Meningitis B Vaccine and Congressman s Possession of...
On the Google News website USA Today released an article written by Oren Fliegelman and Mary
Beth Marklien entitled Princeton U. to Give Students Meningitis B Vaccine. Princeton University has
been in the process of making the meningitis B vaccine available to students and staff members.
Princeton has began this process after a meningitis out break, which infected six students and campus
visitors. The first of the out breaks occurred in march. According to an e mail sent out by campus
officials, the vaccine should be available in December for the first dose, and the second dose available
in February. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention is strongly encouraging all Princeton
students, undergraduate and graduate, living in campus housing to receive a vaccine that protects
against meningitis B. Also, University employees are urged to receive the vaccine, especially if they
have sickle cell disease of other medical conditions that may make them more susceptible to the
disease. Meningococcal, more commonly know as meningitis, is fairly rare. Meningitis can be spread
through kissing, coughing, sharing drinking glasses, and related actions. Physician James Turner
states, Seven cases is a big deal. If my child was at Princeton, I d tell him to get vaccinated. I d take it
very seriously. According to freshman Phillip Powers, people are worried, but are not taking
precautions. Freshman Warren Bein, who expects to get the vaccine states It s better to be safe than
sorry.

Gary Reiner, GE s corporate CIO, later explained We are Web enabling nearly all of the [purchasing]
negotiations process, and we are targeting 100 percent of our transactions on the buy side being done
electronically. On the sell side Reiner also wanted to automate as much as possible, including
providing customer service and order taking. GE had quietly been involved with the Internet years
before the Boca Raton meeting, conducting more purchasing and selling on the Internet than any other
noncomputer manufacturer. For example, within six months after beginning to use the Internet for
purchasing in mid 1996, GE Lighting had reduced its purchasing cycle from 14 to 7 days. It also
reduced its supply prices by 10 to 15 percent because of open bidding on the Internet. In 1997, seven
other GE units began purchasing via the Net. The company even sold the concept to others, including
Boeing and 3M. Polymerland, GE Plastic s distribution arm, began distributing technical
documentation over the Web in 1994. It put its product catalog on the Net in 1995 and in 1997
established a site for sales transactions. Its on line system enables customers to search for product by
name, number, or product characteristics, download product information, verify that the product meets
their specifications, apply for credit, order, track the shipment, and even return merchandise.

The Discovery Of The Pharmacological Class
However, the discovery of the pharmacological class, Statins of which Lipitor and Compound X
belongs, which inhibits HMG CoA reductase, an enzyme which catalyzes the conversion of HMG
CoA to mevalonic acid, an early and rate limiting step in the biosynthesis of cholesterol, has greatly
improved the management of patients of patients with hyperlipidemia (Bertolini et.al.1997).
Lipitor a Statin drug, acts by inhibiting HMG CoA reductase and are used as adjunct therapy to diet to
reduce the risk of MI, stroke, revascularization procedures, angina , non fatal MI, fatal and non fatal
stroke, hospitalization for CHF, reduce elevated total C, apo B, and TG levels, increase HDL C in
adult patients with primary hyperlipidemia and mixed dyslipidemia, reduce total C and LDL C in
patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia and reduce elevated total C and apo B levels
in boys and postmenarchal girls 10 17 years of age with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia
after failing an adequate trial of diet therapy. (Lipitor. 2012)
Lipitor is available in dose strengths ranging from 10mg to 80 mg with the recommended start dose
being 10 to 20 mg once daily. Patients who require large LDL C reductions are recommended to start
at 40 mg once daily. Pediatric starting dose should be 10 mg daily with a maximum recommended
dose of 20 mg daily. (Lipitor. 2012)

The Path of Recovery Is for Everyone
Hardships are terrible but a normal part of everybody s life. No matter what the hardship was or is,
anybody can recover. In the books and movie we have viewed in class, they show issues to the
extreme. When Jeannette escapes the depths of Welch and her parents, her life was smooth sailing
afterwards. When you have a life as traumatizing as hers, It is expected for more struggles to occur
later in life. Not everybody will be as fortunate as her and trot with no regression. Lily ran away from
home with no clue where she was headed, other than a town written on a picture. Liz had drug
addicted parents and no plans on education. She reached a life altering decision and started going to
school again. This lead to her ultimate goal of going to college, and at one of the most profound ones
in the United States. If these three girls can overcome the intense situations they endured, anybody
can. Jeannette was an average girl, brought up in an environment where moving every few weeks was
acceptable. She never had any thing stable in her life, and basically had to raise herself with the help
of her brother and sister. Neither parent was loving or caring in any ways. No matter how big a
struggle, they always had to act as they were living life to the fullest. Jeannette states this by saying
We were always supposed to pretend our life was one long and incredibly fun adventure. (Walls 69.)
When you take a look at the abyss she was able to avoid, it should give you hope and motivate

Analysis Of The Poem Acquainted With The Night By...
The poem Acquainted with the Night by Robert Frost is not simply about a walk being taken on a
rainy night, as one would assume on their first reading. Instead a closer reading of the poem will
reveal to the reader a much darker journey. As the speaker describes his trudge through the city streets,
the reader begins to see that this is far more than a walk through a gloomy night; it is a man s journey
through depression. While Frost s dark poem is written much like a sonnet, having fourteen lines, it is
not a sonnet in the traditional sense, as it follows the terza rima rhyming scheme which is an
interlocking three line rhyme scheme: aba, bcb, cdc, ded, and so on (Meyer, 2012, p. 1673). Terza
rima is made up of tercets woven into a rhyme scheme that requires the end word of the second line in
one tercet to supply the rhyme for the first and third lines in the next tercet, continuing the pattern
until the final stanza or line. Borrowing this rhyme scheme from Dante Alighieri and by utilizing a
few lines a mere fourteen Frost is able to paint a convincing picture to the reader of the true feeling of
depression by using the literary elements of metaphor, imagery, and theme.
Frost uses metaphors in Acquainted with the Night to express the darkness and loneliness that are
familiar feelings for those that suffer with depression. Though the entire poem can be interpreted as a
metaphor for depression, Frost uses individual words and phrases as metaphors as well. In the

What Is The Influence Of The Cosby Show On American Culture
The Cosby show created a deliberately positive image of blacks thus the decision for Claire Huxtable
to be shown as a lawyer and Cliff Huxtable being portrayed as a doctor. When The Cosby show made
its debut in 1984 it was the first television show to show a successful upper middle class black family.
Until that point blacks in television were only portrayed as maids, servants, and janitors. The Cosby
Show introduced Americans to a more realistic image of black Americans that dispelled old
stereotypes that plagued America. The Cosby Show empowered black Americans and instilled a sense
of pride throughout the community. Moreover, if we could have more shows showing affluent black
families like The Cosby Show today it would create a better image of blacks to others and to
themselves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

historically black colleges and universities highlighting universities like Morehouse and Howard by
mentioning them and wearing their paraphernalia during the show. Historically black colleges and
universities grew over twenty four percent from the beginning of The Cosby Show to the end of A

nearly tripled. The Cosby Show showed Americans that it was perfectly normal for blacks to pursue

Queen Elizabeth I
Queen Elizabeth I was the most extraordinary leader in English history. She was born on September 7,
1533 at Greenwich Palace. Her birth was not celebrated; instead it was a bitter failure to her father
King Henry VIII, who was expecting the birth of a son. Her mother was executed for treason not long
after her birth (Jokinen 1). After Henry VIII s third spouse Jane Seymour died; however, Elizabeth
was set back in the order of succession after Edward and Mary by act of parliament. When she came
into power, she had to clean up the mess that was left by her sister Mary s five year reign. Mary had
suddenly changed the national religion from Protestantism to Catholicism, and she was not going to
listen to any objections. She pitilessly hunted down and executed Protestants who refused to convert.
After Elizabeth I took the throne, she switched back to Protestantism and restored religious order in
England (Greenblatt 15). Under Elizabeth, religion and nationality were nearly the same (Greenblatt
19). Her first act as Queen was to form a loyal government: she replaced the Privy Council with
eligible advisors such as nobles, lawyers, and businessmen (Greenblatt 15). Although she had a
fantastic board of advisors, she did not allow them to decide her choices (Alchin 1). Elizabeth was
determined to set up a safe and steady government. During Queen Elizabeth s forty five year reign,
England thrived considerably. Her reign witnessed a large gain in literacy and accomplishments in the

The Impact Of Second Degree Price Discrimination On...
Introduction In general microeconomic theory , Third Degree Price Discrimination is said to be Pareto
inefficient because it reduces consumer surplus (Corts 1998). However, this claim has never been
pervasive than it is in this modern day and age. With fast and ever growing advancement in modern
technology, firms are able to collect, analyse and utilise consumer information to their great advantage
(Liu and Shuai 2016). Armed with this precise knowledge about the consumer, they (firms) can target
any group of consumers they like. This is good news for them, but what about the consumer
surplus/welfare? (Liu and Shuai 2016). This essay discusses the effect of Third Degree Price
Discrimination, aided by an improved information quality on consumer surplus, where technological
advances sped things up. (1) Firstly, it discusses the concept of 3rd degree price discrimination as it
relates to consumer surplus. (2) It then goes on to review a prior literature on 3rd degree price
discrimination and its consequences on consumer surplus therein. This is achieved through a brief, but
thorough analysis of the literature concerning the subject matter and what policies were necessary in
reducing the ensuing effects. (3) Finally, it considers an example at work, tittle What Facebook Knows

practices. In conclusion, it recommends that regulators pay attention on how firms (i.e. Facebook)

The Effects Of Social Media On Teenagers
The Social Media Effect
When you were a teenager, did social media impact your life? If not, it certainly has had an impact on
the teenagers of America today. Social media has been around for a long time. There are many
applications for social media, some of which are Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook. With the rapid
evolution of social media, people believe that social media is impacting teenagers in a negative way.
However, some believe that there are positive effects. The negative effects of social media on
teenagers include poor student performance, lack of sleep, and increased vulnerability. However,
before any of these arguments can be talked about, it is important that people know the history of
social media. The development of social media started in the 1950 s with commercial computers. This
led to the creation of personal computers, which paved the way for the development of e mail. One of
the key developments of social media is the cell phone. They evolved into Iphones, which include
many features such as Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. These allow people to communicate
anywhere at any time. The first recognizable social network using the same definition as today s
Facebook and MySpace sites was SixDegrees.com, launched in 1997. (Amidon Lusted). From this
website, MySpace evolved. Chris DeWolfe and Tom Anderson created MySpace. They wanted this
site to have fewer rules, and they wanted people to communicate and share music. MySpace led to the

Equal Pay Act Of 1964 Essay
There are four Acts passed by Congress that were pivotal for equality in the American workforce.
Until these laws were passed by Congress, people of color and woman suffered grave injustices in the
form of hiring, income, promotion, and termination. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 ended the Jim Crow
laws of the South that promoted segregation and many laws of inequality that plagued the southern
states in America. The Equal Pay Act of 1963 helped establish equal pay for women in the workforce.
The Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978 established litigation for working pregnant women. The
Civil Rights Act of 1991 greater enforced the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and held organization
monetarily responsible for violations of discriminations to minorities. The learning of these important
laws will help an individual better understand their rights as it pertains to employment in the

Theme Of Nature In The Red Pony

Final Paper #6
Discuss Steinbeck s theme of nature and man s place in it in the Red Pony. Use specific
quotes/examples from the story to indicate the points the author is making.
Nature In the Red Pony
Nature ignores human desire. The Red Pony is a short novel that consists four stories of a family
living on a western American ranch. In the book, the central theme is the cycle of life and death. All
four stories center on the phenomenon of nature. The principal issue of The Red Pony is the
exploration of man s complicated relationship with nature. It is presented through Jody s maturation.
For Steinbeck, all life, including human, is bound together. Even though people can occasionally make
decisions and change the circumstances, nature, indeed, is the leader of the whole novel and the world.
The Red Pony is filled with descriptions of natural phenomena weather, animals, and plants reflecting
events in the story. At the beginning of the Gift, Steinbeck emphasizes at daybreak Billy Buck
emerged from the bunkhouse, which shows that people wake up to work when the sun rises and goes
off to rest when the run draws. This indicates that nature controls human. As the story flows,
Steinbeck introduces the environment in the ranch as The Crow ... Show more content on

Essay On Critical Reflection
Part one: Critical Reflection on your team as whole
I believe our group has struggled from the very beginning with being organized. I think some of the
difficulties started with the team strategic plan. The team would have benefited more, from an outline
of information that would be presented during the final speech (Adler, Ronald B., et al., 2013). I think
our organization was lacking the first day we met to work on the team strategic plan. We all pushed off
the meeting because we thought we had more time and as the due date approached we quickly met up
to discuss what needed to be in the strategic plan. Then asked everyone to work on it on their own
time. I don t think this was the most beneficial way to divide tasks. We should have spent more time
doing group work, and not assigned as much individual work (Adler, Ronald B., et al., 2013). I think
we should have used part of the designated meeting times to do group work, that would have been the
most beneficial for our group due to all members of the group having so much going on outside of the
project, that the time would have allowed each of us to have a required/designated time to work on the
project. Allowing for us to get more done, earlier on. I think the anticipation of some members to get
the team strategic plan done also caused them to take on too much responsibility which affected their
stress level and in return affect their quality of work. Also causing us to get a lower grade due to other

Compare And Contrast Gerty In The Lamplighter
True looked at Gerty in perfect wonder and distress. He knew nothing about children, and was
astonished at her simplicity. He could not leave her there, such a cold night; but he hardly knew what
he could do with her if he took her home, for he lived alone, and was poor. But another violent
coughing spell decided him at once to share with her his shelter, fire and food, for one night, at least.
So he took her by the hand, saying Come with me; and Gerty ran along confidently by his side, never
asking whither. Gerty and True s relationship is one unlike any other in the book The Lamplighter.
Gerty went through many torturous foster homes in her life. Her previous foster parents were all
despicable. Eventually, Gerty is brought to home with a woman named Nan Grant. The only good
thing about this home is that every night a man would come around and light the lamps along the
sidewalks. Gerty always looked forward to seeing the lamplighter come by. They first spoke to each
other when Gerty came running back to the house with milk and tripped, resulting in the milk spilling
everywhere. True, the lamplighter, was taken aback by Gerty s appearance but then said, kindly She

does scold you a little. I ll bring you something, tomorrow, that I think you ll like, may be; you re such

Prostitution in Canada ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, even if prostitution is legal for sex trade workers who enter this lifestyle freely and
deliberately, it is important to look at the choice and constraints in the performance of this deviant
activity. Is prostitution a form of sexual deviance, a paid work, or a troubled response to childhood
abuse?
Causes of Women entering Prostitution
Most street prostitutes have common backgrounds; they are women and men who come from the
lower socio economic strata, and who are or were greatly dissatisfied with some aspects of their home
life (Lowman, 1992, p.54).
Research on prostitution shows some basic patterns in the family backgrounds of people involved in
prostitution. Often less than 18 years of age, most have few qualifications for other work. Various
reasons can be invoked as to why young adults turn to prostitution; poverty, mental illness,
homelessness, a history of childhood emotional, physical or sexual abuse.
Troubled childhood
Usually, prostitutes leave home at a very early age (67% of prostitutes enter the profession under the
age of eighteen). The average age of sex workers is 13 years old (Silbert, amp; Pines, 1982, p.122).
However, some are as young as young as 11 years old, as Wayne Chamberlain (1998) notes.

Wetland Research Paper
When most people think of wetlands the first thing that will pop into their mind will be visions of
swamps and flooded plains. These marshy lands would seem to have no purpose, while in reality they
are the most precious form of ecosystem that we have in America. Wetlands contribute to biodiversity,
clean water, flood control, and provide a habitat for millions of species of plants and animals. Even
with all this wetlands still face mass destruction, much like the rain forests they are just as productive
and face similar rates of devastation (Mitchell, J. (1992, October). Our Disappearing Wetlands
National Geographic, Pg 15).

However, appearances may be deceiving. The unique environment of vernal pools provides habitat for
numerous rare plants and animals that are able to survive these harsh conditions. Many of these plants
and animals spend the dry season as seeds, eggs, or cysts, and then grow and reproduce when the
ponds are flooded again. In addition, birds such as egrets, ducks, and hawks use vernal pools as a
seasonal source of food and water (Marshall, 1978).
br
br Prairie potholes are a very beneficial wetland that is home to dozens of migratory waterfowl. They
are found primarily in the Upper Midwest, especially North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and
Minnesota. This formerly glaciated landscape is covered with a vast number of potholes, which fill
with snowmelt and rain in the spring. Some prairie pothole marshes are temporary, while others may
be virtually permanent. Here, as in other marshes, submerged and floating aquatic plants take over the
deeper water; while bulrushes and cattails grow closer to shore, and wet marshes lie next to the
upland. These wetlands are a sort of cousin to vernal pools, sharing the same location, and seasonal
waters. (Marshall, 1978).
br
br Another infamous type of wetland is the bog. These wetlands have for centuries have been
shrouded with mystery. Bogs are known for their ability to produce peat, which is just as valuable as
coal. They also have the ability to preserve things, one such incident in 1987 where a

How Stories Came To Earth, And How Stories Came To Earth
Imagine a world without stories, nothing to read, nothing to learn, and right now you know nothing. In
the story How Stories Came to Earth that was exactly their problem. A long time ago there were no
stories on earth for anyone to tell before the First Spider, Kwaku Anansi came along and spread them
through his webs. Both How Stories Came to Earth and Master Cat are trickster tales, In mythology,
and in the study of folklore and religion, a trickster is a character in a story, which exhibits a great
degree of intellect or secret knowledge, and uses it to play tricks or otherwise disobey normal rules
and conventional behaviour. Between How Stories Came to Earth and Master Cat there are more
differences than similarities.
There are many differences between How Stories Came to Earth and Master Cat . The first difference
is what they re achieving is beneficial or not beneficial to society. For example, in How Stories Came
to Earth, Anansi s goal was to achieve the stories from the sky god, Nyame. Anansi went through a
series of challenges with the help of his wife, Aso, but eventually achieved the goal of getting the
stories, it says in the story, And so, child, stories came to Earth because of the great cunning of Kwaku

society by giving knowledge to everyone. While Master cat is only benefiting himself and his master,

The, Moral, And Moral Relativism
On the perfectionist account there exists an established categorization of the moral status of conscious
persons or beings. The moral perfectionist maintains that morality is hierarchical, which is to say that
they hold that differentially weighted considerations should be given to different beings depending on
the level to which they possess certain characteristics. For example, throughout the history of western
philosophy one of the most popularly touted of the characteristics of higher order moral agents has
been the possession of formal language. Consider, then, the non human animal from this perspective
from a Heideggarian perspective, if you will. According to Heidegger (2001), the Animal does not die;

It is meant to show that animality is the metaphysical candle which casts a shadow over whatever
being is to be made morally incomparable to the Human. To substantiate this claim we can consider
that from the historical perspective, the subjugation of humans from women, slaves, the cognitively
and physically disabled, to the ethnic or religious minority has been accompanied by attempts to
ensure that they are animalized . By attempts to ensure that they are excluded from the moral
community a delegation attributed to their lack of the fundamental features or qualities of moral
agents. Fortunately, though not necessarily consistently, in the Western liberal modernity, such
animalized individuals have come to be afforded the same rights as other members of the human
community, despite their lack of many of the qualities which have typically been used to affirm the
moral importance of a human being. Again, although this is a fortunate transition, it is rather
inconsistent one if we are to reflect on the ways in which we typically distinguish the Animal from the
Human. Indeed, if we are to suggest that all humans have some sort of inherent rights either ascribed
or discovered it does not seem unreasonable to suggest that such possessions must be predicated on
the presence or absence of

The Themes In The Time Machine By H. G. Wells
One night, I heard loud tapping noises, I got up because of the noise and I thought I needed to
investigated. At this point, I m walking up the stairs and I see a large shadow coming from the
window. I slowly walk over to the window and the noise is getting louder. I look up in the window and
I see a person. I look closer and I see it was actually just my dad outside taking a call and the tapping
has from my dog s tail hitting the window, who was outside with him. The Time Machine by H.G.
Wells is about The Time Traveller, who created a time machine and wanted to explore the future.
When he got there, society looked peaceful and great, but after he discovered the morlocks and he
realized society was falling apart in the future. So, he realized he needed to go back to his time and
then the story ends with him joining his friends at dinner. The theme best presented in The Time
Machine by H.G. Wells is that things aren t always what they appear to be.
The theme in The Time Machine is that things aren t always as they seem. First, the text points out
that the world was too perfect to The Time Traveller. According to The Time Machine by H.G. Wells it
states, The too perfect security of the Upper worlders had led them to a slow movement of
degeneration, to a general dwindling in size, strength, and intelligence. This is when The Time
Traveller is describing the world to his audience. This supports that the world up there was too perfect.
This supports the theme because it shows

Respiratory System Of The Respiratory System
The primary system in the human body that allows us to breathe is the Respiratory
System. It is divided into two sections; upper respiratory tract (nasal cavity, nostrils, pharynx, larynx,
and trachea) and lower respiratory tract (lungs, bronchi, alveoli, and diaphragm). The two tracts work
together to allow the absorption of oxygen and the exhale of carbon dioxide when we breathe, this is
the primary function of the entire system. Each organ of the respiratory system plays a vital role in the
success of making sure that our bodies are receiving the necessary air flow. The Respiratory System
consists of three major parts; the airway, the lungs and the muscles of respiration. The airway of the
Respiratory System consists of the nasal cavity, nostril, pharynx, and larynx. The nostril and nasal
cavity s primary function is to filter out the air that is entering the body by blocking any dirt or dust
before it reaches the lungs. It is lined with mucous membrane that moisturizes our nostrils to avoid us
getting nosebleeds and dryness. The pharynx consists of three parts; the nasopharynx, oropharynx, and
the laryngopharynx. Once air is inhaled it passes through the nasopharynx which is located in the back
of the mouth, proceeds down to the oropharynx, and then into the laryngopharynx. There is a separate
flap that covers the area where food is swallowed called the epiglottis. The epiglottis, a part of the
larynx, acts as a cover and works closely between the trachea

John Locke Positive Rights
The premise that the right to life is a positive right simply means that the state has an obligation to
keep people from hurting or infringing others right to life by providing or making something available
to them. Hence, the right to life is a positive right because it needs to be a protected right.
2. John Locke (Natural Rights/Law of Nature): John Locke opposes the premise that the right to life is
a positive right.
A. The argument that Locke advocated was that his Law of Nature governs people and that is allows
all men to live in a state of liberty.

Social Action At The Lower East Side Tenement Museum
Case study 3: Social action at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum
Ruth J. Abram, who wanted to create a museum centered upon an experience common to the majority
of Americans, founded the Lower East Side Tenement Museum. Abram believed that the immigrant
experience was something that diverse groups of people could relate to and unite together on, moving
Americans to participate in a national conversation with similarly situated, contemporary immigrants
and other outsiders (Abram 2005:21). As we can see, Abram has been dedicated from the start to civic
engagement through community collaboration.
Abram continually ensures that the museum has the resources and insight needed for community
engagement. This is done in several ways. For instance, Abram and the Board of Trustees are
committed to ensuring that there is funding for not only the various programs the museum engage in,
but also for the staff s needs. They are committed to having a diverse and inclusive team, comprised of
individuals from multiple backgrounds. Furthermore, they have 32 full time staff positions and 30 part
time docents (Abram 2005). It is this kind of commitment that has contributed to successful and
sustainable community collaboration. Staff members often speak more than one language and have
experienced many of the same issues that past and present immigrants have faced such as welfare
(Abram 2005). This brings in diverse experiences and stories into the museum space.

Reflection Of The Brain
By far, the most interesting concept that I have ever come across in my life is the brain. The brain is a
an array of complexities involving lobes, such as the frontal and temporal, that have different
functions and control a different part of a human s life. I think that the more one digs deeper into the
way that the brain works, the more one begins to realize just how many things can go wrong in the
brain which can lead to a lifetime of devastation. Looking at the bigger picture, I think that I am more
than honored to work in any research project that involves anything remotely related to the
neuroscience because I am always looking for ways to expand my knowledge about the brain and
essentially the nervous system in general. To be specific, I am interested in how to handle any
dementia related diseases such as Alzheimer s or Parkinson s, since I think that these diseases along
with diseases such as Huntington s affects a lot of people nationwide, and focusing research on
neuroscience diseases in general will help and impact many individuals worldwide. Going into more
detail, I would like to research what kind of mechanisms or biotechnology we can use in order to alert
future patients of their future risk for these neuroscience diseases. For example, maybe the percentage
of the time they stay in REM sleep might help with the configuration of a formula that can be
generated into an app that tracks on sleeps states and combined with their genetic disposition, science
will be able to determine their risk for Alzheimer s and so on. In addition, I would like to seek a
research project that kind of nails down the diagnostic stage of Alzheimer s. Currently, there is
research out there that talk about the buildup of plaque but there also counter arguments that state how
80 years olds present with this plaque do not even show the slightest symptoms of dementia which
counters what modern medicine is saying about the plaques being linked to Alzheimer s. I think that if
we had a hard set on what the official diagnosis for Alzheimer s, Parkinson s, Huntington s, or any
neurological disease for that matter, it would be beneficial to the world at large. Diverting away from
neuroscience, I am also interested in the

Introduction For this Business Strategy Report, I have selected a restaurant chain named Nando s. It
was established in 1987 by two friends, Fernando Duarte and Robert Brozin (Nando s.com, 2017).
Although being a South African brand it has Portuguese influence and the restaurant chain depicts
these designs. Nando s specialty is flame grilled chicken spiced with their unique selection of
marinade sauces and spices ranging from mild to extra hot and for those individuals not into the hot
stuff, there s a lemon and herb option. It also has other selected food options to choose from in their
attractive menu. Its niche market is working middle class male and female customers who enjoy spicy
food and casual dining. It also caters for kids and families. Analysis of Nando s For a business to be
successful and have a competitive advantage, it is important to evaluate the company s resources and
capabilities (Pitt Koufopoulos, 2012). Resources in a company are the productive assets owned

incorporating a Kort nozzle, extensively automated navigation and power control systems, and much

However, the new vessel should be able to handle a larger load on some routes, which could generate

Examples Of The Crucible And The Columbine Shootings
We Cannot (E)scapegoat What Happened The mainstream media is constantly being blamed for
crimes that people themselves commit. In The Crucible, a group of girls were caught dancing in the
woods by Reverend Parris. This was thought of as a sin and the girls used their overly religious
society to their advantage by blaming their actions on witches. The Columbine shooting was a tragic
event that brought high school safety into a new light. Both of the seniors committing the crime killed
themselves before they could be questioned, causing the terrified public to blame the incident on the
media, specifically Marilyn Manson. While The Crucible and the Columbine shootings are similar in
people standing up for incoherent children and deaths for selfish reasons, they are also very different.
Children in high school were killed in the Columbine shooting while adults were killed in The
Crucible and the who was targeted. A scapegoat, by definition is, A person who is blamed for the
wrongdoings, mistakes, or faults of others, especially for reasons of expediency (Oxford dictionary).
The Crucible is easily one of the greatest examples of a scapegoat. The town was completely prepared
to blame witches for the girls actions. The Columbine shooting blamed Marilyn Manson, a man
known for his outlandish dress and style. On April 20th, 1999, two students murdered 12 teachers and
students in cold blood. These two seniors, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, committed suicide before
incredulous government officials were able to ask them why. The public standing up for incoherent
children was one of the interchangeable qualities brought forth in these stories. People were killed
because the public was oblivious and not paying attention to what these kids were calling out. The two
criminals, guilty of the Columbine massacre, were social outcasts. Dylan Klebold, one of the two
seniors, was clinically depressed and was prepared to commit suicide. They had gotten arrested
previously for breaking into a van, and spend the rest of that year trying to convince everyone they
were sorry. Both of the teenagers were openly hateful as well. Eric Harris wrote in his journal, You

Williams provides a contrast between society s idea of what their lives and personalities are like,

The Is An Ancient One, Dating Back Well Before The Time Of...
Records show that the practice of grafting is an ancient one, dating back well before the time of Christ
It was once believed that any plant could be grafted on any other. This probably arose from
observations made in tropical areas where seeds sometimes lodged in the cleft of a tree where seeds
germinated and grew in the organic matter that had accumulated there. However, today, we know that
only very closely related plants are capable of being grafted. Many forms of grafting are practiced,
and the technique known as budding is widely used in the production of fruit trees, roses, and
ornamental trees and shrubs. Without the practice of grafting many of the popular varieties we know
today, such as the Delicious Apple or the Peace Rose, could not have been maintained. Wrong was the
man who wrote in 1889: We doubt if there is a greater nuisance in the whole practice of gardening
than the art of grafting. It is very clever, it is very interesting, but it will be no great loss if it is
abolished altogether. While the technique of budding generally works best during June, July and
August, many other forms of grafting are done just before plants begin new growth and are still
dormant. Three terms are important in any discussion of grafting: stock, scion, and cambium. The
stock is the rooted lower portion of a plant on which the graft is to be made. The scion is the shoot,
bud or piece of twig to be fastened on the stock. Most important of all is the cambium, a thin layer of

is a good career choice because with technology changing everyday, people need someone that can
protect their company from the dangers of unethical hacking. Technology provides an easier but
riskier way of doing business. Shopping over public wifi is beneficial but all good things come with
negative outcomes. Shopping over public wifi hackers setting up rogue AP s to steal information so

People who made car payments through AutoNation risked their information being compromised.
Hackers were able to get fraudulent software on their systems. All because security wasn t checked by
a Pentester. Now they have one but it was too late for their current customers. AutoNation no longer
uses Trademotion systems because of this incident and all customers affected by the breach we gave a
free year of identity protection. Investing online is a great convenience to the people and there isn t a
real problem with hackers inside the system mainly hackers making phishing websites where you are
prompted to the login screen of the investment company of your choice and when you attempt to log
on to your account you get an error message and they get your password. Which is normally sent to
them through an email. Investment companies should steadily remind people to double check websites
and pay close attention to emails, and also keep their antivirus software up to date (Cyber). Companies
who hire Pentesters gain all kinds of benefits such as being able to intelligently manage
vulnerabilities. Penetration testing provides detailed information on actual, exploitable security
threats. By performing a penetration test, you can proactively identify which vulnerabilities are most
critical, which are less significant, and which are false positives (Penetration). This allows your

African Americans And African American History
As African Americans we need to know the history of our ancestors in order to make the next
generation better. African Americans need to know the struggles and hardships that our ancestors had
to go through that pave the way for my generation and the generations after me. It is important to
know how our ancestors had to endure slavery. If the older generation does not continue to pay
homage to the history of our ancestors, the younger generation will lose sight of what our ancestors
have been through (Roberts, 2011). The younger generation is not interested in African American
History. It is about what someone can do for them. The younger generation wants everything handed
to them not to work for it because the younger generation thinks the world owe them something. The
younger generation does not have respect for their elders now. As African Americans we should not
forget the segregation and the hanging and deaths of African Americans because of the color of their
skin. It is also important because racism still exist today (Roberts, 2011). There are still racist white
people that do not want the world to change (Roberts, 2011). There are some white people that want to
go back to slavery because white people think African Americans are not worthy (Roberts, 2011).
White people do not want African Americans to know about their history because there were
intelligent African Americans that were inventors. Some examples of African American inventors are:
Garrett Morgan invented

Wernicke s Aphasia Disorder Essay
Wernicke s Aphasia
Wernicke s Aphasia
Background
Aphasia can be defined as a disorder that is caused by damage to parts of the brain that are responsible
for language ( Aphasia n.p.). Wernicke s aphasia is a type of fluent aphasia (with the other type being
nonfluent). It is named after Carl Wernicke who described the disorder as an amnesiac disorder
characterized by fluent but disordered speech, with a similar disorder in writing, and impaired
understanding of oral speech and reading ( Wernicke s n.p.). Wernicke s aphasia can also be known as
sensory aphasia, fluent aphasia, or receptive aphasia. It is a type of aphasia that is caused by damage
to Wernicke s area in the brain, in the posterior part of the temporal lobe of the ... Show more content

Because Wernicke s aphasia is most often brought on by a stroke, this disorder is mostly prevalent in
the elderly, however it can be found among children. Men and women are equally affected by
Wernicke s aphasia. About 80,000 people get aphasia each year as a result of strokes, and it is believed
that about one million people in the United States currently suffer from aphasia ( aphasia n.p.).
Prognosis
Wernicke s aphasia results not in a loss of speech, but in a loss of speech content. Someone with a less
severe form of Wernicke s aphasia may only insert a few incorrect or nonexistent words into their
speech, while someone with a severe form may ramble on, using only jargon, meaningless or
irrelevant speech with typical intonational patterns. The rate, intonation, articulation, and stress of
speech remain normal and unaffected ( Types n.p.). Comprehension and expression of speech tend to
be impaired equally. If one ignores the content, the speech of a patient with Wernicke s aphasia would
seem normal. They speak in long, well formed sentences, however they contain little to no real
meaning (McCaffrey n.p.) Speech often includes verbal, literal, and neologistic paraphasias. Verbal
paraphasias include substituting words that can be related to each other, for example, knife for fork.
Literal paraphasias include made up words that have similar sounding syllables, for example, bife for
knife.

  • 2. Meningitis B Vaccine and Congressman s Possession of... On the Google News website USA Today released an article written by Oren Fliegelman and Mary Beth Marklien entitled Princeton U. to Give Students Meningitis B Vaccine. Princeton University has been in the process of making the meningitis B vaccine available to students and staff members. Princeton has began this process after a meningitis out break, which infected six students and campus visitors. The first of the out breaks occurred in march. • 6. Analysis Of The Poem Acquainted With The Night By... The poem Acquainted with the Night by Robert Frost is not simply about a walk being taken on a rainy night, as one would assume on their first reading. Instead a closer reading of the poem will reveal to the reader a much darker journey. As the speaker describes his trudge through the city streets, the reader begins to see that this is far more than a walk through a gloomy night; it is a man s journey through depression. While Frost s dark poem is written much like a sonnet, having fourteen lines, it is not a sonnet in the traditional sense, as it follows the terza rima rhyming scheme which is an interlocking three line rhyme scheme: aba, bcb, cdc, ded, and so on (Meyer, 2012, p. 1673). Terza rima is made up of tercets woven into a rhyme scheme that requires the end word of the second line in one tercet to supply the rhyme for the first and third lines in the next tercet, continuing the pattern until the final stanza or line. Borrowing this rhyme scheme from Dante Alighieri and by utilizing a few lines a mere fourteen Frost is able to paint a convincing picture to the reader of the true feeling of depression by using the literary elements of metaphor, imagery, and theme. Frost uses metaphors in Acquainted with the Night to express the darkness and loneliness that are familiar feelings for those that suffer with depression. Though the entire poem can be interpreted as a metaphor for depression, Frost uses individual words and phrases as metaphors as well. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Her birth was not celebrated; instead it was a bitter failure to her father King Henry VIII, who was expecting the birth of a son. Her mother was executed for treason not long after her birth (Jokinen 1). After Henry VIII s third spouse Jane Seymour died; however, Elizabeth was set back in the order of succession after Edward and Mary by act of parliament. When she came into power, she had to clean up the mess that was left by her sister Mary s five year reign. Mary had suddenly changed the national religion from Protestantism to Catholicism, and she was not going to listen to any objections. She pitilessly hunted down and executed Protestants who refused to convert. After Elizabeth I took the throne, she switched back to Protestantism and restored religious order in England (Greenblatt 15). Under Elizabeth, religion and nationality were nearly the same (Greenblatt 19). Her first act as Queen was to form a loyal government: she replaced the Privy Council with eligible advisors such as nobles, lawyers, and businessmen (Greenblatt 15). Although she had a fantastic board of advisors, she did not allow them to decide her choices (Alchin 1). Elizabeth was determined to set up a safe and steady government. With fast and ever growing advancement in modern technology, firms are able to collect, analyse and utilise consumer information to their great advantage (Liu and Shuai 2016). Armed with this precise knowledge about the consumer, they (firms) can target any group of consumers they like. This is good news for them, but what about the consumer surplus/welfare? The development of social media started in the 1950 s with commercial computers. This led to the creation of personal computers, which paved the way for the development of e mail. One of the key developments of social media is the cell phone. They evolved into Iphones, which include many features such as Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. I think some of the difficulties started with the team strategic plan. The team would have benefited more, from an outline of information that would be presented during the final speech (Adler, Ronald B., et al., 2013). I think our organization was lacking the first day we met to work on the team strategic plan. We all pushed off the meeting because we thought we had more time and as the due date approached we quickly met up to discuss what needed to be in the strategic plan. Then asked everyone to work on it on their own time. I don t think this was the most beneficial way to divide tasks. We should have spent more time doing group work, and not assigned as much individual work (Adler, Ronald B., et al., 2013). I think we should have used part of the designated meeting times to do group work, that would have been the most beneficial for our group due to all members of the group having so much going on outside of the project, that the time would have allowed each of us to have a required/designated time to work on the project. Allowing for us to get more done, earlier on. Here, as in other marshes, submerged and floating aquatic plants take over the deeper water; while bulrushes and cattails grow closer to shore, and wet marshes lie next to the upland. These wetlands are a sort of cousin to vernal pools, sharing the same location, and seasonal waters. (Marshall, 1978). br br Another infamous type of wetland is the bog. The moral perfectionist maintains that morality is hierarchical, which is to say that they hold that differentially weighted considerations should be given to different beings depending on the level to which they possess certain characteristics. For example, throughout the history of western philosophy one of the most popularly touted of the characteristics of higher order moral agents has been the possession of formal language. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is meant to show that animality is the metaphysical candle which casts a shadow over whatever being is to be made morally incomparable to the Human. To substantiate this claim we can consider that from the historical perspective, the subjugation of humans from women, slaves, the cognitively and physically disabled, to the ethnic or religious minority has been accompanied by attempts to ensure that they are animalized . By attempts to ensure that they are excluded from the moral community a delegation attributed to their lack of the fundamental features or qualities of moral agents. Fortunately, though not necessarily consistently, in the Western liberal modernity, such animalized individuals have come to be afforded the same rights as other members of the human community, despite their lack of many of the qualities which have typically been used to affirm the moral importance of a human being. Again, although this is a fortunate transition, it is rather inconsistent one if we are to reflect on the ways in which we typically distinguish the Animal from the Human. Indeed, if we are to suggest that all humans have some sort of inherent rights either ascribed or discovered it does not seem unreasonable to suggest that such possessions must be predicated on the presence or absence of ... • 28. Respiratory System Of The Respiratory System The primary system in the human body that allows us to breathe is the Respiratory System. It is divided into two sections; upper respiratory tract (nasal cavity, nostrils, pharynx, larynx, and trachea) and lower respiratory tract (lungs, bronchi, alveoli, and diaphragm). The two tracts work together to allow the absorption of oxygen and the exhale of carbon dioxide when we breathe, this is the primary function of the entire system. Each organ of the respiratory system plays a vital role in the success of making sure that our bodies are receiving the necessary air flow. The Respiratory System consists of three major parts; the airway, the lungs and the muscles of respiration. The airway of the Respiratory System consists of the nasal cavity, nostril, pharynx, and larynx. The nostril and nasal cavity s primary function is to filter out the air that is entering the body by blocking any dirt or dust before it reaches the lungs. It is lined with mucous membrane that moisturizes our nostrils to avoid us getting nosebleeds and dryness. The pharynx consists of three parts; the nasopharynx, oropharynx, and the laryngopharynx. Once air is inhaled it passes through the nasopharynx which is located in the back of the mouth, proceeds down to the oropharynx, and then into the laryngopharynx. Abram, who wanted to create a museum centered upon an experience common to the majority of Americans, founded the Lower East Side Tenement Museum. Abram believed that the immigrant experience was something that diverse groups of people could relate to and unite together on, moving Americans to participate in a national conversation with similarly situated, contemporary immigrants and other outsiders (Abram 2005:21). As we can see, Abram has been dedicated from the start to civic engagement through community collaboration. Abram continually ensures that the museum has the resources and insight needed for community engagement. This is done in several ways. For instance, Abram and the Board of Trustees are committed to ensuring that there is funding for not only the various programs the museum engage in, but also for the staff s needs. They are committed to having a diverse and inclusive team, comprised of individuals from multiple backgrounds. Furthermore, they have 32 full time staff positions and 30 part time docents (Abram 2005). It is this kind of commitment that has contributed to successful and sustainable community collaboration. I think that the more one digs deeper into the way that the brain works, the more one begins to realize just how many things can go wrong in the brain which can lead to a lifetime of devastation. Looking at the bigger picture, I think that I am more than honored to work in any research project that involves anything remotely related to the neuroscience because I am always looking for ways to expand my knowledge about the brain and essentially the nervous system in general. To be specific, I am interested in how to handle any dementia related diseases such as Alzheimer s or Parkinson s, since I think that these diseases along with diseases such as Huntington s affects a lot of people nationwide, and focusing research on neuroscience diseases in general will help and impact many individuals worldwide. Going into more detail, I would like to research what kind of mechanisms or biotechnology we can use in order to alert future patients of their future risk for these neuroscience diseases. For example, maybe the percentage of the time they stay in REM sleep might help with the configuration of a formula that can be generated into an app that tracks on sleeps states and combined with their genetic disposition, science will be able to determine their risk for Alzheimer s and so on. In addition, I would like to seek a research project that kind of nails down the diagnostic stage of Alzheimer s. Currently, there is research out there that talk about the buildup of plaque but there also counter arguments that state how 80 years olds present with this plaque do not even show the slightest symptoms of dementia which counters what modern medicine is saying about the plaques being linked to Alzheimer s. • 38. Examples Of The Crucible And The Columbine Shootings We Cannot (E)scapegoat What Happened The mainstream media is constantly being blamed for crimes that people themselves commit. In The Crucible, a group of girls were caught dancing in the woods by Reverend Parris. This was thought of as a sin and the girls used their overly religious society to their advantage by blaming their actions on witches. The Columbine shooting was a tragic event that brought high school safety into a new light. Both of the seniors committing the crime killed themselves before they could be questioned, causing the terrified public to blame the incident on the media, specifically Marilyn Manson. While The Crucible and the Columbine shootings are similar in people standing up for incoherent children and deaths for selfish reasons, they are also very different. Children in high school were killed in the Columbine shooting while adults were killed in The Crucible and the who was targeted. A scapegoat, by definition is, A person who is blamed for the wrongdoings, mistakes, or faults of others, especially for reasons of expediency (Oxford dictionary). The Crucible is easily one of the greatest examples of a scapegoat. The town was completely prepared to blame witches for the girls actions. The Columbine shooting blamed Marilyn Manson, a man known for his outlandish dress and style. On April 20th, 1999, two students murdered 12 teachers and students in cold blood. These two seniors, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, committed suicide before incredulous government officials were able to ask them why. The public standing up for incoherent children was one of the interchangeable qualities brought forth in these stories. People were killed because the public was oblivious and not paying attention to what these kids were calling out. The two criminals, guilty of the Columbine massacre, were social outcasts. Dylan Klebold, one of the two seniors, was clinically depressed and was prepared to commit suicide. • 41. The Is An Ancient One, Dating Back Well Before The Time Of... Records show that the practice of grafting is an ancient one, dating back well before the time of Christ It was once believed that any plant could be grafted on any other. This probably arose from observations made in tropical areas where seeds sometimes lodged in the cleft of a tree where seeds germinated and grew in the organic matter that had accumulated there. However, today, we know that only very closely related plants are capable of being grafted. Many forms of grafting are practiced, and the technique known as budding is widely used in the production of fruit trees, roses, and ornamental trees and shrubs. Without the practice of grafting many of the popular varieties we know today, such as the Delicious Apple or the Peace Rose, could not have been maintained. Wrong was the man who wrote in 1889: We doubt if there is a greater nuisance in the whole practice of gardening than the art of grafting. It is very clever, it is very interesting, but it will be no great loss if it is abolished altogether. While the technique of budding generally works best during June, July and August, many other forms of grafting are done just before plants begin new growth and are still dormant. Three terms are important in any discussion of grafting: stock, scion, and cambium. The stock is the rooted lower portion of a plant on which the graft is to be made. The scion is the shoot, bud or piece of twig to be fastened on the stock. Most important of all is the cambium, a thin layer of pale ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Prognosis Wernicke s aphasia results not in a loss of speech, but in a loss of speech content. Someone with a less severe form of Wernicke s aphasia may only insert a few incorrect or nonexistent words into their speech, while someone with a severe form may ramble on, using only jargon, meaningless or irrelevant speech with typical intonational patterns. The rate, intonation, articulation, and stress of speech remain normal and unaffected ( Types n.p.). Comprehension and expression of speech tend to be impaired equally. If one ignores the content, the speech of a patient with Wernicke s aphasia would seem normal. They speak in long, well formed sentences, however they contain little to no real meaning (McCaffrey n.p.) Speech often includes verbal, literal, and neologistic paraphasias. Verbal paraphasias include substituting words that can be related to each other, for example, knife for fork. Literal paraphasias include made up words that have similar sounding syllables, for example, bife for knife. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
