Compare And Contrast The Separation Of America By Thomas...
In the following pages I offer nothing more than simple facts, plain arguments, and common sense...
(Paine, 455), the opening line of a book which changed a nation. The renowned American author
Thomas Paine writes this straightforward sentence with one task in mind, persuade the American
people to declare independence from Britain. Discussing the controversy between the separation of
England and the newly formed America s, the author conveys that America must not only isolate
herself from England, but America must also reject a monarchical government. Emphasizing that Now
is the seed time of Continental union, faith and honor, (Paine, 456), Paine stresses the urgency of the
topic, that what is written must come to pass in the near ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Paine combats all of these notions with well thought out, educated details that sway those
arguments. For example, the idea of England increasing the profitability of America s trade is
addressed by Paine saying, Our plan is commerce and that, well attended to, will secure us the peace
and friendship of all Europe; because it is the interest of all Europe to have America a free port. Her
trade will always be a protection and her barrenness of gold and silver secure her from invaders.
(Paine, 458). Paine s use of the lack of the readers common knowledge allows for a compelling
argument which would enlighten audiences.
The second way Paine structures his argument for independence from Britain is through an extended
metaphor, comparing England and America to a mother and child. Through this metaphor, Paine
illustrates the toxicity of the relationship to the reader in plain language. Abandoning technical terms
and the phrases often used by higher class, educated individuals Paine keeps the metaphor plain and
simple so that everyone can comprehend the message. Paine begins the metaphor by highlighting the
destructive maternal relationship shared by the countries. But Britain is the parent country, say some.
The the more shame upon her conduct. Even brutes do not devour their young, nor savages make

A Critical Analysis of Liguistic Imperialism Essay
Introduction English has become one of the major languages of the world, and it can be an agent of
linguistic imperialism (Phillipson, 1992). This review will offer a critique of the of the 1992 book,
Linguistic Imperialism, published by New York: Oxford University Press. The author, Robert
Phillipson, is a research professor at Copenhagen Business School s Department of English. Through
the examination of this article, it can be confirmed that Phillipson has accurately described the
existing problems of the dying minority languages and the untenable idea of the combination of
globalization and English. However, I contest that English can promote social mobility in low income
countries in Africa and other countries. The questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is strongly suggested that with this global diffusion of English, the equality for speakers of all
languages is flawed.
However, in contrast to this, the article The Triumph of English, published in The Economist argues
that the language of globalization and of economics and politics is necessary for international
communications and further education on large variety of subjects. English will be spoken by over a
billion people within a decade, and that the English language has diffused everywhere and globally.
The English language is a vital skill to operate on the world stage, because many of the fruitful
sources needed for education are published in the global language of English, and people can
understand the economics and politics of the world. The ability to understand and communicate in
English is mandatory in various fields and professions, and is therefore possibly the lingua franca of
the modern day society.
Discussion
English is essential to the globalization processes for economic and political restructuring. There are
opposition of this idea that English can be equally diffused on a global scale. This spread of the
language is the imperialism of culture, where Americanization takes place, and American culture is
forced into various cultures through the power of the dominance of English as the lingua franca.

The Trade Policies Around The World
The trade policies around the world are different depending on which country a person lives in. There
are many different regulations because there are so many different foreign policies. If a person wants
to be successful in doing business globally, then they would have to abide by the country they are
interested in doing business with, standards of how to do business. It would be disrespectful to try to
do business with another country and not know any of their customs or beliefs, because what you are
bringing to the table could be offensive to them which could leave you empty handed if one does not
operate right under the business standards of the foreign company. Even though it behooves a business
person to abide by another country s foreign trade policy some of the other country s policies may be
offensive to the investor. The best thing to focus on when doing business with another country is to
come to an equal understanding on point of views, they may have to agree to disagree on some things
but, the most important thing to remember is to try to make money with other countries to extend your
business to new heights. When an investor set point of views to the side and focus on the matter at
hand, and that is to make money, then they will be more comfortable abiding by another county s way
of doing business. The trade policy I am going to write about is the trade policy in China. Present day
Chinese culture is a combination of the old world

Ethics And Ethical Issues In Medical Volunteering
Medical volunteerism is an activity where someone or a group of people does a task in the medical
field voluntarily without pay, particularly in an underdeveloped country that is lacking medical
professionals. This topic relates to a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathmatics) class this
semester because we had a discussion over the ethics of medical volunteerism. Ethical questions do
arise from this topic. There are countless discussion questions of who benefits from medical
volunteering, what procedures volunteers are allowed to do, and so on and so forth. One interesting
aspect is the idea of consent. Although medical volunteerism may be beneficial, there are ethical
issues regarding consent that are overlooked when volunteers ... Show more content on

written nor verbal, but it is an assumption that patients who come to the volunteering medical mission

The Flexor Tgitorum Equilibrium
The flexor digitorum which is on the anterior forearm arises from the medial epicondyle of the
humerus by the common tendon. The flexor digitorum lies between the superficial and deep groups. In
the anterior fingers, which inserts on the sides of the middle phalanges, splits at the level of the

INTRODUCTION
As the world economy is becoming more and more international, it has now become essential to know
how to interact with people coming from some other countries. Nowadays most of growing companies
are treating with partners abroad but some of them are facing communication problems. Cross cultural
communication consist in a field of study that looks at how people from different cultural background

Apparently a drain
Communicating with people from different cultures, having different norms and habits is difficulty
that everybody has to face. We all have been educated in different places and had different influences
that made of us the persons we are today. This different experiences we had gave us various references

Lamb To The Slaughter Suspense
How do writers create suspense in The Signalman and Lamb to the Slaughter ?
Gothic literature and its both sub genres, contemporary and traditional are looking for strange,
eccentric, the supernatural, the magical and the sublime. Sometimes subtly intermingled with the
realistic representation and stimulation of fear and horror within the context of a general focus on the
emotional rather than the rational it frequently has an exotic setting and locations which creates more
suspense for the reader and in large his imagery. We can see these functions more in the traditional
literature such as Charles Dickens The Signalman the writer used the darkness in the tunnel and the
ghost that appears every night to create suspense and gives the ... Show more content on

as each person has a different view for imagining the leg of lamb. The purpose of imagery is to help
the reader to understand the writer s message that is strong and visual as later the reader will relate the
image he made with how hard did Mary slaughter her husband. This makes the reader think of how
much pain caused as we can see later when the doctor came to see how her husband was killed they
suspected that it s something like a heavy metal as they found a small patch of congealed blood on
Patrick s head. The word sledgehammer shows in detail how hard Mary hit her husband which catches
the reader s breath and gives him an eerie and scary feeling as the reader didn t expect that all of this
could happen after the writer showed how much did Mary love her

Scientific Revolution Dbq
During the Early Modern Era, Western Europe expands. The Roman Catholic Church went through
many challenges before the Protestant Reformation, which was the beginning of the many ideas that
will emerge in Europe, such as the Renaissance ending thus letting science escalate. The Renaissance
inspired a load of curiosity in many fields, such as science. Claims and ideas that had been accepted
by the world for many of years previous to this point in history were now being challenged and
questioned by Scholars, especially since religious leaders challenged and questioned accepted ways of
thinking with God and salvation in the church during the Reformation. Collectedly, thus began
Scientific Revolution in the 1600 s. The Scientific Revolution was a major part of World History in
Europe. It made people question god, science and created new religions. This time period also shaped

The proposition that the sun is in the center of the world and immovable from its place is absurd,
philosophically false, and formally heretical; because it is expressly contrary to Holy Scriptures,
(Source 7). This proves my claim because someone is contextually proving that Copernicus theories

weak. As well as The proposition that the earth is not the center of the world, nor immovable, but that
it moves, and also with a diurnal action is also absurd, philosophically false, and, theologically
considered, at least erroneous in faith, (Source 7). Galileo does not support religion because he is more

In the past authorities have acted immediately after a widely publicized disaster showing that there has
been complacency in the disaster planning and preparedness. During the Hurricane Katrina, the U.S
government was blamed for poor crisis management and slow response, particularly the authority s
failure to provide adequate personnel during the rescue missions. After the Katrina disaster, the U.S
government learned a lot after the analysis of the whole event was conducted. First, the U.S
government agreed that it was not prepared for a disaster of that magnitude. The government also
learned that there were complacency and inefficiency in leadership that resulted in delays and logistic
problems. The U.S government failed to share information with the public during the evacuation
(Gutmann, 2011). Measures Put in Place
The U.S government has brought numerous changes in disaster management and preparedness since
the September 11 terrorist attack. The National Incident Management System (NIMS) is a very
comprehensive document used to offer guidelines on disaster management. This system was
developed following the February 28, 2003, presidential directive to Secretary of Homeland Security
to initiate a national system for incident management. NIMS provide a national wide approach for
governments at all levels, including the private sector and the NGOs to collaborate in the preparation,
prevention, and response to disasters, regardless of cause or complexity of the

relish in pursuing this career because, I would like to be one of those that possesses their power for

The Creation Of Israel By John F. Kennedy
Joey Dettore
Mrs. Whitney
Global Perspectives
3/15/16
The Creation of Israel Israel was not created in order to disappear Israel will endure and flourish. It is
the child of hope and the home of the brave. It can neither be broken by adversity nor demoralized by
success. It carries the shield of democracy and it honors the sword of freedom. These are John F.
Kennedy s thoughts and opinions upon the creation of Israel. In the time leading up to the creation of
Israel, the Jews had endured much suffering through the terrible acts of the Holocaust. Jews have
proven to rise from the despair and the suffering that they had to endure and they ultimately created
something stupendous: their own country. There have been many obstacles in the way for the Jews to
do this, the biggest being the Arab Palestinians. The Arab Palestinians objected to the Arab Jews
forming a nation and if it were not for the help of the United States, Israel would have never been able
to overrule the power of the Arab Palestinians and take over the land for themselves. With tremendous
support from the United States, the creation of Israel exemplifies the joyous and magnificent
accomplishment that not only Arab Jews accomplished, but all Jews. In the time leading up to the
creation of Israel, the Jews were motivated to establish their own country in the territory of Palestine
with the support of other countries around the world. There were many contributions that lead to the

Ethics Paper
What is marketing? Marketing, according to Investopedia, is The activities of a company associated
with buying and selling a product or service. It includes advertising, selling and delivering products to
people. In even simpler terms, it s how a company or business buys/sells a product, and the way in
which they do so. Marketing is aimed towards consumers, or us the buyers of these products, and the
best advertising will have us begging for the product they represent. Although there are marketing and
advertisements that are morally sound and ethical, we have to be weary of those that aren t.
As a well educated consumer, it is up to us to make sure we do adequate research to ensure these
advertisements we are being shown aren t pulling our tail. Companies who do risqué marketing
practices involving shady tactics, deceptive advertising, or biased targeted marketing towards age
groups who can easily be taken advantage of are all easily considered unethical and morally wrong.
Ethics, are the general principles of right and wrong. It is very important for businesses to have sound
ethic practices to ensure they avoid legal trouble and media backlash. Morals, on the other hand, are
what each individual find to be right and wrong, and their justifications and experiences that help them
decide between the two.
Moral idealism plays a big role into this as well because as a society we have formulated ideas that we
find morally right

The Norman Conquest By Marc Morris, The Narrative Of The...
The Norman Conquest by Marc Morris is a narrative of the Norman invasion of 1066. Since the
events happened so long ago, there are many incomplete accounts of the events. Even these
incomplete accounts are usually heavily biased. As such, it is a difficult undertaking for a historian to
construct a cohesive summary of the period. Nevertheless, Marc Morris attempted the task, and did an
admirable job. It is written as a narrative, but has enough detail to satisfy a student of history. Morris
begins by exploring the history of one of the few sources that remain of the Norman invasion, the
Bayeux tapestry. The tapestry has had a long history of trading hands and escaping harm seemingly
miraculously. According to Morris, the Bayeux tapestry has survived looting in the French Revolution,
was owned by Napoleon Bonaparte for a time, and was stolen by Nazis during their occupation of
France in World War II. Aside from its own fascinating history, the tapestry itself is not a flawless
source. Morris points out that it is in fact incomplete, as it abruptly stops at Harold Godwinson s
death. It was also in part copied from older accounts of the invasion and therefore is not a primary
source. It is also non committal in its portrayal of events and the captions are for the most part
willfully obscure or ambiguous (p. 4). In other words, it seems intended more to be a narrative than as
a factual historical record. Exact dates are often not given for important events, such as the

Savages of the Road Essay examples
The quote above by Benjamin Franklin illustrates that everyone has a different opinion when it comes
to manners. P. M. Forni defines manners in an interesting way in his article, What is Civility . In this
article, Forni states A manner is a way something is done, a mode of handling. Thus manners came to
refer to behavior in social interaction the way we handle the encounter between Self and Other (Forni
543). Most people get taught manners from a very young age but for some reason people do not apply
these manners to the road. When I received my license at the age of sixteen I was so excited to get on

Why not be verbally abusive on the road? Who will ever know? Strangers have no reputations, and
less guilt (Kinosian 550). Forni makes a good point. This woman did not know me personally and we
will probably never see each other again, so why not act a little crazy? There are many actions drivers
take that show a neglect for manners besides the one told in my story. Some drivers pull out in front of
you and act like they did nothing wrong. This drives me insane! It takes a lot to slow down and not hit
someone when they pull out in front of you. It is not your job to watch traffic off to the side; they
should be paying attention and be considerate enough to wait until it is clear and then pull out onto the
road. Drivers also forget their manners at night. I hate when I am driving along and then suddenly I
am blinded by high beams headed in the opposite direction. This tells me that the driver is not paying
attention to what they are doing behind the wheel which causes great concern. It also disables me from
being able to see the road in front of me which means their negligence could cause me to hurt myself.

Servant Leadership Essay
Servant Leadership is a leadership style that leads by example, does not take credit for deeds done,
and makes themselves as humble as possible to serve others. Servant leadership is focusing on serving
the highest needs of others to help another individual achieve their personal goals. Servant leadership
has to be developed by the person in the leadership role. The leader has got to be aware of themselves
as a person before they can be aware of someone else s needs. The leader has to be a moral and ethical

where I get to attached or want to help more than I have the means to. I sit and I dwell on how I could
not continue helping another person, even after I have reached the max capacity of what I could do for
them. I have the heart for developmentally disabled adults and children, animals of any kind even cats
who cause anaphylaxis reactions when I even stand near one, and children. All pull at my heart strings

The relationship which existed during the cold war between North America and the Soviet Union was
majorly based on the different ideologies of the different nations, the political grounds and the
difference in the economic factors. Upto date the cooperation of the two great nations are guided with
a lot of caution and also there exists a lot of bitter rivalry between the two nations too. The difference
in the political systems which existed in the two countries led to the differences in most of the core
policies implementation issues. During the cold war, the difference in the policies which existed
between the two nations led to the creation of the Cuban missile crisis which made the two nations

The different in the political ideologies during the cold war was caused by the hostility of the United

had supported a lot of activities which were not in line with human rights. The cold war period opened
up the American leaders and the soviet leaders which created a stronger relationship between the two
countries. Different political systems made the two sides to have different believes on the operations
which took place in bringing harmony among the other nations. Tension was high which made the
cold war successful but later between 1989 1991 the Soviet Union failed in the use of communism

Geert Hofstede Cultural Perspective Theory
Geert Hofstede theorized the Cultural Dimensions theory, which allows categorisation of countries or
societies into different dimensions, explaining the effects of a society s culture on the values of its
population. (Hofstede, G. 2009) The dimensions are as follows power distance, uncertainty avoidance,
individualism vs. collectivism, masculine vs feminine, and long term or short term orientation. By
focusing on the individualist vs. collectivist dimension, the impact of geographical location on suicide
rates could potentially be explained.
Members of individualistic cultures place an emphasis personal rights, innovation, and self expression.
Individualistic cultures tend to focus more on themselves rather than groups of people and prioritize
their own personal gains and achievements. Independence is valued; there is less importance is placed
on helping other citizens of the community than in collectivistic societies. Countries such as the
United States, United Kingdom, and Australia are examples of individualistic cultures. In contrast,
collectivistic cultures place an emphasis on collaboration, shared interests and harmony, and focus on
loyalty and cooperation. Collectivist cultures therefore tend to value group efforts over an individual s,
and each person is encouraged to be an active person in society. Southeast Asia, South and Central ...

Therefore, individualistic people tend to not display suicidal behavior, because individualistic people
grow up in types of environment that builds their EQ, which reduces the chances of them attempting

Reintroduction of Wolves at Yellowstone Park Introduction While highly controversial, the
reintroduction of wolves in Yellowstone Park has provided many beneficial ecological changes to the
entire parks ecosystem. After a nearly 70 year absence, in January of 1995, 14 wolves from separate
packs were captured in the Canadian Rockies and transported to Yellowstone National Park in the
states of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho (Sanders par. 2). The Canis Lupus or more commonly known

typically consuming 21 to 32 pounds of meat in a single feeding. In March of 1995, three of the packs
were released in Yellowstone, but with one issue; the wolves refused to exit through the gate because
they had associated it with humans, forcing the park rangers to cut a hole in the side of the enclosure
for them to escape (Sanders par. 11). Once the wolves were released two of the packs left the park and
set up their territory leaving only one group initially setting up inside the park. On May 3, 1995
female wolf number nine gave birth to eight puppies, the first wolves to be born in the park in nearly
70 years. The mother and pups were recaptured and taken back to the acclimation pen, until the pups
were weaned (Sanders par. 15). The reason for this recapture was because at this time, this wolf and
her eight pups counted for almost 50% of the park s wolf population. Since this time there have been
no other human interventions preferring to let nature take its course on the population. In 1996 1997 a
second group of wolves was captured and brought to Yellowstone for introduction via soft release with
two more acclimation pens being built, bringing the total to four. In the winter of 1997 1998 the
reintroduction of wolves was stopped due to the high success of the wolf packs breeding and the pups
surviving on their own. The breeding

Treaty Of Versailles Dbq Essay
The treaty solved none of the major problems which caused the Great War in the first place. France,
Great Britain, and Italy wanted to make sure Germany would never be a military threat again so they
wanted to avenge the war by making Germany take all the blame for starting the war. Germany was
not even permitted to send delegates to the conference. Huge reparation payments were awarded the
allies and Germany was never able to make the payments which only weakened her poor economic
situation, and it became worse with the onset of the Depression of the 1930s. All of Germany s
colonies were taken from them and they were not permitted to have a military other than a national
police force. Hitler would later use the treaty as the cause of all the problems faced by Germany and
convince the people that he could restore national pride and world recognition of Germany as an equal
nation. The treaty of Versailles helped cause world war II by demanding that they pay billions in
reparation, forcing them to sign the war guilt clause, taking vital land away from them, and most
importantly greatly restricting Germanys military. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

1820 cm 1 (presence of C O) and a broad peak between 2400 and 3400cm 1 (presence of O H)
indicates the presence of carboxylic acid (COOH). In this graph there is a peak at 3248 cm 1 (C O)
and a peak at 1589 cm 1 (O H) which confirms the presence of carboxylic acid. To confirm the
presence of amides, a medium absorption near 3400 cm 1 should be observed which is the case in this
graph. Absorptions in the region of 1450 to 1600 cm 1 often designate an aromatic ring and when
consulting the C H region we can confirm its aromatic since the peak is to the left of the 3000 cm 1.
Nitro groups give two strong absorptions at 1530 1600 cm 1 and 1300 1390 cm 1. H NMR spectrum
Nuclei tend to be deshielded by groups which withdraw electron density. Deshielded nuclei resonate at
higher δ values, whereas shielded nuclei resonate at lower δ values.Examples of electron withdrawing
substituents are OH, OCOR, OR, NO2 and halogens. Discussion: We began this experiment by
weighing out the known values of mass for 1 chloro 2,4 dinitrobenzene and m aminobenzoic acid
which was 1.012g and 0.686g respectively. These values were calculated before the experiement based
on the mole ratios of the balanced equation in question. Here the reaction was a 1:1 ratio so we were
able to determine the theoretical mass of our product, m (2,4 dinitroanilino)

Gangs and Teenage Violence Essay
Gangs and Teenage Violence
A gang is a group of people who interact among themselves. Teen violence is contributed to these
gangs. Most gangs claim neighborhoods as their territory and try to control everything inside that
territory. This kind of antisocial behavior is a major problem in American Society.
Gang members are typical members of the same ethnic group. Fear and hatred for people of another
race is called xenophobia. People who are victims of racism are often racists themselves. Rap music
often features lyrics that are offensive to Asians, Jews, and African Americans. Earlier this century, the

some adults would form gangs and hired children to assist them. The novel Oliver Twist is a prime
example of what these were like and what they did. Street gangs were born in England then crossed
the Atlantic Ocean and entered the United States. These Europeans had no place to live or go so they
lived in a trashy neighborhood called the 5pt. District. Some turned to crime for financial support. The
5pt. District became the training ground for the thieves. The first gang formed here was known as the
Forty Thieves. A taveren called Rossanna s Place became the meeting place of this gang. In 1825 the
Kerronians, Plug Uglies, Shirt Tails, and Dead Rabbits were formed. Some gangs murdered than stole

Gangs today often sell drugs for huge profits. The most popular drug soled by today s gangs is cocaine

At that time most within the area of Persia followed the various deities of the Irano Aryan religion,
however, Zarathustra brought up a different faith system (Bekhrad, 2017). His belief system firstly
placed emphasis on the idea of monotheism (as opposed to the polytheism of Irano Aryan religion)
since he felt there was only one god named Ahura Mazda who was worthy of their worship (Bekhrad,
2017). While the concept of monotheism was the central point within Zoroastrianism, other
theological aspects which were present in his religious thought includes Angra Mainyu (the evil spirit
who in some aspects was like Satan), heaven and hell, and a collection of scripture called Avesta
(Corduan, 2015). Zoroastrianism had a strong influence on other religious movements and played a
role in part in shaping the theology which they held (Bekhrad, 2017). The first example of this would
have to be with regards to the Jewish religion since it shows many parallels with Zoroastrianism s
beliefs (Bekhrad, 2017). Such examples of these similarities would have to include that of
monotheism (God and Ahura Mazda), the idea of a collection of scriptures (Torah and Avesta), and
belief in upcoming messianic figures (the Messiah and Sayoshant) (Corduan, 2015). Such influence is
likely to have occurred since the Jews and the Persians are known to have had relations with each
other and likely they passed along theological ideas (Bekhrad, 2017). A second way that
Zoroastrianism influenced a religion would have to be that of Islam (Stepaniants, 2002). Such
influence again can be seen with certain parallels between the two religions, but the method of
influence is different. During the Muslim conquests that occurred in the Middle Ages, one of the
consequences was that they gained power

The claim of Americans not respecting boundaries and laws is only aided by the fact that when

tourism has a profound impact for the country.
Tourism gradually has become a prevalent activity all over the world. Compared to 2009, there were

However, there are some negative points of tourism. One of them is the seasonal employment in

impact of tourism on the environment is a significant issue as the climate change is most troublesome

The Paradox Of Emotions In Noel Carroll s The Philosophy...
The genre of horror films have been spooking audiences since the early 1900s with films such as The
Abominable Snowman and Nosferatu. Although fans of these movies are scared, they continue to
watch to the movies every decade despite their fears. This drive to see movies that induce fear but an
overall avoidance to fear is known as a paradox of horror films. In 1990, Noel Carroll outlined the
paradox of horror in his book entitled The Philosophy of Horror. Carroll discussed in his book at least
three theories that could solve the paradox of horror but each are flawed. The two theories that are
connected the most with experience and the knowledge of what a horror movie experience is the
illusion theory and the thought theory of emotions but Carroll leaves out Edmund Burke s sublime in
his discussion of the paradox of horror. This concept of Burke s sublime can be used without flaw to
dissolve the paradox of horror films unlike the illusion theory or the thought theory of emotions. The
paradox of horror movies is that people are afraid of horror movies despite knowing that the movies
are fiction. Carroll attempts to use the illusion theory and the thought theory of emotions to explain
the paradox but neglects to mention the concept of the sublime which can be used to explain ... Show

Catcher In The Rye Symbolism Analysis
A baseball mitt, a museum, and ducks are obviously three completely different objects, but in The
Catcher in the Rye from 1951 they all possess various similarities. Not only are they all cases of
symbolism, but they all connect to the main character s brother. Holden, the main character,
perpetually dwells on the death of his brother Allie and these three symbols are representations of his
feelings and his inability to mature. In the novel, J.D. Salinger uses symbolism to give us deeper
insight into the reminiscent feelings and depression of Holden. The three symbols do more than just
represent his emotions, though. They also act as mental obstacles for him, and together, they prove the
fact that he still has not moved on from the death of his brother, he still wants to live in the past, and
he has much to overcome.
At the beginning of the book, we first learn about Allie when Holden agrees to write an illustrative
assignment for his roommate, Stradlater, and he makes the paper about Allie s baseball mitt. He tells

that [he] sort of liked writing about it (5.44). At this point in the book, he seems to be sad over the

A more complex and positive definition of citizen journalism by Courtney C. Radsch, suggests public
journalism is an activist form of newsgathering that could be an alternative to mainstream media.
Citizen journalism is reporting that functions outside mainstream media institutions, often as a
response to shortcoming in the professional journalistic field, that uses similar journalistic practices
but is driven by different objectives and ideals and relies on alternative sources of legitimacy than
traditional or mainstream journalism. (Jljtan005.blogspot.co.uk, 2014) In the view of Radsch then,
citizen journalists, without the constraints of working for a commercially driven outlet, are able to
make up for shortcomings present in traditional media and are able to offer news that previously
wouldn t have existed.
The growing online communities of citizen journalists might make the medium seem like a modern
phenomenon however as suggested by Heidi Cohen (2011) in her article, How Social Media Helps
Old Media, the concept of citizen journalism can be traced back to the 13th century when town criers

King Claudius kills his own brother to take over the thrown. That is by far the worst thing he could

He is free to do whatever he wants to do as king of Denmark. Claudius doesn t have to live by any

the ironic thing about it is that he broke one the rules to get to where he is. This shows us that some
people in a society aren t scared to go against the restraints they have. They will do just about
anything to get to where they want to get to. This tells us that society can t live within the rules and

Those who read Uncle Tom s Cabin will find the death of Stowe s mother memorialized in the death
of Eva St. Clare. Stowe claimed that the pain she felt as a child from losing her own mother helped her
identify with the pain felt by African American children and mothers sold apart under slavery. Stowe
later revealed the intense connection she possessed for the character of little Eva. She said that writing
about Eva s death affected [her] so deeply that [she] could not write another word for two weeks...

In 1832, Harriet s father moved the family to the frontier city of Cincinnati, where he became the
president of Lane Seminary. The school was well known for its progressive attitudes and before long it

Enterprise Analysis and Making a Business Case
Enterprise Analysis and Making a Business Case
Overview/Description
Enterprise analysis is a key knowledge area in the practice of business analysis. During enterprise
analysis, the business analyst identifies business opportunities, builds a business architecture
framework, and determines the best project investment path for the enterprise. From this, the business
analyst puts forward a business case, which provides an overall justification for the project. In this
course, learners will examine the collection of preproject or early project activities and approaches for
capturing the necessary view of the business to provide context to requirements and functional design
work for a given initiative and/or for long term planning. This ... Show more content on

When performing strategic goal setting, the business analyst needs a framework for organizing goals.
Strategic goal setting activities include categorizing each goal as being one of four types:
Identifying customer goals helps you deal with how the customer views your company, and these
goals are usually measured in terms of customer satisfaction.
Financial goals are often ranked highest, and are the dollar oriented and accounting outcomes the
company hopes to achieve.
Identifying goals relating to internal processes helps you compare your company s performance to
industry standards. This helps to determine in which areas the company must excel.
Innovation and improvement goals relate to product development, learning and skill development, and
the application of technology. They help you determine how your company can continue to improve
and create value.
Enterprise Analysis
Enterprise analysis is the evaluation of how proposed initiatives will be made across an entire
organization. It is vital for gaining an understanding of the potential business implications and risks to
the business. With this understanding, the business analyst can make clearer, more consistent decisions
for an enterprise.
During enterprise analysis, the business analyst collaborates with business unit managers, project
managers, and IT developers. Enterprise analysis is comprised of several activities:

Influence Of Mass Media Essay
How big of a role does mass media play on societies everyday lives? Communities often conform to
one another and follow in the path of their peers. Media affects this by revealing new trends and
showing a better way to perform at certain tasks. From the way consumers shop to the new style or fad
going around media affects it all. Mass media especially affects the youth and teen because, their
minds are much more vulnerable to what the see on TV, social media, and magazine. Media will even

With news updates and social media simply at the fingertips of almost every American. It has become
very simple to receive news updates by the second. Social media is constantly blowing up with new
stories and the latest breaking news. These sites are discretely inputting a state of mind for Americans
to follow and influence their minds. Even as someone who does not constantly view the news and
follow each and every update. Their minds are still influenced by what they hear from their friends
and family. After their friends and family hear about it. They share the news they read or heard and tell
the people who do not keep up to date with the news. This trickles down and continues to their friends
and family too. The best way to not be overcome by the media and too influenced is to review
different sources and look at different approaches from other news sites or channels. Media uses the
vulnerable minds of the youth to their advantage. Kids and teenagers often find themselves spending a
lot of time in front of a TV and on their phones. Although magazines and newspaper and going out of

Donald Trump s Reputation In Politics
Donald Trump has said many things that many would consider unwise. One of his famous quotes was,
Likewise, tremendous infectious disease is pouring across the border. The United States has become a
dumping ground for Mexico and, in fact, for many other parts of the world. 1 That is just one example
of how Trump, though he is undeniably a fantastic business man, would make a poor president. For
though he is undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best, businessmen in the world, Donald John
Trump, Sr. is simply not suited for the world of politics. The reason he is not suited for that world is
because he is commonly seen as racist, lacks common sense, and is completely uneducated in politics.
The first point that is in need of being addressed, is that Mr. Trump has the reputation to be a racist
person. While there is normally some bias as to whether or not a person s comments are racist, Trump
has taken away any benefit of the doubt that he had when he made this comment:
This was evident just this week when, as an example, a young woman in San Francisco was viciously
killed by a five time deported Mexican with a long criminal record, who was forced back into the
United States because they didn t want him in Mexico. This is merely one of thousands ... Show more

That was a fact that was blatantly evident if some of his speeches about border control. Trump has
spoken of border control very poorly, with his thoughts on the matter seeming to be racist. However
Trump may feel personally about the border, what he has to realize is that now he is not only speaking
on the behalf of himself, he is speaking on the behalf of a country. A country that has maintained very
good relations with the Mexican government, and would be unwise to suddenly break off those
relations because Donald Trump cannot stop saying things that are slanderous towards the Mexican
government, such as the following quote from one of Trump s

Do you have a microphone/headset? Yes i do indeed.
Why do you want this rank? I want this rank because I believe that minecraft is like a community. A
place where people come together to share ideas and have fun. I want to be a part of this and help
make this server a fun community. I am also applying because of how much I enjoy doing this. I love
helping servers grow and become something amazing and I believe I can do this on this server. I love
being a part of something and being dedicated to it. I also love helping people. I feel as if I have a
knack for it. I also strive to do my best in solving problems and fixing arguments. I enjoy everything

if you were to hire someone that doesn t then they might not do the job thorough and well. Also, I
want to be approved because I love meeting new people and making new friends. If you would accept

The renowned American author Thomas Paine writes this straightforward sentence with one task in mind, persuade the American people to declare independence from Britain. Discussing the controversy between the separation of England and the newly formed America s, the author conveys that America must not only isolate herself from England, but America must also reject a monarchical government. For example, the idea of England increasing the profitability of America s trade is addressed by Paine saying, Our plan is commerce and that, well attended to, will secure us the peace and friendship of all Europe; because it is the interest of all Europe to have America a free port. Her trade will always be a protection and her barrenness of gold and silver secure her from invaders. (Paine, 458). Paine s use of the lack of the readers common knowledge allows for a compelling argument which would enlighten audiences. The second way Paine structures his argument for independence from Britain is through an extended metaphor, comparing England and America to a mother and child. Through this metaphor, Paine illustrates the toxicity of the relationship to the reader in plain language. Abandoning technical terms and the phrases often used by higher class, educated individuals Paine keeps the metaphor plain and simple so that everyone can comprehend the message. It is strongly suggested that with this global diffusion of English, the equality for speakers of all languages is flawed. However, in contrast to this, the article The Triumph of English, published in The Economist argues that the language of globalization and of economics and politics is necessary for international communications and further education on large variety of subjects. English will be spoken by over a billion people within a decade, and that the English language has diffused everywhere and globally. The English language is a vital skill to operate on the world stage, because many of the fruitful sources needed for education are published in the global language of English, and people can understand the economics and politics of the world. The ability to understand and communicate in English is mandatory in various fields and professions, and is therefore possibly the lingua franca of the modern day society. Discussion English is essential to the globalization processes for economic and political restructuring. There are opposition of this idea that English can be equally diffused on a global scale. • 5. The Trade Policies Around The World The trade policies around the world are different depending on which country a person lives in. There are many different regulations because there are so many different foreign policies. If a person wants to be successful in doing business globally, then they would have to abide by the country they are interested in doing business with, standards of how to do business. It would be disrespectful to try to do business with another country and not know any of their customs or beliefs, because what you are bringing to the table could be offensive to them which could leave you empty handed if one does not operate right under the business standards of the foreign company. Even though it behooves a business person to abide by another country s foreign trade policy some of the other country s policies may be offensive to the investor. The best thing to focus on when doing business with another country is to come to an equal understanding on point of views, they may have to agree to disagree on some things but, the most important thing to remember is to try to make money with other countries to extend your business to new heights. When an investor set point of views to the side and focus on the matter at hand, and that is to make money, then they will be more comfortable abiding by another county s way of doing business. Since the events happened so long ago, there are many incomplete accounts of the events. Even these incomplete accounts are usually heavily biased. As such, it is a difficult undertaking for a historian to construct a cohesive summary of the period. Nevertheless, Marc Morris attempted the task, and did an admirable job. It is written as a narrative, but has enough detail to satisfy a student of history. Morris begins by exploring the history of one of the few sources that remain of the Norman invasion, the Bayeux tapestry. The tapestry has had a long history of trading hands and escaping harm seemingly miraculously. According to Morris, the Bayeux tapestry has survived looting in the French Revolution, was owned by Napoleon Bonaparte for a time, and was stolen by Nazis during their occupation of France in World War II. Aside from its own fascinating history, the tapestry itself is not a flawless source. Morris points out that it is in fact incomplete, as it abruptly stops at Harold Godwinson s death. It was also in part copied from older accounts of the invasion and therefore is not a primary source. It is also non committal in its portrayal of events and the captions are for the most part willfully obscure or ambiguous (p. 4). Geert Hofstede Cultural Perspective Theory Geert Hofstede theorized the Cultural Dimensions theory, which allows categorisation of countries or societies into different dimensions, explaining the effects of a society s culture on the values of its population. (Hofstede, G. 2009) The dimensions are as follows power distance, uncertainty avoidance, individualism vs. collectivism, masculine vs feminine, and long term or short term orientation. By focusing on the individualist vs. collectivist dimension, the impact of geographical location on suicide rates could potentially be explained. Members of individualistic cultures place an emphasis personal rights, innovation, and self expression. Individualistic cultures tend to focus more on themselves rather than groups of people and prioritize their own personal gains and achievements. Independence is valued; there is less importance is placed on helping other citizens of the community than in collectivistic societies. While in the acclimation pens the wolves were fed a diet of elk and other road kill with wolves typically consuming 21 to 32 pounds of meat in a single feeding. In March of 1995, three of the packs were released in Yellowstone, but with one issue; the wolves refused to exit through the gate because they had associated it with humans, forcing the park rangers to cut a hole in the side of the enclosure for them to escape (Sanders par. 11). Once the wolves were released two of the packs left the park and set up their territory leaving only one group initially setting up inside the park. On May 3, 1995 female wolf number nine gave birth to eight puppies, the first wolves to be born in the park in nearly 70 years. The mother and pups were recaptured and taken back to the acclimation pen, until the pups were weaned (Sanders par. 15). The reason for this recapture was because at this time, this wolf and her eight pups counted for almost 50% of the park s wolf population. Since this time there have been no other human interventions preferring to let nature take its course on the population. In 1996 1997 a second group of wolves was captured and brought to Yellowstone for introduction via soft release with two more acclimation pens being built, bringing the total to four. France, Great Britain, and Italy wanted to make sure Germany would never be a military threat again so they wanted to avenge the war by making Germany take all the blame for starting the war. Germany was not even permitted to send delegates to the conference. Huge reparation payments were awarded the allies and Germany was never able to make the payments which only weakened her poor economic situation, and it became worse with the onset of the Depression of the 1930s. All of Germany s colonies were taken from them and they were not permitted to have a military other than a national police force. Hitler would later use the treaty as the cause of all the problems faced by Germany and convince the people that he could restore national pride and world recognition of Germany as an equal nation. In this graph there is a peak at 3248 cm 1 (C O) and a peak at 1589 cm 1 (O H) which confirms the presence of carboxylic acid. To confirm the presence of amides, a medium absorption near 3400 cm 1 should be observed which is the case in this graph. Absorptions in the region of 1450 to 1600 cm 1 often designate an aromatic ring and when consulting the C H region we can confirm its aromatic since the peak is to the left of the 3000 cm 1. His belief system firstly placed emphasis on the idea of monotheism (as opposed to the polytheism of Irano Aryan religion) since he felt there was only one god named Ahura Mazda who was worthy of their worship (Bekhrad, 2017). While the concept of monotheism was the central point within Zoroastrianism, other theological aspects which were present in his religious thought includes Angra Mainyu (the evil spirit who in some aspects was like Satan), heaven and hell, and a collection of scripture called Avesta (Corduan, 2015). Zoroastrianism had a strong influence on other religious movements and played a role in part in shaping the theology which they held (Bekhrad, 2017). The first example of this would have to be with regards to the Jewish religion since it shows many parallels with Zoroastrianism s beliefs (Bekhrad, 2017). Such examples of these similarities would have to include that of monotheism (God and Ahura Mazda), the idea of a collection of scriptures (Torah and Avesta), and belief in upcoming messianic figures (the Messiah and Sayoshant) (Corduan, 2015). Such influence is likely to have occurred since the Jews and the Persians are known to have had relations with each other and likely they passed along theological ideas (Bekhrad, 2017). A second way that Zoroastrianism influenced a religion would have to be that of Islam (Stepaniants, 2002). This drive to see movies that induce fear but an overall avoidance to fear is known as a paradox of horror films. In 1990, Noel Carroll outlined the paradox of horror in his book entitled The Philosophy of Horror. Carroll discussed in his book at least three theories that could solve the paradox of horror but each are flawed. The two theories that are connected the most with experience and the knowledge of what a horror movie experience is the illusion theory and the thought theory of emotions but Carroll leaves out Edmund Burke s sublime in his discussion of the paradox of horror. Catcher In The Rye Symbolism Analysis A baseball mitt, a museum, and ducks are obviously three completely different objects, but in The Catcher in the Rye from 1951 they all possess various similarities. Not only are they all cases of symbolism, but they all connect to the main character s brother. Holden, the main character, perpetually dwells on the death of his brother Allie and these three symbols are representations of his feelings and his inability to mature. In the novel, J.D. Salinger uses symbolism to give us deeper insight into the reminiscent feelings and depression of Holden. The three symbols do more than just represent his emotions, though. They also act as mental obstacles for him, and together, they prove the fact that he still has not moved on from the death of his brother, he still wants to live in the past, and he has much to overcome.
