Task 2 Failures to Protect Individuals Essay
TASK 2
Identify two reports on serious failures to protect individuals (ADULTS) from abuse. Write an account
that describes the unsafe practices in the reviews. Look on Google under UK failures in adult care
Report 1.
In March 2002, a 30 year old woman with learning disabilities was admitted to Borders General
Hospital in Scotland with multiple injuries as a result of sustained physical and sexual assaults. The
abuse had been carried out at home and was perpetrated by three men, one of whom was her carer.
The case of the vulnerable adult is the term that the individual involved has asked to be used. Her
identity is protected under rules giving anonymity to victims of rape.
The woman had made allegations against one of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If all seemed well they could have arranged visits for support for the girl for example.
Knowing or finding out weather a person is able to fully understand when they have a disability is a
difficult thing to do. When the girl s mother passed away the perpetrator was allowed to become the
girls carer and the abuse continued. Before this man was allowed to become the girls carer
agencies/social services should have fully investigated the man s past, he should have gone through
interviews and the agencies could have observed/investigated the man s and girl s relation/friendship.
There would have been no harm for the agencies to go and check on the woman years later and keep
on top of visits because if they did this the signs of abuse would have been clear such as dehydration
and lack of food, poor clothing, torn genital area and marks on her face and body.
Report 2.
NHS staff persistently abused a blind and deaf man with a low IQ by tying him up for 16 hours a day,
government inspectors revealed today in a damning report on services for people with learning
disabilities.
Carers employed by the Cornwall Partnership NHS trust bound his arms together with cloth bandages
and fastened them to his bed or wheelchair, to stop him slapping himself in the face.
They found evidence in personnel files

Education at a Year-Round School Essay
Education at a Year Round School
Consider the following situation: A car is driving past the local elementary school on a hot and sunny
July afternoon. As the car approached the school the driver notices some unusual things. Students are
outside with the teachers for recess, and it looks as if school is in session. The school is on a year
round schedule. The driver is intrigued and decides to do some research. From the research, this
person found that students are achieving more academically and the teachers are well rested.
Year round schooling is beneficial to school systems because: it alleviates overcrowding, offers
remedial opportunities, decreases teacher burnout, increases retention rates, assists English as a

Each track of students is staggered throughout the year so that each group is attending the school at
different times. For example, a school that has 1000 students could rotate them into five groups of 200
students each. Using a multi track schedule also decreases the need for construction of new schools.
According to Rivera, of the Washington Post (2003): when employing a multi track schedule, 25
percent more students can attend year round schools, without added construction (para. 8).
(9)Additionally, Barber (1996) adds that The Soccoro Independent School District, in Texas, saved 30
million dollars of tax payer money by using a multi track schedule (para. 4). One result of
overcrowding is a lack of personal assistance.
Remediation
Students are struggling in school and need extra remediation. All too often in schools who run on a
traditional school calendar, students do not receive the help they need until summer school. By that
point it is too late and the student is failing academically. Robert Smotherman, superintendent of
Bardstown City School District in Kentucky (as quoted by Wildavsky (1999)) says, Instead of waiting
until summer school, you catch him [student] in October, and you ve got a shot at getting him back on
track (para. 8). Students who attend year round schools have the benefit of receiving remediation help

Friendship In On The Road
A Warped Representation of Friendship
In On the Road, Sal and Dean have developed a friendship that not only reflects themes in the classic
but, pop culture as well. Two men travel all over and share their experiences amongst each other. All
throughout the novel, we as readers, discover that their unique bond transcends the normal version of
friendship. Becoming brothers and ultimately comrades. A sense of madness develops in Sal in the
end. Dean is ultimately the role model for Sal but, we see that Sal thinks otherwise towards the end of
the novel. Their travels bond them together in a way that ordinary friendships rarely do.
Kerouac describes a Beat culture; in On the Road; friendship plays a role in this. Only when Sal is

Not only do Dean s motivations and passions seem to appeal to Sal, Dean shows off a sense of being
young and a natural man . While it seems like nearly everyone else in the novel considers Dean to be
irresponsible, Sal assumes that Dean s erratic behavior proves that he is on a whole different level of
living. In the beginning of the novel, we learn that Dean was involved in sketchy ordeals. He was
arrested for stealing cars in Denver. Instead of looking down on Dean for his actions, Sal instead
believes his actions are just an attempt at searching for pure joy or raw happiness. While I viewed
Dean s behavior otherwise from a negative perspective, Kerouac merely suggests that Dean s actions
are only the result of his quest for happiness. In addition to this, Dean s behavior is portrayed
sympathetically and is not responsible for what the world may see as irresponsible. Seeking out such
behavior is the only way that Sal and Dean see it, to finding the true meaning of life, also known as, It
.
As Sal analyzes Dean as prominently a hero, we as the audience, notice that Dean is incredibly
flawed. He often tends to abandon those who love him and feel absolutely no remorse whatsoever at
his poor judgement. His untimely actions prove that he is nowhere close to a hero. In my opinion, a
main part of the reason for why we seem to hate Dean is because we feel sorry for him. His
obliviousness of being a mess, makes him even more

Reason for Choice of Movie
The selection of film, I have chosen, is based upon my infatuation with the very intriguing storyline it
offers. At first, one may believe that the storyline is nothing more than another movie concerning
football. However, the storyline offers a combination of a beloved American sport, along with
touching accounts of the lives of each main character, as they dealt with grief and despair
independently. Most importantly, the storyline depicts the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
82). One example of narrative storytelling is revealed within the scene in which the university
president inquired as to why the Lengyel was seeking the position. Lengyel responded that he regards
his family as his team and imagines the loss of a family member is equal to the loss of the town, and
that he can empathize with the pain of the community, and wants to help the town with their loss. This
metaphor was a narrative story that allowed the president to relate to Lengyel s reasoning for wanting
to revamp the football program. Another example was the scene in which Lengyel was attempting to
convince the assistant coach, Red Dawson, to return to the program. The assistant coach expressed
that he couldn t continue as assistant coach due to his guilt over having allowed another person to take
his place on the doomed plane. In addition, he cited another reason, as he feels responsible for the fate
of the players as he personally recruited a majority of them and ensured their parents he would keep
them safe. Shortly thereafter, a locomotive train passed. This allowed Lengyel to create a metaphoric
reference as he associated the passing train as having been the same train which derailed a couple of
years ago and is now back on track. This metaphor was the source of reflective thought, which helped
Dawson make the connection between the train having gotten back on track

Claviceps Prpure The Cause Of Hysteria In The Salem Witch...
In 1692, a great evil was cast upon Salem, Massachusetts. Twenty men and women were hanged under
the accusation of performing witchcraft, and in turn created a mass hysteria within the citizens of
Salem. Undoubtedly, the cause of these accusations and hysteria was ergotism, a disease caused by
infected rye grain. The conditions of the region contributed to much of the growth of ergot. Ergotism
had many distinct symptoms, which matched much of the testimony and accounts of those involved in
the Witch Trials. All of these circumstances definitively caused the terror and panic found in the town
of Salem in 1692. Ergot, more specifically known as Claviceps purpurea (The Witches Curse), is a
fungus that mainly infects cereal grains. This fungi is commonly found on the rye plant. In Salem, rye
was a large, sustainable crop due to the plant s growing season coinciding well with the ideal growing
season of the region, as Spring sowing was the rule; the bitter winters made fall sowing less
successful. Seed time for the rye was April and the harvesting took place in August (Linnda Caporael).
The weather and climate also provided for hearty rye crops to be grown. The weather in 1691, the year
the rye consumed in 1692 was grown, was described as Early rains and warm weather in the spring
progressed to a hot and stormy summer (Caporael). This wet weather was ideal for the crop to thrive.
Concurrently, ergot thrived in these wet, warm conditions. Due to the of the overlapping of

Tragic Hero In Anthony Horowitz s Stormbreaker
In Stormbreaker, by Anthony Horowitz, Alex Rider, a British schoolboy learns the truth about his
uncle, Ian Rider. Alex s parents died when he was very young and his uncle Ian had looked after him
ever since. One day Ian mysteriously dies in a fatal car crash. Alex soon learns that his uncle was not a
banker but a spy, working for a secret service, MI6. The criminals Yassen Gregorovich and Darrius
Sayle have teamed up to create a computer with an infectious virus, The Stormbreaker, in hopes of
wiping out millions of British children. Darrius offered to donate one stormbreaker to each school.
MI6 was highly suspicious of Darrious s offer. Ian was assassinated by Yassen Gregorovich while on a
mission to investigate what Darrius and Yassen were up to. Now, Alex must take his uncle s place and

the room where he is supposed to be trying out the stormbreaker. He is told to stay there by Sayle and
to not leave. Sayle is a criminal and would have no problem killing Alex, but he knows what he must
do, find more clues. Finally, Alex shows the most amount courage when he sneaks into the
Stormbreaker manufacturing plant. Alex had escaped out of Sayle s mansion barely alive, yet he
proceeded to the manufacturing building right after. To get there he had to climb down a deep and
dark well, get in through a small air vent, and then sneak past countless armed guards. Once in he had
only a small white pillar to hide behind as he watched the computers be manufactured beneath him.

Maximilien Robespierre And The French Revolution
The French Revolution was a time of civil war in France that was filled with the shed blood of many
for one cause, to create a democratic government. An important figure that dominated the Committee
of Public Safety, a political body that took control of France during the Reign of Terror, was a man
named Maximilien Robespierre.
Robespierre was born the son of a lawyer in Arras, France on May 6, 1758, but during Maximilien s
childhood his siblings and him were raised by their maternal grandparents because Robespierre s
mother s death brought extreme sadness to his father, which resulted in his absence in his children s
life. In 1765, he attended the college of the Oratorians, and four years later he received the scholarship
to attend the most famous college at the time called Louis le Grand in Paris. It was at this
distinguished college that Robespierre found himself fascinated with philosophy and law, and
Maximilien was given his law degree in 1781. Not long after he became a lawyers at Arras, his
childhood city.
Maximilien Robespierre was soon a well known name in the world of legal actions and lawyers, so he
was appointed to be a judge at the Salle Episcopale, which gave him a very profitable income.
Robespierre was now known as a wealthy man of France, and this plays an important part in his role
in the French Revolution. Soon he was admitted into the Arras Academy becoming its chancellor and
later the president.

Aseptic Technique And Culturing Bacteria
MATERIAL and METHODS:
Aseptic Technique and Culturing Microbes(1) experiment was followed as stated in the lab manual
from Clinical Microbiology Class C 453. Aseptic technique was initiated at the beginning of each
experiment. Starting by cleansing the work surface with disinfected wipes to prevent cross
contamination each time. Utilizing the gloves and personal protective equipment assisted in
maintaining a pure culture during the series of experiments. The first step, was to grow the yeast and
bacteria cultures. The materials used for the Aseptic Technique Experiment(1) were: test tube rack, 5
mL nutrient broth tubes, pipettes, a lit tea light, Fleischmen s rapid yeast pack, E. Coli tablet and the S.
epidermidis tablet. Started by activating the yeast, by placing the content of Fleischmen s yeast bag in
a disposable cup. Then added approximately 60 mL of warm tap water into the disposable cup. To
assist in mixing the two items, I carefully swirled the cup. Once the mixture was combined, it then
was left alone for around 10 minutes or until it was frothy. Each nutrient broth tube was labeled with
the correct name of the microorganism that was cultured in that tube and dated. The S. epidermidis
was selected first, to be cultured. Taking one of the 5mL nutrient broth tube in one hand, the pipette in
other hand. The cap was removed with the same hand that had the pipette. Utilizing a lit tea light, like

Most people take the simple things in life for granted. But for others those simple things are great
struggles. Things like social skills and staying focused are struggles for people with autism. When you
look up the definition of autism the most common thing that pops up is Difficulties in social
interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors (What is Autism?). But the
difficulties for people with autism vary with each type they have. In the five different disorders in
ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorders), there are many variations of symptoms and who it affects. The
people living with autism face hard struggles every day. Autism is a very broad word used to describe
disorders in brain development. Another word ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Symptoms vary widely with this disorder. Generally children with PDD NOS lack social skills. They
don t have language skills of those with Aspergers, but they are better than those with autistic disorder.
Individuals also have fewer repetitive behaviors than individuals with Asperger s and autistic disorder.
There is not a specified criteria for diagnosing PDD NOS because no two individuals have the exact
same symptoms. Therefore if a child is believed to be autistic but does not meet criteria for autistic
disorder or asperger s then they will be diagnosed with PDD NOS (Autism Spectrum Disorders).
Autistic Disorder is the next level of ASDs. Children with autistic disorder have more severe
impairments in social and language skills, and repetitive behaviors. Also, often an individual with
autistic disorder will have mental retardation and seizures. (Autism Spectrum Disorders) A rare form
of ASD is Rett syndrome. This syndrome affects mostly girls; one in 10,000 to 15,000 girls will
develop this syndrome. Rett syndrome is caused by genetic mutation. It occurs randomly and is not
inherited. Signs and symptoms of this syndrome occur between six and eighteen months of birth. The
childs head growth slows down rapidly, the child stops responding socially, and the child loses
language skills. (Autism Spectrum Disorders) The most severe and least common form of ASD

The poem opens with the line Hope is the thing with feather. In this line, persona associated hope and
bird and made a metaphor. Then it follows like this, That perches in the soul/ And sings the tune
without words/ And never stops at all. In these lines, persona thinks that hope is like a singing bird,
even though sometimes it doesn t speak to us, eternally it will stay permanent in us. Also by
mentioning, hope as a permanent thing in inside of us, allows us to acquire most of what life gives to
us. The second stanza creates some kind of opposition for the hope, and in this stanza persona
metaphorically describe a person, who destroys his/her hope. By saying, And sore must be the
storm/That could abash the little bird/ That kept so many warm, persona used an impressive metaphor
by associating storm with anger and negativity. The storm abash the bird (hope) and cause pain and
discomfort hurts it. In the fourth stanza, with the following line which is I ve heard it in the chilliest
lands, persona tried to make her reader to believe in hope, she tried to convince that hope is
everywhere. In the last two lines, Yet never in extremity/ It asked a crumb of me , persona mentioned
that hope is a gift that doesn t exist for

halal and vegetarian foods. 2. Arrival time was earlier than what was stated on the ticket which was

2.2 THE SERVICE VALUE
Value is the customer s assessments of the benefits of the service weighted against all the cost
involved. (Johnston and Clark, 2008, pg. 44). In a service organisation, operations determine the
balance between minimising organisational cost and maximising customer s value. The service value
of BA includes the following: 1. All inclusive prices for the journey. 2. Free foods, drinks and
entertainment (television [audio and video], and headphones) while on board. 3. Tickets are expensive
compared to other airlines that provide the same services at cheaper rates. 4. Overall satisfactory
values for money.
Therefore, the service concept of BA gives a worldwide linkage of interconnecting flights and a range
of services for different group of travellers. BA follow this objective by establishing a complex
linkage of routes and by developing collaboration with other organisations (airlines) that enhance
international coverage and provide links among routes. Operationally, the main focus and concern of
BA is to ensure greater level of customer service, to generate international network, and to manage
route effectiveness.

The Risks Of A Risk Assessment
Every institute is confronted with certain hazard or probable menace that could cause an intermission
to the administration s procedures. These hazards and intimidation can come from inside or external of
the association. To prepare for the foulest that could occur, administrations must emphasis their
responsiveness on how to evaluate diverse types of perils to guard the society against the conceivable
undesirable effects to the diurnal processes. Execution of a risk valuation is one of the most imperative
phases in the risk managing procedure (Goldenberg 2011).
A Risk Assessment is intermittent valuation of the hazard and degree of the damage that could result
from the unsanctioned admittance, usage, revelation, disturbance, alteration, or obliteration of data and
material structures that sustain the processes and properties of the association. The risk assessment
must contain a deliberation of the chief aspects in risk management: the worth of the scheme or
submission, intimidation, susceptibilities, and the efficiency of present or projected safeguards.
Many administrations accomplish risk valuations to ration the quantity of hazards that could affect
their association, and recognize methods to diminish these menaces before a chief catastrophe occurs.
Department of Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) monitors strategies and guidelines
administered by procedures by which the association evaluates and accomplishes coverage to hazards.

Motherhood, the Needle and Thread
Think of one person you can turn to for advice, expect love and warmth from, or tell you who you
should be dating. In most cases one s mother or a mother figure would spring into their minds.
Motherhood is and underlying theme that affects all characters in both Persepolis and A Thousand
Splendid Suns. Essentially, it highlights the unfair treatment directed towards women in their
countries. During the course of both novels all women, even those who were not mothers, are
burdened with the strict morals imposed upon them. For instance, Marjane had issues with staying true
to herself and Laila had difficulties with raising her daughter Aziza and son Zalmai. These religious
and governmental restrictions enforced upon women by men facilitated in painting a clear portrayal of
sacrifice, strength and love that women and mothers needed to attain in order to survive. Despite the
prevalence of a masculine dominant society, the true importance of motherhood and femininity
prevails; binding the novels Persepolis and A Thousand Splendid Suns. Relative to both novels,
motherhood can be assigned an all encompassing definition. Motherhood is the feeling of warmth,
cultural memory, and freedom; it is willing to sacrifice anything for the betterment of the child. One
does not have to physically bare an offspring to be considered a mother. To embrace the characteristics
of motherhood means presenting ultimate love and affection and using complete agency when raising
the child. Maternity

Why Is The Battle Of Gettysburg Important
With over 51,000 dead and wounded soldiers, the battle of Gettysburg is arguably the costliest and
bloodiest battle of the Civil war. Many people have heard and maybe even memorized the Gettysburg
Address by President Abraham Lincoln without truly understanding the significance of the battle. To
be able to understand why the battle of Gettysburg was so important, one must understand what
happened during the three day battle, what it was like for the soldiers to fight in the circumstances of
the battle, and the effects of the battle on American History. The battle of Gettysburg is the most well
known and important battle in the Civil War to understand because of the monumental events leading
up to and during the actual battle, the weighty significance of the events, and the address by President
Lincoln.
The battle of Gettysburg is the most important battle of the Civil War because of the events leading up
to Gettysburg. General Lee and the Confederate Army had the momentum. Lee s reputation as a
General was steadily increasing. Confederate victories in Chancellorsville and Fredericksburg along
with indecisive battles in Tennessee and along the Mississippi River caused uneasiness among

cavalry had arrived the day before with his 2,950 troopers. He predicted correctly that the

the morning. He did not, however, predict the force in which they would come and was badly
damaged. This event ties into all the other Confederate victories leading up to Gettysburg in its
relevance in showing how important the Union victory was. They came back from against the odds

The relation between science and art has been long lasting. The first scientific discipline that comes to
mind is mathematics and specifically geometry. Before the scientific method of Bacon and the

The new knowledge of light, color and human anatomy prior to the 1700s along with the knowledge
of the ancients helped Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo achieve a higher degree of artistry in their
works. The use of sfumato was one. Instead of stark linear definition of shapes, something is left to the
imagination by the hazy blurring of lines. It is said that the Mona Lisa displays this in the ds Vinci s
use of sfumato for the corners of the eyes and mouth of Mona Lisa to elevate the mystery of her
expression.(Phaidon, 2015).
Artists of the age became anatomists by necessity to reach a level of intuitive familiarity with the

The Importance Of City Budget Cuts
City budget cuts have a dramatic effect on neighborhood associations. Cutting services and closing
fire stations will have far reaching ramifications. Once these cuts are made, they are seldom ever
given back, and if they are it is with great difficulty to the constituents. There are a number of actions
that a neighborhood association can take to combat these types of cuts and express their concerns. One
of the first things that can be done is to petition the elected officials and ask for them to follow a
different course in trying to balance the budget. Use of a petition is an acceptable way to demonstrate
the importance of the issue and documents in writing the issues and expectations as well as giving a
tangible list of supporters to the

Comparing Pandora s Box And The Flying Dutchman
Stories Explained
Introduction
Myths, fairy tales, folk tales, legends and fables we all grew up hearing various wonderfully
descriptive stories from each of the above listed categories. We might not have known that there are
different categories for the stories we heard, maybe you thought, just like me, that a story was just a
story: something to entertain and captivate you on a rainy day or a trigger to ensure vastly creative
dreams as it is read moments before you fall asleep. Each of the stories that you have heard belongs to
a specific category.
Myths and legends are both based on historical events, but neither of them is true since the events
went undocumented and no proof was found to substantiate the claims. In a myth the story ... Show

Curiosity is a trait that must be tamed otherwise it might lead to your downfall, is Pandora s Box s
main theme. Zeus lied to Pandora when he told her that she may not open it the box, this later piqued
her curiosity about the box. These two themes go well together because so often, when we hear people
tell lies, we become curious.
The conclusion
Every story had a different theme, setting, storyline and characters. But even though these stories were
completely different, it was still possible to find similarities between them. The differences between
them are what make them special and wonderfully unique.
Stories are such a valuable instrument to teach children important life lessons and morals. It is a way
to connect with them at their level so that they can process and understand what you are trying to say.
Even if they only subconsciously catch the underlining lesson you weaved into the story, it is still
there and the child will always use that story as reference. Stories stay with us forever

Barack Obama s Path Of Presidency
Barack Obama s path to presidency was extremely difficult and one of the best executed political
strategies in recent memory. In a country still ripe with racism and bigotry, a black man of mixed
heritage was able to become the 44th President of the United States of America, an incredible
accomplishment that many didn t think was possible. For most politicians with career goals set
towards lofty government positions like the Commander in Chief, there is a well worn path that many
choose to take that leads up to running for such a high office. One part of that path is that somewhere
along the way you need to write a book or memoir of some sort, this can help establish early how
people feel about you and can start generating a buzz among voters, especially if you are already in a
position in Congress. President Obama did the same thing in 1995 when he began his quest to join the
Illinois Senate by writing his memoir, Dreams from My Father and later republished the same book in
2004 when he was running for the U.S. Senate. In Dreams from My Father, Obama s words are often
frank and honest in a way that most people wouldn t expect from a man that eventually becomes the
leader of the free world. He talks very openly about casual drug use and his leisure time as a young
man in a way that many think would raise flags for some potential voters seeing that most people want
to believe the illusion of the polished and perfected lifestyles that people running for office often show

pronouns agree with and clearly refer to their antecedents. Pronoun Antecedent Agreement Pronouns
are words that refer to persons, places, ideas, and things. They take the place of nouns or other
pronouns or refer to people, places, things, and ideas. The words they take the place of or refer to are
called the pronouns antecedents. Pronouns should agree with (have the same gender and number as)
their antecedents. Pronouns can be masculine (and refer to male persons or animals), feminine (and
refer to female persons or animals), or neuter (and refer to things or to people or animals of
unspecified gender). Every boy should have his pencil and notebook. [The pronoun his refers to the ...

Benefits Of Spinach Cells
The goal of this project to use detergents and surfactants to decellularize spinach leaves, leaving just
the extracellular matrix. In addition, the secondary goal is to culture rat cardiac cells and use the
extracellular matrix as a three dimensional scaffolds for tissue growth. Tissue Engineering As stated
by Castells Sala et al. (2013) tissue Engineering is a [developing] scientific field focused on the
development substitutes for tissues by controlling biological, biophysical and/or biomechanical
parameters in the laboratory. The general principles of tissue engineering involve combining living
cells with a natural/ synthetic support or scaffold to build a three dimensional living construct.

(Chan Leong, 2008). Biocompatibility is also an important factor. The material should be biologically
compatible with the host tissue so it does not cause an immune or inflammatory response. (Pluta,
Malina, Sobczak Kupiec, 2012). While the cells grow on the scaffold they generate a matrix around
themselves, the scaffold provides structure and is eventually absorbed by the body; leaving the newly
formed tissue to manage mechanical support. (Pluta, Malina, Sobczak Kupiec, 2012). The scaffold
needs to be absorbed by the surrounding tissue at a rate compatible with the rate of tissue growth, so
the new tissue can function independently and avoid the need for surgical removal. Lastly, to ensure
functionality, the mechanical properties of the Scaffold should compatible with the tissue type. (Pluta,
Malina, Sobczak Kupiec, 2012; Chan Leong, 2008). Designing scaffolds with the mechanical and
physical properties appropriate for the tissue type, specifically for the vascular system, is the most
challenging part of tissue engineering. (Pluta, Malina, Sobczak Kupiec, 2012). No tissue can survive
without being able to move and diffuse nutrients, oxygen, and waste product...So vasculturation, the
process of making something vascular, is key to ensuring the long term survival and function of

Ach Challenge 1 – Entering International Trade
1. Introduction
This case study analysis is based on the case ACH Challenge 1 Entering International Trade .
American Colonial Heritage Inc. (hereinafter named ACH ) is a US American producer of furniture
that presently only sells its products in the USA and Canadian markets and does marginal exports to
the UK. However, these exports have not proved to be successful so far. The company is fictional and
the strategic decision to be taken during the case study analysis is dated back in 2006. Thus, no
developments after this year are the basis of this analysis. Furthermore, the case is examined from the
point of view of Ms Alexandra Jones who is a member of the International Expansion Team at ACH.

figures that represent the economic strength of the individual economies. Referring to the absolute
GDP (ppp) values, Switzerland has got the largest economic output of US$ 252.9bln in 2006. Portugal
and Denmark generated US$ 203.1bln and US$ 198.5 respectively. However, if the GDP is evaluated
on a per capita bases, Denmark has got the strongest economy (US$ 35660) followed by Switzerland
(US$ 33600) and Portugal (US$ 22100). The same order holds for the GDP growth rates in 2006 (see
fig. 3)
The social circumstances in the countries are mainly impacted by unemployment rates and general
standards of living. Unemployment rates in 2006 (see fig. 4) are well below EU average in
Switzerland (3.9%). This figure is higher in Portugal (7.8%) and Denmark (4%). Moreover, living
standards in Denmark (government welfare measures) and Switzerland are reported to be
comparatively high. Figure 4: Unemployment (in % of workforce)
Although the technical state of the countries is not of highest importance as ACH is not planning to

Essay about Poetry Analysis Mezzo Cammin
Mezzo Cammin
The poem Mezzo Cammin by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow explains his regretful life and his
reasoning at why he didn t live it to its full potential and how he looks at his past. It then looks to his
future as being near and bearing a huge weight down on him. The way Longfellow talks about his life
is depressing. He doesn t speak of the good accomplishments, only the things he hasn t done until he
looks back into the past and then forward at how the future may be. In the first part of the poem
Longfellow talks about his life being halfway over and everything that stopped him from really living
his life. In the very first couple of lines he says I have let the years slip from me and have not fulfilled

He describes it strangely, And hear above me on the autumnal blast The cataract of Death far
thundering from the heights. These lines are very open ended and in one way he could be speaking of
death as far away by the way he describes the thundering waterfall very high up. The reference to
height could mean its at a good distance that he can see it, but its still far away. It could also mean he
has more of his life to live up to and his regretful past doesn t mean much to him anymore because he
has his future to look forward to as he is on his metaphorical hill of life. In another view, he could be
describing death as being right around the corner and him looking right at it when he describes the
waterfall. You could look at it as him having a life threatening disease and him knowing his death is
coming soon, which could also describe the way he views his past full of regret. If he knew the end is
coming soon and he doesn t believe he fully lived his life to how he wishes, the regret is
understandable and the cataract of death makes sense in this point of view. Overall, this poem shows
the past, present, and future of the writer. His life is full of regret at points and then seems hopeful in
others. This poem could be viewed in many ways but mostly you understand it as a man who wishes
he could change his past because he knows his future is near and his life will soon be coming to an

The Growth Of Aquatic Moss Under Different Lighting...
Introduction: motivation: I have chosen to study the growth of aquatic moss under different lighting
conditions. The reason I have chosen this is because I have been maintaining fish tanks for a couple of
years now and have noticed that the plants grow different shades of green and at a faster or slower rate
depending under which light source they are placed. I chose moss as it is a common fast growing plant
that is quite hardy making it easier to see how the light effects it. I am interested to see the different
results as I would like to start growing more expensive plants and want them to grow under the best
conditions possible
investigative question: Aquatic moss grows at a faster rate under natural sunlight rather than artificial
light.
Aim: At what rate will aquatic moss grow under a pink uv light, blue uv light and natural sunlight.
hypothesis: Aquatic moss will grow at its quickest rate under a white uv light.
Literature review:
Lumens refer precisely to how much light a particular light source gives off, rather than how much
energy it produces. Easy plants 15 25 lumen per litre, medium 25 50 lumen per litre, advanced 50
lumen per litre. Have an equal spread of lighting throughout tank as it decreases as it gets near the
edges. Metal halide lamps produce the most light, closely followed by the modern high output LED
lights plus they are small so you can have lots of them close together. T5 and T8 bulbs both produce

The Design Strategy For Energy Efficient Buildings
In the past few decades, climate change has been an essential topic for the global citizens due to the
use of fossil fuel and other pollutions, which contribute an estimated 70% of the world s energy

Lincoln and the Abolitionists Essay
LINCOLN AND THE ABOLITIONISTS
History records Abraham Lincoln as the Great Emancipator, yet ardent abolitionists of his day such as
William Lloyd Garrison viewed him with deep suspicion. That the 16th president eventually achieved
the abolitionists most cherished dream, says biographer Allen Guelzo, happened through a curious
combination of political maneuvering, personal conviction, and commitment to constitutional
principle.
One of the ironies of the Civil War era and the end of slavery in the United States has always been that
the man who played the role of the Great Emancipator was so hugely mistrusted and so energetically
vilified by the party of abolition. Abraham Lincoln, whatever his larger reputation as the liberator of

Lincoln s election did not mute abolitionist criticism. His unwillingness to use the outbreak of the
Civil War in the spring of 1861 as a pretext for immediate abolition convinced William Lloyd
Garrison that Lincoln was unwittingly helping to prolong the war, and to render the result more and
more doubtful! If he is 6 feet 4 inches high, he is only a dwarf in mind! Garrison had never really

the issue of noninvolvement in politics, hoped for better from Lincoln, but only seemed to get more
disappointments. Lincoln s presidential inaugural, with its promise not to interfere with southern
slavery if the southern states attempted no violent withdrawal from the Union, left Douglass with no
very hopeful impression of Lincoln. If anything, Lincoln had only confirmed Douglass s worst fears,

Weaknesses Of Literature
A bewildering number of research reports are published annually. The reports differ with regard to
quality, comprehensibility, and relevance to practice (Mårtensson et.al, 2016). Furthermore, the studies
may have multiple strengths and weaknesses depending on the research methodology they employ.
Therefore, to establish a solid foundation for research on any subject and to prevent the replication of
inaccurate information, it is essential that scholars critically evaluate the available scientific evidence
(Mårtensson et al., 2016). The critical evaluation of philosophies or claims is crucial in the
development of independent thinkers and informed decision makers. It is the only way of
distinguishing among differing claims of truths and determining the credibility or trustworthiness of
different viewpoints. On that note, this essay seeks to analyze two pieces of literature that try to
answer the question as to whether the stimulant use is related to positive academic performance

Full House Character Analysis
In a 1987 sitcom Full House they portray something close to an average family. The family consist of
Danny Tanner the father of DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle. His role as the father in the family is to teach
the children life lessons and to discipline them. He also has the role of cooking, cleaning, etc. a role
typically giving to the mother in family sitcoms, but because of the mother s death he also has to take
on these roles. Michelle being the baby of the family is portrayed as cute, but slightly manipulative in
trying to get her own way. The middle child Stephanie is seen as devious, and nosey. The final child
DJ is the oldest and acts like what a typical older sibling would be, always looking out for her younger

This show represents the importance of life lessons, and the way the children are being raised. Saying
that the way the children are being taught and disciplined plays an important role on what they do in
the real world. The way this family successfully represents the importance of how the kids are being
raised is the communication between each parental figure. In one episode Danny the father of the
children told Jesse( cool uncle ) to watch over the children while he was gone. This was an issue
because Jesse was too busy writing music to pay attention to Michelle the younger child. Michele later
in the episode became bored and decided she wanted to walk the dog and because Jesse was too busy
she went on her own and ended up losing the dog across the street. Instead of going across the street
after the dog she stayed back and told Jesse and Danny what happened. It was understandable that
Danny would be upset with Jesse after hearing this, but instead of the issue becoming worse Danny
talked it out with Jesse. This allowed him to learn to never leave the children unattended again, fixing

Persuasive Essay On Organ Transplants
According to the United States Department of Health and Human Services, there are currently around
117,000 people with their lives currently on hold, hoping and praying for an organ transplant that will
save their lives. Not only are those patients waiting on the transplant list lives impacted, but also the
lives of the family and friends of those 117,000 men, women, and children who are also forced to
patiently sit and wait, in hopes that their loved one is lucky enough to receive their vital organ.
However, because of the extreme decline in the U.S. of organ donors and an extreme increase in
patients in need an organ transplant, the likelihood of their loved ones receiving one of these
lifesaving transplants is quickly deteriorating more and more each day. As the national rates for the
number of organ transplants preformed continue to rise more and more each year, the gap between
supply and demand for these organs still continue to expand (Organ Procurement and Transplantation
Network). As a nation, we have continued to advance medically, since the first successful organ
transplantation in 1945 by Nobel Prize winner Joseph Murray, while currently maintaining a 90%
success rate which is both nationally and internationally an all time high (LiveOnNY.org). According
to Barbra Mantel in her article Organ Donations Can the growing demand for organs be met this
problem continues to grow each day despite the recent groundbreaking medical advances, solely
because of the increasing need of donated organs not being able to keep up with the exceedingly
growing number of patents in need of an organ transplant.
I am personally extremely connected to this intensifying issue because I have witnessed first hand
both tragedy and great success involved with the both sides of organ donation through the lives of a
donor and a recipient. Last year, one of my closest friend s 12 year old sister, Kenzie, tragically passed
away unexpectedly from what was thought just to be a common migraine, but turned out to be so
much more. I was forced to watch as one of my best friends, the rest of her family, and our entire town

ABSTRACT
The new series of two new hydrazone derivatives and their vanadium complexes have been
synthesized bearing the formula M[DPDH](BF4)2 and M[DCDH](BF4)2, where M=V, DPDTPH=
(2,6 diacetylpyridine N,N Pyridine 2,6 dicarboxylic acid dihydrazone) and DCDTPH = (2,6 pyridine
diacarbonyl di chloride N N Pyridine 2,6 dicarboxylic acid dihydrazone) and
(BF4)=Tetrafluoroborate. The ligand and complexes have been analyzed for elemental analysis,
spectral studies, and conductivity measurements. Different techniques like FT IR, electronic data were
used to investigate the structural features of the synthesized compounds. Electronic absorption and IR
spectra indicate octahedral geometry. The antimicrobial activity of ligand and hydrazone derivatives
and their vanadium complexes against bacteria and fungi shows the complexes have been found to be
manifold active biologically than the ligand.
Key Words: Hydrazone derivatives, FT IR, Spectral and antimicrobial Studies.

educators in 1939 and was able to complete it during the war. Malaguzzi graduated from Pedagogy to
become a primary school teacher, and later went off to study psychology. In doing so he introduced his
lifetime work of education to his interests and experience in many of the arts: theatre, journalism,
sports and politics. According to the Bali ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each individual has an image of the child that directs on how they can relate through their own
experiences. Malaguzzi states that this theory, within one s self pushes them to behave in certain ways
that depend on your views of the child. This will orient someone as they talk to the child, listen to
them, and in their observation. It will become very difficult for a person to behave on contrary to their
behavior. An example of such behavior would be say that one is solely convinced that boys and girls
are different, chances are that this method of thinking will influence one to treat and behave
differently between the boys and girls (Malaguzzi, 1994). In other words, it is possible that he is
stating that one should not immediately conclude on who the child is before even getting to know
them. The vision of Reggio Emilia schools is always changing, but its goal is always the same. The
scholastic website states that the continuous of the philosophy can best be described in Malaguzzi s
words: What children learn does not follow as an automatic result from what is taught. Rather, it is in
large part due to the children s own doing as a consequence of their activities and our resources

  • 2. Task 2 Failures to Protect Individuals Essay TASK 2 Identify two reports on serious failures to protect individuals (ADULTS) from abuse. Write an account that describes the unsafe practices in the reviews. Look on Google under UK failures in adult care Report 1. In March 2002, a 30 year old woman with learning disabilities was admitted to Borders General Hospital in Scotland with multiple injuries as a result of sustained physical and sexual assaults. The abuse had been carried out at home and was perpetrated by three men, one of whom was her carer. The case of the vulnerable adult is the term that the individual involved has asked to be used. Her identity is protected under rules giving anonymity to victims of rape. The woman had made allegations against one of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If all seemed well they could have arranged visits for support for the girl for example. Knowing or finding out weather a person is able to fully understand when they have a disability is a difficult thing to do. When the girl s mother passed away the perpetrator was allowed to become the girls carer and the abuse continued. Before this man was allowed to become the girls carer agencies/social services should have fully investigated the man s past, he should have gone through interviews and the agencies could have observed/investigated the man s and girl s relation/friendship. There would have been no harm for the agencies to go and check on the woman years later and keep on top of visits because if they did this the signs of abuse would have been clear such as dehydration and lack of food, poor clothing, torn genital area and marks on her face and body. Report 2. NHS staff persistently abused a blind and deaf man with a low IQ by tying him up for 16 hours a day, government inspectors revealed today in a damning report on services for people with learning disabilities. Carers employed by the Cornwall Partnership NHS trust bound his arms together with cloth bandages and fastened them to his bed or wheelchair, to stop him slapping himself in the face. • 3. Education at a Year-Round School Essay Education at a Year Round School Consider the following situation: A car is driving past the local elementary school on a hot and sunny July afternoon. As the car approached the school the driver notices some unusual things. Students are outside with the teachers for recess, and it looks as if school is in session. The school is on a year round schedule. The driver is intrigued and decides to do some research. From the research, this person found that students are achieving more academically and the teachers are well rested. Year round schooling is beneficial to school systems because: it alleviates overcrowding, offers remedial opportunities, decreases teacher burnout, increases retention rates, assists English as a Second Language ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each track of students is staggered throughout the year so that each group is attending the school at different times. For example, a school that has 1000 students could rotate them into five groups of 200 students each. Using a multi track schedule also decreases the need for construction of new schools. According to Rivera, of the Washington Post (2003): when employing a multi track schedule, 25 percent more students can attend year round schools, without added construction (para. 8). (9)Additionally, Barber (1996) adds that The Soccoro Independent School District, in Texas, saved 30 million dollars of tax payer money by using a multi track schedule (para. 4). One result of overcrowding is a lack of personal assistance. Remediation Students are struggling in school and need extra remediation. All too often in schools who run on a traditional school calendar, students do not receive the help they need until summer school. By that point it is too late and the student is failing academically. Robert Smotherman, superintendent of Bardstown City School District in Kentucky (as quoted by Wildavsky (1999)) says, Instead of waiting until summer school, you catch him [student] in October, and you ve got a shot at getting him back on track (para. 8). Two men travel all over and share their experiences amongst each other. All throughout the novel, we as readers, discover that their unique bond transcends the normal version of friendship. Becoming brothers and ultimately comrades. A sense of madness develops in Sal in the end. Dean is ultimately the role model for Sal but, we see that Sal thinks otherwise towards the end of the novel. Their travels bond them together in a way that ordinary friendships rarely do. Kerouac describes a Beat culture; in On the Road; friendship plays a role in this. Only when Sal is around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only do Dean s motivations and passions seem to appeal to Sal, Dean shows off a sense of being young and a natural man . While it seems like nearly everyone else in the novel considers Dean to be irresponsible, Sal assumes that Dean s erratic behavior proves that he is on a whole different level of living. In the beginning of the novel, we learn that Dean was involved in sketchy ordeals. He was arrested for stealing cars in Denver. Instead of looking down on Dean for his actions, Sal instead believes his actions are just an attempt at searching for pure joy or raw happiness. While I viewed Dean s behavior otherwise from a negative perspective, Kerouac merely suggests that Dean s actions are only the result of his quest for happiness. In addition to this, Dean s behavior is portrayed sympathetically and is not responsible for what the world may see as irresponsible. Seeking out such behavior is the only way that Sal and Dean see it, to finding the true meaning of life, also known as, It . As Sal analyzes Dean as prominently a hero, we as the audience, notice that Dean is incredibly flawed. He often tends to abandon those who love him and feel absolutely no remorse whatsoever at his poor judgement. His untimely actions prove that he is nowhere close to a hero. In my opinion, a main part of the reason for why we seem to hate Dean is because we feel sorry for him. His obliviousness of being a mess, makes him even more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One example of narrative storytelling is revealed within the scene in which the university president inquired as to why the Lengyel was seeking the position. Lengyel responded that he regards his family as his team and imagines the loss of a family member is equal to the loss of the town, and that he can empathize with the pain of the community, and wants to help the town with their loss. This metaphor was a narrative story that allowed the president to relate to Lengyel s reasoning for wanting to revamp the football program. Another example was the scene in which Lengyel was attempting to convince the assistant coach, Red Dawson, to return to the program. The assistant coach expressed that he couldn t continue as assistant coach due to his guilt over having allowed another person to take his place on the doomed plane. In addition, he cited another reason, as he feels responsible for the fate of the players as he personally recruited a majority of them and ensured their parents he would keep them safe. Shortly thereafter, a locomotive train passed. This allowed Lengyel to create a metaphoric reference as he associated the passing train as having been the same train which derailed a couple of years ago and is now back on track. This metaphor was the source of reflective thought, which helped Dawson make the connection between the train having gotten back on track ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Claviceps Prpure The Cause Of Hysteria In The Salem Witch... In 1692, a great evil was cast upon Salem, Massachusetts. Twenty men and women were hanged under the accusation of performing witchcraft, and in turn created a mass hysteria within the citizens of Salem. Undoubtedly, the cause of these accusations and hysteria was ergotism, a disease caused by infected rye grain. The conditions of the region contributed to much of the growth of ergot. Ergotism had many distinct symptoms, which matched much of the testimony and accounts of those involved in the Witch Trials. All of these circumstances definitively caused the terror and panic found in the town of Salem in 1692. Ergot, more specifically known as Claviceps purpurea (The Witches Curse), is a fungus that mainly infects cereal grains. This fungi is commonly found on the rye plant. In Salem, rye was a large, sustainable crop due to the plant s growing season coinciding well with the ideal growing season of the region, as Spring sowing was the rule; the bitter winters made fall sowing less successful. Seed time for the rye was April and the harvesting took place in August (Linnda Caporael). The weather and climate also provided for hearty rye crops to be grown. The weather in 1691, the year the rye consumed in 1692 was grown, was described as Early rains and warm weather in the spring progressed to a hot and stormy summer (Caporael). This wet weather was ideal for the crop to thrive. Concurrently, ergot thrived in these wet, warm conditions. Due to the of the overlapping of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An important figure that dominated the Committee of Public Safety, a political body that took control of France during the Reign of Terror, was a man named Maximilien Robespierre. Robespierre was born the son of a lawyer in Arras, France on May 6, 1758, but during Maximilien s childhood his siblings and him were raised by their maternal grandparents because Robespierre s mother s death brought extreme sadness to his father, which resulted in his absence in his children s life. In 1765, he attended the college of the Oratorians, and four years later he received the scholarship to attend the most famous college at the time called Louis le Grand in Paris. Aseptic technique was initiated at the beginning of each experiment. Starting by cleansing the work surface with disinfected wipes to prevent cross contamination each time. Utilizing the gloves and personal protective equipment assisted in maintaining a pure culture during the series of experiments. The first step, was to grow the yeast and bacteria cultures. The materials used for the Aseptic Technique Experiment(1) were: test tube rack, 5 mL nutrient broth tubes, pipettes, a lit tea light, Fleischmen s rapid yeast pack, E. Coli tablet and the S. epidermidis tablet. Started by activating the yeast, by placing the content of Fleischmen s yeast bag in a disposable cup. Then added approximately 60 mL of warm tap water into the disposable cup. To assist in mixing the two items, I carefully swirled the cup. Once the mixture was combined, it then was left alone for around 10 minutes or until it was frothy. Each nutrient broth tube was labeled with the correct name of the microorganism that was cultured in that tube and dated. The S. epidermidis was selected first, to be cultured. Therefore if a child is believed to be autistic but does not meet criteria for autistic disorder or asperger s then they will be diagnosed with PDD NOS (Autism Spectrum Disorders). Autistic Disorder is the next level of ASDs. Children with autistic disorder have more severe impairments in social and language skills, and repetitive behaviors. Also, often an individual with autistic disorder will have mental retardation and seizures. (Autism Spectrum Disorders) A rare form of ASD is Rett syndrome. This syndrome affects mostly girls; one in 10,000 to 15,000 girls will develop this syndrome. Rett syndrome is caused by genetic mutation. It occurs randomly and is not inherited. Signs and symptoms of this syndrome occur between six and eighteen months of birth. The poem opens with the line Hope is the thing with feather. In this line, persona associated hope and bird and made a metaphor. Then it follows like this, That perches in the soul/ And sings the tune without words/ And never stops at all. In these lines, persona thinks that hope is like a singing bird, even though sometimes it doesn t speak to us, eternally it will stay permanent in us. Also by mentioning, hope as a permanent thing in inside of us, allows us to acquire most of what life gives to us. The second stanza creates some kind of opposition for the hope, and in this stanza persona metaphorically describe a person, who destroys his/her hope. By saying, And sore must be the storm/That could abash the little bird/ That kept so many warm, persona used an impressive metaphor by associating storm with anger and negativity. The storm abash the bird (hope) and cause pain and discomfort hurts it. In the fourth stanza, with the following line which is I ve heard it in the chilliest

  • 15. The Risks Of A Risk Assessment Every institute is confronted with certain hazard or probable menace that could cause an intermission to the administration s procedures. These hazards and intimidation can come from inside or external of the association. To prepare for the foulest that could occur, administrations must emphasis their responsiveness on how to evaluate diverse types of perils to guard the society against the conceivable undesirable effects to the diurnal processes. Execution of a risk valuation is one of the most imperative phases in the risk managing procedure (Goldenberg 2011). A Risk Assessment is intermittent valuation of the hazard and degree of the damage that could result from the unsanctioned admittance, usage, revelation, disturbance, alteration, or obliteration of data and material structures that sustain the processes and properties of the association. The risk assessment must contain a deliberation of the chief aspects in risk management: the worth of the scheme or submission, intimidation, susceptibilities, and the efficiency of present or projected safeguards. Many administrations accomplish risk valuations to ration the quantity of hazards that could affect their association, and recognize methods to diminish these menaces before a chief catastrophe occurs. In most cases one s mother or a mother figure would spring into their minds. Motherhood is and underlying theme that affects all characters in both Persepolis and A Thousand Splendid Suns. Essentially, it highlights the unfair treatment directed towards women in their countries. During the course of both novels all women, even those who were not mothers, are burdened with the strict morals imposed upon them. For instance, Marjane had issues with staying true to herself and Laila had difficulties with raising her daughter Aziza and son Zalmai. These religious and governmental restrictions enforced upon women by men facilitated in painting a clear portrayal of sacrifice, strength and love that women and mothers needed to attain in order to survive. Despite the prevalence of a masculine dominant society, the true importance of motherhood and femininity prevails; binding the novels Persepolis and A Thousand Splendid Suns. Relative to both novels, motherhood can be assigned an all encompassing definition. Motherhood is the feeling of warmth, cultural memory, and freedom; it is willing to sacrifice anything for the betterment of the child. One does not have to physically bare an offspring to be considered a mother. To embrace the characteristics of motherhood means presenting ultimate love and affection and using complete agency when raising the child. Maternity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In a country still ripe with racism and bigotry, a black man of mixed heritage was able to become the 44th President of the United States of America, an incredible accomplishment that many didn t think was possible. For most politicians with career goals set towards lofty government positions like the Commander in Chief, there is a well worn path that many choose to take that leads up to running for such a high office. One part of that path is that somewhere along the way you need to write a book or memoir of some sort, this can help establish early how people feel about you and can start generating a buzz among voters, especially if you are already in a position in Congress. President Obama did the same thing in 1995 when he began his quest to join the Illinois Senate by writing his memoir, Dreams from My Father and later republished the same book in 2004 when he was running for the U.S. Senate. In Dreams from My Father, Obama s words are often frank and honest in a way that most people wouldn t expect from a man that eventually becomes the leader of the free world. The material should be biologically compatible with the host tissue so it does not cause an immune or inflammatory response. (Pluta, Malina, Sobczak Kupiec, 2012). While the cells grow on the scaffold they generate a matrix around themselves, the scaffold provides structure and is eventually absorbed by the body; leaving the newly formed tissue to manage mechanical support. (Pluta, Malina, Sobczak Kupiec, 2012). The scaffold needs to be absorbed by the surrounding tissue at a rate compatible with the rate of tissue growth, so the new tissue can function independently and avoid the need for surgical removal. Lastly, to ensure functionality, the mechanical properties of the Scaffold should compatible with the tissue type. (Pluta, Malina, Sobczak Kupiec, 2012; Chan Leong, 2008). It could also mean he has more of his life to live up to and his regretful past doesn t mean much to him anymore because he has his future to look forward to as he is on his metaphorical hill of life. In another view, he could be describing death as being right around the corner and him looking right at it when he describes the waterfall. You could look at it as him having a life threatening disease and him knowing his death is coming soon, which could also describe the way he views his past full of regret. If he knew the end is coming soon and he doesn t believe he fully lived his life to how he wishes, the regret is understandable and the cataract of death makes sense in this point of view. The reason I have chosen this is because I have been maintaining fish tanks for a couple of years now and have noticed that the plants grow different shades of green and at a faster or slower rate depending under which light source they are placed. I chose moss as it is a common fast growing plant that is quite hardy making it easier to see how the light effects it. I am interested to see the different results as I would like to start growing more expensive plants and want them to grow under the best conditions possible investigative question: Aquatic moss grows at a faster rate under natural sunlight rather than artificial light. Aim: At what rate will aquatic moss grow under a pink uv light, blue uv light and natural sunlight. hypothesis: Aquatic moss will grow at its quickest rate under a white uv light. Literature review: Lumens refer precisely to how much light a particular light source gives off, rather than how much energy it produces. Easy plants 15 25 lumen per litre, medium 25 50 lumen per litre, advanced 50 lumen per litre. Have an equal spread of lighting throughout tank as it decreases as it gets near the edges. • 31. Lincoln and the Abolitionists Essay LINCOLN AND THE ABOLITIONISTS History records Abraham Lincoln as the Great Emancipator, yet ardent abolitionists of his day such as William Lloyd Garrison viewed him with deep suspicion. That the 16th president eventually achieved the abolitionists most cherished dream, says biographer Allen Guelzo, happened through a curious combination of political maneuvering, personal conviction, and commitment to constitutional principle. One of the ironies of the Civil War era and the end of slavery in the United States has always been that the man who played the role of the Great Emancipator was so hugely mistrusted and so energetically vilified by the party of abolition. Abraham Lincoln, whatever his larger reputation as the liberator of two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I went to prominent Republicans, and among others, to Abraham Lincoln and Lyman Trumbull, and neither of them dared to sign that petition, to give me the right to testify in a court of justice!... If we sent our children to school, Abraham Lincoln would kick them out, in the name of Republicanism and anti slavery! Lincoln s election did not mute abolitionist criticism. His unwillingness to use the outbreak of the Civil War in the spring of 1861 as a pretext for immediate abolition convinced William Lloyd Garrison that Lincoln was unwittingly helping to prolong the war, and to render the result more and more doubtful! If he is 6 feet 4 inches high, he is only a dwarf in mind! Garrison had never really believed that Lincoln s Republicans had an issue with the South, and Lincoln himself did nothing once elected to convince him otherwise. Frederick Douglass, who had parted fellowship with Garrison over the issue of noninvolvement in politics, hoped for better from Lincoln, but only seemed to get more disappointments. Lincoln s presidential inaugural, with its promise not to interfere with southern slavery if the southern states attempted no violent withdrawal from the Union, left Douglass with no very hopeful impression of Lincoln. If anything, Lincoln had only confirmed Douglass s worst fears, and he flayed Lincoln as an itinerant Colonization lecturer, showing all his inconsistencies, his pride of race ... • 32. Weaknesses Of Literature A bewildering number of research reports are published annually. The reports differ with regard to quality, comprehensibility, and relevance to practice (Mårtensson et.al, 2016). Furthermore, the studies may have multiple strengths and weaknesses depending on the research methodology they employ. Therefore, to establish a solid foundation for research on any subject and to prevent the replication of inaccurate information, it is essential that scholars critically evaluate the available scientific evidence (Mårtensson et al., 2016). The critical evaluation of philosophies or claims is crucial in the development of independent thinkers and informed decision makers. It is the only way of distinguishing among differing claims of truths and determining the credibility or trustworthiness of different viewpoints. On that note, this essay seeks to analyze two pieces of literature that try to answer the question as to whether the stimulant use is related to positive academic performance among college students. In specific, the paper will analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the two studies and discuss the factors, which influence evidence based practice, with a special consideration of the PICO elements. • 33. Full House Character Analysis In a 1987 sitcom Full House they portray something close to an average family. The family consist of Danny Tanner the father of DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle. His role as the father in the family is to teach the children life lessons and to discipline them. He also has the role of cooking, cleaning, etc. a role typically giving to the mother in family sitcoms, but because of the mother s death he also has to take on these roles. Michelle being the baby of the family is portrayed as cute, but slightly manipulative in trying to get her own way. The middle child Stephanie is seen as devious, and nosey. The final child DJ is the oldest and acts like what a typical older sibling would be, always looking out for her younger siblings. Other characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This show represents the importance of life lessons, and the way the children are being raised. Saying that the way the children are being taught and disciplined plays an important role on what they do in the real world. The way this family successfully represents the importance of how the kids are being raised is the communication between each parental figure. In one episode Danny the father of the children told Jesse( cool uncle ) to watch over the children while he was gone. This was an issue because Jesse was too busy writing music to pay attention to Michelle the younger child. Michele later in the episode became bored and decided she wanted to walk the dog and because Jesse was too busy she went on her own and ended up losing the dog across the street. Instead of going across the street after the dog she stayed back and told Jesse and Danny what happened. It was understandable that Danny would be upset with Jesse after hearing this, but instead of the issue becoming worse Danny talked it out with Jesse. This allowed him to learn to never leave the children unattended again, fixing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is told from four different perspectives to show how different people were affected by the same event. Throughout the novel Galloway uses rhetorical devices such as syntax and imagery to create mood. Galloway uses both short and long syntax to create a calm and peaceful mood when Dragon is imagining he is escaping his horrifying city and meeting his family. Short syntax such as [b]ut he s free and [t]hey will be happy makes the sentence more powerful. The only thing that matters is he s free and they will be happy. This creates peace in Dragon s mind which also calms the reader. Longer syntax is also used such as no one will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Persuasive Essay On Organ Transplants According to the United States Department of Health and Human Services, there are currently around 117,000 people with their lives currently on hold, hoping and praying for an organ transplant that will save their lives. Not only are those patients waiting on the transplant list lives impacted, but also the lives of the family and friends of those 117,000 men, women, and children who are also forced to patiently sit and wait, in hopes that their loved one is lucky enough to receive their vital organ. However, because of the extreme decline in the U.S. of organ donors and an extreme increase in patients in need an organ transplant, the likelihood of their loved ones receiving one of these lifesaving transplants is quickly deteriorating more and more each day. As the national rates for the number of organ transplants preformed continue to rise more and more each year, the gap between supply and demand for these organs still continue to expand (Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network). As a nation, we have continued to advance medically, since the first successful organ transplantation in 1945 by Nobel Prize winner Joseph Murray, while currently maintaining a 90% success rate which is both nationally and internationally an all time high (LiveOnNY.org). According to Barbra Mantel in her article Organ Donations Can the growing demand for organs be met this problem continues to grow each day despite the recent groundbreaking medical advances, solely because of the increasing need of donated organs not being able to keep up with the exceedingly growing number of patents in need of an organ transplant. I am personally extremely connected to this intensifying issue because I have witnessed first hand both tragedy and great success involved with the both sides of organ donation through the lives of a donor and a recipient. Last year, one of my closest friend s 12 year old sister, Kenzie, tragically passed away unexpectedly from what was thought just to be a common migraine, but turned out to be so much more. I was forced to watch as one of my best friends, the rest of her family, and our entire town grieve her catastrophic death. The ligand and complexes have been analyzed for elemental analysis, spectral studies, and conductivity measurements. Different techniques like FT IR, electronic data were used to investigate the structural features of the synthesized compounds. Electronic absorption and IR spectra indicate octahedral geometry. The antimicrobial activity of ligand and hydrazone derivatives and their vanadium complexes against bacteria and fungi shows the complexes have been found to be manifold active biologically than the ligand. Born in Correggio, Italy in the year 1920, he grew up in Fascist, Italy going through the six years of war that devoured his youth as is described in the scholastic website (Pioneers in Our Field, 2001). Malaguzzi decided to become an educator through his father s encouragement, and so he enrolled in a training course for future educators in 1939 and was able to complete it during the war. Malaguzzi states that this theory, within one s self pushes them to behave in certain ways that depend on your views of the child. This will orient someone as they talk to the child, listen to them, and in their observation. It will become very difficult for a person to behave on contrary to their behavior. An example of such behavior would be say that one is solely convinced that boys and girls are different, chances are that this method of thinking will influence one to treat and behave differently between the boys and girls (Malaguzzi, 1994). In other words, it is possible that he is stating that one should not immediately conclude on who the child is before even getting to know them. The vision of Reggio Emilia schools is always changing, but its goal is always the same. The scholastic website states that the continuous of the philosophy can best be described in Malaguzzi s words: What children learn does not follow as an automatic result from what is taught. Rather, it is in large part due to the children s own doing as a consequence of their activities and our resources (Pioneers in Our Field, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
