The Pros and Cons of Cell Phones Essay
The effects of technology on society will always be a double edged sword. The debate is a never
ending one, in which both sides have valid and compelling arguments. The Industrial Revolution
reduced manual labor in the long run, but had negative consequences such as child labor and
sweatshop conditions. Nuclear Power reduces the cost of producing energy, but raises serious
environmental issues like pollution and radiation. In this day in age refusing to assimilate to at
least some form of modern living is simply not an option. One invention causing controversy
today that has yet to cease being alter, modified, and improved since its debut is the ever present

alone every year. The issue of driving while talking on a cell phone has become serious enough
that five states have passed laws prohibiting this type of act and making it a primary offense to
do so. Not only are drivers talking behind the wheel, but many have admitted to engaging in even
more potentially dangerous behavior with their phones such as text messaging and surfing the
internet. A distracted driver is a dangerous one. If you are focused on a conversation and your
eyes are not on the road, drivers cannot be expected to make a quick and safe decision should
the need for one arise. The behavior of a driver while using a cell phone has been compared to
that of one driving while under the influence. Studies have shown that those who use a cell
phone while driving are four times more likely to be involved in a crash than those who don t.
On the flip side, it is very reassuring to know as you are driving down the highway that if you
were to get a flat tire or your engine were to overheat you could flip open that gadget in the cup
holder next to you and have a plan b on the way. Cell phones have also been used to make calls in
more serious life and death situations where immediate help is needed. Obviously, having a cell
phone in your car within reach is much better when the seconds count than finding the nearest land
line. One of the earliest complaints of cell phones was the disturbances they

Compare And Contrast Odysseus And Beowulf
The Odyssey, by Homer, shows what Odysseus went through to get home in the 20 years he was
away from home. From the day Telemachus was born, Odysseus left to go fight in Trogan War. He
fought in Troy for 10 years and then took a worrisome route home for 10 more. He endured death
and many hardships that only he was able to survive throughout the time away from home.
Meanwhile, Beowulfprotrayed good vs. evil, establishing an identity, and what it means to be
heroic. Beowulf, keeper of warriors, defeated Grendal and Grendal s mother. But that wasn t
enough, he had to defeat the most dangerous, petrifying dragon; only then would he retire.
Because of his courage and bravery, his strength wasn t enough this time; he ended up dying for
the Geats when he fought the dragon. Although in a way Odysseus and Beowulf both had support,
they are both powerful heroes who accomplished amazing things; however, Odysseus, who was
known for his cunning, was flawed and had help from the gods, while Beowulf, who was known
for his bravery and strength, was portrayed as flawless.

Odysseus and Beowulf, throughout their peregrinations, were assisted by few and respected by
many. While Odysseus got through his hardships with his smarts and deceiving, Beowulf worked
his way towards prosperity with courage and strength. Odysseus wanted to get home to his son

and Grendel s mother, but that wasn t the cessation of Beowulf; 50 years later, he was confronted
with a dragon. He accomplished everything that he wanted; however, when he took down the
dragon, he went died along with it. Overall, Beowulf and Odysseus are very kindred, but they, also,

Commerce Clause Research Paper
Commerce Clause The commerce clause is located in Article 1, Section 8 and clause 3 of the U.S.
Constitution. According to the commerce clause, the Federal government has the right to regulate
commerce among the U.S. and foreign nations and some states. The commerce clause has led to
great controversy for many years. The commerce clausegives congress authority to legislate in
many areas or address a broad range of issues. The clause however does limit the congress to only
the regulation of interstate commerce. The interstate commerce allows business to be conducted
across the state lines. The states are left with the rights to regulate local and interstate commerce.

Supporters of the ACA and the individual mandate assert that the authority to require citizens to

Solitary Confinement In Prison Essay
According to the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle (Aristotle, 1944), Man is by nature a social
animal... Anyone who either cannot lead the common life or is so self sufficient as not to need to,
and therefore does not partake of society, is either a beast or a god. Was he right? Are humans
meant to communicate with one another on a daily basis and if so, what happens to us if we don t
communicate with people for days on end? In this essay, I ll be attempting to uncover the effects
that solitary confinement has on incarcerated individuals from numerous studies and reviews.
Solitary confinement is when an incarcerated individual gets isolated from humancontact and is
forced to stay in a small, segregated cell. Today, there are two type of... Show more content on

Sometimes described as a prison within a prison , a solitary cell is often no bigger than an
averaged sized horse stable and in most cases, it s only equipped with a toilet and a bed
(Breslow, 2014). Furthermore, Breslow (2014) explains that if an individual is confined to a
solitary cell, they will not mingle with any prisoner under any circumstances. Instead of eating in
the prison cafeteria, their meal is delivered straight to their cell and it s given through a slot in the
door to minimise all contact and instead of getting yard time with their fellow inmates, the
individual is usually subjected to only one hour of yard time alone. The effects that this [extreme
isolation] has on one s sanity differs from person to person, but the medical research that s been
done on the issue all ends with the same conclusion: solitary confinement can pose a great threat to

The Journey Of Independence And Independence
The Journey to Independence It was 11:54 PM, six minutes before my birthday was officially
over. I sat in my darkened bedroom, silent tears streaming down my face, as I waited for a call or
text from my friends. It had been my birthday for twenty three hours and fifty four minutes, and I
had heard nothing from them. I lay in my bed, wondering how this had happened. Before I started
high school, I was part of a close knit group of friends that was nearly inseparable. When freshman
year began, however, things changed. I was gradually pushed out of their circle as they started
making new friends. In the beginning, I let it happen, thinking that they would eventually come
back to me, but I realized that they were not coming back when they let... Show more content on

I went along with it in the beginning, afraid that I would miss out on something unforgettable. But
as their partying continued, they began to make new friends that I had little in common with. My
fear of getting in trouble with my parents was much stronger than my desire to go to parties,
which ended up alienating me. My friends and I were still on good terms, but the tension between
us grew as our definition of fun changed. By the time Christmas break had rolled around, I was
ready to take a break from school and celebrate the holidays, which included my birthday, with my
friends and family. Unbeknownst to me, my fifteenth birthday would be one to remember in the
worst way possible. I did not have high expectations for my birthday. I planned on having an
easygoing day; my family and I were going to see a movie and have dinner at a restaurant of my
choice. I was expecting some Happy Birthday text messages and Facebook posts from friends, a
phone call from my grandma, and some kind of birthday surprise from my best friends. Before I
knew it, however, my birthday was over, and I had heard from just about everyone except for my
two closest friends. I was overwhelmed with confusion, sadness, and eventually, resentment. I
began to think about how I had gone above and beyond to celebrate their birthdays. I had planned
and hosted birthday dinners and parties for both of them, in addition to showering them with cards
and gifts. How could my supposed

Night Of The Living Dead Essay
In 1968, in a cemetery about 30 miles north of downtown Pittsburgh, a movie that would change
cinematic history forever was being created. George Romero s classic film Night of the Living
Dead, was being filmed. Up until 1968, the word zombie had a completely different meaning than it
does today. George A. Romerocreated the horror movie antagonist that many audiences know and
fear. The Pre Romero zombiehas many notable differences from the modern zombie. Most
notably, it is alive and simply under a voodoo curse. These zombies did not crave flesh or brains,
and there were no large scale outbreaks. Night of the Living Deadchanged this all, and paved the
way for the zombie to evolve into what it is today. Although it seems laughable to... Show more

Rather than following a single path, as it had in the past, modern zombie evolution has branched
out like roots on a tree. According to Kevin Boon there are currently 9 major classifications of
zombies ...Zombie Drones, Zombie Ghouls, Bio Zombies, Cultural; Zombies, Zombie Ghosts,
and Zombie Ruses. These many classifications show how the progression of the zombie has
become more than just one thing. The plots of movies have changed along with the types of
zombies. Rather than just a small outbreak, that are often full scale zombie apocalypses. These
large scale outbreaks are caused by many things, such as a cure for cancer in the 2007 thriller I
am Legend, or government experimentation, such as in the 2002 Sci Fi flick 28 Days Later. The
Zombie has also gone on to attain speed, strength, and intelligence, making it a much bigger threat
than before. Imagine the difference between coming across a voodoo zombie, which would be a
bit unsettling at most, and coming across a modern zombie, which would likely mean inevitable
death. As technology and special effects have advanced, so has the ability to create more and more

Examples Of Machiavellian Characters In The Governor
Machiavellian Character Essay: The Governor Brian Blake, also known as The Governor,
presented a terror far greater than cannibalistic zombies throughout seasons two and three of the
hit show, The Walking Dead. He was psychotic; driven mad by the death of his daughter. Using
his position as governor within a small group of survivors and refugees of the zombie
apocalypse, he manipulated, terrorized, lied, cheated, many people in order to secure and
maintain his position of power. Out of the list given in the prompt for this paper, The Governor
matches at least seven of the twelve Machiavellian characteristics. The concepts exhibited most
strongly in The Governor, however, are the concepts of the end justifies the means and the use of
force to avoid danger. In the midst of a zombie apocalypse, the prioritization of self preservation
above all else is understandable. However, even when he had the resources to help himself and
nearly 100 other people, The Governor still slaughtered people who posed even the slightest threat
to his position of power. Machiavelli writes for although the act condemn the doer, the end may

Usually, technology entrepreneurs are motivated to open a business because they believe they
have an innovative product or service that meet a demand from society and can generate profit.
Sometimes, their proposal are innovative indeed, and sometimes not. In this context, identify
innovation opportunities and challenges are crucial to define the company s business model
and, consequently the plan for the success. This case study will evaluate the company Fairphone
in this regard. First, we will introduce the company briefly followed by its business model. Then,
we will present the SWOT analysis that will be the base for this study. After that, we will explain
why we believe that Fairphone is a case of social and disruptive innovation. Next, we will indicate
the concept of opportunity and challenges that will guide the analysis. Finally, the innovation
opportunities will be detailed, including the possible counterpoints identified when appropriate,
and the same will be done with the challenges before the case study conclusion. Fairphone is a
company from Netherlands that was founded in 2013. On the one hand, at first sight, it may seem

Response To Intervention Chapter 1 Summary
Chapter two s main objective is to inform the reader with the definitions, details, and purposes of
the four critical aspects of educating students with disabilities, which include the importance of
collaboration among professionals, the IEP s, the LRE, and inclusive education (p. 45). The
chapter begins discussing some topics that are slightly related to the four critical aspects. The book
goes into the different techniques and programs that are associated with the prereferral process.
Response to Intervention was the process that the book decided to promote and discuss, and the
book decides to start the information here because it is the beginning of the process that most

General educators need to understand the purpose of each term, and this chapter provides a good
amount of information. The next topic is crucial for general education teachers because it discussed
the different styles and approaches of working with special education teachers in ways that will
benefit the students who need extra assistance. The book goes into greater detail on teaming, which
is expected because it is the most diverse strategies of those listed. Then the book dives into the
meat and potatoes of the chapter by discussing the requirements of an IEP. The team and
components are listed with the appropriate descriptions for each statement. Chapter two ends the
IEP section with some of the disadvantages and problems that past IEP s have occurred. This is
helping future educators with preventing the mistakes of the past. The least restrictive environment
and inclusion within a general education classroom are differentiated. This is crucial because
individuals tend to believe that those terms mean the same thing, but they are different

Gomer And Hosea
The book of Hosea has to be one of the oddest books of the entire Bible to some. Who would have
ever thought that God would have asked his obedient and faithful prophet Hosea to go and take
a prostitute to be his wife? There is a common knowledge that God can use anything for His glory.
Therefore, as odd as Hosea and Gomer s story is, it is not exempt from glorifying God. God s loveis
unfailing and unconditional for all of humanity and that was proven in and through the love story
of Hosea and Gomer. In this paper, I will cover God s peculiar instructions for Hosea, Hosea and
Gomer s story, Hosea s heartbreak, the state of Israel during this time, and God s unfailing love for
Israel.
God s Peculiar Instructions for Hosea In Hosea 1:2, God gives Hosea instructions to go out and
marry an adulterous wife and have children of unfaithfulness. God told Hosea to do this because
Israel is guilty of the vilest adultery in departing from the Lord. In the next verse, Hosea married
Gomer, and Gomer had three children back to back and God told Hosea to name them names that
represented His broken relationship with Israel (Hosea 1:4 8).

love. He says in Hosea 14:4: I will heal their backsliding. I will love them freely. Gomer did not
deserve that kind of forgiveness. Neither did the Israelites. God s love extends beyond the limits of
humanity s sinful humanity. He longs to bring us into a state of restoration with

Futures contract
In finance, a futures contract is a standardized contract between two parties to exchange a
specified asset of standardized quantity and quality for a price agreed today (the futures price or
the strike price) but with delivery occurring at a specified future date, the delivery date. The
contracts are traded on a futures exchange. The party agreeing to buy the underlying asset in the
future, the buyer of the contract, is said to be long , and the party agreeing to sell the asset in the
future, the seller of the contract, is said to be short . The terminology reflects the expectations of
the parties the buyer hopes the asset price is going to increase, while the seller hopes for a

Margin
To minimize credit risk to the exchange, traders must post a margin or a performance bond,
typically 5% 15% of the contract s value.
To minimize counterparty risk to traders, trades executed on regulated futures exchanges are
guaranteed by a clearing house. The clearing house becomes the buyer to each seller, and the seller
to each buyer, so that in the event of a counterparty default the clearer assumes the risk of loss. This
enables traders to transact without performing due diligence on their counterparty.
Margin requirements are waived or reduced in some cases for hedgers who have physical
ownership of the covered commodity or spread traders who have offsetting contracts balancing the
position.
Clearing margin are financial safeguards to ensure that companies or corporations perform on their

that individual buyers and sellers of futures and options contracts are required to deposit with

Media s Influence On The Perception Of Beauty
Is it possible to define beauty? The answer is seemingly yes, though agreement on said
definition(s) is an entirely different matter. Some concepts have the luxury of general consensus.
Of course, where there is consensus on definition, there will be debate on operationalization.
Nothing remains unchallenged. Beauty, however, is in a class of the transient, the ineffable, and
the ephemeral. The word is just a word, but the identity ascribed to it is of the mysterious. So
how does one begin to define beauty if such an act is possible? Very simply, we look at people,
places and things through a personal lens, which consists of social institutions, norms and values.
In thinking about this concept in relation to media, I am curious if media s influence on the
perception of beauty acts as a similar agenda setting function or if it is simply another mediated
factor in the perceptions of beauty. Do people think about beauty based on standards of the media,
or do we regard them alongside an absolute perception of beauty? Scientists have noted that beauty
is a biologically influenced phenomenon. But influence is the operative word. Beauty is also
societally influenced. Society includes individuals, institutions and the media, among other things.
One could easily relate this debate to nature vs. nurture. Is it biology or environment? Of course, it
is both. Humans are not just made up of DNA. We are moral and cultural creatures. Discussing the
primacy of such factors keeps the debate

Eugenides use of modern day morals, as his attempt to revive ethics in our society. The analysis

Shostak acknowledges Eugenides writing as a call for change within the modern era. Shostak
details the Lisbon Girls and their suicides as a great metaphor: representing what is wrong with the
country , being the novel s ultimate scapegoat [...] predicting the forthcoming decadence , or
suicide to reflect the natural deaths due to industrialization (207). Shostak sees many reasons for
Eugenides writing about the tragic death of young girls. Primarily, Eugenides is depicting the
younger generation as morally corrupted. Shostak argues Eugenides writes with a greater purpose
than to sadden his audience with horrible stories. Shostak argues Eugenides writes with the
purpose to educate his reader: to send morally equipped readers to face a corrupted world armed
with opinions and an understanding of tragedy. The Virgin Suicides raises awareness of teen
suicide. Eugenides begins many conversations with his works, particularly this dark love story, with
underlying notions to our disappointing world.

The decline in global wine consumption from 1980 to 2000 is the consequence of global population

For example, total alcohol consumption in Europe has declined over the past few decades while

The Impact of the Industrial Revolution on Western Society
The Industrial Revolution had a significant impact on Western society and the effects were
numerous and mainly positive. The Industrial Revolution began in England in the 1790 s and
spread throughout Europe and eventually to America. The extensive effects of the Industrial
Revolution influenced almost every aspect of daily life and human society in some way. During
this time period, widespread transportation such as railroads became available and important for
the movement of goods and people. Also, new social reforms came about, dealing with critical
issues including that of child labor.
In addition, the effects of the revolution resulted in a great improvement in living standards for
many people. Although the positive affects of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, set the minimum age for a child to legally work at 9 and stated that children 9 13
were not allowed to work for more than twelve hours a day. The act also set guidelines as to what
children were permitted to do while working. The Mines Act of 1842 set the regulation that no
female or boy under ten years of age was to be employed underground in the mines. The factory
acts allowed for a more modern day pattern of work in which men were expecting to be the main
wage earners. The Industrial Revolution increased the awareness of human rights of women and
children, and therefore, accelerated the process of equality in society.
An additional effect of the Industrial Revolution on Western society was the improvement in
living standards for people. The invention of the steam engine, run by coal, allowed factories to
be located in cities and no longer by water. This resulted in people flocking to these densely
populated cities for job opportunities and in turn, eventually led to bad living conditions for many
of the inhabitants. It was believed filthy living conditions in cities were a chief cause of epidemic
diseases such as cholera. In addition, overcrowded, disease ridden slums were viewed as dangerous
to physical health, moral health, and political

The Causes Of Happiness And Happiness
Money. It can determine a lot of things for people; social ranking, how others think of you, and
even happiness. Many people think that when you have money you also have happiness. Yes
that can be true, but just how true is it? Money can be the cause of happiness and also sadness,
needless to say money have a huge impact on every single person. Everyone wants money I
think it s safe to say, everyone wants to feel stable. Yes its great to have money; you can do more
things, travel more, and make family and friends happy with gifts you could buy them. But after
all the toys and material things are gone can you say that you re happy, or that something s missing
still? When you go out to a fancy restaurant what do you remember most, the people you take or
the meal you just consumed? Research shows experiences provide more happinessthan material
goods in part, because experiences are more likely to make us feel connected to others (Mandi
Woodruff 5 Reasons Why Money Isn t Making You Happy ). People make connections that last
with their personality, not their money. This has the same concept as growing up in a wealthy
family. Some kids grow up never really having a relationship with their parents because all they
wantto do is work to make more money. People crave the love and attention from someone more
than they want money. We as humans like to feel secure in a lot of different aspects in our lives,
and if we aren t being loved, that could be the worst of it all. Money

The Benefits Of Technology On Nursing
Nursing continues to evolve as technology keeps on advancing. The benefits of technology on
nursing include electronic health records, workstation on wheels (W.O.W.) and automated
dispensing machines. These may allow for a safer work environment and control of medication.
However, the emphasis of technological skills may be inhibited a nurses caring attitude. It is vital
for a nurse to acquire emotional intelligence, social intelligence, a sense of presence and reflection
in his practice. This allows for a nurse to act according to a patient situation, promotes effective
communication and allows for a nurse to improve his caring.
Nursing may be seen as interchangeable with caring. The emphasis on patient centered care is
advocated but may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Social intelligence may include not using medical jargon when speaking with a patient or their
family because more than likely they will not understand what the nurse is saying. A nurse needs to
assess the situation, show empathy, work as team and communicate effectively It is important for a
nurse to continuously reflect on emotional and social intelligence.
Additionally, another obstacle in nursing is the issue of presence. A nurse may get caught up in
having an attitude of getting the job done because of lack of time (Melnechenko, 2003). However,
a patient can sense if a nurse is present or not. Presence is not only knowing and offering self as a
nurse but also, physically being present in the moment and aiding a patient. Presence does not
require more time, rather it is a willingness to focus on really being there and being involved
when with another. (Pettigrew, p. 305, 1990) A nurse does not have to spend extra time with a
patient to be fully focused, caring and present. However, for a patient this presence is evident in a
nurse s care and can hinder the attitude and communication of a patient. On the other hand, when a
nurse is present he will be more attentive to the patient s situation and feelings allowing for better
care from the nurse.
Moreover, because of lack of time a nurse may sense a detachment from patients, and may feel like
he is not making a difference for a patient. Reflection is important in continuing to care for patients.

Roger Chillingworth Scarlet Letter Quotes
Scarlet Letter is a popular Anti Transcendentalist novel written by Nathaniel Hawthorne in 1850.
The antagonist of the Scarlet Letter, Roger Chillingworth, pursues revenge and vengeance upon
the man who stole his wife. Roger is torn apart by his obsession with revenge and hatred, and is
seen as the false hero of the Scarlet Letter. Chillingworth is ultimately mentally destroyed
throughout the novel. Roger Chillingworth s appearance displays his dark, revengeful character.
When Roger is introduced, the reader can use sagacity to identify that Chillingworth is an evil, dark
character. An early description of Chillingworth follows: Again, at the first instant of perceiving
that thin visage, and the slight deformity of the figure. (Hawthorn 8) Chillingworth s deformity

(Hawthorne 11) When Chillingworth says he s going to deal with his soul, Chillingworth suggests
that he s going to seek his revenge upon him. Later in the chapter, we see Chillingworth get even

The Breakfast Club By John Hughes
The Breakfast Club
Noah Lane
Ivy Tech Community College
Abstract This paper is why everyone should watch The Breakfast Club. It tells a story of four
teenagers battling with rebellion, drama, and love. Most critics will argue that it is not realistic,
and no teenager is like that. However, The Breakfast Club written by John Hughes made teens
everywhere relate to at least one of these characters. This movie is a dramatic comedy that will
make someone laugh, cry, and angry all brought together in one amazing film.
The Breakfast Club The Breakfast Club, starring Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, and many other great
actors is a fantastic teen comedy. This movie had great humor along with heart warming love. It
is almost impossible to name one bad thing about this movie. The Breakfast Club is jammed
packed full of comedy, drama, and rebellion. These four high school students represent every
cliche in the 1980s school life. As typical as this may sound for a teen comedy the plot takes a
twist. This movie is not the usual teen comedy in any way. These four students will soon realize
that they each have something in common. Each of the kids parents don t treat them fairly or don t
even notice them. It is ironic at first, because they think that they have figure each person out and
they know everything about them. But soon into the movie they quickly realize they are all too
similar. This movie takes place in a high school in Shermer, Illinois.

Mr. Kidder would point out the conflict of interest from the truck driver who is risking his or her
life to help victims from war who can not necessary go out and get Emergency supplies to treat
their people. For example, war torn victims are in the line of fire or afraid of going out because
of being questioned by one s mere presence and higher authority that intimidates people. Along
with this the driver pays the tolls to use the roads or bridges even though; the SafeZone Relief
Company has a strict no bribes policy that says it s the law in U.S and you must follow it! The
moral issue here is you are going against a policy that was passed to not have things like happen.

Safety In Sports-Related Head Injuries
Every year in the United States, there are an estimated 300,000 sports related concussions
(Cuncussions, 2015). Head related injuries have serious consequences in violent contact sports.
Players can have injuries that result in lifelong brain trauma, such as post concussion syndrome.
There is a large amount of controversy surrounding safety in contact sports. In the essay Brain

Cassius as Tragic Hero in Julius Caesar Essay
Cassius as Tragic Hero in Julius Caesar
William Shakespeare wrote Julius Caesar around 1599. The role of the `tragic hero is extremely
important as many of the characters in Julius Caesar exemplify the `tragic hero qualities. Marcus
Brutus, and Julius Caesar, display all the qualities of the `tragic hero : they are great men, with
character flaws, and as a result of a mistake in decision making many people suffer. In Cassius one
can see these same qualities. Cassius can be seen as another tragic hero in Shakespeare s Julius
Caesar.
Cassius is a talented general, and does not like the fact that Caesar has become `god like in the
Roman people s minds (see above quote Act I, Scene ii). Cassius can be seen as a ... Show more

However, this ultimate answer goes horribly wrong, for it strays from the ideal vision he held: in
the end war erupts and the people end up being no better off than they were under Caesar s rule,
one could even say worse off. Looking at what diverged Cassius ideal vision of Rome we see
Marcus Brutus.
The qualities a tragic hero, in Shakespeare s plays, normally displays consists of the hero falling
from a place of glory, or rank, or happiness. We are astounded by the extent to which they fall, or
allow themselves to stoop. The resulting catastrophe from the hero s mistake is of monumental
proportions. With the discussed play Julius Caesar, Cassius exhibits Jealousy, Rashness, and
Impulsive behaviour. Cassius makes mistakes, each with a disastrous effect.
The play Julius Caesar may be considered a failure as a tragedy: although many characters display
tragic hero properties, the play does not.

Bisexuality Erasure
Bisexuality Erasure
Saige Brey
Aug 15, 2015 When you hear the term bisexual , what comes to mind? For some it s what they
identify with in the LGBTQIA+, for others it s a confusing and broad term that somewhat covers
their sexuality, and for others it just seems like a foreign and strange idea. As a bisexual, I ve
heard the question, Well which gender do you prefer more? several times. My answer to that is
usually along the lines of neither , which leads to some confused looks or even some of disbelief.
To start, bisexuality is not a Well, you re either straight or gay! Pick one! . Bisexuality is within

For example, pansexuality is the attraction to all genders (not just male and female), and
polysexuality is the attraction to some (not all) genders. A plethora of people identify as all three
of these genders, and yes they are real, and some do have preferences, others do not.
Basically, bisexuality erasure is a becoming a prevalent problem in the LGBTQIA+ community,
as well as the straight community. I ve had people tell me that bisexuals are just pretending, and
then there s the ever present rumor that bisexual people are just in it for the sex. I m here to say
that s not true. A bisexual person can like two, many, or all genders, and it has literally nothing to
do with sex or the amount of sex that person has.
However, some people within the LGBTQIA+ community feel like bisexuals are the most
privileged of the sexualities, because they can just identify as straight if they felt like it (an actual
person has said this to me before), and haven t felt the homophobia and hostility faced towards the
community. But we have. Bisexuals may not encounter as much homophobia and hostility, but we
still get the constant, Which do you prefer more, boys or girls? and the Well you have to like one

archaic humans, have been roaming the Earth for about 17,000 years. Over the last fifty years,
human population grew faster than it has ever before. In the 1960s, the world populationwas at
about 3 billion people, increasing to an estimate of 6 billion people by 1999. The expected growth
of world population from 6 billion people in 1999 is about 9 billion people by 2044, causing the
world to become overpopulated. The word population causes many different reactions and thoughts.
For example, it stimulates anger because of irresponsible procreation, insufficient funding for birth
control methods, and religion for being against contraception and abortion. The reason that anger is
one of the main reactions is that many are aware of how population growthcan damage the Earth
and affect the future. To reduce the population growth rates, there should be a worldwide, two
child policy for every couple during the process of establishing basic education because research
has shown the positive effects of China s one child policy, how Earth s resources are decreasing,
and how overpopulationhas negatively affected the environment. By establishing a two child policy
for every couple, there could be many positive results, such as the results that came from China s
one child policy. According

Honey Beehive Research Paper
Research on the behavior of bees oddly resembles that of humans. Some worker bees lay their
own eggs, a function usually reserved only for the queen. These worker laid eggs are usually
eaten so the social order of the hive does not get disrupted (Luntz, pg.1) One hive examined
showed that worker bees were successful in laying and producing eggs, and also protecting them in
areas the queen was excluded (Luntz, pg.1). This works as an advantage by furthering generation
when they are endangered, but also a disadvantage to the world, because bees are busy reproducing,
when they should be pollinating the Earth (Luntz, pg. 1). Genetically altering the beehive, is
needed to maintain a healthy genome and successful hive. The honeybee genome was finally

Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs
Throughout human history people have sought to better themselves and ascend to higher levels
beyond what others thought possible. As many might say, life is more than just surviving, it is
about doing the things one dreams of, learning new things, mastering new skills, and being with the
people that one enjoys being with. On the contrary, not all people get to do any of those things. It
seems that the ultimate goal is self actualization and life fulfillment, yet why do people never seem
to reach that point?
Humanistic psychology is a value orientation that holds a hopeful, constructive view of human
beings and of their substantial capacity to be self determining (AHP). It focuses on the self,
experiences, and motivation systems unrelated to rewards or unconscious desires (McLeod,
Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs). Abraham Maslow, one of the leading psychologists in humanistic
psychology, conceived the idea of the hierarchy of needs that revealed what motivates people to do
the things that they do. Similarly, Carl Rodgers later added that for a person to grow , they need an
environment that provides them with genuineness, acceptance, and empathy (McLeod, Carl
Rogers). In Maslow s hierarchy of needs one cannot get to the top without first starting from the
bottom and working upwards through each level. As can be seen in the diagram on page 2, from
the bottom up Maslow states that physiological needs must be met, then safety, love, esteem, and
self actualization. The key is

Video Gaming
As a concerned parent, one would easily feel coaxed to venture into analyzing every aspect of
the child s welfare from a day to day perspective. There is a common concern over what the kids
play around with as well as the impacts created upon the receiver. Similarly, the use of video
gaming presents a common challenge as to whether the games are of benefit or not in the
educational system. Video gaming involves the use of computers and other technology devices to
access a variety of games in the format of videos. The gaming hypothesizes to offer entertainment
and educational information, especially, in cases where the game covers a specific topic in the
contemporary society (Squire, K. 2013). However, the current situation in the industry presents a
prospective possibility of the video gaming posing a threat to the educational development. Video
gaming may support the cognitive development of children and nurture the social and interpersonal
traits.
Video sports date back to the early stages of the 1970s. The first video game finds its place in the
year 1940 during the World s Fair exhibition by the Westinghouse. The video gaming used to be a
form of a computer system that portrayed a simple machine with a game plan. In the match, the
players competed on avoiding the process of picking the last matchstick within the game period.
However, after the first program,

Fashion Admission Essay
I have always been interested in fashion in a creative way in not just my life, but fashion has
also impacted my academic journey. From an early age, I knew belonged in and wanted to be a
part of the world of fashion, to not only build a life around Fashion but to make a career for myself
in the Fashion Industry.
This love for fashion began with me visually examining the red carpets of award shows and being
infatuated with the ladies long gowns and the vibrant colors of their dresses. To styling my Barbie
dolls and putting on fashion shows with the looks I had created with them. This creative intellect
continued to grow with me throughout my education. Starting in elementary school, I always
enjoyed Art class. Entering high school, I was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At Victoria s Secret, I was promoted to head of the beauty department and been trained on how
to apply makeup for customers for private events we held after hours the store. Because of this
experience, I became quite skilled at doing makeup and was even doing makeup for customers
and employees outside of work. Wanting to return to school and enjoying the processes of
makeup, I choose to enroll in cosmetology school. Starting cosmetology school, I really enjoyed
my time there and appreciated all the experiences I got to be a part of everything from fashion
shows to assisting with school occasions and cutting client s hair and doing their makeup. At the
same time, I felt as though something was lacking. During a week where we concentrated on
studying the historical background of hair related to fashion, I realized this wasn t what I was
supposed to be doing this with my life. At this same time Victoria s Secret visual merchandising
manager had come to visit my store over a year s period throughout his visits, he saw how
passionate I was towards Fashion. Each time he visited he complimented me on how great I was at
visual merchandising and asked me repeatedly why I wasn t going to school for fashion. After
many conversations I had with him I knew for sure I didn t belong in cosmetology school and
wanted to return to Austin Community College. During a

There are a lot dangerous gangs out there in the world. Some may be even closer than you think,
for instance in your children schools, their playgrounds and even in some after school church
groups. So everyone should take a part in trying to stop gang violence before it gets to be too late.
In this paper it will be explaining, the most dangerous gangs, and interview and most importantly
how to stop gangviolence to make a better place for our future. In the United States, the top most
wanted gang is the Ms13, a very commonly well known gang. This gang is not just some want to
be thug gang in some guy s basement, trying to act all big and bad when they re not. This is a
very well organized and well thought out gang. They are known for being a part of selling drugs,
human trafficking, murder, contract killing, extortion and kidnapping. Their territory would be
considered Central America and the United States. Their exact location is not certain, that is part of
what they do, stay unknown and it s easier to do business like that. About 70,000 in the United
States are members of the MS13. Something that you may have heard of them would be the
kidnapping of the son of the Honduras president. (gangs.umd.edu) The second most wanted gang in

Essay On Women In The Great Gatsby
Throughout literature women are often displayed as idealized characters. Women in the eyes of
society are plagued with the stereotype of being kind, nurturing, and tender individuals while men
are established as ambitious, assertive, and tough. However, when the time comes for women to
possess the qualities of men and men of women, a turnaround of events can occur. Women were the
individuals that then shape the males into their ending personna. Shakespeare s Macbeth, George
Orwell s Nineteen Eighty Four, and F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby demonstrated the
reversal of gender roles through portraying women as the instigator of the male character s ultimate
demise. In particular, Macbeth s women are some of the most famous females... Show more content

Throughout the novel, the reader is constantly wondering who exactly Gatsby is and the
mystery as to how he made his riches. It is later learned that he gained his money dishonestly.
Gatsby did this with the purpose of gaining the woman he loved since she wanted to live a
wealthy life. Daisy s greed drove Gatsby into having the ambition of becoming rich. Daisy had
even chosen Tom Buchanan to marry to live a wealthy life regardless of how poorly treated she
was by him. She picked him over Gatsby since Gatsby was not rich at the time they met. She
even exaggerates her greed by killing Myrtle and uses Tom to blame Gatsby to keep her life of
wealth. Nick says They were careless people, Tom and Daisy they smashed up things and
creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was
that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made, (Fitzgerald 136
145). Gatsby admits to the murder she committed and in the end is killed by Winston, the husband
of Myrtle. Their strive for money, specifically Daisy, lead to the death of Gatsby, a man that
simply wanted to be with his love by any means necessary, yet fails in the

Research Paper On Swarm Robotics
AN EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ON MULTI ROBOT FOARGING USING SWARMS FOR E
WASTE COLLECTION
1.INTRODUCTION:
Classical robots are usually single complex pieces of electromechanical hardware designed to
perform a task. They are typically expensive, specialized, and complicated. An alternate approach is
to use a swarm composed of a large number of very simple robots that work together, rather than a
single highly capable robot. In this approach, the strength of the system comes not from the
complexity and power of a piece of hardware, but from the cooperation of a large number of
individuals. As the cost of simple robotic components goes down and availability goes up, this
approach becomes increasingly feasible. It is currently possible, for example, ... Show more content

For successful operation they need appropriate communication strategies that should be
dynamically adaptable to possibly changing environmental requirements. A promising way to
achieve this is through the use of an evolutionary robotics (ER) approach, i.e., using evolutionary
algorithms to evolve the robots controllers. Swarm Robotics is a new approach to the
coordination of multi robot systems which consist of large numbers of usually, but not necessarily,
simple physical robots. It is an interesting alternative to classical approaches to robotics because of
some properties of problem solving by social animals, which is flexible, robust, decentralized and
self organized.

  • 2. The Pros and Cons of Cell Phones Essay The effects of technology on society will always be a double edged sword. The debate is a never ending one, in which both sides have valid and compelling arguments. The Industrial Revolution reduced manual labor in the long run, but had negative consequences such as child labor and sweatshop conditions. Nuclear Power reduces the cost of producing energy, but raises serious environmental issues like pollution and radiation. In this day in age refusing to assimilate to at least some form of modern living is simply not an option. One invention causing controversy today that has yet to cease being alter, modified, and improved since its debut is the ever present cell phone. Even as I sit here typing this paper, my own... The issue of driving while talking on a cell phone has become serious enough that five states have passed laws prohibiting this type of act and making it a primary offense to do so. Not only are drivers talking behind the wheel, but many have admitted to engaging in even more potentially dangerous behavior with their phones such as text messaging and surfing the internet. A distracted driver is a dangerous one. If you are focused on a conversation and your eyes are not on the road, drivers cannot be expected to make a quick and safe decision should the need for one arise. The behavior of a driver while using a cell phone has been compared to that of one driving while under the influence. Studies have shown that those who use a cell phone while driving are four times more likely to be involved in a crash than those who don t. On the flip side, it is very reassuring to know as you are driving down the highway that if you were to get a flat tire or your engine were to overheat you could flip open that gadget in the cup holder next to you and have a plan b on the way. Cell phones have also been used to make calls in more serious life and death situations where immediate help is needed. Obviously, having a cell phone in your car within reach is much better when the seconds count than finding the nearest land line. Who would have ever thought that God would have asked his obedient and faithful prophet Hosea to go and take a prostitute to be his wife? There is a common knowledge that God can use anything for His glory. Therefore, as odd as Hosea and Gomer s story is, it is not exempt from glorifying God. God s loveis unfailing and unconditional for all of humanity and that was proven in and through the love story of Hosea and Gomer. In this paper, I will cover God s peculiar instructions for Hosea, Hosea and Gomer s story, Hosea s heartbreak, the state of Israel during this time, and God s unfailing love for Israel. God s Peculiar Instructions for Hosea In Hosea 1:2, God gives Hosea instructions to go out and marry an adulterous wife and have children of unfaithfulness. God told Hosea to do this because Israel is guilty of the vilest adultery in departing from the Lord. In the next verse, Hosea married Gomer, and Gomer had three children back to back and God told Hosea to name them names that represented His broken relationship with Israel (Hosea 1:4 8). • 15. Media s Influence On The Perception Of Beauty Is it possible to define beauty? The answer is seemingly yes, though agreement on said definition(s) is an entirely different matter. Some concepts have the luxury of general consensus. Of course, where there is consensus on definition, there will be debate on operationalization. Nothing remains unchallenged. Beauty, however, is in a class of the transient, the ineffable, and the ephemeral. The word is just a word, but the identity ascribed to it is of the mysterious. So how does one begin to define beauty if such an act is possible? Very simply, we look at people, places and things through a personal lens, which consists of social institutions, norms and values. In thinking about this concept in relation to media, I am curious if media s influence on the perception of beauty acts as a similar agenda setting function or if it is simply another mediated factor in the perceptions of beauty. Do people think about beauty based on standards of the media, or do we regard them alongside an absolute perception of beauty? Scientists have noted that beauty is a biologically influenced phenomenon. But influence is the operative word. Beauty is also societally influenced. Society includes individuals, institutions and the media, among other things. One could easily relate this debate to nature vs. nurture. Is it biology or environment? Of course, it is both. As many might say, life is more than just surviving, it is about doing the things one dreams of, learning new things, mastering new skills, and being with the people that one enjoys being with. On the contrary, not all people get to do any of those things. It seems that the ultimate goal is self actualization and life fulfillment, yet why do people never seem to reach that point? Humanistic psychology is a value orientation that holds a hopeful, constructive view of human beings and of their substantial capacity to be self determining (AHP). It focuses on the self, experiences, and motivation systems unrelated to rewards or unconscious desires (McLeod, Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs). Abraham Maslow, one of the leading psychologists in humanistic psychology, conceived the idea of the hierarchy of needs that revealed what motivates people to do the things that they do. Similarly, Carl Rodgers later added that for a person to grow , they need an environment that provides them with genuineness, acceptance, and empathy (McLeod, Carl Rogers). In Maslow s hierarchy of needs one cannot get to the top without first starting from the bottom and working upwards through each level. Starting cosmetology school, I really enjoyed my time there and appreciated all the experiences I got to be a part of everything from fashion shows to assisting with school occasions and cutting client s hair and doing their makeup. At the same time, I felt as though something was lacking. During a week where we concentrated on studying the historical background of hair related to fashion, I realized this wasn t what I was supposed to be doing this with my life. At this same time Victoria s Secret visual merchandising manager had come to visit my store over a year s period throughout his visits, he saw how passionate I was towards Fashion. Each time he visited he complimented me on how great I was at visual merchandising and asked me repeatedly why I wasn t going to school for fashion. After many conversations I had with him I knew for sure I didn t belong in cosmetology school and wanted to return to Austin Community College. During a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Essay On Women In The Great Gatsby Throughout literature women are often displayed as idealized characters. Women in the eyes of society are plagued with the stereotype of being kind, nurturing, and tender individuals while men are established as ambitious, assertive, and tough. However, when the time comes for women to possess the qualities of men and men of women, a turnaround of events can occur. Women were the individuals that then shape the males into their ending personna. Shakespeare s Macbeth, George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty Four, and F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby demonstrated the reversal of gender roles through portraying women as the instigator of the male character s ultimate demise. • 48. Research Paper On Swarm Robotics AN EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ON MULTI ROBOT FOARGING USING SWARMS FOR E WASTE COLLECTION 1.INTRODUCTION: Classical robots are usually single complex pieces of electromechanical hardware designed to perform a task. They are typically expensive, specialized, and complicated. An alternate approach is to use a swarm composed of a large number of very simple robots that work together, rather than a single highly capable robot. In this approach, the strength of the system comes not from the complexity and power of a piece of hardware, but from the cooperation of a large number of individuals. As the cost of simple robotic components goes down and availability goes up, this approach becomes increasingly feasible. It is currently possible, for example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For successful operation they need appropriate communication strategies that should be dynamically adaptable to possibly changing environmental requirements. A promising way to achieve this is through the use of an evolutionary robotics (ER) approach, i.e., using evolutionary algorithms to evolve the robots controllers. Swarm Robotics is a new approach to the coordination of multi robot systems which consist of large numbers of usually, but not necessarily, simple physical robots. It is an interesting alternative to classical approaches to robotics because of some properties of problem solving by social animals, which is flexible, robust, decentralized and self organized. 6.
