Introduction A study was created on the difference between phenotypes in corn stalks. We planted
corn seeds to see what phenotype they would result in and record the data. Using statistical analysis,
we determined the expected and observed color of the stalks. There were some green and white. The
ratio we tested was 3:1, a monohybrid cross. This means the dominant trait is present 3 times, and the
recessive only one (NDSU 2000). The objective of this study was to compare our expected and
observed phenotypes between corn plants.
Methods Our methods were fairly simple. To make sure our results were accurate, we used three plant
pots to plant our seeds. We labeled the pots with our names and their cross numbers. Filling the pots
with soil, we made sure it was damp and not wet by squeezing the soil out and packing it in the pot
about half way. Then, we planted five seeds and spread them out, so they had room to grow. Lastly, we
covered the seeds with more soil, also packing it lightly but tightly. After the plants grew, we
examined and determined that our hypothesized ratio was 3:1 with a sample size of 38. Our
phenotypes were green and white. We used a Chi square analysis to determine our hypothesis. Null

Deviance, behavior that is outside of what is deemed socially acceptable, is necessary for stability and
social order in society this according to functionalist theorist Emile Durkheim (MindEdge, Inc., 2016).
Historically, society has generally been successful in providing motivation for individuals to aspire to
goals of some sort, whether through wealth, prestige or, perceived power (Henslin, 2011). However,
from a functionalist perspective, theories have been developed by identifying when lawful and equal
access is not afforded to certain individuals in the process of obtaining such goals. This restriction and
inequality to opportunity for access in the quest to achieve success is what is now referred to as
structural strain theory, which was developed by sociologist Robert Merton (Henslin, 2011).
According to Merton, structural strain theory describes the resulting outcome or motivations
demonstrated through deviant behaviors, that arise when individuals are unable to reach these goals

skip iron crafting versions of things, and go straight to steel axes, and steel picks. I cannot do that
anymore. Now the requirements for getting steel make it so that I have to use iron tools for a

complicated skill especially for students who are non native of a particular language, which makes it

to the fact that writing comes at last as a skill in terms of its acquirement for both native and second

the classroom practices. One of these approaches is Systemic Functional Linguistics, which views
language as a set of systems, each of which offers people choices to express meanings (Bloor Bloor,
1995). This project is two case studies of an EFL classroom that is based on Saudi Arabia with the
intention of improving the academic writing concentrating on two persuasive genre writings, which
