Family Life Cycle Essay
Road Ends There are moments in life that society portrays as phases or experiences in which most
and predicted to go. These moments are referred to as stages, by theoretical approaches, that are
predicted as normative events. The Family Life Cycle approach suggest that families have life
courses with predictable stages that are identified by normativeevents. Though, non normative
events that are not often experienced by families can take a different toll on one s life. In the story,
Road Ends , by Mary Lawson, is a prime example of
Family Life Cycle . Lawson portrays a distinct family structure, each following a different path, with
independent experiences, leading in life changing experiences. Through analyzing the characters ...

Gattaca Genetic Engineering Analysis
The movie s portrayal of scientists makes human manners towards the Na vi look bad because
some of the humans did not care about the Na vi. The military and the big corporation would kill
the whole native species before giving up the supply of unobtanium. They would kill their own men
who betrayed them to get the unobtanium. The scientists were able to genetically engineer
modified humanDNAwith Na vi alien genetic material to create avatars, which through psionics
humans could mind link with their avatars. In today s world, genetic engineering is a touchy
subject. In fact, we are having a whole Nobel conference over it in 2017, to debate if it is
ethically moral to genetically modify humans. Gattaca was an entire movie based on genetic
engineering. Genetically engineering a species can have many bad points like one specific disease

good scientific points supporting genetic engineering too. You can get rid of some diseases such as

The Problem Of Induction, Inductive Reasoning, And Weather
The problem of induction, inductive reasoning, and weather or not nature is uniform, are questions
that have been raised by many a great philosopher. Induction, and Inductive reasoning is when you
make observations of past events and occurrences and base your knowledge on those observations.
From these observations you make generalizations, the problem with inductive reasoningand the
problem with induction is that, your observations generalize and assume, sometimes too much,
sometimes on a very limited number of observations which is not necessarily enough to assume
that you are in fact right in knowing about a certain thing. Imagine all the swans you had ever
seen or heard about were white, and you had never seen or heard of a black swan before. You
would then assume and think that there were only such a thing as white swans, and rightly so, but
does this mean there is no such thing as a black swan? No, it just means there has not ever been a
black swan that you have seen or heard of, but because of inductive reasoning, and your own
observations you could make a false claim. The claim that there are only white swans. Inductive
reasoning also assumes that because a sequence of events has happened in the past they will again
in the future, this is called the uniformity of nature, The sun is an example of this, it rises every
day and sets every night, and it has done so since the beginning of time. Therefore, due to the sun
rising and setting in the past, due to inductive

Piaget s Theory Of Cognitive Development Essay
When talking about human development, we are referring to the growth of humans in all aspects
throughout their life. In this essay, I will be discussing two types of human development.
Cognitive development, which is to do with the ability to think, remember and reason, and Social
development, which involves relationships and interactions in the world around the individual. I
will focus on how they relate to two significant experiences in my life and how these experiences
were critical to my development as a learner. I will do this by analysing these experiences through
Piaget s theory of cognitive developmentincluding key concepts of equilibration, adaptation and
former operation cognitive stage, and Bronfenbrenner s bioecological systems theory including key
concepts of the microsystem, mesosystem, and macrosystem.
Piaget s theory of cognitive development is the theory I will be using to analyse my first
significant experience. According to Piaget s theory of cognitive development, during childhood
and adolescence, a child constructs an understanding of their environment by organising
information into schemas, a schema is basically a group of ideas about an object or an experience.
If the individual comes across an inconsistency, or an object or an experience that is unfamiliar,
their cognitive balance is upset and they begin to seek cognitive balance, this process of seeking
balance is called equilibration. They achieve this equilibration through Adaptation, by either

Michel Foucault s Theory Of Discipline And Punishment
Michel Foucault states in Discipline and Punishment that the Panopticon is a marvelous machine
which, whatever use one may wish to put it to, produces homogeneous effects of power (Foucault
188). Examining the evolution, physical characteristics, and psychological effects of the
Panopticon allows one to understand the mechanism by which the Panopticonproduces power. Most
inventions develop through an evolutionary process while attempting to improve a situation or
solve a problem. Often, a prototype precedes a new structure or mechanism. Foucault uses the term
projects to describe two historical events and the social responses to resolve the problems associated
with these events. He suggests that the Panopticon developed from these two projects, the
quarantine of the plague and colonizing the lepers. Foucault describes how the Panopticon
developed from a seventeenth century order issued to deal with the scourge of the plague. First, a
strict spatial partitioning: the closing of the town and its outlying districts was mandated (Foucault
181). The town was further divided into quarters, streets, and households. A syndic who was in the
charge of an intendant supervised each family in their residence. A considerable body of militia and
guards at the gate ensured that the magistrate over the town had absolute authority (Foucault 181).
Only the syndics, intendants, and guards moved about the streets (Foucault 181). They monitored
and reported the

What Does Free Will Mean To You Essay
I firmly advocate that others opinions should never constrain us. As Mary Kay Ash, a
successful businesswoman once declared, You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you
believe, remember, you can achieve. Likewise, what matters most to me is determination: we
can accomplish anything if we set our minds to our goals. Regardless of the outcome of my
choices, I am determined to passionately follow my heart and make my own decisions. Prior to
employing the affirmative ideology of free will, I was once extremely sensitive to others
attitudes. In fact, I was afraid to speak in public. I realized that this issue greatly hindered my
pursuit of my dream of entrepreneurship, so I forced myself to practice speaking at least once per
class. Eventually, I articulated my... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Research Paper on Facebook Diminishing Privacy
Privacy is often defined as freedom from the observation, intrusion, or attention of others. If that
was taken away from daily life the world would become a collection of omniscient beings that
walk around with potentially harmful information about those surrounding them. Stalking would
be unnecessary because the internet would do all for the work for us. Social networking sites are
creating many such concerns. One of the most widely known social networking sites is Facebook.
When reviewing Facebook s privacy policy, you may want to keep in mind that an examination of

friend has a parent or family member as their friend. That family member can now see where

occurrence. Another popular feature is the ability to upload photos. Users share four Billion

Causes Of The Yamasee War
The Yamasee War
There were always conflicts between the Native Americans and the colonist when the colonist
settled in North America. For example, the Pequot War, which lasted from 1636 1637 and was
among the colonist of Connecticut, Massachusetts Bay, and Saybrook versus the Pequot Indians.
The Yamasee Warwas another conflict that killed over 400 colonist in South Carolina. The colonist
vigorously stole, lied, and forced the Yamasee into slavery. To not be seen as weak the Yamasee
raided the colonist homes and plantations to kill and destroy them and their property. This led to
small militia s of the colonist fighting back and after two long years of fighting, the Yamasee lost
the war. To end the war, many tribes signed a peace accord. This pushed the Yamasee along with
more tribes down to Florida, where they formed the Seminole tribe.
Unfair trade and fear also caused the Yamasee War. The main goal for the English in North
America was to find gold. When no gold is found, the colonist trade products like fur and skins
with the Yamasee who until now relied on themselves for everything. However, the colonist start to
treat the Yamasee unfair or unjustly, like in this example, From the Yamasee perspective, their
Carolina allies had become greedy, irresponsible, and violent, thereby destroying the chains of
obligation that once bound them as allies. (Slavery in Indian Country: The Changing Face of
Captivity in Early America). The Yamasee also began to disagree with the

Analyzing and Interpreting Data
The ultimate goal of descriptive statistics is to describe a set of data, identify patterns, and draw a
conclusion, which enables an organization to make effective and informed decisions (McClave,
Benson, Sincich, 2011). The company, Ballard Integrated Managed Services (BIMS), a support
services company will leverage statistics to gather information on the company s employees to
analyze and identify patterns. The goal of this research project is to determine the reason for the

Second, questions one through ten qualify as ordinal data because of the relative rankings without
consistent distances. Finally, the time worked for BIMS qualifies as ratio level data because it is
easily ordered, consistent differences and zero is meaningful (McClave, Benson, Sincich, 2011).
Each level of data has unique characteristics, which dictate the way the information is calculated,
summarized, and presented.
Coding and Cleaning the Data
Coding the data is a systematic way in which data is condensed into smaller easily analyzed units
(Lockyer, 2004). By coding the surveys received by BIMs it enables the company to analyze and
interpret the data to draw an informed conclusion. The coding enables the research team to
identify mistakes, and outliers, which improves the data s validity (Lockyer, 2004). To code
BIMS data, the surveys must be numbered, and all corresponding data must be manually entered
into Microsoft Excel, which increases the cost, time, and risk. The data is at risk of being entered
incorrectly. Next, the raw data must be cleaned to ensure validity, relevancy, and accuracy. After
the data was imported into Excel, the data must be reviewed for mistakes. One error that was
identified was that a six was entered into Excel even though a five was observed. By coding and
cleaning the data, the researcher will proactively identify errors or outliers while enabling a
computer to complete statistical analysis and

Compare And Contrast Marshall And Ebeye
In 1944, the Marshall Islands were taken by the U.S from Japan, where they built a missile base

Why Were The Bolsheviks Successful In Seizing Power

Prior to the 1917 Revolutions, there was constant unsettlement within Russia; there was a struggle
for food, a struggle for economic control and a struggle for a stable government. The February
Revolution brought an end to Tsar Nicholas II reign and emerged was a Provisional Government
based on democratic ideals. Despite the Provisional Government s success in implementing civil

Public Sentiments Concerning Chinese Immigration Essay
Public Sentiments Concerning Chinese Immigration In 1852, there were over 20,000 Chinese
immigrants living in California (Franks). Americans reacted very negatively to this influx, and their
negative sentiments were made apparent in the California Supreme Court s People v. Hall verdict,
which rendered Chinese testimony unreliable. Then, in 1882, President Chester Arthur signed the
Chinese Exclusion Act, a law that prohibited Chinese laborers from entering the United States
(Foner, 651). From the 1850s up to the Exclusion Act of 1882, Americans felt increasingly negative
sentiments towards the Chinese. As illustrated through newspaper and magazine depictions along
the Pacific Coast, the Americans perceived the Chinese as inferior and... Show more content on

The scenery is drawn with many dark shades on the walls and floor, depicting it as an alley or a
similarly secluded location. Here, the Chinese man partakes in his devious acts, away from the
public eye. This sets a dark, mischievous tone, and in the drawing the little boy is smoking a
cigar, presumably as a result of the Chinese man s negative influence. The little boy is underage
and is engaging in immoral behavior. The Chinese man has corrupted him simply through
association, and by smoking a cigar at his age he has been corrupted. This depiction shows the
underlying perception that the Chinese were an infestation that were negatively influencing and
corrupting the population. This perception of the Chinese as a menace is also apparent in the
image Amusing the Child from The Wasp. This picture depicts the Chinese man as a diabolical
creature: He crawls around on four legs like a dog, and has large scaly hands with sharp, thin nails.
The Chinese man wears tattered clothing and from behind, a long, red devil s tale extends from his
body. Also, the image has two Americans sitting on chairs: Sitting in the left chair is President
Chester Arthur and in the right chair is a baby, which represents the Pacific Coast. The Chinese
man s appearance not only degrades him, but also establishes the view that the Chinese

Offensive Side Of Things Essay
The Offensive Side of Things The game of football originated in the United states in the late
19th century. The very first official game of football was played on November 6, 1869 and was
held in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The players from each team, Princeton and Rutgers, battled
it out as they played the first ever intercollegiate football game. There is a man in particular we
need to give credit to for finding this spectacular American sport we call football, his name is
Walter Camp, other people may know him as the Father of American Football(Who Invented
Football?).
There are three different units in football, and within those units there is a unit called offense.
Offense is the unit that tries to score the whole game, and who also has possession ... Show more

However, in every situation the team must have seven people on the line of scrimmage at all
times. Yes, the team may have more than seven, but never fewer than seven. Therefore, having
five linemen positioned for blocking on the line of scrimmage, at least two other people must be
on the line, most times there s two wide receivers, but can be of any position, there just needs to
be two other bodies on the line of scrimmage. The running backs, tight ends, and wide receivers are
positioned where they are for a reason, so they can easily be in position to score or gain as many
yards as possible.
Football is a game of will, and desire to pound your opponent into the earth s crust. It s a physical
sport and their are many times where it can be dangerous. The linemen need to block and protect
their teammates, the running backs need to run fast and score, the receivers need to catch the ball
and score, and the quarterback needs to hit his target and not let the ball fall tothe ground. When
each and every position does their job and does it correctly, that is when a team becomes

Regarding Indefinite Administrative Detention Essay
Regarding Indefinite Administrative Detention
Blind patriotism and resounding public support of President Bush s War on terrorism after the
events of September 11 th have allowed considerable leeway to be taken by the Federal Government
in terms of indefinite detention of non U.S. citizens in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. But all the flag
waving seems to have helped a lot of people dismiss the idea that, even though the detainees taken
from Afghanistan in the past year are not U.S. citizens, they remain innocent until proven guilty
according to American legal principles.

Constitution, to be protected by the 5 th Amendment Due Process clause, which forbids the
Government to depriv[e] any person ... of ... liberty...without due process of law. (Zadvydas,
III(A)) is absolutely crucial to maintaining a fair, evenhanded administration of justice by the U.S.
courts system. The U.S. Supreme Court took this into consideration when deciding Zadvydas v.
Davis (2001), in which plaintiff argued that a law regulating the lengthy detention process applied
to deportable aliens whose deportation/reception arrangements were still pending violated his
right to Due Process. This will be discussed in depth later. But the case was not based on
constitutional issues, rather it focused on statutory laws that define the complex procedures for
holding and deporting aliens. Before an analysis of the legal reasoning used to decide Zadvydas
can be appropriately understood, one must receive a brief overview of exactly how and why this
case applies to Attorney General John Ashcroft s ability to indefinitely detain suspected terrorists at
Guantanamo Bay.
The complication here is that the main focus of this case is not on suspected terrorists, prisoners of
war, or any issue of national security regarding deportation of enemies of the state. The primary
legal question in Zadvydas is whether 8 U.S.C. В§1231(a)(6), a provision permitting the United

Sinkholes In Alabama Essay
Alabama is divided into four main physical regions. First, the Coastal Plain dominates the southern
half of the state. It is the home of the Black Belt, which contains rich, chalky soil, and consists
mostly of lowlands and low ridges. Second, the Piedmont Plateau is situated just to the north in east
central Alabama. This area is known for its rolling hills and valleys, as well as Alabama s highest
elevation point the Cheaha Mountain. Third, ridges and valleys surround the Piedmont Plateau to
the north and west. These landforms run northeast southwest, and extend as far south as
Birmingham. Finally, the Appalachian Plateau makes up most of the northeast. Part of the

Soluble carbonate rocks under the surface and the collapse of old mines are common causes for
sinkholes. Much of Alabama s land is underlain by limestone, which is vulnerable to dissolution
and leads to the formation of caves or sinkholes. The largest sinkhole recorded in the state
developed near Calera in 1972 and was 325 feet long, 300 feet wide, and 120 feet deep.
Northeast Alabama also suffers from earthquakes due to the state s proximity to the Southern
Appalachian Seismic Zone that runs along the Appalachian Mountains. The largest earthquake
recorded occurred October 1916 at a 5.1 magnitude and spanned multiple states. The second
largest earthquake in Alabama occurred October 24, 1997 at a 4.9 magnitude. In addition to
sinkholes and earthquakes, the state suffers landslides due to rock strength. Most of the state is
categorized as argillaceous rocks such as shales, clayey soil, and poorly compacted fills. A few
areas are classified as weakly cemented rocks and soils such as sandy soils and poorly cemented
sandstone. Though there are clusters of strongly cemented rocks, much of the state is included in
the weaker categories. This means that they are more susceptible to landslides when earthquakes
occur. (Geological Survey of

Persuasive Speech About Friendship
Previously dim lights now shining with the force of a thousand suns.
A rhythmic beating of a ball bouncing off the hardwood floor.
Sneakers squeaking off in the distance.
Grown men yelling obscenities at the free teenage labor.
Fights being had on Twitter over children from a distance.
A government agency looming, not looking to govern, yet things might change forever nonetheless.
Welcome, friends. College basketball is back.
I would say it is better than ever, but that would be a lie. We are friends. Friends do not fib to each
other. They tell the truth, even if it hurts, while hoping whatever negatives come forth do not
infringe on a lifelong friendship.
College basketball is kind of like your friend from high school who never grew up. Our gender
binary friend (using he for the sake of keeping it simple the rest of the way) clings to a glory
most stopped long ago caring to relive. He s stomping his feet, drinking a Natty Ice, and talking

We accept him, warts (and shitty beer taste) and all.
For better or worse, college basketball has as much to do about its tradition as it does its on the
court product. Over the years, to the point of nausea if we are to be honest, I have written about
what the sport brings to the table. If we were to do some worthless power rankings, the actual
quality of the games would be listed somewhere below fan ownership, pageantry, and

Each individual player will be monitored and supported across the FA 4 corner model (pictured
below), this model outlines the factors that need to be considered as a young player or learner
grows and develops in the learning environment. Each of the corners is connected and relies on
support from the other three areas.
The FA 4 Corner Model (long term player development)
We introduced this model to help the young learners understand that technical ability
unaccompanied will not be enough on the pathway to excellence. They must understand that
barriers or challenges such as injuries, growth spurts, external pressures, financial issues and self
doubt could all potentially face them as they grow and develop in the game. To add to the
complexity of the 4 corner model even cultural, faith and ethnic issues which arise with diverse
groups are taken into account.
As you can see from the diagram players have an opportunity to alter the amount of support they
require on a regular basis, this can range from a high amount of support over all 4 corners or very
little support over just one corner. Some of the Academic/Pastoral support services we have
implemented internally have included:

Women In The Lai Of Guigemar
The women described in the Lais of Marie de France often commit traditionally sinful deeds, such
as adultery, murder, and betrayal. However, with a few exceptions, the protagonists often end up
living happily with their beloved for the rest of their lives. The Lais advocate for situational
judgement rather than general condemnation of specific acts, which can be seen through Marie de
Frances treatment of sinful heroines.
The central female in the lai of Guigemar is a young lady of high birth (46) who is trapped in a
tower by her older, jealous husband, Meriaduc. When a wounded Guigemar sails into the
harbour (46), she becomes smitten and commits adultery. The young lady and Guigemar are not
adulterous for the sake of sexual gratification; they are both tortured by love in a pure and noble
form, evidenced later by their pledges to love no one but each other. Even through Guigemar and
the lady s separation, never would he take a wife, for love or money, (51), further demonstrating
the virtue and goodness of their love. On the part of the lady, her love for Guigemar is even more
virtuous because she is trapped perpetually by a cruel master.
Nonetheless, it would seem without context that Guigemar and the lady are committing a sinful act
through their relationship. When the context is more closely examined, the affair is clearly
portrayed as being morally right. The two lovers remain faithful to each other [therefore] the love
between [them is] right and just (49). The

Essay On Judgement In To Kill A Mockingbird
Beneath the Skin
There will always be that one person that gets hate and one that everybody loves. Living up to
other s expectation is an intricate way to fit in with society. Judgement isn t the only problem in
this generation; judging somebody by their actions and appearances cause people to be outcasted
which makes an impact on society. In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, the narrator, Scout Finch,
sums up what has happened in her preteen years, along with her brother, Jem Finch. As they are
growing up, they face conflicts throughout their hometown, Maycomb. Maycomb is a small little
town in Alabama full of judgemental racist hypocrites. One day, their dad, Atticus Finch, is set off
to handle a case about an African American, Tom Robinson, being framed for raping a young
white girl, Mayella Ewell, daughter in of the lowest families. As a lawyer, Atticus was up with
Tom. After losing the case against Mayella s dad, Bob Ewells, Scout, and Jem have lost their
social issues. In a city like Maycomb, residents and citizens are making critiques while being
prejudice when it comes to segregation and racism. Furthermore, the novel explains that people like
to judge and reject the unfamiliar.
Judgement is one of society s biggest conflict. In chapter 9, Atticus tries to explain to the
housekeeper, Calpurnia, about why he wants the kids to grow up in the right direction saying, Why
reasonable people go stark raving mad when anything involving a Negro comes up, is

Sql Vs. Relational Databases
To SQL or Not to SQL
Relational databases play a major role in making many apps and programs work. They provide an
easy way to store large amounts of data in a consistent, non duplicating, and maintainable way to
be used by developers for analytical or software use ( Advantages of a relational database , n.d.).
However, more and more applications and companies with a tremendous amount of data such as
search engines, social networks, and e commerce sites have been requiring a level of speed and
scalability that relational databases can not provide ( Why NoSQL? , n.d.). NoSQL is a name
given to a quickly growing type of database known as non relational databases, which are being
used to store and manage huge amounts of structured, semi structured, and non structured data
known as Big Data ( Why NoSQL? n.d.). With the advent of social networks and apps with
millions of users, the rate of growth of non structured and semi structured data is exponential, and
the value in being able to quickly traverse it, analyze it, and use it for development is also growing
quickly (McGuire, Manyika, Chui, 2012).
Fundamentally, relational and non relational databases are very different. Relational databases
generally follow the ACID transaction principles, while non relational databases generally follow
BASIC principles (Sasaki, 2015). ACID stands for atomic, consistent, isolated, durable; and
prioritizes data consistency, stability, and accuracy over speed and scalability (Sasaki,

Factors That Can Be Taken Into Account When An Individual...
There are various factors that can be taken into account when an individual is walking. Whether it is
your speed, group size, destination, status, culture, personality, distractions, or sex, one way of the
other they manage to have an impact on walking behaviors. Past researchers have indicated that
these factors may have an effect on walkingbehaviors and with our observation we put the theories
to test. The factors taken into account were genderand group size and their effect on walking speed
and interpersonal distance.
Earlier research finding have reported that interpersonal distances are influenced by dominance,
attraction, age, similarity and gender. Willis (1996) reported in his research that young people
are more like to approach one another closer and as people tend to age the more personal space is
recorded. A closer more intimate space is seen in opposite sexpairs (Aiello 1987; Crawford and
Unger 2000; Hall 1984; Heshka and Nelson 1972). From this finding, researchers conclude that
when people interact in closer distances they have an attraction or interpersonal relationship.
Dominance, power, and status are also said lead to lower interpersonal distance. Similarities in
race, sexual preference, religions are also factors that contribute to a closer interpersonal distance
(Bell et al., 2001).
According to some researchers negatively toned situations cause larger spatial zones (Strayer and
Roberts 1997). Studies suggest that women are more prone to react in

The Importance Of Civil Rights In The United States
Throughout the history of the United States of America, various groups have risen to demand equal
treatment under the law. In many cases the treatment they were seeking was in part pursued based
on the fact that they believed they were entitled to as a American citizen. In many instances these
groups were successful in advocating their position based what they felt were their rights under the
Constitution of the United States. Some of the rights sought were based on civil right, and some
were based on civil liberties. Each time a group or an individual has risen to protect such rights;
they have been met with considerable opposition from the many who interpret such rights

Often groups will leverage civil liberties protections to make their case for acceptance or to gain
political clout to progress their cause. The pursuit of such an advantage means that a decision of
which fundamental value will be used to advance the issue. Some of the values that provide the
best argument are often competing with each other. The Value of Freedom, or complete absence
of restrictions or barriers, is a concept that was relevant during the times of slavery but is in
direct conflict with the concept of order. Order is achieved by erecting restrictions and barriers.
However the very order reduces the purity of Freedom. The most commonly pursued value is that
of equality. The desire for equality has driven groups to organize effectively and make the case to
end slavery, and eventually capitalize on legislation that created the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Though Freedom, Equality and order can be mutually compatible there is tension among

Is The Dichotomy In Relation To The Baptism In The Holy...
Introduction This paper will compare and evaluate the views of John MacArthur and Keith
Warrington, in relation to the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Particularly, focusing on their views as
to whether the baptism in the Holy Spirit takes place as a consequence of conversion or
subsequently, as a unique experience. Each author s views will be compared and evaluated using
other academic sources, with special reference to Biblical evidence. Finally, a clear conclusion from
the evaluation process will establish which argument is better founded Biblically.
The Initial Argument John MacArthur, a Cessationist, claims that at the moment of salvation all
believers are, baptised, indwelt and sealed with the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, MacArthur argues ...

The first part is found in John 20:22 and the second part is found in Acts 2:1 4. Warrington,
claims that a partial filling of the Holy Spirit was given in John 20:22, with a fuller filling given in
Acts 2:1 4. Furthermore, the first filling resulted in the authority to forgive and to withhold the
forgiveness of sins, whilst the second filling resulted in a more permanent indwelling of the Holy
Spirit (John 20:23, Acts 2:4).
However, MacArthur counters this claim by stating that in John 20:22, the Holy Spirit was not
given, but only promised. Evidence for this counterclaim is provided in John 20:26, whereby
eight days after this, pledge to be filled with the Holy Spirit, the disciples are found to be locked
inside through fear of the Jews. Therefore, the disciples must have lacked the Holy Spirit s
manifest power and presence, proving that the Holy Spirit had not yet been given; a view supported
by KoМ€stenberger.
In order to evaluate Warrington s claim and to bring a conclusion to this argument it is essential to
analyse these passages in reference to other scholarly

Witchcraft Hysteria By Laurie Winn Carlson
As Peter S Beagle says, You ever want to see real witchcraft, you watch people protecting their
comfort, their beliefs. This quote is saying if you want to truly understand someone, learn about
what they believe in. It all began in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. The accusations toward
people who were thought to be witches was on the rise. These would not be the kind of witches a
person would think about in today s world, but women and men who were put on trial for
witchcraft hysteria, which in turn caused mass hysteria. Based on the excerpts from Carol Karlsen
and Laurie Winn Carlson, there are two main theories about the Salem Witchcraft Hysteria. One
theory about the witches was crafted and explained by Carol Karlsen. She believed... Show more

Following this, in January 1692, nine year old Elizabeth Parris and eleven year old Abigail
Williams began having fits. The fits included violent contortions and uncontrollable outbursts of
screaming. After a local doctor by the name of William Griggs diagnosed the girls with
bewitchment, other girls in the area began to exhibit similar symptoms. After Elizabeth Parris and
Abigail Williams both had symptoms of being witches, it spread like wildfire in the community,
followed by many others having similar symptoms. As stated by A E networks, a historical archive
website, As hysteria spread through the community and beyond into the rest of Massachusetts, a
number of others were accused, including Martha Corey and Rebecca Nurse both regarded as
upstanding members of church and community and the four year old daughter of Sarah Good. After
a while the trials became very overwhelming and concerning to others in the community. The
historical events of Salem are documented, however historians have yet to come to consensus on
the true cause of the hysteria. Many textbooks and articles detail the Salem Witchcraft trials of
1692, as well as the many theories. A highly respected theory centers around the idea that the
witchcraft was basically people just having hallucinations. As Laurie Carlson states in her argument,
Between 1689 and 1700 the citizens complained of symptoms that included fits, spectral visions,
mental distraction , pinching

Essay about The Spirit In Context
What are the possible points of agreement and points of tension between different religious schools
of thought on the body, in relation to the Holy Spirit? How might Christians respond to these?
Introduction Scripture seems to contradict itself with regard to the human body. Sometimes the
body is seen as precious, for instance in 1 Cor 6:19 30, and sometimes as a hinderance to unity
with Christ, 2 Cor 5:6 8. This seeming ambiguity within scripture has created distinct and
conflicting schools of thought among Christian thinkers regarding the body and spirituality. Some
advocate that the body is an essential part of our spirituality and should be embraced; others that
the body is a hinderance to it, and should be approached with suspicion... Show more content on

Anthony of the Desert, who is considered to be the father of Christian monasticism, is said to
have experienced overwhelming shame at the prospect of food, rest and other bodily needs, so
that he would not be seen taking care of his physical needs by others.5 St Francis of Assisi was
equally undermining of his bodily needs. Even when close to death, he feared that accepting
necessary treatment was an indulgence. It was only at the last minute that he was successfully
persuaded to serve his body by caring for it in the same way that it had cared for him, by which
point it was too late. Dualism continued through the ages in various forms, but was specifically
revived during the Age of Enlightenment, which emphasized science and reason over faith and
tradition. The movement sought to release man from God s authority, resulting in a shift from
Theism to Deism. Secularism took Deism one step further, suggesting that if God does not interact
with mankind and is not near, He is not needed. This perspective unfolded throughout the western
world,

Businesses have also been able to benefit from technology by becoming more efficient and
competitive. Overall, Thailand is still at a developing state, but has come a very long way in the
past decade.
Thailand, a heavily export dependent economy has become a newly industrialized economy and
has been rapidly growing over the past decade. Although the emerging market still relies heavily
on their agriculture sector, being the number one exporter of rice in the world,
telecommunications as well as new types of services are emerging. Their GDP grew 6.5 %( 1) in
2012, and services followed by industry and agriculture make up the top three sectors. They are in
fact the second largest economy in South East Asia after Indonesia, but their GDP per capita is still
relatively low at around 5,000USD.
Over the last several years FDI (foreign direct investment) in Thailand has surged dramatically.
From 2010 to 2012, FDI has grown from 118 billion USD to 159 billion USD (2). Much of the FDI
has been focused on the manufacturing sector, technology companies including Intel and Seagate
Technology are among the many firms. Most of the manufacturing from FDI includes high end
assembly and production. Low end, low cost manufacturing that dominates China and other
regional countries is not the strategy for companies looking to invest in Thailand. Thailand offers
investors a mix of low labor costs and solid public infrastructure. Thailand s public infrastructure is

Review of Ambassadors in Pinstripes:
The Spalding World Baseball Tour and the Birth of the American Empire
Thomas Zeiler, the author of Ambassadors in Pinstripes: the Spalding World Baseball Tour and
the Birth of the American Empire, entertains and enlightens the reader through a descriptive
journey of Albert Spalding s efforts to introduce a World Baseball Tour. The bulk of Zeiler s
book is based off of periodicals, newspapers, magazines, and guides; which serves as the
groundwork for his book. Albert Spalding is known as a leader; a manager of the Chicago White
Stockings, a very successful manufacturer of sporting goods, and predominantly as an organizer of
tours designed to popularize America s national game abroad. Spalding s ... Show more content on

London is currently hosting the Olympics this year and in preparation back in 2009 the event was
predicted to provide economic gold at a time of economic need, however hosting the Olympics is an
extremely costly business with the upgrades, new sports facilities, and security that it will cost
much, much more than expected.
Spalding s World Baseball Tour laid the roots of the new empire and exemplified the United States
onto the world stage. It highlighted our country s economic growth, the search for overseas
markets, improvements in communication and transportation, and the rising cultural interactions.
Thomas Zeiler s main emphasis is on the baseball players and their entourage as tourists who helped
disperse American culture abroad and brought global influences back to their homelands. Thomas
Zeiler concluded that because of the immense impact of the World Tour, it was the process of
globalization of baseball that laid the structure of the growing American identity. Baseball was used
to sell and export the American way. The game associated itself with the values of the American
dream. In America s foreign diplomacy, baseball was used to promote patriotism and nationalism.

Case Analysis Of Colgate Luminous White
Sld9: In 2015 we measured different brands from 2016, so we cannot make a comparison because
the inclusion of new brands for AE makes the distribution of this to affect the percentages of the
remaining brands, making them not comparable.
Sld11: Luminous White and Oral B have similar levels of consideration; given that both brands are
communicating the benefit of Whitening, Luminous must be very striking in its communication. On
the other hand, although Fluocardent is new in the category, it is not new in the Oral Care segment
(New competitor)
Sld12: Listerine is the only brand that surpasses the average of this category; Colgate must work on
improving its proximity if wanting to compete with Listerine.

Colgate Plax has a low brand desire; the communication that it is handling generates no relevance or
closeness to the consumer.
Colgate Luminous White has a trend among Millennials, but its awareness is not so out as to be an

Colgate Luminous White apparently is not seen as an independent brand of Colgate, but as an
additional variety of brand, plus it is seen as an expensive brand and with no difference for the
category.
Sld41:
Colgate Plax and Luminous White have to work on communicating the concept of benefit or
communicating in a more successful way for this to generate more relevance
Colgate Plax has to work into consideration, relevance and closeness, but this has to be achieved by
better communicating the benefit; it has to better manage the benefit regarding germs and bacteria.
Luminous White must better manage its Attitudinal Equity structure; if it focuses its
communication towards Millennials, doing this would be easier (Focus Target to Millennials), in
addition, this variant should work more on brand awareness and then focus on a concept for the

Equality Between Men And Women
The law also prohibits retaliation against an individual who, in good faith, asserts his or her rights
under Title IX or other applicable federal laws and state laws prohibiting illegal discrimination.
Title IX was established around discrimination based on gender in 1972, and promotes equality
between men and women in education. Congress developed Title IX in order to spark the act of
going against sexual discriminationat academic institutes that were federally funded to promote the
participation of women in school sports and to create more programs for student athletes that are
female. It is the federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in schools that receive
federal funding. The law is not only directed towards education, but also towards athletics. Women s
encounter with discrimination based on sex, during participation in sports, created the idea of the
passage of Title IX, which was successful at promoting equality for women through having less
discrimination against women, providing more opportunities for women in sports, and creating
equal treatment in athletics.
While participating in sports, girls and women faced discrimination and prejudice. Women were
told that competing in athletics was not lady like , and you were called names, for example, a
lesbian or tom boy. Women were looked at as physically unattractive and were seen as selfish
because they were not as cooperative as men while on a team. Women had to raise their own
money, wear

  • 5. The Problem Of Induction, Inductive Reasoning, And Weather The problem of induction, inductive reasoning, and weather or not nature is uniform, are questions that have been raised by many a great philosopher. Induction, and Inductive reasoning is when you make observations of past events and occurrences and base your knowledge on those observations. From these observations you make generalizations, the problem with inductive reasoningand the problem with induction is that, your observations generalize and assume, sometimes too much, sometimes on a very limited number of observations which is not necessarily enough to assume that you are in fact right in knowing about a certain thing. Imagine all the swans you had ever seen or heard about were white, and you had never seen or heard of a black swan before. You would then assume and think that there were only such a thing as white swans, and rightly so, but does this mean there is no such thing as a black swan? No, it just means there has not ever been a black swan that you have seen or heard of, but because of inductive reasoning, and your own observations you could make a false claim. The claim that there are only white swans. Inductive reasoning also assumes that because a sequence of events has happened in the past they will again in the future, this is called the uniformity of nature, The sun is an example of this, it rises every day and sets every night, and it has done so since the beginning of time. Therefore, due to the sun rising and setting in the past, due to inductive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Piaget s Theory Of Cognitive Development Essay When talking about human development, we are referring to the growth of humans in all aspects throughout their life. In this essay, I will be discussing two types of human development. Cognitive development, which is to do with the ability to think, remember and reason, and Social development, which involves relationships and interactions in the world around the individual. I will focus on how they relate to two significant experiences in my life and how these experiences were critical to my development as a learner. I will do this by analysing these experiences through Piaget s theory of cognitive developmentincluding key concepts of equilibration, adaptation and former operation cognitive stage, and Bronfenbrenner s bioecological systems theory including key concepts of the microsystem, mesosystem, and macrosystem. Piaget s theory of cognitive development is the theory I will be using to analyse my first significant experience. According to Piaget s theory of cognitive development, during childhood and adolescence, a child constructs an understanding of their environment by organising information into schemas, a schema is basically a group of ideas about an object or an experience. If the individual comes across an inconsistency, or an object or an experience that is unfamiliar, their cognitive balance is upset and they begin to seek cognitive balance, this process of seeking balance is called equilibration. They achieve this equilibration through Adaptation, by either ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Michel Foucault s Theory Of Discipline And Punishment Michel Foucault states in Discipline and Punishment that the Panopticon is a marvelous machine which, whatever use one may wish to put it to, produces homogeneous effects of power (Foucault 188). Examining the evolution, physical characteristics, and psychological effects of the Panopticon allows one to understand the mechanism by which the Panopticonproduces power. Most inventions develop through an evolutionary process while attempting to improve a situation or solve a problem. Often, a prototype precedes a new structure or mechanism. Foucault uses the term projects to describe two historical events and the social responses to resolve the problems associated with these events. He suggests that the Panopticon developed from these two projects, the quarantine of the plague and colonizing the lepers. Foucault describes how the Panopticon developed from a seventeenth century order issued to deal with the scourge of the plague. First, a strict spatial partitioning: the closing of the town and its outlying districts was mandated (Foucault 181). The town was further divided into quarters, streets, and households. A syndic who was in the charge of an intendant supervised each family in their residence. A considerable body of militia and guards at the gate ensured that the magistrate over the town had absolute authority (Foucault 181). Only the syndics, intendants, and guards moved about the streets (Foucault 181). They monitored and reported the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By coding the surveys received by BIMs it enables the company to analyze and interpret the data to draw an informed conclusion. The coding enables the research team to identify mistakes, and outliers, which improves the data s validity (Lockyer, 2004). Americans reacted very negatively to this influx, and their negative sentiments were made apparent in the California Supreme Court s People v. Hall verdict, which rendered Chinese testimony unreliable. Then, in 1882, President Chester Arthur signed the Chinese Exclusion Act, a law that prohibited Chinese laborers from entering the United States (Foner, 651). The U.S. Supreme Court took this into consideration when deciding Zadvydas v. This will be discussed in depth later. But the case was not based on constitutional issues, rather it focused on statutory laws that define the complex procedures for holding and deporting aliens. Before an analysis of the legal reasoning used to decide Zadvydas can be appropriately understood, one must receive a brief overview of exactly how and why this case applies to Attorney General John Ashcroft s ability to indefinitely detain suspected terrorists at Guantanamo Bay. The complication here is that the main focus of this case is not on suspected terrorists, prisoners of war, or any issue of national security regarding deportation of enemies of the state. The largest sinkhole recorded in the state developed near Calera in 1972 and was 325 feet long, 300 feet wide, and 120 feet deep. Northeast Alabama also suffers from earthquakes due to the state s proximity to the Southern Appalachian Seismic Zone that runs along the Appalachian Mountains. The largest earthquake recorded occurred October 1916 at a 5.1 magnitude and spanned multiple states. The second largest earthquake in Alabama occurred October 24, 1997 at a 4.9 magnitude. Most of the state is categorized as argillaceous rocks such as shales, clayey soil, and poorly compacted fills. However, with a few exceptions, the protagonists often end up living happily with their beloved for the rest of their lives. The Lais advocate for situational judgement rather than general condemnation of specific acts, which can be seen through Marie de Frances treatment of sinful heroines. The central female in the lai of Guigemar is a young lady of high birth (46) who is trapped in a tower by her older, jealous husband, Meriaduc. When a wounded Guigemar sails into the harbour (46), she becomes smitten and commits adultery. The young lady and Guigemar are not adulterous for the sake of sexual gratification; they are both tortured by love in a pure and noble form, evidenced later by their pledges to love no one but each other. On the part of the lady, her love for Guigemar is even more virtuous because she is trapped perpetually by a cruel master. They provide an easy way to store large amounts of data in a consistent, non duplicating, and maintainable way to be used by developers for analytical or software use ( Advantages of a relational database , n.d.). However, more and more applications and companies with a tremendous amount of data such as search engines, social networks, and e commerce sites have been requiring a level of speed and scalability that relational databases can not provide ( Why NoSQL? , n.d.). NoSQL is a name given to a quickly growing type of database known as non relational databases, which are being used to store and manage huge amounts of structured, semi structured, and non structured data known as Big Data ( Why NoSQL? n.d.). With the advent of social networks and apps with millions of users, the rate of growth of non structured and semi structured data is exponential, and the value in being able to quickly traverse it, analyze it, and use it for development is also growing quickly (McGuire, Manyika, Chui, 2012). Fundamentally, relational and non relational databases are very different. Whether it is your speed, group size, destination, status, culture, personality, distractions, or sex, one way of the other they manage to have an impact on walking behaviors. Past researchers have indicated that these factors may have an effect on walkingbehaviors and with our observation we put the theories to test. The factors taken into account were genderand group size and their effect on walking speed and interpersonal distance. Earlier research finding have reported that interpersonal distances are influenced by dominance, attraction, age, similarity and gender. Willis (1996) reported in his research that young people are more like to approach one another closer and as people tend to age the more personal space is recorded. A closer more intimate space is seen in opposite sexpairs (Aiello 1987; Crawford and Unger 2000; Hall 1984; Heshka and Nelson 1972). From this finding, researchers conclude that when people interact in closer distances they have an attraction or interpersonal relationship. Dominance, power, and status are also said lead to lower interpersonal distance. Similarities in race, sexual preference, religions are also factors that contribute to a closer interpersonal distance (Bell et al., 2001). According to some researchers negatively toned situations cause larger spatial zones (Strayer and Roberts 1997). Studies suggest that women are more prone to react in ... • 41. Is The Dichotomy In Relation To The Baptism In The Holy... Introduction This paper will compare and evaluate the views of John MacArthur and Keith Warrington, in relation to the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Particularly, focusing on their views as to whether the baptism in the Holy Spirit takes place as a consequence of conversion or subsequently, as a unique experience. Each author s views will be compared and evaluated using other academic sources, with special reference to Biblical evidence. Finally, a clear conclusion from the evaluation process will establish which argument is better founded Biblically. The Initial Argument John MacArthur, a Cessationist, claims that at the moment of salvation all believers are, baptised, indwelt and sealed with the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, MacArthur argues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first part is found in John 20:22 and the second part is found in Acts 2:1 4. Warrington, claims that a partial filling of the Holy Spirit was given in John 20:22, with a fuller filling given in Acts 2:1 4. Furthermore, the first filling resulted in the authority to forgive and to withhold the forgiveness of sins, whilst the second filling resulted in a more permanent indwelling of the Holy Spirit (John 20:23, Acts 2:4). However, MacArthur counters this claim by stating that in John 20:22, the Holy Spirit was not given, but only promised. Evidence for this counterclaim is provided in John 20:26, whereby eight days after this, pledge to be filled with the Holy Spirit, the disciples are found to be locked inside through fear of the Jews. Therefore, the disciples must have lacked the Holy Spirit s manifest power and presence, proving that the Holy Spirit had not yet been given; a view supported by KoМ€stenberger. In order to evaluate Warrington s claim and to bring a conclusion to this argument it is essential to analyse these passages in reference to other scholarly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The accusations toward people who were thought to be witches was on the rise. These would not be the kind of witches a person would think about in today s world, but women and men who were put on trial for witchcraft hysteria, which in turn caused mass hysteria. Following this, in January 1692, nine year old Elizabeth Parris and eleven year old Abigail Williams began having fits. The fits included violent contortions and uncontrollable outbursts of screaming. After a local doctor by the name of William Griggs diagnosed the girls with bewitchment, other girls in the area began to exhibit similar symptoms. After Elizabeth Parris and Abigail Williams both had symptoms of being witches, it spread like wildfire in the community, followed by many others having similar symptoms. As stated by A E networks, a historical archive website, As hysteria spread through the community and beyond into the rest of Massachusetts, a number of others were accused, including Martha Corey and Rebecca Nurse both regarded as upstanding members of church and community and the four year old daughter of Sarah Good. After a while the trials became very overwhelming and concerning to others in the community. The historical events of Salem are documented, however historians have yet to come to consensus on the true cause of the hysteria. Many textbooks and articles detail the Salem Witchcraft trials of 1692, as well as the many theories. A highly respected theory centers around the idea that the witchcraft was basically people just having hallucinations. As Laurie Carlson states in her argument, Between 1689 and 1700 the citizens complained of symptoms that included fits, spectral visions, mental distraction , pinching ... • 43. Essay about The Spirit In Context What are the possible points of agreement and points of tension between different religious schools of thought on the body, in relation to the Holy Spirit? How might Christians respond to these? Introduction Scripture seems to contradict itself with regard to the human body. Sometimes the body is seen as precious, for instance in 1 Cor 6:19 30, and sometimes as a hinderance to unity with Christ, 2 Cor 5:6 8. This seeming ambiguity within scripture has created distinct and conflicting schools of thought among Christian thinkers regarding the body and spirituality. Some advocate that the body is an essential part of our spirituality and should be embraced; others that the body is a hinderance to it, and should be approached with suspicion... Anthony of the Desert, who is considered to be the father of Christian monasticism, is said to have experienced overwhelming shame at the prospect of food, rest and other bodily needs, so that he would not be seen taking care of his physical needs by others.5 St Francis of Assisi was equally undermining of his bodily needs. Even when close to death, he feared that accepting necessary treatment was an indulgence. It was only at the last minute that he was successfully persuaded to serve his body by caring for it in the same way that it had cared for him, by which point it was too late. Dualism continued through the ages in various forms, but was specifically revived during the Age of Enlightenment, which emphasized science and reason over faith and tradition. The movement sought to release man from God s authority, resulting in a shift from Theism to Deism. Secularism took Deism one step further, suggesting that if God does not interact with mankind and is not near, He is not needed. This perspective unfolded throughout the western world, ... Equality Between Men And Women The law also prohibits retaliation against an individual who, in good faith, asserts his or her rights under Title IX or other applicable federal laws and state laws prohibiting illegal discrimination. Title IX was established around discrimination based on gender in 1972, and promotes equality between men and women in education. Congress developed Title IX in order to spark the act of going against sexual discriminationat academic institutes that were federally funded to promote the participation of women in school sports and to create more programs for student athletes that are female. It is the federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in schools that receive federal funding. The law is not only directed towards education, but also towards athletics. Women s encounter with discrimination based on sex, during participation in sports, created the idea of the passage of Title IX, which was successful at promoting equality for women through having less discrimination against women, providing more opportunities for women in sports, and creating equal treatment in athletics. While participating in sports, girls and women faced discrimination and prejudice. Women were told that competing in athletics was not lady like , and you were called names, for example, a lesbian or tom boy.
