1) Machine learning can help rationalize the "experience and intuition" of chemical research by finding patterns and exceptions from large amounts of chemical data to predict new materials and phenomena.
2) While in theory chemical structures and properties can be described by Schrodinger's equation, it is impossible to solve for realistic systems, requiring approximations. Machine learning may help address this challenge.
3) Chemists have successfully created compounds with desired properties through "experience and intuition", which involves inductive reasoning from experiments rather than purely deductive logic, incorporating serendipitous findings.

Many new software development methods such as agile and iterative development require closer communication among developers compared to traditional ones. However today, many IT engineers are not good at communicating with others. Therefore, we are developing software engineer education curriculum with enhancement of communication skills (more specifically, consensus-building skills) in mind. We are adopting case-centered methods, in which both software development process and importance of consensus can be understood through actual experiences. For evaluation, we have applied our educational case method to six computer science undergraduates, composed in two groups of three persons each. As the result, consensus-building workshop in our curriculum was effective in achieving closer communication.

A Study on Decision Support System for Snow Removal Dispatch using Road Surfa...harmonylab
This study focuses on addressing the challenges associated with decision-making in winter road snow removal operations, aiming to alleviate the burden on snow removal personnel. Specifically, we propose an approach to develop a system that collects and visualizes information on road snow conditions and weather data to support decision-making by personnel. Additionally, by sharing the collected information, we aim to facilitate the sharing of premonitions about changes in decision-making among snow removal personnel, reducing the need for physical inspections. We have validated the effectiveness of the system and confirmed its efficacy.

Shunyu Yao, Jeffrey Zhao, Dian Yu, Nan Du, Izhak Shafran, Karthik Narasimhan, Yuan Cao : ReAct: Synergizing Reasoning and Acting in Language Models, arXiv: 2210.03629 (2022)
