TPPA is expected to abolish import duties on rice from the United States, which is
currently charged at 40%. If the tax is abolished, the price of American rice will be
cheaper than the price of local rice because of high subsidies given to US

Drug Trafficking In Colombia
Drug trafficking is a major issue in Colombia, causing many other issues across the
country. Many people involved in the drug trade including civilians are being killed,
kidnapped, and injured over this problem. Over the years, the government has started
cracking down on the growers, producers, and sellers but so far, they have only
caught minor criminals. The government is making agreements with neighboring
countries and finding alternative uses for the crops to slow down the production of
drugs. Despite all of the efforts being made to stop drugtrafficking, violence, and
production the cartels are still thriving throughout Colombia. Throughout Colombia s
history there has been two very violent groups of people who do not like each other.
This caused the War of Thousand Days and The Violence,

time and were more about the business side of drug trafficking. They would ship

police to get themselves out of trouble. The Cali Cartel had competitions against
the Medellin Cartel, another cartel from Colombia, especially Pablo Escobar, the

Navomi Ipe, otherwise known as Baby Kochamma, is an antagonist in the novel.
Growing up in a traditional family, she developed a strong belief that their

The Accounting Firm Hatchet And Co
A) The accounting firm Hatchet Co ( Hatchet ), could be sued by Giant plc. ( Giant
), as in their audit, the company accounts has been overstated, causing initially a rise
in the shares value but then naturally a drastic fall when Giant was found to be
making losses. The accounting firm is also thought to be liable towards some
shareholders as Gloria and Henry, which lost the money they invested in the
company. Hatchet, being an Accounting firm and thus treated in the low of torts as a
professional entity has a duty of care towards the public limited company Giant under
the United Kingdom company law, and it could be sued for professional negligent
misstatement. Hatched might also be sued by Gloria and Henry which relied on the
accounts for their investments. The profit was accounted to be ВЈ10 million while
Giant was truly making losses, that drove the investments up and the director of
Giant invested $2 millions in a new venture while Henry and Gloria bought
respectively 10 000 and 1 000 shares more. Here, the claimants in order to succeed
have to show: The existence of a duty of care, which was owed to him by the
defendant Then they have to prove the breach of that duty by the defendant At the
end a damage caused by the negligent action, has to be proved by the claimants.
Now I will analyse if those three cases are likely to be happened in this situation. In
relation to the duty of care, it is fundamental to know that it depends on the judges to

is an advance by a financial institution that is not earning income and full payment of
principal. As such interest is no longer anticipated (Van Greuning, Bratavonic, 2003).
There is no global standard to define non performing loans at the practical level.
Variations exist in terms of the classification system, the scope, and contents. This

1984 Social Commentary Essay
In today s world, science has brought upon so many new inventions, hasn t it?
What we once believed to be science fiction now has the possibility to become reality.
The book 1984 by George Orwell is a novel which can be seen from both
perspectives, mainly from a social commentary end. This novel is based on a work of
fictionbut shows governments that keep control and power over their citizens.
Social commentary is used, to provide the vision of where individuals are restricted
even to today where the issues in the book are prevalent. This book is certainly a
social commentary since it deals with increasing world issues such as the forced
propaganda, fabricated war, and the watchful eye of Big Brother
Firstly, propaganda is an effective way to slowly condition people into believing, not
a work of fiction. With enough forced and conditioning people will start to believe
into that idea. Propaganda is consumed daily in 1984, through the Two Minutes Hate,

Verbascum Invasive Species
There are a large number of species that have become, in some way, introduced to
areas outside of their native ranges. Some of these species have large ecological
impacts and can even cause economic problems or harm to people. Other species,
however, are less obviously problematic. Attempting to eradicate even a single
invasive speciesis generally a highly expensive process that can take a very long
period of time. Although one can instead choose to simply suppress a speciesinstead
of entirely eradicating it, even this can take considerable time, money, and energy.
Consequently, only invasive species that clearly cause large problems should be
targeted while those that do not seem to be harmful should be more or less left alone

There may, however, be a slight risk that these plants could carry diseases that do
impact commercial crops, though it is not always clear if it is actually the same strain
(Gross Werner 1978). Again, it does not seem unlikely that, even if there is a certain
risk of disease transmission to other species, that these pathogens would simply find
other hosts. If this is indeed the case, then controlling their spread would mean an
ambitious plan to control the populations of many different plant species, likely
including native ones, and its success or failure would not hinge on the ability to
eliminate Verbascum spp. from the environment. Additionally, mulleinhas no known
negative impacts on human health, so it does not appear to pose any direct problems
for humans (Gross Werner 1978). Of course, invasive species also have the potential
to cause severe environmental problems, and this must reality must be considered
alongside other possible impacts when deciding on a management
The Rhetorical Analysis Of President Ronald Reagan s
Speech
June 12th, 1987 President Ronald Reagan arrives at the Brandenburg Gate in West
Berlin to speak to the citizens and leaders of West Germany. The main goal of this
speech is to gather his audience, the people of West Berlin, to accept the ideas of
western democracy and oppose that of the 25 year old Berlin Wall. As Ronald Reagan
is the President of the United States, he obviously has credibility; therefore, he in turn
uses this in combination with logical and moral appeals to present a convincing
argument to an eager German audience.
In his speech President Ronald Reagan uses the rhetorical appeal of ethos to prove
his validity. Ronald Reagan is not only known as the President of the United
States, but also as an effective communicator and an excellent rhetorician. During
the time of this speech President Reagan is in his second term due to a landslide
win in the 1984 election. His successful first year in office, as well as him being the
leader of the free world proves to give him the integrity and validity to the people of
West Germany. The use of ethos in this speech arises from facts, examples and the
openness to alternate views. Reagan acknowledges the opposing views of other
leaders. Reagan states that In the 1950 s, Kruschev predicted; We will bury you. But
in the West today, we see a free world that has achieved a level of prosperity and well
being unprecedented in all human history In the communist world, we see failure,
technological backwardness, declining
Visual and Cultural Art
For my visual and cultural arts essay I visited the James E Lewis museum at
Morgan State University. For my essay I have selected key pieces of art that I
believe express the African experience in terms of their social, ethnographical and
theological beliefs. This paper will also attempt to draw a comparison to key
themes features in the African Creation myths, which will further elucidate the
meanings hidden in these various works of art. It is my belief that this paper will
not only serve as a guide into the philosophical ideas of the African peoples but will
help to juxtapose these ideas with the often false premise purported by certain groups
of society, which would like to view Africans as primitive and uncultured. My first
piece is the Benin bronze leopard. Situated in the African artsection of the James E
Lewis museum, if stands out not only as a true testament to workmanship but also
as a sort of conveyor of nobility, this nobility which references the monarchy of the
Benin Kingdom. The Benin Kingdom is ruled by a king names the Oba. This
reverence for the Oba can be noted as a special style of ancestor worship, more
specifically ancestor reverence. The idea of the society is that the Oba is divine,
and as such the lives of all those who live under his rule revolve around his divinity.
This divinity is represented by the various bronze plaques. The leopard has been
regarded as a symbol of strength and fortitude for many years in the Benin Kingdom.

Comedy Of Errors Film Analysis
Hopeless and helpless doth Egeon wend. But to procrastinate his lifeless end. The
Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare s earliest and comedic creations, with
inspiration drawn from the Roman comedy Menaechmi. The Royal Shakespeare
Company was founded in 1961 with the goal to entertain and educate audiences on
Shakespeare s works, by putting a modern twist on the performances. Their version of
The Comedyof Errors, co produced with Told by an Idiot, manipulates the actor s
movements, language and dramatic tension as well as the elements of theatrein order
to convey the comedy and irony of the play to a young audience.
The play follows the story of two sets of twins, Antipholus and their servants,

The costumes lacked a time period, making them look very messy and mismatched,
with people wearing leg warmers while others wore bright blue mesh singlets. This
mishmash of clothes created a focus issue as the audience s concentration was turned
towards the costumes rather than the acting and dialogue. It is clear that the creatives
were trying to the engage the younger, upper primary audience with the crazy
costumes, but they failed to do so and created confusion over their impact to the
dramatic meaning.
Director Paul Hunter used many of the stylistic elements often seen in Commedia
Del Arte performances. Similar to commedia performance, The Comedy of Errors
was designed to be a travelling show, going from school to school to share their
creation and educate students. Due to this, the set had to be simple and transportable
and Vale achieves this successfully by using a simple square stage but managing to
maintain many levels with seats behind the raised stage. Other commedia elements,
such as mask work, is also used in the production to some extent, with both Antipoli
wearing glasses that act as masks. The play also uses the idea of Master and
Servants, a noticeable feature of commedia performances. The creatives also used
audience participation to tell the story, by spraying water on them, getting them to
direct actors to hidden

and what exactly he s about. After reading this paper, you will get a better

He tried to stay on a low radar as much as possible like any criminal would. To him
getting caught up with the law would pull time away from his drug trade business.
If he was distracted from his business for any reason, he would be losing money. IF
he was losing money or money was ever slowed down, he wouldn t like it one bit.
We humans nowadays are pushed and motivated by money. In today s society
everything requires money, and if you re not getting money, you can do much in
life and in society. The same goes for Mr. Escobar, even though he had millions, to
even billions of dollars, he wanted more money. So with everything he was doing
from drug trades, to sending hitman to murder people; he would try and stay on a
low radar as much as possible. In the 1990s, Pablo Escobar s system was good the
Colombian government couldn t take him down as easy they thought they could.
The United States kept pushing the Colombian government to extradite Mr.
Escobar, but Mr. Escobar feared that option. That was the only thing Pablo Escobar
was truly scared of in his lifetime to be extradited to the United States. Finally, in
1991 Mr. Escobar s lawyers and Colombian authorities came up with a plan to settle
all the debate. A reliable source from latinamericanhistory.about.com states
Escobar turned himself in and serve a five year jail term. In return he would build
his own prison and would not be extradited to the United State or anywhere else.
(Christopher Minster, 2012). The prison he built was called La Catedral . This
prison wasn t your ordinary prison. This was a paradise palace for Mr. Escobar, but
many think that he isn t in a prison. Pablo Escobar s was equipped with a waterfall,
soccer field, helicopter pad, and much more. In the United States, there are no
prisons that are like Mr. Escobar s. Now that he is in jail you would think Mr.
Escobar gave up on his empire and business, but you thought wrong. Pablo Escobar
Health Benefits Of Support Group Therapy
A support group is a gathering of people who share a common health concern or
interest. (Healthy Lifestyle: Stress Management, 2015) Support groups are created to
help individuals with various mental, medical, and personal histories understand that
they are not alone in what they are going through, creating an environment of open
dialogue and non judgement. Professional group therapy can make people feel
uncomfortable in sharing the floor with others; in a support group, it is a place to
share advice, troubles, and experiences.
Support groups vary depending on the topic. Some are peer created, whether by
someone affected by the topic or someone who is interested in it, and some are
created by organizations like charity groups, mental health groups, or for educational
purposes.

Essay about Critique of the Communist Manifesto
Assignment No. 3: Critique of the Communist Manifesto
Karl Marx and Freidrich Engels Communist Manifesto is one of the world s most
influential pieces of political literature. The manifesto was created for the purpose
of outlining the aims and goals of the The Communist League . The Communist
League was made up of radical proletariats who were fed up with the bourgeoisie
social order and sought to overthrow them. The manifesto is known to have been
written by Marx and assisted and edited by Engel therefore the many ideas and
theories expressed by this work are known as Marxism. Marxism has many poignant
views on changing society and its class structure, and what needs to be done to

The manifesto continues with Marx s belief that capitalism is very unsteady and that
this class struggle between the bourgeoisie and proletariat is inevitable under this
system. But Marx explains that the only means for communism to spread in a society
ruled by capitalism and class distinctions is by revolution. A problem with
Marxism is that this whole concept reflects on creating an imaginary future which
is filled with all the answers to the problems of the workers in modern society. The
only way people will be able to reach this future is by forfeiting all their personal
hopes and dreams for the sake of the proletariat class. Marx undermines the fact
that all people do not share the same desires, and that his idea of upheaval of the
bourgeoisie might not entice the public as a whole. Especially since Marxism
revolutions will meet a violent event in time, where the bourgeoisie and proletariat
will clash. This conflict is not the most convincing means for change (for
individuals who seek a peaceful way of living). As well Marx never gives a good
description for how the proletariat should govern the state once they take power. John
Locke proposes in the Second Treatise on Government that The earth, and all that is
therein, is given to men for the support and comfort of their being. Which raises the
question how could someone differentiate common property
The Content Of Online Media
Introduction
The ideology of community is a multidimensional virtual web of personal
connections, transcending time to evolve ideas involving community formation and
participation (Baym, 2010,Miller, 2011.)
Networking sites have provided audiences the tools with which to construct their
own communication methods, as well as the platform to become active participants
in the consumption of mass media. The structure of online media allows a
multitude of lifestyle blogs, social media sites and fan sites for example a variety of
dispersed media, all of which can be instantaneously accessed at any time of the day.

The main objective of this paper is to carry out a regression analysis of consumer
related data for a specific product. The product selected for analysis was sport utility
vehicle (SUVs) sales in the United States. The United States Department of
Transportation website was the source of the data used for the paper. It contained
sales, market share, price, and fuel consumption information. Using this relevant
consumer information, a linear regression model was developed that investigated the
relationship between SUV sales, price, market share and fuel consumption. In this
case, SUV sales is the dependent variable and refers to the number of SUVs sold
within the United States per year. On the other hand, the market share (refers to the

Description of Dataset
As mentioned earlier, the data used for this paper was sourced from The United
States Department of Transportation website. In order to locate the dataset a
Google search was conducted with search terms that include SUV sales data annual
sales. Google returned a number of website sources, which were examined and
sorted. From the list of searches, the best and most credible source was The United
States Department of Transportation website. Using the search feature available on
the website an additional search was carried out using similar search terms. The data
titled Table 1 21: Period Sales, Market Shares, and Sales Weighted Fuel Economies of
New Domestic and Imported Light Trucks (Thousands of vehicles) was downloaded
and it contained sales, market share and fuel consumption information for a number
of light trucks (Bureau of Transportation Statistics, 2016).
Using Excel, the original dataset was filtered in order to remove the small, medium,
and large size pickup data and only leave data on SUVs. The main reason for this is
that the study was interested in studying price, market share and consumption as
factors that affect sales of SUVs in America. The dataset contains annual data from
1990 to 2012. It also contains data from 1980 and 1985 (Bureau of Transportation
Statistics, 2016). This in total consisted of 25 observations for each dataset.
The Interpretation Of Beauty Through Media
Tylerr Heron
Prof. Barr
27 October 2014 The Interpretation of Beauty through Media
Female teenagers often get caught up in the word beauty, piling their faces with
lipstick and foundation, attempting to squeeze into clothes that are too small for their
bodies, while wearing pounds of jewelry that will later turn their skin green. The
reason being is, this is the image the media displays. According to Beth Bell and
Dittmar, the media sets unrealistic expectations of beauty using female insecurities,
simply for accumulation (2). The media has an effect on today s teens because teens
get caught up in what the media portrays to them, bringing about eating disorders, as
well as leading them into changing their appearance to fit in with what the media feel
is beautiful. Teens then lose thought of how they truly feel deep within which results
in lowering their self esteem.
Smeesters et al. states, that a female s body image plays a major part in
relationship to her self esteem (930). In another articles Polce Lynch et al. says,
self esteem also acts as an essential role in mental health (225). Media sends many
messages to teens making them feel the need to change their body appearance,
causing a wide spread of low self esteem. They drive girls to aim for the perfect body
by using unhealthy tactics (Bell, Beth, and Dittmar 2). Research shows because of
airbrushing, lighting effects, and different make up approaches within mass media can
lead to unhappiness with appearance and
Reasons To Be A Nun In The Middle Ages
In the Middle Ages, a woman might have several reasons to be a nun. Some of them,
for example, wanted to dedicate themselves to the God; or their families couldn t
afford a daughter and sent them to the convent; or they were not attractive enough to
appeal a man and got marriage so they went to the convent. Although we don t know
the reason the prioress becoming the nun, she mustn t have gone to the convent
because of believing in god for she lacked a true religious calling. Besides, as for
her background, there are many suggestions she was from a noble family. Last but
not the least, the brooch the prioress wore had some words: Amor vincit omnia which
means love conquers all. Nevertheless, her amor wasn t to the god but to other... Show

It represented a part of the rotten religious world.
The prioress s French indicates her education. She spoke French good and elegantly,
but she had never been to France. It seems that she was taught French in England.
Without living in France, she must have been given a good environment or a fine
teacher to learn French while the convent didn t have so enough resource. Therefore,
she learned it at other place the family she belonged that could afford to give a
daughter a well education. However, having so well environment but not going to
France to learn more, the prioress shows her superficiality of limited learning.
The love of the prioress is an irony. Her love described in the prologue was not to
the God but to the little animals. She did many things with her charity and love
that others believed she love animals by heart. Nevertheless, no matter she loved
animals by heart or not, her major intention was to be a woman of empathy in
other s eyes. The reason is like why she did good table manner she wanted to earn
other s esteem. In addition, she showed her compassion to mice was another irony.
The God was the highest status respected by followers, but the prioress pitied on a
mouse which was at very low status hated by people. In addition, England just went
through the most dreadful period, Black Death mice were the symbol of death at that
time. It seems that she didn t know this misfortune in the world but pretended having

A Clash Of King Martin Analysis
All fiction has to have a certain amount of truth in it to be powerful. This is a quote
from leading fantasy writer and bestselling author, George R.R. Martin. In his
novel, A Clash of Kings, Martin depicts a dark and grimy setting in which war is a
constant theme, a setting very much similar to that of Lord of the Rings and
Beowulf. A Clash of Kings is only the second of thirteen novels in Martin s book
series, A Song of Ice and Fire. The first novel in the book series, A Game of Thrones,
undoubtedly left readers with many unanswered questions. It concluded with the
death of preeminent characters, King Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark. After King
Robert Baratheon s unexpected death, rulers from different Houses across the
Seven Kingdoms claimed to deserve the vacant position on his throne, which was
referred to as the Iron Throne. In the midst of a consistent struggle to obtain power,
Martin concentrates on four royal families: House Baratheon, House Stark, House
Lannister, and House Targaryen. Each House has at least one member of their
family that believes they are the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. The battles fought
to decide the new ruler of the Seven Kingdoms was often referred to in the book as
the War of the Five Kings. In his novel, A Clash of Kings, George R.R. Martin
strategically presents the story behind the War of the Five Kings from viewpoints of
nine of his characters, while keeping the readers entertained with persistent wars
being fought on and off the
Fft s Attitude On A Health Promotion Approach
The Five Factor Theory (FFT) states that all differences in the personality of an
individual can be summed into five factors (McCrae Costa, 2008). They are,
Agreeableness (A), Openness (O), Neuroticism (N), Conscientiousness (C), and
Extraversion (E). According to the FFT, Neuroticism is related to negative attitudes,
Openness with willingness to try new things, Conscientiousness with technical facts,
Agreeableness with collaboration and Extraversion with an outgoing behavior. The
goal of the proposed project will be to check the anticipation of the FFT on attitudes
on a health promotion approach.
Health promotion is any attempt proposed to increase an individual s control over
their health (Johnson, 2011). Typically when approached with health promotion,
people perceive it to be health advertising (Pennay, 2007). The proposed project will

Extraversion is in essence the trait, which comprises all the optimistic social
personality traits (Johnson, 2011). Conscientious individuals are highly organized.
They are looked upon as highly dedicated workers, which most of the time leads to
complete avoidance of pleasure activities (Johnson, 2011).
It is anticipated that in this proposed project, the Extraversion factor will produce
results in the negative direction and the Conscientiousness factor will produce results

Value Creation in Customer Contentment
Customer contentment encourage the emerging innovative company nowadays
(CSSP 2007) and lead to tough competition in offering value through service concept
(Lusch et al. 2007). Many firms race in rectify their pathway to services, intensify the
quality, and applying new strategies on their organization (CSPP 2007). Those

which accentuate the customer expectation and involved them during the process
(Cova and Salle 2008). Therefore the way of thinking as a customer strongly needed
and developed in service business as current symptom (Cova and Salle 2008).
According to Grӧnroos (2008), the use of customer on contributing value should
considered as a part of service process.
The way of creating unique value on service business (Grӧnroos 2011) determine
that the perspective of service marketing were transformed from goods to service

it with all stakeholders including suppliers and employee to increase the level of
customer engagement (Vargo et al. 2008b). The service dominant logic stated the
customer co creating with the companies on process of value framing (Grӧnroos

The Works Of The Opera Billy Budd, The Handsome Sailor
There are two possible fates we each face in life. We either forget our mistakes or
carry them on our shoulders forever. This burden has evolved into a common theme
for operas, novels and other pieces of literature. For instance, Benjamin Britten uses
this motif as a threshold for his opera Billy Budd. He explores the hunting troubles
of captain Edward Fairfax Vere by setting up a narration on retrospect of the hanging
of Billy Budd, the handsome sailor . Inspired by Herman Melvilles novel, the opera
became well known. In effect, in 1997 John Dexter directed one of the
performances in the Metropolitan Opera. The story begins with captain Vere as an
old man who narrates in retrospect the story of Billy Budd on his ship the
Indomitable. Billy, the handsome sailor, kills the master at arms, Claggart, and is,
therefore, condemned to death by law. Vere decides not to influence Billy s verdict
and simply hears out what the other three highly ranked sailors have to say. Despite
the captain being against the ruling, Billy has to be hanged in order to follow the
laws and avoid mutiny from the ship s crew. The narration proceeds with Billy s
waiting for his hanging and the execution itself. By the end of the account, Vere
asserts that he has accepted Billy s death. It can be easy to believe this assumption,
but nothing could be further from the truth. Captain Vere has not come to terms with
this episode of his life, neither should he.
Vere is still plagued by this chapter of his

Elizabeth Barrett-Browning and Virginia Woolf Essay
Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Virginia Woolf
I chose to compare and contrast two women authors from different literary time
periods. Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806 1861) as a representative of the
Victorian age (1832 1901) and Virginia Woolf (1882 1941) as the spokeswoman for
the Modernist (1914 1939) mindset. Being women in historical time periods that did
not embrace the talents and gifts of women; they share many of the same issues and
themes throughout their works however, it is the age in which they wrote that
shaped their expressions of these themes. Although they lived only decades apart
their worlds were remarkably different their voices were muted or amplified

Threats to the Integrity of South Africa s Democracy Essay
Through a fair electoral system, the South African government has elected and been
led by the African National Congress (ANC) over the past twenty years. Yet, with the
limitations on rights, they have not been able to identify with all of the main
circumstances that make up a democratic government. A democratic political system
must meet three essential conditions: meaningful and extensive competition among
individuals and organized groups (especially political parties) for the major
positions of government; a highly inclusive level of political participation in the
selection of leaders and policies, at least through regular and fair elections,...and a
level of civil and political liberties freedom of expression, freedom of press,... Show

[However], first, even if, say, one has freedom of power across three of the four
dimensions of freedom discussed, one s lack of power in only one is sufficient to
make one unfree (Hamilton, 2011, p. 356). Hamilton s words echo Mandela s
stating that by one s lack of freedom makes the other unfree as well. This presents a
problem for South Africa as they continue to move forward with democracy.
Allowing the ANC to pass bills such as the Protection of State Information bill
permits them to impede on freedoms and control more than is necessary. It also lets
them cover up any wrongdoings that may be done by the party. This, the Protection

The Armenian Genocide Summary
Eugene Rogan s View on the The Armenian Genocide
The Armenian genocide is unfortunately regularly overlooked because of the
Holocaust. This is due to the amount killed and the extreme amount of structure in
the mass killing somehow gives it a lot more notoriety in western textbooks. There is
also the fact that maybe it is underlooked because it s a less western/ eurocentric
impact on history and the countries that were involved. Eugene Rogan in his book
The Fall of the Ottomans writes an in depth chapter about the armenian genocide and
its origins. It paints the picture that first the Ottomans were not ready for a world
war of that scale. This is due to the fact that the empire is way to spread out and its
people way to differentiated in ethnicity, religion, and allegiances. These differences
led to animosity between the Majority muslim and the minority catholic groups,
accusing them to be not loyal to the empire which gave them the public support and
the reason to kill and push the minority Armenians out of Turkey. I will be talking
about in detail about the Chapter relating to the armenian Genocide; its origins and its
importance to the fall of the ottoman empire.
The Armenian community was made up of three religious denominations: Armenian
Catholic, Armenian Protestant, and Armenian Apostolic, the Church of the vast
majority of Armenians. Under the millet system, the Armenian community was

Leadership Reflection For Senior Leadership
According to the Introduction to Strategic Studies Course Directive, This year
presents an opportunity to walk in the shoes of senior leaders making difficult and
complex decisions before you begin wearing them upon graduation. From the above
sentence I can conclude that, this paper could be the beginning of my journey to
wear the higher level leaders shoes. As I am now starting preparation for a future
senior leadershipassignment, I have to equip myself with the required knowledge and
skills in order to act as senior military leader.
Therefore, Thomas Galvin outlines four mission specific roles and senior military
leaders should also take lessons from history, like from The Gulf War, 1990 1991, .
The four roles are, a strategic advisor and communicator, a strategic planner, a
strategic theorist, and senior leader at the strategic level. So that this paper will focus
mainly on my reflection towards to the first two mission specific roles.
Therefore, my choice from the roles are the strategic advisor and communicator,
and the strategic planner because working to exercise these roles would have more
benefit to jump for the rest two roles. From the case study, I have selected General
Collin Powel and General H. Norman Schwarzkopf roles from the case study. In
order to link and reflect my future area that should be strengthen. Their roles and
experiences are good examples that are helpful as I prepare myself and work
enthusiastically in order to strengthen my senior
The Species Of Endangered Species
Did you know that the endangerment or eventual extinction of a species causes the
endangerment and extinction of other life forms, eventually leading to a negative
impact on human well being? Currently, the endangered species list includes 16,306
species that are endangered and at risk of extinction, and 785 species have already
gone extinct (Kasnoff). On the list of endangered species is the adorable sea otter. Sea
otters are not only cute, but they play an extremely important role in the ecological
preservation of Pacific kelp forests.
Sea otters contribute towards the overall health and well being of the ecosystem they
inhabit. Because the sea otter is an important predator in the nearshore marine
ecosystem of the North Pacific Ocean, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, the inhalation of the oil by the sea otter results in illness and a weakened
immune system (Recarte 10). The population decline of the sea otter serves as
evidence of the poor state of the eco system in which they live. In her detailing of
The California Recovery Plan, Recart emphasizes the sea otter s important role as a
keystone and sentinel (bioindicator) species in their ecosystem, and goes on to state
that they are the keepers of the kelp forest (10).
Along with its keystone and sentinel role in its eco system, sea otters have important
interactions with abiotic and biotic factors. Sea otters have an effect on the abiotic
factors of their ecosystem, which include the ocean waves and currents as well as the
levels of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the air. They affect those abiotic factors
through the controlling of sea urchin populations who, without the sea otter, would
decimate the kelp forests that in turn serve as a barrier to ocean currents and waves,
providing protection for other marine animals from those elements (Laustsen). The
sea otters consumption of urchins also ensures that kelp forest growth prevents soil
erosion and that its photosynthesis reduces the amount of carbon dioxide and
increases the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere (Nielsen). Without the sea otters
protective role of the kelp forest, abiotic factors would go out of balance affecting
and harming the biotic factors of this ecosystem.

Creating A Safe Environment For Lgbtq Youth In Schools.
Creating a Safe Environment for LGBTQ Youth in Schools Introduction Over
decades, research has been devoted to many issues related to lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth (Dragowski, McCabe, Rubinson,
2016, p 127). This essay presents a literature review examining research conducted
on different aspects of the LGBTQ youth. The review was conducted using key
terms of LGBTQ youth , bullying, and school safety. Findings presented in the
study cross the topics of how KGBTQ youth struggle, how they become victims
because of their sexual preferences, the incidence of LGBTQ victimization in
schools, and what schools can do be more aware of and address the related issues.

Impact on LGBTQ Youth In Human Rights Campaign survey of over ten thousand
LGBT youth from age thirteen to seventeen was found that don t want to say
anything because they think they are not going to be accepted besides the lack of
acceptance of LGBTQ youth prevents many from coming out. Data from Wilcox
(2016) showed family did not accept 30% of youth who came out and 19% were
scared of the reaction; but many youth did not come out: 16% had religious
reasons, 10% were not ready, and 10% can t talk to their family. At school 31%
were treated differently or were judged, 26% didn t have the need of coming out,
and 7% youth couldn t because their school was conservative (Wilcox 2016 p. 46).
In a study from Sussex, UK found similarities of the experiences of feelings of
confusion of being accepted (Sheriff, Hamilton, Wigmore Giambrone, 2011).
Violence, bullying and verbal harassment of LGBTQ also has consequences for
youth in their school attendance and academic performance, and are more likely to
drop out of school, use drugs, etc. Dealing with bullying and harassment often leads
to depression as well. Youth who suffer depression can blame themselves for their
preferences, and they don t report the situation because they are afraid that they will
make harassment worse or feel that is not safe to do so. This leads to self harm, drug

Cognitive Bias In Performance Evaluation
Managers are charged with making judgments about their employee s performance
and capabilities. Employees should have a formal evaluation process and should
receive regular informal updates from their managers on the job. Performance
Evaluations should include basic information regarding the employee, job objectives,
job competencies, employee contributions and developmental goals and needs. A
performance evaluation should also include an opportunity for managementto focus
on positive contributions the employee has made, areas that need development, and
space for the employee to respond to the appraisal. Setting performance expectations,
gathering outcomes from the year and comparing them will help determine whether
they are satisfied or whether new initiatives are taken (Andersen, 2016). The... Show

Identifying anger management issues in a formal yearly review did not give Robert
the opportunity to receive feedback and adjust his behavior in preparation for this

help to align the employees work with the goals and objectives of the company,
which could yield more success for the company.

The Pantheon in Rome and the Candi Prambanan in
Indonesia
Around the world people have been known to dedicate themselves and their
families to a certain type of religion or God. Practicing religion has been a major part
of peoples daily rituals for centuries. Believing in a higher power than ones own
takes full dedication to that certain religion or God(s). In order to give respect and
be able to apply action into these beliefs it has became a tradition around the world
to build a place of worship. These places of worship are referred to differently across
the world depending on location and the religion being practiced. More specifically
the Templeis a building that is devoted for worshiping but also is known to house a
multitude of religions depending on its location. For example, the Romans have been
known to house their Gods in Temples usually with a multitude of columns to incase
a statue of a God or Gods. Similarly, the people of Indonesia have been building
decorative Candi (Indonesian word for Temple) to praise and worship their Gods.4
For instance, the Romans constructed The Pantheon, dedicated to the Gods of
Ancient Romecompared to Candi Prambanan built by the Indonesians in order to
worship the concept of Trimurti. 3 The link between these two cultures can be seen
in the way that both Romans and Indonesians worship their Gods in Temples with
the use of separate sacred rooms and what these Temples represent for their culture,
but are able to be separated by their choice of architectural form, style and use of
Effect Of Psychoanalysis Of Hamlet s Delay On Venge
The Psychoanalysis of Hamlet s Delay on Vengeance Psychoanalysis is a theory
created by Austrian physician, Sigmund Freud, to explain psychological and
psychotherapeutic motivations and associated techniques. Two articles that discuss
this topic in relation to the character of Hamlet are Ernest Jones s The Oedipus

Remembering, repeating, and working through describes how once those members
of the deceased have wept, they reminisce about the times that person was alive.
Furthermore, they know it will not be the last time they will grieve, as another
member will meet fate soon enough. This process will continue and hopefully they
will move on with life after such events when they are ready ( 59). The object of
mourning and melancholia is unconsciously engraved within the psyche, which is the
soul or persona of a person or a group. Ergo, the mourning that Hamlet experiences
fraudulently assumes features of [the lost] object and forces itself upon the id (the
instinct or the animalistic side of a mind), as it is lost or regained (Ibid,). Gana states
that what is noteworthy here is that in melancholia, remembering the lost object of
love emerges into the form of regression of the ego, (the organized and realistic side
of the mind) into a now cannibalistic phase. This outbreak of melancholia is the
product of a compulsion to repeat a child like
J Coles Be Free Essay
For this critical reflection of a protest song I have chosen J Coles Be Free . Through
his music and lyrics, J Cole is constantly pushing a political agenda, questioning
society and its norms as well as putting a focus on current and past events. There are
multiple reasons why I chose this song and genre. Since the Watts riotsin California
there has not been a large scale African Americanrights protest. Blues started off the
musical African American protest wave and it seemed to end with the death of
Tupac. Since the early 2000 s African American music has strayed away from
protest and evolved into story telling related to events in the life of the artist and
the current trend in rap seems to be about fashion. It is safe to say protest music
from the African American perspective had died. So it is amazing to see artist like
J Cole still giving voice to the average person and questioning those who control us.
The new wave of protest music has resulted from the recent police African American
interactions that have resulted in many black teenagers dead. These events have
caused riots in Missouri, Baltimore and Florida. J Coles be Free is a protest song
about the mistreatment of black peopleand the recent tragedy involving Michael
Brown.
The Watts Riot in 1965 was a six day massive riot, which was both the largest and
costliest urban rebellion of the Civil Rights era (BBC). Over the course of the six day
riot, over 14,000 California National Guard troops were
Raphaels Bible Vs. Michelangelo s Sistine Chapel
Raphael s Bible compared to Michelangelo s Sistine Chapel
Arguing that Raphael s Bible was meant to physically and theoretically fill a spare
gap in the Vatican s representation of the bible requires deepening our appreciation of
the Sistine Chapel. Indeed, one could think that there is no big difference between
these two masterpieces since Michelangelo also depicts the Old Testament:
nevertheless, it is by looking at the choice of scenes and stories represented in both
stories that the differences emerge. In Raphael s Bible, the artist voluntary chose to
avoid the violent and degrading scenes of the Old Testament: the drunkenness of
Noah (see fig. 10) the mockery of his own son, his daughters sleeping with him, that

European Expansion And Colonization
The motives for the Europeans for expansion and colonization in the new word was a
new way of life and exploration. The search for new things and ocean travel was
intriguing to the Europeans. Though the conditions in Europe were changing the
Europeans thought that they could find better things overseas. The Europeans
expanded their capabilities for growth and colonization. The biggest resistance of the
Europeans was the Indians. The Indians did not like the thought of foreigners taking
over their land and crops. The Indians often battled with the Europeans killing them
before they could take over. Maryland was used as a retreat for English Catholics.
The Indians in Maryland were more worried about the other tribes that surrounded the

Ethics and Moral Reasoning
Instructor Zummuna Davis
January 14, 2013
Singer s Famine, Affluence, and Morality In the Peter Singer s article Famine,
Affluence, and Morality , he discusses the way that people should take moral in their
help toward the support of the Bengal famine crisis. Singer states three obligations
that would help the Bengal region through the means of a wealthy person, and those
individuals living life on a day to day basis. In this paper I will expound on Singer s
goal for each obligation, explain the three counter arguments with Singer s response,
define and identify marginal utility as it relates to Singer s arguments, and compare
the ideas of duty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That persons with very low incomes may merit our sympathy is accepted, but
sympathy leads to charity, rather than to the involuntary exploitation of the better off
(Narveson, 2004). Singer also says that people with a maintainable amount of wealth
should give more than the X amount asked for, being that the predicament that some
are not able to give or they can give less than the amount asked for. Another, more
serious reason for not giving to famine relief funds is that until there is effective
population control, relieving famine merely postpone starvation (Singer, 1972). The
final and third counter argument is that Singer question exactly how much we
should be giving away. In this counter argument, Singer talks of giving until one
reaches marginal utility; or in the case where suffering would have greatly
increased or decreased in his self, if he gave more than one can afford to give. One
should avoid bad things from happening or sacrificing too much to help those in
need. Giving until you reach your marginal utility is only required. Singer believes
we are obliged to give money away until our sacrifice is of comparable moral
importance to the agony of people starving to death (Specter, 1999). This is our duty
to do so. An example
Alejandra s Reputations In Pretty Horses
Alejandra is not to be pursued romantically as she is subject to such reputation
modification. This then informs Grady that his relationship between Alejandra is
forbidden (in a sense) among Alfonsa (and later Don Hector), but simply ignores
Alfonsa s command to halt the relationship (and Grady continues pursing Alejandra),
being consequential and a resultant for Grady and Rawlins being sent into a Mexican
prison. Lastly, a poststructuralist cultural criticism may arguably have also informed
Grady throughout the novelin a series of multiple events, having a discovery of
moral, political, and psychological factors within Mexico. One factor regarding moral
factors includes the kidnapping of the Mexican captain (that executed Blevins) as,

The novel symbolizes blood and the color red as a dramatic change within the
story. For example, after Rawlins had been stabbed, Grady had consequently been
stabbed as well, which led to them leaving the Mexican prison (by Alfonsa) and
ultimately separating from each other. Another example located on page 302
describes the desert sky and the red wind right before Grady leaves for Texas, a
drastic turn of events within the novel. Moreover, right before meeting Alejandra
and changing his journey forever, Grady ate a red fruit, of which stained his
fingers, which concluded a dramatic change was about to occur. For symbolic
scars, on page 135, as Alfonsa mentions her scars during the war, it symbolizes that
the past is real and should not be forgotten. Another example is located on page
293, where Grady retells the memory scar of Blevins being executed to the judge
and how Grady did not resist against it, symbolizing a moment of regret. Lastly,
when Grady was involved in the trial against rightful ownership of the three horses,
he had shown the judge his scars from Mexico, establishing credibility amongst the
judge as scars do not lie. Therefore, scars are the wisdom of the past, whether it is
positive or negative, having each tell a story of itself and an experience/lesson that

Why Healthcare Should Be Free
Why healthcare should be free. Every day we see people seek, we watch the news

someone staying all month in bed because he could not pay the hospital. There is a
lot of people dead just because of not having free healthcare they want to be

have a lot of people who are not insured, we have high prices for medicines, and
also our people deserve free healthcare because they pay taxes for everything. First
of all, if we see some of the facts, 44 million of people have no insurance according

Another practice that the Justice Department accused Microsoft of was that
Microsoft would specify a minimum number of operating systems that the retailer
had to

system installed until the retailer had installed all of the Microsoft operating systems
that
it had installed.
In addition to specifying a minimum number of operating systems that a vendor
had to buy, Microsoft also would sing contracts with the vendors for long periods of

such as two or three years. In order for a new operating system to gain popularity, it
would have to do so quickly, in order to show potential buyers that it was worth

Probably the second most controversial issue, besides the per processor

leverage in another market. In the preceding example, Microsoft would use their

  • 10. The Accounting Firm Hatchet And Co A) The accounting firm Hatchet Co ( Hatchet ), could be sued by Giant plc. ( Giant ), as in their audit, the company accounts has been overstated, causing initially a rise in the shares value but then naturally a drastic fall when Giant was found to be making losses. The accounting firm is also thought to be liable towards some shareholders as Gloria and Henry, which lost the money they invested in the company. Hatchet, being an Accounting firm and thus treated in the low of torts as a professional entity has a duty of care towards the public limited company Giant under the United Kingdom company law, and it could be sued for professional negligent misstatement. Hatched might also be sued by Gloria and Henry which relied on the accounts for their investments. The profit was accounted to be ВЈ10 million while Giant was truly making losses, that drove the investments up and the director of Giant invested $2 millions in a new venture while Henry and Gloria bought respectively 10 000 and 1 000 shares more. Here, the claimants in order to succeed have to show: The existence of a duty of care, which was owed to him by the defendant Then they have to prove the breach of that duty by the defendant At the end a damage caused by the negligent action, has to be proved by the claimants. • 12. 1984 Social Commentary Essay In today s world, science has brought upon so many new inventions, hasn t it? What we once believed to be science fiction now has the possibility to become reality. The book 1984 by George Orwell is a novel which can be seen from both perspectives, mainly from a social commentary end. This novel is based on a work of fictionbut shows governments that keep control and power over their citizens. Social commentary is used, to provide the vision of where individuals are restricted even to today where the issues in the book are prevalent. This book is certainly a social commentary since it deals with increasing world issues such as the forced propaganda, fabricated war, and the watchful eye of Big Brother Firstly, propaganda is an effective way to slowly condition people into believing, not a work of fiction. With enough forced and conditioning people will start to believe into that idea. Propaganda is consumed daily in 1984, through the Two Minutes Hate, video. Some of these species have large ecological impacts and can even cause economic problems or harm to people. Other species, however, are less obviously problematic. Attempting to eradicate even a single invasive speciesis generally a highly expensive process that can take a very long period of time. Although one can instead choose to simply suppress a speciesinstead of entirely eradicating it, even this can take considerable time, money, and energy. If this is indeed the case, then controlling their spread would mean an ambitious plan to control the populations of many different plant species, likely including native ones, and its success or failure would not hinge on the ability to eliminate Verbascum spp. from the environment. • 14. The Rhetorical Analysis Of President Ronald Reagan s Speech June 12th, 1987 President Ronald Reagan arrives at the Brandenburg Gate in West Berlin to speak to the citizens and leaders of West Germany. The main goal of this speech is to gather his audience, the people of West Berlin, to accept the ideas of western democracy and oppose that of the 25 year old Berlin Wall. As Ronald Reagan is the President of the United States, he obviously has credibility; therefore, he in turn uses this in combination with logical and moral appeals to present a convincing argument to an eager German audience. In his speech President Ronald Reagan uses the rhetorical appeal of ethos to prove his validity. Ronald Reagan is not only known as the President of the United States, but also as an effective communicator and an excellent rhetorician. During the time of this speech President Reagan is in his second term due to a landslide win in the 1984 election. His successful first year in office, as well as him being the leader of the free world proves to give him the integrity and validity to the people of West Germany. The use of ethos in this speech arises from facts, examples and the openness to alternate views. Reagan acknowledges the opposing views of other leaders. Reagan states that In the 1950 s, Kruschev predicted; We will bury you. But in the West today, we see a free world that has achieved a level of prosperity and well being unprecedented in all human history In the communist world, we see failure, technological backwardness, declining

For my essay I have selected key pieces of art that I believe express the African experience in terms of their social, ethnographical and theological beliefs. This paper will also attempt to draw a comparison to key themes features in the African Creation myths, which will further elucidate the meanings hidden in these various works of art. It is my belief that this paper will not only serve as a guide into the philosophical ideas of the African peoples but will help to juxtapose these ideas with the often false premise purported by certain groups of society, which would like to view Africans as primitive and uncultured. My first piece is the Benin bronze leopard. Situated in the African artsection of the James E Lewis museum, if stands out not only as a true testament to workmanship but also as a sort of conveyor of nobility, this nobility which references the monarchy of the Benin Kingdom. The Benin Kingdom is ruled by a king names the Oba. This reverence for the Oba can be noted as a special style of ancestor worship, more specifically ancestor reverence. The idea of the society is that the Oba is divine, and as such the lives of all those who live under his rule revolve around his divinity. This divinity is represented by the various bronze plaques. The leopard has been regarded as a symbol of strength and fortitude for many years in the Benin Kingdom. This bronze cast

The Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare s earliest and comedic creations, with inspiration drawn from the Roman comedy Menaechmi. The Royal Shakespeare Company was founded in 1961 with the goal to entertain and educate audiences on Shakespeare s works, by putting a modern twist on the performances. Their version of The Comedyof Errors, co produced with Told by an Idiot, manipulates the actor s movements, language and dramatic tension as well as the elements of theatrein order to convey the comedy and irony of the play to a young audience. The costumes lacked a time period, making them look very messy and mismatched, with people wearing leg warmers while others wore bright blue mesh singlets. This mishmash of clothes created a focus issue as the audience s concentration was turned towards the costumes rather than the acting and dialogue. It is clear that the creatives were trying to the engage the younger, upper primary audience with the crazy costumes, but they failed to do so and created confusion over their impact to the dramatic meaning. Director Paul Hunter used many of the stylistic elements often seen in Commedia Del Arte performances. Similar to commedia performance, The Comedy of Errors was designed to be a travelling show, going from school to school to share their creation and educate students. Due to this, the set had to be simple and transportable and Vale achieves this successfully by using a simple square stage but managing to maintain many levels with seats behind the raised stage. Other commedia elements, such as mask work, is also used in the production to some extent, with both Antipoli wearing glasses that act as masks. The play also uses the idea of Master and Servants, a noticeable feature of commedia performances. The creatives also used audience participation to tell the story, by spraying water on them, getting them to direct actors to hidden

In the 1990s, Pablo Escobar s system was good the Colombian government couldn t take him down as easy they thought they could. The United States kept pushing the Colombian government to extradite Mr. Escobar, but Mr. Escobar feared that option. That was the only thing Pablo Escobar was truly scared of in his lifetime to be extradited to the United States. Finally, in 1991 Mr. Escobar s lawyers and Colombian authorities came up with a plan to settle all the debate. A reliable source from latinamericanhistory.about.com states Escobar turned himself in and serve a five year jail term. In return he would build his own prison and would not be extradited to the United State or anywhere else. (Christopher Minster, 2012). The prison he built was called La Catedral . This prison wasn t your ordinary prison. This was a paradise palace for Mr. Escobar, but many think that he isn t in a prison. The manifesto continues with Marx s belief that capitalism is very unsteady and that this class struggle between the bourgeoisie and proletariat is inevitable under this system. But Marx explains that the only means for communism to spread in a society ruled by capitalism and class distinctions is by revolution. A problem with Marxism is that this whole concept reflects on creating an imaginary future which is filled with all the answers to the problems of the workers in modern society. The only way people will be able to reach this future is by forfeiting all their personal hopes and dreams for the sake of the proletariat class. Marx undermines the fact that all people do not share the same desires, and that his idea of upheaval of the bourgeoisie might not entice the public as a whole. Especially since Marxism revolutions will meet a violent event in time, where the bourgeoisie and proletariat will clash. This conflict is not the most convincing means for change (for individuals who seek a peaceful way of living). As well Marx never gives a good description for how the proletariat should govern the state once they take power. John Locke proposes in the Second Treatise on Government that The earth, and all that is therein, is given to men for the support and comfort of their being. The Interpretation Of Beauty Through Media Tylerr Heron Prof. Barr 27 October 2014 The Interpretation of Beauty through Media Female teenagers often get caught up in the word beauty, piling their faces with lipstick and foundation, attempting to squeeze into clothes that are too small for their bodies, while wearing pounds of jewelry that will later turn their skin green. The reason being is, this is the image the media displays. According to Beth Bell and Dittmar, the media sets unrealistic expectations of beauty using female insecurities, simply for accumulation (2). The media has an effect on today s teens because teens get caught up in what the media portrays to them, bringing about eating disorders, as well as leading them into changing their appearance to fit in with what the media feel is beautiful. Teens then lose thought of how they truly feel deep within which results in lowering their self esteem. Smeesters et al. states, that a female s body image plays a major part in relationship to her self esteem (930). In another articles Polce Lynch et al. says, self esteem also acts as an essential role in mental health (225). Media sends many messages to teens making them feel the need to change their body appearance, causing a wide spread of low self esteem. They drive girls to aim for the perfect body by using unhealthy tactics (Bell, Beth, and Dittmar 2). Research shows because of airbrushing, lighting effects, and different make up approaches within mass media can lead to unhappiness with appearance and

In his novel, A Clash of Kings, Martin depicts a dark and grimy setting in which war is a constant theme, a setting very much similar to that of Lord of the Rings and Beowulf. A Clash of Kings is only the second of thirteen novels in Martin s book series, A Song of Ice and Fire. The first novel in the book series, A Game of Thrones, undoubtedly left readers with many unanswered questions. It concluded with the death of preeminent characters, King Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark. After King Robert Baratheon s unexpected death, rulers from different Houses across the Seven Kingdoms claimed to deserve the vacant position on his throne, which was referred to as the Iron Throne. In the midst of a consistent struggle to obtain power, Martin concentrates on four royal families: House Baratheon, House Stark, House Lannister, and House Targaryen. Each House has at least one member of their family that believes they are the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. The battles fought to decide the new ruler of the Seven Kingdoms was often referred to in the book as the War of the Five Kings. In his novel, A Clash of Kings, George R.R. Martin strategically presents the story behind the War of the Five Kings from viewpoints of nine of his characters, while keeping the readers entertained with persistent wars being fought on and off the

This burden has evolved into a common theme for operas, novels and other pieces of literature. For instance, Benjamin Britten uses this motif as a threshold for his opera Billy Budd. He explores the hunting troubles of captain Edward Fairfax Vere by setting up a narration on retrospect of the hanging of Billy Budd, the handsome sailor . Inspired by Herman Melvilles novel, the opera became well known. In effect, in 1997 John Dexter directed one of the performances in the Metropolitan Opera. The story begins with captain Vere as an old man who narrates in retrospect the story of Billy Budd on his ship the Indomitable. Billy, the handsome sailor, kills the master at arms, Claggart, and is, therefore, condemned to death by law. Vere decides not to influence Billy s verdict and simply hears out what the other three highly ranked sailors have to say. Despite the captain being against the ruling, Billy has to be hanged in order to follow the laws and avoid mutiny from the ship s crew. The narration proceeds with Billy s waiting for his hanging and the execution itself. By the end of the account, Vere asserts that he has accepted Billy s death. This is due to the amount killed and the extreme amount of structure in the mass killing somehow gives it a lot more notoriety in western textbooks. There is also the fact that maybe it is underlooked because it s a less western/ eurocentric impact on history and the countries that were involved. Eugene Rogan in his book The Fall of the Ottomans writes an in depth chapter about the armenian genocide and its origins. It paints the picture that first the Ottomans were not ready for a world war of that scale. This is due to the fact that the empire is way to spread out and its people way to differentiated in ethnicity, religion, and allegiances. These differences led to animosity between the Majority muslim and the minority catholic groups, accusing them to be not loyal to the empire which gave them the public support and the reason to kill and push the minority Armenians out of Turkey. I will be talking about in detail about the Chapter relating to the armenian Genocide; its origins and its importance to the fall of the ottoman empire. The Armenian community was made up of three religious denominations: Armenian Catholic, Armenian Protestant, and Armenian Apostolic, the Church of the vast majority of Armenians. Under the millet system, the Armenian community was allowed to rule itself under its own system of governance with fairly

According to some researchers all the definitions of the concept can be grouped into three views (Peng and Pleggenkuhle Miles, 2008). The first view considers global strategy as a particular form of multinational corporation strategy that treats all the countries as a global marketplace. The second view states that global strategy is related to international strategic management and the third perspective incorporates both international and domestic corporate strategy. Starting from the relationship between pressure to cut costs and pressure to adapt to local conditions (Figure 1), four strategic approaches for global level business have been identified: multi domestic, global, international and of countries across the world with a single strategy that is highly co ordinated and integrated t (Stonehouse, Hamill, Campbell and Purdie, 2004, p. 4). Leadership Reflection For Senior Leadership According to the Introduction to Strategic Studies Course Directive, This year presents an opportunity to walk in the shoes of senior leaders making difficult and complex decisions before you begin wearing them upon graduation. From the above sentence I can conclude that, this paper could be the beginning of my journey to wear the higher level leaders shoes. As I am now starting preparation for a future senior leadershipassignment, I have to equip myself with the required knowledge and skills in order to act as senior military leader. Therefore, Thomas Galvin outlines four mission specific roles and senior military leaders should also take lessons from history, like from The Gulf War, 1990 1991, . The four roles are, a strategic advisor and communicator, a strategic planner, a strategic theorist, and senior leader at the strategic level. So that this paper will focus mainly on my reflection towards to the first two mission specific roles. Therefore, my choice from the roles are the strategic advisor and communicator, and the strategic planner because working to exercise these roles would have more benefit to jump for the rest two roles. On the list of endangered species is the adorable sea otter. Sea otters are not only cute, but they play an extremely important role in the ecological preservation of Pacific kelp forests. Also, the inhalation of the oil by the sea otter results in illness and a weakened immune system (Recarte 10). The population decline of the sea otter serves as evidence of the poor state of the eco system in which they live. In her detailing of The California Recovery Plan, Recart emphasizes the sea otter s important role as a keystone and sentinel (bioindicator) species in their ecosystem, and goes on to state that they are the keepers of the kelp forest (10). Along with its keystone and sentinel role in its eco system, sea otters have important interactions with abiotic and biotic factors. Sea otters have an effect on the abiotic factors of their ecosystem, which include the ocean waves and currents as well as the levels of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the air. They affect those abiotic factors through the controlling of sea urchin populations who, without the sea otter, would decimate the kelp forests that in turn serve as a barrier to ocean currents and waves, providing protection for other marine animals from those elements (Laustsen). The sea otters consumption of urchins also ensures that kelp forest growth prevents soil erosion and that its photosynthesis reduces the amount of carbon dioxide and increases the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere (Nielsen). Without the sea otters protective role of the kelp forest, abiotic factors would go out of balance affecting and harming the biotic factors of this ecosystem. The

The object of mourning and melancholia is unconsciously engraved within the psyche, which is the soul or persona of a person or a group. Ergo, the mourning that Hamlet experiences fraudulently assumes features of [the lost] object and forces itself upon the id (the instinct or the animalistic side of a mind), as it is lost or regained (Ibid,). This outbreak of melancholia is the product of a compulsion to repeat a child like
  • 48. J Coles Be Free Essay For this critical reflection of a protest song I have chosen J Coles Be Free . Through his music and lyrics, J Cole is constantly pushing a political agenda, questioning society and its norms as well as putting a focus on current and past events. There are multiple reasons why I chose this song and genre. Since the Watts riotsin California there has not been a large scale African Americanrights protest. Blues started off the musical African American protest wave and it seemed to end with the death of Tupac. Since the early 2000 s African American music has strayed away from protest and evolved into story telling related to events in the life of the artist and the current trend in rap seems to be about fashion. It is safe to say protest music from the African American perspective had died. So it is amazing to see artist like J Cole still giving voice to the average person and questioning those who control us. The new wave of protest music has resulted from the recent police African American interactions that have resulted in many black teenagers dead. These events have caused riots in Missouri, Baltimore and Florida. J Coles be Free is a protest song about the mistreatment of black peopleand the recent tragedy involving Michael Brown. The Watts Riot in 1965 was a six day massive riot, which was both the largest and costliest urban rebellion of the Civil Rights era (BBC). Singer states three obligations that would help the Bengal region through the means of a wealthy person, and those individuals living life on a day to day basis. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That persons with very low incomes may merit our sympathy is accepted, but sympathy leads to charity, rather than to the involuntary exploitation of the better off (Narveson, 2004). Singer also says that people with a maintainable amount of wealth should give more than the X amount asked for, being that the predicament that some are not able to give or they can give less than the amount asked for. Another, more serious reason for not giving to famine relief funds is that until there is effective population control, relieving famine merely postpone starvation (Singer, 1972). The final and third counter argument is that Singer question exactly how much we should be giving away. In this counter argument, Singer talks of giving until one reaches marginal utility; or in the case where suffering would have greatly increased or decreased in his self, if he gave more than one can afford to give. One should avoid bad things from happening or sacrificing too much to help those in need. Giving until you reach your marginal utility is only required. Singer believes we are obliged to give money away until our sacrifice is of comparable moral importance to the agony of people starving to death (Specter, 1999). This is our duty to do so. An example
