Purchase Decision Essay
The purchase situation I will be discussing is related to the most important meal of the day: breakfast.
To be more specific, I will be discussing the various factors that led me to purchase an Egg McMuffin
meal for breakfast before a busy Saturday. Ever since I was a young boy, I had always been
encouraged to start my day off the right way with a healthy breakfast. This mainly consisted of my
father preparing me a bowl of delicious fresh fruit in addition to cereal and milk. Other days I would
enjoy a more classic breakfast, including eggs, bacon and toast. In addition, there were mornings
where I would crave a sweet breakfast, to which I would then eat waffles, or pancakes with syrup. The
bevy of food choices and the variety of options ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This also relates to my emotions and needs, as an individual that I need to fulfill to not only be
healthy, but also to satisfy my personal goal of having a good meal to start the day. Through
experiencing my emotions in my actual state, as well as having motives in place in the desired state, I
m able to identify a problem at hand and begin to take action to solve the problem.
The next stage in the purchase decision process is the information search process. This stage consists
of a pre purchase search, while leveraging internal and external information to narrow down a choice.
Internally I was able to remind myself of memories and past experiences I ve had with breakfast
meals. Primarily I focus on the past few meals I ve had, and what I ve liked about those meals.
Additionally I reference my associative nodes which created a few quick alternatives for breakfast:
make it at home, McDonalds, Byte 75, Tim Hortons, Starbucks, Cora s, or even Angie s. Since it was a
Saturday in which there are no classes, I was able to include a broader depth of options that could
require more travel time. This internal information helps me narrow down alternatives for the next
stage. In relation to external information, I tried to gather as much feedback to understand what the
best purchase decision would be for me at that given time. I begin

Communication in Organisation
COMMUNICATION IN AN ORGANIZATION
INTRODUCTION
Humans communicate all the time, and most of the time we do it as a matter of course, without
thinking about it. We can define it in the following way:
 Communication is one of the basic functions of management in any organization and its importance
can hardly be overemphasized. It is a process of transmitting information, ideas, thoughts, opinions
and plans between various parts of an organization.
 Communication is the process of conveying information from a sender to a receiver with the use of
a medium in which the communicated information is understood the same way by both sender and
receiver. Communication is important in an organization because it creates mutual understanding ...

The US Trial System Essay
When one thinks of trials a lot of questions come to mind. What is a trial? What is involved in a trial?
Who are the participants in a trial? Of all the participants how do they all contribute to the trial, what
are their duties? What are the aspects of a trial and how do the aspects affect the fairness of the trial.
How does our constitution contribute to a trial and how does it create fairness to the system? Within
the body of this paper I will educate the reader on the trial system and answer any questions a person
may have on the subject. I will use the research I have done to educate the reader on trials, the fairness
of trials, and how I feel that trials can be made fairer. There are several types of trials in our ... Show

Kuklin) Among all the duties of the judge he is there to act as a referee. He keeps everyone in the
courtroom in order. He explains to the jury the laws. After he hears the witnesses and all the other
evidence, he will take in considerations all the facts and make a decision based on his own personal
interpretations of the law. His powers will be shared with the jury. The jury or jurors are randomly
drawn from the court s geographical area typically from voter and motor vehicle registration lists to
evaluate evidence during trials and render verdicts. Jurors decide, according to the evidence, whether
the defendant is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of the charged crime. Jurors are not supposed to
decide legal questions, such as what evidence is admissible. And jurors usually do not decide what
sentence the defendant should receive in case of a conviction, except in capital punishment cases. It is
increasingly common for judges to involve jurors in the questioning of witnesses. Before excusing
witnesses, many judges invite jurors to submit written questions. After reviewing the jurors proposed
questions with attorneys from both sides, the judge decides which questions (if any) to ask. Most cases
don t involve juries. Juries are not formed unless and until a case goes to trial. Since at least 90% of
criminal cases end in plea bargains (never getting to trial), and many trials are handled by judges
alone, most criminal cases go

Theme Of Loss In Birdsong
The theme of loss is also shown through all three writers work, demonstrated through the destruction
and brutality of the war. In Birdsong Stephen appears a strange and isolated figure at the beginning of
the novel who brings with him concepts of unrest, as he possesses a knife with a singular scrupulously
sharpened blade which suggests the idea of conflict. As well as losing Isabelle in a romantic sense, he
experiences extreme loss and privation throughout his time in the war, particularly the loss of Weir
and Jack Firebrace that are dealt with in graphic but simplistic language. Weir s death occurs suddenly
and within one paragraph his face is said to be smashing unprotected into mud . Stephen is pained by
his death and even feels he had loved him and he had made the ... Show more content on

When he dies, Stephen is left alone in the tunnel feeling bitterly alone , which demonstrates the need
for companionship to survive. The idea of loss is also shown when Elizabeth visits the memorial and
notices the columns teeming with names of unfound soldiers. Her response to this is one of shock as
she appeared unaware of the multitude of deaths and collapses saying My God, nobody told me . This
emphasises the extent of loss from a postwar perspective, which makes it appear even more tragic. As
Birdsong was written after the war, its purpose was to commemorate the losses and honour the dead,
as well as educate and promote remembrance. Loss features just as graphically in Dulce et Decorum
Est written by Owen during his time in Craiglockheart hospital, as it is a poem that uses Latin to mock
the glory of war and demonstrate the pain and death it can cause. The poem describes a true account of
a soldier being unable to protect himself quickly enough during a gas attack and the haunting effect of

Chemical Digestion Research Paper
The mouth does both mechanical digestion and chemical digestion. Mechanically, your incisors cut
food into small pieces, next your canines make the food pieces even smaller, than premolars and
molars crush and grind the food, finally saliva moistens the food to a slippery mass. Saliva contains
enzymes which speed the chemical reaction in the body, this part is the chemical digestion. Your
mouth is the first in your digestive system.
Your esophagus connects your mouth to your stomach. It is made of smooth muscle that pushes your
food to the stomach and is lined with mucus that makes food be easier to swallow and move along.
Food stays in your esophagus for about 10 seconds and is located in your throat.
The stomach is located in the abdomen and mechanically and chemically break down food.
Mechanically, three strong layers of muscles contract and turn your food. Chemically, the lining in the
stomach produces digestive juice that digests proteins with an enzyme called pepsin. It also produces
hydrochloric acid that pepsin works best in and it kills bacteria in your food. Your stomach produces
mucus that protects the stomach lining from the acid. Damaged or worn out cells are quickly replaced.

Your small intestine is six meters long but only two three centimeters wide. When liquid enters the
intestine, it mixes with enzymes and secretions, which are produced by the small intestine, and
absorbs nutrient molecules.
The liver is located in the upper right portion of the abdomen and is the largest organ. Its job in the
digestive system is to produce bile, a substance that breaks up fat particles. It flows from the liver, to
the gallbladder, then into the small intestine. It physically breaks up the fat particles.
Your pancreas lies between the stomach and the small intestine. It produces enzymes that flow into the
small intestine to help break down starches, proteins and

Essay On Trump Move To End Daca And Calls On Congress To Act
Trump Moves to End DACA and Calls on Congress to Act
On September 5, 2017, Michael D. Shear and Julie Hirschfeld Davis wrote the article, Trump Moves
to End DACA and Calls on Congress to Act. On this day, President Donald Trump said that he would
be putting an end to the DACA Program that was created during Barack Obama s Presidency.
President Trump is now discussing the issue of revoking DACA due to his early comments in the
election about immigration laws, The announcement was an effort by Mr. Trump to honor the law and
order message of his campaign, which included a repeated pledge to end Mr. Obama s immigration
policy, while seeking to avoid the emotionally charged and politically perilous consequences of
targeting a sympathetic group ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The authors are able to avoid logical fallacies by only giving out the needed information and quoting
necessary people. Overall, the article gives accurate information that readers will find necessary about
what President Trump wants to do with the DACA program.
The authors are able to incorporate both stances on the DACA issue, by doing this, they are able to
prevent strong or discernible biases of the topic. Shear and Davis included both stances by quoting
opposing people s opinions. For example, they quoted President Donald Trump, who intends to revoke
DACA, he says that the reason for his concern about DACA is, the millions of Americans victimized
by this unfair job system. But the authors also quote former President Barack Obama, who helped
create the DACA program, when he heard of Trump s plan he stated, Whatever concerns or complaints
Americans may have about immigration in general, we shouldn t threaten the future of this group of
young people who are here through no fault of their own, who pose no threat, who are not taking away
anything from the rest of us. The quotes are able to give the reader an unbiased perspective of the
topic. Criticism is only shown in the article when the authors quote other people, either criticizing
DACA or criticizing the people trying to revoke it. Donald Trump and Jeff Sessions criticize DACA,
but Mark Zuckerberg, Marielena Hincapie, and

How Gender Role Impacts on Identity Essay
When contemplating the topic of gender role and its impact on identity one cannot help but realise that
these gender roles have a huge part to play on a person s identity. As gender is a combination of male
and female it gives way for a number of characteristics to accompany each sex making them different
from each other. This has an important position to play on identity which Kath Woodward stated in her
book Questioning Identity: Gender, Class, Nation where she said Without difference there would not
be such thing as identity . (Woodward, 2000, pp.51) Unfortunately, however, with these differences
there are inequalities. In this essay I would like to elaborate on this further by looking at the meaning
of gender and how it impacts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gender can be described as the social attributes associated with being a woman or a man in a
particular society (Woodward, 2000, pp.47) A person s gender is then determined by their sex which is
a biological classification . (Woodward, 2000, pp.47) As gender is a social attribute the identities of
people of different genders vary from society to society. For example, in many religions, women do
not have place in the rituals of the religion as it is simply only for men to do. (Chryssides and Geaves,
2013, pp.331) As religions were formed in certain cultures this shows a clear divide caused by gender
roles based on the cultural origin of the religion but also shows that this has an impact on the identities
of the male and female members of the religion. This being that the males feel they have more
authority over the females of the religion. A lot of inequality among the sexes is simply based on
stereotypes. Stereotypes can be explained as one sided and exaggerated images of men and women
which are deployed repeatedly in everyday life . (Scott and Marshal, 2009, pp. 279) A great example
of stereotypical sexist views is portrayed in the humours video of the character Ali G who interviewed
a lady about her views on feminism. In this video he seems to be making fun of some sexist notions
such as the idea of people being uncomfortable about flying in a plane piloted by a female

Vietnam Dbq
Should we abandon our country? The Vietnam war was the war between South Vietnam and North
Vietnam. Northern Vietnam wanted to spread communism to the Southern part of Vietnam while the
Southern part wanted democracy. Many people opposed the war because it was a foreign war and the
U.S had no business digging its nose into it. Others claimed that it was intervening with Vietnam s
own independence. During the war the U.S had drafted many poor american citizens to fight in the
war. Being drafted meant that you were being conscripted into the war because you meet the physical
and mental standards to fight in the war. Some people didn t think that it was fair and fled the country
or lied to the federal government. Those people were called draft dodgers ( people who got out of the

He says For every means we have to escalate the enemy can match us...To say that we are mired in
stalemate seems the only realistic; yet unsatisfactory conclusion. (Walter Cronkite, Document B pg.1).
The reasoning behind this is many Americans thought that the U.S was all powerful and by them
joining the war South Vietnam would have a greater chance to win. What many Americans didn t
know was at the time the only action where no unnecessary americans were killed was choosing not to
further entregue the the Vietnam forces. If we were to carelessly decided to drop an atomic bomb
Vietnam had the power to do the same. To draft dodgers this meant that they would have joined a war
that would only end (at the time all things pointed to it) in a cosmic disaster. This release from
Cronkite, who at the time was a very well trusted journalist, influenced people to have the same
decision, that joining the war would either end in a nuclear war between both nations, the death of
hundreds of thousands of more soldiers, or the invasion of the North which would escalate to more

The Causes Of Air Pollution In Beijing, China
Beijing, China has a coal mining history of nearly 800 and some odd years. This has been a major air
pollutant and the main reason for it is because its economy has grown substantially in the last 30
years. Worldwide, there are twenty cities with the highest, worst air pollution, sixteen of those cities
are within China alone. The main causes of Beijing s air pollution can be pointed to several factors.
Large economical growth, an increase in vehicles on the roads, growth in population, and
manufacturing. China has also experienced major economic growth with a large rise in Gross
Domestic Product. This increase can be connected with pollution. Vehicles are just one contributor to
pollution which we will discuss later in this paper. The population growth in Beijing contributes to a
big portion of its pollution. The population has risen from 11 million to 16 million in just 7 years, and
has nearly doubled over the past century. Factories that utilize coal burning contribute to the smog
currently present in Beijing. Many of these factories depend on outdated and inefficient technology
which emits air pollutants. Beijing is a victim of its own topography since it s surrounded by
mountains which traps pollution within the city. Air quality worsens in the spring and summer seasons
when the humidity and temperature levels increase. Air pollution has been so drastic to the point that
the city often engulfs in smog making it near zero visibility which in turn causing road

Taking A Stand In National History
This year the National History Day topic theme is Taking a Stand . When I think about a significant
time in history where people made a stand for a cause against seemingly insurmountable odds, I think
of the Battle of Lexington and Concord. American colonists, often known as the Patriots, stood up
against British troops, preventing them from seizing their weapons and ammunition and capturing the
leaders of the rebellion. It was this stand that began the American Revolution. The Patriot s stand
against the British ultimately lead to the creation of the United States of America and massively
shaped modern history. But what if the colonists never took a stand? What would have happened and
how would modern history look today? If the Patriots never made their stand, the American
Revolution may not have happened. What is now the United States of America would have likely
remained British, which would have created very different modern history.
In 1775 there was much friction between the American colonist and the British Crown. Britain was
becoming increasingly jealous of the American prosperity and feared the growth of the colonies.
Britain began to increase taxes and regulations on the colonists, which they resented. This lead to
several confrontations including the Boston Massacre and the Tea Party. The British believed that they
needed to take decisive action to put a stop to these confrontations and assert the Crown s authority.
One line of thought was to remove the

Dogs in entertainment are highly trained performers who are eager to please. Canines currently

year. Of course, it takes a highly motivated owner to launch and manage a successful canine career in

Analysis Of The Danger Of A Single Story
Coming from a conventional, middle class Nigerian family, where her father was a professor and her
mother was an administrator, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie lived a normal life exposed to the typical
books of white, blue eyed characters playing with snow, eating apples, and drinking ginger beer.
However, she realizes that literature didn t always contain the same characteristics as the books she
had read growing up and that people like her, girls with the skin color of chocolate, whose kinky hair
could not form ponytails can exist in literature (2:15). Through this experience, it saved her from
having a single story of what books are (2:36). Her TED talk, The Danger of a Single Story , filmed
on July of 2009, with over 13 million views, is a reflective speech that allows the audience to deeply
consider how they judge people, places, and/or cultures. She explains how narrow mindedness,
stereotypes, and conflicts could be established through the exposure of one single story as it prevents
us from seeing things in any other light. Her audience is generally towards older Americans, starting
from teens and beyond, because she discusses her speech in the perspective of a woman who lives in
the United States. Although she discusses her opinions and thoughts as an American, her TED talk is
for the general public, as we all have made false judgements of people, places, and/or cultures based
on a single story. I agree with Adichie s thesis that the dangers of a single story can

My Life After A Volunteer At The Emergency Department
I was never fully able to wrap my mind around how one discovers their vocation in life. It was not
until last summer that I was able to uncover my passion. My novel discovery would take place during,
one of the most scorching months of August I ever recall experiencing. It would be during this
amplifying heat that I would conclude to go to Mercy Hospital and become a volunteer at the
Emergency Department. This day would not only come to symbolize an inflection point in my life due
to the fact that I had recently emigrated from Spain, but a realization of my calling in life.
As if it was yesterday, I remember I had to wake up punctually that day. My father, a draconian man in
his fifties, would have to drop off my mother first at her office, and afterward, come back home to
pick me up. Weak sunbeams shone through the blinds of my dusty window, taking with them a
sweltering tangibility that would congest my silent room. I suddenly got up, breathing heavy as if the
flaming spears of the sun had pierced my lungs.
Soon after I dashed to take an encouraging shower. Promptly, I put on a red polished polo with
hospital miniature logo. I added blue cargo pants, which I thought would fit better for the unknown
tasks waiting for me at the hospital. Since the first moment I exited the bed, my mind had generated
persistent feelings of inquietude. With the smell of brand new clothes still hovering in the air, I
believed myself to possess a health professional when my juvenile figure

Diabetes Mellitus ( Dm ) Comprises A Group Of Metabolic...
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) comprises a group of metabolic disorders that share the common phenotype
of hyperglycemia. Diabetes is a very debilitating disease, affecting approximately 8.3% of the adult
population or 382 million across the world. The area most afflicted by diabetes is the Western Pacific,
which includes China affecting about 138 million. In the United States it is approximated that 29.1
million (9.3% of the population) have diabetes. If the trend continues to rise as it does, it is estimated
that 592 million people worldwide will have diabetes by 2035.
Not only does diabetes wreak havoc on a person s state of health, it also has serious impacts on our
economy, especially in developing countries. It is estimated that the costs to treat and prevent diabetes
were about $548 billion in 2011. In the USA, $245 billion was spent towards diabetes in 2012 and
with the consistent rise in diagnosis, that number may be $500 billion by 2025. Diabetes can be
categorized into a few categories, the well known sectors being type 1 and type 2. Type 1 DM is
characterized by complete insulin deficiency as opposed to type 2 DM (90% 95% of new cases of
diabetes) which is characterized by variable degrees of insulin resistance, impaired insulin secretion,
and excessive hepatic glucose production. There also exist other, more rare classifications of DM,
which include: DM caused by genetic defects (ie. maturity onset diabetes of the young (MODY)),
diseases of the pancreas (chronic

Shakespeare Uses Manipulation, Lies, And Deceit
Shakespeare Uses Manipulation, Lies, and Deceit Many people believe lying is just a bad habit, but
that is not true. Lying is a part of human nature, no matter if it is a big or small lie, everyone has lied
before ( Lying: Bad Habit Or Human Nature? ). Everyone has different reasons for deceiving others,
but that does not change the fact that everyone has lied at some point. Human nature keeps the world
from achieving complete perfection, and Shakespeare allows this idea to be the foundation that his
plays build off of. The human nature of deception is found as a common theme in Shakespeare s
Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing. Shakespeare uses these plays to communicate to his audiences
that sometimes in order to find the truth you have to use trickery and manipulation; thus creating the
idea that deception can be evil or harmless depending on the circumstances and the intentions of those
who are trying to decieve. Hamlet elucidates the dangers that deception can provoke in relationships
and shows the consequences of lying. Shakespeare shows his tangled opinions about deception
throughout Much Ado About Nothing by using manipulation to help benefit others and destroy
relationships; this allows Shakespeare to further show his idea that deception can be used for good and
evil. One of Shakespeare s main themes that is seen throughout many of his plays is deception; this
brings more dramatic components to the audience. Hamlet is a play that is solely created around a

The Movie Moonlight
In the film Moonlight, Mahershala Ali plays a drug dealer who acts as a fatherly figure to a
homosexual, African American boy. Ali is not an A list actor, but his talent as an actor is widely
recognized and acknowledged. Although he cannot be considered a star, he can be classified as an
actor because he is professionally trained and has undisputable talent. He is known to play very tough
and intimidating characters who are not to be trifled with. Ali s acting style can be classified as
representational because his gestures and expressions come so naturally, as if he could really relate to
the characters that he plays. In some of his past roles, Ali has played the parts of a soldier and a crime
lord, which shows how he usually plays gritty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Up to this point in the film, Juan has remained cool and collected under many different
circumstances.; However, when Juan catches Chiron s mother doing drugs, he loses his temper for the
first time, showing how much he cares for Chiron. When Juan witnesses this, he becomes infuriated,
roughly pulling Chiron s mother out of the car. Then, out of frustration, Juan pushes her around when
she tries to defend her actions. Throughout the movie, Juan was composed and would never resort to
physical confrontation unless absolutely necessary. In this scene, however, Juan s emotions finally get
the better of him, as he raises his voice for the first time in the whole movie when he shouts at Chiron
s mother. Although Juan did not actually hurt her physically, he displayed a new aggressive
disposition. Ali s performance in this scene is passionate and really conveyed to the audience just how
much Juan cared about Chiron. The emotional explosion was very realistic and captivating. Chiron s
mother then accuses Juan of selling her the drugs in the first place. This is followed by a moment of
silence. This is when the audience gets a deeper glimpse into Juan s true character. It is obvious that
Juan feels guilty and does not know how to respond. Then Chiron s mother hurts Juan even more by
smoking the crack right in front of him. A look of chagrin crawls over Juan s face as he is completely
speechless. At

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Travel
Viva Las Vegas! If it has been a while since your last couple s getaway, maybe now is the time to start
thinking about taking a trip together. After all, a little vacation time can do wonders for a relationship.
According to a survey conducted by the U.S. Travel Association, 63 percent of the couples who were
polled believe that travel helps couples stay together longer. If travel is not in your budget, do not let
that keep you from hitting the slots. Instead, enjoy a date night in Las Vegas without leaving your
couch by ordering a datelivery box for your next staycation. Not every couple can afford regular
getaways, and for them we suggest a staycation from the comfort of your home or a local hotel. That
way you can still take in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If anything, it can detract from your time together. Whether you are on a vacation or enjoying a date
night box at home, you can unplug from the rest of the world without feeling guilt or anxiety over
your messages that are piling up. Your team can take care of while you are gone. Take the opportunity
to unplug from the rest of the world and focus on each other without any distractions. 4. Rekindle
Your Romance A couple s getaway, whether out of town or at home, often allows you and your partner
to reach a level of physical intimacy that can easily fall by the wayside when work and other
responsbilities get in the way. In fact, regular touching starts to ramp up when you are away on
vacation. Whether you are cuddling in bed or holding hands on the beach, increasing your intimacy
levels helps to rekindle that spark both of you had at the beginning of your relationship. 5. Try New
Things The secret ingredient for successful relationships is having fun together, which often can be
brought about by trying new things. For example, a date night in Las Vegas, whether it is in your
living room with a Datelivery box or in Sin City itself, will give you plenty of opportunities to share a
new experience together. If you have never before been to Vegas, try your hand at gambling or take in
a show or eat at a different restaurant. If you are having a

Who Is Responsible For Othello s Downfall
When one watches a play, they are catching a glimpse into the characters lives. They are catching a
narrow window of their existence. They do not know where they came from, what kind of experiences
they have had, or what may have influenced them over the course of their lives. The central
protagonist of Othello is none other than Othello himself, a man whose background ultimately shape
and dictate his life during the play. Shakespeare creates Othello s main objective to stay true to who he
is; a person that we are meant to infer is filled with duty, honor, trust, respect, nobility, and the desire
to do the right thing. If any of these listed attributes are awry in his life, or at fault among the people
he associates with, he is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keep up your bright swords, for the dew will rust them./ Good signor, you shall more command with
years/ Than with your weapons. (I.ii.59 61). Othello makes the decision not to fight outright by
observing what is going on around him. First, the hour of this action is late at night, so chances are
something is amiss. Secondly, he recognizes these men as good people, what quarrel does he posses
with them? His ability to formulate this quick decision and take is a perfect example of the kind of
person Othello is. It unfortunately will contribute to his downfall in the end of the tragedy.
Othello s first completed objective prior to the start of the play is selecting a new lieutenant. In the
military, a lieutenant can better be known as the second in command of a general (roughly). Othello,
being the general, selects Cassio as his lieutenant. At this point, Iago discloses valuable characteristics
of Cassio, One Michael Cassio, A Florentine /.../That never set a squadron in the field,/ Nor the
division of battle knows/More than a spinster... (I.i.20 4). Iago clearly indicates that his own résumé is
far more fitting to that of a battlefield lieutenant, stating, And I, of whom his eyes had seen the
proof/At Rhodes, At Cyprus, and on other grounds/ He in good time must his Lieutenant be,/ And I
god bless the mark! his Moorship s Ancient. (I.i.28 34). For the readers and spectators of Othello, the

Summary Of Journal Of Ponce De Leon
Journal of Ponce De Leon Entry #1 September 24 The date is September 24,1493 we are about to set
off on a journey across the Atlantic Ocean. I had heard that the Taino Indians speak of a magic
fountain and a rejuvenating river somewhere to the north of Cuba. I know that If I can discover the
Fountain of Youth then I will go down in history as the world s greatest explorer. Journal of Ponce De
Leon Entry #2 April 8 After a long journey I have finally reached land which shall be named La
Florida. It s time to begin the search the Fountain of Youth awaits. We have had several clashes with
several indians but none as great as this one with the sound of musket fire and Indian war cries the
epic battle rages on. We are outnumbered three to one, and it keeps getting worse. It seems as though
we are running out of ammo, but we keep strong; this is for conquest and discovery, but if anything
this resistance could mean we are getting close. Journal of Ponce De Leon Entry #3 April 15 We have
started to rely on our swords to conserve ammunition, but I don t know if we can hold out. We ve
managed to even the odds ever slightly, and it seems like now the odds are two to one, and they have
the advantage of numbers. We have several well trained men on our side, but it appears as if they were
trained as well except it seems my men are better trained. I ve noticed that It appears as though their
main objective is not to eliminate us, but it appears as if there guarding something and

Essay On Legacy Based Admissions
A large percentage of college bound students apply to colleges their parents or previous generations of
their family attended. Why? Applicants with a previous close family member who attended the school,
have a greater chance of being admitted. Legacy based admissions have allowed underqualified
students to attend colleges they normally wouldn t be accepted to. Colleges like Harvard, Yale, and
Stanford, all support legacy based admissions for one reason, money. The preferential treatment comes
from the belief that admitting legacies leads to a donation from the family later in life. For example,
Harvard s freshman class contains almost 30% of students, who come from families who have had
previous generations attend the school. Although legacy admissions help raise money for the college,
it limits the acceptance of students who deserve to attend due to their qualifications.
In our world today, many people go to college with a sole purpose in mind, to get an advanced degree,
which leads to a higher paying job. For years, money has impacted the way that we live our lives and
has become a key component of the college admissions process. Coming from a ... Show more content

This has led schools like MIT, Caltech, and UC Berkeley to abandon the legacy based admissions
process. MIT admissions counselor, Chris Peterson, says I personally would not work for a college
which had legacy admission because I am not interested in simply reproducing a multi generational
lineage of educated elite. And if anyone in our office ever advocated for a mediocre applicant on the
basis of their excellent pedigree they would be kicked out of the committee room. Once more colleges
follow the lead of schools like MIT, students will be able to attend schools that they are academically
fit for without other factors impacting their admissions

The Rope Course At The Ropes Course
When starting the ropes course I think we were all a little nervous, not just about heights or different
challenges, but figuring each other out. People walk around on nails for a while till they feel they
know someone good enough to open up, this activity sped that process up a quite a bit. Different
people take on different roles and I think this made some stand up to show their leadership and others
show how they follow. This is a good way to sum up how people will act in working groups as well
and gave us a further understanding of what we should expect from our teams. The ropes course was a
good exercise to have fun and open up to each other. I know that I am usually quiet at first but if I am
given a hands on activity I feel I can be more of myself and interact at a greater level. One of the first
concepts I wanted to talk about was how to communicate effectively at work . When reading this we
learned that you needed to get to the point and say your central idea, just get it out there and see what
people think, it may be good or bad but you won t know till you speak up. When working on the low
coarse tight wire we were able to finally group up and say what worked and what didn t. It was
difficult when you wanted to just try it on your own, but had the rule of three point contact. So instead
of trying to figure it out alone, we eventually decided to give everyone a voice and weigh our options
about what to do next. I think once we got everyone on the same page we were

Poverty Between Rich And Poor Countries
Countries of the world can clearly be divided into rich and poor. These rich and established countries
already having a developed education system, health care system, and strong central government
where as these poor and developing countries are struggling with all of the above. Poor countries also
suffering from terrible diseases, crime, and corruption on all fronts, including government; something
that these rich and powerful countries know not much about. However, when the question comes up,
Do these rich nations owe poor nations? The answer should and always be no. Rich countries are not
responsible for the huge amounts of debts that these developing countries are in, they are not
responsible for the misuse of grants and loans giving to these developing countries, and they are
certainly not responsible for all of the corruptions in government and commerce that take place in
most of these developing countries. With that being said, these rich countries do not owe these poor
developing countries anything, but should aid in their development. With the gap widening between
rich and poor nations, this cycle will continue until the gap is too wide to be fixed. These established
countries must take more responsibility into assisting these developing countries and bridging the gap
between rich and poor. Wealthy countries have an obligation to maintain and grow their own wealth in
order to keep a stable economy. The economic term pareto optimal is the idea that one cannot

  • 2. Purchase Decision Essay The purchase situation I will be discussing is related to the most important meal of the day: breakfast. To be more specific, I will be discussing the various factors that led me to purchase an Egg McMuffin meal for breakfast before a busy Saturday. Ever since I was a young boy, I had always been encouraged to start my day off the right way with a healthy breakfast. This mainly consisted of my father preparing me a bowl of delicious fresh fruit in addition to cereal and milk. Other days I would enjoy a more classic breakfast, including eggs, bacon and toast. In addition, there were mornings where I would crave a sweet breakfast, to which I would then eat waffles, or pancakes with syrup. The bevy of food choices and the variety of options ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This also relates to my emotions and needs, as an individual that I need to fulfill to not only be healthy, but also to satisfy my personal goal of having a good meal to start the day. Through experiencing my emotions in my actual state, as well as having motives in place in the desired state, I m able to identify a problem at hand and begin to take action to solve the problem. The next stage in the purchase decision process is the information search process. This stage consists of a pre purchase search, while leveraging internal and external information to narrow down a choice. Internally I was able to remind myself of memories and past experiences I ve had with breakfast meals. Primarily I focus on the past few meals I ve had, and what I ve liked about those meals. Additionally I reference my associative nodes which created a few quick alternatives for breakfast: make it at home, McDonalds, Byte 75, Tim Hortons, Starbucks, Cora s, or even Angie s. Since it was a Saturday in which there are no classes, I was able to include a broader depth of options that could require more travel time. This internal information helps me narrow down alternatives for the next stage. In relation to external information, I tried to gather as much feedback to understand what the best purchase decision would be for me at that given time. I begin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Of all the participants how do they all contribute to the trial, what are their duties? What are the aspects of a trial and how do the aspects affect the fairness of the trial. Within the body of this paper I will educate the reader on the trial system and answer any questions a person may have on the subject. After he hears the witnesses and all the other evidence, he will take in considerations all the facts and make a decision based on his own personal interpretations of the law. His powers will be shared with the jury. The jury or jurors are randomly drawn from the court s geographical area typically from voter and motor vehicle registration lists to evaluate evidence during trials and render verdicts. Jurors decide, according to the evidence, whether the defendant is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of the charged crime. Jurors are not supposed to decide legal questions, such as what evidence is admissible. And jurors usually do not decide what sentence the defendant should receive in case of a conviction, except in capital punishment cases. It is increasingly common for judges to involve jurors in the questioning of witnesses. Before excusing witnesses, many judges invite jurors to submit written questions. After reviewing the jurors proposed questions with attorneys from both sides, the judge decides which questions (if any) to ask. Most cases don t involve juries. Juries are not formed unless and until a case goes to trial. Since at least 90% of criminal cases end in plea bargains (never getting to trial), and many trials are handled by judges alone, most criminal cases go ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Theme Of Loss In Birdsong The theme of loss is also shown through all three writers work, demonstrated through the destruction and brutality of the war. In Birdsong Stephen appears a strange and isolated figure at the beginning of the novel who brings with him concepts of unrest, as he possesses a knife with a singular scrupulously sharpened blade which suggests the idea of conflict. As well as losing Isabelle in a romantic sense, he experiences extreme loss and privation throughout his time in the war, particularly the loss of Weir and Jack Firebrace that are dealt with in graphic but simplistic language. Weir s death occurs suddenly and within one paragraph his face is said to be smashing unprotected into mud . Stephen is pained by his death and even feels he had loved him and he had made the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When he dies, Stephen is left alone in the tunnel feeling bitterly alone , which demonstrates the need for companionship to survive. The idea of loss is also shown when Elizabeth visits the memorial and notices the columns teeming with names of unfound soldiers. Her response to this is one of shock as she appeared unaware of the multitude of deaths and collapses saying My God, nobody told me . This emphasises the extent of loss from a postwar perspective, which makes it appear even more tragic. As Birdsong was written after the war, its purpose was to commemorate the losses and honour the dead, as well as educate and promote remembrance. Loss features just as graphically in Dulce et Decorum Est written by Owen during his time in Craiglockheart hospital, as it is a poem that uses Latin to mock the glory of war and demonstrate the pain and death it can cause. The poem describes a true account of a soldier being unable to protect himself quickly enough during a gas attack and the haunting effect of this helpless ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mechanically, your incisors cut food into small pieces, next your canines make the food pieces even smaller, than premolars and molars crush and grind the food, finally saliva moistens the food to a slippery mass. Saliva contains enzymes which speed the chemical reaction in the body, this part is the chemical digestion. Your mouth is the first in your digestive system. Your esophagus connects your mouth to your stomach. It is made of smooth muscle that pushes your food to the stomach and is lined with mucus that makes food be easier to swallow and move along. Food stays in your esophagus for about 10 seconds and is located in your throat. The stomach is located in the abdomen and mechanically and chemically break down food. Mechanically, three strong layers of muscles contract and turn your food. Chemically, the lining in the stomach produces digestive juice that digests proteins with an enzyme called pepsin. It also produces hydrochloric acid that pepsin works best in and it kills bacteria in your food. Your stomach produces mucus that protects the stomach lining from the acid. • 7. Essay On Trump Move To End Daca And Calls On Congress To Act Trump Moves to End DACA and Calls on Congress to Act On September 5, 2017, Michael D. Shear and Julie Hirschfeld Davis wrote the article, Trump Moves to End DACA and Calls on Congress to Act. On this day, President Donald Trump said that he would be putting an end to the DACA Program that was created during Barack Obama s Presidency. President Trump is now discussing the issue of revoking DACA due to his early comments in the election about immigration laws, The announcement was an effort by Mr. Trump to honor the law and order message of his campaign, which included a repeated pledge to end Mr. Obama s immigration policy, while seeking to avoid the emotionally charged and politically perilous consequences of targeting a sympathetic group ... Overall, the article gives accurate information that readers will find necessary about what President Trump wants to do with the DACA program. The authors are able to incorporate both stances on the DACA issue, by doing this, they are able to prevent strong or discernible biases of the topic. Shear and Davis included both stances by quoting opposing people s opinions. For example, they quoted President Donald Trump, who intends to revoke DACA, he says that the reason for his concern about DACA is, the millions of Americans victimized by this unfair job system. But the authors also quote former President Barack Obama, who helped create the DACA program, when he heard of Trump s plan he stated, Whatever concerns or complaints Americans may have about immigration in general, we shouldn t threaten the future of this group of young people who are here through no fault of their own, who pose no threat, who are not taking away anything from the rest of us. The quotes are able to give the reader an unbiased perspective of the topic. Criticism is only shown in the article when the authors quote other people, either criticizing DACA or criticizing the people trying to revoke it. • 9. How Gender Role Impacts on Identity Essay When contemplating the topic of gender role and its impact on identity one cannot help but realise that these gender roles have a huge part to play on a person s identity. As gender is a combination of male and female it gives way for a number of characteristics to accompany each sex making them different from each other. This has an important position to play on identity which Kath Woodward stated in her book Questioning Identity: Gender, Class, Nation where she said Without difference there would not be such thing as identity . (Woodward, 2000, pp.51) Unfortunately, however, with these differences there are inequalities. In this essay I would like to elaborate on this further by looking at the meaning of gender and how it impacts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gender can be described as the social attributes associated with being a woman or a man in a particular society (Woodward, 2000, pp.47) A person s gender is then determined by their sex which is a biological classification . (Woodward, 2000, pp.47) As gender is a social attribute the identities of people of different genders vary from society to society. For example, in many religions, women do not have place in the rituals of the religion as it is simply only for men to do. (Chryssides and Geaves, 2013, pp.331) As religions were formed in certain cultures this shows a clear divide caused by gender roles based on the cultural origin of the religion but also shows that this has an impact on the identities of the male and female members of the religion. This being that the males feel they have more authority over the females of the religion. A lot of inequality among the sexes is simply based on stereotypes. Stereotypes can be explained as one sided and exaggerated images of men and women which are deployed repeatedly in everyday life . (Scott and Marshal, 2009, pp. 279) A great example of stereotypical sexist views is portrayed in the humours video of the character Ali G who interviewed a lady about her views on feminism. In this video he seems to be making fun of some sexist notions such as the idea of people being uncomfortable about flying in a plane piloted by a female ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Vietnam Dbq Should we abandon our country? The Vietnam war was the war between South Vietnam and North Vietnam. Northern Vietnam wanted to spread communism to the Southern part of Vietnam while the Southern part wanted democracy. Many people opposed the war because it was a foreign war and the U.S had no business digging its nose into it. Others claimed that it was intervening with Vietnam s own independence. During the war the U.S had drafted many poor american citizens to fight in the war. Being drafted meant that you were being conscripted into the war because you meet the physical and mental standards to fight in the war. Some people didn t think that it was fair and fled the country or lied to the federal government. Those people were called draft dodgers ( people who got out of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He says For every means we have to escalate the enemy can match us...To say that we are mired in stalemate seems the only realistic; yet unsatisfactory conclusion. (Walter Cronkite, Document B pg.1). The reasoning behind this is many Americans thought that the U.S was all powerful and by them joining the war South Vietnam would have a greater chance to win. What many Americans didn t know was at the time the only action where no unnecessary americans were killed was choosing not to further entregue the the Vietnam forces. If we were to carelessly decided to drop an atomic bomb Vietnam had the power to do the same. To draft dodgers this meant that they would have joined a war that would only end (at the time all things pointed to it) in a cosmic disaster. This release from Cronkite, who at the time was a very well trusted journalist, influenced people to have the same decision, that joining the war would either end in a nuclear war between both nations, the death of hundreds of thousands of more soldiers, or the invasion of the North which would escalate to more ... • 11. The Causes Of Air Pollution In Beijing, China Beijing, China has a coal mining history of nearly 800 and some odd years. This has been a major air pollutant and the main reason for it is because its economy has grown substantially in the last 30 years. Worldwide, there are twenty cities with the highest, worst air pollution, sixteen of those cities are within China alone. The main causes of Beijing s air pollution can be pointed to several factors. Large economical growth, an increase in vehicles on the roads, growth in population, and manufacturing. China has also experienced major economic growth with a large rise in Gross Domestic Product. This increase can be connected with pollution. Vehicles are just one contributor to pollution which we will discuss later in this paper. The population growth in Beijing contributes to a big portion of its pollution. The population has risen from 11 million to 16 million in just 7 years, and has nearly doubled over the past century. Factories that utilize coal burning contribute to the smog currently present in Beijing. Many of these factories depend on outdated and inefficient technology which emits air pollutants. Beijing is a victim of its own topography since it s surrounded by mountains which traps pollution within the city. Air quality worsens in the spring and summer seasons when the humidity and temperature levels increase. Air pollution has been so drastic to the point that the city often engulfs in smog making it near zero visibility which in turn causing road ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Taking A Stand In National History This year the National History Day topic theme is Taking a Stand . When I think about a significant time in history where people made a stand for a cause against seemingly insurmountable odds, I think of the Battle of Lexington and Concord. American colonists, often known as the Patriots, stood up against British troops, preventing them from seizing their weapons and ammunition and capturing the leaders of the rebellion. It was this stand that began the American Revolution. The Patriot s stand against the British ultimately lead to the creation of the United States of America and massively shaped modern history. But what if the colonists never took a stand? What would have happened and how would modern history look today? If the Patriots never made their stand, the American Revolution may not have happened. What is now the United States of America would have likely remained British, which would have created very different modern history. In 1775 there was much friction between the American colonist and the British Crown. Britain was becoming increasingly jealous of the American prosperity and feared the growth of the colonies. Britain began to increase taxes and regulations on the colonists, which they resented. This lead to several confrontations including the Boston Massacre and the Tea Party. The British believed that they needed to take decisive action to put a stop to these confrontations and assert the Crown s authority. One line of thought was to remove the ... However, she realizes that literature didn t always contain the same characteristics as the books she had read growing up and that people like her, girls with the skin color of chocolate, whose kinky hair could not form ponytails can exist in literature (2:15). Through this experience, it saved her from having a single story of what books are (2:36). Her TED talk, The Danger of a Single Story , filmed on July of 2009, with over 13 million views, is a reflective speech that allows the audience to deeply consider how they judge people, places, and/or cultures. She explains how narrow mindedness, stereotypes, and conflicts could be established through the exposure of one single story as it prevents us from seeing things in any other light. Her audience is generally towards older Americans, starting from teens and beyond, because she discusses her speech in the perspective of a woman who lives in the United States. It would be during this amplifying heat that I would conclude to go to Mercy Hospital and become a volunteer at the Emergency Department. This day would not only come to symbolize an inflection point in my life due to the fact that I had recently emigrated from Spain, but a realization of my calling in life. As if it was yesterday, I remember I had to wake up punctually that day. My father, a draconian man in his fifties, would have to drop off my mother first at her office, and afterward, come back home to pick me up. Weak sunbeams shone through the blinds of my dusty window, taking with them a sweltering tangibility that would congest my silent room. I suddenly got up, breathing heavy as if the flaming spears of the sun had pierced my lungs. Soon after I dashed to take an encouraging shower. • 25. Shakespeare Uses Manipulation, Lies, And Deceit Shakespeare Uses Manipulation, Lies, and Deceit Many people believe lying is just a bad habit, but that is not true. Lying is a part of human nature, no matter if it is a big or small lie, everyone has lied before ( Lying: Bad Habit Or Human Nature? ). Everyone has different reasons for deceiving others, but that does not change the fact that everyone has lied at some point. Human nature keeps the world from achieving complete perfection, and Shakespeare allows this idea to be the foundation that his plays build off of. The human nature of deception is found as a common theme in Shakespeare s Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing. Shakespeare uses these plays to communicate to his audiences that sometimes in order to find the truth you have to use trickery and manipulation; thus creating the idea that deception can be evil or harmless depending on the circumstances and the intentions of those who are trying to decieve. Hamlet elucidates the dangers that deception can provoke in relationships and shows the consequences of lying. Shakespeare shows his tangled opinions about deception throughout Much Ado About Nothing by using manipulation to help benefit others and destroy relationships; this allows Shakespeare to further show his idea that deception can be used for good and evil. One of Shakespeare s main themes that is seen throughout many of his plays is deception; this brings more dramatic components to the audience. • 30. Essay On Legacy Based Admissions A large percentage of college bound students apply to colleges their parents or previous generations of their family attended. Why? Applicants with a previous close family member who attended the school, have a greater chance of being admitted. Legacy based admissions have allowed underqualified students to attend colleges they normally wouldn t be accepted to. Colleges like Harvard, Yale, and Stanford, all support legacy based admissions for one reason, money. The preferential treatment comes from the belief that admitting legacies leads to a donation from the family later in life. For example, Harvard s freshman class contains almost 30% of students, who come from families who have had previous generations attend the school. Although legacy admissions help raise money for the college, it limits the acceptance of students who deserve to attend due to their qualifications.
