The Box Man Essay
Meaning
1. This essay implies to the reader that loneliness isn t always a vile thing. The author compares
somebody who has absolutely nothing in life but enjoys the solitude, to people who roam through life
alone, seeking for company but never find it. The author compares the chosen lifestyle of the box man,
to the undesired for loneliness of the victims. The author explains that although one may be poor and
alone, it does not mean that one is unhappy. For example, in paragraph 12 it is explained that the
mayor has offered him help, but the box man pushes it away. In paragraph 18 it is described how the
box man enjoys his dark life. It is portrayed that life is a solo journey and that one may be much more
miserable by going through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These assumptions are proven when the author mentions all the different stages of the quest before
finally realizing that it is all to be wasted away in the second half of your life.
Method and Structure
1. The author uses rhetorical devices in her essay to develop the main idea throughout the paragraphs.
She explains her feelings towards loneliness by using allusions and anecdotes. Fox example, she
brings up a memory in her past. The boxcar children would be an example of an allusion.(Par 9) These
methods all eventually lead up to the author s point of view, and the main idea of course.
2. The way the essay is organized helps the reader understand the purpose of the essay much better.
The author begins by telling a story, and the reader has no idea what the meaning is. The author
continues telling stories, and then it all leads up to the author s point of view on loneliness.
Language
1. The author s main idea and purposes are revealed by a series of anecdotes and allusions. The author
gets very personal about the subject, as if she was going through the realization herself. You can see
her opinion by the way she refers to certain things. For example, the author brings up an old memory
from her childhood in paragraph nine. When she is describing the boxcar children, the words she uses
are almost as if they were too

Intel Antitrust
Intel Corporation is a technology company out of Santa Clara, California and is one of the world s
highest valued chipmakers and very well known microprocessors. A micro processer is to a computer
what a brain is to a person. They were investigated for antitrust behavior after there were reports that
that Intel was paying Dell large sums of money so that they would force customers not use a specific
original equipment manufacturer Advanced Micro Device on their computers. Intel of course denies
any and all reports of wrongdoing and even justified their actions to be beneficial to consumers. This
was not the first or last time the multi billion dollar company was told they are not playing a business
fair monopoly. Even the Federal trade commission has accused Intel of abusing their market power.

somewhat how Intel was buying out there competitors like a monopoly. If there is only 1 company
called Intel that sells these advanced microchips then they could set their price at what they wanted.
This is bad for customers at that time because there was less market of options to choose from and as
the price of AMD s went up the other industries were sinking and could not compete with lower prices
that Intel offered. Consumers could have benefited through Intel s monopoly at that time by enjoying

Use Of Trauma In Wilson Owen s Dulce Et Decorum Est
Wilson Owen (1893 1918), a soldier that fought in WWI, uses aspects of prosody in his poem Dulce et
Decorum Est (1917) to convey how trauma generates significant impact because one suffers from
confusion during a deathly situation. The poet describes an experience he had while in war: In all my
dreams before my helpless sight, / he plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning (Owen 15 16).
Owen uses imagery to set the scene by describing his situation as something he cannot help. A fellow
soldier is enveloped in tear gas and cannot find a gas mask so he plunges toward the author in attempt
to receive his. Furthermore, he changes the rhythmical structure from iambic to trochaic in the last two
beats, choking, drowning (Owen 16).

A Brief Note On Psychological And Psychological Disorders
Malingering Psychological Disorders Jalisse M. Smith John Jay College of Criminal Justice Deception
is often portrayed in various instances. Patients may feign an illness to get quick medical attention,
receive compensation, or to evade going to work. Individuals sometimes even pretend to have
physical or psychological illnesses to avoid reporting to military duty. Psychologists and psychiatrists
often find themselves in the position to determine whether or not a criminals alleged symptoms are
real or exaggerated. Malingering, according to the American Psychological Association is defined as
the premeditated fabrication of deception and inflated physical or psychological symptoms, driven by
outside motivations. It is important to detect defendant malingering to determine whether the
individual is competent to stand trial. Competent to stand trial refers to an individual s ability to take
part effectively in criminal proceedings and to assist in one s defense. Psychological evaluations were
developed to detect people who are faking their symptoms. One example of this is the Structured
Interview of Reported Symptoms (SIRS) (Costanzo Krauss, 2012). This test is approximately a thirty
minute interview and evaluation. The psychologist questions the examinee about the physical or
psychological symptoms that they claim to be experiencing. The test consists of questions that are
unlikely to be truthful even for who are severely mentally disturbed. The content

Jessie Owens Stereotypes
Jessie Owens, who was a famous African American sprinter, fought back against Hitler s racial
stereotypes of Blacks by winning four gold medals and becoming one of the worlds most successful
athletes. Owens challenged Nazi ideology that African Americans were inferior because he used his
skill to win four gold medals, which disproved the idea that African Americans were unsuccessful
athletes. The biggest blow to Nazi ideology about African Americans was that the German crowd
treated Jessie Owens as a hero whereby they chanted and cheered his name whenever he entered the
arena, which was reported to embarrass Hitler. In addition, Andre Kabos who was a Jewish Hungarian
fencer almost gave up his fencing career due to anti Jewish propaganda in Hungary and was pressured
by Jewish organizations to boycott the German games. However, Kabos chose to have one last run and
performed in the 1936 Berlin games where he had his best performance ever and used his Jewish pride
to strengthen his motivation to beat a German fencer and won a Gold medal in fencing. Kabos
completely destroyed the Nazi ideology that Jews were the inferior race because not only did he win a
gold medal, but he single handily beat a bloody German! Later during the Holocaust, Kabos was
forced into a labour camp where he died, but to his grave he must have died with Jewish pride because
he defeated a German right in front of Hitler s eye s. Even though both Jessie Owen and Andre Kabos

Compare And Contrast Christopher Columbus And Hernando Cortez
Once the New World was revealed, several explorers were sent to claim land for the countries they
represented. One explorer was Hernando Cortez who was sent by Spain to claim the Aztec capital,
Tenochtitlan. John Cabot was sent to explore what is now Canada by King Henry VII of England.
Another notorious explorer would be Christopher Columbus who initially was the first to actually find
the New World. Although explorers come from different countries, they all share a desire to
accumulate land and wealth. Hernando Cortez, of Spain, was sent to explore and claim the Aztec
Empire. Spain sent Cortez there only after hearing about great treasures supposedly being hidden
there. Cortez was given a small expedition of about six hundred men to command

Data on Fixed Lines vs Cellular Essay examples
In this paper I will go over the pros and cons of having a purely fixed line network vs. a purely
cellular network. When making this decision there are several things to consider, the most important is
what this network is going to be used for. I am going to first go over the fixed line network then
follow up with the cellular network. At the end of this paper I will do a recommendation to a new
company that wants to open up a Skype style service as to whether they should use a fixed line or a
cellular network. Fixed line telephones was the main form of communication in 1877 and this was the
case up to the time when cellular phone came into the world. Fixed lines are in every home and
building today so everyone has the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Network security is very important on any network with a DSL connection on a fixed line there is no
change in the network security. Network security would be handled by a firewall that would be
handled by the modem and of course at the device itself. Then the subscriber or company would
themselves use additional software for further protection. Troubleshooting is handled by both the
subscriber and Telephone Company. There is a way to determine where one ends and the other begins
this is known as the demarcation line. This is usually where the wiring enters the home or building.
But this really depends on if this is a single occupant property or a multiple occupant property. The
failover solution when using a fixed line service for Internet connection would be to have back up
equipment available for the site and for the Telephone Company it would be good to know at the
central office there is additional servers just in case there is a malfunction. When it comes to the data
itself it is always important to have a backup ran on a daily or weekly basis depending on the
importance of the data. When Cellular phones first came out the main use was to make phone calls.
The first generation of the cell phone transmitted information the same analog format as a fixed line.
The second generation (2G) transmission switched to digital which gave cell phones the ability to
transmit and receive voice and data. When

The Help Analysis Paper
The Help Is an American novel that represents an era of civil rights, written by the point of view of a
white educated southern woman, in a very different time period of what the book is set in. The Help
takes place during the 1960 s in Jackson, Mississippi. This novel tells a story about the relationships
between African American maids and their white employers. During the 1960 s, not only in
Mississippi but the greater part of the south, African American women were the nannies and maids to
white families for generations and dealt with racism in order to earn an income for their own families.
The Help not only touches on a racist time era but a sexist one as well. In The 60 s women were to be

Child Obesity Research Essay
Child Obesity Having obese children is a problem. The question resumes, why? Are children less
active? Are they not eating the right things? Or are they a product of their parents lifestyle? Whatever
the answer maybe, we must find it quick. Obesity in children Is becoming an epidemic. And the
African American population is leading the way. According to WE Can!, a program of the National
Institutes of health 31.7 percent of children between the age of 2 19 years old are overweight or obese.
Including an African American population of 35.9 percent. This number is more than the 29.3 percent
that represent the White children in the same age category. Following my intital research on Child
Obesity, I found a study, by (Young Hyman, Herman, Scott, Schlundt, 1999), examined the care giver
perception of children s obesity. The method od this study screen 111 families in a diabetes prevention
study. Care givers completed a health awareness questionnaire that assessed their perception of the
child s weight, eating habits, appearance, exercise habits, and health risk. Additionally, the care givers
gave each participant s family history of obesity, diabetes, and other chronic diseases. The results
supported that 44% of the care givers saw their child s weight to be a problem. The substantial number
of parents who saw their child s weight as a problem is deveasting. Parents are not adjusting their

Hugh Glass Symbolism
The exposition started the moment Hugh Glass previous story was shared to us. His village was raided
and houses were set on fire. Moving forward, Hugh Glass led a team to hunt in an unknown territory
in the middle of the forest. His team was suddenly attacked by Arikara Natives while he was out
hunting with his son ,far away from the others. They engaged in a bloody duel with the Arikara
Natives. With only a few men left, they took the chance to continue their journey on foot, rather than
being on the boat, as this would make them vulnerable. While everyone was resting, Hugh Glass
wandered around the forest with his gun. He spotted a grizzly bear and her cubs. This was one of the
major conflicts in the movie (Man vs Animal). Hugh Glass experienced a horrendous bear attack, and
he became incapable of managing his body. His team was having a difficult time moving forward with

Allegory And Death In The Gray Man By Sarah Orne Jewett
The Gray Man is a short story written by an American author named Sarah Orne Jewett who is a short
story writer. The story is set in an area around Mt. Agamenticus which is a wooden area located in
Southern Maine, and it portrays an important message about life. This is shown through the use of
allegory and personification, which includes giving personal attributes or characteristics to inanimate
objects. The allegorical theme is simply that the Gray Man, represents death. Because of him, the
townspeople will learn that the very reason life has meaning is because it eventually ends. Sarah Orne
Jewett lived in New England, in Berwick, Maine. As a young girl she would travel with her dad, who
was a doctor. Together, they would go to house ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Gray Man himself, represents death. This is possible because he is an allegory, therefore, his
character represents a symbolic meaning rather than a human being. ... Death himself rode by in the
gray man s likeness; unsmiling Death who tries to teach and serve mankind so that he may at the last
win welcome as a faithful friend! . Jewett paints a very vivid mental image here, which helps us
understand how the townspeople felt around the stranger. Jewett uses the literary element of an
allegory to portray a themed moral in a story. The Gray Man personifies the goodness of life, and his
actions are designed to teach mankind. People often use him as an advisor on how to live life, yet he is

Why Is It Important To Sell To Minors Or Other Incompetent...
There are certain elements a contract must have to be enforceable. Capacity is one of those elements.
Capacity means having the legal and mental ability to enter into binding contracts. Among those not
considered competent are minors (in most states, persons under the age of 18), persons under the
influence of alcohol and other drugs, and people who are mentally ill (Goldman and Sigismond, 2014,
p.130) When dealing with contracts, incompetent parties such as minors, are treated differently. If an
incompetent party enters into an agreement or contract, it is not legally enforceable. The Law views
minors as irresponsible and unable to make rational decisions on their own. When we make purchases
at any store, we are entering into a contract. There are no exceptions as to who can make a purchase.
Because minors cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Returns can happen regardless of the store s return policy. Question: If minors can return purchases in
this way, why do retailers continue to sell to minors or other incompetent parties? Adults can avoid
suffering losses by refusing to enter into agreements with minors. If an adult does deal with a minor,
the adult may ask that a parent, guardian, or other adult sign the agreement along with the minor
(Goldman and Sigismond, 2014, p.171). However, when dealing with businesses and purchases, some
of us may look at it differently. There are minors who are employed and legally make their own
money. They have the right to spend their money whatever way they like. There are some minors who
receive an allowance from their parents weekly and the first place they go to is the mall to buy nice
things. Minors have birthdays and celebrate other holiday s in which they receive money to spend.

The Crucible; Belonging and Identity. Pan s Labyrinth and...
The Crucible Discussion Notes. One s belonging will always be entrenched in the belonging
established by another group; regardless of whether or not you wish to be a part of such a group. That
is to say, even if it is your aim to find your sense of belonging totally outside of another group, the
course of action required to achieve this belonging through not belonging will be influenced by the
sense of belonging established by the group; in your wish to contrast that belonging. A less convoluted
illustration of this concept is embodied in The Crucible s John Proctor; who we all know as the play s
non conformist character. Proctor s identity (identity and belonging being intrinsically linked) is
defined by his rejection of the goings on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, whilst Ofelia may be an individual, there is no escaping the fact that her individualism is
entrenched in (though diametrically opposed to) the belonging established by the group she wishes to
rebel against. Consequences, however, need not be always negative. Angela Carter s short story The
Company of Wolves explores belonging and consequences of belonging through the reinterpretation
of the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale. In Carter s version, the Red Riding Hood character has
agency unparalleled in any other telling of the tale. In the climax and resolution of the short story, the
text is obviously heavily influenced by second wave feminism (the text was written in 1979, over a
decade since Germaine Greer s groundbreaking The Female Eunuch ). All the better to eat you with.
The girl burst out laughing; she knew she was nobody s meat. She laughed at him full in the face; she
ripped off his shirt for him and flung it into the fire, in the fiery wake of her own discarded clothing.
(pg. 5, para. 6) The whole short story is laced with allusions to coming of age and subtle sexual
imagery; in this excerpt Carter uses the double entendre of the word meat to create an image of
violence (becoming the wolf s meat suggests brutal disembowelment) and sexual objectification (the
wolf sees the girl as simply a virgin sex object; a piece of meat for his consumption), to which the girl
not only objects, but

Shiloh by Bobbie Ann Mason Essay
The setting in the short story Shiloh by Bobbie Ann Mason works well to accentuate the theme of the
story. The theme portrayed by Mason is that most people change along with their environment, with
the exception of the few who are unwilling to adapt making it difficult for things such as marriage to
work out successfully. These difficulties are apparent in Norma Jean and Leroy s marriage. As Norma
Jean advances herself, their marriage ultimately collapses due to Leroy s unwillingness to adapt with
her and the changing environment. Leroy Moffit is a truck driver, and over the years as his wife
Norma Jean is adapting to the changing community his adaptation to things consist of pretty much the
way he drives his truck. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Leroy took a drive one day around his community, suddenly he realized how much it had changed
over the years and yet he failed to notice, as he failed to notice Norma Jean changing. As Leroy
remained stationary the community and his wife continued advancing together adapting to the changes
of the working world. Setting also comes into play by supporting the theme in the latter part of the
story when Leroy and Norma Jean travel to a civil war battleground named Shiloh. On this ground a
battle took place due to the clashing of two sides. One side was unwilling to adapt, similar to Leroy s
unwillingness. While they are at the battle ground Norma Jean tells Leroy that their marriage is over,
like she is ending a war that has been going on for too long. The setting of the battleground
accentuates the decline of Norma Jean and Leroy s marriage ultimately coming to an end. The story of
Shiloh is an example of what happens when a person is unwilling to adapt to his or her environment,
ultimately resulting in a conflict and an ending. As Norma Jean adapts to her environment, Leroy is
unwilling to adapt and is left behind resulting as the end of their marriage. The setting in the story of
Shiloh supports the theme of the story by accentuating on what the characters do throughout the
sequence of the story. An institution such as marriage

The God Of Small Things And Chemmeen
What makes people who they are? From a young age, cultural rules that outline the expectations of a
person in their society are instilled in a person s mind . They are molded by their fundamental role in
their society and continually adhere to that role throughout their lives. They can t over cross those
boundaries. The different roles assigned to a person by society influences their identity through their
life. The characters of The God of small things and Chemmeen are an example of how breaking these
cultural values can go well, as well as disastrously. The characters Ammu, Velutha, and Karuthamma
struggle to follow these societal codes of their community and this undoubtedly leads to their demise.
For my paper, I will display to you how one s community can influence one s occupation, social

village called Ayemenem. She is the daughter of Pappachi and Mammachi and the sister of Chacko.

Children s Emergent Literacy Development
The type of (HLE) a child is in can significantly impacts a child s emergent literacy development.
(Senechal, Lefevre, Thomas , Daley, 1996; Sawyer, et al., 2014; Sénéchal LeFevre, 2002; Senechal
LaFevre, 2014). HLE is defined by the frequency of storybook reading and literacy teaching during
book reading (Sawyer, et al., 2014, p. 65). Sénéchal LeFevre (2002 2014) conducted a study to prove
that a positive and helpful HLE aids in children s emergent literacy. The Home Literacy Model used
proved the original hypothesis. There was a statistically significant predictor of parent s creating a
positive HLE and frequency of shared book reading that positively correlated to the child s literacy
abilities for the beginning of grade 1. Shared book reading comprises 4% of the significant differences
with the child s vocabulary. The formal literacy measures presented by the parents like, actively
listening to the child read and the method the parent uses to teach, was deemed most helpful as a
predictor for the child s reading abilities by the end of grade 1. The study concluded that a positive
HLE promoted growth within the child s vocabulary and word reading skills (Sénéchal LeFevre, 2002;
Senechal LaFevre, 2014).
Important factors that contribute to a positive HLEs to children with emerging literacy vary. Typical
predictors of high quality HLE are seen through the number of children books in the home, the
amount of library visits attended with the child, the

The Thin Ideal Is Being Pushed On Children
Now that it has been proven that the thin ideal is being pushed on children, children as young as 5, one
should know the possibly consequences of its exposure. When children are constantly being shown
one certain ideal, it soon becomes internalize, which leads to behaviors that often go unnoticed by
parents. While these behaviors may seem harmless at first glance, they can be part of a bigger
unhealthier problem. In a study were young girls played with dolls with different body proportions,
and then were given snacks to eat, this was the result, they ate less food when they played with the

Clearly people have begun to more active, but more has to be done. Parents should get together and be
more involved with the type of media they expose their young girls and boys to. In the world of social
media, smart phones, and the Internet, there are now more ways than ever for companies to push
dangerous imagery towards children. Toys and dolls are not the only way for a child to be targeted,
and parents need restrict what their children are exposed to. It is impossible to shield ones child to
everything, but watching what toys you buy them, and what kind of media they watch at home is a
good way to start. Promoting body positivity and healthier body images are ways to stop your kids
from developing eating disorders, and self esteem issues later in life. Parents play a huge role in
shaping how kids think and feel about their bodies. Starting to bolster kids body image early, even in
preschool, can make a big difference in how kids feel about themselves as they grow up. (Filucci)
Teaching young children how media can be manipulative can be a very important way to help them
avoid internalizing harmful imagery, such as the thin ideal. Communities should demand media
illiteracy be taught in middle schools and even elementary schools. One should not have to wait until
they are in high school or college to learn about the dangerous tactics that are used in the media, to
indoctrinate the public. We know that children can

The At The Statesboro Main Street Farmers Market From 10
On September 3, 2016, I was given the opportunity to serve at The Statesboro Main Street Farmers
Market from 10:00am until 1:00pm. This event is open to the public from April to November every
Saturday from 9:30am 12:30pm beside the Bulloch County Courthouse and Sea Island Bank. Here
you will find many local vendors selling their own produce. This event is not limited to produce as
you will also find locals selling jewelry, baked goods, crafts, and my personal favorite, coffee. Some
locally owned stores other than farmers bring their business to the market such as Three Tree Coffee
Roasters, Sugar Magnolia, Cork s Kettle Corn, B G Honey Farm, etc. With a small town feel, this
charming location is perfect for the venue at hand.
What was your role at the event?
Upon arrival, I went to the information vendor located in the middle of the Farmers Market where I
was greeted by other volunteers and Melanie Sparrow, who told me my responsibilites for the
upcoming hours. My first duty was to hand out various advertisements for the upcoming GreenFest
which will be held October 1st, 2016, across the street from the Farmers Market. The GreenFest is
held by Georgia Southern s Center for Sustainability. The goal of this event is to teach people about
green living and what it entails. Much like the Farmers Market, there will be live music, vendors, and
workshops. Aside from passing out ads, I also helped keep attendance of everyone in the market by
taking a count every 30 minutes or so.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Led Lights
Everything in this world comes with its benefits and disadvantages. With this, here are some of the
advantages and disadvantages of the LED street lights. Advantages of the LED street lights include the
following 1. Lower consumption of energy Most of the LED lighting retrofits are said to dramatically
reduce the energy used. However, in the actual facts, studies have shown that lower energy
consumption is tied and limited to reduced levels of illumination. 2. Has predictable and long lifetime
The lifespan of the LED street lights is between 10 to 15 years. This lifespan in 2 to 4 times the
lifespan of the current prevalent HPS. The LED products do not fail like the other light sources or
barring catastrophic failure of the other electronic or mechanical components of the LED fixtures. The
lifetime of a product is typically set by decreasing luminous output by 30 percent. However, the
functional lifespan of any LED fixture is usually limited by the weakest link. The associated drive
electronics are projected to last for about 50,000 hours. It is very crucial to understand that there is no
LED streetlight product that has been in service for this long so that it can be used to ... Show more

LEDs color rendering is more accurate The color rendering index of the LEDs is basically the ability
of the light source to reproduce colors of the objects correctly in comparison with an ideal light
source. An improved color rendering index makes it simpler for drivers to easily recognize the objects.
4. You can quickly turn on and off Unlike the high intensity discharge lamps (HID) and fluorescent
lamps such as metal halide, mercury vapor as well as sodium vapor lamps, it takes time to heat up
once the switched in turned on. The LEDs usually come with full brightness instantly. 5. Instant restart
Unlike the metal halide, sodium vapor and mercury vapor lamps, the LEDs do not have any problem
when restarting immediately that maybe due to inadvertent turn off or brief power

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Virtual Reality
Oxford Dictionary defines virtual reality as The computer generated simulation of a three dimensional
image or environment that can be interacted with in a seemingly real or physical way by a person
using special electronic equipment, such as a helmet with a screen inside or gloves fitted with sensors.
Wikipedia says Virtual Reality (VR), which can be referred to as immersive multimedia or computer
simulated life, replicates an environment that simulates physical presence in places in the real world or
imagined worlds. Virtual reality can recreate sensory experiences, which include virtual taste, sight,
smell, sound, and touch.
As with the definition goes,Virtual Reality (VR) in simple way to define I would say it is the use of
computer technology embedded with many different sensors which mimics the natural environment
and make us feel as if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Haptic systems that provide physical feedback or allow a fully articulated presence within an
environment are clumsy and can cause problems during use. The type of hardware that even simple
head mounted displays use can break the sense of immersion as adjustments to the device need to be
made and components such as wires and headphones turn into obstacles to natural movement.Socially,
some of the disadvantages of using virtual reality as entertainment have already started to surface,
even without an experience that fully removes a person from his or her surrounding stimuli. One issue
is social isolation, in which the user of virtual reality relies more on interactions that take place in a
virtual world than on experiences in the real world. This lack of true, physical interaction has the
potential to create incorrect associations that are not part of real social settings. The isolation could
eventually cause depression, disassociation and other conditions, if it is severe

The Medium Is the Massage Mcluhan
The medium is the message McLuhan defines the medium as any extension of our body, senses or

often subtle and it is this change that is the message (McLuhan, 1994). At first glance, McLuhan s
statement seems paradoxical. However, my conventional understanding of message as the content is

It is our responsibility to study the effects of our technologies to prevent any detrimental unanticipated
consequences they may have on our society. Samuel Morse when he invented telegraphy, predicted
that it would make one neighborhood of the whole country. According to Postman telegraphy
destroyed the prevailing definition of information, and in doing so gave a new meaning to public
discourse. It is with telegraphy and its union with the press that the value of information changed.
Information became context
‐free and a commodity. Information was bought and sold irrespective of
its use or meaning, 1 and this is how the value of news has come to rely on its novelty, interest and
curiosity and not on its functionality (Postman, 1986). Television speaks in only one persistent voice
the voice of entertainment, (Postman, 1986).

My Spiritual Journey
Personal Spiritual Journey
My Spiritual Journey is my walk with God and Jesus Christ, from whom l seek solace and guidance
every second, minute and hour of my day. Decisions that l make daily be it personal, educational and
spiritual are based on what l feel is the Godly and ethical way. At a very young age, l was introduced
to God and this when my walk with God began. Being raised in a Christian household l was taught
about the importance of God and how he supplied all our needs.
I am connected to God every day who is a superior power. I live an ethical and morally driven life as
to what God will approve. I find that when l think about who God, l feel a sense of love, joy,
excitement and peace because l know that he is watching over me and for my best interest. God is a
feeling to me, not a physical person; a higher power l seek in times of trouble and joy. I also praise
him for the blessings bestowed upon me and for my future benefits that will be granted to me when he
deems it appropriate. I equate God with the power that is above everything including Jesus.
When l was first taught about God, a lot of fear was instilled in me. I was told that he was the
Supreme and sacred being with the ultimate power to end my life if l offended him. l worshiped God
out of fear and not love because the Church l attended portrayed God as the one that gives life and can
strike you down anytime. Therefore, it was imperative that l prayed, attended Sunday school, church
services, and

Rap Music And Its Influence On Society
Rap music has been around for many years and still has a powerful influence on today s society. While
rap music provides a voice to the voiceless not all rap music is positive. Rappers emphasize their
reality, which was replete with property, police brutality, drug abuse, educational inequality, high drop
out rates and violence.... A sense of powerlessness to change conditions grounded in complex social,
political, and economic issues has led an artist to see ways to express their discontent. Rap music
became a cathartic outlet (Scott). Rap music promotes violence, degrades women, and has a high
content on sex. Rappers examine and advance cruelty in their verses. They inspect weapons,
penitentiary, gatherings, offering and utilizing remedies. These rappers laud a life of wrongdoing. This
at last permits children to wind up desensitized to roughness and wrongdoing. Precisely when a show
of furiousness is given, they are not notwithstanding remotely incapacitated by it, they would examine
it the same way they would analyze getting tennis shoes or setting out to the store: generally as it was
no noteworthy trial. The youths that listen to this music are desensitized to the cruelty, and moreover,
they copy it. Some fight that rap music does not advance roughness, it rather brings to light the
encounters of the individuals who live in bankrupted neighborhoods. Rappers verses are thought
around what they know, and what they have seen reliably. They inspect their world,

Blood Symptoms Of Amnesia
Amnesia refers to a large scale loss of memories that should not have been forgotten. They may
include important milestones in life, memorable events, key people in our lives, and vital facts we
have been told or taught (Nordqvist, 1). The chance of developing amnesia might increase if you ve
experienced brain surgery, head injury or trauma, stroke, alcohol abuse, or seizures. Amnesia can be
classified into different types depending on which aspect of memory is affected; this is often
determined by the areas in the brain that are damaged. Many kind of amnesia are associated with
damage to the hippocampus and related areas of the brain (Mastin, 4). Diagnosing the cause of
amnesia involves a range of tests including medical history, blood ... Show more content on

Losing part of your life memories is a big change, it can make it hard for you to do the things you used
to do on a regular basis. In some cases people with this condition will never recover from the
memories they lost, taking them to the point where they have to create new memories in their new life.
To avoid further memory loss people with amnesia should avoid alcohol abuse and have a proper diet.
It is important for those people who are suffering from memory loss, to have a doctor helping them
through the process of recovering. It is hard to know if someone will ever recover from their memory
lost, in some cases people tend to remember some stuff but not all. For those people who suffered
from anterograde amnesia(which means they have no capacity to make new memories, and may even
have difficulty recalling events before the onset memory) improvements can be made by repetition of
tasks so they can develop a routine, which lodges in their subconscious memory. For example, they
can organise details on what tasks to do and how to do them, just like we take notes in

  • 2. The Box Man Essay Meaning 1. This essay implies to the reader that loneliness isn t always a vile thing. The author compares somebody who has absolutely nothing in life but enjoys the solitude, to people who roam through life alone, seeking for company but never find it. The author compares the chosen lifestyle of the box man, to the undesired for loneliness of the victims. The author explains that although one may be poor and alone, it does not mean that one is unhappy. For example, in paragraph 12 it is explained that the mayor has offered him help, but the box man pushes it away. In paragraph 18 it is described how the box man enjoys his dark life. It is portrayed that life is a solo journey and that one may be much more miserable by going through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These assumptions are proven when the author mentions all the different stages of the quest before finally realizing that it is all to be wasted away in the second half of your life. Method and Structure 1. The author uses rhetorical devices in her essay to develop the main idea throughout the paragraphs. She explains her feelings towards loneliness by using allusions and anecdotes. Fox example, she brings up a memory in her past. The boxcar children would be an example of an allusion.(Par 9) These methods all eventually lead up to the author s point of view, and the main idea of course. 2. The way the essay is organized helps the reader understand the purpose of the essay much better. The author begins by telling a story, and the reader has no idea what the meaning is. The author continues telling stories, and then it all leads up to the author s point of view on loneliness. Language 1. The author s main idea and purposes are revealed by a series of anecdotes and allusions. The author gets very personal about the subject, as if she was going through the realization herself. You can see her opinion by the way she refers to certain things. For example, the author brings up an old memory from her childhood in paragraph nine. When she is describing the boxcar children, the words she uses are almost as if they were too ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A micro processer is to a computer what a brain is to a person. They were investigated for antitrust behavior after there were reports that that Intel was paying Dell large sums of money so that they would force customers not use a specific original equipment manufacturer Advanced Micro Device on their computers. Intel of course denies any and all reports of wrongdoing and even justified their actions to be beneficial to consumers. This was not the first or last time the multi billion dollar company was told they are not playing a business fair monopoly. Use Of Trauma In Wilson Owen s Dulce Et Decorum Est Wilson Owen (1893 1918), a soldier that fought in WWI, uses aspects of prosody in his poem Dulce et Decorum Est (1917) to convey how trauma generates significant impact because one suffers from confusion during a deathly situation. The poet describes an experience he had while in war: In all my dreams before my helpless sight, / he plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning (Owen 15 16). Owen uses imagery to set the scene by describing his situation as something he cannot help. A fellow soldier is enveloped in tear gas and cannot find a gas mask so he plunges toward the author in attempt to receive his. • 5. A Brief Note On Psychological And Psychological Disorders Malingering Psychological Disorders Jalisse M. Smith John Jay College of Criminal Justice Deception is often portrayed in various instances. Patients may feign an illness to get quick medical attention, receive compensation, or to evade going to work. Individuals sometimes even pretend to have physical or psychological illnesses to avoid reporting to military duty. Psychologists and psychiatrists often find themselves in the position to determine whether or not a criminals alleged symptoms are real or exaggerated. Malingering, according to the American Psychological Association is defined as the premeditated fabrication of deception and inflated physical or psychological symptoms, driven by outside motivations. It is important to detect defendant malingering to determine whether the individual is competent to stand trial. Competent to stand trial refers to an individual s ability to take part effectively in criminal proceedings and to assist in one s defense. Psychological evaluations were developed to detect people who are faking their symptoms. One example of this is the Structured Interview of Reported Symptoms (SIRS) (Costanzo Krauss, 2012). This test is approximately a thirty minute interview and evaluation. The psychologist questions the examinee about the physical or psychological symptoms that they claim to be experiencing. The test consists of questions that are unlikely to be truthful even for who are severely mentally disturbed. The content ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Jessie Owens Stereotypes Jessie Owens, who was a famous African American sprinter, fought back against Hitler s racial stereotypes of Blacks by winning four gold medals and becoming one of the worlds most successful athletes. Owens challenged Nazi ideology that African Americans were inferior because he used his skill to win four gold medals, which disproved the idea that African Americans were unsuccessful athletes. The biggest blow to Nazi ideology about African Americans was that the German crowd treated Jessie Owens as a hero whereby they chanted and cheered his name whenever he entered the arena, which was reported to embarrass Hitler. In addition, Andre Kabos who was a Jewish Hungarian fencer almost gave up his fencing career due to anti Jewish propaganda in Hungary and was pressured by Jewish organizations to boycott the German games. However, Kabos chose to have one last run and performed in the 1936 Berlin games where he had his best performance ever and used his Jewish pride to strengthen his motivation to beat a German fencer and won a Gold medal in fencing. Kabos completely destroyed the Nazi ideology that Jews were the inferior race because not only did he win a gold medal, but he single handily beat a bloody German! Later during the Holocaust, Kabos was forced into a labour camp where he died, but to his grave he must have died with Jewish pride because he defeated a German right in front of Hitler s eye s. When making this decision there are several things to consider, the most important is what this network is going to be used for. I am going to first go over the fixed line network then follow up with the cellular network. At the end of this paper I will do a recommendation to a new company that wants to open up a Skype style service as to whether they should use a fixed line or a cellular network. Network security is very important on any network with a DSL connection on a fixed line there is no change in the network security. Network security would be handled by a firewall that would be handled by the modem and of course at the device itself. Then the subscriber or company would themselves use additional software for further protection. Troubleshooting is handled by both the subscriber and Telephone Company. There is a way to determine where one ends and the other begins this is known as the demarcation line. This is usually where the wiring enters the home or building. But this really depends on if this is a single occupant property or a multiple occupant property. The failover solution when using a fixed line service for Internet connection would be to have back up equipment available for the site and for the Telephone Company it would be good to know at the central office there is additional servers just in case there is a malfunction. When it comes to the data itself it is always important to have a backup ran on a daily or weekly basis depending on the importance of the data. When Cellular phones first came out the main use was to make phone calls. The first generation of the cell phone transmitted information the same analog format as a fixed line. The second generation (2G) transmission switched to digital which gave cell phones the ability to transmit and receive voice and data. When ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Or are they a product of their parents lifestyle? Whatever the answer maybe, we must find it quick. Obesity in children Is becoming an epidemic. And the African American population is leading the way. According to WE Can!, a program of the National Institutes of health 31.7 percent of children between the age of 2 19 years old are overweight or obese. The story is set in an area around Mt. Agamenticus which is a wooden area located in Southern Maine, and it portrays an important message about life. This is shown through the use of allegory and personification, which includes giving personal attributes or characteristics to inanimate objects. The allegorical theme is simply that the Gray Man, represents death. Because of him, the townspeople will learn that the very reason life has meaning is because it eventually ends. • 14. Why Is It Important To Sell To Minors Or Other Incompetent... There are certain elements a contract must have to be enforceable. Capacity is one of those elements. Capacity means having the legal and mental ability to enter into binding contracts. Among those not considered competent are minors (in most states, persons under the age of 18), persons under the influence of alcohol and other drugs, and people who are mentally ill (Goldman and Sigismond, 2014, p.130) When dealing with contracts, incompetent parties such as minors, are treated differently. If an incompetent party enters into an agreement or contract, it is not legally enforceable. The Law views minors as irresponsible and unable to make rational decisions on their own. That is to say, even if it is your aim to find your sense of belonging totally outside of another group, the course of action required to achieve this belonging through not belonging will be influenced by the sense of belonging established by the group; in your wish to contrast that belonging. Consequences, however, need not be always negative. Angela Carter s short story The Company of Wolves explores belonging and consequences of belonging through the reinterpretation of the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale. In Carter s version, the Red Riding Hood character has agency unparalleled in any other telling of the tale. In the climax and resolution of the short story, the text is obviously heavily influenced by second wave feminism (the text was written in 1979, over a decade since Germaine Greer s groundbreaking The Female Eunuch ). She laughed at him full in the face; she ripped off his shirt for him and flung it into the fire, in the fiery wake of her own discarded clothing. (pg. 5, para. 6) The whole short story is laced with allusions to coming of age and subtle sexual imagery; in this excerpt Carter uses the double entendre of the word meat to create an image of violence (becoming the wolf s meat suggests brutal disembowelment) and sexual objectification (the wolf sees the girl as simply a virgin sex object; a piece of meat for his consumption), to which the girl not only objects, but ... • 17. Shiloh by Bobbie Ann Mason Essay The setting in the short story Shiloh by Bobbie Ann Mason works well to accentuate the theme of the story. The theme portrayed by Mason is that most people change along with their environment, with the exception of the few who are unwilling to adapt making it difficult for things such as marriage to work out successfully. These difficulties are apparent in Norma Jean and Leroy s marriage. As Norma Jean advances herself, their marriage ultimately collapses due to Leroy s unwillingness to adapt with her and the changing environment. Leroy Moffit is a truck driver, and over the years as his wife Norma Jean is adapting to the changing community his adaptation to things consist of pretty much the way he drives his truck. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Leroy took a drive one day around his community, suddenly he realized how much it had changed over the years and yet he failed to notice, as he failed to notice Norma Jean changing. As Leroy remained stationary the community and his wife continued advancing together adapting to the changes of the working world. Setting also comes into play by supporting the theme in the latter part of the story when Leroy and Norma Jean travel to a civil war battleground named Shiloh. On this ground a battle took place due to the clashing of two sides. One side was unwilling to adapt, similar to Leroy s unwillingness. While they are at the battle ground Norma Jean tells Leroy that their marriage is over, like she is ending a war that has been going on for too long. • 22. Children s Emergent Literacy Development The type of (HLE) a child is in can significantly impacts a child s emergent literacy development. (Senechal, Lefevre, Thomas , Daley, 1996; Sawyer, et al., 2014; SĂ©nĂ©chal LeFevre, 2002; Senechal LaFevre, 2014). HLE is defined by the frequency of storybook reading and literacy teaching during book reading (Sawyer, et al., 2014, p. 65). SĂ©nĂ©chal LeFevre (2002 2014) conducted a study to prove that a positive and helpful HLE aids in children s emergent literacy. The Home Literacy Model used proved the original hypothesis. There was a statistically significant predictor of parent s creating a positive HLE and frequency of shared book reading that positively correlated to the child s literacy abilities for the beginning of grade 1. Shared book reading comprises 4% of the significant differences with the child s vocabulary. The formal literacy measures presented by the parents like, actively listening to the child read and the method the parent uses to teach, was deemed most helpful as a predictor for the child s reading abilities by the end of grade 1. The study concluded that a positive HLE promoted growth within the child s vocabulary and word reading skills (SĂ©nĂ©chal LeFevre, 2002; Senechal LaFevre, 2014). Important factors that contribute to a positive HLEs to children with emerging literacy vary. Typical predictors of high quality HLE are seen through the number of children books in the home, the amount of library visits attended with the child, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This event is open to the public from April to November every Saturday from 9:30am 12:30pm beside the Bulloch County Courthouse and Sea Island Bank. Here you will find many local vendors selling their own produce. This event is not limited to produce as you will also find locals selling jewelry, baked goods, crafts, and my personal favorite, coffee. Some locally owned stores other than farmers bring their business to the market such as Three Tree Coffee Roasters, Sugar Magnolia, Cork s Kettle Corn, B G Honey Farm, etc. With a small town feel, this charming location is perfect for the venue at hand. What was your role at the event? Upon arrival, I went to the information vendor located in the middle of the Farmers Market where I was greeted by other volunteers and Melanie Sparrow, who told me my responsibilites for the upcoming hours. My first duty was to hand out various advertisements for the upcoming GreenFest which will be held October 1st, 2016, across the street from the Farmers Market. The GreenFest is held by Georgia Southern s Center for Sustainability. The goal of this event is to teach people about green living and what it entails. One issue is social isolation, in which the user of virtual reality relies more on interactions that take place in a virtual world than on experiences in the real world. This lack of true, physical interaction has the potential to create incorrect associations that are not part of real social settings. The isolation could eventually cause depression, disassociation and other conditions, if it is severe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
