TYRE AND BATTERY TRAINING
PROGRAM FOR FLEET MANAGEMENT
•Fleet Management is a function which allows
companies which rely on transportation in business to
remove or minimize the risks associated with vehicle
investment, improving efficiency, productivity and
reducing their overall transportation and staff costs
•These functions can be dealt with by either an in-house
fleet-management department or an outsourced fleet-
management provider.
•Fleet (vehicle) management can include a range of
functions, such as:
-vehicle financing
-vehicle maintenance
-vehicle telematics (tracking and diagnostics)
-driver management
-speed management
-fuel management
-health and safety management.
Major cost elements in a fleet system:
• Fuel
•Tyres
•Spare parts and Wages
Tyre and Battery Management Training
Gives a thorough focus on best tyre management
practices, the information gathered serves as a
platform to determine proactive measures to be taken
to improve tyre management efficiencies according to
operations. Base line is to get a low cost per
kilometer for fleets
The importance of training:
For those who work with fleet operations, training for
vehicle maintenance and tyre care is essential.
•Proper training and qualifications can reduce tyre
operation costs and maximize tyre life, which is vital
for the smooth running of any worksite and can reduce
running costs, in turn improving profits.
•Training also ensures safety on the worksite and
guarantees everyone is working to the same standard.

•The training teaches skills in passenger, 4x4, light
truck and truck tyre maintenance, maximizing tyre life
and how to achieve a low cost per kilometer for your
fleet. Training can be conducted on site or at our
training centre.
Course objectives:
For the general staff in procurement, by the end of the
course, delegates will be able to:
• Explain the basic elements of car tyre technology
•Identify car tyre size markings
•Procure, through an informed perspective,
tyres/rims/batteries for the fleet
•Identification of suitable tyre patterns for different
application
•Have the tyre and battery technical knowledge and
practical skills to support and develop your business.
For the drivers, by the end of the course, delegates
will be able to:
•Explain the basic elements of car tyre technology
•Identify car tyre size markings
•Have the tyre and battery technical knowledge and
practical skills to support and develop your business.
•In addition, the drivers should be able to do pre-trip
inspections, follow good driving habits and report
problems encountered enroute.
For the technicians, by the end of the course, delegates will
be able to:
•Explain the basic elements of car tyre technology.
•Demonstrate how to fit and balance tyres and to carry
out minor repairs.
•Explain the importance of workshop health and safety.
•Improve the efficiency and vehicle throughput in the
workshop.
For the supervisor/fleet manager, by the end of the
course, delegates will be able to:
•Ensure accurate tyre costs are captured.
•Ensure preventable wear on fleet vehicles’ tyres noted early
•Ensure maintenance of vehicles parts is done before parts
‘seize’
•Predict when tyres should be replaced and not based on their
calendar age, police reports or by customer checks.
•Plan for tyre purchases
•Have records of total life of each tyre (first life and retread
lifes)
•Track the wear characteristics of retreaded tyres versus new
tyres
•Calculate and maintain data on cost per kilometer for
tyre/rims for the entire fleet.

Tyre and battery training for fleet management

  • 1. TYRE AND BATTERY TRAINING PROGRAM FOR FLEET MANAGEMENT
  • 2. •Fleet Management is a function which allows companies which rely on transportation in business to remove or minimize the risks associated with vehicle investment, improving efficiency, productivity and reducing their overall transportation and staff costs •These functions can be dealt with by either an in-house fleet-management department or an outsourced fleet- management provider.
  • 3. •Fleet (vehicle) management can include a range of functions, such as: -vehicle financing -vehicle maintenance -vehicle telematics (tracking and diagnostics) -driver management -speed management -fuel management -health and safety management.
  • 4. Major cost elements in a fleet system: • Fuel •Tyres •Spare parts and Wages
  • 5. Tyre and Battery Management Training Gives a thorough focus on best tyre management practices, the information gathered serves as a platform to determine proactive measures to be taken to improve tyre management efficiencies according to operations. Base line is to get a low cost per kilometer for fleets
  • 6. The importance of training: For those who work with fleet operations, training for vehicle maintenance and tyre care is essential. •Proper training and qualifications can reduce tyre operation costs and maximize tyre life, which is vital for the smooth running of any worksite and can reduce running costs, in turn improving profits. •Training also ensures safety on the worksite and guarantees everyone is working to the same standard.
  • 7. What we offer: •Our training services can provide a range of training solutions to meet any client needs. •The training teaches skills in passenger, 4x4, light truck and truck tyre maintenance, maximizing tyre life and how to achieve a low cost per kilometer for your fleet. Training can be conducted on site or at our training centre.
  • 8. Course objectives: For the general staff in procurement, by the end of the course, delegates will be able to: • Explain the basic elements of car tyre technology •Identify car tyre size markings •Procure, through an informed perspective, tyres/rims/batteries for the fleet •Identification of suitable tyre patterns for different application •Have the tyre and battery technical knowledge and practical skills to support and develop your business.
  • 9. For the drivers, by the end of the course, delegates will be able to: •Explain the basic elements of car tyre technology •Identify car tyre size markings •Have the tyre and battery technical knowledge and practical skills to support and develop your business. •In addition, the drivers should be able to do pre-trip inspections, follow good driving habits and report problems encountered enroute.
  • 10. For the technicians, by the end of the course, delegates will be able to: •Explain the basic elements of car tyre technology. •Demonstrate how to fit and balance tyres and to carry out minor repairs. •Explain the importance of workshop health and safety. •Improve the efficiency and vehicle throughput in the workshop.
  • 11. For the supervisor/fleet manager, by the end of the course, delegates will be able to: •Ensure accurate tyre costs are captured. •Ensure preventable wear on fleet vehicles’ tyres noted early •Ensure maintenance of vehicles parts is done before parts ‘seize’ •Predict when tyres should be replaced and not based on their calendar age, police reports or by customer checks. •Plan for tyre purchases •Have records of total life of each tyre (first life and retread lifes) •Track the wear characteristics of retreaded tyres versus new tyres •Calculate and maintain data on cost per kilometer for tyre/rims for the entire fleet.
