 “An excerpt or series of excerpts from a
movie or program used to advertise it in
advance; a preview.”
 They show a small clip of certain aspects of
the movie such as key themes and ideas that
the movie portrays.
 Trailers show the rough storyline and genre of
the film which encourages audiences to
watch the film when it comes out if they like
the look of the film.
 They also show the actors and directors of
the film which also could contribute as a
factor to why someone would pay to watch
the movie.
 Marketing campaigns may use a film’s genre to gain
our interest, playing on elements that are familiar to
an audience. But at the same time, a marketing
campaign must also show us how a new film is
different to others in the same genre: this is known as
the USP (unique selling point) of the film.
 The USP is what separates one film title from another
released at a similar time or within the same genre.
The USP could be many things, for example:
 the innovative use of special effects
 an unusual mix of genres
 a popular star
 Trailers are f0r any potential audience of the
film. It is essentially a teaser of what it is to
come in the full movie.
 Trailers are for any movie watchers who are
looking f0r new up and coming films to watch
when they are released in the future.
 Trailers are posted on social media sights
such asYoutube or Facebook.This way they
are easy to watch and for anyone to find also
anyone looking for a certain genre or actor
online can be lead t0 a movie trailer through
websites promoting the film or genre.
 They are also shown at the cinema before
you watch a full movie of a similar genre or
target audience.
 Another place trailer are shown is onTV.
 Teaser trailers can be released up to a year before the
actual film release these are usually between 30-60
seconds whereas the full trailer will be released after
the teaser one generally up to 6 months before actual
release these are about 2-3 minutes long.
 Most trailers are produced at the same time as the
film is being edited.The timing of a trailer campaign is
important: it must be shown far enough in advance to
generate excitement about the film’s release, but not
so early that people forget about the film before it
even comes out.

But at the same time, a marketing campaign must also show us how a new film is different to others in the same genre: this is known as the USP (unique selling point) of the film.  The USP is what separates one film title from another released at a similar time or within the same genre. The USP could be many things, for example:  the innovative use of special effects  an unusual mix of genres  a popular star
  • 5.  Trailers are f0r any potential audience of the film. It is essentially a teaser of what it is to come in the full movie.  Trailers are for any movie watchers who are looking f0r new up and coming films to watch when they are released in the future.
  • 6.  Trailers are posted on social media sights such asYoutube or Facebook.This way they are easy to watch and for anyone to find also anyone looking for a certain genre or actor online can be lead t0 a movie trailer through websites promoting the film or genre.  They are also shown at the cinema before you watch a full movie of a similar genre or target audience.  Another place trailer are shown is onTV.
  • 7.  Teaser trailers can be released up to a year before the actual film release these are usually between 30-60 seconds whereas the full trailer will be released after the teaser one generally up to 6 months before actual release these are about 2-3 minutes long.  Most trailers are produced at the same time as the film is being edited.The timing of a trailer campaign is important: it must be shown far enough in advance to generate excitement about the film’s release, but not so early that people forget about the film before it even comes out.
