Importance Of Following Orders Essay
The Importance Of Following Orders I am writing this essay on the importance of following order
because I recently disobeyed a few General orders. Our commanders put out orders and make them
very clear to us for multiple reasons. One of the main reasons is that these orders are there to protect
us as Soldiers and not only our images but the images of our fellow Soldiers and the Army itself. The
Army and our commanding officers have our best interests at hand and they put in place the orders
they do for that particular reason. As junior enlisted Soldiers we follow orders on a daily basis from
our NCO s in command of us so in this sense following orders is a part of our daily lives and jobs. We
are reminded every day of our unit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another order that I disobeyed was the USFK curfew time of being back on post by 0100. This is one
of the most important orders we are given as Soldiers in the Republic of Korea. It was General
Thurman, the USFK Commander, who put this law into effect. He did this so that Soldiers would not
get into trouble and to protect all of us. We are in a foreign country and we are not all familiar with the
areas around us or even fully understanding of their culture. It could be dangerous and we could be put
in harm s way if out to late as US Soldiers in this foreign country. The Curfew Law is also here
because a lot of Soldiers like to relax after work and have a few drinks and go out with some friends.
We have the curfew in place so that soldiers do not stay out all hours of the night getting belligerently
drunk. It alsp helps us not to be out so late and highly intoxicated so that we don t know what we re
doing or even spending all of our money. Being out late could also prevent us from functioning at one
hundred percent the next day if it is a work day. The curfew protects us from spending all night out
consuming alcohol and showing up the next day at work still intoxicated. This not only harms us but
the Soldiers we work with, but our entire unit. We are one team and only as strong as our weakest link.
On the night of 21 August 2012, I was our

Strategies And Instructional Methods Between Collaborative...
The terms cooperative and collaborative teaching sometimes are used correspondingly. In the context
of education, collaborative and cooperative teaching refers to the strategies and instructional methods
of teaching where the teacher guides the students in groups of various abilities, working together and
helping each of them to complete a course or project work provided. However in fact, both methods
are very different and this is very important to understand that the differences between these two
methods can be understood. Collaboration is a philosophy of interaction and personal lifestyle where
individuals are responsible for their actions, including learning and respect the abilities and
contributions of their peers; This is because, it is clear that collaborative learning itself emphasizes
interaction between group members and not the end result of a task. In other contexts it can be stated
that the quantity is focused and not quality. Thus, this study expects that all members of society to

the task was assigned by the teacher for them to complete. Firstly, the students work individually and
share their ideas and opinions in a large group. The particular task will be managed by the group
working together. In the end, the teacher asks a questions and every group will present their outcome
of the discussion related to the questions asked by the teacher. Therefore, this process can enhance the
students satisfaction with their learning experience and

Power And Lack Of The Restrictions
Arguably the most shocking show of power and the lack of the restrictions he faced in the original
documentary was when Theroux discovers that Savile has his personal details including home address
Savile simply states, There is nothing I can t do and nothing I can t get . Another showcase of this
level of power is within the report of another victim who was in hospital for burnt hands. Savile climb
in her window and whilst assaulting her, made comments about her past teen pregnancy, showing that
he had seen her medical records and knew her room number. The lack of restrictions or his way
around them seems to be a trait he has developed a long time ago when footage of him being filmed
unknowingly and stated that while he ran a nightclub I invented no tolerance, I was always in trouble
for being too heavy handed... I d tie them up in the boiler room not throw them out... if a police officer
ever came to me and you were a bit heavy with them last night , I d say your daughter comes in here,
she s sixteen... I presume you d like me to look after her, if not tell me and I ll let them do whatever
they want to her and I ve never altered . This shows early signs of his power and manipulation as he is
clearly violating the rules and even the authority of the police don t question him, when asked about it
claimed it was simply a figure of speech, although often refers to himself as the godfather (Larkin,

The Struggle For Meaning By Bruno Bettelheim
The definition of a fairy tale as written by the Oxford Dictionary is a children s story about magical
and imaginary beings and lands. Fairy Tales are known to be much more advanced than just a children
s story . These stories are known to have hidden messages. Three writers talk about fairy tales and
what it means to them. We will be looking at three important people and articles. The first article is
The Struggle for Meaning by Bruno Bettelheim. The second is by Alison Lurie that has written the
article What Fairy Tales Tell Us. The last is by Max Lüthi with the article The Fairy Tale Hero: The

Why is the fairy tale written? What is the points that we take away from the fairy tale? The different
ideas that authors have toward a fairy tale or any kind of writing has to do most with his or her
professional experiences. Bruno Bettelheim is known to be a child psychiatrist. Bettelheim states The
child, as he develops, must learn step by step to understand himself better; with this he becomes more
able to understand others and eventually can relate to them in ways which are mutually satisfying and
meaningful (Bettelheim 731). Bettelheim in this is talking about what he does. Bettelheim professional
area is a therapist of disturbed children. Bettelheim talks about his profession stating As an educator
and therapist of severely disturbed children, my main task was to restore meaning to their life
(Bettelheim 732). Just as Bettelheim said in the quote, his main task was to restore meaning to the
child s life, despite mental illness. Bettelheim believed that fairy tales was a way to relate to the
children. With children at such a young age, he believed fairy tales carried

Julius Robert Oppenheimer, the Man Who Created the Nuclear...
One man created a nuclear bomb, ended a world war, saved hundreds of thousands of lives, all while
creating a new wave of theoretical physics. He was born on April 22, 1904 in New York. His father,
who had come to the United States from Germany at the age of 17, was a prosperous textile importer.
His mother, Ella Freedman, was a painter who studied in Paris and came from Baltimore. He is Julius
Robert Oppenheimer. Oppenheimer was the most important person of the twentieth century due to his
creation of the School of Theoretical Physics in Berkeley, his crucial work on the development of the
atomic bomb, which ended World War II, and his thoughtful opposition to the great destruction that
could be wrought by the atomic bombs.

in H. A Bethe 191 192). Oppenheimer s role in the Manhattan Project was important for the United
States to develop the nuclear bomb before its opponents. If Oppenheimer was not involved, the
nuclear bomb may not have been created in time for its use in Japan, leading to hundreds of thousands
of unnecessary deaths. Estimates from the Radiation Effects Research Foundation, a cooperative Japan
US research organization, say that there were an estimated 90,000 to 166,000 casualties from the
bomb dropped in Hiroshima, Japan, and an estimated 60,000 to 80,000 casualties from the bomb
dropped in Nagasaki, Japan. If the United States had not had atomic bombs as a negotiation technique,
Imperial Japan would have kept fighting to keep their honor. This would have, most likely, led to a
land invasion, which would resulted in many more Japanese and American casualties. Oppenheimer
saved hundreds of thousands of lives and ended the second world war with his work at the Manhattan
Project.
However, the massive destruction wrought by the atomic bombs troubled Oppenheimer. He had not
considered the human toll that would be caused by the atomic bombs he and his team were working so
hard to create. At

Essay on The Embodiment of Suspense in Soccer
I cannot exactly place my reasoning, yet it still captivates me nonetheless. Soccer, or football, as most
of the world knows it, stands out at least to me from virtually all sports. My opinion may be biased
after a decade of playing, but there is a good reason I stuck with it for so long. While playing, I found
myself to become so impassioned with not just the obvious, drawn out goals of the game, but also
with the paralyzing suspense present in no other sport quite as it is in soccer. I find it to be equally as
exciting play as it is to behold. Seeing how one minute movement can completely change the outcome
of the game is a marvel even to witness, let alone play. You almost cannot afford to look away, as
every match is both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, during my warm ups and exercise, my nervousness began to clear. The familiarity of the
whole process worked to calm and comfort me. A renewed sense of confidence washed over me, only
just in time for the kick off. Matches are the focal point of the sport, the release of built up willpower,
tension, and training in a dizzying ensemble. They are what the herds of raucous and anxious
spectators come to watch, and what newscasters and television channels come to capture for millions
to see. However, they are but a fraction of the bigger picture. In preparation of an average game, we
would practice on average five times for a few hours each. And that was just at a more amateur level.
At the professional level of soccer, players practice multiple times a day, nearly every day. It is where
skills pertinent to winning are gained and how the necessary physique needed to perform physically is
maintained. Albeit, this is not the only important aspect of practicing. Bonds are formed among
players as well as between players and coaches. Mutual respect and trust are forged, which are just as
crucial to have as kinetic training or equipment. Soccer is a team sport, one in which you will not get
far without working as such. Teammates, much like warriors and soldiers, must have absolute trust
and confidence in their peers. They must be wise and selfless, knowing when to pass the ball or make
the shot themselves, or

How Does Bram Stoker Use Power In Dracula
Violence and Power Within Dracula s Grasp
Throughout many types of literature, violence exists to enhance the readers interest in order to add a
sense of excitement or conflict to a novel. This statement withholds much truthfulness due to the fact
that without violence in a piece of literature such as Dracula by Bram Stoker, the plot would not have
the same impact if it was lacking violence. Dracula s power and evilness led to the violent happenings
which began with the conflict of Jonathan s inner struggle, as compared to the conflict which
blossomed later on with good versus evil.
One case of violence that had occurred, not just for its own sake, happened in chapter seven, ... Show

As far fetched as the idea of a man being scared to death may seem, the old man most likely could
have been traumatized to this extent in relation to how Mina noted in her journal about quot;Death
quot;, capitalizing the quot;D quot; in significance to that of some supernatural or higher power. We as
readers start to believe that this quot;Death quot; the old man had seen, could very well be Dracula
himself.
Another example of violence transpiring for more than a sole purpose, is through the character of
Jonathan Harker. Jonathan is struggling with an inner conflict, and one of the supernatural; man versus
himself and man versus the supernatural. His inner conflict is due to the fact that in his mind, he is a
prisoner in Castle Dracula, and there are no means of escape. Therefore, the struggle within himself is
one of keeping his sanity and rational way of thinking, since he is such a rational, business minded
man. However, the most obvious conflict derives from the physical and mental struggle with Count
Dracula. The novel sets a tone of good versus evil or the supernatural, which is directly related to the
conflict. Accordingly, on June 29, the Count tells Jonathan that this is his last day when he stated,
quot;To morrow, my friend, we must part quot;(pg.51). After the Count led him to the door where the
wolves were howling, he

Vignette In The House On Mango Street
Growing up as a child could be looked at as a bumpy road. Average kid has everything they need;
food, shelter, and of course water. Whether it is the nicest of places, or the greatest neighborhood, with
the greatest food, now that s a different story. Here, The House on Mango Street takes short stories
called vignettes, all of which are told from the perspective of a thirteen year old girl named Esperanza.
As the story goes on, I notice how naïve Esperanza is. She definitely does not understand the concepts
going on around her. But as she gets older, I believe she will realize that she wants better for herself,
and whatever her future may bring. The very first vignette, Esperanza is explaining the house she is
moving into and also the house she use to live in. She described her old house as, Small, with red tight

She also says she can t be her sisters friend. She states that, They have got a lot to say to me and
Nenny inside the house. But outside of the house they cannot be seen talking to girls (Cisneros 8).
Esperanza also goes on to say, Nenny is too young to be my friend. She is just my sister and that was
not my fault (Cisneros 8). In my opinion, I think she wants to be her sisters friend, not just someone
she has to look after. Esperanza even says, Someday I will have a best friend. One I can share all my
secrets to (Cisneros 9). Throughout this vignette I got a sense that there was a reputation that the guys
wanted to keep. They did not want to be seen with their sisters, and the only time they spoke was
when they were home. Even then, I got the sense that the brothers picked on Esperanza and Nenny. I
know that Esperanza is not allowed to friends with her sister because she is younger. I could be
because it looks lame. As if Oh hey, her best friend is her little sister, how

Government In The Novel 1984 By George Orwell
There are several different governments in which any society can be considered in the modern day. To
be more specific, a totalitarian government is one that requires complete loyalty to the state and
exercises dictatorial control over most aspects of life. Citizens are also forbidden from having
differing opinions than those of the party. In the novel 1984, written by George Orwell, their
government in Oceania is an uncompromising enforced totalitarian. The people are forced to follow
the guidelines in place by the government. The people s aspects of life such as actions or feelings all
have to be in line with what the government allows. In Oceania, there is also a police force called the

Additionally, in both 1984 and The Holocaust, the regular citizens turned their back on their friends
and even family in an attempt to please the party in which they followed. The German people who
were forced to follow under tyrannical political control would rat on their Jewish neighbors and/or
family members so they could protect themselves from the harsh government they were under. In the
same fashion, 1984 forced families to turn on families and friends to give a cold shoulder to another
friend. In 1984, a bond through love gets ripped apart when Julia and Winston are forced to answer
questions in Room 101. Despite the fact that they both turned on each other, Winston learns that Julia
is the one who betrays him first. Do it to Julia! Do it to Julia! Not me! Julia! I don t care what you do
to her. Tear her face off, strip her to the bones. Not me! Julia! Not me! (Orwell 286.) Despite Winston
s devotion to Julia, the party still managed to get inside his head and made Winston betray Julia, even
after he said he never would. This is not the only betrayal to happen in the book but it is the biggest
one. One would never of guessed that two lovers would turn their backs on each other after have been

Behavior Disorders And Attention Deficit Hyperactivity...
Behavior disorder is defined as Any of various forms of behavior that are considered inappropriate by
members of the social group to which an individual belongs. (The American Heritage Stedman s
Medical Dictionary, 2015) Due to its broad definition, methods of identification, diagnosis, and
treatments are varied and controversial. After my son was diagnosed with Sensory Processing
Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in November of 2012, I recognized a stigma
within the community surrounding behavior disorders that made it difficult to find the appropriate
support for my son and my family. This paper will discuss the causes of behavior disorders, methods
for proper identification, and problems that can arise in the home, school, and community of a child
with a behavior disorder. Behavior disorders vary in symptoms and name, and can be divided into
several classifications, including anxiety disorders, disruptive behavior disorders, emotional disorders,
dissociative disorders, and pervasive developmental disorders. In addition to Sensory Processing
Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Bipolar Disorder and Autism fall under the
behavior umbrella. Like many other mental illnesses, direct causes of these disorders are hard to
pinpoint. Although the exact cause of most mental illnesses is not known, it is becoming clear through
research that many of these conditions are caused by a combination of biological, psychological and

However, individuals who were unemployed, poor, with a yearly income of $30,000 or less, or
without qualifications in regards to education were appreciably more prone to embrace behaviors
resulting in avoidance.7 Preventing influenza transmission and the development of ILI appears clear
cut with the proven preventive techniques. However, there are numerous aspects associated with
health related behaviors and perceptions that should be considered as well. Researchers proposed a
predictive model of unequal levels of influenza and mortality during a pandemic would be influenced
by social factors. These determinants included crowded households, reliance on public transportation,
and the inability to request time off from work. It was hypothesized that greater levels of crowding
and increased prevalence of various types of employment among distinct groups of the population
could possibly lead to inequalities in exposure to the virus. Difficulty associated with avoiding shared
means of transportation could be an additional inequality in relation to the causative agent. Missing
work, if employed as a policy for social distancing during the time of a pandemic, would very likely,
present more challenges for lower income workers, as they would be less able to account for the
ensuing loss of wages. At the start of the pandemic, the CDC recommended people with ILI stay

Tarrega The Black Death Analysis
In the text The Black Death and its Consequences for the Jewish Community in Tarrega, the authors
note that the discovery of communal burial sites in Tarrega (ca. 2007) now provides archeological
evidence for the documentary records of the mass murder of Jews in July, 1348. Long before the
discovery of the six communal grave sites, testimonies such as that of Hayyim Galipapa (1310 1380)
have provided textual records for the mass killing of Jews during the spread of the plague. The authors
argue that a consequence of the plague epidemic was the increase attacks on social minorities, Jews in
particular stood out as a powerful minority group which many of these attacks focused around. As
such, the Jewish community suffered disproportionately

Struggle Of The Black People
Struggle of the Black people in the southern Plantation Tradition stories have played a great role in the
lives of many children worldwide. Traditional stories have always carried with its hidden meanings
with each tackling a certain theme. The themes presented always refer to a certain period or a certain
event in some place. The stories use different literary stylistic devices to hide some of the themes
being presented or being passed to other generations. The oral traditions of African Americans were
responsible for the creation of the stories. This is the language pattern and speech ways of African
Americans slaves which are evidenced by the survival of West African beliefs (Flora and MacKethan
7). One of the stories that have been widely used today is the story Uncle Remus, His Songs and His
Sayings. The story was written by Joel Chandler Harris and it uses an allegory to present the suffering
that the black people underwent in the southern plantation (Flora and MacKethan 920). The book
reflects the powerlessness of the black people and the white domination over African Americans. It
shows how the African Americans had to use trickery to withstand the treatment they received from
the white man. One of the widely known stories in the book is The Wonderful Tar Baby. In this story,
Brer Rabbit is walking, and he encounters the tar baby, a doll made of both tar and turpentine to trap
Brer Rabbit (Chandler 9). Brer Fox successfully entraps Brer Rabbit by setting the Tar

Comparison Of Gestures In France And America
1. Greetings
When you meet a new person in France, the polite thing to do would be to shake their hand, say hello,
and introduce yourself to everyone in the room if you had just arrived. If you were greeting a close
friend of family member you would then kiss them once on each cheek (3 kisses in South France).
Friends address each other with their first names in an informal manner like many young people do.
Adults tend to be more conservative and formal and tend to be un expressive in front of people they
don t know well. Some inappropriate conversation topics would be anything having to do with: age,
income, occupation, family, asking how much something costs, asking where something was
purchased, talking loudly, chewing gum, and calling attention to oneself.
2. Gestures Body language such as hand gestures and facial expressions is very important while
talking to the French (especially in the South). Exaggerated expressions and movements help convey
the reality of a story or explanation. Gestures in France and America are quite similar. Shrugging your
shoulders means that you don t know or you don t care. Putting up both of your hands with your palms
up illustrates helplessness or anger. And making a circle with your thumb and forefinger stands for
saying that something is okay or even perfect.

Also the BMW does not manufacture product in their plants they only assemble the vehicles. BMW s
manufacturing cost when compared to the manufacturing costs of other car companies are a lot higher
therefore making its product development cost higher. This has the potential to cut into their general

need from their German base
OPPORTUNITIES
The European Union is one of the world s biggest trading federations, with a population of millions;
this is due to the European union s constant expansions. With BMW having a strong position in the
premium car segment in Europe because of its German roots, it is likely that BMW would be able to
target a larger market share across the new and expanding markets.
BMW s launch into the Chinese Luxury car market seems to be a promising venture, as china already
ranked 12th in the BMW market in 2002 and 3rd largest market for BMW s 7 series luxury limousine,
with a little more robust growth china is predicted to be amongst the 7th largest markets in the coming
years ahead, which is an opportunity for BMW to enjoy an increase in its profits.
In order to cut cost, it would be more profitable to BMW, if they manufactured their own products and
raw materials. This is because BMW already spends a lot of resources on its manufacturing costs,

Essay on Don t Ask, Don t Tell
Imagine being in the heat of war, a place where trust is needed most. Imagine, however, that in the
heat of war you cannot trust your fellow soldier because of personal tensions within the unit. It was
this problem that the policy known as Don t Ask, Don t Tell was designed to avoid, the tension caused
between soldiers when homosexuals are serving openly. Without this policy, homosexuals serving
openly could create tension that interferes with the military s effectiveness. While it may not be
obvious at first, the policy of Don t Ask Don t Tell actually supports the both values of the military
and the rights of homosexuals. As a result, Don t Ask Don t Tell is needed to protect homosexual

This policy was created to secure the military s effectiveness but also to protect homosexuals.
Without Don t Ask Don t Tell homosexuals are subject to more discrimination and abuse. Don t Ask
Don t Tell protects homosexuals from the most harmful situations. A large number of the military
members join at a young age, shortly after graduating from high school. They are often from small
towns and conservative backgrounds, and as a result they have less exposure to the homosexual
lifestyle (Beattie). This means the majority of incoming soldiers may not be as accepting towards
homosexuals, which could result in harassment and abuse. The Winchell Case is a good example of
what could happen if an open policy is enacted (Walke).
In 1999, Private Barry Winchell was killed by another soldier. An investigation revealed that Winchell
s fellow officers had discovered he was homosexual and had been harassing him for months before the
fatal assault. If Winchell s superiors had followed the current policy, than he would have been
removed from the unit and might have escaped unharmed (Walke). Without Don t Ask Don t Tell these
types of situations could occur very easily. Because many people cannot accept their lifestyle,
homosexuals need to be provided with as much protection as possible; especially in small units and
tight living conditions experienced in the

1914 was the year that changed Europe the start of World War I. Total was broke out between
Germany, France, Britain, and Russia and it was the first total war in history. Many historians have
takes on World War I, not that it was just a total war, but also because this time in Europe, it was a
completely different kind of war that was being fought. In Understanding the Great War, World War I
was a break from the history of warfare because of its violent style of fighting, its influence on women

A completely different approach from battles in the past was that in World War I, civilians became a
new target. When Germany would invade a country, the troops would attack civilians and even
imprison them (Audoin Rouzeau Becker 45). These prisoners of war were then put into camps on
German territory and because of the blockade against Germany created by Britain to lessen their
resources; the prisoners were being deprived of food (Audoin Rouzeau Becker 62). German military
would even use the prisoners in battles, turning them into human shields for protection (Audoin
Rouzeau Becker 77). German troops even went to the extreme with attacking civilians by exiling them
to face starvation, as German military did with the Armenians (Audoin Rouzeau Becker 64). The
German military used genocide to ultimately fight against their opposing nations. Another way
opposing sides would fight against one another was through the use of tanks and planes, a concept
never used before because of technology. Bombs were then dropped onto enemy s territory, killing
almost all innocent people (Audoin Rouzeau Becker 108). By using excessive violence, psychological
damage that was irreversible was inflicted on a vast majority of soldiers, still inflicting harm even
after the war ended (Audoin Rouzeau Becker 25). This new style of fighting

A Case Study on Compartment Syndrome of the Forearm in a soccer player
Objective: To describe the evaluation, diagnosis, and current treatment of a men s soccer player with
compartment syndrome of the forearm.
Background: The forearm is the most common site for compartment syndrome in the upper extremity.
The compartments of the forearm include the volar (anterior or flexor), and the dorsal (posterior or
exterior). Both bone forearm fractures and distal radius fractures are common initial injuries that lead
to acute forearm compartment syndrome. The flexor digitorum profundus and flexor pollicis longus

Acute compartment syndrome is a medical emergency. It is usually cause by a severe injury. And
without treatment, it can lead to permanent muscle damage. Chronic compartment syndrome, also
known as exertional compartment syndrome, is usually not an emergency. This is most often caused
by an athletic exertion. Because the fascia does not stretch, this can cause increase pressure on the
capillaries, nerves and muscles in the compartment. The blood flow to the muscle and nerve cells is
disrupted. Without a steady supply of oxygen and nutrients, the nerve and muscle cells can be
damaged. Compartment syndrome most often occurs in the anterior compartment of the lower leg. But
can also be present in other compartments in the leg, as well as the arms, hands, feet and buttocks. The
pain and swelling of chronic compartment syndrome is caused by exercise. Athletes who participant in
activities with repetitive motions, such as running, biking, or swimming, are more likely to develop
chronic compartment syndrome. This is usually relieved by discontinuing the exercise and is usually
not dangerous. Acute compartment syndrome usually develops after a severe injury such as a broken
bone. Rarely does it develop after a relatively minor injury. Conditions that may bring on acute
compartment syndrome include: a fracture, badly bruised muscle, reestablished blood flow after block
circulation, or constricting bandages. The classic sign of acute

The Bank of England could purchase pounds by selling dollars in order to shift the demand curve for
pounds and the Fed could shift the demand curve by buying the pounds. If the British choose to
purchase more of U.S. goods and services, the supply curve for pounds increases, and the equilibrium
exchange rate for the pound (in terms of dollars) falls to, say, $3. Under the terms of the Bretton
Woods Agreement, Britain and the United States would be required to intervene in the market to bring
the exchange rate back to the rate fixed in the agreement, $4. The fixed exchange rate systems offer
the advantage of predictable currency values when they are working. In order for the fixed exchange
rates to work, the countries participating in them must maintain domestic economic conditions that
will keep equilibrium currency values close to the fixed rates.
If adjustment were made by the British central bank, Bank of England, it would have to purchase
pounds and would do so by exchanging dollars it had previously acquired in other transactions for
pounds. As it sold dollars, it would take in checks written in pounds. When a central bank sells an
asset, the checks that come into the central bank reduce the money supply and bank reserves in that
country and holders of pound deposits will attempt to sell them for foreign deposits. The sale of
dollars by the Bank of England would reduce the

The Pros And Cons Of Private Prisons
Hoarse yelling, officers shouting out orders, threats being passed brazenly between those in power and
those whose power has been stripped away. While this may sound like a line that could be from a

things like this have actually happened in the United States. From the year 1980 to the year 2010
people incarcerated for federal drug charges increase from 4,749 people to 97,472. While those
statistics may be shocking, the fact that approximately half of the people with federal drug charges are

There are many private prison deals where people have either invested their money into the prisons or
the prison has backed another business or running candidate with the prison s money. Regardless of
which way it goes, both sides usually come out on top with the prisoners losing. One group even
created something called the Prison Divestment Campaign in 2011. The campaign was formed by
several groups working together to try and get investors to pull out of private prison deals (Magee 49

privatized seeing as a piece of the judicial branch already had. The lobbying, however, can be proven
especially with recent events. The day Donald Trump was elected to be the US President stock prices
of CCA had risen by 43% and the stock for the GEO Group had risen by 21%. Just a few day after and
the stock had risen above 100% from what it had previously been. During the time of his campaign
Donald Trump had repeatedly spoken of cities and embellished their crime rates. Trump s propaganda,
as well as his fiery immigration speeches, has led to incarceration rates slowly climbing. Under Trump

The legal responsibilities of the jury demonstrate the second topic area in the AP Government Course,
Political Beliefs and Behaviors. As seen in the film, many jurors misunderstand their legal duties, and
some simply do not understand the concept of unreasonable doubt. For example, the seventh juror is
more concerned about the baseball game than thoroughly sorting through the evidence. Additionally,
two jurors play a game of tic tac toe, treating the defendant s life like a game. They trust the
circumstantial evidence because it confirms their bigoted attitudes. For instance, the sixth juror
believes that the boy is a murderer because of his low socioeconomic background and they all assume
that the boy is guilty because of the witnesses testimonies. All these events display the ways in which
each character participates in political life and exercises their opinion and views on politics.

The Importance Of Violent Immigrants Into The United States
Is it right to prevent immigrants from other countries to come into the United States? Did you know
U.S. Immigration and customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested more than 41,300 undocumented
immigrants in the 100 days since president Trump signed a pair of executive orders tightening border
security and cracking down on sanctuary cities (Bendix). Well in many cases these undocumented
immigrants are simply looking for better living in the United States for the fact that where they come
from it s hard to find stable jobs, good living and education. The reason why president Trump signed a
pair of executive orders was to get rid of undocumented immigrants with a criminal record or who
pose a threat to national security remain a priority for the agency (Homan). For this reason, preventing
undocumented immigrants with a criminal record should not come to the U.S. to prevent violence into
the U.S. also undocumented immigrants come to the U.S looking for good stable jobs and housing;
even though it can be scary for them because they could get caught by (ICE) they still take risks for
their families to have the right education and opportunities they never had back home.
It s not right to prevent undocumented immigrants from other countries to come to the U.S. unless
they have a criminal record. In the U.S. there has been cases of undocumented immigrants who have
been arrested that have criminal records, According to Wednesday s report, nearly 75 percent of

The Six Cultural Differences Of Barbie In China
Introduction
Mattel attempted to incorporate Barbie into China by opening a Barbie store. The business failed due
to Mattel not researching the market and how to incorporate the products into the Chinese market.
There are many cultural differences that Mattel needed to take into consideration before they
attempted to bring Barbie to China. Problems Mattel Faced
According to Wang (2012), Mattel did not fully understand what Chinese girls and women wanted
from a doll. Femininity is different in China compared to what it can be defined as in the United
States. Mattel opened a large store in Shanghai that not only had Barbie dolls, but also accessories and
activities for consumers such as a runway and dressing rooms. The Barbie doll was not an icon in
China like it has become in the United States and the store suffered because the relevance of Barbie
and associated products was not a part of what the Chinese girls wanted. Six Cultural Issues and
Mattel Performance
Values and Attitudes
The Chinese people want to have relationships with possible business partners before they do business
with them. The Chinese believe in socializing and getting to know people as a way to see what type of
person they will be dealing with. This is called guanxi (Firoz, Nadeem M. Topchaya, Olga, 2016).
Chinese businesses will not focus on efficiency and view change as disruptive to their business. When
Mattel brought the Barbie store into Shanghai, the Chinese people did not know Mattel and how
Mattel would be conducting business in their city. This caused uncertainty and Chinese people not
knowing if they wanted to do business with Mattel.
Dress codes
Chinese women tend to dress more conservatively. Chinese women often do not wear midriff shirts or
plunging necklines, but tend to wear clothes that do not accentuate their body and curves(Aaker
Schmitt, 2001). Barbie is known to have curves and tight fitting clothing that more fits the western
culture.
Marketing styles differences
When marketing in China you need to focus on the consumers getting to know the product before
placing it in stores or opening a new business. The Barbie store opened in a single location in a large
country which could be

A Leader s Courage, Knowledge, And Wisdom
Introduction
A Leader s Courage, Knowledge, and Wisdom
The book Resilient Leader discusses many avenues of direction to promptly lead and organize. The
three components learned will be discussed in this paper are courage, knowledge and wisdom, these
three components have a congruent purpose that will be explained in this paper. The next section
includes strategies that organizations can use to improve their processes, to build up their leaders
leadership skills, and increase their performance. The last sections contain a biblical integration of
courage, knowledge, and wisdom, followed by concluding remarks.
Courage
Hoff, (2015) states that some of the traits of a courageous leader are able to face adversity, holding
everyone to the same standards, encourages feedback, ask peers and employees for their input, and
have the ability to foster change in an organization. John Maxwell stated that a great leader s courage
to fulfill his vision comes from, passion, not position (Hoff, 2015, p. 33). According to the Blackboard
video, there are many types of courage found in leaders, such as mental, moral, emotional, physical,
and spiritual (Dees, 2014). When a leader is in the midst of a crisis and acts boldly, with courage, it
can define courage as the ability to take the proper action, to do the right thing, for the right reasons, in
the most efficient and effective way for all concerned.

Disadvantages Of Razor Blades
Introduction
Razor blades are a common topic in the world of consumers. They are available in many different
variations and from many different brands. Differences in price are huge, often resulting in frustrations
from consumers. In this thesis, I will try to explain differences between the brands by taking a closer
look at the technical aspects of the available razor blades.
Diamond like carbon is a class of amorphous carbon material which displays some typical properties
of diamond. This material is often applied as coating to other materials so that it can benefit from
some of the material properties of the DLC (diamond like carbon). It is known that one of the
properties of a DLC is a high hardness, which, on the other hand, makes it difficult to bond the
material to most metals. Some processes are known to tackle this problem, which we will discuss later.
[1]
Around the year 2000 more became known about the attractive properties of diamond like carbons and
Gillette, the market leader of razor blades, saw its potential. Gillette patented the use of particular
DLC s applied to the cutting edges of the razors. By that it improved the hardness, shave ability and
corrosion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often people do not understand why the shaving experience could be so different. This is possibly
caused by the DLC s, which may not be used by store brands because of patents. Gillette has been
very smart creating a fence around itself by having so many patents regarding the cutting edges of
razors. It can really distinguish from the cheaper brands with this technology. Apparently consumers
really seem to like the razor blades with DLC film applied to it, while Gillette is the global market
leader with 70 percent in the grooming business. [5] The DLC results in longer useful life and

Identifying A Cluster Of Media Communication
Examining a cluster of media communication in order to review common and unique approaches that
the marketing industry utilizes was not something that crossed my mind to ever do. The task was not
as easy as I expected when explained in class; but, it was interesting and seeing as though I have
learned over the years through my other classes that the average American spends somewhere near 8
hours of their day watching television, the marketing industry has a big advantage using commercials
to attract their viewers and manipulate them into purchasing and using or consuming the product they
are delivering to them through the television screen. For this assignment, I tuned into TBS where an
episode of Friends was finishing up and an episode ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of all the commercials I saw, they were all geared towards young adults and older. From Ink Joy pen
commercials to a Realtor.com commercial with Pepsi, Pizza Hut, and Reds Ale in between, these
commercials seem to be heavily concentrated on adults, the activities they take part in, and the
resources they will need for future endeavors. I was unable to document a significant difference in the
types of commercials shown during these programs in order to have much of a comparison, but there
was enough alike about them to dissect them and really figure out the methods which broadcasting
companies use in order to attract their buyers and consumers. For every television channel I have ever
watched throughout my life the commercials have always been significantly louder than the actual
show I am viewing; not just for these two channels, but I did notice it more when actually having to
pay attention. Why does this annoying thing constantly happen every channel I choose to watch? The
answer to this question: marketing purposes. It is in the companies best interest on becoming
successful with the product they are attempting to sell by turning the volume up on their commercials
louder than the actual television show because it attracts the viewers and manipulates them in to
paying attention to them. People are not watching television shows to see the commercials; maybe

Code Talkers Essay
In this precursor research paper, I will conduct a study of the code talkers from WWII. The purpose of
this study is to remind other colleagues the significance of the Navajos throughout World War II. I will
use the following articles for my research, World War II Time Line (Nationalgeographic.com), Semper
Fidelis, Code talkers (Adam Jevec), Memorandum Regarding The Enlistment of Navajo
(archives.gov), Navajo Code Talkers And World War II 1943 (recordsofrights.org), and lastly the
Unbreakable: Remembering the Code Talkers (Hilary Parkinson). The main idea of my paper would
be an insight look on who the code talkers were. Whose idea was it to form this group? What role did
the Navajos play in World War II, and why the Navajos? The first article that stood out to me was
Semper Fidelis, Code Talkers (Adam Jevec). The article mentions the history of code talkers, the
reason why they were created, and the goal that they achieved. The ... Show more content on

In other words, without the Navajos, we wouldn t have been able to defeat the Japanese after they had
bomb Pearl Harbor. The second article, Memorandum Regarding The Enlistment of Navajo
(archives.org) states, Philip Johnston was the initiator of the Marine Corps program to enlist and train
the Navajos as messengers. Although Johnston was not a Navajo, he grew up on a Navajo reservation
as the son of a missionary and became familiar with the people and their language. This quote
illustrated us, who exactly came up with the idea of the code talkers. Furthermore, Phillip Johnston
was the mastermind of code talkers, even though he didn t speak the

Breaking Stereotypes
Stereotypes are prevailing and oversimplified ideas of particular groups of people or certain things,
and they have been around for a long time. Stereotypes are immensely detrimental to a myriad of
people because they abject and discriminate them, as well as cause division and separation amongst
certain communities. Breaking stereotypes is important due to the social climate that we are currently
in today. Racism and discrimination are ubiquitous because people of colour are painted in a negative
light due to the stereotypes they are given.
Stereotypes are harmful for many reasons; one being that gender stereotypes, specifically, objectify
and are demeaning to women (or anyone who identifies as a female). In my Stereotype Student
Interview Protocol, Student #2 told me, ...people think that women are weak...are great at
cleaning...and it is their job to take care of the children. Another student also told me an anecdote on
how teachers always chose the males to help them with certain tasks, as though it was a man s job and
that women are unable to do such a task. Comments and actions like ... Show more content on

They ignore and disregard the humainess, potential, and uniqueness of people; along with causing
division and separation in certain communities. In Grappling With Gentrification As A Middle Class
Black American, Kashana Cauley explains, The traditional understanding of gentrification hinges on
black racial stereotypes, which presumes blacks to be poor and whites to be wealthy. This
authenticates the fact that people of colour are perceived to be subordinate to whites, which
substantially diminishes them as people. Additionally, according to How a Self Fulfilling Stereotype
Can Drag Down Performance, ...reminding African Americans and Latinos about their race...can hurt
their performance. This ratifies that people s confidence and performance is deteriorated once they are
reminded about racial

Literary Devices In Plowing Equality
All men are created equal is one of the most recognizable phrases of the American democracy.
However, the poem Plowing Equality argues that this equality is not shared by all, as many would like
to think. The poem shows that government has created an arbitrary hierarchy that deprives all
Americans of their true rights. The use of metaphors and repetition clearly describes the transition of
the United States from one of equality and success to hierarchy and sorrow because of the strict
governmental and societal boundaries implemented. Throughout the poem, the ocean metaphor
juxtaposes the static plots, highlighting the results of structured government in the United States.
Before the travelers arrived, an emerald ocean spanned the land (Dickey 18, 6). The native grasses
undulated, which the different line lengths mimic (1). Even with the introduction of new plants, they
all work harmoniously, creating a medley (7). The ocean metaphor symbolizes the fluidity that people
can obtain before the structure of strong government and systemic structures. However, once the
travelers arrive, the ocean...is drained to build a town (9). They devolve the ocean into neat and static
squares (12). Again, the lines parallel the plants, transitioning from undulating lengths to boxy,
straight cut lines similar to the rows and columns straight of the plots (14). The structure created
classes, giving greater opportunities to those they deemed important and worthy, while the unwanted
were relegated to bad plots: Fruitful nearest the cottage while Shrubs to the darkest plot (18, 19).
Government and this perpetual culture have divided America into groups based on type, not fluid, not
interacting, only giving different levels of worth depending on what they find most helpful. Once a
land of fluidity, symbiotic relationship, everyone worked together, on an equal footing. The use of
repetition depicts the re emergence of America s diversity. Alliteration coincides with the emergence
of unique flowers. From the native grasses, a sole scarlet speck grew (4). The single sapphire
snapdragon at the end emerges from the shrubs (21). These s alliterations highlight the importance of
the moment and shows the isolation

Information And Database Management Systems
Week 1: Overview of Information and Database Management Systems 6411 2 Main Post
The Database Management System of a healthcare organization is an application to perform
administrative tasks on a database and interacts with the data stored in the databases. Years ago
information was managed by a hands on method such as files in the file cabinet. Now, databases are
utilized by technology to drive and manage information. These databases are an organized collection
of data typically stored in an electronic format. Databases allow input, manage, organize, and retrieve
data quickly (Cornell, and Morris, 2015). Then Technology takes the data collected and transforms it
into information which becomes knowledge to the users. The purpose of the study is to examine the
use of the database system in nursing and to determine the benefits and challenges of the healthcare
organization to use database systems and data.
Analyze the use of database systems and data in nursing practice
Select a database system that you encounter at work or with which you are familiar.
As the introduction of the study states, many healthcare organizations are exploring new ways to use
this data to improve health outcomes and the quality of patient care (Laureate edu, 2015). For
instance, Methodist Hospital of Houston Texas embraces the use of database system in their laboratory
which is just one example of technology. What s helpful about using the database systems? For
example, the database

  • 3. Importance Of Following Orders Essay The Importance Of Following Orders I am writing this essay on the importance of following order because I recently disobeyed a few General orders. Our commanders put out orders and make them very clear to us for multiple reasons. One of the main reasons is that these orders are there to protect us as Soldiers and not only our images but the images of our fellow Soldiers and the Army itself. The Army and our commanding officers have our best interests at hand and they put in place the orders they do for that particular reason. As junior enlisted Soldiers we follow orders on a daily basis from our NCO s in command of us so in this sense following orders is a part of our daily lives and jobs. We are reminded every day of our unit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another order that I disobeyed was the USFK curfew time of being back on post by 0100. This is one of the most important orders we are given as Soldiers in the Republic of Korea. It was General Thurman, the USFK Commander, who put this law into effect. He did this so that Soldiers would not get into trouble and to protect all of us. We are in a foreign country and we are not all familiar with the areas around us or even fully understanding of their culture. It could be dangerous and we could be put in harm s way if out to late as US Soldiers in this foreign country. The Curfew Law is also here because a lot of Soldiers like to relax after work and have a few drinks and go out with some friends. We have the curfew in place so that soldiers do not stay out all hours of the night getting belligerently drunk. It alsp helps us not to be out so late and highly intoxicated so that we don t know what we re doing or even spending all of our money. Being out late could also prevent us from functioning at one hundred percent the next day if it is a work day. The curfew protects us from spending all night out consuming alcohol and showing up the next day at work still intoxicated. This not only harms us but the Soldiers we work with, but our entire unit. We are one team and only as strong as our weakest link. On the night of 21 August 2012, I was our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Soccer, or football, as most of the world knows it, stands out at least to me from virtually all sports. My opinion may be biased after a decade of playing, but there is a good reason I stuck with it for so long. While playing, I found myself to become so impassioned with not just the obvious, drawn out goals of the game, but also with the paralyzing suspense present in no other sport quite as it is in soccer. They are what the herds of raucous and anxious spectators come to watch, and what newscasters and television channels come to capture for millions to see. However, they are but a fraction of the bigger picture. In preparation of an average game, we would practice on average five times for a few hours each. And that was just at a more amateur level. At the professional level of soccer, players practice multiple times a day, nearly every day. It is where skills pertinent to winning are gained and how the necessary physique needed to perform physically is maintained. Albeit, this is not the only important aspect of practicing. Bonds are formed among players as well as between players and coaches. Mutual respect and trust are forged, which are just as crucial to have as kinetic training or equipment. • 11. How Does Bram Stoker Use Power In Dracula Violence and Power Within Dracula s Grasp Throughout many types of literature, violence exists to enhance the readers interest in order to add a sense of excitement or conflict to a novel. This statement withholds much truthfulness due to the fact that without violence in a piece of literature such as Dracula by Bram Stoker, the plot would not have the same impact if it was lacking violence. Dracula s power and evilness led to the violent happenings which began with the conflict of Jonathan s inner struggle, as compared to the conflict which blossomed later on with good versus evil. As far fetched as the idea of a man being scared to death may seem, the old man most likely could have been traumatized to this extent in relation to how Mina noted in her journal about quot;Death quot;, capitalizing the quot;D quot; in significance to that of some supernatural or higher power. We as readers start to believe that this quot;Death quot; the old man had seen, could very well be Dracula himself. Another example of violence transpiring for more than a sole purpose, is through the character of Jonathan Harker. Jonathan is struggling with an inner conflict, and one of the supernatural; man versus himself and man versus the supernatural. His inner conflict is due to the fact that in his mind, he is a prisoner in Castle Dracula, and there are no means of escape. Therefore, the struggle within himself is one of keeping his sanity and rational way of thinking, since he is such a rational, business minded man. However, the most obvious conflict derives from the physical and mental struggle with Count Dracula. The novel sets a tone of good versus evil or the supernatural, which is directly related to the conflict. Here, The House on Mango Street takes short stories called vignettes, all of which are told from the perspective of a thirteen year old girl named Esperanza. In my opinion, I think she wants to be her sisters friend, not just someone she has to look after. Esperanza even says, Someday I will have a best friend. One I can share all my secrets to (Cisneros 9). Throughout this vignette I got a sense that there was a reputation that the guys wanted to keep. Behavior disorder is defined as Any of various forms of behavior that are considered inappropriate by members of the social group to which an individual belongs. (The American Heritage Stedman s Medical Dictionary, 2015) Due to its broad definition, methods of identification, diagnosis, and treatments are varied and controversial. After my son was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in November of 2012, I recognized a stigma within the community surrounding behavior disorders that made it difficult to find the appropriate support for my son and my family. This paper will discuss the causes of behavior disorders, methods for proper identification, and problems that can arise in the home, school, and community of a child with a behavior disorder. It was hypothesized that greater levels of crowding and increased prevalence of various types of employment among distinct groups of the population could possibly lead to inequalities in exposure to the virus. The stories use different literary stylistic devices to hide some of the themes being presented or being passed to other generations. The oral traditions of African Americans were responsible for the creation of the stories. This is the language pattern and speech ways of African Americans slaves which are evidenced by the survival of West African beliefs (Flora and MacKethan 7). One of the stories that have been widely used today is the story Uncle Remus, His Songs and His Sayings. The story was written by Joel Chandler Harris and it uses an allegory to present the suffering that the black people underwent in the southern plantation (Flora and MacKethan 920). The book reflects the powerlessness of the black people and the white domination over African Americans. It shows how the African Americans had to use trickery to withstand the treatment they received from the white man. One of the widely known stories in the book is The Wonderful Tar Baby. In this story, Brer Rabbit is walking, and he encounters the tar baby, a doll made of both tar and turpentine to trap Brer Rabbit (Chandler 9). • 22. Comparison Of Gestures In France And America 1. Greetings When you meet a new person in France, the polite thing to do would be to shake their hand, say hello, and introduce yourself to everyone in the room if you had just arrived. If you were greeting a close friend of family member you would then kiss them once on each cheek (3 kisses in South France). Friends address each other with their first names in an informal manner like many young people do. Adults tend to be more conservative and formal and tend to be un expressive in front of people they don t know well. Some inappropriate conversation topics would be anything having to do with: age, income, occupation, family, asking how much something costs, asking where something was purchased, talking loudly, chewing gum, and calling attention to oneself. 2. Gestures Body language such as hand gestures and facial expressions is very important while talking to the French (especially in the South). Exaggerated expressions and movements help convey the reality of a story or explanation. Gestures in France and America are quite similar. Shrugging your shoulders means that you don t know or you don t care. Putting up both of your hands with your palms up illustrates helplessness or anger. And making a circle with your thumb and forefinger stands for saying that something is okay or even perfect. 3. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Winchell Case is a good example of what could happen if an open policy is enacted (Walke). In 1999, Private Barry Winchell was killed by another soldier. Chronic compartment syndrome, also known as exertional compartment syndrome, is usually not an emergency. This is most often caused by an athletic exertion. Because the fascia does not stretch, this can cause increase pressure on the capillaries, nerves and muscles in the compartment. The blood flow to the muscle and nerve cells is disrupted. Without a steady supply of oxygen and nutrients, the nerve and muscle cells can be damaged. Compartment syndrome most often occurs in the anterior compartment of the lower leg. But can also be present in other compartments in the leg, as well as the arms, hands, feet and buttocks. The pain and swelling of chronic compartment syndrome is caused by exercise. Athletes who participant in activities with repetitive motions, such as running, biking, or swimming, are more likely to develop chronic compartment syndrome. If the British choose to purchase more of U.S. goods and services, the supply curve for pounds increases, and the equilibrium exchange rate for the pound (in terms of dollars) falls to, say, $3. Under the terms of the Bretton Woods Agreement, Britain and the United States would be required to intervene in the market to bring the exchange rate back to the rate fixed in the agreement, $4. The fixed exchange rate systems offer the advantage of predictable currency values when they are working. Well in many cases these undocumented immigrants are simply looking for better living in the United States for the fact that where they come from it s hard to find stable jobs, good living and education. The reason why president Trump signed a pair of executive orders was to get rid of undocumented immigrants with a criminal record or who pose a threat to national security remain a priority for the agency (Homan). There are many cultural differences that Mattel needed to take into consideration before they attempted to bring Barbie to China. Problems Mattel Faced According to Wang (2012), Mattel did not fully understand what Chinese girls and women wanted from a doll. Femininity is different in China compared to what it can be defined as in the United States. Mattel opened a large store in Shanghai that not only had Barbie dolls, but also accessories and activities for consumers such as a runway and dressing rooms. The Barbie doll was not an icon in China like it has become in the United States and the store suffered because the relevance of Barbie and associated products was not a part of what the Chinese girls wanted. Six Cultural Issues and Mattel Performance Values and Attitudes The Chinese people want to have relationships with possible business partners before they do business with them. The Chinese believe in socializing and getting to know people as a way to see what type of person they will be dealing with. This is called guanxi (Firoz, Nadeem M. Topchaya, Olga, 2016). Diamond like carbon is a class of amorphous carbon material which displays some typical properties of diamond. This material is often applied as coating to other materials so that it can benefit from some of the material properties of the DLC (diamond like carbon). • 41. Code Talkers Essay In this precursor research paper, I will conduct a study of the code talkers from WWII. The purpose of this study is to remind other colleagues the significance of the Navajos throughout World War II. I will use the following articles for my research, World War II Time Line (Nationalgeographic.com), Semper Fidelis, Code talkers (Adam Jevec), Memorandum Regarding The Enlistment of Navajo (archives.gov), Navajo Code Talkers And World War II 1943 (recordsofrights.org), and lastly the Unbreakable: Remembering the Code Talkers (Hilary Parkinson). The main idea of my paper would be an insight look on who the code talkers were. Whose idea was it to form this group? What role did the Navajos play in World War II, and why the Navajos? The first article that stood out to me was Semper Fidelis, Code Talkers (Adam Jevec). The article mentions the history of code talkers, the reason why they were created, and the goal that they achieved. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words, without the Navajos, we wouldn t have been able to defeat the Japanese after they had bomb Pearl Harbor. The second article, Memorandum Regarding The Enlistment of Navajo (archives.org) states, Philip Johnston was the initiator of the Marine Corps program to enlist and train the Navajos as messengers. Although Johnston was not a Navajo, he grew up on a Navajo reservation as the son of a missionary and became familiar with the people and their language. This quote illustrated us, who exactly came up with the idea of the code talkers. Furthermore, Phillip Johnston was the mastermind of code talkers, even though he didn t speak the ... • 42. Breaking Stereotypes Stereotypes are prevailing and oversimplified ideas of particular groups of people or certain things, and they have been around for a long time. Stereotypes are immensely detrimental to a myriad of people because they abject and discriminate them, as well as cause division and separation amongst certain communities. Breaking stereotypes is important due to the social climate that we are currently in today. Racism and discrimination are ubiquitous because people of colour are painted in a negative light due to the stereotypes they are given. Stereotypes are harmful for many reasons; one being that gender stereotypes, specifically, objectify and are demeaning to women (or anyone who identifies as a female). In my Stereotype Student Interview Protocol, Student #2 told me, ...people think that women are weak...are great at cleaning...and it is their job to take care of the children. Another student also told me an anecdote on how teachers always chose the males to help them with certain tasks, as though it was a man s job and that women are unable to do such a task. In Grappling With Gentrification As A Middle Class Black American, Kashana Cauley explains, The traditional understanding of gentrification hinges on black racial stereotypes, which presumes blacks to be poor and whites to be wealthy. This authenticates the fact that people of colour are perceived to be subordinate to whites, which substantially diminishes them as people. • 43. Literary Devices In Plowing Equality All men are created equal is one of the most recognizable phrases of the American democracy. However, the poem Plowing Equality argues that this equality is not shared by all, as many would like to think. The poem shows that government has created an arbitrary hierarchy that deprives all Americans of their true rights. The use of metaphors and repetition clearly describes the transition of the United States from one of equality and success to hierarchy and sorrow because of the strict governmental and societal boundaries implemented. Throughout the poem, the ocean metaphor juxtaposes the static plots, highlighting the results of structured government in the United States. Before the travelers arrived, an emerald ocean spanned the land (Dickey 18, 6). The native grasses undulated, which the different line lengths mimic (1). Even with the introduction of new plants, they all work harmoniously, creating a medley (7). The ocean metaphor symbolizes the fluidity that people can obtain before the structure of strong government and systemic structures. However, once the travelers arrive, the ocean...is drained to build a town (9). They devolve the ocean into neat and static squares (12). Again, the lines parallel the plants, transitioning from undulating lengths to boxy, straight cut lines similar to the rows and columns straight of the plots (14). The structure created classes, giving greater opportunities to those they deemed important and worthy, while the unwanted were relegated to bad plots: Fruitful nearest the cottage while Shrubs to the darkest plot (18, 19). Government and this perpetual culture have divided America into groups based on type, not fluid, not interacting, only giving different levels of worth depending on what they find most helpful. Once a land of fluidity, symbiotic relationship, everyone worked together, on an equal footing. The use of repetition depicts the re emergence of America s diversity. Alliteration coincides with the emergence of unique flowers. From the native grasses, a sole scarlet speck grew (4). The single sapphire snapdragon at the end emerges from the shrubs (21). These s alliterations highlight the importance of the moment and shows the isolation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Information And Database Management Systems Week 1: Overview of Information and Database Management Systems 6411 2 Main Post The Database Management System of a healthcare organization is an application to perform administrative tasks on a database and interacts with the data stored in the databases. Years ago information was managed by a hands on method such as files in the file cabinet. Now, databases are utilized by technology to drive and manage information. These databases are an organized collection of data typically stored in an electronic format. Databases allow input, manage, organize, and retrieve data quickly (Cornell, and Morris, 2015). Then Technology takes the data collected and transforms it into information which becomes knowledge to the users. The purpose of the study is to examine the use of the database system in nursing and to determine the benefits and challenges of the healthcare organization to use database systems and data. Analyze the use of database systems and data in nursing practice Select a database system that you encounter at work or with which you are familiar. As the introduction of the study states, many healthcare organizations are exploring new ways to use this data to improve health outcomes and the quality of patient care (Laureate edu, 2015). For instance, Methodist Hospital of Houston Texas embraces the use of database system in their laboratory which is just one example of technology. What s helpful about using the database systems? For example, the database ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
