good curriculum?
A good curriculum includes the following:
1 1. The curriculum is continuously evolving
2. The curriculum is based in the need of the people
3. The curriculum is democratically conceived

4. The curriculum is the result of the long-term effort
5. The curriculum is a complex of details
6. The curriculum provides for the logical sequence of subject matter
7. The curriculum complements and cooperates with other programs of the community
8. The curriculum has educational quality
9. The curriculum has administrative flexibility

What are marks of a good curriculum?
As marks of a good curriculum, the following
can be use as criteria for evaluation purposes, authored by J. Galen Salor
1. Systematically planned and evaluated
2. Reflects adequately the aims of the school
3. Maintains balance among all aims of the school
Criteria for Curriculum Assessment
4. Promotes continuity of experience
5. Arranges learning opportunities flexibly for adaptation to particular
situations and individuals
6. Utilizes the most effective learning experiences and resources available
7. Makes maximum provision for the development of each learner

What is evaluation?
 It is a judgment we make about the assessment of student learning based on established
criteria.
 It involves making decision about student’s perperformance based on information
obtained from an assessment process.
 Evaluation are usually made so that progress can be communicated to students and
parents.
Evaluation provides information
directly to the-
1. Learner and parent or guardian for the guidance
2. Teacher for orientation of the next instruction activities.
3. External agencies for their assessment of schools functioning in the light
of national purpose.
Criteria for Curriculum Assessment
What is curriculum evaluation?
 Focuses on determining whether the curriculum as
recorded in the master plan has been carried out in the
classroom.
Criteria for Curriculum Assessment
In evaluating curriculum, the following key
question are usually asked:
 Are the objective being addressed?
 Are the contents presented in the recommended sequence?
 Are students being involved in the instructional experiences?
 Are the students reacting to the contents?
Criteria for Curriculum Assessment
FORMATIVE and SUMMATIVE evaluation
 FORMATIVE- is an obvervation being done along or within the process of
the ongoing instructional activitie/s and which answer the question “what is
happening?”
 SUMMATIVE- after any quiz, exam or test is done which sums up what
happened or answer the question “what happened?”
