Collaborative work in a F2F classroom Discussions originated in F2F classrooms, they were either undocumented or scribed. The team could share the document, but can not view at the same time, unless…. They used a flipchart.  A true collaboration of the document was awkward.
Collaborative work in an online classroom Discussion Board provides order and a place to discuss, BUT how does the group share a document? Usually by e-mail or by posting chunks of data.  There is no shared workspace synchronous or asynchronous. Usually a “leader” will collect input and collate the document. Students tend to chunk the assignment into smaller individual assignments.
Collaborative Document in an online classroom Individual work blends with other individuals to become collaborative. Editing and original work overlaps. Discussion may take place on the document or in a discussion board, however students tend to want to discuss in the same space that they collaboratively work.
Collaborative Document in an online classroom: how do we do it? The owner initially creates the document, spreadsheet, or PowerPoint.  (Instructor or student representative) The owner shares the document, spreadsheet, or PowerPoint with collaborators.  How do we do this in a secured Learning Management System??

  • 4. Collaborative work in a F2F classroom Discussions originated in F2F classrooms, they were either undocumented or scribed. The team could share the document, but can not view at the same time, unless…. They used a flipchart. A true collaboration of the document was awkward.
  • 5. Collaborative work in an online classroom Discussion Board provides order and a place to discuss, BUT how does the group share a document? Usually by e-mail or by posting chunks of data. There is no shared workspace synchronous or asynchronous. Usually a “leader” will collect input and collate the document. Students tend to chunk the assignment into smaller individual assignments.
  • 6. Collaborative Document in an online classroom Individual work blends with other individuals to become collaborative. Editing and original work overlaps. Discussion may take place on the document or in a discussion board, however students tend to want to discuss in the same space that they collaboratively work.
  • 7. Collaborative Document in an online classroom: how do we do it? The owner initially creates the document, spreadsheet, or PowerPoint. (Instructor or student representative) The owner shares the document, spreadsheet, or PowerPoint with collaborators. How do we do this in a secured Learning Management System??
