Argumentative Essay On Jump Racing
The issue that has been discussed recently is horse jump racing, which is where the horses race across
the track jumping brush fences and sometimes ditches. This is an issue in sport because many horses
are having horrific falls and dying from participating in the event, which many people do not
understand. Some people think it is good for the community and some people disagree.
The argument for jump racing to continue is that many people think that horses that have died from
jump racing are purely freak accidents, that this could happen with any animal in any sport. The
people involved and that support the sport suggest that they know the risk, they make sure
organisations such as the RSPCA are involved to oversee the sport and that horses ... Show more

Statistics over many years have shown that jumps races are even more dangerous and harmful for
horses, with up to 20 times more fatalities than flat races (Horse Racing, 2017). Jump racing is also a
lot more demanding then flat races as they are longer, they also jump and run approximately the same
speed as flat races and the jockeys are required to be heavier. Many people have even bigger issues
with the training and well being of these horses. If normal race horses have bleeding in the lungs,
stuck in stalls for large periods of time, being over worked and given unnatural foods to improve their
performance, it must be the same or even worse for jump racing horses. Just recently at the Oakbank
Easter Races another horse was put down during the Somerled Hurdle race, almost the length of three
kilometers with hurdles throughout. At the last hurdle, the five year old gelding Wheeler Fortune
suffered a horrendous leg injury and was euthanized. This is the 17th horse to die just in SA alone
since 2009, and 79 horses in Australia since 2006 from this cruel sport. Mr. Bignell, the local racing
minister has said it s cruel it s barbaric and doesn t belong in the 21st Century after the events at

Kidney Transplant Surgery
Last week I read the article, Transplant surgery Kidney transplant. I found this on the website,
Transplantation Surgery University of California San Francisco, and it was written by The University
of California. The article that I read was 9 pages long back to back. This article was about kidney
transplants. The reason that I chose this article is because it seemed interesting to learn about, and
because I want to learn more about different types of surgery out their and what there like. Kidney
disease is a major health issue in the US affecting more than 8 million American citizens. When a
person s kidney drops down to a certain level patients are required to get either a dialysis or a kidney

This operation is a heterotopic transplant. Heterotopic means that the kidney is placed in a different
location than the previous kidney. The original kidneys are not usually taken out unless they re
causing severe problems such as EXTREMELY high blood pressure, frequent kidney infections, or if
they are enlarged. Recovery in the hospital is usually 3 7 days. This article was very interesting. It was
complicated to read through, but I could comprehend it enough to understand the article. The article
was stacked with facts and details. For instance, the author gave a lot of different details about the
surgery and procedure. This made the topic easier to

The Complexity Of Vessity Insanity In William...
The word Renaissance means rebirth and is used to represent a period in which there was tremendous
growth in literature, poetry, and drama. During that time, there were many great playwrights; one of
them was William Shakespeare, who wrote different genres of play, such as comedy, tragedy, and
histories. One of his famous tragedies play is Hamlet, which based on Prince Hamlet s revengeful plan
against his uncle, King Claudius. However, some critics question Hamlet s insanity and they believe
Hamlet is actually pretending to be insane. The purpose of this essay is to examine the extent to which
the character, Hamlet, is insane. Despite different critics opinions regarding Hamlet s insanity, it
seems Hamlet is not insane at the beginning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He only feels grief and sorrow because his father s death is too sudden that he does not know how to
handle and response. Yet, the death of Hamlet s father is one of the factors that cause Hamlet to
become insane.
Hamlet s mother marriage with King Claudius is another reason that indirectly contributes to Hamlet s
insanity. This is because Hamlet s mother, Gertrude, marries to his father s brother quickly after his
father has just died. Hamlet simply thinks his mother s remarriage to King Claudius is disgusting
because it is incest and he thinks his mother has betrayed his father. According to Johnson Samuel, he
argues it is necessary to evaluate character Gertrude in order to understand how her remarriage to
Claudius eventually leads to his son madness (Johnson). First of all, one of the critics, Niamh J. O
Leary, thinks Shakespeare depicts Gertrude as an independent woman who is able to make her own
judgments and overcome panics. This is because when King s Hamlet dies, it does not take Gertrude a
long time to recover as she marries to his husband s brother quickly. Moreover, Niamh argues
Gertrude decides to marry King Claudius because she wants to protect his son. She needs to protect
his son because she knows Claudius has murdered her husband (O Learny). In the play, audiences can
see Hamlet describes his mother, Gertrude as a disloyal woman who betrays her husband. It is this
betrayal that causes Hamlet to become insane when he confronts his

Essay On Physics After The Discovery Of The Atom
PARTICLE PHYSICS AFTER THE DISCOVERY OF THE HIGGS
The world of physics had been developed a well established model of the atom. The standard model
had been pretty well tied up , with its group of 16 elementary particles and their nice set of rules
describing how they should interact. Physicists had observed until the Higgs discovery, 16 of these
particles. The crowd was already beginning to desperate for a 17th particle that would send the model
in new and wild directions (supposedly). But the Higgs particle ruined the hopes and expectations of
everybody: it turned out to be very ordinary: its behavior was just like the model said it would act,
obeying every theorized rule [2]. Therefore, the Standard Model is vindicated. And this was a ... Show

The weak force, on the other hand, is associated with particles called W and Z bosons, very massive
comparing to the other particles.
The Higgs mechanism is thought to be responsible for this, now that the existence of the particle is a
fact: if we recognize the existence of the Higgs field, the W and Z bosons mix with this field,
acquiring mass, explaining the reason of why the W and Z bosons have mass. This unifies as well the
electromagnetic and weak forces into the electroweak force. [4]
An interesting side effect, much less important than the discoveries, indeed, but with enough
importance for itself, is the validation of the large amounts of effort and money invested in the
equipment like the LHC. This flattens the road for the investment in the next generation of scientific
machinery to keep researching. After analyzing the facts, this money is going to be very needed in the
near future. It has been theorized that dark energy is the bulk of the energy of the universe, and the
dark matter and energy existence is neither explained by the Standard Model. This model canΒ΄t explain
gravity or the neutrino mass. Nowadays, scientific community knows that the Standard Model is an
approximation of another theory, more comprehensive and able to explain the Higgs mass with a most
natural approach. The reason is that the measured mass of the Higgs is about 100 million billion times
smaller than the value suggested by

How Did Japanese Occupation from 1941 1945 affect the History of HK
Introduction
The Japanese occupation of Hong Kong commenced on December 25, 1941 after Sir Mark Young, the
Governor of Hong Kong by then, had surrendered the land of Hong Kong to Japan. This surrender
took place after 18 days of aggressive battle between Canadian and British defenders and the
overwhelming Japanese Imperial militaries. Eventually, the occupation continued for 3 years and 8
months. This paper seeks to analyze the implications of the Japanese occupation to the people of Hong
Kong and find how the British Government had reformed the political system, recovered the economy,
and improved the people s living condition after 1945.

After they had dispossessed the merchants and banks of the properties, Japanese authorities
substituted domestic dollars for Japanese army yen; thus, Hong Kong currency was banned. The rate
of exchange was settled at two Hong Kong dollars to one Japanese military yen. After a while, in July
1942, the yen was re prized at 4 Hong Kong dollars to 1 Japanese yen, which implied that native
persons can exchange a smaller amount of military currency than before. The Japanese administration
traded the Hong Kong dollar to facilitate the funding of their wartime economy, whereas the residents
of Hong Kong became poor due to the enforced exchanges. Later in June 1943, yen was the only
lawful tender for formal undertakings. The prices of goods and services for selling had to be in yen.
Yen s progressive depreciation caused a serious price rises and instability, directly impacting the
residents of Hong Kong. In addition, the Japanese yen was afterwards confirmed valueless, and
residents, lacking ownership of their initial Hong Kong dollar, were on the

What Is The Thorns In The Scarlet Letter A
My project consists of a cake garnished with the red letter A. The A is divided by two contradictory
ideas. The initial fraction of the cake has black frosting and a red A on it. The A has thorns around it,
showing the immoral part of the letter. The opposite half of the cake has white frosting and a red A and
is ornamented with roses instead of barbs. The relationship I am showing by including the two halves
of the A is how the idea of the letter changed throughout the book. At first, the letter, and Hester are
perceived as sinful, evil, and a smear on Puritan culture. But once Hester becomes a giver in her
community, she becomes one who the Puritans regard as being an angel or able. I took advantage of
the roses, thorns, and the opposition between black and white, to show how this change happens. ...

At the beginning of the book, the rose bush outside the prison symbolizes hope where there is none,
while at the same time its thorns show the pain of the prisoners in the prison. I used the thorns in the
first half to show how Hester is in more sadness at the beginning because she is being criticized so
sternly by everybody around her. I used the roses in the second half though to demonstrate how Hester
gains hope because of her transformed image. In addition, I chose black and white as the frosting
colors of the halves to show how contrasting these two meanings of the letter are. I chose black and
white because black is more of a sinful color, which shows how society looks at Hester and only sees
her sin through the first parts of the book. White is purer and shows how Hester becomes a symbol of
purity to the town, and the A is changed to mean angel instead of an adulterer or a sinner. First, the A
viewed as very sinful and evil, and then more

Varying Methods To Improve Facets and Overall Methods of CPR
Since its development in the early 1950s, CPR has become the cornerstone for cardiac arrest
treatment. Incorporating a variating ratio of chest compressions and ventilations, CPR has consistently
demonstrated an improvement of outcomes when promptly and precisely administered to cardiac
arrest victims. The American Heart Association (A.H.A) provides constant guideline updates as more
current, more advanced research is made available. The most recent A.H.A update was released in
2005. At that time A.H.A introduced a new change in compression to ventilation ratios, switching
from 15:2 to 30:2. This was done with the intent of increasing oxygen perfusion to starved tissues in
adult victims. (1st Source) Their have been other innovative ideas about improving CPR, of which

Revival and Rebirth in Europe: The Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo
Introduction
The three stylistic periods, following the original classical era, the Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo
saw many changes in art. This was influenced by many factors, such as scientific development,
revolution in the case of the Rococo as well as one of the key factors that the church was no longer
such a key patron of the arts.
These factors would have had a profound influence on have art developed during these three periods
preceding the classical era of art. This paper will discuss the relationship between growing scientific
knowledge and art. Scientific developments at the time had a profound influence on how art itself

Although there was certainly an application of realism involved, certainly in easel art. For example,

previous eras.
The realist approach continued to flourish in much later eras until the 1700s, even though art didn t
benefit from such scientific developments. Previous knowledge was essential right up until the 1700s
(Encyclopedia of Art History, n.d.).
Conclusion
The relationship between art and science become fundamental in the renaissance era. This relationship
became mutually beneficial, not only did science help create techniques such as linear perspective or
knowledge of the human anatomy, but science benefited with knowledge. This is due to artists being
heavily involved in such research to perfect art, hence the term scientific realism.
Art has been a motivation, driven by the desire to make art increasingly more realistic. There are three
key developments in science which have aided this realism. Perspective, Geometry and the research

The film starts by the two detectives arriving by boat accompanied by dark creepy clouds and terrible
weather which leads to hurricane type winds and stormy rain through the film. This helps contribute to
the already eerie and dark environment of the mental hospital/institution. The dull grey lighting of the
sky with the dramatic rocking of the boat and loud fog horns puts you on edge from the get go. From
the very beginning, it is apparent something strange is taking place on Shutter Island and the director
leaves the audience to gain the experience of watching everything unfold. The setting of the movie is
just as important as any other aspect of the film. The fact that it takes place in a mental
hospital/institution on a remote island surrounded by rocky cliffs, huge waves, caves, steeps along
with a creepy lighthouse, where it is said cruel experiments take place, screams suspense and thrill.
The island is surrounded with tall brick walls laced with electric fencing and only one port to leave
and arrive. The facility itself gives off an eerie feel with its creepy architect. Inside, the buildings are
littered with labyrinth style spaces that seem to almost consume its inhabitants. Flickering, somewhat,
unreliable lighting and approaching storm adds to sketchy scenery. I feel this makes the audience feel

Segregation In School Segregation
On May 17, 1954 the United States Supreme Court handed down its ruling in the landmark case of
Brown V. Board of topeka, Kansas. The Court s Unanimous decision overturned provision of the 1896

The Presidential Election Elections Election
In the 2000 United States Presidential election, the close pre election polls showed the election could
be won by either the Republican or the Democrat Party. Both Parties had two strong candidates, with a
handful of other third party candidates, including Green Party and Reform Party representatives. As I
watched the results of the 2000 presidential election, I felt bad for Vice President Albert Gore, Jr. The
Presidency seemed to be well within Governor George W. Bush s grasp. The television news networks
were showing a big lead for Bush across the country. I turned the television off in my office, and I
advised my Soldiers to get back to work. My Soldiers and I were stationed overseas in the Republic of
Korea. We were thirteen hours ahead of the Eastern Time zone in the United States. We worked for the
Commanding General for all United States Troops in Korea. The General often spoke about the
election, but never let on which candidate got his vote. When I turned on the news at home that same
evening, I was shocked to learn the presidency had not been decided. It seemed Gore rebounded
across the country; however the total vote count in some states is too close to call. The 2000
Presidential election was important to me because the last time a Bush was in office, I found myself
overseas as a part of a Multinational Coalition as the United States had declared war on the country of
Iraq. In the year 2000, the peninsula of Korea had been in a delicate state with

Adolf Hitler spent much of his life wanting to be a painter and when he was eighteen years old he fled

was part of the heritage. Some museums cooperate and others do not and the battle between who the
painting belongs to becomes an enormous court battle. The central theme of The Rape of Europa
describes the lengths and expenses that a community should go to preserve their art. I believe that
communities should go extreme lengths and expenses to preserve their art because art is part of our
cultural and if past generations did not preserve their art then future generations would not be able to
learn about their cultural, background and heritage. Also, in earlier times art was a way of
communication. For instance, cave men and women would draw cave drawings and if scientist did not
preserve these drawings then we would not know what life was like back then. The arts are a powerful
vehicle for communication, a way to express visions that are beyond the capacity of words and a
medium for cultural enlightenment and insight. Art also allows viewers to connect with the art and the
artist in a deeper way than life can sometimes express. Communities should go extreme lengths and
expenses to preserve their art because it provided a deeper insight to life. One of the most famous
pieces of artwork that was purged during World War II by the German Nazis was Klimt s Portrait of

ABSTRACT
Due to the progressive development of human societies, their ecological and environmental influence
has been steadily increasing. The spatial expansion and higher population and housing density of cities
with its multiplier effect on land use and land cover change (LUCC) have been recognized as the most
important aspects of cities climate change which is triggered by the need for urban services provision
for the influx of human population. The shortages of housing in particular, and other urban services
provision is the fundamental cause and effects of development of illegal and informal settlements.
With analysis from empirical study in Eldoret town, the study discusses the need for urban land
regularization as a requisite to combat the driving forces for formation of informal settlements and its
impacts on cities climate. After presenting a series of concepts and definitions related to urban land
informality and illegality, standardization and tenure security from the literature, we then discuss the
data methods for the study. A detail of the research results focusing on the nature and the impacts of
informal and illegal settlement in both the city centre and the hinterlands using the UN Habitat Slum
indicators is presented. We conclude on implication cities climate change dynamics

The Aspects of Museums and Utopian Study in Calvino s Invisible Cities
In Calvino s novel Invisible Cities, the traveler Marco Polo tells Kublai Khan fiction of the various
cities of his empire, which the Khan himself will never visit. In this paper I will describe such model
from Calvino s novel to explore those aspects of museum experience that are almost invisible to
people. Sketching on critical research and state that, museum is no single but a multiplicity of deeply
personal and largely invisible utopian spaces. At the end of Invisible Cities, Polo talks of the infernal
city, the exact opposite of utopia. Escaping this city is a matter of giving space to things that are not of

What sets it aside from most literature is the element of fantasy and the use of the above
aforementioned values. Reality is understood in varying degrees as part of everyday life. The fantasy,
visionary or unexpected is utopian because there is no one to answer to the validity, or possibility of
its existence. These cities are quickly established as impossible cities in reader s minds. With
discussions and consideration of the five values readers slowly move into a place of imagination. For
some readers the cities present an unusual mirror that reflects their own society and existence. For
other readers that mirror is more of a crystal ball that helps define a possible future. We may build a
design philosophy on these literary concepts because they are couched in terms of modes of
communication and communication is usually what the graphic designer is trying to achieve (Jackob

John Steinbeck used his short story, The Chrysanthemums, as a visual illustration to answer the adage,
Is the grass really greener on the other side? During The Great Depression, the American dream had

was once the land of hope and optimism had become the land of despair. The American people were

Elisa s garden is her private escape, where she is free to daydream, yearn, and wonder about life
outside of her valley. Her little fenced in garden not only keeps the dogs and cattle out, but her
husband does not trespass in it either. It is hers and hers alone. Elisa shows signs that she is miserable
in her marriage and her life, by being curt and dismissive to her husband, uninterested in his buyers,
and equally rude and dismissive towards the panhandler that rides up in an ancient, rickety, covered
wagon. being pulled by an old horse and a mule. He informs Elisa that he travels up and down the
west coast year round looking for work to be able to make a living. He mends pots and pans, as well
as sharpens knives and scissors for customers. He is a very big man who has learned to read people
well. He is engaging, slippery, and a con artist, who is a master of manipulation. When his salesman
spiel does not work on Elisa, and she brushes him off, he changes tactics, and gains her absolute
attention and favor, when he pretends an interest in her chrysanthemums. He goes so far as to mention
or create on the spot, another female customer of his who would love to have a pot of them for herself.
The truth was the panhandler was not interested in her chrysanthemums. He looked around her farm
and envied her life. He naively saw only that she had a beautiful, thriving

Cor Leo Research Paper
Leo is one of the earliest recognized and simplest constellations in the sky to find (Zimmermann
2017). From the northern hemisphere it can be seen between the months of January and June and is
located by finding the bottom two stars of the Big Dipper s cup and moving straight out from them
until you see the sickle shape (Christoforou 2017). In western culture, the constellation is said to have
been discovered by the Sumerians and Egyptians. Around 10,500 BC, the Egyptian Sphinx would
have faced Leo as it rose in the sky. That date was approximately around the time known as the Age of
Leo. The constellation was defined by one of the four royal stars that Persian astronomers linked to
the solstices and equinoxes. Originally called Cor Leonis, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of those is Negral, the solar God of War and Pestilence. He was said to be a phase of Shamash
that represented the midday and mid summer sun. This was considered the deadliest phase of the Sun
God (Ancient Astronomy 2017). Because of their fierceness, they were often depicted by lions.
Sometimes they were even depicted as having the body of a human and the head of a lion. Another
possible representation is that of Inanna. She is the Lioness of Heaven. Although she is represented by
a constellation below the shoulder of Leo, there is a strong connection between her and the lion as it
was said that she had a sacred lion that she would take with her into battle. This could be because lions
represented the sun and the sun was most prominent summer which also happened to be the time when
most wars for foreign lands took place. A third possibility is that of the lore behind Humbaba. He was
a monstrous, fire breathing lion who served as the guardian that watched over the forest of the Gods.
He was raised by Shamash. Some of Shamash s traits would have been passed down to Humbaba
which would have made him a perfect choice as the protector of the sacred forest of the Gods (Ancient

There Will Come Soft Rain Analysis
Technology is a useful servant, but a dangerous master, a quote said by Christian Lous Lange. I find it
astounding how attached we are to our technological devices.Technology has attached itself to us and
infiltrated our lives. Moreover, we walk around as if technology is cane for us to lean on. If we aren t
careful, we could become too dependent on that cane to the point where it becomes a wheelchair.
Also, in The Veldt, by Ray Bradbury, the children in the story become so dependent on technology to
do everything for them, that they can t even perform basic everyday tasks without the help of
technology. I don t want to believe that this is where society is heading, spiraling downhill into a
world that is completely ruled by technology. It is so =apparent ... Show more content on

Consequently, we are willingly falling into a trap set for us by technology. It is time for us to decide
whether or not we are going to start fighting back or not. Do we want to just become submissive to
technology and let it eat us whole? The differences between the two texts, by Ray Bradbury, The Veldt
and There Will Come Soft Rain are evident, but the similarities are striking. In the first place,
technology is taking over and controlling our lives and one reason why it is, is because we depend on
technology to perform simple tasks for us. In both The Veldt and There Will Come Soft Rains, the
humans of those stories have a deep emotional connection to technology that they wouldn t know
what to do if it was taken away from them. You ve let this room and this house replace you and your
wife in your children s affections. This room is their mother and father, far more important in their

A Woman Placed On Death Row For Murdering Her Pimp
Nawal El Saadawi, author of Woman at Point Zero, once said, Women in most countries have not
achieved much, because they can t be liberated under the patriarchal... system...which is governed by
power, not justice, by false democracy, not real freedom. This quote addresses a certain idea that is
prevalent in the novel: men have immense power over women in Egypt. Firdaus, a woman placed on
death row for murdering her pimp, recounts her life s tale of sexual abuse and inequality of gender to
El Saadawi to help her understand her past. Constantly mentioning money, pleasure, and other key
focuses, Firdaus describes her life in great detail to make it seem more real and relatable. Based on a
true story, El Saadawi articulates Firdaus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows that the significance of books changes from escape to wealth when Firdaus realizes that
they were mainly reserved for rich men. Essentially, men have the upperhand in most matters, even in
access to literature, as they generally have more money than women. Although she manages to buy
her own books, she only affords them by submitting to men s power through sex, which frustrates her.
Money is another symbol that supplements the main idea of men s power over women. In the
beginning of the book Firdaus uncle has the cash; therefore, has the control. He decides that Firdaus
needs to stop school after she gets her secondary school certificate, because it is too expensive. Simply
because men have the primary capability to earn piastres, women are made to do as the men please.
Firdaus feels very put down as she has a strong desire to continue her education or to search for a job.
Originally, she wants to earn respect by being financially independent, which relates to when she
attempts to get another job later on. In both attempts men take advantage. Firdaus stays with Bayoumi,
who ends up raping her, as she has no money for housing. She can t escape men overpowering her
solely because she has no piastres to call her own. In this sense, she feels trapped. She notes, ...men
force women to sell their bodies at a price, and that the lowest paid body is that of a wife. All women
are prostitutes of one kind or another (99).

Dave Berry Ketchup Satire
Everyone around the world have their own unique ways on making teaching their loved ones a life
lesson. Parents will try to teach their child in a fun way just so they can learn what they have been
told. Their child, will finally understand what is going on. Some people even involve ketchup. In the
fictional letter, Dave Berry teaches his grandson life s lesson beginning with the ketchup, Dave Berry
uses high comedy in the form of hyperboles and sarcasm to prove that just because many people
believe something, that does not make them right. But, it also does not mean that they are wrong.
Everyone must think, why I said ketchup . Out of everything, how does ketchup help with life
lessons? Well, if Dave Barry, could explain to his grandson, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the letter, hyperboles are going to make everything seem exaggerated but will make anyone chuckle
or smile. Many people believe that their cats actually like them. Many people believe that the New
York Yankees are not the agents of Satan. Many people believe that light beer is a form of beer. Many
people voluntarily purchase recordings by Barry Manilow (Barry). The quote involves exaggeration.
The author is making the quote funny by exaggerating what the author is saying to not believe in
anything. The intended response for the readers/audience is for them to think about what is going on.
This quote makes everyone wonder if it is actually happening or not. In another quote, Dave Barry,
explains how cold ketchup could ruin hamburgers. For example, in the letter Barry says, Millions of
people routinely ruin perfectly good hamburgers and hot dogs by putting cold ketchup and mustard on
them (Barry). In the quote exaggeration is shown through hyperbole when he states that hamburgers
and hotdogs are completely ruined, from cold ketchup and mustard. The author knows that burgers
and hotdogs are not actually ruined from cold condiments, they re just simply not to his liking. The
intended response for the reader was a light laugh or chuckle because they soon find out that the
narrator is making fun of people who use cold ketchup and

Answers In Genesis-USA
Answers in Genesis resulted from the merging of two Australian creationist organizations in 1980.
One was founded in the late 1970s by John Mackay, Ken Ham, and others as Creation Science
Educational Media Services. Its founders believed that the established Christian church s teaching of
the Bible was being compromised. The group merged with Carl Wieland s Creation Science
Association in 1980, becoming the Creation Science Foundation (CSF) that later became Answers in
Genesis. In 1987, Ken Ham was seconded by CSF to work for the Institute for Creation Research
(ICR) in the United States, then in 1994 left ICR to found Answers In Genesis USA. Later that year,
CSF in Australia and other countries changed their names to Answers In Genesis so that all the sister
organizations would share the same identity. The branches of AiG remained legally separate, since
they were incorporated in different countries. However, they were still very closely related. For

Abortion Is A Social Issue
Good evening, in a landmark ruling today the Supreme Court Legalized Abortions. The majority in
cases from Texas and Georgia said that the decision to end a pregnancy during the first three months
belongs to the woman and her doctor. Not the government. Too many the debate over the concerns of
abortion begin with Roe vs Wade, but the controversy has been with us for centuries. Ancient cultures
addressed it. Even Plato and Aristotle spoke of terminating pregnancies both for and against
depending on the mother s health and when life begins. In the 1700 s America under British common
law permitted abortion before quickening or, before fetal movement could be detected. But by the mid

There are so many different beliefs about when human life begins. These beliefs and ideas have all
affected the morality of this issue. It is obvious why abortion is such a socio ethical issue with both
sides continuously fighting each other over its legality. After research I believe that women should
have the choice when it comes to surrendering their bodies to hindrance of pregnancy.
In the US around, fifty one percent of pregnancies are unintended. With thirty one percent of those
being unwanted. This statistic comes from the CDC. It is an unfortunate thing that, that many
pregnancies go unwanted, but within those unwanted pregnancies rape does play a role. Five percent
of rape victims do occur an unwanted. In the United States there are options and one of those options
is of course giving your child away for adoption, but women should have more options. Women
should have the option to have abortion and other pro life choices. They should have the right to
choose the options they want. There are numerous things that could assist them. There s medical,
financial disadvantages that come along with having a child dealing with a pro nine months and very
large social stigmas that affect their lives.
According to the Colorado Department of Health and impairment unexpected pregnancies have a
higher risk of birth defects and can cause long term development issues. These include low birth rate,

As these assignments continue I seem to come at a crossroad to find legitimate information about

following. Television has become Costa Rica focuses on original programming, dubbed American
programs and international shows that have gotten a strong following. Costa Rica has various channels
and their first ever channel was Canal 7 (Telecita) which was created in 1958.

In novellas, family with various members are a staple within their programming as well as sexual
expression. Costa Rica is a country where they are enamored with the human body and does not hide
it away from the audience Most of the novellas portray women in tight fitting clothes, makeup, hair
and a damsel in distress situation. Similar to the ideal of a American Disney princess. However, the
women then tend to be highly passionate, fiery and strong tongue. this is not the same case for media
or the audience. The United States a country that likes to claim its freedom places multiple boundaries
in their media. Recently, a Disney movie was released called Beauty The Beast and it created a strong
backlash due to a gay character by the name of LeFou. Some towns in the United States have banned
for the movie completely or stated that a student under the age of sixteen cannot see the movie. This is
not a problem in Costa Rica, and it is planned to be the summers highest opening weekend. This
demonstrates that the lack of restrictions of programs in Costa Rica and how open the Costa Rican
locals are. I had seen the movie a weekend before and the hints are very small and only become
relevant in one of the last scene in the movie. Once you get past the small details toy can view the
movie with an open clear mind. This is just one example of a worldwide film that is being scrutinized

Insurance Is An Important Part Of An Organization s...
Insurance is an important part of an organization s compensation and benefits package because it
serves as a safeguard against uncertainty. Insurance is a way for an organization to take care of one of
their most important assets, which is the employee. There are many types of insurance that can be
included in an employee s compensation and benefits package. Those that will be discussed here are
term life insurance, whole life and universal life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment
insurance, and short term or long term disability insurance. These types of insurance will be discussed

This type of insurance can serve to protect the beneficiaries, especially when they are not able to fend
for themselves financially at the time of the death of the policy holder. The advantages of a time life
insurance are many. For example, policies are relatively simple to understand. As previously stated,
term life insurance has a specific timeframe and the beneficiaries receive the benefit only when the
policy holder dies. It is important to understand that term life insurance is mainly for the protection of
the beneficiaries. A term life insurance can be viewed as a replacement for the income that the policy
holder provides for his or her family. In the event of death, the family will not have to suffer from the
financial shock of the loss of their breadwinner. Ideally, a term life insurance should be effective at a
time when the beneficiaries need financial support the most, such as when the children are still going
to school and unable to support themselves. This type of insurance can serve to soften the blow of the
loss of income that a family experiences when the policy holder dies. Whole life insurance and
universal life insurance are types of permanent life insurance, which provides lifetime coverage. A
permanent life insurance is often composed of two parts: a savings or investment portion and an
insurance portion (Dave, 2016). Permanent

The Element Of Moral Philosophy By James Rachels
In the book, The Element of Moral Philosophy , James Rachels explores the several criticisms of
Utilitarianism. In this essay, I will touch on these criticisms, outlining the major implications they
propose to Utilitarianism. I will also explain why many of the notions proposed against Utilitarianism
are self serving, and instead serve to improve the general good of a minority population, which
contradicts the Utilitarian theory of equating moral aptitude to the general good of a majority
population, and that in this respect a greater consequence is achieved. Lastly, I will demonstrate how
many societal values have a Utilitarian basis, which proves that Utilitarianism can be salvaged in the
face of most criticisms.
In substance, the nature of Utilitarianism is derived of consequence. Utilitarianism proposes that the
outcome of an act should suggest whether or not said act is morally correct. Many philosophers
disagree, and believe that the consequence of an act does little to implicate morality. For example,
there are numerous crimes committed daily. Some of these crimes remain undiscovered and therefore
result in zero negative consequence. The text specifically outlines a particular situation wherein a
peeping Tom spies on a woman without her ever finding out. If the woman never finds out, then she
has no reason to be upset, and in contrast the peeping Tom will be evidently pleased. This results in a
positive outcome, or positive consequence, and therefore would

Implementing High Cognitive Demand Tasks
To implement high cognitive demand tasks, we need to plan for the tasks accordingly to promote
reasoning and problem solving skills, help our students to explain and justify the answers, give the
students chance to discuss and validate the results, and ask students to explain their thinking about the
math concepts. I divided each class into teams of four to work collaboratively on the tasks. Another
strategy I did during these tasks was revise and find different ways to make the tasks easier to start and
complete within the groups. I learned how to explain and the task thoroughly, I walked around the
room more, checking up on the groups. If students had any questions, comments, or thoughts about
the task they could asked me while I was walking around the room. I asked my students many
different questions like inviting, probing, pressing, waiting, orienting, re voicing, connecting, and
explaining questions to help them start or continue solving the task. These questions would extend
their knowledge of the concepts and make them think deeply about solving and justifying their
answers. I needed to prepare well planned intentional questions, think about the barriers and the
challenges such as previous knowledge. To help the all the students in engaging with the task, we need
to allow them enough time to work on the task. During these tasks students work together as a team to
meet the goal of how to solve the quadratic equations? and how can they use different ways and

  • 2. Argumentative Essay On Jump Racing The issue that has been discussed recently is horse jump racing, which is where the horses race across the track jumping brush fences and sometimes ditches. This is an issue in sport because many horses are having horrific falls and dying from participating in the event, which many people do not understand. Some people think it is good for the community and some people disagree. The argument for jump racing to continue is that many people think that horses that have died from jump racing are purely freak accidents, that this could happen with any animal in any sport. The people involved and that support the sport suggest that they know the risk, they make sure organisations such as the RSPCA are involved to oversee the sport and that horses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Statistics over many years have shown that jumps races are even more dangerous and harmful for horses, with up to 20 times more fatalities than flat races (Horse Racing, 2017). Jump racing is also a lot more demanding then flat races as they are longer, they also jump and run approximately the same speed as flat races and the jockeys are required to be heavier. Many people have even bigger issues with the training and well being of these horses. If normal race horses have bleeding in the lungs, stuck in stalls for large periods of time, being over worked and given unnatural foods to improve their performance, it must be the same or even worse for jump racing horses. Just recently at the Oakbank Easter Races another horse was put down during the Somerled Hurdle race, almost the length of three kilometers with hurdles throughout. At the last hurdle, the five year old gelding Wheeler Fortune suffered a horrendous leg injury and was euthanized. This is the 17th horse to die just in SA alone since 2009, and 79 horses in Australia since 2006 from this cruel sport. Mr. Bignell, the local racing minister has said it s cruel it s barbaric and doesn t belong in the 21st Century after the events at Oakbank. He wants TSA to act on and ban the ... • 3. Kidney Transplant Surgery Last week I read the article, Transplant surgery Kidney transplant. I found this on the website, Transplantation Surgery University of California San Francisco, and it was written by The University of California. The article that I read was 9 pages long back to back. This article was about kidney transplants. The reason that I chose this article is because it seemed interesting to learn about, and because I want to learn more about different types of surgery out their and what there like. Kidney disease is a major health issue in the US affecting more than 8 million American citizens. When a person s kidney drops down to a certain level patients are required to get either a dialysis or a kidney transplant to save their life. A dialysis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Serology is were there testing for viruses such as HIV, Hepatitis and CMV (cytomegalovirus) so that they know the right preventive medicine for you. During this time there are more test that are taken. The tests all vary by age, cause, gender and other medical needs. Finally, when all the tests are done they do the transplant surgery. This surgery is done under general anesthesia. This operation usually take sugions 2 4 hours. This operation is a heterotopic transplant. Heterotopic means that the kidney is placed in a different location than the previous kidney. The original kidneys are not usually taken out unless they re causing severe problems such as EXTREMELY high blood pressure, frequent kidney infections, or if they are enlarged. Recovery in the hospital is usually 3 7 days. This article was very interesting. It was complicated to read through, but I could comprehend it enough to understand the article. The article was stacked with facts and details. For instance, the author gave a lot of different details about the surgery and procedure. This made the topic easier to ... • 4. The Complexity Of Vessity Insanity In William... The word Renaissance means rebirth and is used to represent a period in which there was tremendous growth in literature, poetry, and drama. During that time, there were many great playwrights; one of them was William Shakespeare, who wrote different genres of play, such as comedy, tragedy, and histories. One of his famous tragedies play is Hamlet, which based on Prince Hamlet s revengeful plan against his uncle, King Claudius. However, some critics question Hamlet s insanity and they believe Hamlet is actually pretending to be insane. The purpose of this essay is to examine the extent to which the character, Hamlet, is insane. Despite different critics opinions regarding Hamlet s insanity, it seems Hamlet is not insane at the beginning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He only feels grief and sorrow because his father s death is too sudden that he does not know how to handle and response. Yet, the death of Hamlet s father is one of the factors that cause Hamlet to become insane. Hamlet s mother marriage with King Claudius is another reason that indirectly contributes to Hamlet s insanity. This is because Hamlet s mother, Gertrude, marries to his father s brother quickly after his father has just died. Hamlet simply thinks his mother s remarriage to King Claudius is disgusting because it is incest and he thinks his mother has betrayed his father. According to Johnson Samuel, he argues it is necessary to evaluate character Gertrude in order to understand how her remarriage to Claudius eventually leads to his son madness (Johnson). First of all, one of the critics, Niamh J. O Leary, thinks Shakespeare depicts Gertrude as an independent woman who is able to make her own judgments and overcome panics. This is because when King s Hamlet dies, it does not take Gertrude a long time to recover as she marries to his husband s brother quickly. Moreover, Niamh argues Gertrude decides to marry King Claudius because she wants to protect his son. She needs to protect his son because she knows Claudius has murdered her husband (O Learny). In the play, audiences can see Hamlet describes his mother, Gertrude as a disloyal woman who betrays her husband. It is this betrayal that causes Hamlet to become insane when he confronts his ... • 5. Essay On Physics After The Discovery Of The Atom PARTICLE PHYSICS AFTER THE DISCOVERY OF THE HIGGS The world of physics had been developed a well established model of the atom. The standard model had been pretty well tied up , with its group of 16 elementary particles and their nice set of rules describing how they should interact. Physicists had observed until the Higgs discovery, 16 of these particles. The crowd was already beginning to desperate for a 17th particle that would send the model in new and wild directions (supposedly). But the Higgs particle ruined the hopes and expectations of everybody: it turned out to be very ordinary: its behavior was just like the model said it would act, obeying every theorized rule [2]. Therefore, the Standard Model is vindicated. And this was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The weak force, on the other hand, is associated with particles called W and Z bosons, very massive comparing to the other particles. The Higgs mechanism is thought to be responsible for this, now that the existence of the particle is a fact: if we recognize the existence of the Higgs field, the W and Z bosons mix with this field, acquiring mass, explaining the reason of why the W and Z bosons have mass. This unifies as well the electromagnetic and weak forces into the electroweak force. [4] An interesting side effect, much less important than the discoveries, indeed, but with enough importance for itself, is the validation of the large amounts of effort and money invested in the equipment like the LHC. This flattens the road for the investment in the next generation of scientific machinery to keep researching. After analyzing the facts, this money is going to be very needed in the near future. It has been theorized that dark energy is the bulk of the energy of the universe, and the dark matter and energy existence is neither explained by the Standard Model. This model canΒ΄t explain gravity or the neutrino mass. Nowadays, scientific community knows that the Standard Model is an approximation of another theory, more comprehensive and able to explain the Higgs mass with a most natural approach. The reason is that the measured mass of the Higgs is about 100 million billion times smaller than the value suggested by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Impact Of Japanese Occupation From 1941-1945 Affect... How Did Japanese Occupation from 1941 1945 affect the History of HK Introduction The Japanese occupation of Hong Kong commenced on December 25, 1941 after Sir Mark Young, the Governor of Hong Kong by then, had surrendered the land of Hong Kong to Japan. This surrender took place after 18 days of aggressive battle between Canadian and British defenders and the overwhelming Japanese Imperial militaries. Eventually, the occupation continued for 3 years and 8 months. This paper seeks to analyze the implications of the Japanese occupation to the people of Hong Kong and find how the British Government had reformed the political system, recovered the economy, and improved the people s living condition after 1945. Background The 3rd Reich was at its climax of supremacy by the end of 1941. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After they had dispossessed the merchants and banks of the properties, Japanese authorities substituted domestic dollars for Japanese army yen; thus, Hong Kong currency was banned. The rate of exchange was settled at two Hong Kong dollars to one Japanese military yen. After a while, in July 1942, the yen was re prized at 4 Hong Kong dollars to 1 Japanese yen, which implied that native persons can exchange a smaller amount of military currency than before. The Japanese administration traded the Hong Kong dollar to facilitate the funding of their wartime economy, whereas the residents of Hong Kong became poor due to the enforced exchanges. Later in June 1943, yen was the only lawful tender for formal undertakings. The prices of goods and services for selling had to be in yen. Yen s progressive depreciation caused a serious price rises and instability, directly impacting the residents of Hong Kong. In addition, the Japanese yen was afterwards confirmed valueless, and residents, lacking ownership of their initial Hong Kong dollar, were on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The initial fraction of the cake has black frosting and a red A on it. The A has thorns around it, showing the immoral part of the letter. The opposite half of the cake has white frosting and a red A and is ornamented with roses instead of barbs. The relationship I am showing by including the two halves of the A is how the idea of the letter changed throughout the book. At first, the letter, and Hester are perceived as sinful, evil, and a smear on Puritan culture. But once Hester becomes a giver in her community, she becomes one who the Puritans regard as being an angel or able. I took advantage of the roses, thorns, and the opposition between black and white, to show how this change happens. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the beginning of the book, the rose bush outside the prison symbolizes hope where there is none, while at the same time its thorns show the pain of the prisoners in the prison. I used the thorns in the first half to show how Hester is in more sadness at the beginning because she is being criticized so sternly by everybody around her. I used the roses in the second half though to demonstrate how Hester gains hope because of her transformed image. In addition, I chose black and white as the frosting colors of the halves to show how contrasting these two meanings of the letter are. I chose black and white because black is more of a sinful color, which shows how society looks at Hester and only sees her sin through the first parts of the book. White is purer and shows how Hester becomes a symbol of purity to the town, and the A is changed to mean angel instead of an adulterer or a sinner. As I watched the results of the 2000 presidential election, I felt bad for Vice President Albert Gore, Jr. The Presidency seemed to be well within Governor George W. Bush s grasp. I believe that communities should go extreme lengths and expenses to preserve their art because art is part of our cultural and if past generations did not preserve their art then future generations would not be able to learn about their cultural, background and heritage. Adaptation Of Climate And Simplifying Informal Settlements ADAPTATION OF CLIMATE AND STANDARDIZING INFORMAL SETTLEMENTS IN ELDORET BY Caroline Jepkemboi Cheplong Email; carojep2015@hotmail.com JULY, 2015 ABSTRACT Due to the progressive development of human societies, their ecological and environmental influence has been steadily increasing. The spatial expansion and higher population and housing density of cities with its multiplier effect on land use and land cover change (LUCC) have been recognized as the most important aspects of cities climate change which is triggered by the need for urban services provision for the influx of human population. The shortages of housing in particular, and other urban services provision is the fundamental cause and effects of development of illegal and informal settlements. With analysis from empirical study in Eldoret town, the study discusses the need for urban land regularization as a requisite to combat the driving forces for formation of informal settlements and its impacts on cities climate. After presenting a series of concepts and definitions related to urban land informality and illegality, standardization and tenure security from the literature, we then discuss the data methods for the study. A detail of the research results focusing on the nature and the impacts of informal and illegal settlement in both the city centre and the hinterlands using the UN Habitat Slum indicators is presented. • 27. Short Essay On Costa Rica As these assignments continue I seem to come at a crossroad to find legitimate information about television in Costa Rica. Yet I was able to find some type of information and hope that what has been discovered is credible. What I learned was that Costa Rica has free press and a large television following. Television has become Costa Rica focuses on original programming, dubbed American programs and international shows that have gotten a strong following. Costa Rica has various channels and their first ever channel was Canal 7 (Telecita) which was created in 1958. Similar to the ideal of a American Disney princess. However, the women then tend to be highly passionate, fiery and strong tongue. this is not the same case for media or the audience. The United States a country that likes to claim its freedom places multiple boundaries in their media. Recently, a Disney movie was released called Beauty The Beast and it created a strong backlash due to a gay character by the name of LeFou. Some towns in the United States have banned for the movie completely or stated that a student under the age of sixteen cannot see the movie. This is not a problem in Costa Rica, and it is planned to be the summers highest opening weekend. This demonstrates that the lack of restrictions of programs in Costa Rica and how open the Costa Rican locals are. I had seen the movie a weekend before and the hints are very small and only become relevant in one of the last scene in the movie. Once you get past the small details toy can view the movie with an open clear mind. This is just one example of a worldwide film that is being scrutinized by different ... This type of insurance can serve to protect the beneficiaries, especially when they are not able to fend for themselves financially at the time of the death of the policy holder. The advantages of a time life insurance are many. For example, policies are relatively simple to understand. As previously stated, term life insurance has a specific timeframe and the beneficiaries receive the benefit only when the policy holder dies. It is important to understand that term life insurance is mainly for the protection of the beneficiaries. A term life insurance can be viewed as a replacement for the income that the policy holder provides for his or her family. In the event of death, the family will not have to suffer from the financial shock of the loss of their breadwinner. Ideally, a term life insurance should be effective at a time when the beneficiaries need financial support the most, such as when the children are still going to school and unable to support themselves. This type of insurance can serve to soften the blow of the loss of income that a family experiences when the policy holder dies. Whole life insurance and universal life insurance are types of permanent life insurance, which provides lifetime coverage. A permanent life insurance is often composed of two parts: a savings or investment portion and an insurance portion (Dave, 2016). Permanent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. The Element Of Moral Philosophy By James Rachels In the book, The Element of Moral Philosophy , James Rachels explores the several criticisms of Utilitarianism. In this essay, I will touch on these criticisms, outlining the major implications they propose to Utilitarianism. I will also explain why many of the notions proposed against Utilitarianism are self serving, and instead serve to improve the general good of a minority population, which contradicts the Utilitarian theory of equating moral aptitude to the general good of a majority population, and that in this respect a greater consequence is achieved. Lastly, I will demonstrate how many societal values have a Utilitarian basis, which proves that Utilitarianism can be salvaged in the face of most criticisms. In substance, the nature of Utilitarianism is derived of consequence. Utilitarianism proposes that the outcome of an act should suggest whether or not said act is morally correct. Many philosophers disagree, and believe that the consequence of an act does little to implicate morality. For example, there are numerous crimes committed daily. Some of these crimes remain undiscovered and therefore result in zero negative consequence. The text specifically outlines a particular situation wherein a peeping Tom spies on a woman without her ever finding out. If the woman never finds out, then she has no reason to be upset, and in contrast the peeping Tom will be evidently pleased. This results in a positive outcome, or positive consequence, and therefore would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Implementing High Cognitive Demand Tasks To implement high cognitive demand tasks, we need to plan for the tasks accordingly to promote reasoning and problem solving skills, help our students to explain and justify the answers, give the students chance to discuss and validate the results, and ask students to explain their thinking about the math concepts. I divided each class into teams of four to work collaboratively on the tasks. Another strategy I did during these tasks was revise and find different ways to make the tasks easier to start and complete within the groups. I learned how to explain and the task thoroughly, I walked around the room more, checking up on the groups. If students had any questions, comments, or thoughts about the task they could asked me while I was walking around the room. I asked my students many different questions like inviting, probing, pressing, waiting, orienting, re voicing, connecting, and explaining questions to help them start or continue solving the task. These questions would extend their knowledge of the concepts and make them think deeply about solving and justifying their answers. I needed to prepare well planned intentional questions, think about the barriers and the challenges such as previous knowledge. To help the all the students in engaging with the task, we need to allow them enough time to work on the task. During these tasks students work together as a team to meet the goal of how to solve the quadratic equations? and how can they use different ways and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
