Bilingual Education Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of bilingual education can be quite challenging for several reasons.
Firstly, it requires a comprehensive understanding of the concept of bilingual education itself,
including its history, theoretical frameworks, and current practices. This necessitates thorough
research into academic sources, educational policies, and case studies to provide a well-rounded
analysis.
Secondly, crafting an essay on this topic involves navigating complex issues related to language
acquisition, cultural identity, and educational equity. It requires careful consideration of various
perspectives, including the benefits and challenges of bilingual education, its impact on students'
academic achievement and socio-cultural development, as well as the practical implications for
educators and policymakers.
Furthermore, discussing bilingual education often entails addressing controversial debates
surrounding language dominance, language preservation, and the effectiveness of different
instructional approaches. This requires the ability to critically evaluate competing arguments and
present a balanced viewpoint supported by empirical evidence.
Additionally, writing an effective essay on bilingual education requires strong analytical and
argumentative skills to articulate clear thesis statements, develop coherent arguments, and
provide convincing evidence to support claims. It also entails effective organization and structure
to ensure logical flow and coherence throughout the essay.
Overall, writing an essay on the topic of bilingual education demands a combination of research
skills, critical thinking, and writing proficiency to address complex issues comprehensively and
persuasively.

Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform
Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act Abstract The Dodd
Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act is a massive piece of
financial reform legislation passed by the Obama administration in July 2010 as a
response to the financial crisis of 2008. Named after sponsors U.S. Senator
Christopher J. Dodd and U.S. Representative Barney Frank, the act s numerous
provisions, spelled out over roughly 2,300 pages, are being implemented over a
period of several years and are intended to decrease various risks in the U.S.
financial system. The law was initially proposed by the Obama administration in
June 2009, when the White House sent a series of proposed bills to Congress. A
version of the legislation was introduced... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To help make them more transparent, a clearinghouse of sorts similar to the stock
exchange must be set up so these derivative trades can be transacted in public. But
Dodd Frank left it up to the regulators to determine exactly the best way to put this
clearinghouse into place. And not all derivatives will be subject to the law. The
Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading
Commission approved a rule that would exempt some energy companies, hedge
funds and banks from derivative oversight. Insurance companies affected by Dodd
Frank The law created a new Federal Insurance Office (FIO) under the Treasury
Department, which would identify insurance companies, like AIG, that create risk
to the entire system. AIG was caught in in a major liquidity crisis when its credit
ratings were downgraded in September 2008. The U.S. Federal Reserve Bank had to
step in and create an $85 billion emergency fund taxpayer money to help AIG meet
increased financial payouts. The new FIO will also gather information about the
insurance industry and make sure affordable insurance is available to
Should Student Athletes Be Paid
One of the most controversial topics involving the NCAA and college sports is the
issue of student athlete compensation. Proponents of paying college athletes say that
the student athletes who participate in basketball and football bring in large revenues
for their universities, the NCAA, and the networks broadcasting games. Student
athletes should not be compensated because most universities do not gain revenue
from collegeathletics, they are being educated, not exploited, and athletes are treated
like campus royalty and have far more perks than everyone else.
First of all, student athletes should not be paid because not all universities make a
profit from college athletics. In an article by David Welch Suggs, Ph.D., the associate
professor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A great example of this is the John E. Jaqua Academic Center for Student Athletes at
the University of Oregon. According to an article on Sirs Issues Researcher, this
building is made of sparkling glass and stainless steel, with 40,000 square feet of
spaces for college education. These spaces include an auditorium with 114 leather
seats, 35 tutor rooms, 25 academic and life advising offices, a conference room, a
computer lab, a graphics lab, a library, and a lobby with a wide flat screen TV and
plush sofas (Chudacoff). Every one of these spaces is outfitted with state of the art
equipment. The author of this article, Let s Not Pay College Athletes, states that
virtually all the rooms, technology, and staff are reserved for varsity athletes
(Chudacoff). He also noted that the Jaqua Center may be extreme in extravagance,
but it is similar to facilities at other elite sports schools like Alabama, Michigan, and
Nebraska (Chudacoff). Athletes in very popular sports like basketball and football
have benefits that compare with professional athletes (Chudacoff). College athletes
have the best coaching, the best medical care, the best trainers, the best weight and
conditioning equipment, therapy pools, and devices to speed recovery (Chudacoff).
They also receive high quality athletic gear from companies like Nike and are fed

Property Valuation Essay
In the case of the awareness creation, 63 respondents, which means majority of the
households answered as there was no awareness creation that shows shortcoming on
one of procedures of property valuation in expropriation. According to Tony O
Sullivan (2003), Housing, which is one of the major types of real property, is an
inherently complex commodity with spatial fixity for which many aspects must be
taken in to consideration in its valuationand expropriation process. The writer of this
study concluded that people who were expropriated had no chance to discuss the
economic, social, and cultural aspects in the process of expropriation depending on
the above majority response in table(3). In real property appraisal, the objective of...

It is known that when there is no consideration of property type, on the other hand,
there is no selection of valuation method. Because, selection of valuation method and
identification of property type mostly go together. Description of the property which
is the subject of a valuation report is one of the scientific procedures of valuation
(http://www.iacenig.org/CEthics.html). This is realized from the fact that for the
selection of valuation method, the available data and the type of property
(commercial or residential) plays important role.
IA CE (2008) says that, The procedure and method for deciding a given value in
question is a matter for the valuer himself to determine. Nevertheless, better
valuation practice needs that the method selected be right for the purpose, hold
consideration of all the factors that have a bearing on the value, and are presented in
a clear and logical way .
There are three major types of property valuation methods and selection of the
appropriate method according to the condition of the property is the most important
precondition to reach at the most accurate value of the property. Regarding this
condition, 4(80%) of the expert respondents reacted as there was no consideration of
the alternative method in Gimbi town during expropriation. From this response, the
researcher approved that there was no concept of valuation methods. Here, what
should be understood is that, they use the idea that says current cost or market price as
Essay about My Childhood Home
The fleeting changes that often accompany seasonal transition are especially
exasperated in a child s mind, most notably when the cool crisp winds of fall signal
the summer s end approaching. The lazy routine I had adopted over several
months spent frolicking in the cool blue chlorine soaked waters of my family s
bungalow colony pool gave way to changes far beyond the weather and textbooks.
As the surrounding foliage changed in anticipation of colder months, so did my
family. My mother s stomach grew larger as she approached the final days of her
pregnancy and in the closing hours of my eight summer my mother gently awoke
me from the uncomfortable sleep of a long car ride to inform of a wonderful
surprise. No longer would we be returning... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I had violent, grass stained war games with my neighborhood friends, while my
mother worked in her small vegetable garden among the honeybees, and watched
things grow. An ever present warming smell of knishes and hot dogs permeated
around every inch of my block as the nearby concession pumped a constant flow of
fresh food to hungry little leaguers and their families. Looking up, the summer sky
looked like an Easter egg God had dipped in blue dye.
Those warm summer nights after long days of camp were greatly anticipated events
back then. My cousin and I itched with repressed energy throughout the long bus
ride from various tri state area attractions. We couldn t wait to get home and see
what types of shenanigans we could get into. We couldn t wait to slide down the
steep, blue carpeted staircase on our bottoms, and then on our stomachs. Most of all,
we couldn t wait to go down to the basement. The basement was better than a toy
store. Yes, the old fashioned milk chutein the kitchen wall was enchanting, and the
laundry chute was fun because it was big enough to throw down my sisters stuffed
companions, so my cousin could catch them below in the laundry room, as our voices
echoed up and down the chute. But the basement was better than all of these, better
even than sliding down those stairs on rug burned bottoms.
It was always deliciously cool down

Benefits Of A New Technique For Tie Over Dressing Essay
Tie over dressing is the most common technique used to fix the skin graft to its
recipient bed. In our study we use a new technique for tie over in the form of
multiple opposing simple loop stiches tied by rubber bands to allow reapplication of
tie over if indicated without anesthesia. The study was conducted on 20 patients
presented by raw areas of variable etiologies, treated with skin grafting(STSG or
FTSG) and simple loop stitch tie over technique. The patients were followed up for
1 2 months. All grafts showed very good to excellent results as the skin graft take
ranges from 75% to 100%. Complications were seen in 5 cases in one case was
slipped one simple loop and the other 4 cases was local infection. We documented a
novel, simple, economic, time saving and applicable tie over dressing that allows
fixing and re fixing of the skin grafts when needed to maintain a proper pressure
dressing to the wound. Keywords Skin transplantation / Reconstructive surgical
procedure / surgical fixation devices.
Introduction
Skin grafting is the most common procedure used in reconstructive surgery. Tie over
dressing is the most common technique used to fix the skin graft to the recipient bed,
decrease the dead space, and prevent hematoma and seroma under the graft. The
classic method consists of the use of long silk sutures along the edges of the graft that
are tied over impregnated non adherent gauze covered with a bolus gauze. The
tedious and time consuming nature of its
Zoos Should Not Save Animals
Zoos are supposedly saving animals right? Zoos have been around for a long time.
Their history dates back to when kings and queens still ruled over countries and
animals used to be held in captivity, lived in a cage with metal bars and were
treated with no regard. Thankfully, zoos procedures have changed and advanced
over the ages. Zoos have improved animals habitats and started treating the animals
better. Although zoos have given animals better places to live in besides a cage with
metal bars, a new question has popped up. Are zoos still good news? The zoodebate
has been going on for some time. Zoos shouldn t exist because the animals get very
stressed out, the man made habitat conditions still aren t good for animals, and
animals are tortured due to lack of necessities. Zoos should close down because
stress in animals is very common in zoos. According to the article Zoochosis by
Stephanie Santana and Shauwn Lukose, animals in zoos have developed a mental
illness called zoochosis. Animals with zoochosis pace back and forth in never
ending circles, turn their necks, bob their heads up and down, and even tear holes in
their own skin! Zoo animals are so stressed that they want to hurt themselves. Can
you imagine being so miserable that it makes you harm yourself? If animals kill
themselves with zoochosis, then zoos can t save animals. They give animals a death
sentence. Not only that, but the graph Life Span of Elephants in Zoos and the Wild
states that female

Bangladesh has a huge supply of raw materials for the agro based industry. 2. Fruits
and vegetable production has increased significantly in recent years. 3. Government
and NGOs have been conducting regular training programs in developing a skilled
manpower for this industry. Director of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and

produced adequate amount of crops particularly rice, maize, wheat and soybean,
fruits especially mango, banana, papaya and tomato and vegetables over the last

4. Development of the Industrial Sector: Issues and Challenges
вќ– The performance of the small and cottage industry sector calls for special
attention because of its labour intensive character, its focus on catering to the demand
of low and medium income consumers and its capacity for import substitution.
Amongst the small scale industries, production of electric apparatus, plastic toys,
miscellaneous metal wears, tin plate and readymade wear has registered robust
performance in recent years. To be sure, this sub sector has also been particularly
vulnerable to natural disasters and other production snags compared to medium and
large scale industries.
вќ– Factors inhibiting industrial investment in Bangladesh are rather common for
domestic as well as foreign investors: poor infrastructure, absence
Description Of The Amoeba Naegleria Fowleri
Included in the kingdom Protista, the amoeba Naegleria fowleri has proven to be
pathogenic when entering the brain through the nasal cavity. Out of the numerous
species of Naegleria, only the single celled fowleri is of vital concern to human
health. This free living ameboflagellate can be discovered in one of three stages
depending on its surroundings (Fero 2010). The protozoan s life cycle consists of a
cystic phase which is resistant, a dormant biflagellate phase, and the dangerous
trophozoite phase. This species duplicates by binary fission in the trophozoite stage
which is the only proven form when N. fowleri is infectious, visibly granulated and
has one nucleus ( General Information. Parasites, 2017).
Discovered by Dr. Fowler in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The waterborne ailment that patients succumb to after inhaling N. fowleri was
termed Primary Amebic Meningoencephalitis (PAM) by Butt in 1966 in order to
distinguish this central nervous system invasion from other secondary invasions such
as the intestinal amoebae Entamoeba histolytica. (Fero 2010). Once enclosed in the
brain enormous cell destruction commences and the parasite causes massive
inflammation. When in the feeding trophozoite phase, necrosis is inevitable while it
emits proteins which allow for the disintegration of the myelin sheaths protective
coating. The bodies natural immune responses fail rapidly against the amoeba once
it releases its cytotoxic molecules. After as short as one week the patient may fall
into a coma from lack of intracranial space to allow for inflammation and edema
accompanied by deadly herniation (Pugh Levy 2016)
Once initially infected with the parasite, the symptoms of its destruction can easily
be mistaken for a severe flu or meningitis caused by bacteria similar to Streptococcus
pneumonia or Haemophilus influenzae (General Information. Parasites 2017). Within
a week a multitude of warning signs can include heightened body temperature, stiff
neck, migraines, sore throat, lack of eating, lack of balance, vomiting, a change in
mental status,
The Hobbit, By. R. Tolkien Essay
For years, people of all ages have enjoyed The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, causing a
debate over whether or not this novel should be defined as a children s book. After
all, it contains many stereotypes of a children s book, including moral lessons and
character growth, yet, avid fans debate that it includes depth and darkness that
heighten it to the level of adults. In the end, does it really matter how people view it
from the outside? What might otherwise be important is the content it contains. Bilbo
Baggins, a small character who goes on huge adventures; someone who has become
known throughout the fantasy world and has left a footprint bigger than a giant s.
However, this seems like an awfully large reputation for somebody who seems so
meek and homely towards the beginning of his journey. Luckily, over the course of
his pilgrimage to the Lonely Mountain, he grows in ways that have enabled this
persona. Not only does he learn about the world he lives in, but he also becomes
more courageous and mature throughout the journey as well. This in total transforms
him from the weak link of his traveling company, into the person who become
invaluable to finding peace and closure from their quest. Hobbits, as a species, are
introduced by the infamous first lines, In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit... it
was a hobbit hole, and that means comfort (Tolkien 3). In fact, the ideals of Hobbit
society, Bilbo s home values, emphasize the ordinary and habitual, while
Wood Preservatives
Adding wood preservatives to wood can drastically change the effect of wood
decay on wood. Normally, when wood with no preservatives is submerged in
water, it only takes a couple of days for the wood to decay (exact amount can vary
depending on the original integrity of the wood). When preservatives are added, the
time period is increased but not prevented. It can take anywhere from a week to a
month or more depending on the type of woodpreservative (Hendricks, Hoffman,
Powell, 2011). When selecting the best wood preservatives to prevent wood decay,
it is crucial to know if it is interior or exterior, be able to compare and contrast the
different selections, the history of the wood preservatives, and what the preservatives
are made to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important to know how up to date it is and what it was originally made for.
Shellac was used in India from 100 44 b.c. to protect the surfaces of homes and
temples. Paint (both interior and exterior) dates back as far as the cavemen. It was
used to decorate surfaces, protect walls from weather, and to improve lighting and
heating effects for better working conditions (Wood Preservatives, 2003).
Although lacquer is constantly changing today, we can trace its roots all the way
to the Japanese about 2,000 years ago. It was used to decorate wood for drawing
and carving in the wood (Wood Preservatives, 2003). Varnish roots can be traced all
the way back to ancient Egypt. It was used to decorate and preserve artifacts in the
Egyptian tombs (Wood Preservatives, 2003). Stain has no direct roots to where it
was first made. All we know today was that it was a more recent invention that has
many ingredients of other preservatives and its main use is to change the color of
the wood (Wood Preservatives, 2003). Enamel is another preservative that we do
not know the roots of for sure. All that we know is that enamel is extremely
durable and can be the main preservative that protects wood (Wood Preservatives,
2003). Linseed oil is made from flax seeds that can be found right here in America.
Linseed oil was actually made as a paint but later became known as a wood
preservative (Hendricks, Hoffman, and Powell, 2011). The final wood preservative
is polyurethane. Polyurethane has many different chemical recipes, each and every
one doing something different than the last. With that, it is impossible to trace each
and every recipe back to its roots. What we do know is that polyurethane is a very
hard clear coating that can cover wood and protect is from wood decay (Wood
Preservatives, 2003). To summarize, knowing the history of wood
The European Theatre of World War I
First things first, for anyone who has chosen to research the topic about European
War will understand the big title known as The European Theatre of World War II.
For those who don t know, the European Theatre of World War II was one of the
biggest, most horrendous eras of heavy fighting. This was held across Europe from
Germanys invasion of Poland commencing on September 1, 1939 until the end of the
war with the German unconditional surrender on May 8, 1945. The allied forces
fought the Axis powers on two fronts which took place on the Eastern and Western
front.
In Europe 1939, Germany and Russia formed a pact to invade Poland and divide it
between them. Shortly after on September 1, 1939 Germany invaded whilst Russia
followed and that s how World War II broke out. France, Britain and the countries of
the Commonwealth declared war on Germany but provided little military support to
Poland other than a small French attack into the Saarland. On September 17, 1939,
after signing an armistice with Japan, the Soviets launched their own invasion of
eastern Poland. By early October, Poland was divided among Germany, the Soviet
Union, Lithuania and Slovakia, although Poland never officially surrendered and
continued the fight outside its borders as its Government was based in London.
In 1941, after the German invasion, the holocaust was gradually becoming more of a
concern. The Holocaust was an intentional systematic eradication of six million Jews
and undesirables by the Nazis
The Roman Empire and the Han Empire
After the collapse of the Qin Dynasty in the third century BCE, the Han Empire
emerged as a massive imperial power in the East. Its culture was compiled upon the
teachings of Confucius and ancestor worship. Meanwhile in the west, the Romans
solidified their authority as being a dominant force in the Mediterranean. Both the
Roman Empireand the Han Empire were similar in their governments as they both
supported a centralized government. On the other hand, they were different in the
manner of how they dealt with foreigners and outside visitors. Although the Han
Empire and the Roman Empire were alike, there are more differences between them
than similarities. One difference between the two empires were their treatment with
foreigners. The Hans believed that they had no need for them to be included within
the Empire. However, this was not the case for the Romans. The Roman Empire
would accept outsiders and tolerate them. The Empire treated the foreigners well
even to the extent of making them citizens. During this time however, the Romans
did not have enough people to go to war. This led them into giving the barbarians
jobs in the military. Soon, there were so many foreign soldiers to the degree that
almost 70% of the entire army were barbarians. The reason why the Hans looked
down upon the barbarians was because the Hans thought that the barbarians were
inferior. One reason why the Hans thought that they were so superior was their belief
of the Mandate of Heaven. The
Legally-Binding Agreements
Legally binding forest agreements have failed due to the inability to reach consensus
on a wide range of objectives. Unable to agree on objectives, global forest treaties and
negotiations since 1992 have become non binding with strong opposition. Though
hundreds of negotiated proposals have been raised, conflicting negotiations prevent
the establishment of agreements due economic concerns and the multiplicity of
unclear objectives. Mackenzie suggests that the repeated failure to generate legally
binding agreements by international parties results from issues that are too complex
to be resolved by a single instrument (251). As such, there are 18 international treaties
which relate to forests (250), that attempt to address smaller components of these
large issues, yet there are none currently in place that are... Show more content on

While most parties concerned with forest treaties acknowledge the efficacy of a
potential legally binding treaty, debates have demonstrated a wide range of interests
and unclear objectives such as land tenure, control and ownership, the role of trade in
sustainable forest management and the rights of indigenous (250). Moreover, forest
resources and land are critical in economic development, raising issues for both
developing and developed nations. Political and economic driven actors prioritize
short term economic growth despite resulting forest loss and degradation, in the
absence of legally binding governance (Mackenzie, 250). The complexity of the
challenge is illuminated by the absence of a strong governance system, and the
presence of agricultural pressures, undefined ecosystem services, ineffective
enforcement in forested developing countries, and north south divisions (250).
Through these conflicting objectives and interests, parties have not been able to
reach consensus on a single agreement that would effectively address all these
varying interests and
The Role Of Metropolitan Filaret s Divine Context And...
The influence of Metropolitan Filaret s divine context and ambiguity are evident in
the document. In speaking to the unity of God and tsar, Metropolitan Filaret makes
the connection very clear. He wrote, We thus became convinced that the problem
of improving the condition of serfs was a sacred inheritance bequeathed to Us by
Our predecessors, a mission which, in the course of events, Divine Providence has
called upon Us to fulfill. The focus is that the time for emancipation is now, whereas
it had not been time before, and that the tsar is fulfilling the will of God. While there
is some discussion of the specific terms of emancipation such as the temporary

In addition to being able to read scripture themselves, peasants also could read church
liturgy and practices, which created questions and enabled peasants to see how
insufficient their parish priest was. Peasants began sending petitions and grievances
to local and national church offices; they wanted increased authority over their own
parishes, something the Orthodox Church did not want to give. The Russian Orthodox
Church viewed this increased interest among the peasantry very negatively. The
Church often interpreted peasant activism as a negative consequence of secular
enlightenment that ultimately would harm the Orthodox faith through the dilution of
its traditional hierarchical principles. Thus, the church became increasingly
reactionary and isolated itself further from the peasantry interacting even less and
trying to distance the peasantry from doctrine and liturgy. The Church saw peasant
interest as directly undermining their power instead of a development of a more
devoted populous. This led to the paradox of a weakening political and culture power
of the Church while simultaneously the peasantry became increasingly devoted to
localized religious practice. The gap widened even further between the Church and
the peasantry due to the Church s fear and mistrust of the peasantry. As the Church
distanced themselves from the peasantry in relational and spiritual realms, it also
tried to reassert its control over the peasantry, primarily through
The Importance Of Special Needs In Special Education
I am currently teaching a practicum where my students (who are actually teachers
getting their master s degree in special education) are teaching students with special
needs. Some of these teachers are encountering students with autism for the first time
and have felt some anxiety about this so they asked for some ideas and strategies to
help them in the classroom. These are some of the suggestions that I have given them
that I have used in the classroom successfully.
1. Use Task Analysis very specific, tasks in sequential order.
2. Always keep your language simple and concrete. Get your point across in as few
words as possible. Typically, it s far more effective to say Pens down, close your
journal and line up to go outside than It looks so nice outside. Let s do our science
lesson now. As soon as you ve finished your writing, close your books and line up at
the door. We re going to study plants outdoors today .
3. Teach specific social rules/skills, such as turn taking and social distance.
4. Give fewer choices. If a child is asked to pick a color, say red, only give him two to
three choices to pick from. The more choices, the more confused an autistic child will
become.
5. If you ask a question or give an instruction and are greeted with a blank stare,
reword your sentence. Asking a student what you just said helps clarify that you ve
been understood.
6. Avoid using sarcasm. If a student accidentally knocks all your papers on the floor
and you say Great! you
Should Abortion Be A Woman Right
Final Draft Paper
Jonathan Santiago
ITT Technical Institute
Introduction Abortion is a topic that creates an argument in different aspects and
everyone likes to be involved in it to share values and opinions. Most people when
hear the word abortion the first thing that comes to their head is hate or not wanted.
In this introduction I will offer information related to this topic in order to inform
people. In the 1973 abortion was prohibited during the first three months in all states
by the Supreme Court. The decision of a woman to terminate their pregnancy is inside
the right of privacy which gives the right to terminate their pregnancy during the first
three months. There are some serious consequences when an abortion is performed
which are needed to have in mind. There are cases where the abortion is an option if
the fetus is coming with a delicate disease or put the mother in imminent danger that
it is either provoke by the mother or a genetic disorder. Abortion should be a woman
right due to the fact that some woman s are victims of rape. There are sexual
transmitted diseases that can put the life of the fetus in high risk or be fatal to the
fetus.
The rape and incest is very common in our society due to the fact that some of
them are being raped by a close persons or family members. Most of the woman s
in the United States are more likely to be victims of rape between the late teens and
mid twenty s. Persons with disabilities are also in risk due to
Compare And Contrast Between A Rock And A Hard Place
The book I just finished reading is Between a Rock and a Hard Place, I thought it
was a really good book. The book tells the true story about Aron Ralston and the
how he got his arm trapped under a boulder and how he had the courage to cut off
his own arm to save his life. The book is very similar to the movie. The first reason
that I liked this book was that it showed how dedicated he was to stay alive. For
example, when Ralston had his arm trapped under the boulder, he drank little of the
water he had so he could survive for a period of time. When his water went empty,
he drank his own blood and urine to stay hydrated. The second reason I liked this
book was that it showed more to Ralston than just having his arm trapped under a
rock. Although
Bicep Curl Arm Strength
Strength is an asset most people seem to struggle building. Whether it be a lack of
motivation, or simply not knowing where to start, it proves itself to be a taxing
regime. The arms have many types of workouts to build muscle. However, before
moving into the more complex ones, everyone must start with the basics. Starting
off, it is good to find a dumbbell of comfortable weight that one can move freely
with no issue. In three easy steps, the Bicep Curl is one of the best workouts to
start building arm strength. The first step will be the stance, as posture and form are
the most important parts of any workout. To start, make sure to have a firm grip on
the dumbbell of choice, fingers facing upwards. Make sure the upper arm is tight to

A Brief Note On Occupational Safety And Health
Occupational Safety and Health refers to the concerns of safety and health of
people occupied in employment or work services. Over the years the safety
precautions have changed quite a bit and now we are more precautious to people s
safety while they work, even though we could always improve more.
Worker deaths in America are down on average , from about 38 worker deaths a day
in 1970 to 12 a day in 2012, injuries and illnesses are down from 10.9 incidents per
100 workers in 1972 to 3.4 per 100 in 2011 (Commonly Used Statistics).
With that being said it is clearly shown how we have improved a lot from the 1970 s
to 2012. In this paper I will address three individuals work experiences, ranging from
ages 19 to 80. All of our work experiences are fairly different from each other. The
first individual, Felicita, who is 80 years of age, has worked in multiple factories
during her lifetime. The first factory she worked in was in 1952 when she was only
19 years of age and first came to America. She worked in a factory making belts and
was paid about seventy five cents an hour. Another factory she worked in shortly after
the previous one, she was making purses for about one dollar an hour. Upon talking
to my grandmother, Felicita, she stated that the hazards she faced in these factories
were machine hazards, factory fires, hazards from dust, and pollution. The machine
hazards included cutting tools with no guards, lifting heavy items on the machine
with no support, loud noises
Domestic Eco-Terrorism, PETA, ALF ELF Essay
Domestic Eco Terrorism, PETA, ALF ELF
With President Bush s War on Global Terrorism making front page news reports and
filling the news waves on the evening news, the American Public might not realize
that there is in fact a war of sorts going on behind the scenes in their own country.
This is the war on home grown terrorist organizations. Moreover, it is the war to fight
against the ALF (Animal Liberation Front) and its environmental little brother spin off
the ELF or Environmental Liberation Front. The Domestic TerrorismSection Chief of
the FBI James Jarboe states that, the ELF and ALF have become one of the most
active extremist elements in the United States (Pierce). In another article, John Lewis

While the ALF concentrates primarily on the Liberation of animals, the ELF or Earth

primarily large corporations that would harm the environment for financial gains for
just harm the environment out of ignorance. According to ADL.org, in 1980 a group
called Earth First! was formed. The idea of the group was to protect the environment.
But, some of its members didn t like the pacifist way of doing business, so they
formed the Earth Liberation Front in England in 1992. (ADL.org) This group
prefers to use non violent methods of burning down buildings and destroying
property. They say it s non violent because it doesn t target human or animal related
targets. The ELF has set some new record for property damage in the United
States; in 1997 they claimed responsibility for a fire that destroyed a $12 million
dollar ski lodge in Vail, Colorado. The group said that the lodge threatened key Lynx
habitat in the state. They were also involved in $50 Million dollar arson in California
where a Hummer dealership was destroyed because they vehicles murder the natural

Michael Oher
Did you know that before he was a professional football player Michael Oher had a
very unique, underprivileged early life, and was born into a terrible circumstance?
He says, It s true that we can t help the circumstances we re born into and some of
us start out in a much tougher place than other people. But just because we started

drug addict, and his dad was murdered in prison. He was in a bunch of foster homes,

Unfortunately, his father was murdered in prison so he could not overcome that
obstacle. However, he was taken in by a foster family named the Tuohy s who
made him happy and treated him like real family. Biography.com says, The young
boy was finally taken in by Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy when he was 16, and the
Tuohys became Oher s legal guardians when he was 17 . In his junior year of high
school, Oher began to excel in football. By the beginning of his senior year, Oher
was the starting left tackle on the varsity football team. He quickly became a top
football prospect in the state of Tennessee, which led to multiple scholarship offers
from Division 1 schools. This means that when he was taken in by Sean and Leigh
Anne Tuohy and they became his legal guardians he began to excel at school and
football. His mother was taken into a rehabilitation center, but this was an
improvement since at least Michael was able to see her sometimes. His other

obstacles he still overcame them with a determined attitude and the help of some

Michael had many people that supported him. Those people include the Tuohy s,

Argumentative Essay On Animal Assisted Therapy
Man s Best Friend... and Therapist Animal assisted therapy is used in hospitals and
colleges throughout the United States and all around the world . Dogs, cats, fish,
birds and many other types of animals are used to help calm people and bring them
a sense of companionship. The animals also provide unconditional love for people
who feel depressed and alone. Some doctors may oppose this type of therapybecause
they do not believe that it actually helps patients, but studies throughout the years
have shown that this can be the best option for students in college and patients that
are terminally ill. Statistics have shown that animal assisted therapy is one of the best
options of therapy for people who struggle with depression, anxiety, stress, and many
other mental illnesses. This type of therapy can also help with physical ailments.
Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) has been proven to be beneficial to a multitude of
people in many different situations. One of the main reasons that Animal Assisted
Therapy is so important and beneficial is because it has been proven to lower blood
pressure in adults and adolescents. After spending just 12 minutes with a therapy
animal, a study showed that the adults participating in this project experienced a
drop in numbers of their blood pressure. The adults also reported that they had a 24
percent decrease in their anxiety levels. Researchers also proved that the harmful
toxins in the subjects bodies decreased by a very significant amount
Impressions of the Meaning and Significance of African...
In his book African Religions and Philosophy professor John Mbiti continually
explains that all African cultures and societies, regardless of differences in national
origin, language, or ethnicity are deeply religious. African traditional religion is so
much a part of the African traditional heritage that it is found in every aspect of life.
Traditional religionfor the Africans is the normal way of looking at the world and
experiencing life itself. Therefore, as Mbiti interprets, A study of these religious
systems is, therefore, ultimately a study of the peoples themselves in all the
complexities of both traditional and modern life. (p.1). This statement, along with
many others similar to it in the first few pages of chapter one... Show more content on

Furthermore, it is not unusual for an African Christian to participate in Christian
religious practice by going to church on Sunday and then to participate in African
religious practice later on in the same week.
At first this was something I did not truly understand because in my religion
(Judaism) I believe we are taught to only participate in the practice/rituals of one
single faith, the Jewish faith. However, my confusion was cleared up by professor
Mbiti s following explanation:
It is not enough to learn and embrace a faith which is active once a week, either on
Sunday or Friday, while the rest of the week is virtually empty. It is not enough to
embrace a faith which is confined to a church building or mosque, which is locked
up six days and opened only once or twice a week. Unless Christianity and Islam
fully occupy the whole person as much as, if not more than, traditional religions do,
most converts to these faiths will continue to revert to their old beliefs and practices
for perhaps six days a week, and certainly in times or emergency and crisis. (p.3)
When evaluating these statements in the context of what I had learned earlier
regarding how African traditional religions permeate every aspect of a person s life,
everything in existence has actual or potential religious significance, and that there is
no dichotomy between
Parallel Web Pages in English and Regional Languages
Language identification of written text in the domain of Latin script based
languages is a well studied research area. However, new challenges arise when it is
applied to non Latin script based languages, particularly for Asian languages web
pages. Web page classification creates new research challenges because of the noisy
nature of the pages. It s no doubt that English has been the predominant language for
the World Wide Web
since its inception and so it s usage is confined to a specific
community of people have a good grasp of the English language. The serviceability
factors of the Internet have proven to be beneficial to a highly educated society,
because of the linguistic barrier. The solution to this problem is to provide web pages
in regional languages. Our aim is to provide web pages in pairs, of Devanagari and
English web pages if it exists. In order to provide parallel Web Pages in native
language Hindi or Marathi on the fly we require classification of web pages in
Devanagari and English. We had experiment on 500 web pages in English and
Devanagari web pages and could label it correctly.

the animals. Have you ever wonder what the animals felt like when they are in the
zoos do they feel happy or do they feel sad? Have you ever walked around in the zoos
and you seen the animals locked up in small cages?Have you ever seen an animal

The Fight Against International Terrorism
As the fight against international terrorism gears up for renewed hostilities in areas
of the Middle East against old foes and new organizations that have brought their
extremists views to the battlefields, the socio economic issues currently plaguing the
stability of Yemen provide the backdrop for the most potent threat to the U.S.
homeland and its interests in the region. This Red Cell Analysis will provide a
historical overview and internal look at the terrorist organization known as Al Qa ida
in the Arabian Peninsula while uncovering which intelligence collection programs
housed throughout the U.S. Intelligence Community are best suited at countering and
defeating the tactics used by this often violent extremist organization. Additionally,
this paper will distinguish which members of the IC will be the best collectors of the
needed intelligence to thwart any future attacks plotted by this organization as well as
identifying the proper intelligence analysis strategies that will be most effective in
eliminating this group and their objectives from the battlefield. Since earning its
designation as a Foreign Terrorist Organization on January 19, 2010, the group s
goals have remained consistent with the standards and disciplines found throughout
militant jihad, which aims to purge Muslim countries of Western influence and
replace secular apostate governments with fundamentalist Islamic regimes observant

Initialism Of The LGBT Community
LGBT, or GLBT, is an initialism that stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and
transgender [3]. In use since the 1990s, the term is an adaptation of the initialism
LGB, which was used to replace the term gay in reference to the LGBT community
beginning in the mid to late 1980s [4]. Activists believed that the term gay
community did not accurately represent all those to whom it referred [5]. In 2016
GLAAD s Media Reference Guide states that LGBTQ is the preferred initialism,
being more inclusive of younger members of the communities who embrace queer as
a self descriptor [6].

Trotsky s Assessment Of The Continuity Between Stalinism...
Trotsky s assessment of the continuity between Stalinism and Leninism Bolshevism is
valid to a certain extent. It is axiomatic that there is a multiplicity of factors that seem
to correlate Stalinism to Leninism, thus adding validity to Trotsky s assessment of the
continuity. However the straight line theory of the continuity between the two
ideological phenomena, implied by Trotsky, undermines the divergence between
them. Both phenomenons rose up in the Soviet Russia during the times of civil
unrest, but Stalinism can be seen as more of a revolution from above whilst the
Bolsheviks Leninismcan be seen as more of a revolution from below .
The historical development of Stalinism can be traced and analyzed through its
several stages. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, elements of discontinuity are also present as the revolution was perverted
by the Stalinist structure as the dictatorship of the proletariat soon became the
dictatorship of Stalin. Furthermore Stalin s theory of Socialism in One Country
betrayed that of the Marxist Leninist theory of propagating socialism to other
countries.
In order to fully assess the validity of the statement, two fundamental factors must we
must firstly look at. Firstly the aspects of continuity that may have lead to the the
statement.Secondly, factors within the Stalinist regime that illustrate aspects of
discontinuity from the Bolshevik regime. Lastly, the reason for the characterization,
on behalf of Trotsky to possibility to give validity to the Stalinist regime, likening that
to the popularized Leninist Bolshevik regime.
Why does Trotsky legitimize the Stalinist regime as being linked to the Bolsheviks?
Trotsky s assessment of the of the Stalinist phenomenon certainly seems unexpected
considering that any link between the two systems would certainly seem to
undermine Trotsky s creditably as the appropriate successor of Lenin.
Trotsky was a renowned revolutionary who played a pivotal role during the
Bolshevik Revolutionary. He was born on November 7th, 1879 in Yanovka, Ukraine,
to Jewish parents. In many regards, Trotsky
The Human Impact On Natural Environment
The human impact on natural environment is one of the most pressing issues of
contemporary times and a subject of discussion. The increasing human population
and the rising level of technology both have become significant factors in raising the
environmental problems. There are several environmental problems around the world
today which occurred due to both natural and humancauses. Of all the global
environmental problems, desertificationis, perhaps, the most threatening problem.
Desertification is the expansion of desert lands into previously non desert areas.
Today in many countries lands are becoming into deserts, and due to the conditions in
the world soon we will not be able to take it back. There are two main causes of
desertification, one is human activities and the other is climatic variations. The first
and the most important cause of desertification is human activities. Human causes
includes Overgrazing, Over cultivation, Mismanagement of irrigation, Deforestation,
Urban and industrial activities, mining and exploitation of resources etc. All human
causes are related to over population. Due to overpopulationthere is great pressure on
land and resources. According to Neo Malthusian, demographic pressure leads to
overuse and misuse of resources (Malthus, 1798). Earlier desertification was only a
natural formation but day by day humans are becoming responsible for it because of
land mismanagements. One theory argues that resources under common

Driving On The Road Rage
Drivers come in many different types, and each has their own characteristics.
When you are driving, you can encounter a lot of different types of drivers. The
four most known ones are the aggressive driver, the speeder, the kind driver, and
the multitasker. All four of these characteristics are very different so you will be
able to tell which drivers fall in which categories. Every driver has a destination they
are trying to reach and these four characteristics of drivers have a different way of
reaching that destination. When you are drivingon the roads, you will likely
encounter an aggressive driver. They usually make themselves noticeable by
cutting people off and yelling at other drivers. They seem to always be in a rush to
get to their destination so they will do what they need to do to get there. Other
aggressive drivers can be the type to yell and curse at other drivers because of
frustration which is known as roadrage. Someone that has road rage typically will
get upset over something that is not a big deal and yell at other drivers. These type
of drivers are the ones people try to avoid so they do not get involved in a
confrontation so they just ignore them. No matter where you are driving, there are
drivers that speed all around you. Some people will go twenty miles an hour over
the speed limit just because they want to get to their destination faster. They will cut
people off just to be able to maintain a high speed. There are many risks when

Without measuring the cost the project cannot be managed. In order to size the

new software measurement paradigm. There are some attributes and applications
which needs to be identified.
In the industry the sizing measures are generally used to normalize the different

As a result of this analysis following information was derived. The Testable
requirements would give a much higher weight age to a user interface than command
line interface. Testable requirements can also be used to measure and analyze a
system in ways that are not possible with other measures. Because testable
requirements can measure external user requirements as well as internal.
Regarding technical requirements, it is possible not only to size the user
requirements, but also to quantify their impact on the technical design. The testable
requirement paradigm does not require a complexity factor to account for this.
Rather, the complexity will manifest itself in the size of the design, or the size of
individual programs. Complexity, in essence, means that there are more testable
requirements somewhere.
Due to above reasons this technique as a sizing tool has been more effective compare
to LOC and FP.
However understanding, controlling, managing, and communicating system scope is
critical . If there is scope creep the estimation could go wrong.
Article Analysis
In this article author has given an insight the reader about testable requirements as a

your cat walked into my path or your cat tried to trip me. When this happens people
are having two conflicting views at the same exact time, theory often suggests that
the brain wants to eliminate dissonance whenever possible. The brain does this by
changing the way you feel about or perceive certain things, or in other words,
changing your attitudes and beliefs. So instead of just admitting they made a mistake
in kicking the cat and feeling apologetic, people use cognitive dissonance to turn the
situation into the cat s fault for getting in their way, thus making them feel better
about themselves.
Rationalization
By far the most common rationalization I hear is when people don t get into a
school they really wanted to, or don t get a job they want, and then proceed to say
something like That s ok, I didn t want to go there anyway or It s fine, that school
wasn t the place for me . Rationalizations are often used to avoid admitting some sort
of disappointment, for this reason it is a very ... Show more content on

Repression is when someone unconsciously blocks thoughts, feelings, impulses, or
actions that are considered wrong or unacceptable. A very common example of
repression is a repressed memory. Sometimes if people have a damaging or scary
event as a child, their memory of that event will become blocked or fade over time,
thus becoming repressed. Repressed is defined as being kept suppressed and
unconscious in one s mind . This is your brains way of protecting you from this
image or memory and thus this can be a very powerful defense mechanism because
your body is almost able to shield you from the hurt, damage, or pain that this
memory has
How Different Chemicals Affect Surface Tension
The aim of my experiment was to figure out how different chemicals affect surface
tension. I chose this experiment because I have always wondered how a drop of
water stays together as it falls through the air. My independent variable was the
different chemicals used. My dependant variable was which liquid stayed on the
penny best. The control in this experiment was pure water. My hypothesis was; if
water mixed with salt and water mixed with detergent is tested, then detergent will
cause the surface tensionto weaken the most. By definition, Surface tension is the
property of the surface of a liquid that allows it to resist an external force, due to
the cohesive nature of its molecules (USGS). Molecules in a drop of water cling to
each other. This is why they can stay together as they fall through the air (Wick 9).
In addition, water molecules at the surface of a liquid form stronger bonds
(USGS). This is because they have no adjacent molecules on top of them so they
exert more powerful forces to molecules on and below the surface of a liquid
(USGS). For example, water striders can glide on the surface of water because their
mass is not strong enough to break the surface tension (USGS). The dependent
variable in this experiment was, which liquid stayed on the penny best. The
independent variable was the different chemicals used.
Water droplets form spheres because they are pulled by the cohesive forces of the
surface layer (USGS). A drop of water in its smallest size is a

process as acrylic nails. The technician will apply a combination of a liquid

How Tunisia Changed My Life
It s funny, how we humans try to prepare ourselves mentally for a monumental
moment in our life, we envision the moment a million times genuinely believing
that, that s the way it will occur, and then when we truly think we ve actually
succeeded at it, the life altering moment comes and you realize that no amount of
preparation could have prepared us for it, The moment when your dream becomes
a reality. The feeling is indescribable; it sweeps you off your feet and knocks the
wind out of you. You suddenly feel hopeless not knowing what to do or say, all those
times you relied on your mindto save you are gone, because in that moment, your
mind is as in awe as you are. This was the feeling I felt when I stepped of the plane,
in Tunisia
It all happened on June 16th 2012, the trip that changed my life forever. Let s
rewind a little, ever since I was 10 years old I dreamed of embarking on a trip half
away across the world, where I would find myself immersed in the culture and
engulfed by the traditions. I often dreamed of finding my true self among the ruins
and the shores. I wanted to be high upon the mountains looking down onto the land
hoping, praying, that I would find my calling in the world. I yearned to become one
not only with the people but also with myself. I envisaged the day where I would
become a part of the country physically, and emotionally. My dream finally came true
on a fateful day in June, when I stepped foot onto my true home, Tunisia.
Questions flooded my
Comparison Of Vivaldi And Bach
Both Vivaldi and Bach were incredibly talented, and both have a distinct sound that
is fairly simple to notice. If a teacher were to play one of Vivaldi s works that had
never been heard before, and a work of Bach that had never been heard before, the
students could probably tell immediately the composer of each one. Why would it
be so easy o tell? Vivaldi had a habit of being more melodic, and focused on shifting
rhythms. His main works were concertos, a few choral works, some operas, and a
few sonatas. While Bach wrote in a massive amount of genre, his work focuses
strongly on counterpoint and polyphony. Bach and Vivaldi composed their musicin
different styles because of their influences. Some of their work will be discussed so

Vivaldi grew up in a Catholic family. His father was a talented violinist and would
be his first teacher. This allowed them to perform together. He also took lessons
from a choral teacher who knew violin. Vivaldi loves speed. At age 15, he began
studying for the priesthood, which gave him 10 years to study and develop the
musical and composing talents that is displayed in his works. Vivaldi spent his
entire life, other than the last six or so years, with his father. As a child, they
toured Venice together. Then, later on as a man, he toured Italy and later Europe.
Vivaldi and his father were a pair and it seems that they held a good relationship.
His father helped to write out some of the pieces that Vivaldi would think of. He
preferred a combination of the choral religious music, dramatic operatic, and classics
of Italy. His most influential works were written for the orchestra of a Venetian girls
orphanage where he was music director. It was for them that he wrote his famous
concertos. Vivaldi also invented the concerto grosso.
Vivaldi and Bach have a relationship that surpasses their skills. In this, surprisingly,
Vivaldi was the teacher, and Bach the student. Bach really appreciated Vivaldi
because he transcribed several of his concertos. Vivaldi introduced a rhythmic
liveliness and harmonic clarity that captivated Bach. He added to the blend of French
dance genres, ornamentation, and German counterpoint in his inscriptions of
Baroque style.
Essay On Air Pollution
Energy is essential to life. Without it, billions of people would be left cold and
hungry. The major source of energy comes from fossil fuels, and the dominant fossil
fuels used today by most industrialized and developing countries are oil, coal, and
natural gas. This burning of fossil fuels is causing several health and environmental
issues.
The first issue is air pollution. As many of you already know, burning fossil fuels
emits several air pollutants such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide
and the most common pollutant, carbon dioxide. These harmful gases are toxic to
both the environment and public health.
Another issue associated with air pollution is acid rain. Acid rain is formed when

Nevertheless, there is one simple solution to this global crisis:
The hydrogen fuel cell.
Fuel cells are used in a wide range of portable, stationary and transport applications,
such as battery chargers and home heating, but the fuel cell is best known for
powering cars. Fuel cells are quite possibly the most versatile energy solution ever
invented.
The fuel cell seems like the perfect energy source: Quiet, clean and independent of
gasoline. In a fuel cell vehicle, the fuel cell transforms hydrogen and oxygen into
electricity, and the left over heat and water is all that it emits. Most importantly, the
fuel cell is environmentally friendly.
Take NASA as an example. NASA is a world known space program, and their
technology expands the frontiers of knowledge and capabilities in aeronautics,
science, and space. NASA develops the latest innovative technology and has the best
scientists and engineers from around the world working for them.
Quote from NASA
Producing power without damaging our environment is a continuing challenge.
Fossil fuels like gasoline, coal, and jet fuel are non renewable, and burning these
fuels is increasing air pollution and harms the environment. Batteries have limited
lifetimes and need to be disposed of in hazardous waste landfills. Many
environmentally friendly alternatives (solar, wind, hydroelectric, and geothermal
power) can only be used in specific environments. In contrast, hydrogen fuel cells
have near zero
Descriptive Essay On Hippies
Hippies
When I think about the mountains my mind automatically goes to hippies. So I
thought visiting Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg was fitting for this essay. During my
time in Tennessee, I attended a car show and I saw many Hippie vans and old style
classic Volkswagen beetles. We walked the strip in Gatlinburg and I came in close
contact with many people who I thought were pretty close to Hippies. The strip had
tons of restaurants on each side and stores were filled with so many different
people. But mostly everyone was in touch with their hippie side or nature side.
Many men had long untamed beards while the women had super long hair and they
all seemed to dress free . There was a moonshine tasting store and right in front of it
had a stage and three guys (very in touch with the natural look) with long beards and
they were playing banjos and guitars.
They were very much in touch with their hippie side . There was one certain store
that stood out to me because it had so many crazy colors and peace signs
everywhere. It also had 420 written everywhere and Bob Marley blankets displayed
along with hoodies which I m sure you understand what they were referring to. At
the car show, I also observed the people around the cars. Many men like I had seen
before in Gatlinburg sported the long straggly beards. Pigeon Forge had a lot of
RV campgrounds and tons of gorgeous cabins you can rent out and stay in. Much
like I said in my outline, Hippies love to hang out in social events and I m sure there
were many more hippie like groups/people in Tennessee I just didn t get the chance
to see them. I noticed there was a lot of older women at the car show dressed what
you would put in the same category of a hippie. I also associate drinking (not much
like the alcohol we have today) with hippies. Almost every of age person was
drinking or already drunk. Since marijuana is illegal in Tennesseeso I didn t see
anyone out in public smoking marijuana. Hippies are known as the free spirited
group and they love to congregate together to create peace instead of violence.
During my time in Tennessee I heard a lot of music, it overpowered everything.
Guitars and banjos being played, to just a song
Oppression Of Women In Shakespeare s The Comedy Of
Errors
Roland Barthes once said literature is the question minus the answer. In
Shakespeare s The Comedy of Errors, a central question is asked concerning what
about a women and her relationships is revealed when they are faced with
oppression and attempt to resist and question it? What about a woman is revealed
when they accept and enforce patriarchy? These question are replied to in multiple
ways to different extents and reveals the play s meaning of the work as a whole:
when women question norms, they will have their beliefs dismissed and become a
subject of scrutiny. In The Comedy of Errors, Antipholus of Ephesus s wife, Adriana,
is first introduced questioning boundaries placed on women in her society.
Throughout the play, Adriana voices her annoyance with the restrictions placed upon
her by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Adriana and Luciana discuss the liberties that men acquire that women don t,
Luciana is exhibited as being extremely traditional when she justifies why women
are undeserving of the same rights men possess, saying Why, too much freedom
leads to woe. There s nothing under heaven that doesn t have its limits. The beasts
on the earth, the fish in the sea, and the birds in the sky are all subject to the males
of their species and under their control. Men, who are nearest to God, are the
masters of all these creatures. And men the lords of the wide world and wild wat ry
seas, endued with intellectual sense and souls, of more preeminence than fish and
fowls, are masters to their females, and their lords. Then let your will attend on their
accords. This interaction shows Adriana as being progressive and aware a

Analysis Of Daddy By Sylvia Plath
Daddy by Sylvia Plath is a poem that explores the persona of a 40 year old woman
whose father died when she was 10. Despite the fact that Plath denied that it was in
anyway autobiographical, the reader cannot fail to notice the similarities between the
life of the persona and Plath. Throughout the poem we are faced which a strain of
imagery; imagery which shows the personas extreme anger through connotations to
being in a concentration camp:
Chuffing me off like a Jew. A Jew to Dachau, Auschwitz, Belsen
Here we see that the speaker feels persecuted by the memory of her father just as the
Jews were persecuted under the Nazi state. The connotations of chuffing conveys that
she feels that when her father died he almost gave her no time ... Show more content

The persona feels trapped in the moment of her father s death, and she feels mentally
and physically unable to move on and grow despite the death occurring 30 years ago:
Black shoe in which I have lived like a foot
The metaphor created here is representative of the pain her father causes for her.
The implications of this have caused her to be crushed, tortured and twisted, as she
has been held captive by the death for since she was 10 years old; this prohibiting
her from developing into an adult. She refers to her father has black shoe which
conveys through the word choice of black that he is evil, but it also has connotations
to death. The reader is also shocked to see that she feels her father has fed off her
existence since his death:
For thirty years, poor and white
The contrast between the speaker being white and her father being black suggest
that she see s herself as the polar opposite of him. It also suggests that she has been
drained of all life, this is the introduction to the vampire imagery we see elsewhere in
the poem. This imagery makes clear that her father haunts her with her statements like
bit my pretty red heart which has connotations to her innocence being lost due to his
death this is conveyed through the word choice of red which suggests youthfulness.
These lines emit her thought of being fuelled by hatred of her father, thus she has an
intense anger for him and the suffering he

Elias Hill Case Study
In 1871, Elias Hill, a preacher testified against the Ku Klux Klan. Hill posed no
physical threat to the organization. At a young age, Hill was stricken with
rheumatism that left him handicapped. However, that did not affect his influence
over many people. Hill s powerful influence derived from his political preaching s.
He was a strong advocate for the Republican party and an educator to black
children. Hill was aware that he would be targeted because the Klan was known to
target black Republican homes. On May 5th, the Klan target Hills home. After
brutally whipping his sister in law, the Klan entered Hills room and dragged him to
the yard. The Klan members then proceeded to whip him and threaten his life. They
demanded that he stop his political
The Bean Trees Mother Figures Essay
The author Barbara Kingsolver once said, Sometimes the strength of motherhood is
greater than natural laws. This means that mothers can go through great lengths and
even break laws for their children. In the book The Bean Trees , Kingsolver portrays
that quote by writing about Taylor s experiences with an abandoned child named
Turtle. Kingsolver included several characters in the book that act as mother figures.
Barbara Kingsolverseems to be saying that a mother does not have to come
biologically through the characters of Taylor, Lou Ann, and Mattie. Lou Ann is a
character that was introduced in the second chapter. Lou Ann is single and has a son
whom she loves. Lou Ann met Taylor later on with the book and got in a huge mutual

Starting right now, you ve only got one Ma in the whole world, (Kingsolver 302).
Taylor made a comeback to Turtle calling Esperanza by Ma by telling Turtle that
she only has one ma in the world and that s is Taylor. Taylor was a character that
was acting as a mother figure only to Turtle. Even though she had a child, Taylor
was still a child inside that tried to avoid pregnancy. Mattie is the older character in
this book that was owned Jesus is Lord Tires and was a character that acted as a
mother to multiple characters. She looked at me the way Mama would have,
(Kingsolver 252). This quote was found near the end of the book that signified
Mattie looking at Taylor and Taylor observing that look and thinking that it is
similar to her real mother s. Mattie gave some money to Taylor for the trip and
Taylor refused to take it, so Mattie said that it was for everyone in the car and gave
her the look that reminded Taylor of her biological mother. I ve got some peanut
butter crackers, Mattie said leaning over Turtle. Will she eat peanut butter? ,
(Kingsolver 252). Mattie seemed worried about Turtle and offered her something
to eat. She acted as a mother figure to Turtle because she fed her and gave her more
food when Turtle hinted for it. Mattie was the one that fit as a mother figure to a lot
of characters in the book. She was the person that led a sanctuary and was the one
who took care of the many. The characters Taylor, Lou Ann, and Mattie were
Monotheistic Religions Did Not Unite Society
We the negative believe that monotheistic religions did not unite society. This is
shown in the Sunni/Shiite split, the great schism and gender roles in Judaism.
The Sunni and Shiite split did the opposite of uniting the religion. The split started a
war within the Muslim religion killing millions. According to Mike Shuster a
professional writer for NPR the violence and war split the small community of
Muslims into two branches that would never reunite. Seeing that these branches of
Islam might not ever reunite how is that uniting society?
Additionally the great schism did the same thing in splitting up society. The great
schism was a huge split within the Christian church. It was between western and
eastern Christian church s. According

  • 1. Bilingual Education Essay Writing an essay on the topic of bilingual education can be quite challenging for several reasons. Firstly, it requires a comprehensive understanding of the concept of bilingual education itself, including its history, theoretical frameworks, and current practices. This necessitates thorough research into academic sources, educational policies, and case studies to provide a well-rounded analysis. Secondly, crafting an essay on this topic involves navigating complex issues related to language acquisition, cultural identity, and educational equity. It requires careful consideration of various perspectives, including the benefits and challenges of bilingual education, its impact on students' academic achievement and socio-cultural development, as well as the practical implications for educators and policymakers. Furthermore, discussing bilingual education often entails addressing controversial debates surrounding language dominance, language preservation, and the effectiveness of different instructional approaches. This requires the ability to critically evaluate competing arguments and present a balanced viewpoint supported by empirical evidence. Additionally, writing an effective essay on bilingual education requires strong analytical and argumentative skills to articulate clear thesis statements, develop coherent arguments, and provide convincing evidence to support claims. Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act Abstract The Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act is a massive piece of financial reform legislation passed by the Obama administration in July 2010 as a response to the financial crisis of 2008. Named after sponsors U.S. Senator Christopher J. Dodd and U.S. Representative Barney Frank, the act s numerous provisions, spelled out over roughly 2,300 pages, are being implemented over a period of several years and are intended to decrease various risks in the U.S. financial system. The law was initially proposed by the Obama administration in June 2009, when the White House sent a series of proposed bills to Congress. A version of the legislation was introduced... To help make them more transparent, a clearinghouse of sorts similar to the stock exchange must be set up so these derivative trades can be transacted in public. But Dodd Frank left it up to the regulators to determine exactly the best way to put this clearinghouse into place. And not all derivatives will be subject to the law. The Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission approved a rule that would exempt some energy companies, hedge funds and banks from derivative oversight. Insurance companies affected by Dodd Frank The law created a new Federal Insurance Office (FIO) under the Treasury Department, which would identify insurance companies, like AIG, that create risk to the entire system. AIG was caught in in a major liquidity crisis when its credit ratings were downgraded in September 2008. The U.S. Federal Reserve Bank had to step in and create an $85 billion emergency fund taxpayer money to help AIG meet increased financial payouts. The new FIO will also gather information about the insurance industry and make sure affordable insurance is available to
  • 3. Should Student Athletes Be Paid One of the most controversial topics involving the NCAA and college sports is the issue of student athlete compensation. Proponents of paying college athletes say that the student athletes who participate in basketball and football bring in large revenues for their universities, the NCAA, and the networks broadcasting games. Student athletes should not be compensated because most universities do not gain revenue from collegeathletics, they are being educated, not exploited, and athletes are treated like campus royalty and have far more perks than everyone else. First of all, student athletes should not be paid because not all universities make a profit from college athletics. In an article by David Welch Suggs, Ph.D., the associate professor ... According to an article on Sirs Issues Researcher, this building is made of sparkling glass and stainless steel, with 40,000 square feet of spaces for college education. These spaces include an auditorium with 114 leather seats, 35 tutor rooms, 25 academic and life advising offices, a conference room, a computer lab, a graphics lab, a library, and a lobby with a wide flat screen TV and plush sofas (Chudacoff). Every one of these spaces is outfitted with state of the art equipment. The author of this article, Let s Not Pay College Athletes, states that virtually all the rooms, technology, and staff are reserved for varsity athletes (Chudacoff). He also noted that the Jaqua Center may be extreme in extravagance, but it is similar to facilities at other elite sports schools like Alabama, Michigan, and Nebraska (Chudacoff). Athletes in very popular sports like basketball and football have benefits that compare with professional athletes (Chudacoff). College athletes have the best coaching, the best medical care, the best trainers, the best weight and conditioning equipment, therapy pools, and devices to speed recovery (Chudacoff). They also receive high quality athletic gear from companies like Nike and are fed nutritious meals

Property Valuation Essay In the case of the awareness creation, 63 respondents, which means majority of the households answered as there was no awareness creation that shows shortcoming on one of procedures of property valuation in expropriation. According to Tony O Sullivan (2003), Housing, which is one of the major types of real property, is an inherently complex commodity with spatial fixity for which many aspects must be taken in to consideration in its valuationand expropriation process. The writer of this study concluded that people who were expropriated had no chance to discuss the economic, social, and cultural aspects in the process of expropriation depending on the above majority response in table(3). It is known that when there is no consideration of property type, on the other hand, there is no selection of valuation method. Because, selection of valuation method and identification of property type mostly go together. Description of the property which is the subject of a valuation report is one of the scientific procedures of valuation (http://www.iacenig.org/CEthics.html). This is realized from the fact that for the selection of valuation method, the available data and the type of property (commercial or residential) plays important role. IA CE (2008) says that, The procedure and method for deciding a given value in question is a matter for the valuer himself to determine. Nevertheless, better valuation practice needs that the method selected be right for the purpose, hold consideration of all the factors that have a bearing on the value, and are presented in a clear and logical way . There are three major types of property valuation methods and selection of the appropriate method according to the condition of the property is the most important precondition to reach at the most accurate value of the property. Regarding this condition, 4(80%) of the expert respondents reacted as there was no consideration of the alternative method in Gimbi town during expropriation. From this response, the researcher approved that there was no concept of valuation methods. Here, what should be understood is that, they use the idea that says current cost or market price as
  • 5. Essay about My Childhood Home The fleeting changes that often accompany seasonal transition are especially exasperated in a child s mind, most notably when the cool crisp winds of fall signal the summer s end approaching. The lazy routine I had adopted over several months spent frolicking in the cool blue chlorine soaked waters of my family s bungalow colony pool gave way to changes far beyond the weather and textbooks. As the surrounding foliage changed in anticipation of colder months, so did my family. My mother s stomach grew larger as she approached the final days of her pregnancy and in the closing hours of my eight summer my mother gently awoke me from the uncomfortable sleep of a long car ride to inform of a wonderful surprise. I had violent, grass stained war games with my neighborhood friends, while my mother worked in her small vegetable garden among the honeybees, and watched things grow. An ever present warming smell of knishes and hot dogs permeated around every inch of my block as the nearby concession pumped a constant flow of fresh food to hungry little leaguers and their families. Looking up, the summer sky looked like an Easter egg God had dipped in blue dye. Those warm summer nights after long days of camp were greatly anticipated events back then. My cousin and I itched with repressed energy throughout the long bus ride from various tri state area attractions. We couldn t wait to get home and see what types of shenanigans we could get into. We couldn t wait to slide down the steep, blue carpeted staircase on our bottoms, and then on our stomachs. Most of all, we couldn t wait to go down to the basement. The basement was better than a toy store. Yes, the old fashioned milk chutein the kitchen wall was enchanting, and the laundry chute was fun because it was big enough to throw down my sisters stuffed companions, so my cousin could catch them below in the laundry room, as our voices echoed up and down the chute. But the basement was better than all of these, better even than sliding down those stairs on rug burned bottoms. It was always deliciously cool down

  • 8. Zoos Should Not Save Animals Zoos are supposedly saving animals right? Zoos have been around for a long time. Their history dates back to when kings and queens still ruled over countries and animals used to be held in captivity, lived in a cage with metal bars and were treated with no regard. Thankfully, zoos procedures have changed and advanced over the ages. Zoos have improved animals habitats and started treating the animals better. Although zoos have given animals better places to live in besides a cage with metal bars, a new question has popped up. Are zoos still good news? The zoodebate has been going on for some time. Zoos shouldn t exist because the animals get very stressed out, the man made habitat conditions still aren t good for animals, and animals are tortured due to lack of necessities. Zoos should close down because stress in animals is very common in zoos. According to the article Zoochosis by Stephanie Santana and Shauwn Lukose, animals in zoos have developed a mental illness called zoochosis. Animals with zoochosis pace back and forth in never ending circles, turn their necks, bob their heads up and down, and even tear holes in their own skin! Zoo animals are so stressed that they want to hurt themselves. Can you imagine being so miserable that it makes you harm yourself? If animals kill themselves with zoochosis, then zoos can t save animals. They give animals a death sentence. Not only that, but the graph Life Span of Elephants in Zoos and the Wild states that female

  • 10. Description Of The Amoeba Naegleria Fowleri Included in the kingdom Protista, the amoeba Naegleria fowleri has proven to be pathogenic when entering the brain through the nasal cavity. Out of the numerous species of Naegleria, only the single celled fowleri is of vital concern to human health. This free living ameboflagellate can be discovered in one of three stages depending on its surroundings (Fero 2010). The protozoan s life cycle consists of a cystic phase which is resistant, a dormant biflagellate phase, and the dangerous trophozoite phase. The waterborne ailment that patients succumb to after inhaling N. fowleri was termed Primary Amebic Meningoencephalitis (PAM) by Butt in 1966 in order to distinguish this central nervous system invasion from other secondary invasions such as the intestinal amoebae Entamoeba histolytica. (Fero 2010). Once enclosed in the brain enormous cell destruction commences and the parasite causes massive inflammation. When in the feeding trophozoite phase, necrosis is inevitable while it emits proteins which allow for the disintegration of the myelin sheaths protective coating. The bodies natural immune responses fail rapidly against the amoeba once it releases its cytotoxic molecules. After as short as one week the patient may fall into a coma from lack of intracranial space to allow for inflammation and edema accompanied by deadly herniation (Pugh Levy 2016) Once initially infected with the parasite, the symptoms of its destruction can easily be mistaken for a severe flu or meningitis caused by bacteria similar to Streptococcus pneumonia or Haemophilus influenzae (General Information. Parasites 2017). Within a week a multitude of warning signs can include heightened body temperature, stiff neck, migraines, sore throat, lack of eating, lack of balance, vomiting, a change in mental status,
  • 11. The Hobbit, By. R. Tolkien Essay For years, people of all ages have enjoyed The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, causing a debate over whether or not this novel should be defined as a children s book. After all, it contains many stereotypes of a children s book, including moral lessons and character growth, yet, avid fans debate that it includes depth and darkness that heighten it to the level of adults. In the end, does it really matter how people view it from the outside? What might otherwise be important is the content it contains. Bilbo Baggins, a small character who goes on huge adventures; someone who has become known throughout the fantasy world and has left a footprint bigger than a giant s. However, this seems like an awfully large reputation for somebody who seems so meek and homely towards the beginning of his journey. Luckily, over the course of his pilgrimage to the Lonely Mountain, he grows in ways that have enabled this persona. Not only does he learn about the world he lives in, but he also becomes more courageous and mature throughout the journey as well. This in total transforms him from the weak link of his traveling company, into the person who become invaluable to finding peace and closure from their quest. Hobbits, as a species, are introduced by the infamous first lines, In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit... it was a hobbit hole, and that means comfort (Tolkien 3). In fact, the ideals of Hobbit society, Bilbo s home values, emphasize the ordinary and habitual, while

All we know today was that it was a more recent invention that has many ingredients of other preservatives and its main use is to change the color of the wood (Wood Preservatives, 2003). Enamel is another preservative that we do not know the roots of for sure. All that we know is that enamel is extremely durable and can be the main preservative that protects wood (Wood Preservatives, 2003). Linseed oil is made from flax seeds that can be found right here in America. Linseed oil was actually made as a paint but later became known as a wood preservative (Hendricks, Hoffman, and Powell, 2011). The final wood preservative is polyurethane. Polyurethane has many different chemical recipes, each and every one doing something different than the last. With that, it is impossible to trace each and every recipe back to its roots. What we do know is that polyurethane is a very hard clear coating that can cover wood and protect is from wood decay (Wood Preservatives, 2003). To summarize, knowing the history of wood
  • 13. The European Theatre of World War I First things first, for anyone who has chosen to research the topic about European War will understand the big title known as The European Theatre of World War II. For those who don t know, the European Theatre of World War II was one of the biggest, most horrendous eras of heavy fighting. This was held across Europe from Germanys invasion of Poland commencing on September 1, 1939 until the end of the war with the German unconditional surrender on May 8, 1945. The allied forces fought the Axis powers on two fronts which took place on the Eastern and Western front. In Europe 1939, Germany and Russia formed a pact to invade Poland and divide it between them. Shortly after on September 1, 1939 Germany invaded whilst Russia followed and that s how World War II broke out. France, Britain and the countries of the Commonwealth declared war on Germany but provided little military support to Poland other than a small French attack into the Saarland. On September 17, 1939, after signing an armistice with Japan, the Soviets launched their own invasion of eastern Poland. By early October, Poland was divided among Germany, the Soviet Union, Lithuania and Slovakia, although Poland never officially surrendered and continued the fight outside its borders as its Government was based in London. In 1941, after the German invasion, the holocaust was gradually becoming more of a concern. The Holocaust was an intentional systematic eradication of six million Jews and undesirables by the Nazis
  • 14. The Roman Empire and the Han Empire After the collapse of the Qin Dynasty in the third century BCE, the Han Empire emerged as a massive imperial power in the East. Its culture was compiled upon the teachings of Confucius and ancestor worship. Meanwhile in the west, the Romans solidified their authority as being a dominant force in the Mediterranean. Both the Roman Empireand the Han Empire were similar in their governments as they both supported a centralized government. On the other hand, they were different in the manner of how they dealt with foreigners and outside visitors. Although the Han Empire and the Roman Empire were alike, there are more differences between them than similarities. One difference between the two empires were their treatment with foreigners. The Hans believed that they had no need for them to be included within the Empire. However, this was not the case for the Romans. The Roman Empire would accept outsiders and tolerate them. The Empire treated the foreigners well even to the extent of making them citizens. During this time however, the Romans did not have enough people to go to war. This led them into giving the barbarians jobs in the military. Soon, there were so many foreign soldiers to the degree that almost 70% of the entire army were barbarians. The reason why the Hans looked down upon the barbarians was because the Hans thought that the barbarians were inferior. One reason why the Hans thought that they were so superior was their belief of the Mandate of Heaven. The

Unable to agree on objectives, global forest treaties and negotiations since 1992 have become non binding with strong opposition. Though hundreds of negotiated proposals have been raised, conflicting negotiations prevent the establishment of agreements due economic concerns and the multiplicity of unclear objectives. Mackenzie suggests that the repeated failure to generate legally binding agreements by international parties results from issues that are too complex to be resolved by a single instrument (251). As such, there are 18 international treaties which relate to forests (250), that attempt to address smaller components of these large issues, yet there are none currently in place that are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While most parties concerned with forest treaties acknowledge the efficacy of a potential legally binding treaty, debates have demonstrated a wide range of interests and unclear objectives such as land tenure, control and ownership, the role of trade in sustainable forest management and the rights of indigenous (250). Moreover, forest resources and land are critical in economic development, raising issues for both developing and developed nations. Political and economic driven actors prioritize short term economic growth despite resulting forest loss and degradation, in the absence of legally binding governance (Mackenzie, 250). The complexity of the challenge is illuminated by the absence of a strong governance system, and the presence of agricultural pressures, undefined ecosystem services, ineffective enforcement in forested developing countries, and north south divisions (250). Through these conflicting objectives and interests, parties have not been able to reach consensus on a single agreement that would effectively address all these varying interests and

In speaking to the unity of God and tsar, Metropolitan Filaret makes the connection very clear. He wrote, We thus became convinced that the problem of improving the condition of serfs was a sacred inheritance bequeathed to Us by Our predecessors, a mission which, in the course of events, Divine Providence has called upon Us to fulfill. The focus is that the time for emancipation is now, whereas it had not been time before, and that the tsar is fulfilling the will of God. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to being able to read scripture themselves, peasants also could read church liturgy and practices, which created questions and enabled peasants to see how insufficient their parish priest was. Peasants began sending petitions and grievances to local and national church offices; they wanted increased authority over their own parishes, something the Orthodox Church did not want to give. The Russian Orthodox Church viewed this increased interest among the peasantry very negatively. The Church often interpreted peasant activism as a negative consequence of secular enlightenment that ultimately would harm the Orthodox faith through the dilution of its traditional hierarchical principles. Thus, the church became increasingly reactionary and isolated itself further from the peasantry interacting even less and trying to distance the peasantry from doctrine and liturgy. The Church saw peasant interest as directly undermining their power instead of a development of a more devoted populous. This led to the paradox of a weakening political and culture power of the Church while simultaneously the peasantry became increasingly devoted to localized religious practice. The gap widened even further between the Church and the peasantry due to the Church s fear and mistrust of the peasantry. As the Church distanced themselves from the peasantry in relational and spiritual realms, it also tried to reassert its control over the peasantry, primarily through

The Importance Of Special Needs In Special Education I am currently teaching a practicum where my students (who are actually teachers getting their master s degree in special education) are teaching students with special needs. Some of these teachers are encountering students with autism for the first time and have felt some anxiety about this so they asked for some ideas and strategies to help them in the classroom. These are some of the suggestions that I have given them that I have used in the classroom successfully. 1. Use Task Analysis very specific, tasks in sequential order. 2. Always keep your language simple and concrete. Get your point across in as few words as possible. Typically, it s far more effective to say Pens down, close your journal and line up to go outside than It looks so nice outside. Let s do our science lesson now. As soon as you ve finished your writing, close your books and line up at the door. We re going to study plants outdoors today . 3. Teach specific social rules/skills, such as turn taking and social distance. 4. Give fewer choices. If a child is asked to pick a color, say red, only give him two to three choices to pick from. The more choices, the more confused an autistic child will become. 5. If you ask a question or give an instruction and are greeted with a blank stare, reword your sentence. Asking a student what you just said helps clarify that you ve been understood. 6. Avoid using sarcasm. If a student accidentally knocks all your papers on the floor and you say Great! you

The book tells the true story about Aron Ralston and the how he got his arm trapped under a boulder and how he had the courage to cut off his own arm to save his life. The book is very similar to the movie. The first reason that I liked this book was that it showed how dedicated he was to stay alive. For example, when Ralston had his arm trapped under the boulder, he drank little of the water he had so he could survive for a period of time. When his water went empty, he drank his own blood and urine to stay hydrated. The second reason I liked this book was that it showed more to Ralston than just having his arm trapped under a rock. Over the years the safety precautions have changed quite a bit and now we are more precautious to people s safety while they work, even though we could always improve more. Worker deaths in America are down on average , from about 38 worker deaths a day in 1970 to 12 a day in 2012, injuries and illnesses are down from 10.9 incidents per 100 workers in 1972 to 3.4 per 100 in 2011 (Commonly Used Statistics). With that being said it is clearly shown how we have improved a lot from the 1970 s to 2012. In this paper I will address three individuals work experiences, ranging from ages 19 to 80. All of our work experiences are fairly different from each other. The first individual, Felicita, who is 80 years of age, has worked in multiple factories during her lifetime. The first factory she worked in was in 1952 when she was only 19 years of age and first came to America. She worked in a factory making belts and was paid about seventy five cents an hour. Another factory she worked in shortly after the previous one, she was making purses for about one dollar an hour. Furthermore, it is not unusual for an African Christian to participate in Christian religious practice by going to church on Sunday and then to participate in African religious practice later on in the same week. At first this was something I did not truly understand because in my religion (Judaism) I believe we are taught to only participate in the practice/rituals of one single faith, the Jewish faith. However, my confusion was cleared up by professor Mbiti s following explanation: It is not enough to learn and embrace a faith which is active once a week, either on Sunday or Friday, while the rest of the week is virtually empty. It is not enough to embrace a faith which is confined to a church building or mosque, which is locked up six days and opened only once or twice a week. Unless Christianity and Islam fully occupy the whole person as much as, if not more than, traditional religions do, most converts to these faiths will continue to revert to their old beliefs and practices for perhaps six days a week, and certainly in times or emergency and crisis. (p.3) When evaluating these statements in the context of what I had learned earlier regarding how African traditional religions permeate every aspect of a person s life, everything in existence has actual or potential religious significance, and that there is no dichotomy between

The four most known ones are the aggressive driver, the speeder, the kind driver, and the multitasker. All four of these characteristics are very different so you will be able to tell which drivers fall in which categories. Every driver has a destination they are trying to reach and these four characteristics of drivers have a different way of reaching that destination. When you are drivingon the roads, you will likely encounter an aggressive driver. They usually make themselves noticeable by cutting people off and yelling at other drivers. They seem to always be in a rush to get to their destination so they will do what they need to do to get there. Other aggressive drivers can be the type to yell and curse at other drivers because of frustration which is known as roadrage. Someone that has road rage typically will get upset over something that is not a big deal and yell at other drivers. These type of drivers are the ones people try to avoid so they do not get involved in a confrontation so they just ignore them. They will cut people off just to be able to maintain a high speed. There are many risks when someone is

Examples Of Cognitive Dissonance Cognitive dissonance An Example of cognitive dissonance is that at my house, my cats can sometimes be tough to see when you are walking, and thus people end up stepping on them or kicking them. The cognitive dissonance here would be that people often like to say your cat walked into my path or your cat tried to trip me. When this happens people are having two conflicting views at the same exact time, theory often suggests that the brain wants to eliminate dissonance whenever possible. The brain does this by changing the way you feel about or perceive certain things, or in other words, changing your attitudes and beliefs. So instead of just admitting they made a mistake in kicking the cat and feeling apologetic, people use cognitive dissonance to turn the situation into the cat s fault for getting in their way, thus making them feel better about themselves. Rationalization By far the most common rationalization I hear is when people don t get into a school they really wanted to, or don t get a job they want, and then proceed to say something like That s ok, I didn t want to go there anyway or It s fine, that school wasn t the place for me . • 43. How Different Chemicals Affect Surface Tension The aim of my experiment was to figure out how different chemicals affect surface tension. I chose this experiment because I have always wondered how a drop of water stays together as it falls through the air. My independent variable was the different chemicals used. My dependant variable was which liquid stayed on the penny best. The control in this experiment was pure water. My hypothesis was; if water mixed with salt and water mixed with detergent is tested, then detergent will cause the surface tensionto weaken the most. By definition, Surface tension is the property of the surface of a liquid that allows it to resist an external force, due to the cohesive nature of its molecules (USGS). Molecules in a drop of water cling to each other. This is why they can stay together as they fall through the air (Wick 9). In addition, water molecules at the surface of a liquid form stronger bonds (USGS). This is because they have no adjacent molecules on top of them so they exert more powerful forces to molecules on and below the surface of a liquid (USGS). For example, water striders can glide on the surface of water because their mass is not strong enough to break the surface tension (USGS). The dependent variable in this experiment was, which liquid stayed on the penny best. The independent variable was the different chemicals used. Water droplets form spheres because they are pulled by the cohesive forces of the surface layer (USGS). A drop of water in its smallest size is a

Why would it be so easy o tell? Vivaldi had a habit of being more melodic, and focused on shifting rhythms. His main works were concertos, a few choral works, some operas, and a few sonatas. Vivaldi spent his entire life, other than the last six or so years, with his father. As a child, they toured Venice together. Then, later on as a man, he toured Italy and later Europe. Vivaldi and his father were a pair and it seems that they held a good relationship. His father helped to write out some of the pieces that Vivaldi would think of. He preferred a combination of the choral religious music, dramatic operatic, and classics of Italy. His most influential works were written for the orchestra of a Venetian girls orphanage where he was music director. It was for them that he wrote his famous concertos. Vivaldi also invented the concerto grosso. Vivaldi and Bach have a relationship that surpasses their skills. In this, surprisingly, Vivaldi was the teacher, and Bach the student. He added to the blend of French dance genres, ornamentation, and German counterpoint in his inscriptions of Baroque style.

The major source of energy comes from fossil fuels, and the dominant fossil fuels used today by most industrialized and developing countries are oil, coal, and natural gas. As many of you already know, burning fossil fuels emits several air pollutants such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide and the most common pollutant, carbon dioxide. Fuel cells are used in a wide range of portable, stationary and transport applications, such as battery chargers and home heating, but the fuel cell is best known for powering cars. Fuel cells are quite possibly the most versatile energy solution ever invented. The fuel cell seems like the perfect energy source: Quiet, clean and independent of gasoline. In a fuel cell vehicle, the fuel cell transforms hydrogen and oxygen into electricity, and the left over heat and water is all that it emits. Most importantly, the fuel cell is environmentally friendly. Take NASA as an example. During my time in Tennessee, I attended a car show and I saw many Hippie vans and old style classic Volkswagen beetles. We walked the strip in Gatlinburg and I came in close contact with many people who I thought were pretty close to Hippies. The strip had tons of restaurants on each side and stores were filled with so many different people. But mostly everyone was in touch with their hippie side or nature side. Many men had long untamed beards while the women had super long hair and they all seemed to dress free . There was a moonshine tasting store and right in front of it had a stage and three guys (very in touch with the natural look) with long beards and they were playing banjos and guitars. They were very much in touch with their hippie side . There was one certain store that stood out to me because it had so many crazy colors and peace signs everywhere. It also had 420 written everywhere and Bob Marley blankets displayed along with hoodies which I m sure you understand what they were referring to. At the car show, I also observed the people around the cars. Many men like I had seen before in Gatlinburg sported the long straggly beards. Pigeon Forge had a lot of RV campgrounds and tons of gorgeous cabins you can rent out and stay in. Much like I said in my outline, Hippies love to hang out in social events and I m sure there were many more hippie like groups/people in Tennessee I just didn t get the chance to see them. I noticed there was a lot of older women at the car show dressed what you would put in the same category of a hippie. I also associate drinking (not much like the alcohol we have today) with hippies. Almost every of age person was drinking or already drunk. Since marijuana is illegal in Tennesseeso I didn t see anyone out in public smoking marijuana. Hippies are known as the free spirited group and they love to congregate together to create peace instead of violence. During my time in Tennessee I heard a lot of music, it overpowered everything.
