WHY DO WE VACCINATE?
 To enhance the immunization of the chicks.
 Prevent from many contagious & deadly
diseases.
 Improve the flock health
 Improve the production efficiency
HOW DO VACCINES WORK?
 Vaccines contain different types of antigens.
 Depending on the type of antigen in the
vaccine, antibodies were created by immune
system of the bird
 Created antibodies fight against the causal
antigen
VACCINES & VACCINATION
Poultry vaccines come in 3 forms:-
I. Modified/ Live vaccines
 Strains that are naturally or genetically modified
II. Inactivated/ Killed vaccines
 Whole viruses or bacteria inactivated during production
 Supply as injectable form
III. Recombinant vaccines
 Use live viruses or bacteria as a vector to transport the
gene coding

HOW WE VACCINATE GUMBORO?
Before Vaccination
 Birds must be water restricted for approximately
one hour.
 Always administer the vaccine in the water early
in the morning.
 Waterers must be cleaned with suitable
disinfectants.
Vaccine Preparation
 Mix 200 doses with skim milk powder and
they apply to 10l of clean and boiled water.
Vaccine Administration
 Pour 500ml of vaccine mixture into the
drinkers of each replicate.
IF CHICK INFECTED BY INFECTIOUS BURSAL
DISEASE (IBD)
 Inflammation
 Subsequent atrophy of the bursa of fabricius
 Feathers around the vent are stained with
feces
 Ruffled feathers with droopy appearance
THANK YOU!
