The City of Casselberry has had experience using Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) for road rehabilitation projects since 2013. They developed a mandatory WMA specification and have used it to resurface over 15 miles of roads. Contractors report that WMA has advantages like improved workability, especially in winter conditions. It also produces a nicer quality surface when used in thin lifts compared to hot mix asphalt. The city has observed WMA provides a quality surface at a reasonable cost and estimates carbon dioxide savings. However, the long term longevity benefits compared to hot mix asphalt have yet to be determined.

Reston Parkway at Dulles Toll Road EB and WB provides pedestrian access improvement at the intersection of Reston Parkway at Dulles Toll Road and to the intersection of Fairfax County Parkway and Sunset Hills Road.
Reston Parkway at Dulles Toll Road EB off-ramp and Reston Parkway at Dulles Toll Road WB on-ramp was substantially completed on October 6, 2021. Due to COVID-19 Pandemic, some of pedestrian signal electrical hardware and software supply delayed and created huge gap from the substantial completion date to the full activation of the project. The scope of this project was construction of concrete median islands, curb ramps, curb and gutter, and full replacement of asphalt trail, asphalt mill/overlay, signs and new pedestrian signals installation.

Rogers and Gabriel received an honorable mention for the Suffolk Seaboard Coastline Trail, an 11-mile multiuse trail. The projects improved safety and traffic flow as well as providing a recreational asset. Rogers and Gabriel will be recognized at the APWA Mid-Atlantic Chapter's annual conference in May.

SMART Plan DTPW Corridor Estimates

It includes maintenance procedures, inventories, inspections, priorities and supporting documents. The CMP aims to provide accountability through a methodical, measurable approach. Challenges in developing the CMP included resources and buy-in, while opportunities include funding options and changes in leadership supporting the new approach.
