Persuasive Essay 6Th Grade
Writing a persuasive essay for 6th grade can pose its own set of challenges. First and foremost,
catering to the intellectual and emotional level of sixth-graders requires a delicate balance. The
language and arguments must be engaging yet comprehensible, ensuring that the young audience
can grasp the message without feeling overwhelmed.
Choosing a persuasive topic that resonates with the interests and concerns of 6th graders adds an
extra layer of complexity. It demands a nuanced understanding of the age group's preferences,
ensuring that the essay captivates their attention and sparks genuine interest.
Crafting a compelling thesis statement that clearly conveys the main argument while being
suitable for a 6th-grade audience can be challenging. The essay must be structured in a way that
makes the points easy to follow and understand, incorporating evidence and examples that are
relatable to a 6th-grade perspective.
Moreover, keeping the tone persuasive without becoming overly forceful or didactic is essential.
Striking the right balance between authority and approachability is crucial to maintaining the
interest of the audience.
In conclusion, writing a persuasive essay for 6th grade demands a careful consideration of
language, topic selection, structure, and tone. It requires a skillful approach to make the essay
both accessible and compelling for the young audience it targets.

Sources of ancillary revenue include fees for baggage, ticket change, extra amenities,
annual subscriptions to premium services, frequent flyer programs (FFP), and even
on board duty free sales. Some of the more innovative sources (such as annual
subscriptions and FFP products like branded credit cards) generate handsome margins
for the airline and promote brand loyalty. Such strategies helped the airlines improve
profitability for 2013.
Improved profitability is allowing airlines to increase strategic investment for future
growth.
Airlines are boosting investments to enhance their customer product offering and
operating efficiencies. Example, in addition to new airplanes, airlines are investing in
new information and mobile technology, upgraded cabin interiors for higher levels of
service, and additional seats to improve unit costs. Some airlines are increasing equity
investment in other airlines and cross border partnerships to solidify and expand
networks. Reinvestment of profit into airline products enhances the long term growth
prospects for the industry.
Airline strategies and business models
Strategic planning is a continual process for airlines. Plans must take into account the
challenging and ever changing competitive environment as well as how passengers
define value. Example, Business travelers are sensitive to flight times and expect a
high level of service. Short haul business travelers
Teaching A Rural Area That Qualifies For Title I Funding
I teach in a rural area that qualifies for Title I funding, so you can imagine that I
serve where I am needed. I have taught all grades 4th 8th (content specific and self
contained), served as grade chairman, Teacher Advancement Program mentor (TAP),
intervention teacher (math), UIL coach, and even cheer sponsor. While I have
served as a classroom teacher for the past twenty years, my lessons go well beyond
my classroom. Through the Texas public educationsystem, I have had to interact with
parents on a daily basis, and most days that involves educating the parent as to what is
happening in their child s classroom. But, it is not just the student parent teacher
relationship that needs fostering; as educators we must continue to educate our own
whether they are a first year teacher or a veteran.
Through the years I have been given several opportunities to advance into
administration, but I have realized my passion lies in the classroom developing
students and teachers through servant leadership. I believe my realization happened
when serving as a Mentor Teacher through TAP. Being part of TAP, I realized that I
have much to offer other teachers, and I can serve peers without forfeiting service to
my students. This was quite a welcomed relief because servant leadership is what I
love, and I just happen to do that through education. Serving as a Mentor Teacher, I
welcomed the responsibility of ensuring our teachers were well educated on district
and state expectations, as

Gays Should Have A Positive Impact On A Child s Life
In our fast paced society the Norms are changing and evolving for Homosexuals and
their rights. Every child in foster care, and adoption agencies deserve to have a
family regardless of the parents Sexual orientation. The United States is considered a
liberal country if that is so, then homosexuals should have the right to adopt a child in
the United States.
Homosexuals adopting will have a positive impact on a child s life. The child will
finally have a stable home and family to grow up in. The article mentions how
children adopted by homosexuals are mentally stable. In the article Homosexusals
should be allowed to adopt they state Child experts point out gay men and lesbians
are just as good parent as Heterosexual peers (Hunt and Krehely). Homosexuals can
give as much love to a child as a heterosexual couple. A child will not grow up with
psychological problems they will institute themselves in society just like a child
who was raised by a Heterosexual couple. A child won t be traumatized because
they have two moms or two dads as parents. In fact, in the article A Family Does
Not Include a Mother and a Father she states along the lines of, adopted kids will
be more successful in their academics and will have less behavioral issue exhibited
in their teen and childhood (Friedrichs). Placing a child in a homosexual home will
let the child live in a more positive atmosphere it will let the child feel safer and
express more openly their feelings. This is a great
A Reasonable Explanation For Closed End Fund Puzzles
1.Introduction
Stock mutual funds consist of open end funds and closed end funds. There are
different operations between these two funds. Open end funds are purchased and
sold by investors directly, however, investors should purchase and sell closed end
fund via stock market, then stock market trade with closed end funds. Closed end
funds characteristics decide that investors should sell closed end funds to another
investors, once they want to switch funds to liquidity. The price of closed end funds
always meets some aberrant circumstances, which are called closed end fund puzzles.
Closed end fund puzzles summarize four abnormal phenomenons which occur in
funds price. Lee, Shleifer and Thaler (1991) state that three elements (agency costs,
tax liabilities and illiquidity of assets) may quote for explanations of these puzzles in
traditional finance. Nevertheless, they advocate that analyzing puzzles base on
behaviour finance, such as noise trader risk theory and individual investor sentiment
theory, can expound puzzles better.
This paper aim to find out a more reasonable explanation for closed end fund
puzzles. In part one, the description of puzzles will be given. Traditional standard
explanation will be introduced and discussed in part two. Part three will represent
explanation in behaviour finance methods. Part four will compare different articles
evidences and findings. Part five will make conclusions.

Violence has affects individuals from all Backgrounds, Genders, and Socio
economic statuses (Women Against Abuse, 2012). Therefore, Intimate Partner
violence may and can overlaps with poverty, homelessness, and job instability that

There is lack of housing which has widely spread poverty and high rates of

Literary Techniques Used In The Arctic Refuge By Jimmy...
Throughout his text, US President Jimmy Carter applies many types of literary
devices, and persuasive elements to help strengthen his point view as well as
appeal to his audience. He also displays his logical appeal in order to strengthen his
argument. This is shown through his personal anecdotes, facts, as well as the
personification of the nature and his choice of whimsical diction. As the passage
begins, Carter begins to paint a picture for the audience, using emotional appeal to
describe his time in the regions of the Arctic Refuge. He introduces his own personal
experience regarding the topic. Through sharing his own experiences, Carter
establishes a personal bond with the reader, which in turn would aid in the
persuasion of his opinion. He continues on by mentioning one of the most
unforgettable and humbling experiences of his life where him and his wife had
witnessed the migration of caribou. By revealing that one of his most unforgettable
experiences was also linked to the Arctic Refuge, he highlights the importance of
these experiences for others to have. By establishing a personal connection with his
audience, Carter is not only able to grasp their attention but also builds his credibility
easily, through his use of facts and examples.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

By describing his experiences as magnificent and timeless , he implies a whimsical

Essay about Ben Franklin
Ben Franklin
Ben Franklin is one of the most dynamic figures in the history of America. As a
philosopher, scientist, writer, inventor, diplomat, and more he had far reaching effects
on America and the world both in his time and today. Franklin was one of the first
people to recognize himself as American and distinguish the people of the new nation
as something more than British colonists. As an American, Franklin sought to
improve the country through the creation of institutions and the development of
personal moral and financial success for its citizens.

In this way, he sees religion not as an abstract or other worldly social concept but as
a function of society for its utility and usefulness. He does believe in G d and
thanks him for all that he has received but, similar to Frederick Douglass, is aware of
the falsehoods being taught in mainstream religion. For instance, he describes a local
ministers sermons as their aim seeming to be rather to make us Presbyterians than
good citizens. Although he did not believe in any one religion, he did feel that they
were good for the community and actively supported the Presbyterian minister,
Jewish temples, and other groups.
2.) Industry/Self Improvement: Franklin often can be seen assuming that any
effort will be successful if the proper amount of hard work is applied to it. He was,
however, aware that he had been very lucky and that few efforts would reach
fruition without some effects of luck. It is interesting to see how at every turn
Franklin had some sort of system or method laid out, followed it step by step, and
achieved the intended result. Many people today can think of what it would take to
be successful at something (say a sport or skill) but few know so thoroughly the
correct path to take and actually walk down it to its end. We observe this ability even
in his childhood. At the time, these attitudes toward

Rhetorical Analysis Of How To Be 100
It is quite interesting to know how long people live, and what is the average
lifespan of a human being. Dan Buettner longevity expert in his presentation How
to Live to Be 100+ argues the lifestyle from the world s longest lived people and
provide a model for extending our longevity through natural movement and
purposeful living. He shows how we can compare our lifestyle to those living in
the Blue Zone s and what we can take away from their routines, diets, exercise and
other beliefs. In addition, it is important to look at our current lifestyle and habits, if
we are living in a way that is going to help us reach our potential maximum life span.
With the right lifestyle, there are chances that we may live up to a decade longer. I
agree with the Blue Zones lifestyle. In order to live longer and healthier we need to
exercise often but make it enjoyable, Avoid eating unhealthy food and establish a

For people in the blue zones it comes in natural as Buettner says, they were either
born into or they proactively surrounded with the right people (11). However, the
way to establish a healthier system is to surround yourself with family members
and good friends who you could share your stories with them. Having a good,
system of support not only enables peoples to help each other, but also enables
them to express their feelings, including happiness and sadness s and other aspect
of confidence. For example, when we are feeling bad everything in the world
seems differently to us, because our bad mood can affect our thinking process, but
talking to someone you trust or a good friend who shares your value could propose
a good solution that can help to reduce your stresses and find away to solve your
problem. Therefore, being connected with good people is a natural way to decrease
stress and improve quality of
Guns Control Against Gun Control
Many people die from gun related incidents every year. Thus, whether guns should
be controlled or not has been a converversonl topic for many years. People should be
allowed to protect themselves by owning guns, however there should be a restrictions.
People do have the the right to own guns to protect themselves. In an article entitled
Briefing: Armed and Dangerous The Week explains that the only way for a person to
protect themselves and or others from a person using a gun to harm others is for the
person to use a gun themselves: The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a
good guy with a gun (11). Also, in the article The Great Equalizer the author,
Charles C.W. Cooke, tells the story of an african american man who protected him
and his family in order to demonstrate that people should be able to own guns in
order to protect themselves: Or, as the Mississippi farmer and civil rights activist
Hartman Turnbow put it with more elan, by opening fire on Klan member who
were attacking his home I wasn t being non violent, I was just protectin my family
(Cooke 27). In addition, Cooke quotes a University professor named Charles E.
Cobb who has spend time with people who live in areas that are prone to attacks to
further explain that guns should be able to be kept in the owner s homes: I lived
with the families in the South. There was never a family I stayed with that didn t
have a gun. I know from personal experience and the experience and experiences of

NSDAP Memorabilia As A Collector s Delight
NSDAP Memorabilia as a Collector s Delight NSDAP was a Germany s political
party that worked from1920 1945. It stands for Nationalsozialistische Deutsche
Arbeiterpartei (National Socialist German Workers Party). They practiced the
beliefs of Nazism. These people fought against the uprising of the communism in
WW1. The Nazis were all about Pseudo scientific racism; means that they wanted to
unite the pure Germans and excluded the people who were inferior (physically or
mentally), political rebels or foreigners. These were the people who were the cause
of The Holocaust. The Nazi symbols consisted of Red and Black color, referring to
blood and soil and used the sign of Swastika. The Nazi s Party flag consisted of the
swastika in a white disk, surrounded by red color. The next symbol was of the

people are obsessed with everything related to the WW2, German Nazi Party and

1.People want to learn, know and understand about the WW2 and its history.
2.People are collecting this Nazi memorabilia, for fun as it is a different and unique
kind of collection and many people are shocked when they see such type of collection.
3.People also collect this to show the items that glorify the hatred, racism, intolerance,

Wine and the French Revolution
The popularity of wine in France continues to be a major mainstay in the French diet,
just as it was during the French Revolution. The French Revolution was a devastating
time for the French population; many lives were lost during the battle. France is
known for, other than the revolution, their production wine( French Wine Culture ).
Wine has an important role in their culture as well as their position on the social
ladder ( France). Wine also has a symbolic role in their religion. Therefore, France
is a popular country for the making and producing of wine, and has the reputation
as the Mother Country ( French Wine Culture ). Receiving this title did not happen
overnight; France has been producing and manufacturing wine for a long period of
time. Wine plays roles in many aspects of their society. For example, wine reflects
their heritage, region of birth, social status, and their health ( France ). Wine
resembles the differences between regions and their national pride ( France ). Not
only does the region reflect their heritage but it also helps determine the name of
the wine itself, as does the vineyard they are grown in ( French Wines ). Most
vineyards are very large. They typically cover a good portion of the land, with the
exception of the buildings that it is made in. Although France is known at the mother
country as a whole, there are still some regions that are more productive and
successful at making and distributing wine. Alsace, Beaujolais, and
Bram Stoker s Novel Dracula
Bram Stokers novel Dracula is an intriguing novel, which puts forth many ideas to
contemplate. Gender roles and the status of women in society are two values
immensely evident throughout the novel. The novel is based in the 1800s, a time in
history when a new uprising in feminine attitudes and ides was emerging. These new
women directly opposed the gender roleof women during the Victorian era. Although
this change was unfavourable and opposed, it went ahead and forever changed
feminine ideas in society. Stoker uses Lucy, Mina and the three vampirewomen to
portray the changes in society.
Women in the 1800s were stereotyped and confined to specific roles in society,
however it all changed. The 1800s in Victorian England, created an environment,
which encouraged stereotypes, aimed at women in which they were required to stay
at home and be The Angels of the House. Women were not only constricted to very
narrow gender roles where they are expected to be mothers, pure, naГЇve and
dependant on their husbands. Jobs such as teaching and nursing were seen as
women jobs only and these were the only jobs women should do. However, the
Industrial Revolution helped open a new era for women in society and this
allowed women to feel the need to stand up for their rights and challenge the
stereotypes of the society. Lucy Westenra is a typical young, beautiful girl whose
main aim is to marry and do what is accepted in society as a wife. She is seen as a
marginal figure whose
Political Parties And Its Influence On The Political Party
Since the founding of our country and the government we live by, political parties
have been present. These parties have had many influences on our government from
their formation. Some of these influences that the parties have had were good, other
were bad. Within our modern government, parties, have become a major impact and
have had much influence. These parties are present to push their agendas and
accomplish what they can through their influence on the government. The affect that
these parties have had on our government can be seen through their influence on the
three branches of government; the Executivebranch, the Legislative branch, and the
Judicial Branch. Political parties have a massive influence on the Executive branch,
or the president. The two party political system is the fore ground of our modern
presidential elections. This system determines the two major candidates that the
country ultimately chooses from for the presidency, either Republican or Democrat.
As the American Government textbook states the political parties kept a tight control
on the selection of a candidate (Krutz 454). This excerpt from the American
Government textbook shows that the influence the party system has on the Executive
branch is so great that it goes as far as to choose the candidates that the country gets
to vote for. The party chooses the candidates for the presidential electionby holding
primary elections where multiple people are put out for the states to vote, the
Why Are Greek Myths Important
Ancient Greek myths have always been popular with young readers. Whether you
believe the myths or not, Greek myths have always had an important purpose.
These are the most important three purposes of Greek myths. Some Greek myths
explain to us about things in nature, teach a moral or a lesson, and to tell about the
heroic qualities of gods, goddesses, and mortals. Greek myths teach us all valuable
lessons or subjects we first did not know. Some Greek myths explain to us about how
things in nature started out or how they work. Greek myths explain things nature so
we can have a better understanding of it. For example the myth of Arachne. This
myth tells us how spiders were made and why they weave so well. Arachne was a
splendid weaver. This myth explains things in nature because Athena poured the
magical liquid on Arachne, she turned into a spider. Athena poured the liquid on
Arachne because Arachne was mocking the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These myths tell us about heroic qualities so we can admire them or think of them
highly. The myth of Bellerophon tells us about heroic qualities because this myth
is about Bellerophon defeating the Chimera, a powerful beast. With the help of
Athena, Bellerophon got a pegasus and defeated the Chimera and saved his people
from this horrible monster. The Wooden Horse is telling us about heroic deeds
too. The Wooden Horse myth is heroic because it tells us about Odysseus s
wonderful plan. His plan was to leave a wooden horse, and in the horse a hidden
group of men. At night, the men came out of the horse and defeated the Trojan
army. This is totally a heroic deed. The myth, Perseus and Medusa, is about a heroic
action. It is an heroic action because Perseus killed a monster which most men feared
of. Medusa turned everything she saw into stone sculptors. These great Greek myth
are about a lot of different things but some of them are about heroic
Analysis Of Ask Me If I Care And Safari Essay
Women have a few common tropes in literature. Seen as submissive to men, and
sexualized because of it, women are presented as less than. While this has been
strayed from a little bit in modern literature with the engagement of queer writers, it
is still very much the normal view of women, due to a society in which the view on
women is that of being less than. The short stories Ask Me if I Care and Safari by
Jennifer Egan both perpetuate this idea of women as submissive. Egan presents
female characters who only exist in the context of men, thus leaving them to be seen
as inferior to the men. These tropes of women in literature, and Egan s use of them,
fit into the larger conversation: there is a degradation of women in literature due to
common conceptions of women in society.
Egan presents multiple female characters in Ask Me if I Care . The short story
touches on a group of friends, and in this group are the two characters of Rhea and
Jocelyn both female. While they may seem to be presented differently, Rhea as a
not interested in being sexualized character and Jocelyn as a sexualizes herself
character, both ultimately play into the trope of submissive and degraded women.
Rhea, from the beginning, is portrayed as needing men: Still, if it s Bennie and me
I hope for the back, so that I can push against his shoulder in the cold, and hold him
for a second when we hit a bump (Egan, Ask Me ). While this may seem innocuous,
it is the first introduction to Rhea. The very
Strategic Cost Advantage And Competitive Advantage
According to Michael Poter (cited in David 2011) the value chain can be best
described as the business of a firm, in which total revenues minus total costs of all
activities undertaken to develop and market a product or service . A strategic cost
analysis is the process whereby a firm determines the costsassociated with
organizational activities from purchasing raw material to manufacturing products to
marketing those products (David 2011, 119). The goal of this analysis is to
determine whether or not a company has a competitive advantage over its
competitors. This is done by identifying where, low cost advantages or disadvantages
that exist anywhere along the value chain from raw material to customer service
activities. Also the strategic cost analysis also enables the company to better identify
its own strengths and weaknesses.
Once a company is capable of producing goods at lower costs than the market price
within the industry, the company earns profits and it has a competitive advantage.
This advantage gives a company an edge over its rivals and an ability to generate
greater value for the firm and its shareholders. A company can also achieve a
competitive advantage if their core competence is ... Show more content on

Temperature Analysis Of Temperature During The Summer
Temperature Analysis
The expectations I held when first given this assignment are echoed in the conceptual
models presented in the guidance document: locations situated close to the ocean
ought to exhibit cooler temperatures during the summer months while maintaining
slightly warmer temperatures during the winter and that more inland locations should
display slightly higher temperatures within the summer time but lower temperatures
during the winter months. This expectation was largely influenced by the knowledge
I have incurred while living in a coastal area: wind and surf carry cooler air to the
coast during the summer while carrying warmer air to land during the winter. Upon

average winter temperature of 51.4 degrees, Devil s Garden is approximately 12
degrees cooler than Miami Beach s average minimum winter temperature of 63.6.
These locations, however, did not exhibit such a large disparity in summer time
temperatures with Devil s Garden s maximum average displayed at approximately
92 degrees and Miami Beach s maximum average displaying exactly 87 degrees.
Upon further investigation, it appears that the discrepancy in average temperatures
between the locations is perhaps caused by a sizable difference in latitudes with
Devil s Garden situated at 38.8 degrees north compared to Miami Beach situated at
25.8 degrees north. This divergence is the most likely responsible for Miami Beach s
high summer temperatures as areas in lower latitudes often experience warmer
weather in addition to the fact that the beach is located closer to the equator. To
compare coastal stations, it is clear that the second conceptual model is reasonably
correct when asserting

Observation Of Water In Sycamore Creek
On a still, warm morning our class set out on a hike to collect water and soil
samples to explore. Our water sample was collected from the first portion of
Sycamore Creek located on the Los Penasquitos Trail in Sorrento Valley.
Collecting 6 in. deep into the creek, we wanted to ensure that the sample in the
plastic test tube included soil, algae and vegetation from the floor. The sample was
allowed to sit uncapped and covered with a layer of film for 24+ hours before
microscopic observation occurred. Expectedly, the soil and a variety of dense
particles settled to the bottom of the test tube. Using a pipette we drew water from
the center of the sample, but making sure not to draw up any soil. Three separate
slides were prepared, each
Bell Tolls Bullfighting
For Whom the Bell Tolls, by Ernest Hemingway, was published in 1940. It is a
novel set in the Spanish Civil War, which ravaged the country in the late 1930 s.
Tensions in Spain began to rise as early as 1931,when a group of left wing
Republicans overthrew the country s monarchy in a bloodless coup. The new
Republican government then proposed controversial religious reforms that angered
right wing Fascists, who had the support of the army and the Catholic Church.
Hemingway traveled extensively in Spain, and grew very interested in Spanish
culture. Specifically, he writes about bullfighting, not only in this novel, but also in
his other works as well. While Hemingway s novels carry a common theme, For
Whom the Bell Tolls is no different. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Robert Jordan, as he nears his death knows that his time has come, and there is no
escaping his death. Another character, Anselmo feels the same way about his
nearly unavoidable death, And since we must win to survive ultimately, it is
necessary that the bridges must be blown (99). Anselmo explains to Robert Jordan
that the only way that they may survive the war is to win. In order to win, they
must carry out their dangerous assignment to blow up a bridge; otherwise their
foreseeable death will arrive. All characters in For Whom the Bell Tolls are ready
to make the ultimate sacrifice in the face of war and death. To sacrifice one s life
for their beliefs is something that takes bravery and pride. To go through the
hardships of war is to suffer for others. Anselmo explains, I suffer for others, as all
good men should (300). Anselmo believes that all men that are good and loyal to
their side of the war should suffer for those who cannot fight. Not only would he
sacrifice for others that share his beliefs, he would sacrifice his life for his
guerrilla band members, which demonstrates the idea of close companionship in
the face of death. Death is inevitable in every person s life, but death in these
character s lives is easily predicted to be early, and this represents the sadness and
sorrows in the innocence of war. There are many ways to die, and war is the saddest
way for that to occur, but at the same time,
Why Is John Dickinson Justified In Declaring Independence
As the desire for independence from Britain spread around the thirteen colonies,
regions began to make it clear that they had no desire to remain under British rule.
Colonies like Massachusetts, Delaware, and Rhode Island dabbled in the thought of
breaking away from this strict rule. Other places, like Georgia, Maryland, and the
Carolinas didn t rule independence out, but were also not actively seeking a chance
for it. Other colonies remained neutral, and open to hear the opinions of the other
colonies that were considering or ruling out the push for freedom. Ultimately the
states formed together to override British rule, but why were some states so hesitant
to independence? Before the Revolutionary War, Pennsylvania was most opposed to
the independence movement from Great Britain. Pennsylvania s secondary delegate,
John Dickinson, was the main cause of that anti independence movement. Dickinson
s view was that independence from Great Britain was treasonous action of the most
despicable kind (Pandel, n. d.). Dickinson did not want to upset other European
nations, such as Spain or France, which he thought would not accept America as an
independent nation. Another reason why John Dickinson believed that the colonies
should not declare independence was over the fact that the Colonial Army was not
trained enough to tackle the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Blast in Centralia No. 5
The Blast in Centralia No. 5: A Mine Disaster
No One Stopped
In 1907, two miles south of Centralia, Illinois was the Centralia Mine No. 5. The
Mine was there to provide coal during World War II. This particular mine employed
250 men and produced 2,000 tons of coal each day. During the next several years
there were several complaints made regarding the safety of the mine. On March 25,
1947, the mine exploded, killing 111 miners. (Stillman, 2010)
Driscoll O. Scanlan was one of the 16 state mine inspectors. Scanlan worked at The
Centralia Mine No. 5 as teen years before he became a mine inspector. Upon his
inspections of the mine, Scanlan realized the mine ... Show more content on

The CMA received a follow up stating that everything had been corrected. Another
letter was sent from the CMA asking for details in March of 1947. On March 25,
1947 the explosion occurred (Martin 1948). I believe that if someone actually went
to inspect these corrections that were made the explosion or the 111 causalities could
have been avoided.
Another possible path of action that Scanlan could have taken was to make his
concerns public. Scanlan s job is to serve as a public official. Therefore, in my
opinion, it is all right in certain instances to make the public aware of potential
dangers that may affect them and/or their loved ones. Scanlan had a lot of
information and notes stating that the mine had hazardous conditions, were unsafe,
and could possibly explode if the correct actions were not taken. This is the type of
information I feel like the public needs to be made aware of. This could have
possibly caused an outcry from the public to correct these conditions, as they are
concerned about the well being of the people in the community and its workers.
The Centralia Number 5 explosion was definitely an incident that occurred but
could have been prevented with the guidance and persistence of public officials
such as Scanlan. As a public administrator, and employer, or a supervisor it is your

The Consumer Federation Of America
Americans resoundingly reject non driving characteristics in determining auto
insurance rates.
If you re a low income American, chances are you re paying a lot more for auto
insurance than other citizens even if you have a similar driving record and address.
Those are the findings of the Consumer Federation of America (CFA) based on a
study released on Monday.
Low Income Status = Higher Insurance Premiums
The CFA evaluated minimum limits liability premiums shared by men and women
in 15 cities by five of the nation s largest auto insurers. Specifically, the CFA found
that premiums surged by an average of 59 percent, or $681 annually when
characteristics of the drivers were changed to denote a lower economic status. Auto
insurance is required in all states with New Hampshire the lone exception. Insurance
is regulated at the state level.
Insurance companies should judge you on how you drive, not who you are, said J.
Robert Hunter, CFA s Director of Insurance and former Texas Insurance
Commissioner. Insurance companies are penalizing good drivers by hundreds and
sometimes thousands of dollars each year based on economic and social status, and
the end result is that the poor pay more, much more.
Five Non Driving Factors Auto insurers use five factors when developing quotes for
consumers. They are: level of education, occupation, homeownership status,
ownership of a car during prior six months, and marital status.
The CFA found that drivers with the same driving
Comparing Charles And Miss Awful By Arthur Cavanaugh
Charles by Shirly Jakson and miss awful by Arthur Cavanaugh In this essay I am
going to compare and contrast the characters, setting and themes of the short
stories, Charles and Miss Awful . The story, Charles , by Shirly Jackson is a funny
story about a boy who blames his behaviors on an imaginary classmate. The story,
Miss Awful , by Arthur Cavanaugh, is a story about a nice teacher who is replaced
by a strict substitute. While both stories involve a school, teachers and students the
theme is different in each story and teaches its readers a different lesson. The setting
in each story is very similar because they both involve classrooms and being at home.
In Charles the setting is mostly Laurie telling his parents about Charles and the bad
behavior he had at school.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The characters in each story is very similar because they are both school related
and have teachers, students and parents in them. In Miss Awful , Roger has a sister
named Elizabeth while in Charles , Laurie talks about Charlie all the time. Roger
has a lot of friends at school while Laurie does not have a lot of friends but blames
it on Charles. The theme for Miss Awful is that strict teachers might not be that
bad after all and kids need to have discipline. The theme in Charles is more about
how the truth is bound to come out and you can t blame your problems on other
people. Another similarity between the two stories is that Laurie is blaming his
problems on someone else and Roger is blaming his problems on the teacher. In this
essay I have talked about the setting, characters, and theme of two different short
stories. The setting in Charles and Miss Awful we re the same they both took place
at home and at school. The characters were similar because they both dealt with
kids, teachers and schools. The themes in each story were different and made each
story really interesting to read.b The story Charles was true to life
Enron’s Stakeholder Impact Case Analysis Essay
Introduction:
Widely known as the champion of the energy industry, Enron is suddenly faced with
a corporate crisis in the form of a scandal. This scandal involves not only Enron s
accounting practices but also its corporate governance and culture (Lawrence Weber,
2008). This report will recommend some potential strategies for Enron to move
forward from the scandal. To do this, we must incorporate stakeholder theory, which
argues that corporations serve a broad public purpose; to create value for society
(Lawrence Weber, 2014, p 6.). This means that Enron must take responsibility for the
scandal it created and take actions to regain its stakeholders confidence. To
accomplish this, we will first identify and analyze Enron s primary ... Show more

They could decide not to file lawsuits and continue to support and help rebuild the
company. This is not an easy task considering that the company broke their trust.
Other significant stakeholders that deserve priority are Enron s employees. The
employees present threats to Enron in two ways: they can form coalitions to
exercise their legal rights, and they can also leave the company. They will most
likely sue the company as they have lost vast amounts of their retirement savings
(Moscoco and Deans, 2002). The urgency in this situation matters a lot as some
employees are reaching their retirement age. When it comes to employees leaving the
company, it is important to note that these employees have the necessary skills and
are essential for the business to succeed. Here is where we see the opportunity. How
is Enron going to recover without them? That being said, Enron has to do something
to retain its employees.
Lastly, the third stakeholder is the U.S. government, especially the Securities and
Exchange Commission (SEC). The U.S. government has tremendous legal and
political power. They have the ability to sue, penalize, and create special regulations
against Enron. Because the government s interest is to protect the public s interests,
it is likely that the government will sanction Enron for its scandal (Lawrence Weber,
2014). Nevertheless, we still see a possibility for Enron to pull the
Marxist Theory and Sport Essay
This essay will be an attempt to bring together the ideas from our class readings
about the Marxist sociological perspective as well as insight from other readings to
further my understanding of Marxism and its applications to sport. I will lay the
groundwork for the theory then proceed with how his theory is applied to accessibility
issues in sport, distribution of power in sport and commercialization of sport.
Basics of Marxist Theory
The most widely used political and ideological system of thought is that of Karl
Marx. Marxism is a set of ideas trying to provide an explanation for human society.
Although a little over a hundred years old his theories and thoughts have led to
coups, revolutions and new waves theories and academics. As ... Show more content

Improving one s own position within their social hierarchy in society is impossible
for the Proletariat: there is no social mobility, meritocracy (a system of social
stratification based on personal merit) and/or ladder system, as the class being born
into will already determine the position in the social hierarchy (Lecture Notes, 2005).
The polarization between these two classes is obvious and conflict will occur as a
result of inequalities.
The Marxist s perspective is dominantly based on economic factors and over
emphasizes them; money is assumed to be everything within society and social life. In
my view, something is clearly missing here such as values and other social factors.
Assuming that money is everything within society leads to assumptions that those
owning the productive and therefore economic resources are given the power and use
it to control those without to maintain their hegemony. Further factors that can form
and shape society like gender, ethnicity, age, culture etc. are not taken into
consideration and neglected. Hence the Marxist perspective focuses on having versus
not having, earning versus not earning and powerful versus powerless.
Marxism and Sport
Marxism tries to identify which sports are accessible to whom. A recent example: in

The Moral Compass Of The Force
The moral compass of the Force, exhibited through the conduct and emotions of
living entities who were themselves subject to a stimulating, omnipotent fabrication;
vigorously compartmentalize two distinct dogmas that, once again, embody a
spectrum of behavioral and cognitive norms. The light and dark side of the Force,
constituting two ethical nature s, enact elements of alignment that nurtures a Force
sensitives source of power. By means of these catalysts and/or disciplines, one in tune
with the Force, is consumed by such instinctive state of minds as a way of going
about internal endeavours.
The light side of the Force is entangled with the ideals of good. With its philosophical
methods being engaged with the shadows of compassion, altruism, knowledge,
healing, and benevolence, a practitioner of such state of mind, whom which are
referred to in the Star Wars films and animated television programs, as the Jedi, seeks
for peace and justice. As this noble periphery of the Force, encourages and fortifies
its followers to utilize wisdom and logic as a mechanism of action, they divorce
themselves from strong emotions, and, instead, explore enlightenment. By doing so,
one loyal to the light side of the force, is fulfilling their ultimate ambition, a life rich
in harmony.
The dark side of the Force, embroidered in raw emotions, is conceived as the spiritual
angle submerged in corruption and annihilation. A Force sensitive devoted to the
teachings of the dark side, avails

How much ethnic and cultural diversity is there in the American careers? Do

people built mistrust toward American Dream because they did not achieve what
they were expecting in life. A lot of people want more money from their jobs or
want to win the lottery for their materialistic needs. Instead of trying to be happy
about what they have and cherishing everyday like it is their last. America is the land

Also, immigrants come to America just to live a better life and to not be

same as our own, they humiliate, and torment them. By doing people wrongful

American Dream originated from? Is it still being pursued? How it is expressed in
different ways though Dr. King, movies or rags to riches?

The Pros And Cons Of Isaac Newton s Laws Of Motion
Space travel had been a dream for mankind ever since stars could be seen in the sky.
Creating successful rockets wasn t easy; scientists in the seventeenth century like
Galileo and Newton spent years trying to understand the laws of motions (How
Rockets). Isaac Newton s three laws of motions had advanced the creation of a
working rocket. His laws of motion are the building blocks of a functional rocket.
Newton s first law states, an object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in
motion tends to stay in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force ( The
Rocket ). A rocket on a launch pad is an object at rest. For a rocket to lift off, the
force needs to push the rocket off the pad. Newton s second law of motion can be
written with the equation F = ma. The engine of the rocket is generating force as
long as it is ignited, thrusting particles out of the rocket. The amount of force the
engine generates is equal to the mass of the rocket and the acceleration of the rocket.
Since particles are pushed out of the rocket, the mass is constantly decreasing, which
means the acceleration will increase (How Rockets). Rockets travel into space
according to this. The principle behind Newton s ... Show more content on

To make space travel a possibility, a lot of changes have to be made. Reducing the
price of space travel is one of the most challenging problems scientists face. Another
problem is how many mass propellants take up. Around 80% of a rocket s mass is
propellants; this limits the amount of space that can be used for luxury items that
attract customers to spend a lot of money into space travel. Also, the limited space
restricts the number of people that can be travel into space in one rocket. Fewer
amounts of people that could travel into space mean the more expensive space travel
would be. The more space travel costs, the fewer amounts of people would afford

Core Skills Self Reflective Essay
Core Skills Self reflective Essay In this essay I will go through the most important
skills that I acquired in the last few years in relation to the ones needed in the
industry. In addition, I will also look at my weaknesses and what I can do to
overcome them. Since I started my studies and up to this date, I have learned a lot
about what is required to work in the Aviation industry. There is a wide range of
skills required, although most of them apply to roles one can take on in the
specific industry. In other words, some skills are more role specific. Reflecting on
my skills, I believe I have excellent social, communication and language skills.
These skills are essential in any customer facing or team work oriented job. As
explained by Morgeson, F. P. et al. in Selecting individuals in team settings: The
importance of social skills, personality characteristics, and teamwork knowledge.
(2005): Social skills are particularly important in team settings because working in
teams increases the interdependence among workers, typically producing greater

Jan Steen s Self Portrait in The Continence of Scipio as a Social Commentary
There is a tremendous difference between a fool and a jester. Fools are regarded as
light hearted, dim witted, and absent minded people whose outrageous stupidity
amused the rest of the population. These jovial folk represented the lowest in
society: too carefree to get ahead in society and too stupid to care. Many people
believed that Jan Steen, a prominent and well educated artist of the Dutch Golden
Age, was a fool. It is not a far fetched assumption to make since he donned the
appearance of a fool in his own paintings. However Steen was no fool. Much like the

He also suffered some money problems during this time and had out several loans
(Chapman, 1996). Many people have concluded that Steen s money problems
stemmed from his dissolute lifestyle. However, during that time the second Anglo
Dutch war had broken out causing a severe drop in the art market (Chapman,
1996). The post reformation society seemingly obsessed with purity, justice, and
goodness seemed to suffer a blow to its heavenly façade when corruption among
some of the most prominent leaders of society was exposed. In 1673 William III
and the Deventer fathers were found to be corrupt and traitorous to the Dutch
Republic (Kunzle, 2000). These men were meant to be the epitome of what it meant
to be Dutch. They were meant to be symbols of temperance, virtue, and justice and
were often related to Scipio Africanus, a Roman general (Kunzle, 2000). Scipio was a
popular subject matter in art, especially in 17th century Holland. During this time the
middle class became the major patrons of art. The Netherlands had just declared their
independence from Spain and wanted paintings reflecting their new Dutch identity
(Shaw Eagle, 1996). Many artists gained fame by doing genre paintings such as
scenes from everyday life. The years earlier had shown the public s desire for genre
and history painting (Meagher, 2000). Some, took old stories of

Caregiving Of A Family Member With Dementia
Background
This case rooted from the lack of resources available that discussed the positive
aspects of caregiving. This study investigated the positive aspects of caregiving of
bereaved caregivers who provided care to a family member with dementia. This
study is also due to prior research suggestion that when death is preceded by a
chronic illness, disability, and high levels of caregiving strain, a sense of relief that
the care recipient s suffering has ended can counterbalance adverse bereavement
effects in terms of depression (Schulz et al., 2003, as stated in Boerner et al., 2004
p. 670). To understand both the positive and negative aspects of the bereavement
process, an understanding of the caregiving role has to be recognized. There have
been existing studies on the positive aspects of caregiving that used gratification,
satisfaction, personal gains or benefits, and uplifts and enjoyment as operational
definitions. With regard to the various stressors of caregiving, the overall caregiving
experience involves multiple facets of positive gains caregivers experience.
The purpose of this longitudinal study is due to the gap in literature that does not
connect positive aspects of caregiving to bereavement outcomes. This study
investigates the link in terms of depression and grief among older adults who took
care of family members with dementia. This study is an extension to prior research
and for this reason researchers used pre and post loss data obtained during the
Stele Essay
In the ancient Mesopotamia, the purpose of art is to exhibit political power and to
tell a story or a visual narrative. One of the many visual arts that the ancient people
used is a stele. In addition, a stele is a massive standing marker stone , its purpose is
to commemorate a significant person, event or achievement. Furthermore, the two
empires of Mesopotamia: the Akkadian and Babylonian, both erected steles that
showed their differences in culture and beliefs.
The Akkadian empire is known for its imperialism. The art in their culture is
profoundly influenced by their militant characteristic and they utilize their visual
arts to showcase their power and strength. Moreover, the Akkadian empire built a
stele that commemorated one of their achievements and it is called the Victory
Stele of Naram sin. The stele is 6 ft high and the relief and cuneiform was carved
on a limestone. The stele s visual narrative clearly illustrated king Naram sin s
victory over Lullubi. In the relief, it showed the Akkadian army , in a composite
view, going up to the mountains and also their foes can be seen on the ground dead

I have taught all grades 4th 8th (content specific and self contained), served as grade chairman, Teacher Advancement Program mentor (TAP), intervention teacher (math), UIL coach, and even cheer sponsor. While I have served as a classroom teacher for the past twenty years, my lessons go well beyond my classroom. Through the Texas public educationsystem, I have had to interact with parents on a daily basis, and most days that involves educating the parent as to what is happening in their child s classroom. But, it is not just the student parent teacher relationship that needs fostering; as educators we must continue to educate our own whether they are a first year teacher or a veteran. Through the years I have been given several opportunities to advance into administration, but I have realized my passion lies in the classroom developing students and teachers through servant leadership. I believe my realization happened when serving as a Mentor Teacher through TAP. Being part of TAP, I realized that I have much to offer other teachers, and I can serve peers without forfeiting service to my students. This was quite a welcomed relief because servant leadership is what I love, and I just happen to do that through education. Serving as a Mentor Teacher, I welcomed the responsibility of ensuring our teachers were well educated on district and state expectations, as

As a philosopher, scientist, writer, inventor, diplomat, and more he had far reaching effects on America and the world both in his time and today. As an American, Franklin sought to improve the country through the creation of institutions and the development of personal moral and financial success for its citizens. For instance, he describes a local ministers sermons as their aim seeming to be rather to make us Presbyterians than good citizens. Although he did not believe in any one religion, he did feel that they were good for the community and actively supported the Presbyterian minister, Jewish temples, and other groups. 2.) He was, however, aware that he had been very lucky and that few efforts would reach fruition without some effects of luck. It is interesting to see how at every turn Franklin had some sort of system or method laid out, followed it step by step, and achieved the intended result. Many people today can think of what it would take to be successful at something (say a sport or skill) but few know so thoroughly the correct path to take and actually walk down it to its end. We observe this ability even in his childhood. At the time, these attitudes toward

The French Revolution was a devastating time for the French population; many lives were lost during the battle. France is known for, other than the revolution, their production wine( French Wine Culture ). Wine has an important role in their culture as well as their position on the social ladder ( France). Wine also has a symbolic role in their religion. Therefore, France is a popular country for the making and producing of wine, and has the reputation as the Mother Country ( French Wine Culture ). Receiving this title did not happen overnight; France has been producing and manufacturing wine for a long period of time. Wine plays roles in many aspects of their society. For example, wine reflects their heritage, region of birth, social status, and their health ( France ). Wine resembles the differences between regions and their national pride ( France ). Not only does the region reflect their heritage but it also helps determine the name of the wine itself, as does the vineyard they are grown in ( French Wines ). Most vineyards are very large. Although France is known at the mother country as a whole, there are still some regions that are more productive and successful at making and distributing wine. Alsace, Beaujolais, and
  • 16. Bram Stoker s Novel Dracula Bram Stokers novel Dracula is an intriguing novel, which puts forth many ideas to contemplate. Gender roles and the status of women in society are two values immensely evident throughout the novel. The novel is based in the 1800s, a time in history when a new uprising in feminine attitudes and ides was emerging. These new women directly opposed the gender roleof women during the Victorian era. Although this change was unfavourable and opposed, it went ahead and forever changed feminine ideas in society. Stoker uses Lucy, Mina and the three vampirewomen to portray the changes in society. Women in the 1800s were stereotyped and confined to specific roles in society, however it all changed. The 1800s in Victorian England, created an environment, which encouraged stereotypes, aimed at women in which they were required to stay at home and be The Angels of the House. Women were not only constricted to very narrow gender roles where they are expected to be mothers, pure, naГЇve and dependant on their husbands. Jobs such as teaching and nursing were seen as women jobs only and these were the only jobs women should do. However, the Industrial Revolution helped open a new era for women in society and this allowed women to feel the need to stand up for their rights and challenge the stereotypes of the society. Lucy Westenra is a typical young, beautiful girl whose main aim is to marry and do what is accepted in society as a wife. She is seen as a marginal figure whose

These parties have had many influences on our government from their formation. Some of these influences that the parties have had were good, other were bad. Within our modern government, parties, have become a major impact and have had much influence. These parties are present to push their agendas and accomplish what they can through their influence on the government. The affect that these parties have had on our government can be seen through their influence on the three branches of government; the Executivebranch, the Legislative branch, and the Judicial Branch. Political parties have a massive influence on the Executive branch, or the president. The two party political system is the fore ground of our modern presidential elections. This system determines the two major candidates that the country ultimately chooses from for the presidency, either Republican or Democrat. As the American Government textbook states the political parties kept a tight control on the selection of a candidate (Krutz 454). This excerpt from the American Government textbook shows that the influence the party system has on the Executive branch is so great that it goes as far as to choose the candidates that the country gets to vote for. The party chooses the candidates for the presidential electionby holding primary elections where multiple people are put out for the states to vote, the

  • 19. Analysis Of Ask Me If I Care And Safari Essay Women have a few common tropes in literature. Seen as submissive to men, and sexualized because of it, women are presented as less than. While this has been strayed from a little bit in modern literature with the engagement of queer writers, it is still very much the normal view of women, due to a society in which the view on women is that of being less than. The short stories Ask Me if I Care and Safari by Jennifer Egan both perpetuate this idea of women as submissive. Egan presents female characters who only exist in the context of men, thus leaving them to be seen as inferior to the men. These tropes of women in literature, and Egan s use of them, fit into the larger conversation: there is a degradation of women in literature due to common conceptions of women in society. Egan presents multiple female characters in Ask Me if I Care . The short story touches on a group of friends, and in this group are the two characters of Rhea and Jocelyn both female. While they may seem to be presented differently, Rhea as a not interested in being sexualized character and Jocelyn as a sexualizes herself character, both ultimately play into the trope of submissive and degraded women. Rhea, from the beginning, is portrayed as needing men: Still, if it s Bennie and me I hope for the back, so that I can push against his shoulder in the cold, and hold him for a second when we hit a bump (Egan, Ask Me ). While this may seem innocuous, it is the first introduction to Rhea. The very
  • 20. Strategic Cost Advantage And Competitive Advantage According to Michael Poter (cited in David 2011) the value chain can be best described as the business of a firm, in which total revenues minus total costs of all activities undertaken to develop and market a product or service . A strategic cost analysis is the process whereby a firm determines the costsassociated with organizational activities from purchasing raw material to manufacturing products to marketing those products (David 2011, 119). The goal of this analysis is to determine whether or not a company has a competitive advantage over its competitors. This is done by identifying where, low cost advantages or disadvantages that exist anywhere along the value chain from raw material to customer service activities. Also the strategic cost analysis also enables the company to better identify its own strengths and weaknesses. Once a company is capable of producing goods at lower costs than the market price within the industry, the company earns profits and it has a competitive advantage. This advantage gives a company an edge over its rivals and an ability to generate greater value for the firm and its shareholders. Temperature Analysis Of Temperature During The Summer Temperature Analysis The expectations I held when first given this assignment are echoed in the conceptual models presented in the guidance document: locations situated close to the ocean ought to exhibit cooler temperatures during the summer months while maintaining slightly warmer temperatures during the winter and that more inland locations should display slightly higher temperatures within the summer time but lower temperatures during the winter months. Continuing to follow the notion proposed within the given conceptual model, the southern stations showed that the inland city of Devil s Garden experienced substantially colder winters compared to the winter time temperatures seen in Miami Beach. Encountering an average winter temperature of 51.4 degrees, Devil s Garden is approximately 12 degrees cooler than Miami Beach s average minimum winter temperature of 63.6. These locations, however, did not exhibit such a large disparity in summer time temperatures with Devil s Garden s maximum average displayed at approximately 92 degrees and Miami Beach s maximum average displaying exactly 87 degrees. Upon further investigation, it appears that the discrepancy in average temperatures between the locations is perhaps caused by a sizable difference in latitudes with Devil s Garden situated at 38.8 degrees north compared to Miami Beach situated at 25.8 degrees north. This divergence is the most likely responsible for Miami Beach s high summer temperatures as areas in lower latitudes often experience warmer weather in addition to the fact that the beach is located closer to the equator. To compare coastal stations, it is clear that the second conceptual model is reasonably correct when asserting

Why Is John Dickinson Justified In Declaring Independence As the desire for independence from Britain spread around the thirteen colonies, regions began to make it clear that they had no desire to remain under British rule. Colonies like Massachusetts, Delaware, and Rhode Island dabbled in the thought of breaking away from this strict rule. Other places, like Georgia, Maryland, and the Carolinas didn t rule independence out, but were also not actively seeking a chance for it. Other colonies remained neutral, and open to hear the opinions of the other colonies that were considering or ruling out the push for freedom. Ultimately the states formed together to override British rule, but why were some states so hesitant to independence? Before the Revolutionary War, Pennsylvania was most opposed to the independence movement from Great Britain. Pennsylvania s secondary delegate, John Dickinson, was the main cause of that anti independence movement. Dickinson s view was that independence from Great Britain was treasonous action of the most despicable kind (Pandel, n. d.). If you re a low income American, chances are you re paying a lot more for auto insurance than other citizens even if you have a similar driving record and address. Those are the findings of the Consumer Federation of America (CFA) based on a study released on Monday. Low Income Status = Higher Insurance Premiums The CFA evaluated minimum limits liability premiums shared by men and women in 15 cities by five of the nation s largest auto insurers. Specifically, the CFA found that premiums surged by an average of 59 percent, or $681 annually when characteristics of the drivers were changed to denote a lower economic status. Auto insurance is required in all states with New Hampshire the lone exception. Insurance is regulated at the state level. Insurance companies should judge you on how you drive, not who you are, said J. Robert Hunter, CFA s Director of Insurance and former Texas Insurance Commissioner. The polarization between these two classes is obvious and conflict will occur as a result of inequalities. The Marxist s perspective is dominantly based on economic factors and over emphasizes them; money is assumed to be everything within society and social life. • 35. The Pros And Cons Of Isaac Newton s Laws Of Motion Space travel had been a dream for mankind ever since stars could be seen in the sky. Creating successful rockets wasn t easy; scientists in the seventeenth century like Galileo and Newton spent years trying to understand the laws of motions (How Rockets). Isaac Newton s three laws of motions had advanced the creation of a working rocket. His laws of motion are the building blocks of a functional rocket. Newton s first law states, an object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force ( The Rocket ). A rocket on a launch pad is an object at rest. For a rocket to lift off, the force needs to push the rocket off the pad. Newton s second law of motion can be written with the equation F = ma. The engine of the rocket is generating force as long as it is ignited, thrusting particles out of the rocket. The amount of force the engine generates is equal to the mass of the rocket and the acceleration of the rocket. Since particles are pushed out of the rocket, the mass is constantly decreasing, which means the acceleration will increase (How Rockets). Rockets travel into space according to this. The principle behind Newton s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To make space travel a possibility, a lot of changes have to be made. Reducing the price of space travel is one of the most challenging problems scientists face. Another problem is how many mass propellants take up. Around 80% of a rocket s mass is propellants; this limits the amount of space that can be used for luxury items that attract customers to spend a lot of money into space travel. Also, the limited space restricts the number of people that can be travel into space in one rocket. Fewer amounts of people that could travel into space mean the more expensive space travel would be. The more space travel costs, the fewer amounts of people would afford

It is those things, the ones that are a mix of both, that are the big ones the ones that are the most important. Take my situation. Oh man, I hate life here. The worst part is that I don t even deserve it. I am innocent, I don t care what the judge and everybody else thinks! I am innocent! My teacher used to tell us that we are to never, ever say the word hate, and if we ever did, we were to stay in at break and write I do not hate, I strongly don t like on a piece of paper fifty times! I m sorry, Mrs. Halbert, but I hate that judge. He put me here. He is the reason I m in juvie. October 30, 2015: I m sorry how I started that entry. I should have told you normal things that are stated in an opening entry, such as how I got this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A bunch of people were coming up to me and trying to make friends, but I was not in the mood. That was going on for the entire first week and guards started to notice. I tried not to show it, but I was mad! I wasn t mad at anything in particular, just the situation, so I kept ignoring the world. Finally, the guard said that I needed to express my feelings, so he gave me this diary. That felt better. Next time, I will explain it all. November 2, 2015: My name is Samantha McWilliams and I am thirteen. I have one brother, Kyle, who is in grade ten. This is how it all began. . . . One day, I was walking home from school with some guy I didn t even recognize. Now that I think of it, I m not even sure that he goes to my school. It is pretty simple actually, all he did was plant a pair of stolen shoes on me. I didn t see any police chasing him, but they must have been, because the second he left, they arrested me. He was wearing gloves, so the only fingerprints they found were my

Vicodin is made up of Hydrocodone a narcotic used to relieve pain, and Acetaminophen a non narcotic used both to relieve pain and reduce fever and inflammation. Vicodin, like most narcotics, lose their effectiveness due to tolerance build up. Because of the user s tolerance development, the dosage increases to achieve the same amount of pain relief and euphoria, resulting in dependence and addiction. Vicodin has side effects that range from moderate to severe. The more mild side effects include lightheadedness, anxiety, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, constipation, headache, mood changes, blurred vision, ringing of the ears, dry mouth, and difficulty urinating.... To achieve the same level of euphoria, the user requires a higher dosage. Because the user gets used to the euphoria, the pain is more noticeable, and the user takes a higher dosage. This becomes the cycle until intervened or liver damage and death occur due to overdose. Recovery can be done safely in any medical care facility with the aid of medical professionals. Recover always includes detoxification. Withdrawal symptoms include chills, fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, anxiety, and muscle

Core Skills Self Reflective Essay Core Skills Self reflective Essay In this essay I will go through the most important skills that I acquired in the last few years in relation to the ones needed in the industry. In addition, I will also look at my weaknesses and what I can do to overcome them. Since I started my studies and up to this date, I have learned a lot about what is required to work in the Aviation industry. There is a wide range of skills required, although most of them apply to roles one can take on in the specific industry. In other words, some skills are more role specific. Reflecting on my skills, I believe I have excellent social, communication and language skills. These skills are essential in any customer facing or team work oriented job. As explained by Morgeson, F. P. et al. in Selecting individuals in team settings: The importance of social skills, personality characteristics, and teamwork knowledge. (2005): Social skills are particularly important in team settings because working in teams increases the interdependence among workers, typically producing greater conflict, workload sharing, and coordination demands than work that is performed independently... I have always been a people person and my communication with people is very good. It gives me great pleasure to make other people laugh and cater for their needs. It has never been difficult for me to form new friendships and maintain existing ones. For instance, when I was in primary school, I had made a lot of friends, four
  • 39. Jan Steen’s Self Portrait in “The Continence of Scipio”... Jan Steen s Self Portrait in The Continence of Scipio as a Social Commentary There is a tremendous difference between a fool and a jester. Fools are regarded as light hearted, dim witted, and absent minded people whose outrageous stupidity amused the rest of the population. These jovial folk represented the lowest in society: too carefree to get ahead in society and too stupid to care. Many people believed that Jan Steen, a prominent and well educated artist of the Dutch Golden Age, was a fool. It is not a far fetched assumption to make since he donned the appearance of a fool in his own paintings. However Steen was no fool. Much like the history of jesters, Jan Steen s unsavory appearances in his own work is often misunderstood and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also suffered some money problems during this time and had out several loans (Chapman, 1996). Many people have concluded that Steen s money problems stemmed from his dissolute lifestyle. However, during that time the second Anglo Dutch war had broken out causing a severe drop in the art market (Chapman, 1996). The post reformation society seemingly obsessed with purity, justice, and goodness seemed to suffer a blow to its heavenly faГ§ade when corruption among some of the most prominent leaders of society was exposed. In 1673 William III and the Deventer fathers were found to be corrupt and traitorous to the Dutch Republic (Kunzle, 2000). These men were meant to be the epitome of what it meant to be Dutch. They were meant to be symbols of temperance, virtue, and justice and were often related to Scipio Africanus, a Roman general (Kunzle, 2000). Scipio was a popular subject matter in art, especially in 17th century Holland. During this time the middle class became the major patrons of art. The Netherlands had just declared their independence from Spain and wanted paintings reflecting their new Dutch identity (Shaw Eagle, 1996). Many artists gained fame by doing genre paintings such as scenes from everyday life. The years earlier had shown the public s desire for genre and history painting (Meagher, 2000). Some, took old stories of

When the human body lies inside the MRI machine, the magnetic field temporarily
  • 41. Caregiving Of A Family Member With Dementia Background This case rooted from the lack of resources available that discussed the positive aspects of caregiving. This study investigated the positive aspects of caregiving of bereaved caregivers who provided care to a family member with dementia. This study is also due to prior research suggestion that when death is preceded by a chronic illness, disability, and high levels of caregiving strain, a sense of relief that the care recipient s suffering has ended can counterbalance adverse bereavement effects in terms of depression (Schulz et al., 2003, as stated in Boerner et al., 2004 p. 670). To understand both the positive and negative aspects of the bereavement process, an understanding of the caregiving role has to be recognized. There have been existing studies on the positive aspects of caregiving that used gratification, satisfaction, personal gains or benefits, and uplifts and enjoyment as operational definitions. With regard to the various stressors of caregiving, the overall caregiving experience involves multiple facets of positive gains caregivers experience. The purpose of this longitudinal study is due to the gap in literature that does not connect positive aspects of caregiving to bereavement outcomes. This study investigates the link in terms of depression and grief among older adults who took care of family members with dementia. This study is an extension to prior research and for this reason researchers used pre and post loss data obtained during the
  • 42. Stele Essay In the ancient Mesopotamia, the purpose of art is to exhibit political power and to tell a story or a visual narrative. One of the many visual arts that the ancient people used is a stele. In addition, a stele is a massive standing marker stone , its purpose is to commemorate a significant person, event or achievement. Furthermore, the two empires of Mesopotamia: the Akkadian and Babylonian, both erected steles that showed their differences in culture and beliefs. The Akkadian empire is known for its imperialism. The art in their culture is profoundly influenced by their militant characteristic and they utilize their visual arts to showcase their power and strength. Moreover, the Akkadian empire built a stele that commemorated one of their achievements and it is called the Victory Stele of Naram sin. The stele is 6 ft high and the relief and cuneiform was carved on a limestone. The stele s visual narrative clearly illustrated king Naram sin s victory over Lullubi. In the relief, it showed the Akkadian army , in a composite view, going up to the mountains and also their foes can be seen on the ground dead and the defeated begging for their lives. Above them in the center is Naram sin on a hierarchical scale, this clearly emphasizes that his identity is a king.
