Computer Network Administrator
COMPUTER NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR
A computer network (the network ) is the connection of at least two or more computers for the
purpose of sharing data and resources. These resources can include printers, Internet access, file
sharing, and electronic mail ( e mail ). In today s technological environment, most companies and
businesses have some kind of network used on a daily basis. Thus, it is imperative to day to day
operations that networks run smoothly. Companies employ at least one person to watch over this
important aspect of any company s business. This person is generally called a network administrator.
This position carries significant responsibilities since most companies are subject to significant

Exams to obtain these certifications are various and challenging. Although self paced training classes
are offered, real classroom experience is almost essential to being successful in obtaining these
certifications. Experienced certified instructors focus on the important material and offer on the job
examples to help any student understand the material in order to pass the examinations.
Vendor Neutral Certification
While specific vendor certifications are most sought after, there are several beginner certifications
developed by CompTIA, the Computing Technology Industry Association. Technical schools, some
high schools, and self paced training courses offer these courses. The usual starting certifications
include A+, Network+, and Internet+ (p. 28). The A+ certification is for personal computer technicians
working with hardware and software troubleshooting. The Network+ certification covers networking
basics. Internet+ offers training on different aspects of the World Wide Web such as e mail and web
page design. Most entry level tech support positions require at least one or more of these
certifications.
SALARY EXPECTATION
The network administrator is a very important position in any company and, as such, is well
reimbursed financially. However, according to an article titled Career Direction, Computer Network
administrator wages vary greatly

Stone Castle Research Paper
Attacking
Fire
Fire was the best way to attack the early Motte and Bailey castles since they were made entirely of
wood. The fire might be started by building a bonfire against the outer wooden fence (palisade) or,
more usually, by archers shooting fire arrows into the castle. As the fire spread through the castle those
living inside would be forced to leave allowing the attackers to take them prisoner or kill them. This
was one of the reasons why Motte and Bailey castles were soon replaced by Stone Keep castles. Fire
has little effect on a stone castle.
Battering Ram
The thick stone walls of the Stone Keep castles were difficult for men to knock down. Although
pickaxes could be used against castles with thinner walls, it would take a very long time to knock a
hole through a castle with very thick walls. The battering ram was particularly useful since the weight
of several men would be put behind it. This would make it a considerable force that could seriously
weaken and possibly destroy doors or walls.

In Medieval times, you d have found a drawbridge along part of this modern wooden bridge into
Bodiam Castle. Curiously, the earliest drawbridge designs were fussier and a bit harder to explain. At
the most basic level, they could just be an unsecured piece of long wood, which was removed when
attackers were nearby. A different system worked a bit like a set of hands on a clock. The wooden
drawbridge was rotated across the moat, like a big hand reaching from 3 o clock around to 6. Another
system which we nowadays call the bascule was a see saw type arrangement, with a complex
counterweight on either side to draw one side up whilst the other went

Case Study Of Funny Face
Case Study One presents a complex situation of dispute between a business selling an aftershave
lotion called Funny Face, the manufacturer and distributer of the product, Novelty Now and a
consumer, Donald Margolin. To understand the legal issues of this case discussion of jurisdiction,
alternative dispute resolution concepts, liability from an individual and corporate viewpoint and
ethical decision making will be explored. To summarize the Case Study, three individuals started an
internet based business while living in California to sell an aftershave lotion called Funny Face. They
contracted with Novelty Now Inc., a company based in Florida to manufacture and distribute Funny
Face. A high profile consumer who is a success CEO and public speaker purchases the product over
the internet, uses the product one time which results in his face turning a permanent shade of blue. Mr.

executives of Funny Face. Everyone can argue some standards of mitigation. Chris may argue mistake
of fact that he did not have knowledge of the risks of PYR. Novelty Now can argue that they were
simply following the formula directed from the originators of the product. Matt and Ian may argue
they had no knowledge and did not authorize the change in formulation of Funny Face. These parties

There are three basic approaches by which DP steels are produced commercially:
1. During the hot rolling cycles, only dual phases can be formed.
2. Hot or cold rolled strip is uncoiled, and continuous annealing is done at the Intercritical annealing
temperature.
3. Batch annealing could also be done. Hot or cold rolled strip is annealed under coiled condition.

Was The Boston Massacre A Massacre
On March 5, 1770, indignant Boston colonists assembled on King Street, rocketing snowballs and
launching stones at the British soldiers stationed in the English city. The rebels heckled the troops,
threatening them with weapons and ominous declarations, inducing defensive military action by the
British, leading to the deaths of five colonial rebels...Let s try that again.
On March 5, 1770, passionate Boston colonists gathered on King Street to discuss the inequitable,
prejudiced taxes enacted by their tyrannical mother country. The British soldiers embarked on a fervid
rampage, terrorizing the colonial people with hostile words and menacing attacks. The altercation
ended with innocent colonists splattered on the icy ground, the pure snow now stained with burgundy
blood, their frosty bodies pierced with lethal bullets, their brisk breaths reduced to clouds of death...
Much better.
If you were educated in the United States of America, you know the Boston Massacre as the
slaughtering of innocent Patriots fighting for liberty, for justice, for freedom. Yet if you are British, the
Boston Massacre is an irrelevant event in your Civil War. The victors dictate history, therefore,
perspective is skewed and history is fabricated. Because of historical inaccuracy, you were probably
unaware that the Boston Massacre was not a massacre at all; it became a massacre through
propaganda, specifically, Paul Revere s engraving, The Bloody Massacre Perpetrated in King Street

The Roles Of Children In Ancient Greece
The portrayal of children in Ancient Greece changed from the Archaic period (610 480 BC) to their
portrayal in the Hellenistic age (323 31 BC). Through art, scholars can piece together the status and
roles of children, including how their lives were different in various city states.
Art became became more personal and more detailed during the Hellenistic age; for example, the
portrayal of children during this time depicted their physical and mental state often a playful scene
free from the worry and stress that weigh down adults; while during the Archaic period, artist tended
to depict children as adults that were simply smaller in size.
Another interesting and different depiction of children in Ancient Greece can be found in comparing

Pros And Cons Of The French And Indian War
These disgusting, filthy colonists think that they are in control. I mean honestly, what do they think
they know about running a colony and making people pay taxes after a war. They need to understand
that being run by the British is the only way they can survive. On top of that this guy named Benjamin
Franklin thinks he can unite the colonies by making a poster. They don t need unity, they need a ruler
that can guide them through our economic troubles.Join or Die? What was he thinking anyways? The
French and Indian War was an expensive war we need to pay off the debt somehow. Were not being
unreasonable anyways,. How much harm could a couple of taxes do anyways? The colonists are
making too much of a big deal over nothing. For example the tea act which puts a tax on tea is fair for
the colonists and even beneficial. For instance the price of tea has actually gone down instead of going
up. And who cares if the East India Company has a monopoly over the industry. People in the colonies
could always find a new job. Furthermore the declaratory act may even help the colonies since the
great and powerful British parliament has full control of the colonies. Finally the reaction to the
quartering act is completely inappropriate. Those soldiers fought their hardest to protect the colonies
carry the colonists through battle. The least they can do is give them the respect and dignity that they
rightfully deserve. There are around 10,000 soldiers in the colonies and they need a

16 September 2015
This upcoming presidential election includes a diverse pool of candidates, with a wide variety of
opinions coming from different backgrounds. There is one candidate that stands out among the rest:
Vermont senator Bernie Sanders. He has decades of experience in politics, which is immensely
important for someone holding the position of President. During his time in public service he has
demonstrated that he is committed, strong, productive, fair, and honest. Sanders relies on his policies
and ideas significantly more than flaunting a charming personality to gain support, and he is able to do
this because he has always put a lot of consideration into the decisions he makes. Furthermore, he has
always been a strong supporter of quality of opportunity, which is the political ideal advocating the
view that the assignment of individuals to places in the social hierarchy is determined by some form of
competitive process; all members of society are eligible to compete on equal terms. As president,
Sanders would take many steps toward improving this aspect of society. He recognizes that currently
there is great disparity in the balance of power, and he has consistently fought towards making the
U.S.A. a country where everyone is well taken care of and has access to what they need. If Sanders
becomes president, he will fight for everyone to have an equal chance of achieving their own
American Dream. One of

Thirty seconds left in the La Liga cup finals. Real Madrid is playing the Notorious FC Barcelona.
Everything is on the line. Cristiano Ronaldo has the ball on his foot. He cuts left passing a right
midfielder. Ronaldo advances forward towards the opponent s goal. Again, he dashes toward the next
man, double step over, rake, Cruyff turn, scissor, and another cut to his left to be the center defensive
midfielder. With every second gone the pressure rises. Ronaldo has two more defenders to beat before
he has a chance to shoot the ball. Instead, he does the unthinkable, from 34 yards out he strikes a
driven ball with the outside of his right foot putting it perfectly in the upper left hand corner of the
goal to win the game. I know what you re thinking there is no way that is true and you may be partly
right. This event did take place, however, in the new FIFA 17 video game.

Hester Prynne Heroism
One of the most enduring conflicts concerning Nathaniel Hawthorne s novel The
Scarlet Letter is over whose story is primarily being told: Hester Prynne s or Arthur Dimmesdale s.
Hester s feminine heroism tends to domineer the novel in contrast to the distraught clergyman, so
often at a loss in the complexities of human existence. Hawthorne illustrates Dimmesdale s relentless
strive towards immortality brought on by the strict repression of Puritan society, all the while
maintaining the transcendental impression that protests his irrational means of coping with guilt.
Hawthorne establishes Hester Prynne as the immediate heroine of the novel, but as one observes the
story of Arthur Dimmesdale unfold, it becomes clearer that his struggle is that ... Show more content

Dimmesdale only does this halfway when he announces People of New England!...ye, that have loved

upon the spot where, seven years since, I should have stood; here, with this woman, whose arm, more
than the little strength wherewith I have crept hitherward, sustains me, at this dreadful moment, from

at first glance is, in the end quite selfish and reveals that his nemesis an event that cannot be avoided,
usually as a result of the hero s hamartia could have been prevented entirely. Unlike the tragic heroes
of Macbeth or Oedipus, whose lives were doomed from the start and therefore unalterable,
Dimmesdale has the power to change his fate. The minister recognizes this frequently throughout the

guilt, to relinquish himself from the chains of his guilt and prevent it from ultimately destroying him,
but he chooses to suffer quietly.

Definition Essay On Humor
Humor is not something new to us. In fact, the use of humor is as old as the use of communication
itself, and just like language, it has undergone some phenomenal changes thanks to our cultural
differences. Many factors such as age, personal experience, geographic location and even level of
education play a part in our use of humor. A simple joke one person from one area may find hilarious
could get completely different results from someone from somewhere else. Whether or not someone
finds a joke amusing is ultimately determined by their interpretation of the joke. Since our
interpretations are filtered by a cultural context, our culture is a major factor on how humor is used
around us. This paper is designed to look at these variances in order to better appreciate humor and
diversity across different cultures.

There is less emphasis on ironies; therefore, our humor tends to be more open and displayed. Also, we
enjoy a style of humor that involves exaggerated physical expressions and actions. We tend to use
more physical and sexual humor, and our jokes are more obvious and to the point. We can
occasionally use sarcasm in our jokes, but it tends to be more subtle and rare. Practical jokes, wise
cracks and pranking are very common but not to the extent of injury.
The Relief Theory of humor often comes to mind since a lot of American humor involves sexual
jokes, religion, politics, and ethical differences. According to Martin (2007), the Relief Theory
involves using humor to relieve tension to feel more comfortable, The Jokes often serve as an avenue
to test the waters in order to ensure that it is acceptable and release the tension. Examples of some of
our most famous comedy include: Saturday Night Live, The Three Stooges, Woody Allen, Jon Stewart

Cultural Culture In Germany
Germany is a highly diverse country filled with historic sites and a variety of countryside.
The country is full of all walks of life from the North Sea to the Swiss Alps in the south. The
language spoken there is Deutsch but just like anywhere else depending upon where you are can
determine the different types of dialect you might hear. For instance, in the Northern part of
Germany, you might hear a more Danish dialect and in the South, you might find a lot more
Swedish speaking individuals. The German country is rich in history and has contributed to
Europe in a plethora of ways it s almost unprecedented, and their influence is still felt throughout
Europe and the rest of the world today. To say that there is one single German culture wouldn t
be doing the country any justice. Germany is arguably one of the most culturally diverse nations
in all of Europe. This is largely due in part of the almost central location of Germany in Europe,
and the amount of federally funded programs that are available there. Germany gets its
reputation as one of the major cultural nations due to major influences in the country throughout
the eras from famous music composers to literary geniuses. Cultural awareness is arguably one
of the most important assets as a military we must have that is why I feel the need to cover the
main aspects of Germany in which their culture is influenced and derived from on a day to day
basis of their lives.

Effects Of Dementia On The Brain Essay
Reckless behavior early in life can affect the rest of your life dramatically. Whether it is drinking too
much, use of illegal drugs, or even just a simple vehicle accident, it can cause brain damage which can
lead to dementia. Dementia isn t necessarily a disease but rather terminology to describe a set of
symptoms. Severe impairment in intellectual capacity and personality, often due to damage to the
brain (Gazzaniga, Grison, Heatherton, 2015). In other words, dementia comes with an inability to
process surroundings, a difference in character, and, depending in severity, complete memory loss.
This loss is because nerve cells in the parts of the brain that are responsible for cognition, like the
cerebellum (Molinari, 2002), have been damaged and can no longer function normally. There are
many types of dementia, such as, Alzheimer s, the most common, as well as many others that differ in
symptoms. Though many kinds of dementia normally end in pain, suffering and often death, there is
no cure. Dementia is a neurocognitive disorder that can affects one s life drastically, because of
memory loss, an inability to preform everyday activities, and personality changes.
When diagnosing an individual with dementia, doctors perform a series of tests that evaluate their
cognition ability as well as taking a MRI scan of the brain. Doctors also follow DSM 5, Diagnostic
and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, guidelines. According to this manual dementia is

Bp s ( British Petroleum ) Oil Spill Crisis
We decided to look closer at BP s (British Petroleum) oil spill crisis in 2010. It is British multinational
oil and Gas Company, their headquarter is based on London, England. According to PFC Energy, it is
the fifth largest company in the world measured by revenues in 2012, and the sixth largest in oil and
gas industry if measured by production in 2012. BP s annual report states that as of December 2013,
BP operates in approximately 80 countries. On April 20, 2010 the explosion and sinking of Deepwater
Horizon oil rig happened, it was located in the Gulf of Mexico. The well was finally capped on July
15, 2010. By that time an estimated 4.9 million barrels of oil had leaked into the Gulf (ocean.si.edu).
This awful tragedy killed 11 people. Unfortunately, this is not the only example of environmental
harm. Companies in oil industry cause various environmental problems. According to
LyndenEnergy.com, exploration, development and production operations of oil and natural gas are
subject to all the risks and hazards typically associated with such operations, including hazards such as
fire, explosion, blowouts, cratering, sour gas releases and spills . Each of these hazards could result in
substantial damage to the environment. Oil business includes so many environmental risks that all its
phases are subject to multiple regulations by federal, state and local laws. As stated at

1. The importance of international business: International business is all business dealings isolated and

Why Did the Discoveries of the Renaissance Make Little...
Why did the discoveries of the Renaissance make little practical difference to medical treatment
between c1500 c1700?
During the renaissance there were 3 significant figures, who were Andreas Vesalius who was famous
for his knowledge in anatomy, Ambroise Paré who was famous for his advances in surgery, and
William Harvey who was famous for working out how the body worked (physiology). These three
made extremely big and definitely important discoveries, but for different reasons never really at the
time came about to have an importance.
Andreas Vesalius published a book entitled The Fabric of the Human Body which was published
around the time that printing first came about. His specialism was anatomy, and in the book that he ...

William Harvey published the book called An Anatomical Account of the Motion of the Heart and
Blood in Animals which was officially published a fair time after the other two s books. He proved
that the heart acts as a pump by recirculating the blood, and showed that the blood flows around the
body and is carried away by the arteries and is carried back into the heart by the veins. This had a
limited impact because likewise to Vesalius, it did not make anyone healthier at the time, and it made
more of a long term impact on medicine. He had not found a way to practically cure people because
he had just made a book to further people s knowledge on how the body works. Although his book is
very useful for us nowadays, at the time people would not know how to approach it, and really wouldn
t make much of an impact on the people s health.
In conclusion, the main reason that I believe is the answer to not having much of a change in the
Renaissance is the people s attitude to change. For example, even though they knew deep down that
something wasn t working, they would still go ahead and use it because of the fact that it was what
they were used to. The great discoveries that were made by Vesalius, Paré and Harvey did not improve
people s health day to day, but instead made a serious impact in the general history of medicine. They
showed that the only persons attitude that was going to change was those of the rich and the

Video Game Consoles Evolution
Did video game consoles gradually evolve over time, or was it an abrupt evolution? Currently there
are only three companies producing home video game consoles, which are Nintendo, Sony, and
Microsoft and they had to fight to get to where they are. Is there a certain formula a company must
follow to become successful in this business or were they just lucky? This paper will look at the
evolution of home video game consoles over time, starting with the first home video game console in
the 1970s to current day consoles. I surmise that there are certain characteristics that companies with
successful video game consoles have over others. I also surmise that because of the available

my null hypothesis being, there will be no correlation between the traits of failed companies video
game consoles, and that of companies with successful video game consoles. The meteoric rise of
video gaming has created a phenomenon that does not appear to be stopping any time soon. A brief
history of home video game consoles is a must when it comes to understanding them. There are
currently 3 companies manufacturing video game consoles. This study will utilize phylogenetics to
test the evolutionary validity over time of video game consoles Just as biologists use phylogenetic

cultural evolution researches have shown that phylogenetic methods can also be usefully applied to
cultural phenomena to reconstruct evolutionary relationships between different culturally transmitted
artifacts, behavioral practices, and languages.

The Importance Of A Career
There are many decisions an individual has to make in life, and choosing a career is one of the most
important decisions he or she can make. Many people struggle with choosing one because of various
factors that must be considered before embarking on a career path. Knowledge of self is important
because, in order to successfully choose a correct path in life, it is important for the person to know
themselves and align their personalities and abilities to what they choose to do. Individuals must set
goals for themselves in terms of what they want out of their education and career so that they can
make informed decisions pertaining to their lives. Plans must be carefully made if people want a
successful career that they feel fulfilled with. My client, Randy, has been through a process of learning
about himself, has goals that have been, and will be, fulfilled, and has set clear plans on what he wants
out of his career. Randy is a successful athletic trainer because he has taken the time to plan his life
out and find a job that best matches his personality and goals.
Self Knowledge Goal A keen understanding of self is important in any important decision, as someone
must know themselves to understand what they want out of life. Self knowledge means understanding
self, including what the person is interested in, values, likes and dislikes, and where one s priorities

The industry and the sector can be classified as being in a mature state. Despite this, many companies
in the sector are able to achieve higher profit margins due to strong brand name recognition,
innovative products and good marketing techniques. A trend observed in this industry was to focus on
primary strengths rather than on diversification strategies, which was the case in 1990s. This allowed
many companies to sell off their non profitable businesses and for others acquiring of cash cows.
Procter and Gamble followed the suite when it acquired Clairol. 1. External Analysis The primary

The Bloody Chamber Analysis
The gothic genre is a style of writing that is characterized by components of horror, disquietude, death
and romance. There are many conventions to the gothic genre which indulges details on gothic
architecture, spirituality and lucid descriptions in the first person along with dialogues. It is widely
accepted that both the novella, Carmilla and the short stories from The Bloody Chamber include these
aspects of gothic literature. Patriarchal dominance is often defined as a system of male domination and
in gothic fiction it is traditional for the male to in fact save the weak and fragile female out of danger;
further dominating his role. Although Carmilla was written during the Victorian Era, one would aspect
a male dominated patriarchal system to be followed, but Le Fanu doesn t succumb to the traditional
but in fact subverts it by casting the villain as female who preys on young and vulnerable women
ultimately for power. However, where Carmilla does indeed follow the traditional gothic horror
narrative where the victims are always presented as succumbing to a temptation that inevitably, has
metaphysical consequences; in Carmilla the victims die from an unknown malady. The Bloody
Chamber reviews on how unimpeachable fairy tales encompass strong socio political undertones such
as gender roles and presents the nameless heroine as woman whom is capable of changing her fate,
whereby she doesn t die like the other wives. Similarly, in Carmilla it can also be

Kotwal: A Reader s Companion, Tendulkar says, This is a non historical opera like legend based on

goes beyond the time and place. Although the author undertakes all the responsibility of the historical
base of the episode , he does not intend to express his opinion on the Peshwa regime, Nana Phadnavis

In an interview Manoj Bhise says, In Ghashiram Kotwal, Tendulkar uses history but he does not

scrupulously adhered to the historical details, his play isabout the large topic it is a deep searching
study of Christian sainthood. In the same way, Tendulkar has used history to illuminate a much larger
question of power politics.

Essay Battle of Gettysburg
Battle of Gettysburg
This most famous and most important Civil War Battle occurred over three hot summer days, July 1 to
July 3, 1863, around the small market town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It began as a skirmish but by
its end involved 160,000 Americans.
Before the battle, major cities in the North such as Philadelphia, Baltimore and even Washington were
under threat of attack from General Robert E. Lee s Confederate Army of Northern Virginia which had
crossed the Potomac River and marched into Pennsylvania.
The Union Army of the Potomac under its very new and untried commander, General George G.
Meade, marched to intercept Lee.

Cavalry leader Jeb Stuart had gone off with his troops to harass the Federals. Stuart s expedition
would turn out to be for the most part a wild goose chase which left Lee at a disadvantage until he
returned.
Lee decided to attack the Union Army s defensive position at the southern end of Cemetery Ridge
which he thought was less well defended.
About 10 a.m. the next morning, Thursday, July 2, Gen. Longstreet was ordered by Lee to attack. But
Longstreet was quite slow in getting his troops into position and didn t attack until 4 p.m. that
afternoon thus giving the Union Army even more time to strengthen its position.
When Longstreet attacked, some of the most bitter fighting of the Civil War erupted at places now part
of American military folklore such as Little Round Top, Devil s Den, the Wheat Field and the Peach
Orchard. Longstreet took the Peach Orchard but was driven back at Little Round Top.
About 6:30 p.m. Gen. Ewell attacked the Union line from the north and east at Cemetery Hill and
Culp s Hill. The attack lasted into darkness but was finally unsuccessful at Cemetery Hill, although
the Rebels seized some trenches on Culp s Hill.
By about 10:30 p.m., the day s fighting came to an end. The Federals had lost some ground during the
Rebel onslaught but still held the strong defensive position along Cemetery Ridge.
Both sides regrouped and counted their causalities while the

The Kingdom of Heaven
The plot of this movie can be very well defined as a romantic quest for what is right and just in the
world at that time. The film starts off in the early 12th century with a blacksmith called Balian of
Ibelin (who is actually an artificier, or military engineer) that has just lost his wife to suicide and is
given the chance to go to the Holy Land to seek forgiveness for her sin by his long lost father Godfrey
of Ibelin. This becomes his secondary goal upon arriving in Jerusalem because soon after the start of
their journey, Balian s father dies and passes on his legacy to Balian making him the new Baron of

In fact, it is said that when Guy failed to attack the Muslims in 1183, Baldwin went into a fit of anger
because he wanted them all dead. The movie makes it seem as though Baldwin wanted to keep peace
between the two groups but that was not true because really, he could not stand the Muslims and
would do almost anything to keep the Holy Land out of their hands.
When it comes to Saladin, the film makes it seem as though he was a man of tolerance and respect
when in reality, he took pleasure in watching the decapitation of hundreds of christen soldiers and
civilians alike. Through out his time as ruler of the Muslims, Saladin Preached jihad(or holy war) on
the Christians and made it very clear that his goal was to take Jerusalem by force and kill all of the
people living behind the walls and on the surrounding lands. Saladin as he is portrayed in the film is a
man who chooses to work together with the Christians to try to find a reasonable balance between
groups and holds them in high regard to himself.6 This is very far from any kind of truth at all.
I believe that this was such a big deal for groups when the movie came out because the film made it
seem as though both men wanted a somewhat peaceful solution to obtaining what they desired when
in fact, that was the last thing they wanted. Both men were very respectable from what I can tell, but

Sin In Puritan Society
Puritan Society and Views on Sin in The Scarlet Letter Hester Prynne was seen as the embodiment of
sin by the people of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Her act of adultery seemed to be the highest crime
of all, and she was punished daily for it. As if it was not enough to be sentenced to a full day of
constant humiliation in the presence of every citizen of the colony, they assured that she would live
through it again daily by attaching a scarlet letter A, representing the adulteress she was, to her chest.
Though Hester Prynne suffered greatly for her sin, her punishment and the actions she took afterward
reflected the beliefs, particularly surrounding sin, and ethics that were hidden in the Puritan society in
which she lived. We are shown ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of Hester s incrimination and her treatment, we can see the morals of the colony. When we
see the women waiting for Hester outside the prison, they gather in a group and think up horrible and
cruel punishments for Hester s sin saying, they should have put the brand of a hot iron or her forehead
(Hawthorne 30). They remark that the letter was stitched well but it is meant to laugh in the faces of
the noblemen (Hawthorne 32). Their view on the letter and rejection of Hester based on it is ironic
when she was later requested to make clothes for many in the town, including these women
(Hawthorne 47 137). The clothing Hester stitched was elaborate, much like the letter, and their
willingness to wear it shows that there is sin in everyone, and the Puritans way of dealing with theirs
was to demonize Hester in order to feel as if they were holy (Hawthorne 47). We also notice that in
some minds, there is no way to recover from sin. Hester goes out of her way to provide care to those
around her by nursing them when they were sick, but was sometimes met with a gibe in requital of
food brought regularly to his door, (Hawthorne 90). One might think that Hester has escaped the
shame of the letter when it takes on the meaning Able, reflecting her good deeds (Hawthorne 91).

Perception And Perception Of Perception
The term friendship is defined as a mutual strand of affection between two or more people. It is a
stronger form of interpersonal bond than an association. It is a link between people who show trust
and altruism with one another without the placement of sexual or physical intimacy that commonly
happens in a romantic relationship. Friends tend to share common interests, demographics,
backgrounds, and traits of the self. However, before we get to know a person, we use perception to
categorize them into a certain role. It often causes us to assume that the other party is superior or
inferior to us. We do this more often than not without even realizing we ve engaged in perception.
Perception played a very large part in the first meeting of my best friend, Cinda, and I. In Chapter 4:
Interpersonal Perception (Floyd, 2011), there are many examples of the ways in which people
instantly perceive another person as being one way or another. This exact thing happened when I met
Cinda. Our perceptions of one another were not complimentary or nice, in fact, we were practically
enemies at the time. Negativity bias, or the tendency to weigh negative information more heavily than
positive (Floyd, 2011), would describe what we felt with each other. We were unable to see anything
good or complimentary about the other. What exactly brought on these feelings? One might ask. Well,
embarrassingly enough, it all started with a boy; Cinda and I had never even spoke to each other.

  • 3. Stone Castle Research Paper Attacking Fire Fire was the best way to attack the early Motte and Bailey castles since they were made entirely of wood. The fire might be started by building a bonfire against the outer wooden fence (palisade) or, more usually, by archers shooting fire arrows into the castle. As the fire spread through the castle those living inside would be forced to leave allowing the attackers to take them prisoner or kill them. This was one of the reasons why Motte and Bailey castles were soon replaced by Stone Keep castles. Fire has little effect on a stone castle. Battering Ram The thick stone walls of the Stone Keep castles were difficult for men to knock down. Although pickaxes could be used against castles with thinner walls, it would take a very long time to knock a hole through a castle with very thick walls. The battering ram was particularly useful since the weight of several men would be put behind it. This would make it a considerable force that could seriously weaken and possibly destroy doors or walls. Ladders Ladders were used by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Medieval times, you d have found a drawbridge along part of this modern wooden bridge into Bodiam Castle. Curiously, the earliest drawbridge designs were fussier and a bit harder to explain. At the most basic level, they could just be an unsecured piece of long wood, which was removed when attackers were nearby. A different system worked a bit like a set of hands on a clock. The wooden drawbridge was rotated across the moat, like a big hand reaching from 3 o clock around to 6. Another system which we nowadays call the bascule was a see saw type arrangement, with a complex counterweight on either side to draw one side up whilst the other went ... Was The Boston Massacre A Massacre On March 5, 1770, indignant Boston colonists assembled on King Street, rocketing snowballs and launching stones at the British soldiers stationed in the English city. The rebels heckled the troops, threatening them with weapons and ominous declarations, inducing defensive military action by the British, leading to the deaths of five colonial rebels...Let s try that again. On March 5, 1770, passionate Boston colonists gathered on King Street to discuss the inequitable, prejudiced taxes enacted by their tyrannical mother country. The British soldiers embarked on a fervid rampage, terrorizing the colonial people with hostile words and menacing attacks. The altercation ended with innocent colonists splattered on the icy ground, the pure snow now stained with burgundy blood, their frosty bodies pierced with lethal bullets, their brisk breaths reduced to clouds of death... Much better. If you were educated in the United States of America, you know the Boston Massacre as the slaughtering of innocent Patriots fighting for liberty, for justice, for freedom. Yet if you are British, the Boston Massacre is an irrelevant event in your Civil War. The victors dictate history, therefore, perspective is skewed and history is fabricated. • 9. Pros And Cons Of The French And Indian War These disgusting, filthy colonists think that they are in control. I mean honestly, what do they think they know about running a colony and making people pay taxes after a war. They need to understand that being run by the British is the only way they can survive. On top of that this guy named Benjamin Franklin thinks he can unite the colonies by making a poster. They don t need unity, they need a ruler that can guide them through our economic troubles.Join or Die? What was he thinking anyways? The French and Indian War was an expensive war we need to pay off the debt somehow. Were not being unreasonable anyways,. How much harm could a couple of taxes do anyways? The colonists are making too much of a big deal over nothing. For example the tea act which puts a tax on tea is fair for the colonists and even beneficial. For instance the price of tea has actually gone down instead of going up. And who cares if the East India Company has a monopoly over the industry. People in the colonies could always find a new job. Furthermore the declaratory act may even help the colonies since the great and powerful British parliament has full control of the colonies. Finally the reaction to the quartering act is completely inappropriate. Those soldiers fought their hardest to protect the colonies carry the colonists through battle. The least they can do is give them the respect and dignity that they rightfully deserve. There are around 10,000 soldiers in the colonies and they need a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. A Diverse Pool Of Candidates Gabrielle Ivester English 300 Professor Passal 16 September 2015 This upcoming presidential election includes a diverse pool of candidates, with a wide variety of opinions coming from different backgrounds. There is one candidate that stands out among the rest: Vermont senator Bernie Sanders. He has decades of experience in politics, which is immensely important for someone holding the position of President. During his time in public service he has demonstrated that he is committed, strong, productive, fair, and honest. Sanders relies on his policies and ideas significantly more than flaunting a charming personality to gain support, and he is able to do this because he has always put a lot of consideration into the decisions he makes. Furthermore, he has always been a strong supporter of quality of opportunity, which is the political ideal advocating the view that the assignment of individuals to places in the social hierarchy is determined by some form of competitive process; all members of society are eligible to compete on equal terms. As president, Sanders would take many steps toward improving this aspect of society. He recognizes that currently there is great disparity in the balance of power, and he has consistently fought towards making the U.S.A. a country where everyone is well taken care of and has access to what they need. If Sanders becomes president, he will fight for everyone to have an equal chance of achieving their own American Dream. One of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hester Prynne Heroism One of the most enduring conflicts concerning Nathaniel Hawthorne s novel The Scarlet Letter is over whose story is primarily being told: Hester Prynne s or Arthur Dimmesdale s. Hester s feminine heroism tends to domineer the novel in contrast to the distraught clergyman, so often at a loss in the complexities of human existence. Hawthorne illustrates Dimmesdale s relentless strive towards immortality brought on by the strict repression of Puritan society, all the while maintaining the transcendental impression that protests his irrational means of coping with guilt. • 18. Definition Essay On Humor Humor is not something new to us. In fact, the use of humor is as old as the use of communication itself, and just like language, it has undergone some phenomenal changes thanks to our cultural differences. Many factors such as age, personal experience, geographic location and even level of education play a part in our use of humor. A simple joke one person from one area may find hilarious could get completely different results from someone from somewhere else. Whether or not someone finds a joke amusing is ultimately determined by their interpretation of the joke. Since our interpretations are filtered by a cultural context, our culture is a major factor on how humor is used around us. During the renaissance there were 3 significant figures, who were Andreas Vesalius who was famous for his knowledge in anatomy, Ambroise Paré who was famous for his advances in surgery, and William Harvey who was famous for working out how the body worked (physiology). This had a limited impact because likewise to Vesalius, it did not make anyone healthier at the time, and it made more of a long term impact on medicine. Although his book is very useful for us nowadays, at the time people would not know how to approach it, and really wouldn t make much of an impact on the people s health. In conclusion, the main reason that I believe is the answer to not having much of a change in the Renaissance is the people s attitude to change. For example, even though they knew deep down that something wasn t working, they would still go ahead and use it because of the fact that it was what they were used to. • 39. Perception And Perception Of Perception The term friendship is defined as a mutual strand of affection between two or more people. It is a stronger form of interpersonal bond than an association. It is a link between people who show trust and altruism with one another without the placement of sexual or physical intimacy that commonly happens in a romantic relationship.
