Analysis on the Shift of Business Strategy for Ge Into the...
Question 1: In what ways has Jeff Immelt redirected the strategy of GE?
In 2001, shortly after Jeff Immelt became the CEO of GE, a series of events changed and impacted the
corporate landscape. The immediate challenges that he faced included 9/11, and a subsequent series of
high profile corporate scandals (Enron, WorldCom). In 2008, the financial crisis hit and had a severe
impact on GE s primary growth source, GE Capital causing it to accumulate bad debts and asset write
downs. These events caused slow domestic economic growth, crisis of confidence among investors
and more global competitors.
Due to the change in environment and the need to adapt Immelt shifted the focus of GE from cost
cutting and deal making to new products, services ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the heart of Immelt s growth strategy for General Electric s was the development of new Growth
Platforms, which could be either extensions of the existing businesses or entire new commercial areas.
Even though Immelts core focus was on organic growth, repositioning to take advantage of the
emerging market trends and opportunities would require acquisition. Then once a new Growth
Platform was identified, GE would build a leading position in those sectors through small strategic
acquisitions and the deployment of its financial, technical and managerial resources.
GE was entering a new generational era, one where technology is at the forefront of growth and
adaptation. Immelt identified Technology as one of GE s major drivers for future growth which was
signaled by his expansion of GE s R D budgets. He shifted the importance of Technology within GE
by focusing on the R D projects that offered large scale market potential, reffered to as Imagination
breakthroughs .
Within this new business environment that GE was facing, customers needs, wants and expectations of
what products can offer them is forever changing. Immelt saw and understood this from the amount of
time spent with customers, and implemented this idea within GE through the IT

Safety Gear Vs Rollerblading
Rollerblading can be a fun activity to do in your spare time. It is one of my favorite activities from my
childhood. Though I loved rollerblading, I did learn three very important lessons that I passed down to
my children. When rollerblading wear safety gear because you can get hurt, it s not a race just go as
fast as you are comfortable with, and pay attention for obstructions in the road; gravel, big rocks, etc.
If a person follows these three lessons then they should be set to rollerblade. First it is very important
to wear safety gear while rollerblading because you can get hurt. If proper precautions are taken, yes
you might still get hurt, but it won t be as bad as it could be if you were not wearing safety gear. For
instance, if you

Freud s Developmental Stages Essay
Freud held strong beliefs about the roles of sex, procreation and the death drive within human
psychological development and developmental problems.
A brief summary of Freudian developmental stages:
Birth 1 year: Oral Stage.
This stage is concerned with the mouth and how the baby feeds i.e. sucking and is weaned on and
from mothers milk. He called this libido and refers to it as the driving force.
When the baby changes from sucking to biting this indicates the time for weaning and the next stage
which is solid food.
Freud believes that if this is done to abruptly it can cause trauma and inhibit healthy progression.
The individual could suffer from difficulties with food, oral behaviours such as smoking, gossip and
other more aggressive verbal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1 3 years: The Anal stage. â€oeWhere gratification is derived from gaining control over withholding
or eliminating faeces†Dryden s
Handbook of Individual Therapy pg 32
This stage is concerned with child s need to do things on their own terms, the conflict arises for them
where they have a need to assert their own will but also crave parental approval, this time can produce
a battle of wills between parent and child.
Age 3 6 years: The phallic stage.
At the core of this stage we see the child begin to learn about other people around them and the roles
they play, as children often learn by mimicking or copying they begin to do that with the same sex role
models according to Freud, although in the modern world this is not so clear cut as there are many
single sex parents and same gender parents raising families, which back then would not have been
accepted.
However, as the child becomes more aware of their genitals they will become increasingly curious
about sexual differences.
This is a very important stage in psychological development. There are some differing accounts about
what the Oedipal complex truly represents but it is clear it is a time of confusion for a

Why Has the Industrialization in the Nineteenth Century...
Napoleon Bonaparte s main aim is to keep himself in power by using social, economic, and political
means. Napoleon attempts to maintain his power through social policies. The Concordat of 1801 is an
agreement between the Pope and Napoleon which allows for the Catholic Churches to return to
France. This is significant because it allows for Napoleon to not only win over the people of France by
returning their religion to them, but the agreement also gives Napoleon easy access to spreading
propaganda. With the help of the church, Napoleon can also promote conscription and increase the
size of his army in order to maintain his control over a majority of Europe. Napoleon uses censorship
to hide or give false information to the people of France. With the help of the prefects in each
department, Napoleon essentially has total control of the information the people of France can or
cannot know, allowing him to maintain a positive persona in France. Napoleon recognizes that in
order to avoid another revolution and to maintain power, he must manipulate the society. Napoleon
attempts to use economic means to keep himself in power. First, Napoleon institutes the Continental
System in 1806 as an attempt to weaken Great Britain s economy. The Royal Navy is practically
undefeatable at this time and it is obvious that Great Britain rules the seas. Napoleon quickly discovers
he cannot defeat the island of Great Britain by attacking with his army, after his lose at the Battle of
Trafalgar,

Cs Lewis Accomplishments
C.S. Lewis when he was a small boy, endured a tragedy no nine year old should ever have to go
through that led to a tragic loss of faith and family. C.S. Lewis was born in Belfast, Ireland in 1898
and grew up being a normal child. One of Lewis s greatest accomplishments is writing the world
famous Chronicles of Narnia series. C.S. Lewis is known today as a brilliant author, an amazing
thinker, and a faithful Christian. C.S.lewis had a very normal childhood, he was born in Belfast
Ireland, a small beautiful town and loved living there. He lived with his father Albert, his mother
Florence, and his brother Warren. When he was small he would play pretend with his brother, which
stimulated his imagination from a young age. He was writing detailed stories about imaginary
creatures when he was only seven years old. All this changed in 1908, when he was nine years old his
mother died from abdominal cancer. His Father withdrew, sending him to boarding school. The school
was boring, had a terrible curriculum, and the students were not treated well. After the terrible school

I am going to answer these two questions in this essay. They are Do you think that the right to life
entails a right to die under certain circumstances? and Should the laws be changed to grant a universal
right to voluntary euthanasia? . In this essay, I am going to give reasons using ethical theories to
justify these questions.
Euthanasia
Euthanasia is the act of a physician or other third party ending a patient s life in response to severe
pain and suffering. Euthanasia can be classified into three types. They are voluntary euthanasia, non
voluntary euthanasia and involuntary euthanasia. Involuntary euthanasia is the action that takes the

Riding The City Bus Essay
Getting Around the GSO: Riding the City Bus in Greensboro
Typical, it is 7:31 am Monday morning and I am running late. Knowing it will take approximately
twenty minutes for me to make it to 8:00 am lecture on time, I grab my book bag hastily lock my
apartment door and fly down the slightly stained cement stairs. In less than sixty seconds, I
miraculously made it from the third to the first floor without falling. I congratulate myself and hop in
my old reliable dusty gray, 2011 Toyota. At last, I arrive to campus just in time to park in the closest
lot near the School of Nursing building making it to my first lecture of the day with ten minutes to
spare. This seems like a small and normal morning routine for some, for others who do not have ...

Members of the community may need to walk a longer distance if they stay in an area that is not near
a bus route. The neighborhood I stay in has about six bus stops, all within a five to ten minute walk
from my apartment. The bus stops offer little protection from adverse weather or even a bench to sit
on while waiting for the bus. I can image the difficulties a person in poor health, a person caring for
small children, or an older adult may have while waiting on a bus. According to the GTA website, only
the most frequently used bus stops will have a bench and shelter for those waiting (Greensboro Transit
Authority, 2017). While some stops are not the most accommodating, the bus does have a high tech
feature that lowers the bus closer to the ground for the passengers that need extra assistance, and the
front of the bus reserve seats for handicap passengers. The availability of the GTA buses depends on
the time, location, and day of the week. For instance, the route one, Bridford Place Stop, is available
from 5:15 am to 11:58 pm, Monday through Friday (Greensboro Transit Authority, 2017). On
Saturdays the bus is available from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. Bus routes on Sunday are limited to 6:00 am
to 6:00 pm and only routes 21 to 27 are operational (Greensboro Transit Authority, 2017). The limited

Grid Pl A Comparison Of Two Cities
Cities are very complex, large spaces. Every city is different, but many of them do share similar
qualities. Bristol, Rhode Island, Albany, New York, and Troy, New York are three good examples of
this. All three cities are waterfront cities and are laid out in a grid plan. Laying cities out in a grid plan
is done for many reasons such as, it s easily navigable, it s walkable, and it s economical meaning one
can do the most with the least amount of space. The grid layout is a key commonality between Bristol,
Albany, and Troy; however, they are all still very different.
Bristol, Rhode Island was founded in 1747 and was known for its slave trading and rubber company.

The Political Structures And Processes
In American Revolutionaries in the Making, Professor Charles S. Sydnor examines the political
structures and processes in Virginia prior to the American Revolution. His goal is to understand how
those structures and processes brought forth the large number of highly capable leaders who were
important to the formation and leadership of the United States in the revolution and early days of
independence: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, Patrick Henry,
George Mason, and John Marshall, to name only the most prominent. Professor Sydnor describes
three steps along the pathway to power in colonial and revolutionary Virginia that brought these men
to the top: 1. Justice of the Peace: The first public office held by almost all of these men was Justice of
the Peace in their home county. This office was quite different from anything in the current age. Each
county had from 10 to 30 Justices, who collectively formed the County Court. This court not only
heard cases of civil and criminal law but also constituted the primary governing body of the county
with executive and legislative as well as judicial powers. Justices were commissioned by the
Governor, usually based on nominations from the current members of the Court. The Court was,
therefore, a self perpetuating body not directly subject to popular control. The only avenues of
recourse open to the public were petition to the Governor or the House of Burgesses, colonial Virginia
s elective

The Inclusion Of Special Educational Needs
The inclusion of special educational needs (SEN) students into mainstream schools is a key issue
across England. The Education for All Handicapped Children Act (Public Law 94 142) states that all
handicapped children [have] the right to a free appropriate public education. However, there has been
much debate concerning which approaches have a more active influence on the efficacy of inclusion.
This essay will aim to investigate how practical and successful inclusion techniques are within a
community whilst underlying both the advantages and disadvantages that inclusion may generate. The
terminology associated with this discussion is one of the main factors contributing to ineffective
inclusion. What does it mean to be included? When is the inclusion complete? What is successful
inclusion? How can one achieve the inclusion of all children? These questions are too open and cannot
be resolved without a sole and concise explanation. The term [inclusion] itself connotes a multiplicity
of meanings (Murphy, 1996, p. 471) and as there is very little literature stating what is meant by
inclusion in one concise definition, it constitutes great controversy within the matter. Therefore, the
inclusion of SEN pupils within schools across England has not always been successful. Despite there
being much interpretation to the terminology, integral aspects of the process can be neglected and may
result in segregation still existing within some schools. This issue may be resolved by

Essay on Dealing with Aggression
Dealing with Aggression
Abstract
We live in a society where aggressive acts happen every day, but do we really know what causes it?
How can we help ourselves and others to understand what aggression is? First off, we need to define
aggression, tell it s causes and effects and determine the best way to deal with it. For example,
aggression can be positive or negative, accidental or intended and physical or mental. Aggression is a
continuing behavior in our world today and I feel that it is very important that we try to start
controlling it now.
Aggression is a critical part of animal existence, which is a driving force to humans, as we too are
animals. The source of aggression within humans is an ongoing list so therefore, ... Show more

Aggression can fall under a number of forms. Due to its relative nature, aggression is extremely hard
to isolate and study. A major distinction made in animal studies of aggression, and one that may well
have profound implications for human aggression, is the difference between offensive and defensive
aggression (Feshbach, Zagrodzka 1997). Much research has already been done indicating that
different brain sites mediate predation and defensive aggression. Aggression can take many different
paths. The act of hitting a wall to release aggression has some of the same roots as playing football
and enjoying hitting the quarterback. A child yelling at their parents could be equated in its
aggressiveness with someone honking their horn when they get cut off driving. Psychologist Arlene
Stillwell performed an experiment where she assigned ordinary college students at random to play the
role of a victim or a perpetrator in a small incident. Then she asked the students to describe the
situation that had just happened. What she found was that both victims and perpetrators deformed the
truth equally to present their sides in a better light. Victims would dwell on their lasting traumas from
the incident while the perpetrator might make the act seem like a one time action provoked by
insurmountable circumstances. The resulting implication is that aggression is in the eye of the

The Civil war waged for an entire 4 years. Between the year 1861 and 1865. And the opponents in the

Defending Education Reform
Defining Education Reform
Beauty, we have been reminded many times, is in the eye of the beholder, and so is education reform.
Reforming anything goes far beyond improving it because reform demands fundamental change, not
mere tweaking. The challenge involved in understanding educational reform begins with the challenge
of terminology. The terms educational reform , educational change , and educational progress are
often used interchangeably, but they have distinctly different meanings and implications. For example,
the news media may refer to the recent standardized testing initaitave as an educational reform, and
educational change or as educational progress toward the goal of more efficient and effective
education (Understanding Education Reform, Pg 1). Reform implies that something is wrong or at
least could be better. Change on the other hand, simply implies that something will be different.
What we dont know about our education system threatens what we do know. There are very concrete
reasons why reform as we ve tried has not worked. And why it wont. Ever. But there are things we can
do. To reform is literally to form/ create/ shape something again; commonly it means to amend or
improve. We need to view or ignore the system itself, it is still true that we aim our reform effort at the
part with which we are most familiar, the classroom,i.e., teacher, students, books, methods. The need
for reform comes from the diverse political system and it is directed at

Female Infanticide and Foeticide Essay
Female Infanticide and Foeticide
It is regrettable that female infanticide and foeticide are rapidly decreasing the female population
throughout India. The main factors that is responsible for the increase in the incidence of female
infanticide and foeticide is the low status of women, son preference, and the practice of dowry across
all casts groups.
The low status of women and girls is due to cultural beliefs and the material cost they represent to
their families. Vanaja Dhruvarajan says that there is a belief regarding the nature of men and women:
Men are ritually pure, physically strong, and emotionally mature; women, on the other hand, are
ritually pollutable, physically weak, and lack strong willpower (30). Because of these ... Show more

Overall, girls get poorer education than boys, and become less aware of the world around them.
Therefore, they become dependent on men, whether it is the father, the husband or the son.
The preference for male children is due to three major reasons. One is the economic value of having
sons. Sons are more likely than daughters to provide family labour on the farm or in a family business,
earn wages, and support their parents during old age. Upon marriage, a son brings a daughter in law
into his family, and she provides additional help around the house as well as she brings riches in the
form of dowry payments. Another important advantage of having sons is their social cultural utility. In
India patriarchal family system, having one son is essential for the continuation of the family line, and
many sons provide high status to the family. Vanaja Dhruvarajan says, When a women becomes a
mother, especially the mother of a son, her status goes up in her new home for having helped
perpetuate the family (87) Finally, the utility of having sons comes from the important religious
functions that only sons can provide. In Hindu tradition, sons are needed to do the funeral of their
deceased parents and to help in the salvation of their souls.
Daughters are considered to be an economic problem to her parents mainly because of the heavy
dowry payment demanded by the groom s family, as well as the high cost of the wedding,

Every part of the country operates a little differently. In many areas, private land hunting is preferred
because food plots and established game management insure a healthy herd of game with a good
buck/doe ratio, insuring the chances of a nice trophy buck. If you don t have access to private hunting
land that has been properly managed, you could gain access by hiring pro hunting outfitters or paying
to have access to the land for a do it yourself type of hunt or pay a trespass fee to hunt on private
ranches. In remote areas, especially out west and in Canada, hunts are on national forests and public
land. Good hunting outfitters will have intimate knowledge of the local game and also have access to
hunt in high demand or specific game units.
Hunting Outfitters have invested in all the necessary hunting equipment. Good hunting outfitters will
have expensive equipment including tree stands, shooting houses, safety equipment, ATVs,
snowmobiles, boats, walkie talkies and all the other things you probably don t care to purchase or have

Loneliness in Works of Emily Dickinson Essay
In the poems of Emily Dickinson, there are many instances in which she refers to her seclusion and
loneliness, and how wonderful the two can be. In a book entitled, Emily Dickenson: Singular Poet, by
Carl Dommermuth, she writes: She (Dickinson) apparently enjoyed a normal social life as a school
girl, but in later years would seldom leave her home. She was passionate yet distant. This distance
Dommermuth speaks of is quite evident in Dickinson s works. Dickinson not only loves her loneliness
but also feels as though she cannot live without it.
Emily Dickinson lived most of her time on this earth, from 1830 1886, in the small New England
town of Amherst. New England was where the seeds of Puritanism took hold, and the Dickinson ...

As feminist literary scholars Sandra Gilbert and Susan Gubar noted, It was combining
Transcendentalism with the Bible and her Puritan background which enabled Dickinson to contrive
her own interpretation of theology which was expressed through her poetry (843).
As Dickinson retreated from the public s view, she contemplated issues that dealt with subjects of
nature, individuality, God, and death. None of Dickinson s poems were published in her lifetime, and
it was only after her death in 1886 when her sister Lavivia discovered a collection of over 1,000
poems, that the world was blessed with the poems of Emily Dickinson.
Dickinson s bout with religious turmoil is quite evident in poem 1545; The Bible is an antique Volume
, in which she seems to be attacking the Puritan radicals such as Jonathan Edward. This poem gives
almost a complete overview of the Bible, speaking of Eden, Satan, Judas, David, and also Sin. This
poem lets us see why and also how this strict religious upbringing may have pushed her to become the
`old spinster as some may call her, or the woman with the disease of agoraphobia.
In poem number 405, It might be lonelier; Dickinson adds a twist to a traditional view on loneliness.
Instead of speaking of being lonely as a negative feeling, she sees herself as `lucky for having it . It s
almost as though she is feeling sorry for those who aren t able to feel alone in the same way.

Censorship In Music
Music is an expressive, vivid form of art. The influence of music has a huge impact with every age
group in the world. When people think of music they automatically think of how it makes them feel
which most of the time is good. They don t comprehend the provocative lyrics or what the song s
meaning really is. People have become used to this insulting and offensive language found on just
about any song. Every song being released today contains some sort of graphical, sexual, or explicit
lyric. Today s graphic music encourages violence, degradation of women , and influences young
children negatively. First of all, censoring graphic, explicit, and sexual lyrics may preserve children s
innocence until their parents think it is time to discuss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Karen Dill, author of Violent rap lyrics make listeners more accepting of violence , states: Radio
personality Don Imus referred to a college women s basketball team as nappy headed ho s . Dill also
argues, ... many responded that the racist and sexist language was acceptable because the type of
language is used by minorities in rap music . Rap music has made their own image of what women are
in their eyes and this has caused others to treat females a certain way. Women have always been
portrayed as weak, feisty, helpless, property, and more. Females start to believe this about themselves
having low self esteem, not wanting to be in relationships, and thinking they aren t good enough. In
reality, they might not feel that way, but that s how they are talked about in music so they believe they
need to be that way. According to the author of The public should criticize violent music lyrics,
women are objectified, often in the most obscene and degrading ways (Brownback). For example,
Wildflower by Ghostface Killah had a very set way on how they described women. The song is full of
disgusting comments towards women calling her a bitch , stank hoe , dumb bitch , and a chickenhead
hoe (Ghostface Killah). Ghostface Killah also brings up him cheating on her and how he had sexual
relations with her while she was bleeding. The lyrics used in this song are meant to bring

The Role Of Rape In A Streetcar Named Desire
The greater the power, the more dangerous the abuse. Edmund Burke. The desire to have power can
be traced through the natural instinct of competition for dominance over weaker beings, through the
human need to be superior. Throughout history, humans have fought for control over everything they
believed belong to them, such as land, territory, and food. As humanity has evolved, the fight for
control and power has evolved as well, to where violence and rape have become a normal part of
society as a whole. Through the play A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams, the novels
Things fall Apart by Chinua Achebe and Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, and the poem A White
man s Burden by Rudyard Kipling, rape is used to insert superiority ... Show more content on

Written for the Queen of England, it alludes to the great power Great Britain once had and the
colonies it once had under its control. England, in it s height, had colonies all around the world and
was extremely wealthy, profiting from taking advantage of weaker societies. Kipling writes of the
ports ye shall not enter, the roads ye shall not tread, go mark them with your living, and mark them
with your dead (Kipling 29 32). England, in order to keep the land and resources that were under its
control, would send colonists to take over and cultivate it. As England was a very strong and powerful
country, it took from those that were inferior despite the protests from the indigenous people, much
like how some rapists continue to rape their victims even after the victim said

Scalp Massage Heaven
Scalp Massage Heaven
Having all comes at a price, so one will have to sacrifice sleep and sometimes even self care to get
work done. A person could multi task or wake up early in the morning, but will they really be taking
care of themselves the way they should. So, how does one maintain luminous and strong hair while
doing paperwork or reading 50 pages a night? The Scalp Massager might just be the answer. This
paper will be discussing the ways this improved invention benefits the body, one way the machinery
functions, and another way that could contribute to giving someone the sense of a real massage.

By including a roller screw into the design, one can now get a shifting movement that allows for
variation in activity. The writer of a SKF article on roller screws says, They [roller screws] are well
suited for ... high rotational speed , higher linear speed . The idea is to have one end of the electric
wire circuit attached to the screw to make a spinning up and down motion around the screw. Thus
creating the notion that hands are being lifted up and down during a massage. The author says,
Recirculating roller screws can simplify a complete transmission and improve its rigidity . By this, the
author means that the mechanism by which power is transmitted from one place to another is
minimized and made in a much simpler way. Then the author goes on to say, Their great mechanical
advantage minimizes input torque and increases application resolution and performance . Meaning
that the input twisting force that causes rotation is reduced and the sustained effort and execution that
the screw carries out is maximized. In closing, the roller screw will contribute to the fabrication of the
innovation by creating a perpendicular motion resulting in up and down movement that contributes to

Alabama Repertory Dance Concert Report
Compilation Review of the Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre
The performances from the Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre was nothing short of a success. As I
watched the show, I was in awe of how well put together it all was. Coming from a performing arts
high school, I am not new to reviewing dance shows; but of course high school dance shows simply
did not compare to the performances from the ARDT. The show was composed of eight unique and
intriguing ensembles, all of which showcased outstanding performance ability. Although every piece
was exceptional, I did have my favorites. Among my favorites were Iron Grace Mechinique, Hex, Don
t Fall Asleep, Harlequinade Pas de Deux, and Lifted!. Iron Grace Mechinique was performed to Iron
City by Lusine. The dancers movements were very precise and neat. The costumes reminded me of the
movie Black Swan, because of its twisted and dark ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This dance seemed to be the perfect length. At first, it was hard to understand what was going on until
the girl emerged from the covers. It commenced with a girl in a nightgown struggling under the covers
in a bed. It was clear that she was having a nightmare. As she awoke she found herself face to face
with a demon in horns who danced around her. I interpreted this nightmare as her way of coping and
confronting her demons until she could finally rest again. Strobe lights scattered around the dancers as
the nightmare went on. Once she finally felt content enough to fall asleep, she went back under the
covers. This dance was one of my favorites because I d never seen a bed used as a prop in a dance
before.
I liked how the show ended with the performance Lifted!. It ended the show off on a positive note
with upbeat music and fast paced movements. It closely resembled African dance and movements.
There were many dancers involved in putting this piece together. The amount of dancers involved in
this piece aided in bringing everything

Sports Are Good For Children
Organized Sports are Good for Children As time passes and as technology is advancing, the tradition
of playing outside is diminishing rapidly. Many people concentrate on their electronic devices in their
ages as early as three. Sports are the most effective way that children express their joyfulness and
brilliance. It provides children advantages of physical activities, confidence, and enjoyment.
Participating in organized sports in early ages can produce the greatest results for children. Organized
sports are good for children to improve social skills, to have successful life, and to keep their health.
First, organized sports are good for children because it improves social skills. Children who
participate in team sports are full of confidence. According to Gary R. Collins, who writes the
Spotlight or Stress, This is especially uncomfortable and stressful when other people expect us to do
one thing, when we fear that we can t do what is expected, and we think that our inability may cause
us to lose respect in the eyes of others. Since everyone is not perfect, sometimes they can win or lose
the games. Also Collins says, Acceptance is a third divine characteristic of success. At the beginning,
they can be afraid of losing, but it is a good opportunity to have the ability of how to accept loosing
games. Children will be able to develop their minds and their sense of purpose with more passion
through competitive experiences. They will have high self esteem and will

The Christian Subculture
The definition of a subculture is a cultural group within a larger culture. By this statement, I am a part
of the Christianity subculture. This has proven to be paramount to my attitude and behavior. For
example, the doctrine that is taught dictates the way I interact with others verbally, the way I treat
others, the way I feel as a person, and how my emotions are shown. With regards to verbal interaction,
the Holy Bible says Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good
to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Ephesians 4:29 (KJV) . I do my best
to speak as politely as possible to others. I give them the respect that I would wish upon myself. And

As stated earlier, the verse taken from Luke 6:31 is a perfect quote to describe the way I treat others.
Most people would want to be treated with kindness, respect, and courtesy. I believe that I do this
well. By treating people this way, I am in turn treated similarly. This is commonly known as, The
Golden Rule . The way I feel as a person is directly affected by the scripture of God. These things I
have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of
good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33 (KJV) . This verse is essentially telling us to be
happy, and to have peace. I believe that this is done well, and shown through my actions. I consider
myself to be a happy, and an enthusiastic person. Being happy is a great feeling, and I take pride in the
fact that I can be happy despite anything that is metaphorically thrown at me. These ideals are a
component to the way I handle my emotions. He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he
that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city. Proverbs 16:32 (KJV) This is one of the many verses
that tell us to control our emotions. There are also many verses that give us advice for any emotion
that we are feeling. If you are feeling depressed, anxious, or are feeling any form of negative emotion,
you can consult the Bible,

Chrysler Pacifica Essay
The all new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica arrives this spring.
If you thought the minivan segment was in its death throes, you aren t alone. Last year, segment sales
fell by 8 percent in a market where overall sales climbed by more than 5 percent.
However, much of that drop can be attributed to a shutdown at the Fiat Chrysler (FCA) plant in
Ontario, Canada early in 2015 explains GoodCarBadCar.net. That cessation allowed FCA to retool the
plant to prepare for an all new model, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, now in production.
The minivan market is certainly a small one, with just over 500,000 units sold in recent years. In 2000,
just before the crossover SUV craze took hold, manufacturers sold a record 1.37 million units
according to Bloomberg. In 2009, that number plummeted to just 415,000 models sold, due in part to
an overall collapse in vehicle sales.

FCA s most profitable models are its Jeep and Ram products. Minivans are lucrative too, especially
when sold in greater numbers.
The end game strategy for CEO Sergio Marchionne is to make his company more appealing to
partners. Marchionne has made it clear that his company s future lies in the arm of a well heeled
suitor.
New 9 Speed Automatic Transmission
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica does have something in common with the outgoing Town Country: both
models are powered by a 3.6 liter, V 6 engine. This engine makes 287 horsepower and 262 foot
pounds of torque.
Notably, the transmission has been changed with the Pacifica getting Chrysler s new 9 speed
automatic, replacing the previous 6 speed. That improvement will result in a boost in fuel economy to
18 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway; up from the previous 17/25 mpg city/highway.

Essay about African American Religious Music
African American religious music is the foundation of all contemporary forms of so called black
music. African American religious music has been a fundamental part of the black experience in this
country. This common staple of the African American experience can be traced back to the cruel
system of slavery. It then evolved into what we refer to today as gospel music. The goal of this paper
is to answer three main questions. What are the origins of African American religious music? How did
this musical expression develop into a secular form of music? What is the future of African American
religious music? These questions will be answered through factual research of African American
traditions, artists, and various other sources. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gospel music was developed and inspired by the blues and jazz that was storming the country. Many
traveling, singing preachers began to accompany themselves with piano and guitar. An example of this
can be found with a gentleman who many refer to as the father of Gospel Music, Thomas A Dorsey.
The son of a minister, Thomas Dorsey was a consummate musician and as a young man, he
accompanied some of the most famous blues singers of all time including Bessie Smith and Ma
Rainey. He also arranged and composed blues tunes. However, his penchant for bouncy tunes and
bawdy lyrics did not keep him from attending the annual meeting of the National Baptist Convention.
It was at these conventions that Dorsey first heard compositions of Charles A Tindley. Tindley inspired
him. Musical historian Arna Bontemps argues that it was at this point in Dorsey s life when he began
to write religious music. He abandoned his brash lyrics but not the jazz rhythms and blues flavor.
Naturally, older conservatives considered this blending of sacred music, such as spirituals and hymns
with secular music, such as blues and jazz, to be devil s music. They shunned it and declared Dorsey s
brand of gospel music unworthy of a hearing within sanctuaries of the day. The traditional church
failed to see the positive influence contemporary

Giftedness And Giftedness
Giftedness is when an individual is able to achieve/perform/produce at high levels a highly valued task

be inherent or developed. This aligns with both the NAGC and Sternberg Zhang definitions. 2. Law
(concerning identification and education of students with G T in KY) The Kentucky administrative
regulations address all students identified as having exceptional educational needs including students
identified with gifts and talents. KRS 157.224(1) requires that educational programs for students with
gifts and talents be established and KRS 157.200(1)(n) allows for defining students with G Ts those
students demonstrate or have the potential ability to perform at an exceptionally high level in general
intellectual aptitude, specific academic aptitude, creative or divergent thinking, psychosocial or
leadership skills, or in the visual or performing arts. (704 KAR 3:285). The Kentucky Department of
Education has established administrative regulations that commit LEAs in the state to providing a
comprehensive educational program for all students that qualify for exceptional education between
kindergarten through 12th grade. The KAR further requires that the LEA establish procedures for
identifying students with G Ts (which is defined in KRS 157.200, see above). Districts may use
formal, informal, and objective based criteria for eligibility. Furthermore, the KAR also outlines
procedures for identification for primary talent pool. It is important to note that while the KAR makes
note of the importance of equal access to screening and services for children from low SES, children
who are identified as a minority, and children with disabilities, these children continue to be routinely
underidentified. Lack of experiences, access, and disabilities may mask specific gifts and/or talents,
and teachers and parents may need additional training and support in identifying those students. In
Kentucky, children can be identified for G T services students when they demonstrate or have the
potential ability to perform at an exceptionally high level in the following categories: general

History of Motorcycles
With gas prices rising higher and higher everyday, many people turned to alternate forms of
transportation. One of the most popular forms of transportation is motorcycles. These vehicles can
save a lot of money at the pump. Sports involving motorcycles are also becoming more and more
popular everyday. Motocross is the second most popular motorsport in America behind NASCAR.
This growth of the motorcycle industry got me curious about these amazing machines and how they
work. The first motorcycles were made in America. In 1867, American, Sylvester Howard Roper
invented a steam engine motorcycle that was powered by coal called the Roper Steam Velocipede.
German, Gottlieb Daimler invented the first gasoline powered motorcycle in 1885. ... Show more

Instead of the lifters and pushrods, the rocker arm rides along the camshaft lobe and the other end still

Four stroke engines are more commonly used than two stokes. They are used in most motorcycles that
are used for transportation, such as Harley Davidson motorcycles. These engines are becoming even
more popular than they once were. There have been many advancements in the four stroke engine that
have made them capable to do jobs they were once unable to do. These engines are now used more
commonly in motocross competition and off road use, the only portion of the motorcycling industry
that mostly used the two stroke engine (Bennett). This is largely due to the fact that fuel economy and
environmental awareness are very important issues in the world right now (Total Motorcycle).
Besides the mechanics, there are many other differences between two stroke engines and four stroke
engines (Total Motorcycle). Both engines use gasoline for fuel, but two stroke engines require a
mixture of gasoline and oil. This is needed to lubricate the inner parts of the engine, while four stroke
engines have a completely separate oiling system that lubricates the engine. The mixture of oil and gas
makes these engines more harmful to the environment and produces more harmful emissions. Four
stroke engines also

  • 2. Analysis on the Shift of Business Strategy for Ge Into the... Question 1: In what ways has Jeff Immelt redirected the strategy of GE? In 2001, shortly after Jeff Immelt became the CEO of GE, a series of events changed and impacted the corporate landscape. The immediate challenges that he faced included 9/11, and a subsequent series of high profile corporate scandals (Enron, WorldCom). In 2008, the financial crisis hit and had a severe impact on GE s primary growth source, GE Capital causing it to accumulate bad debts and asset write downs. These events caused slow domestic economic growth, crisis of confidence among investors and more global competitors. Due to the change in environment and the need to adapt Immelt shifted the focus of GE from cost cutting and deal making to new products, services ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the heart of Immelt s growth strategy for General Electric s was the development of new Growth Platforms, which could be either extensions of the existing businesses or entire new commercial areas. Even though Immelts core focus was on organic growth, repositioning to take advantage of the emerging market trends and opportunities would require acquisition. Then once a new Growth Platform was identified, GE would build a leading position in those sectors through small strategic acquisitions and the deployment of its financial, technical and managerial resources. GE was entering a new generational era, one where technology is at the forefront of growth and adaptation. Immelt identified Technology as one of GE s major drivers for future growth which was signaled by his expansion of GE s R D budgets. He shifted the importance of Technology within GE by focusing on the R D projects that offered large scale market potential, reffered to as Imagination breakthroughs . Within this new business environment that GE was facing, customers needs, wants and expectations of what products can offer them is forever changing. • 4. Freud s Developmental Stages Essay Freud held strong beliefs about the roles of sex, procreation and the death drive within human psychological development and developmental problems. A brief summary of Freudian developmental stages: Birth 1 year: Oral Stage. This stage is concerned with the mouth and how the baby feeds i.e. sucking and is weaned on and from mothers milk. He called this libido and refers to it as the driving force. When the baby changes from sucking to biting this indicates the time for weaning and the next stage which is solid food. Freud believes that if this is done to abruptly it can cause trauma and inhibit healthy progression. • 5. Why Has the Industrialization in the Nineteenth Century... Napoleon Bonaparte s main aim is to keep himself in power by using social, economic, and political means. Napoleon attempts to maintain his power through social policies. The Concordat of 1801 is an agreement between the Pope and Napoleon which allows for the Catholic Churches to return to France. This is significant because it allows for Napoleon to not only win over the people of France by returning their religion to them, but the agreement also gives Napoleon easy access to spreading propaganda. With the help of the church, Napoleon can also promote conscription and increase the size of his army in order to maintain his control over a majority of Europe. Napoleon uses censorship to hide or give false information to the people of France. With the help of the prefects in each department, Napoleon essentially has total control of the information the people of France can or cannot know, allowing him to maintain a positive persona in France. Napoleon recognizes that in order to avoid another revolution and to maintain power, he must manipulate the society. Napoleon attempts to use economic means to keep himself in power. First, Napoleon institutes the Continental System in 1806 as an attempt to weaken Great Britain s economy. The Royal Navy is practically undefeatable at this time and it is obvious that Great Britain rules the seas. Napoleon quickly discovers he cannot defeat the island of Great Britain by attacking with his army, after his lose at the Battle of Trafalgar, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sydnor examines the political structures and processes in Virginia prior to the American Revolution. His goal is to understand how those structures and processes brought forth the large number of highly capable leaders who were important to the formation and leadership of the United States in the revolution and early days of independence: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, Patrick Henry, George Mason, and John Marshall, to name only the most prominent. Professor Sydnor describes three steps along the pathway to power in colonial and revolutionary Virginia that brought these men to the top: 1. Justice of the Peace: The first public office held by almost all of these men was Justice of the Peace in their home county. This office was quite different from anything in the current age. Each county had from 10 to 30 Justices, who collectively formed the County Court. This court not only heard cases of civil and criminal law but also constituted the primary governing body of the county with executive and legislative as well as judicial powers. Justices were commissioned by the Governor, usually based on nominations from the current members of the Court. The Court was, therefore, a self perpetuating body not directly subject to popular control. • 12. The Inclusion Of Special Educational Needs The inclusion of special educational needs (SEN) students into mainstream schools is a key issue across England. The Education for All Handicapped Children Act (Public Law 94 142) states that all handicapped children [have] the right to a free appropriate public education. However, there has been much debate concerning which approaches have a more active influence on the efficacy of inclusion. This essay will aim to investigate how practical and successful inclusion techniques are within a community whilst underlying both the advantages and disadvantages that inclusion may generate. The terminology associated with this discussion is one of the main factors contributing to ineffective inclusion. What does it mean to be included? When is the inclusion complete? What is successful inclusion? How can one achieve the inclusion of all children? These questions are too open and cannot be resolved without a sole and concise explanation. The term [inclusion] itself connotes a multiplicity of meanings (Murphy, 1996, p. 471) and as there is very little literature stating what is meant by inclusion in one concise definition, it constitutes great controversy within the matter. Therefore, the inclusion of SEN pupils within schools across England has not always been successful. Despite there being much interpretation to the terminology, integral aspects of the process can be neglected and may result in segregation still existing within some schools. This issue may be resolved by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How can we help ourselves and others to understand what aggression is? First off, we need to define aggression, tell it s causes and effects and determine the best way to deal with it. For example, aggression can be positive or negative, accidental or intended and physical or mental. Aggression is a continuing behavior in our world today and I feel that it is very important that we try to start controlling it now. Aggression is a critical part of animal existence, which is a driving force to humans, as we too are animals. The source of aggression within humans is an ongoing list so therefore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aggression can fall under a number of forms. Due to its relative nature, aggression is extremely hard to isolate and study. A major distinction made in animal studies of aggression, and one that may well have profound implications for human aggression, is the difference between offensive and defensive aggression (Feshbach, Zagrodzka 1997). Much research has already been done indicating that different brain sites mediate predation and defensive aggression. Aggression can take many different paths. The act of hitting a wall to release aggression has some of the same roots as playing football and enjoying hitting the quarterback. A child yelling at their parents could be equated in its aggressiveness with someone honking their horn when they get cut off driving. Psychologist Arlene Stillwell performed an experiment where she assigned ordinary college students at random to play the role of a victim or a perpetrator in a small incident. Then she asked the students to describe the situation that had just happened. What she found was that both victims and perpetrators deformed the truth equally to present their sides in a better light. Victims would dwell on their lasting traumas from the incident while the perpetrator might make the act seem like a one time action provoked by insurmountable circumstances. The resulting implication is that aggression is in the eye of the beholder ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Defending Education Reform Defining Education Reform Beauty, we have been reminded many times, is in the eye of the beholder, and so is education reform. Reforming anything goes far beyond improving it because reform demands fundamental change, not mere tweaking. The challenge involved in understanding educational reform begins with the challenge of terminology. The terms educational reform , educational change , and educational progress are often used interchangeably, but they have distinctly different meanings and implications. For example, the news media may refer to the recent standardized testing initaitave as an educational reform, and educational change or as educational progress toward the goal of more efficient and effective education (Understanding Education Reform, Pg 1). Reform implies that something is wrong or at least could be better. Change on the other hand, simply implies that something will be different. What we dont know about our education system threatens what we do know. There are very concrete reasons why reform as we ve tried has not worked. And why it wont. Ever. But there are things we can do. To reform is literally to form/ create/ shape something again; commonly it means to amend or improve. We need to view or ignore the system itself, it is still true that we aim our reform effort at the part with which we are most familiar, the classroom,i.e., teacher, students, books, methods. The main factors that is responsible for the increase in the incidence of female infanticide and foeticide is the low status of women, son preference, and the practice of dowry across all casts groups. The low status of women and girls is due to cultural beliefs and the material cost they represent to their families. Therefore, they become dependent on men, whether it is the father, the husband or the son. The preference for male children is due to three major reasons. One is the economic value of having sons. Sons are more likely than daughters to provide family labour on the farm or in a family business, earn wages, and support their parents during old age. Upon marriage, a son brings a daughter in law into his family, and she provides additional help around the house as well as she brings riches in the form of dowry payments. Another important advantage of having sons is their social cultural utility. In India patriarchal family system, having one son is essential for the continuation of the family line, and many sons provide high status to the family. Vanaja Dhruvarajan says, When a women becomes a mother, especially the mother of a son, her status goes up in her new home for having helped perpetuate the family (87) Finally, the utility of having sons comes from the important religious functions that only sons can provide. In Hindu tradition, sons are needed to do the funeral of their deceased parents and to help in the salvation of their souls. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As feminist literary scholars Sandra Gilbert and Susan Gubar noted, It was combining Transcendentalism with the Bible and her Puritan background which enabled Dickinson to contrive her own interpretation of theology which was expressed through her poetry (843). As Dickinson retreated from the public s view, she contemplated issues that dealt with subjects of nature, individuality, God, and death. None of Dickinson s poems were published in her lifetime, and it was only after her death in 1886 when her sister Lavivia discovered a collection of over 1,000 poems, that the world was blessed with the poems of Emily Dickinson. Dickinson s bout with religious turmoil is quite evident in poem 1545; The Bible is an antique Volume , in which she seems to be attacking the Puritan radicals such as Jonathan Edward. This poem gives almost a complete overview of the Bible, speaking of Eden, Satan, Judas, David, and also Sin. This poem lets us see why and also how this strict religious upbringing may have pushed her to become the `old spinster as some may call her, or the woman with the disease of agoraphobia. In poem number 405, It might be lonelier; Dickinson adds a twist to a traditional view on loneliness. Rap music has made their own image of what women are in their eyes and this has caused others to treat females a certain way. Females start to believe this about themselves having low self esteem, not wanting to be in relationships, and thinking they aren t good enough. In reality, they might not feel that way, but that s how they are talked about in music so they believe they need to be that way. The desire to have power can be traced through the natural instinct of competition for dominance over weaker beings, through the human need to be superior. Throughout history, humans have fought for control over everything they believed belong to them, such as land, territory, and food. As humanity has evolved, the fight for control and power has evolved as well, to where violence and rape have become a normal part of society as a whole. Through the play A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams, the novels Things fall Apart by Chinua Achebe and Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, and the poem A White man s Burden by Rudyard Kipling, rape is used to insert superiority ... As I watched the show, I was in awe of how well put together it all was. Coming from a performing arts high school, I am not new to reviewing dance shows; but of course high school dance shows simply did not compare to the performances from the ARDT. The show was composed of eight unique and intriguing ensembles, all of which showcased outstanding performance ability. Although every piece was exceptional, I did have my favorites. Among my favorites were Iron Grace Mechinique, Hex, Don t Fall Asleep, Harlequinade Pas de Deux, and Lifted!. Iron Grace Mechinique was performed to Iron City by Lusine. The dancers movements were very precise and neat. The costumes reminded me of the movie Black Swan, because of its twisted and dark ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I interpreted this nightmare as her way of coping and confronting her demons until she could finally rest again. Strobe lights scattered around the dancers as the nightmare went on. Once she finally felt content enough to fall asleep, she went back under the covers. This dance was one of my favorites because I d never seen a bed used as a prop in a dance before. Last year, segment sales fell by 8 percent in a market where overall sales climbed by more than 5 percent. However, much of that drop can be attributed to a shutdown at the Fiat Chrysler (FCA) plant in Ontario, Canada early in 2015 explains GoodCarBadCar.net. That cessation allowed FCA to retool the plant to prepare for an all new model, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, now in production. The minivan market is certainly a small one, with just over 500,000 units sold in recent years. In 2000, just before the crossover SUV craze took hold, manufacturers sold a record 1.37 million units according to Bloomberg. African American religious music has been a fundamental part of the black experience in this country. This common staple of the African American experience can be traced back to the cruel system of slavery. It then evolved into what we refer to today as gospel music. The goal of this paper is to answer three main questions. What are the origins of African American religious music? How did this musical expression develop into a secular form of music? What is the future of African American religious music? These questions will be answered through factual research of African American traditions, artists, and various other sources. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gospel music was developed and inspired by the blues and jazz that was storming the country. Many traveling, singing preachers began to accompany themselves with piano and guitar. An example of this can be found with a gentleman who many refer to as the father of Gospel Music, Thomas A Dorsey. The son of a minister, Thomas Dorsey was a consummate musician and as a young man, he accompanied some of the most famous blues singers of all time including Bessie Smith and Ma Rainey. He also arranged and composed blues tunes. However, his penchant for bouncy tunes and bawdy lyrics did not keep him from attending the annual meeting of the National Baptist Convention. It was at these conventions that Dorsey first heard compositions of Charles A Tindley. Tindley inspired him. Musical historian Arna Bontemps argues that it was at this point in Dorsey s life when he began to write religious music. He abandoned his brash lyrics but not the jazz rhythms and blues flavor. Naturally, older conservatives considered this blending of sacred music, such as spirituals and hymns with secular music, such as blues and jazz, to be devil s music. They shunned it and declared Dorsey s brand of gospel music unworthy of a hearing within sanctuaries of the day. The traditional church failed to see the positive influence contemporary ...
