Uktena Research Paper
Resembling many of the other cultures that we have been learning about and discussing during the
course of the semester, the Cherokee have stories explaining the formation of the universe, have a
creator, a trickster, and a collection of various other interesting myths. The mythology of a culture
results in oneness within the community and a sense of homogeneity that is difficult to achieve by any
other means. The agriculture of the Cherokee requires cooperation between the members of the
community and rejects being selfish and only looking out for the wellbeing of oneself or one family
member. Many myths begin by trying to explain the beginnings of the universe or how everything that
they know to be true came to be. The Cherokee explain this with their creator ... Show more content

An Uktena is a dragon like and horned serpent, it has been said that the first Uktena transformed from
a human man in a failed attempt of assassinating the sun. Most of the tales that the Cherokee have that
involve the Uktena involve a great battle with a hero slaying this monster. The Uktena are malicious
and very deadly monsters that put up a very big fight when encountered with them. Those who know
say that the Uktena is a great snake, as large around as a tree trunk, with horns on its head, and a
bright, blazing crest like a diamond upon its forehead, and scales glittering like sparks of fire. It has
rings or spots of color along its whole length, and can not be wounded except by shooting in the
seventh spot from the head, because under this spot are its heart and its life. The blazing diamond is
called Ulunsuti, Transparent, and he who can win it may become the greatest wonder worker of the
tribe, but it is worth a mans life to attempt it, for whoever is seen by the Uktena is so dazed by the
bright light that he runs toward the snake instead of trying to escape. (James

Tax Depreciation Myths
DEBUNKING TAX DEPRECIATION MYTHS
There is a lot of ambiguity surrounding laws regarding tax depreciation deductions. Many people fail
to claim their full returns due to simple misunderstandings regarding these laws. Depreciation is the
key to augmenting cash flow on a residential or commercial property. We will take a look at some of
the prevailing myths and debunk them.
Myth #1 You can only depreciate new properties
An investment property does not necessarily have to be brand new in order to attract depreciation
deductions. If you have an older property that was built around 1985 (when the building allowance
came into place) you can still claim depreciation value. It is worth pursuing and enquiring to see what
might be available for you.
Myth #2 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Works of plumbing, waterproofing, and electrical wiring can also be estimated and the cost can be
claimed, provided the work was completed after the 18th of July 1985 for residential properties and
July 1982 for commercial properties.
Myth #4 Deductions are only available at the time you make the change
According to ATO rulings, from the completed date of construction, any building eligible to claim
capital works deductions has a maximum effective life of 40 years. Investors, can, therefore, claim up
to 40 years of property depreciation on a new building. Older properties which still has a balance of
some years from the 40 years period can also be claimed.
Myth #5 The only items that depreciate are Plant and Equipment
In addition to the Plant and Equipment, capital work deductions (known as Division 43 or building
write off) is also claimable. It comprises of the structural element of a building and is based on
historical constructions and includes construction materials.
Be informed and dispel the anomalies surrounding tax depreciation to make it a tool of financial

A Study on Offer Rejection at Wipro Technologies Ltd
A STUDY ON OFFER REJECTION (ABORT RATE) AT WIPRO TECHNOLOGIES LTD. *Dr. G.
Ramanaiah ** Priya Xavier
Abstract
Backing out of job offers is a big issue especially in country like India . Good amount of time and
effort is wasted to find a new replacement and projects can and do get delayed and all these translates
to revenue loss. This study was conducted at Wipro among 134 aborted candidates using structured

It has 66,000+ employees, serves 592 clients, and has 46 development centers across globe.
1.5 Rationale for the study
Backing out of job offers is a big issue especially in country like India because of the bullish job
market. Market has become filthy now a days, guys are playing with the Offer Letters... they try to get
one offer and play around with other companies to get more than what he had in that offer.
Recruitment is an expensive activity. Every time a candidate backs out the recruitment process has to
be initiated all over again. Good amount of time and effort is wasted to find a new replacement and
projects can and do get delayed and all these translates to revenue loss. But most important of all is the
loss of client s trust. This is intangible and will have long term adverse effect vis à vis client vendor
relationship. Hence the study to find the areas where WIPRO fails in retaining recruited candidates .
2.REVIEW OF LITERATURE
With globalization which is heightening competition, organizations must continue to develop tangible
products and provide services which are based on strategies created by employees. These employees
are extremely crucial to the organisation since their value to the organization is essentially intangible
and not easily replicated (Meaghan et al., 2002).
There is no standard framework for understanding the candidates abort process as whole, a wide range
of factors have been found

Southwest Airlines Discrimination Case Essay
Southwest Airlines Discrimination Case
Recently, a Southwest Airlines discrimination issue surfaced resulting from comments expressed by a
Southwest pilot during a private conversation. The two minute conversation transpired on March 25,
2011 and was inadvertently broadcast over a Federal Aviation Administration air traffic control
frequency in the Houston, Texas area during a flight from Austin, Texas to San Diego, California.
According to the accusations, the comments were perceived as demeaning and derogatory with regard
to the Southwest Airlines flight attendant employee group.

from both sides of the argument. The legal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The airline permitted the pilot to return to work after completing diversity training. The airline
believes the incident was an isolated case and considered the conversation as private .
The Southwest Airlines flight Attendants Union have considered filing a federal workplace
discrimination complaint with the Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission based upon
the statements made by the pilot. Despite and official apology offered by Southwest Airlines
management, the union believes the airlines response and apology falls short of expectations. The
union is calling on Southwest Airlines to address this problem throughout our company, not as an
isolated incident, but as a mandate that our workplace will be free from discrimination of all forms as
a condition of continued employment (Bingham). Despite the position of the union, Southwest
Airlines management believes the diversity training and the public apology was an appropriate
response to the incident.
Two possible actions must be considered to determine whether this incident involves any statutory
activity. First, did the pilot violate any statutory laws by transmitting obscene, indecent, or profane
language over ATC frequencies, and second, did the pilot provide a solid basis for a workplace
discrimination complaint as expressed by the flight attendant union; both possibilities appear plausible
based on the information

The Characterization Of Ralph In Lord Of The Flies By...
Have you ever thought about what you would do if you had the opportunity to be head manager or
chief of whatever it is you love to do? Are you positive that you have the experience to overcome the
responsibility or even the consequences? In Lord of the Flies, William Golding, uses the
characterization of Ralph to represent the overall leadership needed in order for the infants to survive
throughout the journey. It all embarks when a plane carrying a group of boys is shot down over the
Pacific and the pilot of the plane is killed. Fortunately, many of the boys survive the crash and find
themselves deserted on an uninhabited island, where later on they discover that they are alone without
adult supervision. This instantly leads to chaotic trepidation, which means an alliance would be likely
mandatory. Leadership is a key factor utilized in the story and basically without this hook, the rest of
the minors would be nearly prone to their surroundings. This would lead to a huge conflict right off
the back and affect their chances of getting off the island. Ralph expresses his confidence immediately
by feeling like he has the courage of being the leader. In the beginning, he automatically considers
himself as an option for the others to elect. In the story, William states, Jack started to protest but the
clamor changed from the general wish for a chief to an election by acclaim of Ralph himself. (15)
.This signifies the conviction Ralph senses over himself with full

Good and bad a requirement in all superhero stories, without either one of them the story just remains
incomplete. Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons two well known writers in the graphic story medium. Both
authors worked together to create a fantastic piece of work; The Watchmen. In the graphic novel,
Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, the central theme portrayed throughout the graphic
novel is the good versus bad. Throughout history, us humans have tried to obtain powers over others,
for example, the World Wars, British rule in India, Rwanda Genocide; they were all a big fight for
power. Some used the power for good things while other used it for evil things. It isn t necessary for a

This confusion of being good is show in the characters of Rorschach, Nite Owl, and Silk Spectre II.
The character of Rorschach had a very dark childhood as he rejected is by his mother causing him to
always be against women. He s very closed minded this is seen when Dr. Manhattan agrees with
Ozymandias s plan to bring the world together. (Moore 405 406). Rorschach becomes a psychopath
when it comes to dealing with criminals; he always wants to get rid of the bad. Rorschach punishes
those who he thinks are evil with no remorse and according to him he is the real definition of heroism.
In Rorschach s journal, we see the inner thoughts of his character and psyche... Rorschach s journal
entries and the crumbing morale of the surrounding city offer the reader a harsh and frank critique.
(Cummings 21). That showed that the point of his journal was just to provide the reader with harsh
truths. Rorschach believes that humans have no value and the only point of life is to make sure that
there is justice. In

Define Worldview And What Happens To A Human Being
INTRODUCTION Waking up in the morning thinking about why, how, when and what is the
importance of the world we live in and the interactions with others mean to us. Defining worldview is
essentially a commitment, a fundamental orientation of the heart, that can be expressed as a story or in
a set of presuppositions that we hold about the basic constitution of reality, and that provides the
foundation on which we live and move and have our being (Sire, 2016).On the other hand spirituality
holds the essence of our existence on this earth. Spirituality makes someone feel the connection to
something. This is where our beliefs comes in. It depends on which religion you belong to, to define
spirituality better. Spirituality is the wellspring of divinity that pulsates, dances, and flows as the
source and essence of every soul. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Believing that God created man in His own image is what I believe. Some people view the human
being as a highly complex machine, a sleeping god, a person made in the image of God, a naked ape
(Sire, 2016, p12). Whatever people believe, God is the answer to this question and they is no doubt
that God created a human being.
What Happens to a Person at Death? Most religions do not believe life after death. Most of them
believe in incarnation. But as a Christian, I believe they is heaven and hell. If you are living right with
God, your soul goes back to heaven but if not, you go hell. As the bible says in Revelation 20:10 And
the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false
prophet [are], and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever (King James Bible, 2016, p.6).
Why is it Possible to Know Anything at All? You understanding about the existence of God and the
world depends on what you believe. As bible talks about the creation of the world and that God exists
is what I have been taught and know since I was

Characteristics Of The Tiger
In The Jungle Book, the tiger named Shere Khan plays the villain. Although the movie makes the tiger
look evil, it s actually just a normal animal trying to survive in the wild like any other. Tigers are one
of the biggest cats and they are carnivores. They have a territorial behavior and they are sadly
endangered. Adult tigers are huge. They are 2.3 to 4 feet tall. Tigers also weigh a lot. A male tiger
weighs 200 to 670 pounds. Female tigers weigh from 140 to 370 pounds. Cubs can weigh 2.2 pounds
at birth. As Whitfield puts it The largest of the big cats, the tiger has a massive, muscular body and
powerful limbs. (pg 147). Tigers are massive animals. Tigers also have long bodies. A male s body
length is from 8.2ft to 13ft. Females can be as long as 6.6 to 9ft. They can live from 20 to 26 years.
Tigers can have two to four cubs every two years. Also according to the WWF On average, tigers give
birth to two to four cubs every two years. If all the cubs in one litter die, a second litter may be
produced within five months. (WWF,2017) . Tigers are known as one of the largest cats in the world.
Also they are orange with black stripes, kind of like a zebra, but a zebra is white. No two tigers will
have the same number of markings on their coats. Since, a tiger is a large cat, they will need to eat a
lot of meat. According to Amelia Meyers in her website tigers.org, tigers have 30 teeth, which...help
them to grip struggling prey, break bones and rip flesh. Tigers

12 Domains Of Culture Technology And Material 2 Essay
BACKGROUND PAPER
ON
12 DOMAINS OF CULTURE: TECHNOLOGY MATERIAL
1. There s no arguing that technology has helped make life easier. Americans use it every day to
communicate, travel, build and entertain themselves, but is it all positive? Does technology replace
that which makes us human? Is technology harmful to the preservation of cultural values? Think about
these questions as the effects of technology and material on American culture are explored. In the first
point, the production element of technology and material will be covered, how it s thought up and how
it s made. Then in the second point, the adoption aspect of technology and material will be examined,
with how it ends up in the hands of everyone and becomes a part of ... Show more content on

This is how technology is adopted into American culture. Before a new technology is sold to the
public, private companies must consider the perceived benefit, the ease of use, immediacy of benefits,
price, riskiness and return on investmentii. The motivations of private companies to make a profit are
the primary factor considered in whether or not a new technology will be released, regardless of how
much the technology is wanted or needed. There is no formal voting process that takes place for the
public to decide what new technologies will be implemented into society. It all relies on private
companies to sell them if they believe they can make money. The argument can be made though that
the material and technology that consumers buy is them directly voting on what is adopted into
American culture.
4. Arriving at the conclusion; It was explained how the production of technology and material has
affected American culture. There have been numerous advances in technology that promise to make
life easier and change how Americans operate as a culture. It was also explained how technology and
material is adopted into society. Private companies are the primary force and they are motivated only
by the promise to make a profit. As technology continues to advance and make lives easier, society is
increasingly faced with the growing dilemma that was posed in the beginning. Will technology

Money In Ayn Rand s Atlas Shrugged
In Ayn Rand s novel Atlas Shrugged the character Francisco d Anconia views money as a tool and a
symbol; something that can only come about by the hard work and ambition of men. He feels that a
love of money is justified, and is liberal in his employment it because he sees no arbitrary value in
money itself. This contrasts sharply with the view of James Taggart who sees money as a necessary
evil; something that must be controlled, and forced to work with the people. James Taggart is afraid of
money and what it has the power to do, so he attempts to limit it. You can see how this reflects Ayn
Rand s own views on the difference between communism and capitalism.
The difference in views between these two men is at the most basic level; that Francisco wants to
make money while Taggart wants to have money. As I said before, to Francisco and to all the good
characters money is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Taggart they remain in denial and self deluded that what they are doing is for the public good . This is
a reflection of Ayn Rand s own views on communism; the belief that money must be controlled, and
that if left to its own it will undoubtedly become a negative force, a detriment to society. Because they
cannot understand why money is valuable (though they acknowledge that it is) they seek to have
money as opposed to making money. This is why they attempt to freeze the state of the nation, so that
they may remain in an eternal state of having not realizing that there must be motion and progress for

Surrogacy Controversy
With the increase in the abilities and forms of reproductive technologies over the past 30 years, the
ethics of using them still needs to be further understood. An example of a new form of reproductive
technology is surrogacy. The act of a woman conceiving and carrying an embryo or fetus for an
individual or a couple is defined as surrogacy (White, 2016). The ethics of this method of
reproduction with the nuances of potential payment options and the effects on the parties involved, has
to evolve with the updates in technology and knowledge. The controversy surrounding surrogacy is in
relation to the legality and ethics of paying a surrogate mother to carry and birth a child for an
individual or couple.
Commercial surrogacy should be legislated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin, the use of commercial transnational surrogacy increases the complications of the legislation
in Canada. As the world becomes more interconnected, the ability for Canadian citizens to find
commercial surrogates in other countries is an expanding option. Unfortunately, due to rapidly
changing legislation around surrogacy in many countries, parents and their child born from
international surrogates may have difficulty leaving the child s country of birth together (Lozanski,
2015). This uncertainty of the safety for the children of Canadians, combined with the potential for
extreme exploitation of international woman due to a lack of regulations, results in an unsafe
environment (Lozanski, 2015). In addition, due to the decreased costs of surrogacy in Canada, as a
result of commercialized surrogacy being illegal and Canada s public health insurance, the costs for
people internationally to use surrogates in Canada is reduced. This may cause shortages of surrogates
in Canada and cause Canadian taxpayers to pay for international people to come to Canada to have
their children. As Canada s public health insurance covers the cost of the surrogate s medical
expenses, taxpayers are paying for international citizens to have their children in Canada. By
introducing, some form of commercialized surrogacy in Canada this could reduce the strain on the

The Importance of Booster Seats and Seat Belts
In 2011 there were 650 deaths of children who were not properly buckled or in a car seat when riding
in a vehicle, with the use of a booster that could have been extremely reduced. Families are out on
road trips so much more than in the past, which means that children are in the car far more than they
used to be ( Booster ... 1). Almost 7, 000 children were involved in accidents in 2006 and 45% of them
were not restrained and received fatal injuries ( Statistics... 6). In 2006, there were approximately 5
child fatalities daily ( Statistics... 2).This number could be lowered if children would be placed in
proper booster or car seats for their age and buckled soundly. Most children that are not buckled are
from families where the parent does not buckle up ( Child Passenger Safety 2). When in a car, only
about 21% of children ages 4 8 years of age are occasionally riding in a booster ( Child Passenger
Safety Statistics 4).These precautions help children to be secure in case of an accident. In an article
published by the CDC, they stated, Buckling children in age and size appropriate car seats, booster
seats, and seat belts reduces the risk of serious and fatal injuries ( Child Passenger Safety 4). The laws
state that all children should be in a car seat, for a reason. Use of seat belts are important but the
combination of seat belts and boosters together, are proven to help keep children from deaths and
injuries in accidents, especially when they are used

Cabaret Play Analysis
Cabaret (1998) by Joe Masteroff, John Kander and Fred Ebb is a thrilling tale set in pre WWI Berlin.
The first showing of Cabaret on Broadway was in 1966, but an earlier rendition of the play, entitled I
Am a Camera premiered in 1951, in London, England (Smith). Each version of Cabaret has
differences, the 1998 version specifically has a darker edge than the earlier versions. Cabaret has long
been one of my favorite musicals and I felt very honored to get to be a part of CMC s production. The
main theme of the play is adaptation. This is a main theme because the story of Cabaret highlights a
very tumultuous time in history and the characters were forced to adapt to the changes; a skill that
everyone in the world must learn to do. Sopris Theatre ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most important dances in the entire show is If You Could See Her . Sung by the Emcee, If
You Could See Her is the last comedic scene of the show, mainly because the Emcee s partner is a
Gorilla. I had the honor of both choreographing this dance and playing the Gorilla in the show. I made
the decision while choregraphing to play off the initial humor of the Gorilla, making my movements
very grounded and jerky. The song however is not truly happy and the Emcee states at the end that if
you could see her through my eyes, referring to the Gorilla, she wouldn t look Jewish at all . I wanted
this line to have impact with the audience. To achieve this, I choreographed the Emcee and myself not
moving, fist looking at each other and then looking to the audience, almost accusingly when he refers
to the Gorilla as being Jewish. In dance some of most powerful moments are when there is no
movement, and I used this idea to my advantage in this dance. I was very satisfied with the gasps and
reactions of shock that we were able to achieve in that moment. I believe that the use of dance in
Cabaret help make the messages so impactful and was so excited to help create the dances for CMC s

Ethics, Sexual Harassment, And Bullying
I felt very connected to this week s discussions, not because I ve personally been involved in
discrimination, sexual harassment, or bullying but because I spent a lot of time managing through
these issues when I worked as an Operations Manager for Borders, Inc. At any given time I had ~250
employees and managers in a distribution center reporting to me on three shifts, six days a week. It
was rare that I didn t have some pending issue that required a Human Resources perspective and these
issues were very common themes. I ve never understood why someone would choose to expend
energy on any of these actions but always considered my role as one that could protect others when it
did occur. As we ve discussed, having established policies that are frequently communicated allows
employers to react swiftly to correct any issues that arise. This was the case when I worked at Borders
and it is today at HCA so I feel comfortable everything possible is being done to discourage and
prevent these actions from occurring. Privacy is a very touchy subject these days and the knife seems

In 1900, there were over 1.6 million people living in Chicago, the country s second largest city. Of
those 1.6 million, nearly 30% were immigrants. Most immigrants came to the United States with little
or no money at all, in hope of making a better life for themselves. A city like Chicago offered these
people jobs that required no skill. However, the working and living conditions were hazardous and the
pay was barely enough to survive on. This is the bases for Upton Sinclair s book, The Jungle. Sinclair
agreed to investigate working conditions in Chicago s meatpacking plants, for the Socialist journal,
Appeal to Reason, in 1904. The Jungle, published in 1906, is ... Show more content on

They needed help from the government and local community. In other words, machine politics.
Politicians played an important role in the political machine. In order to maintain this role, they
received substantial kickbacks from the owners of the factories. They would recruit people to help the
immigrants become citizens of the United States, and then pay the immigrants to vote for a specific
candidate, often several times. Before the Progressive Party materialized, there were just the
Democrats and the Republicans, and the one got the office which bought the most votes. Readers were
not concerned with the treatment of workers, as portrayed by The Jungle, because they really didn t
care for the working class, or more specifically, immigrants. However, readers were shocked when
they discovered exactly how their meat was processed and prepared. Sinclair used just as much, if not
more, gruesome detail in describing the products the American public was consuming, as he did when
describing the workplace, living conditions, politics, society and Chicago s scenery. In a futile attempt
to build up the readers sympathy toward the wage slaves, Sinclair also details the process in which
foods not related to the meat packing industry are prepared. For example, he writes, their pale blue
milk...was watered, and doctored with formaldehyde. The controversy over food

The Catbird Seat By Psy.
Recently, on the day of the talent show, I was asked to dance with a disabled student to a previous hit
titled Gangnam Style by Psy. As we were practicing the dance, he started to tease me repeatedly and I
wanted to say something, but I stopped myself because I knew it would not be acceptable. Although I
knew he was socially challenged, I took offense to his comments and felt that he was acting
inappropriately. David Birnbaum, writer of the essay, The Catbird Seat , which was published in the
New York Times Lives section, argues that as a disabled person he is allowed to take advantage of his
rights and has special privileges when the Americans with Disabilities Act is not fulfilled. Birnbaum s
essay discusses how he felt after becoming a quadriplegic and how the special treatment he receives
equals up to what he has faced from being handicapped. Also, Birnbaum concluded his essay by
describing the division between America s social hierarchies. The writer intended to catch the minds
of a more prestigious audience, particularly a group of scholars who have excess time to read the
newspaper. Through personal experiences and an unapologetic tone, Birnbaum conveys his overall
argument that the special privileges of the disabled community equal up to the pain and suffering they
encounter on a daily basis. Firstly, Birnbaum uses personal experiences to prove his stance that it is
permissible for people with disabilities to have certain advantages. Since Birnbaum is

Essay on Mountaintop Removal Mining
Appalachia, a vast, beautiful panoply of lush green mountains. At least, most of the thin line of peaks
that make up the Appalachian Mountains used to be that way. Currently, the continued spread of a
method of coal extraction known as mountaintop removal mining has plagued areas of the eastern
United States, mainly including the state of West Virginia. Throughout its increasing stages of
implementation, mountaintop removal mining has caused numerous hampering effects, including
causing serious harm to nearby residents, and polluting a once pure environment. Because of this,
mountaintop removal mining needs to be limited in order to preserve the natural state of the
Appalachian Mountains. Mountaintop removal mining has been around for ... Show more content on

Additionally, the damage has already been done to the mountain and nearby streams, and thereby the
reclamation process is only performed in an attempt to make the mountain look slightly nicer, but still
a far cry from the peak s original grandeur.
Valleys aren t the only natural landscaping to be affected though; streams that had once been clean
have now been polluted with waste, or have been buried completely by mountain rock. And when
water becomes corrupt, nearby life begins to suffer as well. Take the people living near mountain
removal sites as an example. As the nearby water becomes dirtied, humans must watch as their clean,
flowing tap water turns to a murky brown or even black substitute (Burning the Future: Coal in
America). And think about it, this is the water they use every single day to bathe, drink, clean dishes,
wash surfaces, sanitize hands, and cook with. When the water is this unclean, is it really doing its job?
Is this really the water a living being deserves to be using?
Regardless of the negative affects mountaintop removal mining is causing, what kind of people are the
perpetrators behind this method? As one example, there is a coal mining company called Massey
Energy based in Central Appalachia which provides a fair sum of the nation s coal reserves ( About Us
). Through their mountaintop mining exploits, they cause widespread damage to the environment
around them. Evidence of this is

Compare And Contrast The Indian Camp And The Doctor s Wife
Ernest Hemingway was a writer who captured the spirit of his generation. Hemingway wrote The
Indian Camp and The Doctor and the Doctor s Wife . Indian Camp is a story about a boy named Nick
and his father who went to the Indian Camp to help deliver the baby. While there they witnessed the
baby s father commit suicide. This sparked Nick s curiosity with death. Both stories detail Nick s
coming of age into adulthood. In the Doctor and the Doctor s Wife Nick s father wants Dick, Eddy,
and Billy to go cut up the wood that is on the beach but Dick tries to tell him that it would by

An Indian woman had been in labor for 2 days, and was in pain and screaming. While the woman
helped her the men went off. The man had moved off up the road to sit in the dark and smoke out of
range of the noise she made. (92) This is sexism because they left the women to care for the Indian
woman that was having a baby. They think it is for women to care for her and did not help at all.
Instead they tried to go far away so they didn t even have to listen to her pain. Also sexism is in the
article Forget the Legend and Read the Work by Margaret Bauer. Therefore not only do I not dispute
the opinion that the woman in labor is a mere prop in Indian Camp, but also I defend Hemingway s
using her as a vehicle toward Nick s potential development and a means of revealing Nick s fathers
callousness. Discussing the issue that women in much of Hemingway s work are not very important of
and by themselves (Bauer 2). In the Doctor and the Doctor s Wife, sexism is portrayed by Hemingway
when he describes the interaction between the wife and the doctor. He leaves her without answering
her questions and goes off to hunt with his son. Hemingway can be determined as a sexist by the way
he portrays the women in his stories as weak and inferior to men. Some people believe that sexism
was part of Hemingway s life because he was married 4 times and had many mistresses and because
of this and the way that he writes he is viewed as a sexist. An example of masculinity versus
femininity in the Doctor and the Doctor s Wife is shown when the doctor is cleaning his shot gun and
the wife says you didn t say anything to anger him did you? and the doctor replies no . This implies
that the wife is weak because she does not want a confrontation. Nick chooses to go with his father
because he wants to be seen as a man and like his father. The doctor wants to feel like a tough man but

Graduated Driver License
Within the United States and throughout the world we have young men and women driving for the
first time. Furthermore, there are some concerns with young drivers not being responsible enough to
handle the operations of a vehicle without doing harm to themselves or someone else. Consequently,
we need to apply stronger restrictions on new drivers from the age of 16 21, in doing this the mortality
rate will begin to drop.
Graduated Driver License
The rate of vehicle incident is high among our youth. The Graduated Driver License or the GDL was
developed in the mid 90s in the United States to lower the incident rate. In the mid 1970s to the early
1990s the rate of mortality dropped from 390,000 to 280,000 deaths per year, but from 1992 to 2000
the rate has remained at a constant level. To address the issues, many states implemented a new
program called the GDL and recent study has been shown that this program is working. The study was

Monologue From The Great Gatsby
As I entered the fourth circle of hell the air around me shimmered, like I walked through an invisible
wall. Suddenly the world around me changed. I was in a large city filled with tall skyscrapers, cars and
people that walked hurriedly everywhere. I came across Fagin The Jew the old man who used Oliver

sin was. He explained that all my life I used others to get what I wanted, I did not think to care of the
consequences I just wanted as much treasures as I could get. Fagin then explained to me what his

doing that was to get as much money and possessions as possible . It was true, Gatsby was here
because of his greed. Even he himself new that. But it never stopped him from continuously falling
victim to it. Gatsby tells me that he wakes up every day in one of the most comfortable and soft beds
he has ever felt. In an extravagant hotel, with food covering every surface in the room. But as soon as
he leaves his bed, or touches the food, it disappears in his fingertips. He is surrounded by fancy

Designing A New Logo For The Company
The name change to Bayerische Motoren Werke compelled management to devise a new logo for the
company, therefore the famous BMW trademark is designed and patented at this time. However, they
remained true to the imagery of the previous Rapp Motorenwerke emblem (which was designed by
Karl s brother, Ottmar Rapp). Thus, both the old and the new logo were built up in the same way: the
company name was placed in a black circle, which was once again given a pictorial form by placing a
symbol within it. By analogy with this, the blue and white panels of the Bavarian national flag were
placed at the center of the BMW logo. Not until the late 1920s was the logo lent a new interpretation
as representing a rotating propeller. The BMW Trademark, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Symptoms And Treatment Of Ptsd Veterans
It is evident that reforms are necessary within the VA system and society in regards to PTSD and
veterans. How can the American veterans be better taken care of? I will focus on the following four
specific issues that are in need of reform,
1. How can wait times be decreased for veterans seeking mental health treatment?
2. How can the stigma attached to PTSD in veterans be eliminated?
3. How can veterans receive immediate assistance in times of crisis?
4. How can we ensure that diagnosed PTSD veterans will continue treatment after receiving full
monetary compensation?
Focusing on these research questions, I propose to conduct research on decreasing wait times for
PTSD related appointments, reducing, or eliminating, the stigma attached to PTSD in veterans,
providing a way for veterans to receive immediate PTSD crisis help, and a way to ensure that veterans
diagnosed with PTSD continue treatment.
Veterans often experience long wait times to schedule an appointment for PTSD. Through additional
research I have found that according to a study in 2003 by the American Legion, of approximately
300,000 veterans waiting for health care, over half of them had been waiting over eight months for an
appointment (American Legion, 2013). I further researched how many VA facilities in the United
States offer specialized treatment for PTSD. In all 50 states, and Washington, DC, there are a total of
139 facilities (US Department of Veterans Affairs, 2015). I propose to conduct a telephone

Gender And Gender Aspects Of Gender In Everyday Life
Gender in Everyday Life
Shyana Burks Diggins
Community College of Aurora
Gender in Everyday Life In today s culture, I see gender being a person s master status. In most
aspects of my life, I notice that gender overrides other statuses such as my race or occupation. I
believe gender does this because of the way it is instilled in every social institution. I imagine it is
hard to inquire about my experiences without it coming from a woman s perspective. It s not what it
means to be college educated, but what does it mean to be a college educated woman, and not what
does it mean to be black, but what does it mean to be a black woman. Parenthood is near impossible to
be understood without seeing it through a gender experience. Although gender is a social construction,
it dictates individuals in a way that I cannot imagine any other social concept could. As I recorded my
actions throughout the day, I realized that there are a lot of them that are dictated by my gender. I
recorded over 50 actions and I am sure that I could have recorded differently depending on the kind of
day. I recorded around 10 15 actions just from the daily aspect of getting ready and clothing. For
example, I thought I chose my clothing depending on how I felt that day, but I realized small things
like my choice of underwear was never of my volition. Depending on the kind of pants I wore, I
wanted to avoid a panty line not only for fashion s sake but because that will affect future interactions
with the other sex. With my experience, I see that men pick the underwear that will suit their comfort
level, like if they want to wear briefs for exercising or boxers for a less active setting. Some of my
actions I instantly knew were gendered, like my application of makeup to uphold a feminine standard
or even the change of inflection of my voice when I talk to customers on the phone. As a woman and a
consumer, I know that when I speak to a representative about an issue I expect empathy. A
representative conveys that through smiling through the phone . Supervisors and trainers at my job
admit that this trait is better accomplished by women because if we sound any other way we sound off
putting and ingenuine. This

Postive Effects of Medieval Social Classes Essay
The development of social classes in medieval England affected life for the people in many positive
ways. It served as a means of organization to base their daily lives off of, and also gave the peasants
and trade classes protection from the rulers and the clergy class in return for their labor and allegiance
( Quizlet ). Life in the Middle Ages was based on the framework of social classes so they could
flourish socially and economically. The British class structure was a configuration of five main
classes. The King owned all the land and distributed portions of it to his nobles. He was part of the
ruling class, along with the Pope and the rest of the royalty (Pattie). The Pope was the religious ruler

Monks were the scholars of this time period, and they spent the majority of their time praising God
and attending prayer meetings and church. The last group of people in the clergy class was the nuns.
They weren t as intellectual as the monks, so their jobs involved catering to the people by nursing the
sick to health in the infirmary, educating young children, and caring for orphans (People of the Middle
Ages ). The next group of people was in the middle class. They were the citizens of the town, and they
acquired high amounts of money so that their families could live comfortable lives. The mothers in
these households were not obligated to work because the man of the house could financially support
the whole family ( Middle Class ). Sometimes they had servants to help the women with household
chores and duties like cooking, cleaning, and caring for the children. This class also included shipmen,
cooks, and high class merchants (Schwartz). Below the middle class was the trade class, which
included merchants and craftsmen. Men involved with retail would travel great distances to achieve
authority and power over certain trade routes ( Middle Ages: The Medieval Social Classes ). The trade
class hugely impacted the towns and the people because their income and trading skills helped to
stabilize the economy. Peasants and the middle class often disagreed with the work of the merchants
because the priests and the bishops were highly against it. They believed

The Effectiveness of Home Schooling
I. Introduction
According to the National Home Education Research Institute (NHERI), the number of
homeschoolers rose up to 300,000 in 1992 to an estimated 2 million in 2003. Homeschooling has been
around since 1960s, created by John Holt, a humanist. He believes that homeschooling is one of the
greatest educational movements of our time. Supporters love the idea of students being homeschooled
rather than being exposed to public schools because they believe that homeschooling students will
boost their test scores and help lessen their insecurities. However, others believe homeschooling
students lack the ability to socialize and interact with the community. ... Show more content on

Even, significant figures such as Senator Rick Santorum and Rep. Marilyn Musgrave encouraged the
religious home schooling movement. They all helped overturn the law that banned homeschooling,
which is now legal in all 50 states.
III. Religious Purposes There are many motivating factors as to why people support homeschooling.
One reason for homeschooling students is to ensure their child s values are the same as theirs.
Homeschoolers are taught to think in a certain way and to believe certain things. Many parents have
chosen home schooling in an effort to encourage specific religious values, and in some cases to avoid
exposing their children to perceived cultural and irreligious precepts and ideologies (Stevenson 3).
Parents want to protect their children from subjection to ideas of religious values. They want to raise
their children in a safe, controlled environment. The vast majority of individual homeschooling for
religious reasons are doing so to teach their children Christian values and principles. Although the
home schooling population is far from homogenous, it is fair to say that many parents who pull their
children out of traditional schools do so because they wish to protect them from exposure to ideas and
influences that they feel are incompatible with their own morals or religious values (Lee and
McMahon 3). They want to remove secular influences from their children s lives because they are
concerned that other

Introduction To Identity The Unknow Acid Solution
The purpose of this experiment is to identity the unknow acid solution through determining the Ka
value of the reaction experimentally. The colors of unknown acid 3 matches the colors of test tube 1,
with thymol blue being light pink, malachite green being dark green and crystal violet being cyan.
Comparing it to other 3 test tubes, test tube 2 has a similar result. Both test tube 3 and 4 have higher
Ph than 1 and 2, since thymol blue is yellow and crystal violet is purple in test tube 3, rose and blue in
test tube 4. Crystal violet is green in test tube 2, which shows that it has a lower ph than test tube 1.
So, the order of acidity from most acidic to least acidic is 2143. Dichloroacetic acid is the second
strongest in those 4 acids; this suggests that unknown acid 3 is dichloroacetic acid.

colorless. At a high ph level where the H3O concentration is low, the equilibrium shifts to the right,

strong acid strong base titration. In a weak acid and strong base titration, the equivalence point would
be above 7 due to the reaction occur between the conjugated base and water. This often makes the pH
value detectable by Phenolphthalein. In a strong acid and strong base titration where the equivalence
point is 7, the spike of pH around equivalence point is huge and all indicators at this range change

  • 2. Uktena Research Paper Resembling many of the other cultures that we have been learning about and discussing during the course of the semester, the Cherokee have stories explaining the formation of the universe, have a creator, a trickster, and a collection of various other interesting myths. The mythology of a culture results in oneness within the community and a sense of homogeneity that is difficult to achieve by any other means. The agriculture of the Cherokee requires cooperation between the members of the community and rejects being selfish and only looking out for the wellbeing of oneself or one family member. Many myths begin by trying to explain the beginnings of the universe or how everything that they know to be true came to be. The Cherokee explain this with their creator ... An Uktena is a dragon like and horned serpent, it has been said that the first Uktena transformed from a human man in a failed attempt of assassinating the sun. Most of the tales that the Cherokee have that involve the Uktena involve a great battle with a hero slaying this monster. The Uktena are malicious and very deadly monsters that put up a very big fight when encountered with them. Those who know say that the Uktena is a great snake, as large around as a tree trunk, with horns on its head, and a bright, blazing crest like a diamond upon its forehead, and scales glittering like sparks of fire. It has rings or spots of color along its whole length, and can not be wounded except by shooting in the seventh spot from the head, because under this spot are its heart and its life. The blazing diamond is called Ulunsuti, Transparent, and he who can win it may become the greatest wonder worker of the tribe, but it is worth a mans life to attempt it, for whoever is seen by the Uktena is so dazed by the bright light that he runs toward the snake instead of trying to escape. • 3. Tax Depreciation Myths DEBUNKING TAX DEPRECIATION MYTHS There is a lot of ambiguity surrounding laws regarding tax depreciation deductions. Many people fail to claim their full returns due to simple misunderstandings regarding these laws. Depreciation is the key to augmenting cash flow on a residential or commercial property. We will take a look at some of the prevailing myths and debunk them. Myth #1 You can only depreciate new properties An investment property does not necessarily have to be brand new in order to attract depreciation deductions. If you have an older property that was built around 1985 (when the building allowance came into place) you can still claim depreciation value. It is worth pursuing and enquiring to see what might be available for you. Myth #2 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Works of plumbing, waterproofing, and electrical wiring can also be estimated and the cost can be claimed, provided the work was completed after the 18th of July 1985 for residential properties and July 1982 for commercial properties. Myth #4 Deductions are only available at the time you make the change According to ATO rulings, from the completed date of construction, any building eligible to claim capital works deductions has a maximum effective life of 40 years. Investors, can, therefore, claim up to 40 years of property depreciation on a new building. Older properties which still has a balance of some years from the 40 years period can also be claimed. Myth #5 The only items that depreciate are Plant and Equipment In addition to the Plant and Equipment, capital work deductions (known as Division 43 or building write off) is also claimable. It comprises of the structural element of a building and is based on historical constructions and includes construction materials. It has 66,000+ employees, serves 592 clients, and has 46 development centers across globe. 1.5 Rationale for the study Backing out of job offers is a big issue especially in country like India because of the bullish job market. Market has become filthy now a days, guys are playing with the Offer Letters... they try to get one offer and play around with other companies to get more than what he had in that offer. Recruitment is an expensive activity. Every time a candidate backs out the recruitment process has to be initiated all over again. Good amount of time and effort is wasted to find a new replacement and projects can and do get delayed and all these translates to revenue loss. But most important of all is the loss of client s trust. This is intangible and will have long term adverse effect vis à vis client vendor relationship. Hence the study to find the areas where WIPRO fails in retaining recruited candidates . 2.REVIEW OF LITERATURE With globalization which is heightening competition, organizations must continue to develop tangible products and provide services which are based on strategies created by employees. Southwest Airlines Discrimination Case Essay Southwest Airlines Discrimination Case Recently, a Southwest Airlines discrimination issue surfaced resulting from comments expressed by a Southwest pilot during a private conversation. The two minute conversation transpired on March 25, 2011 and was inadvertently broadcast over a Federal Aviation Administration air traffic control frequency in the Houston, Texas area during a flight from Austin, Texas to San Diego, California. The airline permitted the pilot to return to work after completing diversity training. The airline believes the incident was an isolated case and considered the conversation as private . The Southwest Airlines flight Attendants Union have considered filing a federal workplace discrimination complaint with the Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission based upon the statements made by the pilot. Despite and official apology offered by Southwest Airlines management, the union believes the airlines response and apology falls short of expectations. The union is calling on Southwest Airlines to address this problem throughout our company, not as an isolated incident, but as a mandate that our workplace will be free from discrimination of all forms as a condition of continued employment (Bingham). Despite the position of the union, Southwest Airlines management believes the diversity training and the public apology was an appropriate response to the incident. Two possible actions must be considered to determine whether this incident involves any statutory activity. First, did the pilot violate any statutory laws by transmitting obscene, indecent, or profane language over ATC frequencies, and second, did the pilot provide a solid basis for a workplace discrimination complaint as expressed by the flight attendant union; both possibilities appear plausible based on the information ... Are you positive that you have the experience to overcome the responsibility or even the consequences? In Lord of the Flies, William Golding, uses the characterization of Ralph to represent the overall leadership needed in order for the infants to survive throughout the journey. It all embarks when a plane carrying a group of boys is shot down over the Pacific and the pilot of the plane is killed. Fortunately, many of the boys survive the crash and find themselves deserted on an uninhabited island, where later on they discover that they are alone without adult supervision. This instantly leads to chaotic trepidation, which means an alliance would be likely mandatory. Leadership is a key factor utilized in the story and basically without this hook, the rest of the minors would be nearly prone to their surroundings. This would lead to a huge conflict right off the back and affect their chances of getting off the island. Define Worldview And What Happens To A Human Being INTRODUCTION Waking up in the morning thinking about why, how, when and what is the importance of the world we live in and the interactions with others mean to us. Defining worldview is essentially a commitment, a fundamental orientation of the heart, that can be expressed as a story or in a set of presuppositions that we hold about the basic constitution of reality, and that provides the foundation on which we live and move and have our being (Sire, 2016).On the other hand spirituality holds the essence of our existence on this earth. Americans use it every day to communicate, travel, build and entertain themselves, but is it all positive? Does technology replace that which makes us human? Is technology harmful to the preservation of cultural values? Think about these questions as the effects of technology and material on American culture are explored. In the first point, the production element of technology and material will be covered, how it s thought up and how it s made. The motivations of private companies to make a profit are the primary factor considered in whether or not a new technology will be released, regardless of how much the technology is wanted or needed. There is no formal voting process that takes place for the public to decide what new technologies will be implemented into society. It all relies on private companies to sell them if they believe they can make money. The argument can be made though that the material and technology that consumers buy is them directly voting on what is adopted into American culture. 4. Arriving at the conclusion; It was explained how the production of technology and material has affected American culture. There have been numerous advances in technology that promise to make life easier and change how Americans operate as a culture. Money In Ayn Rand s Atlas Shrugged In Ayn Rand s novel Atlas Shrugged the character Francisco d Anconia views money as a tool and a symbol; something that can only come about by the hard work and ambition of men. He feels that a love of money is justified, and is liberal in his employment it because he sees no arbitrary value in money itself. This contrasts sharply with the view of James Taggart who sees money as a necessary evil; something that must be controlled, and forced to work with the people. James Taggart is afraid of money and what it has the power to do, so he attempts to limit it. You can see how this reflects Ayn Rand s own views on the difference between communism and capitalism. An example of a new form of reproductive technology is surrogacy. The act of a woman conceiving and carrying an embryo or fetus for an individual or a couple is defined as surrogacy (White, 2016). The ethics of this method of reproduction with the nuances of potential payment options and the effects on the parties involved, has to evolve with the updates in technology and knowledge. To begin, the use of commercial transnational surrogacy increases the complications of the legislation in Canada. As the world becomes more interconnected, the ability for Canadian citizens to find commercial surrogates in other countries is an expanding option. Unfortunately, due to rapidly changing legislation around surrogacy in many countries, parents and their child born from international surrogates may have difficulty leaving the child s country of birth together (Lozanski, 2015). This uncertainty of the safety for the children of Canadians, combined with the potential for extreme exploitation of international woman due to a lack of regulations, results in an unsafe environment (Lozanski, 2015). In addition, due to the decreased costs of surrogacy in Canada, as a result of commercialized surrogacy being illegal and Canada s public health insurance, the costs for people internationally to use surrogates in Canada is reduced. This may cause shortages of surrogates in Canada and cause Canadian taxpayers to pay for international people to come to Canada to have their children. As we were practicing the dance, he started to tease me repeatedly and I wanted to say something, but I stopped myself because I knew it would not be acceptable. Although I knew he was socially challenged, I took offense to his comments and felt that he was acting inappropriately. David Birnbaum, writer of the essay, The Catbird Seat , which was published in the New York Times Lives section, argues that as a disabled person he is allowed to take advantage of his rights and has special privileges when the Americans with Disabilities Act is not fulfilled. Birnbaum s essay discusses how he felt after becoming a quadriplegic and how the special treatment he receives equals up to what he has faced from being handicapped. Also, Birnbaum concluded his essay by describing the division between America s social hierarchies. The writer intended to catch the minds of a more prestigious audience, particularly a group of scholars who have excess time to read the newspaper. Also sexism is in the article Forget the Legend and Read the Work by Margaret Bauer. Gatsby tells me that he wakes up every day in one of the most comfortable and soft beds he has ever felt. In an extravagant hotel, with food covering every surface in the room. But as soon as he leaves his bed, or touches the food, it disappears in his fingertips. He is surrounded by fancy clothes, furniture, and gold jewellery but throughout the day everything he touched vanishes. He told me he tries with all his will power, not to touch anything but his greed gets the better of him, he cannot help himself. He must have everything. I have to relive my nightmare every day, without a way of waking up Jay said to me with utter sorrow in his voice. And just like Fagin, at the end of the day he is left standing on his own with nothing to his name other than the clothes on his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Designing A New Logo For The Company The name change to Bayerische Motoren Werke compelled management to devise a new logo for the company, therefore the famous BMW trademark is designed and patented at this time. However, they remained true to the imagery of the previous Rapp Motorenwerke emblem (which was designed by Karl s brother, Ottmar Rapp). Thus, both the old and the new logo were built up in the same way: the company name was placed in a black circle, which was once again given a pictorial form by placing a symbol within it. By analogy with this, the blue and white panels of the Bavarian national flag were placed at the center of the BMW logo. Not until the late 1920s was the logo lent a new interpretation as representing a rotating propeller. The BMW Trademark, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the 315/1 and 319/1 had M78 engines in a higher state of tune than in the respective 315 and 319 sedans, the 328 s M328 engine had a specially designed hemispheric cylinder head and other modifications that brought its power to 80 PS (59 kW). From its introduction at the Eifelrennen race at the Nürburgring in 1936, where Ernst Henne drove it to win the 2.0 liter class, to the overall victory of Fritz Huschke von Hanstein at the 1940 Brescia Grand Prix during World War II, the 328 was a legendary performer, with more than 100 class wins in 1937 alone. • 29. Symptoms And Treatment Of Ptsd Veterans It is evident that reforms are necessary within the VA system and society in regards to PTSD and veterans. How can the American veterans be better taken care of? I will focus on the following four specific issues that are in need of reform, 1. How can wait times be decreased for veterans seeking mental health treatment? 2. How can the stigma attached to PTSD in veterans be eliminated? 3. How can veterans receive immediate assistance in times of crisis? 4. How can we ensure that diagnosed PTSD veterans will continue treatment after receiving full monetary compensation? Focusing on these research questions, I propose to conduct research on decreasing wait times for PTSD related appointments, reducing, or eliminating, the stigma attached to PTSD in veterans, providing a way for veterans to receive immediate PTSD crisis help, and a way to ensure that veterans diagnosed with PTSD continue treatment. Veterans often experience long wait times to schedule an appointment for PTSD. Through additional research I have found that according to a study in 2003 by the American Legion, of approximately 300,000 veterans waiting for health care, over half of them had been waiting over eight months for an appointment (American Legion, 2013). I further researched how many VA facilities in the United States offer specialized treatment for PTSD. In all 50 states, and Washington, DC, there are a total of 139 facilities (US Department of Veterans Affairs, 2015). I propose to conduct a telephone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Author was creative in crafting as a carpenter, even though, Marquez was talented, and some of his reality in the essay was not ordinary. After reading author essay, I was convinced and then imagine how could human being, I mean someone who is struggling to make a living do those things the author communicated in the essay. Not only that, but how would human being ignored someone thinking they are dead. The first thing was when the doctor showed interest in buying the cage, then said, I ll take it (p.20). • 31. Gender And Gender Aspects Of Gender In Everyday Life Gender in Everyday Life Shyana Burks Diggins Community College of Aurora Gender in Everyday Life In today s culture, I see gender being a person s master status. In most aspects of my life, I notice that gender overrides other statuses such as my race or occupation. I believe gender does this because of the way it is instilled in every social institution. I imagine it is hard to inquire about my experiences without it coming from a woman s perspective. It s not what it means to be college educated, but what does it mean to be a college educated woman, and not what does it mean to be black, but what does it mean to be a black woman. Parenthood is near impossible to be understood without seeing it through a gender experience. Although gender is a social construction, it dictates individuals in a way that I cannot imagine any other social concept could. As I recorded my actions throughout the day, I realized that there are a lot of them that are dictated by my gender. I recorded over 50 actions and I am sure that I could have recorded differently depending on the kind of day. I recorded around 10 15 actions just from the daily aspect of getting ready and clothing. For example, I thought I chose my clothing depending on how I felt that day, but I realized small things like my choice of underwear was never of my volition. Depending on the kind of pants I wore, I wanted to avoid a panty line not only for fashion s sake but because that will affect future interactions with the other sex. With my experience, I see that men pick the underwear that will suit their comfort level, like if they want to wear briefs for exercising or boxers for a less active setting. Some of my actions I instantly knew were gendered, like my application of makeup to uphold a feminine standard or even the change of inflection of my voice when I talk to customers on the phone. As a woman and a consumer, I know that when I speak to a representative about an issue I expect empathy. A representative conveys that through smiling through the phone . Supervisors and trainers at my job admit that this trait is better accomplished by women because if we sound any other way we sound off putting and ingenuine. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Postive Effects of Medieval Social Classes Essay The development of social classes in medieval England affected life for the people in many positive ways. It served as a means of organization to base their daily lives off of, and also gave the peasants and trade classes protection from the rulers and the clergy class in return for their labor and allegiance ( Quizlet ). Life in the Middle Ages was based on the framework of social classes so they could flourish socially and economically. The British class structure was a configuration of five main classes. The King owned all the land and distributed portions of it to his nobles. He was part of the ruling class, along with the Pope and the rest of the royalty (Pattie). The Pope was the religious ruler and had power over the church and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Monks were the scholars of this time period, and they spent the majority of their time praising God and attending prayer meetings and church. The last group of people in the clergy class was the nuns. They weren t as intellectual as the monks, so their jobs involved catering to the people by nursing the sick to health in the infirmary, educating young children, and caring for orphans (People of the Middle Ages ). The next group of people was in the middle class. They were the citizens of the town, and they acquired high amounts of money so that their families could live comfortable lives. The mothers in these households were not obligated to work because the man of the house could financially support the whole family ( Middle Class ). Sometimes they had servants to help the women with household chores and duties like cooking, cleaning, and caring for the children. This class also included shipmen, cooks, and high class merchants (Schwartz). Below the middle class was the trade class, which included merchants and craftsmen. Men involved with retail would travel great distances to achieve authority and power over certain trade routes ( Middle Ages: The Medieval Social Classes ). The trade class hugely impacted the towns and the people because their income and trading skills helped to stabilize the economy. Peasants and the middle class often disagreed with the work of the merchants because the priests and the bishops were highly against it. They believed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. The Effectiveness Of Home Schooling Annie Cho Ms. McKee English 11 28 April 2015 The Effectiveness of Home Schooling I. Introduction According to the National Home Education Research Institute (NHERI), the number of homeschoolers rose up to 300,000 in 1992 to an estimated 2 million in 2003. Homeschooling has been around since 1960s, created by John Holt, a humanist. He believes that homeschooling is one of the greatest educational movements of our time. Supporters love the idea of students being homeschooled rather than being exposed to public schools because they believe that homeschooling students will boost their test scores and help lessen their insecurities. However, others believe homeschooling students lack the ability to socialize and interact with the community. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even, significant figures such as Senator Rick Santorum and Rep. Marilyn Musgrave encouraged the religious home schooling movement. They all helped overturn the law that banned homeschooling, which is now legal in all 50 states. III. Religious Purposes There are many motivating factors as to why people support homeschooling. One reason for homeschooling students is to ensure their child s values are the same as theirs. Homeschoolers are taught to think in a certain way and to believe certain things. Many parents have chosen home schooling in an effort to encourage specific religious values, and in some cases to avoid exposing their children to perceived cultural and irreligious precepts and ideologies (Stevenson 3). Parents want to protect their children from subjection to ideas of religious values. They want to raise their children in a safe, controlled environment. The vast majority of individual homeschooling for religious reasons are doing so to teach their children Christian values and principles. Although the home schooling population is far from homogenous, it is fair to say that many parents who pull their children out of traditional schools do so because they wish to protect them from exposure to ideas and influences that they feel are incompatible with their own morals or religious values (Lee and McMahon 3). They want to remove secular influences from their children s lives because they are concerned that other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Introduction To Identity The Unknow Acid Solution The purpose of this experiment is to identity the unknow acid solution through determining the Ka value of the reaction experimentally. The colors of unknown acid 3 matches the colors of test tube 1, with thymol blue being light pink, malachite green being dark green and crystal violet being cyan. Comparing it to other 3 test tubes, test tube 2 has a similar result. Both test tube 3 and 4 have higher Ph than 1 and 2, since thymol blue is yellow and crystal violet is purple in test tube 3, rose and blue in test tube 4. Crystal violet is green in test tube 2, which shows that it has a lower ph than test tube 1. So, the order of acidity from most acidic to least acidic is 2143. Dichloroacetic acid is the second strongest in those 4 acids; this suggests that unknown acid 3 is dichloroacetic acid. According to Le Chatelier s principle, the equilibrium shifts to the left, making Phenolphthalein colorless. At a high ph level where the H3O concentration is low, the equilibrium shifts to the right, showing the pink color of Phenolphthalein. This allows it to be used in both weak acid strong base and strong acid strong base titration. In a weak acid and strong base titration, the equivalence point would be above 7 due to the reaction occur between the conjugated base and water. This often makes the pH value detectable by Phenolphthalein. In a strong acid and strong base titration where the equivalence point is 7, the spike of pH around equivalence point is huge and all indicators at this range change color at the same volume of acid or base. Therefore, using Phenolphthalein in this case won t cause major ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
