Examples Of Lies In The Crucible
One lie is enough to question all truths Anonymous. In the Crucible, Arthur Miller expressed lying All
throughout the story. Girls dance in the woods and are accused The witchery and they lie and say they
dealt with the devil. That way since witchery was big in the 1600s was believed over every other
person s truth, they lie and lie to try to get out of Their own lies people get accused and die because
the truth is not believed over the lies people. Abigail Williams has an affair with John Proctor. Abby
feels that they should be together forever, but John does not feel the same way. Abigail and Tituba lead
the girls to dance in the woods, but it escalates when Abigail drinks chicken blood and yells out To kill
Goody Proctor . Rev. Parris catches the girls dancing and they all scatter, but Parris saw Abigail s face.
Abigail then gets confronted by her uncle Rev.Parris back at the house where his daughter Betty is sat
unconscious under a spell . He says he saw her naked and dancing in the woods and questions if they
were conjuring spirits. Abby says she was not naked and they were just dancing and they weren t

The Little Rock Nine Essay
In 1954, the Supreme Court took a step in history with the Brown V. Board of Education of Topeka by
stating that, In the field of public education the doctrine of separate but equal , has no place. Separate
facilities are inheritably unequal. Little Rock, Arkansas a city in the upper south became a location of
a controversial attempt to put the court order into effect when nine African American students were
chosen to desegregate Central High in Little Rock. How did the Little Rock Nine affect America?

Faubus had now openly defied court orders, which would bring the federal government into action.
If...he hoped to outbluff the former Allied supreme commander in World War II by barking commands
at state reserve units, the governor was out of his depth, said Robert Weisbrot in Freedom Bound: A
History of America s Civil Rights Movement. President Dwight D. Eisenhower the former supreme
commander wasn t going to let Faubus defy the federal government. Eisenhower met with Faubus to
make sure that Faubus would do what the federal government ordered. After their meeting, Faubus
made no attempt to fix anything which caused Eisenhower to federalize the National Guard and to
send the 101st Airborne Division to protect the nine African American students. The soldiers escorted
the African American students into Central High and to all their classes. The soldiers were able to stop
protests outside of Central High, but inside the school, racism was still present.
[The students] were subjects of unspeakable hatred. White students yelled insults in the halls and
during class. They beat up the black students, particularly the boys. They walked on the heels of the
black until they bled. They destroyed the black student s lockers and threw flaming paper wads at
them in the bathrooms. They threw lighted sticks of dynamite at Melba Pattillo Beals, stabbed her, and

The Collective Bargaining And Negotiation Process
Almost everyone employed by a school district may participate in a collective bargaining unit or an
organized group of job positions represented by an association. The association then participates in a
joint decision making process, involving direct negotiations to determine wages, hours of work or
other terms and conditions of employment for all employees in that unit. The collective bargaining
process between a board of education and any association of united teachers, service personnel or
administrators can have a wide range of effects for everyone involved in that district and community,
especially the students. The regional school district being utilized for this review is that of a large
regional school district, serving about 7,000 students in grades 9 through 12, in the largest county in
the state. It is an affluent community of parents and community members from eight municipalities
who recognize the value of education and actively support the schools. Historically, teachers, parents
and administrators within the district have enjoyed a good, working relationship. As a result of this
ongoing positive relationship, the collective bargaining and negotiation processes between the four
associations in the district are relatively downplayed and quiet. Several associations negotiate
collective bargaining agreements with the regional the local teacher s education association, public
school employee association, district administrators association, and the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Ict In The Philippines
Advances in technology have had a tremendous impact on society. The Philippines is one those
developing country in Asia that seeks to uplift the technology advancement of the nation since ICT is
considered a valuable tool that can be used for the economic development of the country. And in a
region where other countries are already ahead in using ICT to their benefit, we are still struggling to
make effective used of it. One of the advantages mentioned is that the development of ICT in the
Philippines makes communication faster, reliable and efficient. Shinn (2001) noted that some Internet
search engines can search 1.3 billion unique web addresses, search the equivalent of a 70 mile high
stack of paper, or locate 14 million web pages about learning in less than one second. It can make
research works easier through the advancement of dependable internet connectivity where access to
needed information and data are just a mouse click away. It also helps commerce and trade through on

Death Of A Sales Man
Every classical tragedy has the same attribute yet they re all played differently. Oedipus the King was
very straight forward while others like Death of a sales man is more complex. I believe that Death of a
Sales man is a classical tragedy. I don t just believe that because Willy Loman fits he model of a tragic
protagonist but because the ending ends as a classical tragedy. Willy Loman is in fact a tragic
protagonist. He was not literally high born but he does hold power over his family as well that at one
time he was well liked. Willy says You and Hap and I, and I ll show you all the towns... And they

Yet Willy never seems to accept it. Charley offers Willy a job multiple times but willy s pride just won

families. Estimated time for the presentation would be twenty five minutes including questions and
time for the game. The location would be at Sutter Care at Home conference room located in Modesto,
California on January 3, 2017. The participants would include nurses, physical therapy, medical social
worker, and administrator. Due to improved technology, medical care, and medications people in the
US are living longer. The quality of life needs to be taken into consideration and education provided to
the aging person and families for disease prevention. Education provided to those aging on preventive

newsmagazine produced in America. While the magazine has a reputation for being less stringent than
standard news outlets due to its habitual concerning on pop culture, the magazine is considered
leagues more sophisticated than typical tabloids or gossip magazines due to its frequent coverage of
hard hitting political and global events, such as its cover on Bibi Aisha and Pakistani civil unrest or its

The Properties Of Soft Multi Sets
Abstract In this paper we define some properties of soft multi sets. We also define soft multi set
topology, its interior exterior, boundary and their properties. We establish several important results in
mathematical modeling of spacial objects using fuzzy soft interior, fuzzy soft exterior, fuzzy soft
boundary.
Keywords Fuzzy Sets, Soft Sets, Multi Sets, Fuzzy Topology.
I. INTRODUCTION (Heading 1)
We may have to face vagueness in most of the engineering, physics, computer sciences, economics,
social sciences, environmental science and medical sciences problems. These may be due to the
uncertainties of natural environmental phenomena, incompleteness of human knowledge about the
real world or due to the limitations of the means and methods used to take measurements. We can see
vagueness or uncertainty when we decide the boundary between the continents or between different
seas, when the growth rate of population in a country s rural area is determined or when we make
decisions using database information. In all these cases classical set theory, which is based on crisp
concept will not furnish the exact information.
The mathematical ideas like probability theory, fuzzy sets [12], rough sets [10] are well known as
effective models for dealing with such uncertainties. However, each of them has distinguished
advantages as well as certain limitations. Fuzzy sets fail to parameterize a value.
Molodtsov [7] introduced a completely new approach for modeling vagueness and

After becoming part of Wingate I have noticed that I have been exposed to new ideas and I have been
able to create my own opinions and thoughts of certain things. Surrounding myself with people I have
never met in a new environment. Learning their stories and their interests made me think about my life
and my interests. I never really knew what I wanted to major in or do for the rest of my life after
college. I was never really sure what would interest me and once I started college it was kind of hard
to know if I would enjoy working with whatever job I could get with the major I chose. After taking
some health science classes in high school I thought maybe a career in the health field would match
my interests. However, after being in college I questioned myself whether if this is what I really

Steganography Vs. Digital Images
Steganography has been around since 1980 s. Various tools and software s are available for
Steganography as well as Steganalysis. The most common form of steganography is on digital images.
For digital images there exist many steganographic techniques and furthermore there exist a lot of
approaches to detect steganography in digital images. In this paper we will be looking at many tools
comprising from various digital domains but we fund that almost all of the tools had support for image
files. With the increasing number of new steganographic algorithms and methods for detecting
steganography, the issue of comparing security of steganographic schemes in a fair manner is of the
most importance. A fair benchmark for steganography should only ... Show more content on

1. Image steganography
Image steganography has gotten more popular press in recent years than other kinds of steganography,
possibly because of the massive use of electronic image information available with the advent of
digital cameras and high speed Internet distribution. Image steganography often involves hiding
information in the naturally occurring noise within the image and provides a good artwork for such
techniques. Most kinds of information contain some kind of noise. Noise can be described as
unwanted distortion of information within the signal. Within an audio signal, the concept of noise is
obvious. For images, however, noise generally refers to the imperfections inherent in the process of
rendering an analog picture as a digital image. For example, the values of colors in the palette for a
digital image will not only be the exact colors in the real image and the distribution of these colors
will be also be imperfect. The greater the number of bits used to

The Importance Of Movies In Movies
Movies have been around since the late 1800 s in various forms and have always been at the center of
water cooler debates because of their ability to push the boundaries of social norms. Because movies
are entertainment, they can fall victim to becoming boring and mundane after a while, this is why the
boundaries of what we see portrayed on screen are always moving. Lyden (2003) states We are
beginning to realize that we cannot understand or interpret our society except in its relation to these
unavoidable additions to it. Some welcome them and some fear them, but they are here to stay (p.1).
For as long as I can remember, I ve been an avid fan of movies. I have enjoyed everything from action
to drama; comedy to suspense, but the one thing that is immutable about my experience is the self
apparent change in the morals and values depicted in film. It is the ability of movies to make us feel a
certain way, as well as influence social conciseness that makes the moralities that drive them
important to examine. How do movies continue to push the boundaries of our expectations, without
exploring the fringes of cultural and social morality? What is the damage to our psyches when the
things depicted on the big screen challenge the established moral norms? Matthew 6:22 24 informs us

The Mozart Effect For Children, By Don Campbell
Music can be beneficial to people through several ways, but music can also have positive effects on
the mind. In the novel, The Mozart Effect for Children, by Don Campbell, music is discussed as being
a voice in which someway every child, adult or human being can understand. Music allows people to
sing along to the lyrics, move or dance to the beat, and match the melodies. The use of music can
often be used to explore and discover the beauty in which music holds. The interaction of music with
the mind can be shown through the use of vibrations, patterns, and rhythms (Campbell 8). This shows
that music has a way to communicate with everybody and can make people included. Music has the
effect of making everybody come together and act like

Describe Your Happy Place
Where is your happy place? I grew up on the mid north coast of NSW in a small town called Valla
Beach which was nestled between the bush and the beach. Because it was such a small town in which
most people knew each other, I was granted relative freedom to roam the native environment and
explore. I have very fond memories of riding my scooter up and down the streets with my friends and
neighbours, cantering through the bush in front of my house, making up stories about my life if I had
lived there and spending all day on the beach, crisping in the sun. Being inside seemed like such a dull
affair when you could be immersed in a different world, a natural world. I feel as if these early life
experiences led me to always have a special connection with the natural environment as it was the one
true place that I could seek comfort and clarity my happy place.
Across the road from my house was extensive bushland that stretched a few kilometres until it was cut
off by the highway. In many ways, it was my childhood playground. There was a small dam in the
bushland that I often took my dog to play fetch and cool off. There was a bush track that winded up
and down hills and ended in a small little clearing and there was also dirt bike tracks that a local boy
had made from scrap materials. When I was 12, a housing development crew came to town and begun
marking out the land to demolish to build new estates and within weeks they were underway. They

Media Advertising and Sex Essay
Advertisements are everywhere, combining images and words together to create a message to sell a
product. The initial impression is that the advertisers are just trying to sell their products, but there
often seems to be an underlying message. It is often heard that sex sells. So, many advertisers will use
beautiful women and men in their advertisements to try to market a product. The hope is that sex will
sell, and people will go out and buy what the ads are selling. There are many advertisements and
commercials that use this approach. Prime examples of this are the advertisements for Orbit Gum and
A Diamond is Forever. Also, the commercials for Levi jeans use sex to promote the sale of their brand.

If the main point is really about engagement rings, shouldn t the ring be seen on her finger? Since
there is no ring shown, it is implied that buying this ring will make your relationship more sensual. It
makes a man think that his girlfriend will love him even more for buying her that ring. For a woman,
it means that her boyfriend truly and deeply loves her. It tries to play on people s love for each other.
Sex as Symbol in Fashion Advertising points out that the creators of any advertisement are trying to
generate some kind of an effect or emotional response (184). This ad does exactly that. It plays on a
couple s emotions.
Likewise, the advertisers for Orbit Gum use a common situation involving a man and a woman to sell
their product. The ad pictures a side view of a construction worker s face, with his mouth open,
looking at a woman. However, the only parts of the woman that are seen are her legs and feet. The ad
draws attention to the fact that the man is only looking at one part of the woman s body. The ad reads,
Dirty mouth? Clean it up with Orbit. It is implied that since the man is looking at just the woman s
legs, he is thinking of something sexual, possibly even saying it out loud. Therefore, he is being dirty,
and the only way to become clean is to chew some Orbit gum. In this ad, the woman is seen as a sex
object. As Jean Kilbourne points out,

Susan B Anthony Women s Rights Movement
For decades, the fight for women s rights has been a constant struggle in a male dominated American
society. During the early 1800s, women s traditional roles included providing for the household, such
as educating and raising their children. At this time, women were not given the right to own property
or vote, and they had very minimal economic independence. However, throughout the Gilded Age and
the Progressive Era, a time of business expansion and social reforms, the women s civil rights
movement had escalated due to the actions of many influential figures and reform groups. One of the
most substantial women of the time was Susan B.Anthony, who led the National Woman Suffrage

And yet, Southwest has been the only U.S. airline to be profitable for 28 consecutive years (Laing,
2001). One key to Southwest s success is its remarkably short turnaround time, 15 minutes versus
competitors average of 35 minutes (O Reilly Pfeffer, 1995). Planes don t sit long at the jet way.
Instead, employees across functional lines band together to get the planes out quickly, despite being
89% unionized. This results in an average plane utilization of around 12 hours at Southwest versus the
industry average of closer to 9 hours. Southwest s success hinges not on how brilliant, unique, or
opaque their strategy is, but on the alignment between their culture and strategy, and how clearly
employees understand, and intensely they feel, about the culture. Strong cultures enhance
organizational performance in two ways. First, they improve performance by energizing employees
appealing to their higher ideals and values, and rallying them around a set of meaningful, unified
goals. Such ideals excite employee commitment and effort because they are inherently engaging
(Walton, 1980), and fill voids in identity and meaning that some believe; characterize contemporary
Western society (Baumeister, 1998). Second, strong cultures boost performance by shaping and
coordinating employees behavior. Stated values and norms focus employees attention on

The Influence Of Hollywood In The Golden Age
Unlike today, Hollywood in the Golden Age controlled the product that it released and followed a
certain accepted agenda. Today, films and TV shows coming out of Hollywood no longer have
political agendas, strict censorship codes, or follow conservative American values that existed in the
Golden Age. In addition, today moviegoers no longer yearn for deep, meaningful movies that the
Golden Age provided or care to take influence from Hollywood. Hollywood today is far less
controlled politically than it was in the Golden Age, but today still tries to influence viewers on what
really goes on in politics in a negative light. Hollywood is No Longer controlled by Tradition
Conservative Values. Historian Franklin states the movie industry was a monopoly until 1960.
(Franklin 37). That from the Golden Age, spanning from the 1920s to the 1960s the movie industry
was capable of controlling the content of its films (Franklin 37). In fact, Hollywood did a very good
job of doing so, because most of the movies and shows before the 1960s had very traditional
American conservative values with the strong patriarchal father figure with a conventional family
module. One example of these shows with strong American values that I can think of that my parents
grew up watching was Leave it to Beaver. Hollywood producers and directors had these values under
their grasp to portray how American families should be among viewers. There is a far less political

underneath it. Shakespeare creates his character Macbeth in a such a way that he starts off sane, and
through certain actions that Shakespeare characterizes as evil, he falls. In the play Macbeth, Macbeth s
mind slips far further than he had wagered and soon he is the epitome of madness. Shakespeare uses
other characters as well to delineate Macbeth s mind state as the play unfolds. Such parallels are

As Macbeth moves throughout the play, he makes decisions based on greed and insecurity. These
decisions are influenced by his diseased mind which is crippled by his paradoxical thoughts. While
planning to kill Banquo, he shares that full of scorpions is my mind, dear wife! Thou know st that
Banquo, and his Fleance, lives / But in them nature s copy s not eterne. / There s comfort yet; they are
assailable (3.2.41 44). Macbeth knows that his mind is diseased and while knowing that Banquo and
his son is alive, his mind tricks him into thinking they are dangerous. Shakespeare compares Macbeth
s mind to be full of scorpions . Scorpions attack by using their tails and stabbing poison into someone.
The scorpion attacking him is his own greed and the poison is from what the greed leads to. His greed,
filling his mind more and more with bad thoughts, until finally he is poisoned with the thoughts of
killing to get what he wants. The idea that Macbeth s head is full of scorpions suggests that over time
his thoughts are getting a little more poisoned over and over again until finally he dies. His state of
mind now inhabited by scorpions leads him to making paradoxical decisions. Macbeth feels comfort
in knowing that nature s copy is eterne for him but he also feels threatened by his successor being
Fleance. Lady Macbeth tries to comfort him by telling him he has eternal life and his assailants do not.
He agrees with his wife s comfort but he is still not sure. His thoughts are paradoxical because he
thinks he has eternal life and yet he feels in danger of Banquo and

The Evolution of Horror For centuries, stories of monsters, demons and other unholy abominations
have brought fear to the hearts of audiences in commercially convenient doses. Noel Carroll, Ph.D., in
his article The Nature of Horror , argues that the existence of monsters and supernatural entities alone
do not define a horror novel or film for monsters inhabit all sorts of stories, such as fairy tales, myths,
and odysseys, that we are not wont to identify as horror (Carroll). One can therefore infer that the
absence of such creatures in either media can absolutely still yield a work in the Horror fiction genre.
The genre of Horror draws its roots from many sources. It has, ... Show more content on

It is so cold, Eleanor thought childishly; I will never be able to sleep again with all this noise coming
from inside my head; how can these others hear the noise when it is coming from inside my head? I
am disappearing inch by inch into this house, I am going apart a little bit at a time because all this
noise is breaking me; why are the others frightened? (Jackson 128). Eleanor is Hill House s main
victim; therefore, she can be seen as the women in distress who so often appears in many other Gothic
Horror novels. As the story progresses, one might detect hints of romance between Eleanor and
Theodora; Jackson leaves this facet of the story as vaguely as she does the others, however, and never
elaborates on it. Romance, in itself, is another key factor in establishing Gothic Horror literature.
Though eighteenth century Gothic Horror laid the foundation of Modern Horror, as we know it today,
much of what we are used can be attributed to influences by horror authors in the nineteenth century.
It was during this century when Gothic Horror transformed into the genre of Horror. Horror exploded
with popularity with the publication of Frankenstein (1818) by Mary Shelley. It was during this time
that Horror authors began to incorporate the five human senses to help their audience to imagine the
physical manifestation of fear itself. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1886) by Robert
Louis Stevenson

Role of Mobile Computing in Healthcare Management
Mobile Computing in Healthcare Management Technology changes everyday. We blink our eyes for a
second, and it has advanced to far beyond our wildest dreams. Thus, every aspect of our lives is also
being impacted by these advances in technology, including how we care for our bodies and our overall
well being. Technology has long played a crucial role in healthcare management strategies, but today s
industry is seeing drastic changes in how it uses mobile computing devices. The use of mobile devices
is revolutionizing the modern healthcare industry, having the huge benefits of efficiency, cost
reductions, and patient empowerment; yet, still these devices are now bringing up new security
concerns for the protection of sensitive patient data. The use of mobile devices in healthcare has really
taken off. When once healthcare practitioners were limited to time consuming written record keeping
or clunky and out dated computers on heavy carts, health service providers and medical vendors are
finding new and innovative ways in which to use this new platform to better support patient care
(HIMSS 2011 p 3). Heavy duty lap tops are a staple feature in most healthcare facilities. They give
healthcare workers the speed they want coupled with the durability the need in a chaotic healthcare
setting (Brown 2010). These durable laptops are often a primary choice for systems that are sent home
with patients because they are more practical to use than other mobile devices, like tablets,

The Symbols Of The Bear
Chose to write about this story because it is full of many ideas and symbols that are reflected in
reality. The author may have written this story for other reasons, but at least I understand it in a
different way and will work on a conceptual analysis of it.
I drew attention to this sentence mentioned by the writer in the first section
The encounter was unpremeditated on both sides. I was not hunting for a bear, and I have no reason to
suppose that a bear was looking for me. Because on the assumption that the bear is a symbol of the
problem and the narrator a symbol of man, the important question is: Does man seek the cause of the
problem as a result of his thinking or his actions, or is it the problems that seek behind man, since it is

The fact is that escape from the problem is not a kind of lack of courage, but it may be a tactical
withdrawal so that man can gather his strength and focuses his thinking on how to salvation.
What would be my wife s mortification when the news was brought that her husband had been eaten
by a bear! I think here is a kind of humor and fun by the author, which I find unacceptable and
illogical here in such dangerous moments. Instead of thinking about survival, he is looking for what
would be told after his death or the scandal that his family will suffer because he was killed by a bear!
Perhaps the author wanted to slightly ease the reader from the tension caused by the story. The writer
finally beat the bear and managed to kill him. This teaches us persistence and patience until we
achieve victory and we can overcome the enemy.
The writer then returns to his home as a victor after overcoming his problem and killing the bear. This
reflects our sense of happiness and pride among family members, and that one is proud of himself
when overcoming his problems. Indeed, this may be one of the reasons for happiness in life, but it is
certain that happiness has many other

Titanic The Unsinkable ship
The Titanic was known as the unsinkable ship . She was the largest ship afloat at the time of her
maiden voyage in April of 1912, during which she collided with an iceberg. She was the second of
three Olympic class ocean liners operated by the White Star Line. A numerous amount of people
believe that the collision that occurred on April 15, 1912 was The Titanic s sister ship The Olympic,
and that the wreckage was premeditated and was used to commit insurance fraud.

This season, all eyes will be on the Philadelphia 76ers to see if they can take that next step towards a
potential playoff berth. In offseason, the team signed both sharpshooter J.J. Redick and big man Amir

However, while all the attention is on the guys apart of the 15 man roster, the Sixers and the rest of the

If that wasn t amazing enough, Pullen upped the ante in his senior year, averaging 20.2 points, 3.7

Just like he did as a junior, Pullen continued to show off his hot shooting stroke, knocking down 42.6
percent from the field and 38.1 percent from three point range.
Despite ending his four year career at Kansas State on a high note, Pullen would go undrafted in 2011
and began his world tour playing basketball. He started off playing hoops with Pallacanestro Bella in
Italian Lega Basket Seria A and continued to do what he does best, scoring points.
With Pallacanestro Bella, Pullen averaged 16.0 points, shot 42.1 percent from the field and 34.1

Three point shooting would become Pullen s best friend overseas as he would have a ridiculous game
a few seasons later with FC Barcelona Lassa. Against C.B. Valladolid, Pullen went off for 42 points on

The former Kansas State Wildcat put on the clinic, showing he could knock down the three ball off

The Purpose of the Sub-plot in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night
Twelfth Night or What You Will is one of Shakespeare s most famous comedies. It has been
performed hundreds of times and adapted into a number of modern films. The main plot of the play
follows Viola, a girl who is rescued from a shipwreck and enters into the service of the Duke Orsino
disguised as a man. Rising quickly in his estimation, Viola begins delivering messages of love on his
behalf to Olivia, a noble woman who has no interest in Orsino s advances. Over the course of the play
Olivia falls in love with the disguised Viola, Viola falls in love with Orsino, and Viola s twin brother
Sebastian, who supposedly died in the shipwreck, returns. Following Sebastian s return the twins are
mistaken for each other, leading to both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, both plots have symmetrical patterns with slight differences. In each plot, Olivia is the
object of men s affections and in both plots the men trying to woo her are thwarted.
Salingar also argues that the sub plot serves to amplify the main themes of the play. He asserts that the
theme of misrule in the comic subplot gives the underlying constructive principle of the whole play,
(Salingar 118) and the elements of unconscious parody in the sub plot help to reinforce the theme of
delusion and error. Misrule is common to both plots, perhaps more directly in the sub plot and
indirectly in the main plot. In the main plot the setting is fantasy like, every day is a feast and the
aristocracy enjoys freedom from the normal social constraints that characterized the period in which
Shakespeare was writing. Misrule is necessary to explain a number of points in the main plot such as
the sudden switch of romantic partners at the end of the play and Viola s ability to remain undetected
as a woman despite her feeble attempts at concealment. She nearly admits it to Olivia in the scene
where she says, What I am, and what I would, are as secret as maidenhead (1.5.???). According to
Cahill the subplot is, historically specific, more obviously grounded in Elizabethan social relations,
(63) thus the theme of misrule is represented in a more literal fashion. Sir

European Colonization In Latin America
Latin America is one of the less developed when compared to different parts of the world. The
colonization era highly affected Latin American, making Latin America less developed than other
countries. Latin America used to be rich in terms of resources, containing an abundance of resources
that made these lands valuable for other countries. Among its resources, the lands of Latin America
produced gold and silver. In the era of colonization many Europeans colonizers were able to conquer
land and make use of them by taking all of the valuable resources. They also had more advantages,
making it easier to colonize in Latin America. Latin America fell behind in levels of developments
when Europeans colonized Latin America, used force against natives to extract resources and created
extractive institutions that led to high inequality in Latin America. The colonization of Europeans in

Celebrities Acting with Humanism
In the reading Existentialism is a Humanism , the author Jean Paul Sartre presents the idea of
Existentialism. He introduces this idea by stating that man s plan in this world is not pre determined,
as we only determine who we are or who we want to become throughout life. Sartre states that a
person is what a person does. He also uses a metaphoric scenario of a man jumping on a scene before
defining himself. These two ideas imply that man has no ultimate meaning, and it is up to us to find it
through experience and by taking action. Additionally, Sartre also implies that humans have a huge
responsibility on becoming who they want to become as it is only up to them to do so, making us
entirely responsible for our existence. Sartre states that, when we say that man is responsible for
himself, we do not mean that he is responsible for his own individuality, but that he is responsible for
all men. This quote implies that men are not only responsible for their own lives but also responsible
for the development of society as we are all an example to everyone that is born after us. Everyone
that is new to this world looks up to their ancestors in order to see what they were like and to use them
as a point of guidance in order to go through life. This quote also implies that men should behave in a
way that improves this society because their actions will likely be replicated in the near future. An
example of such behavior can be the one of a mother, as she is very

The Existence Of God In The Brothers Karamazov
The existence of god is a question explored in the novel The Brothers Karamazov by three brothers.
Alyosha, a young, devoutly faithful man believes that God exists, and believes deeply in salvation
through the forgiveness of sins. Alyosha is almost innocent in his faith, as demonstrated when an elder
mentor becomes old and frail. Alyosha observes his lifelong mentor s body falling apart, and he
genuinely believes that a miracle will heal his mentor s body for being a faithful man. Alyosha
becomes extremely emotional when he observes that a miracle is not likely to happen, and claims that
though his faith was shaken by this event, he was still certain of God s existence. However, he does
add that although he knows God exists, that he does not accept the world God created in which a
miracle is not performed on his mentor.
Alyosha has a conversation with his brother Dmitri when he visits his brother in jail. Dmitri believes
that God exists. He states that men cannot live and God cannot exist without joy, because God s gift to
humanity is joy. He claims that man cannot exist in prison without God, and that it is stupid to believe
that man can love humanity without God.
Ivan, brother to Alyosha and Dmitri, also speaks to Alyosha on his beliefs in the existence of God.
Ivan, being a scholar and intellectual of sorts, is by far the most skeptical and critical of the brothers in
his assessment of the question. He claims initially that no natural law that made humans love each

Taking a Look at the Mexican Revolution
The Mexican revolution was an important time in the history of Mexico. It was important because
Mexico stopped the dictatorship of Porfirio Diaz and they established a constitutional republic. During
that time a lot of major people were involved in establishing a good government like Francisco
Madero, Pascual Orozco, Pancho villa, and Emiliano Zapata. All of these people had a major role in
the revolution and also in changing the future of Mexico. Each and everyone one of them had an
impact as revolutionists. The Mexican revolution began November 20, 1910, but the question is why
did it start in the first place? The Mexican revolution started because of the middle class protesting
against their dictator at that time which was Porfirio Diaz (1876 1911), Diazcame into power like
many other leaders in Mexico during the nineteenth century. Diaz was a former army officer who
came into power by a coup. The whole reason why the revolution started was because Diaz was big on
modernizing and industrializing but the workers were suffering because of all the work. Diaz also
wanted to form a stronger bond with the United States and started distributing land which belonged to
farmers and lower class people in Mexico, the only way to keep your land or get it back was to have a
legal document claiming that it was yours. When people started turning on him he bullied them into
supporting him.

Porter s Five Forces Industry Competition
Porter s Five Forces
Industry Competition / Intensity of Rivalry:
As with every industry and business, there is competition. In the case of the craft beer industry, the
competition is medium and growing. From challenging the big macro breweries, to battling against
new incoming brewery businesses, the craft beer industry is absolutely on the radar for competition.
Macro breweries are still the largest competitors with craft breweries. The major player in the craft
beer industry, according to IBISWorld, is The Boston Beer Company. It holds a market share in the
overall beer industry of only 2.7%, and a revenue of $885.5 million in 2014. In comparison to the

If consumers prefer a specific beer and keep asking for it at bars, which only have a specific amount
of taps, will put that beer on more often to suit the increased demand. This makes the beer and the
brewery more popular, all the while intensifying the rivalry for bar space.
Suppliers:
The suppliers for craft beer include the source of the ingredients and the source of the materials used
in production. The craft beer industry relies on responsible, dependable, fresh supplies from different
industries to make production and distribution possible. The suppliers for production include various
industries for the basic ingredients; wheat, barley, soybean, corn, yeast, malt, nuts, sugar and water.
Other suppliers for distribution include the packaging industry, which consists of aluminum, glass,
cardboard, and containers. Smaller companies face a financial barrier here when attempting to make
flavorful beers that require high priced raw materials.
The lofty prices of high quality ingredients often act as a barrier to newcomers seeking to establish a
niche in the market. Lastly, the printing industry also plays a role as a supplier by printing labels. Due
to the uniqueness craft brewing methods, not all batches turn out the same, so the industry may have
to charge higher prices based on the cost of production. Since each craft beer style has a unique
measuring and brewing method, there is a large variety

The Role Of Competition Law And Its Effects On The Local...
My interest in this paper is to consider a complex network prospective; the application of Competition
Law, and more specifically related to its effects on monopolistic competition, and its effects on the
local market and South African economy as a whole.
South Africa (SA) was distant from many other major markets and production centers. This made it
complex for international trade to compensate for these conditions, even though trade has expanded
since 1994, mainly with the European (EU) and the United States (US). Tariff levels have declined on
average, but anti dumping duties protect key industries such as steel, where the state has long had an
interest and an exclusive export agent can prevent arbitrage between export and local markets. SA s
history of import substitution and the attendant habits of business practice and government policy
favored local insiders thus challenging other market entrants. This encouraged the new SA
government to review the SA competition law regime in the White Paper on Reconstruction and
Development in 1994. The need for a new competition policy in SA was because of excessive
economic concentration and ownership, collusive practices by enterprises and the abuse of economic
power by firms in dominant positions. A need for further transition emanated from the effects of
globalization and trade liberalization and the need to redress past inequality and non participation in
the national economy. Thus fundamental principle of competition policy

The Final Contestants Of The Eighty Fourth Hunger Games
Greetings to the final contestants of the Seventy fourth Hunger Games. The earlier revision has been
revoked. Closer examination of the rule book has disclosed that only one winner may be allowed, he
says. Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favour.
There s a small burst of static and then nothing more. I stare at Peeta as I process what they have just
told us. I m furious, even more angry with the Capitol then I have already been. I take a second to
think about it but it makes me nervous, frustrated and enraged. Peeta and I both know what this means
and we need to make a decision fast before the Gamemakers decide it s boring the onlookers make a
verdict on how to liven us up once again for a more interesting and amusing attack. As for all, these
games are only for the amusement of the Capitol and those in the 12 districts that are into it. To Peeta
and I, the realisation and understanding that we are the only ones still in the arena hits us, therefore
one of us has to be the victor and by us I mean Peeta or me.
Peeta pulls what appear to be black berries out of his pocket. I can t seem to tell whether they re the
poisonous ones that I nearly ate earlier in the games or not although they do resemble some relation in
the colour, size and feeling when he drops four of these into my cold, shaking wet hands. I examine
them closer but it s quite difficult to tell the difference. I appear to be a little bit cautious when
receiving these but am soon awaken to his

Joyce Meyer How To Respond To Conflict Summary
How to Respond to Conflict Joyce Meyer once said, A positive attitude gives you power over your
circumstances instead of your circumstances having power over you . Throughout times people have
proven that positive thinking will help resolve a conflict. It is good to remain positive to eventually
receive a good outcome. When a conflict arises the best way to deal with it is to keep a positive
attitude. Many argue that a fight will quickly end a problem but problem but a good example that that
is false is the story of Black Ships before Troy.In black ships before Troy they use war to solve their
problems.people think that it won t really matter what attitude is presented in a problem. Many would
argue that the one side of the argument doesn t care about the attitude about the other person/side.. ...

With Reference to Acid-Base Balance Explore the Role of...
School of Nursing, Midwifery and Interprofessional Studies.
With reference to acid base balance explore the role of the respiratory system in maintaining blood
pH?
We live and die at the cellular level (Reid, 2011). Homeostasis is crucial for normal cellular function.
Acid base homeostasis is the part of human homeostasis and refers to the balance between the
production and elimination of H+ hydrogen ions (pH) within the body fluids (William, Simpkins,
2001, p.236). Metabolic reactions within the cells often produce a huge excess of H+. Lack of any
mechanism for its excretion would lead H+ levels in body fluids rise quickly to the lethal levels
(Tortora, Grabowski 2006, p.1001); therefore the homeostasis of the right H+ levels is ... Show more

Simple act of breathing also regulates blood s pH.. When the ventilation rate increases, more CO2 will
be excreted, leading to decreased H+ concentration and raise in pH. Contrarily, when the ventilation
rate decreases, less carbon dioxide will get excreted, leading to its accumulation, therefore increase in
H+ and decrease in blood s pH (Tortora, Derrickson, 2009, p.1002).
As we can see, lungs and brain control blood s pH minute by minute.
When the respiratory system fails to control the pH of the blood through ventilation it can lead to
respiratory acidosis or alkalosis.
Respiratory acidosis is an excess of carbonic acid that is caused by conditions resulting in
hypoventilation and CO2 retention. The major effect of acidosis

Characteristics Of People Born In Different Generations
From war hero conservatives to righteous college protesters to tech savvy teenagers, there are defining
characteristics of people born in different eras. Many do not realize how much their environment and
its history impacts them as a whole. The progression of history changes the conditions entire groups of
people grow up in, which leads those groups to differ from each other in life. This type of group is
called a generation. Each generation has its own events that happened in its lifetime (Ovadia). As a
result, they all have widely differing characteristics and views that come from things like the state of
the economy, current technology, parenting style, war, politics, or even the media; and all of this
changes after a period of time (Neal). There are different generations in every country or part of the
world because of how many cultural and historical contrasts there are between nations. Modern
America s living generations are called the G.I. Generation (or the Greatest Generation), the Baby
Boomer Generation, Generation X, and the Millennials. The reason why none of them are exactly the
same is the fact that none of them have truly experienced, or will ever experience, what the other ones
have grown up with or, in most cases, without (Ovadia). People born into different generations are
influenced by various factors within their era and generally develop based on those influences. Before
understanding generational differences, it must be understood what a generation

Shirley Temple s Dimpled Face
Pecola is constantly labeled as inferior due to her ugliness and copes with her sorrow by conforming
to society s label.
Throughout the novel, Pecola s fascination with white girls is heavily expressed. It is first shown very
early on when Pecola admires the Shirley Temple cup. Claudia narrates, She was a long time with the
milk, and gazed fondly at the silhouette of Shirley Temple s dimpled face (19). Much later in the book
Pecola shows her fascination with Mary Jane. She takes great joy in buying and eating the Mary Jane
candies, for, to eat the candy is somehow to eat the eyes, eat Mary Jane. Love Mary Jane. Be Mary

While most think of dandelions as nothing but a pesky weed, Pecola admires and sympathizes with
them. She does not understand why people dislike them, as demonstrated on page 47: Why, she
wonders, do people call them weeds? She thought they were pretty, . This is a powerful statement that
reflects the discrepancies between society s labels. Just like the dandelions, Pecola is a devalued weed
because society said so. Even though Pecola feels admiration towards the plant, the pressure to
conform eventually overwhelms her and she attempts to convince herself otherwise by thinking, They
are ugly. They are weeds, (50). She rationalizes that if she is told dandelions are ugly then they must
be ugly, just as she rationalizes that because she is black she is

Analyzing The Movie Wanted
Wanted! When you hear, or say that term, the visual that may come to mind may be: criminal, old
western movie, or even a comparison to a relationship. But in relation to the movie Wanted it stands
for nothing but a guy that wanted no more in life but to find his purpose. A lot of us in this world
never actually find our purpose in life, we just kind of settle for what we are able to do. We go through
trials and tribulations to find ourselves, and find anything that will make our lives more satisfying,
including putting ourselves in harms way to do it. This film stars Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman,
and James McAvoy, which names all scream a killer movie to me. The theme represented in this
movie is not only deceit and lack of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first theme demonstrated in this movie is Perseverance, which was illustrated in the film by
Wesley, and his determination to go through all the physical test to meet standards of the fraternity.
His whole intention throughout the movie was to prove that he could become more than what he
always has considered himself, which is below average. When Wesley was in training he got beat up
by multiple people in the fraternity, in an attempt to make him physically strong to stand anything. He
learned tasks including fighting, knife work, and also how to curve a bullet. When he was learning to
curve the bullet Sloan, played by Morgan Freeman, states The first time in your life Wesley, you are in
control (Bekmambetov, Wanted ). As he shoots multiple bullets and still pierces the wrong target, Fox
then stands in the middle of him and the target and says, shoot the target (Bekmambetov, Wanted ). As
hesitant as he was, he knew he had to have confidence in himself to complete the task. As he shoots
around Fox, not knowing if the bullet would hit her, he takes his shot and hits the correct target. Sloan
then says Welcome to the fraternity (Bekmambetov, Wanted ). He then knew all his hard work had
paid off! That part of the movie showed strength and perseverance.
Another way both themes, deceit and perseverance, were shown was at the end of the movie when

The Simpsons, Family Guy, Aladdin, And All The Scary Movie...
There are many movies, books, and TV shows that make fun of evil. The Simpsons, Family Guy,
Aladdin, and all the Scary Movie movies. There are numerous ways in which each makes fun of evil.
Scary Movie alone uses numerous ways to mock evil, and turns all these scary, evil things into
something to laugh about. Aladdin has people who are supposed to be evil, and come up with all these
ideas to destroy good, but it always turns around on the evil people and works out for good. The
Simpsons has an episode where Homer sells his soul for a doughnut, and another episode where
Homer kills Death. These TV shows and movies have something in common though, and that is the
way they belittle evil. Most will have good triumph over evil which, models Augustinian theodicy.
Why do many TV shows and movies ridicule evil? It could be any number of reasons. Perhaps people
didn t want to fear it anymore, and thus, belittled it and took away its power over people. Maybe it is
for any other number of reasons. However, no matter the reason, these numerous TV shows and
movies afore mentioned, mock evil.
In Aladdin, there is a parrot named Iago. Iago is voiced by Gilbert Gottfried and appeared in the first
film as the sidekick to the main antagonist Jafar, and later becomes one of the protagonists for the rest
of the franchise s run. He even leaves Jafar, and goes on to try to cause chaos on his own while
singing I m Looking out for Me. First, the fact one of the main antagonists is a small

The Collective Bargaining And Negotiation Process Almost everyone employed by a school district may participate in a collective bargaining unit or an organized group of job positions represented by an association. The association then participates in a joint decision making process, involving direct negotiations to determine wages, hours of work or other terms and conditions of employment for all employees in that unit. The collective bargaining process between a board of education and any association of united teachers, service personnel or administrators can have a wide range of effects for everyone involved in that district and community, especially the students. The regional school district being utilized for this review is that of a large regional school district, serving about 7,000 students in grades 9 through 12, in the largest county in the state. It is an affluent community of parents and community members from eight municipalities who recognize the value of education and actively support the schools. Historically, teachers, parents and administrators within the district have enjoyed a good, working relationship. As a result of this ongoing positive relationship, the collective bargaining and negotiation processes between the four associations in the district are relatively downplayed and quiet. Several associations negotiate collective bargaining agreements with the regional the local teacher s education association, public school employee association, district administrators association, and the ... We also define soft multi set topology, its interior exterior, boundary and their properties. We establish several important results in mathematical modeling of spacial objects using fuzzy soft interior, fuzzy soft exterior, fuzzy soft boundary. Keywords Fuzzy Sets, Soft Sets, Multi Sets, Fuzzy Topology. I. INTRODUCTION (Heading 1) We may have to face vagueness in most of the engineering, physics, computer sciences, economics, social sciences, environmental science and medical sciences problems. These may be due to the uncertainties of natural environmental phenomena, incompleteness of human knowledge about the real world or due to the limitations of the means and methods used to take measurements. We can see vagueness or uncertainty when we decide the boundary between the continents or between different seas, when the growth rate of population in a country s rural area is determined or when we make decisions using database information. In all these cases classical set theory, which is based on crisp concept will not furnish the exact information. The mathematical ideas like probability theory, fuzzy sets [12], rough sets [10] are well known as effective models for dealing with such uncertainties. However, each of them has distinguished advantages as well as certain limitations. Fuzzy sets fail to parameterize a value. The Importance Of Movies In Movies Movies have been around since the late 1800 s in various forms and have always been at the center of water cooler debates because of their ability to push the boundaries of social norms. Because movies are entertainment, they can fall victim to becoming boring and mundane after a while, this is why the boundaries of what we see portrayed on screen are always moving. Lyden (2003) states We are beginning to realize that we cannot understand or interpret our society except in its relation to these unavoidable additions to it. Some welcome them and some fear them, but they are here to stay (p.1). For as long as I can remember, I ve been an avid fan of movies. I have enjoyed everything from action to drama; comedy to suspense, but the one thing that is immutable about my experience is the self apparent change in the morals and values depicted in film. It is the ability of movies to make us feel a certain way, as well as influence social conciseness that makes the moralities that drive them important to examine. How do movies continue to push the boundaries of our expectations, without exploring the fringes of cultural and social morality? What is the damage to our psyches when the things depicted on the big screen challenge the established moral norms? Because it was such a small town in which most people knew each other, I was granted relative freedom to roam the native environment and explore. I have very fond memories of riding my scooter up and down the streets with my friends and neighbours, cantering through the bush in front of my house, making up stories about my life if I had lived there and spending all day on the beach, crisping in the sun. • 27. The Purpose of the Sub-plot in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night Twelfth Night or What You Will is one of Shakespeare s most famous comedies. It has been performed hundreds of times and adapted into a number of modern films. The main plot of the play follows Viola, a girl who is rescued from a shipwreck and enters into the service of the Duke Orsino disguised as a man. Rising quickly in his estimation, Viola begins delivering messages of love on his behalf to Olivia, a noble woman who has no interest in Orsino s advances. Therefore, both plots have symmetrical patterns with slight differences. In each plot, Olivia is the object of men s affections and in both plots the men trying to woo her are thwarted. Salingar also argues that the sub plot serves to amplify the main themes of the play. He asserts that the theme of misrule in the comic subplot gives the underlying constructive principle of the whole play, (Salingar 118) and the elements of unconscious parody in the sub plot help to reinforce the theme of delusion and error. Misrule is common to both plots, perhaps more directly in the sub plot and indirectly in the main plot. In the main plot the setting is fantasy like, every day is a feast and the aristocracy enjoys freedom from the normal social constraints that characterized the period in which Shakespeare was writing. Misrule is necessary to explain a number of points in the main plot such as the sudden switch of romantic partners at the end of the play and Viola s ability to remain undetected as a woman despite her feeble attempts at concealment. She nearly admits it to Olivia in the scene where she says, What I am, and what I would, are as secret as maidenhead (1.5.???). According to Cahill the subplot is, historically specific, more obviously grounded in Elizabethan social relations, (63) thus the theme of misrule is represented in a more literal fashion. Sir ... • 30. Celebrities Acting with Humanism In the reading Existentialism is a Humanism , the author Jean Paul Sartre presents the idea of Existentialism. He introduces this idea by stating that man s plan in this world is not pre determined, as we only determine who we are or who we want to become throughout life. Sartre states that a person is what a person does. He also uses a metaphoric scenario of a man jumping on a scene before defining himself. These two ideas imply that man has no ultimate meaning, and it is up to us to find it through experience and by taking action. Additionally, Sartre also implies that humans have a huge responsibility on becoming who they want to become as it is only up to them to do so, making us entirely responsible for our existence. Sartre states that, when we say that man is responsible for himself, we do not mean that he is responsible for his own individuality, but that he is responsible for all men. This quote implies that men are not only responsible for their own lives but also responsible for the development of society as we are all an example to everyone that is born after us. Everyone that is new to this world looks up to their ancestors in order to see what they were like and to use them as a point of guidance in order to go through life. Alyosha, a young, devoutly faithful man believes that God exists, and believes deeply in salvation through the forgiveness of sins. Alyosha is almost innocent in his faith, as demonstrated when an elder mentor becomes old and frail. Alyosha observes his lifelong mentor s body falling apart, and he genuinely believes that a miracle will heal his mentor s body for being a faithful man. Alyosha becomes extremely emotional when he observes that a miracle is not likely to happen, and claims that though his faith was shaken by this event, he was still certain of God s existence. However, he does add that although he knows God exists, that he does not accept the world God created in which a miracle is not performed on his mentor. Alyosha has a conversation with his brother Dmitri when he visits his brother in jail. Dmitri believes that God exists. He states that men cannot live and God cannot exist without joy, because God s gift to humanity is joy. He claims that man cannot exist in prison without God, and that it is stupid to believe that man can love humanity without God. Ivan, brother to Alyosha and Dmitri, also speaks to Alyosha on his beliefs in the existence of God. It was important because Mexico stopped the dictatorship of Porfirio Diaz and they established a constitutional republic. All of these people had a major role in the revolution and also in changing the future of Mexico. Each and everyone one of them had an impact as revolutionists. My interest in this paper is to consider a complex network prospective; the application of Competition Law, and more specifically related to its effects on monopolistic competition, and its effects on the local market and South African economy as a whole. South Africa (SA) was distant from many other major markets and production centers. This made it complex for international trade to compensate for these conditions, even though trade has expanded since 1994, mainly with the European (EU) and the United States (US). Tariff levels have declined on average, but anti dumping duties protect key industries such as steel, where the state has long had an interest and an exclusive export agent can prevent arbitrage between export and local markets. SA s history of import substitution and the attendant habits of business practice and government policy favored local insiders thus challenging other market entrants. This encouraged the new SA government to review the SA competition law regime in the White Paper on Reconstruction and Development in 1994. The need for a new competition policy in SA was because of excessive economic concentration and ownership, collusive practices by enterprises and the abuse of economic power by firms in dominant positions. A need for further transition emanated from the effects of globalization and trade liberalization and the need to redress past inequality and non participation in the national economy. Thus fundamental principle of competition policy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Acid base homeostasis is the part of human homeostasis and refers to the balance between the production and elimination of H+ hydrogen ions (pH) within the body fluids (William, Simpkins, 2001, p.236). Characteristics Of People Born In Different Generations From war hero conservatives to righteous college protesters to tech savvy teenagers, there are defining characteristics of people born in different eras. Many do not realize how much their environment and its history impacts them as a whole. The progression of history changes the conditions entire groups of people grow up in, which leads those groups to differ from each other in life. This type of group is called a generation. Each generation has its own events that happened in its lifetime (Ovadia). As a result, they all have widely differing characteristics and views that come from things like the state of the economy, current technology, parenting style, war, politics, or even the media; and all of this changes after a period of time (Neal). Modern America s living generations are called the G.I. Generation (or the Greatest Generation), the Baby Boomer Generation, Generation X, and the Millennials. The reason why none of them are exactly the same is the fact that none of them have truly experienced, or will ever experience, what the other ones have grown up with or, in most cases, without (Ovadia).
