The Early Modern Era Between The 1500s And The 1800s
The timespan between the 1500s and the 1800s is commonly regarded as the Early Modern Era of
European history. This period directly follows the Middle Ages and ends around the time of the
French Revolution, which thereafter the modern period seemingly begins. This specific era consists of
profound and significant developments in Europe s economic history and here we can see the
beginnings of capitalism. This early modern period experienced important technological advances, the
Protestant Reformation and the decline of the Church, the formation of banking systems and savings,
nation state building, mercantilism and the beginnings of industrialization. The economic ideas that
emerged during this period are markedly different and some times at odds with those that prevailed
just right before during the Middle Ages. The early 1500 s began with a burst of economic activity,
which is largely credited to the important technological advances that occurred in Europe during this
time, which then led to relatively rapid economic, social and political changes throughout Europe.
The period preceding the Early Modern Era, the Middle Ages, reflects a society that is much different
to the world we see today. The Middle Ages can be characterized as a decentralized society where the
Church held great influence in both politics, economics and the society as a whole. The economy
placed much greater emphasis on agriculture, with Feudalism as the prevailing system of society.

Annie Hall and Jesus Essay
Annie Hall (1977), from director/actor/co writer Woody Allen, is a compelling masterpiece of
priceless, witty and quotable one liners within a matured, focused and thoughtful film. It is a
bittersweet romantic comedy of modern contemporary love and urban relationships that explores the
interaction of past and present, and the rise and fall of Alvy Singer s (Woody Allen) own challenging,
ambivalent New York romance with his opposite an equally insecure, shy, flighty Midwestern WASP
female: Annie Hall. (Diane Keaton)
The major theme of the film is that there are severe limitations in life (death and loss are the two most
prevalent), but that art forms (such as the printed word, films, and plays) have the power to reshape
reality and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alvy searches for the cause of the failure of his relationship with an introspect examination of his own
life. His paranoia may have been caused by the fact that he lived under the roller coaster in Coney
Island, but he tends to over exaggerate his childhood memories. He constantly jokes about his own
appearance, personality and sex. He never really found a true cause for the failure of his relationship.
It is true however, that Annie changes through the film. She begins as a shy, uneducated female, who
(with the help of Alvy) learns to be more confident and finds new aims in life. Alvy convinces her to
take college courses, though Annie always insists that Alvy thinks she s not smart enough . Alvy never
really truly finds a specific cause for the breakup, but realizes that Annie had been an influence on his
life. She made him think in sort of a different light, and her presence was just a joy.
Although many people do not believe that this movie should have won the 1977 Oscar for Best Picture
(since it was competing against Star Wars), many critics say that the choice was obvious. Annie Hall is
famous not only for his humorous screenplay, but also for its wide variety of cinematography. There
are a variety of innovative strategies and narrative techniques in the film that support the contention
that Woody Allen is functioning as a self conscious artist who evaluates his entire life and uses the
film medium to

Why Should Child Beauty Pageants Be Banned
Child beauty pageants create a boned with parent and child because they spend a lot of time together,
communication, and having something in common. For example, the child and parent will have to
spend a lot of time together. They will have to do hair and makeup which will last anywhere to two
hours to almost three. All the categories that the child joins will take time to practice which most
children send about seven hours a week on it, and with their parent being their coach that means they
will be doing all those things together ( Children and Beauty Pageants ). Another example,
communication is a big one. It is hard to get a teenage daughter to talk to the parent, but having
communication will help the relationship. The communication will be hard, but having something in
common will help. Which leads to the last example, having something in common can be hard if the
kid plays tennis or another sport because they will have a coach to help them unless the parent is the
coach. In most cases for pageants the parent is the coach so will always have something to talk about (
Children and Beauty Pageants ). As a result the parent and child boned will be stronger than it would
be with another sport. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the judges are worrying about how the kid looks on stage so the kids will have to worry
about it also. Another example, the mothers are making their kids do beauty pageants to make up for
what they have lost. The mothers lost their glory days as they grew up so they are forcing the kids to
do these things ( Should childhood beauty pageants be banned ). However, this is not true for every
family. Not all moms force their kids to do that. As a result, the kids are learning skills that will be
needed and are doing pageants by their

The Real Estate Market Of 2008 Is Notorious For Sparking...
The real estate market in 2008 is notorious for sparking one of the largest housing bubbles in history.
In order to understand the housing market during the bubble you need to recognize the events that
caused it. This was simply an economical failure from the hands of some of the most well known
financial institutions and the Government. Going back to 1997 to 2006, if you take a look at the Case
Shiller Home Price Index (the leading indicator for the US housing market residential prices), you will
discover a rise in nominal home prices of 188%. Although there is not a lot of consensus that uncovers
what sparked the housing bubble, countless people have spoken their opinion in regards to this:
misguided monetary policy; government policies pushing home ownership, consumer speculation of
rising home prices, and lower housing supply. These examples can t fully explain the crash, but they
can provide insight as to what may have happened or at least contributed to it. This article goes into
depth on some of the explanations to the housing bubble and how the burst of it eventually led to the
credit crisis which sparked the entire recession in 2008. Starting back in 1997 when the residential
prices began to appreciate into 2003, the rising home prices can be examined through economic
fundamentals. These fundamentals explain the price of buying a home in relation to rentals and
interest rates meaning that the housing market was not overvalued. Post 2003 2004, the

Lord Byron Analysis
Satire mocks a person or an event by using humor, irony, and exaggeration for the purpose to expose
the true identity of someone or something. In the early 19th century, Lord Byron, also known as
George Gordon, a leading figure in the Romantic Movement was heavily involved in satire because he
saw great poets such as Walter Scott, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and William Wordsworth betraying
their principles. The poets also lost their passion towards the Romantic Movement. In addition, the
usage of satire fits the personality of Byron because he always found his experiences in life humorous
and never lost touch with reality, which allowed him to grow as an influential poet. Furthermore, Lord
Byron s mission was to use satire to entertain his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ultimately, he found his voice in Childe Harold s Pilgrimage , and even though it was an unfinished
work, it continues to impress contemporary readers. Additionally, Lord Byron valued his image; he
enjoyed knowing that he is well known and that he has the attention of his readers. Despite Byron s
actions in his works, he is a passionate man of literature and esteems being a hero in the eyes of his
audience as he entertains them. In short, he loved to be the superstar of the movement and he enjoyed
all the attention that he was receiving. Since Byron started writing satire, he provoked poets that were
alive during his time because he was demeaning their works. In addition, when he received
humiliating feedback from his first publication back in 1808, Byron in response decided to write the
famous satirical poem, English Bards and Scotch Reviewers. The main reason that leads him to write
the literary work is that he became obsessed with his own image and felt embarrassed with the
criticism that was given to him. Furthermore, Byron was warned by his close friends not to publish his
literature with his name or the result would be facing the consequences by other Romantic critics. For
example, he thought that the current poets had the influence to end his career. After thinking about the
outcomes, Byron decided to publish the work anonymously and only target those that had given him
bad criticism. He highlighted how

Essay on Sigmund Freud s Ego Defense Mechanisms
Sigmund Freud is perhaps one of the most well known theorists in regards to the study of the human
psyche. Freud s model of the human psyche is comprised of three core elements: the Id, or the
unconscious mind; things out of our awareness. The
Superego, or the subconscious mind, and finally the Ego, which lies between the unconscious and
subconscious. Freud proposes that there are nine ego defense mechanisms that act the ego uses in its
job as the mediator between the id and the superego. In psychoanalysis, an ego defense mechanism is
an unconscious personality reaction that the ego uses to protect our conscious mind from threatening
feelings or perceptions.
The ego defense mechanisms are as follows: denial, displacement, ... Show more content on

If I m planning to do something but something else comes up, I may try and rationalize the decision
by putting down the other option weather is going to be bad , I didn t really want to do that anyway ,
or I can always go later . Another example is entertainment movies, music, or activities; I may not like
a certain type of film or genre of music, but when American pop culture is rife with that type of music
or movie, I ll try and rationalize my association with such things as everything in moderation or it s
fine, as long as I don t indulge . Displacement is another defense mechanism I ve noticed. If I m
having a bad day or if I m mad for one reason or another, I notice that I d often take it out on
undeserving people. Often I would use an angry tone with someone if I d just been in an argument, as
my anger has not yet subsided. As with everything, everything in moderation . I believe ego defense
mechanisms are not completely unhealthy, and that using them to deal with some situations can prove
to be beneficial in the development of our personality. However, if one relies primarily on ego defense
mechanisms and refuses to deal with circumstances head on , they will develop problems later in life.
In situations when one is undoubtedly guilty, it is impossible to rationalize or justify their actions or
attitudes and hide behind unfounded explanations in

Analysis Of Fear And Loathing By Hunter S. Thompson
In Fear and Loathing by Hunter S. Thompson money and credit cards played a major role during Dr.
Gonzo and Duke s stay at Las Vegas. Money not only helped them to fulfill their needs but also
reflects their status. Money in cash and credit form made their journey luxuries and respectful as they
got ceased from many problems caused by their inappropriate behaviour.
In the beginning, itself they got red convertible and bought lot of drugs to make their journey
adventurous. The Magazine that sent them to cover the motorcyclist race at Las Vegas offered Duke a
$300 for the trip expenses whereas Duke ended up buying drugs. This shows their adventure was all
about the presence of money to buy illegal drugs and get involved in illegal practices.
During the trip, they went to Casinos and became a part of gambling. The visits to the bars and pubs
was common part of their journey. The possession of cards and cash saved them from many problems.

What Does Arnold Shwarzenegger Mean
This is a man of bottomless ambition said George Butler, a very decorated film biographer. Arnold
Schwarzenegger is one of the hardest working American icons I have ever read about. Arnold
overcame adversity in many ways to become one of the most know people in America and all over the
world. He started with nothing except his mother as his only positive motivation in his early years.
Arnold wasn t going to stop until he was the best at everything he wanted to be. Acting was his big
ticket to fame. What really help him though in his other aspects of life was his bodybuilding. For me
life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but move
ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer these are words Arnold said himself and lived by. He was
going to be the best he could be if it killed him trying. Arnold s early years are what I think gives him
his rights to be a True American Icon. He did not have much as kid. He was the younger of two kids
and his dad would regularly beat him because he was the least athletic of the two. The brothers would
fight all the time, the only relationship he had with his family was his mother who taught him how to
be the best he could be. She gave him the discipline to be the he needed to be a bodybuilder. His father
disapproval and beating was his motivation. No one wants to be the little guy. He started body when
he was fifteen. Won Mr.Universe when he was twenty years old and won Mr. Olympia when he was

The Portrayal Of Mental Illness
The portrayal of mental illness to the public has a very important part in the discovery, understanding
and treatment of them. Common misconceptions and assumptions can be damaging to people with
such illnesses by the development of social stigmas and creation of outcasts in situations where
support is needed. In modern times communication to the public about mental illness comes in a
variety of ways, some accurate and some not. Movies are an example of a medium which has high
potential for erroneous depictions of these and are also widely publicised. This essay will look at the
movie The Bourne Identity (Liman, 2002) and whether or not the depiction of mental illness in the
protagonist has accuracy, or is an example of misinformation about the reality which many people
suffer through. The movie begins with a fishing boat picking up a man out of the water in a storm off
the coast of southern France. They treat his wounds and as he regains consciousness it becomes
apparent he has no idea of who he is or anything about himself. The only clue to his identity is a
device found under his skin which has the number for a safety deposit box in Zurich. He leaves the
boat and a travel there to find out the box is full of passports, thousands of dollars and a gun. The
American passport says his name is Jason Bourne. He quickly discovers that the authorities are trying
to catch him and he escapes the bank. Through all these events it is clear Bourne is an expert fighter,

Catholic Church Reform
I was sitting in a front desk on the far right of the History room when my teacher Ms. Fisher

Luther wanted to reform the catholic church, he was not planning on creating his own church. It was
then when Ms. Fisher taught us all the things that Martin Luther wanted to reform in the Catholic
church. Learning of this bothered me the most. Martin Luther came up with 95 complaints, called the
95 theses. These complaints were flaws that Martin Luther noticed in the Catholic Church. I was

Purgatory to a Christian is like the big decision, if your life on earth was worthy enough to go to

to be confirmed in a week and now I started to question my faith. I did not understand. I was raised in
the Catholic Church for seventeen years and now I hear of the truth of the Church. It was almost as if
the Catholic Church hid the history of disturbing acts to the people of the faith because the Church
was ashamed of what they did themselves. I needed reassurance to make sure that I would make the
right decision, to be confirmed in the church or not. Then I went to my mom for help on deciding what

The Effects Of Exorcism On The Evil Spirit
In all aspects of life, people come across things that simply cannot be explained. Whether people
choose to believe something or not; it still is prevalent in life. Exorcism is the expulsion or attempted
expulsion of an evil spirit from a person or a place (https://www.google.com). In horror films, the
main focus during the exorcism is on the evil spirit. Films have negatively drawn our attention to evil
spirit because it is more interesting to watch. But in reality, behind every exorcism there is an exorcist
that risks his life to save another: And the exorcist, who risks more than anyone else in an exorcism,
flits across the screen as necessary but, in the end, not so interesting as the sound effects (Martin 8).

(Martin 10). Not all exorcisms are preformed because of the possession of another human being. In
fact, most exorcisms are preformed in haunted buildings infested with evil spirits, which is known as
demonic infestation. The other types of infestation are oppression and possession. Oppression is when
a demon focuses on a particular person and possession is when the person has allowed the demon to
take over its whole body. The most common form, demonic infestation, occurred in the Cranmer
house. Bob Cranmer had bought his childhood dream house. But, after a few months of living there, a
demon had made itself present. Bob Cranmer had brought in Father Mike Salvagna, a priest, and
Adam Blai, a psychiatrist, to get rid of the demon. The demon s name was Moloch, whom was usually
associated with child sacrifice in the Old Testament. Moloch was in complete control of all possession
in the house. After the priest threw holy water on the walls, Moloch fought back by making the walls
bleed; which there was no scientific evidence in how the blood had gotten there. The strange part of
this story is that the demon did not cause a scene as the priest preformed the exorcism. Bob Cranmer

Comparing The House Of Usher And The Fall Of The Usher
Fear is something that we all ponder about it, we are often pulled in with many authors different way
of trying to explain it. In the gothic setting of The Fall of the Usher by Edgar Allan Poe and the
magical realism of House taken over by Julio Cortazar lies a type of dark force within the extensive
houses. In the fall of the house of usher we are introduced to the usher siblings and how they deal with
the evil within their vast mansion in the middle of nowhere. In house taken over we met two siblings
that live within the city and how they deal with their unstoppable force of evil. Both siblings have a
different way of dealing with their house, some go mad because of it. The plot of both stories is
similar but the way they explain their thoughts make the stories very different from each other. The
authors try develop through the characters, setting, and plot that although both stories are different in
many ways both captivate the reader with fear in different ways and create an overall different tone
and atmosphere for the reader. The characters in the stories are similar in a few aspects but ultimately
very different. One thing that is similar is that they are both siblings living alone in a very old house
since the rest of their family is nowhere to be seen: Her decease... would leave him the last of the
ancient race of ushers (19). All things considered, in both of the stories the siblings are both left alone

Reflection Paper On Powerlifting Moment
Powerlifting Progression
After enduring months of intense conditioning, the time came for us to see if our work paid off. It was
testing week for varsity football and bench press day had arrived. I maxed out at 335 pounds at the
beginning of the year and I was looking to make some gains. I did my dynamic warm up and static
stretches and hit a few reps of 300 pounds to stimulate blood flow. Routinely reaching for my
weightlifting belt, I arrived at a dilemma. The belt evidently grew a conscience of its own and decided
not to function. Presented with a chance to test the nature of my raw muscle, I had to visualize lifting
365 pounds without the aid of a weightlifting belt. I sat down and performed my normal pre lift rituals
to gain composure. Gradually lying backward, I grasped the bar as I adjusted my back to the bench.
With a deep breath, I un racked the bar and claimed the strongest bench press in the history of the
school. This record, however, was not the only accolade I acquired from powerlifting.
As a powerlifter, I am continuously prompted to assess my physical condition at any given time. This
awareness is very crucial because it has helped me balance the degree that I increase the intensity of
my workout to get stronger with the appropriate recovery time that allows my muscles to recuperate.
As the complexity of my workout progresses, my overall physical development follows suit. Knowing
that advancement in the weight room is enhanced through awareness, I greatly utilize this
understanding of growth when considering my intellectual progression.
If I want to become stronger in a particular lift, I start by highlighting details in individual segments of
that lift that can be improved. I make similar observations in regards to my intellectual state; for
example, stability exists as the foundation of my outlook on the world. From the atmosphere of my
upbringing as a homeschool student, to my pastimes as a powerlifter and critical thinker, stability
gives meaning to many properties that comprise my character. Being the third of eight children, most
of the things I do have already been done before at least once in my family. I am often tasked with an
expectation to succeed solely because of this precedent,

Lakota Tribe
The Lakota are a sub nation from the Sioux of South Dakota, however, they are originally from near
the great lakes of Minnesota. According to the South Dakota State Historical Society Education Kit
the story of their migration to the plains goes a such, one day a man appeared, and told them to travel
northward. The Lakota obeyed, and began the journey north. On their way they got cold, and the sun
was too weak to cook their food. Two young men had a vision, and following its instructions, they
gathered dry grasses and struck two flint stones together, creating a spark and making fire. There were

According to the Akta Lakota Museum and Cultural Center, the Lakota identified 13 months in a year

The Role the Education System Has as an Agent of...
The education system has impacted children in many ways and has helped to shape the future leaders
of society. In this essay my focus will be from the Conflict/ Marxist perspective, which proposes that
the education system is structured in such a way that some persons will benefit from it more than
others and that it is intended to cause social reproduction of inequality. Sociologists and economists
Herbert Gintis and Samuel Bowles argue (as cited in Haralambos and Holborn, 2004 p. 698) that there
is a close correspondence between the social relationships which govern personal interaction in the
work place and the social relationships of the education system. The education system in today s
society is considered one of the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Ballantine and Hammack. (2009) critics argue that schools are reproducing social classes
and maintaining the social hierarchy with education policies and practices that select students for
higher track. Yet some policies such as testing give the appearance of equality. This argument can be
used to relate to the situation of the education system present in the Antiguan society, where it is
training and placing persons in society. The Common Entrance Exam (CEE) and the Caribbean
Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) are forms of testing for both primary and secondary students
to display their intelligence and have the opportunity to lay the ground work to become a successful
individual later on in life. It is said to be a fair form of testing where no matter your social class in
society you have equal opportunity to, in the case of the Common Entrance Exam, get the best form of
secondary education, and with the CSEC, gain a tertiary level education. However, this concept of
equal opportunity through the policy of testing in this instance is somewhat flawed, since persons who
are in the Upper class who have the means and the capital through which to access the best form of
education often do. These persons are often able to acquire the necessary help for their children to do
well in the Common Entrance Exams and therefore get the best form of education, or they decide to

Essay On Eucharist And Eschatology
The Lord s Supper, or the Eucharist, is a representative meal of the Gospel; bread and wine represent
the human body of Jesus sent by the Father to be broken for our iniquities so that we may have
everlasting life through the Spirit. In this respect, it is easy to see how the Eucharist and eschatology
are related, for the sacrifice of Jesus gives believers hope for their future. However, there are many
intricate connections between the two doctrines that the Church and believers fail to recognize. In her
article Eucharist Eschatology , Martha Moore Keish explains that it is easy to recognize how the
Eucharist is reflective of the past and influences the present, but it hardly makes claims about the
future. Similarly, eschatology makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, eschatology is best understood when it considers Good Friday, for without His death,
Christians have no reason to hope for the renewal of creation. However, this renewal does not come
without judgment, a prominent tension point when discussing eschatology. Thus, Moore Keish argues
that in light of the Eucharist, this tension can be resolved. The Eucharist, she explains, serves as a
reminder that the Judge is also the Redeemer , yet it is important to remember that judgment has
already come when Jesus bears the sins of the world (122). For Christians, judgment is the past and
future, and it motivates present actions that are honoring and God fearing.
The doctrines of the Eucharist and eschatology are best understood in the context of each other, yet
Moore Keish continues, arguing that the unification of the doctrines unites the body of believers. In
partaking in the communal sacrament, believers get a taste of the eschatological feast of the Lamb
when they will all be seated at the table of the King (116). Therefore, communion is more an act
within community than a display of one s own salvation. The breaking of the bread and pouring of the
wine is an act in which the disciples partook. When the Church performs the Eucharist, they are
joining with the body of believers past and present in the remembrance of Good Friday while yearning
for the day all believers will be gathered around the Lord s table.
One of Moore Keish s central claims

Brand Loyalty at Whole Foods Market
Brand Loyalty At Whole Foods Market
1 Brand Loyalty
Simplified brand loyalty describes a status in which consumers determine their selves in; out of it they
become committed to a brand. Thereby they continue purchasing products or services of a specific
brand. At this point consumers rather spent more money on a product of a specific brand than buying
from multiple suppliers within the same category. Mainly brand loyalty is a result of consumer s
behavior, which is enforced through a company s measurements regarding branding. Branding is a
process that a company runs through in order to establish a new brand. The ambition here is to

people with lower income. Thereby Whole Foods Market manages to cover a wide spectrum of target
groups and to provide perfect conditions for brand loyalty.

Other than an intensified customer oriented concept, Whole Foods offers a variety of active customer

their loyalty and appreciation towards their customers.
At Whole Foods, each buyer has the possibility to print coupons, rewarding customers with special

The article Declining Biodiversity Speeds Spreading Of Disease is about an increase of the
transmission of disease, due to a decline in biodiversity from the disruption of ecosystems around the
world. Not only is it spreading diseases that we are already familiar with, but it also forming is
creating new strands of diseases. For example, in 2009 there were thirty thousand new confirmed
cases of Lyme disease in the United States. This was believed to be caused by the decline in predators
in the ecosystem and an increase of mice, deer and other tick host. Biologist Felicia Keesing, from
Bard College has been studying the ecology Lyme disease for years and says the evidence is backing
the link between biodiversity and the spread of disease.

The And Background Of Nightingale
One could argue, that the evolution of nursing began with Florence Nightingale. She has been
awarded the title of the founder of modern day nursing, and many of the practices she implemented in
an effort to improve patient care, has molded nursing practice into what is it today. The purpose of this
paper is to summarize the credentials and background of Nightingale, review her environmental
adaptation theory, and identify sources of her theory. We will also state the major concepts/definitions
of the theory as well as provide major assumptions of said theory. Credentials and Background of

Cherry and Jacob state that Nightingale introduced principles of asepsis and infection control, a
system for transcribing physician s orders, and a procedure to maintain patient records (Cherry Jacob,
2014, p. 8). Florence Nightingale also established the first nursing school in 1860 at the St. Thomas
Hospital of London (Cherry Jacob, 2014). Not only is Nightingale the founder of professional nursing,
she is also recognized for contributing to nursing research, involvement in political activism, and for
her establishment to provide formal nursing education to pursing nurses (Cherry Jacob, 2014).
Nightingale s Environmental Adaptation Theory Florence Nightingale is very well known for
transforming nursing in general as we know it. She viewed nursing as an art and educated nurses the
proper practice of professional nursing. Her theory of practice focused on environmental adaptation
that served as the foundation for promoting health (Cherry Jacob, 2014, p. 80). Nightingale believed
that a patient s health and healing process was greatly affected by their surrounding environment. She
described that ventilation, warmth, noise, diet, light, chattering hopes, and cleanliness were the
standards of her theory (Cherry Jacob, 2014, p. 81). Nightingale stated, keeping the

Nazi Invasion Of Holland Research Paper
The Nazi Invasion of Holland
Could you imagine being cooped up in a room barely three feet wide by ten feet long and sharing it
with fifteen other people? The Nazi army invaded Holland on May 10, 1940. In a matter of six days
the all Dutch forces and resistance had ceased. And so the hard and challenging life had begun. All the
Jews were sent to camps with no mercy or sympathy. The Dutch could not stop the advance of the
powerful German army. German bombers attacked Holland on May 10,1940. The target was the
Waalhaven airfield to the south of Rotterdam. An hour later the Germans dropped a battalion of
paratroopers were dropped onto the field. Dutch troops stationed at the field put up a fierce fight, but

The Pros And Cons Of The CIA
The CIA, otherwise known as the Central Intelligence Agency, is a federal agency that is independent
and has the responsibilities of providing the country of the United States with national security
intelligence. The CIA is in charge of gathering information that is going on from other countries in
order to help our own national security to become stronger, and to be able to protect the citizens of the
United States better. However, what happens when the CIA tries to protect it s citizens by screwing
over other countries? What happens when the CIA is responsible for destroying other countries
governments or placing leaders where we do not belong as a country to try and control politics that we
should not even be involving ourselves in. While the CIA is meant to have good intentions for
providing our country with national security, a lot of times the United States is responsible for
meddling in affairs we never belonged in which cause harm, devastation, or death to the countries we
force ourselves upon. In early 1951, the nationalization of Iran s oil industry by Mosaddegh was the
trigger for the United Kingdom to begin discussion with the United States to overthrow Mosaddegh
and return the power to the shah. When the coup attempt was thwarted, the CIA decided to call off
continuing with the operation because they did not want it to get traced back to the United States.
However, Kermit Roosevelt believed that the United States should not be done interfering with Iran,

Brutalism Research Paper
The New Brutalism is a term coined in the 1955 by Reyber Banham in his essay Architectural Critic in
December 1995. In this essay Banham endeavour to summarise this (at that time) new emerging
movement. Banham described how this movement has caused some polemics and critics. For some,
Brutalism does not fulfil the standards of classical aesthetic. As Thomas Aquinas said beauty supposed
to be quod visum placet(that which seen, pleases), image may be defined as quod visum perturbat that
which seen, affects the emotions, a situation which could subsume the pleasure caused by beauty.
Brutalism recognised both by the Brutalist and their critics as being anti art, or any rate anti beauty in
the classical aesthetic sense of the word. That statement

Persuasive Essay On Why People Should Pay For Their Own Sar
Having your life in danger is something that not many people can imagine. You only get one life and
when it is endangered you panic. By instinct the first thing you do is call for help and hope that
someone comes. But what about the lives of rescuers that come to help. Uncountable numbers of
rangers, firefighters, police, etc. have died trying to save people when there lives are endangered. On
top of that who puts in the money? Rescues can cost thousands of dollars and who pays for that? You
may be surprised but everyone pays for the rescue of people who put themselves at risk through tax
dollars. It isn t fair that we have to give up our hard earned money for the mistakes of others. People
should have to pay for their own SAR. People should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If people are charged for search and rescue maybe they will be more careful out in the wilderness. By
calling someone for help you aren t the only one in danger anymore; You are now endangering them
as well. Some may say people should be given the right to free SAR so people won t be afraid to call
for help even if they can t afford them but this isn t fair to the people who answer the call. What about
the lives of the people that come to rescue them? What about their lives. For example one ranger who
died trying to save someone was Nick Hall...On June 21, Hall and other rangers were assisting
climbers who were injured at 13,800 feet on the Emmons Glacier section of the mountain. After
helping them into a rescue helicopter, he was trying to secure an empty litter in high winds when he
fell 2,500 feet onto the Winthrop Glacier (Davidson 2012). If these people knew they would be
charged maybe they wouldn t make the mistake of climbing the mountain without knowing the
dangers. This is why people should have to pay for their own SAR because by trying to save people,
people put their own lives in big

Annotated Bibliography On Juvenile Incarceration
Annotated Bibliography
THESIS STATEMENT: The Department of Juvenile Justice should provide effective diversion options
as alternatives rather than incarceration to deter juveniles from committing crimes because
imprisonment has done more harm than good, causing depression, suicidal thoughts and more acting
out behaviors.
Annie E. Casey, F. (2011). No place for kids: The case for reducing juvenile incarceration. Issue Brief.
Retrieved from http://www.aecf.org/resources/no place for kids full report/
The report, No Place for Kids: The Case for Reducing Juvenile Incarceration, published by the Annie
E. Casey Foundation, has conducted years of research and found that incarceration has been
unsuccessful, in fact incarceration has done nothing positive and is a failed strategy for fighting crime
among youths. Also in this report, the Annie E. Casey foundation wants the community to work
towards a more productive, humane, and low cost approach to youth diversion programs and
rehabilitation. The report recommends the limitation for correctional placements while the government
invests in non residential alternatives diversion programs, and substitute imprisonment for treatment
oriented facilities for minor crimes and offenses (Casey, 2011). Thus, I think this report will assist me
in supporting my thesis statement since I support diversion programs for juveniles. The Annie E.

National Trust For Historic Preservation
Heritage tourism is a growing niche in the tourism industry and it is something that most tourists will
engage at. By breaking the term is separated into heritage and tourism, the term heritage is mainly
associated with the meaning of the inheritance of something that is passed on throughout the ages
(Nuryanti, 1996). Tourism can be interpreted as the movement to somewhere to experience a contrast
to the current way of living (Miller, 2015). The definition that the National Trust for Historic
Preservation provides, traveling to experience the places, artifacts and activities that authentically
represent the stories and people of the past and present explains heritage tourism very well (Hargrove,
2002). A more cynical definition explains heritage tourism as a contemporary commodity purposefully
created to satisfy contemporary consumption . For the purpose of this paper, heritage tourism shall be
defined as traveling to satisfy the feeling of contrast of experiencing the places, artifacts, and activities
that have undergone the passage of time through the guise of authenticity. Tourists going to see the
Roman Coliseum casually, or tourists participating in a local ritual, in this paper, would be both
considered as heritage tourism. It is also important to know the broker local tourist model, which is
Fig 2 in the appendix, and the terms will be defined subsequently. Brokers will be defined as any

Analysis Of Death On The Pale Horse
This paper is going to analyze the context within which the work of art, Death on the Pale Horse was
created. In addition, the paper will also discuss the medium that the artist selected and highlight a
number of the other fascinating aspects of this Benjamin West painting.
Benjamin West first displayed his work of art in 1784 at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, in
conjunction with three different works that he had planned to paint. The artist used oil on canvas as his
final medium and the painting measures twenty three by fifty inches. It is signed within the lower right
corner B. West 1796 and is now displayed at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Historians don t seem to be

The style that West used is described best through his choice of colors that are very warm, and thus, in
all probability influenced other painters who were part of the Romantic era of the Nineteenth Century.
What is distinctive regarding this specific painting is that it merges art with recreation. The theme is
deep as a result of the many things that are happening within the background and the foreground. As
an example, there are bodies with garments ripped of from the battle and a fallen horse at the front
center of the painting; however, the background also contains many winged demons and murderers
who ride in from some distant place.
As for the forms within the painting, they are realistic, and never flat. The horses are spherical and
appear to be very strong; the lion s claws are immense and tear blood from the flesh of the person the
lion attacks. The forms are well accomplished and reinforce the drama of the scene, which the artist
meant to depict. All of the shapes are meant to be full to provide weight and seriousness to the piece.
None of the forms are lightweight or ethereal, even the clouds are giant and full. Most of the figures
have significant shadowing and strips of highlight to deepen the distinction between the dark and
lightweight colors.
With reference to the lines within the painting, every figure within the painting, including all of the
ghosts that float in from heaven, are well carved. The lines are harsh

  • 2. The Early Modern Era Between The 1500s And The 1800s The timespan between the 1500s and the 1800s is commonly regarded as the Early Modern Era of European history. This period directly follows the Middle Ages and ends around the time of the French Revolution, which thereafter the modern period seemingly begins. This specific era consists of profound and significant developments in Europe s economic history and here we can see the beginnings of capitalism. This early modern period experienced important technological advances, the Protestant Reformation and the decline of the Church, the formation of banking systems and savings, nation state building, mercantilism and the beginnings of industrialization. The economic ideas that emerged during this period are markedly different and some times at odds with those that prevailed just right before during the Middle Ages. The early 1500 s began with a burst of economic activity, which is largely credited to the important technological advances that occurred in Europe during this time, which then led to relatively rapid economic, social and political changes throughout Europe. The period preceding the Early Modern Era, the Middle Ages, reflects a society that is much different to the world we see today. The Middle Ages can be characterized as a decentralized society where the Church held great influence in both politics, economics and the society as a whole. The economy placed much greater emphasis on agriculture, with Feudalism as the prevailing system of society. What came with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Annie Hall and Jesus Essay Annie Hall (1977), from director/actor/co writer Woody Allen, is a compelling masterpiece of priceless, witty and quotable one liners within a matured, focused and thoughtful film. It is a bittersweet romantic comedy of modern contemporary love and urban relationships that explores the interaction of past and present, and the rise and fall of Alvy Singer s (Woody Allen) own challenging, ambivalent New York romance with his opposite an equally insecure, shy, flighty Midwestern WASP female: Annie Hall. (Diane Keaton) The major theme of the film is that there are severe limitations in life (death and loss are the two most prevalent), but that art forms (such as the printed word, films, and plays) have the power to reshape reality and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alvy searches for the cause of the failure of his relationship with an introspect examination of his own life. His paranoia may have been caused by the fact that he lived under the roller coaster in Coney Island, but he tends to over exaggerate his childhood memories. He constantly jokes about his own appearance, personality and sex. He never really found a true cause for the failure of his relationship. It is true however, that Annie changes through the film. She begins as a shy, uneducated female, who (with the help of Alvy) learns to be more confident and finds new aims in life. Alvy convinces her to take college courses, though Annie always insists that Alvy thinks she s not smart enough . Alvy never really truly finds a specific cause for the breakup, but realizes that Annie had been an influence on his life. She made him think in sort of a different light, and her presence was just a joy. Although many people do not believe that this movie should have won the 1977 Oscar for Best Picture (since it was competing against Star Wars), many critics say that the choice was obvious. Annie Hall is famous not only for his humorous screenplay, but also for its wide variety of cinematography. There are a variety of innovative strategies and narrative techniques in the film that support the contention that Woody Allen is functioning as a self conscious artist who evaluates his entire life and uses the film medium to ... • 4. Why Should Child Beauty Pageants Be Banned Child beauty pageants create a boned with parent and child because they spend a lot of time together, communication, and having something in common. For example, the child and parent will have to spend a lot of time together. They will have to do hair and makeup which will last anywhere to two hours to almost three. All the categories that the child joins will take time to practice which most children send about seven hours a week on it, and with their parent being their coach that means they will be doing all those things together ( Children and Beauty Pageants ). Another example, communication is a big one. It is hard to get a teenage daughter to talk to the parent, but having communication will help the relationship. The communication will be hard, but having something in common will help. Which leads to the last example, having something in common can be hard if the kid plays tennis or another sport because they will have a coach to help them unless the parent is the coach. In most cases for pageants the parent is the coach so will always have something to talk about ( Children and Beauty Pageants ). As a result the parent and child boned will be stronger than it would be with another sport. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the judges are worrying about how the kid looks on stage so the kids will have to worry about it also. Another example, the mothers are making their kids do beauty pageants to make up for what they have lost. The mothers lost their glory days as they grew up so they are forcing the kids to do these things ( Should childhood beauty pageants be banned ). However, this is not true for every family. Not all moms force their kids to do that. As a result, the kids are learning skills that will be needed and are doing pageants by their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Real Estate Market Of 2008 Is Notorious For Sparking... The real estate market in 2008 is notorious for sparking one of the largest housing bubbles in history. In order to understand the housing market during the bubble you need to recognize the events that caused it. This was simply an economical failure from the hands of some of the most well known financial institutions and the Government. Going back to 1997 to 2006, if you take a look at the Case Shiller Home Price Index (the leading indicator for the US housing market residential prices), you will discover a rise in nominal home prices of 188%. Although there is not a lot of consensus that uncovers what sparked the housing bubble, countless people have spoken their opinion in regards to this: misguided monetary policy; government policies pushing home ownership, consumer speculation of rising home prices, and lower housing supply. These examples can t fully explain the crash, but they can provide insight as to what may have happened or at least contributed to it. This article goes into depth on some of the explanations to the housing bubble and how the burst of it eventually led to the credit crisis which sparked the entire recession in 2008. Starting back in 1997 when the residential prices began to appreciate into 2003, the rising home prices can be examined through economic fundamentals. These fundamentals explain the price of buying a home in relation to rentals and interest rates meaning that the housing market was not overvalued. Post 2003 2004, the ... • 8. Lord Byron Analysis Satire mocks a person or an event by using humor, irony, and exaggeration for the purpose to expose the true identity of someone or something. In the early 19th century, Lord Byron, also known as George Gordon, a leading figure in the Romantic Movement was heavily involved in satire because he saw great poets such as Walter Scott, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and William Wordsworth betraying their principles. The poets also lost their passion towards the Romantic Movement. In addition, the usage of satire fits the personality of Byron because he always found his experiences in life humorous and never lost touch with reality, which allowed him to grow as an influential poet. Furthermore, Lord Byron s mission was to use satire to entertain his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ultimately, he found his voice in Childe Harold s Pilgrimage , and even though it was an unfinished work, it continues to impress contemporary readers. Additionally, Lord Byron valued his image; he enjoyed knowing that he is well known and that he has the attention of his readers. Despite Byron s actions in his works, he is a passionate man of literature and esteems being a hero in the eyes of his audience as he entertains them. In short, he loved to be the superstar of the movement and he enjoyed all the attention that he was receiving. Since Byron started writing satire, he provoked poets that were alive during his time because he was demeaning their works. In addition, when he received humiliating feedback from his first publication back in 1808, Byron in response decided to write the famous satirical poem, English Bards and Scotch Reviewers. The main reason that leads him to write the literary work is that he became obsessed with his own image and felt embarrassed with the criticism that was given to him. Furthermore, Byron was warned by his close friends not to publish his literature with his name or the result would be facing the consequences by other Romantic critics. For example, he thought that the current poets had the influence to end his career. After thinking about the outcomes, Byron decided to publish the work anonymously and only target those that had given him bad criticism. He highlighted how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To answer some of the questions i asked myself the day i watched the documentary. The Marshall Islands are marking 60 years since the devastating US hydrogen bomb test at Bikini Atoll, with exiled islanders saying they are too fearful to ever go back because of nuclear contamination. • 10. Essay on Sigmund Freud s Ego Defense Mechanisms Sigmund Freud is perhaps one of the most well known theorists in regards to the study of the human psyche. Freud s model of the human psyche is comprised of three core elements: the Id, or the unconscious mind; things out of our awareness. The Superego, or the subconscious mind, and finally the Ego, which lies between the unconscious and subconscious. In modern times communication to the public about mental illness comes in a variety of ways, some accurate and some not. Movies are an example of a medium which has high potential for erroneous depictions of these and are also widely publicised. This essay will look at the movie The Bourne Identity (Liman, 2002) and whether or not the depiction of mental illness in the protagonist has accuracy, or is an example of misinformation about the reality which many people suffer through. The movie begins with a fishing boat picking up a man out of the water in a storm off the coast of southern France. They treat his wounds and as he regains consciousness it becomes apparent he has no idea of who he is or anything about himself. The only clue to his identity is a device found under his skin which has the number for a safety deposit box in Zurich. It was testing week for varsity football and bench press day had arrived. I maxed out at 335 pounds at the beginning of the year and I was looking to make some gains. I did my dynamic warm up and static stretches and hit a few reps of 300 pounds to stimulate blood flow. Routinely reaching for my weightlifting belt, I arrived at a dilemma. The belt evidently grew a conscience of its own and decided not to function. Presented with a chance to test the nature of my raw muscle, I had to visualize lifting 365 pounds without the aid of a weightlifting belt. I sat down and performed my normal pre lift rituals to gain composure. Gradually lying backward, I grasped the bar as I adjusted my back to the bench. With a deep breath, I un racked the bar and claimed the strongest bench press in the history of the school. This record, however, was not the only accolade I acquired from powerlifting. As a powerlifter, I am continuously prompted to assess my physical condition at any given time. This awareness is very crucial because it has helped me balance the degree that I increase the intensity of my workout to get stronger with the appropriate recovery time that allows my muscles to recuperate. As the complexity of my workout progresses, my overall physical development follows suit. Knowing that advancement in the weight room is enhanced through awareness, I greatly utilize this understanding of growth when considering my intellectual progression. If I want to become stronger in a particular lift, I start by highlighting details in individual segments of that lift that can be improved. I make similar observations in regards to my intellectual state; for example, stability exists as the foundation of my outlook on the world. From the atmosphere of my upbringing as a homeschool student, to my pastimes as a powerlifter and critical thinker, stability gives meaning to many properties that comprise my character. Essay On Eucharist And Eschatology The Lord s Supper, or the Eucharist, is a representative meal of the Gospel; bread and wine represent the human body of Jesus sent by the Father to be broken for our iniquities so that we may have everlasting life through the Spirit. In this respect, it is easy to see how the Eucharist and eschatology are related, for the sacrifice of Jesus gives believers hope for their future. However, there are many intricate connections between the two doctrines that the Church and believers fail to recognize. Similarly, eschatology makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, eschatology is best understood when it considers Good Friday, for without His death, Christians have no reason to hope for the renewal of creation. However, this renewal does not come without judgment, a prominent tension point when discussing eschatology. Thus, Moore Keish argues that in light of the Eucharist, this tension can be resolved. The Eucharist, she explains, serves as a reminder that the Judge is also the Redeemer , yet it is important to remember that judgment has already come when Jesus bears the sins of the world (122). For Christians, judgment is the past and future, and it motivates present actions that are honoring and God fearing. The doctrines of the Eucharist and eschatology are best understood in the context of each other, yet Moore Keish continues, arguing that the unification of the doctrines unites the body of believers. In partaking in the communal sacrament, believers get a taste of the eschatological feast of the Lamb when they will all be seated at the table of the King (116). Therefore, communion is more an act within community than a display of one s own salvation. The breaking of the bread and pouring of the wine is an act in which the disciples partook. When the Church performs the Eucharist, they are joining with the body of believers past and present in the remembrance of Good Friday while yearning for the day all believers will be gathered around the Lord s table. What happens when the CIA is responsible for destroying other countries governments or placing leaders where we do not belong as a country to try and control politics that we should not even be involving ourselves in. While the CIA is meant to have good intentions for providing our country with national security, a lot of times the United States is responsible for meddling in affairs we never belonged in which cause harm, devastation, or death to the countries we force ourselves upon. In early 1951, the nationalization of Iran s oil industry by Mosaddegh was the trigger for the United Kingdom to begin discussion with the United States to overthrow Mosaddegh and return the power to the shah. When the coup attempt was thwarted, the CIA decided to call off continuing with the operation because they did not want it to get traced back to the United States. However, Kermit Roosevelt believed that the United States should not be done interfering with Iran, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Brutalism Research Paper The New Brutalism is a term coined in the 1955 by Reyber Banham in his essay Architectural Critic in December 1995. In this essay Banham endeavour to summarise this (at that time) new emerging movement. Banham described how this movement has caused some polemics and critics. For some, Brutalism does not fulfil the standards of classical aesthetic. As Thomas Aquinas said beauty supposed to be quod visum placet(that which seen, pleases), image may be defined as quod visum perturbat that which seen, affects the emotions, a situation which could subsume the pleasure caused by beauty. Brutalism recognised both by the Brutalist and their critics as being anti art, or any rate anti beauty in the classical aesthetic sense of the word. That statement ... • 33. Persuasive Essay On Why People Should Pay For Their Own Sar Having your life in danger is something that not many people can imagine. You only get one life and when it is endangered you panic. By instinct the first thing you do is call for help and hope that someone comes. But what about the lives of rescuers that come to help. Uncountable numbers of rangers, firefighters, police, etc. have died trying to save people when there lives are endangered. On top of that who puts in the money? Rescues can cost thousands of dollars and who pays for that? You may be surprised but everyone pays for the rescue of people who put themselves at risk through tax dollars. It isn t fair that we have to give up our hard earned money for the mistakes of others. People should have to pay for their own SAR. People should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If people are charged for search and rescue maybe they will be more careful out in the wilderness. By calling someone for help you aren t the only one in danger anymore; You are now endangering them as well. Some may say people should be given the right to free SAR so people won t be afraid to call for help even if they can t afford them but this isn t fair to the people who answer the call. What about the lives of the people that come to rescue them? What about their lives. For example one ranger who died trying to save someone was Nick Hall...On June 21, Hall and other rangers were assisting climbers who were injured at 13,800 feet on the Emmons Glacier section of the mountain. After helping them into a rescue helicopter, he was trying to secure an empty litter in high winds when he fell 2,500 feet onto the Winthrop Glacier (Davidson 2012). If these people knew they would be charged maybe they wouldn t make the mistake of climbing the mountain without knowing the dangers. This is why people should have to pay for their own SAR because by trying to save people, people put their own lives in big ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Annotated Bibliography On Juvenile Incarceration Annotated Bibliography THESIS STATEMENT: The Department of Juvenile Justice should provide effective diversion options as alternatives rather than incarceration to deter juveniles from committing crimes because imprisonment has done more harm than good, causing depression, suicidal thoughts and more acting out behaviors. Annie E. Casey, F. (2011). No place for kids: The case for reducing juvenile incarceration. Issue Brief. Retrieved from http://www.aecf.org/resources/no place for kids full report/ The report, No Place for Kids: The Case for Reducing Juvenile Incarceration, published by the Annie E. Casey Foundation, has conducted years of research and found that incarceration has been unsuccessful, in fact incarceration has done nothing positive and is a failed strategy for fighting crime among youths. Also in this report, the Annie E. Casey foundation wants the community to work towards a more productive, humane, and low cost approach to youth diversion programs and rehabilitation. The report recommends the limitation for correctional placements while the government invests in non residential alternatives diversion programs, and substitute imprisonment for treatment oriented facilities for minor crimes and offenses (Casey, 2011). Thus, I think this report will assist me in supporting my thesis statement since I support diversion programs for juveniles. The Annie E. Casey Foundation (1990) is a credible government organization and a primary source that focuses on Juvenile ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It s realistic because these types of things really do happen, unfortunately quite regularly as well. It is both gritty and austere because the conditions of this scenario are somewhat rigid. These tones affect the mood and message by giving it a gritty feeling, as well as informing the reader that these things actually did happen, and this was how it transpired. 11. Analysis By using the introductory excerpt of In Cold Blood, Truman Capote was able to convey his solemn and mysterious view of Holcomb, Kansas by employing imagery, figurative language, and the selection of detail, thus setting the stage for the act about to occur. Argument Both Dick and Perry were involved in the Kansas murders, but only Perry actually committed the horrendous deed of killing four human beings, whereas Dick was only an accomplice in the robbery gone wrong; Perry deserved the death penalty but Dick did not. Synthesis Smith and Hicock both received the death penalty even though the M Naghten rule proves they should not have; the use of Capital Punishment in Kansas was reviewed due to this case because of their ... • 37. National Trust For Historic Preservation Heritage tourism is a growing niche in the tourism industry and it is something that most tourists will engage at. By breaking the term is separated into heritage and tourism, the term heritage is mainly associated with the meaning of the inheritance of something that is passed on throughout the ages (Nuryanti, 1996). Tourism can be interpreted as the movement to somewhere to experience a contrast to the current way of living (Miller, 2015). The definition that the National Trust for Historic Preservation provides, traveling to experience the places, artifacts and activities that authentically represent the stories and people of the past and present explains heritage tourism very well (Hargrove, 2002). A more cynical definition explains heritage tourism as a contemporary commodity purposefully created to satisfy contemporary consumption . For the purpose of this paper, heritage tourism shall be defined as traveling to satisfy the feeling of contrast of experiencing the places, artifacts, and activities that have undergone the passage of time through the guise of authenticity. Tourists going to see the Roman Coliseum casually, or tourists participating in a local ritual, in this paper, would be both considered as heritage tourism. It is also important to know the broker local tourist model, which is Fig 2 in the appendix, and the terms will be defined subsequently. • 38. Analysis Of Death On The Pale Horse This paper is going to analyze the context within which the work of art, Death on the Pale Horse was created. In addition, the paper will also discuss the medium that the artist selected and highlight a number of the other fascinating aspects of this Benjamin West painting. Benjamin West first displayed his work of art in 1784 at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, in conjunction with three different works that he had planned to paint. The artist used oil on canvas as his final medium and the painting measures twenty three by fifty inches. It is signed within the lower right corner B. West 1796 and is now displayed at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Historians don t seem to be certain whether or not the creator was in need of cash and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The style that West used is described best through his choice of colors that are very warm, and thus, in all probability influenced other painters who were part of the Romantic era of the Nineteenth Century. What is distinctive regarding this specific painting is that it merges art with recreation. The theme is deep as a result of the many things that are happening within the background and the foreground. As an example, there are bodies with garments ripped of from the battle and a fallen horse at the front center of the painting; however, the background also contains many winged demons and murderers who ride in from some distant place. As for the forms within the painting, they are realistic, and never flat. The horses are spherical and appear to be very strong; the lion s claws are immense and tear blood from the flesh of the person the lion attacks. The forms are well accomplished and reinforce the drama of the scene, which the artist meant to depict. All of the shapes are meant to be full to provide weight and seriousness to the piece. None of the forms are lightweight or ethereal, even the clouds are giant and full. Most of the figures have significant shadowing and strips of highlight to deepen the distinction between the dark and lightweight colors. With reference to the lines within the painting, every figure within the painting, including all of the ghosts that float in from heaven, are well carved. The lines are harsh ...
