal influence accomplished was little to none. The feminist movement didn t really start to get started until the 19th century. 19th century through mid 20th century feminism is considered First wave feminism, which includes the suffrage movement, education reform, workplace reform, and the beginning of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) movements (Harding, 1981). The first wave of feminism peaked and is said to have ended with the passage of the 19th Amendment, giving women the right to vote, and putting an end to the highly influential suffrage movement. Second wave feminism is the period of the feminist movement which took place from mid to late 20th century into the 21st century (Harding, 1981). This period ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
