How are Visual Effects and Special Effects different?arenasurat
Here are the differences between Visual Effects and Special Effects. VFX are made in post-production, using the power of a computer and SFX are done ‘in camera,’ that is to say they really, physically happen.
Here is the ppt on VFX-Visual effects in which i have included:
-vfx,CGI,some of the categories of vfx, short view of founder ofmarvel comics and ILM-industrial light and magic and examples of same,etc......
This presentation will help you in understanding the concept of VFX along with some other terminologies that we hear these days like CGI (computer generated images) and Animations. The content and material that have been used in the presentation is very easy and also very self-explanatory. Also there's a video in the last which describes everything really well. Hope you'll enjoy it.

Visual effects are the various process by which imagery is created and manipulated outside the context of a live action shot.
CGI is the application of computer graphics to crate or contribute to image in art, printed media, video games, films, television programs, commercials, and simulators.
Rotoscoping is an animation technique in which animators trace over live- action film movement, frame by frame, for use in animated films.
A matte painting is a painted representation of a landscape, set, or distant location that allows filmmaker to create the illusion of an environment that is nonexistent in real life or would otherwise be too expensive or impossible to build or visit.
Motion capture (MOCAP) is an effective 3D animation tool for realistically capturing human motion.
Read about commonly used software, tools, and technology used in visual effects to created better films and games in this presentation from animation courses institute. Here we shows 5 visual effect techniques commonly used in animation.
Visual effects (commonly shortened to Visual F/X or VFX) are the various processes by which imagery is created and/or manipulated outside the context of a live action shoot.
Animation
The rapid display of a sequence of images of 2-D or 3-D artwork or model positions in order to create an illusion of movement.
Relies on the persistence of vision to create the illusion of movement.
In the early 1800s, the phenomenon known as persistence of vision gave mankind the first glimpse into the modern world of animation.
Persistence of vision refers to the way our eyes retain images for a split second longer than they actually appear, making a series of quick flashes appear as one continuous picture.

3. Video Editing
• The process of editing:
segments of motion video footage
special effects
sound recordings.
FILM=Videos + sounds + Effects
4. What is VFX ? :
a category of special effects in which images
or film frames are created and manipulated
for film and video.
integration of live-action footage with
computer generated imagery.
5. Types Of VFX :
Visual effects may be divided into at least four
categories:
Models: miniature sets and models, animatronics, stop
motion animation.
Matte paintings and stills: digital or traditional
paintings or photographs which serve as background
plates for keyed or rotoscoped elements.
Live-Action Effects: keying actors or models through
bluescreening and greenscreening.
Digital animation : computer graphics lighting,
texturing ,and rendering computer-generated 3d
characters, praticle effect, digital sets, background.
7. Chroma Keying
It is a technique for compositing two images or
frames together in which a color image is removed
(transparent) revealing another image behind it.
It is commonly used for weather forecast broadcasts.
This technique is also used in the entertainment
industry.
The color image is generally a green or blue colored
clothing.
9. Rotoscoping
It is an animation technique in which animators
trace over live-action film movement, frame by
frame, for use in animated films
The technique was invented by MaxFleischer
11. Morphing
• It is a special effect in motion pictures and
animations that changes (or morphs) one image
into another through a seamless transition.
• examples:
image Of George.W.Bush & Hollywood
Actor Arnold Schwarzenegar
12. Stop Action
• Stop Action Also known as stop action is an
animation technique to make a physically
manipulated object appear to move on its own. The
object is moved in small increments between
individually photographed frames, creating the
illusion of movement when the series of frames is
played as a continuous sequence. Clay figures are
often used in stop motion for their ease of
repositioning. Motion animation using clay is called
clay animation or clay-motion.
14. Challenges for VFX :
We will able to build virtual human.
We will able to create believable facial animation.
We will able to create synthetic massive environments.
Pipeline tools will be standardized.
Advances in digital VFX animation will mean far less
physical effects work.
Movie/game conversion will become common.
15. Detriments of VFX
Specific hardware and special programs are required
to obtain and process the data.
The cost of the software, equipment and personnel
required can potentially be prohibitive for small
productions.
Movement that does not follow the laws of physics
generally cannot be captured.
If the computer model has different proportions
from the capture subject, artifacts may occur.
