Martin Real Property Case
Martin s legal troubles in terms of his property are, although unfortunate and stressful, displaying
signs of hope that this will turn out well for him in the long run. The foreclosure and trespassing on
his mountain cabin property, the confiscation of his coastal property by the city of Wilmington,
NC, and the stealing of his personal propertyfrom the seafood restaurant all have evidence that will
point out in Martin s favor.
Mountain Property In regards to the mountain property, Martin and his friends purchased acres 31
years ago as joint tenants with a right of survivorship. Now, according to law, each participant in
the joint ownership has an equal amount of land, and if one of them dies their land will divide up
among the surviving participants. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Martin s property was confiscated by the city of Wilmington, NC and conveyed to the Tar Heel
Family Resort company for developing their resort. Martin s and his neighbors properties were torn
down and provided with just compensation for the value of the property. Legally, the government,
state or federal, may confiscate personal property for the sole purpose of public use; if the property
s confiscation was for usages other than for public accommodations it s thereby illegal and
unconstitutional. The Fifth Amendment s Taking Clause covers this, which is to protect property
owners from the most significant costs of legal transitions (Serkin, 2015). The process of taking the
property is condemnation and the right to do it is eminent domain. However, in terms of whether
the right exists, the government must prove that the confiscation was for public use of the land.
Within the development plans of the resort it only states that it provides vacationing venues and
possible job creations. If Martin reviews the North Carolina s statutes he will find that the private
owners who possess authorization to confiscate the property must be corporations dealing with
installations of public utilities such as railroads, streets, and power lines, educational institutions,
franchised motor vehicle carriers or union bus station companies

Child Labor Is The Lack Of Intergenerational Human Capital...
Introduction
Developed countries have a conception that child labor is highly exploitative and is driven by
long hours in deplorable conditions in sweat shops, prostitution rings, and rebel armies. While this
perception has been very effective at raising awareness and action on the issue of child labor, it is
quite misleading as only a small percentage of wage labor is of such an exploitative nature. It is
imperative to take a more nuanced view of child labor and accept that it is not inherently bad as the
current stigmatized view of the issue would suggest. I will argue that while there are necessary, and
at times, good utilizations of child labor, high rates of this phenomenon tend to be ultimately
detrimental to the child, household, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, I will discuss how the informal sector is intimately tied to child labor and presents unique
obstacles for creating effective change. Lastly, I will take up considerations in the policy process
revolving around child labor and ultimately offer policy initiatives that would be effective at
limiting rates of child labor.
Child Labor as a Crucial Development Issue
It is undeniable that some children work in circumstances that are highly exploitative and
detrimental to their well being. Most economists, policymakers, and even laypersons throughout
much of world will agree that swift policy is necessary to minimize the suffering of these children.
Although there are moral considerations in the most deplorable of these scenarios, many instances
of child labor fall outside the purview of this narrow conception. A large portion of child labor is
characterized by children working limited hours in conditions dictated by parents or other family
members. Although these circumstances are not universally better, it seems reasonable to expect
that parents would protect their children to some extent especially considering maximizing rates of
return on their investments to the child. Child labor, thus, must be considered not as undoubtedly
negative, but as a morally neutral necessity in some developing countries. Nonetheless, we must
consider that there is indeed a toll that is not just physical but also psychological for these children;
even at the

Deontological And Teleological Ethics
Introduction This essay will include the background and development of deontological and
teleological ethics. Also, it will compare and contrast the absolute and relative ethics. Finally, it
will contain the ethical issues which can affect the operational activities of the business. In
order to support the points, it will also include the real life examples. AC 1.1 Background and
development of ethical approaches Teleological ethic this describes an ethical theory which
judges the rightness of an action in terms of an external goal or purpose. So, according to a
teleological theory, consequences always play some part, be it small or large, in the
determination of what one should or should not do. Not all teleological theories are
consequentialist. John Rawls theory of justice is teleological, but not consequentialist because
it claims that consequences are only part of what must be considered when determining what
policy is morally just. For example, animal testing is the moral choice to put animal through
pain or not. The reason behind defining animal testing in a make up factory it is for a greater
good as if the animal gets hurt now, people are saved later as people will be able to use the
products that are developed and safe to use later. This is teleological because the moral choice
was decided upon the probability of a good outcome: the animal is tested upon, people would be
able to get a safe makeup products. A consequentialist action is one where the being

The Bicameral System In The Australian Government System
The Australian government system has been originally created in 1901 through the Constitution.
With the fundamentals carved in the Constitution, the Australian System is often referred to as a
Washminster System as it is a hybrid of the Washington (US) and Westminster (UK) system of
government. With the fusion of North America and the United Kingdom s government systems, the
phenomenon of the bicameral system was implemented in the Australian system. Bicameralisms
origins are from England and it was later established in the United States. Hence, the onset of the
Australian system s structures was anglocentric by reflecting the foundations and concepts of
England. However, the concept of bicameralism is known to have existed since medieval times and
has since been in the chronical of the Western political progress for centuries. Bicameralism is an
important system in the Australian government. It refers to a government which consists of two
chambers, or houses. Alike North America, the houses are known as the House of Representatives
(the lower house) and the Senate(the upper house). On the other hand, in the United Kingdom, the
chambers are known as the House of Commons (the lower house) and the House of Lords (the
upper house). In 1789, North America altered their constitution in order to ratify how the American
citizens were represented. Through bicameralism, the House of Representative would represent the
people equally by population, whereas the Senate would

Thoroughbred A thoroughbred is a type of horse. This horse is mostly known for being used as race
horses. These horses are commonly known to be used in flat racing throughout North America.
Though this is how many people know them, this is not all the thoroughbred can do. This is an
amazing breed that is known to be able to do many different things. Thoroughbreds also have a
unique style of how they are built and how they (Blocksdorf n.p.). The breeding of the
thoroughbred was the result of a horse that could carry weight and sustain speed over extended
distances. This is the reasoning behind why people started to use thoroughbreds as race horses

Many thoroughbreds are just riding horses for pleasure, but there is also many different sports
that they are involved in other than racing. The main sports other than racing are jumping,
dressage, and hunting. Show jumping is when horse and rider compete in a competition to
complete a course of jumps without error and quickly. Dressage is when the horse and rider do
patterns in an arena and the rider is able to make the horse look like it is dancing. This is one of
the most difficult things that you can train a horse to do. Hunting or hunter jumping is when the
horse and rider compete in a long cross country jumping course. This can be very intense and very
hard because it is also judged with how many errors you have and the speed you complete the

Why Should The Burqa Not Be Banned Case Study
An abundant deal of confusion surrounds the burqa and the dispute of it being worn in Western
countries. Lately in media, there has been several multiculturalism disputes surrounding Muslims.
The disputes are regarding whether or not Muslims should be permitted to wear burqas. Many
would concur that prohibiting burqas is discriminating against Muslims rightsin choosing religion.
In a multicultural society such as America, individuals should be free to express their own
religious faith and display religious symbols such as burqas.
From an ethical standpoint, the burqa should not be banned. Any individual has the basic human
right to be able to live his life and to express himself in any environment that is protected and equal.

conflicted with the company s look policy, a code derived from Abercrombie s focus on what it

course of her interview and did not specify that she would need an accommodation from the Look

with the district manager, who advised her to decrease Elauf s evaluation on the appearance
portion of the application. Decreasing Elauf s evaluation in turn lowered her overall score and
prevented her from acquiring the job. Due to these circumstances, the Equal Employment

Usui Reiki Research Paper
THE CONCEPT OF REIKI
Reiki is a Japanese form of stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing through the
laying on of hands. Despite being often referred to as spiritual healing, reiki is a secular practice
and is unrelated to any religion or faith system. Rather, it centres on the belief that all beings are
created and sustained by a universal life force energy, which, if disrupted, weakened or blocked,
can result in emotional and/or physical dis ease. Reiki practitioners act as a channel for this energy,
which flows through them and into the recipient via a series of hand positions relating to the seven
main chakras, which in turn are linked to the body s endocrine system, thereby restoring the
energetic balance and encouraging the body to self heal. As the flow of reiki energy is absorbed
by the recipient through both the subtle and physical bodies, reiki ... Show more content on

Home Building Industry How does the home building industry affected by the economy? This is
what we will be exploring in the paper. There are different areas within the industry that can be
affected. First we will look at supply and demand. Then continue to the positive and negative
externalities, and how wages inequality is measured. Then finally, we will look at the monetary and
fiscal policies that affect the housing industry. With the information we will have a better
understanding of how the home buildingindustry is affected. When looking at prices within an

Pandora Compare And Contrast Essay
Another important requirement for the process of natural selection among species is having a
variety of traits. The variation of traits to be selected upon by the environment allows for the
changing of allele frequencies among the generations of the population. One of the main sources for
genetic variation is sexual reproduction, which occurred between members of the Na vi and
members of the Thanator species. Sexual reproduction among members of a species can lead to
genetic mutations in the DNA, which can attribute to the variability of genes. One obvious variable
trait among the hominid species of Pandora is their height. The males were typically seen to be
taller in height than the females, but with each member having a different height the trait can vary
among offspring. If the environment demands for taller offspring then it will naturally select for
that trait among individuals,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

homologous structure is essentially an anatomical similarity between organisms of different
species that are representative of variations on a structural basis and are derived from a common

for example mammals tend to have pelvic bones and fish do not. Homology Between the
Hominids and Various Species on Pandora Much homology exists between the hominid species of
Pandora and the other species, such as the fact that the hominids have four fingers and toes on each

what made previous collaborations in my life so successful and what made the more unfavorable

idea they would suggest, even if it was good. Although we managed to put aside our differences to
finish the project, not many positive memories remained from that collaboration other than the
negativity and awkwardness between us. I understand how tension in a group could harm the
collaboration as it may lead to the rejection of positive ideas or worse case scenario, sabotaging

collaborating in general. I plan to enforce these ingredients in future group projects as it ll allow

The main objective would be to see if the public reacts the same depending on the sports
background of male athletes. First, I would go to google and research male athletes who are
accused of the same, or similar crimes whether that be drug offenses, DUI, or a domestic dispute.
To avoid any biases in my conclusion, I would need to go to different locations to ask diverse
races, genders, ages these questions. To begin the survey process, I would start with basic
questions to grasp the gist of how much the participant knows/cares about sports with their age,
sports knowledge, and teams there are fans of. I would take 3 men with similar offenses, if not
identical, and survey the public to see how they reacted when the story broke whether or not they
are still a fan, whether they believe they will not do it again, whether or not they believe their
apology to the world was sincere, etc. These questions would be short yes or no questions to ensure

Octavian could then concentrate his efforts on moving against Marc Antony, for total control of the
Roman Empire. The Battle of Actium in 31 BC was arguably one of the most important naval

again defeat Antony. Consequently, Antony and Cleopatra (Anotny s wife) commit suicide. With
the victory at the Battle of Actium, Octavian was now sole ruler of Rome and all its provinces.
Upon the defeat and death of Antony, Octavian proclaimed the restoration of the Republic of
Rome. However, he had no intention of stepping down as leader. In 27 BC Octavian placed the
republic at the disposal of the Senate and the Roman people. Octavian s position was now
legitimized by the Senate s request that he command and lead Rome. He was given the military

The Theory Of Attachment Proposed By John Bowlby And Mary...
The lectures, discussions in class, and chapter readings highlighted the importance of one of the
characteristics of human nature, which is relationships and attachment. The course materials
emphasized the critical role of relationship and attachment to the development of the children. The
internship site also provided an opportunity for me to visualize different attachments and
relationships between parent and child in action. As the chapter readings from the textbook explore
different perspectives of relationship and attachment proposed by various theorists, the class
discussions and lectures furthered my understanding and knowledge of parent child relationships.
In chapter 3, the theory of attachment proposed by John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth is explored.
First, Bowlby s theory of attachment was influenced by the ethological theorist, Darwin, Lorenz,
and Tinbergen, who were previously mentioned in the chapter. Bowlby emphasized that behaviors
found in animals, such as seeking close proximity from mothers to reduce the chance of becoming a
prey, can also be found in toddlers. For example, Bowlby defined that actions such as following,
crying out, and clinging found in children are displayed in order to keep close distance to parents is
called attachment behaviors. Bowlby incorporates imprinting and instincts, which are ethological
terms, to explain different phases of attachment. As the child develops through time, the attachment
of child and parent deepens their

Director Clarke, the proven deterioration and failure of the authoritarian government is not the

great again, how can we we abandon the last 200 successful and revolutionary years of
democracy behind? Our President s emphasis on again shows his ideas that we need to refer
back to the roots of our country. President Abraham Lincoln once said that, The legitimate object
of government is to do for the people what needs to be done, but which they can not, by
individual effort, do at all, or do so well, by themselves. It is time to take a look back at our
country s rich history of free and fair elections, participation of citizens in the government, and
the importance of human rights. In democracy, the policies and rights of the individual are
representative of the people, not just the government elites. Over time, the citizens of an

populations. In order to show the later life effects of reproduction, Hayward et al. studied the
survival of calves and annual breeding success of elephants throughout their lives and into their
older age.

produced a study that examined the later life consequences of breeding on a population,
particularly breeding early in life. Hayward et al. also used the Myanmar timber camp Elephas
maximus to perform the research, looking at the records of 416 reproductive captive born
mothers and their offspring. The elephants used were from 8 regions of the Myanmar timber
camps with the youngest breeding being 5 years of age and the oldest being 53. The mean age
at the first birth of offspring was 19.48 years with the maximum number of lifetime calves being
10 calves. Hayward et al. discovered that individuals who didn t produce calves before the age of
19 had lower calf survival than those who produced one or more calves before the age of 19.
Although beginning reproduction earlier in life is correlated with a shorter lifespan, the cost is
outweighed with higher annual breeding success as well as increased calf survival (Hayward et
al). The investment of energy and resources into breeding at an early age increases the chance of
calf survival but also results in shorter lifespans compared to those who begin reproduction later
in life (Hayward et al.). Based on the findings, the costs of early life reproduction are offset by
higher lifetime breeding success in younger elephants. The breeding success of younger elephants
can be attributed not only to early reproduction, but also to older females in a herd. While

The ad interim government of the new Republic of Texas and much of the civilian population fled
eastward ahead of the Mexican forces. The conflict arose after Antonio LГіpez de Santa Anna
abrogated the 1824 constitution of Mexico and established martial law in Coahuila y Tejas. The
Texians resisted and declared their independence. It was Sam Houston s responsibility, as the
appointed commander in chief of the Provisional Army of Texas (before such an army actually
existed), to recruit and train a military force to defend the population against troops led by Santa
Anna. Residents on the Gulf Coast and at San Antonio de BГ©xar began evacuating in January
upon learning of the Mexican army s troop movements into their area, an event that was ultimately
replayed across Texas. During early skirmishes, some Texian soldiers surrendered, believing that
they would become prisoners of war but Santa Anna demanded their executions. The news of the
Battle of the Alamo and the Goliad massacre instilled fear in the population and resulted in the
mass exodus of the civilian population of Gonzales, where the opening battle of the Texian
revolution had begun and where, only days before the fall of the Alamo, they had sent a militia to
reinforce the defenders at the mission. The civilian refugees were accompanied by the newly
forming provisional army, as Houston bought time to train soldiers and create a military structure
that could oppose Santa Anna s greater forces.

Mortality In Virginia Woolf s The Death Of The Moth
Mortality and the Moth Death is unwelcome news for all human beings, but at the same time, it is
an unavoidable incident that everyone should accept. About this statement, some people might
argue that the death is a part of people s life, while people cannot avoid it. In The Death of the
Moth , Virginia Woolf, the writer of the essay, claims that people should be aware of mortality and
accept the death with a deferential attitude through the observation of the little moth s death throes.
The key concepts of the essay release as the writer illustrates her attitudes that change
chronologically as she comprehends the moth s fierce fight with death. By introducing the essay
with a brief but detailed description of a pleasant morning, mid September (125), she leads the
readers to get the background idea of the moth s upcoming fate. Initially, Woolf s feeling towards
the moth was pity and pathetic. The sentence, ... his zest in enjoying his meager opportunities to the
full, pathetic. (125), describes how the author perceives a moth as a trivial, minor creature.
However, after she encounters and apprehends the moth s furious fights against death, her feeling
shifts toward admiration and respect. ... This gigantic effort on the part of an insignificant little
moth, against a power of such magnitude, to retain what no on else valued or desired to keep,
moved one strangely (127). Eventually, the essay concludes with author s claim on death s
strangeness: the true nature of life and death and the motivational attitude towards the death. Hence,
in this paper, I will explore how Woolf expresses her appreciation towards the moth and the death,
and examine the definitions of the life and the death through the relationship between the moth and
Woolf. Throughout The Death of the Moth, the main theme is derived from the observation and
recognition. By observing the moth s little movement to revive, Woolf recognizes the connection
between life and death, and the receptive attitude towards the death. We usually do not really care
or learn a lesson from a moth s behavior. We usually think a moth is a little, insignificant creature.
Same as readers, Woolf initially dismisses and devalues the moth and his motions.

characters have very close friendship, and take care of each other. These two relationships differ

A quotation from this novel of this is when Slim said You had to George, I swear you had to just
after the murder place. The quote relates to the relationship of Elie and his father by showing
how they both felt the same burden about others. Lastly, another similarity between the
relationships is how close they are throughout the novels. For example, one way is as mentioned
earlier, they care for each other by feeling remorse when something happens to them such as in
Night or when they do something that might put them in danger or make them ill. An example
is when George says Lennie for God sakes don t drink so much. This relates to Elie and his
father by showing us how they cared for each other s health. All of this shows that even if
characters are from different novels there are still many qualities in their relationships that
coincide. The relationship between Elie and his father, and the relationship between George and
Lennie differed in many aspects. One example, of this is that George and Lennie from the novel
Of Mice and Men had a relationship of tough love even though they cared for each other,
compared to Elie and his father which still loved each other but were not so harsh on each other.
For instance, George always would say I would be better off without you Lennie. Even though he

Abdominoplasty Essay Questions
What Patients Need to Know
A tummy tuck, also referred to as abdominoplasty, is a surgical procedure that removes excess fat
and skin in the abdominal area. Before asking Am I a good tummy tuck candidate, patients need to
know that a tummy tuck is not a substitute for weight loss. Diet and exercise should be used as a
weight loss aid prior to a tummy tuck. The ideal candidate for this surgery is someone at a healthy
weight for his or her age, height, and body type. Ideal candidates have loose, excessive skin in
the lower abdominal region. This skin could be the result of extreme weight loss, pregnancy, or
aging. Patients approved for a tummy tuck will have two incisions made: one in the lower
abdomen and one around the navel. The fat and skin are then separated from the abdominal
muscles. The muscles are trimmed to give the tummy a tighter look and stitched into place. The
skin is re stretched over the muscles and any excess skin is removed. The lower incision is stitched
up, and the upper incision is closed after the navel has been reattached in a natural looking position.

During these past 7 months, I have gained so much love for someone I have never met before.
Being 24 years old and becoming a mother has changed my views on life. Learning so much about
caring for a newborn has brought on the thought of bottle feeding or breast feeding and trying to
figure out which one is safer for his health. Children enter this world helpless, trying to understand
their new environment and learning their new touch. Infants depend on the caring individuals
around them, especially their mothers, to help them in their first few days of life to figure out the
new aspect of life. It is the obligation of the parents to take care and nurture their newborn. Parents
are to deliver for their children both through emotional needs as well as survival needs.
One thing about caring for a newborn is needing to be fed through the means of milk. Formula
bottle feeding or milk from the breast is a decision made by the mother and father over doing their
research of the health of their child. As stated in Nancy E. Wright s article on the progression of
breastfeeding, Aristotle said, There is a reason behind everything in nature. Certain incidences take
place in nature that has effects or consequences to them. Choosing to breastfeed is a decision that
new mothers make that requires sacrifice and hard work, yet has the prospective to be a very
healthy food nutrient for infants.

Rul. 70 104, 1970 1 C.B. 66 (1970), is that services from the consulting agreement by the father
show a prohibited interest within В§302(c)(2)(A)(i). The attribution to him would be terminated
due to stock attribution rules of В§318, which states that stock owned by family members
individually may be reattributed to him through estate, trust, partnership or corporation of which he

In a Tax Court case from 1974, Estate of Lennard v. Comm., 61 T.C. 554 (1974), the judgment of
Congress was not to include independent contractors which possessed no financial stake in the
corporation as retaining an interest in the corporation for attribution waiver rules. The Ninth

Honor in Much Ado About Nothing Essay
Throughout the history of the world, honor has been an important part of life. In literature, as well,
honor plays an important role in many plots and the development of almost any character.
Shakespeare s play Much Ado About Nothing is no exception. In this comedy about love and
marriage, honor is revealed as the primary reason for many of the actions taken by several different
characters. When Claudiobreaksoff his wedding with Hero, he does it because he believes she is not
chastised as she claims to be and in being such, she would dishonor him as well as her father if
the marriage were to proceed as planned. The play is an accurate depiction of the honor codeand the

Her honor is disgraced for her actions and Claudio will no longer accept her as his wife because of
the dishonor she has caused him.
Shakespeare uses both Claudio and Leonato to represent the males of the time and the honor
code they were held to. Claudio is in no way held to the same pre marital expectations as Hero,
which, at the time, was the case for all men. For instance, when Hero is accused of being with a
man prior to her marriage, no one questions what man and, quite frankly, no one cares what man.
Shakespeare also shows how men are judged and given honor based on how their women act.
When Leonato learns of the accusations his daughter receives on her wedding day he scolds her
and says,
Wherefore? Why doth not every living thing
Cry shame upon he? Could she here deny
The story that is printed in her blood?
Do not live, Hero; do not open thine eyes...
Why had I not with charitable hand
Took up a beggar s issue at my gates,
Who smirched thus and mired with infamy,
I might have said, no part of it is mine;
This shame derives itself from unknown lions ? (IV, i)
This quote shows how a father at that time would wish to have no part of his daughter for
committing such acts because he knows of the dishonorable reputation he will receive as a result.
In the time of Shakespeare, men and women were held to different standards and honored and
dishonored for different reasons. Chastity is one of those reasons. For a

Several species of tropical hardwoods are imported by developed counties, including America, just

Disney World Parks May Sound Like An American Dream
Walking among thousands of smiling children and nostalgic parents through the Main Streets of
the U.S.A. at Disney World parks may sound like an American Dream, but upon closer
examination, the economics of Disney World may leave someone s stomach more unsettled than
the park goers who have eaten four Mickey bars and a jumbo turkey leg. Disney can be easily

In Greenville, Illinois, the local college campus holds a hidden gem: the Richard W. Bock

associated with him, including architectural drawings by Frank Lloyd Wright. The house itself

which efforts were made to remain true to the original design and decor of the home. One room
of the home has been set aside to house artifacts from the founders along with items from the

widely used in Chinese Medicine for thousands of years. It is made from the root of P. lactiflora
after boiling in water and peeling off the bark (China Pharmacopoeia Committee, 2010). Its
constituents have been recognized as valuable traditional herbal medicines used for the treatment of
diseases with a long history in TCM (Fang et al., 2009). Empirical evidence suggests that various
peony root preparations have broad therapeutic benefits for pain, muscle spasm, inflammation,
menstrual dysfunction, and neurodegenerative disorders, stroke (Wu 1985; Wu et al. 2010; Guo et
al.2012). These therapeutic benefits are believed to be mainly derived from its major constituents
that possess multiple pharmacological properties, in particular neuroprotective effects. To date,
more than 15 constituents have been identified from this Chinese herbal material, including the
isomers paeoniflorin (PF) and albiflorin (AF), are the main representative monoterpene glycosides
(structures see Fig. 1). Figure 1 The structures of albiflorin and paeoniflorin. The loss of
neurological functions is caused by massive loss of neurons resulting from stress reaction and
other reasons. Up to now, several hypotheses have been put forward, such as Ca2+ overload,
oxidative injury, excitotoxicity, protein misfolding, apoptosis (). A complex interplay between
different factors and signal cascades results in neuronal cell

Night Owl Research Paper
When my mom was pregnant with me she worked nights and sleep all day and I Think from her
doing that makes me a night owl because I can do that no matter how tired I am I can do it. My
dad said he likes it when my mom was pregnant with me because when they slept I would always
kick my dad in the back and the house was clean and quiet. But my mom had high blood pressure
with me and so she had to take it easy but she really didn t that much because one day my dad
was gone and she was on bed rest but all she could do was look at dirty dishes from her room and
it drives her crazy so she got up and did them and that was bad for her and me. Then my grandma
came over to check on her and she found her doing the dishes but then my grandma started doing
them for her.
My mom told me when she went into labor with me it was on one of the hottest days of the
summer and it was going to be my birthday and we were in one of my dad s old cars which I think
is cool because that was the first car I got to ride in on the way home. When they got to the hospital
my mom was ready to go but they had to give her a C section and which is worse the regular birth.
My mom said when she first woke up she said it felt like a dump truck has run over her over and

Response To The Abortion Debate
The discussion that started in class on October 14, 2012 was in response to the issue of abortion,
since both Vice President Joe Biden and Congressman Paul Ryan being Catholics were asked what
their position on abortion was and how their views on abortion as Catholics would affect how their
administration would deal with the issue of abortion. BidenпїЅs answer was what I found to be
quite diplomatic since he one hand stated that he accepted his churchпїЅs position on abortion, yet
at the same time claimed that just because he has certain views on abortion doesnпїЅt mean he has
the right to enforce his beliefs on others who donпїЅt adhere to his faith. RyanпїЅs response to the
question of abortion started out with him saying that he doesnпїЅt see how he can separate his
private life from his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
IпїЅm not sure if I would have used the word hypocritical since saying two different things would
definitely be inconsistency rather than hypocrisy, at least to me. However, my personal reaction to
the debate didnпїЅt see a problem in what Biden was saying. Just because a person may hold a
belief about something doesnпїЅt mean he canпїЅt allow others to feel differently about that very
subject. This could exactly be what Vice Presidential Joe Bidenwas trying to say in his response to
the abortion question in the debate. If anything Paul RyanпїЅs inconsistency should have been
addressed in class since he as Joe Biden pointed out during the debate said at one point that
abortion should not be allowed even in situations like rape, yet in the debate was saying something
else. However, as I observed there were also those, unlike me, who agreed with the professorпїЅs
view towards Joe BidenпїЅs take on the abortion

Life That Saw The Rise Of The Dinosaurs
The chapters of life that saw the rise of the dinosaurs is one of the most fascinating periods in the
history of our planet. It is often the subject brings about a child s first exposure to science. When
the children learn about the prehistoric beast attractive, one of their main requirements related to
the cause of their destruction, What could have led to the collapse of all creatures, living very
successful for millions of years? This question has plagued experts and curious children as well as
for decades
Dinosaurs: How they became something extinction occurred 65 million years ago, in the late
Cretaceous period, something very terrible that it changed the course of life on Earth. It seems like it
happened so suddenly, like geological time away, but almost all the dinosaurs lived on Earth
disappeared. So how dominant creatures just die? It has to be a slow extinction, or it happened all
of the sudden? These questions bring arouse many different beliefs about how dinosaurs
disappeared 65 million years ago. Extinction itself is easy to determine: When birth rates do not
keep pace with mortality, it is called extinction. However, the definition does not answer the
question about the nature or cause of the extinction. The second type of extinction is known as mass
extinctions. There are four main components to participate: A large number of extinct species;
variety of species extinction; the work must be global; and effects must occur within a short period
of geologic time.1

What challenges have you experience when using understanding by design consultation
framework? These questions were raised from the logic model created, which was based on the
goals of the understanding by design training program. The evaluation should be conducted to see if
the program outcome were achieved and to answer questions based on the program objective goals
and outcomes. The stakeholders want to identify if the program objective were meet and if the
outcomes were acquired. Also they want to know the strengths and the weaknesses of the program
implementation. The purpose of the evaluation is undeniably to measure the outcomes, evaluate
processes, assess the needs and challenges. These questions will impact the program evaluation and
they cover the main goal of why the program was implemented in the first place. They cover the
program objective and its goals. What is not being evaluated is the financial cost of training
implementation and ongoing support. At this stage, financial cost are not pertinent to the
evaluation process because the training is going to be the new design framework and it is part of
the onboarding training for new hire. The standards identify are reflected in the evaluation

The Teaching Style Of Walt Whitman
Beliefs and teaching styles have been developed throughout the years, every year that it has been
passed down it has continually changed from person to person, some changes are subtle while
others are very drastic changes to something that was once so simple. Surely Christ was a teacher
of sorts, but Socratesis a very good start to all of this, a great Greek philosopher with many great
ideas that were later passed to Plato, who wrote what we now call Apology, a result of the trial that
Socrates went through in the days of Ancient Greece. This whole process has been continuing for
years and years and even still continues today into the modern day as teachers strive to find the best
methods to teach their students, who are some points can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He brings forth the idea that we need to get to a point where we no longer need the teacher so
that we are able to teach ourselves what others are not capable of teaching us. Is the need of a
teacher true, or is it just another challenge that society has set up for us to overcome? In a passage
that many like to call, Destroy the Teacher , Whitman quotes, He most honors my style who learns
under it to destroy the teacher. Perhaps, in some ways, it is better to destroy the teacher and to
begin learning by ourselves and experiencing everything for ourselves, after all, experiences are
better than just sitting a classroom and attempting to soak the information up like a sponge.
When being self taught, there is more information present to the person, while being in a
classroom would provide learning with some restrictions, well, maybe a lot of restrictions.
Whitman himself was a teacher, his influence has spread to many individuals and Janice Trecker
in her paper reports, The messianic Walt Whitman of the poem had a message that he clearly
believed was vital, and, in fact, the form he chose proves highly effective as a teaching device.
Whether Whitman would ve seen himself as a teacher or not is entirely a mystery because we are
unable to ask him how he thought of himself, but even if he would ve liked it, he was a good
teacher to future writers.
The next piece needed to critique Whitman s pedagogy properly is the real meaning behind the
form of government that we

Kamehameha had enough food to eat and enough for his people. He started trading with foreign

The Influence Of Living In A Small Town
Imagine growing up in a small town where everyone knows everyone s business and the nearest
Wal Mart is almost an hour away; then imagine attending a school where the amount of student
attending is the same number of people who occupy a small town. The size difference is
substantial and plays an important role. When I was younger, I had attended both a small town
school and a school in the city. I have had the chance to experience the different lifestyles of these
two variations of living. The development of who I am today was because of my surroundings. In
the city, I noticed there was different opportunities. The opportunities seemed more readily
available depending on funding and sources; which are dependant on the location. Education,
development, and opportunities are widely known to be affected by environmental factors; thus,
people who live in the city have a different experience than those who reside in small towns.
There are many stereotypes associated with people who live in the city and people who live in a
small town. A lot of stereotypes lean towards people who grow up in a small town do not have
the chance to receive a finer education, or everyone who lives in the city are rude and arrogant.
On contrary to these stereotypes, people raised in a small town can receive an adequate education
and not everyone who lives in the city is rude. Personally, when I transferred from a middle school
with a 1000 students to a school who had roughly 300 students I noticed

Pieter Claesz Still Life
A quick glance at the Still Life (1643) by Pieter Claesz (figure 1) reminds me of his Still Life
with Oysters and Roemer (1642) (figure 2). The environment looks familiar, because they both
depicted similar objects against the same wall, the same light source and perhaps the same table.
A silver plate with three pieces of oysters, accompanied by a knife on the left, always occupies
the middle foreground of the table; behind the plate of oysters is always a gleaming Roemer that
is placed on the left across from a piece of bread. I also see pepper spreading out from its newspaper
packing, and at the back, a pinch of salt sitting in a metal container while topping the brim.
I think the meaning(s) of the Still Life (1643) lie(s) in the comparison ... Show more content on

Nevertheless, I feel Hochstraser would stand out and warn me not to be fooled by those fancy
objects appearance or underestimate little things value. She would direct me to look at the pepper
on the table and think about the labors and lives cost on the way from its homeland to Dutchmen s
table. On the one hand, a Dutch merchant would be encouraged by the abundant still life painting to
invest in more voyage and goods from Dutch colonies; on the other hand, due to the
underestimation of the cost and labor on the importing activity, Dutch people yet never realized
the bankruptcy that awaited nearby. Thus, everything is expensive in the Still Life (1643).
However, I wondered if the bread has shown traces of getting consumed by someone, then why
not everything? I suppose originally there were five oysters presented in the table, but only two
were needed and perhaps the pearl was from one of the eaten ones. I suppose the Roemer was
filled nearly to the top with liquor yet the consumer only sipped a little out of it. I suppose that the
consumer may not even need the pepper and salt, because, as Still Life with Oysters and Roemer
(1642) suggests, I did not see pepper gets grinded and salt gets sprinkled on the plate. Then I
questioned: if the consumer does not need the salt, why does he/she have it on the table with a
luxurious container whose appearance surpasses its function? Although Hochstraser

The Black Of Black Crimes
Black crimes in America are caused solely by the actions of black people. The previous statement
is said throughout both rural and urban American, and it is based off of uneducated and racist
ideologies. The criminal actions of blacks are partly contributed to their own decision making,
though the same holds true for criminals of all races. However, black people in America have the
longest lasting and most destructive history of racismtowards them in modern American history, and
this has led them to be the most poverty stricken racein America. Black people in America are the
most poverty stricken race by percentage, with 27.2 percent of the racial population in 2012 and
2013 (U.S. Census). However, in order to discuss why nearly one third of blacks are in poverty,
then the history of racism towards blacks must be discussed. Additionally, how racist actions of
oppression has placed many blacks in a degrading, and devaluing situation that continually
promotes poverty and crime shall be discussed too (Grabbidon and Grenne, 177). From 1641 up
until 1865 Africans were captured by slavers and sold into slaveryon Southern American
plantations. British colonials viewed them as no more than personal property, as the Africans
were not under British rule and were not protected under British law (History). Thus, during this
time period blacks in slavery did not hold any rights at all (History). Those who were able to buy
their freedom were treated as second class

American Red Cross Mission Statement Analysis
The American Red Cross is an organization that provides disaster relief for communities as well as
supporting military families, health education, and giving blood to people that could potentially
save their life. The American Red Cross was founded by a woman names Clara Barton on March
21st 1881. When the American Red Crosswas first established they utilized life boats, donated
clothing, and medical supplies for families who have been devastated by disasters such as floods,
disease, tornados etc. Later after World War II, the American Red Cross then began to collect
blood donations to give to patients who had lost mass amounts of blood and in today s society the
American Red Cross supplies 40% of the blood product in the United States(A brief history of the
American Red Cross, 2014). The American Red Cross is governed by the Board of Governors

neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality (Governance, 2014). These

to help others should live by these principles as well. This means that they re purpose is to help
the person who is in need to the best of their ability and make the person they are helping feel
safe and secure when they are receiving aid. I believe that a person who gives back to their
community is rewarded with the satisfaction of knowing that they did what was humanly possible
to lift the spirits of the individual or community they are helping by instilling hope that there are

After reading the passage above on the neon candy bar which are causing children to become
hyper. All three hypothesis sound valid but the candy bar company conducted an experiment of
their own which was, giving the group of children a candy bar with less amount of sugar in it,
the children still were higher. This leads me to think that either the ink or food coloring is to
blame for the hyperactivity from consuming the neon candy bar. I don t think the ink could impact
on this as much as believed by developer C for we would have to find out what was the packaging
exactly made of. My hypothesis is that the children would be less hyperactivity after consuming a

One of the mirror is a stationary mirror and other one is a movable mirror. The beam splitter is used
to transmit half of the light and reflect half of the light. Subsequently, the transmitted light and the
reflected light strike the stationary mirror and the movable mirror. When reflected back by the
mirrors, two beams of light recombine with each other at the beam splitter.[27]
If the distances travelled by two beams are the same, it means that the distances between two
mirrors and the beam splitter are the same and the situation is defined as zero path difference
(ZPD). But imagine if the movable mirror moves away from the beam splitter, the light beam
which strikes the movable mirror will travel a longer distance than the light beam which strikes
the stationary mirror. The distance which the movable mirror is away from the ZPD is defined as
the mirror displacement and is represented by ∆. It is obvious that the extra distance travelled
by the light which strikes the movable mirror is 2∆. The extra distance is defined as the optical

  • 2. Martin Real Property Case Martin s legal troubles in terms of his property are, although unfortunate and stressful, displaying signs of hope that this will turn out well for him in the long run. The foreclosure and trespassing on his mountain cabin property, the confiscation of his coastal property by the city of Wilmington, NC, and the stealing of his personal propertyfrom the seafood restaurant all have evidence that will point out in Martin s favor. Mountain Property In regards to the mountain property, Martin and his friends purchased acres 31 years ago as joint tenants with a right of survivorship. Now, according to law, each participant in the joint ownership has an equal amount of land, and if one of them dies their land will divide up among the surviving participants. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Martin s property was confiscated by the city of Wilmington, NC and conveyed to the Tar Heel Family Resort company for developing their resort. Martin s and his neighbors properties were torn down and provided with just compensation for the value of the property. Legally, the government, state or federal, may confiscate personal property for the sole purpose of public use; if the property s confiscation was for usages other than for public accommodations it s thereby illegal and unconstitutional. The Fifth Amendment s Taking Clause covers this, which is to protect property owners from the most significant costs of legal transitions (Serkin, 2015). The process of taking the property is condemnation and the right to do it is eminent domain. However, in terms of whether the right exists, the government must prove that the confiscation was for public use of the land. Within the development plans of the resort it only states that it provides vacationing venues and possible job creations. If Martin reviews the North Carolina s statutes he will find that the private owners who possess authorization to confiscate the property must be corporations dealing with installations of public utilities such as railroads, streets, and power lines, educational institutions, franchised motor vehicle carriers or union bus station companies ... • 3. Child Labor Is The Lack Of Intergenerational Human Capital... Introduction Developed countries have a conception that child labor is highly exploitative and is driven by long hours in deplorable conditions in sweat shops, prostitution rings, and rebel armies. While this perception has been very effective at raising awareness and action on the issue of child labor, it is quite misleading as only a small percentage of wage labor is of such an exploitative nature. It is imperative to take a more nuanced view of child labor and accept that it is not inherently bad as the current stigmatized view of the issue would suggest. I will argue that while there are necessary, and at times, good utilizations of child labor, high rates of this phenomenon tend to be ultimately detrimental to the child, household, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then, I will discuss how the informal sector is intimately tied to child labor and presents unique obstacles for creating effective change. Lastly, I will take up considerations in the policy process revolving around child labor and ultimately offer policy initiatives that would be effective at limiting rates of child labor. Child Labor as a Crucial Development Issue It is undeniable that some children work in circumstances that are highly exploitative and detrimental to their well being. Most economists, policymakers, and even laypersons throughout much of world will agree that swift policy is necessary to minimize the suffering of these children. Although there are moral considerations in the most deplorable of these scenarios, many instances of child labor fall outside the purview of this narrow conception. A large portion of child labor is characterized by children working limited hours in conditions dictated by parents or other family members. Although these circumstances are not universally better, it seems reasonable to expect that parents would protect their children to some extent especially considering maximizing rates of return on their investments to the child. Child labor, thus, must be considered not as undoubtedly negative, but as a morally neutral necessity in some developing countries. Nonetheless, we must consider that there is indeed a toll that is not just physical but also psychological for these children; even at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Deontological And Teleological Ethics Introduction This essay will include the background and development of deontological and teleological ethics. Also, it will compare and contrast the absolute and relative ethics. Finally, it will contain the ethical issues which can affect the operational activities of the business. In order to support the points, it will also include the real life examples. AC 1.1 Background and development of ethical approaches Teleological ethic this describes an ethical theory which judges the rightness of an action in terms of an external goal or purpose. So, according to a teleological theory, consequences always play some part, be it small or large, in the determination of what one should or should not do. Not all teleological theories are consequentialist. John Rawls theory of justice is teleological, but not consequentialist because it claims that consequences are only part of what must be considered when determining what policy is morally just. For example, animal testing is the moral choice to put animal through pain or not. The reason behind defining animal testing in a make up factory it is for a greater good as if the animal gets hurt now, people are saved later as people will be able to use the products that are developed and safe to use later. This is teleological because the moral choice was decided upon the probability of a good outcome: the animal is tested upon, people would be able to get a safe makeup products. A consequentialist action is one where the being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Bicameral System In The Australian Government System The Australian government system has been originally created in 1901 through the Constitution. With the fundamentals carved in the Constitution, the Australian System is often referred to as a Washminster System as it is a hybrid of the Washington (US) and Westminster (UK) system of government. With the fusion of North America and the United Kingdom s government systems, the phenomenon of the bicameral system was implemented in the Australian system. Bicameralisms origins are from England and it was later established in the United States. Hence, the onset of the Australian system s structures was anglocentric by reflecting the foundations and concepts of England. However, the concept of bicameralism is known to have existed since medieval times and has since been in the chronical of the Western political progress for centuries. Bicameralism is an important system in the Australian government. It refers to a government which consists of two chambers, or houses. Alike North America, the houses are known as the House of Representatives (the lower house) and the Senate(the upper house). On the other hand, in the United Kingdom, the chambers are known as the House of Commons (the lower house) and the House of Lords (the upper house). In 1789, North America altered their constitution in order to ratify how the American citizens were represented. Through bicameralism, the House of Representative would represent the people equally by population, whereas the Senate would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This horse is mostly known for being used as race horses. These horses are commonly known to be used in flat racing throughout North America. Though this is how many people know them, this is not all the thoroughbred can do. This is an amazing breed that is known to be able to do many different things. Thoroughbreds also have a unique style of how they are built and how they (Blocksdorf n.p.). Dressage is when the horse and rider do patterns in an arena and the rider is able to make the horse look like it is dancing. This is one of the most difficult things that you can train a horse to do. Hunting or hunter jumping is when the horse and rider compete in a long cross country jumping course. Lately in media, there has been several multiculturalism disputes surrounding Muslims. The disputes are regarding whether or not Muslims should be permitted to wear burqas. Many would concur that prohibiting burqas is discriminating against Muslims rightsin choosing religion. In a multicultural society such as America, individuals should be free to express their own religious faith and display religious symbols such as burqas. The reason for Elauf not obtaining the job was because of her headscarf. The headscarf conflicted with the company s look policy, a code derived from Abercrombie s focus on what it calls East Coast collegiate or preppy style (Liptak). Elauf did not reference her headscarf in the course of her interview and did not specify that she would need an accommodation from the Look Policy. Elauf s interviewer likewise did not comment on the headscarf, though she made contact with the district manager, who advised her to decrease Elauf s evaluation on the appearance portion of the application. Decreasing Elauf s evaluation in turn lowered her overall score and prevented her from acquiring the job. Due to these circumstances, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued Abercrombie and Fitch on Elauf s behalf. Ultimately, this case made it to the Supreme Court level in 2015. The Supreme Court ruled against the merchant Abercrombie and Fitch, whom may have violated workplace discrimination laws when it turned down a Muslim job applicant because she wore a hijab. • 10. Usui Reiki Research Paper THE CONCEPT OF REIKI Reiki is a Japanese form of stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing through the laying on of hands. Despite being often referred to as spiritual healing, reiki is a secular practice and is unrelated to any religion or faith system. Rather, it centres on the belief that all beings are created and sustained by a universal life force energy, which, if disrupted, weakened or blocked, can result in emotional and/or physical dis ease. Reiki practitioners act as a channel for this energy, which flows through them and into the recipient via a series of hand positions relating to the seven main chakras, which in turn are linked to the body s endocrine system, thereby restoring the energetic balance and encouraging the body to self heal. • 12. Pandora Compare And Contrast Essay Another important requirement for the process of natural selection among species is having a variety of traits. The variation of traits to be selected upon by the environment allows for the changing of allele frequencies among the generations of the population. One of the main sources for genetic variation is sexual reproduction, which occurred between members of the Na vi and members of the Thanator species. Sexual reproduction among members of a species can lead to genetic mutations in the DNA, which can attribute to the variability of genes. One obvious variable trait among the hominid species of Pandora is their height. The males were typically seen to be taller in height than the females, but with each member having a different height the trait can vary among offspring. If the environment demands for taller offspring then it will naturally select for that trait among individuals,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I feel as if my peer mentoring gears are finally revving up as I m starting to understand how to be a successful peer mentor. The reason, I think, for my recent success as a peer mentor and the collaboration with the peer mentoring team is due to the weekly articles. With the weekly articles, I m able to realize what made previous collaborations in my life so successful and what made the more unfavorable groups unsuccessful. This has allowed me to focus more on the successful traits by having the knowledge of it in my mind and steer away from the bad traits. In all of my past successful collaborations, each member had a mutual respect for each other, enjoyed each other presence, and worked together in an appropriate manner. There was an obvious tension between us that made me want to disprove or reject any idea they would suggest, even if it was good. Although we managed to put aside our differences to finish the project, not many positive memories remained from that collaboration other than the negativity and awkwardness between us. I understand how tension in a group could harm the collaboration as it may lead to the rejection of positive ideas or worse case scenario, sabotaging the project. Working in an atmosphere of stress definitely does not promote insightful and efficient learning. To summarize my second reflection, I have learned the importance of the three ingredients for a successful collaboration. Through elaborating on how each ingredient relates to an event in my life, I believe it further strengthened my appreciation for both the article and collaborating in general. This analysis looks into how Phelps image was saved by his public relationsteam; their quick actions led him to a continued career with a multitude of sponsors. Joseph Walsh and Shelia M. The main objective would be to see if the public reacts the same depending on the sports background of male athletes. First, I would go to google and research male athletes who are accused of the same, or similar crimes whether that be drug offenses, DUI, or a domestic dispute. To avoid any biases in my conclusion, I would need to go to different locations to ask diverse races, genders, ages these questions. To begin the survey process, I would start with basic questions to grasp the gist of how much the participant knows/cares about sports with their age, sports knowledge, and teams there are fans of. I would take 3 men with similar offenses, if not identical, and survey the public to see how they reacted when the story broke whether or not they are still a fan, whether they believe they will not do it again, whether or not they believe their apology to the world was sincere, etc. These questions would be short yes or no questions to ensure that the end results will be more conclusive then questions that ask the person to go more in ... Consequently, Antony and Cleopatra (Anotny s wife) commit suicide. With the victory at the Battle of Actium, Octavian was now sole ruler of Rome and all its provinces. • 17. The Theory Of Attachment Proposed By John Bowlby And Mary... The lectures, discussions in class, and chapter readings highlighted the importance of one of the characteristics of human nature, which is relationships and attachment. The course materials emphasized the critical role of relationship and attachment to the development of the children. The internship site also provided an opportunity for me to visualize different attachments and relationships between parent and child in action. As the chapter readings from the textbook explore different perspectives of relationship and attachment proposed by various theorists, the class discussions and lectures furthered my understanding and knowledge of parent child relationships. In chapter 3, the theory of attachment proposed by John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth is explored. First, Bowlby s theory of attachment was influenced by the ethological theorist, Darwin, Lorenz, and Tinbergen, who were previously mentioned in the chapter. Bowlby emphasized that behaviors found in animals, such as seeking close proximity from mothers to reduce the chance of becoming a prey, can also be found in toddlers. For example, Bowlby defined that actions such as following, crying out, and clinging found in children are displayed in order to keep close distance to parents is called attachment behaviors. Bowlby incorporates imprinting and instincts, which are ethological terms, to explain different phases of attachment. Our President s emphasis on again shows his ideas that we need to refer back to the roots of our country. President Abraham Lincoln once said that, The legitimate object of government is to do for the people what needs to be done, but which they can not, by individual effort, do at all, or do so well, by themselves. It is time to take a look back at our country s rich history of free and fair elections, participation of citizens in the government, and the importance of human rights. • 20. Age Specific Reproduction The effects of age specific breeding and matriarch presence on elephant reproduction Introduction Although Robinson et al. was not able to determine the overall the long term effects of early life reproduction, they provided results that show the immediate effects of age specific reproduction. The impact of reproduction on younger females is an important part of elephant survival, however, it is the impact of reproduction over time that provides understanding of the future of elephant populations. In order to show the later life effects of reproduction, Hayward et al. studied the survival of calves and annual breeding success of elephants throughout their lives and into their older age. Background Elephant populations in the wild are declining ... Hayward et al. also used the Myanmar timber camp Elephas maximus to perform the research, looking at the records of 416 reproductive captive born mothers and their offspring. The elephants used were from 8 regions of the Myanmar timber camps with the youngest breeding being 5 years of age and the oldest being 53. The mean age at the first birth of offspring was 19.48 years with the maximum number of lifetime calves being 10 calves. Hayward et al. discovered that individuals who didn t produce calves before the age of 19 had lower calf survival than those who produced one or more calves before the age of 19. Although beginning reproduction earlier in life is correlated with a shorter lifespan, the cost is outweighed with higher annual breeding success as well as increased calf survival (Hayward et al). The investment of energy and resources into breeding at an early age increases the chance of calf survival but also results in shorter lifespans compared to those who begin reproduction later in life (Hayward et al.). Based on the findings, the costs of early life reproduction are offset by higher lifetime breeding success in younger elephants. The breeding success of younger elephants can be attributed not only to early reproduction, but also to older females in a herd. While Hayward et al. observes the effects of young ... The ad interim government of the new Republic of Texas and much of the civilian population fled eastward ahead of the Mexican forces. The conflict arose after Antonio LГіpez de Santa Anna abrogated the 1824 constitution of Mexico and established martial law in Coahuila y Tejas. The Texians resisted and declared their independence. It was Sam Houston s responsibility, as the appointed commander in chief of the Provisional Army of Texas (before such an army actually existed), to recruit and train a military force to defend the population against troops led by Santa Anna. Residents on the Gulf Coast and at San Antonio de BГ©xar began evacuating in January upon learning of the Mexican army s troop movements into their area, an event that was ultimately replayed across Texas. During early skirmishes, some Texian soldiers surrendered, believing that they would become prisoners of war but Santa Anna demanded their executions. • 22. Mortality In Virginia Woolf s The Death Of The Moth Mortality and the Moth Death is unwelcome news for all human beings, but at the same time, it is an unavoidable incident that everyone should accept. About this statement, some people might argue that the death is a part of people s life, while people cannot avoid it. In The Death of the Moth , Virginia Woolf, the writer of the essay, claims that people should be aware of mortality and accept the death with a deferential attitude through the observation of the little moth s death throes. The key concepts of the essay release as the writer illustrates her attitudes that change chronologically as she comprehends the moth s fierce fight with death. By introducing the essay with a brief but detailed description of a pleasant morning, mid September (125), she leads the readers to get the background idea of the moth s upcoming fate. Initially, Woolf s feeling towards the moth was pity and pathetic. The sentence, ... his zest in enjoying his meager opportunities to the full, pathetic. (125), describes how the author perceives a moth as a trivial, minor creature. However, after she encounters and apprehends the moth s furious fights against death, her feeling shifts toward admiration and respect. ... This gigantic effort on the part of an insignificant little moth, against a power of such magnitude, to retain what no on else valued or desired to keep, moved one strangely (127). Eventually, the essay concludes with author s claim on death s strangeness: the true nature of life and death and the motivational attitude towards the death. Hence, in this paper, I will explore how Woolf expresses her appreciation towards the moth and the death, and examine the definitions of the life and the death through the relationship between the moth and Woolf. Throughout The Death of the Moth, the main theme is derived from the observation and recognition. By observing the moth s little movement to revive, Woolf recognizes the connection between life and death, and the receptive attitude towards the death. We usually do not really care or learn a lesson from a moth s behavior. We usually think a moth is a little, insignificant creature. Same as readers, Woolf initially dismisses and devalues the moth and his motions. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Her honor is disgraced for her actions and Claudio will no longer accept her as his wife because of the dishonor she has caused him. Shakespeare uses both Claudio and Leonato to represent the males of the time and the honor code they were held to. Claudio is in no way held to the same pre marital expectations as Hero, which, at the time, was the case for all men. For instance, when Hero is accused of being with a man prior to her marriage, no one questions what man and, quite frankly, no one cares what man. Shakespeare also shows how men are judged and given honor based on how their women act. When Leonato learns of the accusations his daughter receives on her wedding day he scolds her and says, Wherefore? Why doth not every living thing Cry shame upon he? Could she here deny The story that is printed in her blood? Do not live, Hero; do not open thine eyes... Why had I not with charitable hand Took up a beggar s issue at my gates, Who smirched thus and mired with infamy, I might have said, no part of it is mine; This shame derives itself from unknown lions ? (IV, i) This quote shows how a father at that time would wish to have no part of his daughter for committing such acts because he knows of the dishonorable reputation he will receive as a result. Logging tropical hardwoods like teak, mahogany, rosewood and other timber for furniture, building materials, charcoal and other wood products is big business and creates big profits. Several species of tropical hardwoods are imported by developed counties, including America, just to build coffins which are then buried or burned. The demand, extraction and consumption of tropical hardwoods has been so massive that some countries which have been traditional exporters of tropical hardwoods are now importing the wood because they have already exhausted their supply by destroying their native rainforests in slash and burn operations. It is anticipated that The Philippines, Malaysia, The Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Thailand will all run out of rainforest hardwood for export within the next five years. In addition to logging for exportation, rainforest wood stays in developing countries for fuel wood and charcoal. Disney World Parks May Sound Like An American Dream Walking among thousands of smiling children and nostalgic parents through the Main Streets of the U.S.A. at Disney World parks may sound like an American Dream, but upon closer examination, the economics of Disney World may leave someone s stomach more unsettled than the park goers who have eaten four Mickey bars and a jumbo turkey leg. Disney can be easily compared to the roots of a tree, as its company is continuously growing into every area it can absorb from in this case, absorbing money. Disney has an industry in the entertainment business, the tourism business, the amusement parkindustry, and so much more. A company with accessibility in as many markets as Disney possesses is on its way to gaining a large amount of market power. This could be a red flag as it is not unlikely that market power can go hand in hand with monopolization, so should we be scared of the progression of Disney as a company? When the movie Frozen was released in November of 2013, Elsa and her sister, Anna, became the world s most successful product endorsers. Not only did Disney make over 1 billion dollars in lifetime grosses worldwide for the movie release alone, but they utilized their versatile market to milk this cow as much as they could. • 36. Descriptive Essay About The Walk The Walk 25, 24, 23, 22 as I m watching the numbers drop on the screen, the anticipation and nerves build up on the elevator. I look around for other girls dressed in the mandatory emerald green shirts, but only the red and yellow shirts obligatory for other choirs. My mind races as I envision about the doubts people had when I told them I was going. My teachers asking me if it was worth it to travel all the way to Philadelphia for some choir. Or my friends questioning me if this singing thing was substantial enough to miss a week of school right before exams. Is this really worth the experience? Scenarios start making themselves up in my mind. Are the girls going to be nice? Is everyone going to know someone else? Will I sit next to someone who hates my personality? Ding! Bumblebee parents, dressed in KodГЎly shirts like fans at a football game, only stare at their cell phones looking at the rigorous schedule that s set for their kids in the next few days. Blue shirts from the exclusive choir are like fireflies; They show up here and there, but there are never as many as people believe there are. Then there are the ladybugs in the green shirts. They are sporadically placed as if someone had tossed them up into the air and did not care where they would land. I squirmed past the crowd of solemn business men who look uncomfortable with the disarray happening behind them and came face to face with the ocean of colored shirts As I forced my way through the mass of colored shirts towards the giant glass doors on the other side, I begin to think about how I got to this place. I can remember being a little 5th grader ecstatic with the thought of getting my yellow shirt and being in a national choir. The irony is that people say you feel more confident with yourself as you get older. Back then, however, I wasn t nervous at all and felt completely confident with myself. The museum holds hundreds of pieces of work by Bock and those associated with him, including architectural drawings by Frank Lloyd Wright. The house itself is historical, as it is the home of the founder of Almira College, the predecessor (precursor?) of Greenville College (GC). Built in the mid 1850s, it went through a major renovation in 2005 in which efforts were made to remain true to the original design and decor of the home. One room of the home has been set aside to house artifacts from the founders along with items from the beginning years of the school. However, the main purpose of the building is to be a repository for the artwork of Richard W. Bock. Interestingly, although GC now owns the largest collection of his work, Bock never visited Greenville during his lifetime. Is the need of a teacher true, or is it just another challenge that society has set up for us to overcome? In a passage that many like to call, Destroy the Teacher , Whitman quotes, He most honors my style who learns under it to destroy the teacher. Perhaps, in some ways, it is better to destroy the teacher and to begin learning by ourselves and experiencing everything for ourselves, after all, experiences are better than just sitting a classroom and attempting to soak the information up like a sponge. When being self taught, there is more information present to the person, while being in a classroom would provide learning with some restrictions, well, maybe a lot of restrictions. Whitman himself was a teacher, his influence has spread to many individuals and Janice Trecker in her paper reports, The messianic Walt Whitman of the poem had a message that he clearly believed was vital, and, in fact, the form he chose proves highly effective as a teaching device. Whether Whitman would ve seen himself as a teacher or not is entirely a mystery because we are unable to ask him how he thought of himself, but even if he would ve liked it, he was a good teacher to future writers. On the one hand, a Dutch merchant would be encouraged by the abundant still life painting to invest in more voyage and goods from Dutch colonies; on the other hand, due to the underestimation of the cost and labor on the importing activity, Dutch people yet never realized the bankruptcy that awaited nearby. Thus, everything is expensive in the Still Life (1643). However, I wondered if the bread has shown traces of getting consumed by someone, then why not everything? I suppose originally there were five oysters presented in the table, but only two were needed and perhaps the pearl was from one of the eaten ones.
