Typo graphy refers to the style and appearance of print, including font, color scheme, and size. Serif fonts have small strokes on letter ends and present as more classic, while sans serif fonts are considered more modern. Typography represents the overall branding of a media product and helps audiences identify genre and hints at the narrative. Film titles typically use uppercase and bold typography to stand out, while body text uses sans serif for readability. The filmmaker plans to use a unique, stylized font for the title that hints at the narrative, with vibrant colors and layering to make the title eye-catching, and a sans serif font for body text in a consistent color scheme across media platforms to
2. TYPOGRAPHY BY DEFINITION IS THE STYLE AND APPEARANCE OF PRINT. THIS CONSISTS OF FONT/TYPEFACE,
COLOUR SCHEME AND SIZE. OTHER FACTORS SUCH AS LINE SPACING CAN ALSO BE CONTRIBUTED.
Fonts and typefaces have a noticable difference between them. Serif fonts or
typefaces have small strokes attached to the end of the letters, this presents a more
classic and traditional appearance. An example of a serif fonts is Times new
roman. This type of font is used throughout the media platform, from books,
magazines to newspaper and websites as it presents elegance.
Sans Serif don't use the stroked that are used on serif. The term ‘sans’
means ‘without’ in french which translated to ‘without serif’. Sans serif
typefaces are considered to have a more modern appearance and they
are more direct and straightforward compared to serif fonts. They have
recently grown in popularity the past years.

4. TYPOGRAPHY IS THE REPRESENTATION OF THE OVERALL BRANDING OF A MEDIA PRODUCT AS IT CONTRIBUTES TO
THE ELEMENT OF THE PROMOTION. TYPOGRAPHY HELPS THE AUDIENCE IDENTIFY THE GENRE AS WE'LL AS IT GIVES
A HINT TO THE NARRATIVE OF THE FILM. BY USING DIFFERENT FONT SIZES AND TYPES OF FONT, THE AUDIENCE CAN
DETERMINE THE MOST IMPORTANT POINTS OF A FILM JUST BY LOOKING AT IT. THIS MAKES IT EASIER FOR THE
AUDIENCE TO FOLLOW ALONG AND PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THE FILM.
THE MAIN AIM OF TYPOGRAPHY IN FILMS IS TO GRAB THE ATTENTION OF THE TARGET AUDIENCE. THIS IS DONE BY
STANDING OUT FROM THE COMPETITORS. FILM TITLES TEND TO BE IN UPPERCASE AND PRESENTED IN BOLD. YOU
WANT YOUR AUDIENCE TO BE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE YOUR COMPANY’S BRAND AT ANY PLACE OR TIME.
TYPOGRAPHY MARKS YOUR COMPANY AND IS THE ONE THING THE VIEWER WILL IDENTIFY WITH TIME AND TIME
AGAIN.
FILMS WITH ICONIC TYPOGRAPHY ARE USUALLY A PART OF A HIGH-BUDGET, MAINSTREAM MOVIES SUCH AS
‘HARRY POTTER’, ‘STAR WARS’ AND ‘INDIANA JONES’. THEY ALL HAVE DIFFERENT FEATURES MAINLY INFLUENCED
BY THE GENRE OF THE FILM.
IMPORTANCE OF TYPOGRAPHY
5. Here are a few film titles i researched that belongs to the teenage drama genre. All
the titles use a clear and bright colour to enhance the title and make it eye
catching and for it to stand out to the audience. I believe that using a bright and
vibrant colour is a useful technique to the genre i'm willing to use as it makes my
target audience more engaged into watching the film as we'll as they are more
modern. The size of the typography of the title is large as it's the title and the main
part of any film. They mostly use san serif fonts as it's more straightforward and
direct as we'll as more modern and could attract teenagers easily.

6. I intend to use a more unique and special font for my short film. A font that is stylistic and can give
some sort of hint to my target audience about the narrative of the film. I want to make sure i keep my
font easy to read but as well as eye catchy and have the audience question themselves about the film.
For the body text, a san serif font will be used so that the viewer is comfortable
reading through all my media platforms. The colour scheme i intend on using is
vibrant colours over black to make it eye catchy. I intend to use some form of
layering between the colours to make the title stand out from other films.
THE TYPOGRAPHY MUST REMAIN CONSISTENT THROUGHOUT THE MEDIA
PLATFORMS AS THIS WILL HELP ESTABLISH A BRAND IDENTITY OF MY FILM
AND OTHER PROMOTIONAL PLATFORM THAT IS RELATED.
