Gospel Singer Ringtone Case
Just days after dropping a case against a man who stole from him, gospel singer Ringtone, is on the
spot again for allegedly grabbing a house in Runda.
The singer whose real name is Alex Apoko is accused of attempting to kick out a family that lives in
the house which reportedly belongs to a deceased foreigner.
The local family claims to have been living in the house for more than 35 years and the Pamela hit
maker claims to have been paying rent and living in the house for the past two years.
According to NTV, the family lawyer Jimmy Sausi said his client has been living in the house for the
past 35 years without any complaint and Ringtone attempted to kick out the family without following
due process.
In his defence, Ringtone said the incident

Nursing Working Environment
There are many significant reason why there have been numerous issues or complaints in the field of
nursing over the past several years. The issue that has been more common over the years is what I
would considered to be the most important issue that nurses have to put up with on a regular bases is
what effects does the working environment have on nurses that work in the environment they either
have to conform to or find a way to put a stop to the issues the working environment has caused.
There are positive and negative aspects that effect the working environment in the nursing field,
because of the many things that coincide with what goes on in the working environment that is not
seen by non staff members. Among these complaints have been ... Show more content on

Structural empowerment Purdy et al. state is the notion that removes conditions that foster dependence
and powerlessness within an organization that will result in a positive employee behavior and improve
performance (Effects of work environments on nurse and patient outcomes) which would cause a
better working environment to work in. That being said I agree that being able to feel as you have
power as a nurse to be able to be able to say things and control a little of how you work makes a nurse
feel great about themselves as if they don t just have to watch and write down all that the patient does
or what the doctor say, it is like they actually have a voice in the matter. Psychological empowerment
is defined as the psychological state employees must experience for empowering interventions to be
successful (Smith Lesley, Andrusyszyn and Laschinger Effects of workplace incivility and
empowerment on newly graduated nurses_ organizational commitment). I would have to agree
because if you have a good mind set about things even if it the worst thing in the world it will not
seem like it is. Having a good mind set conquers all things. Smith et al. say that the empowering
interventions are as followed meaning, confidence, autonomy and impact (Smith, Andrusyszyn and
Laschinger Effects of workplace incivility and empowerment on newly graduated nurses_
organizational commitment). It is so true the mind if you really think of it is made up of these things,
and these are the things that get most people through the day. For example having confidence in your
work will make you feel as if you can do anything at work as long as it is legal and you are able to do.
I would say that they are on to something and that something would be that if you have empowering
employees the nurses work environment would not be so difficult to do with and there would be a
more nurses willing to work and the work environment would become like home

System And Surroundings Lab Report
Intro ERT
Chemical changes occur when molecules in the reactants break and form new compounds called the
products. The separation of the bonds in the reactants require a certain amount of energy whereas
energy is released when products are formed. There are two components where a physical or chemical
change takes place. These are the system and surroundings.
System and Surroundings
The system is the site of the chemical reaction and the surrounding is the entire universe around it.
The first law of thermodynamics states that energy cannot be crated or destroyed although one form of
energy can be converted to the other form and vice versa . (Dinesh Books) Since energy cannot be
created by any means, it simply transfers between the system and surroundings. Furthermore, since

Firstly, 10 grams of the desired chemical was weighed out. This was then placed in a sandwich bag.
The sandwich bag was aimed to act as a calorimeter for two reasons. Firstly, a calorimeter would limit
heat and volume exchange between system and surroundings and also depict the scenario of a real ice
pack.
15,20 and 25 ml of water were measured into a smaller beaker.
The initial temperature of the water was recorded with a thermometer so a change in temperature
could be determined. This probe was then placed in the sandwich bag while sealed to observe the
temperature inside the assumed calorimeter.
Once both temperatures were recorded, the probe was carefully inserted into the sandwich bag. The
bag was then sealed except for a little space to pour the water.
The water was poured in through the gap and the bag was sealed immediately. The timer was started at
the time the water was poured in.
The independent variables were measured along with the time of the total reaction and noted down for
further observation and analysis.
The procedure was repeated with the different amounts of water and the different chemicals indicated

My Mother Never Worked By Bonnie Smith Yackel
In Bonnie Smith Yackel s essay My Mother Never Worked she passionately defends her mother after
Social Security refuses to grant her death benefit check. Yackel does not realize that Social Security
fairly distributes benefits to contributing Americans. Social Security was reasonable to not granting
benefits to a woman who never contributed as a wage earner. It would not be fair if benefits were
granted to a fraud who never paid wage taxes compared to wage earners who do. Americans who
abuse Social Security benefits by committing fraud is unethical and not to mention illegal. Americans
that are in desperate need for Social Security benefits require it far more than frauds. By eliminating
fraud the government can properly grant social benefits to hard working Americans. Social Security
benefits should be permitted to Americans that work and provide back to their country or they are
disabled. Hard working citizens that pay their duties will receive back from benefits, including
employees that are qualified as disabled. Benefits should not be granted to any citizen that makes no
contribution to their country such as, tax deductions from their wages. Furthermore, Social Security
needs to reach out to the majority which is the poverty stricken. By informing impecunious people and
immigrants of Social Security it could save them from the poverty they suffer from. Even though,
Social Security relieves some citizens from a financial burden there are still many improvements to be

Multinational Corporations And Its Effect On The Chinese...
Introduction:
China, indeed, was successful in pursuing foreigners to invest in their country; thus the rise of joint
owned ventures and multinational corporations or MNCs. Soon enough, China s business industry was
dominated mostly by multinational corporations. Through the establishment of MNCs, a lot of
employment were created. Alongside MNCs however, are pressing controversial issues involving
violation of human rights, labor code, and country policies as well as its involvement in environmental
degradation.
Multinational corporations impact the environment of China by exploiting its legal loopholes in their
regulations. Chinese enforcement of their laws is weak. Although some corporations have made
commitments to high standards and better practices, almost every multinational corporations still
environmental practices because environmental lawsuits are not only cheap but also difficult, if not
impossible, to file in China. As a result, the Chinese government have no choice but to allow MNCs to
manage and regulate themselves in the processing and removal of their waste.
This paper argues that multinational corporations in China despite their huge contributions in
improving the Chinese economy and boosting its standing in the global market, have given less
consideration to environmental policies. It also argues that China s immense desire for economic
growth made the country disregardful in enforcing its policies in the environmental scale. Lastly, the
paper argues that

Ethics Paper On Food Ethics
Ethics Paper Do we have an obligation to take better care of ourselves by making changes in the way
we eat and/or buy and consume food? I feel that everyone has a duty strive to be the best them they
can be every day. That includes the foods we eat, the physical training, the mental counseling and also
the consumption of media in society. We only have one body, so why destroy it? We can easily change
simple eating habits in our everyday lives to strengthen our chances of a long, healthy life. For
example, many teens favorite and very accessible snack after school would be Flamin Hot Cheetos.

Sleep Figurative Language
The definition for rest is to stop being active for a period of time in order to relax and get back your
strength, or to cause someone or something to stop doing an activity in order to get back strength
(Cambridge). The definition for sleep is resting state in which the body is not active and the mind is
unconscious (Cambridge). Words have more than one meaning; in many poems rest may mean rest in
peace which means death. Another example of death is in the word sleep. In some areas in the bible,
sleep represents death. Words can be interpreted different forms using figurative language, imagery,
and symbolism. Figurative language is not meant to be interpreted literally, but is used to intensify the
work and please the readers imaginations. In line one in the poem it states, Where sunless rivers weep
, the sunless rivers means the darkness or night time. Christina Rossetti was a religious person who
used her faith in her writing. An example of this is Led by a single star (5), the star could represent the
star on top of the manger, leading people to the birth of Jesus. There are also similes, metaphors, and
repetition in the poem Dreamland . Through sleep, as through a veil/ She sees the sky look pale (13
14). In this stanza there is a simile word sleep , which represented a veil that covers the eyes but still

Guideness and hope. A star guided the three kings through Egypt to the manger where Jesus Christ

had occurred. This line is practically saying river of tears which could mean a recent death going on.
Then The purple land (20), symbolizes new life or a new beginning, Till joy shall overtake/ Her

Negotiation reflection journal
Rudolph Lama I played Chris Rudolph in this case, and did well in this negotiation by not only
focusing on the final price, but also on the extra agreement of letting Lama provided high quality work
to our company. When we started the negotiation, I suggested us to divide the total price into two
parts, the first one was Market Research fee, and the second one was the Lama Lee s charge. After
some initial discussion, I realized the Market Research fee was hard to negotiate, so I planed to put
most of my effort on Lama Lee s fee. My negotiation partner impressed me by setting the price at
$33,000, and made me think that he had to charge us at $33,000. This increased my expected level of
payment a lot. Before he gave the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the case debrief, I realized that all the arguments that my partner used to argue for a higher pay
were not come from the case materials, he basically made up all these information by himself. And I
admit that it was quite useful during this negotiation because I increased the salary I m willing to pay
based on his arguments. From my partner s argument, I realized that even in the real negotiation, you
may lack some back up data to support your arguments at sometime, and all you can do is to
rationalize your argument. It is not necessary to ask yourself to make up some fake data, but most
important, how can you convince others use your logical and powerful argument.
At the same time, I also realized that the negotiation partners are not always having the conflict
interests during the negotiation. In this case, for some of the issues, we actually have the same goals.
So baring this in mind, in the future negotiation case, I would first seek the common goals for both of
us first to create a win win situation.
Moms. Com Our team approached this negotiation case in a very efficient way. Each of us had a very
clearly job assignment. Two people took care of the calculation while the other two people were
responsible for the negotiation. Thus we quickly built up a model and provided several options to our

Coping with Anxiety
Literature review
In 2013, associate professor of psychology at the University of California, Kate Sweeny and her
researchers surveyed 230 law school graduates for a period of four months after taking their bar exam
in July 2013 ( J. Hoffman, 2015). The purpose of her research was to focus on the waiting period
during which the person is uncertain of the outcome of a life situation and how they manage any
anxiety that may occur during that time. The individuals that were surveyed in this descriptive
research used three different strategies when asked about how they tried to avoid anxiety while
waiting on their exam scores. The first group attempted to suppress their fears by trying to not pay
attention. The second group sought for silver linings. They tried to anticipate something good in a bad
outcome Dr. Sweeny explained. The third group used defensive pessimism.
At the end of Dr. Sweeny s research study what came up is that the people that were calmed down
during the waiting period were shattered and paralyzed by the bad news and if they got good news,
they were not impress by the results (Dr. Sweeny, 2015). The people who were not doing well during
the waiting period actually handled the news much better than the previous set of people. If they
received bad news then they were ready for it and had

What Is The Theme Of The Death Cure
The Death Cure
By James Dashner
James Smith Dashner is an American writer born on November 26, 1972 in Austell Georgia.
The Death Cure was published on October 11, 2011.
The story takes place in WICKED s headquarters and Denver.
The main conflict is WICKED. An organization of soldiers and scientist that are supposed to try to
find a cure to a disease called the Flare. A disease that makes you crazy and turns you into a cannibal.
WICKED used teenagers to experiment with, and now they want revenge.
Thomas is a teenage boy that is one of the subjects in an experiment conducted by a group of people
known as WICKED. When a disease, known as the Flare breaks out to the human population,
WICKED starts experimenting trying to find a cure. The Flare makes people go insane and become
cannibals, called cranks.

The Death Cure was written in third person point of view. James Dashner writes about the last
experiment that Thomas and his friends are going through, as well as how Thomas and his friends

The point of view that of The Death Cure in this book allows the reader to connect to each of the
characters. To feel with and make the readers care about what happens with the people involved in the
story.
I love how the book progressed fast. It was hard to put the book down because every chapter left me
with hints. There were always moments like fast paced action and heart breaking decisions. The thing
I liked the most about the book is the friendship and loyalty between Thomas, Minho and Newt. The
Death Cure built up to excitement in every chapter until the end. The ending got me disappointed

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Language
After getting a chance to watch the episode Hush of Buffy the Vampire Slayer it is clear understand
why this show was a hit amongst viewers. The episode made headlines because of how it used no
dialogue throughout to create a storyline that actually worked. It needed no background information to
understand the characters and their relationships with each other. The episode was praised because of
this. It was known as one of the best episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer considering it was
nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Cinematography

The cast uses gestures and writing implements to communicate with each other to come up with
solutions to destroy the monsters. This can come as a struggle for the cast or very beneficial to the
characters. For example, how Giles comforts Buffy and Willow but touching buffy shoulder and
giving willow a reassuring look. Shows how impact of small, kind gestures can still be beneficial.
However, it can also be misleading. When Buffy makes a gesture about staking the monster gets
misinterpreted, until she pulls a staking and repeats the gesture. This prove most beneficial when
Buffy and Riley work together to defeat the gentlemen . Riley and Buffy use their great fighting skills
to fight off the monsters. Although there was a misunderstanding the first time. Buffy is able to get
Riley to break the box of voices by just looking at it. This allowed for them to regain their voices.

Examples Of Illusion In A Streetcar Named Desire
A Streetcar Named Desire is a modern play which was written much ahead of it s times. The
protagonist Blanche Du Bois is moth like and incongruous to (the) setting . A moth and its delicate
nature give us a clue to the kind of person Blanche is. Blanche is a southern belle who has lost
everything a person would hold dear. She has lost her family home Belle Reve, lost her job as a school
teacher and has also lost her husband whom she found to be homosexual. Each loss seems to have
taken Blanche further away from reality and pushed her into a fantasy world. Illusion is probably her
means to cope with the reality that is too difficult to bear. She travels in a streetcar named Desire and

His oft repeated casual phrase so it goes is not his attempt to diminish the value of death but rather his
technique to block reality. Blanche similarly is overwhelmed by her past and so conveniently builds a
soothing tale to wipe away the reality that she is incapable of facing. In her illusionary world, she
believes she is still a teacher though in reality she was asked to leave the institution due to her affair
with her seventeen year old student. She is willing to admit, in a moment of clarity, that she would
turn to strangers to overcome her loneliness. In her attempt to cope with her crazy life she is willing to
turn to Mitch with the hope of marriage to regain the reputation she has lost. She is not willing to
accept that she is an old maid and an alcoholic. Though born in an upper class family, Blanche seems
to have fallen in the eyes of society due to her actions and her pennilessness. Her sanity, self image
and self esteem are shattered by Stanley and his animal behavior. With all avenues for a happy future
slammed in her face, Blanche is sent off to the mental asylum. This intensifies her insecurity and
totally pushes her over to her world of

The Scopes Trial And Its Impact On The American Education...
The Scopes Trial is a standout amongst the most well known trials in American history. The trial was a
lawful case in 1925 in which a substitute high school teacher, John Scopes, was charged with violating
Tennessee s Butler Act, which made it illegal to teach Darwinism in any state financed school. This
trial was a gathering between various polar opposites, for example, Fundamentalism and Modernism.
The clash between fundamentalism and modernism during the Scopes Trial had a significant impact
on the American education system. In America, in the 1920s, two significant cultural movements arose
that eventually clashed. A Christian fundamentalist movement arose in America and the
fundamentalist s goal during this time was to recover and publicly institutionalize old time religious
fundamental values. Fundamentalist believed in a literal interpretation of the Bible, and thus strongly
objected to the teachings of Charles Darwin, since his theory of evolution contradicted the origin of
man as found in the Bible. In the 1920s, the Christian fundamentalist began to gain political power
across America and started passing legislation banning the teaching of Darwinism in state funded
schools. At the same time cultural modernism was also rising in America. Modernist believes in a
secular government and their agenda was education, democratic reforms, and economic progress.
These two conflicting ideologies would inevitably clash, which occurred in the Scopes Trial of

Development of Marketing Strategy
Market: A market is any one of a variety of different systems, institutions, procedures, social relations
and infrastructures whereby businesses sell their goods, services and labor to people in exchange for
money. Goods and services are sold using a legal tender such as fiat money. This activity forms part of
the economy. It is an arrangement that allows buyers and sellers to exchange items. Competition is
essential in markets, and separates market from trade. Two persons may trade, but it takes at least
three persons to have a market, so that there is competition on at least one of its two sides. Markets

They match the distribution to the customers and include places such as Curry s, PC World, Wal Mart,

transport the company s product from its origin to its destination. Marketing services agencies are
companies that offer services such as conducting marketing research, advertising, and consulting.
Financial intermediaries are institutions such as banks, credit companies and insurance companies.
Another aspect of microenvironment is the customers. There are different types of customer markets
including consumer markets, business markets, government markets, international markets, and
reseller markets. The consumer market is made up of individuals who buy goods and services for their
own personal use or use in their household. Business markets include those that buy goods and
services for use in producing their own products to sell. This is different from the reseller market
which includes businesses that purchase goods to resell as is for a profit. These are the same
companies mentioned as market intermediaries. The government market consists of government
agencies that buy goods to produce public services or transfer goods to others who need them.
International markets include buyers in other countries and includes customers from the previous
categories.

Teen Pregnancy New Mexico
Teen pregnancy has always been an issue and even with the decrease in the last few years New
Mexico continues to be the highest ranked state (The office of adolescent health). Teen pregnancy is
an issue because the proper information is not being given to sexually active teens. Not only can teens
become pregnant from being sexually active but they can get sexually transmitted diseases as well.
Teens between the ages of 15 to 19 are not informed of the emotional and physical support needed if
they become pregnant. Teens that become pregnant at a young age generally don t finish high school

Human Services: https://www.hhs.gov/ash/oah/adolescent health topics/reproductive

The statistics found are answers to many questions about the sexual health of teens. This site has
several links that lead to answers to many questions teens and parents may have about sexual health.
Although many teens are sexually active they feel embarrassed looking up or asking questions about
sex. This is an issue with no specific repair but a good way to assist the issue is to raise awareness.
Many teens need to be taught the information to make an informed decision before becoming sexually
active. In schools teens are taught to be abstinent until marriage as well as to use protection if they are
going to be sexually active. Using protection is not stressed enough in schools and at home seeing the
teen pregnancy rate in New Mexico being ranked number one in the fifty states. In 2011 New Mexico

The White Australia Policy, The Racist Country Its...
Australia is not, and never has been, the racist country its academic historians have condemned
Critically analyse the white Australia policy relating it to the quote provided
In 1901, Edmund Barton the prime minster at time decided to introduce the Immigration Restriction
Act left Australia banning prostitutes, criminals, and anyone under a contract or agreement to perform
manual labour within Australia which seems that Edmund Barton was doing his job and kept Australia
safe but he was not. This is because, he did not stop there, he introduced a dictation test to exclude
certain people by making them sit a written exam that they need to pass to be welcome in Australia
voted by an immigration officer and majority of the non white people was given the answer no you are
not welcome here. Many of prime ministers were involved in this as it ended in 1973. The quote
Australia is not, and never has been, the racist country its academic historians have been condemned is
most certainly incorrect between the years 1901 to 1973 as the majority of people were not allowed to
enter Australia if they were non white people. The reasons proving that Australia was indeed a racist
country include the reasons why the white Australia policy was introduced, immigration and the way
other countries saw Australia.
The reasons why the white Australia policy was introduced is why Australia was awfully racist.

Open skies is an international policy concept which calls for the liberalization of rules and regulations
on international aviation industry most specially commercial aviation opening a free market for the

The Technology Era Of Technology
Just like a four year old on Christmas morning, I waited in the booksale line my sophomore year eager
to receive my newest toy. I quickly ran through the registration lines, so quickly that nearly forgot to
take my ID picture. Alas, a Glenbrook South student handed a large, white cardboard box with the
contents I had been anticipating all summer. It was Christmas in August. In the evolutionary era of
technology, schools have become increasingly dependent on the usage of internet and computers. As
teachers are provided with more and more online resources for instructing, it only makes sense for
students to follow. Along with other local elementary schools, Glenbrook South dipped its toes in the
technology era with the initial implementation of Smart Boards and other classroom technology in
over years past. In the 2013 2014 school year, Glenbrook South decided to fully submerge into the
pool to begin the ChromeBook program. Each student would be required to pay a portion of the cost
for the Samsung ChromeBook computer each year for school usage. These computers were introduced
in efforts to enable equality among all students, as they are being provided the same resourc and
online educational activities. Additionally, they would contribute to increased communication between
teachers and students. Despite all these benfits, why did more than half of surveyed seniors, including
myself, abandon their ChromeBooks for a more expensive, brand name laptop two years later?

Impact Of Technology On The Security System
T.J.X. was the leading fashionable brand name, off price product retailer in the U.S. In 2013 the
company s net sales reached $27 billion, increased by 6% compared to the same period in 2012. In
2007, the company was revealed by the investigating authorities that their database had been

In 2005, the discussion of upgrading the wireless system to the standard WAP was raised in the

Describe The Amazing Dolphins
The Amazing Dolphins
Have you ever know how smart and amazing dolphins are?The way that dolphins communicate is
through echolocation. Also dolphins are a mammal that are not scared of anything when they are in a
group , because other mammals like sharks will be scared. Dolphins are like humans they live in
different places like saltwater and freshwater. Dolphins also have a different choice of food like

The shape of a dolphins body helps them swim faster. they shape of their body is like a tube that is
pointed at both ends. When dolphins swim the water goes over their body because of their shape. This
helps them go faster so that they don t have to push through the water and they can flow through the
water. For example when dolphins work hard they can swim up to twenty five miles per hour.
Dolphins are known for their speed and quickness in the water.
I think that dolphins are very smart they are very easy to train because of their memory they have a
very good memorie. When they memorize something it stays there for there whole life. That s why
dolphins are in aquariums and they have shows for them. Dolphins are very like apes they use tools to
find the answer to a problem.
In conclusion I want to say dolphins are very interesting and beautiful mammals. They use their
echolocation to communicate. They live in different parts of the ocean. They can swim at a very fast
rate. Also they aren t scared of sharks when they are in a group. These beautiful mammals can teach us

Alternatives to Incarceration Essay
Alternatives to Incarceration
Ever since the first prison opened in the United States in 1790, incarceration has been the center of the
nations criminal justice system. Over this 200 year period many creative alternatives to incarceration
have been tried, and many at a much lower cost than imprisonment. It wasn t until the late 1980 s
when our criminal justice systems across the country began experiencing a problem with
overcrowding of facilities. This problem forced lawmakers to develop new options for sentencing
criminal offenders. Unlike jail or prisons, which create an expensive cycle of violence and crime,
these alternatives actually prevent violence and strengthen communities. Community corrections

Some of the conditions may be a requirement for employment, school, or community service hours.
These conditions must be met to satisfy the sanction, if they are not met the offender would be in
violation and sent to jail or prison. Another commonly used alternative is house arrest and
confinement. This sanction restricts an individual to his or her residence for specific periods of time;
in most house arrest programs offenders are allowed to leave their homes only for employment,
medical needs, or mandated assignments such as community service or school. The emphasis of this
program is on confinement, and the supervising officers role is to ensure that the offender stays
confined at home. There are three different levels of home confinement, each with a different degree
of restricted freedom. The first is curfew which requires offenders to be in their residence during
limited, specific hours, generally at night. The offender s movements outside of the curfew hours are
unregulated. The second is home detention that requires offenders to remain at home at all times
except for employment, education, treatment, or other pre approved activities. This program may be

requires offenders to remain at home at all times, with very limited exceptions for religious or medical

Panic Disorders And Fear
All humans have feelings. One of those feelings is fear. Many are afraid of the same things. There is a
difference between panic disorder and fear, the body will respond naturally whether it wants to or not.
This also affects the blood pressure and will cause it to change. One of the most common fears is
arachnophobia. This is the fear of spiders. Multiple humans are afraid of them because they are small
and silent. Another fear that is extremely common is ophidiophobia or the fear snakes. (Kahn, 2008)
This particular fear may be caused by the mind saying snakes look scary and may eat one self. Most

Ethnic Minorities in America Essay
Ethnic Minorities in America
In the United States the term minority often infers membership within an ethnic or cultural minority
group. However, this term also encompasses other groups that lack equality, such as women,
homosexuals and people with disabilities. By definition, the hearing majority classifies Deaf people as
minorities because of their inability to hear. Yet linguists and social scientists argue that the basis of
Deaf people s status as a minority group is not one of disability, but as a cultural and linguistic
minority (Lane, Hoffmeister and Bahan: 1996: 335 6). In order to assert that Deaf people are a
linguistic and cultural minority in America the characteristics of a minority group must first be
defined. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Humphrey and Alcorn, 1995: 85)
Unequal treatment and the lack of power are phenomena Deaf people have endured throughout time
because of their inability to hear. Historically hearing people viewed deafness as a defect of the mind
and body and they did not afford the Deaf the right to an education, own property or sign contracts.
Deaf people have long been subjugated by hearing people in all areas of life. The most blatant act of
audism occurred in the education of Deaf children. From 1880 until today hearing people have
dictated that the method of education utilized should be one that enables the Deaf to more readily
assimilate into the mainstream society. In order to achieve this goal, Deaf children were forced to wear
auditory trainers (machines that supposedly allowed them to listen to teachers voices) and were
slapped with rulers if they attempted to sign or gesture out of frustration. (Graybill video) The focus of
Deaf education was not about teaching Deaf children material appropriate to grade level but altering
behavior and improving speech ability. Even with such an antagonistic environment the Deaf were
forced into obtaining an education but for what means? Until 1880 many Deaf people worked as
teachers of the Deaf, but after the Milan Conference of 1880, which decreed that all instruction of
Deaf be done through spoken language, Deaf teachers were terminated and forced into menial labor.

Eyes in Steinbeck’s The Snake Essay
Eyes in Steinbeck s The Snake Eyes, both human and animal, appear as a predominant motif in John
Steinbeck s The Snake. Eyes serve not only a descriptive function, but signify two different modes of
looking. One mode, embodied by Doctor Phillips, is scientific; the other, embodied by his female
visitor, is bestial. Doctor Phillips uses sight to exert control over his environment; the woman s way of
looking proves more powerful, however, by achieving a truer understanding of the irrational impulses
that govern the natural world.
The description of Dr. Phillips eyes and the eyes of the woman qualify the two opposing worlds they
represent. Dr. Phillips, who represents the scientific world, has mild eyes (74). The adjective ... Show

Doctor Phillips not only cages his specimens, but controls the very process of life itself. He initiates
the fertilization process with the starfish, and then kills the specimens in batches so that each stage of
the procedure can be mounted on a microscopic slide. The microscope is an optical device, an
extension of the doctor s authoritative gaze. Yet the microscope also mediates natural sight, suggesting
distance between the doctor and the objects of his study. Dr. Phillips has the eyes of one who looks
through a microscope a great deal (74), implying that the only way he can understand the nature world
is through the distortion of a scientific device.
The conflict between the woman and the doctor is initiated when she refuses his offer to look through
the microscope (76). It is not that the woman is uninterested in the starfish; rather, she is rejecting the
scientific point of view that the microscope represents. The woman employs an entirely different point
of view, one closely matched with that of the snake. The woman s look and the snake s look are
described in almost identical terms: the woman has eyes that [don t] seem to look at anything (81),
while the snake has eyes that seem to look at nothing (73). The phrase seem to, again, suggests the
doctor s subjective interpretation, his own inability to understand their mutual mode of looking. These

Human Torture SHOULD Be Allowed Essay
Torture has long been a controversial issue in the battle against terrorism. Especially, the catastrophic
incident of September 11, 2001 has once again brought the issue into debate, and this time with more
rage than ever before. Even until today, the debate over should we or should we not use torture
interrogation to obtain information from terrorists has never died down. Many questions were brought
up: Does the method go against the law of human rights? Does it help prevent more terrorist attacks?
Should it be made visible by law? It is undeniable that the use of torture interrogation surely brings up
a lot of problems as well as criticism. One of the biggest problems is that if torture is effective at all.

After the incident, another question was brought forth: Whether it was time the government decided
that desperate times called for desperate measures, and that torture interrogation was in need.
According to the United Nations Convention Against Torture, torture is: Any act by which severe pain
or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person for such purposes as
obtaining from him, or a third person, information or a confession, punishing him for an act he or a
third person has committed or is suspected of having committed, or intimidating or coercing him or a
third person, or for any reason based on discrimination of any kind, when such pain or suffering is
inflicted by or at the instigation of or with the consent or acquiescence of a public official or other
person acting in an official capacity. (85) And it is also prohibited. But the truth is, even when being
outlawed, torture is still used silently, especially in the interrogation of terrorists. Did it have any
effect on the long term battle against terrorism of the U.S and the world? According to John McCain,
it is a no. In Torture s Terrible Toll , he wrote about his own experience: I was once physically coerced
to provide my enemies with the names of the members of my flight squadron, information that had
little if any value to my enemies as actionable intelligence. But I did not refuse, or repeat my

The Rise and Demise of Vaudeville Essay
As far as the development and demise of vaudeville, there is much to be said. But to truly understand
its rise and fall, first one must understand what vaudeville is. Vaudeville was a theatrical genre of
entertainment that was popular in the United States from the early 1880s until the mid 1930s. Each
performance consisted of a series of unrelated acts grouped together on a common bill. Types of acts
included classical musicians, dancers, comedians, trained animals, magicians, impersonators, acrobats,
illustrated songs, jugglers, scenes from plays, athletes, lecturing celebrities, and movies.
Vaudeville developed from many sources, including the concert saloon, freak shows, dime museums,
and literary burlesque. Deemed the heart of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although vaudeville seemed to be a long standing staple in our society, like all good things, it must
come to an end. the decline and death of vaudeville appears certain, clear and inevitable. From the
performers point of view, there was no perspective other than the here and now of their lives. Each
day seemed to differ little from the previous, and speculation about the future was, as ever, informed
by hear say and past experience. As an array of specialty acts, vaudeville was an enterprise without
name that, over many years, could be found in the marketplaces of Asia and Europe. It eventually
spread around the world to the farthest corners of Australia and Africa. Performers worked when and
where they could, quite often in undesired locations. A certain cliché attached to performing in bed
and breakfast s, saloons and public houses after their owners added stages and audience pits set apart
from the tavern. It soon became quite taxing for performers to not only live the same shows everyday,
but to move on and find other work after they were no longer needed in vaudeville shows. Still, this
was not the only reason for the demise of vaudeville, although it played a large part. The largest
contributing factor was the invention of the motion picture in the 1930 s. There was no longer a need
for people to be entertained by a comical, musical, circus style side show. Now they found a more
intimate and fascinating way of enjoying a performance. The first

The Green Berets and Casualties of War
The Green Berets and Casualties of War The films I chose to do my comparative paper on are The
Green Berets and Casualties of War. Both of these films deal with issues concerning the Vietnam War.
The Vietnam War was viewed as unpopular and pointless by society; The Green Berets objective was
to gain support for the Vietnam War. The film puts great emphasis on liberal war journalist George
Beckwith (David Janssen). Beckwith originally doubts America s involvement in the war, but after
spending time with the Green Berets, his attitude changes significantly. Casualties of War has a
different perspective on the Vietnam War. The film is based on a real life incident and it focuses on the
emotional and psychological aspects of war. The film ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lighting is also used to tell the dramatic state of mind of a character, as is the case with Private
Eriksson in Casualties of War. Eriksson suffers an injury from combat and taken to a hospitable.
Shadows from the fan blowing on him go around his face in a rapid motion. As this is shown, Eriksson
dreams of hearing the screams of the Vietnamese woman who was killed by Sergeant Meserve. As the
screams increase in volume, the shadows from the fan go around Eriksson s face at a faster pace.
Right when the screams and shadows reach their height in intensity, Eriksson wakes up from his
dream. With this expressionistic use of lighting, it allows the audience to see how much of an impact
the murder of the Vietnamese woman had on Eriksson. Now that we have covered lighting, let s take a
look at color in these two films. The use of color in The Green Berets creates a mood for the audience.
The Green Berets were labeled the liberators from oppression, and the film creates an environment
that is colored in green to express that slogan. By using the color green, it creates a tranquil and
comfortable mood for the audience. The colors blue and green help create what a character is feeling.
This is proven when George Beckwith is telling John Wayne about his change of heart toward the war.
The shot shows Beckwith with a blue sky and

Foodborne Illness Is A Major Public Health Problem
Foodborne illness, which can also be known as foodborne disease, foodborne infection, or foodborne
intoxication, is a major public health problem. All of the aforementioned refer to an illness developed
after eating contaminated food (Robert Friis, 2012, p279). Almost all factors that can cause a
foodborne illness are environmental. These include naturally occurring heavy metals, polluted water,
and pollutants in the air (Friis, 2012, p279). The agricultural process also holds a large hand in
contributing to foodborne illness, by potentially contaminating food with pesticides and antibiotics
used in animal growth (Friis, 2012, p279). Foodborne illnesses are often inaccurately referred to as
food poisoning.

Foodborne diseases in industrialized nations have seen an increase which can be attributed to
globalization in food distribution, changes in the agricultural and food processing methods, and other
behavioral and social changes occurring among human populations (Friis, 2012, p280). Foodborne
microbes are already present in healthy animals that are raised for human consumption, usually in
their intestines (HHS, 2016b). Contamination can occur during slaughter when edible meat comes into
contact with small amounts of intestinal contents (HHS, 2016b). A hen s ovary may become infected
with some types of salmonella so that the internal matter in an egg that appears to be normal are
contaminated with salmonella before the shell is even formed (HHS, 2016b). Filter feeding shellfish,
especially oysters, can become concentrated with vibrio bacteria that naturally occurs in sea water, or
other microbes that become present in the water from dumped sewage such as norovirus (HHS,
2016b). Other foodborne microbes can be introduced later in the food processing route by infected
people or when raw agricultural products become cross contaminated (HHS, 2016b). Fresh produce is
easily contaminated if the water used to wash it was contaminated with sewage (HHS, 2016b).
Unwashed hands of food handlers can spread shigella bacteria, norovirus, and hepatitis A because they
have been infected prior to handling food (HHS, 2016b). Cross contamination in the kitchen happens

Guilt And Dilemmas In Tillie Olsen s I Stand Here Ironing
In her short story I Stand Here Ironing , Tillie Olsen tells the story of a mother who wrestles with guilt
and justification in the circumstances surrounding her daughter s troubles. The teacher sends a request
to meet to discuss Emily s problems in school (Olsen, 607). Word choices the educator uses in her
request shows her desperation to help Emily (Olsen, 607) however, the appeal strikes deeply rooted
wounds and worries for the mother (Olsen, 608 612).
As the nurture, a mother is concerned with all her decisions, as well as uncontrollable elements in her
child s life; and what impact it will have on the child, both long and short term. This is a burden every
mother carries, but when hardships contribute to those decisions, the worry intensifies. Often the
lesser of two evils (and prayer for the best outcome) is the only option. This seems to have been the
case for Emily s mother, beginning with her divorce and life as a single mother (Olsen, 608).
In trying to strike a balance between being the provider and the nurturer, single mothers may have to
make decisions that can affect the bond they have with their child. Emily s mother had to do this when
she sent the child to her former in laws because she could not make enough money to provide for her
(Olsen, 608). This is not only a stumbling block for the child s development, it is a heartache that can
never be extinguished for the mother, even after the child has returned (Olsen, 608). The mother will

The Importance Of Teacher And Student Interaction In...
Teacher and student interaction could also help students achieve high academic performance. Lev
Vygotsky, a Russian psychologist, talked about a person with higher knowledge having a greater
influence on our learning. When people who are older and more knowledgeable guide us through a
learning process it is easier for us to grasp a better understanding of those concepts and information.
Students can ask teachers questions and teachers can answer those questions in ways that will help the
student understand the material they are learning. Teachers can practice a method known as high
quality instruction to ensure that all students are understanding the material being taught. According to
the IRIS Center Peabody College in Vanderbilt University, High quality instruction refers to the
utilization of both research validated instructional practices and core reading programs. Implementing
high quality instruction allows teachers to rule out inadequate instruction as a reason for poor reading
performance (2). The IRIS Center explains this concept in detail, providing further ways to implement
high quality instruction in the classroom. They discuss two ways to implement it. One way is through
a practice called differentiated instruction. This is where the teacher uses students assessment data and
alters instruction to maximize all students learning (The IRIS Center 2). This way, every student is
able to benefit from what is being taught. It also allows teachers to correct

Raphael Sanzio Da Urbino Research Paper
The Life of Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino By: Ben Mikus (5/1/16) Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino,
otherwise known as Raphael Sanzio of Urbino, was born on April 6, 1483 in Urbino, Italy. When he
was young, his father, Giovanni Santi, was his role model, being a painter for Federigo da

his father s jobs of painting and managing the workshop. When he was only 17, Pietro Vannunci,
better known as Perugino, offered him a job as apprentice. Raphael agreed and was excited to gain
both knowledge and a hand on experience. In the four years that the apprenticeship lasted, Raphael
painted many religious works including: the Mond Crucifixion (c. 1502), The Three Graces (c. 1503),
The Knight s Dream (1504), and the Marriage of the Virgin (finished in 1504). After the completion of

Skeletal Muscle Contraction
Neuromuscular junctions play a key role in skeletal muscle contractions, and they consist of axon
terminals, synaptic clefts, and junctional folds. The contraction begins with the arrival of a nerve
impulse at an axon terminal which causes acetylcholine (ACh) to be released into the synaptic cleft.
ACh then diffuses across the synaptic cleft and binds with receptors on the sarcolemma of skeletal
muscles. This binding creates electrical events that allow an action potential through muscle fiber
which causes a muscle contraction. However, normal communication between a muscle and nerve can
be interrupted due to the neurological disorder, myasthenia gravis. In Latin and Greek, Myasthenia

schools of thought pertaining to how firms should choose the competitive strategy that best suits them.
One is of the opinion that firms should choose one of the generic strategies and commit all resources

Anthropocene is a helpful book. This book is helpful because it assists in spreading awareness about

we are unlikely to solve global warming using todays methods thus preventing us from wasting more

problems that revolve around how they are not cheap or reliable. Scranton writes, Many critics
question whether renewable energy will ever be a feasible alternative to carbon fuels, pointing out that
its cost to energy ratios are simply too high (46). Renewable energy sources are expensive to set up

problem of cost with renewable energy along with being underdeveloped. Scranton writes, CCS is a
new and expensive technology that stands little chance of being developed on a global scale quickly
enough for it to make a real difference (50). Scranton helps the reader understand, in practice, CCS is
unlikely to solve global warming because it is too expensive to develop on a scale that might make a

why we are unlikely to solve it. However, Scranton does provide the reader with a

The Lekythos
A lekythos is an ancient Greek vase made of ceramic; the plural of lekythos is lekythoi (Reference
#2). It has a narrow neck, single handle, and is tall with a small, deep mouth (Reference #7). The
lekythos was used as a flask, used to hold olive oil and perfumes (Reference #1), and were developed
in ancient Athens during the fifth century. In Classical Athens, lekythoi were painted in white ground
with figurative scenes. White ground is a form of art used by Athenians in which they created the vase,
fired it, and then the lekythos was painted in white. The figures and scenes were then painted on top of

Secondly, some lekythoi were filled with scented oils and perfumes and placed around the body, while
others were set along the approach to the grave or placed beside the tomb (Reference #5). This was

lekythos would often be brought to the gravesite or tomb of the deceased after the burial. It was very
important to ancient Greeks to visit the gravesite of loved ones quite often, and when they visited, they
would bring offerings to the deceased such as fruit, a feast, or a lekythos filled with olive oil or

In time, the Lekythos was developed into a much larger version of itself, being called Huge Lekythoi .
These were often left on top of a grave, or beside a tomb opening, almost as an ancient grave marker

Essay On Mondelez Pakistan
Unethical aspects in Mondelez
Tax evasion/avoidance
Mondelez in Pakistan are now buying commercials for Cadbury, Tang and Eclairs from Mondelez
India. This means they don t have to waste money for new commercials in Pakistan. The government
is investigating allegations of excise evasion by Cadbury India. Cadbury India is now in the process of
becoming Mondelez International, a name it acquired after being taken over by Kraft and the
restructuring of the latter. Mondelez Pakistan are using television commercials and advertisements of
Mondelez India as the culture in Asia is the same, and this also gets tax evasion for Mondelez Pakistan
from Government of Pakistan. For example Mondelez Pakistan recently buys Indian Cadbury dairy
milk advertisement. So to avoid from high taxes, Mondelez Pakistan use this unethical practice
because the culture of both Pakistan and India are different.
More attention towards shareholders
Mondelez International creates more attention towards their shareholders instead of employees. This is
because increasing shareholders will increase investment in the company and increase investment
means more money in the company. Management also have to give attention towards employees but
they are also doing work for increasing their shareholders. This is ... Show more content on

If there is a problem in any products from HR, marketing or any other department they blame the sales
employees that they make the right product but sales employees have not sell right. They started
blaming the sales employees, which is unethical practice. Although the senior managers blame the
sales employees. In this company sales is made the important factor for selling the product. The
management have to focus on other factors as well rather than sales only. So it is unethical to blame
only the sales person because every time the sales person is not

Obasan and Poh-Poh Essay
Oftentimes when reading fictional texts with similar themes, readers will find themselves
encountering similar characters. In the realm of modern literature, elderly Asian women are often
portrayed with many similarities; they are seen as protective, caring people who possess great
wisdom. Ayako Nakane, also known as Obasan, the title character of Joy Kogawa s Obasan, and the
character Poh Poh in Wayson Choy s novel The Jade Peony, are very similar in this regard. Both
Obasan and Poh Poh drive forwards their respective narratives with their strong personalities. They
have each suffered through troublesome pasts and as a result have become very wise. Obasan and Poh
Poh share many similarities but they also have their differences. Both women ... Show more content

Even when her husband passes away, she does not break down into hysteria; she grieves quietly: The
language of her grief is silence... Over the years, silence within her small body has grown large and
powerful (Kogawa, 14). Despite her lack of words, Obasan is a source of love and steadfast support
for her niece Naomi and her nephew Stephen. When their parents disappear, Obasan steps in, never
hesitating to bear the weight of caring for the abandoned children. She feeds them, clothes them, and
ensures their well being under impossible circumstances. Her commitment to them never falters, even
when they neglect her. Stephen repeatedly treats Obasan with impatience and rudeness. Regardless,
Obasan constantly puts the needs of others before her own. Her actions are aimed at making the
people around her happy. Obasan does everything in her power to ensure that her niece and nephew
find a place for themselves in the world and Naomi takes comfort in her gentleness and dependability.
Despite her silence, Obasan is a focal point of the narrative and at the center of the main character
Naomi s life.
In Wayson Choy s The Jade Peony, Poh Poh is also a driving force of the narrative. The story is
separated into three segments; each segment tells a story from the perspective of a different sibling.
The siblings are Poh Poh s grandchildren. Poh Poh is a crucial element of all three stories. She forms a
bond with each child that helps them develop and she is a key

How E. Coli Affects The Digestive System
E. coli was first discovered by Theodor Escherich in 1885 after identifying it from the feces of a
newborn.(BioWeb). E.coli affects the digestive system. It s structures are a major part of its functions.
E.coli s functions are what causes the digestive system to malfunction.
E.coli affects and attacks the digestive system. The digestive system is where the body takes each
mouthful of food and turns it into a mushy paste, this paste helps maintain the body s homeostasis. (
Science Explorer 44). Homeostasis is the body s tendency to keep a stable environment. The Digestive
System breaks down the food into nutrients, nutrients are the substances in the food that provide
energy throughout your whole body. Carbohydrates are also a major source

Percy Jackson Book Comparison
Have you ever read the Percy Jackson books and/or Carter Kane books? If not I think you should, they
are fantastic books as Percy and Carter are both very brave. A character trait that they both share is
being brave. The Lightning Thief through The Blood Of Olympus are by Rick Riordan as are The Red
Pyramid through The Serpent s Shadow. Except The Lightning Thief through The Blood Of Olympus
stars Percy Jackson, and The Red Pyramid through The Serpent s Shadow stars Carter Kane. Percy
Jackson and Carter Kane both have to fight evil and save the world. My first reason, is that they both
have to fight evil. An example is, about Percy is, he had to fight an evil Titan, Kronos, and win.
Kronos was and is a Titan who once devoured his children that are gods this is another way that they
are alike. He had to choose between giving Luke the knife or not. He chose to give Luke the knife,
Luke then stabbed Kronos as Luke was in control of Kronos. Carter had to fight the god of evil, Set,
he was trying to turn the world to chaos and/or evil. Set had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One piece of evidence is, Percy had to return the lighting bolt to Zeus and succeed in which he did,
this where they are different and alike in a way. Carter had to return the golden scarab to Zeus. He had
to do that so gods don t start a war. If the gods had started a war the world would be a warzone with
only a few traces of human life form left behind. My second piece of evidence is Carter had to fight
Apophis this is a way Percy and Carter are alike, they both had to fight a higher up more powerful
being. I know I ve mentioned this before, but Carter has to defeat the god of chaos and/or send him
deep enough into the Duat so that Apophis can t come back to the surface of the earth. If/When
Apophis is sent into the Duat deep enough their world won t be entirely safe from other

Artificial Neural Network Essay
In these project functional models of Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) is proposed to aid existing
diagnosis methods. ANNs are currently a hot research area in medicine, particularly in the fields of
radiology, cardiology, and oncology. In this an attempt is made to make use of ANNs in the medical
field One of the important goals of Artificial Neural Networks is the processing of information similar
to human interaction actually neural network is used when there is a need for brain capabilities and
machine idealistic. The advantages of neural network information processing arise from its ability to
recognize and model nonlinear relationships between data. In biological systems, clustering of data

Also it includes resizing of image data. 2.2 Image Segmentation: Image Segmentation is concerned
about segmenting the image into various segments using various techniques. In early days a semi
automatic approach was being used to detect the exact boundaries of the brain tumor. However the
semiautomatic methods were not very successful as they had human induced errors and were time
consuming. A better application of tumor detection was made by introducing fully automated tumor
detection systems. Various methods have been proposed like Markov random fields method, Fuzzy c
means (FCM) clustering, Otsu s thresholding, K Mean s, neural network. In this project, four different
algorithms namely Otsu s method, Thresholding, K means method and Fuzzy c means and PSO have
been used for designing the brain tumor extraction system. Various segmentation techniques which
will be used in this project to segregate the different regions on the basis of interest are described as
follows: a) K means: K means is a clustering technique which aims to partition a set of observations
so as to minimize the within cluster sum of squares (WCSS). The evaluating function for an image a
(m, n) is given as: c(i)=Arg min|mxy2 nxy2| Where i is the no. of clusters in which the image is to be
partitioned. b) Otsu s Method: Otsu s Method divides the image into two classes of regions namely
foreground and background. The background and foreground regions are selected using the following

Thoroughly Modern Millie is an upbeat musical about a girl with big hopes and dreams in 1920s New
York City. The show involves large ensemble dance numbers and fantastic vocal performances. It
received rave reviews from the first preview and songs from the show can still be heard at auditions
around the world. Thoroughly Modern Millie is truly a show that all ages can enjoy and love.
Originally, Thoroughly Modern Millie was a 1967 movie musical starring Julie Andrews as the title

The issue that has been more common over the years is what I would considered to be the most important issue that nurses have to put up with on a regular bases is what effects does the working environment have on nurses that work in the environment they either have to conform to or find a way to put a stop to the issues the working environment has caused. There are positive and negative aspects that effect the working environment in the nursing field, because of the many things that coincide with what goes on in the working environment that is not seen by non staff members. Among these complaints have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Structural empowerment Purdy et al. state is the notion that removes conditions that foster dependence and powerlessness within an organization that will result in a positive employee behavior and improve performance (Effects of work environments on nurse and patient outcomes) which would cause a better working environment to work in. That being said I agree that being able to feel as you have power as a nurse to be able to be able to say things and control a little of how you work makes a nurse feel great about themselves as if they don t just have to watch and write down all that the patient does or what the doctor say, it is like they actually have a voice in the matter. Psychological empowerment is defined as the psychological state employees must experience for empowering interventions to be successful (Smith Lesley, Andrusyszyn and Laschinger Effects of workplace incivility and empowerment on newly graduated nurses_ organizational commitment). I would have to agree because if you have a good mind set about things even if it the worst thing in the world it will not seem like it is. Having a good mind set conquers all things. Smith et al. say that the empowering interventions are as followed meaning, confidence, autonomy and impact (Smith, Andrusyszyn and Laschinger Effects of workplace incivility and empowerment on newly graduated nurses_ organizational commitment). It is so true the mind if you really think of it is made up of these things, and these are the things that get most people through the day. For example having confidence in your work will make you feel as if you can do anything at work as long as it is legal and you are able to do. I would say that they are on to something and that something would be that if you have empowering employees the nurses work environment would not be so difficult to do with and there would be a more nurses willing to work and the work environment would become like home ... The separation of the bonds in the reactants require a certain amount of energy whereas energy is released when products are formed. There are two components where a physical or chemical change takes place. These are the system and surroundings. System and Surroundings The system is the site of the chemical reaction and the surrounding is the entire universe around it. The first law of thermodynamics states that energy cannot be crated or destroyed although one form of energy can be converted to the other form and vice versa . The initial temperature of the water was recorded with a thermometer so a change in temperature could be determined. This probe was then placed in the sandwich bag while sealed to observe the temperature inside the assumed calorimeter. Once both temperatures were recorded, the probe was carefully inserted into the sandwich bag. The bag was then sealed except for a little space to pour the water. The water was poured in through the gap and the bag was sealed immediately. The timer was started at the time the water was poured in. • 5. My Mother Never Worked By Bonnie Smith Yackel In Bonnie Smith Yackel s essay My Mother Never Worked she passionately defends her mother after Social Security refuses to grant her death benefit check. Yackel does not realize that Social Security fairly distributes benefits to contributing Americans. Social Security was reasonable to not granting benefits to a woman who never contributed as a wage earner. It would not be fair if benefits were granted to a fraud who never paid wage taxes compared to wage earners who do. Americans who abuse Social Security benefits by committing fraud is unethical and not to mention illegal. Americans that are in desperate need for Social Security benefits require it far more than frauds. By eliminating fraud the government can properly grant social benefits to hard working Americans. Social Security benefits should be permitted to Americans that work and provide back to their country or they are disabled. Hard working citizens that pay their duties will receive back from benefits, including employees that are qualified as disabled. Benefits should not be granted to any citizen that makes no contribution to their country such as, tax deductions from their wages. Furthermore, Social Security needs to reach out to the majority which is the poverty stricken. By informing impecunious people and immigrants of Social Security it could save them from the poverty they suffer from. Even though, Social Security relieves some citizens from a financial burden there are still many improvements to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction: China, indeed, was successful in pursuing foreigners to invest in their country; thus the rise of joint owned ventures and multinational corporations or MNCs. Soon enough, China s business industry was dominated mostly by multinational corporations. Through the establishment of MNCs, a lot of employment were created. Alongside MNCs however, are pressing controversial issues involving violation of human rights, labor code, and country policies as well as its involvement in environmental degradation. Multinational corporations impact the environment of China by exploiting its legal loopholes in their regulations. Chinese enforcement of their laws is weak. Although some corporations have made commitments to high standards and better practices, almost every multinational corporations still environmental practices because environmental lawsuits are not only cheap but also difficult, if not impossible, to file in China. As a result, the Chinese government have no choice but to allow MNCs to manage and regulate themselves in the processing and removal of their waste. This paper argues that multinational corporations in China despite their huge contributions in improving the Chinese economy and boosting its standing in the global market, have given less consideration to environmental policies. It also argues that China s immense desire for economic growth made the country disregardful in enforcing its policies in the environmental scale. Lastly, the paper argues that ... The definition for sleep is resting state in which the body is not active and the mind is unconscious (Cambridge). Words have more than one meaning; in many poems rest may mean rest in peace which means death. Another example of death is in the word sleep. In some areas in the bible, sleep represents death. When we started the negotiation, I suggested us to divide the total price into two parts, the first one was Market Research fee, and the second one was the Lama Lee s charge. After some initial discussion, I realized the Market Research fee was hard to negotiate, so I planed to put most of my effort on Lama Lee s fee. From my partner s argument, I realized that even in the real negotiation, you may lack some back up data to support your arguments at sometime, and all you can do is to rationalize your argument. It is not necessary to ask yourself to make up some fake data, but most important, how can you convince others use your logical and powerful argument. At the same time, I also realized that the negotiation partners are not always having the conflict interests during the negotiation. In this case, for some of the issues, we actually have the same goals. Coping with Anxiety Literature review In 2013, associate professor of psychology at the University of California, Kate Sweeny and her researchers surveyed 230 law school graduates for a period of four months after taking their bar exam in July 2013 ( J. Hoffman, 2015). The purpose of her research was to focus on the waiting period during which the person is uncertain of the outcome of a life situation and how they manage any anxiety that may occur during that time. The individuals that were surveyed in this descriptive research used three different strategies when asked about how they tried to avoid anxiety while waiting on their exam scores. The first group attempted to suppress their fears by trying to not pay attention. The second group sought for silver linings. They tried to anticipate something good in a bad outcome Dr. Sweeny explained. The third group used defensive pessimism. At the end of Dr. Sweeny s research study what came up is that the people that were calmed down during the waiting period were shattered and paralyzed by the bad news and if they got good news, they were not impress by the results (Dr. Sweeny, 2015). The people who were not doing well during the waiting period actually handled the news much better than the previous set of people. If they received bad news then they were ready for it and had ... The trial was a lawful case in 1925 in which a substitute high school teacher, John Scopes, was charged with violating Tennessee s Butler Act, which made it illegal to teach Darwinism in any state financed school. This trial was a gathering between various polar opposites, for example, Fundamentalism and Modernism. The clash between fundamentalism and modernism during the Scopes Trial had a significant impact on the American education system. In America, in the 1920s, two significant cultural movements arose that eventually clashed. A Christian fundamentalist movement arose in America and the fundamentalist s goal during this time was to recover and publicly institutionalize old time religious fundamental values. Fundamentalist believed in a literal interpretation of the Bible, and thus strongly objected to the teachings of Charles Darwin, since his theory of evolution contradicted the origin of man as found in the Bible. In the 1920s, the Christian fundamentalist began to gain political power across America and started passing legislation banning the teaching of Darwinism in state funded schools. At the same time cultural modernism was also rising in America. Modernist believes in a secular government and their agenda was education, democratic reforms, and economic progress. Many of prime ministers were involved in this as it ended in 1973. I quickly ran through the registration lines, so quickly that nearly forgot to take my ID picture. Alas, a Glenbrook South student handed a large, white cardboard box with the contents I had been anticipating all summer. It was Christmas in August. In the evolutionary era of technology, schools have become increasingly dependent on the usage of internet and computers. As teachers are provided with more and more online resources for instructing, it only makes sense for students to follow. Along with other local elementary schools, Glenbrook South dipped its toes in the technology era with the initial implementation of Smart Boards and other classroom technology in over years past. In the 2013 2014 school year, Glenbrook South decided to fully submerge into the pool to begin the ChromeBook program. Each student would be required to pay a portion of the cost for the Samsung ChromeBook computer each year for school usage. These computers were introduced in efforts to enable equality among all students, as they are being provided the same resourc and online educational activities. In 2007, the company was revealed by the investigating authorities that their database had been penetrated by hackers for 1.5 years, and been causing 94 million debit/credit card and customers personal information stolen around the world of its 2,500 branch stores. In 2005, the discussion of upgrading the wireless system to the standard WAP was raised in the information department. However, they choose to focus more on constraining the budget rather than to invest on wireless security system. According to the corresponding email between the CIO and the employee, they were aware the necessity of upgrading the system, but decided to overlook on the potential risk and the contingency plan they relied on was hope, hoping that they will not get compromised. And it was the same year when the first major intrusion into the company s system had occurred at Marshalls. The criminal hacked into the network and established connection with the main TJX server, then downloaded card information with their program installed onto the server. Since the hackers had access to the main database, they were able to modify and delete log files and to move data to hide their movements. Dolphins are known for their speed and quickness in the water. I think that dolphins are very smart they are very easy to train because of their memory they have a very good memorie. It wasn t until the late 1980 s when our criminal justice systems across the country began experiencing a problem with overcrowding of facilities. However, this term also encompasses other groups that lack equality, such as women, homosexuals and people with disabilities. Yet linguists and social scientists argue that the basis of Deaf people s status as a minority group is not one of disability, but as a cultural and linguistic minority (Lane, Hoffmeister and Bahan: 1996: 335 6). Deaf people have long been subjugated by hearing people in all areas of life. The most blatant act of audism occurred in the education of Deaf children. From 1880 until today hearing people have dictated that the method of education utilized should be one that enables the Deaf to more readily assimilate into the mainstream society. In order to achieve this goal, Deaf children were forced to wear auditory trainers (machines that supposedly allowed them to listen to teachers voices) and were slapped with rulers if they attempted to sign or gesture out of frustration. Doctor Phillips uses sight to exert control over his environment; the woman s way of looking proves more powerful, however, by achieving a truer understanding of the irrational impulses that govern the natural world. Yet the microscope also mediates natural sight, suggesting distance between the doctor and the objects of his study. It is not that the woman is uninterested in the starfish; rather, she is rejecting the scientific point of view that the microscope represents. The woman employs an entirely different point of view, one closely matched with that of the snake. Vaudeville was a theatrical genre of entertainment that was popular in the United States from the early 1880s until the mid 1930s. Each performance consisted of a series of unrelated acts grouped together on a common bill. Types of acts included classical musicians, dancers, comedians, trained animals, magicians, impersonators, acrobats, illustrated songs, jugglers, scenes from plays, athletes, lecturing celebrities, and movies. Although vaudeville seemed to be a long standing staple in our society, like all good things, it must come to an end. the decline and death of vaudeville appears certain, clear and inevitable. From the performers point of view, there was no perspective other than the here and now of their lives. Each day seemed to differ little from the previous, and speculation about the future was, as ever, informed by hear say and past experience. As an array of specialty acts, vaudeville was an enterprise without name that, over many years, could be found in the marketplaces of Asia and Europe. It eventually spread around the world to the farthest corners of Australia and Africa. Performers worked when and where they could, quite often in undesired locations. It soon became quite taxing for performers to not only live the same shows everyday, but to move on and find other work after they were no longer needed in vaudeville shows. Still, this was not the only reason for the demise of vaudeville, although it played a large part. The largest contributing factor was the invention of the motion picture in the 1930 s. There was no longer a need for people to be entertained by a comical, musical, circus style side show. Now they found a more intimate and fascinating way of enjoying a performance. The first ... Word choices the educator uses in her request shows her desperation to help Emily (Olsen, 607) however, the appeal strikes deeply rooted wounds and worries for the mother (Olsen, 608 612). As the nurture, a mother is concerned with all her decisions, as well as uncontrollable elements in her child s life; and what impact it will have on the child, both long and short term. This is a burden every mother carries, but when hardships contribute to those decisions, the worry intensifies. Often the lesser of two evils (and prayer for the best outcome) is the only option. This seems to have been the case for Emily s mother, beginning with her divorce and life as a single mother (Olsen, 608). In trying to strike a balance between being the provider and the nurturer, single mothers may have to make decisions that can affect the bond they have with their child. Emily s mother had to do this when she sent the child to her former in laws because she could not make enough money to provide for her (Olsen, 608). Lev Vygotsky, a Russian psychologist, talked about a person with higher knowledge having a greater influence on our learning. When people who are older and more knowledgeable guide us through a learning process it is easier for us to grasp a better understanding of those concepts and information. Students can ask teachers questions and teachers can answer those questions in ways that will help the student understand the material they are learning. Teachers can practice a method known as high quality instruction to ensure that all students are understanding the material being taught. According to the IRIS Center Peabody College in Vanderbilt University, High quality instruction refers to the utilization of both research validated instructional practices and core reading programs. Implementing high quality instruction allows teachers to rule out inadequate instruction as a reason for poor reading performance (2). The IRIS Center explains this concept in detail, providing further ways to implement high quality instruction in the classroom. They discuss two ways to implement it. ACh then diffuses across the synaptic cleft and binds with receptors on the sarcolemma of skeletal muscles. This binding creates electrical events that allow an action potential through muscle fiber which causes a muscle contraction. This was done as a part of the religious focus of the burial ceremony, and was given as an offering. Lastly, a lekythos would often be brought to the gravesite or tomb of the deceased after the burial. It was very important to ancient Greeks to visit the gravesite of loved ones quite often, and when they visited, they would bring offerings to the deceased such as fruit, a feast, or a lekythos filled with olive oil or perfume (Reference #6). In time, the Lekythos was developed into a much larger version of itself, being called Huge Lekythoi . These were often left on top of a grave, or beside a tomb opening, almost as an ancient grave marker (Reference #7). Though they would not be inscribed with any words or the name of the deceased, they would have a painted scene depicting the deceased, some scene from their life, or a scene depicting a sport or activity the deceased greatly enjoyed. Many lekythoi have been recovered and are currently housed in museums all over the world. Though many are not in their original glory, most have been reconstructed. New lekythoi have been made in Greece and are still used today in some small Greek communities during the preparation of the body, and left by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Essay On Mondelez Pakistan Unethical aspects in Mondelez Tax evasion/avoidance Mondelez in Pakistan are now buying commercials for Cadbury, Tang and Eclairs from Mondelez India. This means they don t have to waste money for new commercials in Pakistan. The government is investigating allegations of excise evasion by Cadbury India. Cadbury India is now in the process of becoming Mondelez International, a name it acquired after being taken over by Kraft and the restructuring of the latter. Mondelez Pakistan are using television commercials and advertisements of Mondelez India as the culture in Asia is the same, and this also gets tax evasion for Mondelez Pakistan from Government of Pakistan. For example Mondelez Pakistan recently buys Indian Cadbury dairy milk advertisement. So to avoid from high taxes, Mondelez Pakistan use this unethical practice because the culture of both Pakistan and India are different. More attention towards shareholders Mondelez International creates more attention towards their shareholders instead of employees. This is because increasing shareholders will increase investment in the company and increase investment means more money in the company. • 39. Obasan and Poh-Poh Essay Oftentimes when reading fictional texts with similar themes, readers will find themselves encountering similar characters. In the realm of modern literature, elderly Asian women are often portrayed with many similarities; they are seen as protective, caring people who possess great wisdom. Ayako Nakane, also known as Obasan, the title character of Joy Kogawa s Obasan, and the character Poh Poh in Wayson Choy s novel The Jade Peony, are very similar in this regard. Both Obasan and Poh Poh drive forwards their respective narratives with their strong personalities. They have each suffered through troublesome pasts and as a result have become very wise. Obasan and Poh Poh share many similarities but they also have their differences. Both women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even when her husband passes away, she does not break down into hysteria; she grieves quietly: The language of her grief is silence... Over the years, silence within her small body has grown large and powerful (Kogawa, 14). Despite her lack of words, Obasan is a source of love and steadfast support for her niece Naomi and her nephew Stephen. When their parents disappear, Obasan steps in, never hesitating to bear the weight of caring for the abandoned children. She feeds them, clothes them, and ensures their well being under impossible circumstances. Her commitment to them never falters, even when they neglect her. Stephen repeatedly treats Obasan with impatience and rudeness. Regardless, Obasan constantly puts the needs of others before her own. Her actions are aimed at making the people around her happy. Obasan does everything in her power to ensure that her niece and nephew find a place for themselves in the world and Naomi takes comfort in her gentleness and dependability. Despite her silence, Obasan is a focal point of the narrative and at the center of the main character Naomi s life. In Wayson Choy s The Jade Peony, Poh Poh is also a driving force of the narrative. The story is separated into three segments; each segment tells a story from the perspective of a different sibling. The siblings are Poh Poh s grandchildren. Poh Poh is a crucial element of all three stories. She forms a bond with each child that helps them develop and she is a key ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

E.coli affects the digestive system. It s structures are a major part of its functions. E.coli s functions are what causes the digestive system to malfunction. E.coli affects and attacks the digestive system. The digestive system is where the body takes each mouthful of food and turns it into a mushy paste, this paste helps maintain the body s homeostasis. ( Science Explorer 44). Homeostasis is the body s tendency to keep a stable environment. • 41. Percy Jackson Book Comparison Have you ever read the Percy Jackson books and/or Carter Kane books? If not I think you should, they are fantastic books as Percy and Carter are both very brave. A character trait that they both share is being brave. The Lightning Thief through The Blood Of Olympus are by Rick Riordan as are The Red Pyramid through The Serpent s Shadow. Except The Lightning Thief through The Blood Of Olympus stars Percy Jackson, and The Red Pyramid through The Serpent s Shadow stars Carter Kane. Percy Jackson and Carter Kane both have to fight evil and save the world. My first reason, is that they both have to fight evil. An example is, about Percy is, he had to fight an evil Titan, Kronos, and win. Kronos was and is a Titan who once devoured his children that are gods this is another way that they are alike. He had to choose between giving Luke the knife or not. He chose to give Luke the knife, Luke then stabbed Kronos as Luke was in control of Kronos. Carter had to fight the god of evil, Set, he was trying to turn the world to chaos and/or evil. Set had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One piece of evidence is, Percy had to return the lighting bolt to Zeus and succeed in which he did, this where they are different and alike in a way. Carter had to return the golden scarab to Zeus. He had to do that so gods don t start a war. If the gods had started a war the world would be a warzone with only a few traces of human life form left behind. My second piece of evidence is Carter had to fight Apophis this is a way Percy and Carter are alike, they both had to fight a higher up more powerful being. I know I ve mentioned this before, but Carter has to defeat the god of chaos and/or send him deep enough into the Duat so that Apophis can t come back to the surface of the earth. If/When Apophis is sent into the Duat deep enough their world won t be entirely safe from other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

ANNs are currently a hot research area in medicine, particularly in the fields of radiology, cardiology, and oncology. In this an attempt is made to make use of ANNs in the medical field One of the important goals of Artificial Neural Networks is the processing of information similar to human interaction actually neural network is used when there is a need for brain capabilities and machine idealistic. The advantages of neural network information processing arise from its ability to recognize and model nonlinear relationships between data. In biological systems, clustering of data and nonlinear relationships are more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also it includes resizing of image data. 2.2 Image Segmentation: Image Segmentation is concerned about segmenting the image into various segments using various techniques. In early days a semi automatic approach was being used to detect the exact boundaries of the brain tumor. However the semiautomatic methods were not very successful as they had human induced errors and were time consuming. A better application of tumor detection was made by introducing fully automated tumor detection systems. Various methods have been proposed like Markov random fields method, Fuzzy c means (FCM) clustering, Otsu s thresholding, K Mean s, neural network. In this project, four different algorithms namely Otsu s method, Thresholding, K means method and Fuzzy c means and PSO have been used for designing the brain tumor extraction system. Various segmentation techniques which will be used in this project to segregate the different regions on the basis of interest are described as follows: a) K means: K means is a clustering technique which aims to partition a set of observations so as to minimize the within cluster sum of squares (WCSS). The evaluating function for an image a (m, n) is given as: c(i)=Arg min|mxy2 nxy2| Where i is the no. of clusters in which the image is to be partitioned. b) Otsu s Method: Otsu s Method divides the image into two classes of regions namely foreground and background. The background and foreground regions are selected using the following weighted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
