What Does Money Mean In The Great Gatsby
Is money everything, does happiness revolve around money? The harder and more difficult a job the
more money you get, does money make you happy, do you need money to be happy. If you are in need
of money, the more difficult and moral hurting the job the more money you will get from the job,
Money doesn t buy happiness. When looking for a job people tend to look for the higher paying jobs
these jobs are usually difficult, hard, moral killing jobs to get more money. People looking for work
and needing a high paying job are usually willing to do anything for a high paycheck. People will even
go as far as lying on television to people Tobacco industry consultants, for example, were once paid
extremely high fees for their willingness to testify under oath that smoking had not been shown to
cause serious illnesses. Gatsby realized that to have any chance of achieving his goal, he could not be
cautious or squeamish. (Frank). We also see this in the book The Great Gatsby by scott fitzgerald the

In an article by Robert H. Frank he writes about money and the economics of The Great Gatsby. In the
article he explains how money doesn t buy happiness or affect happiness at all the average level of
measured happiness remains essentially unchanged over time, even in the face of substantial growth in
average incomes. (Frank) in the test they ran they levels of happiness remained the same even with a
growth of income. In the book Gatsby was filthy rich but was not happy he still wanted more to make
him happy the money was not enough he needed his old love but even with all the money he had no

Lehmberg V. Travis County Court Case
Soon after, Travis County DA Rosemary Lehmberg contacted Harle to request an appointment. The
judge who was in the midst of a capital murder trial in his home district elected to speak to her by
phone instead, but he had a court reporter transcribe the exchange, which took place on September 16.
During a hearing in Georgetown ten days later, he provided a sealed transcript of the conversation to
Morrison, Raley, Jernigan, and Roberts and called a recess during which the attorneys could read it.
The transcript contained an earth shattering bit of information: a pubic hair that had been recovered
from Debra Baker s bed in 1988 did, in fact, match Norwood s DNA profile.
I remember screaming a lot as we read that transcript, Morrison told me. ... Show more content on

How Did The Hollanders Influence
When the Dutch finally wrested the maritime provinces of Ceilão (Ceylon) from the Portuguese in
1658, there began a second European cultural influence on the Oriental society within the Island s
shores. The Hollanders impact turned out to be of greater significance than their predecessors. They
introduced a common law that prevails today, and left a legacy of their splendid architecture: forts,
churches, hospitals, and residences.
They were also responsible for establishing the Burgher community in the Island, whose members
have contributed to the Island s culture far beyond their slim number. And there are other influences
besides: Dutch words borrowed to fill gaps in the Sinhala language, certain culinary items, even the

However, Roman Catholicism had the advantage of being forcefully promoted by the Portuguese in
the 16th Century: it was ingrained. Despite discrimination many Catholics remained loyal to their
faith, while others nominally embraced Protestantism. Today, Calvinists account for less than ten
percent of the Christian population of Sri Lanka.
Roman Dutch Law
Roman Dutch law, which today serves as the general law of Sri Lanka, was established by the Dutch;
created by the combination of early modern Dutch law and Roman (or civil) law. It was exported from
Holland by colonists first to the Cape of Good Hope, where it became the foundation of modern South
African law, and then the Island the Dutch called Zeilan. As Roman Dutch law ceased to exist in
Holland in the early 19th Century, South Africa and Sri Lanka are the only countries to be ruled by
Roman Dutch law.
The law was initially applied to the Burghers and the Sinhalese elite serving the Dutch administration.
When the British acquired the Island in 1796, it was extended to include low country Sinhalese and
other ethnic groups. Subsequently Roman Dutch law had a sizeable influence on the transformation
of society both in the low country and upcountry where Kandyan law had prevailed until the British
capture of the kingdom in

Essay about The Future of Puerto Rico
Whether or not Puerto Rico becomes the 51st state of the United States of America is an important
issue that has been pondered for the last fifty years. Puerto Rico is currently a Commonwealth of the
United States and has been under U.S. rule for a century. Spain ruled Puerto Rico for about 400 years
prior to the U.S. take over in 1898. The current and pertinent issue, though, is whether Puerto Rico
will remain a Commonwealth of the U.S., become the 51st state, or gain independence. In Doing
Right by Puerto Rico, the former governor of Puerto Rico (1973 1976, 1985 1992) argues that
Congress must take action. He describes the deterioration of the quality of life in Puerto Rico and
explains that it is imperative for a decision to be made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To prove that U.S. motives were purer than those of European imperialists, Congress added to the
declaration of war the Teller Amendment, which denied any intention to annex Cuba. Nothing was
said about Puerto Rico because few even knew about the island...On July 25, 1898, American soldiers
went ashore on Puerto Rico, and the conquering General Nelson Miles promised to give to the people
of your beautiful island the largest measure of liberty...[and] to bestow upon you...the liberal
institutions of our government. Believing them, Puerto Ricans welcomed the Americans (Pastor 1984).
The promises for liberty and liberal institutions were slow to begin and never fully completed. Two
years after the U.S. began to rule the island; the basic structure of the U.S. Puerto Rican relationship
was established with the Foraker Act of 1900. The United States was prepared to defend Puerto Rico
and provided for its currency. In fact the currency in Puerto Rico today has remained as the U.S.
dollar. By 1902, trade barriers between the U.S. and Puerto Rico ceased to exist. It was decided that
the Puerto Ricans would not pay federal income taxes. In conjunction with this decision, those living
on the island could not vote for Congress or the President. In 1917, Puerto Ricans became U.S.
citizens and were free to move to the U.S., however those still residing in

Animal Testing For Animals Essay
Innocent animals are thrust into the horrors of war every battle humans create. These non human
creatures are cruelly experimented with excruciating weapons, used as meat shields to protect soldiers,
and fight for no cause. The use of these animals is inhumane and atrocious. Animals should not be
used for war as long as the military s current methods of experimentation, speciesism, and involuntary
usage of the animals are to be continued. Firstly; Each year thousands of animals perish by cause of
military experiments, with humane, cost effective, accurate alternatives available. In their research
labs, numerous species of animals including amphibians, goats, pigs, and non human primates are
subject to testing used to study the effects of combat casualty trauma, radiation exposure, conventional
weapons, and many more. For example, in Combat Trauma Training, goats´ limbs are amputated to
cause bleeding and hemorrhaging. Rats have been submerged in boiling water for 10 seconds, and had
the burns infected. Medical Training consists of treating gunshot wounds, tissue damage, burns, and
other painful injuries caused by the labs. An example of a humane alternative is an Artificial Human
Immune System, which was to developed to allow scientists to test ... Show more content on

The State Of Michig A Fascinating Area
The state of Michigan is a fascinating area. From its mitten like shape, to its historical background, to
the presence of the Great Lakes, Michigan has a story unlike any others. One very important part of
Michigan s story is how water has shaped the land making up the state. Seeing as the Great Lakes
surround Michigan, it is obvious that the hydrologic system plays a great role in the water supply and
the ecosystem of the Great Lakes. The hydrologic cycle includes evaporation, condensation,
precipitation, groundwater, transpiration and runoff, all of which keep the Great Lakes functioning
year after year. The University Corporation of Atmospheric Research developed an image to simply
explain the hydrologic cycle as well as graphs explaining how each of the elements of the hydrologic
cycle affects The Great Lakes on a monthly basis (located below).
The hydrologic cycle keeps the Great Lakes up and running. Without it, Michigan would not have the
inhabitants it does today. The abundant supply of water allows a vast array of wildlife to live in
Michigan, and made it a desirable place for early settlers to inhabit. However, the Great Lakes did not
just appear out of thin air. There is a long history of how the Great Lakes came to be.
The long history of the formation of the Great Lakes and Michigan start with the impact of glaciers.
Throughout history, there have been four major periods where glaciers moved across Michigan,
shaping and forming the land. Every time a glacier

An organism as complex as the species Homo sapiens is subjected to a host of pathogenic microbes.
These can be viruses, infectious proteins (known as prions), or other lifeforms such as bacteria,
fungus, and helminths. The Measles virus is an enveloped virus with a single strand, non segmented
negative sense RNA genome which is transmitted via the respiratory route (Laksono, et. al). Having
been first written of more than a century ago, medical understanding of the virus has advanced
significantly leading to the development of vaccine in 1963 (Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention). However, since the 1998 article in The Lancet by Andrew Wakefield, which purported a

Despite not having met their goal, Measles was indeed declared eliminated in 2000. The World Health
Organization defines elimination as the absence of endemic cases for a period of twelve months or
more, in the presence of adequate surveillance. Since the start of the post elimination era, incidence of
Measles has been on the rise due to a growing concern over a proposed link between the MMR
vaccine and autism spectrum disorder. This controversy began in 1998, with the publication of MMR
Vaccine and autism by now discredited author Andrew Wakefield. Despite retraction of the article by
The Lancet journal, growing civic concern led to many children not receiving the vaccine and
outbreaks occurring. In totality, Measles continues to be an integral part of the human experience and
the need to understand it has not diminished with time.

Social Class Separation In Alice Monroe s How I Met My...
In Alice Monroe s story How I Met My Husband the most obvious theme is the social class separation
of farmers housewives and regular housewives. The theme of social class separation is showed in
many ways, by the level of education, the level of respect from others, and the level of respect in
themselves. Edie can also see simple things that Mrs. Peebles can not.
All throughout the story people treat Edie differently because of what social class she is in. In
paragraph 165 Edie is speaking about how she took a cake to Chris when Loretta says It s not they
mean harm so much, as they re ignorant. Edie did nothing more than take a cake to someone to Loretta
s knowledge and she is called ignorant for not getting permission to make a cake or see Chris. This
helps further the idea of separation by showing that Edie can t even do a simple thing like bake or talk
to someone without being accused of being a whore or criminal. ... Show more content on

Analysis Of The Movie Copycat
Analysis of Copycat (1995) In the movie Copycat from 1995 there is a character named Helen Hudson
(Sigourney Weaver) who is a psychiatrist that studies the behavior of serial killers. At the beginning of
the film she is giving a lecture at the University of San Francisco and at the end of the lecture, Daryll
Lee Cullum (Harry Connick, Jr.) follows Helen into the restroom and tries to hang her, but fails and
gets locked up in prison. Thirteen months later, Helen suffers from panic attacks and agoraphobia
which have resulted from her Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. She has been housebound for months
now and has a homosexual assistant named Andy (John Rothman). Darryl Lee is in contact with
William McNamara, another psychopath who wants to follow in Darryl Lee s footsteps and become
famous. So Darryl Lee tells William to continue his work of killing Helen. He does this by copying
other serial killer signatures such as John Wayne Gacy, the Boston strangler, and Son of Sam etc.
Three murders have occurred and Helen notices through newspapers that each murder seems to be
done by one person. Therefore, she calls the police to leave an anonymous tip and they mock her and
brush her off as a prank call. However, Officer M.J. Monaham (Holly Hunter) becomes curious and
starts to think that Helen would be able to add to the investigation. So she obtains the case files and
wants to get Helen s opinion on the case. At first Helen is reluctant to help because as M.J. Monaham

The New World Of The United States
More so than that, Huntington was writing during a time when the United States was the world s only
military superpower which lead to the idea that America should take the lead in establishing the new
world order , one which would be dominated by the United States and their allies. Because of this,
American diplomats and officials were faced with regional, religious and ethnic conflicts that, as
Huntington argues, could not be easily solved. During this time the United States were making major
decisions about the layout and status of the new world order. It becomes clear that Huntington would
believe future conflicts would arise from cultural differences due to previous cultural clashes and that
the most powerful country in the world, the United States, was also unable to create solutions for
conflicts fueled by cultural differences.
There are also smaller factors that could have had an impact on Huntington s outlook and thesis. In
1992 Patrick Buchanan was campaigning for the Republican presidential nomination when he warned
that the country was undergoing the greatest invasion in its history, a migration of millions of illegal
aliens a year from Mexico. An influx of immigrants, who bring their culture, customs and religion
with them, could begin to create a clash in Huntington s own country. Living in a time when the
political discourse revolves around anti immigration helps Huntington to argue that civilizations will
clash along cultural lines. If immigrants with

Character Analysis Of Esperanza Rising
In the book Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan, Esperanza is the main character who is the
protagonist. Esperanza is a thirteen year old child that has been faced with more tragic events from the
age of nine to thirteen than some may experience their whole life time. Her character is very smart,
determined, and compassionate just like some of the kids you may know. The author does a great job
with allowing the reader to get inside Esperanza s head to understand her thinking and logic. The
author uses Esperanza life to encourage children who may be going through some of the same
experience, that they could make it through to. Although Esperanza is just a normal kid trying to have
fun, the constant tragic events in her life forces her to mature instantly becoming a strong young adult.
This paper will discuss how Esperanza grew up and some of Esperanza reactions that shows her
growth in maturity, while exploring some of the conflicts Esperanza experienced that causes her to
change her thinking.
First, the book starts off telling the story of how Esperanza grew up in a loving wealthy family who
owned El Rancho de las Rosas in Aguascalientes, Mexico. She was surrounded by generations of
family members who loved her. The family had lots of servants who worked for them during the grape
harvest season and they also helped them with everything else during the off season. Esperanza was a
young girl who really didn t understand poverty and was known to have a snobbish attitude at times
when she was little because of her family s wealth. She was surrounded by families that were just as
wealthy as her own so poverty was not a norm in their community. There are many examples of her
snobby ways in the beginning of book like when she first boarded a train in Mexico and realizes that
she and her friend definitely wouldn t be traveling first class. Her reaction to this was basically like:
You expect me to travel coach?! Yeah right. It was evident Esperanza did not use to a present lifestyle.
Esperanza father was her biggest mentor and she followed his teachings very closely. After the death
of her father, it was people like Abuelita, Mama, and Miguel that help keep Esperanza diva tude in
check which helped keep her

Does Biological Motion Transmit Information about the...
Literature Review: Does Biological Motion Transmit Information About the Emotional States of
Others?
Actors and normal people alike, have exploited the ability to display emotion through body movement
for centuries. However, until not long ago, psychologists considered body movements only as displays
of the intensity of emotions not their specificity. Instead, facial expressions were thought to be crucial
for the judgement of emotions (Ekman, 1973). It was not until the second half of the twentieth century
that research into biological motion illustrated that emotional state can be judged by body movement,
even if only basic emotions such as anger or happiness. However, the evolutionary function of humans
ability to express emotion was suggested a whole century earlier by Darwin (1872).
According to Darwin (1872), each basic emotion has a combination of postures, expressions and
gestures and the ability to recognise emotions has an adaptive advantage. Following on from this
theory, Walk (1984), later proposed the alarm hypothesis which states that the emotions of anger and
fear are more readily recognisable in order to aid survival. Several of the following studies have
addressed this theory. This review will examine the literature into the human ability to detect the
emotional state of others through biological motion as further insight could help people with impaired
social functions, such as those suffering from autism or schizophrenia. The following areas will be

Differences Between Daoism And Confucianism
It is a well known fact that in order to survive, civilizations must change; they cannot remain stagnant
forever. These changes allow a society to grow and develop which is crucial as new breakthroughs can
lift up a civilization from a place of oppression and boundaries into a more equal and freeing place.
However, long held customs or behaviors may be persistent with the lifespan of a society. Typical
behavior can last centuries, but sometimes a small break will occur where a new change is tested out
only to be reverted back to the previous arrangement. During the time period 100 C.E. to 600 C.E
classical chinese civilization witnessed a change of spirituality that disrupted the traditional social
system. However, despite this, China upheld ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example being it s consistent policy of a civil service test that allows a person to become a
government official. This extensive test was special to China as compared to the Roman Empire a
position of power is given to one who has the desire to help his community, not to one who has wealth
and aristocratic titles. Despite going through many leaders and several dynasties, the political system
remained strong and intact with this practice of choosing officials. The mandate of heaven was strong
as well, giving leaders their power along with support from their followers. The political structure of
Chinese culture remained persistent as well, an ode to the structure of their political system. Because
their basis was so well thought out and organized, it didn t need to be altered or changed much with
each new ruler. While Chinese culture was open to some changes, it s political system hadn t the need
to be changed. An intricate system of testing potential government officials, the civil service exam
proved to be unique to chinese culture; a testament to the organization that went into their political
system and future political candidates. The few changes made to the political structure is proof enough
that the early Chinese civilization can be considered a resilient society that understood that a strong

Implementation: True Religion Brand Jeans
True Religion Brand Jeans is a relatively new company, establishing itself in late 2002, and taking
denim in a new direction. Just over three years old, the company has capitalized on the latest
Hollywood trends and narrowed their target market to the likes of celebrities and high fashion ‘gurus
who don t seem to mind forking out $400 for a pair of jeans. Currently, True Religion s strategy is
through differentiation of their product through prestige, brand image and innovation. They have

True Religion employs a production supervisor to monitor its contract manufacturers and an
accountant to maintain the books and records of the company. In the very near future the company
plans to hire two employees to sew and produce its samples for sale and a chief operating officer
responsible for manufacturing, operations and finance. Being so young, the company is still branching
out, has plans of hiring a lot of new staff, and is looking forward to establishing a real ‘structure .
With only a limited number of employees, it is hard to tell whether these employees are really
educated and informed on the matters of decision making, or if they are just making the best decisions
they can, based on limited information or previous knowledge. It is VERY important to have
professionals in each field (ie. Production, engineering, marketing, R D, accounting, etc) to make the
best informed decision.
The structure most appropriate for this new brand would be the simple, functional organizational
structure, CEO and Presidents Jeffrey and Kym Lubell reigning high on the ladder, and having a
designated professional working under them and making more centralized decisions. Currently the
Lubells make the final decisions, enhancing the organizational perspective across all functions of the
organization. This structure facilitates career paths and professional development in specialized areas,
and is critical in the overall smoothness and functionality of the implementation

Compare And Contrast Africa And Lot s Wife
Lot s Wife and Africa are poems depicting the effects of the abuse of power and how the forceful
villains mistreat others due to their positions of superiority and trust. Lot s Wife shows how under a
tyrannous rule which holds no regard for personal emotions renders people either devoid of humanity,
Lot, or devoid of life, Lot s Wife. Africa demonstrates the chaos and terror involved in invasion and
how an overwhelming military force and covetousness can extirpate the magic and God out of a place.
I will argue that both poems show how excessive force and violence can have a strong impact to both
people and places as they circumscribe emotion and obliterate the potential of a civilization. Lot s
Wife indicates how unsettling and unnatural the presence of the harbingers of caustic rulers can be. In
line 1, the adjective just is used to describe Lot as he trailed behind the Angel. Just is used with a
touch of sarcasm as Lot is only just because he follows the Angel. The verb trailed could have been
replaced by followed or a verb which is more indicative of any interest in following the
aforementioned Angel. This suggests that Lot may not want to go with the Angel. This engenders an
aura of fear which is further developed in line 2, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

activity whilst destroying Africa. There is further irony developed from how they are bastardizing God

Wuthering Heights, The Book
The catalyst of this whole story was when Catherine got bitten by a dog at Thrushcross Grove and was
forced to remain there. She returned home to Wuthering Heights a changed woman. No longer the
mischievous little girl that loved to get in trouble with Heathcliff, she was a polite young lady
interested in Edgar Linton. There are three definite divisions in the book, before Heathcliff and
Catherine go to Thrushcross Grange, the time immediately after she returns, and life after she marries
Edgar.
The first recognized stage of this book took place as Catherine and Heathcliff grew up together. They
formed a tight bond only days after Heathcliff arrived at Wuthering Heights, much to the dismay of
Catherine s brother Hindley. Heathcliff found a way into both Catherine and Mr. Earnshaw s hearts, a
relationship that only grew stronger after the death of Mr. Earnshaw. It got to be that Hindley, his wife
Frances, and the staff at Wuthering Heights would purposefully keep the two young children separated
to lessen their shenanigans. One colorful story recounted by Nelly was when they were punished and
forced to read classical books. Both Heathcliff and Catherine refused to do as they were told and
disrespectfully threw the books to the ground. No matter how harsh their punishment was, as soon as
they were together they were once again plainning some other devious plot.

Essay On Reading Intervention
English language learners tend to fall behind their peers due to the inability to read or understand the
language. There are various students who identify themselves as English learners and almost 10% of
public school students in the United States participate in school based programs for ELs (Amendum,
Bratsch Hines, and Vernon Feagans 2017). Many students still tend to lack and struggle in reading and
language development. To help English learner s different types of interventions are being developed
that focus on the needs of the students. Through various strategies like the Core Intervention Model
and the Targeted Reading Intervention help struggling students perform at a standard level with their

It is important to not provide additional verbal instruction between the staircase steps because the
students are English learners who may not understand the various vocabulary words used while giving
the extra instructions. If more explanation is given it can increase the difficulty for Els because it
imposes additional language demands and it can distract them from the phonological focus that they
are supposed to be learning (Gerbert etal 2006). It is hard enough for them to understand what is being
ask of them and giving them extra instructions will just confuse them. It is important to use rapid pace,
explicit and concise questions, and to use enthusiastic praise immediately after a child responds
because the students who are struggling are falling behind their peers, using a fast paced can lead them
to catch up within a short time frame. By using a fast pace approach students have less time of being
distracted, it keeps them focus on the material. To be explicit and concise the teacher fist needs to
model the activity he/she wants the students to do, for struggling readers they need to be taught first of
what they need to do to learn the material (Richards Leafstedt 2009). By demonstrating to the students
what the teacher is asking for they get an idea of what is expected from them. Once the teacher
demonstrates the correct way to do it,

integration of national economic systems. This has benefited and negatively impacted the UK
economy. World Bank figures report globalized economies benefit from higher GDP. On the other
hand, the connectedness of the UK economy puts it as risk. The first global economic crisis was
triggered by the Yom Kippur War, followed by the collapse of the Japanese economy and dot com
bubble burst led to a global recession (Robinson 2006). These events were later dwarfed by the global
financial crisis in 2008, from which the UK economy is still struggling to recover.

policies and practices of HR departments
Labour Market: Kew amp; Stredwick (2010) note a feminisation of the workplace with female
participation rates increasing from 33 % in 1951 to 70 % in 2008. Giddens (2006) attributes this to
three key reasons; changes to family life, financial pressures and personal fulfillment.
Demographic changes have also resulted in an ageing population coupled with a reduction in UK birth
rates. (Chamerlin 2011) The resulting gaps in employment have been filled by migrant workers, due to
the improved mobility of labour afforded by Britain s membership to the EU and globalisation.

ISIS Vs. Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi
ISIS is a government because it is an organization that uses terror to control a group of people into
following their rules. One example is the religious police who work for ISIS. The religious police
control people by forcing women to cover their hair and faces in public, and having shop owners close
their shop during the time for Muslim prayers. In addition, there are different positions in this
organization. Abu Bakr al Baghdadi was the self proclaimed leader of ISIS, and he has a leadership
council, a cabinet, and local leaders that help him control his area. The area that ISIS controls was
gained by conquering other civilizations. Therefore, the state origin for ISIS is the force theory. ISIS is

How Does Rap Music Affect Our Society
What lies beneath the words As the crowd throws their hands up in the air and sing at the top of their
lungs every lyric of Kendrick Lamar s song Be Alright . Each and every person could feel a
connection to one another, even to the complete stranger standing next to them. It is a connection that
still remains indescribable to many. It cannot be met with simple words on a piece of paper read in
your average English class, or interpreted by some literary masterpiece from years ago. It s one that is
delivered by someone who has experienced life. Unlike poetry, rap channels someone s inner pain
without the use of fist or guns. The only weapon rappers use are their words. It is the most powerful
form of expression in today s society because of its ability to empower someone else. Rap can shape
the world with the power of spoken word without an artist even putting pencil to paper. For instance,
rap has been able to remain prevalent in society way more than poetry ever has. The truth of the matter
is, rap music can serve the purpose of improving social justice. It increases awareness of some of the
issues that many people in our nation face. Rap artist do not intend to corrupt the minds of their

Principles of Inventory Management
MBA/550
September 02, 2006
Introduction
The purpose for this paper is to identify two principles of inventory management. An explanation on
how inventory management affects a businesses cash conversion cycle and cost of goods will be
covered. Next, supply chain components as they relate to the week four simulations will be discussed.
Lastly, an explanation of the bottleneck theory will be given along with two solutions on how to
resolve the bottleneck issue.

Stores in 1989 and with Albertsons in 1999, Jewel Osco® maintained market leadership, accounting
for 40 percent of the supermarket business in the Chicago area (www.supervalu.com.)
The Bottleneck Theory
A simple definition of bottleneck could be an activity for which the work equals or exceeds the
capacity of the activity. For example, when company (a) places an order for raw materials from
company (b) who has a shortage on resources. And then companies (c, d, and f) order the same
material from company (b). There is what is called a bottleneck. This means that company (b) does
not have the resources to provide all companies with their orders. This is a problem for all parties the
supplier could potentially lose these customers as well as this profit. The buyers could lose their
customers and could effect the company s future business relations. Two solutions to prevent this
problem in the future could be an increase in resource shipping for example, doubling the norm of
shipping. Also, utilizing new options for shipping such as new ship

Close Reading Of Jane Eyre
Through a close reading of the selected passage of Charlotte Brontë s Jane Eyre: An Autobiography, a
reader can see that Jane attempts to separate herself from her decisions by personifying her emotions
and giving them a specific voice, which strongly reflects the societal views of the time. At this point in
the story, Jane has discovered, on her wedding day, that Mr. Rochester is still married to a woman
named Bertha, and that woman still lives in his house. Distraught, Jane locks herself in her room and
tries to decide what she should do. When she wakes up the next day, she is again confronted with what
she needs to do in the wake of her discovery. When Jane awakens, she asks herself what she should do
and receives the answer Leave Thornfield at once (343). She describes this as the answer her mind

It instead shows Jane s inner struggle to do what is right versus what she desires. The separation
between the voice of herself and her thoughts exhibits her helplessness to change her path from what
her mind has already decided. This displays the heavy influence society has on Jane, which is further
proven by the personification of Jane s two strongest rivaling emotions. The heavy influence of a
patriarchal dominated society is evident in her Conscience being a strong male figure, whereas her
Passion is a weaker, feminine figure. Similarly, the strongest reasoning for Jane to leave Thornfield is
driven by the patriarchal demand for a female to remain pure until holy marriage, rather than Jane s
own desire to leave, further solidifying the idea that the voice given to her mind is not just her own
internal thoughts, but also the demands and expectations of

Essay On Inventory Management
One of the most important aspects to consider when comparing the current purchasing strategy with
the proposed one is the impact of direct deliveries from external suppliers to the central warehouse on
the lead times of spare parts which are ordered by the warehouse planners. Lead times have a big
influence on inventory planning and replenishment policies and lead time savings can be very
beneficial for the business of a warehouse and the performance of a SPSC (de Treville et al. 2004).
Hiller and Liebermann (2001) regard unnecessarily long lead times as a form of waste and minimizing
or avoiding waste as a key component of superior inventory management. In the current setting, three
stages of the SPSC are involved in the purchasing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
when the supplier is located closer to the warehouse than to the respective factory.
The lead time reductions which could be realized with a change from the current to the proposed
purchasing strategy would lead to several improvements for the warehouse planning which are
presented in the following. Shorter lead times would facilitate a more flexible and customer oriented
planning and would lead to a reduction of uncertainty. According to the BAAS planners, this
uncertainty could be reduced especially in the context of forecasting the demand during the lead time.
Obviously, the lead time demand forecasts would be more accurate when the lead times could be
reduced because the shorter the demand period which has to be forecasted is, the more precise will be
the forecast.30 In addition, shorter lead times would consequently lead to lower demands during the
lead time and would result in less variability. Lower lead time demands, less variability and a
reduction of uncertainty would automatically reduce the necessary safety stocks at the warehouse.
Hence, shorter lead times would also result in a reduction of average inventories, reorder levels and
order up to levels. Decreasing average inventories imply less capital tied up in inventory and higher
stockturns. Moreover, less average inventories mean less inventory holding costs. The head of the
BAAS planning department mentioned two additional positive aspects of shorter lead times. Firstly,

Donald Trump s Building A Wall Across The Entire Border...
While there may be some truth to parts of Donald Trump s claims, such as the costs that have been
incurred, but his overall plan is quite radical. The idea of building a wall across the entire southeastern
border is extremely radical in itself. Trump compares the simplicity of such a wall to the 95 story
skyscrapers he has built. Ali F. Rhuzkan has tackled the topic of the reality of a President Trump
building a wall across the entire Mexican American border in his article on the National Memo.
Rhuzkan claims that the main problems with Trump s proposed wall are not technical problems, but
logistical ones. Rhuzkan points out that Trump s border wall, if built as he has described it, would be
one of the largest civil works projects in the history of the country and would face an array of
challenges not found when constructing 95 story skyscrapers (Rhuzkan). Rhuzkan also points out
what Trump s wall would need in order to be functionally effective and also cost effective. A
successful border wall must be effective, cheap, and easily maintained. It should be built from readily
available materials and should take advantage of the capabilities of the existing labor force. The wall
should reach about five feet underground to deter tunneling, and should terminate about 20 feet above
grade to deter climbing (Rhuzkan). Unlike Donald Trump s wall, Ted Cruz s idea for technologically
supported fencing would be far more cost effective, easier to assemble, and could also be

This was a time for growth in the United States, often referred to as the Industrial Age. This time
period was an exciting period because of the fact that there is another revolution going on in the
workplace. As technology started to change and bloom, everything around it started to transform and
more jobs were created. As a result, the Industrial Revolution affected the whole stability of a nation,
not only the economy. It affected the relationships between classes, and also the relationships between
countries and gave those individuals who migrated over to the United States a chance at a prosperous
life without slavery. With many Africans migrating to the United States there were those who decided
to go back to the Caribbean and continue their traditional cultural ways. In the late eighteenth century,
written reports discovered a cultural tradition of masking by Africans in various parts of the
Caribbean: Belize, Bermuda, Haiti, Jamaica, the Bahamas, St. Kitts, Nevis, Guyana, Grenada, and

Structured Interviews In Sociological Research
Structured interviews are very similar to questionnaires. The interviewer is given strict instructions
and often training on how to ask the questions. Each time they interview a different respondent, they
conduct it in a very standardised manner. For example, the same questions are asked, word for word,
in the same order, and tone of voice. One strength of using structured interviews is that the
interviewers asks set, thought out questions with the intention of gaining comparable answers,
meaning that the respondent will not stray from the information that is being required by the
researcher. They can also re ask the question if not understood, which could become a common
problem. However, this could be problematic when using structured interviews when investigating

For example, the researcher might be able to tell if the respondent is being truthful or not. This could
be particularly useful as Item C states that many homeless people are involved with crime and are
therefore perhaps more likely to lie as it has become part of their social identity. Another strength of
using structured interviews is that their rigid format allows the researcher to keep an emotional
distance from the respondent. However, the detachment that is constructed may have a negative effect
on the results of the study as the respondent may be used to gaining sympathy from members of

Joseph McCarthy Throughout the early 1950 s, the nation was deeply engrossed in fears of a

Republican Senator from Wisconsin pushed America s fears to an extreme. As a ploy to get himself re

scheme. McCarthy, while giving a speech, held up a piece of paper and exclaimed, I have here a list of
57 known Communists who are currently employed by the U.S. State Department (Fried, 89). A few

Everyone knew about it, but no one ever talked about it. The first knowledge many American s had of
Communism came from Winston Churchill s Iron Curtain Speech (Matusow, 45). Churchill basically
said in his speech that the Soviet Union was pushing forward a global Communist takeover. And
Churchill also said that he believed, We should not let such a force loose on the planet (Matusow, 46).
That was the first time many American eyes were opened to Communism, and McCarthy made sure it
was not the last. The entire chaos that Senator McCarthy caused had become collectively known as
The Red Scare (Feuerlicht, 34). McCarthy used this entire Red Scare idea to boost his hopes for re

abuse his power and pull the wool over the people s eyes. McCarthy did not work for the benefit of the
people. He only worked for the benefit of himself. Next, the people whose lives McCarthy destroyed

wanted the people that McCarthy said were on his list. But when asked for the list, McCarthy said he

Character Analysis Of Bertha Mason In Jane Eyre
Jane Erye Essay Brief Character in Novel Bertha Mason, although a minor character in Charlotte
Bronte s Jane Eyre , played a crucial role in the love story between Jane and Rochester and gives a
deeper understanding of how mentally impaired people were treated at the time. She is necessary to
Jane and Rochester s imminent marriage and her actions lead the two to reconcile. Her motives and
the causes for behavior are unclear, besides her obvious jealousy towards Jane and betrayal she felt
from Rochester. Not only that, but Bertha also symbolizes everything Jane is not, mirroring her in a
way as a polar opposite. At the start of the novel the reader knows nothing about Bertha mason. She
does not make an appearance till Jane becomes aware of a strong smell of burning coming from
Rochester s room. Although she suspects Grace to have caused it, we find that Bertha set fire to his
room. Rochester simply tries to hide her existence because he wants nobody to know of her, but
cannot get rid of her. But that appears at this time it seems because Jane is troubled, a sort of doubling
image. Bertha is constantly seen as an obstacle standing in Jane and Rochester s way of happiness and
marriage. Her instability is illustrated in an extremely animalistic manner. Bertha threatens to drain

Alice In The Wonderland Gender
Carroll s created characters for Alice in the Wonderland that also include certain male representations,
which were very commonly seen in the Victorian society. These include March Hares and Mad Hatters
who could be viewed as the way of representing male hostility and attitude towards women of that
time. Being a man, Carroll had to manage his anger because of the regressive desires held by him
(Benson 3). One of the strongest characters in the story was the grinning Cheshire Cat. The cat was
shown to master resolving of all the antipathies caused by Alice, and this made the Cat the saving

The book essentially goes over Lincoln s killer and his plans and what his thoughts were before,
during and after the shooting of President Lincoln. It is a book that mainly focuses on John Wilkes
Booth , the killer, and his plans and how it panned out. John Wilkes Booth was an actor and lived a

committed the act of assassinating President Lincoln he did not plan on how he was going to get
through to him,the obstacles he would have to overcome, he just knew he would do whatever he
needed to do to get the task done. Booth was someone who did not like Lincoln s plans for America,
especially the south. He yelled The South is avenged after killing the president of the United States.
Not only were his thoughts on ending the President but also the Vice President and the Secretary of
State because of what they stood for.
James L. Swanson is the Edgar Award winning author of the New York Times bestseller Manhunt: The

The judge who was in the midst of a capital murder trial in his home district elected to speak to her by phone instead, but he had a court reporter transcribe the exchange, which took place on September 16. During a hearing in Georgetown ten days later, he provided a sealed transcript of the conversation to Morrison, Raley, Jernigan, and Roberts and called a recess during which the attorneys could read it. The transcript contained an earth shattering bit of information: a pubic hair that had been recovered from Debra Baker s bed in 1988 did, in fact, match Norwood s DNA profile. They introduced a common law that prevails today, and left a legacy of their splendid architecture: forts, churches, hospitals, and residences. They were also responsible for establishing the Burgher community in the Island, whose members have contributed to the Island s culture far beyond their slim number. And there are other influences besides: Dutch words borrowed to fill gaps in the Sinhala language, certain culinary items, even the introduction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Roman Catholicism had the advantage of being forcefully promoted by the Portuguese in the 16th Century: it was ingrained. Despite discrimination many Catholics remained loyal to their faith, while others nominally embraced Protestantism. Today, Calvinists account for less than ten percent of the Christian population of Sri Lanka. Roman Dutch Law Roman Dutch law, which today serves as the general law of Sri Lanka, was established by the Dutch; created by the combination of early modern Dutch law and Roman (or civil) law. Puerto Rico is currently a Commonwealth of the United States and has been under U.S. rule for a century. Spain ruled Puerto Rico for about 400 years prior to the U.S. take over in 1898. The current and pertinent issue, though, is whether Puerto Rico will remain a Commonwealth of the U.S., become the 51st state, or gain independence. In Doing Right by Puerto Rico, the former governor of Puerto Rico (1973 1976, 1985 1992) argues that Congress must take action. He describes the deterioration of the quality of life in Puerto Rico and explains that it is imperative for a decision to be made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Two years after the U.S. began to rule the island; the basic structure of the U.S. Puerto Rican relationship was established with the Foraker Act of 1900. The United States was prepared to defend Puerto Rico and provided for its currency. In fact the currency in Puerto Rico today has remained as the U.S. dollar. By 1902, trade barriers between the U.S. and Puerto Rico ceased to exist. It was decided that the Puerto Ricans would not pay federal income taxes. In conjunction with this decision, those living on the island could not vote for Congress or the President. • 6. Animal Testing For Animals Essay Innocent animals are thrust into the horrors of war every battle humans create. These non human creatures are cruelly experimented with excruciating weapons, used as meat shields to protect soldiers, and fight for no cause. The use of these animals is inhumane and atrocious. Animals should not be used for war as long as the military s current methods of experimentation, speciesism, and involuntary usage of the animals are to be continued. Firstly; Each year thousands of animals perish by cause of military experiments, with humane, cost effective, accurate alternatives available. In their research labs, numerous species of animals including amphibians, goats, pigs, and non human primates are subject to testing used to study the effects of combat casualty trauma, radiation exposure, conventional weapons, and many more. For example, in Combat Trauma Training, goats´ limbs are amputated to cause bleeding and hemorrhaging. Rats have been submerged in boiling water for 10 seconds, and had the burns infected. • 7. The State Of Michig A Fascinating Area The state of Michigan is a fascinating area. From its mitten like shape, to its historical background, to the presence of the Great Lakes, Michigan has a story unlike any others. One very important part of Michigan s story is how water has shaped the land making up the state. Seeing as the Great Lakes surround Michigan, it is obvious that the hydrologic system plays a great role in the water supply and the ecosystem of the Great Lakes. The hydrologic cycle includes evaporation, condensation, precipitation, groundwater, transpiration and runoff, all of which keep the Great Lakes functioning year after year. The University Corporation of Atmospheric Research developed an image to simply explain the hydrologic cycle as well as graphs explaining how each of the elements of the hydrologic cycle affects The Great Lakes on a monthly basis (located below). The hydrologic cycle keeps the Great Lakes up and running. Without it, Michigan would not have the inhabitants it does today. The abundant supply of water allows a vast array of wildlife to live in Michigan, and made it a desirable place for early settlers to inhabit. However, the Great Lakes did not just appear out of thin air. There is a long history of how the Great Lakes came to be. The long history of the formation of the Great Lakes and Michigan start with the impact of glaciers. Throughout history, there have been four major periods where glaciers moved across Michigan, shaping and forming the land. Every time a glacier ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The New World Of The United States More so than that, Huntington was writing during a time when the United States was the world s only military superpower which lead to the idea that America should take the lead in establishing the new world order , one which would be dominated by the United States and their allies. Because of this, American diplomats and officials were faced with regional, religious and ethnic conflicts that, as Huntington argues, could not be easily solved. During this time the United States were making major decisions about the layout and status of the new world order. It becomes clear that Huntington would believe future conflicts would arise from cultural differences due to previous cultural clashes and that the most powerful country in the world, the United States, was also unable to create solutions for conflicts fueled by cultural differences. There are also smaller factors that could have had an impact on Huntington s outlook and thesis. In 1992 Patrick Buchanan was campaigning for the Republican presidential nomination when he warned that the country was undergoing the greatest invasion in its history, a migration of millions of illegal aliens a year from Mexico. An influx of immigrants, who bring their culture, customs and religion with them, could begin to create a clash in Huntington s own country. The family had lots of servants who worked for them during the grape harvest season and they also helped them with everything else during the off season. • 13. Does Biological Motion Transmit Information about the... Literature Review: Does Biological Motion Transmit Information About the Emotional States of Others? Actors and normal people alike, have exploited the ability to display emotion through body movement for centuries. However, until not long ago, psychologists considered body movements only as displays of the intensity of emotions not their specificity. Instead, facial expressions were thought to be crucial for the judgement of emotions (Ekman, 1973). It was not until the second half of the twentieth century that research into biological motion illustrated that emotional state can be judged by body movement, even if only basic emotions such as anger or happiness. However, the evolutionary function of humans ability to express emotion was suggested a whole century earlier by Darwin (1872). According to Darwin (1872), each basic emotion has a combination of postures, expressions and gestures and the ability to recognise emotions has an adaptive advantage. Following on from this theory, Walk (1984), later proposed the alarm hypothesis which states that the emotions of anger and fear are more readily recognisable in order to aid survival. Several of the following studies have addressed this theory. This review will examine the literature into the human ability to detect the emotional state of others through biological motion as further insight could help people with impaired social functions, such as those suffering from autism or schizophrenia. However, long held customs or behaviors may be persistent with the lifespan of a society. Typical behavior can last centuries, but sometimes a small break will occur where a new change is tested out only to be reverted back to the previous arrangement. Africa demonstrates the chaos and terror involved in invasion and how an overwhelming military force and covetousness can extirpate the magic and God out of a place. I will argue that both poems show how excessive force and violence can have a strong impact to both people and places as they circumscribe emotion and obliterate the potential of a civilization. For example, when company (a) places an order for raw materials from company (b) who has a shortage on resources. And then companies (c, d, and f) order the same material from company (b). There is what is called a bottleneck. This means that company (b) does not have the resources to provide all companies with their orders. The buyers could lose their customers and could effect the company s future business relations. Close Reading Of Jane Eyre Through a close reading of the selected passage of Charlotte Brontë s Jane Eyre: An Autobiography, a reader can see that Jane attempts to separate herself from her decisions by personifying her emotions and giving them a specific voice, which strongly reflects the societal views of the time. At this point in the story, Jane has discovered, on her wedding day, that Mr. Rochester is still married to a woman named Bertha, and that woman still lives in his house. Distraught, Jane locks herself in her room and tries to decide what she should do. When she wakes up the next day, she is again confronted with what she needs to do in the wake of her discovery. This displays the heavy influence society has on Jane, which is further proven by the personification of Jane s two strongest rivaling emotions. The heavy influence of a patriarchal dominated society is evident in her Conscience being a strong male figure, whereas her Passion is a weaker, feminine figure. Similarly, the strongest reasoning for Jane to leave Thornfield is driven by the patriarchal demand for a female to remain pure until holy marriage, rather than Jane s own desire to leave, further solidifying the idea that the voice given to her mind is not just her own internal thoughts, but also the demands and expectations of ... • 31. Essay On Inventory Management One of the most important aspects to consider when comparing the current purchasing strategy with the proposed one is the impact of direct deliveries from external suppliers to the central warehouse on the lead times of spare parts which are ordered by the warehouse planners. Lead times have a big influence on inventory planning and replenishment policies and lead time savings can be very beneficial for the business of a warehouse and the performance of a SPSC (de Treville et al. 2004). Hiller and Liebermann (2001) regard unnecessarily long lead times as a form of waste and minimizing or avoiding waste as a key component of superior inventory management. The lead time reductions which could be realized with a change from the current to the proposed purchasing strategy would lead to several improvements for the warehouse planning which are presented in the following. Shorter lead times would facilitate a more flexible and customer oriented planning and would lead to a reduction of uncertainty. According to the BAAS planners, this uncertainty could be reduced especially in the context of forecasting the demand during the lead time. Obviously, the lead time demand forecasts would be more accurate when the lead times could be reduced because the shorter the demand period which has to be forecasted is, the more precise will be the forecast.30 In addition, shorter lead times would consequently lead to lower demands during the lead time and would result in less variability. Lower lead time demands, less variability and a reduction of uncertainty would automatically reduce the necessary safety stocks at the warehouse. Hence, shorter lead times would also result in a reduction of average inventories, reorder levels and order up to levels. Decreasing average inventories imply less capital tied up in inventory and higher stockturns. Moreover, less average inventories mean less inventory holding costs. The head of the BAAS planning department mentioned two additional positive aspects of shorter lead times. Firstly, large and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Donald Trump s Building A Wall Across The Entire Border... While there may be some truth to parts of Donald Trump s claims, such as the costs that have been incurred, but his overall plan is quite radical. The idea of building a wall across the entire southeastern border is extremely radical in itself. Trump compares the simplicity of such a wall to the 95 story skyscrapers he has built. Ali F. Rhuzkan has tackled the topic of the reality of a President Trump building a wall across the entire Mexican American border in his article on the National Memo. Rhuzkan claims that the main problems with Trump s proposed wall are not technical problems, but logistical ones. Rhuzkan points out that Trump s border wall, if built as he has described it, would be one of the largest civil works projects in the history of the country and would face an array of challenges not found when constructing 95 story skyscrapers (Rhuzkan). Rhuzkan also points out what Trump s wall would need in order to be functionally effective and also cost effective. A successful border wall must be effective, cheap, and easily maintained. It should be built from readily available materials and should take advantage of the capabilities of the existing labor force. The wall should reach about five feet underground to deter tunneling, and should terminate about 20 feet above grade to deter climbing (Rhuzkan). Unlike Donald Trump s wall, Ted Cruz s idea for technologically supported fencing would be far more cost effective, easier to assemble, and could also be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
