Aeneas And Jesus Quotes
Most great leaders have a well controlled emotion. In the Aneid, Virgil presents Aeneas as the leader
of the Trojan who can mostly control his emotion and follows God s prophecy to fulfill his fate.
Similarly, in the Gospel According to Mark, Mark portrays Jesus as the leader of a new religion who
seems never fail to control his emotion. However, both Aeneas and Jesus do sometimes fail to control
their emotions. In fact, Aeneas has little control over his emotion when he tries to revenge for Pallas or
he is intervened by Juno; both Aeneas and Jesus cannot control their emotion in facing the threat of
death.
To revenge for his companion, Aeneas fails to control his anger. In Aeneas trip to the underworld, his
father Anchises teaches him the way to rule the nation, according to Virgil:
But yours will be the rulership of nations, remember, Roman, these will be your arts: to teach the ways
of peace to those you conquer, to spare defeated peoples, tame them proud. (the Aneid, Book6, line

However, Aeneas does not follow those methods because he cannot control his anger. After a long
fight with Turnus, Aeneas eventually defeats him. Wounded on the ground, Turnus, on the other hand,
admits that he has been conquered and begs Aeneas for sparing. Nevertheless, Aeneas sees the
luckless belt of Pallas, Aeneas intimate comrade, on the shoulder of Turnus. He recognizes that the
belt is the trophy that the murder of Pallas, Turnus, takes from Pallas. With anger, Aeneas forgets
about the important ways to rule the nation and kills Turnus. The act of failing to spare the defeated
enemy illustrates Aeneas inability to control his anger. All in Aeneas mind is the death of his comrade
by the hand of enemy that he defeats; thus, his rage rises and takes control over him. To revenge,
Aeneas sets his anger out; and to revenge, He loses the control of his

Executive Order Conversation Report
One particular conversation really got my attention. It started with comments about who would
imagine seeing a Black family walking up the stairs into the most famous house in the world, as the
Boss. That comment migrated into alledged executive orders. That s Johhny Reb type talk! The first
such comment in reference to what Johnny claimed the first Executive Order was to be. The order was
for the groundskeepers to build a watermelon patch in back of the White House. The next so called
Executive Order was the Inaugeration Dinner was going to consist of fried chicken, collard greens,
back eyed peas, corn bread, and of course chitlins. Desert would consist of nanner puddin, sweet
potato pie, or some kind of cobbler. There were other comments

A Source Of Ongoing Confusion
There are many fonts named Garamond and it s a source of ongoing confusion. What most Garamond
fonts have in common is that they are more or less accurate reconstruction either of a type cut by
Claude Garamond in the late 15th century, or of a type cut by Jean Jannon in the mid 16th century.
Claude Garamond was born in Paris, France 1490. He began his career through obtaining an
apprenticeship with a Parisian punch cutter and printer, Antoine Augereau, a protestant printer and
scholar whom is similar to Geoffroy Tory; which promoted the usage of human oriented Europe s
Roman s type instead of the Gothic black letters that popular among the French printers. When he was
around 20 years old. During the early phase of the 16th century Garamond found that in order for the
typography industry to function it needs the cooperation of various unique and multi talented
individuals, thus being able to create a well printed and bound book. The printers of this era were able
and talented individuals that were able to master, if not all, most of the artistic or technical skills
concerning the process of book production. This could range from type design to the fundamental of
bookbinding. Claude Garamond became one of the few to specialize in punch cutting, type design,
and type founding, which he display his skill in Paris to several famous publishers. After his fame
became more evident in Europe, Garamond was commissioned by King Francois I of France to create
a Greek typeface.

Essay On Learned Helplessness
The Effects of Uncontrollable and Unpredictable Events on Anagram Solving Learned helplessness
(LH) is related to behavior and psychological disorders found in humans and animal containing the
potential to affect their health negatively. This is often associated when an individual experiences a
sense of powerlessness after being in similar circumstances repeatedly and begins to feel as a
consistent failure. An analysis was made to examine the effects of uncontrollability and
unpredictability behaviors in an anagram task (Winefield Tiggemann, 1978). Psychologist Seligman
had accidentally discovered this concept of learned helplessness while conducting a study on dogs that
were expected to receive an electrical shock after hearing a tone. This phenomenon learned
helplessness has been hypothesized as the process to acquire knowledge from the expectation between

In addition, people would overall find the task hard, will become frustrated and will not be able to
complete the task in one minute. Two evaluations were taken in the anagram performance that
collected the data for the number of fail attempts to solve the anagrams and the mean of responses
potential (Henderson Lohr, 1982). The individuals responses to the questionnaires were more affected
negatively than positive. Participants were mostly frustrated by having to solve the anagram. Even
though there wasn t a time limit, the participants felt as if they didn t meet the one minute rule and felt
as if they weren t smart enough. As mentioned by Harris Tryon (1983), they implicated the nature of
the instructions as an important variable for producing response deficits and the different effects

Military Life Experience Research Paper
Medved.Session1.Journal
In this Journal I will be writing about my life experience of retiring out of the military and how it has
influenced the beginning of my academic work and goals at Colorado Christian
University (CCU). I will first explain my decision to get out of the military and how that decision as
well as my first job transformed my college goals. I will next explain how this lesson further
confirmed my assumptions on my college career. Finally, I will write about how I plan to apply what I
have learned through my experiences, guidance of God, and this lesson to achieve my college goals at
CCU. Hopefully this journal will help you better understand me and why I am choosing the path of
Business Administration for my college degree. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I hope that by learning in a meaningful way I will be less distracted and excited to learn verses putting
it off. Next let s look at my way forward at CCU after my transition and what this lesson taught me.
After my transformation from military to civilian and learning more about myself in this lesson, I now
have a better picture of how to accomplish my goals. First and foremost, I need to stop using being
busy as an excuse to not get my degree done. I have let too much time pass me by and there will
always be life reasons to hold me back if I let them. The short video clip Ask
It (Stanly, 2015) fits me perfectly regarding how I need to stop making excuses and use my
experiences and take action. Also, knowing I have overcome many obstacles has made me stronger
and increased my ability to push forward. I believe I can better educate myself while
helping others in the process. Helping others is the best way for me to learn the most about myself and
guide me to the right path. I watched ahead and the video for the next assignment,
The Extra Mile (Hoyt, 2008), is a perfect example of how helping others helps you find

The King Case Of Rodney King
One of the examples of how the media can play a role in court cases is the Rodney King case. Rodney

and two friends were driving west on Interstate 210, on the night of March 3,1991, when California
Highway Patrol officer spotted his care speeding down the Interstate. The officers attempted to pull

The Social Hierarchy Of Jane Eyre By Charlotte Bronte
In Charlotte Bronte s novel, Jane Eyre, Bronte seemingly condemns the existing social hierarchy. Not
only are the characters who are most concerned with the allure of fortune and rank portrayed as either
deceitful or unethical, but even characters who ve accepted their means of poverty and demonstrate
honest moral natures are mocked. Rather than use the normal class structures, the book suggests that a
person of impoverished means can be viewed as socially respectable with the condition that they
maintain a sincere desire to better both oneself and their means of living.
The novel highlights the significance of class consciousness and how one particular class can become
subjective to the hands of the dogmatic elites. The derogative attitudes regarding social class first
occurs when Jane suffers horrible treatment from John Reed. He violently torments Jane and
constantly reminds her that she is an orphan and a dependent of the Reed family, forcing into her mind
that to be without a class is to be without worth. He imposes fear into Jane and reminding her that he
is the superior being.
You have no business to take our books; you are a dependent, mamma says; you have no money; your
father left you none; you ought to beg, and not to live here with gentlemen s children like us, and eat
the same meals we do, and wear clothes at our mamma s expense. Now, I ll teach you to rummage my
book shelves: for they are mine; all the house belongs to me, or will do in a few years.

Spring Break Narrative
I remember cooling on the block, with just a couple of my goons. We was smoking till we choked and
looking for a wave. This was the first day of spring break. The previous day my cousin was telling me
about how he had a hoe who was cool with the oppositions. I wasn t really worried about it, but little
did I know she was going to come in handy later on. It was just one of them days we was looking to
drill something. This particular opposition was one me and the set had problems with for years now.
There were many recent altercations with him. His name was Malachi, his hood name was Flash Petty,
but we just called him Petty.
The day started off slow. Me and my homies Spooky and Aloud was chilling in class when my boy
Zay called and said he was about to rumble a hood called Pack. Off the rip I could see how our Spring
Break was going to start off. We were in an alternative school though, while Zay went to the high
school. Me and my homies left early and got picked up by Zay`s older brother Splizz. From there we
went to Splizz`s crib to get the bat. Then off to the high school we went. When u get kicked out of the

riding around looking for them, we ended up seeing the same one I talked to at the store. We pulled up
on the side of him and basically he pleaded the fifth. The only information we got out of him was that
everybody went home and they didn t want problems with us anymore. This again angered me and the
hood, but there was nothing we could do besides go home. One of our cars had split up from us and

How Does Shakespeare Use Deception In Twelfth Night
Most people have told a lie at least once in their life. People, both in reality and in fiction, have been
lying through disguises and through their words for centuries. For many, lying and deceiving has
become part of their day to day lives. Twelfth Night, one of William Shakespeare s many famous
plays, is a romantic comedy that displays a wide range of topics and themes including this theme of
lies and deception. The characters in the play use lies and deceit for several different reasons, some of
which are personal gain, revenge, and sometimes purely for entertainment. Shakespeare first
introduces the use of lies and deception for personal gain. Viola, a young women, is faced with being
stranded in Illyria with no money, no family, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of Olivia s servants, Malvolio, is hated by others for the way he treats them. For this reason, he
becomes the perfect target for Maria, Feste, Fabian, and Sir Toby s sweet revenge. When they are
planning to give Malvolio a forged love letter to humiliate him to Olivia and all others around, Sir
Toby says, He shall think by the letters that thou wilt drop that they come from my niece, and that she
s in love with him, (2.3.148 150). Not to mention, the fake love letter is made even more believable
when Maria admits she can write very like my lady, (2.3.143). Deceiving Malvolio because of the way
he treats others is the first time characters used lies and deceit for revenge. The next time the
characters are witnessed lying for reasons of revenge in Twelfth Night is when Sir Toby, Feste, Fabian,
and Maria continue to mess with Malvolio and try to convince Olivia that he has indeed gone crazy.
After Malvolio has fallen for the counterfeit letter and goes to meet Olivia acting very strangely, Maria
explains to Olivia that Malvolio is in a very strange manner, and is, sure possessed, (3.4.8...9). In
saying this, Maria is suggesting that Malvolio is crazy and possessed by the devil, trying to hurt
Malvolio more than they already have. Nearing the end of the play, when everyone admits to playing
the trick on Malvolio, Feste states, thus whirling of time brings in his revenges meaning what goes
around, comes around (5.1.363 364). Feste is inferring that Malvolio got what he deserves for what he
always did to them. For the purposes of revenge and personal gain are not the only reasons characters
turn to lying and deceiving others sometimes in can be for more comical

Scram Jet Essay
The SCRAMJET, simply abbreviated from Supersonic Combustion Ramjet, is the latest evolution of
the jet engine family. NASA made the news with each test of the X 43A scramjet craft, so I set about
to discover why this type of jet engine should garner so much scientific attention. Turbojet The most
basic jet engine is the turbojet. As soon as the air enters the front of the engine, the blades of the
compressor, compresses the air before funneling it into the combustion chamber. During the
compression, not only is the density of the air increased by compressing it in a confined chamber, but
the temperature of the air also increases as the air molecules of squeezed closer together. The resulting
air that emerges into the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Turboprop The turboprop (turbo propeller) engine combines the simple propeller engine with that of
the turbojet. In this case, in addition to driving the compressor, the turbine also drives a propeller. The
propeller provides thrust like a normal propeller (the wedge shape of the blades pushes the air back),
in addition to the thrust produced by the turbojet part of the engine. Ramjet The ramjet engine is a
much simpler construction than either the propeller or turbojet engine. Unlike these the other engines
that require moving parts (propeller, compressor, turbine, shaft, etc), the ramjet consists basically of a
tube that scoops the air into the combustion chamber where it is mixed with fuel and ignited, and
exhausts the hot gasses through the necked down exhaust nozzle. Because of the high speeds of
operation, instead of compressing the air, the chamber of the ramjet actually expands and thereby
slows the air to subsonic speeds for the combustion process. The force of the incoming air forces the
combustion to be kept behind the inlet. Because of this fact, the engine cannot be operated at subsonic
velocities (Velocities below Mach 1 One time the speed of sound or roughly 740 mph at standard
temperature and pressure). Hence another engine has to accelerate the plane to the point where the
ramjet can function. On the other hand, because of its simplistic construction, the ramjet engine can

diagnosed with PTSD at an elevated rate. Combat Veterans are four times more likely to be diagnosed
with PTSD compared to the general population. With most Veterans being subjected to multiple
deployments and increased traumatic events the number of combat Veterans has increased compared
to past historical eras of war. More Veterans are returning from deployments and are trying to re

Question 1: What was the first time you remember hearing about the conflict between the Soviet

Rebecca: Well, I cannot really remember the first time that I heard about the conflict between the
Soviet Union and the United States. If I think about it, I think that this knowledge was something that
I kind of just absorbed...but did not really understand because no one really took the time to explain
the situation to young children when I was young. I also really do not remember learning much about
the conflict while I was in school.
Strangely enough, I remember hiding in a closet one time, and trying to figure out how I was going to
hide and hold my breath, when the Russians came . I was trying to figure out how I could be so quiet
that they would not find me when they came to search the house. I also remember thinking that the
Russians were somewhere not that far away, where they could easily travel into Indiana and invade

Book Report On With The Old Breed
Book Report on With the Old Breed by E.B. Sledge In the book, With the Old Breed, Eugene B.
Sledge, shares his recollections from the perilous and triumphant events of World War II, while
serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his time as a Marine, he fought two major battles against the
Japanese, on the Pacific islands of Peleliu and Okinawa. Throughout the book, E.B. Sledge illustrates
his encounters during the war and how they left an everlasting effect on his mind and view of life. As
a member of the Company K, 3rd Battalion, and 1st Marine Division he illustrates the pride he
developed in his division with the members he worked alongside. Nicknamed Sledgehammer , Sledge
also described the strong sense of camaraderie he developed and shared among his fellow soldiers. At
the beginning of the memoir, Sledge describes his feelings and situations as a young adult enlisting
into the military for World War II. Eventually after some weeks into his infantry training of becoming
a U.S. Marine, he learns the skills on how to become a strong and dependable soldier against the
unforgiving army of the Japanese. During his time in combat, Sledge describes the strong and brash
personalities of the Marine personnel he fights alongside and their persistence in working together to
defeat the enemy. These personalities would include the outspoken and blunt NCOs (non

Early LGBT Rights Movements
There was also moral and cultural disapproval of early LGBT rights movements, such as nazi and neo
nazi groups, that made it difficult for growth within the gay rights movement to arise. As soon as the
Nazis gained control in Europe, they set the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, a group devoted to help
gays become free, on fire ( Gay ). Because of the Nazis great dislike for homosexuals, they began to
treat all homosexuals horribly by sending them to concentration camps which lead to a complete halt
of progress for the gay rights movement ( Gay ). However, even after World War Two, Nazi groups

Starting in the mid 1900s, many homosexuals were forced to go into jail or lose their jobs or even

treated with a special type of therapy. This therapy was called reparative therapy, a therapy designed to
alter homosexual individuals to become heterosexuals. The therapy was based off the concept that
homosexuality is a behavioral issue or illness that needs to be cured (Morris). In the 1960s, many gays
faced the possibility of psychiatric lockup where they would be put through horrible circumstances to
cure the illness that they were facing ( Gay ). Although for a majority of the 1900s homosexuality was
seen as an illness that needed to be cured, it was also seen as a mental issue that caused those

THE ISSUE OF PRODUCT OF NATURE IN PATENT LAW
INTRODUCTION
There exist several areas where further research and development is essential to promote the longevity
of mankind and enhance the quality of life, and since the aim of the patent system is to promote
innovation, it incentivises the same by looking after the financial aspect of the research through funds
and research grants. At the same time, certain domains of extremely important research, requiring

A CHRONOLOGY OF SELECTIVE JUDGEMENTS ON PRODUCT OF NATURE
A product of nature could be understood as something which exists in nature and the invention or
discovery of which is bereft of significant human intervention. Ex parte Latimer was one of the earlier
cases which disallowed for a patent for a natural product. The Judge opined that the fibre for which a
patent was requested existed in a natural state in the needles of the Australian pine and its existence
was also known of. However, a couple of decades later, in Parke Davis Co. v. H.K. Mulford Co., a
purified version of adrenaline was found to be patent eligible by Judge Hand, who stressed on the
difference in kind, not in degree. The US Supreme Court found an aggregation of naturally occurring
non inhibitive microorganisms to be lacking for a patent . While the Court accepted that the
combination was a step forward and useful, the fact remained that the state of inhibition was its
natural state and had nothing to do with human intervention, and hence, this naturally occurring
phenomena ought to be part of the common knowledge for all men.
One of the major cases , post the enactment of the 1952 Patents Act held that there was nothing in the
wording of the statute that disqualified a

Acids And Its Effect On The Wine Industry
I know that the topic of acids in wines have been discussed many times in our wine circles. It is
important to realize that both good and bad acids exist in the wines that we drink. Let s look at acids in
wines and their effects on the final product that we all enjoy so much.
The relative amounts of tartaric and malic acids vary depending on the grape variety and on where the
grapes are grown. For example, in Burgundy, the Chardonnay has a lower concentration of malic acid
than a Chardonnay grown in the Napa Valley of California.
Both tartaric and malic acids are nonvolatile which means that they do not evaporate or boil off when
wine is heated. An example of a Volatile acid in wine is acetic acid (vinegar). Acetic acid does boil off
when heated, and is undesirable in wine. Volatile acidity of 0.03 0.06% is produced during
fermentation and is considered a normal level.
Tartaric and malic acids are produced by grapes as they develop. In warm climates, these acids are lost
through the biochemical process of respiration. Grapes grown in warmer climates have lower acidity
than grapes grown in cooler environments For example, Chablis (France) produces grapes with high
acid because the climate is very cool, while Napa Valley produces grapes with lower acidity because
the climate is warmer.
Sugar production in a cold verses warm climates is completely opposite of acid production. The
warmer the climate the higher the sugar content of the grapes. Australia verses

Disadvantages Of Strategic Planning
Strategic planning is a process that can allows us to both study and conduct simulations of the future.
The process can show hidden opportunities or threats and providing the way to apply on them early.
Strategic planning gives a clear framework with criteria for us to make day to day decisions, It also
help to identify fragmentary and unaligned choices and personal value judgments. This strategic
planning encourages the commitment of the entire HO in order to achieve the planned results and this
is why it is an important element in institutional cohesion. An organization that has better strategic
planning and applies it consistently can help to raise up corporate reputation.
A strategic plan is the systematic way that describes how your company apply the chosen strategy. A
plan list out where an organization is going within few years and how it s going to reach there.
Moreover, the plan is focused on a major function such as a division or a department.
A strategic plan may list out the purpose of helping an organization do a job in better way. This is
because a plan focuses the energy, resources, and time in the organization to meet the same
destination.
A strategic plan is a management tool that help to

Strategic planning in healthcare shows the financial sustainability of the project as planned. It lets us
know the basic question, Will my idea work? During this phase of planning it s possible to discover
that the answer to that question is a decided no . However, many times a diligent strategic planning
process will find alternatives, other healthcare or medical services, likely to be more successful than
the original idea. All of this is invaluable information to have discovered before committing more time

The Problem Of Global Networks
The development of global networks is happening very rapidly. The number of Internet users in the
world today is about 300 million people, and their number continues to grow. A new user registers to
the Internet every two or three seconds. The number of web pages grows every day, and today there is
more than a billion. Internet opens up a great opportunities for the distribution of information. You can
find any interesting information online at any time, and then it can be easily copied to your hard drive.
To truck the further use the copied material is very difficult. Subsequently, the same material can

Alcatraz Escape Proof Prison
In 1934, Alcatraz seemed a perfect place for an escape proof prison, for America s worst criminals.
Escape attempts were rare in Alcatraz. People who tried, were either Caught, killed,or Drowned. It
was sort of like the titanic, You know, the titanic s never gonna sink, Arthur Roderick said, I think,
everybody just figured that nobody s gonna escape from Alcatraz. But on June 11 1962, 3 prisoners
were known to escape from Alcatraz. Frank Lee Morris, and brothers John and Clarence Anglin. They
broke out of their prisons, never to be found, Alive nor dead. It s still a mystery whether they survived
or drowned. The case is still opened some 40 years later. Their story began on August 11 1934, when
the old military prison reopened on Alcatraz island as a federal penitentiary. They re gonna put the

Why Does The Final Electron Energy Not Depend On The...
1. Why does the final electron energy not depend on the focusing cylinder voltage?
The final electron energy does not depend on the focusing cylinder voltage because it applies a force
that is parallel to the magnetic field rather than perpendicular to it.
2. Do you think the electrons are emitted from the cathode with zero velocity, one velocity, or a range
of velocities? Hint: The electrons inside the metal that are able to escape are a bit like a gas of
molecules at finite temperature.
I think that the electrons that are emitted from the cathode are emitted with a range of velocities
(perhaps like a Boltzmann distribution where average speed clusters in the middle of the range).

To get the electrons to move at the same speed, we would have to turn up the voltage and this would
overheat the expensive apparatus filament.
4. Why doesn t the magnetic field change the speed of the electrons? (Speed is taken to be the
magnitude of the velocity. The velocity is a vector.)
The magnetic field does not change the speed of the electrons. Since the magnetic field is always
perpendicular to the velocity, only the electron movement direction changes and not the speed.

Jesus Prayer Analysis

The Jesus Prayer: The Ancient Desert Prayer that Tunes the Heart to God by Frederica Mathewes

Paul Forbes
PHIL 231: Practical Wisdom Lab I
September 11, 2017
Reading Assignment: I read one hundred percent of the assigned book, The Jesus Prayer: The Ancient
Desert Prayer that Tunes the Heart to God by Frederica Mathewes Green.
Précis
During the second through fifth century men and women, known as the Desert Fathers and Mothers
relocated to the deserts of Palestine and Egypt and fully devoted themselves to being in constant
communion with God. In their prolific writings, they explained that they were motivated, in part, by
Paul s admonition to pray without ceasing (see Romans 12:12, Ephesians 6:18, Colossians 4:2, I
Thessalonians 5:17). Reasoning that if he repeated this admonition to four bodies of Christians then he
believed that this depth of connection with God was attainable.
Frederica Mathewes Green has written a concise book explaining these early Desert Christian s quest
to pray without ceasing as an avenue to be in constant communion with God. The first third of her
book, The Jesus Prayer: The Ancient Desert Prayer that Tunes the Heart to God, offers a brief history,
theology, and spirituality of Orthodoxy to introduce the prayer practice commonly referred to as the
Jesus Prayer. The last two thirds uses a conversational question and answer format that takes the
reader through practical steps for adopting this prayer into their daily life.
A main focus of the book explains how Christians can use the Jesus Prayer to overcome one of the
biggest obstacles to prayer, which is the steady stream of thoughts, inner conversations, and emotions
that disrupt the mind and keep it unsettled. Remarkably, they discovered that intrusive distractions
during periods of prayer could be cured with a substitute thought a single, simple thought of prayer.
After experimenting with various short scriptures and petitions, this prayer, rooted in Scripture
emerged, Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me.
Thus, the Jesus Prayer is drawn from passages in the Gospels where people called on Jesus for mercy.
Specifically, the ten lepers, recorded in Luke 17:13, cried out, Jesus,

motivation and distractions. Some even feel as though college is scam, making us rack up debt to try

The top reason leading to most drop outs is financial issues. Most people in America can t afford to

The professors aren t down the throats of their students either. The professors are not telling students

benefits them, they then are getting paid again to teach the student the same material over again.
Having a decline in outside motivation mixing with the student s own personal lack of motivation
really takes a plummet on the student school wise.
Also a lot of students get caught up in the partying which poses as a huge distraction to students.
There are constantly parties on big universities which draws the attention of the student off schooling.
They lose their own desire and push to do their school work and allow themselves to get distracted by
what s going on around them.
Some students even get caught up in drugs, especially the ever so popular drug marijuana. Marijuana
which leaves most people feeling fatigue and lazy has a huge impact on the student s performance. All
of this can take the student away from their schooling and doing their work which would result in
them doing badly in classes leaving them feeling hopeless in classes causing them to drop out.
All of this mixing in with some people honestly just do not have the maturity level for college. They

Pros And Cons Of Hearsay Testimony
When a crime is committed, one of the most important evidences for convincing jurors to make the
decision is witness evidence. Witnesses in crimes have also been a crucial part on determining the
final verdict. However, child witness testimony should not be allowed due to the harm that it inflicts
on children. The article between a rock and a hard place: Why hearsay testimony may be a necessary
evil in child sexual abuse cases by Watters, T., Brineman, J., Wright, S. compares the positive and

Essay On Pompeii
How does Pompeii relate to the wider Roman world?
The ancient Roman city of Pompeii was located near modern day Naples, in the Italian region of
Campania. Destroyed and buried under 20ft of ash and pumice with the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in
79 AD, at the height of its glory and grandeur ... Pompeii was one of the largest cities in the empire
with a population totalling 20,000 . This paper will look at the socio economic structure in both
Pompeii and the wider Roman world. Pompeii was a typical Roman city, imitating the capital city of
Rome. Life was dependent on economic status: commerce and agriculture contributed to the economy,
while the Roman baths and amphitheatre provided leisure to the citizens of the Roman Empire.
Pompeii s ruins give an unparalleled glimpse into the daily life of city dwellers. During the first
century AD, Pompeii prospered as a commercial and farming centre ... with commodities including
wool, flowers and perfume, and garum . In order to enhance its status within the Roman world,
Pompeii s buildings emulated the magnificent public buildings that were found in the capital city,

gladiators followed rules in order to entertain spectators and encourage displays of martial excellence:

The gong is another percussion instrument that is a type of cymbal and is untuned. Maracas are also a

can also be a percussion through beat boxing, making noise that resembles that of drums and other
instruments. There are also many string instruments. The Clavichord instrument is one of the oldest
string instruments and is only capable of producing a small sound. The ones used, mainly, in an
orchestra are as follow: Violin (fiddle), Viola, Cello, and the Double Bass. A violin can also be called a
fiddle as it is usually called in folk music. The viola is a fretless instrument and, thus, harder to play.
Other popular string instruments are the acoustic guitar whose origin dates back thousands of years in
Greek, Sanskrit, and Arabic cultures. Some examples of guitar like instruments are the Dotar (two
strings), the Setar (three strings), the Qithara (four strings), the Panchtar (five strings), and the Tamber,
which is the ancestor of the modern day guitar. Acoustic instruments don t generally have a need for

Strategic Planning And Strategic Management Essay
Before a business can strategically plan for the future, it must understand the overall strategic
management process. According to Abraham (2012), Strategic management is nothing less than
steering and managing a company to be successful over time not just for the next quarter or year, but
for the long term. (sec. 1.1). Many questions will be answered during this process. What direction
should the company go in, what industry will it compete in, and what products or services will be
featured? (Abraham, 2012, sec. 1.1). Strategic planning and strategic implementation are the two
primary parts of strategic management. This paper will focus on strategic planning. The purpose of
this paper is to describe a detailed strategic plan for The Club at Hidden Creek that will allow it to

A Brief Note On The Migration Of Patient Health Records
Samara Zamora
Final Project
Steps Involved in Migration of Patient Health Records
A hospital in Orlando, FL has decided to switch from a paper based system to an electronic health
record system. An electronic health record is a computerized, accessible record that contains
multimedia data (scanned images, digital, video, voice, and so on) about the patient; it is basically the
patient s paper chart. EHR s are real time records which allow instant availability to those who have
authorized access to the EHR (Bowie, 2011). There are many reasons for a hospital to want to change
from paper records to an EHR; the usual primary reason is to improve medical documentation. First
and foremost it is important to establish what the hospital s primary reason is to establish an EHR.
Knowing this will make the transition smoother and faster because of comprehensive EHR software
and hardware installation that is comprised of a number of different components (Medflow).
The steps involved in the migration of patient health records from a paper based system to an
electronic health record in a hospital setting are as follows:
1. It is important to have an estimated project budget for the transition, having this will prevent delays
or cost overruns later.
2. The hospital might need to hire an outside company or decentralize document imaging at different
locations in the practice. If an outside company is hired records are sent offsite to be scanned and
converted, the hospital needs to

Gender In Religion In Islam, Islam And Religion
Gender in Religion
Religion is a major cornerstone of human identity and culture. Anywhere you look on earth where
there are people, there is a religion or set of beliefs that those people follow. Many times, the teaching
of these Religions can be twisted and manipulated to justify gender bias. The Simple truth is people
are treated very differently based on their Gender by followers of two of the most popular religions in
the world: Islam and Judaism. I am going to examine some ways the teaching of these two major
religions are used to oppress, abuse, and differentiate women.
The first major religion I am going to examine is Islam. Religious roles are mainly imposed on women
in Islam through the clothing they are required to wear. Clothing is tied very close to ones self identity,
as Waseem Fayyaz and Anila Kamal tell us in Practicing Hijab (veil): A Source of Autonomy and Self
esteem for Modern Muslim Women. They write, The attire we wear is also strongly connected with
identity. It is related with the sense of one s self Different classes of society wear different dress to
mark their status and position in society. Kings and ruling elite have worn heavy and elaborate robes
while public clothing has been simple. We use different uniforms to mention our jobs or institutions.
People of different cultures wear different dresses. Besides culture and region where we live, dress
code is also determined by the faith we espouse. This way dress becomes a symbol of one s

Research Paper On Child Slavery
Child Slavery Up until the 13th amendment, owning a slave had been just like owning any other piece
of property. No one felt guilty about how the slaves were being mistreated. The 13th amendment was
the first step in ending slavery in the United States, but no steps were taken to end slavery in other
countries. Even though people believe that slavery no longer exists today, about 5.5 million children
are still held captive in slavery (Anti Slavery International 2012). Child slavery can come in many
different forms. There are a few differences between child work, child labor, and child slavery. Child
work is beneficial to the child. Work can be used to gain skills or knowledge that is essential for the
child growing up. Work can also be a source of income for a family. Child labor is the child being
taken away from an education and development. An example of child labor would be a ten year old
child working for a company when the labor laws say that the minimum working age is 15. The worst
form of child labor is when the child is doing hazardous work. Any work that is dangerous to the child
is considered hazardous work. Slavery and slavery like practices are the major and most common
types of child labor. Child trafficking is transporting children away from their homes and families, so
they can be exploited for sex or labor. The children are left vulnerable and at the mercy of their
employers (Anti Slavery International). In 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human

Memories In The Silent Cry
Each novel has specific themes or images it is attempting to portray throughout the text. The Silent
Cry is no exception to this attempt. After reading the novel, it soon became clear to me that the theme
of this novel is the importance of memories. I believe that the novel is trying to show how important
our memories are while highlighting the differences of these memories between family members
based on their life experiences. The first place where we can see the vastly different recollection of
memories is when the brothers are discussing S. Takashi has very fond memories of S bringing him

that in his arguments against his brother. Mitsu enjoys taking this memory way from his brother and
declares that he has the memory mistaken: That was what he wanted to believe, so he was almost
consciously ignoring the fact that it was wrong (Oe, Pg. 95) The importance of memories is key to
understanding the novel, but we must also focus on the idea of life experiences. I believe that the life
events that each of the brothers has experienced alter the way in which they recall memories. Mitsu

to a son with medical issues. He is used to seeing difficult things and has no trouble recalling painful

The United States Naval Observatory Flagstaff Station
Percival Lowell came to Flagstaff in 1894, Arizona was still a territory, and Flagstaff had a population
of less than 1,000 people (Putnam). In 1930, Flagstaff was put on the map with the discovery of Pluto,
using Lowell s calculations, and became the first planet discovered outside of Europe. People flocked
to the up and coming science based town, revitalizing the population to 8,000 by 1955. As the
population boom was upon this quiet wooded town, the U.S. Naval Observatory Flagstaff Station was
established, as was the U.S Geological Survey in 1963. With more observatories being built and the
advancement of the natural sciences, the need for the preservation of dark skies in Flagstaff became
apparent (Flagstaff s). The first upward battle in the establishment of dark skies that Flagstaff faced
was in 1958. A new telescope was set to be built, but because of the increase in light pollution that was
creeping up Mars Hill, the Anti searchlight law went into effect. The Anti searchlight law allowed
officers to fine individuals $300 when in possession of a searchlight, or receive 90 days in jail. By
June 1972, Tucson had adopted Arizona s second lighting law all lights had to be pointed downward
and Pima County developed a similar law soon after. The City of Flagstaff was next to follow suit
(Putnam). Light from Flagstaff s growing city continued to prove difficult for astronomers. In 1980,

The Importance Of Computer Technology In Education
The past few decades have been marked by rapid development in computer technology from the early
days of the mainframe computers in the 1960s to the current age whereby the gap between computer
technology and everyday life has reduced immensely. There is no doubt that computers have
permeated everyday life from their use in almost all aspects of life from the social aspects through
social media, to their use in making everyday life better in every way. However, an argument brought
to the fore postulates that there has been an overreliance on computer technology to the point where
humans are unable to function without them. While one school of thought argues that this is true by
highlighting that various functions such as medical examinations can only be done using computer
technology, another points out that there is need to develop human ability without necessarily relying
on computers.

determined to be SN2 after careful reading of the data obtained and the procedure followed.
Increasing the amount of NaBr used in the reaction did not have an effect on the product yield. The
conditions of the reactions were acidic due to the solvent used. The acidic conditions prevent an E2
substitution reaction from occurring. In this reaction, the OH leaving group is replaced with the
nucleophile Br. The bromine attacks the first carbon and the OH group leaves in the same step. This is
a concerted process or bimolecular substitution mechanism (SN2). The location of the leaving group
(primary) also indicates the reaction is SN2. The data obtained from 1H NMR was found to confirm
the correct product was formed. The data showed the correct location and coupling of hydrogens in
the product. There should be a difference of polarities between the starting material and the product.
The product should travel further on the TLC plate than the starting material because the starting
material should be more polar than the product. The TLC results confirm the product was less polar
than the

But in a multiprocessor environment if a process disables the interrupts on its CPU, the interrupts are
not disabled on others CPUs. The processes of other CPU can enter the same critical region. Busy
Waiting is effective both in uniprocessor and multiprocessor systems. There are other atomic
operations available as well to implement mutual exclusion.
Answer for Question No.4: In the design of the readers writers problem using a monitor, why is it
advisable to keep the protected resource external to the monitor?
As it is required that only one writer should be inside the monitor to achieve data consistency. If the
shared memory (protected resource) is kept inside the monitor then at any point of time either only
one writer or reader can be inside monitor. But multiple reader should be able to read the data at the
same time for efficiency of the system. If the shared memory is inside the monitor then multiple
readers cannot read the data at the same time.
Answer for Question No.5: How do serializers solve several deficiencies of monitors?

  • 2. Aeneas And Jesus Quotes Most great leaders have a well controlled emotion. In the Aneid, Virgil presents Aeneas as the leader of the Trojan who can mostly control his emotion and follows God s prophecy to fulfill his fate. Similarly, in the Gospel According to Mark, Mark portrays Jesus as the leader of a new religion who seems never fail to control his emotion. However, both Aeneas and Jesus do sometimes fail to control their emotions. In fact, Aeneas has little control over his emotion when he tries to revenge for Pallas or he is intervened by Juno; both Aeneas and Jesus cannot control their emotion in facing the threat of death. To revenge for his companion, Aeneas fails to control his anger. In Aeneas trip to the underworld, his father Anchises teaches him the way to rule the nation, according to Virgil: But yours will be the rulership of nations, remember, Roman, these will be your arts: to teach the ways of peace to those you conquer, to spare defeated peoples, tame them proud. (the Aneid, Book6, line 1134 1137) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Aeneas does not follow those methods because he cannot control his anger. After a long fight with Turnus, Aeneas eventually defeats him. Wounded on the ground, Turnus, on the other hand, admits that he has been conquered and begs Aeneas for sparing. Nevertheless, Aeneas sees the luckless belt of Pallas, Aeneas intimate comrade, on the shoulder of Turnus. He recognizes that the belt is the trophy that the murder of Pallas, Turnus, takes from Pallas. With anger, Aeneas forgets about the important ways to rule the nation and kills Turnus. The act of failing to spare the defeated enemy illustrates Aeneas inability to control his anger. All in Aeneas mind is the death of his comrade by the hand of enemy that he defeats; thus, his rage rises and takes control over him. To revenge, Aeneas sets his anger out; and to revenge, He loses the control of his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Executive Order Conversation Report One particular conversation really got my attention. It started with comments about who would imagine seeing a Black family walking up the stairs into the most famous house in the world, as the Boss. That comment migrated into alledged executive orders. That s Johhny Reb type talk! The first such comment in reference to what Johnny claimed the first Executive Order was to be. The order was for the groundskeepers to build a watermelon patch in back of the White House. The next so called Executive Order was the Inaugeration Dinner was going to consist of fried chicken, collard greens, back eyed peas, corn bread, and of course chitlins. Desert would consist of nanner puddin, sweet potato pie, or some kind of cobbler. There were other comments ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Source Of Ongoing Confusion There are many fonts named Garamond and it s a source of ongoing confusion. What most Garamond fonts have in common is that they are more or less accurate reconstruction either of a type cut by Claude Garamond in the late 15th century, or of a type cut by Jean Jannon in the mid 16th century. Claude Garamond was born in Paris, France 1490. He began his career through obtaining an apprenticeship with a Parisian punch cutter and printer, Antoine Augereau, a protestant printer and scholar whom is similar to Geoffroy Tory; which promoted the usage of human oriented Europe s Roman s type instead of the Gothic black letters that popular among the French printers. When he was around 20 years old. During the early phase of the 16th century Garamond found that in order for the typography industry to function it needs the cooperation of various unique and multi talented individuals, thus being able to create a well printed and bound book. The printers of this era were able and talented individuals that were able to master, if not all, most of the artistic or technical skills concerning the process of book production. This could range from type design to the fundamental of bookbinding. Claude Garamond became one of the few to specialize in punch cutting, type design, and type founding, which he display his skill in Paris to several famous publishers. After his fame became more evident in Europe, Garamond was commissioned by King Francois I of France to create a Greek typeface. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay On Learned Helplessness The Effects of Uncontrollable and Unpredictable Events on Anagram Solving Learned helplessness (LH) is related to behavior and psychological disorders found in humans and animal containing the potential to affect their health negatively. This is often associated when an individual experiences a sense of powerlessness after being in similar circumstances repeatedly and begins to feel as a consistent failure. An analysis was made to examine the effects of uncontrollability and unpredictability behaviors in an anagram task (Winefield Tiggemann, 1978). Psychologist Seligman had accidentally discovered this concept of learned helplessness while conducting a study on dogs that were expected to receive an electrical shock after hearing a tone. This phenomenon learned helplessness has been hypothesized as the process to acquire knowledge from the expectation between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, people would overall find the task hard, will become frustrated and will not be able to complete the task in one minute. Two evaluations were taken in the anagram performance that collected the data for the number of fail attempts to solve the anagrams and the mean of responses potential (Henderson Lohr, 1982). The individuals responses to the questionnaires were more affected negatively than positive. Participants were mostly frustrated by having to solve the anagram. Even though there wasn t a time limit, the participants felt as if they didn t meet the one minute rule and felt as if they weren t smart enough. As mentioned by Harris Tryon (1983), they implicated the nature of the instructions as an important variable for producing response deficits and the different effects should result from telling a subject (correctly or incorrectly) that he or she can solve the task at ... Military Life Experience Research Paper Medved.Session1.Journal In this Journal I will be writing about my life experience of retiring out of the military and how it has influenced the beginning of my academic work and goals at Colorado Christian University (CCU). I will first explain my decision to get out of the military and how that decision as well as my first job transformed my college goals. I will next explain how this lesson further confirmed my assumptions on my college career. Finally, I will write about how I plan to apply what I have learned through my experiences, guidance of God, and this lesson to achieve my college goals at CCU. Hopefully this journal will help you better understand me and why I am choosing the path of Business Administration for my college degree. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next let s look at my way forward at CCU after my transition and what this lesson taught me. After my transformation from military to civilian and learning more about myself in this lesson, I now have a better picture of how to accomplish my goals. First and foremost, I need to stop using being busy as an excuse to not get my degree done. I have let too much time pass me by and there will always be life reasons to hold me back if I let them. The short video clip Ask It (Stanly, 2015) fits me perfectly regarding how I need to stop making excuses and use my experiences and take action. Also, knowing I have overcome many obstacles has made me stronger and increased my ability to push forward. I believe I can better educate myself while helping others in the process. Helping others is the best way for me to learn the most about myself and guide me to the right path. • 8. The Social Hierarchy Of Jane Eyre By Charlotte Bronte In Charlotte Bronte s novel, Jane Eyre, Bronte seemingly condemns the existing social hierarchy. Not only are the characters who are most concerned with the allure of fortune and rank portrayed as either deceitful or unethical, but even characters who ve accepted their means of poverty and demonstrate honest moral natures are mocked. Rather than use the normal class structures, the book suggests that a person of impoverished means can be viewed as socially respectable with the condition that they maintain a sincere desire to better both oneself and their means of living. The novel highlights the significance of class consciousness and how one particular class can become subjective to the hands of the dogmatic elites. The derogative attitudes regarding social class first occurs when Jane suffers horrible treatment from John Reed. He violently torments Jane and constantly reminds her that she is an orphan and a dependent of the Reed family, forcing into her mind that to be without a class is to be without worth. He imposes fear into Jane and reminding her that he is the superior being. You have no business to take our books; you are a dependent, mamma says; you have no money; your father left you none; you ought to beg, and not to live here with gentlemen s children like us, and eat the same meals we do, and wear clothes at our mamma s expense. • 11. How Does Shakespeare Use Deception In Twelfth Night Most people have told a lie at least once in their life. People, both in reality and in fiction, have been lying through disguises and through their words for centuries. For many, lying and deceiving has become part of their day to day lives. Twelfth Night, one of William Shakespeare s many famous plays, is a romantic comedy that displays a wide range of topics and themes including this theme of lies and deception. The characters in the play use lies and deceit for several different reasons, some of which are personal gain, revenge, and sometimes purely for entertainment. Shakespeare first introduces the use of lies and deception for personal gain. Viola, a young women, is faced with being stranded in Illyria with no money, no family, ... Not to mention, the fake love letter is made even more believable when Maria admits she can write very like my lady, (2.3.143). The next time the characters are witnessed lying for reasons of revenge in Twelfth Night is when Sir Toby, Feste, Fabian, and Maria continue to mess with Malvolio and try to convince Olivia that he has indeed gone crazy. After Malvolio has fallen for the counterfeit letter and goes to meet Olivia acting very strangely, Maria explains to Olivia that Malvolio is in a very strange manner, and is, sure possessed, (3.4.8...9). • 12. Scram Jet Essay The SCRAMJET, simply abbreviated from Supersonic Combustion Ramjet, is the latest evolution of the jet engine family. NASA made the news with each test of the X 43A scramjet craft, so I set about to discover why this type of jet engine should garner so much scientific attention. Turbojet The most basic jet engine is the turbojet. As soon as the air enters the front of the engine, the blades of the compressor, compresses the air before funneling it into the combustion chamber. During the compression, not only is the density of the air increased by compressing it in a confined chamber, but the temperature of the air also increases as the air molecules of squeezed closer together. The resulting air that emerges into the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Turboprop The turboprop (turbo propeller) engine combines the simple propeller engine with that of the turbojet. In this case, in addition to driving the compressor, the turbine also drives a propeller. The propeller provides thrust like a normal propeller (the wedge shape of the blades pushes the air back), in addition to the thrust produced by the turbojet part of the engine. Ramjet The ramjet engine is a much simpler construction than either the propeller or turbojet engine. Unlike these the other engines that require moving parts (propeller, compressor, turbine, shaft, etc), the ramjet consists basically of a tube that scoops the air into the combustion chamber where it is mixed with fuel and ignited, and exhausts the hot gasses through the necked down exhaust nozzle. Because of the high speeds of operation, instead of compressing the air, the chamber of the ramjet actually expands and thereby slows the air to subsonic speeds for the combustion process. The force of the incoming air forces the combustion to be kept behind the inlet. Because of this fact, the engine cannot be operated at subsonic velocities (Velocities below Mach 1 One time the speed of sound or roughly 740 mph at standard temperature and pressure). Hence another engine has to accelerate the plane to the point where the ramjet can function. On the other hand, because of its simplistic construction, the ramjet engine can ... • 19. Acids And Its Effect On The Wine Industry I know that the topic of acids in wines have been discussed many times in our wine circles. It is important to realize that both good and bad acids exist in the wines that we drink. Let s look at acids in wines and their effects on the final product that we all enjoy so much. The relative amounts of tartaric and malic acids vary depending on the grape variety and on where the grapes are grown. For example, in Burgundy, the Chardonnay has a lower concentration of malic acid than a Chardonnay grown in the Napa Valley of California. Both tartaric and malic acids are nonvolatile which means that they do not evaporate or boil off when wine is heated. An example of a Volatile acid in wine is acetic acid (vinegar). Acetic acid does boil off when heated, and is undesirable in wine. Volatile acidity of 0.03 0.06% is produced during fermentation and is considered a normal level. Tartaric and malic acids are produced by grapes as they develop. In warm climates, these acids are lost through the biochemical process of respiration. Grapes grown in warmer climates have lower acidity than grapes grown in cooler environments For example, Chablis (France) produces grapes with high acid because the climate is very cool, while Napa Valley produces grapes with lower acidity because the climate is warmer. Sugar production in a cold verses warm climates is completely opposite of acid production. The warmer the climate the higher the sugar content of the grapes. Australia verses ... • 24. Jesus Prayer Analysis Précis The Jesus Prayer: The Ancient Desert Prayer that Tunes the Heart to God by Frederica Mathewes Green Paul Forbes PHIL 231: Practical Wisdom Lab I September 11, 2017 Reading Assignment: I read one hundred percent of the assigned book, The Jesus Prayer: The Ancient Desert Prayer that Tunes the Heart to God by Frederica Mathewes Green. Précis During the second through fifth century men and women, known as the Desert Fathers and Mothers relocated to the deserts of Palestine and Egypt and fully devoted themselves to being in constant communion with God. In their prolific writings, they explained that they were motivated, in part, by Paul s admonition to pray without ceasing (see Romans 12:12, Ephesians 6:18, Colossians 4:2, I Thessalonians 5:17). Reasoning that if he repeated this admonition to four bodies of Christians then he believed that this depth of connection with God was attainable. Frederica Mathewes Green has written a concise book explaining these early Desert Christian s quest to pray without ceasing as an avenue to be in constant communion with God. The first third of her book, The Jesus Prayer: The Ancient Desert Prayer that Tunes the Heart to God, offers a brief history, theology, and spirituality of Orthodoxy to introduce the prayer practice commonly referred to as the Jesus Prayer. The last two thirds uses a conversational question and answer format that takes the reader through practical steps for adopting this prayer into their daily life. A main focus of the book explains how Christians can use the Jesus Prayer to overcome one of the biggest obstacles to prayer, which is the steady stream of thoughts, inner conversations, and emotions that disrupt the mind and keep it unsettled. Remarkably, they discovered that intrusive distractions during periods of prayer could be cured with a substitute thought a single, simple thought of prayer. After experimenting with various short scriptures and petitions, this prayer, rooted in Scripture emerged, Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me. Thus, the Jesus Prayer is drawn from passages in the Gospels where people called on Jesus for mercy. Specifically, the ten lepers, recorded in Luke 17:13, cried out, Jesus, ... • 30. A Brief Note On The Migration Of Patient Health Records Samara Zamora Final Project Steps Involved in Migration of Patient Health Records A hospital in Orlando, FL has decided to switch from a paper based system to an electronic health record system. An electronic health record is a computerized, accessible record that contains multimedia data (scanned images, digital, video, voice, and so on) about the patient; it is basically the patient s paper chart. EHR s are real time records which allow instant availability to those who have authorized access to the EHR (Bowie, 2011). There are many reasons for a hospital to want to change from paper records to an EHR; the usual primary reason is to improve medical documentation. First and foremost it is important to establish what the hospital s primary reason is to establish an EHR. Knowing this will make the transition smoother and faster because of comprehensive EHR software and hardware installation that is comprised of a number of different components (Medflow). The steps involved in the migration of patient health records from a paper based system to an electronic health record in a hospital setting are as follows: 1. It is important to have an estimated project budget for the transition, having this will prevent delays or cost overruns later. 2. The hospital might need to hire an outside company or decentralize document imaging at different locations in the practice. If an outside company is hired records are sent offsite to be scanned and converted, the hospital needs to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Research Paper On Child Slavery Child Slavery Up until the 13th amendment, owning a slave had been just like owning any other piece of property. No one felt guilty about how the slaves were being mistreated. The 13th amendment was the first step in ending slavery in the United States, but no steps were taken to end slavery in other countries. Even though people believe that slavery no longer exists today, about 5.5 million children are still held captive in slavery (Anti Slavery International 2012). Child slavery can come in many different forms. There are a few differences between child work, child labor, and child slavery. Child work is beneficial to the child. Work can be used to gain skills or knowledge that is essential for the child growing up. Work can also be a source of income for a family. Child labor is the child being taken away from an education and development. An example of child labor would be a ten year old child working for a company when the labor laws say that the minimum working age is 15. The worst form of child labor is when the child is doing hazardous work. Any work that is dangerous to the child is considered hazardous work. Slavery and slavery like practices are the major and most common types of child labor. Child trafficking is transporting children away from their homes and families, so they can be exploited for sex or labor. The children are left vulnerable and at the mercy of their employers (Anti Slavery International). In 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After reading the novel, it soon became clear to me that the theme of this novel is the importance of memories. I believe that the novel is trying to show how important our memories are while highlighting the differences of these memories between family members based on their life experiences. The first place where we can see the vastly different recollection of memories is when the brothers are discussing S. Mitsu proclaims that it was their grandfather who went first. He recalls exact dates and uses that in his arguments against his brother. Mitsu enjoys taking this memory way from his brother and declares that he has the memory mistaken: That was what he wanted to believe, so he was almost consciously ignoring the fact that it was wrong (Oe, Pg. 95) The importance of memories is key to understanding the novel, but we must also focus on the idea of life experiences. I believe that the life events that each of the brothers has experienced alter the way in which they recall memories. Mitsu has been going through a rough time. People flocked to the up and coming science based town, revitalizing the population to 8,000 by 1955. As the population boom was upon this quiet wooded town, the U.S. Naval Observatory Flagstaff Station was established, as was the U.S Geological Survey in 1963. With more observatories being built and the advancement of the natural sciences, the need for the preservation of dark skies in Flagstaff became apparent (Flagstaff s). The first upward battle in the establishment of dark skies that Flagstaff faced was in 1958. The Anti searchlight law allowed officers to fine individuals $300 when in possession of a searchlight, or receive 90 days in jail. By June 1972, Tucson had adopted Arizona s second lighting law all lights had to be pointed downward and Pima County developed a similar law soon after. • 39. The Importance Of Computer Technology In Education The past few decades have been marked by rapid development in computer technology from the early days of the mainframe computers in the 1960s to the current age whereby the gap between computer technology and everyday life has reduced immensely. There is no doubt that computers have permeated everyday life from their use in almost all aspects of life from the social aspects through social media, to their use in making everyday life better in every way. However, an argument brought to the fore postulates that there has been an overreliance on computer technology to the point where humans are unable to function without them. While one school of thought argues that this is true by highlighting that various functions such as medical examinations can only be done using computer technology, another points out that there is need to develop human ability without necessarily relying on computers. Education as a source of creativity Sir Ken Robinson, in his video on how schools kill creativity, highlights that the current education system doesn t promote creativity among school children through various ways. He argues that while creativity is essentially focused on coming up with original ideas that are often wrong, school feigns on mistakes thereby acting as a deterrent to the development of creativity. Herrera (2016) reiterates Robinson by pointing out that children should not be fought when they are wrong rather, they ought to be provided with an opportunity to fully express ... The reaction was carried out through reflux and the product had a relatively high yield (75%) (Scheme 1). Scheme 1. Substitution of 3 phenyl 1 propanol to form 1 bromo 3 phenylpropane The reaction was determined to be SN2 after careful reading of the data obtained and the procedure followed. Increasing the amount of NaBr used in the reaction did not have an effect on the product yield. The conditions of the reactions were acidic due to the solvent used. The acidic conditions prevent an E2 substitution reaction from occurring. In this reaction, the OH leaving group is replaced with the nucleophile Br. The bromine attacks the first carbon and the OH group leaves in the same step. This is a concerted process or bimolecular substitution mechanism (SN2). The location of the leaving group (primary) also indicates the reaction is SN2. The data obtained from 1H NMR was found to confirm the correct product was formed. The data showed the correct location and coupling of hydrogens in the product. There should be a difference of polarities between the starting material and the product.
