The Sex Of Sex Work
The world of sex work has been around for countless years. Hollywood portrays it as a normal
way of life in all the cowboy movies and put a glamorous feel around it. However, Hollywood is
about selling dreams and fantasy, though the reality is quite different. The reality is that sex work
is dangerous. The act in and of itself is not usually dangerous, nevertheless, the situations in which it
needs to be conducted are. Today s sex work incorporates more than just prostitution; the adult film
industry, Dom/Sub work, phone sex operators, together with exotic dancing are all considered sex
work. The focus of this essay has been narrowed down to just the prostitution aspect of sex work
and the decriminalization for the means of creating a safer environment for the worker.
Decriminalization of this particular type of sex work would render the job safer for the workers
given that they would have the ability to screen clients, an established place of employment, safety
in numbers, a positive relationship with law enforcement, and enhanced means to protect
themselves from health risks.
Screening of the clients is a key aspect of keeping the sex workers safe. Screening the clients is a
lot about reading people, their clothes, their attitude, how they hold themselves and trusting the
experience of the worker s instinct. The screening process will not work every single time,
however, the ability to make the decision to go with a client or not can save the workers life.

Identify The Different Types Of Diversity
The society in which we live in today is filled with a diverse group of people. Generally, when
people think about diversity, demographics are primarily considered. This is because diversity is
associated with our various ethnic groups. The United States is home to over 300 million people
and each one of them is different; therefore, the U.S. is known as the melting pot . Along with the
many types of races, there are a variety of age groups, religious beliefs, and personal backgrounds.
Although we typically think about physical appearance and social status, we never really consider
someone s personality being associated with diversity. Each person has a different personality from
everyone else and that is due to two factors nature and nurture.... Show more content on

First, these people are loyal to family and friends. They also take to heart respect and morality. As
a result, melancholics are conformists because they feel comfortable respecting the authorities. In
fact, their sense of loyalty and responsibility allows them to feel the need to fit in with the larger
community. Next, they live a routine and repetitive lifestyle because they favor order and dislike
the unpredictable. The limited variety in their life is due to how close they observe details in
everything. They are not easily bored and they excel at tasks that require repetition and
concentration. This skill is essential for persistence and patience. Lastly, they are excellent
managers and administrators. This is a result because they adhere to the rules, guidelines, and

Dispersion of Different Silane Modified TiO2 Rutile...
Figure 3 shows dispersion of untreated, APS, FHES and TMSO treated TRNPs in different
solvents after centrifuging at 1000 rpm for 15 minutes. After centrifuging, if most of the particle
settles down it is an indicator of poor dispersion of the particle in the solvent. When the relatively
large particles settles down and small particles remains in the suspension it is an indicator of
medium dispersion. If all the particles remains in the solventand no precipitation is found it is an
indicator of very good dispersion. From Figure 3 it is found that, untreated TiO2 is best dispersed
in DMF and DMAc polar aprotic solvent which is also supported from small Z average diameter
and acceptable PDI value. For untreated NP medium dispersion is found in DI water and ethanol
and poor dispersion in TCB, Toluene, DCM, choloroform, THF and isopropanol. As the untreated
TRNP is hydrophilic in nature the particles tends to disperse well in relatively polar solvent. APS
treated titania nanoparticle renders hydrophobic behavior to the surface [20] and essentially doesn
t dissolve in DI water, DMF and DMAC etc. highly polar solvent. The best solvent for APS
modified titania is ethanol, isopropanol and formic acidwhich is conspicuous both from digital
image and small mean diameter value of the nanoparticle. Due to the presence of NH2 functional
group at the end of organic surface of APS treated TRNPs the hydrogen bonding force is the
dominant dispersion force. As a result, APS treated NPs

Essay On The Cost Of College Education
The cost of college tuition is often seen as the drawback that causes high school graduates to
choose not to enroll into higher education. This is highly unfortunate because college education is
worth the cost. The cost may be unappealing, but there is assistance for the tuition fees, for
example, financial aid and student loans. It is worth the cost for high school graduates to go to
collegefor the reasons that it will allow for these young adults to gain an abiding profession that
can support them for the rest of their working lives after college, it will also provide them with
greater salaries than one would have with just a high school diploma, and ultimately it creates
happy, knowledgeable, and healthy people. What people often do not... Show more content on

Therefore, stopping at a high school diploma is not beneficial to anyone under this age. There is
on average seven years more of learning to do which is why college is provided as a higher
education to grow more knowledge. Ben Weider, wrote about how Peter Thiel, co founder of Pay
Pal, would pay 24 winners of his Thiel Fellowship $100,000 not to attend college for two years
and to develop business ideas instead. However, the outcome was that he realized that this route
would only be beneficial to a small fraction of students, because their level of education was not
as high as if they were straight out of college (Source E). This entails that with a vaster education
a person would be more knowledgeable for certain criteria. In Source F, the survey shows that
almost a half of the surveyers believe the main purpose of college education was to teach work
related skills and knowledge, and 39 percent said it was to help a student grow intellectually.
Now 74 percent said their college education was very useful in helping them grow intellectually,
and 69 percent said it helped them grow and mature as a person. This goes to show that college
can really help a person grow more knowledge, so that by the time their frontal lobe is done
growing they would have still been learning rather than lacking

An Explication of W.H. Auden quot;Musee Des Beaux Arts quot;
In poetry, the use of allusions is very common. There are briefs, usually indirect references to
another work or to real or historical events or persons, traditionally as a way of connecting those
elements as well as enriching the meaning of the current work through associations with the other.
In his poem Musee des Beaux Arts, W.H. Auden uses allusions as a way of drawing connections
between his poem, Peter Brueghel s painting The Fall of Icarus, the myth, and the humanity
indifference toward one s suffering.
Icarus, the subject of this poem, was a figure from Greek mythology. He was the son of Dedalus,
who, in order to escape from prison in Crete, made two pairs of wings, one for him and one for his
son, Icarus. As Icarus and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the painting, the young Icarus falls out of the sky and is swept away in death s cold embrace
while the ploughman continued plowing. The ploughman did not care about the splashing sound
Icarus made, when he felt into the water. Auden s allusion to the fallen Icarus in Breughel s
painting is seen as a significant event as to make the point of the poem stronger: apathy of human
suffering.
Like many other sonnets, Musee des Beaux Arts is divided into two parts. In general, the first lines
of the poem explore the depth of humanities indifference to one another. Auden makes allusion to
the old master painters of the museum of fine art, who were never wrong about suffering. The
old masters understood that people often turned a blind eye to one another s suffering. The Old
Masters were artists of the 18th century whose works, masterpieces of the Renaissance, also are
called old masters. They often painted classical scenes of pagan Greece and Rome as well as
scenes of life and death, like the Fall of Icarus.
About suffering they were never wrong,
The old Masters: how well they understood
Its human position; how it takes place
While someone is eating or opening a window...
How, when the aged are reverently, passionately waiting
For the miraculous birth, there always must be
Children who did not specially want it to happen...
The poem reveals that suffering is part of everyday life, so much that those

Impact Of Political And Economic Changes On American...
During the era of 1810 to 1850, many changes took place that shaped our government today. Some
political changes that took place include: the expanding of democracy, voting privileges, eligibility
to hold office requirements, a new constitution, method of choosing presidential electors, the rapid
growth of the electorate, political parties, nullification, the removal of governmental deposits, etc.
An economic change that shaped US government was mainly the industrial revolution. Cultural
changes can be seen in accordance with the political and economic changes, this is because the
people had to adapt to the new changes and it shaped their culture. Their cultural changes were
mainly driven by their wanted virtues of an artistic lifestyle (Brinkley,... Show more content on

The industrial revolution came about because of many variables: progresses in transportation and
communications, the development of manufacturing innovation, the advancement of new
frameworks of business association, and maybe most importantly, increases in population
development. As far as population trends, America became more populous as the years went by.
The population was about 4 million in 1790. By 1820, it had reached 10 million and 17 million by
1840. New developments in public health played an important role in the population growth.
(Brinkley, 222) Railroads were a very efficient way of transportation. They got people and supplies
to places faster than in previous times. The telegraph improved communication. Before the
telegraph, communication over long distances could only happen in person. Without the railroads,
the telegraph would not work because the wires of the telegraph ran along the railroad tracks and
the telegraph offices were usually located in the railroad stations. (Brinkley,

How Does Poe Build Suspense In The Tell Tale Heart
The Tell Tale Heart Summary Imagine being haunted by one object your entire life. One object
that you can t get rid of unless you kill a nice old man. Well this is what the narrator in The Tell
Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe has to deal with. In this story the main character is haunted by the
blue eye of an old man. I bothers him so much, in fact, that he has decided to kill the old man so
that he can get rid of the eye forever. So he watches the man every night at midnight, waiting for
the perfect moment to kill him. But the eye is always closed. After about a week of watching the
old man the narrator accidentally scares him awake. The old man s heart starts to beat louder and

the narrator burying the body in pitch black darkness. This gives the reader a feel for the

every night, about midnight, I turned the latch of his door (Poe 90). The reader can picture the
narrator holding his lamp and turning the door to the old man s chamber. This adds suspense
because the reader can see how creepy it is for the narrator to be doing this. And they can also

The Mexican American Border And Its Effects On The United...
I am writing this letter to respectively bring your attention to the Mexican American border, its
damaging effect on the United States economy, and potential solutions to this specific situation
which has become known as the Border Crisis. As you may already know, the border runs from
Tijuana, Baja California to Tamaulipas and Texas. According to the International Boundary and
Water Commission, the border s length is 1,954 miles and is the most frequently crossed
international border, mainly by undocumented immigrants from Mexicoand Central America. As an
attempt to contain this influx of illegal migration, former President George W. Bush signed the
Secure Fence Act of 2006 stating, This bill will help protect American people. This bill will make
our borders more secure. It is an important step toward immigration reform. While Mr. Bush may
have had the United Statessafety at heart, one must question if the border fence is actually helping
the economy or hurting it? There are several problems that have risen following the creation of the
border fence; immigrants coming from The Northern Triangle have actually increased, Texas has
become the deadliest entry state, undocumented and unaccompanied children are costing taxpayers
even more, and simply maintaining the border fence is a very high cost. To start with, when people
hear the word immigration , many automatically refer to Mexican immigrants. However, few tend
to realize that the majority of immigrants are coming

The Cause Of Nathaniel Bacon s Rebellion
Nathaniel Bacon and his men, comprised of indentured servants, black slaves, and frontiersmen, ran
through the streets of Jamestown, plundering the plantation homes of gentry and eventually
burning Jamestown to the ground. This group was a testament to the rebellious potential of the
plantation labor force, namely indentured servants. Plantation owners had grown wary of
indentured servants and due to the hard labor, few free workers were willing to work on
plantations, leaving no viable labor source for the gentry to generate wealth. Over time, as slaves
from Africa gradually replaced indentured servants, the upper class instituted discriminatory laws
prevent slaves from uprising. Thus, the upper class did not intentionally propagate prejudice... Show

Earlier in the century, the legal difference between a slave and a servant was unclear. But now
the law began to make sharp distinctions between the two largely on the basis of race... This
quote clearly shows a shift in the legal definition of a slave to specifically the black race, making
the black race synonymous with slavery and inferiority. Although unintentional on part of the
upper class, these laws enculturated racism into colonial life, creating a class rift between
whites and blacks. However, the incorporation of prejudice and racism developed only after the
slave trade was established. Racism was not a prevalent social norm before American slavery. It
was the potential combination of poor whites and blacks that caused the most fear. If there had
been the natural racial repugnance...control would have been easier. This quote shows the low bar
of prejudice in the early colonial times, as white and blacks had rebelled together. Additionally, in
the Old World, slavery was not a new concept, but it had never been applied solely to the black
population. Servants and poor whites were always at the bottom rung of the social ladder in
England; they were not naturally better than the black population. However, in the colonies,
servants and poor whites were unquestionably in a higher class than the black population, a position

Moses Journey
In the Bible many characters overcame problems while playing a big role in history, one of them
was Moses. He was an important person who had many feats, but also suffered in the Bible.
While being the man who led the Israelites out of slavery, he was hurt and disliked by many people
for a purpose; to spread his religion.
Moses s suffering started the day he was born. His mother had to hide him for three months so
he would not be killed by the Egyptians, but because his mother did this, he ended up becoming
the man who, with god by his side, saves his people from slavery. Moses s life was full of ups and
downs, and while it seemed like everything would be fine, his struggles had just began.
Moses grew up in royalty, but was disliked by the Pharaoh, the egyptians, and even his own
people. While he tried to be nice, his people were bitter and had once even said Who made you a
price and a judge over us? (110) His people may have hated him, but they had no idea his
intentions. So the hatred from the Israelites pushed him to leave Egypt and meet God. ... Show more

who took all the glory, but also suffered the blame. So that when God told him to confront the
Pharaoh, he was the one who was in trouble, not his people who did not have the courage to do
so. Though while he was trying to save them, his people did not realize he was not the cause of
their death, but their hero. So when the Egyptians charged towards them he stayed calm, and knew
that he had god by his side and that no matter what doubts anyone had, he they would be okay. So

Martha Graham, Beethoven, And Jackie Robinson
About 108 billion people have been introduced to our beautifully diverse world. Few of these

inspired others from a place of pure passion. Martha Graham, Beethoven, and Jackie Robinsonare

When a group of peers and I got there, we spent some time with the kids that showed up while the
kitchen was getting ready for the meal. We brought them coloring books, crayons, colored
pencils, puzzles, and checkers. I sat across from a little boy who kept almost falling asleep. His

matter how hard I tried to distract him with coloring or even a conversation, he could not stop
thinking about how hungry he was. It made me really sad to think that someone s hunger could be
so bad that they cannot do anything. Food is a necessity, and being deprived of it can make you
feel less human. I hate that in this rich, industrialized nation, there are severe problems. We need to
focus on ending hunger in America, and places like St. Pats will help do that. We need to support

School Cafeteria Food Essay
Have you ever tasted school cafeteria food? I don t think you would want to. In school story books,
do you have characters saying that the food tasted good at school cafeterias? Nope. Why is this?
Cafeteria food is often cheap, bought in bulk, high in calories, malnutritious, and microwaved.
Student polls and opinions prove this. Therefore, this leads to a suggestion: Healthier, tastier foods
and a better, advanced lunch system should be implemented. First of all, students aren t motivated
to eat unhealthy, not tasty food. If you observed students buying lunch in the cafeteria, you don t
often see them buying these kinds, but not limited to, foodstuffs: burritos (which are just beans
wrapped in tortillas), burgers (meat slapped on two... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A simple salad bar and healthier, tastier foods (such as soup, sandwiches, pasta, etc.) would be
the key to flourishing and happy or happier students. On the other hand, you may be thinking,
$3.75 $4.75 is cheap for a school lunch , Who would pay for it? , or If it s good enough for
school standards, then it MUST be healthy . $3.75 $4.75 is not cheap with the economy failing
and families having to stretch their dollars. About a year ago, the lunch was $2.50. If a student
bought a $4.75 lunch every day for a month, about thirty days, the total would be $142.50.
Multiply that by twelve months and it is $1,710 a YEAR. Compared to the $900 a year with the
$2.50 meal, lunch prices ARE pretty darn expensive. Secondly, if enhanced foods and lunch
system were implemented, some might say it would take a huge amount of money to actually
start the project. However, if tax dollars are enough to pay for billion dollar roads, then it s
enough to start a respectable lunch system. A portion of the tax dollars could be used instead of
it all going to highway and road construction. Finally, the food may fit school standards, but it
may not be such a good choice. Most people eat 2,000 to 2,500 calories a day, depending on their
needs. How healthy could a tortilla with beans, or a piece of meat slapped between two slices of
bread, be? Not to mention the amounts of saturated fat, trans fat, and salt! If you checked the

Letter From Birmingham Jail And Nonviolent Protests Essay
Letter from Birmingham jail and Nonviolent Protests
In Martin Luther King Jr s Letter from Birmingham jail , King talks about his imprisonment for his
involvement in a nonviolent protest and defends his rights and moral grounds for organizing
nonviolent protest activities. In this essay, I will look at his views on nonviolent protest and how
they differ from todays violent protests. To understand King s views on nonviolent protest, I will
start by summarizing some of the main points in his Letter from Birmingham jail . In spite of the
fact that the Letter is verifiably worried with justice all through, King likewise addresses the
question specifically at a few focuses. In actuality, he places that justice maintains the poise of the
human soul, while injustice conflicts with it. By talking about this idea by and large, he builds up
criteria by which to obscurely assault both segregation and silence it. He at last suggests that the
man who sees injustice and does nothing to stop it is acting unjustly also. Taking after this
thought, he contends that laws must be permeated with an ethical sense so as to be just; as such,
law and morality can not be viewed as independent interests or areas. The best way to really enact
change and help humankind rise above its confinements is to act with as well as grasp extremism .
According to Mott, That this action had been termed extreme King admits initially disappointed
him. But King decides that if loyalty to good principles

Red Gum Firewood Research Paper
charcoalmelbourne.com.au Flavourful Meat Smoking with Red Gum Firewood
Smoking was once the main way of preserving meat, but today, we now know that it is an ideal
way to cook and flavour meat. To obtain the desired flavour, though, you must understand which
type of firewood works best. While hickory wood is popular for this in some parts of the world, it
is extremely expensive here in Australia since we have to import it. One of the local favourites in
this country for flavourful meat smoking is red gum firewood.
Imparts a Strong Flavour
Similar to hickory, red gum imparts a strong flavour into meat. We are not saying that it
overwhelms the meat, though, it just gives a meat a pleasant smokiness that is your goal when you

The Theory Of Knowledge Essay
Theory of knowledge essay
To what extent do the concepts we use shape the conclusions that we reach?
Since my childhood I have always been told Education is the key to success! and there is
absolutely no other way to achieving beyond more than just survival in this fast paced but deeply
cruel and competitive world. That was a concept endlessly hammered into my head by society, it
however never appealed to me simply because of the fact that I found it a concept, something
which according to the Longman dictionary of Contemporary English is defined as an idea of how
something is, or how something should be done.
These, I found, are generated from a seed of contrasting emotions composed of either fear or
negligence within society. In addition, conclusions are known as something one may decide after
considering all the information one has. The purpose of this essay is to explore how concepts
impact conclusions reached by us, through finding ways to dissect and address the knowledge
question To what extent are concepts trustworthy if they change over time? Investigations into how
credible and where these seemingly vital rules and conventions readied to alter our views may
originate from will further be made. Natural sciences plus ethics and history will be Areas of

resourceful in a way that our men fighting in the War don t have to lay around on threadbare

persons acquired varicella at some point before adulthood (cdc.gov, 2006). It is reported that 4
million cases of chickenpox were recorded in the U.S. each year before the vaccine was
introduced. Although some states reported cases of varicella to the CDC, it was eliminated from
the list of nationally notifiable conditions in 1981. Children under 10 years of age make up
between 75 90 % of chickenpox cases. In 1995, due to the availability of the vaccine in the U.S.,
hospitalizations due to chickenpox has declined by nearly 90% (Hambleton, Gershon, 2005).

What would happen if we had full freedom? What would need to happen to have full freedom?
Freedom means we are free and able to do whatever we desire. We do have freedom as of now,

protect the well being of everyone and thing. These laws are not necessarily bad but it just doesn

We need to improve before we improve the world. Once we do that then we would be able to
properly work together for peace and freedom. To do this would mean that other countries
improved themselves too. When this finally happens and we think we are good enough to work
with each other we will try. As we try to work together we realize we can t.
Why? Why can t we work together when we all bettered ourselves. The reason is because we all
improved on ourselves but we did in different ways. We improved in our own beliefs and ideas.
Nothing would have changed we would have our freedom than has been bettered for us not for

Vibraphon s Influence On Jazz Music
1. I think the biggest element that made this song unique is the use of counterpoint. Counterpoint
is the use of two or more melodic lines of equal importance. During the course of the song, no one
melody sounds like the main melody, and are all of the same significance. I think this would have
upset many of the jazzpurists, as it was such a change from traditional jazz music.
2. A vibraphone is a instrument with resonator tubes suspended below aluminum bars to create a
natural reverberation of the sound. Lionel Hampton was one of the first jazz performers to play

THE ULTIMATE GARLIC SUPPLEMENT ALLICIN
The chemistry of garlic is extremely complex, but research has shown that it is the unusual organ
sulfur compounds relatively unique to garlic that promote its broad range of lipid lowering,
antithrombotic, anti blood coagulation, anti hypertension, anti cancer, anti oxidant and anti
microbial effect. The most well known and widely studied garlic compound is allicin , yet
ironically allicin does not exist in fresh, undamaged garlic cloves. The predominant garlic sulfur
compound is Alliin. Garlic also contains high levels of an enzyme called allinase. Cavallito and
Bailey first reported in 1944 that allicin is the garlic compound chiefly responsible for the broad
spectrum anti bacterial action of garlic. They noted that various actions of garlic, such as its
cholesterol lowering and anti bacterial effect are primarily due to its allicin content.
ALLIIN
Alliin is a sulfoxide that is a natural constituent of fresh garlic. It is a derivative of the amino
acid cysteins. When fresh garlic is chopped or crushed, the enzyme allinase converts alliin into
allicin which is primarily responsible for the aroma of fresh garlic. Garlic has been used since
antiquity as a therapeutic remedy for a certain conditions now associated w/ oxygen toxicity, and
when this was investigated, garlic did indeed show strong anti oxidant and hydroxyladical
scavenging properties, possibly owing to the alliin

The Cases Of The Holocaust, Nanjing Massacre, And Rwandan...
When someone deliberately commits any crime or act of hatred towards another group of people
in the hopes of revenge or elimination, it is known as a crime against humanity. These crimes result
in death, extinction, and years of pain and suffrage for people whom the act has been committed
against. The cases of the Holocaust, Nanjing Massacre, and Rwandan Genocideall fall under this
category. The question is, if an organization such as the UN would have stepped in during these
times of crisis, would these devastating crimes against humanity have been stopped or prevented?
Towards the late 1930s the animosity in Germany towards the Jewish people began to flourish and
the power of Hitler was beginning to rise. Jewish shops and businesses were boycotted and many
lost their right to own property, in turn forcing the Jewish populationto quit their jobs and resort to
Jewish camps set up by Hitler himself. It was in these camps that the Jewish race was slowly
being eradicated and put to work until they died. Hitler s racist and prejudiced views were
responsible for the mass genocide of over six million people, two thirds of the Jewish population.
At the same time many institutions such as the League of Nations were debating stopping Hitler

Panama Canal Thesis Statement
Thesis Statement
There is no doubt that the building of the Panama Canal was a major feat in history that has made
a huge impact on the way many countries trade with each other. It was a great struggle to complete
but it also was very rewarding.
The Land Area
The Isthmus of Panama is about 50 miles wide at its narrowest point. The land was thick with
jungle, deep swamp, and mountains. What the surveyors did not realize is that the geology behind
the land made it much harder to build the canal than in other places around the world. The
surrounding mountain range was formed differently than most mountain ranges, commonly formed
by folding due to lateral pressure. These mountains were formed by individual volcanic actions.

In 1876, French Navy Lieutenant Lucien N. B. Wyse, a grandson of Lucien Bonaparte, was sent
to explore locations and different possibilities for the canal. He returned home in April 1877 and
showed De Lesseps the construction plans. De Lesseps rejected all of the plans because they
required tunnels and locks to be built. De Lesseps prefered to build a sea level canal like the
Suez Canal. Wyse went back to the isthmus on December 6, 1877. He explored two routes in
Panama, one through Nicaragua and one through Panama. In the end he chose the Panamanian
route, which would be sea level. The route would follow the Panama Railroad and require a 7,720
meter long tunnel through the Continental Divide at Culebra. He traveled to Bogota and the
Colombian government signed a treaty on March 20th, 1878 that granted rights to build the canal
through Panama, then part of Colombia. The treaty promised Colombia ownership of the canal
after 99 years. It was estimated to take six years and $240 million. The digging started the first day
of 1880
By March 1883, construction was behind schedule and 660,000 out the promised 5,000,000 cubic
meters have been excavated. After visiting Panama in 1886, De Lesseps claims construction will
be done by July 1889. Later that year, only a few feet out of hundreds have been removed from the

Mountaineering Should Be Closed
Is it worth to risking your life to climbing high mountains or look like a champion? I have any
opinions of how I feel about if Everest should be kept closed or opened. Mountaineering is a type
of sport that involves climbing on mountains. I don t think that Mt. Everest should be opened and
I will be explaining and giving my opinion of why I think Everest should be closed and not to be
opened again.
First of all, I think that doing mountaineering is a dangerous type of sport because you can put
your life at risk if you don t have the right materials. When people go mountaineering on Mt.
Everest or when it takes place in winter time, things can fall from the sky and can kill people. In
source #2, it states in 2012, there was a wedge of ice that fell and went down to a slope in chunks
and the falling ice killed twenty five men and their bodies were never found. The people who do
mountaineering should have more advanced materials for their safety and not put their life at risk.
It s not just deaths, but serious injuries have occurred because of dangerous sports like this. ... Show

In source #2, in Australia, tourists were not allowed to climb the mountains because it was
forbidden so people were safe. People that are responsible for mountaineering think that it s not a
big deal if someone dies, but I think it is a big deal. Multiple deaths shouldn t happen because it s
materials that need to step in and try helping people who are climbing high mountains to prevent
these type of situations. The government should be more concerned with sports that involve deaths
and be more

capital may be re registered as a public company . In doing so, the Company must pass a special or
written resolution to approve the re registration and to alter the company s name in conformity to
the requirement of s 58(1) CA 2006, which requires the name to end with public limited company

The Challenges Of Homer s Journey In The October Sky
The film October Sky is a motion picture consisting of Homer Hickam s journey. His journey is
composed of various setbacks and advancements. A perfect analogy of his journey can be put
into this simple saying: two steps forward one step back. This analogy collaborates perfectly with
Homer s journey due to all of the challenges he faced throughout his journey. Homer s journey to
success contains various challenges and advancements which all playan important role in the
outcome. Homer s journey was not particularly a very straightforward one. In fact, his journey was
jam packed with challenges he had to face and overcome. One of the main challenges that Homer
faced was the difficulties with his dad, John Hickam. John wants Homer to grow up... Show more

I believe that everyone, no matter how big or small, also has challenges and obstacles which test
them. Although the difficulty and frequency of these setbacks are not set in stone, everyone has
to face these challenges to move on in life. Personally, one of the greatest challenges for me is to
become what I want to be. In order to reach my goal I must finish university at a high standard,
then move onto medical school to finish my education. Although, my challenges do not align
with Homer s, one bridge that can connect us, is the fact that our fathers are extremely
demanding. Now, John Hickam wants Homer to work in the coal mine instead of Homer s
optimistic view of pursuing rocketry. This contradicts my father s belief, which is of me being
optimistic and becoming something which involves tons of hard work. This places a great deal
of pressure on me in my studies. My method of achieving this will be, of course, working hard
and such. However, it also plays a big part in me actually becoming what I want to be and not just
what other people want. With me being on the same page as my father, I know what I am going to
do in my life and will continue to pursue it until I reach my

A University Of Southern Iowa College Student
Annalea Milligan, Bassoon Recital
As a University of Northern Iowa College student taking Soundscapes, I attended a recital by
Annalea Milligan on Wednesday Oct. 19th, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. in Davis Hall, a small auditorium, at
the Gallagher Bluedorn. Annalea Milligan received her Bachelor of Music degree in performance
at Pacific Conservatory of Music, and is currently a first year graduate student pursuing a Master
of Music degree in bassoon performance at University of Northern Iowa. For the first half of the
program she played the bassoon in Rhapsody composed by Willson Osborne and then she was
accompanied by Mariya Akhadjanova on piano playing Variations on Theme of Pergolesi
composed by Otmar Nussio which included I. Arietta, II. Scherzetto, III. Tamburino, IV.
Lamento, V. Ostinato, VI. Rapsodia, VII. Elegia, VIII. Barbaresca, IX. Stornello, and X. Danza.
Then after a brief intermission Milligan played the bassoon and was accompanied by Serena
Hou with the harpsichord playing Concerto in G Minor, RV 495 composed by Antonio Vivaldi
which included Presto, Largo, and Allegro, not to mention she also played Bachianas Brasileiras
No. 6 composed by Heitor Villa Lobos and was accompanied by Azeem Ward with the flute which
included I. Aria (Choro), and II. Fantasia. I will depict the first and second part of the recital and
describe my reaction and total opinion about the overall concert.

Homeless And Non Homeless Lesbian, Gay, And Bisexual
The study examined two groups, homeless and non homeless Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual (LGB)
youths (Rosario, Schrimshaw, Hunter, 2012). There were a total of 156 participants between the
ages of 14 and 21 years with a mean age of 18.3 years. Participants were recruited from community
based organizations, which focused on youths and two college organizations of LGB students.
Researchers wanted to explore potential risk factors associated with the reason some LGB youths
become homeless, while others do not. The risk factors included experiencing sexual abuse,
negative responses from others based on one s sexual orientation, unbearable stress for the parent
or youth, and substance abuse. All of which are reasons one may run away from home and
become homeless. Lastly, researcher s hypothesized non homeless youth are less likely than
homeless youths to be involved in sexual abuse and early sexual identity development as it pertains
to LGB (Rosario et al., 2012).
The results revealed 75 of the 156 youths reported being homeless at some point, 57 had a history
of running away, 38 were evicted from their parent s home; 20 youths experienced both running
away and eviction (Rosario et al., 2012). From the 57 youths with a history of running away, 23
reported running away once and 14 more than one time. In relation to sexual orientation 13 youths
who ran away, and 12 youths who were evicted reported identifying as LGB as the reason for
becoming homeless. Researchers then combined the

The Effects Of Food Irradiation Practices On The United...
Overview of the history of food irradiation practices in the United States from World War II era to
the end of the 20th century, and speculation about its future commercial prospects. Researchers in
the United States and Great Britain filed patents in 1905 for using ionizing radiation to kill food
borne bacteria (Spiller, J. (2004)). Therefore, food irradiationhas over 100 years of history.
Food irradiation (the application of ionizing radiation to food) is a technology that improves the
safety and extends the shelf life of foods by reducing or eliminating microorganisms and insects (
U.S. Food and Drug Administration 1). If food is not irradiated correctly, there may potentially be
health hazards.
The process where food is exposed from nuclear sources consists of food irradiation, which is
limited to high energy gamma rays, X rays and accelerated electrons. Ionizing is source of
radiation because of the high energy free electrons from atoms and molecules. The electrically
charged particles are converted to ions. Microwaves are example of gamma rays. Accelerated
electrons can transfuse to treat the food only to a depth of three centimeters. Due to thickness of x
rays may pass through the food.
Radiation dose is the quantity of radiation energy bored by the food as it passes through the
radiation field during processing. Needless to say the radiation for
poultry and meat were approximately 800 1400 times that dose, of fruits and vegetables. A
radiation dose of about

Apollo 13 Movie Physics Essay
Apollo 13 Essay Have you ever wondered what it would be like to fly in space or work on the
crew at NASA that helps the astronauts get home safely? These two jobs both use many of the
laws of physics. In fact, almost everything they do involves physics. Apollo 13 is a movie that
epitomizes what those jobs are like and how much physics is required. The three main laws of
physics in the movie were Newton s Law of Universal Gravitation, Newton s First Law, and
Newton s Third Law. One main law in Apollo 13 was Newton s Law of Universal Gravitation,
defined as F=Gm1m2r2, where G=6.67Г—10 11. The first main scene in which this law was
needed was when NASA decided that it would be best for the crew to take a free return trajectory

Another prevalent physics law in Apollo 13 was Newton s First Law, which states that a body will
persist in its state of rest or of uniform motion unless it is acted upon by an external unbalanced
force. In most scenes of Apollo 13 that show the spacecraft in space this law was visually
demonstrated. The Apollo 13 spacecraft was always in uniform motion unless it was acted on
by another external unbalanced force. The most significant force in space that would act on the
spacecraft was that of gravity. Gravity from other large masses, such as the Earth, Moon, and
Sun, acted as the external unbalanced force which changed the spacecraft s speed and direction.
If all the gravity in space were to suddenly disappear and the net force on the spacecraft were to
be zero then the Apollo 13 ship would simply adhere to its uniform motion tangent to its original
path. Another group of scenes in which Newton s First was displayed was when the astronauts
moved around in their spacecraft while in space. It is quite easy to tell from watching how the
astronauts moved around in 0g that they were exhibiting Newton s First Law. If an astronaut in the
movie applied a force in one direction to move in the other that astronaut would then move at a
constant velocity (in relation to the ship) as soon as that force was removed. On the contrary, if no
force were applied,

  • 2. The Sex Of Sex Work The world of sex work has been around for countless years. Hollywood portrays it as a normal way of life in all the cowboy movies and put a glamorous feel around it. However, Hollywood is about selling dreams and fantasy, though the reality is quite different. The reality is that sex work is dangerous. The act in and of itself is not usually dangerous, nevertheless, the situations in which it needs to be conducted are. Today s sex work incorporates more than just prostitution; the adult film industry, Dom/Sub work, phone sex operators, together with exotic dancing are all considered sex work. The focus of this essay has been narrowed down to just the prostitution aspect of sex work and the decriminalization for the means of creating a safer environment for the worker. Decriminalization of this particular type of sex work would render the job safer for the workers given that they would have the ability to screen clients, an established place of employment, safety in numbers, a positive relationship with law enforcement, and enhanced means to protect themselves from health risks. Screening of the clients is a key aspect of keeping the sex workers safe. Screening the clients is a lot about reading people, their clothes, their attitude, how they hold themselves and trusting the experience of the worker s instinct. The screening process will not work every single time, however, the ability to make the decision to go with a client or not can save the workers life. Escorts and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Identify The Different Types Of Diversity The society in which we live in today is filled with a diverse group of people. Generally, when people think about diversity, demographics are primarily considered. This is because diversity is associated with our various ethnic groups. The United States is home to over 300 million people and each one of them is different; therefore, the U.S. is known as the melting pot . Along with the many types of races, there are a variety of age groups, religious beliefs, and personal backgrounds. Although we typically think about physical appearance and social status, we never really consider someone s personality being associated with diversity. Each person has a different personality from everyone else and that is due to two factors nature and nurture.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next, they live a routine and repetitive lifestyle because they favor order and dislike the unpredictable. The limited variety in their life is due to how close they observe details in everything. They are not easily bored and they excel at tasks that require repetition and concentration. This skill is essential for persistence and patience. Lastly, they are excellent managers and administrators. This is a result because they adhere to the rules, guidelines, and norms. • 4. Dispersion of Different Silane Modified TiO2 Rutile... Figure 3 shows dispersion of untreated, APS, FHES and TMSO treated TRNPs in different solvents after centrifuging at 1000 rpm for 15 minutes. After centrifuging, if most of the particle settles down it is an indicator of poor dispersion of the particle in the solvent. When the relatively large particles settles down and small particles remains in the suspension it is an indicator of medium dispersion. If all the particles remains in the solventand no precipitation is found it is an indicator of very good dispersion. From Figure 3 it is found that, untreated TiO2 is best dispersed in DMF and DMAc polar aprotic solvent which is also supported from small Z average diameter and acceptable PDI value. For untreated NP medium dispersion is found in DI water and ethanol and poor dispersion in TCB, Toluene, DCM, choloroform, THF and isopropanol. As the untreated TRNP is hydrophilic in nature the particles tends to disperse well in relatively polar solvent. APS treated titania nanoparticle renders hydrophobic behavior to the surface [20] and essentially doesn t dissolve in DI water, DMF and DMAC etc. highly polar solvent. The best solvent for APS modified titania is ethanol, isopropanol and formic acidwhich is conspicuous both from digital image and small mean diameter value of the nanoparticle. Due to the presence of NH2 functional group at the end of organic surface of APS treated TRNPs the hydrogen bonding force is the dominant dispersion force. As a result, APS treated NPs ... • 5. Essay On The Cost Of College Education The cost of college tuition is often seen as the drawback that causes high school graduates to choose not to enroll into higher education. This is highly unfortunate because college education is worth the cost. The cost may be unappealing, but there is assistance for the tuition fees, for example, financial aid and student loans. It is worth the cost for high school graduates to go to collegefor the reasons that it will allow for these young adults to gain an abiding profession that can support them for the rest of their working lives after college, it will also provide them with greater salaries than one would have with just a high school diploma, and ultimately it creates happy, knowledgeable, and healthy people. What people often do not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, stopping at a high school diploma is not beneficial to anyone under this age. There is on average seven years more of learning to do which is why college is provided as a higher education to grow more knowledge. Ben Weider, wrote about how Peter Thiel, co founder of Pay Pal, would pay 24 winners of his Thiel Fellowship $100,000 not to attend college for two years and to develop business ideas instead. However, the outcome was that he realized that this route would only be beneficial to a small fraction of students, because their level of education was not as high as if they were straight out of college (Source E). This entails that with a vaster education a person would be more knowledgeable for certain criteria. In Source F, the survey shows that almost a half of the surveyers believe the main purpose of college education was to teach work related skills and knowledge, and 39 percent said it was to help a student grow intellectually. Now 74 percent said their college education was very useful in helping them grow intellectually, and 69 percent said it helped them grow and mature as a person. This goes to show that college can really help a person grow more knowledge, so that by the time their frontal lobe is done growing they would have still been learning rather than lacking ... • 6. An Explication of W.H. Auden quot;Musee Des Beaux Arts quot; In poetry, the use of allusions is very common. There are briefs, usually indirect references to another work or to real or historical events or persons, traditionally as a way of connecting those elements as well as enriching the meaning of the current work through associations with the other. In his poem Musee des Beaux Arts, W.H. Auden uses allusions as a way of drawing connections between his poem, Peter Brueghel s painting The Fall of Icarus, the myth, and the humanity indifference toward one s suffering. Icarus, the subject of this poem, was a figure from Greek mythology. He was the son of Dedalus, who, in order to escape from prison in Crete, made two pairs of wings, one for him and one for his son, Icarus. As Icarus and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the painting, the young Icarus falls out of the sky and is swept away in death s cold embrace while the ploughman continued plowing. The ploughman did not care about the splashing sound Icarus made, when he felt into the water. Auden s allusion to the fallen Icarus in Breughel s painting is seen as a significant event as to make the point of the poem stronger: apathy of human suffering. Like many other sonnets, Musee des Beaux Arts is divided into two parts. In general, the first lines of the poem explore the depth of humanities indifference to one another. Auden makes allusion to the old master painters of the museum of fine art, who were never wrong about suffering. The old masters understood that people often turned a blind eye to one another s suffering. The Old Masters were artists of the 18th century whose works, masterpieces of the Renaissance, also are called old masters. They often painted classical scenes of pagan Greece and Rome as well as scenes of life and death, like the Fall of Icarus. About suffering they were never wrong, The old Masters: how well they understood Its human position; how it takes place While someone is eating or opening a window... How, when the aged are reverently, passionately waiting For the miraculous birth, there always must be Children who did not specially want it to happen... The poem reveals that suffering is part of everyday life, so much that those

Some political changes that took place include: the expanding of democracy, voting privileges, eligibility to hold office requirements, a new constitution, method of choosing presidential electors, the rapid growth of the electorate, political parties, nullification, the removal of governmental deposits, etc. An economic change that shaped US government was mainly the industrial revolution. New developments in public health played an important role in the population growth. (Brinkley, 222) Railroads were a very efficient way of transportation. They got people and supplies to places faster than in previous times. The telegraph improved communication. Before the telegraph, communication over long distances could only happen in person. • 11. The Mexican American Border And Its Effects On The United... I am writing this letter to respectively bring your attention to the Mexican American border, its damaging effect on the United States economy, and potential solutions to this specific situation which has become known as the Border Crisis. As you may already know, the border runs from Tijuana, Baja California to Tamaulipas and Texas. According to the International Boundary and Water Commission, the border s length is 1,954 miles and is the most frequently crossed international border, mainly by undocumented immigrants from Mexicoand Central America. As an attempt to contain this influx of illegal migration, former President George W. Bush signed the Secure Fence Act of 2006 stating, This bill will help protect American people. This bill will make our borders more secure. It is an important step toward immigration reform. While Mr. Bush may have had the United Statessafety at heart, one must question if the border fence is actually helping the economy or hurting it? There are several problems that have risen following the creation of the border fence; immigrants coming from The Northern Triangle have actually increased, Texas has become the deadliest entry state, undocumented and unaccompanied children are costing taxpayers even more, and simply maintaining the border fence is a very high cost. To start with, when people hear the word immigration , many automatically refer to Mexican immigrants. However, few tend to realize that the majority of immigrants are coming ... The Cause Of Nathaniel Bacon s Rebellion Nathaniel Bacon and his men, comprised of indentured servants, black slaves, and frontiersmen, ran through the streets of Jamestown, plundering the plantation homes of gentry and eventually burning Jamestown to the ground. This group was a testament to the rebellious potential of the plantation labor force, namely indentured servants. Plantation owners had grown wary of indentured servants and due to the hard labor, few free workers were willing to work on plantations, leaving no viable labor source for the gentry to generate wealth. Over time, as slaves from Africa gradually replaced indentured servants, the upper class instituted discriminatory laws prevent slaves from uprising. But now the law began to make sharp distinctions between the two largely on the basis of race... This quote clearly shows a shift in the legal definition of a slave to specifically the black race, making the black race synonymous with slavery and inferiority. Although unintentional on part of the upper class, these laws enculturated racism into colonial life, creating a class rift between whites and blacks. However, the incorporation of prejudice and racism developed only after the slave trade was established. Racism was not a prevalent social norm before American slavery. It was the potential combination of poor whites and blacks that caused the most fear. If there had been the natural racial repugnance...control would have been easier. This quote shows the low bar of prejudice in the early colonial times, as white and blacks had rebelled together. Additionally, in the Old World, slavery was not a new concept, but it had never been applied solely to the black population. Servants and poor whites were always at the bottom rung of the social ladder in England; they were not naturally better than the black population. He was an important person who had many feats, but also suffered in the Bible. While being the man who led the Israelites out of slavery, he was hurt and disliked by many people for a purpose; to spread his religion. Moses s suffering started the day he was born. His mother had to hide him for three months so he would not be killed by the Egyptians, but because his mother did this, he ended up becoming the man who, with god by his side, saves his people from slavery. Moses s life was full of ups and downs, and while it seemed like everything would be fine, his struggles had just began. Moses grew up in royalty, but was disliked by the Pharaoh, the egyptians, and even his own people. While he tried to be nice, his people were bitter and had once even said Who made you a price and a judge over us? (110) His people may have hated him, but they had no idea his intentions. In school story books, do you have characters saying that the food tasted good at school cafeterias? Nope. Why is this? Cafeteria food is often cheap, bought in bulk, high in calories, malnutritious, and microwaved. Student polls and opinions prove this. Therefore, this leads to a suggestion: Healthier, tastier foods and a better, advanced lunch system should be implemented. First of all, students aren t motivated to eat unhealthy, not tasty food. If you observed students buying lunch in the cafeteria, you don t often see them buying these kinds, but not limited to, foodstuffs: burritos (which are just beans wrapped in tortillas), burgers (meat slapped on two... On the other hand, you may be thinking, $3.75 $4.75 is cheap for a school lunch , Who would pay for it? , or If it s good enough for school standards, then it MUST be healthy . $3.75 $4.75 is not cheap with the economy failing and families having to stretch their dollars. About a year ago, the lunch was $2.50. If a student bought a $4.75 lunch every day for a month, about thirty days, the total would be $142.50. Multiply that by twelve months and it is $1,710 a YEAR. Compared to the $900 a year with the $2.50 meal, lunch prices ARE pretty darn expensive. Secondly, if enhanced foods and lunch system were implemented, some might say it would take a huge amount of money to actually start the project. However, if tax dollars are enough to pay for billion dollar roads, then it s enough to start a respectable lunch system. A portion of the tax dollars could be used instead of it all going to highway and road construction. Finally, the food may fit school standards, but it may not be such a good choice. Most people eat 2,000 to 2,500 calories a day, depending on their needs. How healthy could a tortilla with beans, or a piece of meat slapped between two slices of bread, be? Letter From Birmingham Jail And Nonviolent Protests Essay Letter from Birmingham jail and Nonviolent Protests In Martin Luther King Jr s Letter from Birmingham jail , King talks about his imprisonment for his involvement in a nonviolent protest and defends his rights and moral grounds for organizing nonviolent protest activities. In this essay, I will look at his views on nonviolent protest and how they differ from todays violent protests. To understand King s views on nonviolent protest, I will start by summarizing some of the main points in his Letter from Birmingham jail . In spite of the fact that the Letter is verifiably worried with justice all through, King likewise addresses the question specifically at a few focuses. In actuality, he places that justice maintains the poise of the human soul, while injustice conflicts with it. By talking about this idea by and large, he builds up criteria by which to obscurely assault both segregation and silence it. He at last suggests that the man who sees injustice and does nothing to stop it is acting unjustly also. Taking after this thought, he contends that laws must be permeated with an ethical sense so as to be just; as such, law and morality can not be viewed as independent interests or areas. The best way to really enact change and help humankind rise above its confinements is to act with as well as grasp extremism . According to Mott, That this action had been termed extreme King admits initially disappointed him. But King decides that if loyalty to good principles ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

[add something about the state of the country and how it fueled/surged nationalist resistance] As Marjane s father tells her, it was Reza Khan who, with the assistance of the British, overthrew the corrupt Qajar dynasty and was appointed shah (king). Propelled by the gust of nationalism that had emerged in response to foreign takeover and domestic tumult, Reza worked to curtail outside influence, reform and modernize the country. Nevertheless, he ruled with an iron fist that ultimately led to his downfall, coming to be severely detested by the populace, succumbing to fascist sympathies during WII, and being forced to abdicate in 1941. Though his son Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (Shah) inherited the throne, Reza s real successor was Mohammad Mossadegh, a statesman of tremendous passion who would come to represent Third World nationalism and go down as one of the most popular figures in Iranian history. Two central beliefs shaped Mossadegh s political consciousness. The first was a passionate faith in the rule of law, which made him an enemy of autocracy and, in particular, Reza Shah. The second was a conviction that Iranians must rule themselves and not submit to the will of foreigners. (Kinzer 53) It was in 1949 that Mossadegh, a vocal member of the majlis, formed and became leader of the National Front, an umbrella organization dedicated to fortifying democracy and limiting foreign influence. In a span of two years, the National Front became the governing coalition and Mossadegh was elected prime minister by an overwhelming majority vote. Through the use of Textbooks , this CACPRE standard (2009) helped me to comprehend the process of all items that are basic to the unfolding of group from the beginning to end. For example, group norms, generating trust, how conflict emerges in a group, patterns of resistance, and shared goals that characterize a particular social group. Furthermore, I understand that group dynamics can provide an empirical validation for pre screening, the forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning phases (Corey, Corey, and Corey, 2014). • 41. Panama Canal Thesis Statement Thesis Statement There is no doubt that the building of the Panama Canal was a major feat in history that has made a huge impact on the way many countries trade with each other. It was a great struggle to complete but it also was very rewarding. The Land Area The Isthmus of Panama is about 50 miles wide at its narrowest point. The land was thick with jungle, deep swamp, and mountains. What the surveyors did not realize is that the geology behind the land made it much harder to build the canal than in other places around the world. The surrounding mountain range was formed differently than most mountain ranges, commonly formed by folding due to lateral pressure. These mountains were formed by individual volcanic actions. Formations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1876, French Navy Lieutenant Lucien N. B. Wyse, a grandson of Lucien Bonaparte, was sent to explore locations and different possibilities for the canal. He returned home in April 1877 and showed De Lesseps the construction plans. De Lesseps rejected all of the plans because they required tunnels and locks to be built. De Lesseps prefered to build a sea level canal like the Suez Canal. Wyse went back to the isthmus on December 6, 1877. He explored two routes in Panama, one through Nicaragua and one through Panama. In the end he chose the Panamanian route, which would be sea level. The route would follow the Panama Railroad and require a 7,720 meter long tunnel through the Continental Divide at Culebra. He traveled to Bogota and the Colombian government signed a treaty on March 20th, 1878 that granted rights to build the canal through Panama, then part of Colombia. The treaty promised Colombia ownership of the canal after 99 years. It was estimated to take six years and $240 million. The digging started the first day of 1880 By March 1883, construction was behind schedule and 660,000 out the promised 5,000,000 cubic meters have been excavated. After visiting Panama in 1886, De Lesseps claims construction will be done by July 1889. Later that year, only a few feet out of hundreds have been removed from the Culebra Cut. De Lesseps hired ... • 42. Mountaineering Should Be Closed Is it worth to risking your life to climbing high mountains or look like a champion? I have any opinions of how I feel about if Everest should be kept closed or opened. Mountaineering is a type of sport that involves climbing on mountains. I don t think that Mt. Everest should be opened and I will be explaining and giving my opinion of why I think Everest should be closed and not to be opened again. First of all, I think that doing mountaineering is a dangerous type of sport because you can put your life at risk if you don t have the right materials. When people go mountaineering on Mt. Everest or when it takes place in winter time, things can fall from the sky and can kill people. In source #2, it states in 2012, there was a wedge of ice that fell and went down to a slope in chunks and the falling ice killed twenty five men and their bodies were never found. The people who do mountaineering should have more advanced materials for their safety and not put their life at risk. • 46. Homeless And Non Homeless Lesbian, Gay, And Bisexual The study examined two groups, homeless and non homeless Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual (LGB) youths (Rosario, Schrimshaw, Hunter, 2012). There were a total of 156 participants between the ages of 14 and 21 years with a mean age of 18.3 years. Participants were recruited from community based organizations, which focused on youths and two college organizations of LGB students. Researchers wanted to explore potential risk factors associated with the reason some LGB youths become homeless, while others do not. The risk factors included experiencing sexual abuse, negative responses from others based on one s sexual orientation, unbearable stress for the parent or youth, and substance abuse. All of which are reasons one may run away from home and become homeless. Lastly, researcher s hypothesized non homeless youth are less likely than homeless youths to be involved in sexual abuse and early sexual identity development as it pertains to LGB (Rosario et al., 2012). The results revealed 75 of the 156 youths reported being homeless at some point, 57 had a history of running away, 38 were evicted from their parent s home; 20 youths experienced both running away and eviction (Rosario et al., 2012). From the 57 youths with a history of running away, 23 reported running away once and 14 more than one time. In relation to sexual orientation 13 youths who ran away, and 12 youths who were evicted reported identifying as LGB as the reason for becoming homeless. Researchers then combined the ... • 47. The Effects Of Food Irradiation Practices On The United... Overview of the history of food irradiation practices in the United States from World War II era to the end of the 20th century, and speculation about its future commercial prospects. Researchers in the United States and Great Britain filed patents in 1905 for using ionizing radiation to kill food borne bacteria (Spiller, J. (2004)). Therefore, food irradiationhas over 100 years of history. Food irradiation (the application of ionizing radiation to food) is a technology that improves the safety and extends the shelf life of foods by reducing or eliminating microorganisms and insects ( U.S. Food and Drug Administration 1). If food is not irradiated correctly, there may potentially be health hazards. The process where food is exposed from nuclear sources consists of food irradiation, which is limited to high energy gamma rays, X rays and accelerated electrons. Ionizing is source of radiation because of the high energy free electrons from atoms and molecules. The electrically charged particles are converted to ions. Microwaves are example of gamma rays. Accelerated electrons can transfuse to treat the food only to a depth of three centimeters. Due to thickness of x rays may pass through the food. Radiation dose is the quantity of radiation energy bored by the food as it passes through the radiation field during processing. Needless to say the radiation for poultry and meat were approximately 800 1400 times that dose, of fruits and vegetables. A radiation dose of about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Apollo 13 Movie Physics Essay Apollo 13 Essay Have you ever wondered what it would be like to fly in space or work on the crew at NASA that helps the astronauts get home safely? These two jobs both use many of the laws of physics. In fact, almost everything they do involves physics. Apollo 13 is a movie that epitomizes what those jobs are like and how much physics is required. The three main laws of physics in the movie were Newton s Law of Universal Gravitation, Newton s First Law, and Newton s Third Law. One main law in Apollo 13 was Newton s Law of Universal Gravitation, defined as F=Gm1m2r2, where G=6.67Г—10 11. The first main scene in which this law was needed was when NASA decided that it would be best for the crew to take a free return trajectory back to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another prevalent physics law in Apollo 13 was Newton s First Law, which states that a body will persist in its state of rest or of uniform motion unless it is acted upon by an external unbalanced force. In most scenes of Apollo 13 that show the spacecraft in space this law was visually demonstrated. The Apollo 13 spacecraft was always in uniform motion unless it was acted on by another external unbalanced force. The most significant force in space that would act on the spacecraft was that of gravity. Gravity from other large masses, such as the Earth, Moon, and Sun, acted as the external unbalanced force which changed the spacecraft s speed and direction. If all the gravity in space were to suddenly disappear and the net force on the spacecraft were to be zero then the Apollo 13 ship would simply adhere to its uniform motion tangent to its original path. Another group of scenes in which Newton s First was displayed was when the astronauts moved around in their spacecraft while in space. It is quite easy to tell from watching how the astronauts moved around in 0g that they were exhibiting Newton s First Law. If an astronaut in the movie applied a force in one direction to move in the other that astronaut would then move at a constant velocity (in relation to the ship) as soon as that force was removed. On the contrary, if no force were applied, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
