Descriptive Essay About Mamaw s House
A majority of my favorite days were spent at Mamaw s house. When I think about that rustic white
house sitting in the middle of that vast farm, I think of it as a place where I am myself, and it is a place
where my family and I create the most fun filled memories. Mamaw s house has been the setting of
quite a few hilarious and heartwarming stories over the years. Ever since my family had bought the
farm, it has been our family gathering place. Mamaw s house hosts anything from birthday parties to
Thanksgiving dinners to family reunions. Out of all the precious memories I have from that house,
there are a few that are especially near and dear to my heart.
When all of my family from Louisville is at my Mamaw s house, it is very likely that ... Show more

The warm, summer air s aroma was a mix of fresh grass, flowers, and dog. Mom and I went inside to
cook the pizzas while we were waiting for my sister, brother in law, niece, nephew, aunt, and uncle.
After everyone arrived, my nephew and I went outside to set up our chairs and see if the moon had
concealed the sun at all. WOW! , my nephew said as we both looked at the sun to see a little chunk of
it being covered. Later on, when all of us were outside looking to the sky as totality approached, my
brother in law pulled my chair out from under me. As I was about to sit down in my chair, I glanced
over to him and saw him sitting in my chair! I tried to sit down, but instead I fell to the ground.
Everyone started busting out laughing like a pack of hyenas, including me. I sat on the ground for a
moment admiring my surroundings. The sky was a light, denim blue with a slight orange cast along
the horizon; the lighting outside had shifted from bright to a candlelight glow. Because I had fell, I
missed the corona and diamond ring phase of the solar eclipse. However, I still enjoyed the once in a
lifetime experience with my family, even though I missed the most beautiful part of the eclipse. When
I m older, I ll look back and cherish thprecious family moments that helped me realize just how
important family is. As mentioned earlier, when my aunt, uncle, and cousins drive down from
Louisville, my entire family gathers at my Mamaw s house. When my cousin

Mythological Archetypes
Mythological archetypes are the elements of which myths develop. A Scheme according to which a
model of myth is collected from an archetypal constructor is universal and is called monomyth.
(reference) But as actors change in different mythological histories, circumstances, then the variety of
details of narration became very bright and can be seen instantly, and the similarity of the canvas
remains unnoticed. According to Jung, the archetypes evolved in the course of evolution like internal
organs. Invisible to the eye, they are always with us, but as psychic organs. Archetypes are imprinted
in culture, art, and religion. Mythological heroes during their journey behind the quest for treasure
acquire friends and enemies. These fictional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And while Melkor is in captivity, everything seems to be in order, and life naturally goes on as usual.
However, when Melkor is freed Shadow goes out control. And Shadow begins to try to subordinate
the influence of the elves. Especially unstable to her is Feanor. This is the beginning, the properties of
which are creativity, impatience, a beginning that generates everything new and beautiful (it is no
accident that Feanor surpasses all other elves by his creativity and skills.) and at the same time the
most unstable of all beginnings. Feanor created the Silmarilles by touching the Self, however, as an
Eternal Child, he himself is the original, original Self, and the Silmarilles is his continuation, being the
Self. In this sense, it is not accidental that he says that by destroying the Silmarilles, he will kill
himself both are the Self, and the destruction of one will cause the destruction of the other.
And as an Eternal Child, Feanor is impulsive. He does not want to wait, and this causes all his harsh
decisions that led to such tragedies. He is lonely because he has lost his beloved mother, and this place
in his psyche is empty in fact, he is not an integral personality, because he has not developed Anima

What We Must Do To Survive Tadeusz Borowski short story Ladies and Gentlemen to the Gas
Chamber , is a compelling story based on Tadeusz Borowski own experiences at Auschwitz
Concentration Camp. This horrific account at Auschwitz is described though the eyes of a narrator and
Henri, one of the forced residents of Auschwitz from Poland. Through the story we see that the
narrator and Henri do whatever it takes in order to survive and live a decent life while they are forced
to stay at Auschwitz. The narrator and Henri are inmates Auschwitz who have the task of unloading
rail cars filled with people and all of their belongings. As we relive the experiences, we will compare

A whip flies, the woman scream, stumbles, and falls. The narrator even states, I don t know why, but I
am furious, simply furious with these people furious because I must be here because of them. I feel no

also because the easiest way to relieve your hate is to turn against someone weaker. Glimpses of true
beauty, dignity, and humanity show periodically within the camp. The narrator even refers to the camp
as being a heaven of peace... Suddenly I see the camp as a haven of peace. It is true, other may be
dying, but one is somehow still alive, one has enough food, enough strength to work .... The narrator is
also touched and surprised as suddenly, above the teeming crowd pushing forward like a river driven

Biography Of Dentro De Nuestras De Diarias

Vitamin E Clottes
Nuts, such as walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds are a good source of unsaturated fats, Omega 3 fatty acids,
fiber, vitamin E, plant sterols, and L arginine. Omega 3 fatty acids can aid in preventing dangerous
heart rhythms that can affect the cardiovascular health. Fiber makes you full faster so there is a less
need to eat which can help play a role in preventing type 2 diabetes. Vitamin E has the potential to
help stop the formation of plaque build up in the arteries which would otherwise build up in the
arteries and cause chest pain, coronary artery disease and cardiovascular issues. Plant sterols can
generally help lower cholesterol by reducing plasma low density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, which
lowers cardiovascular risk. L arginine can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) consumption has high nutritional quality with its particular composition
of fatty acids, vitamins and polyphenols. The beneficial effects of EVOO have been associated with its
fatty acid composition, which is very rich in monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA), and also has
moderate amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA). EVOO is also composed of certain
polyphenols, similar to antioxidants, which can fight against oxidative stress and could fight against
aging related diseases like heart disease, high blood pressure and cholesterol, including CVD. As
mentioned before, Vitamin E can help prevent clogged arteries which can lead to coronary heart
disease and cardiovascular issues. Vitamin K has the ability to reduce calcium deposits and coronary
artery calcification which would otherwise lead to CVD. Monounsaturated fats can help reduce bad
cholesterol levels in your blood which can lower your risk of heart disease. Polyunsaturated fats have
the same benefits that monounsaturated fats do, because they can also lower bad cholesterol and lower
the risk of heart

The Effects of the Earquake in Japan Essay
Key Questions 1. Highlight, in the form of a list of key items, the critical issues relating to the
disruptions of operations of industry in japan and the country s partners globally. Toyota suffer drop in
global market share along side Japanese rivals Honda and Nissan. The Japanese carmakers lost a huge
4.5% all together. Due to the earthquake Japanese suppliers in northeastern Japan were not able to
supply any critical parts or raw materials to the Japanese car manufacturers. Toyota had a shortage of
30 components in 2011, which is not even comparable to the 500 parts they were missing just after the
earthquake. Even though the figures were decreased significantly, Toyota is not able to manufacture

It is generally a negative occasion, which a business tries to create a plan B for. Anything out of the
blue disturbs an organization s normal operation can hurt the organization regardless of the fact that
the disturbance is a direct result of a Boom. That is the reason organizations make contingency plans
for some possible circumstances, so organization administration has contingency plan to quickly
implement shortly after. Natural disasters are sudden impacts to the business yet if japan has a history
with natural disasters the organization must be in possession of a contingency plan. (d) Disruptions to
electricity supply A disruption of electricity leads to a blackout, which results in no production at all
which can risk losing a lot of revenue instead of generating it. Directly after electricity blackout it won
t be possible to buy any goods without cash due to no electric payments. A second possibility
disruption to the Japanese car makers cannot operate producing thus this creates less chances for
productivity in the factory. In this case perhaps the suppliers in northeastern japan were not able to
produce and export raw materials or critical parts to global partners leading to a break in supply chain
between manufacturers and suppliers. This could be a major reason why the Japanese restore their
factories and set up shop elsewhere to re position the business it self in the market. A solution to this
could be changing time schedules of workers to

Argumentative Essay Smoking
The numbers of people who smoke have increased over the years. Although they are equipped with
the knowledge of how unhealthy smoking can be, people still choose to smoke. It is a personal choice
and a highly addictive habit. Smokers choose to subject themselves to the health risks of smoking. It is
not for the government or any third party to dictate whether or not a person should be allowed to
smoke. However, smoking does not only affect the smoker negatively. It also affects all the people
around those who smoke because when people smoke in public the smoke travels everywhere through
the air, and the negative effects of the smoke affects all living, breathing creatures. Therefore smoking
should be banned in all public places.
People who smoke in public portray a bad example. Children are easily influenced in their growing
stages. They imitate the people around them because they cannot differentiate between right and
wrong. Therefore they perceive the actions they see around them as the way thing should be. Besides
that, teenagers who see people smoke in public take it as precedent to start smoking as well. There is a
saying that goes monkey see monkey do , which tells us that people imitate the actions of others as
they see it in their daily lives. Teenagers happen to think that smoking makes a person cool . When
they see adults doing it on the streets, it strengthens their belief in the coolness of smoking. Some
teenagers think that smoking marks their transition

The Symbolism Of The Conch

The Symbolism of the Conch
For centuries philosophers, have debated the question of whether man is naturally evil. William
Golding poses this question in his novel Lord of the Flies. Set on a tropical island during World War
II, the novel begins when schoolboys from Great Britain are being flown to safety and their plane is
shot down. No adults survive, and the boys are left to control themselves and get rescued. The boys
find a conch, which is a symbol of power and authority to whoever has it in his possession. William
Golding uses symbolism in the form of the conch to represent the concept of society. Throughout the
course of the novel, the boys developing relationship with the conch ... Show more content on

When the boys first start a fire on top of the mountain, Piggy holds the conch and attempts to speak.
But Jack scolds him by saying, The conch doesn t count on top of the mountain, so you shut up
(Golding 39). Boys like Jack begin to place restrictions on the conch and lose respect for it and for one
another. Then one day at an assembly, Jack places even less importance on the conch excluding more
of the boys and weakening the equal order and authority that the conch provides. Jack says, We don t
need the conch anymore. We know who ought to say things...It s time some people knew they ve got
to keep quiet and leave deciding things to the rest of us (Golding 92). Jack s statement here clearly
connects the end of the conch to a change in the social order. Jack is slowly becoming a power hungry
dictator, and the orderly influence of the conch is replaced by man s evil desires. In the end, the conch
loses significance to all but Piggy, and most of the boys turn into evil savages. Piggy tells Ralph to call
an assembly, and Ralph only laughs. Finally, after Piggy glasses are stolen, Piggy tells Ralph, Blow
the conch, blow as loud as you can. The forest echoed; and birds lifted, crying out of the treetops, as
on that first morning ages ago (Golding 154). Piggy believes that the authority of the conch will once
again bring the boys together, but only four boys meet in this assembly. The rest have joined Jack s
savage tribe.

Math and Graph Models Behind the Olympic Paul Vault Jump
Introduction
Every 4 years, the Olympic games is a major event around the world. International athletes come
together to represent their own country at a sport. A gold medal is given to the winner of each game.
This math internal assessment aims to consider the trends of the wining men gold medalist s pole vault
height from 1932 to 2008, and predicting 1940 and 1944 record, when the Olympic games were not
held due to the world war.
Data Height Record 1932 2008
The table below shows the men pole vault gold medalists at various Olympic games between 1932
and 2008.
Table 1: the winning heights of men s pole vault in Olympic games for years between 1932 and 2008.

The war, however, stopped the improvement of the heights record. Therefore, we could deduce that
the depression between 1936 and 1948 was due to lack of training due to the war. When the games
resumed in 1948, the athletes started to progress their record once again.
As you can see above, we could refine our model, disregarding the 1932 and 1936 record.
Graph 5: Graph of winning heights (m) against years since 1948
This refined model is better representation of data than graph 1 and 2 even if the line does not pass
through every point. Passing through point increased from 2 to 3 (4, 52 and 56) and majority of points
are very close to the line. It is true that some points, such as point 16 and 20 quite far from the line,
but these points can be disregarded in this model, as the line is touching the following point 24.
This gives the new linear equation y=0.0264x+4.4338 However, even though refined graph has better
equation than those of past one, there are some limitations with using linear equation to determine the
graph. Since a linear graph increases infinitely, and as humans have restraints to achieve to record,
their winning height can t keep increasing at this rate. It is not sustainable. Natural Logarithm Model
After considering the limitation of linear function and graph, I have discovered applying any model of
equation that has an infinite increase range, such as quadratic or exponential, is unrealistic, since the

Societal Values Of The Puritans
The Puritans have been portrayed to be a society which lives based on values, and very strict
interpretations of those values. Societal values revolve around the Puritan religion, with the main idea
being that God had made a covenant with their people to live according to the Scripture and to set an
example for other societies to follow. With God s covenant in mind, the Puritans lived a very
straightforward, yet tense life. Through Puritan literature, it is clear the lives of the Puritans were
based around the covenant between God and the society, with any mistakes leading to punishment and
fear within the people causing the inevitable demise of Puritan society. The Puritans lived a life in
which there was a very fine line between what was agreeing with God s covenant, and what was going
against the agreement. Much of the actions taken by the Puritans was not to help themselves, but
rather to please God. In their voyage to Cape Cod, the Puritans were faced with many challenges, yet
they never backed down, because it was God s will they succeed, So they committed themselves to the
will of God and resolved to proceed, (Bradford , Of Plymouth Plantation (26)). Because the Puritan s
believed God s strong assertion for their society to succeed and to follow through on the covenant,
they kept sailing until the ship landed at Cape Cod. Moreover, the passengers and sailors on the ship
were faced with fear that if they failed to reach the New World, it would be a failure on

Similarities Between Descartes And Hume
Two famous philosophers came up with different approaches on how we gain our knowledge. Renee
Descartes is often known as the father of modern philosophy. He was also a mathematician and
scientist. He developed the coordinate system, explained blood circulation and rainbows. He also
discovered how the earth orbits the sun. He is a rationalist about knowledge. (Pismenny, 2016) This
means that he believes we can gain knowledge through our minds. He argues that you do not need to
have experience of something to know it. David Hume, another philosopher, is an empiricist, so he
disagrees with Descartes and believes that experience is the only way to gain knowledge. (Hume,
1910) Hume is a Scottish philosopher, historian, economist and essayist. He is also a skeptic and
naturalist. (Pismenny, 2016) When it comes to knowledge, Descartes and Hume both have very
different approaches, but it can be argued that Hume has the better approach. Descartes is a rationalist
about knowledge, so that means he believes that it is possible to gain knowledge through our mind and
that we have the ability to know things that we have never seen or experienced before.(Descartes,
1641) He believes that everyone is born with the inherent ability to know two things; mathematics and
God. He argues that we have the ability to infer mathematic skills from our minds. (Pismenny, 2016)
He also says that we are born with the idea of God and religion already in our minds and that God is
responsible for

Critical Angle And Total Internal Reflection
Critical Angle Total Internal Reflection

Law of Reflection: Reflection and refraction are common properties of light. When a ray of light
comes into contact with the surface of some material, part of the ray is reflected and part of it is
absorbed. In other words, reflection occurs when an incident ray hits a reflective surface and bounces
off. The law of reflection states that the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence (always in
respect to the normal) and that the incident ray, the normal line and the reflected ray are all located in
the same plane.
Snell s Law of Refraction: When a ray of light reaches a boundary between two transparent mediums,
reflection and refraction occur. Refraction takes place when rays of light bend across the boundary
into the second medium which causes a change in the light s velocity. The denser the medium, the
slower the light.
Total Internal Reflection: Internal reflection refers to light travelling from a higher index medium to a
lower index medium, which causes the ray to bend away from the normal, so the exit angle is greater
than the incident angle. As the angle of incidence increases, so does the angle of refraction. Total
internal reflection takes place when the angle of incidence is greater than the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Discrete Wavelet Transform
Discrete Wavelet Transform DWT is a frequency based transform which is performed on wavelets. It
can be 1 D, 2 D and etc. It divides an image into four sub bands, namely  LL (Low resolution image)
 HL (Horizontal)  LH (vertical)  HH (diagonal) This division can be performed up to many
levels. It captures not only notion of frequency content but also temporal content. Wavelets provide a
mathematical way of encoding information in such a way that it is layered according to level of detail.
DWT is more computationally efficient than other transformations because of its excellent localization
properties. Wavelets are capable of complete lossless reconstruction of image[6]. Advantages of DWT

Three levels of rotations have been implemented. First the original watermarked image is being
rotated by 90o , then 180o and at last the image is being rotated by 270o in clock wise direction.
Gaussian noise On digital image Gaussian noise can be reduced using a spatial filter, though when
smoothing an image, an undesirable outcome may result in the blurring of fine scaled image edges and
details because they also correspond to blocked high frequencies. Image compression Image
compression may be lossy or lossless. Lossless compression is preferred for archival purposes and
often for medical imaging, technical drawings, clip art, or comics. Lossy compression methods,
especially when used at low bit rates, introduce compression artifacts. Lossy methods are especially
suitable for natural images such as photographs in applications. Salt and pepper Noise Salt and pepper
noise is an attack for which a certain amount of the pixels in the image are either black or white
(hence the name of the noise). Salt and pepper noise can be used to model defects in the transmission
of the image that a pixel is corrupted. Additive

Carson, Pirie Scott Building (1899 1904) is also known as Schlesinger Mayer Store which is located
in Chicago, Illinois at The World s Busiest Corner between State and Madison Street. This building
was designed by Louis Sullivan and Dankmar Adler for the retail firm Schlesinger and Mayer in 1899.
Carson, Pirie Scott Building is quite unusual building compared to other buildings as it continuously
developed overtime (Fig 1). Louis Sullivan considered Schlesinger and Mayer s aspect, giving the
new presence and atmosphere to the store among its neighbours along State Street, of the building that
lead him to design rounded corner entrance according to the site. The Building is surrounded by the
buildings but it stands out definitely. And also, the relation to the other buildings brings the contrasting
atmosphere due to its difference and ornamented exterior. There is three possible entrances to the
building (The main grand entrance and two of the entrances to the office in each side of the street.)
The Chicago Department Store is a Landmark as it stood from the Field Museum of Natural History
also has been a Chicago Landmark since 1975.
The exterior of Carson Pirie Scott Building shows Sullivan s own style with his motif of nineteenth

Analysis Of Walt Disney s Snow White, Dumbo
Walt Disney, animator, cartoonist, and entrepreneur, was a man of incredible vision and passion. He
fundamentally transformed the entertainment industry in America. Prior to Walt Disney Studios, the
art of animation was simply a moving comic strip, void of sound or color and generally constrained to
short vignettes featuring friendly characters like cats. Disney was the first to innovate a system of
animation on a large scale, capable of producing feature length films. Snow White, Dumbo, Pinocchio
these productions revolutionized the film industry in a way never seen previously. Walt Disney
continues to be a cultural phenomenon, a household name spoken to this day by children across the
world.
This romanticized image of Walt Disney conveniently forgets one of the darkest moments in the
famous visionary s past. The day was May 29th, 1941. Over three hundred Disney Studios employees
walked out of their jobs and began to form picket lines surrounding the company buildings. The
strikers held high colorful signs featuring famous Disney cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse and
Donald Duck one poster displayed a picture of Pluto the Dog, reading I d rather be a dog than a scab!
The workers marched on strike against Walt Disney Studios. The outrage of Disney s employees
clearly demonstrated their unhappiness with the way the company s workers were being treated.
The day before the strike commenced, on May 28th, 1941, Disney told his workers: This studio will

From Sock Puppets to the First Ammendment to the...
Recommendations Using and managing a sockpuppet is an endeavor that necessitates vigilance,
training, and proficiency. The role of the sockpuppet is still developing across the Internet, and it is
important to recognize the historical significance of pseudonyms and anonymous speech. Additionally,
it is critical to remember the unique, primarily autonomous nature of online communities, and the
negative impact that mandated identification could have on free speech. The value of anonymity found
in the use of a sockpuppet is profoundly connected to the establishment of the United States of
America. Although John Hancock and several others signed the Declaration of Independence and the
Constitution with their real names, pseudonyms forged the journey to the freedoms outlined in those
documents. These early examples of sockpuppets disseminated publications which united colonizers
to fight for independence. The question of anonymity was not as important as working together to
fight persecution. The Silence Dogood letters, Common Sense, The Federalist Papers, and other
writings exemplify an author s purpose for anonymity. This initial use of sockpuppets during the
American Revolution carved a precedent for the importance of anonymity and pseudonymity in the
United States, and, therefore, led to the First Amendment of the Constitution. As the world continues
to struggle with the pressure to challenge authority anonymously, sockpuppets in online communities
present a new playing

The Importance Of Barriers To Voting
There are historical and contemporary barriers to voting, including the time frame people can register
to vote, implementation of mandatory identification regulations, social services agencies fail to carry
out responsibility to make voter registration opportunities available, people with criminal convictions,
people who go to the poll often face suppression tactics and intimidation, and use of provisional
ballots. There are many obstacles preventing American from voting which is nothing new. People lack
access to get identification. The National Voter Registration Act is a law passed to make voter
registration available. Many people with criminal convictions are not aware of their eligibility to
register to vote. The right to vote can be challenged by people sitting out at the polling locations trying
to pursue people to change their vote before voting. Some provisional ballots (used to record a vote
when there are questions about a given voter s eligibility) are rejected during elections. All one of the
main barriers is due to the statistical sample of prospective voters the media telling who is ahead
during elections. The trouble with this census taking of public opinion is that it sometimes discourage
people from voting if they thinks that their favorite candidate is 30 percent ahead or 30 percent behind
(Schneider, 1996). Low level of education, high rates attainment of poverty, lack of media attention to
practical political issues, young population, low

Nakae Chomin’s Discourse
Nakae Chomin s Discourse was published in 1887, a period that demarcated a crucial turning point in
Japan s politics and economy. The book itself suggested the great debate that the people of Japan were
having in deciding the future of the nation, and draws on Chomin s studies on Western politics in
France and his journalistic and political involvements in Japan.
The Discourse acts as a forum for the exploration of the political pathways that Japan could follow
following the Meiji Restoration in 1868. At a time when Japan had just begun to consolidate herself,
Chomin s Discourse was aimed at discussing Japan s long term trajectory through three imaginary

Survival and prosperity of the nation are thus of utmost importance.
He poses a rhetoric question to the Gentleman, If anyone says that quarrelling is a vice and war an
absurdity, le me ask him to consider this: What can be done about the fact that individuals actually
possess vices? What can be done about the fact that they act absurdly? In short, what can be done
about reality? (Pg. 94). In short, he postulates that wars exist in the real world. And because of wars,
there was a need for armies. In addition, in an international scene where military was used as a basis
for negotiation (e.g. arrival of the Kurofune with Commodore Matthew Perry) and where the
European nations are not afraid of taking advantage of weaker nations (e.g. unequal treaties forced
onto Qing China after the two Opium Wars), militarization of Japan is now far more important than
before.
The Champion goes as far as to propose the invasion of a large country... vast and rich in natural
resources (Pg. 99) which will fuel the advancement of Japan at an unprecedented speed into a world
power. This case, very much aligned to realpolitik, illustrates that the Champion and Chomin both
understood that Japan held an insignificant role in international politics in the 19th century due to its
small size and limited resources, and that the policies that Japan makes should be directed towards
nullifying such structural

able to comprehend texting and her speech is limited to 140 characters or less (bathos). Molly s
condition has escalated to the point where she must be dragged from her room to be driven to school.
Molly is a victim of technology; instead of being able to play freely outside like her six year old
brother and enjoy life, she lays trapped in a virtual world of social media with no escape (pathos).
Oliver and Angelica Wood, Molly s parents, are deeply saddened by what their daughter has become.
She s lost all basic functions. All she ever does is swipe her thumb across her screen and roll her eyes
when I speak to her! Angelica says tearfully. We just need to have hope that the real Molly is still in
there somewhere, Oliver says, embracing his sobbing wife. Slowly, mobile devices and other forms of
technology seem to be destroying basic human interaction, disconnecting people from the outside
world. Technology is dominating society, and now it is imperative to find a solution to end our
addiction before it completely destroys our lives. Therefore, for our world to progress, it is necessary

Comparing Gilgamesh And The Old Testament
The Epic of Gilgamesh and the Old Testament share several similarities. I found the greatest
similarities from Old Testament were found in the book of Genesis. Both texts shared common
characters, plots, and themes. Gilgamesh and Genesis contain godly characters that created man. In
the book of Genesis, Then the LORD God molded man out of the dust of the ground, and breathed
into his nostrils the breath of life, so that man became as living being. (Smith and Goodspeed 2).
Likewise, Gilgamesh contained multiple gods, Aruru washed her hands, she pinched off some clay,
and threw it into the wilderness. In the wilderness she created valiant Enkidu, born of Silence,
endowed with strength by Ninurta. (Kovacs 6). Arura is the goddess of creation, ... Show more content

God told Noah, Make yourself an ark of oleander wood; make the ark with cabins, and smear it with
bitumen inside and out. This is how you are to make it: is the length of the ark is to be three hundred
cubits, its breadth fifty cubits and its height thirty cubits (Smith and Goodspeed 5). After surviving the
storm god said to Noah and his sons, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth. The fear and dread of you
shall be on every wild beast of the earth and an every bird of the air; as in the case of all the reptiles on
the ground and all the fish of the sea, they have been delivered into your power. Everything that
moves, that is alive, is to be food for you; as I once gave you the green plants, I now give you
everything (Smith and Goodspeed 7). Similarly, In the epic of Gilgamesh, Utanapishtim followed the
orders of Ea the god of wisdom by also building a boat. Ea said to Utanapishtim, Tear down the house
and build a boat!... Make all living beings go up into the boat. The boat, which you are to build, its
dimensions must measure equal to each other: its length must correspond to its width. Roof it over like
the Apsu (Kovacs 98). After surviving the deluge, Enlil said to Utanapishtim and his wife, Previously
Utanapishtim was a human being. But now let Utanapishtim and his wife become like us, the gods
(Kovacs 103)! The theme portrayed by the authors was that the men were rewarded for being

Zoos
I love animals. They are special creatures, we get the honor of sharing this wonderful planet with.
What if I told you our zoos aren t doing their jobs of providing and caring for the animals. Zoos have
been around for a very long time, early zoos were organized by taxonomy. In our modern world over
100 million people visit zoos worldwide. As these facts show, zoos have thrived in our world for a
long time. At what cost for the animals though? Most of the animals in zoos aren t even endangered.
Zoos are great but need to improve. We need to focus on these things that need to be improved in our
zoos.
In 2016, most people knew of the gorilla Harambe. A young boy fell into his enclosure, Harambe was
then put down in order to save the boys life. This means we need to work hard to keep zoos safe.
Jason Lukasik, from Is it Time to Break with the Colonial Legacy of Zoos, states A young boy falls
into the moat and our ordering of animals breaks down. What this quote shows is how our zoos are
faulty. Even though we may have thought our zoos to be safe, a little boy managed to fall into the
gorillas enclosure. We then go into a state of panic. Who is to pay the price? The gorilla Harambe,
who us humans put there. Animals are beautiful, majestic creatures. We put them in zoos to educate,
or save a species. What will happen if another young child or ... Show more content on

We need to come together and make zoos a comfortable, safe place for animals. To do that, find out
ways to support your local zoos. If not people may come to the conclusion that zoos should no longer
be around. Most would agree that we all love animals, so why not help zoos reach a good financial
level, take better care of the animals, make zoos safer and also make larger almost sanctuary like
enclosures. By doing these things, not only will this improve zoos themselves but also make the
animals more at ease and comfortable. Which should be our number one priority when it comes to

Chrysler Pacifica
The Chrysler Town Country is gone, replaced by the all new Pacifica minivan.
The Chrysler minivan is back. Not that it ever left, but the previous models were overshadowed by the
Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey. Not anymore. The all new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is as good as
any model out there and with its stow n go seating, it provides a feature that its competitors simply do
not match.
Model Background
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica successor to the Chrysler Town Country a minivan produced from 1990 to
2016. The Town Country name was previously used on various coupe, convertible, sedan, and wagon
models dating to the early 1940s.

It has a 1,675 pound payload and provides 3,600 pounds of towing capacity when properly equipped.
The EPA rates this model at 18 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway for a combined 22 mpg.
The V 6 engine is aptly suited for this vehicle. It is the same engine FCA uses to power such models as
the Ram 1500, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the Dodge Charger. No boosting is necessary just step on
the gas pedal and the engine roars to life. I m sure some of the rumbling emanating from the exhaust
system is artificial, but at least the performance is there to back it up as the minivan climbs to highway
speed quickly and without hesitation.
How would the Pacifica perform with a full payload and pushing the minivan to its 3,600 pound
towing capacity? I never found out as four was the maximum number of people carried at any time
and I had nothing to tow. But at least the capacity is there and it gives customers something to
consider that isn t a crossover (Dodge Durango) or a pickup truck (Ram 1500).
The 2017 Pacifica rides quietly and road noise is minimal. On the noise, vibration, and harshness
(NVH) scale, this vehicle gets high marks thanks in part to its standard active noise cancellation
technology. It also scores well in the handling, steering, and braking

How Is Jay Portrayed In The Great Gatsby
The word great can be defined in many different ways. From another s viewpoint, a great person is
knowledgeable about their skills and is beyond the average of a regular person. Despite this, in the
novel, The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald portrays Gatsby as a great character who is living the American
Dream the perfect persona, but I disagree.
Gatsby introduces himself as Jay Gatsby, but his real name is James Gatz, which questions his true
identity. At the beginning of the novel, Gatsby said he is educated at Oxford and is from a wealthy
family, in the Middle East, that is all deceased. It turns out, James Gatz of North Dakota...his parents
where shiftless and unsuccessful fame people... (Fitzgerald 98), and only attended college for two
weeks at St. Olaf in Minnesota. Gatsby s parents are not dead. He just never accepted them as his
parents because of their poverty. Gatsby leave his home, determined to search for a better life. Most
importantly, a person who is great wouldn t hide their rightful identity and this shows that there are
two sides of Gatsby. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pros And Cons Of The Person-Centered Theory Of Helping
Models of Assessment The Person Centered Theory of Helping is a client based approach that places
the responsibility on the client and not the helper. Person Centered focuses on the personal
relationship between a helper and his or her client. This theory of helping deals with the ways that
clients view themselves and encourages clients to reflect on their experience. It is a non judgmental
approach that will allow the client to find personal solutions while encouraging the, client and allows
him or her to avoid analysis. There are various goals associated with the Person Centered Theory of
Helping. Major goals of this theory include the client to have increased self esteem, the willingness to

The Rise in the Number of Girls Suffering from Anorexia...
Statistics are often a bit of a hazard, but when it comes to those concerning an illness characterised by
discretion, dishonour and deception, even that is an understatement. Statistics show a 60% rise in the
number of young girls admitted to hospital with anorexia in England and disturbingly still rising. The
mythology encompassing anorexia is a self inflicted condition brought on by narcissism. Narcissism is
a misinterpretation of what is, in reality, a life threatening disease whose cause remains obscure,
whose treatment is inaccurate and whose classification is random. Anorexia kills more of its sufferers
than any other illness. And it is vital we feed our society with greater knowledge of this critical disease
to ensure that it doesn t eat away the security and sustainability of our future generations.
Anorexia nervosa is an illness which predominately attacks teenage girls or women in their early adult
years. When they look into a mirror, they don t see athin body; they see a revoltingly overweight body.
Anorexia is a mental illness and must be treated. It is also a physical illness, an illness similar to
starvation. Anorexic young women may feel dizzy and tired constantly, may lack emotional warmth,
develop a gloomy personality, the everlasting symptoms of this bizarre suffering are never ending.
Though its symptoms are endless, but its cause? Veiled. Some claim that the media has a vigorous

Satires of Education in The Adventures of Huckleberry...
In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck is not educated, but through his adventures he proves
himself to be more quick witted by outsmarting the educated people throughout the novel. Huck was
not raised in what you would consider a proper home and as a result of that he has a lack of education.
Huck s pap was the town drunk and for a short period of time, in paps absence, Huck was taken in by
Widow Douglas as an attempt to civilize him. The Widow put Huck into school and shortly after his
admission he was forced to leave school due to the returning of pap. Pap did not treat Huck in anyway
like a father figure would treat his son, I was all over welts. (Twain 24) pap beat on Huck and locked
him up whenever he went out just so that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only thing that distinguishes the two characters is that Tom s motives were based off of the
adventure books he s read, whereas Huck has more common sense because all of his motives are
based on experience and not fiction. Tom s common sense is compared to Huck s in chapter 3 of The
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn when Tom claims that (he fought a pack of Spaniards and A rabs)
[Huck says], But there warn t no Spaniards and A rabs, and there warn t no camels nor no elephants. It
warn t anything but a Sunday school picnic... (Twain 13) So then I judged that all that stuff was one of
Tom Sawyer s lies. I reckoned he believed in the A rabs and elephants, but for me I think different
(Twain 14).
Mark Twain satires society and portrays it as being uncivilized with drunkenness (Nyirubugara). As
mentioned in the beginning of the novel, Pap is the first person introduced as being a drunk. Pap did
not like the fact that Huck was becoming smarter than him and when he regained custody of Huck he
made sure that Huck stopped going to school. Since Huck was no longer in school, he spent most of
his days protecting himself from his drunken father s abuse, so once he ran away it was not hard for
him to shift into adulthood.
Huck s morality started to change soon after he allowed Jim, a runaway slave, to come along with him
on his adventure to freedom. This decision shocked me but, as a result of Huck meeting

In Girl Rising (2013), it reveals how gender discrimination negatively affects the future of many
women and continues to be prominent in society through forced marriages, extreme poverty, and/or
labor obstacles. Girl Rising (2013) reveals heartbreaking stories of nine girls from different countries
to show how these girls overcome great obstacles to obtain an education and change their fates. Each
story is written by a writer from the girl s native country and is narrated by renowned actresses such as
Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett, Salma Hayek, and Meryl Streep. The film captured a girl named

Brandon Altman Ms. Tjarks AP Lang 1A 10 7 14 Rough Draft Science follows a simple methodology,
commonly known as the scientific method , which has been in practice since the 15th century. The
scientific method was brought up for the many discoveries that were being made during that time,
making the unknown become known. When Barry describes this method, he explains that uncertainty
must be made into a tool, to find the courage to accept and embrace uncertainty . However that
concept can be very delicate and unrealistic for our world, which is why Barry goes on to explain
hypothetical situations to utilize the concept. Barry starts off his explanation by comparing the
strength and conviction of uncertainty against the weakness of uncertainty,

largest assignment that I was given was to aid a contracting engineer with a power distribution project
for the plant. Power distribution is the transfer of energy, or electricity, from one location to another.
However In order to understand power transfer from generation to distribution it is important to
understand the process from start to finish. AC (Alternating Current) is used for this transfer because
of its ability to transmit over longer distance with lower losses by using transformers. Power is lost in
transmission lines due to its resistance, the longer the transmission line the higher its resistance will
be, however when using polyphase AC current we are able to change the voltage levels through the
use of transformers. There are step up transformers and step down transformers both are used when
transporting power from one location to another. Starting from the Generation of the electricity, which
is created by many possible processes, the voltage is significantly

The Legal Problem Of Regulation And Marijuana
Regulation and Marijuana Since 1863, the United States has had a dual banking system composed of
both federal and state chartered institutions. This means that banks and other financial institutions
have the option of choosing between a federal charter issued by the Office of the Comptroller of the
Currency or a state charter from a state banking regulator (Hill, 2014, p. 8). When it comes to
marijuana banking however, federal regulation holds all the power. Under federal law, marijuana is
still classed as a Schedule I drug which means that it is not legal in any form, including for medical
purposes (Erb, 2015). Federal financial regulators have complete authority to punish institutions that
do not comply with federal law. Aaron Smith, executive director of the National Cannabis Industry
Association calls the lack of banking services the most urgent issue facing the legal cannabis industry
today (Sullum, 2014). Without help from Congress to bring down these walls, most financial
institutions will not provide their services to those in the marijuana industry. The risk is simply too
great. Also, if financial institutions continue to be federally liable for the illegal actions of their
potential marijuana business customers, financial services will continue to be unavailable. The next
few sections will look at some of the obstacles facing the marijuana industry, specifically how the
federal laws are preventing businesses from gaining access to financial services.

  • 2. Descriptive Essay About Mamaw s House A majority of my favorite days were spent at Mamaw s house. When I think about that rustic white house sitting in the middle of that vast farm, I think of it as a place where I am myself, and it is a place where my family and I create the most fun filled memories. Mamaw s house has been the setting of quite a few hilarious and heartwarming stories over the years. Ever since my family had bought the farm, it has been our family gathering place. Mamaw s house hosts anything from birthday parties to Thanksgiving dinners to family reunions. Out of all the precious memories I have from that house, there are a few that are especially near and dear to my heart. When all of my family from Louisville is at my Mamaw s house, it is very likely that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The warm, summer air s aroma was a mix of fresh grass, flowers, and dog. Mom and I went inside to cook the pizzas while we were waiting for my sister, brother in law, niece, nephew, aunt, and uncle. After everyone arrived, my nephew and I went outside to set up our chairs and see if the moon had concealed the sun at all. WOW! , my nephew said as we both looked at the sun to see a little chunk of it being covered. Later on, when all of us were outside looking to the sky as totality approached, my brother in law pulled my chair out from under me. As I was about to sit down in my chair, I glanced over to him and saw him sitting in my chair! I tried to sit down, but instead I fell to the ground. Everyone started busting out laughing like a pack of hyenas, including me. I sat on the ground for a moment admiring my surroundings. The sky was a light, denim blue with a slight orange cast along the horizon; the lighting outside had shifted from bright to a candlelight glow. Because I had fell, I missed the corona and diamond ring phase of the solar eclipse. However, I still enjoyed the once in a lifetime experience with my family, even though I missed the most beautiful part of the eclipse. When I m older, I ll look back and cherish thprecious family moments that helped me realize just how important family is. As mentioned earlier, when my aunt, uncle, and cousins drive down from Louisville, my entire family gathers at my Mamaw s house. When my cousin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Scheme according to which a model of myth is collected from an archetypal constructor is universal and is called monomyth. (reference) But as actors change in different mythological histories, circumstances, then the variety of details of narration became very bright and can be seen instantly, and the similarity of the canvas remains unnoticed. According to Jung, the archetypes evolved in the course of evolution like internal organs. Invisible to the eye, they are always with us, but as psychic organs. Archetypes are imprinted in culture, art, and religion. Mythological heroes during their journey behind the quest for treasure acquire friends and enemies. These fictional ... And Shadow begins to try to subordinate the influence of the elves. Especially unstable to her is Feanor. This is the beginning, the properties of which are creativity, impatience, a beginning that generates everything new and beautiful (it is no accident that Feanor surpasses all other elves by his creativity and skills.) and at the same time the most unstable of all beginnings. Feanor created the Silmarilles by touching the Self, however, as an Eternal Child, he himself is the original, original Self, and the Silmarilles is his continuation, being the Self. In this sense, it is not accidental that he says that by destroying the Silmarilles, he will kill himself both are the Self, and the destruction of one will cause the destruction of the other. And as an Eternal Child, Feanor is impulsive. He does not want to wait, and this causes all his harsh decisions that led to such tragedies. He is lonely because he has lost his beloved mother, and this place in his psyche is empty in fact, he is not an integral personality, because he has not developed Anima (the role of Anima, for him, was forever taken by the abandoned world of Míriel, his ... • 5. • 7. The Effects of the Earquake in Japan Essay Key Questions 1. Highlight, in the form of a list of key items, the critical issues relating to the disruptions of operations of industry in japan and the country s partners globally. Toyota suffer drop in global market share along side Japanese rivals Honda and Nissan. The Japanese carmakers lost a huge 4.5% all together. Due to the earthquake Japanese suppliers in northeastern Japan were not able to supply any critical parts or raw materials to the Japanese car manufacturers. Toyota had a shortage of 30 components in 2011, which is not even comparable to the 500 parts they were missing just after the earthquake. It is generally a negative occasion, which a business tries to create a plan B for. Anything out of the blue disturbs an organization s normal operation can hurt the organization regardless of the fact that the disturbance is a direct result of a Boom. That is the reason organizations make contingency plans for some possible circumstances, so organization administration has contingency plan to quickly implement shortly after. Natural disasters are sudden impacts to the business yet if japan has a history with natural disasters the organization must be in possession of a contingency plan. (d) Disruptions to electricity supply A disruption of electricity leads to a blackout, which results in no production at all which can risk losing a lot of revenue instead of generating it. Directly after electricity blackout it won t be possible to buy any goods without cash due to no electric payments. A second possibility disruption to the Japanese car makers cannot operate producing thus this creates less chances for productivity in the factory. In this case perhaps the suppliers in northeastern japan were not able to produce and export raw materials or critical parts to global partners leading to a break in supply chain between manufacturers and suppliers. This could be a major reason why the Japanese restore their factories and set up shop elsewhere to re position the business it self in the market. • 8. Argumentative Essay Smoking The numbers of people who smoke have increased over the years. Although they are equipped with the knowledge of how unhealthy smoking can be, people still choose to smoke. It is a personal choice and a highly addictive habit. Smokers choose to subject themselves to the health risks of smoking. It is not for the government or any third party to dictate whether or not a person should be allowed to smoke. However, smoking does not only affect the smoker negatively. It also affects all the people around those who smoke because when people smoke in public the smoke travels everywhere through the air, and the negative effects of the smoke affects all living, breathing creatures. Therefore smoking should be banned in all public places. People who smoke in public portray a bad example. Children are easily influenced in their growing stages. They imitate the people around them because they cannot differentiate between right and wrong. Therefore they perceive the actions they see around them as the way thing should be. Besides that, teenagers who see people smoke in public take it as precedent to start smoking as well. There is a saying that goes monkey see monkey do , which tells us that people imitate the actions of others as they see it in their daily lives. Teenagers happen to think that smoking makes a person cool . When they see adults doing it on the streets, it strengthens their belief in the coolness of smoking. Some teenagers think that smoking marks their transition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Symbolism Of The Conch Rykr Templeton Mrs. Swaninger Period 1 1 May 2017 The Symbolism of the Conch For centuries philosophers, have debated the question of whether man is naturally evil. William Golding poses this question in his novel Lord of the Flies. Set on a tropical island during World War II, the novel begins when schoolboys from Great Britain are being flown to safety and their plane is shot down. No adults survive, and the boys are left to control themselves and get rescued. The boys find a conch, which is a symbol of power and authority to whoever has it in his possession. William Golding uses symbolism in the form of the conch to represent the concept of society. Throughout the course of the novel, the boys developing relationship with the conch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the boys first start a fire on top of the mountain, Piggy holds the conch and attempts to speak. But Jack scolds him by saying, The conch doesn t count on top of the mountain, so you shut up (Golding 39). Boys like Jack begin to place restrictions on the conch and lose respect for it and for one another. Then one day at an assembly, Jack places even less importance on the conch excluding more of the boys and weakening the equal order and authority that the conch provides. Jack says, We don t need the conch anymore. We know who ought to say things...It s time some people knew they ve got to keep quiet and leave deciding things to the rest of us (Golding 92). Jack s statement here clearly connects the end of the conch to a change in the social order. Jack is slowly becoming a power hungry dictator, and the orderly influence of the conch is replaced by man s evil desires. In the end, the conch loses significance to all but Piggy, and most of the boys turn into evil savages. Piggy tells Ralph to call an assembly, and Ralph only laughs. Finally, after Piggy glasses are stolen, Piggy tells Ralph, Blow the conch, blow as loud as you can. The forest echoed; and birds lifted, crying out of the treetops, as on that first morning ages ago (Golding 154). Piggy believes that the authority of the conch will once again bring the boys together, but only four boys meet in this assembly. The rest have joined Jack s savage tribe. ... • 10. Math and Graph Models Behind the Olympic Paul Vault Jump Introduction Every 4 years, the Olympic games is a major event around the world. International athletes come together to represent their own country at a sport. A gold medal is given to the winner of each game. This math internal assessment aims to consider the trends of the wining men gold medalist s pole vault height from 1932 to 2008, and predicting 1940 and 1944 record, when the Olympic games were not held due to the world war. Data Height Record 1932 2008 The table below shows the men pole vault gold medalists at various Olympic games between 1932 and 2008. Table 1: the winning heights of men s pole vault in Olympic games for years between 1932 and 2008. (Excluding 1940 and 1944) Year 1932 1936 1948 1952 1956 1960 1964 1968 1972 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The war, however, stopped the improvement of the heights record. Therefore, we could deduce that the depression between 1936 and 1948 was due to lack of training due to the war. When the games resumed in 1948, the athletes started to progress their record once again. As you can see above, we could refine our model, disregarding the 1932 and 1936 record. Graph 5: Graph of winning heights (m) against years since 1948 This refined model is better representation of data than graph 1 and 2 even if the line does not pass through every point. Passing through point increased from 2 to 3 (4, 52 and 56) and majority of points are very close to the line. It is true that some points, such as point 16 and 20 quite far from the line, but these points can be disregarded in this model, as the line is touching the following point 24. This gives the new linear equation y=0.0264x+4.4338 However, even though refined graph has better equation than those of past one, there are some limitations with using linear equation to determine the graph. Since a linear graph increases infinitely, and as humans have restraints to achieve to record, their winning height can t keep increasing at this rate. It is not sustainable. Natural Logarithm Model After considering the limitation of linear function and graph, I have discovered applying any model of equation that has an infinite increase range, such as quadratic or exponential, is unrealistic, since the ... • 11. Societal Values Of The Puritans The Puritans have been portrayed to be a society which lives based on values, and very strict interpretations of those values. Societal values revolve around the Puritan religion, with the main idea being that God had made a covenant with their people to live according to the Scripture and to set an example for other societies to follow. With God s covenant in mind, the Puritans lived a very straightforward, yet tense life. Through Puritan literature, it is clear the lives of the Puritans were based around the covenant between God and the society, with any mistakes leading to punishment and fear within the people causing the inevitable demise of Puritan society. The Puritans lived a life in which there was a very fine line between what was agreeing with God s covenant, and what was going against the agreement. Much of the actions taken by the Puritans was not to help themselves, but rather to please God. In their voyage to Cape Cod, the Puritans were faced with many challenges, yet they never backed down, because it was God s will they succeed, So they committed themselves to the will of God and resolved to proceed, (Bradford , Of Plymouth Plantation (26)). Because the Puritan s believed God s strong assertion for their society to succeed and to follow through on the covenant, they kept sailing until the ship landed at Cape Cod. Moreover, the passengers and sailors on the ship were faced with fear that if they failed to reach the New World, it would be a failure on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Similarities Between Descartes And Hume Two famous philosophers came up with different approaches on how we gain our knowledge. Renee Descartes is often known as the father of modern philosophy. He was also a mathematician and scientist. He developed the coordinate system, explained blood circulation and rainbows. He also discovered how the earth orbits the sun. He is a rationalist about knowledge. (Pismenny, 2016) This means that he believes we can gain knowledge through our minds. He argues that you do not need to have experience of something to know it. David Hume, another philosopher, is an empiricist, so he disagrees with Descartes and believes that experience is the only way to gain knowledge. (Hume, 1910) Hume is a Scottish philosopher, historian, economist and essayist. He is also a skeptic and naturalist. (Pismenny, 2016) When it comes to knowledge, Descartes and Hume both have very different approaches, but it can be argued that Hume has the better approach. Descartes is a rationalist about knowledge, so that means he believes that it is possible to gain knowledge through our mind and that we have the ability to know things that we have never seen or experienced before.(Descartes, 1641) He believes that everyone is born with the inherent ability to know two things; mathematics and God. He argues that we have the ability to infer mathematic skills from our minds. (Pismenny, 2016) He also says that we are born with the idea of God and religion already in our minds and that God is responsible for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Critical Angle And Total Internal Reflection Critical Angle Total Internal Reflection Kate Graham Partner: Samantha Dekart Monday, November 9, 2015 SNC2D Ms. Vink Purpose: See attached sheet, labelled SNC2D Lab Sheet . Related Theory: Law of Reflection: Reflection and refraction are common properties of light. When a ray of light comes into contact with the surface of some material, part of the ray is reflected and part of it is absorbed. In other words, reflection occurs when an incident ray hits a reflective surface and bounces off. The law of reflection states that the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence (always in respect to the normal) and that the incident ray, the normal line and the reflected ray are all located in the same plane. Snell s Law of Refraction: When a ray of light reaches a boundary between two transparent mediums, reflection and refraction occur. Refraction takes place when rays of light bend across the boundary into the second medium which causes a change in the light s velocity. The denser the medium, the slower the light. Total Internal Reflection: Internal reflection refers to light travelling from a higher index medium to a lower index medium, which causes the ray to bend away from the normal, so the exit angle is greater than the incident angle. As the angle of incidence increases, so does the angle of refraction. Total internal reflection takes place when the angle of incidence is greater than the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Discrete Wavelet Transform Discrete Wavelet Transform DWT is a frequency based transform which is performed on wavelets. It can be 1 D, 2 D and etc. It divides an image into four sub bands, namely  LL (Low resolution image)  HL (Horizontal)  LH (vertical)  HH (diagonal) This division can be performed up to many levels. It captures not only notion of frequency content but also temporal content. Wavelets provide a mathematical way of encoding information in such a way that it is layered according to level of detail. DWT is more computationally efficient than other transformations because of its excellent localization properties. Wavelets are capable of complete lossless reconstruction of image[6]. Carson, Pirie Scott Building (1899 1904) is also known as Schlesinger Mayer Store which is located in Chicago, Illinois at The World s Busiest Corner between State and Madison Street. This building was designed by Louis Sullivan and Dankmar Adler for the retail firm Schlesinger and Mayer in 1899. Carson, Pirie Scott Building is quite unusual building compared to other buildings as it continuously developed overtime (Fig 1). • 16. Analysis Of Walt Disney s Snow White, Dumbo Walt Disney, animator, cartoonist, and entrepreneur, was a man of incredible vision and passion. He fundamentally transformed the entertainment industry in America. Prior to Walt Disney Studios, the art of animation was simply a moving comic strip, void of sound or color and generally constrained to short vignettes featuring friendly characters like cats. Disney was the first to innovate a system of animation on a large scale, capable of producing feature length films. Snow White, Dumbo, Pinocchio these productions revolutionized the film industry in a way never seen previously. Walt Disney continues to be a cultural phenomenon, a household name spoken to this day by children across the world. This romanticized image of Walt Disney conveniently forgets one of the darkest moments in the famous visionary s past. The day was May 29th, 1941. Over three hundred Disney Studios employees walked out of their jobs and began to form picket lines surrounding the company buildings. The strikers held high colorful signs featuring famous Disney cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck one poster displayed a picture of Pluto the Dog, reading I d rather be a dog than a scab! • 17. From Sock Puppets to the First Ammendment to the... Recommendations Using and managing a sockpuppet is an endeavor that necessitates vigilance, training, and proficiency. The role of the sockpuppet is still developing across the Internet, and it is important to recognize the historical significance of pseudonyms and anonymous speech. Additionally, it is critical to remember the unique, primarily autonomous nature of online communities, and the negative impact that mandated identification could have on free speech. The value of anonymity found in the use of a sockpuppet is profoundly connected to the establishment of the United States of America. Although John Hancock and several others signed the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution with their real names, pseudonyms forged the journey to the freedoms outlined in those documents. These early examples of sockpuppets disseminated publications which united colonizers to fight for independence. The question of anonymity was not as important as working together to fight persecution. The Silence Dogood letters, Common Sense, The Federalist Papers, and other writings exemplify an author s purpose for anonymity. This initial use of sockpuppets during the American Revolution carved a precedent for the importance of anonymity and pseudonymity in the United States, and, therefore, led to the First Amendment of the Constitution. There are many obstacles preventing American from voting which is nothing new. People lack access to get identification. The National Voter Registration Act is a law passed to make voter registration available. Many people with criminal convictions are not aware of their eligibility to register to vote. The right to vote can be challenged by people sitting out at the polling locations trying to pursue people to change their vote before voting. Some provisional ballots (used to record a vote when there are questions about a given voter s eligibility) are rejected during elections. All one of the main barriers is due to the statistical sample of prospective voters the media telling who is ahead during elections. The trouble with this census taking of public opinion is that it sometimes discourage people from voting if they thinks that their favorite candidate is 30 percent ahead or 30 percent behind (Schneider, 1996). The Discourse acts as a forum for the exploration of the political pathways that Japan could follow following the Meiji Restoration in 1868. And because of wars, there was a need for armies. In addition, in an international scene where military was used as a basis for negotiation (e.g. arrival of the Kurofune with Commodore Matthew Perry) and where the European nations are not afraid of taking advantage of weaker nations (e.g. unequal treaties forced onto Qing China after the two Opium Wars), militarization of Japan is now far more important than before. • 33. The Legal Problem Of Regulation And Marijuana Regulation and Marijuana Since 1863, the United States has had a dual banking system composed of both federal and state chartered institutions. This means that banks and other financial institutions have the option of choosing between a federal charter issued by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency or a state charter from a state banking regulator (Hill, 2014, p. 8). When it comes to marijuana banking however, federal regulation holds all the power. Under federal law, marijuana is still classed as a Schedule I drug which means that it is not legal in any form, including for medical purposes (Erb, 2015). Federal financial regulators have complete authority to punish institutions that do not comply with federal law. Aaron Smith, executive director of the National Cannabis Industry Association calls the lack of banking services the most urgent issue facing the legal cannabis industry today (Sullum, 2014). Without help from Congress to bring down these walls, most financial institutions will not provide their services to those in the marijuana industry. The risk is simply too great. Also, if financial institutions continue to be federally liable for the illegal actions of their potential marijuana business customers, financial services will continue to be unavailable.
