Their Eyes Were Watching God Feminist Analysis
Feminism and Their Eyes Were Watching God Author Zora Neale Hurston s novel Their Eyes Were
Watching God, is viewed as one of the greatest examples of feminist literature. The protagonist in
the novel, Janie, embodies multiple characteristics of a feminist. By deploying multiple elements of
feminism in Their Eyes Were Watching God
, Author Zora Neale Hurstonreveals to readers the
struggles women went through in the progressive era, and through the creation of the Character
Josie, also reveals how feminists combated the struggles of this time. Hurston is often referred to as
the author at the forefront of the Harlem Renaissance. Often times her fictionwould be about
relationships between African American citizens of south Florida, and Their... Show more content

While married to Tea Cake, Janie gains confidence as a feminist and moves away from southern
women s traditional roles. These roles included being passive, proper, and demure (Mageland).
Janie knew that this type of life was not for her, and had the courage to stray away from this
lifestyle. After Janie marries Tea Cake, she returns to her hometown, and citizens immediately
notice the change she has made in her life. What she doin coming back here in dem overhalls?
Can t she find no dress to put on? Where s dat blue satin dress she left here in? (Hurston, 191).
The woman on the porch in Janie s hometown are mortified to see that Janie is acting in such a
way that goes completely against their traditional ideals. However, Janie refuses to conform to
society s norms for women, and continues to act as a true feminist would by wearing the
clothing that is desired by herself and not by her community. Janie s ultimate goal is to appear
and act as a natural woman. She has grown tired of acting in accordance with a set of societal
rules, and simply wants to be herself. Janie symbolizes this realization by letting her hair down
out of the pony tail that Jody forced her to wear, along with wearing her overalls instead of a
dress. It is these restrictions that Jody placed on Janie that caused her to feel no remorse after
his death, but instead freedom: Tain t dat Ah worries over Joe s death. Ah jus loves dis freedom.
(Hurston, 93). Jody s death does not bring sadness to Janie, however it causes her to feel
liberated. She does not desire to marry another man like Jody who is seen as proper , and enjoys
not having a man telling her how to act. Furthermore, Janie foreshadows her marrying of Tea Cake
in chapter three when she tells Nanny that she wants things sweet wid mah marriage lak when you

A Triumphant Ending For The Hero
All villains are antagonists but not all antagonists are villains, It has been established in classic
literature that the purpose of a villain sis to create a triumphant ending for the hero. In Jules Vern s,
Around the world in Eight Days, the antagonist possesses much more than simply being the bad
guy in pursuance of the protagonist to impede their clichГ© happy ending. Detective Fix, as
tenacious and stubborn as he is, offers much more than an antagonistwho is fated to meet his doom
in the end. Fix exists to drive the plot; diverting the sequence of events to satisfy his interests,
rather than existing as a complement to valor. Without his efforts, the account of journey is
predictable, depriving the readers of suspense and anticipation towards the story s conclusion.
His endeavor throughout the narrative was to arrest the famed robber who he believes is Fogg.
Although being a part of journey, he showed the complexity of his disposition. A reader must
overlook all the misdeeds and maliciousness Fix had performed in order to observe him beyond
the image classic literature portrays antagonist, Verne develops complexity within Detective Fix
as he is a flawed man who struggles to recognize his sense of morality because of false
determination and greed. (Thesis) The misdeeds and inadequacy Detective fix performed
throughout the novel come from his captivity from his own pride and vanity. He holds great pride
because of the authority that his profession bestows him, His

Professor Cockerell
Imagine a world without printers, everyday life would be much more difficult, especially in the
business world. Printers are used everyday whether it be for personal use, business, or education,
printers are vital to reach our expectations in technology. With a click of a button we can print
documents, pictures, and letters in a 2D format in color or black and white. Because of in
innovators we ve come so far with technology, we now have the capability of printing in 3D. What
is a 3D printer you might ask, a 3D printer is the most technologically advanced printer available
today, it is a printer that creates one 3D structure at a time. This is done by copying a structure that
already exists, whether the design only exists on your computer or the 3D printer can copy a
physical structure that already exists.
What was once only a thought is now reality, items such as clothing, tools, food and even organs
are being reproduced with 3D printers. Today, you can own a 3D printer that uses plastic for its
base material to create prototypes, toys, tools, and many other possibilities. In this paper we will be
looking at the history of printing, where its technology is leading us and its future.
The earliest form of printing was in 175 AD when the Han emperor in china had confucian classics
engraved to stone.

The Rapport Between A Firm s Strategy And Its Overall...
The term strategy is widely used in the business environment. A strategy is used to decide and
achieve business objectives. The rapport between a firm s strategy and its overall performance
is the key focus in strategic management. Kay (2000) believes that nowadays it is impossible to
plan and predict the future, he argues that strategy has become the influencing of a firms market
positioning. A myriad of models to analyse strategic choices have been described by scholars
(Hambrick Fredrickson, 1996).In the early 1980s, Michael Porter s presented his model of
generic strategies. Since then, it has been one of the most used methods due to its high
efficiency (Obasi, et al., 2006) and thus it is seen as the dominant paradigm of strategic
implementation (Hendry, 1990). Porter (1980) realized that strategies could be divided initially
into three categories: 1)Cost leadership 2)Differentiation 3)Focus His updated framework instead
comprehends four groups, as depicted in figure 1. Later on, the focus strategies were divided in
two variants (Hendry, 1990). The main aim of the model is to enable firms to achieve long term
sustainable competitive advantage by being different from their competitors (Dobson, et al., 2004).
Figure 1. Porter s Model of Generic Strategies (Michail, 2011) The notion underlying the concepts
of generic strategies is that firms implement it to gain competitive advantage over its rivals, by
achieving above average performance, leading to higher

Is Huck Finn Effective
Huck Finn : Effectiveness of Character Mark Twain of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn presents a
main character, Huck, an orphan who grew up in an abusive home environment. Huck demonstrates
his will to survive in spite of these difficulties through his mental strength and knowledge. His
nature, lacking in sophistication or understanding of the world around him, allows him to
effectively narrate and also receive admiration from others. Huck s individualistic, as opposed to
conformist, mentality makes him effective at conveying the story s message. In the novel, Huck
appears naive of the world around him; he does not demonstrate awareness of the possible
consequences of helping out a black man during his time period, freeing him up to follow

The Causes And Outline Of The American Revolution
The American Revolution I.Introduction Beginning in 1775 and ending with a peace treaty in
1783 The American Revolution allowed the 13 colonies to break free from Britain and become
the U.S. They were helped by the French who were so inspired it pushed them to carry out their
plans to revolt as well. II.Background Some causes of the war have been around since the British
first settled. Because the colonies were so far away it took months for news from Britain to reach
them they saw self government as a right when Britain had such a loose reign over them That all
changed when the British controlled all of the land from the Appalachians to the Mississippi River

H.The Surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown The end of the war was sudden. British General
Lord Cornwallis marched north to Virginia to follow an American force under the Frenchman
the Marquis de Lafayette. He failed with Lafayette but occupied Yorktown. There, on the
peninsula formed by the York and James rivers, Cornwallis fortified his troops. Washington saw
an opportunity and Admiral François de Grasse of the French navy agreed to help. He used his
fleet to stop a British escape by sea while Washington, with a French and colonial army of 16,000
men, faced Cornwallis on land. There was no battle, but Cornwallis was trapped. He surrendered
his army on 19 October 1781. V.Establishment of the New Nation The final peace treaty (the Treaty
of Paris) was signed on 3 September 1783 in France. The treaty accepted the United States as an
independent nation and set the western boundary at the Mississippi River and Britain kept control
of Canada, which opened, up the lands beyond the Appalachian Mountains, and settlers poured into
the region. At the same time, states set up governments and the country began to establish the

Charles Mingus was a jazz bassist, composer, bandleader, also was the one of the most important
figures in twentieth century. He was born in Nogales, Arizona in 1922 raised in Watts, California.
In his life, he was continued to develop the bop and blues. His compositions ranged wildly in mood
and dynamics, from puntillistic counterpoint to massive Wagner ian explosions and was the first jazz
musician since Ellington who could compete with classical composers . His earliest musical
inspiration was influenced by hearing the works of Duck Ellington and singing, such as church

Blanding Turtle Research Paper
The Blanding turtle are freshwater medium sized turtle usually found in The Great Lakes
Regions in USA and in Canada. They are from the omnivorous species and usually eat crayfish,
small animals, and plants. Their life histories traits occurs between April and November, as May
and April tend to be more for mating and Early June for nesting. Less than half of these females
will actually go on to reproducing. Many of these turtles can actually live up to sixty to a hundred
years in age. Though these turtles spend a majority of time in the aquatics they also come on to the
mainland. This is were the problem starts to occur and this is why the Blanding sea turtles are
currently threatened and may soon be extinct. It is because of us humans that these species are
currently facing habitat loss, have threatened nesting areas, and are unable to get from nesting areas
to the lakes because of manmade roads. Why should we as humans care so much if these Blanding

Blanding turtles cannot just live in any lake or pond, they require unique freshwater habitat.
These turtles cannot move far so the nesting areas and mainland have to be close by. In order to
find the right nesting areas some Blanding s turtles do have to cross roads. Female s turtles are
the ones that have to cross the roads to get to the nesting sites if cars are hitting many female
turtles then there will be a high mortality rate and the sex ratio will be skewed. The females that
cross the roads will have to go to though habitat patches; this problem involves both landscape
problems and connectivity. Some that do make it to the nesting areas have another danger waiting
for them, predation. Humans are not the only predators of these turtles but so are raccoons, foxes,
and coyotes, which feed on turtle

A Case Plan For Children And Families Essay
According to the Administration for Children Families (2014) case plans are formed by child
protection staff and families who work together to identify goals for the family (Laracuente,
2016). A case plan is a written text that explains why the child is considered to be in need of
protection, it provides a lucid statement of the functions and responsibilities of all participants in
addressing the child s care and security needs (Laracuente, 2016). Furthermore, a case plan must
also include stipulations that address the child s developmental needs and assist them to gain the
skills and sense of well being that will allow them to realize their ability (McBain, Sedky, Kjerulf,
2010). All activities, discussions, and contact with the child and familywill be guided by the case
plan while it is in effect (McBain, Sedky, Kjerulf, 2010). Case planning is a method used to
provide services that identify needs, sets goals and determines the importance of actions that are
to be taken by a client or the social service worker. Case planning can, therefore; be described as
the process of assessment, organizing, and advocacy for options and services to meet an individual
s needs through communication and available resources (McBain, Sedky, Kjerulf, 2010).Often the
goals of the case planning focus on maximizing children s safety and diminishing their risk of
harming the purpose of the ongoing intervention, outcomes, and actions required to achieve the
goals (Laracuente, 2016).

The Godfather Violence
The Godfather (1972) is a one of a kind film. I consider it one of the best American classics. This
film has it all from amazing action scenes that have you on the edge of your seat wanting to know
what is going to happen next. The film also includes incredible famous actors, which includes
Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, and James Cann among many others. Throughout the filmthe main
theme of the film overall is violence. It is either really happening in a scene or it is being talked
about between the characters in the film. But in my opinion it all this violence that makes this film
a classic. The Godfathers opening scene is of a man ask for the help of Don Vito Corleone. Hey

got shot was because he had refused Sollozzo s offer. In that same time Sollozzo manages to

scene contains a lot of emotional appeal towards Don Corleone, even though he is a mob boss,

Keats composes in his poem, ...and I should feel a damp a chill as from a tomb (Poertryworld). The
speaker makes his opinion obvious to the reader about his dislike for religion and finds it a vault for
where his beliefs would go to die. In other lines such as, The church bells toll a melancholy round

those lines, the speaker further points out his resistance to religion and what people will do for
religion such as, pull away from what makes them happy.
In the sonnet Written in Disgust of Vulgar Superstition by Keats, he attacks the church for how
they conduct themselves and behave. As a romantic he refuses to believe in the existence of an all

Using Porous Organometallic Compounds For Various Material...
Introduction
In the past century extensive research has been conducted on porous organometallic compounds
for use in various material applications. Although numerous compounds containing Lewis bases,
such as nitriles and bipyridines and have been reported to be successful at the sorption of small
molecules, the desorption of the guest often leads to structural collapse of the host. 1,2 Metal
organic frameworks (MOFs) have shown to be a valuable class of newer materials that can support
permanent porosity upon the evacuation of the framework. Unlike zeolites, which are fully
inorganic, the flexibility in the choice of the organic linker comprising the backbone of the MOF
structure makes the size of the poragen formed tunable for a wider ... Show more content on

One of the original and still most active fields of research in metal organic frameworks is in gas
separation. While the ability of both rigid and flexible MOFs to adsorb is based on such factors
as geometry of the gas as well as sorbate sorbent interactions, flexible MOFs are also dependent on
structural rearrangements and the ability of the pore to change with thermodynamic conditions.
Currently, most MOF investigations into gas separation are conducted by measuring the sorption
and desorption of specific gases and relating isothermic data. MOFs are being looked to as next
generation gaseous adsorbent materials in both industrial and environmental applications.9 One
particular gas that is of growing environmental concern is CO2. As a byproduct of human created
combustion activities, particularly in developed nations, the need to capture and sequester CO2 is
becoming ever more apparent. In order to adsorb CO2, a metal organic framework must be
functionalized for high selectivity towards the gas as well as possess the necessary enthalpy of
adsorption. MOFs with open cation sites such as MOF 74 derivatives, as well as those containing
amine functional groups are especially useful.10 The

3d Printing Is Changing The World
3D printing is changing the world we live in today. Business Insider calls 3D printing The Next
Industrial Revolution (Rega). Imagine having the capability of producing any product you want at
your fingertips within minutes; it is now possible because of 3D printing. Simply put, 3D printing
is the process of creating real objects by printing chosen substances layer by layer until the desired
product is made, therefore 3D printingis sometimes referred to as additive manufacturing. There are
endless possibilities with 3D printing from the medical field, to manufacturing, automobiles, to
airplanes, and also personal use. 3D printed objects are going to be an integrated part of everyday
life. Contrary to what you may think, 3D printing is not new. Its roots stem from inkjet printer
concepts. However, instead of printing with ink, it prints with material. The concept of 3D
printing has been around for about 30 years. It inventor Chuck Hull discovered it in 1983. One
day, Hull became frustrated at how long it would take for small plastic parts that he needed for
his job to be manufactured and decided to fix this problem. At the time he was working for a
business that made plastic veneers for tables and other furniture items. They would put this liquid
like substance on objects and then dry it using Ultra Violet (UV) light. Hull got the great idea to
take this liquid substance and the UV light and create 3D images by layering the liquid. Originally

Pop Culture in 1960 s and 1990 s
In comparing the sixties and the nineties, my first thought was how much popular culture has
changed since then and how different society is today. The strange thing is, the more I tried to
differentiate between them, the more similarities I found. Both the sixties and the nineties were
about youth, creativity, free thinking, and expression. With the nineties coming to a close and the
popularity of anything ?retro, I decided to compare the fashions, people, music, and issues that
defined pop culture in the 1960?s and its influence on pop culture in the 1990?s.
In the 1960?s, society was changing by the minute and fashion was ?anything goes?. In the early

As fashion in the 60?s influenced fashion in the 90?s, the spirit of music in the 60?s is present in
the music of the 90?s. Many of the artists popular in the sixties are still major forces in music today.
There is no one genre of music that can define either decade. After the appearance of the Beatles
and the British invasion in the early sixties, music changed and everything before it was all but
swept away. There was surf music from the Beach Boys; folk music from Bob Dylan; R B
influenced music from Motown and the Rolling Stones; and psychedelic music from Jefferson
Airplane and the Doors. In the nineties, many new types of music evolved. These include rap music
and hip hop which came from urban dissatisfaction and unrest, while underground alternative rock
became mainstream. In 1969, the Woodstock music festival embodied the spirit of peace and love.
It was repeated in 1994 and 1999, but unfortunately, the festival in 1999 ended in violence, marring
the essence of the original Woodstock.
Racial tensions, civil rights disturbances, and deeply divided opinions over the American
presence in the Vietnam war, all served to give the sixties a radical edge. People were passionate
about what they believed in and were willing to give their lives, if necessary, to the cause. Young
people became increasingly opposed to the Vietnam war and had a tendency to express their

Machiavelli And Humanism
While the moral codes of Humanism and Catholicism consider being deceitful to be wrong, from
an amoral perspective, betrayal is unavoidable and comes with its own set of benefits. This is
Machiavelli s view in his 1513 work The Prince, in which he details the complexities of gaining
and maintaining political power to his Italian statesman Lorenzo de Medici, from whom he hopes
to regain a political position after shifts in the unstable Florentine republic. Machiavelli argues that
people, particularly political leaders, should have flexible moral codes so that they can bend them

Despite Machiavelli s tongue in cheek perspective, his intentions in writing The Prince exemplify
the two faced nature of mankind. During political upset in Florence, the ruling family betrays
Machiavelli himself by temporarily jailing him for treason, stripping him of his political
position, and banishing him. Yet unlike Dante, who is more personally affected by his exile,
Machiavelli sees Medici family s return to power as an opportunity to regain his own position,
which is why he hopes to impress Lorenzo with The Prince. For him, betrayal is more expected
under the circumstances, and so he hopes to play them at their own game. By feigning loyalty
and kissing up to Lorenzo, Machiavelli improves his chances of obtaining power, even though he
likely doesn t believe everything he s saying. For him, his true intentions or beliefs don t matter
like with religion and betrayal, his deceitfulness is a useful political tool in a world of deceitful
men. With the sixteenth century Florentine power struggle and religious tension, it was difficult for
anyone to find stability. While Machiavelli experienced treachery firsthand through being banned
from Florence, many Florentines could relate to a general lack of loyalty. During a time of
political turmoil, aspiring leaders would have to hurt people in the process of gaining

Trading Eligible Emissions Units in the Carbon Market
Trading Eligible Emissions Units in the Carbon Market
Starting from the Kyoto protocol and culminating in the 2011 Durban agreement, world leaders
have put into motion, a coordinated effort to save the world through concerted actions by their
countries to reduce the carbon emissions. The reason for this agreement was the perspective that
the world will not survive at the rate of the present emissions. Hence, the World Congress is has no
option but to act strongly on these lines. The Kyoto protocol has extracted promises from the
member nations about the extent to which they will guarantee to reduce carbon emissions by the
year 2020. The experts are continuously calculating the impact of global warming on diverse
situations in life, while the businessmen are calculating how it will impact their strategies for the
future (Alen, D.S., 2012).
In this combined endeavor to address the problem of global warming, there is now this effort to
invest strongly on the green energy sources from the sun and the wind, etc., that can safely replace
the conventional source of power, without the exploitation of the carbon product, and thereby,
reduce the carbon emissions greatly. On the other hand, carbon footprints are also enhanced greatly
by the concerted effort of the member countries to increase their forests and agricultural areas.
From this was born carbon credit (Alen, D.S., 2012).

Americ Land Of The Free, And Home
America: land of the free, and home of the brave. People have often traveled long and far to live in
a safe, and esteemed environment, when in reality the core values of America change as time goes
by. Even though Americans often value individualism, patriotism, nationalism, and individual
liberty, history has proven otherwise. Wars, social norms, rightsrestrictions, expectations and peer
pressure have gotten in the way of the values that many believed highlighted America. The saying,
history repeats itself has haunted the future of America greatly. As the years go by, individual
freedom is minimized, and citizens are slowly conned into the conformist society that many live in
today. The definition of success in itself has changed for the worse; changing from knowledge and
efficiency to materialism and wealth. Even though many have become prominent victims of
conformity and have been deprived of their individual rights in the past, the American value of
patriotism, individual liberty and individualismshould stand strong in the hearts of Americans now
and in the near future. Americans in the past have developed a strong attachment to promoting their
love for their country. In this decade, national pride has increased dramatically. From billboards to
bumper stickers outlining America s greatness, to national anthems being sung at each and every
game. Citizens value their love and devotion to the extent of it being perceived as wrong.

Analysis Of Alexandre Dumas s The Count Of Monte Cristo
The events in one s life greatly impacts the acquired disposition that one will possess. In Alexandre
Dumas novel, The Count of Monte Cristo, an innocent man by the name of Edmond Dantes is
found guilty of treason during the time of Napoleon. He is then sent to the ChГўteau d If, a state
prison, where he will reside for the next fourteen years. There he meets the Abbe Faria, an aged
priest who, by information of Dantes jailer, is supposedly insane. He asks to be taken under the
wing of the Abbe and in doing so, he is provided with a knowledge like no other. Upon escaping the
ChГўteau d If, he inherits the Faria s wealth and dedicates his life to destroying the lives of those
who had framed him. Edmond Dantes personal character transforms for the worse as the novel
furthers and he loses leniency, gains wisdom and love, and finds understanding. Dantes becomes
absorbed in carrying out his revenge against those who wronged him that his clemency begins to
fade. It is not until after the suicide of Fernand Mondego, nor is it when the sanity of Villefort
has been depleted, does he realize the actions he has committed. Monte Cristo turned pale at the
frightful sight. Realizing that he has passed beyond the bounds of vengeance, he felt he could
no longer say, God is for and with me (Dumas 567). After viewing the lifeless body of Baron
Danglar s son, he finally becomes conscious of all the tragedy and disaster he has caused. He loses

Causes Of Failure Of Independence
There are many cause of the failure of war independence 1857. They can be divided in many
religious, economic , and social problems The East India Company was aiming to annex all the
states of India like Avadh, Tanjore, Jhansi, Satara, etc. That s why they introduced systems like
Doctrine of Lapse by which Indian states could be taken over by the Company in case there was
no male heir to the throne of the state. This provoked the rulers like Nana Sahib, the adopted son
of Peshwa and Lakshmi Bai, the Rani of Jhansi. The Company also declared that after the death of
the then Mughal emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar, his family had to move out of the Red Fort and his
successors were also forbidden to use the title of emperor. All these attempts alienated both Hindu
and Muslim Indians who realized that the White men were intending to devour... Show more

British soldiers. There was no coordination between different regions of unrest and no attempts
were made to bring their strengths together. Some local leaders even helped the British in the war
e.g. the ruler of Kashmir sent 2000 troops on the British side. However, there were also some other
reasons for the failure of the war.
The sudden outbreak of 1857 war had no defined goals or planning. Different groups were fighting
for different causes. Most of the Muslims wanted to restore the Mughal ruler, Bahadur Shah Zafar,
but Hindus and Sikhs were not ready to fight for restoring the Muslim Mughal Empire. Many
princes were interested in regaining their own feudal powers. A good number of ordinary people

The First Evolution Of Astronomy
Astronomy is one of the oldest sciences which is the study of celestial objects, the physics ,
chemistry, evolutions and especially in the discovery and observation of transient phenomena that
originate outside the Earth.
Astronomy has seen 3 scientific revolutions in cosmology. The first evolution is initiated by
Claudius Ptolemy in the 2nd Century uses the Physics of Aristotle to demonstrate the model of
Earth centered cosmology. At that time , we had to use different laws for Earth and the cosmos
which was not unified. Ptolemy s system predicts planet locations precisely in hundred years until
the European Renaissance ( XVI and XVII ), due to the contributions of Issac Newton, Johannes
Kepler and Galileo Galilei in physics, Heliocentric (Sun centered) model was initiated by Nicolaus
Copernicus was then being accepted. Recently, by the developments of technology and the
breakthrough of modern physics, Edwin Hubble had succeeded in publishing a new theory : Big
Bang Theory(based on the Physics of Einstein).
Observations on the expansion of the universe is one of the prerequisites for building up the model
of the evolution of the universe s most widely recognized today, the Big Bang model.

The World Of The Asia Pacific War
The Asia Pacific War was like many other wars; it had an enormous impact on the world, but in
Japan and the United States it affected the way of life. Japanese American soldiers had to overcome
and withstand racism and hostility during this time from the Americans. People were wary of
Japanese Americans fighting for the United States, because it was the Japanese of whom the
Americans were fighting against. After the war, propaganda films were made to convince people
of a specific political point of influence throughout the war. Two propaganda films that were made
about the Asia Pacific War were Go for Broke and Know Your Enemy.
Before I discuss the films and what differences were between the films, I want to discuss what
led to the Asia Pacific War. The Asia Pacific War began, because the Japanese tried expanding in
East Asia. Japanese invasions began with the Manchuria in 1931 and continued for over a decade.
The Japanese were increasingly looking to expand southward, because of Hitler s presence.
Eventually Japan, Germany, and Italy had signed the Tripartite Pact together, which created a
military alliance between them, known as the Axis. The United States did not feel threatened by the
Japanese and their alliance, but they imposed economic instability on Japan. Due to the lack of oil
in Japan, the country had stiffened. Most importantly, it drove Japan to attack Pearl Harbor. The
attack severely damaged the American fleet in the Harbor, preventing the Americans for

The Rocking-Horse Winner
The world has always been full of hatred, war, and strife, but the one thing holding us together is
love. One of the main concepts to happiness is being loved and loving others. In my 17 years of
living, I have seen and experienced love on multiple occasions. The love a couple has for each
other. A loveof God. A love of friends and family. Even the love a pet has for it s owner. A love
that sticks out the most is the love a parent has for their child and vice versa. The famous novelist,
poet, playwright, essayist, literary critic and painter, David Lawrence, wrote the short story The
Rocking HorseWinner , which digs deeper in the concept of love. The narrative begins with a

The Rocking Horse Winner , Paul knew that the derby was coming up, so he rode the rocking

rocking horse, the more money he would make, to please his mother. He was so stressed about

Attempts to Connect in Joyce Carol Oates Shopping Essay
Attempts to Connect in Shopping
Although Shopping, written by Joyce Carol Oates, is fiction, the story portrays a relationship that
represents many parents and children have in real life. The child is growing up and wants to spread
her wings. However, the parent usually does not want to let go. Arguments and the awkward
silences are frequent. The seemingly useless attempts to connect with the son or daughter are also
frequent. Yet, what the child does not realize is that no matter how old she may get, she is still the
parent s child. The mother is not going to forget how precious her little baby is, yet that is what the
mother does in this story. Oates uses references to pregnancy to portray the relationship between

This implies that at previous times, the conversation ended up in an argument. Nowadays, Mrs.
Dietrich just does not say a word, as if she is afraid that an argument could permanently end that
mother daughter relationship. This awkwardness is apparent throughout the story and prevents
Mrs. Dietrich from opening up to her daughter. Communication is critical if Mrs. Dietrich wants to
bond and achieve a close relationship with her daughter.
Throughout the story, images of pregnancy occur. These references portraythat intimate
relationship between a mother and daughter. Mrs. Dietrich saw herself as a beautiful and
rapturous woman when she was pregnant. She knew it would be a girl and that her baby would
be herself again, reborn and this time perfect (838). She referred to herself as someone who has
failed in life. She saw her daughter as an image of herself, but she did not want her daughter to
live a life of failure like her. She hoped her daughter would not grow to become the type of
person that she disliked. She wanted her to be perfect . Later in the story, while Nola is looking
at herself in the mirror, Mrs. Dietrich again pictures herself as pregnant. She liked how pregnancy
seemed to bring everything to the present tense. Mrs. Dietrich longs to have that feeling of when
she and her daughter were one again (838 9). At the end, Nola begins to cry when she sees an old

The Effects Of Technology On The Environment
While it may be evident that technology is altering many aspects of life, increasing amounts of
evidence declare that technology benefits us. While the author s argument makes excellent points,
they believe technology is negatively effecting people s lives. The author demonstrates competence
but lacks rigid evidencedefending his opinionated reasoning. The written article therefore provides
little effectto believing their cause. The author begins their argument by stating information about
an individual who has done countless studies on how learning and technology coexist. However,
the research stated is offered little background. It leads the reader to believe that the studies
unquestionably proved negative effects of technology effecting learning behavior. The author
declares that the studies were on individual classrooms, this leads to many questions on how

states, Multiple studies of violent media games have shown that they can produce many negative

incorrect it is. Since technology started becoming a keen part of everyday lives, there has been

Social Constructivist Leadership
Abstract
The Making of a Leader: A Phenomenological Study of the Lived Experiences of Women Who

Katrina L. Jackson, Ed.D.
Drexel University, May 2015
Chairperson: Kathy D. Geller
Women in the position of president at U.S. colleges and universities have defied the odds. Since the
1980s, the number of women presidents in colleges and universities has grown, increasing from
9.5% in 1986 to only 26.0% in 2011. Although the percentage of women presidents of these
institutions has increased, there is still an underrepresentation of women in the role of president

Social constructivism is a worldview that argues that the nature of reality is based on the individual
and his or her beliefs and experiences. Gergen (1985) stated, From the constructionist position the
process of understanding is not automatically driven by the forces of nature, but is the result of an
active, cooperative enterprise of persons in relationship (p. 267). This perspective acknowledges
historical and cultural biases as primary influences on the construction of an individual s worldview
and suggests that Descriptions and explanations of the world themselves constitute forms of social
action (Gergen, 1985, pp. 267 268). As a social constructivist, I recognize that when people tell
stories of their lived experiences, certain phrases may be expressed through body movements, facial
expressions, and gestures, and these actions further illuminate what the individual is
communicating (Gergen, 1985). Using the social constructivist paradigm helps the researcher better
understand the world in which each individual participant

One of the main points of the Vietnam Veterans memorial was that it had to have 57,000 names
on it. So the architect, Maya Lin, decided that she was going to make a crack in the earth, and
put up slabs of stones covered in the names of the people who sacrificed their lives. In the article
she says, I wanted my design to work with the land, to make something with the site, not to fight

list as frequently visited for me just are simply just Americanized Mexican restaurants and
definitely do not qualify as places that stay true to the Mexican culture. Therefore, for this
global experience, I decided to make a visit to an authentic Mexican restaurant named Taqueria
Marias and it honestly was worth the wait. Deciding to share this experience, I took two of my
friends along with me and we shared a lunch at the small restaurant. Almost immediately after
entering we noticed that the restaurant was incredibly lively, the tables were full, everyone was
talking and laughing loudly, and the waiters never stopped smiling as they ran from table to
table at breakneck speed. The energy was amazing, unlike any other restaurant I have ever been

with a rice and beans for the table and I ordered a vegetarian El Mixteco Burrito for myself. The

delicious. Additionally, it was quite interesting to see that the waiters were having conversations

Done well, the S OP process also enables effective supply chain management. However, what we
have observed in Gabriel is that excessive dependence on platforms like SAP ERP 6.0 have made
the process totally system driven in nature. They have their own advantages and disadvantages. On
one hand, all the plans get generated automatically by the system and users are required only to

Pain is an experience that involves both the mind and the body. It is an uncomfortable feeling that

either cause, increase, or decrease painful sensations.
There are two types of pain, acute pain and chronic pain.
Acute pain is a short lasting pain, which can be easily described and observed. Acute pain begins
suddenly and is a sharp pain. It s a warning of a disease or a threat to the body. Acute pain might
be just mild and may last for a moment, or it may be severe and last for weeks or months. Acute
pain does not last longer than 6 months. If the pain lasts longer than 6 months than it may proceed
on to chronic pain.
Chronic pain tends to affect a person s whole life including a change in their personality, the
activities they used to

A Route Through A Maze
Solution 1,
The solution for Problem Set 1, required a route through a maze. Elkner et al. (2010) suggested that,
A program is a sequence of instructions that specifies how to perform a computation. Given this
information, it was concluded that rules and disciplines were required in order for the knight to
understand and process any instructions given to it. Having prior knowledge that the knight would
foremost, need a full understanding of movement as a program platform, it was evaluated, that
rotational 360o axis was attached as a second layer to the maze, this accommodated to calculate
how many degrees the knight would need to turn as it progressed through the maze; leaving an
understanding of full movement understanding (see Appendix C).
A solution to this was to complete and record all of the movements in a Microsoft Excel chart.
The chart would record how many movements the knight would have to take, how many steps
were required, whether to turn left 90o or turn right 90o and movements up or down. The decision
was also made to declare that each square the knight had completed, would be recorded as 1 step
and whether the knight turned or moved multiple steps, each procedure would be recorded as 1
movement (see Appendix A).
Using this method, I created a cognitive solution or pathway to a complex maze. Its simplicity
produced a visual instruction on which directional momentum or pivot the knight would need to
move in order to reach the Princess in the centre of

Development Of A Forest That Is Dominated By Sugar Maple
Abstract
Students conducted research relating to mechanisms of coexistence within a forest that is
dominated by sugar maple (Acer saccharum) compared to beech (Fagus grandifolia). The objective
of the study was to test three hypotheses relating to competition within trees, maintenance along
with regeneration of sugar maple and beech within Warren Woods, located in Michigan, IL. The
first evaluated whether or not highly despotic forms of lottery completion was present, in which a
few trees ever achieve canopy. Second, in response to competition, canopy trees were evaluated in
terms of being uniformly or randomly distributed within their unique environment. Third, evidence
of tradeoffs as both types of trees make their way up to a canopy was assessed. From the plots
established and analyzing through density and frequency, students examined that sugar maple was
more abundant, viewed in large fractions among the sub canopy classes. Beech may have had a
lower frequency, yet it had a higher density in Warren Woods. Evidence suggested that there was a
lottery competition taking place in the forest, as seen by the number of seedlings being higher than
saplings, which are greater than sub canopies, which are greater than canopies. The evaluation of
the understory environment determined that a mechanism of coexistence, between both species,
was evident since the number of canopies was higher than that of sub canopies. Each class appears
to coexist well with one another while

A Study On A Wave Amplitude And Positive Panss Scores
Balogh et al. (2008) was the first group to our knowledge that correlated clinical parameters to
ERG findings. They found a significant negative relationship between a wave amplitude and
positive PANSS scores at the baseline assessment (r=в€’0.51, p800mg/day, several case reports
noted changes at lower doses. Melleril was discontinued worldwide in June, 2005 due to concerns
regarding increased risk of cardiac arrhythmias and sudden death.
4. Discussion
4.1 Possible mechanisms
4.1.1 Omega 3 FA Omega 3 fatty aciddepletion has been proposed mechanism for ERG
abnormalities in schizophrenic patients. Specifically, docosohexaenoic acid (DHA) is found in
high concentrations in the central nervous system, with the highest levels found in the outer
segments of photoreceptors in the retina. There have been reports of significantly lower levels of
essential fatty acids in the red blood cells of schizophrenic patients treated with neuroleptics and
increased breakdown of membrane phospholipids in drug naГЇve schizophrenic patients using
magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Previous studies have demonstrated reduced brain omega 3 fatty
acid levels in schizophrenia, with demonstrated abnormalities in ERG. More recent research has
investigated the possible relationship between omega 3 fatty acids and the dopamine hypothesis
(which is discussed in more detail below). Quantitative changes in n 3 fatty acids have been shown
to have quantitative effects in dopamine concentration and amount of

The Economic Crisis in Eurozone
With the impending Presidential election consuming the American news cycle, major media outlets
and the general public alike have neglected a growing crisis within one of the world s most
important centers of commerce and culture. Despite the domestic rancor over stimulus packages,
runaway debt and rampant unemployment which has inspired fierce political debate here in
America, the fact remains that many European countries have borne the brunt of the global
recession currently decimating national economies. The so called Euro Zone, a consortium of 17
neighboring nations which belong to the European Union(EU) and have adopted the Euro as their
common currency, has experienced unimaginable financial disarray during the last decade. In the
modern age of globalized economic structures, the increasing instability emanating from European
markets is now threatening to spread to Asia, America and around the world. Initially envisioned as
a confederation of member states collaborating together for mutual benefit, the EU and its 27
member nations established a single integrated market with the goal of facilitating trade and
international commerce. With the introduction of the Euro across the Eurozone, this monetary
system has proven to be unsustainable given the region s traditional reliance on entitlement
programs and social assistance. With federal budgets stretched to their limit, the debtcrisis has
already spread through Greece, Ireland and Portugal, all of which have

Case 1 Risk and Rates of Return
Divisional hurdle rates Financial management and policy Case 1, week 2 University of Maastricht
Faculty of Economics and Business Administration Maastricht, 5th of November 2003 Danner, W.I

Subgroup number: 1 Tutor: B. Pavlov Introduction Randolph Corporation is a multidivisional
company. Due to frictions among the divisions, Randolph s stock has not performed according to
expectations. In order to improve Randolph s financial situation and position among its competitors,
a number of questions need to be answered. We will discuss these questions separately below.
Question 1: Estimate the divisional hurdle rates,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Is there a theoretical foundation for it? In general, differentiation in hurdle rates between
projects with different types of risks is preferable. If all projects with different types of risk will
have the same hurdle rates, managers would probably choose the most risky project, due to
higher expected returns. This in turn would also drive the divisional beta up. Therefore, it
seems to be justified to make a distinction in hurdle rates depending on the level of risk involved.
That means that managers also take projects with lower risk into consideration. However, it
cannot be said with certainty if the adjustment factors need to be exactly 0.9 or 1.2.
Nevertheless, the spread between the adjustment factors should not be too wide, in order not to
neglect profitable projects or accept unprofitable ones. Question 4: Ceramic Coatings division
returns exceed the risk adjusted hurdle rate, which means that the growth rate exceeds the
corporate average. What effect does this have on the corporate beta and the overall costs of
capital? In order to answer the question a numerical example will be provided. In table 2 the
original data are reproduced (Ceramic Coatings product of percentage of corporate assets times
estimated divisional beta = 0,10 * 0,95 = 0,095 = this reduces weighted average corporate beta to
0,795). |Division

It Should Be Mandatory that All Security Guards Be Armed...
Other than police officers there are now security guards at just about every corner figuratively
speaking. Security guards spend their time guarding buildings and garages around the clock, day
and night. Most of these guards are assigned to work cites alone where there is no other
employees or supervisors present. When security guards are thought of one of the most popular
thing that comes to most peoples mind is they are rental cops. Private security faces many
possible dangers and they can become part of a violent situation at any given moment. . Without
fire arms all they have is a outfit that displays a badge and their title. To most criminals it is merely
a joke. Security guards put their lives in potential danger to protect... Show more content on

That unarmed guard would not be able to stop the robber from putting a bullet through the bank
employees or the bank costumers, nor would the guard be able to stop him from robbing the
place. On the other hand if that guard who was standing in the corner would have been armed it
would be a lot more intimidating. The sight of the fire arm on the guards waist may make the
criminal think twice. If at that point the criminal would over look the guard and proceed to rob
the place, the guard could then put the skills he learned through his training to use. He/she could
possible stop the criminal before any harm came to anyone. Another example of dangerous
location guards have to patrol is parking garage. In Dayton Ohio most big garages have private
security guarding the places throughout the night when it is suppose to be empty. Guards are
their to keep criminals and homeless people out. Within the Sinclair library database there is a
article about a female guard. She was working in a Dayton Ohio parking garage next to city hall
in 2010 and was viciously attacked. This guard was unarmed and brutally beaten by two people
while on duty there. While the article the city spokesmen talks about the security guards safety.
Faulkner said last weeks incident emphasizes the need to properly match the level of security to a
specific location. (Wedell) The security company who has the contract with garage refused to
comment on that incident. Every location a

Keith Dubois Double Consciousness Essay
Before Du Bois brought the term double consciousness to light, there was no way to describe
such an unspoken phenomenon. In W.E.B. Du Bois The Souls of Black Folk (1903) he
introduces and describes how African Americans and their history have been shaped by the state
of living in and wanting to overcome double consciousness. Du Bois perfectly describes double
consciousness in African Americans as living behind a veil. The veil is bittersweet and produces
a second sight in America. From one perspective, the veil is a curse. On the contrast, it is what
has made African Americans what they are today. In Du Bois own words, double consciousness is
a sense of always looking at one s self through the eyes of others, of measuring one s... Show more

His impromptu face and demeanor are now permanent, and his only option to be slightly
comfortable around ignorant white coworkers. Himes gives the idea that everything a colored
man does revolves around have a double conscious. Keith Richards is married to twenty three
year old Clara. Clara and Richards are deeply in love but the relationship is already hanging by a
thread. Himes comments If I really loved, baby, I would blow out your brains. Right now!
Because all you can ever look forward to, baby, is never having anything you ever dream about.
(Himes, 26) This is how detrimental the psychological effects are in Richards. At this point in
the story Richards can almost be labeled as a pessimist with such an amount of stunning and
depressing statements. Himes ends this short story with an optimistic thought of his pride being
priceless with him working for the Army. The value of his pride, and being prepared to do
anything to keep it is what brought Keith Richards thus far. Dick, a nicknamed he d have for
years, in Headwaiter is exactly that. This restaurant Dick works in, is inside of a high scale hotel
that houses mainly upper class white families. In comparison to Keith Richards, Dick has more of
an understanding in his struggles with having a double conscious. He knew discrimination, he
took it in, and understood it. He knew he had a double conscious and used it for his own gain. That

What difference will it make to investors and creditors if after the acquisition the acquiring
company has long term liabilities exceeding $4 billion and equity of about $500 million? Will the
company be able to cover the debt service? How can you know? How significant will the next
several interim financial statements be? What is the current position of this company? Some
companies in the past used leverage advantageously. In a similar situation, a major retailer filed
under the bankruptcy laws. The company s stock currently trades at about 6.5 time earnings. What
factors entered into this price earnings ratio? Consider the two cases which have just been
presented. If you were an investor in these companies, how would you evaluate this information?
What action might you take? Are there any significant factors about the financial statements of
these companies you might want to examine more thoroughly? To interpret this information, a
serious investor or creditor must be able to read, interpret, and analyze financial statements.

Importance Of B Tree
B TREES
B tree is a tree data structure that keeps data sorted and allows searches, insertions, and deletions

Their Eyes Were Watching God Feminist Analysis Feminism and Their Eyes Were Watching God Author Zora Neale Hurston s novel Their Eyes Were Watching God, is viewed as one of the greatest examples of feminist literature. The protagonist in the novel, Janie, embodies multiple characteristics of a feminist. By deploying multiple elements of feminism in Their Eyes Were Watching God , Author Zora Neale Hurstonreveals to readers the struggles women went through in the progressive era, and through the creation of the Character Josie, also reveals how feminists combated the struggles of this time. While married to Tea Cake, Janie gains confidence as a feminist and moves away from southern women s traditional roles. These roles included being passive, proper, and demure (Mageland). Janie knew that this type of life was not for her, and had the courage to stray away from this lifestyle. After Janie marries Tea Cake, she returns to her hometown, and citizens immediately notice the change she has made in her life. What she doin coming back here in dem overhalls? Can t she find no dress to put on? Where s dat blue satin dress she left here in? (Hurston, 191). The woman on the porch in Janie s hometown are mortified to see that Janie is acting in such a way that goes completely against their traditional ideals. However, Janie refuses to conform to society s norms for women, and continues to act as a true feminist would by wearing the clothing that is desired by herself and not by her community. Janie s ultimate goal is to appear and act as a natural woman. She has grown tired of acting in accordance with a set of societal rules, and simply wants to be herself. Janie symbolizes this realization by letting her hair down out of the pony tail that Jody forced her to wear, along with wearing her overalls instead of a dress. It is these restrictions that Jody placed on Janie that caused her to feel no remorse after his death, but instead freedom: Tain t dat Ah worries over Joe s death. Ah jus loves dis freedom. (Hurston, 93). Jody s death does not bring sadness to Janie, however it causes her to feel liberated. She does not desire to marry another man like Jody who is seen as proper , and enjoys not having a man telling her how to act. Furthermore, Janie foreshadows her marrying of Tea Cake in chapter three when she tells Nanny that she wants things sweet wid mah marriage lak when you sit under a pear tree ... • 3. A Triumphant Ending For The Hero All villains are antagonists but not all antagonists are villains, It has been established in classic literature that the purpose of a villain sis to create a triumphant ending for the hero. In Jules Vern s, Around the world in Eight Days, the antagonist possesses much more than simply being the bad guy in pursuance of the protagonist to impede their clichГ© happy ending. Detective Fix, as tenacious and stubborn as he is, offers much more than an antagonistwho is fated to meet his doom in the end. Fix exists to drive the plot; diverting the sequence of events to satisfy his interests, rather than existing as a complement to valor. Without his efforts, the account of journey is predictable, depriving the readers of suspense and anticipation towards the story s conclusion. His endeavor throughout the narrative was to arrest the famed robber who he believes is Fogg. Although being a part of journey, he showed the complexity of his disposition. A reader must overlook all the misdeeds and maliciousness Fix had performed in order to observe him beyond the image classic literature portrays antagonist, Verne develops complexity within Detective Fix as he is a flawed man who struggles to recognize his sense of morality because of false determination and greed. (Thesis) The misdeeds and inadequacy Detective fix performed throughout the novel come from his captivity from his own pride and vanity. He holds great pride because of the authority that his profession bestows him, His ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Rapport Between A Firm s Strategy And Its Overall... The term strategy is widely used in the business environment. A strategy is used to decide and achieve business objectives. The rapport between a firm s strategy and its overall performance is the key focus in strategic management. Kay (2000) believes that nowadays it is impossible to plan and predict the future, he argues that strategy has become the influencing of a firms market positioning. A myriad of models to analyse strategic choices have been described by scholars (Hambrick Fredrickson, 1996).In the early 1980s, Michael Porter s presented his model of generic strategies. Since then, it has been one of the most used methods due to its high efficiency (Obasi, et al., 2006) and thus it is seen as the dominant paradigm of strategic implementation (Hendry, 1990). Porter (1980) realized that strategies could be divided initially into three categories: 1)Cost leadership 2)Differentiation 3)Focus His updated framework instead comprehends four groups, as depicted in figure 1. Later on, the focus strategies were divided in two variants (Hendry, 1990). The main aim of the model is to enable firms to achieve long term sustainable competitive advantage by being different from their competitors (Dobson, et al., 2004). Figure 1. Porter s Model of Generic Strategies (Michail, 2011) The notion underlying the concepts of generic strategies is that firms implement it to gain competitive advantage over its rivals, by achieving above average performance, leading to higher ... • 13. A Case Plan For Children And Families Essay According to the Administration for Children Families (2014) case plans are formed by child protection staff and families who work together to identify goals for the family (Laracuente, 2016). A case plan is a written text that explains why the child is considered to be in need of protection, it provides a lucid statement of the functions and responsibilities of all participants in addressing the child s care and security needs (Laracuente, 2016). Furthermore, a case plan must also include stipulations that address the child s developmental needs and assist them to gain the skills and sense of well being that will allow them to realize their ability (McBain, Sedky, Kjerulf, 2010). All activities, discussions, and contact with the child and familywill be guided by the case plan while it is in effect (McBain, Sedky, Kjerulf, 2010). Case planning is a method used to provide services that identify needs, sets goals and determines the importance of actions that are to be taken by a client or the social service worker. Case planning can, therefore; be described as the process of assessment, organizing, and advocacy for options and services to meet an individual s needs through communication and available resources (McBain, Sedky, Kjerulf, 2010).Often the goals of the case planning focus on maximizing children s safety and diminishing their risk of harming the purpose of the ongoing intervention, outcomes, and actions required to achieve the goals (Laracuente, 2016). Although numerous compounds containing Lewis bases, such as nitriles and bipyridines and have been reported to be successful at the sorption of small molecules, the desorption of the guest often leads to structural collapse of the host. 1,2 Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) have shown to be a valuable class of newer materials that can support permanent porosity upon the evacuation of the framework. Unlike zeolites, which are fully inorganic, the flexibility in the choice of the organic linker comprising the backbone of the MOF structure makes the size of the poragen formed tunable for a wider ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the original and still most active fields of research in metal organic frameworks is in gas separation. While the ability of both rigid and flexible MOFs to adsorb is based on such factors as geometry of the gas as well as sorbate sorbent interactions, flexible MOFs are also dependent on structural rearrangements and the ability of the pore to change with thermodynamic conditions. Currently, most MOF investigations into gas separation are conducted by measuring the sorption and desorption of specific gases and relating isothermic data. MOFs are being looked to as next generation gaseous adsorbent materials in both industrial and environmental applications.9 One particular gas that is of growing environmental concern is CO2. As a byproduct of human created combustion activities, particularly in developed nations, the need to capture and sequester CO2 is becoming ever more apparent. In order to adsorb CO2, a metal organic framework must be functionalized for high selectivity towards the gas as well as possess the necessary enthalpy of adsorption. MOFs with open cation sites such as MOF 74 derivatives, as well as those containing amine functional groups are especially useful.10 The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Imagine having the capability of producing any product you want at your fingertips within minutes; it is now possible because of 3D printing. Simply put, 3D printing is the process of creating real objects by printing chosen substances layer by layer until the desired product is made, therefore 3D printingis sometimes referred to as additive manufacturing. There are endless possibilities with 3D printing from the medical field, to manufacturing, automobiles, to airplanes, and also personal use. 3D printed objects are going to be an integrated part of everyday life. Contrary to what you may think, 3D printing is not new. Its roots stem from inkjet printer concepts. However, instead of printing with ink, it prints with material. The concept of 3D printing has been around for about 30 years. It inventor Chuck Hull discovered it in 1983. One day, Hull became frustrated at how long it would take for small plastic parts that he needed for his job to be manufactured and decided to fix this problem. At the time he was working for a business that made plastic veneers for tables and other furniture items. They would put this liquid like substance on objects and then dry it using Ultra Violet (UV) light. Hull got the great idea to take this liquid substance and the UV light and create 3D images by layering the liquid. Originally he called this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pop Culture in 1960 s and 1990 s Essay Pop Culture in 1960 s and 1990 s In comparing the sixties and the nineties, my first thought was how much popular culture has changed since then and how different society is today. The strange thing is, the more I tried to differentiate between them, the more similarities I found. Both the sixties and the nineties were about youth, creativity, free thinking, and expression. With the nineties coming to a close and the popularity of anything ?retro, I decided to compare the fashions, people, music, and issues that defined pop culture in the 1960?s and its influence on pop culture in the 1990?s. Many of the artists popular in the sixties are still major forces in music today. There is no one genre of music that can define either decade. After the appearance of the Beatles and the British invasion in the early sixties, music changed and everything before it was all but swept away. There was surf music from the Beach Boys; folk music from Bob Dylan; R B influenced music from Motown and the Rolling Stones; and psychedelic music from Jefferson Airplane and the Doors. In the nineties, many new types of music evolved. These include rap music and hip hop which came from urban dissatisfaction and unrest, while underground alternative rock became mainstream. In 1969, the Woodstock music festival embodied the spirit of peace and love. It was repeated in 1994 and 1999, but unfortunately, the festival in 1999 ended in violence, marring the essence of the original Woodstock. Racial tensions, civil rights disturbances, and deeply divided opinions over the American presence in the Vietnam war, all served to give the sixties a radical edge. This is Machiavelli s view in his 1513 work The Prince, in which he details the complexities of gaining and maintaining political power to his Italian statesman Lorenzo de Medici, from whom he hopes to regain a political position after shifts in the unstable Florentine republic. Despite Machiavelli s tongue in cheek perspective, his intentions in writing The Prince exemplify the two faced nature of mankind. During political upset in Florence, the ruling family betrays Machiavelli himself by temporarily jailing him for treason, stripping him of his political position, and banishing him. Yet unlike Dante, who is more personally affected by his exile, Machiavelli sees Medici family s return to power as an opportunity to regain his own position, which is why he hopes to impress Lorenzo with The Prince. For him, betrayal is more expected under the circumstances, and so he hopes to play them at their own game. By feigning loyalty and kissing up to Lorenzo, Machiavelli improves his chances of obtaining power, even though he likely doesn t believe everything he s saying. For him, his true intentions or beliefs don t matter like with religion and betrayal, his deceitfulness is a useful political tool in a world of deceitful men. She does not feel that further criminalization of homeless will stop their panhandling and will not promote positive change. Unfortunately, due to the possible loss of funding sources, her employer and other service providers have chosen to publicly support the new law. • 39. A Visit To A Restaurant While it may seem a little strange that I have never been to an authentic Mexican restaurant in my life, there is a perfectly good reason why. Chipotle and On The Border, two restaurants on the list as frequently visited for me just are simply just Americanized Mexican restaurants and definitely do not qualify as places that stay true to the Mexican culture. Therefore, for this global experience, I decided to make a visit to an authentic Mexican restaurant named Taqueria Marias and it honestly was worth the wait. Deciding to share this experience, I took two of my friends along with me and we shared a lunch at the small restaurant. Almost immediately after entering we noticed that the restaurant was incredibly lively, the tables were full, everyone was talking and laughing loudly, and the waiters never stopped smiling as they ran from table to table at breakneck speed. The energy was amazing, unlike any other restaurant I have ever been to which is really saying something. Once we got seated, we ordered a guacamole and chips along with a rice and beans for the table and I ordered a vegetarian El Mixteco Burrito for myself. The foodshowed up in record time despite there being a ton of people and it was nothing short of delicious. Additionally, it was quite interesting to see that the waiters were having conversations with guests at almost every table and even the chef came out to greet everyone and ask about the food. It was a very interactive opportunity. As is well ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They have their own advantages and disadvantages. On one hand, all the plans get generated automatically by the system and users are required only to input data at various levels. On the other hand, at times system itself becomes a hurdle because employees are losing their efficiency in planning and data management. • 41. Pain, Acute Pain And Chronic Pain Pain is an experience that involves both the mind and the body. It is an uncomfortable feeling that signals your brain that there may be something wrong with your body. Pain is an irritating and unpleasant sensory and emotional experience which may be caused by a damage in the tissues, one s beliefs or thoughts, or environmental stressors such as one s job or traffic. Painis a significant stress both physically and emotionally. It may cause discomfort, distress or agony. It may be steady or throbbing. It maybe stabbing, aching or pinching. In the past, many people thought that pain was a result of a damaged tissues. However now the researchers have come to find out that pain is an intricate process that might or might not include tissue damage and most likely involves social, psychological and emotional factors, which can either cause, increase, or decrease painful sensations. There are two types of pain, acute pain and chronic pain. Acute pain is a short lasting pain, which can be easily described and observed. Acute pain begins suddenly and is a sharp pain. It s a warning of a disease or a threat to the body. Acute pain might be just mild and may last for a moment, or it may be severe and last for weeks or months. Acute pain does not last longer than 6 months. If the pain lasts longer than 6 months than it may proceed on to chronic pain. • 42. A Route Through A Maze Solution 1, The solution for Problem Set 1, required a route through a maze. Elkner et al. (2010) suggested that, A program is a sequence of instructions that specifies how to perform a computation. Given this information, it was concluded that rules and disciplines were required in order for the knight to understand and process any instructions given to it. Having prior knowledge that the knight would foremost, need a full understanding of movement as a program platform, it was evaluated, that rotational 360o axis was attached as a second layer to the maze, this accommodated to calculate how many degrees the knight would need to turn as it progressed through the maze; leaving an understanding of full movement understanding (see Appendix C). A solution to this was to complete and record all of the movements in a Microsoft Excel chart. The chart would record how many movements the knight would have to take, how many steps were required, whether to turn left 90o or turn right 90o and movements up or down. The decision was also made to declare that each square the knight had completed, would be recorded as 1 step and whether the knight turned or moved multiple steps, each procedure would be recorded as 1 movement (see Appendix A). Using this method, I created a cognitive solution or pathway to a complex maze. Its simplicity produced a visual instruction on which directional momentum or pivot the knight would need to move in order to reach the Princess in the centre of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Development Of A Forest That Is Dominated By Sugar Maple Abstract Students conducted research relating to mechanisms of coexistence within a forest that is dominated by sugar maple (Acer saccharum) compared to beech (Fagus grandifolia). The objective of the study was to test three hypotheses relating to competition within trees, maintenance along with regeneration of sugar maple and beech within Warren Woods, located in Michigan, IL. The first evaluated whether or not highly despotic forms of lottery completion was present, in which a few trees ever achieve canopy. Second, in response to competition, canopy trees were evaluated in terms of being uniformly or randomly distributed within their unique environment. Third, evidence of tradeoffs as both types of trees make their way up to a canopy was assessed. From the plots established and analyzing through density and frequency, students examined that sugar maple was more abundant, viewed in large fractions among the sub canopy classes. Beech may have had a lower frequency, yet it had a higher density in Warren Woods. Evidence suggested that there was a lottery competition taking place in the forest, as seen by the number of seedlings being higher than saplings, which are greater than sub canopies, which are greater than canopies. The evaluation of the understory environment determined that a mechanism of coexistence, between both species, was evident since the number of canopies was higher than that of sub canopies. Each class appears to coexist well with one another while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Economic Crisis in Eurozone With the impending Presidential election consuming the American news cycle, major media outlets and the general public alike have neglected a growing crisis within one of the world s most important centers of commerce and culture. Despite the domestic rancor over stimulus packages, runaway debt and rampant unemployment which has inspired fierce political debate here in America, the fact remains that many European countries have borne the brunt of the global recession currently decimating national economies. The so called Euro Zone, a consortium of 17 neighboring nations which belong to the European Union(EU) and have adopted the Euro as their common currency, has experienced unimaginable financial disarray during the last decade. In the modern age of globalized economic structures, the increasing instability emanating from European markets is now threatening to spread to Asia, America and around the world. Initially envisioned as a confederation of member states collaborating together for mutual benefit, the EU and its 27 member nations established a single integrated market with the goal of facilitating trade and international commerce. Pavlov Introduction Randolph Corporation is a multidivisional company. Due to frictions among the divisions, Randolph s stock has not performed according to expectations. In order to improve Randolph s financial situation and position among its competitors, a number of questions need to be answered. We will discuss these questions separately below. Question 1: Estimate the divisional hurdle rates,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Is there a theoretical foundation for it? In general, differentiation in hurdle rates between projects with different types of risks is preferable. If all projects with different types of risk will have the same hurdle rates, managers would probably choose the most risky project, due to higher expected returns. This in turn would also drive the divisional beta up. Therefore, it seems to be justified to make a distinction in hurdle rates depending on the level of risk involved. That means that managers also take projects with lower risk into consideration. However, it cannot be said with certainty if the adjustment factors need to be exactly 0.9 or 1.2. Nevertheless, the spread between the adjustment factors should not be too wide, in order not to neglect profitable projects or accept unprofitable ones. Question 4: Ceramic Coatings division returns exceed the risk adjusted hurdle rate, which means that the growth rate exceeds the corporate average. What effect does this have on the corporate beta and the overall costs of capital? In order to answer the question a numerical example will be provided. In table 2 the original data are reproduced (Ceramic Coatings product of percentage of corporate assets times estimated divisional beta = 0,10 * 0,95 = 0,095 = this reduces weighted average corporate beta to 0,795). |Division ... That unarmed guard would not be able to stop the robber from putting a bullet through the bank employees or the bank costumers, nor would the guard be able to stop him from robbing the place. The sight of the fire arm on the guards waist may make the criminal think twice. If at that point the criminal would over look the guard and proceed to rob the place, the guard could then put the skills he learned through his training to use. He/she could possible stop the criminal before any harm came to anyone. Another example of dangerous location guards have to patrol is parking garage. Du Bois The Souls of Black Folk (1903) he introduces and describes how African Americans and their history have been shaped by the state of living in and wanting to overcome double consciousness. Du Bois perfectly describes double consciousness in African Americans as living behind a veil. The veil is bittersweet and produces a second sight in America. From one perspective, the veil is a curse. On the contrast, it is what has made African Americans what they are today.
